《Cultivator's Second Life in another World》 1. At the top of the world, now what? Yang Feng watched on with his spiritual sense from a hidden part of the sect in boredom. He had seen this scene countless times. The sect''s annual recruitment process. The bustling noises reminded him of when he himself first stood at the bottom of the gigantic stone stairs, awaiting the beginning of the ceremony. The teenagers, none older than the age of sixteen, stood nervously around, chatting with each other to dispel their turbid emotions. Some of them would be accepted into the sect as outer disciples. A lucky few could probably even catch the eye of an elder and enjoy an easier life within the sect. But most would not pass the recruitment process. Yang Feng turned his attention elsewhere. He scanned the entire sect and sighed in reminiscence. Thousands of mountain peaks stood high, each with its own collection of buildings and activities. Countless disciples were cultivating, sparring, refining pills, or doing other acts that would further them on the road of cultivation. But Yang Feng himself had already reached the end. Reaching the Immortal God Emperor realm and becoming the respected supreme ancestor of the Great Heavens Sect, he had nothing more to accomplish. All his enemies were dead, he had personally scattered their ashes to the winds. All his friends and companions were too, he had outlived every single one. Now he was all alone, sitting on the cold throne of the world. "Ancestor," a voice called out suddenly, distracting Yang Feng from his thoughts. It was the Sect Leader, a man looking to be in his mid-30s but was actually tens of thousands of years old. His name was Jian Song. Yang Feng had watched him grow from a young teenager to the powerhouse that he is today. "What''s the matter?" Yang Feng sent a voice transmission to Jian Song.Enjoying the story? I thought I told you not to disturb me over trivial matters." Jian Song awkwardly laughed. "We have no idea what it is, ancestor. The carvings on it are nothing like we''ve ever seen before. We tried to feed our qi into it, but it''s like a bottomless well." Yang Feng raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "Bring it in." Jian Song walked into the room, holding the relic. It appeared to be a black cube, coupled with strange markings and lines, faintly glowing white. The markings appeared to be in another language, one that Yang Feng did not recognize. Yang Feng was surprised. He had learned every single language under the Heavens, yet he had never seen this one. Jian Song, noticing Yang Feng''s interest in the cube, saluted and walked out of the room, leaving Yang Feng alone. Yang Feng tried to decipher the markings, to no avail. The markings seemed to twist and turn, revealing new combinations every time. He fed a little of his qi into the cube, for it to be absorbed completely. "Oh?" Even a little of his qi would normally overwhelm God-Grade spiritual weapons, yet the cube showed no reaction at all. "Let''s see how much you can handle." The pressure in the room drastically deepened and the objects on a nearby table started rattling. A whirlwind of spiritual energy began converging around Yang Feng. Torrential amounts of qi began to pour into the relic from Yang Feng''s open palm. The black cube showed no reaction at first, but after Yang Feng increased the pressure even more, it finally reacted. The white markings on the cube began to squirm and merge together, forming words on the top and bottom of the cube. These characters were in Yang Feng''s native language, allowing him to read them. The top part read: REINCARNATION While the bottom said: SAVE US One of the faces of the relic suddenly opened up and a bright light began to emanate from the inside. Yang Feng tried to harness his qi to protect himself from the sudden attack, but found that he could not sense his qi. Outside of his residence, dark clouds were forming and thick bolts of purple lightning flashed through the clouds. The daylight disappeared and it became pitch black. The disciples watched on in fear and awe while the elders quickly took precautions. "The Heavenly Dao?" Jian Song said, in quiet shock. Back in his residence, Yang Feng realized what was happening. The Heavenly Dao itself was restricting the flow of his qi. "Even you cannot violate the fundamental laws set." Yang Feng said to the Heavens. "Or did you forget?" The Heavenly Dao was not allowed to interfere with the actions and fate of its creations, otherwise it would suffer a severe backlash. The lightning outside became more violent the harder Yang Feng struggled to move his qi. Soon, the white light completely covered Yang Feng. The black cube dropped to the ground and slowly dissipated into nothing. After the light slowly faded, Yang Feng was nowhere to be seen. The dark clouds overhead dispersed and the daylight returned. Somewhere in the Heavens, a sigh resounded. 2. The beginning of an end A shrill buzzing sound caused Yang Feng to slowly open his eyes. He tried to move his limbs but found that he couldn''t. There was a majestic sky spanning across the universe in front of Yang Feng. The sky seemed to stretch on infinitely, having no seeable boundary. It was littered with endless colors and hues, awing anyone who laid their eyes on it. However, countless black spots were also squirming around in the distance. They tore cracks and ripped apart the space itself within the sky, leaving black stains in their wake. The buzzing sound grew louder. More black spots emerged from the stains left behind, causing the infection of the sky to spread even faster. The once glorious sky was now crawling with parasites, its former glory hidden behind swarms of black spots. The sky kept screaming. SAVE US The black spots eventually covered everything, obscuring Yang Feng''s vision. Yang Feng blinked and discovered that he was lying down on the ground. The scent of plants and dirt flooded his nose as he sat upright. It had been a long time since he had dreamed, or even slept. At his realm, his body was always in peak condition, not needing sleep or rest. Yang Feng glanced around. It appeared that he was in the middle of a forest, surrounded by countless trees and flora. The chirping of birds could be heard as the sunlight gently touched the soil wherever it could through the gaps in the myriad of branches and leaves. Yang Feng tried to circulate his qi, to discover that he could not. This time, however, was not due to the interference of the Heavenly Dao. His qi had completely disappeared from his body. Yang Feng stood up, to discover that his body felt weak and tender, a feeling that he had not known in a long time. His tempered body, alongside his qi, had also gone. He walked around, exploring his surroundings, to find a small and quiet pond.Unauthorized usage: this narrative is on Amazon without the author''s consent. Report any sightings. A white deer, drinking from the water, quickly ran away when it saw him approaching. Yang Feng ignored it and walked to the pond, examining his reflection in the water. What he saw was a youthful face, seemingly untouched by the vicissitudes of life. Yang Feng took a second and analyzed the condition of his body. He could feel that the bone age of this body was currently sixteen. Yang Feng felt that this was an interesting situation. He had been returned to when his body was sixteen in a completely foreign place. He thought back to what the black cube said. REINCARNATION He did not feel as if he had been reincarnated, still retaining all his previous memories and even his younger body. Yang Feng shook his head and went back to the task at hand. Even though he was an Immortal God Emperor in his prime, he was currently a young teenager who had yet to even reach the first level of the Body Tempering realm. Any major threat could instantly end his life. As if on cue, a giant bear walked out from the trees toward the pond. The two locked eyes, before the bear roared and started running toward Yang Feng. This was not a major threat. Having reached the pinnacle of swordsmanship in his previous life, merely losing all his cultivation did not mean that he was entirely helpless. Yang Feng stretched out two fingers and slashed out. The bear''s head was instantly severed and fell to the ground. Warm blood splattered over the green grass. The bear''s body continued for a couple more steps before collapsing to the ground. This was currently the strongest attack that Yang Feng could muster, as the Way of the Sword also required a strong body. However, it was enough for the bear. Yang Feng heard whimpering and looked over. There was a bear cub hiding in the bushes, trembling at the sight of its mother''s corpse. It was now defenseless without the protection of its mother. It would most likely die within a day or two to hungry predators. But such was its fate. Yang Feng turned around and continued exploring, searching for a shelter where he could safely practice until he was confident in his survival abilities. After all, he had no idea what was in these forests. He did not want to fall prey to some demon beast that was looking for food. After walking around for a bit more, Yang Feng stumbled across a cave that looked suitable. Strolling inside, the interior was not huge, but also not small enough to be cramped. There was a musty smell lingering in the air and cobwebs across the ceiling. For now, this would serve as his dwelling. Yang Feng sat down in the middle of the cave, legs crossed and eyes closed. Reciting the Boundless Heavens Sutra in his mind, a cultivation scripture that he created himself, he started absorbing the spiritual energy in the air. The spiritual energy flowed tremendously into his body, leaving him surprised. The quantity and quality of the spiritual energy was many times that of even his sect''s Heavenly Spiritual Pool. Yang Feng allowed the spiritual energy to nourish his muscles and bones, expelling impurities from his insides out of his skin. The black sludge coming out of his body dripped to the floor, evaporating into the wind. This continued until all the impurities contained within his body were eliminated. Yang Feng slowly opened his eyes. He was now in the first level of the Body Tempering realm. The Body Tempering realm was exactly as it sounded. Tempering the body and cultivating the muscles and bones, essentially rebirthing from a mortal to a cultivator. The starting point for everybody. Now, even three of those bears at the same time would not pose the slightest threat to him. However, this was not enough. Yang Feng quickly consolidated his realm and once again began absorbing the surrounding spiritual energy into his body. 3. The first steps of a long road The surrounding spiritual energy in the air poured into Yang Feng''s body, like a surging river. His body''s capacity for spiritual energy was seemingly infinite, absorbing every last wisp from the air. While other cultivation techniques had issues regarding the amount of spiritual energy that could be absorbed into the body, the Boundless Heavens Sutra had none. A shaky foundation from continuously absorbing spiritual energy was also not a problem, as the Boundless Heavens Sutra also removed this limitation. In theory, he could cultivate forever without interruptions until the spiritual energy in the air ran dry. Within a few minutes, Yang Feng quickly approached the ceiling of the first level of Body Tempering. He could feel every sinew, tendon, and muscle being continuously nourished by the spiritual energy. A loud crack reverberated throughout the cave as Yang Feng directly broke through to the second level of Body Tempering. There were in total nine levels to every major realm. Each level contained a qualitative leap in power on the journey of cultivation. Yang Feng let out a turbid breath and stabilized his realm. The residual spiritual energy was condensed in the air as a mist, giving the entire cave a mystical and ethereal feel. Drops of spiritual energy dripped onto the floor from the ceiling, quickly evaporating. Although Yang Feng could continue practicing, he chose not to. The first level of the Body Tempering realm was to allow the body to adapt and absorb the spiritual energy within the air. The second level was the perfect time to strengthen one''s foundation, allowing the path of cultivation in the future to be easier. Yang Feng did not have a weak foundation by any means, but strengthening it would only bring him benefits. He walked outside of the cave, having been essentially reborn from the mortal that walked inside just a few minutes ago. Now he was confident in killing demon beasts within the Body Tempering realm, maybe even leapfrogging and killing ones in the early levels of the Qi Refining realm. Yang Feng walked through the woods searching for the herbs that he needed. The plants and flora were all strange ones that he had never seen before in his countless years of living. It was of no matter, as herbs with similar properties would work just as well. Yang Feng searched around, quickly picking several herbs, especially ones with heavy Yang energy surrounding them. He was trying to create the Fire Spirit medicinal bath, suitable for strengthening the foundation of males. This novel''s true home is a different platform. Support the author by finding it there. Stooping over to pick another herb, his innumerable years of combat experience suddenly screamed danger. Swiftly catching an arrow that was aimed at his head, Yang Feng looked up. There were golden yellow eyes peering at him through the darkness of the shadows from the trees. Seeing his gaze, the unknown assailant attempted to flee, but Yang Feng was faster. He instantly caught up to the attacker, stopping a few feet away. It was a humanoid lizard covered in red scales, standing at a height of 2 meters tall. Donned in leather armor and a bow, with arrows on its back, it snarled at Yang Feng. "A subspecies of dragon?" Yang Feng wondered aloud. This was good. Now Yang Feng could instead create the superior version of the Fire Spirit bath, the Dragon Spirit bath, which required a portion of dragon blood. Although the beast in front of him was not a dragon, it contained a hint of their blood. Even though the Dragon Spirit bath would not be at maximum efficiency, it was still far ahead of the Fire Spirit bath. The lizardman reached down for its close-range weapon, a shortsword hanging on its waist. But before it could react, Yang Feng appeared in front of it, kicking it in the stomach. The beast sailed backward and struck a tree, causing the leaves to fall from its branches from the impact. Dazed, it attempted to stand up. Yang Feng merely struck it on its pressure points, causing it to fall unconscious. He then dragged it by its horns on the top of its head and walked back to his cave. He would have to be more cautious in the future. If there was one of these creatures, there would be more. Walking inside his cave, he used his swordsmanship to carve out a hole in the middle of the ground. Though he was not able to utilize qi due to having not entered the Qi Refining realm yet, Yang Feng could still use a portion of the Daos he had mastered. Using the Dao of Water, the spiritual energy in the air rushed into the hole and transmuted into water. Yang Feng then crushed the herbs in his hand into a fine powder and sprinkled them into the bath. The water in the hole surged and swirled together, the color turning into a deep red. Yang Feng then picked up the unconscious lizardman, cut it open, and began to drain its blood into the bath. The creature woke up halfway and watched its blood being siphoned away in horror, before attempting to struggle. Yang Feng merely slapped the beast asleep again and continued the process. Eventually, all the blood was drained from its body and Yang Feng tossed it aside. The bath churned once more and this time specks of gold could be seen inside the whirling water. Yang Feng removed his clothes and stepped into the bath, assuming a posture of meditation. The liquid continuously broke down his body and repaired it stronger than before. Cleansing his mind and ignoring the pain, Yang Feng began to recite the Boundless Heavens Sutra. His skin sizzled due to the heat emanating from the boiling liquid. Slowly, the red and gold disappeared from the bath as they were absorbed into Yang Feng''s body. Yang Feng opened his eyes, before punching outwards in front of him. The air whistled around his fist, before exploding outwards, creating a shockwave. His power had again increased several times compared to before. Good, he had now taken another step. Yang Feng stepped out of the bath, dried himself, and put his clothes back on. He used his finger as a chisel and began carving symbols on the mouth of the cave. After he was finished, Yang Feng drew spiritual energy from the air and drove it into the symbols. The cave entrance slowly disappeared from the outside view, having been camouflaged by Yang Feng. He could now cultivate in peace without worry of the dragonlike creatures tracking and finding him. Yang Feng sat down and resumed cultivating, striving to break through to the third level of Body Tempering. 4. The snake As Yang Feng breathed, the spiritual energy swirled around him. The walls of the cave glistened due to the excessive amount of condensation. Cultivating was not boring for Yang Feng; he found a simple type of joy within the peaceful meditation. However, this may be due to his cultivation method. There were some techniques that would cause extreme pain to the user in exchange for great power and a faster road in cultivating. Yang Feng felt those people were fools. Why rush the journey when you could take it all in stride? The condensed spiritual energy seeped into the walls of the cave, giving it a more exquisite feel. The bath contained within the hole also inadverently absorbed the energy from the air, quietly simmering. Having already broken through to the third level of Body Tempering, the fourth level was already in view. If any other cultivators saw this scene, they could only shake their heads and sigh. Breaking through the realms so quickly was almost unprecedented, only a true genius could accomplish it. This was also accompanied by the fact that Yang Feng had prior experience as well. A snake in the back of the cave, ignored by Yang Feng, arrived having slithered through an unknown crack. It felt the pressure emanating from Yang Feng and decided not to approach. However, it felt an enormous attraction to the mysterious energy condensing into liquid and dripping to the floor. It glided over to some before it evaporated and sapped at it with its forked tongue. Its eyes brightening, it wriggled all around the cave trying to drink the liquid quietly. Then, it slithered over to an unseen corner of the cave and fell asleep quickly. A mysterious light began to gather at the center of the snake''s head, fading away after a few seconds. Meanwhile, at the center of the cave, Yang Feng again broke through to the next level of the Body Tempering realm. At this stage, his body had already begun to receive a qualitative transformation. His bones and muscles were gradually becoming in tune with the spiritual energy within the air. It would not be long until he could utilize qi for basic techniques instead of having to rely on his knowledge and understanding of the Daos. After all, using the Daos was taxing on his currently weak body. Outside the cave, there were several lizardmen cautiously looking around the area. It seemed that they had noticed the disappearance of their comrade and were now scouring the area for any potential threats. The mouth of the cave had been camouflaged, and they walked right by, unaware of the fact that the enemy that they were searching for was right under their noses. One of the lizardmen, their apparent captain, shouted in his native tongue, causing the rest of the team to continue their search in another area. Yang Feng was not worried that the lizardmen would be able to find him. If they did, then his tens of thousands of years of researching and practicing formations would have been in vain. Even on the off chance that they were able to, he would not mind showing these beasts why the flowers are so red. If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation. Sensing yet another breakthrough coming, Yang Feng smiled wryly. The spiritual energy in this area was really too pure, as if having been undisturbed for hundreds of thousands, maybe even millions of years. All the Holy Lands in his past life would have waged a bloody war at all costs to secure this place. Of course, Yang Feng would not have interfered with their battle. Unless his sect was in dire trouble, he would not move a finger to help them. As the proclaimed emperor of all the Immortal Gods under the Heavens, he would not act rashly for some mere benefits. However, that did not mean he or his sect was easy to bully. Yang Feng had shown his dominance throughout the ages and wiped out many sects with great histories, as well as so-called geniuses that were born once every million years who thought he was a soft persimmon. Even without him, that kid Jian Song was enough to handle the rest of the trivial matters. Yang Feng remembered painstakingly breaking through each level of the Body Tempering realm with a mediocre cultivation method while scrounging for materials and pills. Those were truly the days that shaped him into the man he is. Back at the corner of the cave, the snake suddenly started squirming. Its skin beginning to peel, the thin snake began to rapidly molt, tail flicking around wildly. Soon, it was as if a new creature had emerged. With shining scales and a hint of mysticism contained within its pupils, it crawled out of its old shell. Having grown in size, it could not compare to the snake that it previously was. Still not daring to disturb Yang Feng, it again slithered to the puddles of spiritual energy on the ground and began greedily drinking. Yang Feng, not bothering the snake, observed it silently. It appeared that the creature had successfully absorbed the spiritual energy and had not imploded from the excess amount of vitality. That was surprising. However, Yang Feng discovered another pressing matter. It seemed that the snake had never encountered spiritual energy before. Yang Feng could sense that its body was reacting wildly with the matter. Observing the corpse of the lizardman, it seemed that the same went for it. Its body had never encountered or absorbed spiritual energy. That was nigh impossible. Living creatures, especially creatures with sentience like the lizardman, would inadvertently absorb tiny amounts of spiritual energy from the air. That is, unless the subconscious absorption of the spiritual energy from the air was not contained within its genetic memory. But how would that be possible? Spiritual energy had been around since the creation of the Heavens, Earth, and Man. But this was a completely different world, so it could be possible that the creatures here had never discovered the presence of another energy in the air. After all, Yang Feng had known about spiritual energy all his life, so it was a bit surprising to him that it did not exist as an energy in this world. This would explain why the spiritual energy was so fresh from the moment he arrived. It was not because the area he was in was special, the spiritual energy within the entire planet had simply never been touched before. But, if they did not use spiritual energy, then they had to utilize another kind of force. Yang Feng tried to explore the surrounding air around him to prod for another type of power, but failed. That was to be expected. Just as if the creatures in this world had never encountered spiritual energy, it would be a dream for him to find another type of energy so fast. But right now, what he had was time. He could slowly break apart and examine the nature of the world around him as he cultivated. Yang Feng had been cultivating for so long that multitasking alongside cultivating was as simple as a walk in the park. Crack! He was now at the fifth level of Body Tempering.
