《Reborn in another world with a glass of water》
1. Prologue
I died. Well, I¡¯m pretty sure that I did. It all happened in a flash. I know that I saw a small dog on the road. I don¡¯t know what he was doing there, but I knew that it wasn¡¯t a place for him. At first I tried calling him, but he wouldn¡¯t react. A stupid beast just sat there, looking at me with indifferent eyes.
If I left him alone at that moment, I would probably be still alive, but I couldn¡¯t. Don¡¯t get me wrong, it was a matter of honor. Even if it was just a dumb dog, I felt the need to help him. As I was reaching with my hands to grab him, a big truck appeared out of nowhere. I threw him away, and I saved the dog, but I didn¡¯t save myself.
Ehh.
What can I say? I¡¯m a hero.
But now, another problem appeared. I¡¯m pretty sure that after you die, you aren¡¯t supposed to hear anything. Well, now I was.
¡°W-What is that?¡±I heard a voice of a girl. For some reason she sounded, like she was holding back her laughter.
¡°I c-can¡¯t... hahaha!¡±
I slowly opened my eyes. My head still hurt, after getting hit by this truck. But if I felt pain, did it mean that I was still alive?
¡°O-Oh, you are awake? I¡¯m s-sorry¡¡±
When I looked around, I saw a young girl before me, with long blonde hair, big, blue eyes, and cute face. She was wearing only a white robe, that covered most of her well-developed body. We were both, in a big, white room, sitting on two, wooden chairs. There wasn¡¯t anything else in the room. Only both of us.
In her hand she had some papers, that she was reading now. It seemed, that for some reason they were making her laugh.
¡°Ugh¡ W-Where am I?¡± I asked, and grabbed my head. I still felt pain.
The girl just looked at me, and after that at the papers. She repeated this action for a few times, and then she started speaking.
¡°You are in heaven¡ Ryan Smith, isn¡¯t it?¡±
Ryan Smith? Yeah, that¡¯s my name, but wait. In heaven? It must be a bad joke. I was hit by a truck, but I still feel pain¡
¡°Is this some kind of joke?¡±
¡°Who do you think you are talking to? This is your reality.¡± she responded, and after that looked at me ¡°Hit by a truck, at the age of seventeen years. Never had a girlfriend, never kissed a girl, never even touched a girl. There is no mistake, you are¡¡± she couldn¡¯t finish. Instead, she bursted out with laughter.
¡°Wait, how do you know that?! No, it¡¯s not that! I don¡¯t need to listen to this.¡± I tried to pull myself from the chair, but I couldn¡¯t. It felt, as if I was glued to it.
¡°Do you not understand? You are in heaven now, and you can¡¯t leave this place, as long as I won¡¯t allow it.¡±
Is this the truth? Have I really died? No, it can¡¯t be true. It must be some stupid joke.
¡°Listen to me Ryan. You are to be reborn in the new world. Don¡¯t ask me for details, I have been working here only for a few days.¡±
Wait? Reborn? What is she talking about.
¡°It seems, that some fantasy world has a problem with demon king. You know the deal. You go there, get rid of him, and then live your life in peace. Do I need to explain it?¡± Unauthorized usage: this narrative is on Amazon without the author''s consent. Report any sightings.
¡°You do! Is this some kind of joke! It¡¯s not funny!¡± I shouted immediately, after she stopped talking.
After that she looked at me, and at the papers she had with her.
¡°At the age of thirteen, made a song for a girl in his class. For the rest of the year was called a ¡°disgusting Ryan¡±. At the age of fifteen got some money from his mother. Bought anime figurines for it, making his mother feel disgust she has never felt before. At the age of¡¡±
¡°Wait! Wait, I believe you!¡± I stopped her, from making me suffer anymore.
¡°Well, now that you believe me, you will be transported to a new world, to fight with a demon king...¡±
¡°Wait! Wait a moment!¡± I stopped her once again. This time she looked annoyed.
¡°What? Do you still have problems?¡±
¡°It must be a mistake. I can¡¯t fight demon king. I¡¯m just a normal teenager, there is nothing I can do to him!¡± I said.
When I did, she looked at her papers once more. After that she looked at me.
¡°Ryan Smith. Seventeen years old. Meter and seventy centimeters tall. Short, brown hair, and big green eyes. Likes staying at home, and playing games. Dislikes talking with people, and talking with people. Wants to be a NEET in the future. Fairly thin, without any motivation for anything. I think it fits you perfectly.¡±
¡°No, it¡¯s not that. What can I do to a demon king! It must be a mistake.¡± when I said that, she showed me one of the papers in her hand. It had a yellow seal on it.
¡°You see? "Ryan Smith" and today''s date. Anyway, there is nothing I can do, this one is from above.¡±
No. It can¡¯t be happening. If it¡¯s not a joke, then it must be a bad dream. Me fighting a demon king? I can¡¯t do it. I¡¯m sure it¡¯s just a bad dream.
¡°So, are you ready? Or do you want something?¡± she asked, while looking at me.
I felt bad. My head still hurt, and I didn¡¯t know what was happening. As I thought about what she said, I noticed that I was a little thirsty.
¡°Could I have a glass of water?¡± I replied, and she looked at me surprised.
¡°Y-Yeah, if this is what you want. Who am I to judge?¡± she said something weird, and then she shouted ¡°Could someone give us a glass of water?!¡±
Maybe a minute later, an older man entered the room. I don¡¯t know how he did it, because I didn¡¯t see any doors anywhere. In his hand he had a glass of water, but there was something weird about his clothes. They were red, and with his white beard, he looked like¡
¡°Santa Claus?!¡± I shouted, and he smiled at me.
¡°Ho Ho Ho, if it isn¡¯t a little Ryan?¡±
¡°B-But how? I thought that you don¡¯t exist.¡± I asked, and he handed me the water.
¡°I do exist, Ho Ho Ho.¡±
I looked at him. He had a big belly, and white beard. Just as I imagined him, but there was one thing I wanted to ask him. I he really exists, then why¡
¡°Why I didn¡¯t get any presents?¡±
When I said this, Santa smiled at me warmly.
¡°That¡¯s because your parents are poor.¡±
Go figure.
¡°It¡¯s good that you are here. Look at that. Here, in this place.¡± this girl said to him, and pointed at something in the papers. When Santa looked at them, he grabbed his chin.
¡°Ho Ho Ho. Ho Ho Ho! Hohohoh! Hahahaha!¡± he was laughing! But why?! What did she show him?
¡°Hey! What are you laughing at?! I asked, and the girl looked at me.
¡°At how you died, you moron! Hahahah!¡±
What?! I can understand laughing at my life. I can understand laughing at all those things I have done. But laughing at how I died? I have saved a living creature. I have saved someone, from death, and they are laughing at me?!
¡°Why are you laughing?! Because I died saving a dog? His life doesn¡¯t matter?¡± I said those things with anger. Who do they think they are? This dog is living now because of me.
¡°N-No, you didn¡¯t understand me. It was a really brave thing to do. But you see, when you grabbed him, and threw him away¡ You threw him under another truck¡ Hahahah!¡±
Wait, what? The dog died? Wait!
They both looked at me like at an idiot. After that the girl started speaking.
¡°O-Okay, okay that¡¯s all. I can¡¯t laugh anymore. Let¡¯s just be done with it. Ryan - reborn in another world. His last wish¡¡±
A wish? I knew that I wasn¡¯t going to fight empty handed. I was so stupid. They wouldn¡¯t send me there like that. It must be like in one of those novels, where they give me a super power, or weapon.
Now I only need to say, what I want.
¡°H-His wish¡ His wish was a glass of water.¡±
What?
1.5. Small mistake
I looked at the girl beside me. She was sitting on a wooden chair, and to tell you the truth, she looked nice. Long, blonde hair, cute face, and this body. Hmmm, what would I do to this¡
¡°Santa, where are you looking at?¡± she said, and looked at me with disgust.
¡°Ho Ho Ho, I¡¯m sorry m¡¯lady. Ho Ho Ho.¡± she¡¯s sharp. I need to be more careful.
¡°Anyway, this Ryan Smith. It must be a joke. Did you look at him? It can¡¯t be a person, that will save the world.¡± she said, and leaned back on the chair leisurely ¡°Well, I¡¯m sure it¡¯s not a mistake. He can¡¯t make mistakes.¡±
Yeah, ¡°he¡± can¡¯t make mistakes. Anyway, I can see your¡
¡°Do it one more time, and I will kill you.¡±
Shit.
¡°Anyway, I worked here only for a few days. Who knows what plans he has. By the way, did you see that? This boy asked for a glass of water. Hahahah!¡± she laughed, and then looked at me ¡°He must be an idiot, or something.¡±
I think that you are mistaken, but I won¡¯t say anything.
After this boy, we will have only one person today. I really don¡¯t want to anger her, because after our shift is over, we might go for a drink.
¡°Ok, next one please!¡± the girl shouted, and another person appeared in this white room. Enjoying this book? Seek out the original to ensure the author gets credit.
A young man, maybe twenty years old. He looked like a young god, with his muscles visible from behind the white shirt. His short, dark hair was sexy, and highlighted his manly jaw. And those bones, oh man.
Is he a well known actor, or something?
¡°H-Hello. J-Just let me look at the documents¡ I-It looks like you saved twenty people in the fire!¡±
Why do you sound so excited?! Because he looks good?
¡°Yeah, it seems I did. But don¡¯t take those words in a wrong way, I have done, what I needed to.¡±
His voice. His voice is so good. Who the hell is he?
¡°Y-Yeaaah. And those abs¡ I mean intelligence of yours. It seems that you got one hundred and sixty points in an IQ test?¡± the girl asked, and looked at him coquettishly.
¡°Oh, it was just a test.¡±
This man. He should just die! Wait a moment. Isn¡¯t he dead already?
¡°Yeah, let me just look at your name¡ Ryan Smith, is it?¡±
Wait... Ryan Smith? If I¡¯m not mistaken¡
¡°Yeah, that¡¯s my name.¡±
Wait, wait, wait! Ryan Smith? Isn¡¯t this the name of that boy? I looked at the girl. It seemed, that even she finally understood it.
¡°Wait! W-Wait! It must be a mistake! There was a yellow seal on those documents! I couldn¡¯t make a mistake!¡± she shouted, and started looking at the papers in her hands.
After that she looked at me with terror, as if she found something.
¡°Destroy them.¡±
Wait, what? What!?
¡°Why are you looking at me like that? Destroy them!¡± this time she said it with more power.
No, even if you say this. I can¡¯t do something like that!! I¡¯m a saint!
¡°Won¡¯t you do this for me, Santa?¡± this time, she changed her tactic, as she looked at me with watery eyes.
Ehhh.
What can I say?
¡°Ho Ho Ho. I will destroy them in no time.¡±
Sorry boy, you are on your own now.
2. My stats are... Interesting?
¡°What happened?¡± I asked myself.
I was in a city. Not in a normal city. Where once were cars, there were now horses. Where once people in suits were walking, now were folks in medieval clothes. I looked around, and among normal humans, there were not so normal ones. Elves, demihumans, dwarves and many different races.
They walked in the sunshine, minding their own business.
What is this? I thought it was a dream, or a stupid joke. It can¡¯t be happening!
As I looked down, I saw that I was still wearing my grey t-shirt, and jeans. Thank god that I¡¯m not naked. Other than that, I had nothing. Well, not including a glass of water in my right hand. I looked at it, and after that I looked around.
It was warm, and the roads were full. People were smiling as they walked under the sun. Some of them talked, and I could understand every word.
¡°W-Whoa...¡± I said quietly to myself, not to make a scene. I always wanted to see a place like this.
It was all true. I¡¯m now in the new world. I died, and I was reborn. And now I have to fight a demon king, with a glass of water.
Wait, I have to fight a demon king, with a glass of water? How in the hell am I supposed to...
No! Maybe this glass is magical after all? It must have been a joke.
I took the glass, and raised it to my eyes, making sure that I don¡¯t spill even one drop of the liquid inside of it. It can¡¯t be water. It must be something else. Maybe it¡¯s a potion?!
Yeah, a potion! It will make me strong. I looked at the glass. It was normal, without anything on it. Just a normal glass. Then I looked at the liquid inside. It must be a potion, or something that will make me stronger.
That¡¯s what I thought, but when I took a better glance at it, I realised it was just a water.
¡°It can¡¯t be water¡¡± I said, and took a sip. After that I took another one, and then another one. I was a little thirsty, so I drank everything.
It was water.
No, I can¡¯t be negative now. It might be a potion, that takes time to activate. Yeah! Now I will only wait, and the potion¡
Who am I kidding?! I was cheated! Where is my special ability! Where is my super weapon! Why was even Santa Claus there!? What is this place, where am I now!
I grabbed the glass stronger, thinking about throwing it at the ground, but I decided not too. Who knows, maybe it will become useful.
Once again I looked around. This city looked like something from a fantasy game. It didn¡¯t look like a medieval one, with all the dirt, and filth, but it was rather nice. Buildings were high, made of wood and colorful. There were many small rivers, flowing through it, and because of that there were also many small bridges.
People were wearing nice, and light clothes, because of the warmth. I even saw some of them wearing armors, and wizard clothing.
Ahh, so this is it? This is my new fantasy life? Fighting with demon king, to free this land?
I could give only one answer.
¡°I¡¯m not doing this.¡± I said, and started walking.
I don¡¯t know where I am, but I know that I need a place to stay. I will just live the rest of my life, working in a shitty job, trying to survive. I don¡¯t care. I don¡¯t care about the demon king, and I don¡¯t care about anything.
It¡¯s all because of that stupid dog! ¡°Oh, I will stand there, not listening to you, hehe¡±. I should have left him to die. And now, what? What good comes from helping others? ¡°Oh, look at me, I¡¯m a dog and I can¡¯t even speak human language. Oh, you died because of me? Too bad.¡±.
Man, I hate dogs now.
¡°Free test for an adventurer! See if you can do the job!¡± I heard a girl¡¯s voice, as I was walking through the city.
When I looked at her I noticed few things. She looked nice, and cute. A little smaller than me, and with nice body. Her medium length, black hair, highlighted her big green eyes, and small lips. She was wearing an apron, and a green dress, that was reaching to her knees. Yeah, she looked cute, and all, but there was one problem.
Dog ears.
¡°C-Customer, is there a problem? You seem to be glaring at me?¡± she finally said, with a little scared look.
I didn¡¯t really listen to her words. I just looked at her, and then I looked behind her. She was standing in front of a big, wooden building. It had a beautiful, blue roof, and big door leading to the inside. On the top of it, there was a sing. A big sign, with a sword, and a staff on it. Stolen content warning: this content belongs on Royal Road. Report any occurrences.
¡°What is this about?¡± I asked, still thinking about the dog, that brought me to this situation.
¡°T-There is no reason to be so angry customer. Anyway, I¡¯m talking about a test for adventurer. If you want, you can go inside, and look for yourself.¡± she said and smiled.
Is this a trap?
You think I will just go there, and do the test? What is next? Killing a goblin, after that a dragon, and everything will end with a demon king? I¡¯m not doing this. I¡¯m sure, that I¡¯m not doing this.
I¡¯m not going to risk my life. It¡¯s not even a risk. It¡¯s a suicide!
¡°I don¡¯t need things like this.¡± I just replied.
I need to get out from there. It¡¯s a trap, designed to lure me in. They think that I will go on an adventure now? I need to just turn around, and...
¡°Ehhh, okay¡ By the way customer, why are you carrying this glass everywhere?¡±
I looked at her, and something snapped in me.
¡°You think I wanted this glass? You think I cared about this dog?! Why did they even gave me a glass? I didn¡¯t want a glass! And what¡¯s with that water? Couldn¡¯t they just give me some water, without cheating me?¡± I started speaking, and everyone around me started looking at me.
¡°I understand customer. You must be a very sad person.¡± she just replied, and smiled.
What? What did she say?!
¡°Okay! I will go inside! But don¡¯t think even for a moment, that I will help you. Don¡¯t think that I will deal with demon king. I¡¯m not a hero, and I¡¯m not strong. I will just look around, and after that I¡¯m gone.¡± I said, and passed her.
¡°Good luck customer.¡± I heard behind me, and then I opened the door.
When I walked inside, I was greeted by a nice atmosphere. People of many races, were sitting at many tables, talking and laughing. They were wearing many kinds of gear, from bows, and swords to staffs and daggers. Some of them in light clothing, and some of them in thicker one.
As I looked around, I noticed that the place was beautiful. It looked like something from a game, or a painting. Like an inn, but more colorful, and with many decorations. The room was big, but I quickly noticed that the girl behind the counter was staring at me.
She was a normal human, wearing the same kind of clothes like the girl outside. Her long, blonde hair was made into a ponytail, and she was smiling at me. She looked young, maybe twenty years old, and she was about my height.
¡°Is there something I can help you with?¡± she asked, when I approached her. Her smile was nice, and her body too. Is everyone in this world good looking?
I know it¡¯s a fantasy world, but it doesn¡¯t seem normal.
¡°What is this place?¡± I asked, and she responded immediately.
¡°It¡¯s an adventurer¡¯s guild. In here you can rest, get a quest or eat something.¡±
Ahh, I understand. Now it¡¯s obvious why people here are wearing clothes like this. Anyway, I won¡¯t be cheated again. There is no reason for me to lose my life again. I won¡¯t fight with the demon king.
¡°By the way customer. It seems that it is your first time here. Maybe you would want to do a test?¡± she asked, and looked at me.
A test? I won¡¯t fight with the demon king, but I can hear her out. Maybe it¡¯s something interesting, who knows. Or maybe I have a hidden power? This might be the case.
¡°What test?¡±
¡°Oh, the test is simple. You just need to write your name on this sheet of paper. Ooo¡ at this place.¡± she said, and pointed at a rectangle drawn on the paper ¡°After that, the magical paper will show your skills, and stats. It¡¯s really easy.¡± she responded, as always with a smile.
It¡¯s that easy? I thought that it might be some combat test, where I need to fight. But something like this isn¡¯t half bad. I always wanted to see, how talented I was. I¡¯m sure my stats are high. Especially intelligence.
¡°But it¡¯s free, isn¡¯t it? There is no catch? You aren¡¯t going to cheat me?¡±
¡°Of course. So, do you want to start?¡± she asked, and handed me the paper with a pen.
Well, let¡¯s see. I slowly signed it with my name. Then, as if by magic, letters started appearing on it.
| Intelligence |
5/10 |
| Strength |
3/10 |
| Dexterity |
4/10 |
| Luck |
0/10 |
| ~~~~ You don''t possess any skills ~~~~ |
Wait, what? What is that? Why are those stats so low? Why I don¡¯t have any skills? I didn¡¯t¡
I looked at the girl behind the counter. She was trying not to laugh, with her hands on her mouth. When she saw, that I was looking at her, she quickly regained composure.
¡°I-I¡¯m sorry customer. It s-seems that you don¡¯t have any skills¡¡± she took a deep breath ¡°I don¡¯t think, a-anything like this has ever happened before.¡±
Why are you laughing at me?! Is this that bad?! Why are even those stats that low?! Isn¡¯t this some kind of mistake? This must be a mistake!
¡°Y-You might not be able, to be an adventurer.¡± she started speaking, and after that, she immediately laughed. It wasn¡¯t a small snicker, but a loud laughter.
¡°What is so funny?!¡± I asked angrily, and she looked at me with watery eyes.
¡°No one¡ No one before, had ¡°skills¡± like you¡ hahahah¡ You can¡¯t even cook, who are you?! And what is the matter with this glass?! I didn¡¯t ask before, but¡¡± she didn¡¯t end her sentence, and started laughing once more.
It seemed that people in this place were looking at us.
I didn¡¯t need to listen to this. I didn¡¯t need to listen to any of this.
As I turned around, she called me.
¡°I¡¯m sorry! I¡¯m sorry! There is no need to go. I have a way for you to change this!¡± she said, and I looked at her.
A way to change this? What was she talking about?
When she was sure, that she picked my interest, she grabbed a pink bottle from from the counter. It had a weird shape, and the liquid in it was fizzy.
¡°What is that?¡± I asked, and she smiled.
¡°It¡¯s an experience potion.¡±
3. A girl I met, but its hard to even call it a meeting
One, two, three. One, two, three. One, two, three, make it clean. Wipe the floor, wipe the tables, clean everything.
¡°Ryan, are you done there?¡± the girl with a blonde ponytail asked.
¡°Yes ma''am!¡± I responded with a smile.
Ahh, work is great. Everyone should work. If you don¡¯t work, then you don¡¯t know life. If I could do only one thing, for the rest of my life, then it would be working. Would you believe me, if I told you, that I once wanted to be a NEET? Hahaha, funny times. But now? Now I know the value of work. Everyone should work.
Ahh¡
I wanna die.
¡°Ryan! You didn¡¯t clean this table good enough!¡± the girl with dog ears shouted.
Ahh, dog ears. They are so beautiful. I love dogs. Everyone should have a dog. They are good, kind, and faithful. When you see a dog, you want to cuddle him. But do you know why I love dogs so much? Because they are smart! They always know what you want from them! Always!
¡°T-There is no reason to glare at me so much¡ I w-will clean it myself.¡±
One hundred golden coins. This is the amount of money I need, for the potion. How much do I have now? Hmmm, it would be around half of a coin. Do you know what you can buy for that? A glass. Yeah, I sold it.
What? I¡¯m angry? No! Of course I¡¯m not angry. My soul is now like a beautiful song, and I¡¯m its composer.
¡°Why is he smiling so much? It¡¯s creepy.¡± one of the customers said, as he looked at me.
He was wearing a thick, silver armor that covered his whole body. Sitting on a wooden chair, before him there was a bowl of warm soup on the table. Under it, he had his big, two-handed sword.
¡°Is there a problem customer? Is your soup too warm? Do you want me to blow on it, to cool it down?¡± I asked him, and he moved away a little.
¡°F-Forget I have said anything. I¡¯m so sorry.¡±
Ah, work is great. Why have I never worked before? I want to clean something.
I looked around. The place was packed, and people were talking, and smiling. Even if it was night now, it was still bright because magical lamps illuminated it.
How much time passed, since I started working here?
Five hours.
¡°Ryan! Leave this place to us. I want you to go somewhere!¡± once again, I heard the voice of a girl with blonde hair.
Her name is Eri, but she wants me to call her ma¡¯am. Well, it¡¯s not like I can refuse her.
¡°Of course ma¡¯am. Everything you want.¡± I responded, and she handed me an envelope.
¡°It¡¯s a message for my friend. She lives in the city too.¡° she said, and then looked at the other girl, that had dog¡¯s ears ¡°Mika could go with you, but we have too many customers now. You understand, don¡¯t you?¡±
I looked at the girl she was talking about. She was young, cute, and with dog¡¯s ears. Everyone here loved here, especially men. Well, this girl was now looking at me with terror.
¡°Yeah, I understand.¡± I said, and Mika sighed.
¡°I knew you would understand Ryan. It¡¯s so good to have a slave... a worker like you!¡±
What? What was that?
¡°Anyway, here. Take this, and turn right after leaving through the door. After twenty minutes of walking, you should find a bakery. I don¡¯t think you will miss it, it¡¯s big, and it has a large sign saying ¡°Best Sweets In Flark¡± on it.¡± Eri said, and smiled. ¡°Do you understand?¡±
Well, it doesn¡¯t seem like something bothersome to do. You could be reading stolen content. Head to Royal Road for the genuine story.
¡°Yeah I do.¡± I just replied.
¡°It¡¯s really great to have a¡ worker like you. Anyway, you should hurry up. It¡¯s getting late, and I don¡¯t know how long her shop is open.¡± she said, while looking at the window ¡°What are you waiting for? Go! I will need you here, as fast as possible hahaha.¡±
Why are you even laughing? Eh, I need to take care of this as fast as possible.
¡°I¡¯ll be back, as fast as I can.¡± I said, and turned around.
When I approached the door, and opened it, a chilly wind has blowed at me. It wasn¡¯t freezing on the outside at all, but it wasn¡¯t as warm as in here.
¡°Good luck Ryan!¡± I just heard a voice, of a girl behind me, and then I went out.
The night was young, that¡¯s why it wasn¡¯t that dark. I could see the city clearly, and it looked as beautiful as before. When I looked at the windows of the houses, I noticed that the rooms behind them were lit with a warm light.
¡°Ma¡¯am...¡± I said to myself, and then I put the envelope in the pocket of my jeans, as I turned right.
I hate working. I don¡¯t want to work. Yeah, I don¡¯t want to work, and I don¡¯t want to fight with a demon king. But those stats are too low! I just wanted to take a test, to see how talented I am. And now?!
I don¡¯t even have one skill. What is that!? I must be skilled in something! I can¡¯t accept it! I can¡¯t accept it.
Yeah, maybe fighting with demons is too scary. But drinking one potion? Even a baby can do that. I will get some money, and then I will buy one. Just a one potion, to change those miserable stats of mine.
¡°Ahh¡¡± I sighed, and then I looked around.
The city was gorgeous, with those colorful, wooden buildings, and big lamps. From time to time, I would see a person or two. Most of them were just drunk, probably going to their homes.
It was still difficult for me to accept, that this was another world. Everyone was speaking in a language I could understand. They used the same letters, and even words.
And now I needed to save this world.
Of course I¡¯m not doing this. I hate to say this, but I don¡¯t care about the demon king. I don¡¯t even know him. He has never done anything bad to me, and it doesn¡¯t seem like this world suffers from his existence that much.
I don¡¯t care, and I¡¯m not going to die for something like that. I¡¯m sure of that. Even if the whole heaven is cheering for me right now, I won¡¯t do it. Even if I was reborn to do that.
As I thought about this, a young girl¡¯s voice escaped from one of the small alleys.
¡°Has fate brought us together?¡± it said to me slowly.
What is that? Who said it? I looked into the direction, from which I heard her. When I did, I saw a young, petite girl, with shoulder-length, silver hair, and big, purple eyes. Her face was cute, because of her small nose, and lips.
She was wearing a light pink skirt, and a white shirt, with a unfastened, navy blue coat on it. On her head, she had a pointy, wizard¡¯s hat, in the same color as her coat, and in her hands she was holding a wooden staff.
Yeah, she looked nice. Almost like a mage or something, but there was one problem. She was standing near a trashcan at night, saying really weird things. I you have ever played any RPG, then you know that a person like this must be someone that will drag you into an adventure.
If she is a person like this, then there is only one thing that I can do.
¡°Hey! Why are you running away!¡± she shouted with a cute voice, as she ran after me.
What does she want from me?!
¡°Is this about money? Are your friends waiting in the shadows to attack me? I¡¯m sorry to say this, but I don¡¯t have anything on me, and even if I did I wouldn¡¯t give you anything.¡± I said, and I looked at her, while still running.
She was smaller than me, so she was slower, but for some reason she was still going after me.
¡°It¡¯s nothing like that! What are you even talking about?!"
¡°Your sweet words won¡¯t fool me!¡± I replied, without slowing down.
I don¡¯t know her. Who knows what she is after. Maybe she wants to steal from me? Or maybe... Maybe she is after my body?!
¡°I just wanted to talk with you! I saw you at the guild. My name is¡¡±
Oh no! I don¡¯t want to know your name. I don¡¯t want to see you!
As I thought about those things, I felt an adrenaline rush. My legs moved faster, and my body felt a lot lighter. I didn¡¯t even heard her last words - I was that fast.
I ran for another two minutes. I knew that she wasn¡¯t able to catch me, but I wanted to make sure that I won¡¯t need to deal with her anymore. When I finally stopped, I looked back to see if I could see her.
Thankfully, I couldn¡¯t.
¡°W-What was t-that.¡± I said, while breathing faster. I was exhausted, and it was hard for me to even stand. For someone like me, even the smallest physical exercise is dangerous.
Girls are scary. I don¡¯t even know her. Who stands near a trashcan at night, while saying things like this! She must be a nutjob! Thank God I have lost her.
¡°I d-don¡¯t want to move anymore¡¡± I said, still feeling the consequences of running so fast.
The envelope?! Did I lost it?
I touched the pocket of my jeans. It was still there. It¡¯s good, I wouldn¡¯t want to come back, to look for it.
Now I only need to find this building. I don¡¯t know for how much I have been running, and I don¡¯t even know if I passed the place I was supposed to go to. It¡¯s not like it¡¯s my fault, I was running for my life!
Well, I can say that, but finding this place might now take me some¡
¡°Best Sweets In Flark¡± I read the sign of a building, that was standing near me. It seems that my luck isn¡¯t as bad, as I thought it was.
4. Wont someone save me please?
It must be this place. Can¡¯t imagine having two places with a sign ¡°Best sweets in Flark¡± in one city. By the way, what ¡°Flark¡± even is? Is this the name of this city? If it is, then it¡¯s a stupid one.
I looked at the place. It seemed nice, with two big windows, through which you could see the inside of a well lit shop, and a single wooden door. The building was big, but it was a lot smaller than the guild.
Well, there was no time to waste. Every second I stay outside, every second this girl gets to catch me. That¡¯s why I quickly knocked on the door, and when the voice of an old woman from inside said ¡°It¡¯s open¡±, I went inside.
What I saw there¡ Well, I can believe now, that this place has best sweets in Flark. As I looked around, watching the cakes, croissants, chocolate buns, and other desserts, I was greeted by a small, and old lady.
¡°I was about to close, but it seems that you will be my last customer for today.¡± she said, and smiled.
She was standing behind the counter, in an apron, and an old, white dress with red dots. I don¡¯t know how old she was, but she looked like a sixty years old woman, with a fairly gray hair made into a bun, and a face full of wrinkles.
I didn¡¯t respond immediately, because I was looking at the things she was selling. The only thing I have had in this world, was an old soup and a glass of water. A glass of water is obvious, and the soup was given to me by Eri. Can¡¯t say it was the best thing I have ever eaten.
¡°Ah, don¡¯t worry about that. I don¡¯t have any money.¡± I responded after some time.
¡°Oh? You don¡¯t have any money?¡± she said, as she looked at me with colder eyes ¡°Then could you get out?¡±
Whoa. Can¡¯t anyone be kind to me in this world?
¡°Ah, it¡¯s not like that. I¡¯m here to give you this.¡± I said, as I took the envelope from my pocket. When I handed it to her, her expression became even worse.
¡°Don¡¯t tell me, that it¡¯s from this witch.¡± she said, with an angry voice.
A witch? Did she mean Eri?
¡°Oh¡ Yeah, it is from this witch.¡± I responded, and she looked at me.
¡°Are you her new puppet? If you are, then I advise you to get away from her as fast as you can.¡± she then said, almost as if she had a grudge.
Well, I didn¡¯t say anything, but this is the thing that I want to do. I¡¯m only here because of that potion, and because I need a place to stay. She can give me both of them.
¡°By the way. I don¡¯t want it to sound stupid, but is this city called Flark?¡± I asked, and she took another glance at me.
¡°Are you an idiot? Of course this city is called Flark. There is only one city called like that in the whole kingdom!¡±
¡°The whole kingdom?¡± I said, and this time she seemed to be surprised.
¡°Who are you? Someone in your age should know things like that.¡±
I can understand her words, but I have been living in this world for a few hours. It would be hard for me to know those things. At first I was too confused, to think about them, but now I have the opportunity to learn about the place I will spend the rest of my life in.
¡°Let¡¯s say I¡¯m someone from far away. Anyway, what is this kingdom?¡±
¡°Hmm¡ If you say so. It¡¯s not like I can¡¯t tell you those things. We are now in the kingdom of Beorean. It is the biggest kingdom of the west, if you don¡¯t count the kingdoms of Cu¡¡±
¡°Okay, I¡¯m sorry. I don¡¯t really care.¡± I interrupted her, and she looked at me displeased.
¡°Weren¡¯t you the one, that wanted to know those things?¡±
¡°Yeah, yeah. I know, but I forgot how boring can this be in games.¡± I said, but it¡¯s not like she would understand me ¡°Anyway, what do you know about the demon king? It¡¯s something that interests me more.¡±
¡°A demon king? You don¡¯t even know that much? Well, they call him the demon king, but he isn¡¯t a threat for us.¡±
Wait, what?
¡°Why?¡±
¡°He doesn¡¯t attack us anymore. I don¡¯t know why, but I have never even seen a demon, and I lived for some time.¡±
Ahh¡ So this is the case....Stolen novel; please report.
Why was I reborn in this world! She said that they have a problem with demon king!
Ehh, nothing good will come from this. I shouldn¡¯t get angry. I was the one that didn¡¯t want to fight with the demon king. When I think about this, it¡¯s better that way. I will just live the rest of my life, working in a shitty job¡
It¡¯s all because of that dog!
¡°Anyway, I did what I needed to. I must go back, or the ¡°witch¡± will get angry at me.¡± I said suppressing my urge to break something, and the woman looked at me with a smile.
¡°Don¡¯t want to make her angry, do you?¡± she said, and grabbed one of the chocolate buns ¡°Here, take this with you. For your service.¡±
Oh, is this the first act of kindness towards me?
¡°There is no reason to cry because of that. Just take it.¡±
¡°Thank you.¡± I said, as I took the bun from her hand. It was cold, probably because it was baked in the morning, but I was still happy.
¡°Goodbye, and thank you.¡± I said, as I approached the door.
¡°Yeah, yeah. Just go.¡± was the last thing I heard, and then I went outside.
Fortunately, this weird girl in wizard hat wasn¡¯t there. It seemed that she gave up. I still came back using other road. There was no need to risk meeting her, and I had more time to eat the bun that this lady gave me.
When I came back, the guild wasn¡¯t as full as before. Many of the people left, and both of the girls were now doing nothing.
¡°Oh, you came back? Did you have any problems?¡± Eri said, when I entered the room. She was now counting the money, that she earned today.
¡°Didn¡¯t have any. I did what you wanted.¡± I said, and she smiled at me.
¡°Knew I could rely on you. Anyway, as you can see, we don¡¯t have much more customers. If you want, you can have a room, and go to rest.¡±
Is this a trap? Is she going to tell me, that she won¡¯t give me any money, because I went to sleep early?
¡°Why are you looking at me like that? I¡¯m not lying. We will take care of everything with Mika, won¡¯t we?¡± when she said that, the girl with dog ears looked at me.
¡°Y-Yeah, we will take care of everything.¡±
Well, I don¡¯t see a reason not to trust them. I don¡¯t remember working that hard in my life before. I don¡¯t remember working at all to be precise.
¡°I will take my leave then.¡± I said, and took one of the keys from Eri. After that I opened the door that was on the right of the counter.
Might as well go to sleep. I¡¯m too tired to think about anything.
When I went there, I saw a small corridor with a few doors on the both sides of it. All of them were the rooms for people that were staying in this place. A room like this doesn¡¯t cost that much, so it¡¯s a good way for adventurers to spend the night.
I just went to the nearest one to the right.
¡°Turn on!¡± I shouted, and a small, red orb on the ceiling illuminated the room. If I didn¡¯t know better, then I would say that it was a lamp or something. Well, it wasn¡¯t, it was some kind of magical device. I saw Eri do this a few times, so I knew how to use it.
¡°It¡¯s not that bad¡¡± I said, after looking at the room.
It was small, but it had a nice looking bed, with a large chest behind it. It was probably for the equipment. I didn¡¯t have things like this, so I just locked the room, and covered the window.
After that I went to bed, thinking about the whole day.
It was bad. Maybe not everything, but most of it wasn¡¯t good at all...
Is it because of my luck? Why do I even have zero luck? Is it possible? I remember playing lottery in the old world¡ There was no way that I would win! And what is with that intelligence! I don¡¯t think it should be a ten outta ten, but five?
Ahh, there is no reason to think about those things.
¡°Turn off!¡± I shouted, and the orb stopped shining. After that I went to sleep. I was tired. Too tired to think about anything, and too tired to be angry. I just wanted, to sleep so that¡¯s what I did.
I was woken up by Eri, but I don¡¯t know for how much I have been sleeping.
¡°How much do you want to stay there!?¡± she said with a displeased voice, while knocking on the door ¡°We need to prepare for the morning.¡±
¡°Let me sleep!¡±
¡°Who do you think you are?! Do you want me to throw you out?¡±
Ahh...
¡°I¡¯m going!¡± I just said, and went to open the door. I wanted to sleep some more, but there was no reason to fight with her.
¡°Come with me.¡± she said, when she saw me. I did as she told me to, and we went to the bigger room.
¡°You can¡¯t sleep for so long Ryan. We have a lot of work to do now. Don¡¯t you understand?¡± she said, as she approached the counter.
¡°Good morning!¡± I heard a voice coming from the door to the guild, and when I looked into it¡¯s direction I saw the familiar girl with dog¡¯s ears. She was wearing a casual clothing now, and she looked nice in it.
¡°Oh, good morning Mika. You are early today.¡± Eri said, and the girl smiled.
¡°Yeah, I woke up earlier than usual.¡±
After that, Eri looked at both of us. She looked as she was thinking about something, and after that she started speaking.
¡°Before we will start, let me give you the money for yesterday.¡±
Money for yesterday? Finally! I worked for so long, so I want some money now! One day of work is worth three vlawnias. Those golden coins are called like that. Anyway, I don¡¯t know how much it will take me to earn one hundred coins, but I know that it¡¯s better than doing some reckless things.
¡°This is for you¡¡± Eri said, as she handed Mika the money. Three coins, I could see it.
Yeah, yeah. Do it faster! Give me my money!
¡°And this is for you Ryan.¡±
Wait, what is that! It¡¯s not even an one coin! What are those bronze things?!
¡°What is that?¡± I asked, and she smiled.
¡°Those are small vlawnias. One of them is worth as much as one hundredth of vlawnia, and you now have fifteen of them.¡±
¡°No! You didn¡¯t understand me! Why do I have only those things! She got three, normal coins.¡± I said, and pointed at Mika. She just looked at me scared, as if she did something wrong.
¡°Well, you ate my soup, and after that you rented a room in here. It¡¯s not like I can give you more.¡±
¡°I rented a room!? It¡¯s not like anyone would rent it anyway! You didn¡¯t lose any money!¡± I shouted, but she didn¡¯t seem to care.
¡°Oh, Ryan. I can¡¯t give my stuff for free, but don¡¯t worry. I will hire you for as long, as you need.¡±
I looked at her. She really was a witch!
¡°I¡¯m not your slave!¡± I said, and she smiled.
¡°Do you think you will find a better job in here? With those skills of yours?¡±
I looked at her. She planned this from the beginning. Yeah, she planned everything from the beginning, and it was all because of that stupid dog!
I don¡¯t want to spend here the rest of my life! I knew it! I knew from the beginning that I will live my whole life, while working in a shitty job, but this is too much! I don¡¯t want it! Can someone just save me!?
¡°Is it open?¡± I heard a cute voice from the door, and it broke this short silence.
When I looked into its direction, I saw a familiar girl in a pointy hat.
5. Goblins are scary, but not as much as girls
I quit my job. Why? Did something happen?
Well, to understand me fully, you need to know what happened in the last ten minutes. I was cheated again, and again it was done by a woman. I don¡¯t know if I have a bad luck¡ Wait, I do know that I have a bad luck. Anyway, I was cheated.
Of course, you can say things like ¡°you got a free room¡±, or ¡°you thought that you were eating there for free?¡±. The thing is, I don¡¯t care. I was reborn for greater things. I know that I said that I won¡¯t do them, but still, it¡¯s a hard fall from ¡°fighting a demon king¡± to ¡°working like a slave for hardly any money at all¡±.
I know, I know. I said that I want to be a NEET. Nothing changed, and I don¡¯t think it ever will. I knew that it was an entry level job, but I can¡¯t bring myself to work happily in a place like this.
Oh¡ don¡¯t take this wrong. I¡¯m not stupid. It¡¯s still better to be a slave, than to live on the street. Yeah, even a NEET has his dignity.
So what happened? There was this one weird girl, and she wearing this wizard outfit. When she saw me, a big smile appeared on her face. I don¡¯t know what she was thinking about, but I knew one thing.
¡°I don¡¯t know what you are selling, but I¡¯m not interested.¡± I said, and she pouted.
¡°Who do you think I am?!¡±
Is he not a shady merchant? If she not a bandit, and not a seller, then who she is? Does she like walking through the city at night? Or she was looking for something in this trashcan? Is she poor?
Oh no! But she is just a teenage girl!
¡°I don¡¯t know what you are thinking about, but you are wrong!¡± she shouted one more time.
She might even be a psychic!
¡°We will open in a short amount of time. You can stay inside, if you want.¡± Eri said, as if she didn¡¯t care about what we were talking about.
¡°There is no reason to. I just wanted to talk with him.¡± this girl then responded, and pointed at me.
Wait, why me? Did I do something?
¡°Ahh... I thought so.¡± Mika just said, when she heard her.
¡°And here I was thinking, that you might buy something for the first time. Don¡¯t scare me like this!¡± Eri added.
Wait, what are they talking about?
¡°As if I would buy something from a place like this!¡± the girl said, but the ¡°witch¡± just looked at her irritated.
¡°You say that, but you will come back in the next day, to torment our customers as always. Maybe we should stop letting you in?¡±
After that, this girl grabbed her staff stronger, while looking at the three of us. Her face was red from anger, and embarrassment. She looked almost, like she was about to cry.
¡°Just let me talk with him!¡±
Wait! Why me? And if I¡¯m not wrong, someone was saying something about tormenting! I don¡¯t want to be tormented!
¡°Ehh¡ If you won¡¯t come back for today, then it¡¯s okay. But make sure to make it fast. I need him.¡± Eri said, and looked at me ¡°Go outside with her for a moment. After that you¡ we will have a lot of work to do.¡±
Hey! Who decided that!? Shouldn¡¯t I be the one to agree to this!? And why did you say ¡°you¡± just now?!
¡°Come with me, you won¡¯t regret it!¡±
This is something you would say, when you know that I will regret it!
I looked at the girl that was standing near the door. She looked cute. Very cute. When I saw her at night, I couldn¡¯t really see her face. I was running away from her, so it was hard to do this, but now I could see her clearly.
Man, I have never been wanted by a cute girl before. Not that I was wanted by any girl.
Maybe this is my lucky day!? If she¡¯s not a shady merchant, and she¡¯s not some thief, then maybe, just maybe, she might be¡ Heh.
¡°Why are you smiling to yourself? It¡¯s creepy! Just come with me!¡±
¡°Y-Yeah, I¡¯m coming.¡± I said in the most attractive way I could.
I did as I was told to, and I followed her outside. It was early in the morning, and we were just going to open, that¡¯s why the road was almost empty. Only few people were walking on it, and most of them were probably going to work.
As I felt the warmth of the sun on my face, I thought about what I should say. It was my first time being confessed to. I was happy, and the girl was cute¡ Man, it¡¯s my lucky day. I have read many novels about being transformed to another world. In them, young boys have their own harems, and every girl wants to be with them.
She must be one of them.
¡°There is no need to talk, I know what you want to say.¡± I said, and she looked at me.
¡°Really? And you still went with me? Are you not irritated?¡±
¡°Irritated? Oh, who do you think I am? I¡¯m happy! At first I thought that you might be a thief, or even some nutjob.¡± as I said those things, she looked at me with displeased face ¡°But now I know how wrong I was. Now that I think about this, it should be obvious! Oh, I was so stupid. I hope you will forgive me.¡±
She didn¡¯t respond immediately, but she just stared at me for some time. After that she smiled, with the biggest and cutest smile I have ever seen.
¡°You aren¡¯t lying?!¡±
¡°Of course I¡¯m not.¡±
¡°Really?!¡±
¡°Really.¡±
¡°Really, really?¡±
¡°Really, really, really.¡±
Just how much you don¡¯t believe me?
When I was thinking about what to say next, she covered her mouth with her hand. Even after she did that, I could still see that she was smiling. I took her some time, to regain her composure, but she finally started speaking again.
¡°Then, let me say it¡¡±
Oh, it¡¯s so good to be young. I knew that God was on my side. All this ¡°heh, we will only give you a glass¡±, and laughing at my death.
He must be on my side, if a girl like her is going to confess to me. The first thing he will give me is a girl, and the next will be some strong weapon. I knew that this life can¡¯t be this boring.
¡°Let¡¯s get rid of those goblins!¡± You might be reading a stolen copy. Visit Royal Road for the authentic version.
Huh? Oh¡ She must be stressed. You meant ¡°I like you, do you want to go out with me¡±? Don¡¯t worry, I understand. When I confessed for the first time, I have done something stupid too. Now you just need to correct yourself, and¡
¡°At first we will dig a big hole. I don¡¯t know how big, but it should be pretty big. After that we will put spikes in it. Many, many spikes.¡±
H-Heh, that¡¯s a nice one. Weren¡¯t you going to tell me, that you love me?
¡°Then we just need to lure them there. It¡¯s going to be fun!¡±
Now, now. I¡¯m pretty sure that you were supposed to say something else. Don¡¯t make me wait.
¡°Okay! Let¡¯s go! We don¡¯t have much time. We have a lot of digging before us!¡± this girl just said, and smiled.
I don¡¯t understand. Weren¡¯t you going to tell me that you love me? Why are you talking about goblins? Is this a custom in this world, that when you love somebody you talk with them about goblins? Is this big hole full of spikes a metaphor, meant to show your girlish heart?
¡°What are you waiting for? We need to go.¡± I heard her voice one more time, as she called me.
¡°Correct me if I¡¯m wrong, but is this hole full of spikes a metaphor, meant to show your inner struggles?¡± I asked, and she looked at me puzzled.
¡°No?¡±
¡°Then you were just talking about normal goblins, and how you want to lure them into a hole?¡±
¡°Yeah, that¡¯s what I did.¡±
¡°Ah¡ I understand!¡± I said, and she smiled at me.
¡°Good, we need to go, and¡¡±
¡°I¡¯m not going anywhere.¡±
¡°Wait! What?!¡± she sounded surprised, as if she didn¡¯t know what happened.
¡°I don¡¯t care! You can go, and dig this hole for yourself. After that you should jump into it, and stay there for the rest of your life, for playing with my heart. You.. You monster!¡± I said, and walked towards the guild.
I don¡¯t care. I don¡¯t care about anything. Why did I even think for a second, that something was going to change?! Don¡¯t I have zero luck?!
¡°Hey! Stop!¡± I suddenly felt her hands on mine. They were small, and warm.
¡°W-Why do you touch me?! Are you not satisfied?! Y-You want to see me cry?!¡±
¡°What are you even talking about?! Anyway, didn¡¯t you say that you were happy?¡±
¡°Happy?! Let me go! I want to work! I want to work in a shitty job for the rest of my life!¡± I shouted, and she let go of my hands.
After that she looked at me with anger, and then she took a piece of paper from a pocket of her navy blue coat.
¡°You want to work with her!? Look at that! Look at the bottom!¡± she said, as she shoved it to my face.

A piece of paper. The same as mine, but this skill on the bottom. It looks fake as hell. What is this?
¡°I worked in there too. I was working like a slave! And when I finally said, that I didn¡¯t think it was a good idea to stay there, she told me ¡°Oh, don¡¯t worry child, you can grab a very useful skill in this place¡±! It took me two months to realise it was fake!¡±
Two months?! Isn¡¯t her intelligence higher than mine?
But what she says is true. This woman¡ This witch, she¡¯s a monster. I just wanted a potion, to get higher stats, and she knew in the same moment, that she could use me like a child. But even if that¡¯s the case¡
¡°Even if that¡¯s the case, I don¡¯t want to risk my health and life in a stupid fight. And even if I wanted to, I don¡¯t have a place to stay. I can¡¯t just quit my job, no matter how bad it is.¡±
It¡¯s not like I wanted to work there. I needed a place to stay, and food eat. I don¡¯t think a room costs as much as she wants me to pay for it, but I can¡¯t say no to her. We have made a scene in the guild, and a lot of people now know about my ¡°skills¡±.
As I thought about those things, I looked at the girl. She was smiling confidently.
¡°If that¡¯s the case, then you can live with me.¡±
Wait! Wait, wait, wait. Living with a girl?! Under one roof?! Is this some kind of joke? Is she joking right now? She wants to live with me. W-a-n-t-s? N-No way, maybe she likes me after all?
¡°H-Hey! Why are you blushing!? What are you thinking about?!¡±
¡°N-Nothing... ¡° I replied, and looked at her. She looks cute, and she doesn¡¯t seem to be a bad person, but there is one problem. ¡°It¡¯s nothing, but you should ask someone else. I don¡¯t want to fight. I don¡¯t want to risk anything. I know that this job is bad, but I also know that it¡¯s better than fighting with some monsters.¡±
Yeah, I don¡¯t want to risk anything. Some things in this world suck. It sucks that you need to go to work. It sucks that you can¡¯t sleep for how long you want. Many things suck, but there are those that suck the most. One of them is dying because of a stupid reason. Dying because a stupid dog can¡¯t understand your words is one of them.
¡°What are you talking about?¡±
What?
¡°Goblins are harmless. They run after you with small sticks, that can¡¯t even hurt you. Stronger adventurers don¡¯t even kill them, because they are funny.¡±
Wait a moment. Just wait a moment.
¡°Didn¡¯t you say, that you wanted to dig a big hole, to lure them inside?¡±
¡°Y-Yeah, I did. And what?¡±
¡°Can I ask you why?¡±
As I said this, she looked at the ground, and started playing with her hands. Don¡¯t tell me that this reason is that stupid.
¡°You saw my skills, didn¡¯t you? I don¡¯t have many of them, and they are weak.¡± she started speaking ¡°Many of the beginning adventurers start by killing goblins, and then they go after bigger things. That¡¯s what I wanted to do, but¡¡± she stopped for a moment.
¡°But?¡±
¡°But they are scary, and weird looking. I mean, they are green, and small! It¡¯s weird!¡±
¡°Okay, you are on your own now. Good luck.¡±
¡°Wait!¡± she grabbed me one more time ¡°You must come with me! No one else would! They say that it¡¯s stupid to dig a hole just to kill some goblins, but they don¡¯t understand! I told them so many times, but they wouldn¡¯t understand! Only someone like you can understand me!¡±
Only someone like me?! Is it an insult?
¡°Do you want to go back to there?! Do you want to work with her?! It¡¯s a beginning of a great friendship of two common people, bound by the fate. We will laugh by the campfire, looking at the faces of those green dwarfs in our hole!¡±
Well, it good pretty weird at the end, but there is something that makes me wonder.
¡°Can¡¯t you do it alone?¡± I asked, and she looked away.
Don¡¯t tell me¡
¡°They are scary, so I wanted you¡ to lure them...¡±
¡°Okay, I¡¯m going back.¡± I said, but she wouldn¡¯t let me go. She was still holding me with her hands.
¡°You want to spend the rest of you life in this place?! It¡¯s going to suck your soul! It¡¯s going to destroy you!¡±
She had a funny way of saying things, but she was right. You don¡¯t need to be a NEET, to feel that working in a place like this is bad for you. The most important thing to feel good in your job, is your salary and your boss. And my boss is a witch.
Lure some goblins into a hole? She said that they are small, so the are probably slow. I¡¯m not the fastest man alive, but I don¡¯t think I would lose to a dwarf. After that I would get some free gold, and then I would live with a cute girl¡
I looked at her one more time. She was still holding me with her hands, refusing to let me go.
¡°You will let me live with you?¡± I asked, and she responded immediately.
¡°Yeah! Of course!¡±
¡°And you have food in your place? You weren¡¯t looking for food in this trashcan at night?¡±
¡°O-Of course I have food! Don¡¯t worry about it!¡±
Did I hear a slight hesitation in her voice? Ah¡ It doesn¡¯t matter. If I¡¯m going to live my life in next world, then I might as well kill some goblins. It¡¯s like getting baptized.
¡°Okay, but if you are lying to me, then I¡¯m going to¡¡± I didn¡¯t even end my sentence, because she interrupted me.
¡°Thank you! Thank you! You won¡¯t regret it!¡± her voice was cheerful, and on her face there was a big smile.
It almost made me feel, like I made a good choice.
¡°Just wait here for a moment. I need to tell Eri, that I¡¯m going with you.¡± I said, and she nodded.
¡°Okay!¡±
After that, I slowly entered the guild. Both of the girls were cleaning the place, and Mika has already changed into her apron.
¡°Oh, you finally came back? What took you so long?¡± Eri said, when she noticed me.
I looked at her. She was calm, but I knew that what I was about to tell her, was going to change it.
¡°Y-You see. A-After talking with this girl, I decided to help her.¡± I said, and both of them looked at me like at an idiot.
After that I heard a loud laughter.
6. A start of my adventure
They were laughing. They were laughing at me. Both Eri, and Mika. Now that I think about, I would laugh at myself too. Going to dig a big hole full of spikes, only because a cute girl asked me to. Going to dig a hole, only because a cute girl asked me to?
Am I a virgin or something?!
Oh, wait¡ I am.
¡°How long do we need to go Mikori?¡± I asked, and she looked at me.
It was the name of this wizard girl. We were now going through the city, heading to her house, and for some reason the road seemed familiar.
¡°H-How do you know my name?¡± she asked, with a frightened face.
¡°Didn¡¯t you shoved this piece of paper with it to my face?! Why are you walking faster!? Hey, who do you think I am?!¡±
¡°Ohhh¡ I¡¯m sorry. For a moment there I thought you might be a very bad person, and I even invited you to live with me. Anyway, it won¡¯t take long. By the way, what is your name? I didn¡¯t ask in this commotion.¡± she said, and smiled.
¡°It¡¯s Ryan.¡±
¡°It¡¯s nice to meet you Ryan. I hope we will have a great future together.¡±
I¡¯m sure that we have a great future before us, but there are some things that interest me. For example...
¡°What were you doing outside in the night yesterday? Were you looking for valuable things in this trashcan?¡±
¡°H-Hey! I¡¯m not that kind of person! I j-just really didn¡¯t want to go home¡¡± she said, and looked away bashfully.
Wait, why? What is she talking about?!
As I thought about those things, we approached a very familiar shop, and she stopped. In an instant, I remembered why this place looked so familiar.
¡°It¡¯s here! I live here with a very kind old lady.¡± she said, and pointed at a big sign. It read ¡°Best sweets in Flark¡±.
¡°Hey, hey, hey. Are you sure it¡¯s that place? And why you didn¡¯t want to return home? It¡¯s very important now!¡±
¡°O-Ohh. it¡¯s just that the lady here can sometimes be scary. But don¡¯t worry, I¡¯m sure she will like you!¡± she said, and entered the building.
I stopped for a moment, to think if what I did was a good thing to do, and after that I went after her. There was no reason to think about those things now.
When I was inside, I was greeted by a familiar smell. Bread, cakes, chocolate buns, and other tasty things. They were all put on the display, behind the glass, and near the counter an old lady was standing. I remembered her well.
¡°Oh, you are back Mikori? They threw you out early today.¡± she said, and smiled.
¡°T-They didn¡¯t throw me out! I came back because I wanted to!¡±
I looked at them talking. Wasn¡¯t I supposed to live alone, with a cute girl? This isn¡¯t what I agreed to. This is not that at all!
¡°Anyway! Look at who I brought with me! He said that he will help me!¡± Mikori said, as she pointed at me.
¡°Oh, what a nice boy.¡± the old lady replied, and looked at me. After that she seemed to remember something ¡°Wait, wait. Aren¡¯t you this one, that came to me yesterday without any money, only to deliver this outrageous message?!¡±
Wait! What message! I didn¡¯t know that this envelope had an outrageous message in it!
¡°Oh, so you know each other? Then I don¡¯t need to introduce him.¡±
Wait young girl! Don¡¯t you see that the situation is intense?! Shouldn¡¯t you say something more?! Unauthorized tale usage: if you spot this story on Amazon, report the violation.
¡°Ehh¡ Anyway, can he be here now? Isn¡¯t he working with this witch?¡± the old woman asked, and Mikori smiled.
¡°He¡¯s not working for her anymore! He will be living with me now!¡±
When she said that, the old lady looked at me, like at the worst thing that has ever lived in this world. Her eyes were so full of disgust, that they reminded me a little of my mother.
Oh, beautiful times.
¡°What were you thinking?! Why didn¡¯t you ask me first?! You can¡¯t just live with a boy in one room!?¡±
I wonder if I will come back while kneeling, they will let me in. Maybe I should buy a present? I have some money with me. Maybe a cake from this shop? Heh, it would be a nice joke. Eri will probably lower my salary even more.
¡°Why?! What is wrong with that? He said that he will help me, so I must help him too!¡±
¡°And who do you think will feed him?! He will live here for free? There is no way. You should tell him to go back.¡±
Oh yeah. Should have known that something like this will happen. What was my luck again? I don¡¯t remember. Oh, wait¡ I do remember. My luck resembles a tire¡ a wheel¡ a nice, empty circle.
¡°I-I will feed him! And what¡¯s wrong with him living in my room?! You won¡¯t need to pay for anything then!¡±
Don¡¯t worry Mikori. This adventure was fun while it lasted. Now I need to practise kneeling.
I looked at the old lady. She was angry, but she also looked resigned. After a moment of thinking, she took a glance at me.
¡°We have an empty room. If he will work, then I might let him stay...¡±
Wait! What are you talking about?! I don¡¯t want to work! It¡¯s the same as before!
¡°Really!? Thank you!¡± Mikori said, and went to hug her. After that she approached a door, that was on the back of the shop. ¡°I will just go and grab some shovels! I¡¯ll be back in a minute!¡± she said, and went through it, leaving me all alone.
I took a glance at the old lady. There was a smile on her face.
¡°I hope you are ready...¡±
Ready? Ready for what?! I didn¡¯t even say anything?! Did you hear my saying anything?! I was just standing there! Why did you decide everything on your own?!
¡°Oh, don¡¯t look at my with those frightened eyes. I¡¯m not like this witch. I will pay you one vlawnia for a day of work. I can¡¯t pay you more, if you are going to eat, and live here.¡±
What?! Is this old lady an angel? I thought that she was someone bad!
¡°H-Hey, there is no reason to cry! Anyway, Mikori have free weekends. If you are going to help her, then you will have them too, but¡¡± An angel! An angel! This lady is an angel! ¡°If you even touch her, I¡¯m going to kill you.¡±
A demon! A demon! This lady is a demon!
¡°I¡¯m back! Why is Ryan shaking?¡± Mikori said, when she came back with two shovels. They were big, and looked new.
¡°Oh, don¡¯t worry about this my child. Anyway, if you want to go now, then you should take this.¡± old lady replied, and handed me a basket. In it there were a few chocolate buns, and two sandwiches ¡°Don¡¯t do anything dangerous, and come back early. We will have a lot of work tomorrow.¡±
I knew it.
¡°Thank you! Come Ryan, we need to go. You will see, how perfect my plan is.¡± the girl said, and gave me a shovel. I felt like a certain knight, but I don¡¯t think he had a basket full of food in his other hand.
I looked around. Mikori was smiling near the door, and the lady was glaring at me. I don¡¯t know if they even noticed, but since I came here, I didn¡¯t say even one word.
¡°I don¡¯t know if you even care, but I accept your offer.¡± I said, and both of them looked at me puzzled, after that we left the building.
The day was still young, but now more people were walking on the road. I thought about what happened. It felt weird, but it seemed that the deal I had now was better, than the one I had before. From the beginning I just wanted to grab this potion, and then I would find a better way to earn money.
Even in a world like this, there must be a way to become a NEET.
¡°Thank you Ryan.¡± I heard the voice of the girl, that was now walking before me. She didn¡¯t had her staff with her, but only a shovel.
¡°For what?¡± I asked, and she looked at me.
¡°For everything. I¡¯m happy that you agreed to help me. You¡¯ll see, that you won¡¯t regret it!¡± Mikori said, and smiled.
I hope that I won¡¯t regret it. It¡¯s hard to believe you now.
¡°Anyway, I wanted to ask it before, but why are you wearing those clothes if you can¡¯t even cast one spell?¡±
¡°O-Oh, d-don¡¯t worry about it!¡±
What¡¯s with that weird response? Are you sure that goblins are not dangerous?! You weren¡¯t lying, were you? I don¡¯t want to find out while running from them!
As I thought about those things, I noticed that some of the people were looking at us. I could hear laughter coming from them.
¡°Hey, Mikori! Aren¡¯t they laughing at us?! They are laughing at us, aren¡¯t they!?¡±
¡°T-They are not!¡±
Yeah, she must be right. Why would anyone laugh, at the two of us. A guy without any skills, and a girl that wants to kill goblins with a hole. Why would they laugh at us, now walking through the road with two shovels¡
¡°Mikori, I¡¯m pretty sure that they are laughing at us! Mikori?! Say something! Don¡¯t just start walking faster! Hey! Mikori!¡± I shouted, but there was no response.
And just like that, we approached the city gate.
7. On our way to the goblins
I looked at the city walls. They were white, and high. Near the entrance to the city two guards were standing, in their silver armor.
¡°Are you sure, you know what you are doing?¡± I asked, when we passed them. I could hear their laughters behind us. How many people know about us now?!
¡°Of course I know what I¡¯m doing. The first thing we will do, will be digging a big hole, and then we will put spikes in it. Oh, but don¡¯t worry about them. I have made them before.¡± she said and smiled.
Just how much free time did you have?
As I looked at the road, I noticed that it was wider, and made of sand. We just left the city, and we were greeted by big fields of grass. They were everywhere, dancing happily illuminated by the sun. I felt a little breeze, but it was warm, and felt nice.
When I gazed at the horizon, I noticed big trees, and clear sky. It seemed that in the distance there was a forest.
¡°Anyway, where are we going?¡± I asked, and she pointed at those trees.
¡°There. Most of the goblins live in places like this.¡±
Seems normal. I looked at her, and she seemed excited. She was playing with the shovel in her hands, spinning it like a fan.
¡°Be careful, or you will hit yourself.¡±
¡°Who do you think I a... ¡° a loud noise carried through the road, and she kneeled while grabbing her head.
¡°Told you.¡±
Is it the right thing to do? Does she really have seven intelligence? Are we going to be killed? Is Santa Claus a big, fat idiot? Are dogs stupid?
Those were the thoughts that filled my mind. We live in a mysterious world, don¡¯t we?
¡°D-Don¡¯t just stare at me!¡± Mikori said with anger, and looked at me.
What do you want me to do? Blow on it? Or chant a magical chant, that will make the pain go away?
It took her a few minutes, to finally stand up. She was still grabbing her head with her hands, and on her face there was a trace of dissatisfaction. Finally, she started speaking.
¡°It¡¯s all because of those goblins¡¡±
Are you stupid!?
¡°Anyway, we shouldn¡¯t stay in one place for too long. Those green dwarfs are going to taste my power!¡± she said, and started walking on the front, still playing with her shovel.
I just followed her, praying that what she said about those goblins was true. Praying that they are really just harmless, small monsters, that can¡¯t really hurt you. As I was walking, I noticed that some of the flowers looked different than those in my old world.
Well, it¡¯s not like a NEET like me, knows how flowers look. I¡¯m not a botanist, but I have never seen things like those. Big, red petals, and yellow centers. They looked weird, but cute at the same time.
¡°Hey, Mikori! What are they called?¡± I said, and pointed at one of the flowers.
She turned her head towards it, and then towards me.
¡°Dunno.¡± she said, and I looked at her with irritation in my eyes.
¡°Hey! How am I supposed to know everything?! You don¡¯t know either!¡±
Yeah, now that I think about this why would she know that? Maybe I was deceived by her intelligence?
¡°Anyway Mikori. You didn¡¯t answer me before, but why are you wearing clothes like this? I can¡¯t imagine you casting any spell, and it¡¯s not like you can do it either. Oh, wait! Don¡¯t tell me, that you were going to surprise me with your skills!¡± I said, and she looked at me displeased.
¡°You are rude, you know that? Anyway, I don¡¯t need to answer your every question. A woman with class needs to have her secrets.¡± she said, still playing with her shovel. She didn¡¯t look like a woman with class at all.
Does she want to hit herself one more time?
¡°But Mikori, you made me work in another job. And you didn¡¯t even ask me before, if I want to do this. Wouldn¡¯t it be too hard, to answer even one question?¡± when I said this, she stopped for a moment. This story has been unlawfully obtained without the author''s consent. Report any appearances on Amazon.
I did the same, and waited for her to do something. I took her some time, but she finally turned around.
¡°I b-bought them¡¡± she said, and immediately looked elsewhere.
¡°Hey Mikori! That¡¯s a lie! Mikori, tell me the truth. Aren¡¯t we comrades? Mikori! Mikori!¡± I shouted her name a few more times.
Oh, it wasn¡¯t bullying. You know what is bullying? Sending me to another world, with a glass of water. Compared to this, I was just having fun. A bullying is when you save a stupid dog, and he dies anyway. I was just playing around, waiting for us to reach the forest.
And that¡¯s what we did.
When we entered it, we were immediately covered by the shadows of high trees. They were everywhere around us, making it hard to see anything. Some wildlife could be heard in it, but it was mostly birds and small insects.
The leaves were rustling in the wind, and I finally felt a little tired. A NEET like me, can¡¯t walk with a shovel, and a basket full of food for too long. Things like this just don¡¯t work for me. I can understand walking for a few minutes, but it took us twenty minutes to get there.
¡°Hey, Mikori! Aren¡¯t we going to rest now?¡± I asked, and she looked at me.
¡°We just entered the forest! Did you think that we were going for a picnic? There is only harder work before us!¡± she said with a displeased voice.
¡°But Mikori, aren¡¯t you hungry? I¡¯m hungry Mikori! Mikori?!¡±
¡°Stop using my name in every sentence!¡± she shouted, and after that a loud noise escaped her stomach.
Did I hit the jackpot? Was I right? I was right, I¡¯m sure. Yeah, I was right, so why are you looking at me with so much anger? Why are you pointing your shovel at me Mikori? Aren¡¯t we comrades?
¡°Mikori stop! It was your stomach that growled, not mine!¡± I said, and she blushed even more.
¡°S-Shut up! Shut up!¡±
She was waving her shovel so vigorously. that she reminded me of some knight.
It took her some time to calm down. When she did, she looked at the basket in my hand. It seemed, that she was persuaded.
¡°Okay, we will eat, but after that we need to go immediately. We have a lot of work.¡±
¡°Of course Mikori.¡± I said, and once more she looked at me with anger.
It¡¯s not my fault that your name is so easy to pronounce. When I first entered this world, I was scared that people might have weird names. I know, a weird thing to be afraid of.
¡°Let¡¯s exit the road. I hope we won¡¯t meet any of those green dwarfs.¡± Mikori said, and started walking towards the trees.
I did the same, and we began to look for a good place to sit, and have a meal. It didn¡¯t take us long, because the ground was dry, and it was easy to move around. After some time, I noticed two stumps, and immediately called my companion.
¡°I think I have something nice Mikori!¡± I said, and she slowly approached me.
¡°It¡¯s a nice place, but stop using my name in every sentence.¡±
¡°Okay Mikori.¡± I responded, and sat on one of the stumps. She did the same, and I unpacked the food that we had in the basket.
Two sandwiches, a few chocolate buns, and some cookies. I didn¡¯t see them before, so this old lady probably put them here in secret. She might be an angel after all.
¡°Here, eat this.¡± I said, and handed her a sandwich. I took one myself, and took a glance at it. It seemed that it had cheese, some meat, and tomato in it.
¡°I hope it doesn¡¯t taste weird¡± I thought, as I took a bite. It didn¡¯t taste weird. On the contrary, it was delicious. The meat was slightly salty, and tomatoes were juicy.
I looked at the Mikori to see, if she shared my enthusiasm, and it seemed that she did. She was eating it so fast, that it was hard to even see what she was doing. I didn¡¯t know that someone could eat so fast¡
¡°Were you that hungry Mikori? You should have told me. It¡¯s unhealthy to travel with an empty stomach.¡± I said, and she blushed a little.
I took us some time to eat those sandwiches, but I wasn¡¯t full at all. I mean, they were tasty, but I could still eat more. It was my first meal of the day, and it seemed that it was the case for Mikori too.
I knew that, and that¡¯s why I said my next words.
¡°Okay, that¡¯s all for now. I will leave the rest for later. We need to hurry, because we have a very important mission.¡±
As I was putting the food into the basket, this girl looked at me with embarrassment.
Oh, young one. This was my trap. Now, say the words. Say them. There is no need to work today. It can be just a nice picnic. You know that, and I know that.
¡°I d-don¡¯t think we need to hurry that much.¡± she said, and I looked at her.
¡°B-But Mikori! Weren¡¯t we going to dig a big hole?¡±
¡°We have a l-lot of time. We should eat for now. Oh! It¡¯s because we need a lot of energy! You understand?! With a lot of energy, we will dig faster. Yeah, that¡¯s why we should stay here, and eat some more.¡±
Good Mikori. Come to the dark side.
¡°Well, if that¡¯s what you say.¡± I responded, and opened the basket one more time ¡°Then there is nothing I can do.¡±
As I took one of the chocolate buns, I pondered at how smart I was. Seven intelligence? Please, don¡¯t make me laugh. My five is worth more, than your seven.
Yeah, that¡¯s what I thought, but I didn¡¯t predict one thing.
¡°Hey, hey, hey Mikori! You can¡¯t eat so fast! Mikori! You are not a hamster! Mikori!¡± my words had no power.
It was as she didn¡¯t understand them. Stuffing her face with cookies, she looked like a wild animal. When she finally came to her senses, the basket was empty.
¡°S-Sorry.¡± she then said, and blushed.
¡°I wanted to eat those cookies too! Are you a monster of some sort?! A blue monster?!¡± I shouted, but there was no way she would understand me.
¡°I¡¯m sorry Ryan. I will pay you back for that, but now we need to get to work. If we are going to dig a big hole, then we need to start now.¡±
Girls are scary. Girls are really scary.
¡°Come Ryan! I will show you the place.¡±
I didn¡¯t have a choice, and I just went after her.
8. My first kill
¡°How long do we need to go?¡± I asked, when we returned to the road. After eating the food that the old lady gave us, we went to find the place where goblins were camping.
Or that¡¯s what Mikori has told me.
¡°Don¡¯t worry Ryan, it¡¯s near.¡± she said, and continued walking before me. For some reason she was still playing with her shovel.
We walked like this for another ten minutes, and after that we turned right. As we walked among the trees in the forest, I heard some weird noises.
¡°Bu, Bu Argh!¡± someone said in a squeaky way. It sounded weird, like a male voice put through some program.
¡°Shh Ryan, don¡¯t make too much noise. They are here.¡± Mikori said, and pointed at small figures that were dancing among the trees. They were maybe two hundred meters before us.
Small, green figures, with ugly faces, big bellies, and small, black eyes. I couldn¡¯t count how many of them were there.
¡°They are pretty small.¡± I said, and the girl looked at me.
¡°They are, but don¡¯t be deceived. Those little devils have beaten me many times.¡±
Beaten?
¡°Anyway Ryan, we need to find my hidden stash of spikes. After that we will dig a hole near it.¡± she said, and we moved away from the goblins, making sure that they don¡¯t hear us.
¡°Now that I saw them, they are really ugly aren¡¯t they?¡±
¡°You see?! I hate them. They look weird, they stink, and when they hit you with their little sticks, it really hurts. I hate them so much.¡± Mikori replied, with a weird passion.
I decided not to continue this topic, and I just followed her. We were walking for some time, and we finally approached a small clearing. There, on the ground were carved wooden spikes, maybe half a meter long each.
¡°Do we need that many?¡± I asked, as I looked at the twenty wooden spikes that were laying there. Each one of them was thick, and well done.
¡°Dunno.¡± was the only response. She really had too much time.
¡°Anyway Mikori, do we really need to do that? I know that I told you, that I will help you, but our work isn¡¯t that bad, is it? I mean, I haven¡¯t even worked for one day, but we are paid a normal amount of money. There is no reason to risk getting bruises.¡± I said, and she looked at me.
¡°Ryan, this isn¡¯t about the money. This is about my honor as an adventurer. I¡¯m here to show them, that I¡¯m no longer scared of them, and you said that you will help me.¡±
Ehhh¡
¡°So¡ Let¡¯s start digging?¡± I asked, and she nodded vigorously.
I put the basket on the ground, and grabbed the shovel with both of my hands. After that I approached the place she pointed, and started digging. The ground was a little wetter there, so it was easier to dig, but it was still tiresome. Of course, Mikori didn¡¯t wait much, and she started helping me.
As I worked, I noticed that this was harder than being a slave for Eri. Did I make a good choice? Am I really just a big idiot? How big is this hole even supposed to be?
¡°Hey, Mikori. I have one question.¡± I asked after ten minutes of digging.
¡°W-What is it Ryan?¡± she said with a tired voice, as she raised a shovel full of earth.
¡°How big is this hole supposed to be?¡±
¡°It¡¯s supposed to be big. Don¡¯t stop till I say something.¡±
Can¡¯t she be more precise? I see that the spikes are half a meter long each, so the hole is probably going to be meter deep, but how long is it going to be? How wide?
I raised another shovel. After that I raised another one, and another one. It was probably the worst thing I have even been doing. How much strength do I have again? Three? Oh man, this is just the work for me. I always wanted to work like that!
¡°M-Mikori¡ Let¡¯s stop for today¡¡± I said with tired voice, after an hour of digging.
¡°N-No! We need to do it today! I need to have me revenge!¡±
Are you even a teenage girl? You shouldn¡¯t speak about revenge so slightly. Revenge is when you get to bully someone, that sent you to a new world with a glass of water. With a glass of water¡
Wait! With a glass of water?! Stolen content alert: this content belongs on Royal Road. Report any occurrences.
¡°Mikori! We didn¡¯t take anything to drink did we?!¡± I shouted, and her hands trembled.
¡°A-And what? Are you thirsty? Y-You will drink when we come back.¡±
¡°No, no, no! I¡¯m thirsty Mikori! I want to drink some water! I want to have a glass of¡¡± I decided not end this sentence. The last time I have said it, I was cheated by a very bad woman.
¡°Ryan¡ If you¡ don¡¯t shut up¡ then I will tell the old lady¡ that you... ¡° oh no, did she heard our conversation back then? Is she going to blackmail me? Is she going to tell the old lady, that I wanted to do something really creepy to her?! ¡°bullied me¡¡± she said, and took a deep breath.
Okay, never mind.
¡°But Mikori, what do you want me to do? I¡¯m thirsty!¡±
¡°Just dig! I¡¯m thirsty too!¡±
¡°But that was your idea Mikori! You are supposed to¡¡± I stopped speaking, because she looked at me with angry eyes. A shovel in her hands looked now really scary.
¡°You will pay for this.¡± I thought to myself, as I thrusted mine into the ground.
Someone is going to pay for this. If not this goddess that sent me here, then those goblins. Yeah, it¡¯s all because of those goblins! Wait¡ I speak like this one girl that is now working beside me. Am I going crazy?
What am I even going to do, after we will dig this hole? Am I really going to run away from goblins, to lure them here? Is it a good plan? Am I going to be beaten?
As I was thinking about those things, the hole was getting bigger, and the day was coming to an end. Finally, the sun almost disappeared from the sky, and we were only illuminated by its weak, red light, as it was setting.
¡°Woah¡ hoo¡ It¡¯s r-ready¡¡± she said, as she looked at the hole. It was meter deep, and two meters wide, and long.
¡°Y-Yeah¡¡± I just replied, trying to take a breath. It took us too much time, and I don¡¯t even think that twenty spikes will fit in there.
I looked at the hole. For some reason I felt proud. Have I become that stupid? Being proud because of a hole? Are those the feelings of a proud father? Am I a father?
¡°I will take care of our child Mikori¡¡± I said, and she looked at me disgusted ¡°Anyway, we aren¡¯t going to lure the goblins today, aren¡¯t we? It¡¯s late, and it would be dangerous to leave a hole full of spikes alone.¡± when I stopped speaking, she looked at me.
¡°Yeah, you are probably right. Let¡¯s leave it for now, and we will come back some other day. Then I will have my vengeance.¡± she said, and she grabbed her shovel stronger.
I don¡¯t want to know what those goblins did to you. Anyway, it¡¯s good that we can come back now. I¡¯m thirsty, tired, and hungry. I just want to rest, and¡
¡°Bu, Bu Argh!¡±
No. No way. It¡¯s not happening.
¡°Bu, Bu Argh! Argh! Ru! Arara!¡±
It can¡¯t be happening.
¡°Look Ryan! They came to us! Grab your shovel, and fight for your life.¡± Mikori said, and smiled.
Fight for your life? Are you serious? If you are, then why are you smiling? Is it the good moment to be so smug? Weren¡¯t you scared of them anyway?
¡°Listen to me Mikori! It¡¯s late now, so they might not see the hole! Just go after me!¡± I shouted, and ran towards the edge of our child.
¡°O-Okay¡¡± she just replied disappointed, and went after me.
The goblins came from the forest. There were maybe eight of them. Small, ugly goblins. They smelled like rotten food, and they bellies were weirdly big. When they looked at us, they started screaming.
¡°Bu! Bu! Argh! Ara! Uru!¡±
In their hands only small sticks. In their eyes lust for blood. Are we even going to survive?
¡°Bu! Argh! Ara! Uru!¡± one of them shouted, and ran towards us. We didn¡¯t cover the hole or anything, so we just decided to trust in their stupidity. If they were smart, then we were going to be beaten.
It¡¯s good that they were stupid.
¡°Bu?! Argh! Ara?! Urur?!¡± they shouted, as each one of them started falling into our hole.
¡°Bu! Argh! Ara!!¡±
Well, they are really angry. But they are too small, to get out from it. Their thin hands couldn''t even rise their bodies out of this hole. I looked at them and smiled.
It¡¯s good, when something finally goes as you planned it. Even if they were throwing their sticks at us now.
¡°No! We didn¡¯t put any spikes in it! It¡¯s too early!¡± Mikori shouted, as she looked at the goblins that were now screaming at us.
When I thought about her words, I could only think about one thing.
Is she stupid?
I approached one of the spikes that she made, and I grabbed it. After that I walked towards the hole, where goblins were still shouting with anger. I looked one of them in the eyes, and after that I pierced him.
Oh no! Don¡¯t think that I am a bad person. Those are just monsters, and they wanted to beat me. I wouldn¡¯t do anything like that to another human being. I need every point of experience in this world that I was sent to, and it''s all because of some girl that gave me only a glass of water.
When Mikori saw what I was doing, she smiled and grabbed one spike for herself. For some reason, goblins weren¡¯t screaming with anger now, but they were rather cowering in fear.
¡°Haha! Look Ryan! I told you that I will have my revenge! Didn¡¯t I?!¡± she said, as she pierced another one.
Is she a psychopath or something?
Anyway, when the goblin was killed, he would turn into a small, white crystal. This crystal wasn¡¯t bigger than a small rock, and you could grab ten of them with one hand, without any problems.
It didn¡¯t take us long to take care of every goblin that we catched, and after that we gathered the crystals that were inside the hole.
¡°What are those things?¡± I asked, and she looked at me puzzled.
¡°They are the proof that you killed a monster. What did you think? That we were going to take their heads to the guild?¡± Mikori replied and laughed.
Well, I had a thought like this.
¡°Anyway, I¡¯m going home, and I don¡¯t care what you are going to say. We did what we were supposed to do, and I want to sleep.¡± I said, and she looked at me.
¡°Yeah, you are probably right. Anyway, I¡¯m glad you helped me. I thought that I will never become a true adventurer.¡± she said with a big smile.
¡°Yeah, yeah¡ I don¡¯t care.¡± I replied, and sighed. Is it considered being a real adventurer? Is killing helpless goblins in a hole, using a wooden spike, considered being a real adventurer.
¡°Anyway, how much is a crystal like this worth?¡± I asked, and her response was as I expected.
¡°Dunno.¡±
9. A date in a city? Is it even a date? What is it?
Half a vlawnia. Half a vlawnia for eight goblins. Is this a joke?! I was preparing this hole for a whole day. After that I needed to come back, I got very little rest, and now you tell me that all we got was half a vlawnia? And it¡¯s not like I could take everything. I needed to divide it into two parts, one for Mikori, and one for me.
¡°Hey, why are you sulking? We need to clean the shop.¡± Mikori said, and yawned. It seemed that she was tired too. Well, I couldn¡¯t feel bad for her. It was her idea to go there, and dig this hole.
She was now wearing different clothes. A white apron, and blue frilly skirt, that was reaching to her knees. Now she just looked like a normal, cute girl.
¡°You see¡ We went to dig a big hole, and everything we got was¡¡± I didn¡¯t end my sentence, and she looked at me.
¡°You could always work for this evil woman. Be happy for what you have.¡± she said, and continued sweeping with a broom.
Evil woman? You are an evil woman too!
Ehhh. It¡¯s not like this work is worse than the one I had before in the guild. Most of my duties are simple, and easy to do. But I need to help Mikori, with her stupid ¡°kill all goblins¡± scheme.
It would be great if I didn¡¯t have to go on ¡°adventures¡± with this girl on every weekend.
¡°What are you thinking about? You should work, not think.¡± Mikori said, and I started sweeping the floor.
The place we needed to clean wasn¡¯t that big, and it¡¯s not like it was dirty or anything.
Yeah, this shop¡ Best sweets in Flark. I couldn¡¯t see the old lady, but she was probably baking the food that she would put in here. It was morning now, so she needed to hurry to make it on time.
Her oven was in another room, so we were now alone with Mikori.
¡°Anyway Mikori, could you explain to me one thing?¡± I asked, and she looked at me one more time.
Her clothes really were cute, and she looked in them really good.
Ahh¡ A girl that cute. It¡¯s a shame that she is a nutjob.
¡°What is it Ryan?¡±
¡°You see... Yesterday we went to kill some goblins. I understand that you got your revenge, but it seems that you still want to go there.¡±
¡°Of course I want to! I hated those goblins, and I wanted to beat them, it¡¯s the truth. But I also want to become an adventurer. If I am to become one, then I need to kill more goblins.¡±
¡°Oh yeah, I can understand you, but if we could only work here like normal people, and after that we would buy an experience po¡¡± as I was saying this, Mikori looked at me with anger.
¡°A true adventurer must taste the hardships of a good fight! He must sing with his companions at night by the fire, and he must kill monsters. I don¡¯t want to be a poser!¡± she said, and continued cleaning.
Wait Mikori! Wait a moment! Those words truly sound beautiful, but we were just killing weak monster after luring them to a hole. We were the bad guys! Mikori, don¡¯t be deceived!
¡°Anyway, you should see your smile Ryan when you were dealing with those green dwarfs! I knew from the beginning that you will be a good adventurer.¡±
¡°I think that you are mistaken about something Mikori.¡± I said, and she looked at me puzzled ¡°Anyway, how long do we need to clean this place?¡±
¡°Dunno.¡±
Why did I even ask?! If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. Please report it.
Eh, sometimes it seems to me that Mikori doesn¡¯t know anything useful.
¡°Don¡¯t worry Ryan, sometimes when I end the work quickly, and there is no need for me to help, this lady lets me have the rest of the day for myself.¡±
Is this true?! Mikori, why didn¡¯t you tell me this earlier?! You know useful things! Anyway, if I knew this before, then I would clean faster. Now I am motivated to work!
¡°Ryan, I didn¡¯t know that you like cleaning so much! It looks almost like dancing!¡± Mikori said in amazement, when she saw my secret technique - ¡°Clean everything before mother enters the room¡±.
Only a true neet can master a technique like this. It¡¯s weird that it wasn¡¯t shown in my skills.
As I was cleaning happily, thinking about what I will do with the free time that I will have, the old lady entered the room.
¡°Oh, it seems that the young boy is a real hard worker. It¡¯s good to have someone like this, when you need to have the job done.¡± she said, and laughed ¡°But don¡¯t think even for a moment, that I will let you have any free time.¡±
She¡¯s a demon! A demon!
¡°Anyway, you should help me carry the food to this place. After that I will give you an important mission.¡± the old lady smiled, as she was saying this.
Important mission? It sounds bad.
After that we went after her, to a special room where she was making her ¡°best sweets in Flark¡±. At first, we passed the door, where Mikori once went to grab the shovels. When we did, we arrived at a small corridor. It had two windows to the right, and four doors. Three of them were to the left, and the last one was at the end of the corridor.
We just walked to the last door, and the old lady opened it. When she did, I could smell some really tasty things.
We were in a small room, with an oven and kitchen utensils everywhere. This place had many drawers in it, that probably contained things that are needed to bake. It reminded me of my grandmother¡¯s kitchen.
¡°Okay, take those buns, and put them behind the glass. Mikori will take the bread, and I will take the cakes. It¡¯s all that I baked today.¡± she said, and handed me the buns. I loved them so much. They were my children. ¡°If you touch even one of them, I will kill you.¡±
A demon! She¡¯s a demon!
After she told us that, we quickly did what she asked us to. The work wasn¡¯t that hard, and it didn¡¯t take us that much time.
Twenty minutes passed, and we were standing in the shop, looking at the food that was now arranged behind the glass.
¡°It¡¯s better when we have three people, isn¡¯t it?¡± Mikori asked, as if she wanted to confirm, that I was being useful.
¡°Yeah, yeah Mikori.¡± the old lady only responded, and looked at me ¡°Anyway, as I said, I have a special mission for you both.¡±
A special mission? Is it about carrying heavy things? Or is it about working like a slave? I know very well, how special missions work in this world old lady. Hit me! Hit me with it!
¡°I want you to go to some shops.¡± she said, and handed me ten vlawnias.
What?
¡°What kind of shops?¡± Mikori asked, and the lady responded while still looking at me.
¡°You know¡ I need some flour, and sugar¡¡± why are you looking at me? Why are you looking at me?
¡°Don¡¯t worry. You can leave it to us.¡±
Stop Mikori! Don¡¯t you see that it¡¯s a trap?!
¡°I knew that I can count on you both¡ Because you agree, don¡¯t you Ryan?¡± she said, as she looked at me. I just nodded, and looked another way. Her eyes were too scary. Too scary for a mortal like me.
¡°Mikori, go outside, and wait for a moment. I will just give Ryan a list of things that you need to buy, okay?¡±
¡°Of course ma¡¯am!¡± Mikori replied, and left me alone in this weird shop.
What is happening? Am I going to be killed? This is really weird! Are we going to carry very heavy things?! Are we?!
¡°Listen to me Ryan.¡± old lady said, as she handed me a small list ¡°I don¡¯t send you there, to do any weird things do you understand? You are her first friend, so you should spend some time with her in a normal way. Not fighting some goblins.¡±
Wait! What are you talking about? Are you an angel?
¡°But try doing something weird, and I will kill you, do you understand?¡±
Are you a demon?!
¡°She¡¯s a good girl, and she works hard everyday. When I asked her about you, she told me how you helped her fight those goblins.¡± Wait! We didn¡¯t fight any goblins! It wasn¡¯t a fight at all! ¡°It¡¯s good that now she has a friend, don¡¯t you think? I¡¯m glad that someone finally understands how kind she is.¡± as she was saying this, she smiled.
¡°I gave you more money than you need, so you can go and eat something together, or do anything you want.¡± she said, but after that she looked at me with very scary eyes ¡°Of course, I said do anything you want, but you know that I didn¡¯t mean it literally, do you?¡±
A demon! A demon!
¡°Now, now! Don¡¯t look at me like that! Go and have some fun!¡± she said, and laughed ¡°But return too late, and you are dead, do you understand?¡±
¡°Y-Yeah!¡± was the only response I could give her.
10. Dont be stingy on your first date, even if its not a date
Ten vlawnias. Ten vlawnias! Is it a dream? Is it reality? Oh man, I have never had so much money. I could buy so many things for that! Food, drinks¡ food, and other drinks... and maybe drinks? I forgot that in this world there are no video games. Anyway, ten vlawnias!
¡°Ryan, why are you smiling to yourself? It¡¯s creepy!¡± Mikori said to me, while walking beside me.
Oh, I forgot. Mikori. I need to buy something for both of us. But will anything bad happen, if I will just spend this money on myself?
Am I stupid or something?! If this old lady finds out, then I¡¯m dead! It¡¯s not worth it. It¡¯s not worth it at all!
¡°Ryan! Are you even listening to me?¡± Mikori said something one more time.
I looked at her. She was still wearing this blue frilly dress, and white apron. A small, petite girl, with a cute face. She looked cute, really cute. Her shoulder-length, silver hair, and big, purple eyes were cute. Everything about her was cute, but there was something more important right now. More important than this ¡°date¡± of ours.
Money.
¡°Oh, don¡¯t worry Mikori, I¡¯m listening.¡± I responded, and smiled in the best way I could. There is no way she can guess that it¡¯s fa¡
¡°What with this fake smile? Are you thinking about something creepy?¡±
Is she a psychic or something? Anyway, I need to spend as little money as possible. I need this experience potion, and I need it now.
I looked at the list, to see what this old lady wanted us to buy. She has a nice bakery, so she might need many ingredients. Well, that¡¯s what I thought, but the list was small. It would still cost me about five vlawnias, but the rest of the gold was for me.
You have given your money to the wrong person old lady! When my mother gave me some money on my birthday, I have bought a pillow with an anime character on it. This is the kind of person I am! This is the kind of person you have given your money to!
¡°Ryan! Why are you laughing to yourself!?¡± Mikori asked, this time with a worried look on her face.
Cute girl? And what?! Who cares!
¡°Oh, I¡¯m so sorry Mikori. You see, this good lady has given us some money, to buy things she needs. Of course, we will do that, but I would also like to eat something. What do you think about that?¡± I asked, and she looked at me disgusted.
¡°Ryan, you don¡¯t talk like that! What happened?¡±
¡°Oh, I don¡¯t talk like that? Please, don¡¯t make me laugh Mikori. I have always talked like that.¡±
What is wrong with her?! Didn¡¯t she heard me? I was talking about food! Don¡¯t you love food?!
I thought about those things, as I was walking through the city. The day was still young, and a lot of people were walking on the road. Sun illuminated the colorful buildings, making this walk really enjoyable.
I looked at Mikori. She was still worried about me, I could see it. Well, if she is worried about me, then I might as well ask her in normal way.
¡°Want to eat something?¡± I said it, and a big smile appeared on her face.
¡°Should have said it from the beginning!¡±
I did.
¡°Anyway Mikori, is there anything special you want to eat?¡± I asked, but I needed to be careful. Yeah, I can save a lot of money, if I play it right. I just need her, to buy cheap things, and after that she will tell the old lady, that she had a good time.
¡°A crepe, ice cream, some meat, a cake, and a big¡¡±
¡°Wait Mikori! Wait! We can¡¯t buy that much!¡± I shouted, and she looked at me puzzled.
¡°You just asked me if there is anything I want to eat. It¡¯s not like I¡¯ll make you buy all those things.¡±
Is she stupid?
¡°Could you choose one thing? I asked you, because I want to treat you.¡±
When I said this, she stopped walking. Her face was serious, as if she was thinking about something really important.
Is it really something so hard? Is it that important, to choose the best thing? Are you in that much pain?
¡°Well¡ If it can be only one thing, then I want ice cream.¡± she said, and smiled.
¡°Of course.¡± I just responded, and we went to look for a place, that could sell us some.
Anyway, I didn¡¯t think about it before, but they have sweets that are similar to those in my world. It seems that the magic of ice cream came even here. Who knows, maybe someday I will find a black, fizzy drink with too much sugar?
It doesn¡¯t matter. Now I need to find the place that will sell us some ice cream.
As I was walking I noticed that some of the buildings were bigger, and looked nicer than before. It seemed, that we approached the center of the city. When I looked around, I saw many shops. They sold clothes, food, and things that could be used by an adventurer.
¡°It looks nice, doesn¡¯t it?¡± Mikori said, while still walking beside me.
¡°Yeah, it does.¡±
¡°Anyway Ryan, why did you feel like buying me something to eat anyway? I thought that you are stingy. I mean, when you saw that we got only half a vlawnia for killing goblins, it seemed to me that you were about to cry.¡± This novel is published on a different platform. Support the original author by finding the official source.
Shut up! Shut up!
¡°D-Don¡¯t worry about it Mikori. I think I have changed. Yeah, I have changed! I am a new man today.¡± I said, and she looked at me suspiciously.
¡°Well, if you are going to buy me something to eat, then it doesn¡¯t matter.¡±
Uhh. It¡¯s good that she is so stupid.
¡°Anyway Mikori, it seemed to me that a glutton like you would know where to buy any kind of food.¡±
¡°How rude! Who do you think I am?! Some wild animal, that only wants to eat?¡±
¡°Yeah.¡±
It seemed that my last words, have made her really angry. Maybe I shouldn¡¯t make fun of her? No, it¡¯s not possible.
¡°Anyway Ryan, I have never asked this, but who do you want to be?¡±
¡°I don¡¯t think that I understand.¡±
¡°What do you want to do in your future? Who do you want to become? I have never really asked you, but if we are going to be comrades, then we need to know each other.¡± she said, and smiled at me.
No, we don¡¯t need to know each other.
¡°I want to become a NEET.¡± I responded, and she looked at me with puzzled eyes.
¡°W-What is a NEET?¡±
¡°A NEET is a person, that doesn¡¯t work. He doesn¡¯t contribute to the society, and he never leaves his house. A life like this would be my dream.¡±
Hey! Why are you looking at me like that?! Did I say something weird? Why are your eyes so full of compassion?
¡°T-Then, good luck?¡± she said, with a weird smile.
Who do you think you are?! Why is my dream weird for you?! I just want to live my life in a peaceful way! You are the weird one here!
¡°Look Ryan! It¡¯s a place that can sell us some ice cream!¡± Mikori interrupted my thoughts.
Why are you even so excited?
When I looked at the place, I noticed that it looked really nice. It was a small, wooden building in the middle of the city, with red roof and white walls. It had a cute feeling to it, and on top of the door there was a sign with an ice cream cone drawn on it.
¡°Come Ryan! Come!¡±
Maybe I wasn¡¯t that excited because I have eaten a lot of ice cream in my old life? For a NEET like me, sweets and unhealthy foods are normal.
¡°Okay, okay¡¡± I just replied thinking about how I¡¯m going to save a lot of money.
Yeah, I will just buy her some ice cream, and I will leave the rest of the money for myself. If this old lady asks her ¡°what were you doing outside?¡± she can just reply the we went to eat something. This way I won¡¯t need to deal with her, and I will have more money, and¡
Am I an evil genius?! I might be!
¡°Look Ryan, this place is cute.¡± Mikori said, when we entered. She was right. The place wasn¡¯t big. Painted in green, It had maybe four tables, and a small counter. In it, behind the glass ice cream was stored. Many different kinds. Chocolate, banana, vanilla¡
¡°Yeah, it does. Anyway, you can ask this nice lady for some, and I will pay for you.¡± I said, as I looked at the girl behind the counter. She was a normal young girl, with long black hair, wearing a white apron.
¡°And you? What will you get?¡±
¡°I don¡¯t need to eat anything.¡± I replied, and she looked at me surprised.
¡°Huh? Aren¡¯t you going to order anything? Maybe I should order for you?¡±
Don¡¯t make this harder than it is. I want to eat some too. I miss my high sugar diet, but it¡¯s not like I can eat like this in this world.
¡°D-Don¡¯t worry Mikori. Just get anything you want. I will pay.¡± I said, and smiled.
Yeah, a girl like her will understand. A glutton like her, will understand, and she will go to eat¡
¡°I don¡¯t want to.¡±
Huh? What?!
¡°W-What are you talking about Mikori? You don¡¯t want to eat ice cream? Are you sick or something? Do you want to rest? Maybe I should¡¡±
¡°S-Shut up! I don¡¯t want to eat alone. I will feel bad, if I¡¯m the only one having fun.¡± she said, and blushed for some reason.
Is this something people do on dates? Is this a date? Yeah, maybe my heart would skip a beat, if it wasn¡¯t about money. Money is more important, than stupid things like this.
¡°Oh, don¡¯t say things like this Mikori. I will be having fun too, so just order, and¡¡±
¡°No!¡±
Why!? Why are you making it harder?! I just wanted to have some money for myself! Can¡¯t you understand it?
¡°Mikori, would you be so kind, and¡¡±
¡°No!¡±
Why!? Why do you think I have gone to this place? You think that I wanted this? I just need you to tell the old lady, that we had some fun while we were buying things she needed. This is the only thing I want! Why do I need to pay more?!
Ehhh.
I looked at the things that this girl behind the counter was selling. I looked at chocolate ice cream, and at the vanilla one. They looked so tasty¡
¡°O-Okay Mikori. Tell this lady, that you want two ice creams.¡± I said, and she smiled at me.
I surrendered. How much can something like this cost anyway? It can¡¯t be that expensive.
¡°What flavour do you want?¡± Mikori asked, and I chose the one that I liked the most.
¡°Chocolate.¡±
When I said that, we approached the girl, that was looking at us weirdly for some reason.
¡°One with chocolate, and one with vanilla please!¡± Mikori said with enthusiasm I have never seen before. Are you always hungry?
¡°Okay, that will be three vlawnias!¡± this lady said, and smiled.
Three?! Three vlawnias?! Why¡ Why would ice cream cost that much?! What are you talking about?!
¡°A-Are you sure, that it costs that much?¡± I asked, and she looked at me.
¡°It¡¯s hard to keep the temperature low in here customer, we need to use a lot of mana to do that, that¡¯s why it costs that much.¡± she said, and waited for me to hand her money.
Wait! Just wait a moment! I can¡¯t pay the amount of three days of my work, for two ice creams!
¡°Mikori, are you sure that you want to eat here? Maybe we should¡¡±
¡°I¡¯m sure! I¡¯m sure!¡± she responded quickly, with a big smile.
She looked happy. She was looking at the ice cream that was behind the glass with a big smile, as if she was going to eat something like this for the first time. She almost looked like a dog.
Eh¡
¡°T-Then¡ H-Here is the m-money¡¡± I said, and handed this girl behind the counter three vlawnias.
Three vlawnias! Three vlawnias!
¡°Ryan, are you so happy that you want to cry?¡± Mikori said, while still smiling.
Why¡ Why did it happen?
Oh, I know why it happened. I have zero luck! It seems that even God hates me. I don¡¯t even know how zero luck supposed to work! If you had zero strength, then you wouldn¡¯t be able to lift anything¡
Then if I have zero luck, does it mean that nothing good will happen in my life?! Never!?
I looked at the happy girl beside me. She was waiting impatiently for her food, with a big smile on her cute face. It seemed that she didn¡¯t care about anything else¡
Well, maybe this isn¡¯t that bad?
¡°Here you go!¡± this lady said, when she handed us the ice cream.
They were given to us in an ice cream cones. I looked at mine, and it reminded me of the times, when I would go with my mother to an ice cream parlor. Well, before she wanted me to disappear from her life. Maybe I shouldn¡¯t buy this anime pillow?
¡°What are you waiting for?¡± Mikori said with a big smile, as she was eating her portion.
I just looked at her, and took a bite. It was delicious.
11. This shop is stupid! Everything is stupid!
I looked at the list in my hand one more time.
Ah¡ We have lost so much money. I want to come back in time! I want to get my money back! Wait¡ It wasn¡¯t even my money.
I don¡¯t care! I want money! Money! Give me money!
¡°Ryan, is something wrong? You look sad.¡± Mikori asked me, while we were walking through the city.
How can you ask me this question!? It¡¯s all your fault! It¡¯s your fault our family is poor! You have eaten our dreams!
¡°T-There is nothing wrong.¡± I responded, and she smiled.
¡°I¡¯m glad. Anyway, what do we need to buy?¡±
When she asked me this, I looked at the list once again. We needed to buy simple things. Some chocolate, sugar, flour¡ Things like this. We didn¡¯t need to buy many of them anyway. I thought that a bakery would need more sugar.
¡°Some simple things needed to bake sweets. Let¡¯s just walk through the city to find them, okay?¡± I said, and she nodded.
Ahh¡ You have eaten our dreams Mikori. What will I tell our children? What will I say, when they ask me ¡°why we don¡¯t have a house?¡±. Why Mikori!?
¡°Anyway Ryan, I wanted to ask you one thing.¡± I heard Mikori¡¯s voice, as we were walking. ¡°Why do you want to become this ¡°NEET¡±?¡±
When I heard it, I looked at her. Is she stupid?
¡°Why would anyone want to become anything else?! I want to be a NEET! I don¡¯t want to work! I don¡¯t want to help! I want to live my life truly.¡±
Yeah! Why would anyone want to work? Why would anyone have dreams? This world is rotten! Everything is rotten! Only my computer, and internet aren¡¯t!
Ohh¡ How I miss my PC¡
¡°B-But Ryan, anyone wants to do something in the future. Didn¡¯t you want to become someone well known when you were small?¡± Mikori asked, still not understanding my point of view.
How could she? She was just a child, that wanted to become an adventurer.
¡°Mikori, the only thing I have ever wanted is money. Money is love, money is life. No money, no life.¡± I said, and she looked at me puzzled. ¡°Monkey put money in shop, monkey get food and shelter. Monkey happy, and monkey doesn¡¯t need to work!¡± as I explained it, she looked at me with anger.
¡°I understood what you meant! How rude!¡±
Are you sure?! Are you!?
¡°Anyway Mikori, I can¡¯t understand why you want to become an adventurer. Is it fun to risk your life?¡± I asked, and waited for her response.
It took her some time, to think about it. Well, it¡¯s not like my question was simple.
¡°I think that it might be¡¡± she finally said.
Is she stupid? She must be stupid?! What did she say?! What did she even say?!
¡°Mikori, did you heard yourself?! Are you sick?!¡± I shouted, and she looked at me with angry eyes.
¡°S-Shut up! It¡¯s not like a NEET like you would understand it!¡±
Yeah! I don¡¯t understand it! Am I the weird one here?! Am I? Can someone answer this question?!
As I was thinking about those things, I approached a shop. It caught my attention, because on the black roof there was a sign saying ¡°Everything you need to bake a chocolate bun, and other things you might do. But mostly sweets, you know¡¡± If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.
What is that?! What is that weird sign?!
¡°Look Ryan! There might be something we need in here!¡± Mikori shouted, when she saw it.
Yeah, I can see your seven intelligence working now Mikori. It¡¯s good for you.
I looked at the shop one more time. It was a big shop, with black roof, and big windows. Behind them, I could see many shelves full of flour, sugar, and other ingredients.
¡°Let¡¯s just buy what we need, and go back.¡± I said, and the girl nodded.
I was tired. I was tired after taking her to eat ice cream. I was tired after walking through this city. I was tired because of this ¡°date¡±. Everything made me so tired. I just want to rest¡ Wait! Do we need to work after we come back?!
¡°Okay Ryan!¡± Mikori replied, and entered the building. I just went after her.
When I did, I was greeted by a big shop. It had many things in it, and one of them was a small girl with pointy ears. She was maybe thirteen, with blonde hair made into a bob, and big blue eyes. She looked cute, really cute.
But is she an owner of this shop? Why is she wearing an apron? Why is she taking care of this shop? What is this place?
¡°You want buy something? If not, get out!¡± she said, with a weird accent.
I looked at her. Should I be angry?
¡°We want to buy something, we not leave!¡± I replied, and she looked at me with anger.
¡°You make fun of me?! This language stupid!¡±
¡°I don¡¯t make fun! I make business!¡± as I said those things, Mikori looked at me with weird eyes.
What? Did I do something wrong? Isn¡¯t it normal to bully children in this place? I thought that this is normal!
¡°Whatever! Just make fast!¡± little girl said, and looked elsewhere.
Is it really my live after getting reborn into another world?! Am I really going to bully small children that run their own shops?! Are you sure that you don¡¯t want to give me a special skill, or a weapon!?
As I thought about those things, I walked through the shop. It had many shelves in it, with white bags, that were signed in a weird language.
¡°Sugaro? Do you think we need this Ryan?¡± Mikori asked me.
¡°I think we need. Also, take the ¡°chocolatoe¡±, and ¡°this weird bronze thing¡±¡± I replied, and the little girl looked at us with angry eyes.
What is wrong with you?! Don¡¯t you like it when people buy from you?!
¡°How many ¡°sugaro¡± do we need?¡±
¡°Two bags Mikori! Don¡¯t forget the ¡°chocolatoe¡±!¡±
¡°Okay!¡±
After taking sugaro, and chocolatoe to the counter, I took out the money.
¡°How much do we pay?¡± I asked, and the girl looked at me.
¡°You pay more, because you bully!¡±
Wait! What!? What are you talking about!? You can¡¯t do things like that!
¡°Do you think that I won¡¯t go to another shop!? The will sell me ¡°sugaro¡± for half the price!¡±
¡°S-Shut up! You stupid! Stupid!¡±
What?! I¡¯m stupid!? Because I have five intelligence!? I¡¯m smarter than you!
¡°You are stupid, you¡ you¡ you bob-head!¡± I said, and the girl looked at me with watery eyes. Did I do something wrong?
¡°Ryan! Shut up! Can¡¯t you be¡¡± Mikori tried to say something, but was interrupted by this little girl.
¡°You stupid! You stupid! You pay more!¡± she cried, and I looked at her.
I knew many things. I have lived my life as NEET, so I know how to trade with other people. Once I bought an anime pillow for half the price, because I knew what to say. This is the kind of person I am, so there is no way I will may more. Yeah, just observe¡
¡
I was walking through the city, with bags of sugar, and other things in my hands. They were heavy, but I didn¡¯t care. I didn¡¯t care, because there was something else on my mind.
¡°It¡¯s your own fault Ryan. If you didn¡¯t bully her, then you wouldn¡¯t need to pay more.¡± Mikori said, as she walked before me.
Why is she carrying less stuff? Because I am a man?! We have the same strength!
¡°You didn¡¯t help much Mikori. We could always find a different shop.¡± I replied, and she looked at me.
¡°Don¡¯t try to shift the blame on me! It¡¯s good that you paid for your own mistakes!¡±
Ehhh¡ We used all the money this old woman has gave us. Every vlawnia we got.
As I entered the ¡°Best sweets in Flark¡± I sighed.
¡°Oh, you came back? Something good happened?¡± old lady asked, and smiled in a weird way.
What are you even talking about?! You are sick!
¡°I don¡¯t want to talk about it¡¡± I replied, and put the bags on the ground.
I just want to sleep! I am a NEET, not a worker!
¡°Hmmm? And you Mikori? How did it go?¡±
I looked at the girl, that was now looking at the old lady. For some reason there was a smile on her face.
¡°Well, I guess it wasn¡¯t that bad.¡± she said in a cheerful voice.
12. First level up!
¡°Mikori, do we need to go today? Are you sure you want to do this? We could stop doing this, you know? We can be¡¡±
¡°Of course I want to do this Ryan!¡±
Why? Why would you want to do this? Why would anyone want to do this?
I was wondering about those things, as I was walking with Mikori to the forest. Let¡¯s call this place a forest of doom, because I feel that something really bad is going to happen in it. You see, when I met Mikori, I told her that I will help her with killing the goblins. This help included luring them to a hole.
¡°Mikori, I don¡¯t feel very well. Mikori! Mikori! I¡¯m sick Mikori! My stomach hurts Mikori!¡± I shouted, but she was just playing with her shovel. It reminded me of the same situation, that took place in the last week.
Yeah, a full week has passed since our ¡°date¡±. In this time I was working, and I got to know this girl. I don¡¯t really want to stay this, but she is probably my first friend in here. Yeah, this weird girl in wizard clothing is my first friend¡
¡°Mikori, please! Let¡¯s stop this madness!¡±
¡°One more word, and I will hit you with this!¡± she just replied, and pointed a shovel at me.
Why are we even taking them with us? Isn¡¯t the hole already dig? I looked around me. We just entered the forest, and now we needed to find this clearing.
¡°Mikori, I¡¯m hungry! Mikori, I¡¯m thirsty! Mikori, I need to take a sh¡¡±
¡°S-Shut up!¡± she shouted, with a red face.
Oh, don¡¯t tell me Mikori, that words like this make you blush. Aren¡¯t you a little too pure?
¡°Mikori, I need to make a number two! Mikori!¡± I was shouting while walking through the forest, and she was just walking before me with a big blush.
It¡¯s weird. My reincarnation is weird! Why I¡¯m not OP? Why I¡¯m not a hero? Why I¡¯m making some stupid jokes about taking a shit? Why is this girl still playing with her shovel? Why did she hit herself one more time!?
¡°Mikori, are you okay?!¡±
¡°S-Shut up! It¡¯s your fault!¡±
When she regained her composure, we continued our walk. It didn¡¯t took us long, and we approached the clearing that we went to a week ago. It had still this big hole in it, and wooden spikes around it.
¡°Okay, now we just need to put the spikes into the hole, and after that we will¡¡±
¡°Don¡¯t you think it¡¯s stupid Mikori? Didn¡¯t we kill them in a normal way before? Can¡¯t we just lure them here?¡± I asked, and she looked at me. It seemed that she was thinking about something, and then she nodded.
¡°Yeah, you are right Ryan! Let¡¯s do just this. But first we need to cover it with some leaves and grass.¡±
Yeah, it was morning right now, so we needed to disguise it. I could risk having it like this in the night, but I don¡¯t think anyone would be that stupid to fall into it in the day.
¡°Mikori, can¡¯t we just eat something? I got some food from this good lady. Look, your favourite cookies! She even gave us some water, so we don¡¯t need to die from thirst in here!¡± I was trying to persuade her, but this time her will was stronger.
¡°No Ryan, we need to do this right now. This is something only we can do!¡± she said, with a really proud face. Who do you think you are? A movie star? ¡°Just leave this basket on the ground, and let¡¯s get to work!¡±
Ahh¡ There is no convincing her.
I did as she told me, and I started looking for weak, and long sticks. When we had many of them, we put them on top of the hole. After that we covered them with grass and leaves. It looked almost like normal ground, but when the goblins would step on it, those weak sticks would break¡The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
Yeah, such a good plan. Now we only needed to¡
¡°Now you only need to lure them here Ryan! I will be waiting for your return!¡± Mikori said, with a big smile.
You monster! You are a monster!
¡°Mikori! I know I told you, that I will do this, but don¡¯t you think it¡¯s too much?! I might lose my life Mikori! Do I really need to do this?!¡±
¡°Of course you need to do this Ryan! I believe in you!¡±
¡°Mikori, please!¡± I asked, but there was nothing I could do. This little girl was a monster, a devil.
¡°Mikori, before I go, I need to tell you something¡¡± I said, and she looked at me.
¡°What is it Ryan?¡±
¡°I still need to make a number two.¡± I said, and she started waving her shovel at me.
¡°S-Shut up! Just go! Just go away!¡± Mikori said, with a big blush, and I did just that.
Why is this girl so aggressive? Shouldn¡¯t little girls be cute, and kind? Is this some trauma from her childhood? Is that why she lives with this old lady? I don¡¯t know much about this world, but I know that even here, teenagers live with their parents. It¡¯s normal, and people do just that.
But when I asked her about this old lady, she told me that she has known her only for a few months.
Maybe she had some problems in her home? I should be kinder to her when I meet her again. Yeah, I should do just that.
As I thought about those stupid things, I entered the forest. I needed to lure the goblins to this clearing. Yeah, I¡¯d rather not do that, but I liked my job too much. Well, maybe not job, but the money I was paid for doing it. I don¡¯t want Mikori to tell this old lady, that I didn¡¯t help her, so she can fire me.
Anyway, how strong those goblins even are? I have ¡°fought¡± with them only one time, and Mikori told me that they are really weak. I would like to trust her, but it¡¯s hard to. Don¡¯t get me wrong, I don¡¯t think Mikori is a bad person, I just think that she is a dumb one.
What!? She has more intelligence than me?! This must be an error in the system, a weird bug, a stupid joke!
Yeah, there is no way I¡¯m dumber than her! I¡¯m just lazy!
¡°Argh! Argh! Uga! Ufff!¡± I heard those weird noises in the forest one more time.
It must be it.
Ahh¡
Should I pray right now? It¡¯s hard to pray, once I saw people that are on the other side. I don¡¯t want Santa Claus to hear my prayers, and it¡¯s not like he ever did. I wonder what he did with my letters? Maybe he burned them?
When I walked for some more time, I could finally see small, green figures dancing among the trees, with their sticks and weird bodies.
How I should lure them? Shout? Show them a middle finger? Would they even understand it?
I hope that Mikori wasn¡¯t lying. I hope that Mikori wasn¡¯t lying. I hope that Mikori wasn¡¯t lying.
Those thoughts went through my mind like a chant, and I shouted.
¡°Hey! You small morons!¡±
When they turned their heads at me, they were greeted by my middle finger. I don¡¯t know if they are just really aggressive, or this middle finger worked, but they started running towards me with really angry faces.
Did I do the right thing?
¡°Hey! Mikori! Mikori!? Hey! Say something!¡± I shouted, as I was running towards the clearing.
Please work. Please work. I don¡¯t want to be beaten! I don¡¯t want to be beaten! Please work!
¡°Here Ryan! Just don¡¯t fall into the trap!¡± Mikori responded, while waving towards me.
Please work! Please work!
I approached the trap, and I ran around it. I could still hear the angry voices of the goblins behind me.
¡°Argh! Ugh! Gah!¡± they were shouting. They were so angry, that they didn¡¯t even stop for a second.
Yeah, they didn¡¯t stop for a second, so they didn¡¯t see the trap we set for them. Once again, about eight goblins have fallen into our trap, and once again they started shouting with angry voices.
¡°Agh! Urgh! Uf!¡±
Hahaha! So stupid! I knew for the beginning that this smart plan would work! I didn¡¯t doubt it even for a second!
¡°Now Ryan! Grab the spike, and kill those dwarfs! We will divide them into two groups, so everyone gets the same experience!¡± Mikori shouted, and started killing them.
She might really be a psychopath!
Well, there wasn¡¯t a reason for me to not listen to her, so I did the same thing as she did. As I killed the last one, and he changed into a crystal, something in me changed.
I felt something in my heart, my mind, and in my stomach. Something has changed. I didn¡¯t know instantly what, but I knew I have become different. In a few seconds, I understood what I felt...
I looked at Mikori, and I started speaking.
¡°I think I leveled up¡¡± I said, and she looked at me with a big smile. She must have been really proud, but there was one different thing I felt also ¡°And I need to make a number two!¡±
13. This level up is... Interesting?
¡°I¡¯m pretty sure that it is a mistake.¡± I said to the girl, that was now laughing.
After killing those goblins, we went back to the adventurers guild, to check out my character card. One more time I signed this weird piece of paper, and one more time my skills, and stats appeared on it.
¡°I-It¡¯s not a mistake¡¡± Eri said, while still laughing.
No! It must be a mistake! This skill¡ It can¡¯t be! Why is this happening?! Is because of my luck?! Is my whole life going to be like this, because of it?

Fast runner
It seems that you are pretty good at running? It''s good I think? Like... for your health?
|
¡°What is this skill?!¡± I shouted, and Eri bursted out with laughter.
¡°I-It¡¯s your skill¡ It s-seems, that you are very good at running!¡±
S-Shut up! Shut up! Don¡¯t say anything!
¡°Don¡¯t worry Ryan, a skill like this will help us with luring goblins¡¡± Mikori didn¡¯t even end her sentence, and Eri started laughing one more time. This time even louder.
Shut up! I don¡¯t want to hear about this! Where is my fireball?! Where is my sword mastery? I want to use a bow! I want to use a spell!
¡°W-Why I have a skill like this!¡± I shouted, and the girl behind the counter looked at me.
¡°The skills are given according to many things. What you have been doing lately, who do you want to become, and¡¡± and what! What?! ¡°A-and¡ a-and your luck!¡± Eri said, and started laughing one more time.
Can you laugh at your customers like this!? Can you?! I will never come back to here! I will never come back! The narrative has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
¡°Ryan, I told you not to worry! This skill will be so useful! Just imagine running from those goblins!¡±
Shut up! Shut up! Everyone shut up!¡±
¡°Y-You can all just disappear!¡± I shouted, and threw the paper at the ground. After that I left running.
Whoa, I¡¯m fast. How fast I¡¯m running? I¡¯m sure I¡¯m faster than before¡
¡°Ryan! Wait! I don¡¯t have skills like you!¡± Mikori was calling me from behind, but I didn¡¯t care.
I just ran. When I opened the door, I saw the city illuminated by the sun.
Where will I go now? What will I do? Why did I receive a stupid skill like this? Those were my thoughts, but I didn¡¯t care. This skill wasn¡¯t that bad¡
Well, I would like to cast some spells, or fight with a sword, but what I can do? I was maybe one and a half times faster. Of course, I was still slower than the fastest man alive, but still, something like this felt amazing.
¡°R-Ryan please! I¡¯m s-slower than you!¡±
I don¡¯t care! I don¡¯t care about anything!
¡°I will run to the end of the world! And I will never come back!¡± I shouted, and looked back. Mikori was still going after me.
¡°R-Ryan please! W-With skills like t-this, we could lure s-so many goblins!¡± she said, trying to take a breath.
So this is who I am to you? A machine designed to lure goblins?! You are a monster! You are a monster!!!
¡°I h-hate you Mikori!¡±
¡°Ryan, p-please stop!¡±
Why was I reborn again?! To kill a demon king?! Am I going to outrun him to death?! Why!? I want to cast a spell! I want to cast a spell!
¡°R-Ryan, stop!¡± I heard Mikori once again.
What does she want from me? Does she want to laugh at me? Or does she want to use me again? Am I just a piece of meat for her? I didn¡¯t want a skill like this!
I thought about those things, and I stopped. With my speed, it took her about three minutes to catch up to me.
¡°R-Ryan, l-listen to me¡¡± she was still trying to catch her breath, when she was near me.
I didn¡¯t respond, and I just waited for a moment, so she could rest.
¡°W-We can, l-lure so many goblins¡¡±
¡°You are a monster!¡± I shouted, and tried to run again, but she catched me with her hand.
¡°N-No, listen R-Ryan! W-We can level up more! W-We can be powerful!¡± she said, and I looked at her.
Hmm, she might be right. But even if she is¡
¡°I don¡¯t want to listen to this! Why have I been even helping you?! I just want to be a NEET!¡± I shouted, but she didn¡¯t want to let me go.
¡°N-No Ryan! You will see! W-We will be rich! We will we powerful!¡±
Who do you want to be?! Should little girls have dreams like this?!
I looked at her, and she was still holding me with her hands. Still trying to catch some air, and still looking at me with those stupid eyes.
Ahhh¡.
¡°O-Okay! It seems that now I won¡¯t be beaten for sure.¡± I said, and she smiled.
¡°R-Really! Ryan, thank you! You are the best!¡±
Of course I am the best! Who do you think I am?
14. A big goblin with a weirdly attractive voice... what?
Whole week. I have spend a whole week killing goblins. I didn¡¯t even help in the shop. This old lady said, that our help isn¡¯t needed that much, and if we want to ¡°try out my new skills¡± then we should do that.
Of course, I protested! I said, that I want a normal work, but you can¡¯t talk with people in this world. They pretend that they don¡¯t hear you, and they just use you! Everyone wants to use you!
¡°M-Mikori, let¡¯s stop!¡± I shouted. I just lured next camp of goblins into our hole, and I was really exhausted.
¡°Stop?! Stop?! Ryan, are you kidding me?! We killed maybe one hundred of them, since we started! I will kill every goblin in this forest!¡± she shouted, and laughed weirdly.
You remind me of someone really bad Mikori. Someone really, really bad.
¡°But Mikori, I can¡¯t do this for the rest of my life! I have dreams, and hopes for the future! I am different than you!¡± I said those things, but she wouldn¡¯t listen to me.
¡°Lure more of them Ryan! Lure them here! We are going to be rich!¡±
What is she even talking about?! We would get more money while working in the shop!
¡°Mikori, I¡¯m hungry! Mikori I¡¯m thirsty! Mikori, I¡¯m tir¡¡± I didn¡¯t end my sentence, because she looked at me with angry eyes.
Ehhh¡
¡°Okay¡ okay¡ I¡¯m going.¡±
Why am I even doing this?! I want to rest! I want to drink some cola! I want to eat some cheetos! I want to sit behind my PC¡
I thought about those stupid things, and I started running. I¡¯m fast, really fast. Because of that I jump higher, and there aren¡¯t many humans that can catch me¡
Yeah, a nice skill¡
As if! I want to be a knight! I want to be a wizard! I want to be a hunter! I want to be feared! I want to be OP! I want to be rich!
I was running through the forest, thinking about those things.
I tried to find some goblins, and then I would lure them to the hole. It was a little weird to me, that I didn¡¯t get even one level up, after killing so many of them. Maybe I need much more experience?
Anyway, the forest was empty. I mean, we were killing goblins in it for a whole week, but I thought that I will find at least one more camp with the goblins in it.
It¡¯s not like I¡¯m sad because of it, on the contrary, I¡¯m happy. Even if running from them with my new skill was really easy, I still didn¡¯t like it at all. Their screams as they were running behind me made me shiver, and their faces are really ugly.
Yeah¡ Nothing good comes from fighting.
I looked around.
I couldn¡¯t find anything. Not one goblin could be seen. It was weird. I don¡¯t think we slaughtered their whole population, or maybe we did? Maybe Mikori really is a dictator, and I¡¯m her right hand?
But she is just a little girl.
¡°Oh, welcome human. It seems that you were looking for my little brothers.¡± I heard a voice behind me. It was a beautiful voice of a man.
It must be someone really handso¡
¡°What?! What¡ What is that?! What!! No! Oh, no!¡± I shouted, as I looked at the thing that was standing behind me.
His posture, face, skin, and eyes were the same as those of a goblin. Yeah, they were the same, but his height was different. He was as tall as me, and I could see his disgusting face clearly. He was standing there with a big club in his hand, and leather armor. This content has been misappropriated from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.
¡°Oh, there is no reason to be afraid human¡¡± he said, and smiled. I could see his yellow teeth.
Uhhh¡ Disgusting!
¡°W-Who are you?! What do you want?!¡± I asked, preparing to run.
¡°You see, it seems that a lot of my kind was murdered in this forest.¡± he said with his weirdly attractive voice ¡°And I want to avenge them. Do you know anything about the person, that killed them?¡±
What?! What?! What is this?!
¡°O-Oh I¡ I don¡¯t know anything¡¡±
Any moment now¡ Any moment now, and I will run¡
Just turn around for a moment, so I will have an advantage¡
I don¡¯t want to die! I don¡¯t want to die! I don¡¯t want to die! How fast is he?! Maybe I will outrun him?! Yeah! I¡¯m faster! I¡¯m fast! Hahaha!
I don¡¯t want to die!
¡°Oh, really? That¡¯s weird¡¡± there was hint of irritation in his weirdly attractive voice ¡°Because I thought that you were that person¡¡±
No! No!
¡°Mikori! Help me!¡± I shouted, as I ran through the forest.
I could feel his breath behind me. He was fast. As fast as me, and for sure he was stronger.
¡°Don¡¯t run little lamb! There is no need for you to suffer! Let¡¯s do it like gentlemen!¡±
What?! Are you kidding me?! There is nothing gentle about it!
¡°Mikori! Please! I don¡¯t want to die!¡±
Where is this stupid mage, when I need her?! She is not even a mage! What have I been doing!? Why I¡¯m even helping her?! I knew that something like was going to happen sooner or later! Oh my God! Oh my God! He¡¯s disgusting! What he will do to my body?! No! No!
I don¡¯t want to die! I¡¯m a teenager! I want to live! I want to fall in love! No!
¡°You are pretty fast!¡± I heard his weirdly attractive voice once more.
Shut up! Shut up!
¡°Mikori!¡±
¡°Come here! Ryan!¡±
Yeah¡ Yeah¡ safety¡ Wait! It¡¯s not safe at all! This hole is too small! Oh no! Oh no! Oh no!
¡°Oh, I see that there is another one with you! Good! Good!¡±
Stop! Stop with this attractive voice!
I thought about those weird things, as I ran to Mikori. With my new speed, it didn¡¯t take long, and then I jumped across the hole.
He¡¯s not stupid! He¡¯s not stupid! He knows that this is a hole for sure! He knows for sure!
¡°Wait! What is this!? Stop!¡± I heard a weirdly attractive voice behind me.
Did he fell into it? No! There is no reason to be happy! He¡¯s big! He will get out of it, and then he will kill us! We need to run!
¡°Fast! Mikori!¡± I shouted, and started running, but the stupid girl was just standing there ¡°What are you doing Mikori!? Do you want to die?! I won¡¯t die with you! I won¡¯t die with you!¡± I said, and looked behind me.
When I did, I understood why she wasn¡¯t running.
This big goblin was trying to get out of the hole, but he couldn¡¯t. His arms were too thin, and he looked at us with anger.
¡°What are you looking at? When I get out of here¡¡±
¡°Kill him! Kill him fast! Do it now Mikori! Kill this little shit!¡± I shouted, and grabbed one of the spikes.
¡°Of course Ryan.¡± she just responded with a smile. She really is a psychopath!
¡°W-Wait, guys! I was joking! D-Don¡¯t¡ N-No¡ Not here¡ A-Aaaa!!¡±
Die! Die! Die! Dissappear! Disgusting! Die!
How many hits are going to take? Are you that strong?! Die! You know how scared I was?! I hate you! I hate you!
¡°Hit him harder Mikori! Hit him harder!¡±
Die! Die!
¡°Please¡ stop! I¡ I¡¡±
You think I care?! You stupid, large goblin with a weirdly attractive voice! All large goblins with weirdly attractive voices should just die!
¡°Wait here Ryan! I will go for another spike!¡±
¡°Good idea Mikori! Take one for me also!¡±
Stupid, green shit! I thought that I was going to die! You know how scared I was?! I¡¯m just a sensitive boy! I¡¯m vulnerable!
¡°Hit him in the eye! Hit him in the eye!¡± I shouted, and the goblin looked at us in terror.
It took us ten minutes to kill him. Ten really enjoyable minutes. Oh no, I¡¯m not a psychopath like this girl. I don¡¯t enjoy killing. Yeah, this was just a revenge!
Unfortunately, the one dealing the last hit was Mikori. When she killed him, he looked at me with a big smile.
¡°I leveled up! I leveled up! I did it! I did it Ryan!¡± she was shouting, but there was something far more interesting.
Yeah, there was something far more interesting in this hole now.
A white crystal, that was twenty times bigger than those of the small goblins...
15. Experience potion
¡°H-Hey! Come back here! You can¡¯t just take it with you!¡± Mikori shouted, running after me.
I can¡¯t? I can¡¯t?! I¡¯m doing it! Hahaha! I¡¯m doing it!
¡°Can¡¯t run after me? It¡¯s too bad you are slow!¡± I responded, and ran with the crystal in my hands.
It¡¯s big! It¡¯s so big! I¡¯m going to be rich! I¡¯m going to be rich!
¡°R-Ryan! Stop!¡±
¡°What?! You want to get some money from me?! Didn¡¯t you get a level up?! I deserve this money!¡±
¡°O-Okay! Just stop!¡±
Hahaha, I knew that she will resist, but I don¡¯t¡
Wait, what?
¡°What did you say?¡± I stopped running, and looked at her. She was far away from me, running with two shovels, and a basket in her hands. She was pissed, really pissed. Can¡¯t say that I don¡¯t understand her. I would be too.
¡°What did you say Mikori? Did you say okay? I¡¯m sure you said okay Mikori.¡± I started talking, when she approached me, but she didn¡¯t respond for some time, because she was trying to catch her breath.
¡°Mikori! Mikori! Say something! I want to know! Mikori!¡±
¡°S-Shut up f-for a moment!¡±
Sorry¡
I looked at the girl, that was breathing heavily near me. She was a little sweaty, and she leaned against one of the shovels.
She¡¯s cute. Yeah, what a cute girl¡ I hope that she could disappear, so I can get all this money for myself.
¡°L-Listen to me Ryan¡¡± she finally started speaking, as she looked at me ¡°Y-You can take it¡ I took the last h-hit¡ So y-you can take t-the money¡ and use i-it to buy a potion¡¡± she said, and smiled.
What?! What a good girl you are Mikori! I love you Mikori! Let me kiss you! I want to kiss you¡
Wait! Buy a potion? Do I even need a potion? What happened the last time, when I leveled up? Was it something good? I don¡¯t remember being happy about it!
¡°Wait a moment Mikori¡ What if I don¡¯t want to buy a¡¡±
¡°Then I will tell everyone in the city, that you wanted to touch me.¡±
Wait! No! What are you talking about!? A demon! You are a demon! Are you really just a little girl? Are you?
Girls are scary! Scary!
As I thought about those stupid things, Mikori handed me one of the shovels.
¡°Take it, we need to go back.¡± she said, and we did just that.
When we were returning to the city, I thought about many things. I know that Mikori said, that I should buy a potion of experience for the money, but I don¡¯t know how much money I will get for this crystal. It¡¯s big and all, but I¡¯m not sure it¡¯s worth one hundred vlawnias. It¡¯s not like Mikori would know this...
There were other problems too. Why did this goblin appear in this forest? I have never seen a thing like this? Is it a punishment for our sins?
¡°Mikori, do you think that we are the bad ones?¡± I asked, and she looked at me puzzled.
¡°What are you talking about? We are the adventurers! We are the most honorable people in this world!¡± she said proudly.
I¡¯m not sure about that. I¡¯m not sure about that at all Mikori. Sometimes it feels, as if we are the bad ones. Of course, this stupid goblin was scary, and I¡¯m glad we killed him. Yeah, I¡¯m glad we killed him! He should have suffered more! A stupid goblin¡ Wait! I didn¡¯t mean it!
¡°Ryan, are you worried about something?¡±
¡°N-No I¡¯m not¡¡±
¡°Are you hungry? Do you want one bun with chocolate?¡±
¡°No¡ I mean, I would like to eat one.¡±
Yeah, a bun with chocolate. Let¡¯s not think about stupid things, and eat something good. Something good¡ Hmm¡ I love those buns. This old lady is a genius!
Someone who gives me something so good, can¡¯t be bad.
As I ate the bun, we entered the city.
Some of the people looked at us, as I was now carrying a big crystal. They seemed to be surprised. What?! You thought that we were the stupid ones? Look! Look at me now! I am the God of this world! Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
¡°Look Mikori, everyone is looking at us.¡± I said to the mage beside me, but it seemed like she noticed it even before me.
How did I know it? Her face was red. Really red. It was so red, that she took off her hat, and covered her face with it. It was cute, but only a little.
¡°Oh, Mikori! I didn¡¯t know that you are a shy girl like that! It¡¯s cute! So cute! Mikori is cute!¡± I shouted, and she stepped on my foot.
Ouch! It hurts! Stupid mage! Not cute! Not cute at all!
¡°S-Shut up¡¡± she said, while still covering her face.
I don¡¯t understand. I mean, I am a NEET, so I don¡¯t like when people look at me, but doing something like this? Aren¡¯t you a bigger hikikomori than me? Or is it something else?
¡°Something happened Mikori?¡± I asked, and she looked at me.
Red! So red! Mikori is red!
¡°I-I¡¯m happy, that they know, that we are true adventurers.¡± she said, but I couldn¡¯t really understand her.
¡°Didn¡¯t we kill goblins before Mikori?¡±
¡°W-We did, but this is something else. A crystal like this¡ It was a normal monster, not something for beginners.¡±
Was it? I mean, he was hard to kill. It took us many minutes of constant stabbing to kill him, but was he really a true monster?
And what if I was scared?! He still fell into our trap, and died like others! Yeah, we are on the top of the food chain!
¡°Don¡¯t worry Mikori, we are the best.¡± I said, and she looked at me puzzled.
Yeah, there is no need for you to understand. And what if people with super swords, and powerful skills kill stronger monsters?! We are trully curageous! We fight for our lives, while dealing with those goblins! Well, mostly me¡
¡°Oh! If it isn¡¯t Ryan! Why did you come here today? Want to ask adventurers for help with this girl? Or maybe¡¡± Eri stopped speaking, when she saw what I was carrying ¡°Let me take a look at this.¡±
Hmmm? Are we true adventurers now? Are we?
¡°As if we would give you something so valuable, I will give this to another¡¡± I hit Mikori on the head, because she was saying some really stupid things, and gave Eri the crystal.
It was big, so it took her some time to take a better look at it. When she finally did, she looked at me.
Please, don¡¯t be worth one hundred vlawnias. I can always tell Mikori, that I needed to spend this money on other things. But to do that, this thing must be worth less than one hundred vlawnias.
It won¡¯t be worth one hundred vlawnias for sure!
¡°Hmmm¡ Crystals of this size are normally worth about twenty vlawnias.¡± she started speaking, and I smiled. Yeah, there is no need to have one hundred vlawnias, if I need to spend them on a potion. I know now, that leveling up in this world sucks! I know it! I just need to have some money for myself! ¡°But this one is rare. You see this red thing?¡± she said, as she pointed at something really small on the crystal.
No, no, no!
¡°This is the crystal of revenge. Monsters that were born from hatred, and desire for revenge drop crystals like that¡ I see things like that very rarely¡ Just what have you been doing in this forest?¡± Eri said, with a worried look.
You don¡¯t want to know! Anyway, how much is it worth?!
¡°Taking this into consideration, this one will be worth about sixty vlawnias¡¡± she said, and I wanted to jump from happiness.
There is no need to buy the potion! I will use this money however I want! If Mikori asks, I will tell her, that I had something urgent to pay for, and I couldn¡¯t buy the potion!
Wait, why is she happy? Why is this wizard girl happy?
¡°Then give us one potion of experience!¡± Mikori said, and both me and Eri looked at her puzzled.
¡°E-Eeee¡ You see Mikori, I can¡¯t sell you a potion if you only have sixty vlawnias¡¡± Eri wanted to say something else, but was interrupted by this wizard girl.
¡°I have saved some money, while I was working in ¡°normal¡± work. Just wait for me here, and I will get it.¡± she said, and I looked at her.
¡°A-Are you sure you want to do this? It¡¯s your m-money Mikori. There is no need¡¡±
¡°What are you talking about Ryan!? We are partners now! We need to get stronger! I got the last hit, so you will take the potion! Anyway, before I go, can I have one of the tests?¡±
No! No! You don¡¯t understand me! I don¡¯t want to be partners!
Wait¡ Test? I almost forgot about it¡
¡°Here you go. Just write your name¡¡±
¡°I k-know how to do this!¡±
She leveled up. She leveled up! Hahaha! She¡¯s going to get a stupid skill too! Something like ¡°digging¡±! I¡¯m sure of it! Hahah! O-Or maybe making pointy sticks from the wood!
Hahaha!
¡°Look Ryan! Look!¡±
Hahaha! Maybe she will get a skill, that makes her¡.
¡°Look!¡±
Ahhh¡ What is that? Can¡¯t you see that I¡¯m thinking about¡
Wait!!!

It¡¯s not fair! It¡¯s not fair! I want something like this too! Hey! It¡¯s not fair!
I looked at the girl behind the counter. She was smiling.
¡°Hey! This isn¡¯t fair, is it?!¡±
¡°As I said before customer¡¡±
¡°I don¡¯t care! Give me the potion! I¡¯m going to drink it! Mikori, go for the money! I¡¯m going to drink a potion!¡±
I¡¯m going to lose to this girl?! No way! I will be stronger!
¡°R-Ryan¡ You want to travel with me so much?! I-I¡¯m going! I¡¯m going! I¡¯ll be back in a minute!¡± Mikori shouted, as she left the building.
I was now alone in the guild, and Eri was just looking at me with a smile. For some reason it irritated me.
¡°What?¡±
¡°Nothing, it¡¯s just nice to be young¡¡±
Want me to hit you?!
