《Eternal Heir》 Royal Academy of Divine Arts Chapter 1: Royal Academy of Divine Arts ?The road leading to the Royal Academy of the Divine Arts was an enchanting scene, framed by ancient trees that formed a canopy over the cobbled path, their autumn leaves casting a golden glow in the early morning light. Carriage after carriage approached, each a display of wealth and artistry, announcing the arrival of noble heirs and promising students from across the human empire. The first carriage to arrive was a magnificent midnight blue, its polished wood inlaid with delicate silver stars that shimmered in the dappled sunlight. Four snow-white horses, their bridles adorned with silver bells, trotted proudly as the carriage came to a halt, drawing admiring glances from the gathered crowd. Moments later, another carriage rolled forward, this one a deep, glossy black adorned with intricate silver engravings in the shape of swirling blades, a clear mark of martial prowess. A guard stepped out first, surveying the scene with a keen, watchful gaze. Amidst this procession of splendor and wealth, a single carriage arrived with understated elegance. It was crafted from polished dark wood with only the subtlest touch of silver along its frame, and etched on its door was a small symbol¡ªa raven in mid-flight, wings spread against a field of clouds. Though unadorned, the crest held quiet authority, and those who recognized it felt a ripple of tension. The carriage came to a gentle halt at the base of the Academy''s grand staircase, and an expectant hush fell over the crowd. From within, a young man emerged with a calm, composed step. He was tall, his frame lean yet marked by a quiet strength, his movements deliberate and poised. His hair, a striking shade of silver-gray, caught the morning light as he surveyed the crowd with cool, unflinching gray eyes that seemed to see and yet dismiss the gathered students with a single, detached glance. A murmur rose among the onlookers. "Is that him?" a voice whispered, hushed but awestruck. "Yes¡ the Emperor''s third son," someone replied quietly, shifting their gaze downward as his attention drifted over them. The young man''s gaze lingered on the towering entrance of the Academy, his expression remote and unreadable. He seemed less like a prince stepping into a new world than a figure of another era, standing apart, surrounded by a quiet that set him distinctly apart from the eager young nobles around him. In the soft autumn light, he stood still for a moment longer, letting the moment settle before moving forward. As the young man stepped away from the carriage, a butler dressed in a finely tailored dark uniform approached, bowing with impeccable grace. The butler, an older man with a stern but kindly expression and silver hair neatly combed back, inclined his head respectfully. "Young Lord Kriesten," he intoned, his voice warm yet formal. "On behalf of your household, I wish you a successful and enlightening stay here at the Academy. May this new chapter bring you strength and wisdom." The butler raised his head, a faint, almost fatherly pride flickering in his eyes. "Know that your family places great hopes on you, my lord. If ever you have a need, simply send a word." He gave another slight bow, stepping back as Ren nodded in acknowledgment, his expression calm but distant. The butler held his place until Ren turned toward the entrance, where the Academy gates loomed. The butler straightened, folding his hands neatly in front of him as he continued, his tone reassuring and efficient. "Young Lord Ren, all of your accommodations and personal items have been seen to by the Academy staff, as per tradition for esteemed students. Your quarters have been prepared in accordance with your family''s wishes, and any personal effects you may need will be delivered directly to you upon request."Stolen novel; please report. He paused, giving a slight nod of approval as if ensuring Ren''s comfort personally. "As for now," he added, "the opening ceremony is set to begin shortly in the Grand Hall. I would advise proceeding directly, as many of your peers will be in attendance. I trust the event will provide a valuable introduction to both the Academy and its¡ expectations." He gave another bow, one final, respectful gesture. "May the Academy serve you well, Lord Ren." With that, he stepped back, allowing Ren to move forward toward the towering entrance where students and dignitaries were gathering in anticipation of the Academy''s formal welcome. "Thank you." The young man finally replied as he turned towards his butler. "I will not disappoint." Ren stepped past the towering entrance and into the grand halls of the Academy, his footsteps echoing faintly against the polished stone floors. The architecture was nothing short of breathtaking¡ªvaulted ceilings soared overhead, adorned with intricate carvings depicting the legendary feats of past heroes and scholars. Every pillar was crafted from gleaming marble, each engraved with symbols representing the world''s three foundational energies: Mana, Aura, and Spirit Essence. Gold and silver inlays traced patterns along the walls, giving the space an otherworldly glow as they reflected the light streaming in through grand, stained-glass windows. He passed beneath archways etched with ancient language, each one marking the way to vast wings and corridors that stretched deeper into the Academy''s sprawling grounds. Portraits of past graduates, noble and otherwise, lined the walls, their painted eyes watching as new generations entered to forge their own paths. And at one of these portraits, Ren couldn''t help but pause a little. ''Mother. So this was how you looked like when you were younger.'' Ren couldn''t help but think as he saw the portrait of his mother during her ''glory'' days as she put it... Ren made his way toward the Grand Hall where the opening ceremony was to be held. Finally, he stepped into a massive auditorium that opened before him like a grand amphitheater. Rows upon rows of seats ascended in sweeping curves, forming a vast circle that allowed everyone a clear view of the raised dais at the center. A domed ceiling arched high above, an impressive mosaic of celestial patterns painted in vivid blues and silvers, with chandeliers hanging like stars, illuminating the hall in a gentle, almost ethereal light. Hundreds of students and dignitaries filled the space, each donning attire that displayed their family crests and colors with pride. Ren''s gaze swept over the assembly, immediately recognizing dozens of noble faces¡ªsome from distant interactions at formal gatherings, others whose names were spoken in whispers of legend and rivalry. Each face represented a family, a faction, an ally or enemies. He could sense the underlying tension in the room, each noble eyeing the other, weighing alliances and threats, already maneuvering for the power games to come. ''I certainly did not miss¡'' Ren couldn''t help but think. For the past 2 months he was exempted by his family from attending Gatherings held by nobility. While the official reason was that he had to prepare for the Academy, everyone knew why Ren was pushed to the sidelines. ''I have to keep an open mind.'' Ren reminded himself. After all, his mother said that this place was the one place she loved with all her heart. The room fell quiet as more students filed in, each one taking their place, the anticipation building as they awaited the beginning of the ceremony that would mark the start of their lives here at the Academy. As the last of the students settled into their seats, the atmosphere in the Grand Hall shifted. A ripple of anticipation swept through the crowd, eyes turning toward the dais as the five top students of the fifth year emerged from behind a curtain at the back of the stage. Each step they took commanded attention, though their expressions remained impassive, betraying no emotion whatsoever. Dressed in elegant robes adorned with the symbols of their prestigious families, the five moved with an air of practiced indifference. They were the elite of the Academy, recognized for their exceptional talents, yet as they made their way onto the stage, they seemed burdened by the moment, their gazes focused straight ahead as if the gathering of new students was little more than a necessary formality. The murmur of conversation among the nobles filled the hall, their chatter rising in volume as they discussed the merits and achievements of these elite students. But as if on cue, the noise gradually faded, the murmurs quieting into a collective hush as the vice-headmistress strode into the room. She was a striking figure¡ªa middle-aged woman whose presence resonated with authority and grace. Her silver hair was tied into a messy bun, a few strands artfully escaping to frame her face, lending her an air of effortless beauty. The glasses perched on her nose accentuated her sharp, penetrating gaze, which swept over the gathered students and nobles with a mix of scrutiny and warmth. The moment she entered, a palpable silence fell across the auditorium, as though the very air had been drawn tight. She stood there for a heartbeat, allowing the quiet to settle fully, her expression calm yet commanding. ''She also is the same.'' Ren thought in slight anger. ''How is she moving on with her life, as if nothing had happened at all?!'' "Welcome," she began, her voice resonating through the vast space, imbued with a melodic strength that held everyone''s attention. "Welcome to the Royal Academy of the Divine Arts. Today marks the beginning of your journey into the world of power and potential, where you will learn not only to harness your abilities but to understand the responsibilities that come with them." Chapter 2: Opening Address Chapter 2: Opening Address As her words lingered in the air, the top five students remained expressionless, their eyes fixed ahead, as if they found the whole occasion beneath their notice. The anticipation in the hall surged once more, a current of eagerness as the gathered students awaited the path that would define their futures, while the vice-headmaster began to elaborate on the challenges and opportunities that lay before them. The vice-headmaster''s voice resonated with clarity and purpose as she continued, capturing the attention of every student in the auditorium. "In this academy, we will be teaching each of you to harness your codex to your maximum potential. You will learn to assimilate into the real world, preparing yourselves to take leading roles in humanity." Her gaze swept across the assembly, meeting the eyes of students and nobles alike, emphasizing the gravity of her words. "This is not merely an education; it is your training ground for the future. You will face challenges that will test not only your skills but your character. Each of you carries the weight of your lineage and the expectations that come with it. It is your duty to rise to those expectations and guide your people." "Throughout your time here, you will encounter trials designed to push you beyond your limits. Remember, true leadership is born not only from power but from the wisdom to wield it wisely. Your journey begins today, and I expect each of you to strive for greatness." With a piercing glance at the top students, the vice-headmaster stepped back slightly. The vice-headmaster''s expression softened just slightly as she continued, her tone firm yet measured. "I understand that most of you are royalty or nobility, and it is common to bring grudges from the outside into this place. However, I must emphasize that the Academy is a neutral ground. First-year students often tend to forget this truth, but I assure you: your lineage holds no value here." She paused, allowing her words to resonate within the hall, her gaze scanning the faces of both the fresh students and the seasoned nobles who had gathered. "This institution is a crucible for your development, where power and potential are the only currencies that matter. Personal vendettas and family feuds will not be tolerated. Instead, I expect you to cultivate respect and camaraderie among your peers, for it is only together that you can truly excel." "Understand that in this Academy, you will be judged by your abilities and character, not by your titles or the names that precede you. Those who carry grudges will find themselves isolated, while those who embrace collaboration will thrive." With that, she held their gaze a moment longer before continuing, "Let this be the foundation upon which you build your journey here. Embrace the challenges, support one another, and rise above the expectations set by your birth. This is your opportunity to forge your own destiny." The vice-headmaster''s voice remained steady, cutting through the tension in the air. "As you begin this journey, I must inform you that there are approximately nine hundred first-year students this time around. However," she continued, her gaze sharpening, "only fifty of you can truly graduate from the Academy. The rest will have to leave after the third year. She paused for a moment, allowing her words to sink in. Ren already knew from his education at home and from the stories his mother provided to him. If you discover this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation. Being a part of that 50 was no ordinary feat. Every year, around a thousand Nobles would be sent to the academy since it was decreed by the Human Council that this is compulsory. The academy is used as a place to not only train the Future leaders of mankind, but to also reduce infighting among these future leaders. However it was only compulsory for the first 3 years. Following this, only the top 50 Nobles of that year could continue to stay in the academy and then receive specialized education. And it was Ren''s goal to stay in that 50¡at all costs. "In fact, we do not believe in confining students," she added, her tone emphasizing the meritocratic nature of the institution. "If you demonstrate exemplary knowledge and ability, you may even skip years entirely. We value potential and will reward those who show it." As she said that Ren thought about the expectations his family name held. Basically everyone in his family had skipped a year and he was expected to do the same as well. From his understanding¡his eldest brother had even skipped 2 full years. The academy was closed off from the outside world so the students or the families outside wouldn''t know what was going on. Of course there were expectations of this rule. This is to ensure that the students don''t rely on their noble households. What his butler had told him before about being able to help him were just kind words. Over here he was expected to thrive alone. Ren did hear about his eldest brother returning to the family just as he was departing for his turn. With a slight gesture, the vice-headmistress continued, "Once you awaken your life codex, each of you will be split into groups of five. These groups will be assigned either a fifth-year or fourth-year mentor who will guide you through your first semester, helping you navigate the challenges that lie ahead." Most of the first years were excited at the prospect of being provided a proper mentor. After all, inside of the academy a mentor was a vital role. The bond between mentor and mentees usually lasted beyond the confines of the academy, so everyone including Ren hoped they got a decent mentor. His mother had told him that her mentor was someone who helped her a lot inside of this academy. "After the first semester, all students will be ranked into classes based on your abilities and performance, and you will have the opportunity to meet your professors," she concluded, her voice resonating with authority. "Remember, this is a chance to prove yourselves. The journey will not be easy, but those who are willing to put in the effort will find their place among the elite." The vice-headmaster took a step back from the center of the stage, her gaze sweeping over the assembly one last time. "Now, the fifth-year students here will lead each of you to an awakening chamber to begin the process of awakening your codex." As murmurs rippled through the crowd, she continued. "I would say ''see you soon,'' but given the nature of this institution, seeing me is not usually a good thing. Instead, I wish you all luck, first years. May your awakening be fruitful and your path clear." With that, she stepped back fully, leaving the stage and allowing the fifth-year students to take charge. The top students, previously standing in a line with stoic expressions, moved forward, their demeanor shifting as they prepared to guide the new arrivals. Magnus Eirenson, the current head of the student council, shifted his posture slightly, drawing the attention of his fifth-year classmates. Usually, this type of information would not be known to everyone¡however Magnus was special. Especially since he reached the Heroic Ranks while still being inside of the academy. All Heroic rank members were registered in the Human Domain and kept close tracks off, so when Magnus broke into these ranks it caused a storm outside the academy. Ren could only imagine the mess it caused here. Magnus looked at his peers with a tired expression as he gestured towards the first years. "Guys." Magnus said, his voice resonating through the hall, getting the attention of everyone inside of the hall. "Take care of this mess will you." As he said that, he walked out of the great hall, not caring for anyone''s expressions in this situation. As Magnus exited, a male student with striking purple hair stepped forward, immediately capturing the attention of the first years. His presence was magnetic, the air around him charged with an unspoken authority. "Listen up, first years!" he called out, his voice cutting through the chatter. "I''m Aiden, and I''ll be organizing your groups for the awakening process. You''ll be assigned to your respective chambers shortly, but first, let''s get a few things straight." However, amidst the crowd of eager first years, a few of Magnus''s most ardent fan girls exchanged whispers, their expressions a mix of disappointment and indignation. One of them, her voice slightly haughty, couldn''t resist speaking up. "Why did he leave? Doesn''t he care about us? He should be here, not just off doing whatever he wants!" ''What an idiot.'' Ren couldn''t help but think. This Academy was the sort where a good portion of it was run by the students. Afterall, humanity was not in the position to be able to let a lot of high ranking people leave the front lines and teach some fledglings. Sure, they were prospective nobles, but every strong person was needed to fight. He would know, his own Father was off the grid for the past few years of his life. All that was known was that he was alive. And his Father is one of the strongest people inside of the Human Domain. So Ren could tell that Magnus had a lot of responsibilities inside of the Academy and was running quite a lot of things at once. The fifth years, who had been listening with narrowed eyes, immediately scowled at the audacity of the comment. ... Authors Note: Hope you guys will enjoy this novel. If you wish to read more chapter, it will be on my p#treon p#treon.com/Fat_Cultivator Chapter 3: Awakening Chapter 3: Awakening Aiden, catching the shift in atmosphere, raised an eyebrow and addressed the girls directly. "Magnus has more important things to do than mess around with children," he replied, his tone firm and unkind. "You''re first years. You do as you have been told, that''s something that better get through your head quickly." "What did you say?" The girl seemed to not be able to believe that someone was speaking to her in this tone. A lot of the people around this girl couldn''t help but distance themselves from here. Was she an idiot? The Vice-Headmistress had literally just warned them about behaviors like this. Aiden seemed like he didn''t want to waste his breath on her and just turned to the entire year. He paused for a moment before adding, "And while we''re at it, I suggest you keep your tone in check while you''re inside the Academy. Offend the wrong person and you might really regret it." The girl seemed to want to continue but none of the students paid any attention to her. As Aiden organized the students into groups, the atmosphere in the Grand Hall shifted once again, excitement and anxiety mingling among the first years. The fifth-year students began calling out names, their voices echoing through the cavernous space, creating a rhythm of anticipation. "Group One, to the left!" Aiden announced, directing the first group toward the designated chamber. The students shuffled forward, a mix of nervous energy and eagerness in their steps. Slowly, names were being called out as everyone was taking their turns to walk into the Awakening Chambers. "Ren Kriesten." Aiden called Ren''s name out, and a hush quickly fell over the auditorium. Ren paused, allowing a faint smile to tug at the corners of his mouth as he leisurely began to descend the stairs. He took his time, unhurried, letting the moment linger as he strolled through the rows of seated first years. As he walked, whispers began to ripple through the crowd like a gentle breeze. "Isn''t that¡ the Fallen Princess''s son?" "Do not use that title in public! Do you wish for the entire Kriesten Empire to kill you?! Even if she has fallen we have to address her by her official title." As Ren heard the First Years talking, he began to sigh inwardly. People his age really should start writing fiction classes. There was no way even his family would execute some nobles for saying some names about people. Why would they even bother with strangers? "Don''t go near him, I heard he attacks anyone near him." Someone continued. Hey¡that was one time! Ever since the last Ball he had attended before entering the Academy¡his social reputation was bad to say the least. "He''s the brother of last year''s top graduate!" The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement. "Every time one of their mainline families comes through, they take the first spot in the rankings." Well that was indeed true¡basically every single person inside of his family main line is a force to be reckoned with. Even his Eldest Brother, the First Prince of the Kriesten Empire. Ren merely shrugged off their attention, his expression calm and composed. He focused instead on the polished stone beneath his feet and the intricate carvings lining the walls, taking in the beauty of the Academy. As he reached the front of the hall, he caught sight of Aiden, who met his gaze with a nod of acknowledgment. Ren returned the gesture, unfazed by the scrutiny of his peers. There was an undeniable confidence in his stride, as if he were moving to his own rhythm, indifferent to the murmurs surrounding him. "Ren Kriesten," Aiden called, a hint of formality in his tone. "You will be in Group One. Please proceed to the Awakening Chamber." Without glancing back towards the students, Ren just walked into the Awakening room. The moment Ren stepped into the Awakening Chamber, he found himself engulfed in an endless white expanse. There were no walls, no ceiling, and no discernible floor¡ªjust an unbroken, blinding white that seemed to stretch into infinity. As he took a few steps forward, he realized something strange: no matter how far he moved, he remained at the exact same spot, his position never shifting in relation to the glowing orb hovering in the center of the room. Curiosity piqued, Ren tried moving to his left, then his right, but the distance between him and the orb remained eerily constant. It was as if space itself had been suspended, leaving him caught in a dimension where movement and distance held no meaning. He paused, the concept of non-existence settling heavily on him. "So, this is the famed Awakening Chamber," he murmured to himself, eyes narrowing as he observed the orb. He could feel its pull, an invisible force subtly drawing him closer, though nothing in the room actually shifted. It seemed to be calling him in a way he couldn''t fully explain, like a heartbeat echoing through the void, growing louder with each silent second. Realizing there was little point in moving conventionally, Ren turned his attention entirely to the orb, steadying himself. As Ren placed his hand on the orb, a soft hum resonated throughout the endless white room, and a gentle, almost melodic voice echoed in his mind. "Welcome, Ren Kriesten," the voice greeted. "I am Gaia, the Awakening Chamber''s guide and information system of the Academy." Ren tilted his head, unsurprised. After all, basically everyone in the world knew of Gaia, the headmaster''s greatest creation. "Gaia, how does the Awakening work?" he asked, his tone level. Gaia''s voice remained calm, precise. "The Awakening is initiated by the infusion of mana directly from the Headmaster. His mana will be injected into you and used to awaken your Life Codex, the unique imprint that determines your abilities and potential." Ren absorbed this, his gaze lingering on the orb as Gaia continued. "The Headmaster, as you may know, is the strongest individual among humanity. His power alone keeps all empires, kingdoms, and factions at peace. For centuries, he has acted as a unifying force, preventing the human race from tearing itself apart with wars and rivalries. He founded this academy to teach future generations the value of alliances and to encourage unity rather than internal strife." Ren nodded slightly, since this was all common knowledge. He might not agree with every single one of the headmasters'' views but he did understand that infighting among humans was not needed. Especially with the threat of the other races. Here was a person whose strength was matched only by his purpose: to preserve humanity''s existence through mutual understanding, respect, and unity. Glancing around at the strange, unchanging room, Ren asked, "And what''s with this room? I''ve walked in every direction, yet I stay in the same place." "An astute observation," Gaia replied. "Time and space do not exist here. This effect is a product of the Headmaster''s magic, which warps reality within the Awakening Chamber. You will find that movement is irrelevant, and time flows only when it is needed." Ren''s eyes narrowed thoughtfully. The Headmaster''s power to alter the very fabric of time and space was not normal. Even among all the books he has read inside of the Imperial library, mages who can accomplish this could be counted in only the double digits. "So," he muttered under his breath, "not just the strongest, but a visionary." "Yes," Gaia affirmed, "and it is through his mana every Human noble''s potential will be realized." Ren took a steadying breath, pressing his hand firmly against the orb''s surface. The Academy itself was a neutral ground, a sanctuary where all grudges, rivalries, and ambitions were left outside its gates. Established by the headmaster, this place was meant for learning and growth¡ªa realm sacred and inviolable in its purpose. Here, neither the Academy''s staff nor its students could use power or influence to settle old scores or gain status. Ren trusted this. Even as he prepared to receive the headmaster''s own mana, he felt no fear of harm. He understood that the Academy''s neutrality was absolute, bound by an unbreakable promise from its founder, who regarded the pursuit of knowledge as a pursuit beyond personal vendettas or the politics of the outside world. With his hand on the orb, Ren felt a soft, warm energy begin to seep into him. It flowed steadily, like water trickling down a smooth channel, first reaching his fingertips and then spreading slowly up his arm. This was the headmaster''s mana¡ªan energy of incomprehensible strength, yet so gentle in its entry, as if being precisely measured to match his own limits. It was searching, winding through him like a quiet river, coaxing his potential to the surface layer by layer. As the mana coursed through his veins, Ren felt a calm he hadn''t expected, almost as if he were floating in a tranquil, boundless pool. Gradually, his vision began to blur, the stark whiteness of the room transforming, bending and morphing into shapes and patterns that danced before him. Faint symbols and spirals of light shimmered around him, pulsing in sync with his heartbeat, like a language only his soul could understand. He closed his eyes, letting the headmaster''s mana guide him, unraveling something deeply hidden within him. Each pulse felt like an invitation, as if beckoning him to explore this new layer of awareness. As Ren''s senses steadied, he opened his eyes, and his breath caught. ... If you wish to read more chapter, it will be on my p#treon p#treon.com/Fat_Cultivator Chapter 4: Life Codex Chapter 4: Life Codex He was no longer in the endless white room of the Awakening Chamber but surrounded by stars, suspended in the vastness of space. Nebulas swirled in hues of blue, purple, and silver, and countless stars glimmered like gems against a dark, cosmic sea. It was as though he stood on the very edge of the universe, caught between realms of existence and imagination. Beneath him was an ethereal chessboard, each checkered square flickering faintly with a soft, otherworldly light. The surface was solid yet somehow intangible, a subtle shift between reality and illusion. Ren stood in the very center, his figure dwarfed by the immense scale of this astral chessboard. He noticed that one side of the board¡ªthe side of the white pieces¡ªwas shrouded in shadow, entirely inaccessible to him. Every square there was veiled as if held behind an invisible barrier that separated him from its influence. Only his side of the board, the side of the black pieces, was visible, each piece stationed in precise formation, waiting, still and silent. Ren took it all in with a quiet intensity, the sheer strangeness of the scene settling over him. "This is¡ my Nexus?" he murmured, his voice echoing softly across the void. The Nexus, a metaphysical space within his Life Codex, wasn''t just a place of reflection¡ªit was the origin of his powers. Each power he unlocked was seeded in this plane, connected to his very essence. The chess pieces on his side seemed to flicker slightly at his words, their surfaces rippling with dark, glinting energy, almost as though they were alive. He felt a faint resonance within him, a tug at something fundamental, like the unlocking of a deep, ancient part of his very being. This chessboard wasn''t merely a symbolic plane; it was a reflection of himself, his potential, and his path forward. Ren took his time as he crossed the vast, ethereal chessboard under a field of stars, each piece drawing his attention in ways he could feel more than understand. Ren was able to tell that he would have to select one of these chess pieces¡and the choice would then affect how his Life Codex would be awakened. He sensed something in this choice was critical, something that spoke to his own nature, his strengths, his ambitions¡ªeven the parts of him he hadn''t fully recognized. As he approached each piece, the knowledge of what it would offer him didn''t come in words or voices. Instead, it was like a whisper in his blood, an instinctive awareness that felt both ancient and immediate. First, he stood before the Rook. The Rook is a towering fortress crafted from deep obsidian stone, its surface glistening with protective runes that surround the shining material. As he studied the piece, a powerful sense of solidity washed over him. If he chose the Rook he would gain a power that would allow him to hold mass amounts of enemies behind. A drastic increase to his Aura or Mana would happen depending on his choice. It was tempting, powerful¡but also heavy. Moving to the Knights'' pieces, he felt a sharp, almost electrifying sensation settle over him. The Knight resembles a sleek, polished silver steed, its mane intricately detailed and its eyes glowing with azure intensity. It exudes agility and precision, hinting at its mastery over movement, control¡and drastic control over Aura. His mind stirred at the promise of complete mastery over aura. He envisioned a razor-sharp precision, an unparalleled control that would flow through every strike, every movement. The author''s content has been appropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon. His blade skills would reach a height that others could only dream of, becoming an extension of his very self, honed to such a degree that he would command them as naturally as breathing. The thought struck him as alluring. His gaze then fell on the Bishop. The Bishop is a tall, translucent crystal piece, swirling with vibrant colors and emanating a deep violet glow. Approaching it, he felt a strange, almost reverent sensation pass through him. Choosing the Bishop would elevate his understanding of mana, his intellect sharpening in ways that were almost daunting. His magical prowess would ascend far beyond what most could imagine¡ªbut the impression didn''t end there. Spirit Essence. "What the hell¡" Ren couldn''t help but speak out loud inside of the vast space. For all the races inside of this world¡which energy path they would take was mainly predetermined. Humans were the only race inside of the entire world that was able to choose between Aura and mana. But with choices also came responsibility, since if they chose wrong their entire future would be doomed. No Human had ever used Spirit Essence before¡yet his Life Codex was offering this path to him. He could hardly believe it, but the Bishop offered this possibility. To wield Spirit Essence was to reach into realms that humanity had always considered forbidden. Using Spirit Essences did not automatically make one the strongest in the entire world¡however it did put them in leagues above the rest. For example, one of the strongest races in the entire world, Dragons, used Spirit Essence in their battles. Eventually he moved on, arriving at the Queen. As he approached, an immense, almost overwhelming energy pulsed from it, as though its potential couldn''t be contained within its simple form. The Queen piece felt like a force unto itself, capable of wielding any energy, bending it at will. The Queen is a majestic golden figure, adorned with intricate filigree and crowned with radiant gemstones. She radiates versatility and power, commanding dominance on the chessboard with elegance. Two forms of energy, he realized, marveling. This was not a path that restricted him to a single talent. His pulse quickened as he considered the strength of this choice, this sheer, unfathomable potential that would turn him into something truly versatile and unpredictable. Since the dawn of time, only 7 Humans had ever been able to use both Aura and Magic simultaneously, and they were all Monarchs who had united the Human race against the other races. The Queen piece offered him the potential to have this¡ Next, he stopped before the Pawns. The Pawn is a simple yet elegant black marble piece, each featuring unique engravings hinting at untapped potential. The simplicity of the pieces was deceptive, their potential hidden beneath unassuming forms. Choosing one of these would mean waiting, delaying his choice until his codex fully developed. But with patience, he could evolve beyond his original decision, maturing as his skills grew. He recognized the wisdom in this¡ªafter all, the path to power often took unexpected turns. Choosing a pawn would mean putting faith in his own growth, trusting that his potential could one day rival even the grandest of pieces. Flexibility, he realized, was the path here, a subtle yet invaluable strength in its own right. Finally, his gaze rested on the King. The King''s piece didn''t tell him anything. As he stood over the piece all he felt was a bottomless void, something that couldn''t be questioned and was inevitable. And Ren was familiar with the game of chess¡while the Queen was an extremely strong piece, the game ended with the King falling. At the end of the day, the King''s piece was the most vital for one. ?As Ren''s fingers pressed against the King piece, the board around him began to shimmer, each piece dissolving into thin air, vanishing as if they had never existed. All that remained was him, the King, and an unfathomable expanse of stars swirling in the darkness beyond. He felt a pulse under his hand, as though the King piece itself was alive, acknowledging him. The energy flowing from it was calm, measured, neither forceful nor gentle, yet filled with a kind of purpose. It moved through him like the beating of his own heart, touching every corner of his mind and body, settling in with a quiet authority. ?As the other pieces faded one by one, dissolving into the starry expanse, Ren watched in quiet awe as the King piece before him began to transform. Its polished ebony surface stretched and grew, reshaping itself with a silent elegance, until it became a throne of deep obsidian, gleaming faintly under the celestial light. The throne radiated an aura of both protection and restrained menace. Its structure was imposing, built with a solid, unyielding form, yet its edges were lined with intricate carvings that seemed almost alive, twisting into shapes that hinted at an ancient power lying dormant within. Spikes rose subtly from the back and armrests, not enough to overwhelm its regal form, but enough to imply that any who approached it without respect would face grave consequences. It exudes an aura of vigilance, as if it stood as a silent guardian over realms untold, watching for any threat that might dare draw close. Seated upon this throne was an old man, his presence as imposing as the throne itself. His long, silver hair fell past his shoulders, and his beard, equally as white, was braided in intricate patterns that gave him a timeless, almost mythic appearance. His face was worn with age, etched by experience, yet his eyes glowed with a fierce vitality, a sharpness that belied his years. In his hand, he held an extraordinarily long sword, a weapon that appeared far too large for any ordinary man to wield. Its blade was buried into the ground at his feet, glinting with a cold, lethal edge even in the dim light. The hilt was engraved with runes that seemed to pulse faintly, as though the sword itself were alive, in perfect resonance with its wielder. The old man''s grip on the sword was light but steady, a calm confidence that spoke of both mastery and restraint. Ren could feel it¡ªthe sword and throne alike were symbols of command, of protection, but also of the threat they posed to anyone foolish enough to test their strength. ... This was the norm for everyone who awakened their Life Codex. First, with the Headmasters energy, they would be sent into the physical manifestation, Nexus, of the codex. Following this, they would be given their choice of the type of energy they would want to use. For humans, it was between Aura and Mana. However, for him, Spirit Essence also existed. Three paths lay before him: Aura, the energy of will and determination; Mana, the force of magic that had coursed through his family for generations; and Spirit Essence, an ethereal connection to realms beyond comprehension. Each offered its own power, its own destiny. However the thought of Awakening Spirit Essence didn''t cross Ren''s mind. While it was an extremely strong path, he wouldn''t have anyone to teach him. The Dragons, which used Spirit Essence, knew how to use it since birth. Sure Humanity might have books to help him but he would be left on his own. There was also the whole being an outcast to the entire world¡ Given his lineage as part of a long line of mages, Ren had always prepared himself for the path of Mana. Life Codex were hereditary. It was how most Noble and Royal structures had been formed. The Life Code system functions almost like a genetic code or magical DNA. It was why it was basically impossible for the commoners of the world to get a proper Codex and their forever destined to stay weak. It was why most nobles developed a superiority complex. For generations, his family birthed the strongest combat mages of the entire Human Domain. The prospect of wielding such potent magic, of following in the footsteps of his ancestors, had been his dream. Ren loved the study of Magic, and thus he wished to pursue it. He envisioned himself as a mage of incredible prowess, commanding the very forces of nature to do his bidding. He was ready to choose Mana, his heart set on the familiar embrace of magic. But just as he was about to mentally accept this path, the old man on the throne lifted his gaze. Ren''s breath caught in his throat as he locked eyes with the ancient figure. The man''s eyes were a brilliant red, shimmering like rubies in the starlit void. It was a gaze that felt as if it could peer into the very essence of his soul, stripping away all pretense and hesitation. In a calm, steady voice that echoed through the vastness, he spoke, "Choose Aura." Ren''s heart raced as he processed the man''s words. Aura? It felt foreign, a departure from the legacy of mages that defined his family. The choice lingered in his mind, a fleeting shadow of doubt flickering to life. Selecting Aura would set him back compared to his peers, many of whom would likely choose Mana for its grandeur and versatility. He didn''t want that¡which 14 year old would want to lose to his peers? Yet, he recalled a lesson from his mother, one that had shaped his understanding of power: a Life Codex was an extension of oneself, a reflection of one''s true nature. He hesitated, weighing the implications of this decision. The old man watched him with an inscrutable expression, and Ren felt a stirring in his chest. He understood, in that moment, that this choice was not about power alone; it was about authenticity. His codex had manifested this figure for a reason, and it urged him toward Aura.Unauthorized duplication: this narrative has been taken without consent. Report sightings. With a deep breath, Ren steeled himself. "I choose Aura," he declared, feeling a surge of energy coursing through him as he spoke those words. The old man smiled, and Ren felt the weight of the choice settle around him, imbued with a sense of purpose and clarity. In that moment, he realized that this path was not a rejection of his heritage but an embrace of who he truly was meant to be. ?With a sudden jolt, Ren opened his eyes, finding himself back in the Awakening Chamber, enveloped once more in the pristine, blinding white light. The ethereal chessboard, the imposing king''s throne, and the enigmatic old man had all vanished, leaving only the smooth, polished surface of the chamber beneath him. Yet, as he stood there, something felt amiss. He strained to sense the power of Aura that he had just chosen, but it remained elusive, like a whisper just out of reach. Normally, a newly awakened Aura would radiate through him, vibrant and alive, but instead, he felt an unsettling emptiness within. Ren realized with a sinking feeling that his body, honed for years to become a mage, lacked the physical strength necessary to channel the Aura effectively. The years he had dedicated to studying spells and honing his magical abilities had come at a cost; he hadn''t developed the robust physique needed to wield this primal energy. It felt as though he was standing on the edge of a vast ocean without the means to dive in. He flexed his fingers, willing for the surge of energy he had anticipated, but instead of an electric current, he felt a subtle heaviness. The latent potential of Aura thrummed at the edges of his awareness, but he lacked the capacity to grasp it fully. ?Just as Ren was gathering his thoughts, the soft, melodic voice of Gaia resonated through the Awakening Chamber, filling the void with clarity. "It has been registered that you have selected Aura," she announced. "It has also been sensed that your Life Codex is classified as ''Unique,''. If you wish to do so, please provide a brief outline of its abilities." Ren wasn''t particularly surprised that his Life Code was unique. Unique Life codes were not too rare, since it just meant that it was the first of its kind, or Gaia was unable to classify it into a type of Life Codex. "I do not wish to provide any details." Ren started. Professors and High ranking students had access to this information for planning students training, however that didn''t mean Ren had to tell them everything. "That is alright¡if not your Codex abilities, would you be keen on sharing your first Aspect?" Gaia questioned. Ren remained quiet¡Aspect. An Aspect was the skills one would receive from the Life Codex. Usually right after their awakening one would learn what their initial Aspect was. Following this, depending on how talented one was, they would unlock an unknown number of Aspects. The number was never determined properly, but the highest number of recorded Aspects for one before reaching the Heroic ranks was 5¡ and that was for the Headmaster himself. Ren also realized¡he didn''t know what his initial Aspect was. But he wasn''t too worried about it. He knew it probably had something to do with the fact that he couldn''t use Aura yet. ''All in due time,'' he couldn''t help but think. He already knew he had awakened a splendid Life Codex, while he did not have his family''s Life Codex, that did not bother him too much. "No, I wish for that to remain a secret too." Ren continued. "Understood. So for now, you will be classified as a Unique Codex user with an undetermined potential rank." Gaia explained to Ren his classification for the future. After another second, Gaia continued, "Your student mentor has been classified, he is waiting outside." As Gaia said that, a door opened inside of this never ending white space, and thus space and time seemed to resume flowing. Ren nodded politely towards the AI Orb, there was no harm in treating something that had treated him well with respect. Ren then steadily walked towards the outside of the Awakening chamber and saw plenty of students were constantly walking out of similar chambers he had been inside off. To be able to manipulate space, time and facilitate the awakening of so many people at once...the Headmaster sure was a force to be reckoned with. ?As Ren stepped out of the Awakening Chamber, the atmosphere shifted dramatically. The endless white space faded behind him, replaced by a vibrant throng of students, each one buzzing with excitement and anticipation. He could see a mix of expressions on their faces¡ªsome wore smiles of triumph and others displayed a nervousness. As Ren navigated through the sea of students, he felt a sudden tap on his shoulder. He turned to find a man standing there, a head taller than him. This newcomer exuded an aura of relaxed confidence, though his appearance suggested he was a bit disheveled. His hair was completely messy, tousled as if he had just rolled out of bed, and he sported a scruffy stubble that gave him a rugged, unrefined look. The man wore the academy uniform for the 4th year¡ªa distinctive red suit paired with a blue tie and a crisp white undershirt. However, unlike the other seniors who wore their blazers with pride, this man had tossed his aside, leaving his shirt untucked and his tie hanging loosely around his neck. The black color of his hair contrasted sharply with the vibrant colors of the uniform, adding to his laid-back demeanor. "Are you Ren?" The man questioned, even though he seemed to already know the answer to this question. "Yes." "Well...unluckily for you, I am your Student Mentor. My name is Kai and I am a 4th Year. Follow me, this place is too crowded." Kai mentioned, as he walked in a specific direction. ... Authors Note: Hope you guys will enjoy this novel. Not like knowing the information right now was his duty. However, Ren was definitely disappointed with how his mentor seemed to take care of himself. It was not something that could be helped, since he had been brought up in high-society. ?As Kai led Ren through the winding corridors of the academy, they soon arrived at a laboratory that felt like a world of its own. The door swung open to reveal a chaotic yet strangely inviting space. The walls were lined with whiteboards, each one covered in a dizzying array of numbers, symbols, and arcane theories, all scribbled in hasty, overlapping handwriting. Papers and scrolls were strewn across every available surface, some piled high while others were pinned haphazardly to the walls. It was a creative jumble that seemed to pulse with the energy of ongoing experiments and unrestrained ideas. To an outsider, it looked like the remnants of a storm¡ªan organized chaos where inspiration had erupted in a frenzy. Ren stepped inside, his eyes widening at the sight. He took a few cautious steps forward, glancing at the whiteboards. Despite having spent years studying magic and theory, he found himself unable to decipher most of what was written there. The equations swirled with unfamiliar symbols, and the magical theories seemed to intertwine in ways he had never encountered before. Just as he leaned closer to examine a particularly convoluted diagram, Kai''s voice cut through the overwhelming confusion. "Don''t touch anything," he said, his tone casual yet firm. "Everything is¡everywhere." Rem couldn''t help but mutter. Kai chuckled softly, shaking his head. "It''s an organized mess. I know where everything is supposed to be," he said, deftly maneuvering around a stack of papers, pulling some out and rearranging others with practiced ease. The atmosphere in the lab was thick with the scent of ink and parchment, and the air crackled with a sense of discovery. Ren felt a mix of awe and uncertainty as he took in the chaotic brilliance surrounding him, realizing that he had stepped into the domain of someone who thrived on this kind of disorder. As he watched Kai navigate through the clutter with familiarity, Ren couldn''t help but wonder what secrets and knowledge lay hidden in this labyrinth of magic and numbers. ?As Kai rummaged through the scattered papers and clutter, he suddenly paused, his fingers brushing against something shiny hidden beneath a tangle of scrolls. He pulled out a bracelet, its sleek design catching the light in the lab. The piece was elegantly crafted, shimmering with an ethereal glow that hinted at its magical properties. With a casual flick of his wrist, Kai slipped the bracelet onto his arm, its presence seeming to enhance his already relaxed demeanor. Without missing a beat, he reached for another bracelet that resembled his own. He tossed it to Ren, who instinctively caught it, feeling the cool metal against his skin. "That bracelet contains a piece of Gaia," Kai explained, his tone matter-of-fact. "However, most of its functions are locked for you right now. For the time being, all it shows is Gaia''s evaluation of you. The only people who have access to this information are the professors, me, and the Headmaster."If you encounter this narrative on Amazon, note that it''s taken without the author''s consent. Report it. Ren turned the bracelet over in his hands, examining its intricate design and the faint pulse of energy emanating from it. ?As Ren secured the bracelet around his wrist, a flicker of light caught his eye, and a two-dimensional image materialized in his vision, clear and crisp yet only visible to him. It glowed faintly, revealing the following evaluations: Life Codex: ? Aspects: ? Strength: Common - Agility: Common - Stamina: Common - Sense: Common - Endurance: Uncommon - Intelligence: Rare Aura: Unlocked (unranked) Overall Evaluation: Student Ren seems to have trained to become a mage since a young age; however, due to his Unique Life Codex, he has switched gears and decided to use Aura. He will have to train extensively to catch up to the average physique of Aura users, which is classified as Uncommon-. Aura will also require extra boosts to be controlled effectively within the student. ... ?"So," Kai called out, breaking Ren''s concentration as he lounged casually atop a cluttered table, swinging his legs over the edge while lazily regarding Ren. "You''re from the Kriesten Royal Family, right? Your codex has to be something special for you to choose to become an Aura user instead of sticking with Mana." Ren had somewhat expected this question, after all his family were monsters inside of the human domain in the realms of Magic. "Yeah, that''s right," he replied, trying to sound casual despite the weight of expectations that came with his family name. "But I didn''t really choose it because of that. I just¡ª" Kai cut him off with a wave of his hand. "You don''t need to justify it. I get it. But it''s not every day you see someone from a prestigious family like yours pivoting away from tradition. Not that it matters in the long run¡ Ren had been taught inside of the Imperial Palace from his mother that it didn''t matter which energy one picked, since at the higher ranks everything blended in together. And this was coming from someone who was a Saintess. A Saintess...something he was so far away from to the point it was not even funny. In this world, the ranks of powers were determined, with each major rank being a clear barrier for everyone to break through, at least for the Divine Trinity. Right now, Ren himself was inside of the Common rank of power. This was where a large majority of teens and some adults were inside off within the human domain. Following this, is the uncommon rank, which most ordinary people would never reach, but for noblemen with proper resources and training, was the norm even before the academy. Following this is the Rare rank, the maximum someone can reach without any types of energy helping to enhance their bodies and mind constantly. After this is the Heroic rank. According to his mother, reaching the Heroic rank is a huge barrier to most people for a reason I would only be able to know when I myself had reached the bottle neck. After this is the Epic rank, something which the most noble head of the countries were at. The second highest rank recorded inside of the Human domain is the Saint rank...where his mother stood. She is someone who was approaching the peak of humanity''s limit. "Alright then." Kai spoke to Ren, breaking his self immersion. "Would it be a good time for us to begin our training right now?" ... Inside of a training chamber, something people in the academy had access to were Kai and Ren. And at the side of it, Ren was currently looking at the plothero of weapons inside of the chamber. The various shapes and sizes of weapons didn''t overwhelm him. He just calmly looked at all the weapons, since picking one now didn''t necessarily mean he was locked into something for the future. After moments of pondering, Ren had decided to go for the Greatsword as his weapon of choice. The greatsword was a massive, double-edged blade with a gleaming silver finish, nearly as tall as Ren himself and crafted to deliver powerful, sweeping strikes. Its hilt was wrapped in dark leather, offering a steady grip, and the crossguard flared outward like wings, adding both balance and fierce elegance. Kai didn''t really seem to care, as he patiently waited for Ren to be done and watched as Ren reached the center of the training area. Kai was currently staring into blank space, or at least that was how it had seemed to Ren. "So." Kai began. "Your type of training for the next few weeks will be simple. I think I know why Gaia has paired you with just me." "And why is that?" Ren questioned, since he was also curious as to why he had no why Gaia paired him with this...interesting senior. Kai was clearly a mana user and didn''t know much about Aura. Ren also made the observation of Kai never mentioning him having any first years inside of his group with him. "Because you are completely unknown to it." Kai said. Ren was slightly shocked at this evaluation, he was unknown to something that the headmaster created? "After all, you''re from the Kriesten family, it probably expected you to choose Mana, yet you chose Aura. It probably then assumed your Codex helped your body amplifications, yet since your statistics were so low that wasn''t the case. You didn''t make any logical choices, so Gaia sent you to me to make sense of you. Also, you need strict regimentation and someone who can provide a lot of attention to you and not a lot of mentors are as free as me." Kai explained his thoughts. .. It was not like Ren had never trained his physical body, since even Mages had to have a strong body in case defensive magic did not work properly, however just like for his family members, his talent in his physique was...nonexistent. It was deemed that he would not have any talent for Aura. After all, Life Codex worked in mysterious ways, just because one was not activated did not mean one couldn''t perceive signs of them. If someone''s Life Codex was very clearly going to be someone about Physical Augmentation, then from a young age they would be stronger than their peers. However, Ren had never had something that pointed towards the inclination of Aura. His physical talent was considered trash, which was not surprising for his Families Codex. However, his family didn''t really worry about this glaring fact due to the intrinsic nature of the world. One couldn''t have stats that were too skewed, the world typically sought balance in a being. And thus, if someone''s mind stats were extremely high, the mana they have would passively feed their body stats to bring it to an acceptable rank. Just like if someone''s body rank was extremely high, Aura would temper the mind, eventually. First, it would finish tempering the body. "And you can help me with that?" Ren questioned Kai. "Yes. Even though unlike you, I use Mana, my Life Codex gives me intelligence boosts. Gaia must have deemed my skills a need to help you advance your physique in the fastest way possible." "So why a weapon?" Ren questioned. Didn''t it make more sense to begin body workouts first before beginning learning how to use weapons. Kai looked straight into Ren''s eyes for a moment, before Ren saw Kais eyes change. From their normal black color, Golden Gears appeared into the iris of Kai as he seemed to analyze the very essence of Ren. However they disappeared as soon as they appeared so Ren didn''t even get a good look at them. "I need to see if you''re talented in any weapon due to your Codex. Some Codex''s give multiple passive boosts but the users don''t know about it until much later into the path. I need to eliminate such variables.'''' Ren nodded at that explanation, since it made sense to him. "Well then. I will be observing from there." Kai said as he pointed towards a window that showed a safe viewing area. "You''re not going to be here as I begin my training?" Ren questioned. "Nope, I have a nice comfortable seat over there." Kai mentioned nonchalantly and left without hearing Ren''s reply. ''What type of mentor did I get?'' Ren couldn''t help but sigh a little. As he was waiting patiently, Ren watched as a 3d construct appeared in front of him. It was something he had seen before and was familiar with. Training with something like this is usually how people could view techniques without the need for instructors to be there all the time. "This construct is similar to you in all physical statistics. All it has over you is technique in using the Greatsword. Your objective is simple, mimic the movements of the construct. There is no time limit to this so you may take your time." As Kai finished his instructions, Ren watched as the construct in front of him materialized a great sword for it to hold and took a basic stance. With the sword in front of it, the construct which had its feet spread tensed slightly and raised the greatsword high into the air, and then swiftly brought the blade down towards the floor. As Ren watched the entire thing, he could instinctively feel his body move. This story originates from Royal Road. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there. He mimicked the posture of the construct and bent his knees slightly. He then held the heavy great sword in his hand and raised it. He struggled slightly at its weight yet strained a little as he brought the sword down with great momentum. ''That didn''t feel right.'' As if to confirm his thoughts, a voice spread into the training area, "That was off. Your posture as you swing the weapon down is different from the construct." As Kai finished his feedback, Ren watched the holograph move again, with the same perfect movements. This time, he made sure to follow through with his swing properly. ''Something is still wrong.'' Ren couldn''t help but think. He had this feeling inside of him...telling him he was wrong. And this time, before Kai could even give him advice on where he messed up, Ren got into the swinging sword again and brought the weapon down. Again. Again. And again. It only took 3 more tries for him to be able to mimic the swing perfectly and Ren didn''t get any annoying feeling, telling him that he had messed up. Outside in the observatory sector, Kai watched the whole situation with a raised eyebrow. "Gaia." He called out to his bracelet. "Yes, Ranker Heavenfall?" Gaia replied almost instantly to him. "Send this terminal the usual rate of training of an average person in the academy for learning weapon arts." "As you wish." Gaia replied, and right after that the terminals in front of Kai lit up. "Well...this is certainly interesting." ... Every time he swung the great sword, something inside of Ren was able to tell him if he was moving the wrong way. It was this sort of annoying sensation. Right after he finished his movement, sometimes even during the movement, something would tell him that he did something wrong. Capitalizing on this feeling, Ren corrected himself and was quickly able to learn all the basics of the greatsword within the first hour. Overhead, side, diagonal slashing and thrusting. He was able to figure out everything down to how his wrist should move with such a large weapon in his hands. "Move onto a different weapon. I would prefer it if you used the spear." Kai''s voice came from the viewing room. Ren didn''t question him and moved to change his weapon. As he held the spear in his hand and stood in the center of the room, Ren once again mimicked the hologram movements of the spear. However, for some reason, this time there was no sensation. No matter how much he tried, his instincts didn''t guide him in moving his spear in a certain way this time. However, when he switched to another bladed weapon, a Katana, he was able to master it fairly quickly. Yet with a bow, just like the spear, he couldn''t master them as quickly. The doors to the room opened, as Kai walked back into the room with a nonchalant look. "Well you must have realized, your codex allows you to gain an insane speed of mastery of bladed weapons but not so much for other types. Now I have a rough idea of where to focus you on. Our main objective is for you to have a body stable enough to accept Aura." Kai explained as Ren nodded. "So for now, we will be using a lot of this." Kai said, as he passed over a pellet to Ren. "What is this?" Ren asked curiously. "Have you ever heard of the term doping, my friend?" ... Inside the student council room, Magnus was currently sorting out papers provided to him by Aiden, the student council vice president. "It seems like an interesting batch with a lot of prospective heirs of nations." Magnus commented as he read the student reports that Gaia had made for him. He was in charge of the entire first year curriculum. "Yes." Aiden said, as he pulled out 4 specific files and placed them in front of Magnus. "But I believe that these are the ones that require the most attention. Their cases are special, and 3 of them even have a decent Codex that Gaia said has the potential to be of a rank higher than ''Heroic''.'''' Aiden said. Just like human statistics, even Life Codex''s were ranked into the standards of the world. However it was hard to quantify anything past the Heroic rank. "I assume Gaia has provided specific one-on-one tutoring for them?" Magnus questioned as he skimmed through the files. "Yes, however I think we should pay attention to this specific boy." Aiden said as he put a file forward. "Ren Kriesten...so another one of that bloodline. His brother was the previous head of the student council and I was serving as the vice-president then, yet he had never mentioned him." Magnus said as he read Ren''s file thoroughly. "Yes, as you should know they are both prospective heirs so they don''t have the best of relationship." Aiden commented, "But that isn''t why you should take note of him. Look at who Gaia assigned as his Student Mentor." "Kai?!" Magnus said, his voice in shock. Up till now he didn''t really have a major reaction since a Kriesten being in special consideration was the norm. However, being provided Kai...that demon, was a whole different story. Not only did Kai skip a year in his first year, which rarely happens. He was also crowned a Ranker. Every year, there would always be an anomaly. Someone who could fight beyond the age groups and training the academy yet still choose to not leave the academy. People who had decided to willingly stay, each for their own special reasons. Ren''s elder brother was such an anomaly. So was Magnus. And the one for the current 4th year is Kai. "Keep an eye on Ren. With Kai as his mentor he is bound to be an interesting Case." .. At the end of his long training session, Ren found his way to his student accommodation. It wasn''t anything grand, since the first years were not provided with their own mansions. He had his own room with all his items and clothing for the school year already arranged. For the first semester, first years were not provided with uniforms, since they were not inside of any classes yet. At the end of the first semester, the first years would be streamlined into their classes and have unique uniforms depending on which class they go to. Then again, in their 4th year, they would have different uniforms. A standard one among the entire grade, since a large batch of the current 900 students would leave the academy after their 3rd year. As Ren laid down on his bed, he looked to the ceiling of his room with his hands raised into the hair. His palm which was in contact with the hilt of a great sword the entire time had torn slightly and stinged a little. ?Even though Ren was not used to physical exertion, it felt exhilarating. ?As Ren closed his eyes and drifted into sleep, he found himself standing somewhere completely different¡ªa vast, endless stretch of grasslands beneath a sky heavy with tension. ''Where the hell am I?'' Ren questioned, as he looked down at his hands to see that he didn''t seem to have a body in this dream. He then looked around him, and was shocked at the sights. On either side of the field stood massive armies, their ranks stretching far beyond his sight, the soldiers bristling with weapons and armored in steel. The earth trembled beneath the weight of millions, as if the land itself knew that battle was near. Close by, two warriors faced each other, both clad in ornate, battle-worn armor. One held a sword, its blade gleaming with an edge sharp enough to slice through steel. The other wielded a massive greatsword, its sheer size a testament to the strength of its bearer. Their eyes locked in an intense, wordless exchange, each studying the other, anticipating the first move. Silence settled over the field as even the armies held their breath, waiting for the inevitable clash. Then, with a speed that defied Ren''s eyes, both warriors vanished from their spots and reappeared in a furious blur, weapons meeting with a thunderous clash right in front of him. ?Sparks exploded from the impact, scattering like stars across the grass, as the two warriors pressed against each other with ferocity and precision. Their swordsmanship was as mesmerizing as it was lethal. The swordsman, wielding a standard blade, moved with a quick, controlled elegance. His strikes were precise, each aimed to exploit any subtle opening in his opponent''s defense. He pivoted gracefully, shifting his stance with fluidity, keeping his center low as he circled his adversary. His movements were economical, conserving energy as he struck at the weak points in the greatsword warrior''s armor¡ªhis joints, the gap between his shoulder and breastplate, and the unarmored space along the thigh. Each attack was intended to disable without overextending, a calculated dance of lethal intention. In contrast, the warrior with the greatsword fought with a relentless power, each swing carrying an intimidating weight. His strikes weren''t just attacks but calculated demolitions, aimed to shatter defenses rather than slip through them. He took long, grounded steps, planting his feet firmly before unleashing powerful, sweeping arcs that forced his opponent to either parry with precision or evade entirely. If you spot this narrative on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation. His greatsword arced in wide, horizontal swings, each strike a crushing blow aimed at battering the swordsman''s defenses. He moved with the deliberate momentum of a storm, using the weight of his weapon to control the rhythm of the fight, forcing his opponent to match his pace or risk being overwhelmed. As they clashed, their styles complemented and contrasted, turning the duel into a brutal and intricate symphony. The swordsman dodged and countered with pinpoint strikes, aiming for the weaker areas of the greatsword warrior''s defenses. He would feint high, forcing the greatsword to rise, only to duck and drive his blade toward his opponent''s side, testing every possible gap. But the greatsword warrior countered with his own resilience, using the reach and sheer force of his weapon to keep the swordsman at bay. When pressed, he would shift his grip and bring the greatsword down in a crushing vertical strike, intent on breaking through the swordsman''s guard altogether. Each clash became a study in tension and release, power versus precision, as they attacked, evaded, and countered in an unyielding struggle. The swordsman''s quick footwork and honed reflexes allowed him to dance around the greatsword''s heavy swings, while the greatsword warrior''s immense strength and control over his weapon allowed him to dictate the pace, turning even missed attacks into opportunities to shift his stance and regain ground. The armies roared, each side cheering for their champion, their voices merging into an overwhelming cry that shook Ren to his core. He felt his own pulse quicken, his blood surging with a fierce energy. As the duel raged on, Ren watched in awe as cracks formed beneath the warriors'' feet, the ground splintering under the force of their battle. A vivid energy¡ªaura¡ªsurged around them, wrapping their weapons in a sharp, blinding glow. Each swing of their swords sent shockwaves through the field, the aura enhancing their strikes and creating trails of light that illuminated the darkening sky. Suddenly, after a flurry of strikes, one of the champions stepped back, raising his hand. His voice cut through the battlefield like a blade: "Aura Zone." Instantly, the air grew dense, and a strange force spread out from the warrior, covering a five-meter radius around him. Ren felt a sudden, eerie stillness in that space as the aura of the opposing warrior flickered¡ªand then vanished. Ren could also tell¡this¡this was his first aspect! The vibrant energy that had surrounded his opponent''s sword dissipated, leaving it dull, almost lifeless. ?Despite the chilling effectiveness of "Aura Zone," which blocked his opponent''s energy while preserving his own, the swordsman with the standard blade seemed prepared. The moment he sensed his aura being suppressed, he leaped backward, just outside the radius, maintaining his composure. His eyes narrowed as he assessed the situation, noting the subtle shift in the atmosphere, the oppressive stillness dissipating bit by bit. After a few tense seconds, he felt the air revert to its usual state, free of the aura-dampening force. Sensing that the Aura Zone had ended, he wasted no time. With a swift exhale, he launched himself back into the fray, closing the distance in a heartbeat. His movements were swift and calculated, each step bringing him closer with an air of control and purpose. He moved like a predator, his sword poised and ready to strike. In one smooth motion, he aimed a powerful thrust toward his opponent''s chest, forcing the greatsword warrior to step back and raise his weapon defensively. Anticipating this, the swordsman shifted his stance mid-attack, redirecting his blade in a sharp arc aimed at the shoulder joint. He struck not with brute force, but with precise angles, aiming to wear down his opponent''s defenses. The greatsword warrior countered with an overhead strike, intending to break the swordsman''s rhythm and force him back. But the swordsman sidestepped with barely a pause, deflecting the heavy blow just enough to avoid its full force. Using his momentum, he struck low, aiming for the exposed area near his opponent''s leg armor, trying to destabilize his footing. Sparks flew again as their blades met, and the soldiers watching erupted into cheers as the two warriors continued their dance, power clashing against precision in a duel of relentless intensity. ?As the fierce battle neared its climax, Ren could feel the tension in the air intensify. The two warriors, locked in a brutal struggle, prepared for one final, decisive clash. He watched as both combatants charged up their aura, energy pulsing around their weapons, casting vivid trails of light that illuminated their fierce expressions. The ground trembled as they dashed towards each other, intent on ending the fight in one unstoppable strike. But just as they were about to collide, an oppressive force swept over the field¡ªthe Aura Zone. Once again, the greatsword warrior activated his technique, and all aura in the vicinity vanished except his own. Ren could see the shock in the swordsman''s eyes as his aura vanished, his blade now defenseless against the greatsword''s empowered strike. The two closed in, and the final clash seemed inevitable. Then, suddenly, the scene froze. Ren felt time warp around him, a strange sensation as if everything were unraveling and flowing backward. The battlefield, the clash, the shimmering aura¡ªall rewound before his eyes. The armies faded into the distance, the cracked ground mended itself, and the two warriors returned to their original stances at the beginning of the dream. When the reversal ended, Ren stood once more at the start of the duel. He realized he was drenched in sweat, his heart pounding as if he''d been part of the battle himself. He struggled to catch his breath, feeling the intensity of the warriors'' struggle coursing through him. .. Authors Note: Hope you guys will enjoy this novel. Ren watched in awe and dread as the same fierce clash unfolded, the same flurry of sparks lighting up the air, the same aura-charged strikes crashing against each other. Each movement, every feint and powerful swing, repeated exactly as before. The swordsman leaped back as the Aura Zone appeared, only to charge forward when it ended¡ªonly for time to rewind, pulling them back to the start of their relentless, cyclical battle. Over and over, the fight replayed, each repetition feeling both eerily familiar and hauntingly intense. Ren felt himself being drawn into the rhythm, his heart racing as he anticipated every clash, every spark, every surge of aura. He lost track of how many times he''d seen the same moment unfold¡ªthe aura-charged blades, the warriors'' narrowed eyes, the oppressive weight of the Aura Zone¡ªbut each time, the tension hit him as if it were happening for the first time. Finally, after what felt like an eternity trapped in the endless battle, a distant ringing pierced through the din of the battlefield. Ren blinked, feeling the strange loop dissolve, the grasslands fading into darkness as he felt himself being pulled back to reality. He opened his eyes to the sound of his alarm, his sheets damp with sweat, his heart still pounding as if he had fought in the battle himself. The dream was over, but its intensity lingered, echoing in his mind like the final clash of those two warriors. ... "You look like shit. Rough night?" Kai commented as he saw Ren enter the training chamber. "Well...something like that." Ren said, deciding to keep what had happened to himself. Normally something like this would cause someone to think they were being haunted since this was clearly not usual. However, since Aura Zone was involved, Ren knew that this was something related to his Life Codex. And anything related to his Life Codex should be cards he kept to himself. "Alright then, today we will begin sparring against robots. Something casual, just so you will not flinch when a sword is flying right towards you." ?Ren took a steadying breath, gripping the greatsword tightly in his hands. It felt different today, somehow¡ªa natural extension of himself, as if he''d spent a lifetime wielding it instead of just the one session of practice he''d had. He couldn''t quite place why, but it felt like his hands knew the weapon, guiding him almost instinctively. In the viewing chamber, Kai pressed a button, and the hologram flickered to life. A figure with a build nearly identical to Ren''s materialized before him. The holographic opponent approached, moving fluidly with a calculated, deliberate step, the same greatsword held firmly in its hands. Ren watched it closely, his senses heightened, almost as if he were watching the duel from his dream play out again. Then, without warning, the hologram lunged forward, swinging its blade in a powerful arc aimed at Ren''s side. Almost unconsciously, Ren sidestepped, dodging the attack just as he''d seen the swordsman in his dream do countless times. His body seemed to anticipate the movements of the hologram, mimicking the techniques of the greatsword warrior from his vision.Stolen content warning: this tale belongs on Royal Road. Report any occurrences elsewhere. He raised his weapon and swung, meeting the hologram''s blade with a solid clash. Not quite right, Ren thought, his grip shifting as he felt a strange discord between his instincts and his trained reflexes. His body wanted to move as he''d seen in the dream, but something felt slightly off. He took another step, adjusting his stance as he brought the greatsword down with a precise, deliberate strike, testing his form against the memory of that nightmarish duel. The hologram countered with a quick, sweeping strike, and Ren''s body moved on its own, ducking and twisting with a speed that surprised even him. He parried the attack, but the force of the blow reminded him of the overwhelming power the greatsword warrior had wielded in his dream. The memory of that crushing strength filled his mind, and he found himself adapting to match it, adding weight and precision to each swing. Kai watched from the viewing chamber, eyebrows raised as he observed Ren''s movements. There was a raw intensity to them now, something that wasn''t supposed to be shown in the eyes of someone who held the sword for the first time yesterday. The way he wielded the greatsword was less predictable, more refined, as though he''d learned from experience far beyond his actual training. ''We haven''t even begun training with footwork training yet,'' Kai thought, as he increased the holograms level slowly. ?Ren caught the slight shift in the hologram''s movements, the subtle tightening of its stance, as Kai increased the difficulty level from the viewing chamber. He didn''t pause or react to the change¡ªinstinctively, he adapted, falling into a familiar rhythm. It was as if he''d trained for this challenge countless times, as though the memory of the warriors'' clash in his dream had hardwired his reactions. Each time the hologram advanced, Ren parried, sidestepped, and countered with the precision of a seasoned fighter. The hologram''s attacks came faster, with more calculated ferocity. Ren met each swing with intense focus, adjusting his footing and angling his strikes with subtle shifts. He could almost hear the roars of the armies from his dream, feeling the same weight of the moment pressing down on him, pushing him to match the skill of the figure before him. Another clash sent vibrations through his arms, but he absorbed the force, adjusting his stance just in time to dodge a sweeping horizontal strike. He responded by slashing upward, an instinctive move that seemed to channel the power of the greatsword warrior he''d seen, his movements flowing with a strange blend of confidence and raw intensity. In the quiet space of the training chamber, his footwork, blade angles, and speed all seemed to be improving at an alarming rate. Kai watched with wide eyes, noting how Ren''s form continued to shift and adapt. But as the hologram increased its aggression, stepping into a new series of rapid combinations, Ren felt the strain creeping into his muscles. His body moved on instinct, his blade meeting each attack, but the dream''s ghostly memory was starting to fade, the physical demands beginning to outpace his own stamina. He blocked another swing, barely deflecting the weight of the hologram''s greatsword, but the force sent a tremor through his body, and he felt his strength waning. After another intense exchange, his knees finally buckled. He stumbled, the heavy greatsword weighing down his grip, and barely managed to stay on his feet as he took a step back to catch his breath. Kai immediately cut the hologram''s level down, bringing the simulation to a halt as he made his way down to Ren. "Not bad at all," Kai said, impressed. "You almost kept up with it, and you''re pushing yourself too hard. Where did you learn those moves?" Ren looked up, wiping sweat from his brow, still catching his breath. He thought back to the dream, the intensity of that endless battle, but only shook his head. "I... I''m not sure," he muttered. "It just felt¡ familiar." Kai raised an eyebrow but didn''t press further. "Well, whatever''s going on, you''re showing promise with that greatsword. We''ll build up your endurance so your body can keep up with whatever instincts you''re tapping into." Ren nodded, glancing at the blade in his hand. Since a young age, he used to hate physical exercise, but for some reason, swinging the sword felt fun. Ren then glanced up to see Kai''s eyes turn into a Golden Gear which was moving, like he had first seen. Kai then tossed over a pellet to Ren and Ren consumed it. "That will speed up your recovery. I also have good news." Kai mentioned to Ren, as he saw Ren struggle to stand up by leaning on the greatsword. "At the rate your body is improving, you will be able to sense Aura soon. So from now on, we will begin polishing your senses." Kai mentioned, as Ren nodded at the training plan. "Oh, and about a week from now I have a buddy who wants to bring over her first year." Kai mentioned nonchalantly. Ren''s eyes widened slightly at this but soon they reverted to normal. He was in an academy, student interaction was going to be the norm, even if normally for the first semester we wouldn''t see too many students. "Is this meant for just normal interactions so I can meet other first years?" Ren questioned. He knew most nobles around his age from his Empire. Obviously, it was one of his duties as the Third Prince of the Empire. He even knew the most prominent families of other countries. "Hmmm, you can say so. But my friend and I have a small bet about you guys, yet I wouldn''t worry too much about it, since it doesn''t affect you directly." Kai mentioned nonchalantly. .. At 5''8", he was taller than most boys his age, his presence imposing yet calm. He was fourteen, but his composed demeanor and precise control over his movements spoke of a maturity beyond his years. As he adjusted his stance, his fingers lightly resting on the bowstring, his eyes scanned the misty forest ahead, where targets lay hidden among the trees and underbrush. In this muddy, unpredictable terrain, random targets would spring to life¡ªsome small and distant, others close yet partially obscured by the twisting trees and vines. Yet, he never faltered, his calm unbreakable as he remained focused on the task before him. A target popped up to his right¡ªa small wooden disc painted red. Without a second''s delay, he drew his bowstring, exhaling softly as he released. The arrow flew with impeccable speed, embedding itself squarely in the center of the target. Even before the disc had settled back into the mud, he was already turning to his next mark, his feet shifting through the wet ground with surprising precision, as if the unstable terrain were a mere afterthought. Another target appeared, this time far off in the distance, barely visible in the fog. He squinted slightly, calculating the angle and compensating for the wind. With absolute calm, he nocked an arrow, aimed, and released. The arrow struck true, hitting the bullseye. His expression remained unchanged, focused and unyielding. In rapid succession, he continued to take down target after target, moving seamlessly with each shot. The forest echoed with the soft thunk of arrows meeting their mark, the boy''s steady rhythm undisturbed by the swampy ground or the randomness of the targets. Each shot seemed effortless, yet precision-driven, as if the bow were as much a part of him as his own heartbeat. This level of skill and poise was rare for his age, even among noble houses where archery training was common. But to this young man, it was simply routine¡ªa part of who he was. When the last target fell, he lowered his bow with a slight nod, a calm satisfaction in his eyes. ?As the final target fell and the last echo of the arrow''s impact faded, the forest scene flickered and dissolved, leaving only the sterile walls of the training chamber. Oliver lowered his bow, his face still as calm as when he''d begun, though a slight glint of excitement lit his eyes. The door opened, and his mentor entered the room, her presence calm yet commanding. Selena, a tall figure with light blue hair that caught the light in subtle silver hues, moved with effortless grace, her hand resting lightly on the rapier at her hip. Her piercing gaze assessed Oliver''s performance with a practiced eye, and a faint, approving smile tugged at the corner of her lips. The narrative has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident. "I''ve arranged the sparring match you requested," Selena announced, her voice carrying a note of intrigue. "It will take place in a week. I think you''ll find it interesting." Oliver''s brow lifted slightly. He rarely requested sparring matches himself, but he valued the opportunity to test his skills against a wider range of opponents. "I appreciate it," he replied, his tone respectful but measured. "I assume this one is someone strong?" "Hmmm, well I have never been let down by my¡friend on the other side, so yes." Selena''s smile grew, though she kept the specifics to herself, a glint of amusement in her eyes as she gauged Oliver''s reaction. "I thought it might be a suitable challenge." Curiosity flickered across Oliver''s usually unreadable expression. "Is this someone I should know?" "Perhaps." She gave a small, cryptic shrug, her gaze steady. "Though I''ll leave you to find that out on your own." He nodded, already focusing on how he''d prepare. "Thank you, Mentor," he said, feeling the stirrings of anticipation building within him. Selena gave him a nod and turned, her hand resting easily on the hilt of her rapier as she made her way to the exit. Just before stepping out, she looked back at him. "Train well, Oliver. You''ll want to bring everything you have to this one." With that, she was gone, leaving Oliver alone in the training chamber. He looked at the bow in his hands, his mind already racing through possible training regimens. A faint smile crossed his lips. Whoever his opponent was, he was ready for the challenge. "Please start a simulation, this time, I want to train in close quarters combat." ... ?Over the next seven days, Ren''s progress in swordsmanship was nothing short of extraordinary. The training he endured under Kai''s watch was grueling, each day pushing him to new limits, testing his resolve and his body''s capacity for improvement. His form had sharpened considerably. The awkwardness that once plagued his swings with the greatsword had disappeared, replaced by fluid, controlled movements that flowed almost naturally from one strike to the next. Each clash of metal against metal felt more like an intimate conversation between weapon and wielder, rather than the frantic attempts of a novice. Kai had begun incorporating more advanced footwork into the training, and Ren''s balance was improving with each step. What had once felt unnatural was now second nature. He began incorporating the techniques he had seen in his dreams, as though his body had learned them without his conscious mind. But despite his growing prowess, something still gnawed at him¡ªhis inability to sense his own aura. Kai had set up multiple sessions to help him tap into it, but it never seemed to click. The chamber would fill with aura, and Ren would try, focusing all his attention on the feeling that should have been there. He could feel the weight in the air, an oppressive pressure that intensified with each breath. But no matter how hard he concentrated, the connection remained elusive. During these sessions, his mental fatigue had been alleviated by the constant flow of aura into the room, but he couldn''t control it. It was as if his body had opened the door, but he couldn''t find the key to enter. Yet, despite these frustrations, Ren''s physical growth didn''t stop. His senses, while still underdeveloped, were growing sharper. His endurance continued to improve as well, allowing him to push his body further than before without collapsing from exhaustion. His strength and agility were also seeing drastic improvements thanks to the pellets that Kai was providing him with. Ren didn''t know the normal advancement pace of warriors, but he was sure he was considered as fast, since seeing improvement in one''s stats within a week was definitely not considered the norm. After a week of intense training, Ren stood before Kai once more, gripping the greatsword in his hands. He could feel the weight of the weapon, but it no longer felt burdensome. The blade had become familiar, and even if his aura remained an enigma, he could now rely on his physical abilities with a certainty that had been absent before. Kai observed him from the viewing chamber, his expression unreadable. "Not bad. Now you just need aura." Ren nodded, wiping sweat from his brow. He had come to terms with the fact that the aura wouldn''t simply reveal itself. It wasn''t something to be rushed. He just needed to keep training, keep pushing his limits, and eventually, it would come. ?Kai''s voice crackled over the intercom once again, "Alright then, our guests are here. I''m bringing them inside." Ren glanced over his stats one more time, the information flashing briefly in his mind. Updated Stats: Strength: Common Agility: Common Stamina: Common Sense: Common+ Endurance: Uncommon- Intelligence: Rare+ Aura: Unlocked (unranked) .. Authors Note: Hope you guys will enjoy this novel. If you wish to read more chapter, it will be on my p#treon p#treon.com/Fat_Cultivator Chapter 11: Spar Chapter 11: Spar His Sense had improved significantly, likely due to his focused meditation sessions trying to sense and connect with his own aura. It had even jumped two subranks. As the door slid open, Kai stepped to the side, and two figures entered the room. Ren''s eyes immediately went to the woman leading the group. It was Selena¡ªtall and commanding, with her striking light blue hair that shimmered like the frost on a winter morning. The rapier at her side was almost a part of her, its hilt sleek and elegant. Her expression was cool and controlled, as always, but there was a glimmer of amusement in her gaze as she glanced over Ren, as if she were measuring his progress. Behind her, the second person caught Ren''s attention. It was a boy, just a bit taller than Ren himself, standing with a quiet but confident air about him. He looked like he was around the same age¡ªfourteen¡ªbut already there was something sharp about him, something that spoke of a lifetime spent honing his skills. His hair was a striking shade of blond, cut short and neat, giving him a more refined, purposeful look. There was no wildness or unruliness to it, just practicality. His sharp blue eyes scanned the room, assessing everything with a quiet intensity. He wore a black leather outfit, a sleek jacket that hugged his form with a practicality that spoke of someone who valued both protection and maneuverability. His gear was lightweight but well-constructed, clearly built for function over fashion. A bow was slung at his side, its craftsmanship simple but sturdy. A quiver of arrows rested on his back, the fletching of the arrows slightly peeking out. It was clear that the boy, unlike most nobles Ren had met, wasn''t just wearing the equipment for show¡ªhe was ready for action at a moment''s notice. His stance alone exuded the confidence of someone who was comfortable in his own abilities, someone who had mastered his craft. Ren couldn''t help but note that the boy''s presence seemed familiar, but he didn''t dwell on it. He knew that a person''s appearance alone didn''t always reveal their true power, but this boy''s calm composure suggested that he wasn''t to be underestimated. Kai gave a small nod, gesturing to the two new arrivals. "This is Oliver, and that is Selena, your senior." he introduced. As he heard the name Oliver, Ren instantly knew who Oliver was. There was basically no one in the human domain at his age who didn''t know this kid. Oliver gave Ren a polite but almost detached nod, his gaze assessing Ren without seeming too intrusive. "Nice to meet you," he said simply, as he raised his hand for a handshake. Selena, on the other hand, addressed Ren directly with a slight nod. "Who would have thought Gaia would give you an Aura user." She said, as she addressed Kai. "Well, what can I say? The world is full of surprises. Anyways, now that everyone is introduced, how about we begin?" Kai mentioned as Oliver and Ren were left in the room. Selena and Kai moved out of the room. "This will be a simple sparring match, but don''t worry, shields have been cast upon you so any lethal attacks will be blocked. This is a friendly match but that doesn''t mean you shouldn''t give it your all." Selena explained through the intercom.Support the creativity of authors by visiting Royal Road for this novel and more. The 2 opponents stared down at each other, they were currently 15 m away from each other. "Begin." Kai''s voice rang through. ?In the instant the word was spoken, Oliver moved. His hand shot to the quiver at his side, knocking an arrow with a fluid motion that barely registered to Ren''s eyes. Before Ren could even process the movement, the arrow was already speeding toward him. Ren instinctively raised his greatsword, swinging it in a broad arc to intercept the projectile. The tip of his blade collided with the arrow in mid-air, the force of the impact sending a burst of energy through his arms as it deflected off harmlessly to the side. His heart raced. The speed at which Oliver had acted was breathtaking. Ren had barely managed to react, but the shield around him absorbed the force of the arrow, preventing any harm. Oliver didn''t pause. Without missing a beat, he drew another arrow, his expression calm as he prepared for the next shot. Ren''s breath quickened as he assessed his opponent. ?Ren''s mind raced as he calculated his next move. He knew that he couldn''t rely on trying to fight from range with his greatsword¡ªit simply wasn''t the right tool for the job. He needed to close the gap. With a burst of speed, Ren charged forward, closing the distance between himself and Oliver. His sword swung in a wide arc to the side as he moved, hoping to throw off Oliver''s aim. But even as Ren closed in, Oliver''s movements were smooth and precise. He took quick, practiced steps backward, keeping the distance just out of Ren''s reach. With each retreat, Oliver knocked another arrow, his eyes locked onto Ren''s position with unnerving focus. Arrow after arrow whizzed through the air, but Ren''s body was already moving with a rhythm of its own. He dodged and swayed, feeling the wind of each arrow as it passed by, the faintest brush of danger on his skin. His greatsword became an extension of his resolve as he slashed at the arrows mid-flight, his blade cutting through the air with a precise swipe. His movements were beginning to settle into a rhythm, dodging the arrows and swiping them out of the air, but Ren knew he couldn''t afford to stay in this exchange for too long. He needed to get in close, where Oliver''s bow would be useless. Just as he closed in on Oliver, Ren shifted his weight and tried to thrust his greatsword forward, aiming directly for Oliver''s chest. It wasn''t the most elegant move¡ªhis stance was awkward, and the force of the thrust was slightly off balance. But it was an opening, and he hoped it would catch Oliver off guard. Oliver, however, was ready. His eyes narrowed as Ren lunged, and with a swift sidestep, he avoided the thrust entirely. At the same time, Oliver drew another arrow, his hand moving with incredible speed. In one fluid motion, he aimed the bow directly at Ren''s face, his eyes locking onto the target with perfect precision. For a moment, Ren''s breath caught in his chest. The arrow was too close¡ªhe couldn''t dodge in time. It was going to hit. But then, something inside Ren clicked. His senses flared to life, as if a switch had been flipped. His body, previously awkward and unsure, moved with fluid confidence. Without thinking, Ren shifted his weight, breaking free from the ill-positioned thrust. His hand moved instinctively, lifting the greatsword to block the arrow just inches from his face. The force of the impact rattled his arms, but he held firm, his sword deflecting the arrow to the side. At that moment, Ren''s footwork seemed to change entirely. He felt the ground beneath him shift, his body reacting like it had done this a thousand times before. He spun on his heel, his sword coming down in a vertical chop, faster than he had ever moved before. His footwork was impeccable¡ªeach step flowed with purpose, his body aligned perfectly with his sword''s motion. The greatsword moved as though it were a part of him, guided by instincts he hadn''t known he had. Oliver''s eyes widened as he quickly shifted to block, but the force of Ren''s attack was overwhelming. The slash came down with such speed and power that Oliver had to step back, raising his bow to deflect the blow with the flat of the metal. The sheer impact of the strike sent a shudder through both of them, and for the first time, Oliver seemed to hesitate¡ªjust for a moment. Ren''s heart raced. ?Ren''s mind raced as the pressure around his throat intensified, the world beginning to narrow into a hazy tunnel. The tightness of the chokehold made it harder to breathe, and for the first time in the sparring match, Ren felt the oppressive weight of impending defeat. He had been caught off guard, outmaneuvered, and now, it seemed as though he was helpless. The sensation of losing gnawed at him, and his thoughts briefly spiraled into doubt. Was this how it was going to end? Not with a glorious strike, but by being outclassed? For a brief moment, Ren truly felt like he was going to lose. The raw instinct to fight, to push forward, seemed to ebb away as the pressure on his neck suffocated him. But just as the darkness in his vision began to grow, something primal surge deep within him. It wasn''t just his body rebelling against the hold¡ªit was something deeper. Something that tore at the edges of his consciousness. Disgust. Disgust at the thought of being defeated so easily. The thought of losing when he had worked so hard, when he had trained for this very moment, sparked something vicious and raw inside him. His senses flared. His pulse quickened. .. His arms, which had been limp with exhaustion, suddenly felt like steel. His body surged with renewed vigor, pushing against Oliver''s hold. In an instant, Ren shifted his body with the kind of speed and power that seemed to come from nowhere, breaking free of Oliver''s chokehold with a single explosive movement. He threw Oliver off, sending him stumbling backward as Ren''s feet found purchase on the ground, planting him firmly. It was then, in that single moment of clarity, that Ren felt it. The faintest sensation¡ªa presence¡ªthat had always been just out of reach. In the dense air of the training room, charged with Aura, Ren felt it. A pulse. A weight. The very essence of the energy that had eluded him for so long. He felt it as though it were a part of him, something tangible, a force that coursed through the room and around his body. For a fraction of a second, he was completely aware of it¡ªthe dense, almost suffocating aura that filled the space¡ªand that brief awareness was enough. He could sense it now. Ren''s mind raced as the world snapped back into focus. The weight of the aura in the room, the flow of it, the pulse that had seemed distant before now felt closer than ever. The connection he had been desperately trying to form was suddenly there. He could sense the energy inside him, the flow of power, the presence of the Aura around him. And with that awareness, Ren knew one thing. He wasn''t going to lose. Inside the viewing chamber, Selena glanced at Kai, an eyebrow raised in surprise. "You got a battle-based Codex user too," she commented, seeing Ren''s explosive growth during the spar. Kai shrugged nonchalantly, still observing the spar. "Yeah, why do you think I agreed to something as meaningless as a spar? If he improved with just training, I would''ve just locked him up for more training." Selena chuckled lightly, her tone laced with amusement. "Who would have thought, the great HeavenFall having a mentee as a battle maniac." ?"Yeah... I didn''t expect this either," Kai said, ignoring the name given to him by the academy. Both he and Selena kept their eyes on the sparring match. Ren, now able to sense the aura inside of him, moved differently, his motions smoother and more controlled. "Did you teach him aura theory even before he awakened it?" Selena asked, her voice filled with disbelief as she watched Ren, who had just begun to sense aura, somehow apply it to his body. Kai didn''t respond immediately, his focus shifting deeper into the match. His eyes began to shift, the golden gears manifesting inside of them, a sign that he was fully attuned to Ren''s progression. He watched with a quiet curiosity, the gears turning in his mind as he analyzed Ren''s unexpected ability. Back in the arena, Ren, who had only just begun to sense his aura, now seemed to manipulate it effortlessly. His movements became fluid, as if he had already known how to move the energy inside him.If you come across this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it. For the past seven days, Ren had seen the warriors fight in his dreams countless times¡ªthose repeated clashes burned into his memory. Something in him clicked. The way they used their aura, how it flowed and shaped their attacks, how it sharpened their weapons¡ªit was all ingrained in him. He could feel the pull of the energy, guiding his body to instinctively apply it, even though his training was still in its infancy. A part of him already knew how to move the aura. It wasn''t something he had been consciously taught, but something his body had learned through the dreams, the repetition. The connection to his Life Codex was more than just a tool; it was a part of his being now. And with that newfound awareness, Ren''s movements shifted once again. His footwork became more confident, his strikes sharper. The moment he began to focus his aura, everything seemed to click into place. ?Oliver, who had quickly retrieved his bow, flashed a smirk as he somersaulted backward to create some distance between himself and Ren. He landed gracefully, taking a moment to steady his stance. "I guess we''re using aura now," he said, his tone casual, but there was an underlying edge to it. With a focused exhale, Oliver let his aura surge from his body, surrounding him like a visible aura. He applied the energy to his arrow, infusing it with greater speed and power. The moment his aura touched the shaft, the arrow seemed to hum with intensity. He aimed quickly and fired. The arrow flew toward Ren with an incredible velocity, its trajectory nearly impossible to track with the naked eye. But Ren, now aware of his aura, felt the subtle shift in the air¡ªthe pulse of energy surrounding the arrow¡ªand instinctively, his mind processed the information faster than ever before. Ren focused on his legs. He remembered the footwork from the warriors in his dreams¡ªeach step calculated, each movement intentional. His legs powered with aura, enhancing his speed, and Ren moved, almost gliding, as he evaded the oncoming arrow with ease. Thanks to his sharp intelligence, honed over the past several days, Ren was able to calculate the angle and speed of Oliver''s shots almost instantly. His body was now slowly catching up to the rapid pace of his mind, and his dodging was becoming smoother, more fluid. As another arrow flew at him, Ren''s body instinctively shifted, sidestepping with precision. His movements were now synced with his mind, and he could feel the difference¡ªthe added weight and sharpness of the aura coursing through him made his reflexes sharper. With every passing moment, Ren adapted to Oliver''s rapid-fire attacks, keeping up with the barrage of arrows with a calm that only came from experience. His feet moved like the wind, each step executed with the same flawless rhythm he''d seen in his dreams. Even as the air grew thicker with Oliver''s aura-charged arrows, Ren moved faster, his footwork carrying him further away from the danger and giving him just enough time to focus on his next move. ?"Close range it is," Oliver muttered, a hint of excitement in his voice. Without hesitation, he tossed his bow aside and drew two gleaming knives from his jacket. The blades shimmered as they caught the light, coated in a faint, glowing aura that added a dangerous sheen to their already deadly appearance. The moment the knives were in his hands, Oliver moved with unparalleled speed. He closed the gap between them in an instant, his movements fluid, as though he were dancing around Ren. His footwork was impeccable, and his strikes came in fast, unpredictable bursts. The aura coating his daggers seemed to amplify every slash, turning them into lightning-fast cuts that left shallow, burning marks on Ren''s skin wherever they connected. Ren, still adjusting to his newfound ability to sense and use aura, found himself on the defensive. Despite his best efforts to react with his own aura-enhanced footwork, Oliver''s speed was overwhelming. Every time Ren thought he could block or parry, Oliver was already on the move again, his daggers slicing the air with deadly precision. Ren''s body was struggling to keep up. His movements, though faster than before, were still not as swift or sharp as Oliver''s. The flashes of aura around Oliver''s daggers made each attack even more difficult to anticipate, and Ren could feel his strength and stamina waning as he desperately tried to defend himself. The tips of Oliver''s knives repeatedly grazed against Ren''s body, leaving small cuts that stung like fire. Despite his aura, Ren was barely able to avoid being overwhelmed. His footwork, though improved, wasn''t enough to keep up with the fluidity of Oliver''s attacks. Each slash left Ren a step behind, his own strikes too slow and too predictable in comparison. His aura was being pushed to its limits as he struggled to dodge, block, and counterattack. He could feel his body growing tired from the constant barrage, and his mind was racing to calculate the next move. But each time he tried to retaliate, Oliver was already a step ahead, his body a blur of motion as he continued his relentless assault. Ren''s breath came heavier now, his muscles burning from the effort, yet he couldn''t afford to stop. The aura was there, but it was as if the gap between his ability to sense it and truly control it was just out of reach. His body moved instinctively, trying to keep up with the flow of energy, but Oliver''s pace only grew faster. ?Ren''s greatsword, though powerful, was proving to be a challenge in close-quarters combat. The blade was simply too large for the fluid, rapid movements required in this fast-paced duel. Every swing felt cumbersome, and the weight of the sword made it difficult to adjust his posture or angle quickly enough to counter Oliver''s swift strikes. The sheer size of the weapon limited his options, forcing him to rely more on brute strength rather than precision or agility, and that was leaving him vulnerable to Oliver''s quicker, more calculated attacks. ... His body, strained and pushed to its limits, seemed to respond to a deeper, almost primal pull. Despite the overwhelming odds, there was a sense that this struggle wasn''t the end¡ªit was just the beginning. A feeling that he was on the brink of something far more powerful than just his own strength. The Life Codex inside him, the mysterious force that had awakened his potential, pulsed like a heartbeat deep within his chest. This Codex, embedded in his very DNA, had begun to change him in ways he couldn''t fully understand yet. Life Codexes weren''t merely relics or magical artifacts¡ªthey were living, breathing parts of their users. Passed down through bloodlines, these Codexes had shaped the course of human history. They granted their users passive enhancements, amplifying physical attributes like strength, agility, and stamina, and honing their natural talents in ways that set them apart from the rest. A Life Codex could transform a person into a master of their craft, whether it was in combat, healing, or even more obscure skills. But the true power of a Codex lay in its Active abilities¡ªAspects. These skills were manifestations of the Codex''s energy, drawing upon the deep well of power stored within its user. Each Codex granted the user Aspects, an ability that could change the course of a battle, enhance a skill, or even alter the very fabric of reality itself. These Aspects ranged from elemental manipulation to heightened senses, from time manipulation to impenetrable defense. They were the weapons of the gods, and their users were revered as nearly invincible. Ren''s first Aspect, the one that had resonated with him so strongly, was Aura Zone. It was a technique that could neutralize the aura of anyone within its vicinity, creating a space where opponents'' abilities would be rendered useless. The warrior from his dreams had used this power with terrifying precision, and now, Ren felt it stirring within him¡ªwaiting for the right moment to emerge. He could feel it in his bones, the potential just there. ?Just as Ren''s body began to give out under the relentless pressure, something within him ignited. A deep, primal instinct surged from the core of his being, driving him to push past his limits. For a brief moment, his senses sharpened, and his connection to the Life Codex flared. Without fully understanding what was happening, Ren''s voice, cold and unwavering, escaped his lips: "Aura Zone." In that instant, a sphere of one meter in diameter appeared around him, a sharp, almost tangible presence. The very air seemed to thicken as the Aura Zone activated, its oppressive power immediately distorting the space around it. The effect was immediate. As soon as the zone expanded, Oliver, who had been moving with effortless speed just moments before, suddenly felt the weight of his own aura vanish. His strength, his agility¡ªeverything he had been relying on¡ªdisappeared. The aura that usually surged through his body, propelling his every movement, was now nothing more than a hollow, distant presence. The room, once vibrant with the swirling energy of both warriors, seemed to recoil from the sphere. It was as though the very air itself feared the existence of the Aura Zone. The aura within the chamber seemed to pull away, avoiding the sphere like the plague. It was a forbidden space, one that even the aura-filled air couldn''t penetrate. Oliver, now trapped inside the zone, felt a wave of debilitating fatigue hit him like a hammer. The strength that had fueled his speed, the precision he relied on, evaporated in an instant. His body grew heavy, his movements sluggish. He staggered, desperately trying to move, but it was as though the very essence of his power had been drained. His breathing became shallow, and his limbs felt weak. At that exact moment, Ren, still within his own Aura, felt an overwhelming clarity. Did you know this story is from Royal Road? Read the official version for free and support the author. His senses exploded with heightened perception, and he saw everything in slow motion. Without thinking, he swung his greatsword with everything he had, the heavy blade slicing through the air in a massive arc. It moved as if guided by the will of something beyond him. The greatsword, coated in Ren''s own aura, seemed to hum with power as it descended toward Oliver. There was no hesitation, no mercy. It was a strike fueled by pure instinct, the culmination of everything Ren had been through in that brief, but intense moment. The blade came down with a force that would have cleaved through stone, aimed right at Oliver''s face. Time seemed to slow for Ren, as the weight of his action, and the newfound power of his Aura Zone, overtook him. His aura flowed freely, unimpeded within the zone, while Oliver was helpless against its suffocating effects. ?In the viewing room, Selena stood frozen, her eyes wide with shock as she watched the unfolding scene on the screen. She had seen many battles in her time, so she knew that people had their own trump cards¡but this? The moment Ren''s Aura Zone activated, the entire room seemed to recoil from the sphere. Oliver had been inside the zone, and with his aura completely drained, his body had been struck with a wave of debilitating fatigue. The arrow of energy he''d been riding on had vanished, and despite his training, he couldn''t keep up. The greatsword had descended like a storm, and though Oliver hadn''t been killed, the sheer force of the attack combined with the sudden drain on his aura had knocked him out cold. His body went limp, collapsing to the floor. Ren, on the other hand, had exhausted every ounce of his own aura in that single moment. The fight had drained him completely. His body, battered and pushed to its limits, gave out as well, and he collapsed next to Oliver, unconscious from the overwhelming strain. Selena''s mouth went dry. "What type of overpowered ability is that?" she muttered under her breath, struggling to process what had just happened. Kai, who had been observing with quiet interest, finally spoke up. "That''s the power of a Life Codex. The fact that his first aspect is this strong¡ It''s rare. Usually, when someone unlocks their first aspect, it''s powerful¡ªbut not to this degree." Selena turned to Kai in disbelief. "But even for a Life Codex user, this is absurd! Aspects tend to give a significant boost to the user''s ability, but to create something this drastic? To take away someone''s aura entirely in a single move¡ªthis isn''t supposed to happen." Kai nodded slowly, his golden gears still shimmering in his eyes. "Exactly. His Aura Zone isn''t just a simple ability to enhance his combat or defense¡ªit''s a suppression field. For the first aspect to be this strong, it means his Life Codex is inherently powerful. This kid is going to be a real problem for anyone who underestimates him." Selena crossed her arms, still processing the situation. "This wasn''t just a little burst of power¡ he completely shut down Oliver in an instant. Even if Oliver wasn''t completely outclassed in this fight, he would''ve still struggled to overcome that kind of power." ... ?As Ren''s body lay unconscious, his mind once again slipped into the world of dreams. But this time, it wasn''t the same nightmare he had experienced before. No, this time, the vision stretched onward, continuing the story that had haunted him in his slumber. He found himself watching, as he had many times before, the battle between the warrior with the long sword and his defeated opponent. But this time, the end wasn''t as it had been. The warrior with the long sword didn''t pause at the enemy''s defeat. No, this time, he went further. With a swift and brutal motion, the long sword cleaved the body of his opponent in half, cutting through flesh and bone without hesitation. Ren''s heart raced in the dream as the grotesque, unrelenting power of the strike filled the air with a chilling finality. But it didn''t stop there. ...
