《Power! by Eextreme》 Chapter 1: A new beginning Chapter 1: A new beginning Derek, a normal person wearing glasses, in his early 20s, was working in his cabinet. It was a bleak and confined place. There were no windows since he was near the center of the room. It was, 5:30pm and almost time to leave ¡°Derek,¡± one of the managers came over and said, ¡°there is some work left for this project, but the person responsible for it left early for an urgent meeting. Since, you are one of our better employees, would you minding finishing this up before you leave; there is only a bit left. Derek wanted to decline since after saving for several month he finally managed to buy a Royal Road equipment set and after spending most of the evening setting up yesterday it was ready for the weekend. *Pflop* A stack of papers about 30 cm high was dropped off at the side of the table. ¡°Thanks for your help. We¡¯ll make sure you are rewarded for your hard work¡± and promptly left Derek didn¡¯t have a choice; he never had one since he was one of new employees at the company everyone else has already been there for at least 3 years. As a full time employee, there was no overtime pay, yet if any of the work was leftover he was the first to receive the blame. That was the political structure at his company. It was 9:00pm when he finished all the work. It was 9:30 when he finally got home. Immediately, he put on the virtual reality equipment and logged in for the first time. *** The moment it was switched on he was pulled down into a white room, and the character creation screen. He wanted to get started right away so he skipped the tutorial, and quickly selected the options. In the end, he chose the human race; He looked exactly as how he would in real life, but with a bit more muscle tone. ¡°Select a location from where you want to start¡±
- Morata - Citadel of Serabourg - Kallamore Kingdom
¡ He remembered from the TV shows that Morata was a great place to start off for new players since its creation and was even better after the war with the Northern Alliance. Without a doubt, this was the place he wanted to start off in, especially since Lord of Morata, Weed, was the top player from the game Continent of Magic. Victory against impossible odd from the northern alliance, and the benevolent war resolutions only further displayed the overwhelming power and good will of the ruler. ¡°Morata¡± Derek said ¡°As a new player what will be your name?¡± ¡°Derek Skylorn¡± ¡°You will be a human starting out in the city of Morata do you want to change anything?¡± ¡°No¡± ¡°Thank you and have a great time¡± The moment the character was confirmed, Derek appear in the center of the city. The center city was busy with activity. Checking his inventory he had a canteen and 10 pieces of rye bread. The amount was good enough for him to last one week in Royal road. Based on some beginner guides he found online, everyone starts off by doing quests from NPCs around the town. He wanted to start questing right away but he had a strong desire to visit the Mage tower first. The mage class was one of the most powerful classes in the game, with enough power to wipe out whole armies. It is a difficult class to start with but it has the most potential later on. Derek quickly ran to the Mage Tower, just opening the door the first floor was filled with numerous bookshelves containing scrolls, books and tomes. The room was adequately filled with people dressed in robe and garments related to the mage profession. He tried to walk through the door but collided heavily with an invisible wall *Tring
By walking into a wall you are dealt 10 damage
What wall? He felt the air in front of him and found something solid. He pushed against but it didn¡¯t budge. there was no one else nearby This isn¡¯t possible. Everyone should have access to this building. Was there a quest that you need do to get in. No, this is one of the beginner classes. He pushed against the invisible wall with more force but it didn¡¯t budge. He punched the wall and a message appeared
You took 5 damage
Laughter can be heard from somewhere inside. Someone was intentionally denying his entrance to the tower and he was powerless to do it anything about it. This moment was reminiscent of all the time he just watched as another person was getting beaten up. No matter how much he wanted to help he never had the courage to do anything. I won¡¯t suffer the same thing again. Derek took several steps backed and rushed at it. He collided heavily with the wall to no avail and was tossed back
You took 30 damage. You have 55 hp left.
A group of people inside was still laughing. In his rage he moved back and rushed again and was repelled
You took 30 damage. You have 25 hp left.
He felt weaker but rushed again
You took 10 damage. Your health is at 10
The laughing from the inside stop and there were murmurs of hesitation inside. Derek rushed again. ¡°Drop it¡± someone inside said with urgency, ¡°You don¡¯t want to get a murder mark do you?¡± When Derek was about to hit the wall again, but the field disappeared and he stumbled through. He sat on the ground feeling weak and tried to look for the culprits responsible for the wall but everyone was facing the other way. A joke gone wrong. Moments later the instructor, who wore light blue robes, appeared at the desk, finally noticing what transpired. She quickly walked toward the fallen figure. Derek was barely breathing. She walked toward him and quickly restored his health. She looked around for the culprits but they were long gone. ¡°Are you okay?¡± She asked After regaining some control over his breathing he said ¡®Yes¡¯ ¡°It was very reckless for you to try and break that wall at your level what were you thinking?¡± ¡°Not much, just reliving a similar moment in the past and neglecting the truth before me. I¡¯m sorry if I caused any trouble.¡± She was taken back by the humble response. ¡°No, it is my fault for not paying attention. By the way, my name is Tera.¡± ¡°Derek, thank you for saving me¡± *Ting
Your familiarity with Instructor Tera has went up by 10
Tera helped Derek to his feet and they proceeded to her desk ¡°You must have been very desperate to get into the tower. Especially since this is the first place that you visited. Do you want to become a mage?¡± *Ting
You have been given the option to change your class to a Mage As a mage you¡¯ll be able to learn spells from scrolls, tomes, and books scattered through the world as long as you have the required intelligence and wisdom. You gain +5 to Wisdom and Intelligence. These stats will increase more than your other stats as you level. You will gain the stat Willpower, this will determine the spells you can cast, the damage you can do, and reduces the magic damage you take. You will learn the spells: Firebolt, and Icebolt
It was the class Derek is going for but something was missing. Taking this class means he will be almost useless without mana. Also from online sources the investment to purchase spellbooks and so forth becomes higher and higher as he levels which forces him to specialize in one type of magic. Derek wanted to master every magic while saving as much money as possible. ¡°No thanks, I am looking for something more¡± Derek said
You have declined the class change option
¡°Hmm, what kind of class are you looking for?¡± She said, ¡°I was sure with your enthusiasm, you would choose this class.¡± ¡°My ideal class is along those lines, but don¡¯t you feel that reusing the spells that others have made before you is sort of boring? Even though higher spells do more damage and easier to use, would it not be much more interesting if you can do the same thing but with something completely original? I feel that magic should be able to do a lot more than doing damage. I want to do everything possible with magic.¡± ¡°I like your passion. I know something that can help you along the path. However, it will not be easy. Even if you obtain that role, it will be a while before you can even use the most basic spells offered to you as a mage. Do you still want to walk along this path?¡± If you spot this narrative on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation. *Tring
The Great wizards of the Nifelheim Empire In the ancient days of the Nifelheim Empire, there were great wizards who had everything within their power, they could control every physical thing before their eyes at will. However, how they did it was never revealed. When the Empire fell, all their works were scattered throughout the continent in the form of books and scrolls and even monsters. To this day their works have never been recovered. Magic was soon replaced by written and spoken phrases. The origin of those phrases were lost. Difficulty level E Quest requirements: Find out about the Great Wizards of the Nifelheim Empire Quest Rewards: Unknown
¡°Yes, I will walk down that path no matter what¡±
You have accepted the quest
To Derek, the quest was very ambiguous. The Nifelheim Empire is new since the North only accessible recently. Even Morata was no older than a year. As all investigation start off, Derek started asking NPCs about the Great Wizards of the Nifelheim. As expected many of the younger NPCs knew nothing about. He then turned to the books at the Mage Tower. There were millions of book in the library, over half of them were incomprehensible and was no use to him. The ones he can read mentioned nothing about the Great Wizards. One day, past midnight in Royal Road, while sitting near the fairy pond and thinking about other sources of information within the city, he caught a glimpse of light moving toward the pond. It danced around the pond for a bit and proceeded to where he was sitting. It looped around his head for a moment. There was no sound so Derek didn¡¯t know what to next. The ball of light started moving towards a direction, it looked back and paused as if it was trying to tell Derek to follow. Still uncertain, but without a clear lead at the moment, Derek followed the ball of light. It lead him through a series of building and finally vanished at the astronomy building. So this must be where I could find the information about the Great Wizards. The building was newly constructed but it first appeared in during the Ahreupen Empire, which Derek assumed the Great Wizard lived in before. He went inside but found nothing out of the ordinary. He looked around and felt more any hidden mechanism inside the building. It was a big building so it took him 2 days to search the whole thing. Yet, he didn¡¯t find anything. Whenever he got tired of searching, during the evening, he would look at the sky through the telescope. One day, during a full moon, he decided to see if he can use the telescope to make out the details on the moon. It was a beautiful sight but nothing else came about. Leaving the telescope pointed at the moon her continued searching. At the beginning of dawn, he heard a click nearby and at that instant something moved. He quickly located the sound and found a crevice underneath the chair where he sat. He reached into it and felt a scroll. He picked it up and unrolled it right away.
With countless observations it clear that the stars are at least billions years. Compared to that we are no older than a few thousand, ten thousand if we stretch it beyond belief. From our nearest star it gives us near unlimited energy to grow and learn. What are such thing made out of, what gives them such power? I believe they are made out of everything that we can see fire, water, earth, wind, light, and darkness they are the core of our world and from them anything can be made. One day, I hope to make something as great as the sun. I¡¯ll harness the origins and create the uncreatable. - Apprentice Maphis
From the other sources, Maphis was a renowned water mage able to bend water completely to his will with the ability to cause massive whirlpools, and tsunamis. But these days, any water mage can perform those things as long as he or she has enough mana to cast it and gold to buy it. To think that Maphis started off as an apprentice astronomer was unbelievable. You completed ¡°The Great Wizards of the Nifelheim Empire¡± Right after the scroll disintegrated in his hand. Derek was shocked for a moment as it dissipated but as long as the quest was complete it was fine. He quickly ran to the mage tower to turn in the quest. Even before he arrived, instructor Tera was right beside the door waiting for him. ¡°I see you have finished the quest.¡± She said. ¡°How did you know?¡± Derek said ¡°When I felt a possession of my great great grandfather disappear, I knew someone found it¡± ¡°Your great great grandfather was the Mage Maphis?¡± ¡°Yes, but these day standing out too much isn¡¯t a good idea, there still hundreds of descendants who want to take revenge on what he did. Come in to my room and we can discuss it in detail.¡± Tera ted Derek into her study. Once there Derek asked. ¡°He was notorious?¡± ¡°No, everyone feared him for what he was capable even his own allies turned on him so they can be rid of his threat. Those that went against him all died and proceeded to fuel generation of people who wanted his head. So one day, he faked his death and disappeared from the continent. He was a very gentle person, he never wanted to kill anyone using his powers, but everyone was trying to kill him so he had no choice. Water manipulation is only a small fraction of what he was capable of. If he wanted he could tear the continent apart himself.¡± Derek was astonished about what even one of the Great Wizards can do. ¡°The origin of his abilities were passed onto me by my mother. Even now after decades of practice, I¡¯ve barely able to do much with it and settle for something more stable. But I want to you to carry on my dream of becoming a great wizard. Do you accept?¡± *Tring

If enough people find out about it your life could get pretty difficult, furthermore there will be people who will do anything to get you to work for them. Be careful. I have great hopes for you. An A level quest with an opportunity to become even more powerful. Exactly what Derek was looking for. ¡°I will try my best, ¡± Derek said, ¡°Maybe I can even get him to send you a letter.¡± Tera smiled and said, ¡°I look forward to it, you are free to come anytime if you need any help.¡±
Your familiarity with Tera increased by 100.
¡°Thanks, I hope to see you again, and share my progress¡± Derek waved goodbye and proceeded to the training hall soon after. The real hard work starts now, four weeks of hitting the scarecrow to raise my stats. I¡¯ll need to make it eight since I will also be practicing spellweaving, half and half, this should be a great way to prepare before heading out. Derek knows that it will be difficult but he is determined to do everything necessary so he will be powerful enough to do anything he want. Chapter 2: The essence of magic Spellweaver. Just the name of the class itself is enough to be surprised at it potential. Magic is no longer limited to casting fire or ice spells (which usually do the most damage), all the elements in the world is within his control even the element of light and dark which are often limited to clerics and necromancers. ¡°Skill window¡± *tring

Looking over each skill carefully, he was very happy that he is able to get free stats from leveling the skills in his class. The only difficult part was that he had no idea how to start; he noticed too late that when he switched to class that he was not given any spells to practice with. He decided to put the thought aside for a bit and headed to the training hall. There were a lot more than before since, by this point, everyone knew that hitting the scarecrow for four weeks would allow them to gain the sword mastery skill, an nice iron sword, and a bonus upon completing basic training. Well, they all practiced with one sword, maybe if I do it with two swords I can complete it twice as fast. He didn¡¯t know how wrong his assumptions were. Using two swords looks cool in movies but trying actually attack with both weapons was harder then it seemed. Furthermore, it consumed twice as much stamina to attack and as a new player he was only able to attack the scarecrow 20 times before he was exhausted. He replenished some stamina by drinking water and eating some food but it dropped just as fast. It was hard to do it for a long time. Nonetheless, Derek persisted and after a while it became easier. After about 4 hours he decided to take break. In those for hours, he managed to raise his strength, and vitality by 1, and dexterity and agility by 2. During the break, he had a quick lunch, and pulled up the details for the essence of fire. The details didn''t explain how the skill can be improved. Thus, starting from scratch Derek decided to observe fire. It was all over the place but its luminosity differed depending on what it was contained in. He looked at it and wondered how he can manipulate fire. Finding a quiet location, he lit a candle. Concentrating, he willed the fire to burn brighter.
The essence of fire skill increased by 10%
The candlelight flickered and become stronger. If I can make it larger I can use it in battle He put more concentration in it to increase its side. He felt his mana decrease as he did so.
I am doing the right thing. Now flare!
He put willed the fire to rise as much as it can, and it sent up a dispersed flame into the air almost hitting the ceiling. *Tring
You have created the spell "Flame". It allows you to send a weak burst of fire in a target direction as long as there is a source of fire nearby. Damage: 1-10 Mana: 20 Having created your first fire spell your understanding of the essence of fire increased by 1 level You gained 5 health and 1 strength Your spellweave skill rose by 10%
Hurray, I got my first spell. It is completely unreliable but at least I got an idea of how to practice them. Now let''s try the same thing with water. Find this and other great novels on the author''s preferred platform. Support original creators! Derek filled a bowl with water and concentrated. The only thing he can come up with at the moment is to cause a ripple on the surface of the water. Using more of his concentration he managed to caused a large splash in the bowl of water. *tring
You have created the spell "Splash." It allows you to cause a pool of water to splash water nearby. Damage: 0-? Mana: 20 Although it is a useless spell. It has potential. Being your first water spell your understanding of the essence of water increased by 1 level. You gained 5 mana and 1 wisdom. Spellweave skill rose by 10%
Now earth. Derek placed a seed on the table and willed it to grow. Nothing happened for a while but the drain on his mana indicated that something is happening after draining his mana to about one-quarter the seed opened up and the plant started to grow. *tring
You have created the spell "Grow." It allows you to accelerate the growth of plants. Damage: 0-? Mana: 40 (increasing the mana spent will increase the speed of growth) With enough mastery of this spell you''ll be able to summon plants to damage and ensnare your targets. Being your first spell your understanding of the essence of earth increased by 1. Being a more notable spell, you gain 10 stamina, and 3 vitality The spellweaver skill rose by 10%
Now wind. Derek opened a window and felt a gentle breeze go past his face. Soon after, he was at loss as to how to practice using wind. Unlike fire, water and earth there was no physical thing to manipulate. There was only feeling as the wind went by. He then imagined the feeling of wind lifting him into the air. Nothing happened but still a message appeared. *tring
You created the spell "Float". It will eventually allow you to hover a few centimeters above the ground. But due to your lack of skill and mana you will only feel a slight breeze move around your feet. Damage: 0-? Mana: 100/sec This is a spell created from your desire to fly. It is currently weak but with effort you can fly all over the world. Being the origin of a much stronger spell your understanding of the essence of wind increased by 150%. Both your dexterity and agility increased by 2 Your spellweaving skill increased by 15%
He wanted to continue but after creating several spells he was mentally drained. I''ll practice with light and darkness later. But I''ve already given myself more than enough practice for now. After closing his eyes and relaxing for a moment he headed back to the training hall to continue practicing his skills with two swords; determined to use both of them to the best of his ability. For the next four weeks, he alternated between practicing his dual-wielding skills and the magic that he created. Once he ran out stamina from practicing he would sit down near the scarecrow and practice the spell "flame." This required him to have a source of fire on him in order to work. The spell was very hard to control in the beginning and there were even times it backfired, but with practice he was able control the direction of the spell. His magic resist to fire also increased, when ever he got hit by his own spell. Even his understanding of the essence of fire increased when he lit himself on fire with the spell. It was often an amusing show whenever it backfired. Luckily, he always had some water nearby when it happened. For the other half of the day he practiced his other spells in secret. At the end of the fourth week he decided to go out of the city and hunt some rabbits. His only attack spell, ¡°Flame¡±, was leveled to the extent that it will be useful in battle. Nonetheless, he had to carry a torch with him at all times in order for it to work. The number of times he can cast the spell isn¡¯t only limited to his mana pool but also how long the torch would remain lit. I can use this spell a maximum of 10 times as long as the torch remains lit. If I don¡¯t miss any of them I should be able to complete the quest of collecting rabbit pelts in one sitting. But due his lack of combat experience it took a lot longer than he expected. Numerous times the rabbit would just hop out of the way when he moved the torch close to it and cast the spell. He had to train himself to practice predicting where it would jump in order for the spell to hit. Furthermore, he never managed to get a direct hit on the rabbit. In return, he would feel the wrath of a partially scorched angry rabbit. In about, 4 hours he managed to collect 10 rabbit pelts for the quest.

Derek was hesitant to use Mimic because he had no idea how much even a spell costs, there is chance for him to lose health while using it as well. He needed to find someone who is willing to show him some spells or skills.
All I need to do is find a party then I can practice with them. With my current spells and stats I should be able to do okay.
He headed to the center plaza, and shouted, ¡°Fire mage looking for a party to hunt wolves.¡± The center plaza was really busy and someone came over in a moment. ¡°Hi, I¡¯m Martin. We are just looking for a mage, want to join us?¡± Martin said ¡°Okay¡± ¡°What level are you?¡± ¡°Level 3¡± ¡°It will be a bit difficult at that level hunting wolves. But we are fine since my brother who is level 10 is leading our party.¡±
Would you like to join the Party ¡°Infinity¡±?
Yes | No
"Yes" ¡°We¡¯re are at the gates, lets go!¡± After, 4 week of preparation, Derek joined his first party and set out to complete the slightly harder quest of hunting wolves. Chapter 3: Copycat Fighting wolves, they had a lot more health than the rabbits and they do a lot more damage. For Derek, he was certain he would die in 1 or 2 hits from them. Luckily, Martin¡¯s brother, Dinas was a warrior and had very nice equipment for a level 10 at the moment, and was taking the brunt of the damage. In the party, there was an archer, healer, warrior and a mage. It was the ideal party for hunting wolves. They were hunting very cautiously by pulling a nearby wolf and then attacking it when it wandered near the party. The battle took a while but the party¡¯s health always managed to stay above 70%. For the first fight, Derek just watched the party brutally murder a single wolf. The archer, Hans, who was lv 6, would use the skill ¡°Crippling shot¡± on the wolf and it would slow it down, and sometimes even stop it from moving and then Dinas would beat it to a pulp right after. If the shot missed or failed to activate, Dinas would taunt the wolf to focus on him and Hans would try it again. Any damage received would be healed immediately by the lv 7 Priest, Martin. Derek just stood in the back and watched. Unlike other mages, who can firebolt from farm away, if he wanted to do damage, he would have to walk up to melee range of the wolf, and hold out a torch in front of him and cast the spell. Animals were afraid of fire but once they get over it he is dead meat. The wolves with at least 125 health would require him to cast the flame spell at least 5 times to kill it assuming all of them were a direct hit. I feel so weak at the moment. Why is this class so hard to start off, I really hope this class become exponentially stronger later on. His teammates also noticed Dereks inaction and wondered. ¡°Why are you not casting spells?¡± Martin asked A good excuse come on. ¡°I don¡¯t want to draw its attention, that thing can one shot me if it wants to,¡± Derek said, ¡°that thing is 5 levels higher than me at the moment.¡± ¡°Still, you have to hit it at least once, otherwise you won¡¯t get very much experience.¡± ¡°Fine, magic missile¡± Derek said, but he used mimic to cast the smite spell that the priest used before, it dealt it 5 damage instantly but drained ? of his mana. ¡°That is the fastest magic missile I¡¯ve seen. Why don¡¯t you use it more often.¡± ¡°It¡¯s an enhanced version of the normal magic missile, and costs a lot more mana to cast, so I try not use it often.¡± Perfect excuse ¡°Cool¡± Martin said completely oblivious to the fact that it dealt a meager 5 damage to the wolf as Dinas finished it off.
You have leveled up. Int+1, Wis+1, Mana+20 Mimic went to 30% You have used a light spell ¡°Smite¡±, Essence of light increased by 50% Being the most basic spell, you have learned ¡°Smite¡± Smite: Deal minor light damage instantly to a target. Does double damage to the undead. Damage increases with intellect and faith Current dmg: 10-30 Mana: 30
Derek was astonished at the fact that he was able to learn a spell from other classes. With the spell, he finally had a way to deal damage from a far. The rest of the hunt went faster since because of the spell he just learnt. While hunting he also learned the ¡°Heal¡± spell and the level of the Essence of Light went to 2 because of it.
Heal: Restore a small amount of health to a friendly unit, or deal the same amount to a undead. Amount restored increases with wisdom, intellect and faith. Heal: 10-40 health Mana: 40
It is smooth sailing from here onward. The mimic spells even managed to pick up the skills used by the archer and the warrior. Crippling shot, and Bash, respectively but he wasn''t able to use any of them since he didn''t have the equipment to do so.
I should consider bring various weapons in the future so i can learn those skills as well.
A wolf howled from far away ¡°Crap!¡± Dinas said, ¡°it already that time already? Run everyone run!¡± "Why?" Hans said. "The silver wolf is nearby. Let''s get out of here before it find us" *shiing The clash of claws against steel was heard nearby. Another party has engaged it. This is a great opportunity to learn the skills and spells they will use to fight it. "Run!" Martin said from behind Derek. Derek ignored him and walked toward the sound of battle. In an open clearing with a few brushes of grass, he saw two fighters engaged with the wolf while a priest and two mages were casting powerful spells from far away. The Silver Wolf a boss monster who is at least level 20. It was huge about 5 feet tall and 7 feet long with strong back legs and sharp teeth. Bolts of fire, ice and missiles flew toward the Silver Wolf wreaking havoc while the fighters dance around the wolf and prevent it from rushing the nukers far away. You¡¯ve seen the spell ¡°Firebolt¡±, cost 80 Mana to mimic You¡¯ve seen the spell ¡°Icebolt¡±, cost 80 Mana to mimic You¡¯ve seen the spell ¡°Magic missile¡±, cost 70 Mana to mimic You¡¯ve seen the spell ¡°Blessing of might¡±, Cost 150 Mana to mimic Derek couldn¡¯t wait to use them. The limitation with mimic, is that right after he uses the spell once, unless he learns them, its gone forever or until he see the same spell being used again. He is also only able to store one cast of the spell at a time. With his current pool of mana of about 300, he would only be able to cast each of the offensive spells one time. Just hope it is enough to kill the wolf when the worst comes to worst. Derek observed the battle from a distance. Everything was going well until one of the fighters got head butted out of the way, and the other was pushed aside. It immediately rushed toward the casters with tremendous speed. Both mages were able to cast one last spell before they were knocked away; the one in the middle dying instantly under the impact.
You¡¯ve seen the skill ¡°Takedown¡±, cost 100 stamina to mimic
What? The mimic skill managed to pick up the monster¡¯s skill to his surprise. He didn¡¯t even have time to relish in it as the fight in front of him was falling apart. After killing the first mage, the wolf tore into the other one killing him instantly. The fighter that got knocked aside quickly recovered and shouted at the top of his voice.
You¡¯ve seen the skill ¡°Taunt¡±, cost 100 stamina to mimic
The silver wolf was about to finish off the healer, but was taunted toward the warrior. The fight resumed but having lost most of their damage, it was the battle of attrition. It was clear, from the way the fighters looked, they were getting tired even though they we skillfully avoiding damage. They were going to lose. The situation became even worse when the Silver Wolf summoned 3 wolves to fight by his side. I need to do something. He tried to move, but his legs won¡¯t budge.
After witnessing the power of the Silver Wolf your morality dropped by 40% Unable to move All stats decreased by 30%
Damn. I can¡¯t believe this can happen, its a game damn it, even if you die you¡¯ll just revive. Fight, at least help them.
He willed himself to move and help or even flee but he was stuck. Paralyzed with fear. He was still far from being seen by the wolves limited vision. But he could see that the battle was not going well, although the players were high leveled the priest was getting attacked from every direction, using spells to just keep himself alive. Both fighters were too occupied with the boss to help out. Why doesn¡¯t anyone help? He looked around but there wasn¡¯t anyone nearby. One minute passed then two ... Then three when it all seem lost.A familiar voice shouted behind him. ¡°chaarrrge!¡± In that second, he saw Dinas rush forward and strike one of the wolves attacking the priest ¡°Rays of hope¡±
Your morality returned to normal
¡°You idiot. DId you want to die that badly?¡± Martin said as as he stood beside me and cast a healing spell on the injured priest. ¡°You know we are so dead right?¡± Hans interjected, ¡°That thing is more than 10 level higher than any of us.¡± ¡°It has been weakened enough, we might be able to deal enough damage to kill it with that party¡± Martin said, ¡°Lets try anyways, imagine the exp and loot we can get if we managed to kill it. If not we¡¯ll leave Derek here and run for our lives since its all his fault.¡± ¡°Attack!¡± Dinas shouted right after he killed off one of the wolf minions. Every one took their position and started attacking the wolves. Hans focused on crippling the small wolves while Dinas, killed them off. Martin healed and buffed allies. Derek focused on attacking the Silver Wolf with his ranged spells. ¡°Firebolt¡±
You¡¯ve used the spell firebolt. It dealt 100 damage due to its weakness to fire. Essence of fire went to 50%. Firebolt was forgotten Mimic went up to 40%
Nice. But too bad I can¡¯t use it again ¡°Frostbolt¡±
You¡¯ve used the spell frost bolt. It dealt only 25 due to its resistance to cold. Essence of water went to 50%. Frostbolt was forgotten Mimic went up to 50%
¡°Magic missile¡±
You¡¯ve used the spell magic missile. Unaimed it dealt only 50 damage. Spellweaving went up to 80% Essence of wind went to 70%. Magic missile was forgotten Mimic went up to 60%
That was all the spells he just saw but it did significant damage and the Silver Wolf was down to 20% health. The spells after that were weaker, but combined with the persistent attacks by other players, we managed to whittle down the Silver Wolf to 1%. ¡°Smite¡± *Ding
You smite spell went up by 1 level!
You¡¯ve slain the Silver Wolf You have leveled up. You have leveled up. You have leveled up. You have leveled up. You earned the title WolfSlayer. Your strength and agility will increase by 3 with this title. You found a Wolf belt, and 50 silvers
Yes, I killed the Silver wolf. He only had a moment to celebrate before the situation dawned on him. He just stole the kill of another party, which gave his party 80% of the exp and loot. The other party were staring at them with envy and anger, due to the fact that their party did 90% of the work.
Oh crap!
¡°Get them!¡± one of the fighter said. At that moment, the party ran with all their might back into the city. Of course, no one forgot to snipe the loot before doing so. *** At the City of Morata ¡°Well done everyone,¡± Dinas said, ¡°We managed to take down the field boss and create our first set of enemies.¡± ¡°I got a nice bow from it at least,¡± Hans said as he took out a bow that dropped fro the silver wolf Derek could see that the bow was glowing with a light aura. ¡°Since you are a mage can you identify it for me?¡± Hans said as he handed Derek the bow
I¡¯ve never done this before. Maybe, if I analyze the aura it might tell me something.
¡°Sure, let me take a look.¡± Derek said. He focused deeply on the aura surrounding the bow. As he looked at the aura, lines began to move inside it.
If I can read it.
He focused harder to read the lines and then finally.. *Tring

A long way off but isn¡¯t useful for me at the moment ¡°Here¡±, Derek gave the belt to Dinas, ¡°As a mage I don¡¯t really need this, and since you did all the hard work you should have it.¡± ¡°Its okay,¡± Dinas said, ¡°I have something better than that at the moment. You should keep it. You¡¯ll never know when that extra health would save your life later on.¡± ¡°I¡¯m done for today,¡± Dinas said, ¡°Lets add each other as friends so we can go hunting again sometime. We have the perfect team. A tank, mage, priest, and archer we should be able to do a lot together in the future.¡± A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation. ¡°Sounds good,¡± Derek said as he added everyone in the party to his friend list. ¡°Good night. Also, Martin, you should show him that place before you leave. It should help him a lot.¡± Dinas said before logging out. ¡°I¡¯ve been there,¡± Hans said, ¡°Sometimes I feel that it might be too good to be true, there is bound to be a reason why they have that.¡± ¡°What are you guys talking about?¡± Derek said ¡°Just follow me,¡± Martin said as he led Derek to a shack some distance away from the central fountain. He knocked on the door; the door opened slightly and Martin whispered a few words and then it opened completely. ¡°Come in quickly. We don¡¯t want any high level players to know about it.¡± Martin said Derek quickly rushed inside and closed the door behind him. Soon after, he was lead down a hidden flight of stairs at the far back of the room. Once inside, the smell of something fragrant filled the air. Martin, in his most serious face said, ¡°Welcome to the Grass Porridge Cult. We help all new players become stronger and offer free grass porridge all day long. Enjoy!¡± At that moment, Derek finally noticed that his character was hungry after an intense hunt, and lined up at the table offering the grass porridge. Porridge made from grass, this should be interesting. He was handed a medium size bowl which was then filled with a fragrant porridge. It was delicious. Much better than rye bread least. Both Martin, and Hans got some soup and sat down beside Derek. They chatted a bit about the hunt and the loot, and also about the party we stole the kill from. Then, after finishing the meal they left. Finally, I can work on my skills, can¡¯t wait to see what spellweaving level 2 will allow me to do, and I am so close to being able to combine wind and earth essences with other elements. ¡°Hi,¡± a female walked towards Derek as he was about to leave, ¡°My name is Lemon, I¡¯m one of the leader of this place. How are you enjoying the food?¡± ¡°It is great, I didn''t know you can make something taste so good with just some grass and rice.¡± ¡°I¡¯m glad that you enjoyed it. Do you have plans on joining the Cult?¡± Lemon said ¡°I don¡¯t know, I feel I¡¯m not good enough to make the decision yet.¡± Derek replied ¡°Everyone here is a new player just like you, we are giving them as much support as possible so they can become strong pawn-players to defend Morata and start their own adventure. If you ever want to join. I¡¯ll be here.¡± Lemon said. Derek nodded ¡°Also, the password at the door is ¡®pxe dna tool rof¡¯¡± Lemons said, ¡°Use it get access to this place again. I look forward to seeing you again.¡± ¡°Thanks¡± Derek said as she walked away. Soon after, Derek headed into out and bought an inn and decided to practice spellweaving. ¡°Spells list, new spells¡±

Derek regretted, that he wasn¡¯t able to learn the spells, firebolt, frostbolt, and magic missile during the battle, but as long as there is an opportunity to watch a battle and use those spells he would eventually be able to learn it. Nonetheless, it was much more interesting to make spells. Closing his eyes and recounting the battle he experience today. He tried to replicate the feeling of casting the spells he mimicked. The wind as bolt of pure mana fired at the target when he cast magic missile, the feeling of heat from the palm of his hands as it blazed through the air when he cast firebolt, the feeling of cold and the trail of fog as it flew through the air when he cast frostbolt. Firebolt, fire and wind, frostbolt ice and wind, what makes ice...lack of heat... darkness. magic missile...light and wind. Once he had all the components of the spell in his mind (feeling, sight, and sound) he proceed to make the spells. *Tring

At last, an original spell, now all I have to is practice it enough so it can succeed more often. Once that last spell was created he logged out and went to sleep. There will be even more work tomorrow. ****** The next day ¡°Enjoying the show?¡± A player on the top balcony in the training hall said to his friend. ¡°Yeah, either that person is a complete idiot or he enjoys setting himself on fire. This is 10th time in a row that his spell backfired and set him on fire.¡± Darren said ¡°Is that the same person that stole our kill yesterday?¡± Erin said ¡°Yup¡± ¡°Do you want revenge on him?¡± ¡°Nah, he is only lv 9 at the moment, and has crappy equipment. So there is no point killing him at all. Nonetheless, let add him to our hitlist; he might get something useful. He is only a mage anyways.¡± ¡°Oh look, he set himself on fire again.¡± ¡°...¡± ***
By setting yourself on fire consecutively your resistance to fire magic increased by 2%
Derek dropped to the ground and rolled to put out the fire. It only put out a little so he had to pull out his water skin and dowse himself again. He used the spell ¡°Splash¡± to make sure that minimum amount of water was use to dowse his entire body. Damn, I didn¡¯t know the spell I made had such a high failure rate. What am I doing wrong? He tried again, and again it set him on fire, but this time manage to fire a single fire missile. Almost got it. He tried to cast again but he was out of mana. Time to work on my weapon skills. It is clear I can¡¯t rely only on my spell casting skills. He borrowed two wooden sword from the training hall and started practicing with them. The rate at which he earned stats from attacking the scarecrow decreased a lot past the 6 week point. Still he had to complete basic training so he can get a sword, a generous boost in health and be one of the limited number of people that passes basic training. Even though it was boring and repetitive task, the clear goal ahead gave him all the motivation required to get it done. For the next week, right after work he would login to Royal Road, practice 12 in-game hours swinging his swords and practicing the spells he learned. He would spend the last 8 hours in-game hunting and doing simple quests. Sometimes, Hans, Martin, and Dinas would be online and they would hunt together. With his current arsenal of spells, the party was able to defeat single wolves really fast, almost to the extent that, they are able to kill 3-4 of them at one time. By the end of the first week Derek finally passed basic training. He gained 100 health, an iron sword, and the endurance stat which reduced the damage received by a percentage based on it. He also obtained the skills "dual-wielding"and "ambidexterity."
Dual wielding: Lv. 1 Increases the damage of the weapon in each hand by 5% Passively increases dexterity by 5, agility by 5, and stamina by 75 Ambidexterity: Lv. 1 Increases the accuracy of all weapons by 10% Increases the exp earned for performing complex task with each hand by 20% Increases the success rate of weapon skills by 10% Passively increases dexterity by 5
He also managed to get to Level 13. Finally, after a total of 4 in-game weeks hitting the scarecrow I''m am ready for adventure. "Stat Window"

Looking at his stats, Derek was very proud of the progress he made in the last two month in game. He felt ready for anything. Before he was about to head out the instructor approached. "Wait." Derek turned around. The instructor was a middle aged male who had a broad build. "I''ve seen your dedication to swordsmanship but I''ve also see you use magic as well. Are you planning to become a battlemage?¡± ¡°Yes, but I don¡¯t plan on changing my primary class.¡± Derek replied "You don''t have to." He said, "I know someone who can train you in the optimal way to fight with both magic and weapons. Let me introduce him to you" *Tring

Chapter 4: Valley of the Unborn If anyone ever tried to create something then they will have that moment in which he/she did something to a point and then gave up because it was impractical, embarrassing, or requires so much additional knowledge that it couldn''t be completed within the expected timeline. These often leads to unfinished pieces, impractical designs, and distant dreams. Yet. if they were to persist they will be able to witness something that will never exist. In the Valley of the Unborn, the AI program that is at the core of Royal Road, generated completed objects, events and monsters based on these unfinished projects, derived from the minds of all the players in Royal Road during their first four weeks in the game. Generally it is scaled on the level of the party entering it. With rewards adjusted accordingly as well. *Tring

¡°Wow,¡± Dinas said, ¡°An undiscovered location, and I thought all the hidden locations were found within several month from the founding of Morata. Good job.¡± Dinas, Martin, Hans, and Raveen were happy and surprised with the discovery. After Derek told Dinas about a C level quest at an unexplored location, he told everyone including his girlfriend Raveen, to come online right away. At the end of three month in game, all of them made significant progress with their character. Derek completed basic training and hit level 15. Dinas obtained a set of plate armor and hit level 25. Hans went to level 19, and now looks like a seasoned hunter with equipment made from hunting wolves and other animals. Martin went to level 20, and was outfitted with enchanted clothing, he also learned numerous healing and crowd control spells. Raveen, is a female bard who was level 19, she showed off numerous spells that increased speed, team coordination, and performance. She also had spells that would cripple their enemies. I need to tell them about my real class. I could give me an opportunity to practice their skills. ¡°Where did you get this quest?¡± Martin asked, ¡°It is hard to find quests that leads you to unexplored places.¡± ¡°I got it from the instructor at the training hall, after completing basic training.¡± Derek replied ¡°Can you share the quest?¡± Martin said ¡°I can¡¯t this is limited to my class.¡± ¡°If you had to complete basic training as a mage then your class isn''t an ordinary one right?¡± Hans said. Hans always had keen observation skills and a quick mind so he was able to guess it right away. I could tell them but it wouldn''t help much, the less they know the better. ¡°I¡¯m training to be a battlemage and this a quest related to it.¡± Derek said ¡°I thought that the class is only available to mages who completed their second job advancement.¡± Hans said ¡°Yes, I¡¯m preparing for it. Lets go, this is a great opportunity to earn some exp and loot.¡± ¡°Right, lets go.¡± Hans said. Derek knew it was only a matter of time before Hans figured out his secret class. Nonetheless, they¡¯ll probably find out everything once they meet his mentor. *** ¡°Hmm,¡± Darren said, several meters away from where Derek¡¯s party went into the cave, ¡°My hunch was right. They showed us the way to an unexplored dungeon. You guys see this?¡± Erin, Mary, Lucian, and Ariel appear nearby. Erin is a male fighter. Mary¡¯s is their healer. Ariel and Lucian were the party¡¯s mage. Thier average level was 57. The lowest of them, Ariel, was level 53. Erin and Darren were both above 60. It was clearly a party that could easily decimate Derek¡¯s party. ¡°They went in,¡± Darren said, ¡°Lets go in, and intercept whatever they are doing in there. I''m there is something good in it¡± Darren¡¯s party, waited about 10 minutes, and then headed into the cave. *** The moment their party entered the cave, Derek felt a subtle shift in their surroundings. Hans as well, but no one else did. ¡°Something doesn''t feel right,¡± Hans said as they walked deeper into the cave. ¡°Maybe you are just scared,¡± Dinas said, ¡°Don¡¯t worry we all are. We¡¯ve never been here before.¡± After a what felt like hours of walking in the dark, a ray of light and the smell of fresh air wafted through through the cave. Walking towards the light, they appeared a cliff overlooking a brilliant city bustling with activity. ¡°Hmm, I didn¡¯t expect something like this to be here.¡± Hans said, ¡°I never heard of town city in the middle of a mountain near Morata. Could it be the hidden underground city?¡± ¡°I doubt it.¡± Derek said as he walked closer to the city, all the activities going in the city were performed by figures made of floating rectangles, circles, and triangles. They were all made out of a circle on the top of a large rectangle, with 8 thinner rectangles making the arms, legs, with a circle at each joint; a circle for the hand, and another smaller rectangle for the feet. *Tring

Derek¡¯s party walked cautiously toward the city entrance. When they were 5 meters away everyone in the city stopped and quickly walked toward them. The party raised their weapons defensively. A humanoid with 7 small triangles around its face walked out of the crowd. Levitating a wooden branch, it wrote on the ground. ¡°Welcome, adventurers, it was foretold that we would get out of this predicament someday. Will you help us?¡± *Tring
City Restoration Help the village elder finish the City Difficulty: C+ Rewards: Experience, and familiarity, with the Citizens of the Unfinished City Additional info: Part 1 of a chain quest.
¡°C+ quest, hoo-wee, this isn¡¯t going to be easy. Still, I won¡¯t miss out on its rewards. Lets do this¡± Dinas said ¡°We will do our best,¡± Derek said, ¡°what is the issue?¡±
You¡¯ve accepted the quest.
Everyone else got the quest and accepted it soon after She levitated the stick and began writing
You mimicked the spell ¡°Telekinesis.¡± You are able to move a small object without contact. Essence of Wind increased to 50%
¡°We were made like this, it seems like everything we need to be complete is scattered around this place. We managed to gather the things to make the city but everything else remains in the deeper areas of the valley guarded by some parasitic monsters. Here is the map and their locations.¡± She handed them a map, with the city in the center and 6 alters surrounding the city. ¡°Pretty straightforward lets go.¡± Dinas said as he lead the way (2 Hours later¡) ¡°Do you have any idea where you''re going?¡± Hans said, after walking through completely blank white plains. The moment they headed out from the city the details around them gradually diminished. It started with the lack of life, then plants, then even the ground; to the point that everything was completely blank; and that was 1 hour ago. Even then the party kept going the lack of details did nothing to halt their progress ¡°Well the circle is the city and the smaller circles are the altars right?¡± Dinas said after looking at it again. ¡°If it were that simple we would have arrived at the altar by now.¡± Martin said, ¡°Derek, can you see if you can find anything from this map?¡± I totally forgot about it, damn. ¡°Sure, Identify Map¡± *Tring
Enchanted map of the Valley of the Unborn Six altars are scattered around the map. Each of them seals a fragment of what makes the Unfinished city complete. When you arrive at the marked spot stand still for a moment and you¡¯ll be pulled into the altar location. Identify skill increased to 40%
¡°What marked spot?¡± Martin said after Derek read the identification message. ¡°I saw a circle about 30 minute back from where we came from. That one is probably it.¡± Hans said. They glared at him for not mentioning it earlier. ¡°It didn¡¯t look like an altar so I didn¡¯t think it was anything.¡± Hans retorted, ¡°It is your guys fault that no one looked at the map closely before heading toward the alters.¡± The party backtracked for about 45 minutes and finally found the circle. It was engraved with unreadable runes inside the circle. Derek focused on it and tried to decipher it *Tring
You failed to read the runes for trying your identify skill went up to 50%. Further attempt on the same runes will not increase this skill.
I tried, guess we¡¯ll do what the map tells us to do. ¡°Okay, so everyone stand in here,¡± Derek said, ¡°Something should happen.¡± The circle was big enough to encompass at least 10 people so their party had little trouble fitting in. They waited for 5 minutes but nothing happened. ¡°You surrrrr--------¡± Dinas was about to say something but at that instant the whole group vanished. They appeared in the center of a colosseum. "Ladies and gents welcome to round one of the Unborn Tournament" An announcer near the center of crowd said, "We have a party of 5 versusssss... The Silencer" There was a high screech and then a Wight in dark robes walked into the arena. *Tring
Until the opponent is defeated you will be unable to speak
Does that seal off spellcasting? It is level 30... The battle started off with the Wight summoning five large hounds which rushed toward the party. Since, no one was able to speak, four of them dashed past the tank toward the Hans, Martin, and Raveen. Dinas attacked ¡°The Silencer¡± to draw its attention away from the rest of the party. Hans backpedaled and shot arrows but because he was moving his arrow were off the mark. Several of them missed the target. Raveen played her harp while getting chased by the hounds. She was agile enough to dodge the attacks. Martin on the other hand was randomly waving his staff, to fend them off. He even managed to strike on the head and stun it for a few moments Derek lunged in and stabbed the stunned hound with his iron sword.
Critical Hit!
The hound went grey and disappeared immediately; Derek was surprised how much damage he did. I guess basic training does pay off. Derek narrowly avoided a lunge from another nearby hound. But was stuck squarely in the should by another, and was spun around by the impact
You took 200 damage
Ouch...got to avoid those When Derek recovered two hounds were circling around him waiting for an opening. The party was scattered all across the Colosseum. Hans was busy kiting the hound, having finally hit it with a crippling shot and whittling away the hounds health. Raveen was busy running away, although her debuffs managed to slow the hound enough that it wasn''t able to catch up. Martin was on the ground recovering, as well as deciding what to do since he was unable cast spells. Without, a way of communication the battle was all over the place. It was everyone for themselves. Derek ducked under the first hound and pushed it with his wooden sword. It didn''t do much but changed the trajectory of the lunge so it went wide. It gave him time to get ready for the second hound, the moment it lunged, his sword shot between the hounds mouth and through its head.
Critical Hit!
The hound turned grey and vanished only 3 left. Martin with his staff finished off the one that Derek pushed aside with a flurry of strikes, while it was lying prone on the ground. It was the first time Derek has seen Martin fight, but it was clear that he was an experience fighter. Dinas was doing very well against the Wight. He was pressuring the Wight so that it didn¡¯t have a chance to cast spells. He forced the Wight to fight with his staff. Even if the Wight managed to launch a spell. His enchanted shield would be able to deflect it easily. The only issue was that between blocking and dodging spells there was no way for him to deal any significant damage to it. He could see Dinas smiling all throughout the fight. Derek watched the fight for a moment and several messages appears
You saw the spell shadowbolt, to mimic you will require 200 mana You saw the skill Shield bash, to mimic you will require 200 stamina
After the bash, Dinas kicked the Wight down, and then performed a leaping strike
You saw the skill Leaping Strike, to mimic you will require 300 stamina
Find this and other great novels on the author''s preferred platform. Support original creators! The Wight, barely blocked the strike Derek mimicked the attack and leaped at the Wight.
Due to the lack of stamina to cast the skill you took 55 damage
Both swords struck the Wight in the back and tore through its armor. There was a loud screech and an invisible blast of wind sent both Dinas and Derek flying through the air.
You saw the spell, Soul burst, to mimic you will require 500 hp You took 100 damage, your health is at 50%
¡°I sacrifice myself to summon the ultimate power. Arise Skeleton King!¡± the Wight cried out loud. The Wight was engulfed in pale blue fire, and disappeared. In its place, a giant skeleton over 8 feet tall appeared wielding a giant flaming broadsword. It utter a hellish screen, and the souls of the remaining hounds were pulled from their body and they all turned grey. Something tugged at Derek lifeforce as well. But he was able to resist it, along with everyone else in the party.
You are no longer silenced.
Finally, they were able to speak. ¡°I knew there was more to this.¡± Dinas said once he recovered, ¡°A level 60 Giant Skeleton. This will be a long battle.¡± ¡°Divine light¡± Martin cried out and everyone¡¯s health and stamina were restored. ¡°What now?¡± Hans said as the group reunited from all over the battlefield. ¡°Let me check¡± Dinas said as he rushed the skeleton. The skeleton swung the his broadsword at the Dinas, who held up his shield just in time to take the blow. The strike sent him flying into the air again and landed where he charged from. I guess he enjoys being sent flying. ¡°Owwee,¡± Dinas said as he stood up again, ¡°Soooooo, don¡¯t get hit by the sword.¡± ¡°We know anything else?¡± Hans said. Dinas took a serious look and said, ¡°Well, it is slow, it has a long recovery time with each attack. It--Dodge!¡± Everyone dived out of the way as a blade of fire tore through the air where the team was discussing a moment ago. It has a ranged attack as well. ¡°Attack from afar, don¡¯t engage it head on.¡± Dinas shouted from the other side. ¡°Firebolt.¡± Derek said and a bolt of fire flew at the skeleton. It placed its blade in front of it and absorbed the attack; increasing the intensity of the fire.
You have seen ¡°Major Flame Enchantment.¡± You¡¯ll be able to use this when your enchanting skill reaches level 8.
Several arrows flew from hans far away but they disintegrated several inches from the sword. ¡°Smite!¡± Martin cried, the skeleton staggered under the blow. But recovered quickly and dashed toward Martin in fit of rage. Dinas tried to intercept the skeleton but was pushed aside. Martin dived just in time as the blade came crashing down on the ground leaving behind a pit surrounded by fire. It is weak against light/holy attacks. Derek cast smite and it staggered the skeleton again. With his high damage, he was now the next target. A blade of fire blasted through the air. ¡°Spray¡± Derek said, and water blasted from his water skin creating a wall of water. *Tring
Due to the numerous use of the spell spray, you¡¯ve created the spell ¡°Water Shield¡±, this negates instantaneous fire attacks, Mana: 100 Essence of water increased to 60%
The blade of fire struck the wall of water and dissipated into the air. The skeleton leaped into the air with the sword raised. Derek dived toward the skeleton; a giant boom was heard behind him. Damn, I would have been killed if that thing hit me. It didn¡¯t cease its chase, it spun around and the blade nipped his tunic and set it on fire. Having set himself on fire so many times before he quickly put it out with the splash spell. The fire resistance he gained also assisted in reducing the damage to a minimum. Arrow flew at the skeleton from afar, it did some damage but he shrugged it off. Another blade of fire flew in Derek¡¯s direction, this time scorching his left shoulder While running for his life Derek shouted, ¡°What is it at?¡± ¡°It is at 80% health.¡± Martin said, ¡°Turn Undead¡±
*Tring You saw the spell ¡°Turn Undead¡± deals 200 to 500 damage to the Undead and stun it for a few seconds. 200 Mana
¡°60% now,¡± Martin said, ¡°I can only use it one more time.¡± The skeleton stopped moving for a moment and when it recovered it charged at Martin right away. Dinas dashed in front of Martin as the sword slammed into his shield from the side. The ground dented from the attack but it deflected the attack and sent the skeleton off balance. Martin then tripped the skeleton with his staff sending it tumbling onto the ground; then proceeded to run away as it was recovering. I can do this. Smite and magic missile. Light missiles. ¡°Light missile¡± Derek said, and bolts of light flashed toward the skeleton. Two of the three bolt hit the skeleton while the last one, which flew toward his head was barely blocked by his giant sword. *Tring
You¡¯ve created the spell ¡°Holy missiles¡±, 3x(40-150) damage, 100 mana, deals 2x damage to Undead monsters The Essence of Light skill went up to 60%
The skeleton roared in pain and started spinning the blade around him like a small flaming tornado. The first rotation hit Dinas with such a force that his shield finally broke and he was sent soaring through the air again. He¡¯ll be fine. He deserves a boost to landing resistance from all that he has been through. The skeleton spun towards Derek immune from ranged damage. I wonder¡ Derek visualized turning the floor in front of him into quicksand. With that image in his mind he projected it in front of him ¡°Quicksand.¡± Derek. The ground in front of him turned soft first and then wet in an instant. *Tring
You created the spell ¡°Mud¡±, allows you to turn sand or soil into mud by imbuing it with water. 0-? dmg, 50 mana. Can be upgraded to quicksand with enough practice Essence of water went to 80%, Essence of earth went to 60%
Egh, close enough Even though the spell wasn¡¯t very strong, it did its job. The moment one of the feet of the skeleton stepped into the mud a loud crack can be heard as it shin bones shattered under the weight and momentum of the rest of his body. As it tumbled, Derek dropped his wooden sword and held his ironsword with both hands and moved it across the skeleton¡¯s neck. Normally, a sword would be unable to cut through the dense bones of the giant skeletons neck, but Derek was able to time it just as it was falling with all it weight; hitting a joint in the neck, the skeleton skull flew into the air, and the whole body dissipated dropping several things on to the ground.

The whole party quickly rushed toward where the skeleton died. ¡°That was amazing, Derek.¡± Martin exclaimed, but was eagerly examining the loot. ¡°Lets see what we got here.¡± Dinas said Where there was once the decapitated body of a giant skeleton, the ground was littered with silver pieces and several items first up was the Giant sword that the skeleton was using. It was larger than anyone in the party. ¡°Identify¡± Pyroblade A large sword once wielded by the Skeleton King. It is imbued with fire magic and allows the skill ¡°Slash Blaze¡± to be casted at the cost of its durability. Its size and weight make it a slow but powerful weapon, that can only be wielded by large humanoids
Type: Two handed weapon Required Strength: 300 Required Level: 60 Durability: 60/80 Options Deals 20-70 extra fire damage on contact and can light the target on fire + 100 Strength + 500 Health - 20 Dex - 20 Agi Active: Sends out a blade of fire that explodes on contact for 200-500 damage at the cost of 5 durability.
¡°Wow that is a nice weapon.¡± Dinas said, ¡°Just 35 more level to go before I can use it...¡± ¡°Here, you can have it since I¡¯m planning to use only one handed weapons.¡± Derek said as he handed the blade to Dinas. Dinas was speechless. The next items were regular iron girdle and a steel helmet. Both which went to Dinas since no one else can use it. Derek took 80% of the silver since he was desperate for something after such a hard battle. ¡°There you have it ladies and gentlemen, round 1 of the Unborn Coliseum. Give them a cheer and bring out the prizes.¡± Two guards holding a wooden chest walked forward. Derek eagerly open the chest only see a sword and an empty but capped bottle inside. ¡°Identify¡±
Copper sword (?) A regular sword given to beginner gladiators Dmg 4-8 Durability 30/30
Damn a normal sword. I was hoping for something better. At least its better than the wooden sword. ¡°Identify bottle¡±
Identify skill went to 80% Bottle of sound (Quest Item) Sound is contained in the bottle
You are kidding right? How can you bottle sound? Then it hit him that ever since the entered the Unfinished city, there was no sound at all; not even from their own foot steps as they walked around. ¡°We all look forward to round 2. Have a good day everyone.¡± In a flash the world around them disintegrated and they found themselves inside the circle. The edges of the circle vanished soon after leaving nothing behind. ¡°Egh,¡± Dinas and the rest of the part felt really dizzy, ¡°They really need a better way to teleport us. This feels like being sea, and carsick at the same time.¡± ¡°Lets go back to the village and hand in the Bottle of Sound. I¡¯m done for today. To think that there is 5 more battles like that coming. This is going to be a long, long quest.¡± Dinas and the rest of the party crawled back to the city, mentally and physically worn out from intense battle. ¡ ¡°Here you go,¡± Derek handed the Bottle of Sound to the City Elder. She immediately popped it open and sound came out. ¡°We can speak again. Thank you my heroes.¡± She said, but the voice sounded inside their head, ¡°This makes it much easier for us to communicate. I see your party went through a lot. You are free to use our inns to rest.¡±
You have witness the skill Telepathy, this allows you to talk to anyone without speaking, 50 Mana
¡°Thank you.¡± Derek said telepathically using the mimic skill. This surprised the Elder and she continued telepathically to him alone, ¡°I see you are no ordinary mage, it took us ages to perfect this ability only for it to be taken away. To see a complete stranger use it, it must mean that something big is going to happen soon. I look forward to it. I am willing to teach you other psionic skills but you¡¯ll need to recover the rest of the items.¡± ¡°The more power I have to protect those before me, they more I will succeed in my duty. I am ready for anything. I humbly accept your guidance.¡± Derek said telepathically. ¡°My pleasure, lets go to my house and I¡¯ll will teach you what we are capable right now.¡± She said, and if an empty circle could smile she would have done so. After Derek¡¯s party disbanded and each of them left. Derek followed the Village Elder into her house. In there, she taught him how to use telekinesis, and telepathy; she even hinted on how telepathy can be used suggest people to do things and read the thoughts of another person as well as how to defend against such attacks. By the end of the lesson he gained the skill Psionics and leveled telekinesis and telepathy to Lv 3 It going to be a pain remembering so many skills. At least, the more abilities at my disposal, the more versatile I can be. He then headed to the inn and logged out and slept like a corpse for the rest of the night.
