《Blood Fall》 Chapter 1: Awakening *This is the world of Zenmik Where all your dreams can come true. Zenmik is run by the people for the people¡.. Or once was. Now Zemik is run by the Elitist, and not with money, but with power. 200 years ago, was when it all started. People started getting strange powers that they could enhance with the power of a strange game-like system, but just when people started to talk about this discovery online, the first portal emerged¡..* (Current day) Chuck awoke from his slumber and rolled over to look at his analog clock seeing that the time was 9:45 AM. Today was the morning of his 18th birthday which meant he had now awoken a class. 200 some odd years ago people over the age of 18 started getting something called a system, in addition to the appearance of portals around the world. The system breaks a human''s limits and allows them to go beyond what should be humanly possible, classes were what the system would organize people into once they became 18. Many people end up with the same type of classes, the most common being the following; Mage, Warrior, Thief, Medic, there are many useless ones like farmer too. Classes that weren''t just extensions/sub classes of those classes (for example knight is a better subclass of warrior) were considered unique. Individuals with unique classes were sought out by big guilds and were often destined for greatness. There are many perks to having a class, even if it is a common one. One of many perks being skills. Skills were specific abilities that revolved around some sort of action or supernatural power. Which was why Chuck was excited to see his status window for the first time, ¡°Status¡± Chuck said quietly in anticipation he felt like the world owed him, Chuck was orphaned right out of the womb, his mother died giving birth and his father died from illness during his mothers pregnancy. Ever since he has been living off of pity funds from the government. Just after Chuck said this he heard a robotic voice in his head. [System booting¡.} . . [User state your name] ¡°Chuck!¡± he Shouted loudly with glee. [Checking class compatibility¡.0%...35%...100%} [Class selection complete] ¡°Status!¡± Chuck said, but what happened next decided his fate¡. Chuck felt so excited he wanted to scream. that''s when one sentence hit him {Class = Murderer} Chuck wanted to feel horrified with every fiber of his being, but he just couldn''t for some reason it felt only natural that something like this would happen, as he kept reading it was disheartening. {Class = Murderer: ? EXP from monsters 15x EXP from humans. If someone tries to harm the murderer, the murderer will be prompted with a quest to kill the attacker. Hunger for murder.} ¡®WHAT DO YOU MEAN HUNGER FOR MURDER¡¯ Chuck thought. He felt like he was going insane. He felt like laughing. ¡®Lets see i can''t level up by hunting monsters efficiently, if someone tries to hurt me i get incentive to kill them, oh and i supposedly have a hunger for killing.¡¯ He thought to himself. ¡®Well there must be a good side to this¡ i need to try and stay positive¡¯ he thought as he opened his investigated his status. {Name = Chuck} {Class = Murderer: ? EXP from monsters 15x EXP from humans. If someone tries to harm the murderer, the murderer will be prompted with a quest to kill the attacker. Hunger for murder.} {+1 all stats every other human killed - [Humans killed = 0] {Level 1, EXP 0/50} +2 unassigned stat points upon level up __________________________________ {Health = 120/120} {Mana = 70/70} {Stamina = 90/90} {Strength = 16} {Speed = 20} {Intelligence = 7} 10 mana per INT point {Dexterity = 9} 10 Stamina per DEX point {Endurance = 12} 10 Health per END point __________________________________If you spot this narrative on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation. {Skills} {Unwavering Will: Murderer will not bat an eye at death, and has some mental resistance.} Chuck didn''t know how to feel on one hand all of his stats were far above average for and newly awakened, his first skill was also a passive which was rare in itself, not to mention it had mental resistance as one of the effects. Mental resistance is one of the most sought out effects rich people spend millions of Credits to get mental resistant artifacts. As Chuck noticed this he thought ¡®maybe this wont be so bad after all¡ well if he didn''t have to be labeled as a murderer. But for some reason now that he calmed down a little the idea of murder didn''t seem that horrible, while realizing this Chuck attributed it to his passive skill. ¡®Shit¡¯ Chuck thought. As he just remembered that he was required to get a license at The Awakened Association. The Awakened Association was a branch of the government founded to help deal with the increase of awakened, and acted as a hub for awakened to meet up and delve into portals. Chuck rushed over to the mirror of his small apartment to get ready , Chuck wasn''t necessarily handsome but he wasn''t ugly. He was around 5¡¯7¡± with fair skin, he had brown hair and brown eyes, and he was slim but not skinny. He noticeably grew a small amount of muscle definition after awakening. Chuck walked out of his apartment in a hurry locking the door behind him ¡®i''m going to be late!¡¯ he thought curing inwardly as he got on the bus. Chuck lived in Lumis City. Lumis city is huge and has multiple Awakened association buildings spread across all the districts, the specific one he was going to was in the tier-3 district. The districts were divided into how much economic value the area held to the city. Most cities have 5 districts, tier-1 being the most wealthy with tier-5 being the least. The second Chuck got on the bus he immediately knew what the system meant when it said ¡°Hunger for murder¡± it was hard to explain but he felt the urge to rip everyone in the bus''s throats out. It felt as if everyone around him was out to get him even though he knew they weren''t. It made him angry like he wanted to fight back and attack before they did. ¡®Whats coming over me, i didn''t think it would be this bad¡¯ Chuck thought as he swallowed the saliva that was building up faster than normal. Chuck didn''t know if he could hold his urges in before getting to the association. Just as he was thinking this he heard a noise ¡°Ding¡± the bus chimed as it came to a stop. ¡®This is my stop¡¯ Chuck thought as he quickly sped out of the bus. He realized being in a confined space with that many people was not a good idea, and he had a feeling that if the bus had made him wait any longer, he would have been in some serious trouble When Chuck stepped off his urges were easier to deal with, ¡®maybe it''s worse in enclosed areas¡¯ he thought to himself as he made his way to the Tier-3 Association building. The Awakened Association building was large, it looked like a giant dome with a matte finish. The dome was about double the size of a football stadium. With a bronze statue of a man holding a spear near the entrance that stood about 6 meters tall. Although the intimidating statue was the least of his worries, the place was flooded with people. Chuck had to dig his nails into his hand to even stand a chance of making it into the building. Holding back his urges he made it into the building. When Chuck made it inside there were much less people per square foot, as the space indoors was much larger than the large walkway outside. This made the urges much easier to deal with. The second thing he noticed aside from the absence of people crowding around him was a very large and long receptionist desk. One long enough to fit the 12 receptionists at the desk. Chuck got into a short line to see one of the receptionists. Chuck eventually made it to the desk and saw the man who was at it. He was a larger man probably about 6 ft tall and had blonde hair and grey eyes, he was wearing khakis, with a green button down. His name tag said John, and John seemed very excited for Chuck, almost a scary amount. ¡®Jeez what''s this guy''s problem?¡¯ Chuck thought. John looked Chuck up and down and said with a cheerfully voice ¡°Hi! I''ve never seen you before. Are you perhaps here to get a license? Or are you renewing one? Or maybe you found someone''s wallet, or oh i know you spilled something do you-...¡± it just trailed on and on Chuck just wanted John to die on the spot, but he stopped himself from reaching over the counter and ripping his throat out like he imagined 15 times, just in the time John had been yapping. Instead Chuck slightly raised his voice over Johns and said ¡°I''m here to get my license, I turned 18 today and would like to get my assessment done.¡± Waiting for a response Chuck was clutching his fist hoping John would trail off again, he didn''t want to do anything but ever since his awakening he has also noticed being irrationally irritable. ¡°Oh! Why didn''t you say so. I just need you to sign here and put your hand on this stat orb!¡± John said placing an orb on the counter and pulling out a piece of paper that asked for common things like; name, age, address,DOB, etc¡ But what stood out to Chuck the most was the stat orb he had heard of them before. A stat orb is a tool used by the association to gauge an Awakend¡¯s total number of stat points. The average was around 40 for people who had just awakened. Putting them in F tier. An Awakend¡¯s value was determined by their ranking from weakest to strongest the order is F,E,D,C,B,A,S,SS,SSS, and finally X, there were also half steps. For example (F-) was weaker than (F) and (F+) was stronger than (F) but weaker than (E-). After filling out the from thoroughly making sure to put his class as warrior ¡®i''m not just going to announce to the work that im a possibly a criminal¡¯ he thought. After setting the paper down John quickly picked it up and started intensely scanning it. ¡°Hey! Im a warrior too!¡± john exclaimed. All Chuck could do was awkwardly fake a smile. John nudged his chair over to the stat orb and said ¡°Well?! Come on aren''t you excited to get a rank!¡± ~ Chuck took one step to his right, and slowly put his hands on the stat orb. After a couple seconds the number 64 hovered in the middle of the orb ¡®64 not bad¡¯ Chuck thought. ¡°Woah! Thats uncommon! You are already at (F+) rank!¡± John said. But unbeknownst to Chuck John was inwardly thinking ¡®thats suspicious most warriors awaken at (F-) or low (F) but this kid is near peak (F+). Did he lie about his Class? No he couldn''t have it wouldn''t make sense to lie.¡¯ John clasped his hands together and said ¡°Ill get your identification card right away! Just please wait on the bench over there¡± John pointed to a about 10 foot long metal bench with what looked like the material used in bus seats as cushioning. On the bench there was a young women probably about Chucks age. She had olive skin and curly hair in the shape of two pom poms on the top of her head. She was wearing nice leather armor and had a small wand by her side. Chuck went over a sat as far away from her as he could on the bench. Chuck used this time to observe his surroundings, the interior of the building was almost like a community center with a large desk at the front leading off into two hallways. One of the hallways had signs with arrows pointing down it saying. Testing area, testing areas were for people who came back for their second assessment once they obtained their class skill. There are unique skills and class skills, a unique skill is the first skill a Awakened gets right after awakening, unique skills are specific to that person. Most unique skills are one of a kind apart from a select few. When an awakened gets to around level 10 they get their first class skill, most people''s first class skill varies but they all come from a pool of predetermined skills selected for their class. Chuck need to either hope his first skill was one both a warrior and murderer had in their skill pools, or make an excuse for not using a skill. ¡°Chuck!¡± John called from the counter. Chuck walked over to the counter and was handed an identification card with his name, age, Class(warrior), and the rank (F+) . ¡°Thank you¡± Chuck said in a bland tone still worrying about how to deal with his class skill situation. ¡°You are now permitted to enter (F+) rank dungeons and below, a new field dungeon just opened up called Highland Plains. It is a local dungeon so you don''t need to join a guild to get access to it!¡± John said After a second he added ¡°OH! I almost for got here is your sign on bonus everyone gets it. Its to help reduce casualties, we recommend you check out the market a couple blocks down.¡± John handed Chuck 550 Credits. and with that Chuck was on his way to the tier-3 district''s Lumis City market . Chapter 2: Market ~ Chuck decided it would be best to walk to the market. On his way out he decided he would take a short cut by cutting in between the buildings through the alley way between the Association building and the bar next to it, as it was true that the market, and field dungeon were close by, they were also behind the association building and a large part of the travel time to get to the market would be attributed to walking around the massive dome that is the association building. As he crept into the alley way that was about 2 meters wide he began walking, In Front him there was only one turn and that was left of the association right into the maze of alleyways, as he traversed through the maze of concrete, and crossed a couple streets he could hear the chatter of the market. Even closer than that though he heard panting so he peeked around the corner. The scene he saw was an old man in a pile of blood on the floor. He looked homeless and one of his eyes was bloodshot. He was wearing what was once probably clothes but was now rags. He was also holding a bag of something and Chuck could see his ribs through his rags. In Front of the old man was a young blonde man wearing a black main brand tracksuit and a gold chain, he also had what looked like gold plated brass knuckles, The Young man spat on the dying man''s face, ¡° you couldn''t even pedal some drugs, without getting robbed of all your profits. Your daughter is as good as dead, we know where she lives and she will pay for your incompetence. We might have some fun with her before though¡± He said while licking his lips. The young man proceeded to kick the man in the stomach with the strength Chuck assumed to be a (F) rank awakened. Blood Sprayed from the old man''s mouth across the alley floor getting all over the young man''s expensive shoes. This sequence of events led to Chuck not being able to hold back his urges he KNEW he was going to kill this punk he didn''t want to he needed to, he could already feel the amount of relief he would gain from killing this scum bag. ¡®Maybe the urges will die down if I act on them, it seems to be getting harder and harder to hold the urges back, besides who would care if this arrogant punk disappeared¡¯ that was what Chuck thought as he slowly crept forwards. ¡°FUCK! You ruined my Yeezys your done for¡± the young man pulled his foot back ready to kick the old man again but just as his foot went back, Chuck grabbed his head from behind and dug his fingers into the young man''s eyes ¡°AGHH!¡± the young man screamed as Chuck took a step back. The young man turned around and swung his fist armored by the gold knuckles. His punch just barely grazed Chucks check ¡®Damn that would have been the end of me, lights out¡¯ Chuck thought as he stumbled back, Chuck was calm about the whole situation because of his {Unwavering Will} passive skill. {Mission: Kill Opponent} {Reward: Full Heal, and 1SP(Skill Point) With precision Chuck did a low kick to the young man''s shin. At that moment the same thing was going through both of their heads ¡®THAT HURT!¡¯ {Health 108/120} But the only one falling on his knees was not Chuck but the young man. Chuck took advantage of this opportunity and kneed him in the head as he was falling, blood gushed out from his nose as he feel to the floor Chuck Stumbled backwards and slouched against the wall, his heart beating like a drum. His cut had stopped bleeding and the old man was still breathing faintly. {LVL 4 Domonic Killed: Gained 300 EXP(20 X 15)} {300/50 EXP} {LEVEL UP, +2 stat points} {250/57 EXP} {LEVEL UP, +2 stat points} {193/65 EXP} {LEVEL UP, +2 stat points} {126/77 EXP} {LEVEL UP, +2 stat points} {49/88 EXP}Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon. {Mission Complete: Gained 1SP} {CONGRATULATIONS: first kill bonus, Gained 5SP} Then the dopamine hit like a wave of pleasure. It was like he just drank the best hot chocolate on earth and warmed his whole body. ¡®I could get used to this¡¯ Chuck thought to himself. Before Chuck could check his stats he heard the old man ¡°Please kill me, please¡± he said weakly Without hesitation Chuck went over and stomped on his head leaving a soup of red and pink with white skull fragments skittering across the concrete floor. {No EXP Gained opponent was Level 1} {2nd kill} {+1 all stats} With that Chuck decided it was time to check his stats. He leaned up against the wall and opened his status. {Name = Chuck} {Class = Murderer: ? EXP from monsters 15x EXP from humans. If someone tries to harm the murderer, the murderer will be prompted with a quest to kill the attacker. Hunger for murder.} {+1 all stats every 2nd human killed - [Humans killed = 2] current modifier = +1 all stats} {Level 5, EXP 49/88} +2 unassigned stat points upon level up {Unassigned stat points = 10} {SP = 6} __________________________________ {Health = 130/130} {Mana = 80/80} {Stamina = 100/100} {Strength = 17} {Speed = 21} {Intelligence = 8} 10 mana per INT point {Dexterity = 10} 10 Stamina per DEX point {Endurance = 13} 10 Health per END point __________________________________ {Skills} {Unwavering Will: Murderer will not bat an eye at death, and has some mental resistance.} ¡®Nice¡¯ Chuck thought to himself, his rate of growth was top tier, it takes most people nearly a week to get to level 4. Chuck decided to invest 4 stat points in strength and 4 in speed. SP points or skill points are used to upgrade skills but Chuck decides to wait for a better skill to enhance. Chuck took the time to take the clothes, jewelry and gold knuckles off the body of the young man. {Gold Knuckles +5 STR (Strength)} He changed into them and walked for about 5 minutes to the market. After emerging from the alley way with his golden chain and bloody tracksuit which he cleaned off to his best ability only leaving on red smudge on the collar that was barely noticeable. When Chuck exited the alley way, he saw a large path with countless store fronts and a large auction house at the end of the path. All around him there were black smiths, artifact pawn shops, and cafes. Chuck decided he would go to the auction house, once inside he found that the layout of the auction house was similar to a movie theater, with a desk at the front and a path with and sign above it saying theater. At the desk there was a middle aged woman with silver hair, she was about 5ft 4in, and was wearing black dress pants and a tuxedo vest. She had a silver name tag on her vest that said director Chuck went up to the desk and said ¡°Hi, when is the next auction?¡± The director looked at Chuck. ¡°Well actually you are in luck, the next auction is in about 5 minutes. There are 15 spots left, the entry fee is 50 credits.¡± She said with a neutral tone. Chuck handed the director 50 credits and headed down the hall into a large auditorium/theater. The inside was massive; there were dozens of rows of chairs each row elevating above the last. In front of the rows of chairs was a stage. On the stage was a podium with a microphone resting on it. Chuck decided to sit in the center of the 3rd row from the stage. In a couple minutes a man wearing the same outfit as the director entered with a large cart, covered with a black sheet blocking out the many items stored under it from sight. ¡°Welcome to the weekly auction of the tier-3 district auction house.¡± the man said with a gleaming smile. The first couple items were pretty boring most of them were around the same quality as the {Gold Knuckles}. Until something strange happened. {System Detects Murder Relic} Relics are exclusive artifacts to each class usually they cost a wealthy man''s life savings. They were almost always generational and passed down in giant wealthy families. Chuck could barely contain his excitement; he felt like he was about to explode, he had so much energy he could run a marathon. ¡°The next item was found in a E-rank dungeon {Dark Cavern}¡± the announcer said. He pulled the dark sheet off of a glass display case showing a small blood red pearl earring. ______________________________________________ {Blood Earing (Sealed: 15 kills required to unseal)} {Rarity: Relic (hidden)} {1st Effect: Sealed} {2nd Effect: Sealed} {3rd Effect: Sealed} ________________________ ¡®It''s a shame that I need to kill people to unlock its potential but with such an extreme task it must be worth it.¡¯ Chuck thought, waiting in anticipation to hear the price. ¡°Starting bid is 80 Credits¡± ¡®It''s a shame that such a beautiful piece of jewelry has no effect, I hope it finds a good home¡¯ The Auctioneer thought as he started the bidding. ¡°85C¡.95C¡.100C¡115C¡.¡± the auctioneer shouted ¡°120 credits, going once, going twic-¡± ¡°350 Credits!¡± Chuck yelled at the top of his lungs. ¡°once , twice, SOLD!¡± Chuck immediately left to claim his prize at the front desk. Chuck speed walked to the counter and slammed 350 credits on the table. ¡°I''m here for my prize.¡± Chuck said to the director in an impatient tone. Annoyed, the director walked to the back room that connected to the Auditorium and retrieved the earring. She returned to the front desk with a small jewelry box, and handed it to Chuck. Chuck immediately left the building, and decided it was time to go to the field dungeon {Highland Plains} Chapter 3: Dungeons ~ On his way Chuck made sure to gather as much information about the field dungeon {Highland Plains(F+)} from the internet before entering the field. Field dungeons are the simplest form of dungeons, they take place on a large area usually a couple cubic miles. Unlike most dungeons, field dungeons have a wider variety of unique plants, and monsters. The strength of the plants and monsters is dependent on density of the mana in the portal (which is also used to gauge the rank of the portal). Once an Awakened kills a multitude of monsters whose internal mana equals up to a certain number, a boss portal will spawn above the corpse of the last monster killed. Boss monsters are usually one subclass above the rank of the portal. When a monster dies they drop a mana crystal. Mana crystals are used to make artificial artifacts while real ones rarely drop from mob monsters and still rarely but more often from boss monsters. {Highland Plains(F+)} is a field dungeon whose monsters are all mutations of Bunnies, and Wolves. Most of the plants that spawn in {Highland Plains(F+)} are just used in medicinal teas, although the prices of these teas are very high. The capacity of people that can be in the field dungeon {Highland Plains(F+)} at the same time is 80. When Chuck got to the field dungeon he noticed a couple things, the first being the amount of people hovering around the portal. Most people like to pair up in groups for portals even if they are low rank, just to make sure there are less casualties. The groups are called parties. Most parties consist of an Attacker(DPS; a Blocker(TANK), a Priest(HEALER), and a Porter. While most of the members'' roles are obvious, the Porter is different. The Porter is the person who stays behind, and dismantles the bodies of the monsters, down to their valuable materials(Mana Stone, Claws¡ect). Person as in even unawakened can become porters of lower rank dungeons. Chuck had a plan nestled in his mind , related to Porters but he needed to be a good amount stronger before he could enact that plan. The surrounding area around the portal was similar to a military camp, the roads around the portal were blocked off with military personnel always on site. They took shifts on guarding so there were a couple tents lying around. There was also a table with crates of MRE¡¯s and water bottles lying around it with a couple soldiers passing out the food and water to the surrounding awakened before they entered the portal. The portal looked like a pool of water with the way the ripples in the portal were gliding across its surface. The portal was glowing with a faint blue hue signifying that it was quite far away from a dungeon break occurring. Dungeon breaks are what happen when the total amount of mana built up in a portal surpasses the limit. When a dungeon break occurs the monsters from inside of the dungeon start flooding out from the portal, usually ending in the boss monster escaping too. That''s why the government gives so much incentive to become a member of the association.Reading on Amazon or a pirate site? This novel is from Royal Road. Support the author by reading it there. The color goes from; white, skyblue, blue, lightgreen, green, lightorgange, orange, pink, red, darkred. In the order from furthest from a break to closest. Chuck decided to grab a bottle of water from the military table and make his way into the portal. When Chuck exited from the other side of the portal he saw a large tent almost the size of a 3 story building surrounded by many smaller tents surrounding the area for a couple hundred meters. Chuck entered the giant tent, which said ¡°Quest Center¡± on a large piece of wood hanging from the top of the tent. Once he entered he was surrounded by people and loud noise. The noise was almost cancelling out his thoughts from the amount of people talking. Almost like a small packed restaurant, or sports game. {Your Hunger For Murder Grows(ETA of starved state 45 minutes)} ¡®Dammit I was planning on waiting for a good opportunity but by the time I get out of here it may have to be the first person I see, I don''t even want to know what a starved state means.¡¯ Chuck thought, slightly shivering. Chuck walked over a large post it board that was about six meters long and 2 meters wide. On the board was a multitude of different tasks, with varying rewards. The least rewarding one being a herb picking quest for 60 credits, and the most rewarding one being 1 (E-) rank mana stone, likely from the boss. That quest¡¯s reward was 600 credits which is around 100 credits short of market price but you can exchange it for money while still in the dungeon which is a huge time saver. As opposed to putting it up for auction, or having to spend hours trying to get the best price. So the reward was actually very fair, almost tempting if not for Chuck getting almost nothing out of needlessly risking his life against a boss monster. Chuck grabbed the herb picking quest so leaving the camp area looks more natural, he didn''t want to grab anyone''s attention. Chuck speed walked out of the building accidentally brushing up against some people which was not good for his growing hunger for violence. He decided to head into the forest and start looking for some plants, hopefully he could find something good¡. _________________________________________________________________________________ *Meanwhile-Association Building ASF(Awakened Special Forces) conference room* ¡°In an alley near The Awakened there was a body found of a young man identified as a Domanic Urus, a young drug lord working for a gang called ¡°Skull Alley Dealings¡±. Dominic¡¯s neck was snapped back, in a way that was usually seen in car accidents, with his head slightly caved in leaking blood. Evidence shows that his eyes were punctured completely, piercing his retina, and destroying his lens, in both eyes. No prints were recoverable¡± There was also an old man who was identified as 67 year old man George Paki. George was in an even worse state than Dominic. He showed no sign of struggle. All 24 of his ribs were fractured evidence shows that that alone would have been enough to kill him, but his head was also smashed to a mess of pink and red which made investigators infer that the culprit is a ruthless Awakened who takes pride in his strength.¡± said a tall bald man wearing a bulletproof vest over a white button down, and black tactical cargo pants. The man was standing in front of a projector pull down with multiple pictures of Chuck''s work projected on the pull down. ¡°Sir¡± a young woman said as she raised her hand and stood up from her seat. She had thick wavy brown hair that extended down to her armpits. She had hazel eyes with long eyelashes and the face of a doll. ¡°Yes, Special Investigator Bella¡± the man in the front said with a slightly annoyed tone. The department was used to the man''s misogynistic views, and traditional values. ¡°I would like to personally take over this case with the help of my team¡± Bella said, with a determined look, and a hint of an impatient tinge in her voice. ¡°Bella this case is far below your pay grade, you do know that right¡± he said slightly surprised. ¡°Yes i know but this relates to my class¡± the second Bella said that everyone became quiet. ¡°I understand, your team is on the case. Go get your team together and start gathering information.¡± Bella left the room and walked towards her team''s room with one message hanging on a system window in front of her face. {Eliminate The Seed of Destruction:Clues - Lumis City} Chapter 4: Killing Hour ~ *5 mean looking (F) rank adventurers spot a lone figure speed walking into the forest of {Highland Plains(F+) as if they need to take a crap. One thing they notice on the Young man going into the forest was his expensive clothes and accessories. Of course that young man was Chuck¡* {Your Hunger For Murder Grows(ETA of starved state 8 minutes)} ¡®Shit! I need to find someone alone, ideally weaker than me.¡¯ Chuck thought as he passed the gate of the camp making his way towards the area where lower levels would look for Plants/Herbs. He was surrounded by trees, but ahead he saw a small clearing. The clearing was empty, not even a herb in site let alone a human. ¡®Am I just destined to lose control.¡¯ Chuck thought. He didn''t like the fact that his class could control his emotions, it was invasive and unfair. Those were the two words repeating in his head. Chuck quickly pierced his left ear with the sharp end of the red pearl earring and put the cap on the back then, opened his status page {Your Hunger For Murder Grows(ETA of starved state 5 minutes)} He started frantically looking around moving deeper into the woods, his common sense blinded by fear. {Your Hunger For Murder Grows(ETA of starved state 1 minutes)} He started to feel angry, not just angry, infuriated. He started punching a tree until his knuckles were bleeding trying to fight back the emotions {Your Hunger For Murder Grows(ETA of starved state 0 minutes)} All Chuck could do was let it happen. {Your Hunger For Murder has gone unsatiated} {Next Human spotted will be attacked on sight.} Although the effect of being starved wasn''t that bad for the situation he was currently in. It scared him for what the future entails. ___________________________________________________________________________________ The Five (F) ranks had been trailing Chuck from far behind this whole time. ¡°Hey, what''s up with him¡± a black haired short, goblin looking man said, in a snotty voice ¡°I think he is fighting a tree¡± said a tall lanky man, in plate armor sarcastically. ¡°Wait, is he crying now? This guys such a pussy, let''s just get him now!¡± said a fat greedy man, with a wand not fit for his size. He looked like a fat fairy. ¡°Guild master will be extra happy if we recruit a crazy guy,¡± said a slim nerdy man holding a dagger. His deformed twin brother nodded his head. He had strange cross eyes and a big overbite aside from that they looked similar though. The fat fairy was the one to make the first move¡. {1.25x stats until next kill} ____________________________________________________________________________________ Chuck was barely in control of his body. A fat fairy looking man snuck up on him and cast a restraining skill. Glowing pink thumb width chains sprouted from the ground. Pulling Chuck down to his knees The remaining 4 Awakends came out from the trees. {Mission: Kill Opponent} X5 {Reward: Full Heal, and 1SP(Skill Point) X5 ¡°Man the ransom on this guy is going to be huge, families always care too much about their crazies.¡±Unauthorized reproduction: this story has been taken without approval. Report sightings. The fat greedy fairy man said, grinning like a mad man. ¡°I know, I know, I KNOW!¡± said the deranged one of the twins, in an almost frantic tone. The deranged twin ran over to chuck and looked at him face to face. The deranged twin was drooling, staring Chuck in the eyes. He had beady eyes like a wild animal ready to pounce, or a cat playing with a toy. {Effects of (Closeted Chains) has ended} ¡°I''m going to have fun with yo-¡± the deranged twin tried saying but before he could finish Chuck was standing in front of him. Staring into the Deranged twins eyes with fully black pupils. ¡°How is he standing? That spell is supposed to last until i say so unless they have nearly double my stats!¡± The Fat Fairy Man said in a terrified tone. ¡°This is going to be harder than I thought i dont think Benjamin can take that crazy on his own. Benji get back here!!¡± ¡°No, no NO! HES MINE¡± Benji said with an infuriated face biting on his lips with his overbite to the point of drawing blood. Benji did a wide swing with his right hand, almost like a slap but his fist was closed. Right before it reached Chuck His Classes Urges took hold. Chuck met Benji''s fist with his forehead instead of his cheek, shattering all the Metacarpals(Part connecting fingers to knuckles) in Benji''s right hand, fully disconnecting them from the phalanges(first finger joint and up). Benji reeled back in pain stumbling on his butt and hitting his head on the ground ¡°YOU BITCH I WAS GOING TO TREAT YOU RIGHT, WHORE, SLUT.¡± Benji said with a horrific grimace on his face while covering his mangled right hand, with his left. Chuck stomped on the lying down Bejis groin, crushing all his sexual organs turning them into a paste of red. Benji instantly passed out Chuck grabbed Benji''s head and started repeatedly smashing the back of his skull on the tree behind him, till Benji''s skull fragments pierced his brain stem eventually completely disconnecting his brain to his body. Benji couldn''t breathe and choked on his own blood within seconds. {Hunger Satiated} {LVL 5: Benji Killed} {Gained EXP: 359/88} {postponing level up} {total kills = 3} {Mission Complete: Gained 1SP and Full Heal} When Chuck came to, he was in front of a tree with a horribly mutilated body right under him. ¡®Well at least they were literal villains¡¯ chuck thought, turning around to see slim nerdy looking man, with black hair and a spear charging him. Chuck barely dodged it with his stats lowered back to a normal level after killing Benji. Chuck caught the side of the spear in his right armpit and punched the twin¡¯s chin with his left hand which had the gold knuckles on it. The twins chin completely dislocated and tore off of his face leaving a gaping maw with just a top layer of teeth along the top of it and a long tongue looking at him The twins knees buckled and Chuck kicked him down then proceeded to stomp his foot on the twin¡¯s chest, grab the twins arms, and tried to tear them off of his body by pulling the twins arms while simultaneously pushing down with his right foot on the twins chest. First came the sleeves of his shirt. *rip* Then came the tendons *snap* Then the skin, blood gushing from the stretch marks, in the twins skin Around his shoulders, as the twin screamed a sound humans shouldn''t be able to make. Like an animal realizing it''s about to be hit by a train, but it''s too late to step off the tracks. The tall man started rushing Chuck with his axe but it was too late. *RIIIPPP* The sound of blood spraying from the Axillary artery came, then came the Ripping of the muscles all so fast it looked as easy as cutting through butter. (LVL 4: Kira Killed} {Gained EXP: 686/88} {postponing level up} {total kills = 4} {Mission Complete: Gained 1SP and Full Heal} The tall man was shocked by the ruthless killings of his comrades. So he hesitated at the sight of his friend''s death, just for a couple seconds but that was all Chuck needed. Chuck threw the spear he had taken from the twin and threw it with all his strength aiming for his head, as it was the only body part that was not covered in armor. The tall man barely dodged, the spear whistled past his face and caught his left ear, leaving a large gash in his ear. Just as the spear left his vision Chuck was within a few feet of the tall man. The spear had taken the tall man''s focus off of Chuck and onto dodging the spear giving Chuck ample time to close the distance. The height difference was substantial. Chuck was around 5ft 7in, but the man in front of him was at least 6ft 8in. Chuck had one free hit from his distraction and he decided if he can''t hit his head the next best thing is his neck. Chuck jumped with all of his might using the cruising force of his gold knuckles to crush his wind pipe, making him fall to his knees and grab his throat. Just as Chuck thought he would be able to deliver a killing blow a small goblin-like man jumped over the tall man''s shoulder in a kind of leapfrog motion, using the momentum to, do deal a crushing blow to Chuck''s head. {Health = 68/130} Chuck¡¯s vision momentarily went blurry and he stumbled back. The goblin-like man jumped on top of Chuck pushing him to the ground dealing a fury of Light but fast punches to Chuck''s chest. {Health = 55/130} . . . {Health = 30/130} Chuck was feeling it now he felt like he about to pass out . . . {Health = 18/130} {Mission Complete: Gained 1SP and Full Heal} {LVL 5: Mika Killed(tall man)} {Gained EXP: 1032/88} {postponing level up} {total kills = 5} ¡®No rest for the wicked¡¯ Chuck thought inwardly smiling. Suddenly a warmth washed over Chuck, he regained his vision, and punched the goblin-like man on his left side of the face with his gold knuckles. An eyeball and brain matter went flying, sending the Goblin-like man along with it. Chuck got up and went over to the goblin-like man. He was lying on his back with a giant hole in his skull. Chuck could see the goblin-like man''s brain pulsating, and breathing along with his body, inside of his skull. ¡°You know they are going to kill YOU! All of us WE ARE DEAD! Regardless of if you kills us boss man isn''t going to be happ-¡± Chuck stomped on the goblin man''s skull killing him, and splattering blood across the grass. {Killed LVL 5: Goru} {Mission Complete: Gained 1SP and Full Heal} {Gained EXP: 1372/88} {Hunger satiated for 5 days} What Chuck felt next could only be described as addicting, irresistibly addicting. Chuck noticed this and sighed. He knew he eventually became a murder addicted maniac, but it was really starting to set in. All he heard for about the next 15 minutes was notifications. One of which standing out the most {4x quest completed, 1x failed} A witness, Chuck felt fear, the most fear he has felt throughout his entire life. Chapter 5: Fools ~ Chuck decided to open his status page. ____________________________________________________________________________________ {Name = Chuck} {Class = Murderer: ? The gold knuckles instantly disappeared, they were just there and now they weren''t. There was no sound que or delay, they just disappeared. __________________________________________________ {Murderer Used Weapon Bag} {Weapon Bag Storage - {Gold Knuckles +5 STR (Strength)} _______________________________________________ Chuck decided to try and take the gold knuckles out. They seamlessly appeared on his right hand the second he tried to take them out. Chuck was dumbfounded. Usually there was some sign that someone was taking something out of a storage space, but with this if the opponents view was obscured, they wouldn''t even be able to notice him taking a weapon out. Chuck decided he would go home as it was getting late it was probably around 11pm in the outside world. Chuck made it safely home and lied down on his bed after turning the tv on. ____________________________________________________________________________________ *1 am. Chuck is asleep. And the tv is still on* ¡°Welcome to the 1 AM Awakened News, Lumin City.¡± Said a handsome blonde-haired man on the tv, who was wearing a Blue Tux, with a white undershirt and a red striped tie.Love what you''re reading? Yesterday afternoon a Young man, and old man were found brutally mutilated in an alley way, right next to the district-3 Awakened Association building, of Lumis city. We have reason to believe that the perpetrator is an experienced killer who takes pleasure in brutality. The child had a large collar on his neck made of metal, it looked too heavy for the poor 5ft tall child whose body weight was probably only double the weight of the collar. The child grabbed the towel, and shakily handed it to the bike helmet man. The man slowly wiped the brain matter and blood off his hands and threw the towel at the child, covering the child''s face in blood and chunks of brain. The biker man then left and fled the scene on a motorcycle heading towards district-3. ____________________________________________________________________________________ *Of course Chuck was oblivious to all of this* *Chucks apartment, 7 am* Chuck took a shower, and decided it was best to just put his clothes in the {Weapon Bag} as he had no means to incinerate it, and after his little witness escaped he realized he needed to get rid of all the evidence he could even if it felt insignificant, that way even if he was brought in they wouldn''t have any evidence against him. After safely hiding away the last of the evidence he decided it was time to assign his stat points. _________________________________________________________________________________ {Name = Chuck} {Class = Murderer: ? He put 15 stat points into endurance bringing his endurance up to 30, and put the remaining 3 in speed to also bring it up to an even 30. His reasoning behind this was a simple one, Survivability: if he was faster than his opponent, he could dodge them easier and easily chase down his fleeing opponents. With doubling his endurance it would prolong the time he could battle for, and for a situation where it''s 1v1 and he can''t kill anyone to heal it would help greatly. Not to mention intelligence and Dexterity would just be a waste, as he had no active skills that would consume Mana, and or Stamina. ____________________________________________________________________________________ Chuck decided it was time to put his formerly mentioned porter plan in action, as Chuck now knew with healing on every kill he could easily take down a full team even if they were over leveled. The plan consists of going to a dungeon a rank or two below his true rank, and joining a team as a porter until they get into the boss portal, Chuck would then proceed to start killing them off when a chance inevitably appeared when they were distracted by the boss. Chuck put on his cargo shorts, blue t-shirt, and grabbed a big camping backpack. He opened the door and locked it behind him, then made his way to the {Highland Plains} portal. He passed the military checkpoint, and entered the portal. When he entered it was noon in the portal, so he was blinded by the sun for a second as it was right above him. When he could see again he went towards the Quest Center. And started looking for parties that seemed relatively low level, he spotted a couple but one stood out to him the most. It was a clearly inexperienced party lead by what looked like the young master of a wealthy family, Chuck could tell he was inexperienced because his party consisted of 3 dps and no healer or mage. Their armor was also the type that clearly looked better than it actually was. He could tell all of them came into the portal together because they were all wearing the same armor. A glistening white platemail armor, with a golden crest of a phoenix on the chest piece. All of their weapons were, white steel long swords. White steel is a material that is not purely made from a dungeon material, but is still quite valuable and sturdy. Yet they had no helmets, and they seemed like the type to trust in their armor too much. Chuck slowly walked awkwardly over to them trying to project the message that he was weak. He went over and didn''t look them in the eyes while saying something to them. ¡°U-hu-h do yo-ou guys need a porterr?¡± Chuck said in the most shaky voice he could muster. ¡®Fuck this is embarrasing , im cringing at my self¡¯ Chuck thought screaming on the inside. A man with blonde hair and blue eyes, who seemed to be the leader, stopped talking to his 2 teammates and said in an annoyed tone ¡°Fine but we decide on the split, and only after we aredone¡±. Chuck faked an excited expression and nodded his head. ¡°We should take the boss quest, you guys must be strong right?¡± Chuck said subtly taking a jab at their pride. One of his teammates who had brown hair and average looks, looked at the leader and said ¡°your father said we need to be careful, not reckless Damian.¡± ¡°That old man needs to mind his own business. We are more than strong enough, I mean 3 monkeys could beat the boss with the armor we have.¡± Chuck tried to hold back a smile¡ ____________________________________________________________________________________ Chapter 6: Cave ~ Chuck gave Damian puppy eyes. ¡°Please i need this. My family is starving! I don''t know what to d-¡± Chuck cut the dialogue short with a voice crack trying to really sell the act. Damian put his hand on his shoulder "Stop Making a fool of yourself in the presence of a noble.¡± Damian said with a stern look, he enjoyed playing with the feelings of as he would call them ¡°lower beings¡±. ¡°I feel it''s my duty to give back to the world, so I will help you. No, I will help your family." Damian said making sure he was loud enough to get many witnesses to use this as a bargaining chip to his family, for more power in it. Chuck pretended to wipe away a tear, then took a deep breath in. ¡°Really!?Thank you so much!¡± Chuck said, practically hugging Damian¡¯s leg. Damian shook Chuck off his leg. ¡°No touching¡± he said in a low tone through his gritting teeth. Chuck got the message, he let go of his leg and stood up. They all walked over to the quest board and took the last boss quest. ____________________________________________________________________________________ Damiens party and Chuck went to the forest and started hunting for monsters. Chuck learned a couple things while watching them kill monsters for the boss portal. Damian is supposedly the leader when in reality he is just in charge. He is the son of the biggest shareholder in a company called {Phoenix Pharmaceuticals}. Meanwhile the one who was really the strongest is Joseph, he was the member of the group who did not attempt to dissuade Damian from taking the boss quest. Joseph was tall, and very well built to be honest he looked like a bodybuilder, he was also much more mature than the other members. Joseph had dark brown skin and short brown hair. He was also very pleasant to talk to, he was easy to get along with. Which Chuck thought was dangerous. If he was going through with this he cant get attached to anyone let alone his targets. The other member of the party¡¯s name was Bradley, Bradley was the one who tried to dissuade Damian from taking the boss quest. He was pretty average looking, he had an average height, average face, and even average features; brown hair, brown eyes, moai-like face. Chuck almost felt bad for him. Chuck also got the vibe of the overall situation fo the party. It seemed like Damian, and Bradley were friends but Bradley also thought his friend was foolish and Bradley was much smarter than Damian, then again that wasn''t saying much. Joseph seemed to be some sort of body guard, he was much stronger than Damian and Bradley, but he was never acknowledged as stronger or the bodyguard. Which Chuck thought made sense, ¡®im sure Damian wouldn''t want Bradley to know, they were basically being baby sat¡¯ Chuck thought. ____________________________________________________________________________________ After the party racked up more and more kills Chuck was starting to get nervous, he knew his stats were far above average for this dungeon if he had to guess he would say he was just on the cusp of reaching (E) rank. Joseph being here changed everything though, Chuck could tell he was stronger than the other two but was he stronger than Chuck? This also brought Chuck to the realization that he didn''t have an active skill. Active skills will usually make up a majority of Awakends damaging capabilities. Everyone gets their second skill at level 10, their first class skill which is almost always an active skill. So even if his opponent was below his level, if they were above level 10, and had an active skill, was he really that much stronger than them? ____________________________________________________________________________________ After another half an hour Damian killed the final monster they needed and a portal opened on top of the monsters corpse. It was like the one outside but it was much bigger and white. ¡°Well its that time guys, porter stay behind me you''ll only be a burden¡± Damian said while looking at chuck and smiling like he was on top of the world. ¡°Don''t worry about us just keep yourself safe Chuck¡± Joseph said while winking at him, Joseph was the only one who decided to memorize his name. ¡°Just at least stay out of the way¡± Bradley said, with a disgusted look on his face, he may have been smarter than Damian but he was still a prick. Love this story? Find the genuine version on the author''s preferred platform and support their work! Damians party all entered the portal at the same time. Upon entering Chuck was met with a large clearing of moss in a cave. In the center of the cave there was a giant hole with vines dangling over the sides, revealing the beautiful sun that blinded everyone as they walked into the center of the cave. In the center there was a large puddle that was just under ankle depth. ¡°Its beautiful¡± Chuck and Joseph said simultaneously ¡° Yeah-yeah, i think my garden is better¡± Damian said with an annoyed look. ¡°Where is the boss?¡± Bradley said, with a look of curiosity. ¡°It just takes a second, give it some time to wake up¡± Joseph said with a slight smile on his face with a hint of emotion in his eyes. Chuck noticed this and shrugged it off as he imagined things. ¡®He must just be excited to gain merit from Damians family or something stupid like that¡¯ Just after that thought a giant horse sized wolf jumped down from the hole. The boss of this dungeon was called Dire Wolf, the boss spawned in multiple different forms: speed, strength, endurance, magic. The Dire Wolf that had spawned for this boss portal was strength. Chuck could tell because it had red undertones in its fur, and its claws were black, while every other form had silver claws. Damian had already decided they would take a triangle formation and slowly close in on it surrounding it. Damian, Joseph and Bradley all started closing in on the dire wolf. The dire wolf was in the middle of the room standing in the puddle, it started growling as it was being cornered. It lashed out to the person on its right lunging at Joseph, biting on his leg and pulling it from under him and flinging him into the wall. The dire wolf was pretty low ranking so it did not have the best intelligence but it could still tell that brute force was its only weapon against their sturdy armor. Damian in a fit of range pushed forward and used a skill called heavy strike signifying that he was most likely a warrior. The Dire wolf jumped back, Bradley still on the ground unconscious. Joseph started inching forward and towards the dire wolf and raised his sword. Chuck noticed Joseph was making his move and dashed towards Bradley. Damian noticed but it was too late Chuck had already made it to Bradley. ¡°Slit¡± Everyone in the cave heard the noise of cutting flesh. Damian in a fit of rage started rushing towards Bradley but little did he know all of these thoughts took place in the matter of milliseconds. His body wasn''t responding and he realized where the noise had come from when he could see his own legs, with a surplus of blood dripping down his body. ____________________________________________________________________________________ Meanwhile {Mission: Kill Opponent} X3 {Reward: Full Heal, and 1SP(Skill Point) X3 Chuck grabbed the only un armored part of Bradley''s body, which was his head and slammed it into the wall, blood violently escaping from Bradleys nose, eyes, and ears. {Bradley LVL: 6 Killed} {Level 14, EXP 1382/265(Upgrading postponed)} {Mission Complete: Gained 1SP and Full Heal} 1X But before he could enjoy the addicting warmth he got from the kill, another system message popped up. {Mission Failed} 1X Turning around he saw Damians head rolling on the floor, his blood polluting the puddle that rested in the middle of the cave. Joseph was standing above him with a crazed look, the same look Chuck had after his first kill. Pure Warm Pleasure. Those were the things he saw in Joseph''s eyes as Joseph flung the blood from his sword. He was like a predator who just ate a good meal. ¡°Well i didn''t know there were two assassins sent.¡± Joseph said with an amused grin on his face. Eyeing Chuck up and down. ¡°Yea you could say that again¡± Chuck said with a grin, trying to hide his fear from the beast in front of him. It wasn''t that big of a dealt to kill Damian and a (E-) rank boss but both at the same time? Unscathed without a healing reward like Chuck. Chuck really didn''t want to fight Joseph, it was really a 50/50. Without saying a word Joseph picked up Damians head and walked out of the portal. Leaving Chuck by himself in front of the portal. ¡®He could have killed me¡ i will kill him the next time i see him, my level of growth is faster than most, and i cant let people know my face.¡¯ Chuck thought to himself while opening his status page. _________________________________________________________________________________ {Name = Chuck} {Class = Murderer: ?
