《The Abominable Black》
Darkest of Black
''The darkest of the dark, blacker than black. No matter how abominable it may be, I simply do not care'' Cody Black
Magiterra, that''s the name of this world.
Monsters roam free, it''s natives (Terrans) are born mages.
Magic flows in excessive abundance throughout nature. The Terrans possess a tyrannical amount of Od.
They learnt to harness these two mystical energies and have greatly improved their quality of living. Magic is solid in all sectors, from fighting monsters to building to culinary and even to bathing. Schools have been set up specifically to educate Terrans on magic.
The first magic users originated from a region now known as the country of Vorfahr.
Magiterra is divided into seven main countries : Vorfahr, Vivian Federation, Baskingham, Serenita, Cryfderia, Ching Republic and Irina.
Mana flows in nature, Od in Terrans. The mana is harnessed through wands which are ranked from rank 1 through to 40 and the Od through Grimoires which are ranked from rank 1 through to 20.
Monsters who have absorbed magic, gotten it into their bloodstream and those metamorphosed are called Mystics ranked from level 1 through to 50.
All Terrans are born with a magic base alternatively called a Constitution which determines the strength and number of shirts they can cast simultaneously, the amount of magic they can absorb and the amount of Od they can project. Constitutions start from triangles and the highest known constitution ever attained was a hectagon
All tools mages use are called _Auxiliaries_ they are all sentient and must be named to bolster their strength. From weapons to Grimoires, wands and even hats
All magic is allowed except practices that fall under dark magic which include Necromancy, summoning, hexing, and the like. All individuals caught practicing in secret will be excited exiled the only asked practitioners are the ones whose family discovered them and even they have practice guidelines.
Alas, the greatest mage to tread upon the surface of Magiterra by the name Frederick Von Zachary was also the darkest of mages. He practiced only dark arts, he is responsible for creating more than fifty percent of dark magical arts. He sought power greater than the human body could attain. It was he who discovered the perfect reincarnation technique. Did he die? He didn''t get a death, Von Zachary, but in the last moments Magiterra beheld him, he walked through the gates ofIllheim ( The realm of evil) as the complement of his final project The Requiem that wasn''t. That was how far he fell into the darkness.
Perhaps the only good thing he could be remembered for was his role in defeatingEnigma of the Shadowsafter which he immediately proceeded to do into Illheim.
His family are the most eligible practitioners of dark magic as the only legacy he left for them.
It was not only defeating the Enigma, Von Zachary beforegoing roguewas a great weaponeer. He created the12 swords of Terra.
Some of his many creations are spread across Terra, some waiting to be discovered and others to be summoned.
Because of his actions, Zachary, Vorfahr is referred to as the capital of magic.
However the greatest magic school - Eldritch magic academy was founded by Al Von Eldritch, a close friend of his.

Von Zachary''s exit was dubbed The Illheim incident and took place immediately after The Enigma incident. His dark experiments all recorded are calledThe Dark Diaries which there are 12 of safely kept in the Von Zachary mansion.
He was called Frederick the Dark
A hundred and twenty four years after The Illheim incident
Black Mansion, Iseldragon residence, Cryfderia
A young man aged exactly 21 sat in a brown chair on a black table on which messy books and some alchemy equipment lay just beside his Blue Telelink B44( the latest model). It was the library, a small room on the third floor in the mansion owned by this mage he was ruffling through the pages of a particular one named _Myths of Terra_ ''Finally finally'' he said while ruffling his silky black hair ''The pattern of Illheim''s gate. To think it would be in a school textbook, I wonder what kind of curriculum these guys have. Even the cult of Frederick did not have such an exact description'' after that statement he paused briefly and pondered ''Or maybe they didn''t want to share with strangers?'' he added while tearing out the page and drawing what was none other than a decagram in the air with his fingers and slamming the said decagram on the torn page. ''Hope you saw it donovan'' he said to his hat, there was no answer ''You stubborn...'' he started.
''Shut up you fool'' a young lady aged 18 walked into the room holding a tray with two glasses of wine. She was wearing a white flowing top and black combat shorts. She had cream hair and a rosy complexion with grey eyes. Her hair was made into a braid which fell on her left shoulder. ''That''s not a school textbook'' she continued ''It is the oldest book in all of Magiterra''
''Whatever'' the young man said as he took the wine ''Gwen, the only reason you''re still alive after that statement is because you''re my younger sister, stop taking undue advantage'' he said as he sipped the wine.
''Screw you'', she said taking her cup
Just then the B44 rang
They exchanged glances
''Pick it'' said Gwen
He tapped on the notification and checked the telelink number, it wasn''t saved
''Hello?'' said the man
''Hey, is that Iseldragon'' came the voice
''Rick!! It''s you'' he said
''Listen, wherever you are get out of there now, they''re coming for you!''
''Already?''
''Get out of there, they want you dead!''
''Alright, alright''
He dropped the telelink albeit calmly
''What''d he say?''
''They want me dead''
''Even I want you dead'' she retorted
''Language please!''
''You had better get out of here''
He stood up slowly, somewhat unfazed her headed for his cupboard and picked out a black overcoat and boots as he tied a black scarf round his neck and placed his dagger shaped earring on his left ear.
''Gwen, when I leave, go stay with Rick, I''m not coming back for a long time'' said the man
''Whatever I''m escorting you to the gate''
''How sweet and you act like you don''t care''
She ignored him
''Sullivan, Donovan, Lucky, Poe''
''Yes master'' they replied him.
''We have some business, it''s high time I edit The Requiem That Never Was''
He hurried down the stairs and pushed open the gates of his mansion. Meanwhile Gwen just hopped down from the window
''Show off'' he said
''You''re just wasting time'' she scolded
''Whatever, whatever Grace comes first, Its called Steez maintenance''
''I''m not denying your Steez but only if you''re since can you care for such frivolities''
''Style comes first my fair lady, style''
''Why am I still talking to you?'' she sighed ''I''m going to the train station, it''s your life that''s in danger''.
''Hold up , come on'' he said running behind her
''Volare'' he said taking flight ''Accelerare'' and with that he vanished into thin air
''That brat'' she said repeating the same spell thus vanishing into thin air at high speed ''I''ll get him''
Cryfderian train station
The man landed with a big bang ''Ay ay ay ay ay, steeeez'' he said removing his hat and courteously boring to no one in particular.
Then looking up he saw wanted posters on the walls
''Holy shit, that''s me. Wait I''m wanted?''
Then he remembered Rick''s message
''This is bad''
Then someone walked out from the front of the station
''Silky black hair, purple eyes, black scarf, black top hat, black overcoat, dagger earring on the least ear everybody knows that description, it''s Cody Black'' the man shook his head ''Jeez couldn''t you keep a lower profile , I mean bro you''re wanted''
''I didn''t know things had escalated this fast''
''Just hand me the book''
''No p'' he said bringing out the book from his top hat and tossing it. The man caught it.
''You''re being too cooperative''
''Omg'' Cody sighed
They said something about a page
Page 343
Exactly
I''m with that
The man paused, shocked
Do you think you should have told me that
Yeah...you can''t do anything
Why you little....hand it over
Ah, pretty muffin..
It''s Weiss Von Zachary
Whatever, I would have really loved to throw down but I''m in quite a hurry
Cody entered deeper into the station
Your corpse ain''t leaving here
Cody paused
''Yeah, I know. My body is'' he said maliciously
''You wanna go?''
''Heck no I ain''t fighting ya, she will''
''Eirlithriad page 44, falling ice''
As Weiss turned he was met with a great ice projectile
''Gwen'' said Weiss
''Scram Cody, I''ll be fine''
''Knock yourself out''
''He should have at least pretended he cared'' she rolled her eyes
Cody snapped his fingers
''What?''
''Nothing''
Then he dashed off
''I am your opponent'' she told Weiss
''Hmph, the moment he enters that train, his death is certain, he....''
''Eirlithriad page 50''
''Hey, I was talking!''
How to get a hideout
''Ay ay ay ay ay'' Cody sighed as he walked down the station calmly. Somewhat maintaining his ''''steez". He was really obsessed with that stuff. The Cryfderian train station was quite the one, packed with aristocratic and high level trains of the Pendragon family, the ruling class. It had a hundred tracks, fifty platforms and an exotic ticket station.
The building was similar to a residential house with a modern architectural design using the height of Terran Tech which was labeled ''MAGITECH'' to aid in it''s design.
It comprised of clean lines, a flat roof, and a mix of materials, including wood panels, concrete, and glass all magically enhanced.
The ground floor includes a drifterport with space for one vehicle, while the upper floor has a balcony with iron railings. Large glass windows are prominently displayed, allowing natural light to pierce through the interior.
The station is surrounded by greenery and has a mountain backdrop, adding to its aesthetic appeal with the Cryfderian flag proudly hoisted atop the roof.
It was this same national and tourist attraction that he boldly entered before quickly retreating
''Woah I''m wanted''
To Black, the only stain on this magnificent building were those wanted posters of his.
''I have to disguise, time to be creative''
It was around 4 am by this time
''Oy Sulliva'' '' he called out to his wand the way he always did, in a very weird accent his wave seemed to love. ''Morphing spell, Change!'' he said pointing the wave at himself ''Sorry Steez, my life first''.
The man that walked into the building was about eightt years of age with a hunched back, torn clothes and dirty grey hair. He walked to the counter. The attendant was somewhat unfazed but Cody was looking at the lady.
''A tick...ticket for Vorfahr''
''That will cost you fifteen thousand Cryfs''
He brought out his wallet and the sum equally, he really made sure to turn the knob on for the body odour. The passengers behind were wrinkling their noses.
''Hey oldie, scram quickly we''re in a hurry here!!'' they screamed. Cody was not bothered obviously the disguise was quite good he patted his own back.
''That''s your ticket'' she said collecting the sum which surprisingly had extra, he winked at her and let his purple eyes radiate their bewitching, womanizing aura, the aura that every Cryfderian knew. He quickly put his hand on his lips to tell her to be quiet while walking away sluggishly to strengthen his act.
The amount he gave her was over seventy five percent extra. It also contained a note.
She took an excuse from the manager and swapped out with another attendant. This tale has been pilfered from Royal Road. If found on Amazon, kindly file a report.
On the note was written ''Meet me at the back of the station in twenty minutes max, falter and you die''. She shrugged her shoulders in pure terror, Cody Black never made empty threats. ''But why is he saving me?'' she thought.
She was suddenly dragged into a VIP toilet. After letting her recover from her shock he said.
''Because I heavily respect ladies'' he said as if he had read her mind. She appeared shocked, horrified.
''Oh... I don''t read minds, I read people. It''s very damn obvious that''s what you were thinking''.
''What do you want from me?'' she cried.
''A night'' he said drawing closer to her
''What?!! I beg you don''t. Please.'' his hand stroking her hair
''You can''t even take a joke. I''m not that terrible.''
She sighed ''Shouldn''t you be escaping for your life now''
''Patience fair lady. My dearest apologies, before I proceed may I have your name''
''Ceri, Ceri Bach'' she gave the name a bit reluctantly.
''Age?''
''Twenty''
''The thing is Ceri, when I return from Illheim, Black mansion will probably be confiscated. I''ll need somewhere to stay. Can you pardon this young man to tarry with you''
''What do I stand to gain'' she had somehow gained confidence.
''Don''t worry, I will help you out''
''Explain''
''You have a younger one?''
''Carwyn, he''s sixteen''
''Ah! I''ll get him to Eldritch academy with preferential treatment and a scholarship''
Her eyes brightened
''Really?''
''It''s the least an unwanted guest can do'' he said turning his back to her
''I''m glad you know''. With that he turned to face her and walked closer to her. After reaching an appropriate distance, he scanned her from head to toe. Ceri was a buxom young blonde with shoulder length hair. She had fair skin and pink lips with hazel eyes. She was of average height. She was wearing the attendant uniform which consisted of a turned in white shirt which had the Cryfderian train station logo boldly printed on the left chest with a deep blue tie and a black skirt. She left two of her buttons open and let her tie rest on the third button. She had also adorned her ears with black rose earrings.
''Shit!'' his babe is hot'' he thought whilst still scanning her slowly. He paused ''She''s basically on Irene''s level'' he licked his lips at the thought of Irene. She got sensitive.
''What?'' She asked shyly revealing a blush
''Oh nothing'' he said while boldly dragging her tie up to the second button. Their eyes interlocked.
''Back off'' she suddenly protested whine adjusting her clothes ''You have a deal''
''Alright. Be expecting a visitor late at night someday. Don''t worry if anyone else knocks, it''ll be Rick. And tell your brother about me I don''t want any ruckus''
''Noted''
''Ceri?..''
''What??''
''Are you married?'' she blushed
''The train leaves in twenty minutes. You had better escape now.'' She said still blushing. She quickly walked out before things could get more awkward.
Cody smiled as he left the area knowing he had a shot. ''Even Rick doesn''t get it. I ain''t escaping, I''m leaving. I need a place to stay before this Illheim shit cools down. Dining, meh that ain''t my style''
He sluggishly resumed his disguise add her boarded the train. He took a seat by the window in order to facilitate a possible escape.
Skirmish on the train
Cody sat in the train now, the Trackburner P4 by name. It was a magnificent structure, with 50 coaches and 30 wagons, red in colour. It had a flame motif on its body and the Pendragon family crest on each coach. The windows were tinted red black adding to it''s appeal.
If anything he really hated having to travel in a Pendragon train but he had no other option, taking his drifter would be spelling his doom as he would be tracked before he could make half the distance, his sky cruiser works be shot down, even a level 55 mage had limits, there were mages of level 60 plus on his trail. The power gap between 1 level of mages was quite great and increased with increasing levels.
One of those big shot mages was Andreas Alexopoulos - that was Irene''s dad, King of Irina. Damn he and Irene had engaged in adult activities, he swore to him it was mutual but her dad just want ready to listen and increased the already massive bounty on Black''s head.He had offended millions and had a terrible crime record. If he was caught, he would be executed on the spot. His bounty and that of Zachary wasn''t quite far apart almost 3 billion Shin. Zachary was the most wanted mage of all time with a bounty of 15 billion Werts (Vorfahrian currency) .Why didn''t he just teleport himself? Well that wouldn''t be fun. He wanted the world to helplessly watch him exit Magiterra, just like his idol, Von Zachary.
The people who were tasked with seizing him were kings, guards, mages and The VENORY aka the VENATOR force. The force were like the army except by far more brutal. Their ranks comprised some level 60-65 mages, in other words, seriously hot stuff. Did Black fear them, heck no. That guy could teleport in milliseconds he was just well, wary of them. But that wasn''t the point, it''s better safe than sorry. They never acted alone but I''m squads and troops, that was not to say, however, that they were weak, rather they followed PROTOCOL, the one thing Black hated the most! There was a particular Enforcer (The third highest ranking official) after him, he had killed her brother on a venator chase, it was a female Enf. Stella Bosco she was a 8 star venator, even in the force 7.5 stars and above were considered the Top dog mages.
The train took off at high speed, while Cody brought out a small alchemy book and started reading
''Tickets please!'' the young man in a train uniform went
When it was his turn, Cody lazily stretched out his hand to give the ticket, strengthening his disguise. The man carefully observed Cody from head to toe and Cody recognized him. It was Charles D. Rochefort!
''Shit!'' Cody thought ''What on earth is the 3rd Chief Enforcer of the venory doing here, on this train and disguised as a ticket collector?'' nevertheless he maintained his composure as the ticket collector returned his ticket to him punched and moving away.
''My location has been compromised'' Cody thought ''It must be the work of the Ching divinators''.
Then he looked out the window only to discover venator drifters following the train at a safe distance, the P4 was surrounded at all sides.
''It''s coming'' he said closing the book. Charles, as if sensing something immediately, speedily walked out of the coach and simultaneously Black rose or was about to till...the train stopped.
''Why did it stop, trains never stopped in Cryfderia!'' he thought ''Unless....,shit. A raid''The narrative has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
''Everyone sit your assess down!!'' a young male venator with grey hair said while smashing one of the train doors down. He was tall and had freckles. He had 7 stars on his uniform (a semi-enforcer). Soon after five more venators, three male, two female bashed in, all with 8 stars. Cody went pale, he recognized all of them, they were the 5 enforcers.
''The fuck, they brought in the alpha squad?! And where is that Charles?''
Before he could say ''Jack Robinson'', a paper charm was thrown into the air by a female executioner. It revealed a beautiful pink enneagram that soon engulfed the entire train before focusing on one particular old man. Black recognized it ''The truth-seeking charm'' he murmured grudgingly.
''Who would have known the one and only Cody Black would be on this train'' the 7 star venator, Bryn Pendragon by name taunted ''MY family train!! You filth!''
''Take it easy B'' Cody said releasing the disguise and beginning to get up
''Sit your ass down, you are not escaping today!'' a female executioner cautioned.
Cody, being Cody continued to rise until he stood erect, adjusting his cap
''Ay ay ay ay ay'' he sighed ''Do we fight here?''
They all brought out their wands at once, while Cody calmly, patiently raised his right arm then snapped his fingers.
''Raddopiare'' (lit. Double)
Snap!
With that, the train doubled and the normal passengers were separated into one train, the original whine be and the venators stuff in the fake one.
''Illusion magic ey?'' Bryn asked ''Your cheap signature magic.''
Cody did not respond and at once, the fight commenced with Bryn taking the lead
''Flam, maximus!'' he yelled, his wand throwing out a huge, majestic golden fireball out at Cody. The ball went at quick speed but Cody stretched out his right arm, and upon impact, the flame, turned air!
''What?!'' Bryn screamed, but Cody rolled his eyes ''Dude, I''m Cody Black, I''m a freaking alchemist, I mean didn''t you read my file? Looks like venator standards are dropping nowadays''
''Hey sport, don''t get too cocky'' one of the male enforcers said, he had green hair and a muscular body, very tall, taller than Bryn.
''Ay! The tanker ey? 8 star Alexander..''
''I don''t need my own introduction dude, take a break''
''What disrespect, ay ay ay ay ay, this simply will not do''
With that Cody clasped his hands and opened them, unleashing a pack of cards, he picked four and thrust them in the air as he shouted ''Aegis!'', a magical red forcefield formed around him, while Alexander lifted his wand and drew a circle in the air, ''Wicked vine!''. Purple vines rushed towards Cody and smashed the forcefield, Cody jumped back a few steps, repositioning himself and flipped in mid air, just then the vibes lunged forwards and stabbed him, passing through his heart. A suspended Cody lay upside down bleeding
''What the hell, are you this weak'' Alexander shook his head ''What was the Cody Black good all about then?''.
The figure suspended on the vine faded away, he was never there!
''Illusion magic is up for as long as I want after that snap you fools'' Cody reappeared behind them. They continued hurling sirens at one another, and Black kept reappearing and disappearing from the scene. The other venators kept out, they always encouraged one on one fights although it looked like that fight would go in forever.
And so they kept exchanging blows, Bryn joined the brawl but Cody just kept on repeating his previous actions, it became torturous. They were mentally exhausted
''Stop fighting!'' Charles called out after about thirty minutes, ''He''s long gone he''s currently drifting off on a leverboard, let''s get him''
The enforcers all seemed puzzled as Cody''s image that stood before them instantly vanished.
''What!'' They all screamed. Then forced to look at Charles with a questioning expression.
''I immediately recognized him on the train, that''s why I went out of the range of his illusion magic. He was never a part of this fight, you''ve all been in an illusion all this time. He had shared beforehand. I must say, he is quite powerful. There is absolutely no time to waste, we must hurry!''
Cody''s leverboard whistled through the air as he chuckled at the thought of making fools out of both Weiss and the alpha squad. Gwen would already be on her way now. He had to make it to Zachary, Vorfahr. He just had to.
