《Wielder of the Colorless Blade》 Prologue - Lunar Knights Each year, when the moon is nearest to the earth, the Kingdom of Selenia holds the Lunar Knighting Ceremony at the Crescent Temple. Young people, around 16 years old, who have trained since age 10, gather to become Lunar Knights. The highest honor in the Kingdom. These aspirants bring a self-crafted sword hilt, devoid of a blade. They are called one by one to the Moon Altar, where they recite an oath to protect the Kingdom. Upon raising their hilts to the night sky, a moonbeam strikes, forging a magical moon blade. The blade¡¯s color and aura depend on the wielder¡¯s abilities and traits. The most common aura is the Guardian¡¯s aura, marked by a blue blade. Lunar Guardians are wise and strategic soldiers, often assigned to internal matters, akin to a police force of Selenia. This content has been misappropriated from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere. Next is the Warrior¡¯s aura, with a red blade. Fearless and aggressive, Warriors wield fire magic and excel in combat, fighting for the Kingdom beyond its borders. Clerics, less common than Guardians and Warriors, possess a green-glimmering blade. Known for their wisdom and calm demeanor, Clerics have a special connection to forest gods and spirits, allowing them to summon creatures and heal. They support both Guardians and Warriors. Swifters, as common as Clerics, wield yellow blades. Agile and versatile, they can transform their swords into bows. Swifters act as messengers and scouts, supporting Warriors and delivering critical information. The rarest and most powerful are the Mages, with a purple-radiating blade. Mages possess unique spells and forbidden knowledge, making them the strongest knights. Only the most elite groups have a Mage. These are the known Lunar auras of the Kingdom of Selenia, for now¡ Chapter 1 - The Knighting Ceremony I know I am not the only one; it is actually the most common dream of people in the kingdom. But I was about to achieve my dream of becoming a Lunar Knight. ¡°Ariun, it is time now, the sun is setting!¡± my mom shouted from the kitchen. I had just finished adding the final touches to my hilt. I grabbed my robe, dressed as fast as I could, and joined my mom. She had prepared a sandwich for me to take to the ceremony. ¡°There you go. Now remember, whatever aura you get, you are becoming a Lunar Knight. I couldn¡¯t be more proud of you, Ariun!¡± ¡°Thank you, Mom. I know. Bye!¡± I answered, leaving the house. I was thrilled to become a knight, but my mom knew I aspired to be more than a simple Guardian. I wanted to be a Warrior, to explore the world beyond Selenia! ¡°Right here, Ari!¡± Shanny shouted from the temple stands. Of course, she was already seated. She was probably here before the sun even started to set. Shanny was curious for a tiefling. In fact, she was beautiful. Her blue skin and purple hair always attracted me. She looked even more beautiful in the black dress she wore. But a human and a tiefling together in the kingdom made no sense, so I had to give up on that idea. ¡°What took you so long?¡± she asked as I zoned out, thinking about her look. ¡°Ariun?!¡± ¡°Oh yeah, sorry, I was finishing my hilt¡¡± I answered, blushing.Love this story? Though perfect to me, I feared she might criticize it. ¡°It¡¯s cool, but why did you use this old stick for the grip?¡± she asked. ¡°I don¡¯t know where it¡¯s from, but this stick has been passed down from generation to generation in my family. I thought it would look great on my sword!¡± Her reaction was not so bad after all. ¡°Well, here¡¯s mine.¡± Shanny handed me her hilt. It was perfect. She even matched the grip to her beautiful skin color. ¡°It looks really great!¡± I said, embarrassed because I zoned out again, thinking about the color¡ We waited about half an hour as the Crescent Temple filled with other aspirants. There were only fifty. It¡¯s a common number because many give up during the six years of training or reject the invitation at the last minute. Fifty people looked small inside the Crescent Temple. Or maybe the temple was just big. It was the most beautiful building in the kingdom, designed like a church but without a roof, so the moon always shone above. ¡°Welcome to every aspirant. The ceremony will start now. I want to congratulate each and every one of you for your hard work to get this far. You will all become the new peacekeepers of the Kingdom, known as the Lunar Knights. Before that, I have the great honor of introducing King Selen III!¡± a priest with a white robe and a moon necklace spoke from the stage near the moon altar. The king entered and said a few words, mostly similar to those of the priest. Then the knighting ceremony began. One by one, we were called. Shanny was called in the 11th round. Before her, there had been 7 Guardians, 2 Warriors, and 1 Cleric. She recited the oath to swear protection to the kingdom, then came the most important part of the ceremony. Shanny raised her hilt to the night sky, a moonbeam struck it. The blade started appearing¡ GREEN! She had become a Cleric. I won¡¯t lie; I felt a bit jealous. But I didn¡¯t have time to complain or zone out again as I knew I was next. ¡°Now let¡¯s call our 12th aspirant: Ariun,¡± the priest announced. I stood up, suddenly feeling a kind of pressure, as if people were watching me¡ªprobably because they were. I recited the oath. I took the hilt from my robe, went up to the moon altar, and raised it. The moonbeam struck my hilt. The blade started appearing¡ White¡ ¡°WHITE!? What does that mean???¡± I thought, too shocked to know what to feel. It wasn¡¯t white; it was colorless, like a basic silver sword radiating a faint white light. Complete silence. No one expected what had just happened. Even the priest and the king looked at me with questioning eyes. ¡°All right, young man, we have many more to knight. Please return to your seat,¡± the priest suddenly said with a fake smile. I didn¡¯t return to my seat. I just left the temple with my new sword.
