《Reincarnators: The Flesh Tyrant》 Prologue It has been two months since the end of the world has stopped. The last one decimated, its eggs destroyed, nothing left but a blood smear on the ground. They were nightmares reincarnated into flesh, their only purpose to kill. The only way to survive was to hide, and let the others try fighting them to die. But they somehow managed to end it all. The nightmares gone, my work gone. The United States had secretly tried to use the nightmare to research and make their own. To try and make a predator for the alpha predator, and it was a difficult task. But I poured my life into this, losing everything I had. The first month of them being discovered I was assigned to research them, repurpose them. I studied for years, always trying to understand how they came to be. Were they in a frozen iceberg, that unfroze because of the climate? No, they were found too far inland. They could have come from Middle Earth, but that was fiction. I only learned one thing from them, that their bodies were only made for one thing and that was to kill. They were perfect for it. No weather was too severe for them, no climate was too diverse for them, and nothing stood in their way. They could repopulate faster than they died, and if you kill them before they laid their eggs, they would still hatch. The thing that no one knows though is that I have the last egg. And since I was let go of my job, and papers saying I was dead so no one came for me, I knew what I had to do. I had nothing left to live for so I knew what I had to do. I went to one of the few buildings left intact that I called home, a shaggy apartment building. As I walked up the stairs and unlocked the door I pulled out the egg, setting it on the countertop. You could be reading stolen content. Head to Royal Road for the genuine story. The egg membrane was clear, with no shell on the outside. You could clearly see the nightmare inside just sitting there waiting for its release. It looked so defenseless, even though you could see the claws and teeth it had. I was like God, I could end the nightmares, and the world could regrow and leave this all behind, or I could sacrifice myself and start the nightmare again. It was a funny thing really, I could kill the couple billion people left alive and Earth would be empty of anything alive if there are any animals left over. It would be very satisfying to have everyone who ever doubted me, the people who fired me, die. I decided to turn on the news to see if anything was interesting, which was a mistake. Turns out they decided to announce my death on the news as some "accident" in the lab. Well, that made me pissed. I walked back to the kitchen leaning on the countertop, staring at the egg. The nightmare inside beckoning me closer, it almost looked non-threatening the more I stared at it. As I got closer I picked it up and held it up to my eyes, truly admiring the details, almost as if it was art. As I fully decided what I was going to do I lifted it to my mouth. My guts getting butterflies, my fingers shaking, I put it to my lips and put it in my mouth, and swallowed. I felt nothing for the first few minutes but then I felt pain like nothing I felt before. I clenched all my muscles and staggered to the counter, trying not to fall. It was as if there was a shredder slowly going through my stomach, which there might as well be. I felt something going down my stomach it was small and wiggly, and that''s when an appendage cut through my stomach and in the air. That''s when I blacked out, and never woke up. Chapter 1 I slowly drifted in the endless expanse of darkness, floating as if I were underwater. I couldn''t move my limbs, but they slowly drifted around by themselves. I tried to breathe in but I couldn''t even do that, what''s even weirder was I thought my heart would be racing with panic but I didn''t hear or feel anything. Where the hell am I? My thoughts are the only sound in the expanse of the darkness, which gives me little to no comfort. It felt like an infinite amount of time floating just floating there, but for all I know it''s been a couple of hours. I tried to think of how I could have gotten here my thoughts of anything before this was cloudy. It was as if this was the only thing I knew. My only reason for existence was to float in this expanse, who knew how big? The only escape I had from this never-ending torture was sleep. I kept falling in and out of sleep, my dreams were pitch black just like where I was stuck. It was going to drive me insane if there wasn''t anything soon. Even a flicker of light would spark something inside of me I knew. Something to keep me from going insane, I couldn''t even talk to myself. Even that would be better than this. I soon accepted my fate of being stuck here for whatever the rest of my life was. For who knew how long I was just floating there when I saw something. It was distant but I could see something! If I could cry I would, for even something this distant was a relief. Just to know that I wasn''t alone in this expanse was amazing. The closer it got though the more I realized that might not be as amazing though. Even from this distance, I could tell something was off from whoever, or whatever this thing was. As it arrived it looked like a flesh mound, full of puss and oozing liquids coming out of openings from it. If I could throw up I would have at least multiple times by now. As it stopped it rocketed form a couple of dozen feet away from me it said, "Wall of Flesh" and just stood there. After it said that I saw another flash of light and it started to rocket towards me it just stood or floated there whatever it was doing. The second one while still far away but I could see a insectoid face. It only took a few moments before it got right to where the Wall of Flesh was and stopped staying perfectly still and said "Vrythax, God of Infestation". The things-Vrythax''s body looked like a gigantic centipede, but the carapace was as pitch black as the void around me, I could only see it because of the red and violet highlights on it. It had hundreds of thousands of legs on the undersize, and every single one was barbed and coated in a liquid, most likely poison. And as if on cue a third bright light suddenly popped up and started to barrel towards me. This one was harder to make out from such a distance, it was almost as if it didn''t have a clear form or body. I was only able to see it properly when it stopped next to Vrythax and stood perfectly still saying, "Phorymn God of Filth and Corruption". Its body looked like a giant slime ball that was half-dried. It had oozing mass of black sludge rolling down all over it while some parts looked like bones or metal. It also had bloated bubbles all over it, and every time one of them popped it turned hard, and another part of it turned to sludge. This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience. Suddenly a grotesque voice entered my ears "Mortal we are impressed with your sacrifice, even though it wasn''t you who created the parasite." It was the Wall of Flesh speaking. "Even though you weren''t even close to replicating the parasite that destroyed your world, you still destroyed everything." "W-What?" I said suddenly able to move my mouth "What do you mean I destroyed everything?" "Even though you just piggybacked off of a genius that is now killing many things as we are speaking, you still somehow managed to kill billions." The Wall of Flesh seemed a bit prideful talking about this "genius" that killed everyone I knew. This time Phorymn spoke its voice sounded like a blob of gelatine with a scream underneath it " And we want you on our side, even if you didn''t create something or make something deadly, you still are a threat to many around you". "You are a promising figure for us, we don''t want you going to the light side" This voice sounded almost serpentine but there were mandibles clicking that I knew belonged to Vrythax who was slowly circling me. "The light side?" I said "What is that? Are you things demons?" I suddenly panicked that I would be enslaved by demons or something. "No you foolish mortal, didn''t you hear us we are gods, just ones that like to kill, "Vrythax said, I could almost see a grin on its insectoid face. "Now mortal let''s quit the small talk and get to the reason why you''re here." Wall of Flesh said. "Choose me and I will give you the power to create biological structures that can destroy anything alive. You will be able to grow, shape, and choose what you create, anything you desire, you can make" It said almost like it was a game show host. "Choose me and you will have the power to create any horror you want, make a nest as big as you want, and kill as many things as you want, your creatures will fight and evolve, and you will even be able to evolve yourself, the only problem you''ll run into is the people who want you gone." Vrythax said staring all its eyes straight through me as if it was looking at my soul. Finally, Phorymn said "If you choose me you can corrupt anything and everything no matter if it''s alive or not. You will be able to absorb pure corruption and grow your mass to devour everything in your wake. You will be an unstoppable mass that can destroy anything." It said it as if it was almost bored. Well, this is a shocker, being stuck in a void with gods offering me powers, it was the first interaction in who knew how long so I decided to choose. It might even get me out of here if I choose, so why not? I immediately ruled out Phorymn, it was just not my thing to basically eat everything, and also it obviously didn''t really care about me or what I chose so that was pretty easy to decide. The last two though forced me to think through really hard. Wall of Flesh I could create basically everything and it would do what I want, but Vrythax would give me an ecosystem to create, in other words, a hive. Which I think is amazing, plus whatever I create can evolve by itself and I can too! I think my choice is pretty clear now. "I choose Vrythax." I say confident in my choice "Excellent!" it screeched "My hive shall grow to infest more! And with that, my world faded to blackness. I started feeling a small trickle of energy inside me, which surprised me at first but then I realized it must be the Queens killing things, or making things. All the rank up really did, though, was give me a little more energy and, I think, a little more strength. It was honestly surprisingly easy to rank up, but I suspect it won''t be that easy in the future. I explored the area where I first woke up and it seemed to be the end of a cave or tunnel. I also noticed that there appeared to be more fleshy things on the wall, and more organic mass in the stagnant pools of water. It was only small changes though, they still were interesting to see. There was moss all over the walls and ground in patches of growth, and there was a slight haze of fog that made everything humid, and damp. I walked down the tunnel to where the Queens were and just took a breath in and let it out, which sounded like a guttural wheeze. As I continued down the tunnel I saw something small moving in the haze so I walked over to it. When I got close enough to it was a parasite though it was dead. "Oh, wonder what killed it?" I said in surprise. I continued down the tunnel still taking my time, when I heard a scream coming down from the tunnel. I rushed forward to see what made it when I saw an infected lizard getting mauled to death by a sludge of flesh. Then an infected bat just swooped down and picked up the sludge and flew off. I just kept walking like nothing happened to see if there was more farther down the tunnel. There were a few more squabbles of sludges and infected lizards, I did see a few more bats but I couldn''t tell if they were infected or not. I kept going farther to see if I could find the Queens, but as I kept walking and no sign of either of them I realized it was futile. I walked back to the back of the cave with no trouble considering the carnage happening, even if there weren''t many things fighting. I decided to try to call the Queens back by just calling out their names, and considering the echo that reverberated through the cave I think they heard no matter how far down they were. The Parasite Queen was first, running through the tunnels, on the ceiling, her head was twisted in a 180-degree angle to look at me. She then hopped down as if it was the most natural thing while keeping eye contact with me the whole time. I don''t know why it won''t stop having eye contact but it was creepy as hell. She seemed to have grown a little muscle mass around its torso area and its spindly limbs. Now it only looks like she was starving for a few months instead of years. I decided to look at her name and it surprised me with what I saw. Parasite Queen: F 2 I was overjoyed with what I saw but it ended quickly when the Flesh Queen walked in and I saw its rank. Flesh Queen: F 1 As the Queen got closer the thing by its side was the flesh lizard, for some reason. Guess making it was a one-time thing or something. The Parasite Queen started to hiss and run backwards and up the wall, all the while staring at the Flesh Queen with her black eyes. The Flesh Queen just stood there with an almost grin on its face considering it didn''t have a mouth it contorted its flesh. "Ok so I''m just curious but could you guys bring your creations here so I can see your guy''s progress?" I said, "Also please don''t have them fight while they''re here." At first, they both stared at me like I was insane for even asking, but after the awkward silence, the Parasite Queen let out a shrill shriek that sent chills down my spine. While the Flesh Queen just stood there like a general. After a few seconds, the first creature showed up, it was an infected lizard followed shortly by a pair of flesh sludges and an infected bat. In just a few minutes all of my Queens monsters were at the back of the cavern, which considering it had only been a few hours was impressive.Help support creative writers by finding and reading their stories on the original site. The Flesh Queen had a good three dozen flesh sludges, of varying sizes from the smallest being barely as big as a kitten and the biggest around the size of a pitbull. They also had some variety to them surprisingly enough. The bigger ones had some sort of weapons to them, some had sharp bone protrusions sticking out of them while others grew short weapons that also acted as limbs. Some had short swords or a sort of primitive mace at the end of them. There was also a two-headed bat with four wings and bone protrusions. In total, the Flesh Queen had 37 monsters. For the Parasite Queen, she had around four dozen creatures in total, but most of them were just lizards. The lizards also had some size differences between them, the bigger ones did seem stronger but I wasn''t sure yet. They all looked similar except for their size, no protruding growths or limbs, but the bigger ones do have foaming mouths, and their claws looked bigger, but that''s about it. The dozen or so bats all looked the same, all similar in size and nothing changed physically except for maybe sharper claws but I couldn''t tell. Maybe they had internal changes like better hearing. In total, there were 45 that the Parasite Queen had under her control. Just as I was about to send them off to continue with life the Parasite Queen started to hiss with a tone that sounded like glee. I turned around and heard a flapping noise, thinking it was another bat I dismissed it and turned around walking away. Then something landed on my back and I froze. I shook myself to rid the creature of my back when I heard a squawk. I turned around and saw a bird with milky eyes and realized that the Parasite Queen got a bird. Wait that would mean there was a close entrance to the cave I was in, unless a parasite traveled far to try and find something. I''ll just hope it was the ladder. Either way, this was a great accomplishment! My Queens were growing so fast and it wasn''t even a day yet. Watching them gather their creations filled me with an odd sense of pride. It was strange like I was a parent seeing their children excel. But these weren''t just children. They were monsters. My monsters. That realization should have unsettled me, yet it didn''t. Instead, it made me wonder, what else could they do? I suddenly had an idea, I dismissed it at first but I decided it would be fun. I felt bad for calling the Queens back right after I dismissed them but I felt that it wouldn''t bother them too much. When they both came back I asked for them to bring their strongest creation here, which they both did almost curiously. The Parasite Queen''s strongest was the biggest lizard it was about two feet long with yellow-tinted foam bubbling out of its mouth and long black claws. The Flesh Queen''s strongest was the flesh lizard, which was a surprise but, I honestly expected it. When they both got settled down from the curiosity, and the annoyance from the flesh lizard went away, I was shocked it could even have that emotion. I told them to fight each other, the Queens both paused literally, they both stopped moving well at least the Parasite Queen did the Flesh Queen was barely moving beforehand but now it was rigid. The first one to react was the Parasite Queen, she let out a shrill screech which I guessed was a command to attack. The infected lizard didn''t waste a second ramming into the flesh lizard and trying to tear into its neck with its foaming jaws. The flesh lizard while shocked at the sudden attack immediately started to bite into the infected lizard''s torso. They kept clawing and biting each other for so long that I was about to call the fight off when the flesh lizard started to freeze up. It was about to bite the leg of the infected lizard but it just froze and the infected lizard didn''t hesitate and ripped off the flesh lizard''s head. The Parasite Queen let out a gleeful shriek and started to taunt the Flesh Queen with cooing sounds and a pitiful look that looked surprisingly real with its child''s face. The Flesh Queen just stared at the decapitated body of the flesh lizard and deflated, then walked away. It looked so sad but so was life. The infected lizard looked like it was about to explode by the way it was shaking, I was a little worried it might actually do that when a bright white flash entered my vision. When my vision returned the infected lizard looked bigger, stronger, and had a lot more yellow foam coming out of its mouth. "What is that?" I asked the air, now expecting the words to pop up. Infected FrothFang: F 2 It ranked up! This must be the first thing that ranked up except for me and the Parasite Queen. I felt overjoyed and congratulated the Queen and sent her off, letting her go off and do her business. As I walked back to the very end of the cave I thought of how great the day was. Chapter 5 I sat up abruptly, my heart pounding as the distant, piercing shriek of one of my Parasite Queens echoed through the cavern. The sound ripped through the stillness, carrying not only fear but the unmistakable finality of death. One of my queens¡ªgone. The oppressive weight of the loss pressed on me. Something had entered my domain, and it was deadly enough to kill a queen. Pushing aside my fatigue, I reached out mentally to the hive. The connection was instinctive, not words or emotions, just an awareness of their presence. The threads where the fallen queen had once been were now silent. The hive¡¯s tunnels erupted into chaos as the queens unleashed their broods in a frenzy. The original Parasite Queen sent her lizards scrambling forward in an uncoordinated tide, their claws scraping against the stone as they surged toward the intruder. Dozens of infected frothfangs charged after them, snarling and snapping at anything in their way. Bats swarmed above in a chaotic flurry, their shrill cries blending into the cacophony of the advancing horde. The other Parasite Queens joined the rampage, their broods flooding the tunnels with reckless abandon. More lizards darted through the chaos, colliding with frothfangs and tripping over each other in their haste. Bats careened wildly, some slamming into the walls as they scrambled to obey their queens¡¯ commands. The hive was a storm of movement and noise, the queens¡¯ collective rage driving their forces into a bloodthirsty frenzy. The Flesh Queens were no less chaotic. The original Flesh Queen sent her blobs rolling and slithering forward in an undulating wave, their grotesque forms merging and separating as they barreled through the tunnels. The larger blobs crashed into the walls and floor, their weaponized appendages lashing out indiscriminately. The two-headed flesh bat screeched as it launched itself into the fray, its four wings beating erratically as it sought a target. The other Flesh Queens unleashed their broods with equal ferocity. Blobs of all sizes surged forward, colliding with the Parasite Queens¡¯ forces in their haste to reach the intruder. The tunnels became a battlefield before the enemy was even in sight, the queens¡¯ creations thrashing and fighting amongst themselves as they jostled for position. The intruder emerged from the shadows, its sinewy body low to the ground, its movements fluid and predatory. Its mottled skin shimmered with patches of thick scales and slick flesh, giving it a grotesque, patchwork appearance. It paused, sniffing the air, its glowing eyes narrowing as the cacophony of the queens¡¯ forces drew closer. The Parasite Queens¡¯ lizards reached the creature first, their jaws snapping and claws scrabbling as they swarmed it. The intruder reacted with a feral snarl, its claws flashing as it tore through the first wave of attackers. Lizard bodies flew in all directions, but the swarm was relentless, more piling onto the creature in a frenzy of bites and scratches.Enjoying the story? The creature lashed out, snapping at the bats and flinging them aside, but the aerial assault only intensified. Frothfangs barreled into the fray, their bulky bodies slamming into the intruder with bone-crushing force. The creature roared in frustration, its movements growing more erratic as it fought to fend off the relentless onslaught. The Flesh Queens¡¯ blobs arrived moments later, their chaotic advance adding to the carnage. Smaller blobs latched onto the creature¡¯s limbs, their gelatinous bodies clinging tightly as they were shredded by its claws. Larger blobs slammed into it with wet, heavy thuds, their weaponized appendages flailing wildly. The two-headed flesh bat swooped down, its screeches piercing the air as it tore into the creature¡¯s back with its twin mouths. The tunnel devolved into utter chaos. The queens¡¯ broods attacked in a disorganized frenzy, their sheer numbers overwhelming the intruder. Parasite-infected lizards and frothfangs clashed with blobs and bats in their eagerness to reach the enemy. The queens themselves hissed and shrieked, their mental commands barely cutting through the bedlam. The intruder fought like a cornered beast, its claws and teeth carving through the queens¡¯ forces with brutal efficiency. It spun and lunged, scattering bodies and ichor with every movement. Yet, for every creature it killed, two more took its place, their attacks driven by the unrelenting rage of their queens. The battle dragged on, the tunnel floor slick with blood and ichor. The intruder¡¯s movements grew sluggish, its roars weakening as it succumbed to the relentless assault. A particularly large blob slammed into it, pinning it to the ground as the two-headed flesh bat descended for the final blow. Its claws sank deep into the creature¡¯s exposed neck, tearing through flesh and bone. The intruder let out a final, shuddering gasp before falling still. The queens gathered around the fallen creature, their broods chittering and hissing in victory. The tunnel was littered with the remains of the battle¡ªbroken blobs, torn lizards, and the scattered ichor of the intruder. The queens converged on the corpse, their movements driven by instinct. The Parasite Queens¡¯ forces descended first, ripping into the carcass with snapping jaws and shredding claws. Lizard and frothfang alike tore off chunks of flesh, their frenzied feeding reducing the creature to little more than scattered remains. Bats screeched and dove, carrying smaller pieces of the intruder back into the darkness to consume. The Flesh Queens approached with a different intent. While their broods feasted on the softest tissue, the queens themselves began harvesting the choicest pieces. Flesh blobs rolled forward, their gelatinous forms absorbing and merging with strips of meat and sinew. The Flesh Queens manipulated the collected scraps, shaping them into new, pulsating blobs. The tunnel floor became a feeding ground and a workshop of grotesque creation. The remains of the intruder disappeared piece by piece, consumed or sculpted into new forms by the queens and their broods. The hive swarmed with activity, the victory fueling their instinctive drive to grow and prepare for the next challenge. I lingered in the shadows, watching the scene unfold. I didn¡¯t need to intervene; the hive worked as one, driven by purpose and instinct. My queens and their broods had proven their strength, and the intruder¡¯s defeat sent a clear message: this was our domain, and it would not be trespassed upon without consequence. Yet even as the hive devoured and reshaped the remains, my thoughts lingered on the unanswered question¡ªwhere had this creature come from, and was it truly alone?
