《Pure Soul》 Prologue Hi thank you for reading, this is my first time writing anything really so please feel free to correct on mistakes and suggest improvements. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx ¡°Does everybody know why we have gathered here?¡± said one of the 15 imposing figures as he looks around at his company, all of which seemed humanoid but with features that go beyond humans and every other race in existence. ¡°Yes, we are here to decide what to do with our brother¡¯s foolish mistake¡± replied one of the strange beings, who appeared to be female with hair blue in colour that waved down to her shoulders as if it was a river, ¡°Correct adelena, as you heard our brother Vax has done something forbidden to us gods and has had a child with a mortal, and we have to decide its fate¡± the gods started to discuss among each other about what should be done and every now and then a god would shout their idea at Frogar the god of unity who stands in the middle of the group. The idea¡¯s given by the gods varied greatly as some would shout things like ¡°Just kill the thing and be done with it¡± (mainly the gods of chaos and death) whereas others were shouting nearly the opposite claiming they should leave it with the mother of the child and just prohibit any meetings between father and son (likewise the gods of life and peace). As time moved on, no progress was made in coming to a decision as the gods could only succeed in getting into arguments. All of the sudden an extremely loud crack was heard and as the gods looked into the sky it seemed to shatter momentarily until a man appeared before the gods. All of the gods recognized the one before them as vax the god that had caused the problem. Unlike the other gods Vax seemed to be a normal human, no elements of nature made up his body like the gods of nature, (fire, water, ice, earth, lightning, wind, light and dark) his skin did not give off light or fog and anything of the sort like the gods of peace, life, war and death and had no physical quirks like the gods of unity (a tattoo across his face showing an endless cycle), chaos (pitch black, cracked skin that seems to pulsate every now and then) and wisdom (a third eye on his head that symbolises his amazing insight with a tattoo of a crown around his head). Vax just looked human except his body was impeccable, muscles bulged with scars covering them, however he did not look ridiculously big since he had no useless muscle anywhere on his body. The rest of the gods watched Vax who just stood silently staring daggers at them all when finally after a minute of silence Chronos the god of chaos spoke up in a spiteful tone ¡°What reason do you have for interrupting our meeting brother¡± Vax replied in a voice so cold that even Glacia the god of ice shivered ¡°You know very well why I am here, and you should know that I will not allow any harm to be done to either my son or my wife¡± after he finished Helios the god of fire (and a hothead, ¡.. literally) screamed ¡°ARE YOU THREATENING US, AFTER YOU BROKE THE RULES OF THE GODS¡± While the flames on the top of his head erupted towards the sky, changing colour from red to blue to white and giving of an immense amount of heat, Vax then focused his entire presence on Helios and Helios alone and a second later, the heat was gone and Helios looked terrified paralyzed with fear. At the sight of this the other gods, barring of course the gods of life, peace, unity and wisdom started to prepare to fight when for the first time since the entire meeting started, Estrawr the god of wisdom spoke ¡°Calm down people, all of you¡..NOW!¡± the others were somewhat shocked that he raised his voice when Helios, still slightly scared, weakly replied ¡°but Est he broke the rules and then threatened us¡± Without changing expressions Estrawr simply replied ¡°All of you idiots get into arguments while threatening each other fairly often, not really a big deal anymore brother and as for breaking the rules, I seem to remember someone getting angry at losing a bet and starting a major disaster in the world, not to mention this is the first time Vax here has ever broken a rule before and it is something we can deal with, he is just a child so we can watch him grow and see what he becomes over time, However a breaking a rule still deserves punishment so seeing how much Vax here cares for his family, After all he threatened to start a war between gods for them, I propose we make it so that he and his wife cannot raise their child, after the boy grows we will have no control over where he goes, should he travel to meet his parents then fine but that will be the first time he will meet them.¡± No one could refute anything that Estrawr had said, Vax included. Unauthorized tale usage: if you spot this story on Amazon, report the violation. Vax was calmer now though because he knew his family will not be harmed then looking at Est with sad eyes he said ¡°Very well, I am not against this, however I do wish to request that my wife and myself get one last chance to say goodbye to him¡± Estrawr smiled and replied ¡°I see no problem with that brother, say your goodbyes then I will take the child to his new home¡± at this statement chronos, while glaring at Vax, said ¡°Why do you get to decide where the child goes¡± to which Estrawr just replied ¡°Vax¡¯s wife was someone with one of my major blessings, so in turn the child was born with my minor blessings on him, this means that the child is under my protection¡± and after hearing this chronos could do nothing but grumble his displeasure. Vax then spoke up again ¡°then I will go to my wife and explain what is happening then we will say our farewells, However I Warn you all if any harm EVER befalls my son and I find out that someone here caused it, you will experience my full fury¡± after which he quickly left and all the gods except Estrawr shivered with fear. The reason for the gods fear was because of Vax¡¯s nature, he was usually extremely peaceful never really causing fights, and although he had no spells/weapons of mass destruction or large army¡¯s to command he was by far the most powerful of the gods, as he was the god of battle, any form of fighting no matter what he excelled at, martial arts, brawling, weapons mastery he could cut a mountain with a broken twig and unlike the other gods who got lazy when they reached a wall in their power he continued to train and get stronger simply because he enjoyed it. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx After Vax was done Estrawr took the child to some faraway mountains covered with jungle trees and left the child close to a primitive looking village while saying ¡°child grow up here away from corruption and become a being with a pure and kind soul just like your father¡± he then left when he saw villagers he wanted to raise the child. Chapter 1 ¡°Kuat ¡¡.. KUAT ¡.. KUAT!!¡± shouted a large man as kicked down a wooden door creating even more noise ¡°ugh¡.. I¡¯m up Api, calm down¡± replied a second man as groggily got up ¡°You¡¯re still sleeping, I can¡¯t believe that someone like you is the leader of the village¡± the large man, called Api, said as he put his head in his hand ¡°ahahahaha calm down, it was just so quite after I finished my morning training that I just fell asleep, anyway what do you want¡± Api looked at his leader and recalled how seriously he took his training, he then found it understandable that Kuat was tired considering how much he pushed himself ¡°Api? Are you going to tell or do I have to guess¡± Kuat remarked with a grin ¡°hmm ¡. AH yes sorry, the hunters found something about a minute away from the village, said you should see it¡± Api said after recollecting himself ¡°What could be so important that I am needed, hmmm¡. never mind I¡¯ll find out in a bit, which direction Api?¡± Kuat asked ¡°South of the village, on the ground just before you reach the forest, you should see the others there¡± after hearing this Kuat wondered about what he might find waiting for him as he left his house and the village built in the trees above the ground, leaving Api with the broken down door to fix. After a minute of jogging Kuat reached where the hunters where waiting and as he drew closer he noticed what appeared to be a basket just ahead of them. When he reached the hunters and asked one what was going on ¡°Batu what could you possibly need me for¡± the hunter looked down for s second and then replied ¡°um sir ¡. We found a child¡± at this Kuat just looked at them dumbfounded ¡°you called me because you found a child, none here had the capability of dealing with a child¡± all the hunters looked embarrassed when Batu spoke up again ¡°again sorry sir but it¡¯s just that this child is strange¡± and Kuat just thought how strange can a child be exactly, he then moved through the hunters to get a look at the child, and when he saw it he understood what the hunters had meant. The child was very similar to them however it also had some visible differences, the biggest of which being the fact that it lacked the fur his people usually had from their wrists and ankles which reached to just before their shoulders and just above their kneecaps. The child also lacked his people¡¯s tail, but the strangest thing about the child was the odd sense of peacefulness as looked at the child. Kuat moved forward and picked the child up, he looked at the child¡¯s face and the child just looked back and smiled at him. At that exact point Kuat, the strongest of the ape beastman race, decided he was going to raise it and as he was thinking of a name he remembered how peaceful he felt (peaceful huh, then your name shall be Damai) when he told those around him his decision, they saw their leaders smiling face and started to smile as well. Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Five years later ¡°Damai, come here Damai¡± Kuat called and soon after a young child with a bright smile on his face came running up ¡°yes dad?¡± said Damai while knowing what was coming and excitedly hopping up and down ¡°hehehe son seems like you already know what¡¯s coming, yes son today you are five years old and as the village tradition states we will now start your training to become a strong warrior¡± Kuat said barely containing his own excitement as he saw the joy in his sons eyes, Damai was positively ecstatic at the thought as he has always admired his father¡¯s strength and wanted to be even stronger than him, Kuat then said with a more serious tone ¡°now son I know you are eager but still, this will be difficult and you must put all your effort into your training¡± and after hearing this Damai calmed down and with determination in his voice shouted ¡°YES SIR¡± Kuat then grinned and said ¡°good, now for the first 7 years of your training we will focus on enhancing your body and minds capability, you will do basic strength and agility training along with extended hours of meditation and study, when you turn twelve you should be able to understand the purposes of the muscles in the body through studying and should be able to break a boulder taller and wider than yourself with a single punch¡± and Damai just listened to his father¡¯s words and when his father was done just asked a question ¡°when will I be learning the fighting style father¡± Kuat looked at his sons wanting eyes and just said ¡°at the age of twelve when your body can handle it¡± hearing this Damai was visibly disappointed but did not let it get him down too much. Damai¡¯s training consisted of running laps around the village, which was about 300 meters, this was to increase his endurance, stamina and speed. He had to do this from 6:00 in the morning until 8:30 when he would go home for breakfast, Damai was not alone when doing this though as all the other children had to do it as well, this included his best friends Salju, also called Sal, a young girl the same age as Damai and Logam who was one year older but less enthusiastic about the training. Sal and Damai would always have competitions between each other, and the score was always even since they were just as strong as each other, they left Logam out as he had been doing it for a year longer and was much further ahead. Afterwards Damai would eat his breakfast and then had to study while his mind was sharp in the morning for an hour, however he also had another study session in the afternoon. After the study session he would then go and do basic strength training e.g. pushups, sit-ups and weight training he would circulate through these for 2 hours a day and then would work on his flexibility for an hour, then at 1:00 he had to meditate for half an hour under Kuat¡¯s supervision to make sure he does it correctly. He would then eat lunch the at 2:00 he would do more laps around the village, having the second study session afterword¡¯s and after that he would have free time till 7:30 when he would meditate for another hour and go to bed. This continued for 7 years, except on his birthday each year he would be given a gravity ring that increased his weight and anything he carried so when he turned 12 he had twelve rings which collectively increased his weight by 400% he was not allowed to take the rings off until he turned 16 and became an adult. Chapter 2 All the villagers noticed that out of the children who just started training, 2 of them were progressing at a much faster rate than the others, they could see the potential that these children held and in order to make full use of their potential, they gave these two much tougher training than the rest. These 2 children were in fact Damai and Salju, these 2 although they didn¡¯t realise it, were much stronger and faster than those of similar age, they were even catching up to those 2 years older than them. The villagers decided that they would double the effect of the gravity rings they gave them, so whereas other children at age 8 would be 25% heavier than usual, Damai and Salju were 50% heavier and by the time they reached 12 they could move normally while 400% heavier. They did notice that Damai progressed faster than Sal but driven by her pride she would eventually catch up to him. When the 2 of them were turning twelve instead of a gravity ring, Kuat gave each of them a control ring, these were usually used when one turned 16 but these two children proved to be exceptionally strong. The control rings were used to train someone in how to use their muscles properly with no wasted movement, whenever the wearer moved excessively the ring would cause a strong pain that originated where the energy was wasted and out of the two the one who got control first was surprisingly Salju, whereas it took Damai an extra week to stop the pain and so after 6 months of pain the two of them had extremely well trained bodies. ¡°Come with me Damai, it is time to start some more difficult training¡± Kuat said with a serious tone in his voice as he stared at his son, hearing this Damai got extremely excited thinking that his father was going to teach him the family fighting style, he happily bounced along with a bright smile as his father brought him to a large room at the back of the house. Kuat sat his son down, looked at him and took a deep breath, he then told his son some shocking news ¡°Damai I know you are looking forward to learning the family fighting style, but I should tell you that there is no such thing, each member of the village finds their own style that they find comfortable and then through experience and knowledge they continually evolve their style to get rid of any weakness¡¯ they find with it¡± Damai¡¯s face could not show any more disappointment as he desperately wanted to inherit his father¡¯s style so that he could make Kuat proud, however this new piece of information dashed that dream entirely. Soon after he could hear a lot of laughter, Damai looked up and saw his father holding his stomach on the floor while laughing uncontrollably, Kuat started to talk again while still laughing ¡°ahahahahahah you should have seen your face, I¡¯ve never seen so many facial expressions in such a short span of time ahahahahahaha ¡¡.. (10 minutes later)¡¡. Ahah haha haaaah, whew, worry not son in order to develop your style you will need to spar A LOT and of course I will take the role of your sparring partner for now, so basically I will be helping you develop your style¡± Damai brightened up after hearing this, not because his father would have an input on his style but because he would have a chance to punch him in the face and get revenge for the ten minutes of laughter directed at him. Kuat then spoke again ¡°listen son, there will also be special training and this will be to give you the ability to use KI the energy in your body, we will start it tomorrow so for now go out and enjoy yourself, today is a free day¡± and so Damai left the house with a new goal, to be able to punch his father in the face. As Damai absentmindedly wandered around the village, He was tackled by several 5 year old children all of whom started talking at the same time ¡°hey Damai let¡¯s play tag¡± followed by ¡°no we already played tag, it should be hide and seek¡± next ¡°those are both boring, Damai let¡¯s spar¡± all of them speaking loudly up close ¡°come on Damai choose one¡± Damai was reeling from the sudden tackle and all of the loud noises, so he did not fully understand what was happening and when he finally gained his bearings he heard a familiar voice ¡°alright children, get off Damai he should be tired from today¡¯s training¡± Api remarked as he helped up Damai ¡°aaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwwwww¡±(x3) Api just grinned and said ¡° if ya don¡¯t hurry along then I¡¯ll chuck ya into the lake¡± one child then ran away screaming ¡°aaahhhhh nnnnooooooooo it¡¯s so cold¡± and then the rest of them followed suit while giggling at their friends reaction. When Damai was up Api asked him what was wrong, to which Damai replied ¡°Father told me about there being no family style then laughed at my reaction for a WHOLE ten minutes¡± Api just listened and then chuckled ¡°Kuat did that eh, yeah he always did have a strange sense of humour, hehe I remember one time your old man saw someone slip on one of his banana peels, he was laughing for a full 20 minutes and the one who slipped started to laugh as well, just imagine it, two maniacs laughing uncontrollably in the middle of the village for 20 minutes, it was a ridiculous sight¡± picturing this Damai couldn¡¯t help but giggle, it didn¡¯t really take much to get a member of the village to laugh as everyone enjoyed joking and playing around. Damai then told Api his new goal of punching Kuat in the face and Api then Burst into laughter while saying ¡°good luck kid, your gonna need it¡± the reaction that Api gave only strengthened Damai¡¯s resolve and he ran off, leaving Api who was still grinning at the child. This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience. Later that night, after Damai had calmed down by playing with the children and falling into his own fit of laughter when they found Logam dangling from a trap he made, Damai walked into the room his father was in. Kuat was waiting for his son and then said when Damai had sat down ¡°son, at the beginning this will be difficult, VERY difficult however as you practice it will get easier and easier until it becomes second nature to you, but right now it will be a completely new experience and if you do not concentrate to your fullest then you could cause some serious harm to your body¡± Damai then really started to take in his father¡¯s words, as he had only seen him like this a few times and each time Damai found his father¡¯s words to hold a great deal of truth in them. Damai steeled both his mind and body in preparation and looked back at his father with clear eyes, Kuat saw this and smiled warmly at his hardworking son and proceeded to tell Damai what he needed to do ¡°Son, you need to go into a deep meditation, you need to focus on your body as a whole, keep focusing on your body until you feel a pull from within you and then concentrate on that pull, find out where it originates, follow it through your body and when you find it slowly come out of meditation, okay son¡± Damai listened to his father¡¯s instructions and nodded, it took him an hour of deep meditation to find what he was looking for and following it proved more difficult then he thought, he couldn¡¯t lose concentration for even a second and it took him another hour and a half to find the origin of the feeling. Damai slowly came out of meditation, his father noticed this and simply said ¡°good son, now where did you find it¡± Damai who was now breathing heavily and sweating from the mental strain, pointed towards his stomach, just above his belly button. Kuat picked up his son and lay him down on a blanket and just told him to rest for now and that they would continue in a bit, and after another 40 minutes Damai was ready again. Kuat then explained what Damai had found ¡°that Damai was your Ki chamber it is where the energy your body holds, is stored, and only a small amount of it is used in your everyday life, plus whenever you strengthen your body you expand the size of your KI chamber allowing your to use more energy overall¡± Damai listened and wondered how this could be used in combat. Kuat gave Damai some more instructions on what to do with this new found energy ¡°okay son find the origin point again, it should be easier now that you¡¯ve found it once already, then what I want you to do, is to slowly¡Very slowly move the energy from the KI chamber through your limbs one at a time, start with your legs and then move on to your arms, after doing this once it will become easier and smoother, as if your clearing a path for the energy to move down¡± Damai followed his father¡¯s instructions once again, and as he moved the energy about his body, he noticed how his limbs felt lighter but also stronger when filled with the energy and realized the basic use of his new found power. Damai continued this process with each of his limbs, but when the energy reached his right hand something strange happened, as all of the energy he had been moving was sapped from him and a strange glowing symbol of an eye appeared on the back of his hand. Understandably exhausted from having all of his KI sapped dry, Damai just collapsed breathing heavily and just before he passed out he heard his father say ¡°son we will be visiting the shrine tomorrow¡± Damai then blanked out. Chapter 3 Damai slowly regained consciousness, wondering what had happened, since the last thing he remembered was being suddenly drained of all energy and hearing his father¡¯s voice before he collapsed. He sat up and looked around, he couldn''t tell what it was but he felt different than usual, he felt like he was much calmer than he should have been. Kuat then walked into the room and was relieved to see his son awake and looking much better than before, he sat down next to his son handing him some breakfast at the same time, which Damai happily took off of him. Kuat then told Damai what they would be doing today ¡°son after you¡¯re done eating we shall go to the town shrine¡± hearing this Damai looked puzzled as he questioned his father with his eyes since his mouth was full ¡°the mark on your hand son, it is the mark of one of the god¡¯s, specifically the god of wisdom¡± Kuat then stood up walked to the door and continued to speak ¡°were going to the shrine to find out what the mark is there for and we also have other things to do afterwards but we¡¯ll leave that for later, meet me downstairs when you¡¯re done¡± and with that Kuat left the room, Damai was left with the knowledge that he had the god of wisdoms mark on his right hand and for a few seconds he silently stared at the eye shaped symbol on his hand. A couple minutes later, both Kuat and Damai were leaving the house. As they walked through the village most of the adults noticed Kuat¡¯s troubled expression and then noticed the mark on Damai¡¯s hand, most of the villagers were worrying about what would happen since everybody in the village were close friends and they all knew the joy the boy brought to Kuat. When the two of them reached the shrine Kuat walked over to the alter and prayed to the god of wisdom ¡°oh great god of wisdom, I know it is ignorant of me, but I would like to know your reasoning behind the mark you have bestowed upon my son, no matter how hard I rack my brain I cannot fathom why you would take an interest in him¡± and after Kuat had finished the air around him seemed to vibrate, it was enough to grab ones attention but not enough to seem threatening. A voice was then heard and although you could tell how powerful the being was just through the voice alone, once again it did not seem threatening ¡°worry not Kuat the child is in no danger, the mark is simply a minor blessing of mine he inherited and as of now I can¡¯t tell you where he got it from yet¡± Kuat visibly relaxed after hearing this and replied in a gentle tone ¡°thank you for answering this fools question oh great god¡± and the voice spoke again ¡°Kuat you are a man I find extremely worthy, you took in a lone child and raised it as your own when it was clearly not even a member of your race and you even questioned a god¡¯s motive out of love for your son, you and your village shall be blessed, however if you do not mind I would like to speak to Damai privately¡± Kuat smiled and replied ¡° yes of course, I have things to set up¡¡ and thank you great one¡± and with that Kuat left a shocked Damai while smiling at him, telling him to calm down. Damai was visibly shaken when his father had left so the voice started to try and calm the boy ¡°child calm down, I won¡¯t eat you, I¡¯m just going to tell you about the mark on your hand, so listen carefully¡± Damai was still a little shaky but still managed to listen intently to the voice ¡°Now child do not worry about the mark, it will not affect you much, the most it will do is give you a general idea of an enemy¡¯s weakness but without training your mind it would be useless, you wouldn¡¯t know what it is trying to point out and it is very vague¡± Damai was calmer knowing that his body would not be affected much and that he could live his life as normal, but the voice carried on ¡°child the bigger thing is that you managed to activate the blessing by yourself, usually the blessing would be dormant until a god or a high ranking member of a church gave it power and although people activating by themselves it is not unheard of it is incredibly rare, since it takes a lot of training and energy to do so¡± Damai just listened in wonder as he was told about the mark ¡°us gods decided that those who activated the mark had potential, so we decided that people like you would be given a gift of your own choosing, so what would you like¡± Damai was shocked at the unexpected development stuttered ¡°wh¡ what??¡± the voice seemed to chuckle at the boy¡¯s reaction and spoke ¡°all you have to do is ask for something and I will see if I can get it for you¡± this did nothing to lessen Damai¡¯s shock but he managed to reply ¡°re¡. really, um then could I ask for a tail, like the rest of my people have¡¡ please¡± he said with uncertainty and this time is was the voices turn to be shocked, but it soon got over it ¡°ahahaha ahahaha of all the things in the world you could ask for, you ask for a tail ahahahaha oh classic, boy you are interesting and hear is your tail, now I have other engagements so I shall be on my way¡± Damai shouted back ¡° ahh thank you and goodbye¡± then the presence that had shaken Damai up disappeared and Damai was left with a strange sensation close to his backside This tale has been unlawfully obtained from Royal Road. Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx A woman was sitting by a window looking out with sad eyes as if searching for something, she was considered extremely beautiful by all and when people saw her upset they tried their best to cheer her up but for a long time now the woman has had a sad look on her face. As the woman stared a voice appeared beside her ¡°Jiwa ahahaha, I swear your son is extremely interesting, he passed the trial of the inherited blessing just like you, ahahahaha and then when I asked him what he wanted as a gift he asked for ahahahahah¡..for a¡*snicker*¡. For monkey tail like the villagers he was living with¡± hearing this the sad woman suddenly brightened up and had a confliction of emotions as she wondered why her son would want a monkey¡¯s tail, but was also happy that she had a means of identifying her son. Jiwa knew that Estrawr had said this to her on purpose to cheer her up and it worked extremely well, she now knew what to look for so she quietly thanked the god of wisdom and left to go and see the people who were worried about her. Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Damai left the shrine after a quick and sharp pain appeared and his new tail had grown out, he was struggling to walk for two reasons, one was that his balance was now off with the addition of a tail and the second reason was that the control ring he was wearing affected his newfound tail, as well as the gravity rings, which all helped to keep his currently weak new tail restrained, Damai was going to ask his father if he could take of the rings and slowly get his tail used to each one until he could walk normally again. As he walked through the village he noticed a large number of shocked gasps and stares, the villagers were surprised that Damai had suddenly grown a tail, they wanted to ask him about it but could see he was finding it difficult to move, so they let him be. Damai was trying to find his father but had no idea where he had gone, so he decided to ask Api who told him that his father was waiting for him in the training hall. When he walked in Kuat¡¯s face showed obvious shock and his jaw dropped as he saw his son struggle in with a tail firmly on the ground that previously had not existed, he could only nervously laugh as he guessed what had happened (the god giving him the tail, not the blessing thing) Damai only replied with his own nervous laugh and then asked his father if he could take of the gravity rings so he could train his new tail and Kuat gave him permission after recollecting himself. After Damai had taken of all but the 10% gravity ring he could finally move his new tail how he wanted, although not very well considering he never had one before, but he was nonetheless satisfied at the result and silently vowed he would train it to be strong. Noticing his son was done experimenting with his tail Kuat moved on to what he had originally planned for his son ¡°Damai, look around you, every member of the village has to learn hand to hand combat and also must learn how to use at least one weapon of their choice, walk around the room and find one you wish to learn¡± Damai did as his father said and inspected each weapon testing them out, he felt like he could use most of them given time, but one out of them all seemed to stick in his mind, it felt heavy enough to do damage but not so heavy he couldn¡¯t move it properly, the weapon also fit in his hands well and provided a longer range, the weapon he chose was the Bo staff and satisfied with his choice, he took the staff back to his father. Kuat looked at the weapon his son chose and was secretly delighted that his son had chosen the same weapon he did, Kuat then gave Damai basic instructions on how to use the staff but the rest Damai would have to learn by himself, Kuat also taught his son that KI could be transferred into his weapon. Damai spent the next four years training his tail, Bo staff techniques and sparred with his father a lot. When he turned 16 it was time for his first hunt to commence. Chapter 4 ¡°Son, it is time for your first hunt¡± Kuat said to his now 16 year old son, the entire village had gathered for the coming of age ceremony where each new adult gets three hours to go out by themselves and hunt, the hunters either have to return after three hours are up, create a fire to signal their location to the rest of the village, or return before the three hours are up with their catch. To make sure no one die¡¯s two expert hunters always hide their presence and follow the new adults. There is a reason behind the villages extreme training, they do not do it just for fun, there are in fact extremely dangerous animals that live in the vicinity of the village and the normal training that the children do should bring their strength to the average level of the forest, but they are by no means the strongest beings on the mountain, even Damai and Salju pale in comparison to some of the monsters on the mountain, the real reason behind this hunting ceremony is to teach the young ones, who grew up in relative safety, the dangers of the world. Damai as the village leader¡¯s son was the first one up to the challenge and he was nervous. He had sparred a lot before and had extensive training, but this would be his first real battle, both him and creature he chose will be fighting for their LIVES and he was shaken. Kuat seeing his son¡¯s nerves tried to calm him down and succeeded by mentioning all the training Damai had done and that it would amount to something, he told Damai that he was not helpless because he had turned his body into a weapon and a shield that would protect him. Damai steeled himself and left for the forest, he trekked through following the tracks of one of the weaker animals, when all of the sudden he heard a very loud and very high pitched scream, he started to panic wondering what was wrong but quickly slapped himself to regain his calm. Damai ran in the direction he heard the scream and when he reached the area he saw something unexpected, he saw a group of 5 people, 3 of them were women and the other two were men, one of the women had lost consciousness and was lying to the side of the clearing, one other woman and a man were standing by her and appeared to be heavily injured while the other two were running away. The group that had stayed were being charged by a Rockhide boar, and as the name suggests it has very tough skin, but it is also very aggressive to the point that only expert hunters were meant to hunt them solo, but at this point Damai had little choice in the matter as he needed to save the people being attacked. Damai jumped up to a height by kicking off the tree trunks and when he was high enough let himself fall towards the boar, while infusing his KI into his arms and BO staff, thanks to the increase in weight due to the gravity rings he accelerated quickly and smashed his staff down on the boars head as hard as he could. The boar was stunned by the sudden attack and was diverted from his original course, but was by no means defeated; it quickly recovered and charged Damai who was back into a stance. Damai was caught off guard by the speed the boar demonstrated and just barely dodged but he received a wound on his arm, he realized that head on he would lose from just that exchange, since if he took off the gravity rings he would gain a lot of speed but would lose the power he needed to damage the boar. Damai came up with a plan and for the next 20 minutes he kept agitating the boar, using his tail as whip with a small amount of KI in it, getting it angrier and angrier, letting its rage consume the little intelligence the poor creature had and eventually Damai led the boar off a small cliff, the boar did not die but it did receive injuries. While the boar was stunned, Damai jumped to a large tree close by and focused all of his KI into his right fist, Damai broke the tree trunk and used his still powered up fist to position the falling tree above the boar, the tree hit and even though it was twice as thick Damai, the boar still did not die ¡°OH FOR THE LOVE OF¡..¡± Damai said tiredly, slightly out of breath from the large amount of KI lost. The boar was not dead but it was now heavily injured and pinned underneath the tree, then the god of wisdoms blessing kicked in and showed him that the weak point of the boar was somewhere around its underbelly, Damai watched the boar until he saw a slight dip in the boars flesh on its stomach, he figured that since this was the only noticeable thing about the area, that the dip must be the weak point. Damai¡¯s guess paid off as he stood to the side of the boar and charged his staff with the remaining KI he had, he then thrust with all his strength at the dip and the boar¡¯s life was instantly lost. Damai rested for a couple minutes before he realized something ¡°OH, the injured people¡± and he ran off to the group he had saved. Stolen content alert: this content belongs on Royal Road. Report any occurrences. Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx The group of adventures had come to the mountain to find some rare monsters, three of the group were against it but the other 2 just kept pushing for it and since they were the strongest of the group the other¡¯s believed they had a chance, although one, a woman called Kaya, still doubted it and often argued with the two bragger¡¯s, if it wasn¡¯t for her best friends going with them, she would of left the group. One of the arrogant ones led the trek up the mountain, while the other started to make sarcastic comments towards Kaya, the other two were excited to be traveling with strong people and did not notice Kaya¡¯s annoyance. As the group moved on they travelled a fair distance up the mountain and did not really meet any real threats, because of this the arrogant ones started to make even more sarcastic comments towards Kaya, then the male annoyance suddenly shouted ¡°ahahahaha were strong, the monsters can tell and they stay away¡± in a loud voice, which startled everybody and made them lose concentration on their surroundings. The next thing Kaya saw was a large pig like creature heading towards her friend, Kaya jumped in the way and used all of her mana and strength to perform a counter shot. The result of it was that the monster got sent back a few feet but because it had so much power Kaya was unable to negate all of the damage and was knocked unconscious just after seeing the boar charge again. Darkness enshrouded her and she thought her time was up. Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx (Author note-those two jackasses will get what¡¯s coming to them¡¡.*evil smile* trust me) Damai finally found the other people and attempted to talk to them but quickly realized they could not understand him and likewise he could not understand them, he pondered for a minute and then opened a small bag strapped around his waist that was mostly filled with bandages and tonics for wounds, however in a small pocket he found two necklaces holding purple crystals, the crystals were created to allow hunters in groups to communicate while staying silent, he put one around his neck and handed the other one to the two people and watched as they bickered between who would wear it. When it was finally decided the man would wear it, Damai used it to transmit his thoughts, he believed that the crystals would be able to help them communicate and he was correct, when the man put the necklace on Damai asked him a question in his mind ¡°can you understand me? If you can then in order to reply you need to just think about what you want to say¡± and after this the man showed a clearly shocked face, but he managed to recollect himself and reply ¡°yes I understand, what are these things?¡± Damai smiled knowing that his idea worked and replied ¡°these are thought transmitters, they are convenient but difficult to make, they also only work over a short distance, so stay close¡± the man heard and nodded then Damai continued ¡°you and your friend should sit down I need to apply bandages to your wounds, your other friend will need better treatment so I shall bring you to my village if you are okay with that¡± the man was surprised to hear that there was a village nearby, he had never heard of one being in this area before. After Damai had finished bandaging all the wounds he could he asked if the man could carry his friend and after the man said yes he ran back to the boar and brought it with him, it had now been about 2 hours since his hunting session began and he was finally heading back to the village. Twenty minutes later and the group had reached a clearing but the surrounding trees were very clustered, then Damai just stopped and said ¡°were hear, hold on a second¡± the man was shocked once again by what Damai had said, since he could see nothing. Damai then jumped of the ground with incredible strength towards a tree, which he then kicked off of to reach even higher and continued this process until he was 300ft (91m) high and reached his village that was built atop the trees, this was another reason behind the harsh training as the villagers needed access to the village. The man and woman watched Damai with awe and amazement at his strength, and when they saw where he was going their jaws dropped, they had never seen a massive tree house village before, then a platform with Damai on it came down and Damai was able to speak to the man again ¡°get on, the other villagers will pull us up¡± and for the first time (excluding Damai, who was raised as one of their own) another race entered the ape beastman village. (the real adventure starts next chapter) Chapter 5 ¡°Now do you see Chronos, the child was just able to defeat that boar, he poses no threat to us gods¡± Estrawr said looking at a crystal ball that showed Damai¡¯s battle against the rockhide boar, Chronos just snorted and replied ¡°the brat did not use any godly powers he may have inherited, he could still possess enough power to threaten us, he just isn¡¯t showing it yet¡± Estrawr glared at the chaos god who was looking for every excuse possible to kill Damai ¡°we have already sealed any godly powers he may possess and they are dormant, if he wanted to gain access to them he would need to break 5 seals each one more powerful than the other, I¡¯ll say it once again, he is of no threat to us¡± this clearly angered Chronos who walked away while seething in rage, Chronos wanted Damai dead and nobody knew how far he would go to see it happen. Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Damai helped haul up the platform, after jumping back up to the village, which held both the rockhide boar he had hunted and the people he had rescued. When they had reached the top, all of the villagers were surprised to see not only a rockhide boar, but also three beings who like Damai had no fur on their arms or legs and they watched as Damai led them to the villages¡¯ medicine cabin. When they were inside told the man, whose name was Ben, to lay down Kaya on the bed and that the doctor would treat her injuries. The entire time both Ben and his friend, Freya, were speechless from the size of the village they had seen and the amount of inhabitants, not to mention this was the first time either of them had seen this race of beastmen. To their knowledge this area was supposed to only hold strong monsters, not a village of beastmen, and ape beastmen at that. They had heard stories from some of their beastmen friends about the ape tribe, and how they were considered to be the strongest of the beastmen tribe and had secret techniques which they would not teach to outsider¡¯s, but to balance it out it was said that they had no talent in manipulating mana and could only use the most basic abilities of magic. The two also noted how friendly the people in the village seemed to be since the children came up and started asking questions while their parents just watched with smiles all around, Damai had to shoo the children away while explaining about the language problem. Damai brought Ben and Freya to his house and into a spare room, he told them that they could stay here until they were fully healed, then much to the shock of all three of them, a large ape beastman burst into the room and tackled Damai while making sobbing noises, Ben and Freya understood nothing of what was said, but from Damai¡¯s perspective it went like this ¡°DDDAAAAMMMMAAAAIIII¡± screamed Kuat while crying and hugging his son ¡°HOW COULD YOU BE SO FOOLISH AS TO TAKE ON A ROCKHIDE BOAR ON YOUR FIRST REAL FIGHT¡± he said with mixed emotions, he was relieved, worried, upset and impressed all at the same time and Damai struggled to calm him down, in the end he changed the topic to the new guests and gave his father the thought transmitter. Kuat began to speak to Ben who had the other crystal and asked a few questions ¡°hello my name is Kuat and I am the leader of this village, I¡¯m sorry if my son caused you any trouble¡± at this first bit of conversation Ben seemed flabbergasted, after all Damai had saved their lives how could he have caused trouble ¡°no no no no, he caused no trouble, we should be thanking you since Damai saved our lives and your even treating our friends wounds¡± and then Kuat continued ¡°if you don¡¯t mind young man could I ask you some questions?¡± Ben nodded in response and Kuat asked away. By the end of Kuats questions, he had gotten a lot of information, Firstly the people in front of him were of a different race even though they looked similar, Secondly there were lots of race¡¯s out there besides them, Third was that at the base of the mountain they lived on (about a 4 day¡¯s journey going down) there was a large city that housed many races, fourth was because the fact that this place was considered dangerous for normal people only adventurers D rank and above were allowed up, and fifth was information regarding these adventurers, they were people who trained to be stronger than the average man or woman, they took on others requests to defeat monsters or to explore areas for money and finally they were divided into ranks depending on their abilities, which went like this F,E,D,C,B,A,S and finally Z rank (hehe) Ben had said that him and his friends were all D rank, which the majority of adventurers fell into. After receiving all of the information Kuat started to think about his son, he was impressed when he heard that his son had taken down a rockhide, but he found out from Ben that the boar was classed as only a C rank monster, and his son had some difficulty in defeating it. Kuat spent a few day¡¯s pondering and when Kaya had regained consciousness, he finally made his decision. He asked the three adventurers to come to his house and then using the crystal he spoke to Ben ¡°Ben, over the past couple of day¡¯s I have come to know that you three are good people, so if you forgive my suddenness on the matter, I have a request to ask of you all¡± Ben asked what the request was and said that they would do their best to help him ¡°Thank you, but this will not be easy¡¡. I would like you to take my son with you on your journey, and to help him learn all he can about the outside world, he is strong and has potential to be stronger, but he is naive and does not know the strength of beings outside of the forest, basically I am asking you and your friends to teach my son what he needs to survive outside of the village¡± and like that Ben was speechless, seeing his shocked face Freya asked him what the request was to which Ben fully explained what had been asked of them, after hearing the request both Freya and Kaya were okay with it, since it meant a fun new companion they got along with, who was also strong but didn¡¯t like to brag, and although Kaya hadn¡¯t spoken to him much, since she just woke up, she felt like she had seen enough to know he was a good person. Ben, after hearing the opinion of the girls, could no longer see any reason not to, so he accepted Kuats request, and Kuat smiled wondering how he was going to break the news to Damai. Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings. Later that day Kuat called his son into his room, Damai had been receiving strange looks from the rest of the village and when he looked into their faces, Damai could see some sadness in them and he wondered why. Damai found out why when he went to see his father ¡°Damai, I have a request to make of you¡± Kuat said to his son with a serious face ¡°what is it you ask of me father¡± Damai replied back with a smile, which made Kuat feel extremely guilty, but he calmed himself knowing that it was for his sons own good ¡°I¡¡ I would like you to go with Ben, Freya and Kaya to travel as an adventurer, while honing your skills and gaining experience¡ Becoming stronger son¡± Damai¡¯s smile instantly disappeared, he could see his father¡¯s reasoning, but at the same time was hurt that he was telling Damai to leave the village, he could barely stammer out a response ¡°bu-but father i¡¡.i¡± before he could finish Kuat cut him off ¡°son, you have a lot of potential to become stronger and smarter, but here in this isolated village your potential is wasted and as your father I wish to see you become the best you can be, I am struggling with myself in order to give you the chance to grow into a man far beyond me and the other villagers and you already know that you get along with those three, you should have grand adventures and come back with some amazing stories to share¡± and no matter which way he thought about it Damai couldn¡¯t think of a way to change his father¡¯s mind, he did however fully see his father¡¯s warm intentions and knew that if he refused he would be throwing away a marvellous opportunity given to him, so he silently hugged his father who said to Damai while tearing up slightly ¡°the village knows of my decision, and Ben, Freya and Kaya are waiting for you, there is no need to say goodbye since we know you will come back sooner or later¡± if anybody walked into the room right then and there, they would have seen to men with bulging muscles crying and hugging each other ¡°thank you¡± Damai quietly whispered and he left with tears still in his eyes to the group of three waiting for him, they saw the tears in his eyes and thought it was better to stay silent for now and the four of them left for the city. The next day Damai was calmer but was still slightly depressed when all of the sudden Kaya remembered something and took the thought transmitter off of Ben ¡°Damai here this is from your father he told us to give it to you, he said it would remind you of your life here at the village¡± Damai thanked her and gave a gentle smile, but he missed the her slightly red cheeks after he took the bag and when he opened it he found 4 rings, each of them gravity rings that increased his weight by 100%, and he just laughed at them, quickly lightening everybody¡¯s mood even though no one knew what was so funny about the rings. During the trip to the city Ben the most studious and patient of the three taught Damai the most commonly used language, English and he was amazed when Damai became fluent in only three days. On the journey whenever they came across a monster, Kaya taught Damai how to fight in a group or party of people and was pleased when he came to understand the best way to help the healer (Freya) and the mage (Ben), Damai knew they were a lot more experienced than him and listened to everything they said, although he did put some ideas forward when it came to battle tactics and whatnot. Finally after 4 days of travel, lessons and questions the group reached the city and Damai was amazed, he stood staring mouth wide open looking at the hundreds, possibly thousands of different people, he listened to all the noise made, and marvelled at the sight of buildings that were 3 storeys high, and when he finally regained his composure he heard Kaya speak ¡°well if we¡¯re going to be a party, then we need to get Damai in the adventurers guild ¡° and smiled as she walked towards one of the bigger buildings. Chapter 6 Chronos was furious at Estrawr who got rid of every chance he had to kill Vax¡¯s child, Chronos had always hated Vax but knew that he was no match for him in combat, so he was constantly looking for ways to hurt him and at first he didn¡¯t care what became of Damai but he wanted the kid dead when he saw how much Vax loved him. Chronos then remembered something, Damai had saved some humans but there were another 2 that ran away, interested in what happened to them, he searched and what he found made him smile with glee, since the 2 humans who had run away were in fact back at the spot where they left the others looking for their dead bodies, their plan had been to lure the group into a dangerous area wait to be attacked then leave the group to die, they came back later to collect the equipment so they could sell it. The 2 of them were visibly angry at the fact they could not find the bodies, when all of a sudden they heard a deep, wild sounding voice ¡°hehehe your actions have amused me humans, the people you tried to kill are in fact still alive, thanks to someone who I happen to want dead, kill him for me and I Chronos, the god of chaos shall reward you¡± the 2 of them were shocked since a god was speaking to them, but they soon became overcome with greed and left, but not before a rockhide boar attacked them and the man instantly killed it with his sword, they came up with plans on how to kill their target and walked down the mountain laughing evilly. Damai just stared at his new Adventurers card with confusion and asked Kaya some questions ¡°What is an associate guild? What does it mean by Titles earned? And do I have to get a new card whenever I rank up?¡± he asked in one breath eager to find out more about the card and Kaya laughing at the bumpkins extreme lack of knowledge replied ¡°An associate guild is a place where you can train, based on your style of fighting you can go to different guilds, Ben who is a mage goes to the magic guild and I prefer the front lines but am not very calm, so I go to the warriors guild, you should go to the monks guild if you want to see what they are like¡± Damai nodded and she carried on ¡°Titles earned is exactly like it say¡¯s, titles that people give, and know you by sometimes they can be as simple as ¡®silver flash¡¯ whereas others can be something like ¡®skull crusher¡¯ usually they depend on your actions¡± and Damai noted that he should try to not do anything embarrassing ¡°and finally, no you do not need a new card each time, it will now update automatically¡± she said causing Damai to sigh in relief as he remembered how tedious it was. The two of them met up with Ben and Freya who had disappeared earlier and they suddenly grabbed Damai and took him to an inn, they shoved him inside and before he knew it a large group of women had stripped him and thrown him into a bath, they washed him even though he continuously said he could do it himself and after 45 minutes of embarrassment they finally let him out, he dried and covered himself with the towel, the women then came back, they pinned him on a chair and gave him a haircut and when they were finally done he was left with brand new clothes neatly folded up next to him. He put them on since he had no choice and walked out to find the two who had orchestrated this event and was frozen stiff when a lot of eyes were focused on him. All three of his companions were slack jawed, who could¡¯ve known that a messy dirt covered boy with long, unruly hair could turn out so handsome when it was all gone, Damai nervously walked towards his friends since he had never experienced this kind of attention before and it only subsided when everybody else saw that he already had companions. ¡°Looking good¡± Freya complimented and Damai just replied with a cold tone ¡°was it really necessary to hire a bunch of women to wash me, I could¡¯ve done it myself you know¡± to which Ben replied confused ¡°what¡. All we did was hire the bath for you, we didn¡¯t hire anybody to wash you¡.. I don¡¯t even think that¡¯s possible¡± and then the barkeep, who was nearby and overheard them, said ¡°hahaha well my girls have a good sense for men and could tell you were gonna be handsome so they kind of got a little bit excited¡.. I¡¯m really sorry I should have controlled them, they even cut your hair for you¡± Damai just internally screamed, it wasn¡¯t the hair he was bothered about. The group then noticed that the waitresses in the inn were all stealing glances at Damai and giggling with each other, everybody¡¯s reaction was different, Ben and Freya were laughing, Kaya seemed angry and Damai had shivers going down his spine, he urged the others to leave so he could get away from this place. The others eventually agreed since they were starting to attract the attention of the other patrons and they left while discussing what to do next ¡°how about we all go to the monks guild and help Damai get set up, he has no idea of what to do so we should help him¡± Kaya said to which Ben and Freya agreed, so the group left for the monks guild. They entered into one of the larger buildings and walked to the receptionist ¡°hello and welcome to the monks guild, what can I do for you¡± sad the receptionist when he noticed the group ¡°Hi my friend here would like to join the guild please¡± said Freya as she nodded to Damai, who in turn smiled at the receptionist ¡°okay no problem, just show me your Adventurers card and I¡¯ll get you all signed up, just so you know if the guild needs your help at all we can ask of your help whenever we want, we will of course make sure your available but you cannot refuse our requests, don¡¯t worry though it¡¯s fairly rare this actually happens¡± Damai nodded and handed the card over ¡°hmm F Rank huh, in that case see that woman over there, go and ask her for the basic monk techniques and show her you¡¯re A card (shortening it) Damai nodded and thanked the receptionist, he then walked over to the woman ¡°excuse me, the receptionist said you could teach me the basics¡± he said as he held his A card out, the woman glanced at it and then started speaking ¡°okay it¡¯s really easy all you have to do is wrap your Mana around the outside of your body , this will act as reinforcement and has slight defensive capabilities¡± Damai then replied with a question that made everybody who heard it fall over ¡°uummmm I¡¯ve been hearing the word being used every now and then, but what is Mana exactly¡± and after everybody was on their feet again the four people in his immediate surroundings shouted at him ¡°HOW CAN YOU NOT KNOW ABOUT MANA!!!???¡± the stunned Damai barely answered ¡°Wha- what?, I was never taught how to use it in the village, they didn¡¯t even mention it¡± ¡°Then what is that small white glow you give off when you¡¯re in a fight?¡± asked Kaya ¡°small glow? AH you mean my KI¡± an answer he regretted giving ¡°WWHHHAAATTTT!!!!!???¡± both Kaya and the monk woman screamed in unison ¡°It takes a warrior or monk years to learn how to FIND the KI in their body let alone use it in combat, the people who manage it have spent most of their life trying to master it, HOW CAN YOU USE IT!!!!!?????¡± Damai was fairly scared that the two woman were going to attack him but he managed to answer ¡°ev-everybody in the village begins to learn when they are twelve, it¡¯s a tradition¡± the monk woman, not knowing Damai¡¯s origins continued to scream, while Kaya had calmed down ¡°WHAT SORT OF VILLAGE IS THIS!!!!????¡± she screamed and by now a crowd had formed around the group, then Damai¡¯s salvation came in from the crowd ¡°What is all this racket about, wha- Issi? You¡¯re not usually one to cause a commotion¡± and the monk woman¡¯s (Issi) face paled ¡°Forgive me master, but this child here has no knowledge whatsoever about Mana and yet he claims to use KI in battle¡± she replied to the man ¡°is that so? Okay then how about a test? Boy use your KI and attack me, let me see what your capable of¡± and at this, all the monks in the room gasped. The man started to give off pressure and Damai could tell he was strong, he wasn¡¯t going to let go of such an opportunity, he nodded in reply and let his KI flow through his body. Seeing this the man was already impressed and then Damai attacked and showed the monk the power his body held, but the monk easily blocked it using his own KI and body strength. The monks KI was actually not as far along as Damai¡¯s, but thanks to his years of training, his body held a lot more strength than Damai¡¯s. If you encounter this tale on Amazon, note that it''s taken without the author''s consent. Report it. After 5 minutes of Damai continuously surprising the monk and everybody else around him with his abilities the monk ended the battle, he stared at Damai ¡°boy, you said it was a village tradition to learn to use KI, that would explain why your better at it than me, but in all my years I have never heard of such a village, just where are you from¡± Damai who was frustrated that none of his attacks worked took some time to answer ¡°I grew up in the Ape beastman village, the leader raised me¡± and the monk was shocked ¡°well¡.. I guess that explains the tail, I thought the Ape beastmen were only legends, but apparently the martial arts experts of the beastmen races do exist¡± he thought for a moment and then carried on ¡°Alright boy, learn how to use Mana from Issi there, she¡¯s a good teacher and after a month, I want you to enter the city¡¯s battle tournament, don¡¯t worry nobody above C Rank can enter, I will be watching and if you manage to impress me in the tournament, then I will give you an item that will greatly benefit your body¡¯s physical training, now everybody off with you, the boy¡¯s got work to do¡± and with that the crowd started to disperse, all of them whispering about Damai. The original group of four was dumfounded since one of the master monks had said he would reward Damai, and Issi was extremely intrigued about the Ape beastmen, Damai wanted to start training right away, but he needed new Training/Battle clothes, the ones he had right now were not suitable for any physical activity, so the group of three left and Ben made Damai check his A card before leaving to make sure it wasn¡¯t faulty.

The group was surprised at first, but all except Damai thought that it was to be expected with the large crowd they gathered, word travels fast after all and a certain two people found out the whereabouts of their target a few days later, and they planned for the tournament 1 month away. Chapter 7 (Author note: if anyone has a better name for the fiction then feel free to say it. I have a horrible naming sense.) xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx As the month went by Damai had trained both his body and his Mana control, thanks to his experience with KI, he was able to sense Mana particularly easily he just had to look elsewhere to find it, this allowed him to be more aware of Magic and gave him more time to dodge since he could now sense Mana gathering in the opponents hands. Damai also used his rings and became able to act normally under 550% normal gravity. There was only one thing that troubled Damai and that was the fact that he could not use Mana that well, the reason being his KI since the two energies clashed and cancelled each other and this predicament continued no matter what he tried, the only thing that gave him and hope of using Mana properly was the fact that when the two energies clashed inside of him, he could feel a small amount of each energy fusing together, although it never lasted any length of time, he could feel those moments when it happened and instinctively knew it was possible to meld the energies together, he just had to find out how. Damai was not the only one participating in the tournament, both Kaya and Ben where as well, since Freya was the group healer and was a very weak fighter so she opted out, Ben went to the Mages guild and worked his mind as much as he could to improve his Magical capabilities and Kaya did the same but with the warriors guild. The three of them continued to train and get ready for the tournament, however Damai was severely disappointed by his progress, by the end of the month the only thing he could do with his Mana was wrap it around his body like armour, while he had KI coursing through the inside of his body, This by all means gave him the best defence a monk can ever achieve but he could not use any more advanced techniques, not even ones newbie monks could use, so for the last week he dedicated himself to meditation and tried to figure out the relationship between Mana and KI. After the Month was over the group met up and signed up for the tournament the day before it started, tomorrow they would have to battle through the preliminaries and everybody thought it would be best to get a good night¡¯s sleep. Damai, Ben and Kaya all spoke about how much they managed to improve over the last month and hoped that they would not meet each other in the prelims. Damai spent the last of his time before he slept moving the two energies around his body as smoothly as possible, he sent them in different directions so as to push himself. In the morning the three of them nervously walked to the prelim arena, these matches were held privately and had a time limit so that they would be finished quickly. This was the first time any of the group had ever participated in a tournament so they were understandably nervous, Freya did her best to cheer them up as they walked but to no avail. When the three finally got to the arena they had to draw lots to see which of the four quarters they would be put into, they were both happy and sad with the result. They were happy that they would not have to fight each other, but they were also going to separate into different groups, they would not know who had won until all of the prelims were over. They wished each other luck and then proceeded to their areas. In order to make the competitors more enthusiastic, the tournament organisers mentioned a special guest who would be watching the main fights after the prelims, they told all the competitors that the high priestess of Estrawr was coming and immediately cheers could be heard from nearly everyone, the reason for this was the fact that, not only was the priestess said to be extremely beautiful but she was also very high up in a very powerful church, they all thought that should they impress her, they could get a chance to earn some good rewards. Damai was one of the few who didn¡¯t react to this bit of information and was confused as to why everyone was now excited even more than before, while questioning their actions he looked around the room and saw something in the far corner, it was a large box like object that was covered by a cloth. He was intrigued by this and wandered over to it, he peaked under the cloth covering the object and was shocked as to what he found. Monsters were ranked into groups depending on strength, difficulty to defeat and intelligence, this gave adventurers the ability to see what they could take on in combat. Among the monsters there were a few that were considered milestones, and by defeating them solo you could prove your abilities. Damai was looking at one such monster, defeating this monster showed you were one of the stronger C ranks and that you had the potential to become a B Rank adventurer. Damai was staring into the sad eyes of a Magma Monkey. The Magma Monkey looked at Damai with eye¡¯s that seethed hatred and anger, until she noticed the tail that was wrapped around his waist. Damai was then shocked greatly with what he heard next ¡°that tail¡¡ impossible, the Ape man tribe¡± Damai heard coming from the Magma Monkey in a feminine voice, it took him a while to get over his shock ¡°y-yes I am, I did not know others could speak our language¡± the hatred in her eye¡¯s had gone but the sadness and anger were still there although none of it was focused at Damai. They are just as rotten as the monsters they hunt¡± Damai could tell she had been wronged badly but he was still irritated by what she said since it insulted his friends ¡°Not all humans are rotten, some are good people¡± he almost shouted ¡°of course child, my apologies I know that but a human took away all the joy in my life, he put me in this cage¡± Damai quickly replied ¡°no my apologies I did not mean to snap, also my name is Damai, may I ask what happened to you¡± Monya thought for a bit and nodded, Damai knew that his fight was last due to his late signup. ¡°Child I met humans before when I was young so I knew to stay away and if I met them I knew to just try to run away, I lived a peaceful life and had 5 children, they were the joy in my life, they were my everything, one day my children were out playing, I had told them not to run too far but they were young and foolish.¡± Monya choked a bit and had tears on her face, which quickly disappeared thanks to the fire on her head ¡°I heard them cry for me, so I rushed over and a human was holding all of my children in bag, he used them as hostages and forced me into a cage and then ¡¡¡¡± she was now sobbing but managed to continue ¡°and then he killed them, all of them, all of my babies were killed and I could do nothing but watch as the human laughed while doing it¡¡.i did my best to get out of the cage but¡¡. It was too strong, my hatred of humans started then, and then I was brought into town where stones were thrown, I was cut through the bars with daggers and I was humiliated, my hatred only grew stronger¡± Damai was shaking by the end of it. ¡°who?¡± Damai said in a barely audible voice, which confused Monya ¡°Who was it that did this to you?¡± he said louder and seething with his own rage and a look of pure anger showing on his face, Monya felt grateful for Damai¡¯s sympathy ¡°I do not know a name, all I know is that he uses a sword, he has a blessing of the chaos god, and he is taking part in this tournament, it is the reason I still live, to get revenge on him in the tournament, I am to fight the victor for the entertainment of the humans¡± hearing this only fuelled Damai¡¯s rage ¡°sorry Monya, you might not be able to get your revenge, but I will make up for it by requesting your freedom when I win the tournament¡± Damai said and he walked off to the arena where his turn was soon approaching. Monya could only smile as she felt the kindness of another for the first time in a while, and decided that she would do her best to help this child. Damai¡¯s name was called and he stepped up onto the stage still smouldering in rage and he needed to let it out, unfortunately for his opponent his senses and strength were in top form, he strengthened his staff with KI and Mana and focused completely on his opponent, who was now feeling the ridiculous amount of pressure coming off of Damai towards him. Scared and with no other options, the man who seemed to be a Monk charged at Damai and struck him in the chest with all of his strength, he thought he had one won but after stepping back he saw a cold look in Damai¡¯s eye and realized that his attack with all of his strength had done absolutely nothing. He was then, without realizing what happened, sent flying backwards and hit a wall, losing consciousness. The entire hall was speechless at the spectacle and Damai, now a bit calmer, walked off of the stage and back to Monya, and continued to stay there and got to know her better. By the end of the prelims, the two had become good friends and Damai was feared by all other participants in the room, thanks to his consecutive 1 hit K.O¡¯s, he knew however that the actual tournament would be much more difficult. All the other people who passed the prelims gathered in the hall Damai was in ¡°IT¡¯S HIM¡± shouted Monya startling Damai, he knew what she was talking about and followed her gaze, he was shocked to see that it was one of the two that had run away from the rockhide boar. Both of those two were in the hall, but Damai only had business with one, and he decided he would settle it in the tournament, during battle. He looked around and saw that out of the seven other Participants, he only knew three, the two who ran and Kaya, he realized that Ben must have lost, he then noticed the extremely angry look on Kaya¡¯s face when she saw the two who ran and Damai was relieved she didn¡¯t think of them as friends still, since he was itching to beat one of them into the ground. He then called over Kaya, so they could catch up. Chapter 8 Damai gave Kaya another crystal necklace but this was a different colour to the thought transmitters, compared to the purple crystals this was a bright blue colour, when she put it on the strange noises Damai and Monya were making changed into words, she could now understand what they were saying ¡°that is a translation crystal, it was part of the gift father gave me, it translates foreign languages so you can understand what is being said, the only downside is that it does not translate what you say, so others would not understand you but both me and Monya here can understand human language so you can speak normally¡± Kaya was again shocked at the crystal and the Ape beastmens ability to craft. While everyone was waiting for the organisers of the tournament to arrive the three of them continued to speak, onlookers only understanding Kaya¡¯s words. Monya took more time to accept Kaya than she did with Damai, but after a while they became friends and Kaya got over the initial shock of speaking to a Magma Monkey. As the group talked they realised that they all disliked ¡®the two that ran¡¯ and Kaya hoped she would get a chance to beat them down, she became just as outraged as Damai when she heard what the man did and told both Damai and Monya the names of the two. Damai and Monya burned the name Brilik into their minds. The tournament organisers finally arrived with a white board showing the tournament table and a small box with a hole in the top ¡°contestants gather round please¡± was said, so Damai and Kaya left Monya and joined the rest of the group in the middle ¡°okay, you will each draw from this box, you will pull out a ball with a number on it and the number will decide your position on the board and In turn your place in the tournament¡± Damai and Kaya hoped they wouldn¡¯t have to fight each other. ¡°First will Claire come up please¡± Brilik¡¯s companion walked up and got her number ¡°Alright number 5, you will be in fight 3, next is Roggan, please come up¡± a big man twice the size of Damai walked up, his hand barely fit in the box ¡°number 2, fight 1 four you sir¡± and like this the selection went on and by the end of it the board looked like this.

¡°The first fight will take place in half an hour, please prepare yourself and now onto the rules there are only two but we have to inform you of them, First killing is not allowed if you kill your opponent you will be disqualified and thrown in jail and secondly any items that affect your body and could possibly give you an advantage are not allowed, if you have such items then show them to me and I will tell you if they are allowed or not¡± only Damai showed any items and when the organiser saw the rings he stared wide eyed at the young man walking around with them on as if it was nothing. ¡±Th-these are allowed, but because they pose more of a disadvantage you can take them off whenever you want¡± Damai nodded and walked back to Kaya, who was chuckling at the organisers reaction. Damai observed the other contestants, Roggan was the large man, he had two large axes strapped on his back and wore spiked armour that you would see a gladiator wearing, Gladice wore a long robe and had glass bottles filled with a variety of substances, her face was expressionless but her eyes sent shivers down Damai¡¯s spine and not just him but Kaya felt it as well. Jackie Chun just seemed to be an old man in a white and black GI staring at all three of the women with a strange expression, Kaya looked back at him in disgust although Damai had no idea why. The one known as Anonymous wore a hood that covered his face and he had two daggers strapped to his waist but other than these, he had very light cloths on, when Damai looked closely at him, Anonymous seemed to be shaking. Claire had a wooden staff meant to aid in magic casting, it was shorter and weaker than Damai¡¯s bo-staff, she wore simple robes and had an arrogant expression that sickened Damai. Brilik wore armour that covered most of his body and on his back he had a great sword, everybody could tell it would be hard to do damage to him and like Claire he wore an expression that made want to vomit, Damai looked away but not before seeing the mark on Brilik¡¯s hand that was similar to his own. Little did Damai know that they were all observing him as well, they all saw the organiser¡¯s reaction and were all intrigued but they were also very wary of him. After a while of talking and exchanging tactics with Monya and Kaya, Damai was called out with Roggan to the main arena. They walked out and Damai was caught off guard by the sudden amount of noise and all the attention focused on himself, he hesitated for a moment but recollected himself and continued on to the starting points in the arena. ¡°LADIE¡¯S AND GENTLEMEN, WE ARE NOW STARTING THE FIRST FIGHT OF THE TOURNAMENT¡± and with that the already loud stadium, which surrounded the arena, burst into an entirely new level of noise, Damai froze for an instant in shock and by the time he managed to regain himself the audience had quieted down and the announcer had begun to speak again ¡°OUR FIRST CONTESTANTS ARE IN THE ARENA, ON THE RIGHT IN THE MONK GI WE HAVE DAMAI, THE MARTIAL ARTS PRODIGY AND AN F RANK ADVENTURER¡± even more cheer¡¯s burst forth but this time he kept calm ¡°AND ON THE OTHER SIDE IN THE SPIKED ARMOUR WE HAVE ROGGAN, THE CLEAVER AND A D RANK ADVENTURER¡± and once again the cheers came. ¡±WE HAVE THE CONTESTANTS ADVENTURER CARDS ON THE SCREEN BEHIND THE ARENA, TO GIVE YOU INFORMATION ON THE THEM¡± ¡°NOW CONTESTANTS FIGHT¡± in an instant Damai had focused on Roggan only, completely blocking out the audience, Roggan charged at Damai with surprising speed for someone so large but it was nothing Damai couldn¡¯t handle, he jumped to the side and thrust his staff into Roggan¡¯s stomach three times in succession without KI or Mana, Roggan felt nothing and his confidence rose, he sliced his axe towards Damai who blocked it with just a Mana strengthened staff, but he was pushed to the ground by the force of the blow. On his back with Roggan above him Damai quickly pushed off the ground with his tail, he sprung towards and dived for the large gap in between his legs, while doing this he wrapped his tail around one of Roggan¡¯s legs and using his momentum pulled him over, this time Roggan was on his back confused at what happened and before he could get up Damai struck him in the stomach again with all of his strength and it was reinforced with both KI and Mana. Roggan thought that it would be as weak as last time so he didn¡¯t bother putting up any defences wanting to demoralise Damai, he was instantly in agony, he gave an almighty and desperate scream and fainted from the pain of the blow. The crowd who were expecting the same thing as Roggan were speechless and for a brief moment it was quite in the stadium. If you come across this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it. ¡°LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, WHAT A SURPRISE DAMAI HAS SHOWN US, 2 RANKS LOWER THAN HIS OPPONENT AND HE STILL WON.¡± And with that the crowd exploded at the unexpected result, Damai walked out of the arena happy with his victory. He decided to watch the next fight to find out about his next opponent. Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Among the large crowd, in a V.I.P section sat a silent supporter of Damai and she had tears of joy streaming down her cheek, she could sense the blessing on her sons hand as well as she could see the tail he used to obtain victory. She decided that she would visit him at the end of the tournament. Meanwhile her companions were looking at the high priestess and could see her tears but they also could see one of the biggest and brightest smiles she had ever shown. They were all extremely curious to find out what had made her this happy but decided that it would be rude so they patiently waited until she was ready to tell them. Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx The second fight had been funny to watch, Gladice was going on about experimenting her concoctions on Jackie Chun while he was making strange hand movements with a creepy laugh. Jackie was winning throughout most of the fight, easily dodging her potions and jumping around, Damai could tell that Jackie was toying with Gladice but that changed when she threw an acid bomb at Jackie, he had delicately caught it and spun matching the bottles speed, he then threw it back, causing her own clothes to dissolve leaving Gladice in only her underwear, the almost naked women completely distracted Jackie, he lost all focus and charged the women from the front while laughing crazily, Damai noticed most women in the arena release killing intent, but Gladice was able to retaliate by grabbing one of her many concoctions that fell to the floor when her clothes dissolved, she threw a small brown bag that hit Jackie squarely in the face, the bag burst releasing yellow powder. Jackie had no defence against it and he took the paralysis bomb in the face, Gladice then lined up all of the potions she had left next to Jackie¡¯s frozen body, she spent time deciding which potion would deliver the most pain, she then poured potion after potion onto Jackie making him pass out in extreme agony¡¡¡eventually. The third fight had Kaya confused, she had won but she believed it to be too easy, she had won with only half an effort, she had at first been troubled by the spells been shot at her but she used her own Mana on her sword to deflect them, she then ran over to Claire who seemed to attack in desperation with her magic staff, Kaya cut it in half then punched Claire in the face. Apparently this knocked Claire out but Kaya didn¡¯t buy it, she had travelled with the women before and knew that she was much stronger than this but she couldn¡¯t think of a reason for the woman to throw the match but she was still furious that the woman had thrown the match. It was found out in the fourth match that Anonymous had gotten through the prelims through sheer dumb luck and the reason he was shaking was because he was terrified. The fight between him and Brilik was remarkably short as it only took one hit to send anonymous flying. The announcer told everyone that they had a break until tomorrow morning, so Damai and Kaya went to see Ben and Freya. They found the two of them at the meeting place they had decided upon beforehand, they were in a small caf¨¦ in the centre of town close enough to all of their respective guilds. Ben seemed depressed when the two walked in, they asked him what happened ¡°no nothing happened, I¡¯m just a little upset that I¡¯m the only one who didn¡¯t pass the prelims, I was close but I was in the same block as Claire, she got me angry and I casted spells wildly, ultimately I lost in a bad way, although I felt really satisfied when I saw you punch her in the face¡± Kaya chose to not tell Ben that Claire had probably thrown the match. The four of them spent the rest of the day talking and showing Damai more of the city, Damai and Kaya told the other 2 about Monya and they were shocked to say the least, Freya was the angriest out of the 2 and told both Damai and Kaya to make Brilik suffer. After everyone had calmed down they started to think up strategies for their upcoming fights, for Damai they decided he needed to use speed to dodge the potions and attack, a hit and run tactic he was to use but he decided he would not take off his rings unless he was really pushed. For Kaya her plan was to use full force, they knew that Brilik was a fighter type and charges in however he was not good at defending, so Kaya was to attack as much as she could to prevent Brilik from attacking. The group believed that this would, not knowing that Brilik held back whenever he was with them. Damai and Kaya went to bed earlier than the other 2 and they mentally prepared themselves for the next day ¡.they couldn''t have known the events of the fights to come.
