《Arkrai Themia: Humble Beginnings》 Prologue Map of Atlas

Prologue:

Aegia Continent, Nation of Hoshino, Ryuga Capital Region Year 1788, March 12th 2 years ago¡¡ In the blooming spring season in the Nation of Hoshino, the pink Sakura tree blossomed in all its beauty and glory. That day was also the birthday of the youngest and elegant Princess of Hoshino. The Month of March is a time every year the Lunar Blossom festival is celebrated nationwide. 12th March was the birthday of the Princess, Sakura Narukama of the royal family. As the day progressed she got many gifts and well-wishes from her friends, family and her people. She was in a beautiful Pink Kimono representing the beautiful Sakura Blossoms and Kanzashi with a white flowers to represent the light of the Lunar crest. She looked absolutely stunning. It was the evening as the moon was appearing amidst the disappearing dew of the sun. The dark sky was lit by the shining crescent, illuminating Sakura¡¯s porcelain white skin and shining her green emerald eyes. As she walked outside the Palace boundaries and walls, many people saw her and were enthralled by her beauty. She made way to the Sakura Blossom Festival Zone with a few of her friends from Noble families who were close to the royal family. Nonoa: ¡°Sakura-san, What do you wish for your birthday and this Lunar Blossom festival¡± Nonoa was a 17 year old girl part of the Noble families associated with the Narukama Royal Family, She was also of Sakura¡¯s Age and her close friends. Sakura: ¡°I am not sure about it Nonoa-san¡¡I will think about it¡¡± Emi: ¡°What do you mean you will think about it? You have nothing in mind?¡± Like Nonoa, Emi was also of Nobel family heritage and was also Sakura¡¯s close friend but was a year younger. As the 3 headed to the Festival area it was lit up with many lanterns around and with many shops and stalls selling their goods with a lively atmosphere . They then heard a cry for help and then suddenly the whole area was a chaos of people running away from something. Sakura, Nonoa and Emi were confused and anxious. Sakura: ¡°What''s going on!?¡± Suddenly a huge green-blue lion-alien looking catastrophe creature was tearing up shops and causing huge havoc to the place. People were screaming for help, crying and the whole festive mood changed to doom and chaos. The monster then saw Sakura and charged towards her. Sakura couldn''t do anything but stay still in fear, however someone shot the Monster and it flung to the side. Sakura awoke from her daze and looked at who shot the monster. Blonde guy in a Black Coat and Suit: ¡°Ladies! Leave! I will take care of this¡± Sakura was a bit dazed from her initial shock, but Nonoa pulled her away while Emi ran away with the 2. Blonde guy in a Black Coat and Suit: ¡°Alright it''s time to deal with this Catastrophe menace causing chaos¡± The Monster got up and roared at the Guy, The Guy was not a Hoshinese but a Foreign Diplomat-Trainee and Agent from Fornia for Euravian Leagues¡¯s International Mission Committee. His name Callen Lorenzo Callen: ¡°You''re going down!¡± (Fires Shot at the Monster with Pistol) The Monster groaned as the shots fired onto it, it charged at Callen but he used his grapple and dodged the attack. Callen kept firing shots at it while dodging the attacks elegantly with his esteemed agility. Callen then saw a weak spot on the Monster¡¯s back, then he took a nearby Hoshinese War Spear and used his grapple to get airtime and land a critical hit on the Monster¡¯s weak spot, effectively defeating it. The Monster groaned as it collapsed¡.then its corpse withered away. Callen: ¡°heh¡..that was a hard-time¡.Mama-Mia¡.¡± From the Side some people and Sakura watched the fight, all amazed at the Foreigner¡¯s amazing fighting skills. As Callen faces Sakura, his handsome face gleamed with his genuine smile, with his messy blonde hair waving in the air. Sakura then felt something developing within her, Her heart beating rapidly at his appearance. She blushed and stared at him with awe, a deep desire and need growing within her. Nonoa: ¡°Sakura-san¡.You seem to be staring at him¡± Sakura awoke from her daze and blushed hard like a tomato, but she found out what she was feeling and she was shocked but¡accepting of her new found feelings. As the crowds dissipated, Sakura couldn''t help but run towards Callen. Sakura: ¡°Umm Hello?......Can we¡we t-talk?¡± Callen turned to look at Sakura with a surprised face, he was facing the Princess of the nation. Callen then bowed in respect suddenly. Callen: ¡°M-My Milady¡.I am sorry for being rude¡..i am Callen Lorenzo working for the ELIMC, I am from Fornia¡± Sakura: ¡°N-No it''s fine¡.Please get up¡.I want to thank you for saving me¡.saving everyone¡¡± Callen: (Get up) ¡°It''s no biggie, I was doing what i should¡± Sakura: (Concerned) ¡°Are you hurt? Let me check up on you¡±This narrative has been purloined without the author''s approval. Report any appearances on Amazon. Callen blushed a little, A beautiful princess showing care for him was taking him off guard. Callen: ¡°No No it''s fine really-¡± (Sakura interrupted him and checked on him anyway) Callen: (Shocked) ¡°Milady! I said it was fine-¡± Sakura: ¡°Thank the lunar god you are not hurt ... .injuries are serious you know!¡± (She pouts, but it was cute) Callen: (Blushes) ¡°Ummm¡.Thank you¡..Yes i will take Note¡± Sakura¡¯s heart was beating super fast, she was showing care for this foreigner who probably stole her heart. Him being close made her fall for him even more, she was already madly in-love with Callen and couldn''t even deny it. Sakura: ¡°Callen-San¡.can we meet again?¡± (She blushed) Callen: ¡°M-Meet? Did I hear it correctly?¡± Sakura nodded, she looked away a little¡hiding her blush. Callen: ¡°S-sure my Milady¡as you wish¡¡± (Blushes) Sakura''s expression then beamed with happiness when she heard Callen agree to it. She then told him to meet in a private spot where they can hang out secretly. From there, the two¡¯s relationship then went deeper intimately, creating a connection of unbreakable love between Princess and Foreign agent, a Forbidden Love. Present Day Year 1780, April 4th In a grand, ornately decorated room within the palace, a beautiful princess with long, flowing black hair sat alone on her bed, illuminated by the soft glow of moonlight streaming through the window. Her eyes, filled with sorrow, glistened as she fought back tears. Tomorrow was to be her wedding day¡ªa union arranged with a noble family close to the Hoshinese royal court. Yet, her heart yearned for someone else: a foreign diplomat from Fornia, a distant nation on the Euravia continent. She met him two years ago at the enchanting Lunar Blossom Festival, and from that moment, their hearts became intertwined in a secret romance forbidden by the xenophobic traditions of her homeland, despite its nominal membership in the Vanguard Global Alliance. The youngest of four royal siblings, Sakura had always felt suffocated by her station. All she truly desired was freedom¡ªfreedom to choose her path, to love whom she wished, and to live without the constraints of duty and expectation. As she grappled with her despair, the faint sound of movement broke the silence. Startled, she turned towards the window to see a tall, blonde man, clad in a crisp suit and white capelet, standing casually on the sill. ¡°Oh my, my¡ Are you the beauty dating my younger brother?¡± he said, a playful smirk lighting his face. ¡°Who¡¯s there?¡± Sakura demanded, rising to her feet, her voice a mix of fear and indignation. The man stepped lightly into the room, offering a small bow. ¡°My name is Callux,¡± he said smoothly. ¡°I am the head captain of the Fornia Overseas Patrol Mission stationed in Hoshino. And yes, I¡¯m Callen¡¯s brother.¡± Sakura¡¯s eyes widened in shock. ¡°Y-You¡¯re Callen¡¯s brother?¡± she stammered. ¡°Indeed, my lady,¡± Callux replied. ¡°You two may believe your relationship is a closely guarded secret, but I¡¯ve known about it for quite some time. And might I say,¡± he added with a wink, ¡°it¡¯s rather touching.¡± Tears welled up in Sakura¡¯s eyes, her carefully maintained composure unraveling. ¡°I¡ I love him so much,¡± she admitted. ¡°But this marriage¡ I hate it! I despise¡ª¡± ¡°Why don¡¯t you elope?¡± Callux interjected nonchalantly. Sakura stared at him, stunned. ¡°We tried,¡± she confessed. ¡°But Callen was afraid¡ afraid for my well-being, as if I¡¯d somehow manage without him!¡± Callux chuckled. ¡°Well, dear sister-in-law-to-be, that¡¯s exactly why I¡¯ve convinced him otherwise.¡± At that moment, another blonde figure appeared beside Callux, this one shorter but no less striking. Sakura¡¯s breath caught as she recognized him. ¡°Callen?¡± she whispered. He stepped forward, his expression earnest. ¡°Sakura,¡± he said softly, ¡°I¡¯m ready. If you want this¡ if you want us¡ then let¡¯s go.¡± Tears spilling over, Sakura ran to him, throwing her arms around his neck. ¡°Please take me away from here!¡± she cried. ¡°I don¡¯t care about anything else. I just want to be with you!¡± Callen held her tightly, his voice firm. ¡°I will, Sakura. I promise.¡± Callux clapped his hands. ¡°Alright, lovebirds. Let¡¯s not waste any more time. Callen, pick up your queen¡ªprincess style, if you please¡ªand let¡¯s grapple out of here.¡± Without hesitation, Callen swept Sakura into his arms. She clung to him as he and Callux used grapples to descend silently from the palace and escape into the shadowed streets. Their destination was Ryuga Port, where a passenger ship would ferry them to safety. As they reached the docks under the cover of night, Callux handed Callen a pouch containing money and forged visa tickets. ¡°Take these,¡± he said. ¡°The ship will take you to Temasek in Eastern Aegia. I¡¯ll meet you there in three days. Until then, stay hidden.¡± Sakura looked at him with tearful gratitude. ¡°Thank you, Callux. Truly¡ I will never forget this.¡± Onboard the ship, the couple secured an empty cabin where they could remain unseen for the journey. In the quiet intimacy of their room, the weight of their decision began to sink in. Sakura leaned against Callen, her head on his shoulder, as they shared a moment of reflection. Breaking the silence, Callen took her hand. ¡°Sakura¡ do you want to be my wife?¡± Her heart skipped a beat. Tears of joy filled her eyes as she gazed up at him. ¡°Y-Yes,¡± she whispered. ¡°More than anything.¡± He smiled, relief and love evident in his eyes. ¡°Then we¡¯ll build our life together,¡± he said. ¡°In Temasek, where my mother¡¯s journey began, we¡¯ll start our own chapter.¡± Snuggling closer, Sakura sighed contentedly. ¡°Temasek¡ it sounds like a beautiful place. I can¡¯t wait to make it our home.¡± After a moment, she looked up at him, her cheeks pink. ¡°Callen¡ how many children do you think we¡¯ll have?¡± He chuckled, brushing a strand of hair from her face. ¡°As many as you want, my princess.¡± Sakura¡¯s eyes sparkled. ¡°I want a big family¡ six kids!¡± she declared eagerly, imagining the life ahead. Laughing, Callen pulled her close. ¡°Anything for you,¡± he said warmly. And as the ship sailed towards freedom, they held each other, their hearts full of hope for the future they would build together. Chapter 1: Atlas Exploration Group

Chapter 1 : Atlas Exploration Corps

Aegia Continent, Nation of Temasik, Temasik Suburban Area Twenty-three years later¡ In the island nation located in Eastern Aegia, a peaceful and vibrant region where people from many cultures coexisted, a quiet neighborhood along the western coast served as the backdrop to countless stories. On this day, five siblings were walking home from school, their conversation light but tinged with exhaustion. Satoshi: "Ughhh¡ today was exhausting, don¡¯t you think?" Shirou: "Absolutely. It felt like it would never end." Keiko: "I just want to flop onto my bed and never move again." Taiyon: "Same here. I¡¯m going to take the best nap of my life." Hikaru: "Me? I¡¯ll probably hop on a game with my friends." Shirou: "Count me in for that!" The five siblings¡ªSatoshi, the oldest at 17; Shirou and Keiko, 16-year-old twins; Taiyon, 14; and Hikaru, the youngest at 13¡ªchattered animatedly as they walked. They were part of the Lorenzo family, a lively group with Fornian and Hoshinese heritage. Shirou: "Too bad for Hikami. She¡¯s so studious she¡¯s staying back for extra lessons. Seems like our younger fraternal twin siblings are way less chill than us." Keiko: "You¡¯re not wrong. Hikaru and Hikami are total opposites of us." Hikaru: "Well, she and I aim for excellence¡ unlike you two." Taiyon: "Alright, you three. Enough bickering. Satoshi and I are way too tired to deal with this." Hikami, Hikaru¡¯s younger twin, had stayed back at school for supplementary exam classes. She was the youngest of the nine siblings in the Lorenzo family. When the five reached their home, a modest but cozy house surrounded by a neat yard, they drifted off to their respective rooms. Shirou and Keiko shared a bunk bed. As soon as Keiko climbed up to her top bunk and flopped down, Shirou lay on the bottom bunk, lost in thought. Shirou: "Keiko¡" Keiko: "Y-Yeah?" Shirou: "I¡¯ve been thinking¡ should I join the Atlas Exploration Corps?" Keiko bolted upright, shock written all over her face. Keiko: "What?! You want to join that? You¡¯re serious about being an explorer?" Shirou: "Yeah¡ I want to see the world. Explore Atlas." Keiko: "You know Mom¡¯s the biggest worrywart alive, right? No way she¡¯ll let you! She practically keeps us all on leashes!" Shirou: "I¡¯m thinking about it after high school, once I¡¯m 18." Keiko: "Good luck, then. Mom¡¯ll ground you for just asking, let alone doing it. Hell, she¡¯d probably ground you for even thinking about it." Shirou: "Maybe she¡¯s changed since we were kids. Maybe she¡¯ll understand." Keiko: "Well, don¡¯t say I didn¡¯t warn you." Dinner that evening was a lively affair, with all the Lorenzo siblings present except for Haruna, the 20-year-old third sibling studying medicine overseas. The eldest, Elena at 24 who was a Fashion Designer for the Temasik Creativity Center; 3rd eldest, Sumire at 21 was in her 2rd year studying Commerce ; and fourth brother, Kaien at 19 working and studying to be a public service officer, joined Satoshi, Keiko, Shirou, Taiyon, Hikaru, and Hikami around the large dining table, the 2nd eldest sibling Haruna was 22 and she was Overseas studying Medicine in her 3rd year and was absent. Chatter filled the air until Shirou broke the flow with an unexpected announcement. Shirou: "Mom, Dad¡ I want to join the Atlas Exploration Corps." The room went silent, save for the clatter of utensils dropping onto plates. Shock was written across everyone¡¯s faces¡ªeveryone, except Keiko, who gave Shirou a knowing look as if to say, ¡°Told you so.¡±The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident. The Atlas Exploration Corps was a global organization dedicated to studying Catastrophe and Ethereal activity, exploring uncharted parts of Atlas, and conducting scientific research. Though it had regiments specializing in combat, many Corps members focused solely on exploration. Even so, the Corps¡¯ reputation was tied to dangerous encounters, given Atlas¡¯s history with Catastrophe entities. Sakura (mother): "The Exploration Corps?! Of all things, you want to join them?!" Her voice trembled with a mix of fear and anger. Callen (father): "Honey, calm down¡ª" Sakura: "Calm down?! Our son wants to risk his life! I won¡¯t allow it!" Shirou: "But¡ª" Sakura: "No! Absolutely not! It¡¯s too dangerous!" Callen (gently): "Let¡¯s hear him out, Sakura." Sakura¡¯s sharp gaze softened slightly at Callen¡¯s calm tone, though her worry was palpable. Callen turned to Shirou, silently encouraging him to explain. Shirou: "I understand your concerns, Mom. I really do. But I feel this pull toward the Corps¡ªan innate desire to explore and discover. I want to see the wonders of Atlas for myself." Sakura: "What about us, Shirou? What if something happens to you? This family can¡¯t afford to lose you." Callen: "Sakura, you know the Corps has divisions that don¡¯t involve fighting." Sakura: "Even so¡ it¡¯s dangerous. What if he encounters something he can¡¯t handle?" Callen: "He¡¯s 16, and he¡¯ll be 18 before he makes any decisions. We¡¯ll cross that bridge when we come to it." Sakura sighed, torn between her instincts to protect her son and the reality that he was growing up. The table settled into uneasy silence, the earlier lively atmosphere gone. Later, Shirou stood on the balcony of his room, gazing at the twilight sky. The distant hum of traffic and faint laughter of children playing drifted through the evening air. He mulled over the argument at dinner, unsure whether he¡¯d made progress or stirred more tension. The door creaked open, and Keiko stepped in. Without a word, she joined Shirou on the balcony. Keiko: "You okay, bro?" Shirou: "Yeah, just thinking. It¡¯s hard to see Mom so worried." Keiko: "That¡¯s how she is. She means well, but she¡¯ll never stop worrying." Shirou: "Still, I can¡¯t shake this feeling. Joining the Corps feels¡ right." Keiko: "You¡¯ve got two years to figure it out. Who knows? Maybe Mom will come around." Shirou (wryly): "You think so?" Keiko: "Maybe. Or she¡¯ll double down. Best have a Plan B." Shirou: "Like staying home forever? No thanks." Keiko laughed, nudging him playfully. Keiko: "Whatever you decide, we¡¯ve got your back." Shirou smiled, grateful for his sister¡¯s support. As the stars began to dot the night sky, he resolved to hold onto his dreams, even if the path ahead remained uncertain. Later that night, the Lorenzo household had quieted down, the din of the evening fading into calm. Shirou sat at his desk, leafing through an old book about Atlas¡¯s history that Kaien had gifted him years ago. He absentmindedly traced the worn edges of the page, the words blurring into a cacophony of imagined adventures and uncharted horizons. He had always been drawn to the idea of the unknown¡ªthe ancient ruins, hidden biomes, and myths tied to Atlas¡¯s chaotic formation. To Shirou, the Corps wasn¡¯t just about dangerous missions; it was about pushing boundaries, understanding the world, and forging one¡¯s path. The sound of a soft knock at his door pulled him out of his thoughts. Shirou: ¡°Come in.¡± The door creaked open, and Taiyon¡¯s head peeked through. Taiyon: ¡°Mind if I sit here for a bit?¡± Shirou nodded, gesturing toward the chair by the window. Taiyon shuffled in and perched himself there, his frame slightly hunched with residual fatigue from the day. Taiyon: ¡°So¡ about dinner. Mom¡¯s not mad mad, you know.¡± Shirou: ¡°She seemed furious to me.¡± Taiyon: ¡°Nah, she¡¯s scared. That¡¯s different.¡± Shirou closed the book, giving his younger brother a questioning look. Taiyon: ¡°You know how Mom is. After that big fight with those bullies a long time ago, she never stopped being on high alert with us. And also the time some older teenage boys gave almost gave us a cigarette, Mom saw it and chased them with a stick looking all furious, she never let us interact with older boys again¡± Shirou: ¡°You also mean when Haruna stormed the playground with that wooden stick too and chased everyone who dared harm or try to influence us in a bad way?¡± Taiyon grinned. Taiyon: ¡°Exactly. You almost broke your arm, and Haruna wouldn¡¯t calm down for days after that. If she wasn¡¯t studying in Arkansa, she¡¯d hover around us like a hawk. Guess Mom took that same protectiveness to heart and multiplied it by nine.¡± Shirou: ¡°Makes sense.¡± Taiyon leaned back, staring out at the faint streetlights that dotted their coastal neighborhood. Taiyon: ¡°I think you joining the Corps would actually be¡ pretty cool. But you better not leave me stuck cleaning up your share of chores when you¡¯re gone.¡± Shirou smirked. Shirou: ¡°I¡¯ll owe you. Big time.¡± Taiyon: ¡°You already do.¡± The brothers chuckled softly before Taiyon stood, stretched, and ambled toward the door. Taiyon: ¡°Good luck convincing Mom, though. You¡¯ve got your work cut out for you.¡± When Taiyon left, Shirou lingered at the desk, pondering the exchange. His family¡¯s worries weighed heavily on him, but so did the call of his dreams. Chapter 2: Sibling Dynamics

Chapter 2: Sibling Dynamics

After the intense argument with their mother at dinner, Shirou couldn¡¯t help but sigh at her overprotectiveness. As much as he wanted her approval, the restrictive concern began to weigh heavily on him. His room, shared with Keiko, provided some solace from the storm, but even that seemed to lose its peace. The walls, usually a safe haven, felt suffocating now, with the weight of his mother¡¯s expectations and his own yearning for something more pressing down on him. The brief respite, however, was short-lived. Without warning, the door suddenly burst open, and Elena stepped in, her face a mix of determination and concern. Her entry was swift and unmistakable, and behind her was Sumire, who quickly followed, closing the door with a soft click. Elena: ¡°Shirou.¡± Sumire: ¡°We need to talk.¡± Keiko (frowning, her lips curled downward): ¡°Huh? What now?¡± Sumire (crossing her arms): ¡°We¡¯re not allowed to care about our brother?¡± Shirou (sighing, leaning back on the bed): ¡°There¡¯s nothing to talk about.¡± Elena: ¡°You don¡¯t get to decide that.¡± Keiko shot Shirou a knowing look, her eyes narrowing in mild exasperation. She¡¯d been expecting this. The calm before the storm was always fragile, and she could tell their eldest sisters had made it their mission to talk some sense into Shirou. But luckily, it wasn¡¯t Haruna who had come barging in this time. If their fiercely protective older sister had shown up, there would have been far less room for discussion. Haruna was studying overseas in the nation of Arkansa, pursuing her medical studies with a fervor that only Haruna could match. As intense as she was about her role as the protector of her younger siblings, the weight of her absence made her overbearing presence even more apparent. But the family understood¡ªHaruna was at a crucial stage in her life, focused on becoming a doctor, learning and training in Arkansa with aspirations that could change the course of her future, even if it meant stepping back from her role as the familial sentinel. Instead, Elena and Sumire had stepped up in Haruna¡¯s place. Haruna, after all, had always been the most overprotective. She used to intimidate anyone who dared tease or harm her younger siblings¡ªbeating them up without a second thought. Back in their childhood, no one dared mess with her, for she had that special brand of fierceness only an older sister could possess. Elena took a seat across from Shirou, her face still set with determination, but with an underlying worry that softened her sharp edges. Sumire perched on the lower bunk of Keiko¡¯s bed, arms still crossed, eyes flicking to Shirou with a certain intensity. Elena: ¡°What¡¯s this about joining the Atlas Exploration Corps? You¡¯re seriously thinking about putting yourself in danger? You know what we¡¯ve all been through¡ it¡¯s reckless.¡± Shirou: ¡°It¡¯s not just danger. It¡¯s exploration, discovery¡ something bigger than me. There¡¯s a whole world out there. I¡¯m tired of being cooped up here.¡± Sumire (softly, the worry creeping into her tone): ¡°What about us? We don¡¯t want to lose you. What if something happens? We can¡¯t live with that.¡± Elena: ¡°Do you really think Mom could handle it? You out there, fighting monsters? She''s already torn up about it, Shirou.¡± The mention of their mother struck Shirou deep. His thoughts lingered on the conversation at dinner, on how fiercely his mom had argued for him to stay. Her concern had felt smothering at the time, but he couldn¡¯t deny the love behind it. The last thing he wanted was to be the cause of her pain. Keiko cut in before the mood could fully turn to gloom, trying to balance the rising tensions. She was always the peacekeeper, even when tensions between the siblings flared. Keiko: ¡°It¡¯s not like he¡¯s leaving tomorrow. He¡¯s got two years to decide. Can¡¯t we at least give him that much space?¡± Elena: ¡°Two years won¡¯t stop Mom from worrying. You think she¡¯s the only one who¡¯ll be a mess about this?¡± Sumire: ¡°We get it, Shirou. You want adventure. But why not stay here? Go to college? Find your purpose, but without risking your life.¡± Shirou stood up, his frustration bubbling to the surface despite himself. He paced the small room for a few moments, his fingers tugging at his sleeves as the anger coiled inside him. Shirou: ¡°Staying safe isn¡¯t living! I can¡¯t just sit here, wondering what could¡¯ve been, just because everyone else wants me to stay comfortable and unscathed. There¡¯s more out there, and I can¡¯t just wait around forever!¡± Elena¡¯s face softened at his words, but the concern still laced through her expression. It was clear she understood, but the deep fear for her younger brother didn¡¯t budge. Elena: ¡°We¡¯re not trying to hold you back. We just¡ we just don¡¯t want to lose you.¡± The sincerity in her voice caused the tension to break. Shirou couldn¡¯t help the tightness in his chest as he processed her words. He wanted to stay angry, but the love behind her concern¡ªher words, her eyes¡ªdisarmed him. His frustration dissipated, leaving a more conflicted sadness in its place. The room settled into an uncomfortable silence, each sibling lost in their thoughts. That¡¯s when Keiko stepped in again, looking at everyone with a tone of finality. She was done with the fighting, even if it wasn¡¯t yet over.If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it. Keiko: ¡°Look, we all want what¡¯s best for you. Instead of yelling, how about we just¡ support you? Help you prepare for whatever path you choose? But we can¡¯t do that if we¡¯re all at each other¡¯s throats.¡± Elena sighed, her shoulders dropping as if the weight of the conversation finally wore her down. She reluctantly nodded. Elena: ¡°Fine. But you¡¯d better promise to call if things get dangerous. Got it?¡± Sumire (punching Shirou''s shoulder, lightheartedly but with a hint of firmness): ¡°And don¡¯t think we won¡¯t keep tabs on you. You¡¯re still our little brother, no matter what.¡± Shirou couldn¡¯t help but smile despite himself, the sharp edge of frustration replaced with a warm wave of affection for his sisters. Shirou: ¡°Yeah, I figured. Thanks, you guys.¡± And with that, both Elena and Sumire reluctantly left the room. Their sternness had faded, replaced by quiet concern. The weight of the conversation lingered in the air as the door clicked shut behind them. For a moment, Shirou and Keiko sat in silence, the echoes of the discussion still reverberating in their minds. After a long moment of stillness, Keiko broke the silence with a grin. Keiko: ¡°Told you they¡¯d come for you. But hey, at least you got off easy. Haruna¡¯s not here.¡± Shirou: ¡°Yeah, I¡¯ll count my blessings.¡± A quiet camaraderie passed between them as the moment of tension slipped away. The future still felt uncertain, but in the presence of Keiko¡¯s steadfast support, Shirou was able to breathe a little easier. He didn¡¯t know where life would take him or what might come next, but for the first time in a while, he felt he might have the strength to meet it head-on. However, the atmosphere of peace didn¡¯t last long. There was another knock at the door before it swung open again, but this time, it wasn¡¯t one of his sisters. The door creaked open to reveal Satoshi, standing with a smug look on his face. Satoshi: ¡°My, my¡ If it isn¡¯t Elena and Sumi worrying about the twins~¡± Sumire (looking frustrated, standing up quickly): ¡°Sato¡ This is between us¡¡± Satoshi: ¡°Aww~ I¡¯m hurt that my big sis is pushing me away~¡± Sumire (annoyed, gesturing to him with exasperation): ¡°You¡¯re not here for a serious conversation. Please, leave.¡± Satoshi stood unbothered, his characteristic teasing grin only growing. Satoshi: ¡°Hey, Shirou, my man¡ I support your passion for kicking ethereal and Catastrophe ass¡ª" Sumire (interrupting): ¡°He is NOT fighting monsters! Stop encouraging him!¡± Satoshi (playfully shrugging): ¡°Oh, that¡¯s no fun.¡± Sumire: ¡°Just get out! You¡¯re such a bad influence on our younger siblings!¡± The bickering continued for a moment before Elena shot Satoshi a look. The ¡°Get out or I will scream¡± face, as it was often called in their family, fell on Satoshi¡ªbut he clearly missed the cue and kept joking around, completely unaware of how annoyed Sumire and Elena were growing. But, as if by magic, the situation was suddenly defused. The door opened again, and in walked Kaien, the calm and collected one who had an uncanny ability to bring some semblance of peace to any chaotic situation. He barely glanced at the room¡¯s inhabitants before addressing the playful pest standing by the door. Kaien: ¡°Are you annoying them again?¡± His tone was calm but pointed, and Satoshi immediately froze. He looked at Kaien, then at Elena and Sumire, before noticing the growing discomfort in the room. His teasing was no longer as fun when Kaien was around. Kaien: ¡°Just leave them be, Sato. Stop poking into their matters.¡± Satoshi (feigning innocence): ¡°I wasn¡¯t¡ª¡± But Kaien wasn¡¯t having any of it. He grabbed Satoshi by the arm, pulling him out of the room with surprising strength for someone who preferred peace. Elena and Sumire exhaled in relief, the momentary chaos melting away as the door finally shut behind the two. Sumire: ¡°Thank God Kaien came in. I¡¯m not sure I could have lasted another second with that punk.¡± Keiko: ¡°You and Sato are like a cobra and a mongoose¡ never get along, huh?¡± As the laughter from Keiko subsided, Elena and Sumire turned back to Shirou, who had barely registered the interruption. Elena: ¡°Once Haruna comes back, she will hear about this.¡± Shirou: ¡°What!? Why!?¡± Sumire: ¡°She¡¯s much more capable of handling this than we are. And she is our sister too, after all.¡± Keiko (teasing but concerned): ¡°Hell will break loose if she knows.¡± Elena: ¡°But it¡¯s still important that she knows. Haruna is still family.¡± Shirou groaned inwardly at the thought of Haruna returning and immediately setting things in motion once more. Her overprotectiveness was intense, and dealing with her wrath was something none of them looked forward to. Finally, both Elena and Sumire made their exit. The door clicked shut once more, and Shirou and Keiko exchanged weary glances. The tension had faded, but the undercurrent of their family dynamics lingered. They knew the battle for his independence wasn¡¯t over¡ªnot by a long shot. Shirou: (Sarcastically)¡°Well, at least I know Haruna will have my back, right?¡± Keiko: ¡°And not let you leave this house until you''re twenty, probably.¡± They both chuckled lightly, the awkwardness finally shifting into the warm familiarity of shared mischief, knowing whatever came next, they¡¯d face it together. Chapter 3: The Great Emanators of Atlas and Temasik¡¯s Dark Knight

Over 1000 years ago, when humanity was still finding its foothold in the world, the elements became the key to power. The five basic forces¡ªFire, Water, Wind, Rock, and Flora¡ªbegan to be understood and harnessed. Those who could master the manipulation of these elements became known as Emanators, revered individuals capable of commanding nature itself. In time, humanity discovered and learned to control Thunder, Shadow, Light, and Ice, abilities that expanded the power of Emanators and elevated them to new heights. But with greatness came dangerous consequences. The ancient empire of Caldyon, a once-thriving civilization that spanned across the continents of Euveria, Aegia, and Sumera, became greedy. Driven by the pursuit of power, the empire dared to summon an ancient, otherworldly force¡ªa dark energy from beyond the stars that was never meant to be awakened. This malevolent force manifested as Etheral beings¡ªmysterious creatures that were both terrifying and destructive¡ªand their spawn, called Catastrophe Spawns, whose purpose was to ravage and consume the land in a violent purge. In an instant, the Caldyon Empire fell, torn apart by the havoc unleashed by the dark powers they had unleashed. The Catastrophe tore through entire nations, plunging the world into chaos and despair. Civilizations were lost, vast areas were scarred, and a sense of hopelessness gripped the surviving populace. The land itself seemed to weep in agony, as the Etherals continued to assault, killing any that dared stand in their way. Amid this destruction, a new hope emerged in the form of one man: Alexander Vanguard. A master Emanator, born with the ability to harness all nine elements¡ªthose of fire, water, wind, rock, flora, thunder, shadow, light, and ice. Alongside his fellow Emanators and with the divine blessing of the gods themselves, Alexander led the charge against the Etheral forces, determined to fight back the dark plague. The battle waged for years, but eventually, Alexander and his allies were able to seal the Etheral threat into ancient ruins scattered across the continents, ensuring that the creatures would no longer be able to spread their corruption. In the wake of this victory, the continent of Euveria, the hardest-hit region, was slowly rebuilt from the ground up. Twelve states formed, creating a new political structure, and these states would unite under a single entity known as The Euravian League. The peace was hard-won, but it marked a new era of cooperation between nations¡ªa lesson learned through suffering. Emanators, while born from the ancient bloodlines of those masters who had once wielded immense power, remained rare and precious. Over the following centuries, the title of Master of Emanation¡ªsomeone who could control all nine elements¡ªwas passed down through the ages. It was a position said to rival even the gods themselves, and for over 700 years, the title was held by 38 remarkable individuals. Now, the mantle had fallen to Seiji Narukama, a 21-year-old prince from Hoshino, the most recent in a long line of legendary masters, capable of wielding power that few could even dream of. Decades after the fall of the Caldyon Empire, the conflict between humanity and the Etherals reignited. Following the 10-Year Atlas War, during which the Etherals resurfaced to challenge humanity once again, humanity formed the Atlas Space Defense and Peace Corps (ASDPC). The Etherals, after a 550-year absence, reappeared suddenly from a spatial warp near the solar system and launched an assault on the people of Atlas. The ASDPC was created to protect against this renewed threat, ensuring the survival of the nations. The technology used by the ASDPC combined both human ingenuity and Etheral hybrid technology, salvaged from previous wars. This fusion of tech allowed for the creation of advanced weapons and military vehicles, all stationed across nations under the Vanguard Alliance, strategically positioned to prevent any future Etheral incursions. The dangers of the past had not yet subsided, and the remnants of the Caldyon Empire¡¯s transgressions echoed across time. Still, life moved forward. Shirou sat in his room, trying to absorb the entirety of his world¡¯s history. The Caldyon Empire¡¯s collapse, the subsequent Great Plague, the chaotic wars, and the resurgence of the Etherals all seemed so distant¡ªyet so connected, shaping the world around him. And now, with the Atlas Exploration Corps (AEC) in his sights, he felt the urgency to understand everything he could before taking the plunge into a world beyond what he had known. The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement. Shirou: Atlas has been through so much... so many lives lost... (He sighs) 1 a.m.... Guess I''ll head to bed... but first, some water. But as Shirou prepared to get water, the sudden sound of the front door creaking open caught his attention. He froze. The late hour, the quiet of the night¡ªsomething wasn¡¯t right. Shirou (taken aback): Who¡¯s coming in this late...? He slipped quietly from his room, finding his way to the hallway just in time to see his older brother, Satoshi, slip inside. Satoshi: S-Shirou?! Shirou: Sato, what are you doing out this late? Did you sneak out? Satoshi (hesitating, glancing nervously): Please... don¡¯t tell Mom... I beg you... Shirou: Alright, alright. I won¡¯t. Jeez... With a swift motion, Satoshi darted to his room and locked the door. Shirou, still unsure of what was going on, shook his head. Shirou (thinking): What¡¯s he hiding? Sneaking around... acting all weird... Oh well. He let it go for now, grabbed his water, and went back to bed. The next morning came too soon, and it was an ordinary Saturday¡ªexcept for the excitement pulsing through the house. Shirou¡¯s dad, Callen, was sitting in front of the TV, focused on the news broadcast. News (on TV): Breaking News! The Dark Knight strikes again, taking down criminals and rescuing hostages across the island. Callen (nodding with a thoughtful expression): Ah, he¡¯s at it again... This Dark Knight... Who is he...? (He smiles at Shirou) Good morning, son. Shirou: Dad, who is this Dark Knight? Callen: He¡¯s a vigilante, just like the ones in comic books¡ªexcept, you know, he¡¯s real. A lot of crime in Temasik has been stopped because of him. Shirou: That¡¯s incredible! Callen: I honestly thank whoever this person is. Just then, Sakura, Shirou¡¯s mom, entered the room, followed by Elena, who had brought breakfast to the table. Sakura: Good morning, darling! Breakfast is ready! (glancing at the TV) What¡¯s going on here? Callen: It¡¯s about the Dark Knight. He appeared 6 months ago and has nearly eradicated crime in Temasik. The island¡¯s safer than ever. Sakura: I¡¯ve never heard about him... That¡¯s amazing. (She sighs) Anyway... Shirou, darling, let¡¯s eat. Shirou: Coming, Mom. As the family gathered for breakfast, the conversation was dominated by discussions of the Dark Knight, the mysterious hero. All except for Satoshi, who sat quietly, eyes focused on his food, a subtle shift in his behavior that didn''t escape Shirou''s notice. Shirou: Sato, aren¡¯t you going to say something? This Dark Knight thing¡¯s exciting! Satoshi (pauses, looks up with a strange expression): Nah, I¡¯m just tired. Didn¡¯t get enough sleep last night. Shirou: Are you sure? You¡¯re quiet. Not like you at all. Satoshi (nervously smiling): Yeah, I¡¯m fine... Just a bit tired. Though Shirou didn''t push it any further, an uneasy feeling lingered. What was really going on with Satoshi?
