《Assassins of Tomorrow》 Chapter 1 - The Imperials Attack: The Jedis Last Hope. Star Wars EPISODE I: ASSASSINS OF TOMORROW. In the shadow of the GALACTIC EMPIRE, a new alliance stirs. SKYNET, a powerful artificial intelligence, has emerged, guided by a wise JEDI MASTER MACE WINDU, dedicated to protecting the galaxy from tyranny. On the war-torn planet of MECHARA, Skynet''s advanced machines clash with the Empire in a desperate bid to liberate the galaxy from oppression. Yet, lurking in the shadows is EMPEROR PALPATINE, and his newly constructed Death Star, a harbinger of doom. As defeat looms, the Jedi leader devises a daring plan. He dispatches two advanced TERMINATORS back through time¡ª to eliminate ANAKIN SKYWALKER and SHEEV PALPATINE, the greatest threats to peace and the Jedi. This bold gambit will determine the fate of the galaxy... The vast expanse of space. Trillions of stars stretch across the darkness. Suddenly, the silence is broken by a TIE Fighter spiralling out of control, consumed in flames as it descends toward Mechara, a planet engulfed in battle, where a chaotic clash rages between the Empire and Skynet''s forces. One of Skynet''s massive warships fills the sky as five TIE Fighters retaliate, their green lasers ripping through the warship''s hull and reducing it to a fireball in space. The TIE Fighters swarm the Terminator ships, filling the sky with streaks of energy blasts and explosions. On the surface, the conflict rages. A Terminator strides across the war-torn landscape, its crimson eyes glowing as it fires its blaster. Purple bolts of energy erupt across the battlefield, swiftly countered by a squad of advancing Scout Walkers, their cannons obliterating entire groups of Skynet''s machines. The Empire''s forces, vastly outnumbering the Terminators, press forward relentlessly. Stormtroopers move in, their blaster rifles cutting through the metallic hordes. A massive Sentinel-class shuttle descends, its imposing wings folding as it lands. As the ramp lowers, a large platoon of Stormtroopers charges out, bolstering the imperial attack. Debris rains down as explosions tear apart the remnants of the Terminators. Amidst the smouldering wreckage, a new ship lands. The black figure of Darth Vader emerges from the ramp, his dark cloak billowing behind him. Vader steps on a fallen Terminator skull, crushing it underfoot; the red eye flickers briefly before fading, signalling the machine''s demise. Vader observes a fortified metal building, partially obscured by dense vegetation. Four Stormtroopers hoist a heavy laser cannon and position it in front of the sealed entrance. With a nod from the dark lord of the Sith, the cannon fires a searing bolt of energy, shattering the door into molten shards. Darth Vader and his Stormtroopers advance. As they near the opening, laser fire erupts from within. One Stormtrooper falls, but the others quickly return fire. After a few tense moments, the blaster fire ceases, and the danger inside is neutralised. Vader leads his troops into the building. Inside, darkness, save for the faint light streaming in from the shattered doorway, and an unnerving silence fills the air. Suddenly, a sound breaks the stillness¡ªSchvrmmm! A lightsaber ignites, casting a cold blue light over the grim, metallic face of a Terminator. The machine, wielding a lightsaber, lunges forward with inhuman speed, striking down a Stormtrooper in a single, clean motion. Its lightsaber slices through armour effortlessly. The Terminator moves fluidly, eliminating another, and another. The air fills with the hum of its lightsaber. Darth Vader, lurking in the shadows, stepped forward as his lightsaber activated with a menacing hum, its crimson blade illuminating the darkness. The weapon glowed fiercely, casting an ominous red light around him. Suddenly, the Terminator turned, its scarlet eyes gleaming with menace, and charged at Vader with relentless determination. The two clash in a brief, but brutal duel, lightsabers crackling and sparking with each strike. With a powerful spin, Vader decapitates the Terminator, sending its head rolling, and clattering to the floor as its lifeless body slumps down with a heavy thud. In the darkness, three more blue lightsabers hum into life, their glow reflecting off six piercing red eyes. The Terminators advance towards Vader. Reacting instantly, Vader clenches his fist, hurling two of the machines aside with the Force. He leaps toward the remaining one, driving his lightsaber through its skull.Stolen story; please report. Behind him, the last two Stormtroopers fire at the fallen Terminators. The trio advances through the pitch-black corridor, the only light coming from Vader''s chest control panel. The only sound is his mechanical breathing. As they move deeper into the darkness, Vader senses something¡ªa presence he hasn''t felt in years. Suddenly, a purple lightsaber ignites, casting a soft glow on an older, battle-scarred Mace Windu. His lined face bears the marks of age, burns, and scars, mostly obscured by a thick grey beard, but his eyes remain sharp and resolute. "Mace Windu," Vader''s voice rumbles, echoing in the narrow hall. "I did not expect to see you." Mace says nothing, his eyes narrowing as he grips his lightsaber in a firm two-handed stance. "Is that any way to greet an old friend?" Vader mocks. Mace steps forward. "Anakin Skywalker. You have fallen." The mention of his old name enrages Vader. "Anakin is dead. He was weak¡ªlike you, and like the Jedi." "I don''t think so, young Skywalker," Mace growls, surging forward. He closes the gap with incredible speed, raising his lightsaber for a powerful strike. Vader blocks, but stumbles back from the sheer force of the blow. This will be a real fight¡ªone he hasn''t experienced in years. Before he can recover, Mace presses the attack, his movements lightning-fast. Vader struggles to parry the flurry of strikes. Vader senses anger in Mace and something darker. Mace Windu has tapped into the Dark Side. Vader takes another step back, trying to regain his composure. The Stormtroopers raise their blaster rifles to help, but Vader commands them to lower their weapons. "I will deal with him alone." Vader counters with a sweeping strike, but Mace twirls away, forcing Vader off balance. Mace nearly lands a lethal blow, but Vader narrowly deflects the strike. He had forgotten just how skilled Mace Windu was in lightsaber combat¡ªa Jedi Master now seemingly empowered by the Dark Side. "You''ve been corrupted by the Dark Side," Mace responds coldly. "I will restore balance to the Force by ending your tyranny." Vader''s mechanical breath echoed in the tense silence. His voice took on a mocking tone as he said, ''So, you''ve joined the Dark Side.''" Mace''s eyes flashed with irritation as he began to question whether he had indeed joined the dark side. The dark side had a way of clouding one''s judgement. Shaking off the thought, he focused on the present moment. "The only one corrupted by the Dark Side is you. You were never trustworthy¡ªarrogant, always defiant." Vader laughs, the sound echoing through the confined space. "I sense fear in you," Vader hissed, his voice filled with menace. The two clashed once more, their lightsabers colliding in a burst of sparks. After a flurry of activity, the fight momentarily paused, and both combatants stood in a tense stand-off, their blades humming ominously in the charged air. Each heavy breath echoed, both searching for any hint of weakness in the other''s defences. They circled one another like predators. "After your betrayal, Anakin, and the slaughter of the Jedi, I sought refuge on this desolate planet, barely clinging to life," Mace reveals, his eyes clouded with memory. "It was here that I discovered Skynet, an artificial intelligence capable of transporting forces across galaxies, far, far away." Mace''s cybernetic hand clenches, servos whirring softly. "I used my Jedi abilities to corrupt Skynet''s core, bending the machines to my will. They crafted this arm for me, terraformed the planet into a mechanical fortress." He pauses, gazing at his metallic limb. "Now, with an army of Terminators at my command, I''ll end the Empire and restore balance to the Force." Darth Vader''s voice cut through the air, cold and unwavering. "You were a traitor to the Galactic Republic, which led to the demise of the Jedi." Fuelled by rage, Mace raised his lightsaber from a defensive position, ready to strike. Vader''s voice resonates, "I sense great anger in you." He extends an offer, "Join me, and together we''ll rule the galaxy." "I''ll never join you, Skywalker!" Windu shouted defiantly. Their lightsabers collided, and the duel intensified as Mace pressed on with fierce determination. Suddenly, Mace faltered¡ªVader slammed him backward with the Force, sending his lightsaber flying from his hand. In that moment of distraction, Vader seized the opportunity. With a swift lunge, he drove his red glowing blade into Mace''s chest. The lightsaber hissed as it pierced through Mace''s body. His eyes widened in shock and pain as he fell to the floor, defeated and vulnerable beneath the looming figure of the Dark Lord. "You will not survive this time." Vader declares coldly. Just as Vader prepared to deliver the killing blow to Mace, an urgent message reaches him¡ªhe must leave immediately. The Death Star is about to fire its superlaser. Vader decides to leave Mace to die with his machines; it would be a fitting end. He powered down his lightsaber with a soft, fading hummm. "Farewell, Mace Windu. We shall not meet again" As Vader departs, Mace struggles to stand, using every ounce of the Force to cling to life. He has one final task¡ªa way to change the time line, to stop the Empire before it begins. Limping through the darkness, Mace opens a pair of massive vault doors, entering a time displacement chamber. In the centre of the room, a circular platform with three rotating rings hums with energy. Two human-like Terminators kneel in the centre. With great effort, Mace pulls a lever, and the rings begin to spin, accelerating with a low hum. Above, the Death Star moves into position, orbiting the planet ominously. Moff Tarkin, hands clasped behind his back, observes with icy satisfaction. "You may fire when ready," he commands. A low hum builds as the super-laser charges, and moments later, a colossal green beam erupts from the Death Star, destroying the planet below. In the displacement chamber, the spinning rings slow to a stop as the room shakes violently. The ceiling begins to collapse, debris raining down. Mace closes his eyes, feeling at peace with the Force for the first time in years. This last strike will bring balance to the force. Suddenly, the planet is consumed in an explosive supernova, while Moff Tarkin and Vader watch the destruction from above¡ªa victory for the Empire, Skynet, and the last of the Jedi destroyed. Chapter 2 - Tatooine: The Arrival of the First Terminator. Nearby, in Mos Eisley, the wind fell still as the last remnants of light began to fade. Suddenly, a blue flash pierced the darkness, and a large electrical orb materialised, crackling with energy. As quickly as it appeared, it vanished, leaving behind a muscular, naked man crouched on the sandy ground. It rose slowly, its cold eyes scanning the surroundings. Where the orb had appeared, a small crater formed in the sand, its edges glassy and fused from the intense heat. The faint sounds of music and chatter caught the Terminator''s attention. Identifying the source, it emerged from the glowing, red-hot crater, and began to move toward a cantina, renowned as a refuge for those seeking to evade the law. Inside, the dimly lit room was filled with a strange mix of alien patrons who drank and chatted as a lone figure entered. The bar fell silent as the imposing figure stepped into the light, its powerful physique commanding attention. The Terminator scanned the room, its vision tinted red as it processed the unusual patrons. Suddenly, it stopped; the data confirmed a physical match. The Terminator approached the counter, its expression cold and unblinking. "I need your boots, your clothes, and your speeder bike," the stranger said. Jaz Vex, a towering Zygerrian slave trader, leaned forward, his scarred feline face twisting into a sneer as he sized up the stern stranger. His expression shifted from serious to smug. "You want my speeder bike? The one I took from Dax Vos after I killed him?" he boasted, ensuring everyone nearby heard. If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation. Dax Vos, a feared law-man on Tatooine, had recently disappeared, leading many to claim they had killed him for their own notoriety. He glared at the stranger, taking a slow drag on his death-stick, and the cantina fell into a tense silence. He slowly exhaled the smoke into the stranger''s face, adding, "Well, you can''t have it ''cause you didn''t say ''please.''" Everyone erupted in laughter. Seizing his chance, Jaz lunged forward, but the stranger reacted with extraordinary speed, gripping his wrist and flinging him across the room with shocking strength. A group of Rodians stood up, aiming blasters at the naked figure. They fired, striking it multiple times, but it kept advancing, relentless. One Rodian found himself hoisted by the throat, feet dangling helplessly. With inhuman strength, the cyborg hurled him through the air. Momaw Nadon, known as "Hammerhead," sat at a nearby table, his tall, upward-bending head and two mouths giving him a distinctive appearance. As the Rodian sailed through the air, Nadon deftly snatched his drink from the table just before the unfortunate creature crashed onto it with a sickening thud. Casually, he took a sip from his glass while the cantina erupted into chaos around him, patrons scrambling to avoid the unfolding violence. Within moments, the remaining Rodians lay lifeless on the ground, their bodies scattered across the floor. Onlookers stepped back as the stranger calmly approached the unconscious slave trader and began to undress him. The cantina buzzed with whispers and exchanged glances¡ªthis was just another night in Mos Eisley. Outside, now fully clothed, the Terminator mounted Jaz''s speeder bike. It activated the on-board computer and input Anakin Skywalker''s details. The screen flickered to life, displaying an image of Anakin and his mother, Shmi, along with their location. The readout confirmed their status as slaves owned by Gardulla the Hutt. The speeder bike shot forward, narrowly missing a towering Wookiee. The creature growled, swinging his arms in anger as the bike vanished into the distance. Chapter 3 - Coruscant: The Second Terminator Arrives As night enveloped Coruscant, a brilliant blue orb suddenly materialised, casting an otherworldly glow across the nearby buildings. The dazzling flash drew the gaze of a startled security officer and a vigilant sentinel droid. The orb flickered and pulsed with energy before disappearing, unveiling a heavily built, unclothed figure crouched low. As the Terminator gradually stepped from the scorched depression, its sensors picked up two figures approaching through the dim light. "Hey! You there! State your identity and explain your presence!" the security officer yelled at the Terminator. The Terminator responded in a flat, mechanical voice, "I am here to fulfil a mission. My objective is classified." The security officer instinctively reached for his blaster, but at that very moment, the Terminator''s cold, mechanical hand violently grabbed his wrist, preventing any chance of escape.Support creative writers by reading their stories on Royal Road, not stolen versions. The officer struggled to break free, but the Terminator swiftly snatched the blaster from his grasp and aimed it at the sentinel droid, which was poised for an attack. The Terminator fired at the droid, unleashing a powerful blast, striking the target. The droid collapsed to the ground, smoke swirling around it as it sputtered and sparked. The Terminator''s steely eyes then swivelled towards the now defenceless security officer. As their gazes locked, the man''s blood ran cold, the grim reality of his situation sinking in. The last thing he saw was an engulfing darkness. The Terminator slipped into the final piece of the officer''s uniform, securing the blaster in its holster before heading to the guard''s vehicle. Inside, it activated the onboard computer and entered Sheev Palpatine''s details. The display flickered to life, revealing an image of Palpatine alongside his location¡ªan apartment in the Senate District of Coruscant. The Terminator ignited the engine, unleashing a deafening roar as it accelerated, startling a nearby tooka-cat that darted into an alleyway. The speeder lifted off with a surge, shooting into the air and merging with the bustling traffic above. Chapter 4 - Desert Ambush. Under the cover of night, the Terminator raced across the dunes on a speeder-bike, its mechanical eyes scanning the horizon for any signs of its target. The bike''s repulsors hummed quietly, kicking up a trail of sand in its wake. Womprats scurried out of the way, their beady eyes reflecting the bike''s lights as they dove for cover. From a rocky outcrop, a group of Tusken Raiders watched the intruder enter their territory, their silhouettes stark against the starry sky. These nomadic tribes, were known for their hostility towards outsiders. One Raider raised his gaffi stick, signalling to his companions. As the Terminator sped past a cluster of rocks, a Tusken sniper took aim with his cycler rifle. The shot rang out, striking the speeder-bike''s engine. Sparks flew as the vehicle careened out of control, sending the Terminator crashing into a pile of rocks. The Tuskens let out triumphant cries, echoing across the desert night. Two massive banthas lumbered near the crash site, their riders dismounting cautiously. As one Raider approached the unmoving Terminator, prodding it with his gaffi stick, the machine''s eyes flickered to life. In a lightning-fast motion, the Terminator seized the weapon, yanked itself up, and impaled the surprised Tusken. As another Raider attacked, the Terminator reacted with great speed, seizing the opponent and immobilising him indefinitely.Ensure your favorite authors get the support they deserve. Read this novel on Royal Road. The Tusken Raiders in the rocky heights, witnessing the carnage below, opened fire on the Terminator. A shot struck its chest, but the machine remained unfazed. In one fluid motion, the Terminator snatched up a fallen Raider''s cycler rifle and returned fire with deadly accuracy. Two shots rang out in quick succession. The first Raider fell backward, smoke billowing from his head wrappings. The second clutched his neck, gasping, before a follow-up blast to his leg sent him tumbling down the mountainside to his death. The night air fell silent once more, broken only by the soft whir of the Terminator''s internal mechanisms as it scanned for further threats. Its data confirmed that the area was secure. The Terminator approached the damaged speeder bike, its frame battered but still intact. Climbing onto the seat, with a series of determined twists on the throttle, the bike coughed and wheezed, refusing to start. The Terminator revved the engine once more, and this time it sputtered to life with a low growl. Gripping the handlebars tightly, it felt the familiar hum as the bike steadied. With a surge of power, the speeder shot off like a rocket into the night. Chapter 5 - Under Wattos Rule. Shmi finished her chores, grateful for the extra income they provided, but weary from the long day. She and her young son, Anakin¡ªa blonde boy with bright, curious eyes¡ªlooked out the window of the hover-bus. As she gazed into the night, a heavy sense of despair settled over her while she held Anakin in her lap, her thoughts consumed by the uncertain future that lay ahead for them both. When the bus came to a stop, Shmi stepped off, little Anakin following closely behind. She sighed, yearning for the comfort of her bed after a day filled with cleaning and repairing computer memory devices. Yet, she had promised Anakin she would help him with his pod racer. As she made her way down the familiar path to her quarters, Watto''s grating voice called out from behind her. Watto, a pot-bellied Toydarian, hovered effortlessly on his tiny wings. The shrewd merchant had recently acquired Shmi and Anakin Skywalker in a gamble with Gardulla the Hutt, bringing them to his shop where they now lived as his slaves. Watto found himself impressed with the boy Anakin, a precocious child who demonstrated an innate skill for fixing things. This young slave''s talent had quickly become an asset to Watto''s business, though the Toydarian would never admit it openly. This content has been misappropriated from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere. ¡°Hey, Shmi! Don¡¯t think you¡¯re off the hook yet! I¡¯ve got chores waiting for you!¡± he barked, his wings flapping irritably. Shmi glanced down at Anakin, her heart heavy. ¡°Oh, little Annie, I¡¯m so sorry. I wanted to help you with your pod racer, but I have more chores to finish. You can work on it for an hour, but then it¡¯s time for bed.¡± With a gentle squeeze of her son''s shoulder, Shmi turned and headed toward Watto''s workshop, leaving Anakin to continue tinkering with his prized creation. Chapter 6 - Attack on Palpatine. In the dim light of the training chamber, Darth Maul faced a menacing training droid, his red lightsaber humming. SIdious lurked in the depths of darkness, his face appearing sinister, faintly illuminated by the red glow of the lightsaber."Channel your hatred," his voice echoed as Maul thrust forward with ferocious speed. The droid whirred to life, its sensors locking onto the young Sith apprentice, unleashing a barrage of blaster fire. Maul deflected each bolt effortlessly, his movements a blur as he closed in on his mechanical opponent. "Now, strike it down!" Sidious commanded, his eyes gleaming with malevolent approval. Fuelled by rage, Maul unleashed a flurry of devastating attacks, his lightsaber carving through the droid''s defences. With a final, powerful lunge, he impaled the droid''s central processor, watching as sparks erupted from it. As the droid collapsed in a heap of twisted metal, Sidious''s malevolent laughter reverberated through the chamber, filling the air with an unsettling chill. The Terminator brought the vehicle to a halt, having arrived at his destination. He surveyed the gleaming tower before him¡ªPalpatine''s apartment was located on the top floor. His optical sensors scanned the building methodically, identifying potential entry points and security measures. The Terminator detected several guards, two at the main entrance, one patrolling the perimeter, and another visible through a high window. The Terminator swiftly devised a strategy. The machine prepared its arsenal, ensuring its weapons were primed for the mission ahead. It checked its plasma rifle, verifying its charge. The blaster pistol was holstered securely at its side, ready for quick access if needed, and the vibroblade was firmly secured in its sheath. The Terminator stepped out of the vehicle, ready to carry out its plan of action. Sidious, resuming his guise as Palpatine, sat in his meditation chamber, deep in concentration. Through the dark side of the Force, he sensed a familiar presence - the essence of Anakin Skywalker, a child whose very existence he had influenced. He was born of the Force. This novel is published on a different platform. Support the original author by finding the official source. Anakin''s conception was the result of Palpatine''s experiments with Midi-chlorians, conducted alongside his former master, Darth Plagueis the Wise¡ªthough not wise enough to foresee his own death, Palpatine mused. A vision flashed before Palpatine''s mind''s eye, revealing the boy''s incredible power and potential. He saw Anakin as a key to destroying the Jedi Order and securing his own galactic rule. The vision showed a dark figure in a helmet - Anakin''s future self. This glimpse of Anakin''s destiny had driven Palpatine to murder Plagueis, recognising the boy as the perfect apprentice. Now, a sinister smile crossed Palpatine''s face. He also devised a plan to dispose of Darth Maul, once Anakin was ready to take his place, perceiving that his current apprentice lacked the necessary power to be a true rival and would ultimately be a liability in his grand scheme of ruling the galaxy. Suddenly he felt a great disturbance in the Force. His eyes snapped open as a vision flashed before him, a shadowy figure gunning down Anakin, accompanied by a metallic, grimacing skull. As the vision faded, he sensed that his own life was now in imminent danger. A distant shot reverberated through the halls, followed by muffled screams. Palpatine swiftly emerged from his meditation chamber. More shots erupted, growing increasingly louder. Four elite guards in gleaming blue armour sprang into action. Two flanked Palpatine protectively, while the others took up strategic positions near the door, weapons at the ready. A few more shots rang out, accompanied by faint footsteps outside the room drawing nearer. Then, an eerie silence. Two of Palpatine''s elite guards swiftly escorted the Emperor toward a concealed escape route. As they escaped through the hidden doorway, the main entrance suddenly burst open, and a Terminator entered, only to be intercepted by the two guards. The corridor erupted with blaster fire and shattering furniture as Palpatine fled. Outside, he and his guards swiftly boarded a speeder. As they lifted off, Palpatine glimpsed the Terminator emerging unscathed from the building. Chapter 7 - Aerial Assault: The Terminators Target Palpatine''s speeder joined with the heavy traffic in the sky, and for a moment, he felt safe. However, his relief was short-lived as he spotted a speeder manoeuvring through the congestion, closing in on him with alarming speed. The guard piloting the speeder executed a sharp dive to a lower altitude, but the Terminator mirrored the move. They attempted to shake off their pursuer, but Palpatine''s speeder lacked the necessary speed. Suddenly, the Terminator caught up, slamming into the side of Palpatine''s vehicle with a violent clash. The guard fired at the Terminator, hitting the side of its speeder. The impact caused the Terminator to swerve sharply, and it crashed into the side of Palpatine''s vehicle once more. A massive cargo ship loomed before them. Palpatine''s speeder narrowly swerved to avoid collision, the guard''s expert piloting saving them from disaster. Heart racing, Palpatine glanced behind, hoping the Terminator had been lost in the heavy traffic. His relief was short-lived as the relentless machine emerged from behind another speeder, still in hot pursuit. As the Terminator closed in, it unexpectedly leaped from its vehicle, vanishing from view. A loud thud resonated from the roof of Palpatine''s speeder¡ªthe Terminator had landed atop their vehicle. Palpatine could hear it moving about overhead. One of Palpatine''s guards leaned out to fire at the Terminator, managing a few blasts before being suddenly yanked through the side window. A moment later, the guard''s body was hurled into the distance, spinning away into the bustling traffic of vehicles zipping through the sky. The guard piloting the speeder shouted to Palpatine to hold on as he flipped the vehicle inverted in a desperate attempt to throw the Terminator off the top. Now flying upside down, the speeder narrowly swerved past another vehicle. Suddenly, a fist punched through the side window, and the Terminator seized the guard. Struggling to control the vehicle while in the machine''s grip, the guard desperately reached for his blaster. In a swift motion, he managed to grab the weapon and fire point-blank at the Terminator''s face. The Terminator¡¯s head recoiled with the impact but still managed to cling to the side of the speeder. However, the Terminator had taken damage, and part of its face was missing, exposing a gleaming metal skull and a menacing glowing red eye. The Terminator swivelled its head to face Palpatine, who clung to the back seat for dear life as the speeder righted itself. The Terminator leaned halfway through the window, raising its plasma rifle and taking aim at Palpatine. Just then, the guard piloting the speeder veered sharply to the left. The sudden maneuver caused the machine''s shot to go wide, narrowly missing Palpatine by mere inches and leaving a smoking hole in the back seat. The pilot fired a few more shots at the Terminator, but the machine reacted with lightning speed. It grabbed the guard, twisting his neck with a sickening snap. As the guard''s lifeless body slumped, the Terminator attempted to climb into the speeder. Suddenly, the vehicle, now without a pilot, careened out of control and slammed into a nearby vehicle. The impact sent the speeder into a wild spin as it plummeted towards the ground below.Unauthorized duplication: this narrative has been taken without consent. Report sightings. Palpatine used the Force to create a protective shield around him just as the speeder violently crashed into the ground. The screeching of metal filled the air, and sparks flew from the sides of the vehicle. The speeder came to an abrupt, violent halt as it crashed into a barrier. Palpatine wrestled with the speeder''s door as he tried to escape. Finally, he managed to wrench it open and stumble out, his legs unsteady beneath him. Still dazed from the crash, he looked around, but the Terminator was nowhere in sight. Palpatine sat on the floor, his mind racing. Who was this attacker? Why was there an assassination attempt on his life? Through the Force, he sensed Anakin was also in danger from a similar assailant. He focused on his hatred, sharpening his connection to the dark side. Suddenly, he felt a presence behind him. Instinctively, Palpatine spun around, activating his lightsaber. In one swift motion, he sliced off the Terminator''s arm as it reached for him. The severed metal limb clattered to the ground, its fingers still twitching. The damaged Terminator, now grotesque with remnants of flesh hanging off its metal skeleton, unleashed a barrage of shots at Palpatine. Reacting quickly, Palpatine deflected the incoming shots with his lightsaber. However, while focused on the laser fire, the Terminator spun around and landed a powerful kick on him, sending him sprawling backward. Palpatine lay on the ground as the Terminator advanced, its metallic skull resembling the one from his vision. He searched for his lightsaber, knowing he could summon it with the Force, but it was too far away¡ªby the time he retrieved it, the relentless machine would be upon him. Palpatine''s options dwindled as he faced the relentless cyborg. Suddenly, rage consumed him, pure hatred filled him. He refused to be bested by a machine. He was a Sith Lord. With a snarl, he thrust his hands forward, unleashing a surge of Force lightning from his fingertips. The crackling energy engulfed the Terminator, causing it to convulse violently on the floor. Palpatine rose from the ground, a mixture of surprise and exhilaration coursing through him. He had only heard of Force lightning but never mastered it¡ªuntil now. With new-found confidence, he strode towards the Terminator, unleashing another surge of crackling energy, and the more anger he felt, the stronger the lightning became. The Terminator shook violently as its circuits fried, smoke billowing from its metallic skull, and soon its red eyes dimmed to black¡ªthe machine was no more. Palpatine gazed down at the smoking Terminator, occasional sparks still flickering from its body. This was undoubtedly the machine from his vision. He knew he had to act quickly¡ªthe other machine would surely be hunting down Anakin. He couldn''t allow his future prodigy to be assassinated and jeopardise everything he had meticulously planned. Palpatine activated his holocommunicator, summoning Darth Maul. The Sith apprentice materialised as a shimmering blue hologram, his sinister visage illuminated by an eerie glow. Leaning forward, Palpatine commanded, ¡°Travel to Tatooine immediately. Protect a boy named Anakin Skywalker, and eliminate any threats. Do what must be done, my young apprentice.¡± Maul''s yellow eyes gleamed with malice as he bowed his horned head. ¡°It shall be done, my Master,¡± he replied in a low, guttural tone. Darth Maul hurriedly boarded his sleek Sith Infiltrator, the engines roaring to life as he set a course for Tatooine. He initiated the hyperspace jump and accelerated into the vastness of space. Chapter 8 - The Tatooine Marauders Tatooine''s harsh landscape stretched endlessly, with rolling and jagged rock formations jutting from the arid ground. Amidst this desolation, the Terminator''s speeder bike sputtered and coughed, its engine finally giving up as it raced across the landscape, before stuttering to a complete stop. The Terminator dismounted the speeder bike and scanned the horizon. Its sensors detected a deep dark crevice in the sand nearby, illuminated by the many moons above. Suddenly, out of the silence, a low rumbling noise emerged, accompanied by rowdy jeering and hollering. Just beyond a sand dune, a cloud of dust billowed as a large bantha thundered forward, pursued by three sleek swoop vehicles, their engines roaring like krayt dragons. The swoops, painted in vibrant colours and adorned with the Marauders'' insignia¡ªa stylised skull and crossbones of a rancor¡ªwere low to the ground and equipped with powerful thrusters that propelled them forward. The riders, clad in leather and scavenged armour, leaned into the wind, their laughter and taunts echoing across the dunes as they chased the frightened bantha. These machines belonged to the infamous outlaw biker gang known as the Tatooine Marauders. The Marauders'' focus shifted from the fleeing bantha to the Terminator. They had found a new target to torment. The marauders circled the Terminator on their swoops, kicking up clouds of sand as they whooped and yelled with evil malice. Their exuberance was cut short as the Terminator aimed its blaster at one of the swoops and fired. The vehicle exploded into a fireball, launching the Marauder into the air. Before the biker could land, the Terminator fired another shot, killing him instantly. The Marauder''s lifeless body dropped limply to the sandy ground. The other biker roared up to the Terminator, swinging a spiked mace above his head. With violent force, he brought it down, striking the side of the Terminator''s head and knocking it off its feet. The Marauder jeered and laughed maniacally as his biker friend unsaddled a blaster rifle from the side of his swoop''s frame. The Terminator sat up, its vision momentarily scrambled as its CPU registered some damage. Blood trickled down the side of its head. The other biker raced toward it, a toothless grin spreading across his dirty face, blaster rifle aimed directly at the Terminator. This narrative has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. If you see it on Amazon, please report it. As the biker let off a shot, the Terminator rolled out of the way, crouching into attack position, unholstering its weapon, and blasting the biker in the chest with two quick rapid rounds. The biker fell backward off the swoop, and the rumbling vehicle sped forward, tumbling into the gaping hole in the sand. ¡°You¡¯re bantha meat!¡± the other biker shouted, swinging the spiked mace again, preparing for another strike. This time, the Terminator was ready. He leaped into the air with a flying kick, sending the biker tumbling off his swoop. The swoops''s engine sputtered and died, coming to a halt near the cavernous black hole in the sand. The Terminator approached the biker, terror in his eyes. "Please don''t hurt me," he pleaded, lying on the ground with his hands raised in front of him. As he looked up at the Terminator, he noticed that half of its face was metallic¡ªit was a machine. The biker screamed, "You stay away from me!" Just as the Terminator was about to reach out and end the Marauder''s life, a massive tentacle shot out from behind. It wrapped around the Terminator''s body, yanking it backward and dragging it towards the deep endless void. Another appendage snaked out, ensnaring the swoop and pulling it along towards the spike-filled pit. The Marauder laughed hysterically. "It got you!" he screamed in delight. "The Sarlacc got you!" His laughter was abruptly cut short as another tentacle shot out from the hole, wrapping around his leg and dragging him toward the abyss. "Noooo!" he screamed, frantically searching for a weapon, but finding none. His eyes widened in terror as he was pulled closer and closer to the gaping darkness. For a moment, there was silence. Then faint laser blasts erupted, casting a hazy blue light that illuminated the gaping hole. A few more blasts echoed through the air, followed by silence once again. Then, a silhouette appeared at the edge of the pit. The Terminator hauled itself out. As it emerged, another tentacle lashed out, grasping for it. Without hesitation, the Terminator fired at the grotesque appendage. The tentacle swiftly retreated into the darkness of the hole. The Terminator rose to its feet, checking itself for damage. The injuries were minor and would not impede its mission. Scanning the area for transportation, the Terminator noted that one of the swoops was too damaged to be functional, while the other two had been swallowed by the Sarlacc pit. Suddenly, a large shadow loomed over the Terminator, followed by a low bellow. The Terminator glanced up to see a massive beast¡ªit was a bantha. The machine climbed up the shaggy creature, pulling itself onto the bantha''s back. The Terminator now had its transport. Chapter 9 - Gardulla the Hutts Palace The massive, woolly bantha plodded through the desert, its rider vigilant. The Terminator''s eyes swept the landscape, analysing every detail. Suddenly, the locator in its pocket emitted a sharp beep. Retrieving the device, the Terminator confirmed its position. The target was near. Looming ahead was an imposing palace, its stone and plaster walls stretching wide across the barren terrain. A high perimeter wall encircled the compound, and at its centre stood a grand entrance, guarded by two immense, tightly sealed doors. Riding the bantha close to one of the tall walls, the Terminator stood up on its back and leapt into the air, grabbing the top of the wall. The machine hoisted itself up quietly, and as it peered over the wall, it saw a sprawling courtyard within the palace grounds. Several guards loitered about, some lounging while others laughed and drank Corellian Ale, blissfully unaware of the intruder observing them. The Terminator surveyed the palace and identified a potential access point. It decided to use stealth instead of confronting the guards, knowing that an attack would likely alert anyone nearby and jeopardise the mission. Carefully assessing the surroundings, the Terminator dropped down quietly from the top of the wall, landing in a less visible area of the courtyard. The Terminator moved stealthily through the shadows, inching closer to an arched window. A guard slouched in a chair, half inebriated, his feet propped up and eyes half-closed, barely aware of his surroundings. The Terminator approached silently from behind, swiftly twisting the guard''s neck with a sharp crack. The Terminator shifted its focus to a small arched window fitted with a wooden shutter, identifying it as the weakest access point. With a swift motion, it yanked the shutter open and climbed inside, disappearing into the darkness beyond. Inside, with the Hutt crime lord away on business, the guards had grown complacent. In a dimly lit corner, four Nikto guards huddled around a game of chance, their attention fixed on the dice clattering across the floor. The winner let out a triumphant roar, his scaled hands reaching eagerly for the pile of credits. However, his celebration was abruptly interrupted as a powerful grip seized him from behind. The Terminator plunged a vibroblade into the reptilian guard''s back, silencing his victory cry and replacing it with a gurgled gasp. The remaining three guards scrambled to their feet, fumbling for weapons. Their movements were sluggish, dulled by the Corellian ale they''d been drinking all day. The Terminator dispatched the guards one by one, leaving their lifeless bodies crumpled on the floor. Moving silently, the machine advanced toward a vast throne room. Inside, it revealed a space filled with various alien creatures. Most were scattered about, caught in different states of slumber¡ªsprawled on the floor or slumped in chairs. Atop a grand pedestal sat the throne, occupied by Gardulla''s Majordomo. The high-ranking assistant was a corpulent Twi''lek, one of his lekku visibly scarred. His eyelids drooped heavily as he fought a losing battle against inebriation. Finally succumbing, he slumped backward, his drinking horn tumbling from limp fingers. The vessel''s contents spilled across the pedestal as the Majordomo collapsed in a drunken slumber.Enjoying this book? Seek out the original to ensure the author gets credit. At the far end, the Terminator''s optical sensors detected Figrin D''an and the Modal Nodes, a band of musicians with distinctive bulbous heads, quietly packing their instruments as they prepared to leave for the night. The Terminator¡¯s optical sensors conducted a detailed scan of the room, identifying twenty targets. However, Anakin was not among them. The data suggested that intoxicated individuals might display unpredictable behaviour and heightened aggression. Consequently, the optimal strategy was to avoid combat, moving forward with stealth to the next location and engaging only if absolutely necessary. The Terminator lingered in the shadows of the entrance, watching as the band departed. It then quietly navigated through the throne room, carefully stepping around the snoring lifeforms toward one of the entryways on the other side. Weazel stood outside Gardulla''s bedroom, having planned this heist for a long time. He studied the control panel beside the door and, with great skill, disarmed the alarm and hot-wired the electronic lock, bypassing the security systems with specialised tools. The door opened invitingly. With his small, compact, squat frame, Weazel crept silently into Gardulla''s opulent bedroom, the dim light glinting off the treasures scattered throughout the room. His eyes gleamed with greed as he spotted the glimmering jewels piled carelessly on a velvet cushion. He began to sift through the sparkling collection, pocketing as many valuable pieces as he could fit into his pockets and toolbox. He came across a rare gemstone and tried to stuff it into his pocket, but it was already overfilled. In a moment of desperate inspiration, he popped the precious stone into his mouth. It was shaping up to be a good night, but now it was time to escape with his fortune. As Weazel turned to leave, his heart racing with a mixture of fear and excitement, he found himself face-to-face with a towering, muscular figure. The stranger''s hand moved swiftly, producing a gleaming vibroblade. Weazel''s jaw dropped in shock, and the precious gemstone tumbled from his mouth, clattering to the floor. "Please, don''t kill me," Weazel pleaded, his voice quavering. "Take it all." The Terminator paused, its optical sensors focused on Weazel, initiating an immediate threat assessment: [SCAN COMPLETE] TARGET: Humanoid THREAT LEVEL: Minimal PHYSICAL CAPABILITIES: Below average WEAPONRY: None detected CONCLUSION: Subject is a non-threatening life form with no combat capability. Weazel continued to plead for his life. "There''s more. I''ll give you anything you want." "Where are Shmi and Anakin Skywalker?" the Terminator demanded, its voice devoid of emotion. Weazel swallowed hard, his throat dry. "They''re not here. Watto owns them now." As the Terminator advanced, Weazel hastily added, "They''re at Watto''s scrapyard!" The Terminator stepped forward, bending down to face Weazel. "The navicomputer located them as being here." "The navicomputer is wrong," Weazel insisted. "I know Watto, and he recently won Shmi and Anakin in a bet. He has them now." The Terminator analysed Weazel''s voice and detected no deceit in his tone. Weazel squeezed his eyes shut, expecting death. He reflected on what should have been a perfect heist had taken a disastrous turn. He braced himself for the worst but instead heard retreating footsteps. Weazel bent down to retrieve the rare gem from the floor. Cautiously, he peered through the doorway, but the menacing stranger had vanished. Not wanting to test his luck, Weazel decided it was time for him to disappear as well. Outside, the Terminator commandeered a landspeeder and programmed Watto''s scrapyard into the navigation computer. A map flickered to life, pinpointing the exact location with a bright marker. With a low hum, the landspeeder roared to life, and the Terminator sped off, leaving the palace behind. Chapter 10 - Maul鈥檚 Arrival The Sith Infiltrator''s engines hummed as it touched down on the desert surface, kicking up a swirl of sand. With a hiss, the ship''s ramp extended, revealing the imposing figure of Darth Maul silhouetted against the dim interior lights. Behind him, a cluster of spherical probe droids hovered, their sensors already scanning the environment. Maul stepped onto Tatooine''s sandy terrain, his black robes flowing in the cool night breeze. His yellow eyes, glowing with malevolence, surveyed the desolate landscape. With a subtle gesture of his gloved hand, he dispatched the probe droids. The metallic spheres shot off in various directions, their repulsors barely audible as they disappeared into the darkness, each tasked with locating Anakin Skywalker. As the last droid vanished from sight, Maul''s lips curled into a sinister smile. The hunt had begun. Shmi dragged an old control panel to the scrapyard, wincing at another twinge in her lower back. She paused to wipe the sweat from her brow when a sudden gust of wind swept over her. Glancing up, she spotted a spherical object hovering nearby. A light flashed briefly before the strange device darted away. Shmi furrowed her brow, puzzled by the unfamiliar droid. Another jolt of pain in her back snapped her attention back to her surroundings. "Finally," she thought, relief washing over her as she realised all the chores were complete. She turned out the lights and headed towards her slave quarters, eager for a moment''s rest after the long day''s labour. Just as she was about to leave, she heard the fluttering of wings. Turning around, she saw Watto''s disapproving expression, his hands firmly on his hips. "And where do you think you''re going?" he demanded. She looked at Watto wearily, lacking the energy to argue or question him. "I was about to go to my quarters," she said tiredly. "I have no time for slackers," he said angrily. "I have one more thing I need you to do."Support the author by searching for the original publication of this novel. "Can I put Annie to bed first, please?" she asked wearily. "Sure," he replied with a smirk, "but don''t take too long. I have guests, and I plan to make a fortune off them." Watto grinned, his mood quickly shifting from amusement to anger. "So be quick!" he snapped. Anakin was still diligently working on his pod racer when Shmi called out, "Come on, Annie, it''s time for bed!" "Aww, Mom, can I just calibrate the thrusters first?" he begged. "No, Annie. Get dressed for bed now," she replied, her patience wearing thin. "I''m not asking you again." Anakin got changed into his night clothes, and climbed into bed, his eyes bright with excitement. "Mom, my pod racer''s gonna be the best! When I win a race, we''ll have enough money to buy our freedom!" Shmi smiled softly, stroking his hair. "Oh, Annie. Those races are too dangerous. We''ll be free one day, but not like that." "But Mom..." Anakin began to protest. "Shh," she soothed. "Close your eyes now. It''s time to sleep." "Okay," he mumbled, already drifting off. Shmi kissed his forehead gently, then quietly left the room. She sighed, heading back to finish Watto''s chores, hoping this would be the last of them tonight. She was exhausted, and she longed for rest. The probe droid returned to Darth Maul, who had been waiting impatiently. With the location now confirmed, he entered his ship and mounted his crescent-shaped Sith Speeder, the Bloodfin, before taking off at full speed toward Watto''s scrapyard, the hum of the speeder echoing around him. In Watto''s kitchen, Shmi prepared food and drinks for his guests. The sounds of gambling echoed from another room, with chips clattering and Watto''s shouts of triumph and frustration punctuating the air. "I''ll take every credit you''ve got, Sebulba. You can bet on it!" Watto boasted gleefully. Sebulba bared his sharp teeth and flexed his muscular arm. "Shut your mouth, bantha poodoo," he growled menacingly before returning his focus to the cards. Watto gulped nervously and quickly changed the subject, ¡°Shmi, bring another round for my guests!" he ordered. Shmi sighed. The greedy, temperamental Toydarian had won her and Anakin in a bet, and she knew all too well that he could sell her at any moment. This uncertainty weighed heavily on her mind. Despite Watto''s mean-spirited nature, she recognised that her situation could be far worse under a different owner. Her last owner, Gardulla the Hutt, had been particularly unpleasant. This thought intensified her ongoing anxiety about the future, prompting her to work hard to stay in Watto¡¯s good graces. Chapter 11 - The Cybernetic Menace. The Terminator arrived at Watto''s scrapyard, dismounting from its speeder as it surveyed the expansive untidy yard filled with discarded machinery and droid parts, illuminated by flickering overhead lights that cast elongated shadows across the sandy floor. The Terminator approached a power generator, its sensors calculating the tactical advantage of cutting off the power. In darkness, its advanced night vision would give it a significant edge. With mechanical precision, it grasped the rusted door of the generator cabinet and wrenched it off its hinges. The metal groaned in protest before giving way. Scanning the tangle of cables within, the Terminator''s CPU quickly identified the main power lines. Its hand hovered over the wires, ready to plunge the area into darkness. Watto glanced at his gambling companions, irritation evident in his voice. "Where is that woman?" he demanded. "Shmi!" he shouted impatiently, "drinks!" In the stifling kitchen quarters, Shmi wiped sweat from her brow. Despite the presence of air conditioning, Watto kept it off to save credits. As she reached for his cheap Kowakian Rum, the shop was suddenly plunged into darkness. The sounds of gambling abruptly ceased. "Shmi!" Watto shouted angrily, his voice carrying through the darkness. "The power generator''s out again. Fix it!" He then warned his fellow gamblers, "And no cheating! I''m on a winning streak." Watto added a lie, "Toydarians can see in the dark, so I''ll know if anyone tries it." Shmi fumbled through the darkness as she made her way outside to the generator in the scrapyard. To her surprise, she found the door had been forcefully ripped off, with smoke billowing from inside. Suddenly, she heard Anakin screaming. Startled, she rushed back to her quarters; the power generator could wait. Watto waited impatiently, his frustration growing. "What''s taking her so long?" he complained. "Why I keep her, I don''t know. I treat her well, I give her..." His grumbling was abruptly cut short by a thunderous crash as the door was violently smashed open. In the darkness, Watto''s eyes widened with terror as he glimpsed a single, ominous red light. Two sudden flashes illuminated the room, accompanied by the sharp sounds of a blaster. The loud thud of bodies hitting the floor followed as two of his gambling buddies collapsed, dead. The remaining gamblers and Watto fled, stumbling in the pitch black, desperately seeking cover. Watto managed to hide behind a large tool cabinet on the other side of the room, his eyes fixed on a dim strip of light emanating from a slightly open door. The Terminator''s red digital vision scanned the room. As it analysed the environment, a cross-hair moved methodically across the space, the eerie glow of its red eye cutting through the shadows and heightening the tension. Its sensors picked up the fluttering of Watto''s wings. As the Terminator closed in, Watto made a frantic dash for the door. His tiny wings flapped furiously, fuelled by fear and adrenaline, as he narrowly dodged laser blasts that followed him. Bursting outside, Watto didn''t dare pause or look back. He quickly ducked behind a pile of scrap metal, his small heart pounding wildly in his chest. Pale moonlight spilled into the room, casting an eerie glow on the Terminator as it surveyed its surroundings. Zylox, a Rodian with large eyes, blinked in the shadows. Unable to bear the tension any longer, he stepped out from behind a cabinet and aimed his blaster at the glowing red-eyed figure. The laser blast lit up the room. Though the Terminator was hit, it swiftly returned fire, sending Zylox crashing into the table. Gambling chips and credits tumbled to the ground in a noisy cascade.Stolen content warning: this content belongs on Royal Road. Report any occurrences. Quiveran, a nervous-looking green-scaled alien, huddled in the shadows. As Sebulba approached his hiding spot, Quiveran raised a taloned finger to his lips, silently urging him away. Ignoring the warning, Sebulba attempted to squeeze into the cramped space beside him. In doing so, he knocked over an object, creating a loud clatter that instantly drew the Terminator''s attention. In a desperate move, Sebulba grabbed Quiveran, using the terrified alien as a shield. The Terminator fired without hesitation, its shots striking Quiveran and ending his life instantly. Seizing the moment, Sebulba used his powerful arms to hurl Quiveran''s lifeless body at the Terminator. The machine swiftly raised its blaster and fired a couple of rounds, obliterating the corpse, and sending it crashing into a nearby wall. Taking advantage of this brief distraction, Sebulba bolted towards the open door. The Terminator spun around to pursue, but Sebulba had already vanished into the darkness. The machine continued its search for Anakin. Shmi rushed to Anakin''s bedroom, her heart pounding. She found him in the darkness, cowering in the corner, sweat beading on his brow. "Anakin, what''s wrong?" she asked, her voice filled with concern. "I had a dream," he replied, trembling. "A mechanical man was chasing me, trying to kill me." "Oh, Anakin," she sighed, relief washing over her. "It was just a nightmare." She sat beside him, gently dabbing the perspiration from his forehead. Meanwhile, the Terminator methodically searched each room for its target. Upon encountering a locked door, it aimed its weapon at the control panel and fired. The blast echoed through the building as the door slid open with a hiss. The Terminator walked inside scanning the room for its target. The sound of the laser blast jolted Shmi, sending her into a panic. An intruder was in one of the rooms¡ªperhaps someone to whom Watto owed money, or maybe one of the disgruntled gamblers. Whoever it was, they were armed and clearly not friendly. "Anakin, hide!" she warned, her voice urgent but hushed. Cautiously peering into the hallway, she strained to see through the darkness. Suddenly, a solitary red eye gleamed at the far end of the corridor. Fear gripped her as she hit the button on the control panel, and the door whooshed shut, frantically engaging the lock. Shmi summoned all her strength to push Anakin''s bed in front of the door, hoping it would buy her some time to escape. But how? Her eyes darted around the room, glancing at the high window, a desperate plan formed in her mind. "Anakin, quick, come here!" "It''s the mechanical man I told you about," Anakin whispered, his eyes wide with apprehension. Shmi dragged a heavy chest across the room, positioning it directly under the window. She activated the control, but the window only opened halfway before shuddering to a stop. The gap was enough for Anakin but too small for her. Standing on the chest, she lifted Anakin without hesitation and pushed him through the opening. He dropped to the sandy ground outside. "Hurry, Mom!" Anakin beckoned urgently. Shmi tried to squeeze through the gap, but it was too narrow. Suddenly, the door shook with violent banging as the Terminator attempted to break through. "I can''t get through," she exclaimed, panic rising in her voice. "Anakin, run!" "No, Mom!" Anakin cried, torn between obedience and fear for his mother. "Go, Anakin! I''ll be right behind you. Now go, find a place to hide!" With tears in his eyes, Anakin did as his mother ordered, and ran looking for a place to hide. Shmi frantically shoved against the window, but it was jammed. Watto was too cheap to get anything repaired. If she''d known about the faulty window, she could have had Anakin fix it. Her thoughts were interrupted by the sound of blaster shots outside the room, sending her heart racing. Peering through the dirty glass, she spotted Watto across the yard, his wings fluttering in distress. She called out to him for help across the scrapyard. The frightened Toydarian, still shaken from his own close call, ignored her pleas and fluttered toward the exit, leaving Shmi to face the impending threat alone. The crash of the door startled Shmi, making her spin around. The Terminator attempted to enter the room, but the bed blocked the way. With a loud screech, the cyborg began pushing the door and the bed forward. With a powerful shove, it toppled the bed and stepped inside. It fired at Shmi, but she slipped on the smooth surface of the chest, causing the shot to miss and shatter the window instead. With the frame now completely destroyed, she could easily slip through the opening. Shmi scrambled to her feet and climbed through the shattered window, a barrage of laser blasts erupting behind her. As she made her escape, a searing pain shot through her leg, as she fell to the ground outside¡ªshe had been hit. Chapter 12 - An unlikely protector The laser blast had seared her flesh, leaving a cauterised wound that stopped her from bleeding. Despite her determination, the intense, burning pain proved too much, and her leg buckled beneath her, sending her crumpling to the ground. She dragged herself across the floor, each movement sending waves of agony through her body. Glancing back, she saw the Terminator climbing through the window. It moved closer to her, blaster drawn. Shmi braced herself for the inevitable. Seeing his mum in danger, Anakin screamed ,¡°Mom!¡±. The Terminator spun around abruptly, its optical sensors locking onto the small child¡ªits primary target. Disregarding Shmi entirely, the machine swiftly advanced toward Anakin. ¡°¡°No!¡± Shmi shouted, her heart racing. ¡°Annie! Run! Get out of here!¡± The Terminator¡¯s red cross-hair focused on the boy''s head, its blaster aimed and ready to fire. Anakin froze in fear. Without warning, a thunderous barrage of blasts rang out, as a dark-cloaked figure on a speeder unleashed fire upon the Terminator. Each hit sent the machine reeling violently. The relentless bombardment finally toppled the Terminator, sending it crashing to the ground. Smoke began to rise from its damaged frame. A wave of relief washed over Shmi; the cyborg seemed destroyed. However, her relief was short-lived. To her horror, the Terminator suddenly sat up again, its red eye flickering back to life. The Sith-speeder swooped around, its engines roaring as it prepared for another deadly assault, but this time the Terminator was prepared. As the speeder unleashed more shots, the machine rolled out of the way and seized a rusty engine from the ground. With super strength, it hurled the engine at the approaching vehicle. The projectile struck its target, forcing Maul to abandon the speeder. He executed a flawless somersault through the air, landing gracefully on his feet. The Terminator picked up a large steel rod, and swung it at Maul, sending the Sith sprawling against a nearby metal wall. Stunned, Maul struggled to regain his senses. The cyborg followed up with a powerful kick, launching Maul across the scrapyard where he hit the dusty ground hard near Anakin. Turning its attention to the boy, the Terminator opened fire. Anakin reflexively dodged the laser blasts with surprising speed. Maul watched, astonished by the boy''s agility. He sensed Anakin''s strength in the Force and began to wonder about the child''s significance and why Palpatine had sent him to protect him. The Terminator locked onto Anakin, its target acquired. As it prepared to fire, a lightsaber swiftly descended, severing the Terminator''s arm at the elbow. The dismembered metalic limb fell with a thud, its hand still clutching the blaster. The machine pivoted to face Darth Maul, who was poised to strike again. With lightning speed, the Terminator''s undamaged arm seized Maul and hurled him across the yard. Maul quickly regained his footing, but the cyborg delivered another swift, powerful blow sending Maul flying once more. His lightsaber spun through the air, showering sparks as it struck a nearby wall before clattering to the ground. Anakin, heart racing, darted behind a massive Tank filled with volatile liquid. The Terminator''s mechanical eyes scanned the area, searching for its target. As the boy peered out from his hiding spot, the machine spotted him and began to advance. Shmi struggled to stand, desperate to reach her son, but searing pain overwhelmed her. She lost her balance and collapsed, watching helplessly as the Terminator neared Anakin''s hiding spot. Maul, regaining his senses, quickly assessed the situation. Spotting the Terminator advancing towards Anakin, he leaped high into the air, summoning his lightsaber with the Force. Landing between the machine and its target, Maul attempted to ignite his weapon. However, only sparks flickered from the hilt as the realisation struck him¡ªthe kyber crystals had been damaged.Unauthorized content usage: if you discover this narrative on Amazon, report the violation. Acting quickly as the Terminator swung a punch, Maul ducked and executed a spinning kick, connecting with the machine''s metal head. The impact sent a jolt of pain through his foot, reminding him of his disadvantage. Without his lightsaber, he realised he needed to change his strategy for this hand-to-hand combat. As the fierce battle raged on, Anakin glanced at his mother, who was struggling to rise from the floor. "Mom!" he shouted, starting to sprint toward her from behind the large container. However, he halted abruptly as Maul and the Terminator suddenly blocked his path, still locked in combat. The Terminator threw another punch, but Maul, strong with the dark side of the Force, was too quick. He executed a back-flip, putting himself out of the machine''s reach. As the Terminator charged headlong at him, the athletic Sith leapt high into the air, sailing over his opponent. Unable to halt its momentum, the Terminator crashed head-first into a large tank containing the highly flammable liquid. The impact of its metal skull against the tank''s surface created a spark, triggering a massive explosion that hurled Maul and Anakin through the air. Maul slammed into the ground hard but quickly used the Force to cushion Anakin''s fall. Despite this effort, the boy still struck the ground with enough impact to knock him out cold. Shrapnel rained down as the aftermath of the explosion showered the area. A large metal beam crashed down onto Maul, pinning him to the ground and sending a surge of pain through his body. Shmi struggled to move away from the intense heat of the flames. Through the scorching fire, she spotted a figure moving in the inferno. To her horror, the Terminator emerged from the blaze, its metal face contorted into a menacing grimace as it dragged its damaged legless body toward Anakin''s unconscious form. Maul watched helplessly as the Terminator advanced toward Anakin. Trapped beneath the crushing weight of metal debris, he struggled to free himself from the prison that held him to the ground. Shmi watched in horror as the Terminator crawled closer to her son. She frantically looked around for a weapon, her gaze fell on the cyborg''s detached hand lying on the floor, still clutching a blaster. Summoning every ounce of strength, she forced herself to move, pushing through the searing pain in her leg. Thick smoke filled the air, causing her to cough and her eyes to burn. The acrid fumes enveloped her, forcing her eyes shut against the irritation. Despite the challenging conditions, she reached for the severed hand, struggling to pry the weapon from its unyielding grip. The Terminator, now just inches away from Anakin, moved with terrifying speed. Its trembling metallic hand reached for the boy''s ankle, glowing red eyes gleaming as its metal skull contorted into a sinister scowl. As a breeze momentarily cleared the smoke, Shmi rubbed her eyes and opened them to see the Terminator grasping Anakin''s ankle. She screamed and fired the blaster, but it was out of charge. "No!" she cried. Suddenly, the metallic beam that had trapped Maul hurtled through the air, slamming into the Terminator and pinning it beneath its heavy weight. Maul, having grown more powerful in the dark side, had channelled his anger into focus. This new-found strength allowed him to lift and throw the metallic scrap at the cyborg. Maul struggled to his feet, using a steel rod as a makeshift cane, and began limping towards them. The Terminator squirmed beneath the wreckage, still determined to reach Anakin. Maul, now towering over the Terminator, channelled his dark power as he raised the rod high above his head. With a tremendous display of strength, he brought it crashing down upon the machine''s skull. The impact sent shock-waves through the air, accompanied by a cacophony of screeching metal and a dazzling shower of sparks. The Terminator''s systems faltered under the devastating blow, its once-smooth movements becoming erratic and jerky as its menacing red eyes flickered. The advanced processor struggled to cope with the extensive damage, causing its motions to stutter. As the red eyes dimmed to darkness, the machine was no more; its outstretched hand, mere inches from Anakin, slowly lowered. The metallic fingers that had once been poised to seize the boy now hung lifelessly at its side. The smoke rose from the Terminator''s damaged frame, accompanied by the occasional flash, and spark. Maul stood poised, ready for any sudden movement, but the danger had passed; the machine was terminated. "Anakin!" Shmi yelled, dragging herself closer to her unmoving son. Maul looked down at her with narrow, angry eyes, his hatred intense. Shmi stared at the fearsome figure above her, his striking red skin and black markings accentuated by the crown of small horns adorning his head. His fierce yellow eyes and menacing demeanour filled her with dread, leaving her uncertain if he would now turn on her son. Swallowing her fear, she managed a faint "Thank you." Maul''s response was a sneer as he pulled up his hood, shrouding his face in shadow. "He''ll live," he snarled, before limping away beyond the dying flames. Chapter 13 - Scrapyard Survivors: Dawn of a New Hope Watto peered from behind an old abandoned cargo hauler, watching as the menacing limping figure moved far into the distance. He breathed a sigh of relief, it was safe to return and flapped back to his scrapyard, horrified at the damage. Shmi lay on the floor, and cradled Anakin in her arms, her heart heavy with worry. Watto glided over, concern etched on his face. ¡°Oh, Anakin. My poor, poor boy, please wake up,¡± she pleaded, her voice trembling with desperation. She gently shook him, hoping to stir him from his unconscious state. ¡°You¡¯re so strong, my love. You can fight this! Please come back to me.¡± "Anakin, please wake up," she begged, her voice trembling. As Anakin slowly stirred, he blinked groggily and managed a faint smile. "Hey, Mom. Did we win? Shmi and Watto let out a relieved laugh, the tension of the moment finally lifting. Watto and Anakin helped Shmi to her feet as she rose unsteadily. Anakin stared at the lifeless, skeletal metal machine. "Mom, that''s the metal man from my dream... and the stranger in the cloak was sent to protect me."The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation. Shmi shuddered; while the mysterious figure had saved Anakin''s life, an uneasy feeling lingered. She sensed something dark and foreboding about the cloaked stranger. "It''s okay, Annie. It''s over now," she whispered, gently stroking the boy''s hair. Watto surveyed his scrapyard, grumbling, "Look at this mess! It''ll cost me a fortune." He absently scratched his bristly chin, confusion mingling with frustration. Why had he been targeted? The possibility of revenge from a disgruntled customer nagged at him, adding another layer of unease to his already troubled thoughts. ¡°Watto,¡± Shmi reminded him with a reassuring smile, ¡°you still have all those gambling credits left behind,¡± knowing it would lift his spirits. Watto''s eyes lit up with excitement. ¡°Yes!¡± he exclaimed, his mood shifting instantly. ¡°Everyone else is either dead or has fled.¡± To Shmi''s surprise, he leaned in and planted a big kiss on her, leaving her to wipe the slobber from her face. ¡°Maybe it¡¯s not such a bad night after all, eh?¡± A greedy grin spread across his face as he abruptly released Shmi, making her stumble slightly. Without a second glance, the Toydarian fluttered off to collect the leftover credits, disappearing into the building. Shmi watched Watto''s retreating form, astonished that after all they had endured, his main concern was still his money. But she didn''t dwell on it. She was simply grateful that she and her boy were alive. Shmi wrapped her arm around Anakin and looked up at the rising twin suns. The new day brought with it a renewed sense of hope, a feeling that perhaps their fortunes were finally about to change. The end.
