《Nights In Evernight》 Black Void And Crimson Moon Huff Huff William grasps for air as if he was suffocating from a lack of oxygen. Little by little, he regained conciousness and began to feel his body. By now, he could subtlely feel his muscles and could easily move his hands and feet. After a while, he was able to feel the muscles in his face and opened his eyes little by little. A black space¡ª it was all he could see even after opening his eyes. He then subconciously tilted his head up to only see another space filled with black. ''where am i?'' William asked himself. Even after studying countless disease as a doctor, he has never once studied or even Heard of a disease like this. Thoughts of kept appearing inside William''s head. As he tries to remember a disease or even a documentart about a "black void". Strangely, when William tilted his head down, he could see his body. From shoulders to legs, he could see them all. He could see himself moving his legs and feet from his point of view. This brought doubt in William''s idea of this as a disease. Because he had never studied or even Heard about a condition that puts a patient in a void like space. ''so... This is not a dream?'' he ask himself. Crack. Instinctively, his head slightly tilted up, following the sound of the crack that he suddenly Heard. A crack followed by Crimson colored light¡ª it was what he immediately Saw. The sudden crack from the endless black void gave an hint of what this place might be. William immediately thought the most logical answer is a [closed space], since a crack is possible through an object. Though after observing teh Crimson colored light, William asked himself:The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation. ''what is that?'' The cracks from the void began to grow bigger and bigger as Crimson light covered every corner of the cracks. As it grew bigger, instead of Crimson light, a Pile of rose began to grow out from the cracks. Followed by Crimson strings that spun in spiral, becoming sharper and sharper until it was finally reachable for William. Doubts began to show and about in a scrambled order through William''s mind: ''should i grab it? Will it kill me? What would happen if i touch it?'' He knew that if he reached out to the Crimson strings, he might be able to get out of this void, but it could also kill him. Alas, all he could do is to hope for his luck. At that moment, he decided to risk it all, his hands finally touched the surface of the Crimson strings. "!!" Around him, was no longer an empty void, but a street with street lamps that illuminated it''s light around the streets and were surrounded by tall buildings with London like architecture covered in thick fog that Made it hard to even see the rooftops. His eyes scanned all around the streets as he tries to think of a logical explanation for what had happenned. "W-where am i?" He asked himself. Though from his past experience as a college student, he learnt that panicking would just be a burden to finding out something. And so, he slowly took a deep breath and began to think. He then noticed the wearing, a suit that he never wore before. A suit like that of a man in the 1800s and a hat. Clothes simillar of that from the Era of Victorian. He checked his left pocket to find what looked to be a room key. Perhaps for an apartment? In his right pocket, he found a wallet. An old dark brown colored wallet that most seniors would have. Opening the wallet, he found an ID card of what he thought to be teh owner of this wallet. Surprisingly, a pictureof his face appeared on the ID card. Though the card itself seemed a bit old and rusted, he could still see it clearly. William immediately began to observe at the name that was written within the identification card. "Claude Merrick..." He read out. ''...what a weird name'' he thought. Knowing that he had a different name while having the same face allowed him to deduce a hypothesis: He was transmigrated to another world¡ª He had read lots of novels about this, though he would never thought that he would experience it himself Though even though the name might not suit to his taste, everything else was according to his ID card before he was transmigrated. His eyes then followed then observed the red Crimson light that was reflected by the plain windows. William noticed a simillar with the Crimson light from the black void. Looking at the shine from the Crimson light, his eyes subconciously followed the shining red silhouette. He tilted his head, following the silhouette that seemed to reach through the sky. At that moment, the thick fog that covered the night sky shifted, showing a moon with the Crimson red color that shone it''s light all through the dark night sky with it''s blood colored light. William, in Awe and disbelief. his eyes, wide open and soon revealed a faint laugh ss if he was laughing by himself. "Have i really... Been transmigrated?" Notebook Ring ring The door rings it''s bell as William enters the old rusted building. The old rusted Walls, wooden floors that creaked the sound of Wood even when walking, and an awfully irritating receptionist that William experienced himself. It was no wonder that the apartment didn''t have many people. Nevertheless, it was still an apartment. At the very least, he had a place to stay, and he was grateful for that. He had realised that although he had almost no information on this version of him, he thought that it would be most logical if he had put his belongings within the place he knows or owns. This was merely a simple psychology of a human mind. And William knew best about it. He walked through the creeking floors and broken light bulbs that barely even light up. The Walls and floors seemed dusty, almost as if it wasn''t cleaned for over a decade. Alas, the room that matched the number he had on his room card. "Room 306, this is it" William inserted his key through the key whole and twisted it lightly. Click He slightly twisted the door handle as it Made another click. With this, all he had to do wash to push and open teh door itself to enter the room which belonged to him to this world. After opening the door and observing the room, William could only see but a simple room. A decent size room with a window, bed, table, and a closet. Before his transmigration, William he was a perfectionist when it come to room decoration. When he was on campus, his roommate would praise him for making the room more lively. But the "him" from this world proved to be different. Observing the room, although he didn''t like the lack of decoration, he was glad that it as atleast clean. He then observed the wooden desk that was next to the bed. At the edge of the desk, there were two drawers. Opening the drawer that was placed at the very top, he found a strapped leather notebook that were almost too tight. Ensure your favorite authors get the support they deserve. Read this novel on Royal Road. He turned the book to observe teh otherside of the book to find a hand print Made from blood. ''a blood?'' William began to think. Why is there a hand print? Is that actually blood? Why was it strapped so tightly? Ignoring the questions, he opened the book as he thought that it would contain information regarding his situation. (Crimson Flares and Demi Gods) It was the first sentence that appeared at the very first page of the book. The writings, colored blood red. William became intrigued as he read the word "Demi God". He has always been interested in Greek mythology and Norse mythology since he was a kid despite aiming to be a doctor. The thought of tales Gods and Demi Gods seemed exciting to William. With curiosity and intriguement, he opened the second page of the mysterious book he held in his hand. There, a whole paragraf of writing, with the same blood colored ink but excellent calligraphy. (Crimson flares that covered the sea floor within the horizon, a red moon that illuminated the blood light Crimson strings that reached the heaven and land above. A Demi God was born to destroy and protect the living and creations of the mother creator of the land of Evernight) ''...'' Even with his knowledge of Norse and Greek mythology, or even literature, he still couldn''t grasp the meaning of this paragraph. Though he was also curious as to some points from the text. For example, what is the land of Evernight? Is it a cursed land of that sort? Might it just be a story Claude Made up? Maybe. Though he couldn''t fully agree that what he write is a fairy tale, since he had already had an experience of seeing the Crimson red strings while he was inside the black void. Another question then appeared within William''s mind, "how did he know all this?". The "he" as in Claude Muller. How did he receive the information of red strings? Why would he know something that is within a world that is not in his own?. He ready through the entire sentence again until he realised another detail he missed. (a red moon that illuminated the blood light Crimson strings) The sentence that Talks about a red moon, which William thanks that it is the same moon that he Saw when he was outside. Though the words of "red moon" and "land of Evernight" were on a different paragraph, which would mean that it was an entirely different topic, William''s instinct says otherwise. He thought: "if the first page says (Crimson flares and Demi Gods), it might mostly be a title for the second page of the note book. Sjn the second page not only Talks about the Crimson flares, but also Demi Gods. And so, that would mean that the two paragraph are together and in one singular topic" Meaning that the "red moon" is within "the land of Evernight". If so, that would mean that the place he is in right now, is called "Evernight" With no other leads, he decided to accept the hypothesis he made and work with it. Click He suddenly felt a slight click on his suit''s pocket. Once he grabbed whatever was inside it, he discovered a pocket watch that he didn''t notice before. "A pocket watch?" Though normal at first sight, he realised something was... Off. The watch indicated that it was 3 o''clock, but the red moon hasn''t even moved an inch. ''wait...'' He then thought about this place''s name, "Evernight". Meaning forever night. It was a very self explanatory name. ''so... It''s never morning?'' His hypothesis was what he choose to see it as. A land that never turned day but always night. William began to understand on how this place works as he discovers more from what he finds and his hypothesis. Then again, his deductions regarding what he thanks is teh land of Evernights are but mere hypothesis, meaning that he couldn''t fully trust his hypothesis. And so, he aims to search for more information regarding Evernight and to solve the mystery of his transmigration. Night Eye Association The sound of raindrops that appeared every second was what William hears while walking on the streets. Different than when he first appeared, the streets were filled with moving carriages as far as the eye can see and a rainy weather. The weather allowed the appearence of many water puddles around town. Ofcourse water puddles are considered exciting by a child in the summer, waiting to jump and feel the splash of water as they land. Though for a grown man or atleast a teenager, it could become quite the burden. Even William, who was just heading to his now so-called "home" from his trip to the library, didn''t forget to watch out for carriages that was going to pass a water puddles so he would not have to Embrace the chills of getting splashed by puddles and shielding himself from the rain with the canopy that belonged to the buildings that he walked passed through. Why was he at the library? He was searching¡ªsearching for information. "The most important thing to survive is Knowledge" was what his father had said to him durung his childhood, and so he did just that. Ofcourse, what place is better to find knowledge than a library. He started of with the history of Evernight. From past experience, he knew that: ''learning history is a pain in the ass. Especially when you don''t know anything'' Knowing that he had much to learn, he recorded his findings and information inside a blank book he found. Claude''s room were filled with both written and unwritten books, what harm does it do to take one blank notebook? After four hours of full studying and summarising, he mostly had all the information he needed about Evernight''s history. What made it easy for William to learn it all despite learning for four straight hours is because of entanglement with Gods and Demi Gods, which Made William intrigued. Upon returning to his now called "home", he let himself to fall into the embrace of the bed that he had been longing for the past three hours. ''a good rest after a though work is the best...'' William''s body began to ache from what looked like to be fatigue. He hasn''t gotten a single wink of sleep eversince be arrived at this world, so it''s normal for him to be exhausted. Though even with an achig body, and the fact that he hasn''t had a time to sleep, he couldn''t sleep, and he didn''t. Instead, he looked at the room''s ceiling that was glowing red from the light that was immited by the red moon. It was then that he remembered his job, it was only when doing his job that he would be able or even forced to stay up late. The view looked simillar... "Wait..." William immediately stood up, and searched the entire room again. For Claude to be able to afford an apartment and be able to travel enough to be able to discover the Crimson strings, he couldn''t have gotten his money out of nowhere. After looking inside the desk''s drawer, he found a envelope, with a seal of an eye. Inside, was a silver ring that had the symbol of an eye, the same as the seal and a letter. William immediately opened the letter without hesitation. (You have become a member of the Night Eye Association) Was the first sentence that he read.Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings. Before reading further, he observed letter itself. Though the paper doesn''t smell, it was dirty and rusted, which Made him theorise that it was old. (Your entrance reward shall arrive soon) "...wow..." Getting a reward just for joining, what kind of job is that? (Date of next meeting: 12 Burly Lane 12 o''clock, 21 December) As he read more of the contents of the letter, he began to feel suspicious. ''what kind of job is it that a secret meeting spot is needed?'' William questioned. A normal letter wouldn''t have had a meeting spot if it was just a congratulation letter. Though this answered the question on wheather he has a job or not, it doesn''t explain how he knows about the Crimson strings. William invaded with thoughts filled with question. He felt like he had more question than before. Because of that, he didn''t feel the fatigue he had just a second ago. Then, he went to the place that many people in shows called their "go to place for information". Within a dark night, one place was different than the others. Not because it illuminated happiness or friendship and all that, infact, it was quite the opposite. Though this place might bring happiness, it comes after you''re drunk. Yes, the place where you forget you''re problems by getting drunk, the Bar. William, who had zero experience of going to a bar braced himself for the worst. Though he is what many people in his world considered "an adult", he usually has a policy of no drinking. Ofcourse, he Made it for himself. As he was standing infront of the most crouded bar, he couldn''t help but notice the quality of the bar itself which is better than the apartment. Upon entering the bar, Though the whole place is dark, it was still lighted by pink colored lights that illuminated the lusty feeling all across the bar. He could see many handsome and richmen that sat on the long comfortable sofas with women which William thought they bought. There were also some drunkards that shared tales of their travels or even affairs. It was those drunkards that William was aiming for. By being drunk, the individual Will most likely spill out anything despite being top secret. Though even if it doesn''t work, he has another way to get the information he needs. As William were focused on the drunkards, the women thet were sitting next to the richmens or even the ones that were serving the drunkards food had their on William. Though William might not know it himself, he has a face that exceeds most women, was what other people might say, including the women and men that were observing him. Because of that, as he was about to talk to one of the many drunkards that were in the bar, someone suddenly grabbed Williams hand at the last moment. William then subconciously turned his head back to check his arm only to see a woman with a dark skin, purple eyes, dark brown hair clasping her hands around his arm. The woman tilted his head and looked at William as if he was her lover, clinging into his arms that were forcely pulled by her while looking at William in the eye. "What is... A cute young man doing in a place like this?" She said softly while tightening his hands to get a full attention from him. William stood there with a combination of shocked and confused expression. He didn''t have many experience with women, despite his looks. He had the potential to become what many people call a "playboy", but he didn''t. He then replied with a calm smile: "despite how i look, i am twenty one years old" Then, the woman who had both of her hands clasped around William''s right hand, withdraw hebright hands, covering her mouth in shock. Though suddenly, the hands that were covering his shocked expression, covered her smile from her changed expression. A sense of devour¡ª was what she had while she was with William. Her right hand that were withdrawed from William''s arms, returned to where it once was but this time, she pulled his hands forcing him to follow her. While forcibly being dragged to who knows where, William subconciously asked with disturbed smile as if forcing himself to smile "um.... Excuse me Miss, where are we going?" The woman turned his head back, facing his direction. "Somewhere you might enjoy" she replied. A few seconds later, they arrived at the VIP lounge with there being a circular purple sofa and a long white table. The reason it was called a VIP lounge isn''t because of the unique circular sofa, but the many alcoholic drinks that could be worth Millions. William, who was forced to sit within the circular sofa with the woman next to him pouring him a drink. "M- Miss, what are we doing here?" "I''m serving you a drink" "I''m sorry, but i don''t really drink-" She leaned forward and tilted her head, looking at William "you said you''re twenty one, right? Then you should be able to drink it" she said with a smile that ended the debate. "Unless ofcourse... You want something else..." William''s eyes widened as a thought suddenly came to his mind. "Alright then..." William turned his head towards her and lifted her chin with his index finger and looked straight at her eyes. She, who did not expect him to do what he is doing now. She didn''t think he had the guts to do it because of the innocence he showed till now. Because of this, her cheeks and ear suddenly turned red. William gently spoke In heavy voice "do you..." She braced herself to what he was about to do and closed her face was still bright red. "...know about the Night Eye Association" "..." "..." "Eh?" Night Eye Association (2) The sound of carriages and rain drops, unlike last time, could not be Heard as William crossed the streets with a face that could scare a child. Ofcourse, a moment Ago people, wheather man or woman, laid their eyes on him because of his beauty, but that was before he had this expression. Anxiousness and worry¡ª that was what he felt while walking through the empty streets alone. He wasn''t afraid of the darkness, because the streets were lighted by the lamps. He wasn''t afraid of burglars, because it was unlikely for a thief or even a bandit to be around. Was it the silence? Though it didn''t bother him, he did feel a familiar feeling. It was as if the silence that he experienced after coming here for the first time has come back to meet him. Though the difference this time is... He had more knowledge and information. He wasn''t scared of the silence itself, but he was once scared of the lack of information he once experience. And that is what scared him. But even then, it wasn''t what he was afraid of the most. But what is also strange, is that the information he got was what scared him. Yes, information he got from teh woman from the bar. ... AT THE BAR "Do you know anything about the Night Eye Association?" "..." "..." "Eh? What did you just say?" "Do you know anything about the Night Eye Association?" Silence struck the room as if all the excitement and anticipation disappeared in an instant. Her face, while being lifted by William''s right hand, did not show any emotions as she did earlier. Instead, it showed the combinations between confusion, shocked, and surprise. "Pfft...! Puhaha" She suddenly fell into laughter so big, that she apparently had to leaned back and Embraced herself with her own hug. She laughed for Ten seconds until finally calming down. "I didn''t expect you to ask me. I thought you were gonna make a move on me." She said while still chuckling. "You asked me if i want anything else other than drinks, right?" "Hm... True, i did say that, didn''t i?" she said, remembering what she said. "So, you want information about the Association?" "Yes" "What do you know about the Association so far" "Nothing" "...excuse me?" "I know absolutely nothing" "Wait, then hnw did you even know about the Association?" "Because i-"Royal Road is the home of this novel. Visit there to read the original and support the author. As he was about to answer and tell her, he suddenly felt an instinctive "stop". Wheather it be his own reflexes or quick realisation, that feeling might have saved him from a potential of getting captured or even worse... Killed. Why? Because he himself did not know anything about the Association, including wheather it''d be an Associationthat stood up in teh name of justice and good or evil. The percentage of the Association being evil is fifty percent, same with the percentage it maybe if it were a good Association. Because of this, he decided to not tell her about his relations with the Association, including the fact that he would be working there. Because of that, he replied with: "Because i read it on a news paper" "The Association never appeared in any paper" "Oh... Did i say news paper? I meant to say that i heard it in a confersation once" "Where?" "I- In a restaurant" "You Heard an info regarding a top secret organization from a bar?" She asked while lifting her left eyebrow. "Yes" While still lefting her eyebrows, she looked at William as if suspecting him. William thought it was the same face he would see in movies when polices tries their best when interogating a criminal by suspecting the hell out of them. She let out a faint sigh before she crossed her legs and leaned towards the sofa while holding a wine glass filled with alcohol. She crossed her arms while still holding the wine glass in her right hand. Her eyes began to face towards the wine glass she was holding. As if playing with the alcohol, she moved her hands in a circular motion, forcing the alcohol to follow it''s motion. "To be Frank, i myself don''t know much about the Association. What i know, is that the Association specialises in Ghoul hunting" "Ghouls..." William had remembered encountering the name while he was still in the library. A creature that wasn''t able to leave the realm of the living due to the souls promise with the world. In other words, a soul that didn''t fulfill it''s purpose. Using a new body they receive from the land of the dead, they mutate their very body to match their purpose or wishes. "Though it''s an unknown organization, it''s still famous all throughout the continent" "...Because it specialises in Ghoul hunting?" "No, because only those who have become a transcendent is able to kill a Ghoul. Meaning the organization itself mostly consist of transcendents" "... transcendents?" At this point, she has had enough of his ridicule unknowingness. Wheather it be about the holly orders or even the omnipotent war, she wouldn''t be surprised if he didn''t know these things. But for him to not even know what a "Transcendents" is... It Made her want to question him: "Have you been living under a rock or something!?" She shouted while still in disbelief. William was only able to scratch his head and let out a faint smile. "Hehe..." Once again, she sighed in disbelief "Transcendents are beings that have transcended through the capabilities of a mortal" ''transcend the capabilities of a mortal...? Wait... Does she mean-'' "Yes, supernatural powers" William''s eyes, which was once in a serious manner while discussing about the Association, suddenly sparkled. His face which resembles that of an excited little kid, illuminated an innocent like atmosphere. Her eyes, as if imitating that of the innocence from William''s, also sparkled, only this time, it''s because she Saw cuteness. She covered her mouth with her left hand while still holding the wine glass in her right. Hiding her vulnerability. Why? Although many people see her as the adult type, she is strangely vulnerable to innocent things. So, seeing innocence that suddenly appeared out of nowhere, caught her off guard. It was as if she wasn''t seeing a twenty year old man, but a child who had just opened his presents. Though it wouldn''t be strange for her to think of that because his build itself is slim and short, just like a child''s ''a little kid! So cute!!!'' She turned away hiding her face from the attacks of radiating innocence from his eyes alone. Getting back on the conversation, she immediately goes back to a mannerfull sitting while adjusting herself. "Wait, is Ghoul hunting all they do?" William suddenly asked. "Hm..? So far, yes" ''that''s odd...'' He remembered that the Association gave Claude reward just for getting in, how were they able to get that much money? "How do they get their money when Ghouls don''t appear that often?" Infact, he had not encountered any Ghouls ever since he entered this world. "What are you talking about?" She suddenly asked. "Hm...?" "They''re everywhere, we just don''t encounter them because of the Association." she said before taking a sip of the alcohol while her eyes still started at him with the intention of recorrecting his thoughts. She thought that he had misspoke as it''s common knowledge for the people of Evernight. Though, that isn''t the case for him. William stood there with his eyes widened and with the expression of horror and shock. It did seem strange to him that although manifestation of Ghouls could happen anytime, he somehow never thought about it actually happening. "Gulp... W-what would happen if the Association failed to kill even a single Ghoul?" "Hm... It would mostly Depend on the type of Ghoul it is, but..." "But...?" "It would be more likely for it to search for a prey on the streets" "..." "..." ''damn it...''
