《Sovereign's Universe [Building the Universe]》
Preface
Back in 2007 when I was in high school, I was a part of a role-playing group using the game Star Wars: Jedi Knight Jedi Academy. A lot of this writing I have since repurposed to construct my own universe. Since then, I have grown it beyond what it originally was. The only remaining aspects were my original character names. The other characters who I interacted with in this RP have been changed.
First and foremost, this piece of fiction (if you could call it that), I have drawn inspiration from a plethora of other work and have tried to make it my own. While it might seem generic, and half baked (and I know it is in places), for me this is purely for fun. Coming up with silly little ideas of this fictional universe in my head and throwing that stream of consciousness onto the page and make it look vaguely coherent.
Some of my inspirations have come from:
- Heroes
- Star Wars
- Star Trek
- Lord of the Rings
- Doctor Who
- Marvel and DC Comics and their respective Cinematic Universes
- Mass Effect
- Assassin''s Creed
- Destiny
- The Witcher
- Halo
- The Division
There are probably other such similarities to other people''s work that I am unaware of. I write this because there was never any intent to take someone else''s work and reconstitute as my own. It''s more like I''ve seen something in those mediums and thought I like that; how can I incorporate that into what I am writing and thinking about.Stolen content warning: this tale belongs on Royal Road. Report any occurrences elsewhere.
Sovereign''s Universe is something I come back to every now and then to add stuff to. It has no real direction or path. For me I think I like most of all is building the worlds and the lore that goes with the Universe rather than try and tell the narratives. Thats not to say there aren''t narrative elements. I have written bits and pieces here and there. I like to try and do complex interconnected narratives that weave in and out from each other. Of course, trying to get that onto the page from my head is something else entirely.
Which brings me to my next point, ever since the introduction of generate AI, I can describe what I am thinking and get assistance with my vision by bouncing some ideas to it and seeing what I can do with it. While I do try and maintain the majority of this is my own work, some of it has been thrown into Copilot to see where things lead and what might inspire me or help me flesh out some things. Generative AI has allowed me to describe certain scenes, settings, characters etc that I have in my mind and do my best to describe and have it created an image so I can visualise it as a concept. I say this because I will use some of these images here and there to illustrate my visualisation of how I am seeing these things in my head.
As I''ve said before this is just a bit of fun for me and something I''ve been wanting to share for a while despite how stupid it might be. Who knows, I may get better as things go along.
Timeline of Reality 42 - Universe 42 - PART 1
Timeline of Reality 42 - Universe 42
Written by the History Conglomerate
The following is an outline and brief explanation of the timeline of Sovereign¡¯s Universe or Architect designation ¡®Universe 42¡¯ of ¡®Reality 42¡¯. As always, the information gathered is by no means always accurate, without bias or conjecture. Archive information from various sources have been obtained to reconstruct this timeline as well as archaeological and exo-archaeological, sociological, paleoanthropological, astronomical, ontological and temporal. Respectively epoch, aeon, age and era are the terminological use when describing time and can be used interchangeably depending on historic or astronomic context if otherwise named. Comments are added here and there regarding certain events.
Genesis Epoch - Before Age of Sovereign
- 0 seconds
- Sovereign, Draconis, Virgo, The Sage, and several unidentified Architects form the reality bubble and designate it ¡®Reality 42¡¯.
- The ¡®Pearl of Sovereign¡¯ is placed in the centre of the bubble. Using ancient celestial and cosmic power, The Architects breathe life into Reality 42.
- Draconis feeds his essence and power into the pearl.
- The pearl expands, and Virgo adds the ¡®Shard of Arkus¡¯¡ªits function unknown (at this point).
- The pearl reaches critical mass and explodes, creating a massive burst of light and energy. This is the Big Bang of Reality 42, the origin of its multiverse.
- The Pearl of Sovereign splits into 42 smaller pearls, each containing the quantum information of a universe. The Shard of Arkus also splits into 42 smaller shards, each following a pearl.
- Zarathos, the Architect of Death and Destruction, assigns a legion of Destroyers to sit in void around the bubble of Reality 42 (every reality have these).
- 10^-43 seconds: Planck Epoch
- The pearls and the shards are smaller than the Planck length, with undefined and unstable laws of physics and logic. Quantum fluctuations create random and chaotic phenomena. The Architects can only observe them with the Ethernium Loom.
- 10^-36 seconds: Grand Unification Epoch
- The pearls and the shards grow larger than the Planck length. The laws of physics and logic begin to emerge and stabilize. The four fundamental forces are unified into the Grand Unified Force. The pearls and the shards are filled with a hot and dense plasma of quarks, leptons, and bosons. The Architects can now manipulate them with the Ethernium Loom but choose to observe their natural evolution (with hindsight probably wasn¡¯t a good idea, but hey Supreme Beings are also fallible).
- 10^-32 seconds: Inflation Epoch
- The pearls and the shards undergo rapid and exponential expansion due to the inflation field. The space-time becomes homogeneous and isotropic. Tiny quantum ripples form the seeds of cosmic structures. The Architects monitor and adjust the inflation field if necessary.
- 10^-12 seconds: Electroweak Epoch
- The Grand Unified Force splits into the strong nuclear force and the electroweak force. The pearls and the shards are filled with a plasma of quarks, leptons, and bosons. The Architects experiment with different combinations of elementary particles and forces (given with what we know now, again not the best idea).
- 10^-6 seconds: Quark Epoch
- Quarks become bound by the strong nuclear force. The pearls and the shards are filled with a plasma of quarks and gluons. The Architects create and test different types and combinations of quarks and gluons (this one was ok).
- 10^-5 seconds: Hadron Epoch
- Quarks combine into hadrons, such as protons and neutrons. The pearls and the shards are filled with hadrons and anti-hadrons, which annihilate into photons. The Architects create and test different types of hadrons and anti-hadrons.
- 1 second: Lepton Epoch
- The electroweak force splits into the electromagnetic force and the weak nuclear force. The pearls and the shards are filled with leptons and anti-leptons, which annihilate into photons. The Architects measure and modify the pearls and the shards.
- 10 seconds: Photon Epoch
- Most hadrons and leptons annihilate with their anti-particles, leaving a small excess of matter. The pearls and the shards are filled with photons, neutrinos, electrons, and protons. The Architects create and test different ratios of matter and antimatter (we¡¯re not sure if this was a contributing factor to what was yet to come).
- 3 minutes: Nucleosynthesis Epoch
- Protons and neutrons fuse into nuclei. The pearls and the shards are filled with nuclei of hydrogen, helium, and traces of lithium and beryllium. The Architects create and test different types of nuclei and elements.
- 380,000 years: Recombination Epoch
- Electrons combine with nuclei to form neutral atoms. The pearls and the shards are filled with a gas of photons, neutrinos, and atoms. The fog clears, and photons form the cosmic microwave background. The Architects create and test different patterns of the cosmic microwave background.
- 300,000 years: Foundational Scaffold
- The 42 universes inside the reality bubble start to take shape and expand. Forms of unstable energy and matter are produced at exponential rates, and cold electronuclear fusion starts to take place.
- Sovereign interlocks the universes to prevent collisions or mergers, allowing their structures to set.
- Sovereign interlaces dimensional planes into and between each of the universes.
- Thermomagnetic forces cause mass inflation, ionizing particles. Temperatures fluctuate as the universes begin to expand.
Unexpected Event and Structural Weaknesses
- 50 Million years
- An unexpected event causes structural weaknesses in Universes 2, 4, 6, 7, 12, 21, 24, and 42. To mitigate any potential long-lasting effects, the Architects Sovereign and Virgo seal the dimensional pathway caused by the structural weakness. They relocate the weakness into the darkest depths of each affected Universe, hoping it wouldn¡¯t be discovered. The Wanderer later discovers this anomaly, unlocking its secret in an investigation linked to disappearances, all related to the word ¡®Paradise¡¯.
- Architect Draconis¡¯ essence creates the first beings of Light, Darkness, Time, Life, and Power. The Progeny of Draconis move through the universes as beings of consciousness and energy.
Aeon Lux
- The first stars begin to form. Light takes ethereal form, illuminating each universe. Darkness remains a mass of shadow, enveloping each universe in darkness. Light and Darkness coalesce in harmony.
- Time takes physical form at the flashpoint of the universes. Using the remaining structure of Sovereign¡¯s pearl, Time establishes dominion within its own dimensional plane and oversees the construction and evolution of Reality 42. The creation of Time is unique to each reality and exists simultaneously within and outside of each universe.
Orion¡¯s Paradox
- With approval from Chronos, the Architect of Time, Orion, a newly ascended Architect from billions of years in the future, makes an addition to the newly forming Universe 42.
- Orion creates the Quantum Annihilation, a sentient intelligence without physical form. Chronos allows the paradox to take effect.
- An unidentified Architect gives more power to Orion. Orion works in tandem with Sovereign, Draconis, and Chronos, with Chronos overseeing and assuring minimal effect from the universal paradox.
- Orion creates his own dimensional plane, Orion¡¯s Vault¡ªpurpose unknown.
- Orion lays the foundations for his eventual ascension and the pathway for The Wanderer to rise. Chronos imbues Orion with temporal power, allowing Orion to contain the causality paradox to Universe 42. Orion stabilizes the paradox by tying it to his dimensional plane.
Formation Era
- 500 Million years
- Galaxies begin forming.
- The Alamants of Draconis come into existence in their elemental forms: fire, water, earth, and air.
- The Ascension Galaxies, the oldest known galaxies in Universe 42, start to form. Initially one large unbarred spiral galaxy, an unknown event rips it apart, creating seven spiral, lenticular, and elliptical galaxies. Their orbital paths suggest a possible future collision, reforming into one galaxy.
Symphony of Rain and Heavens
- 700 Million years
- The Symphony of Rain planetary systems form around a dimensional fissure and its neighbouring star ¡®The Mainframe¡¯. Three planets and two moons achieve perfect synchronous orbit around a singularity and star adjacent to the fissure. The Quantum Annihilation inhabits the planet closest to the fissure.
- Sovereign interlinks galactic halos, forming a protective ¡®heliosphere¡¯ around the universe. He creates four nomad stars at each pole point to strengthen the protective heliosphere. The centre of Universe 42 gains a giant white star with a complimentary planetary system, known as Sovereign¡¯s System. The universe is shielded from potential extra-universal or extra-reality threats.
- First signs of sentient and intelligent life begin to emerge.
Age of Enlightenment
- 900 Million years
- The first space-faring civilizations begin to spread through the universe.
- The Akron Configuration, the oldest sentient species from a group of six galaxies, forms the first intergalactic alliance. These six galaxies would form almost a billion years later.
- The Alamants become corporeal, beginning the age of Draconian Enlightenment. Each forms their own domain: Pyro, Agni, and Igni of Fire; The Conflagration Monarchies, Hydro and Hydra; The Tsunami Theocracy, Geo and Gaia; The Emirates of Terra, and Amun and Ilmatar; The Parliament of Zephyr.
- Power takes physical form as The Arcane, beginning the lineage of Draconis and becoming his emissary. The Arcane is the first omnipotent in the universe.
- The Federation of Eos settles in the galaxy Hyperion¡¯s Cloud, and The Umbra Hegemony settles in The Fissure of Morpheus, representing the physical forms of Light and Darkness respectively.
The Dark Ages
- 400 million years
- The pearls and the shards are filled with a dark and silent gas of photons, neutrinos, and atoms. The photons are too weak and too redshifted to be visible, and the atoms are too sparse and too cold to emit light. The pearls and the shards are in a state of equilibrium, with no significant changes or events. The Architects monitor and control the pearls and the shards with the Ethernium Loom, creating and testing different ways to end the Dark Ages and start the formation of cosmic structures.
Reionization Epoch
- 500 million years: The Reionization Epoch. The pearls and the shards are filled with a bright and noisy gas of photons, neutrinos, and atoms. The photons are produced by the first stars and galaxies, which form from the gravitational collapse of the gas. The photons ionize the atoms, creating a plasma of electrons and nuclei. The pearls and the shards are in a state of transition, with the formation of cosmic structures and the reionization of the gas. The Architects study and manipulate the pearls and the shards with the Ethernium Loom, creating and testing different types and properties of the first stars and galaxies.
Star Formation Epoch
- 1 billion years: The Star Formation Epoch. The pearls and the shards are filled with a hot and dense plasma of photons, neutrinos, electrons, and nuclei. The plasma is shaped by the gravity of the stars and galaxies, which form clusters, filaments, and voids. The stars and galaxies produce more photons, which heat and ionize the plasma. The pearls and the shards are in a state of evolution, with the growth and development of cosmic structures and the star formation and feedback processes. The Architects experiment and explore the pearls and the shards with the Ethernium Loom, creating and testing different types and properties of the stars and galaxies.
Galaxy Formation Epoch
- 2 billion years: The Galaxy Formation Epoch. The pearls and the shards are filled with a warm and turbulent plasma of photons, neutrinos, electrons, and nuclei. The plasma is organized by the gravity of the stars and galaxies, which form larger and more complex structures. The stars and galaxies produce more photons, which regulate and enrich the plasma. The pearls and the shards are in a state of diversification, with the formation and evolution of different types and properties of galaxies.
Planet Formation Epoch
- 3 billion years: The Planet Formation Epoch. The pearls and the shards are filled with a cool and calm gas of photons, neutrinos, and atoms. The gas is shaped by the gravity of the stars and planets, which form smaller and more varied structures. The stars and planets produce more photons, which illuminate and warm the gas. The pearls and the shards are in a state of specialization, with the formation and development of different types and properties of planets.
Life Formation Epoch
- 4 billion years: The Life Formation Epoch. The pearls and the shards are filled with a cold and thin gas of photons, neutrinos, and atoms. The gas is influenced by the chemistry of the stars and planets, which form organic and inorganic molecules. The stars and planets produce more photons, which energize and catalyse the molecules. The pearls and the shards are in a state of emergence, with the formation and evolution of different types and properties of life.

Volume I ― Genesis
Volume I ¨D Genesis
Prologue ¨D The Nature of Existence an extract as written by Professor Zedhyrx Xuan PhD.
It¡¯s always tricky trying to quantify the nature of existence in terms of a mind trying to understand its own existence. When you start considering the nature of existence, creation, the very concept of everything, questions begin to layer on one another with what seems no clear and single answer. You¡¯re left with more questions than answers. Now this might that seem all too grand and far from our understanding, simply because there is no conceivable way a being could ever grasp this let alone understand all its complexities. There are ways a mind has of overcoming this shortcoming, it starts by reducing the idea of everything by breaking it down into smaller, more manageable pieces. To simplify this process a series of questions must first be asked to lay the foundations upon it all, these questions are the most pertinent, basic and fundamental to get the ¡®gist¡¯ of everything, who, what, when, where, why and how. For this purpose, also the use of first, second and third person will be used interchangeably to further personalise the experience.
To start us off on this existential journey is who? Who created everything, if there is indeed a who. Now this may depend on your various spiritual beliefs and there is no right or wrong answer. Throughout the known universe there are religions, cults, consortiums, organisations that are centred around and form a belief that an all-powerful, impartial entity, deity or God created everything and that¡¯s fine. As I said there is no right or wrong answer it¡¯s a matter of perspective and individual belief. Most beings believe for their own understanding that a divine maker created everything to give meaning and a purpose to their lives. That this being¡¯s will is paramount in which to live their lives. Which brings us to what created everything? This ties back into the who, because as a species of intelligent thought we are driven to understand what exactly this is ''who''. Is it a being like us? Or something else? Or is the ''what'' something centred around in the various scientific theories rather than spiritually based. For example, was it a single sub-atomic particle, cloud or gas that led to everything there is today.
Then there is the ''when'' of it all, and this question is quite probably one of the most profound questions as it lends scope to the universe. When did everything begin? Was it today, yesterday, hundreds, millions or billions of years ago, how long will it last? Through the application of science, we can get a rough estimate of the age of the universe. Faith orientated doctrines claim that the universe was created over a period or still is being created without a determined origin point in time. Following on from the when is the where. Where did all this take place? Was there a specific quantifiable location where all this happened or is the location in which everything manifested from is random. Next you ask how, in the sense of scientific questioning. How did this all come about, what were the processes that lead to this, how did it all unfold. In cases with a belief-based system, how did the god or deity in question perform this feat, was it by some higher power, magic or something entirely else that cannot be explained by conventional or rational means. Lastly and quite possibly the quintessential question and that is, why? Why did all of this happen? What was the reason behind it all? Why did this being create everything? Why did these processes caused by a chain-reaction of chemicals, gasses and particles cause all of this? Why is most important as it will ultimately achieve the meaning to everything. Without the why, beings are left unfulfilled. They need a reason to explain what happened. It is frustrating to think that something like the universe happening without a reason.
Why is everything here and what is the purpose for it all. But how could such a being experience this meaning without being driven mad by the idea if it conflicts with an already established view or understanding of what they already know. Which is why perhaps we are not meant to know such information. Or perhaps that is the journey of life. Not to seek out the answer to everything, but the journey you take to discover it. Perhaps the journey is enough meaning. Perhaps that is the meaning. Because what then? You have discovered what you¡¯ve set out to do. What then do you do with it all?
Creation ¨D The Architects an extract as written by Professor Zedhyrx Xuan PhD.
We think of the universe and reality as one in the same. The universe is this thing that contains all of reality and parallel universes are alternate realities. But what if it was the other way around. Multiple universes co-exist within a single reality, rather than each reality is its own universe. If you think of it in terms like that you could have multiple realities with thousands of universes within them. So, what does it all mean? If there are multiple realities with multiple universes contained within them, then where did they all come from? How did they all come to be? Well while throughout the ages there have been theories, religions, equations, myths and legends how everything came to be. But what if it was all true, all of it, up to a point. What if there were a being or beings that created everything by using science or magic? Beings so powerful they could create something from nothing. How would one begin to explain that? How did they become to be, did they create themselves, did they just come into existence? How can you begin to fathom that there is something out there which is capable of birthing realities and universes? To most they don¡¯t concern themselves with these ideas.
So how many realities are there? According to the archives of The Wanderer: ¡®Since Orion¡¯s days with Rosenbridge 42 billion years ago, when they were assigned with mapping the multiverse (among other things), we have expanded our search to not only map the multiverse but mapping the multiverse of multiple realities. Please note this is an extensive undertaking. The current estimate puts it about 40 separate realities, with at least thousands of universes within them. Thus, we have been able to determine that our reality is relatively small and young in comparison to the others with only 42 universes within our reality.¡¯If you discover this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation.
Respectively then, where did these realities come from? The most concrete evidence once again comes from the archives of The Wanderer: ¡®While many believe that God, a singular supreme being or some sort of cosmic event created everything here today. I am here to say that they are one in the same. The creation of our universe the other universes in our reality and the multiple other realities around us were in fact created by omnipotent beings we can scarcely begin to comprehend. They call themselves The Architects and they have been responsible for the creation of everything.¡¯
The Architects are beings with indescribable power. They can produce new realities, universes, stars, galaxies, planets, life and atoms. Impartial, unconcerned with the plights of those in their creations, they have rarely been seen. While there has been some exception to their motivations and movements in more recent times, they have generally kept to themselves floating through dimensions, voids, surveying their creations. While they may be the creators, there are also beings whose sole purpose is to destroy the Architect¡¯s creations. Destruction is necessary to keep the cosmic balance. In all known space and time, the Destroyers have only ever acted three times without instruction from Zarathos the Architect of Death and Destruction. While it¡¯s not known for certain why or what caused The Destroyers to go against their master. Another extract from The Wanderer¡¯s archives provides insight ¡®While every attempt is made to keep The Destroyers under Zarathos¡¯ (nice guy) control, they are not immune from the corruptive forces of evil. Even among omnipotent beings, evil still exerts it¡¯s influence and malice.¡¯
Creation ¨D Sovereign¡¯s Universe Overview
Sovereign the Architect of 42 was curious if he could create a Universe where it¡¯s inhabitants could unify themselves on a universal scale. From the other realities and universes, co-habitation was more the norm than total cohesion. In the early days of the universe when life was starting to advance, he tried to subtly influence such co-operation. Starting with a few species at a time within multiple star systems, within the same galaxy. As more and more species began to develop, he lessened his influence to see if alliance and partnerships would naturally emerge. But as it was when these creatures were left to their own devices they often were met with mutually assured destruction.
So, he tried it again, this time furthering his influence to create myths and legends. It worked for a time, but when his influence diminished, species who seemingly worked together for mutual benefit ended up turning on one another and again destroyed themselves. In his final attempt to unify his universe, rather than let it take its course, He descended into the universe and became its overseer, rather than its ruler, he decided to influence favourable outcomes. Sovereign rarely intervened, but, if necessary, he would do so subtly. Religions, alliances, consortiums and communities all spurred their own versions based on him. These alliances would last aeons and from it all his goal to bring total unification to his universe was born. An accord struck; The Sovereign Declaration was formed creating The Sovereign Administration. After a few million years after The Sovereign Declaration was signed, Sovereign vanished, but the idea stuck. The legend became a fairy tale, the god who united galaxies you could only dream of visiting. There has been some speculation whether such a god ever existed in the first place and has been chalked up to mere folklore.
With galaxies all connected a revolution boomed in political relations, trade, art, culture, cuisine. To ease the burden of interstellar travel on a galactic almost universal scale, a technological renaissance cultivated new means to passage the incredible distances of space. The Rosenbridge Array a hyperspace slingshot that allowed to cross vast distances within and between galaxies. Compatible with almost any starship, cruisers and star liners. Manufactured in the Zurvan Galaxy, the Rosenbridge Array became the gold standard for interstellar travel. Advancements and overhauls were made in hyperdrive and warp engine technologies. Additional construction and regulation of hyperspace lanes and freeways, as well as trade routes were implemented. Matter Sublimation and the Interstellar Upload and Download allowed for instantaneous transport of goods utilising a hybrid teleportation matrix and a quantum entanglement connection. Finally, the Deep Space Interchange, fully self-sufficient artificial micro-worlds placed in strategic positions across the universe. The DSI are central hubs for all commercial and private travel throughout the universe.
Though The Sovereign Administration a governing body had great power it was also considered limited. They had more direct executive powers rather than the standard powers a normal government possess. The very core of the Sovereign Administration is no more than 42 galaxies out of trillions. This isn¡¯t to say that every galaxy or cluster of galaxies aren¡¯t represented. The idea is that out of the trillions of galaxies only 42 at a time assume the control of the Administration. Each galaxy, planetary system has their own alliances, empires, republics, federations, monarchies, parliaments and so on. But when a universal law is passed by the Administration every galaxy in the universe must enact it, as well as all legislative changes and amendments to The Sovereign Act. The Sovereign Declaration and The Sovereign Act are two key and vital pieces of legislation that must be adhered to. From there it¡¯s up to the individual galaxy or star system how they govern. However, in the interest of simplicity, a majority of those who are a part of the Sovereign Administration modelled their governments and constitutions after the administration.
Prelude to Adventure ¨D Before the Voyage an account by a crew member aboard The Einstein
Out past the ion reefs of Designation Five and deep into the plasma rifts of Eridani Vale there seemed to be a storm raging, bursts and flashes of white and yellow light pulsated continuously. We looked out from the bridge amazed and somewhat unnerved by what was before us. This is where we were headed into the far out reaches of the Universe into this tempest, into the certainty that returning may not be an option.
Space. It is unquestionably, extraordinarily massive and just mind-boggling. They said eons ago ¡°space is the final frontier¡± and we believed it was. Then came the Empires, Alliances, Consortiums and the Sacred Hallowed Factions. Then we knew, space was just the in between, a medium in which everything existed in the universe. One planet to another, galaxy to galaxy, dimension to dimension, it was all there, and it was both terrifying and exhilarating all at the same time.
