《Wing's to Tomorrow》 Chapter 1: A new beginning Today is my final day of school, I have just completed my last exam for my high school life. English, not one of my best subjects although I still expect to get at least 70% thereby completing my final grade at high school. My father suggested that I help him with the company in which he is a co-owner. Genesis Interactive, a company which is soon to release a fully immersive virtual reality fantasy role playing game. For the past 8 months I have been beta testing the game which has been running at a speed of 3 hours to every 1 hour in real life. I have clocked 1320 hours playing the game, that''s a whopping 3960 hours in game. As I left my exam I heard students in the hallway talking about Wing'' to Tomorrow the game to be released by Genesis Interactive. "Hey, Alicia!" An attractive girl called out to me. The girl was about 5 foot 5 inches tall with piercing blue eyes, wavy blond hair which reached to her shoulder blades and an element curvy body. "Vanessa" I cheerfully called back. Vanessa has been my best friend since kindergarten. Other than my father, she is the only other person in the world who I confide in. "It''s finally out tomorrow! Wing''s to Tomorrow. I''ll finally be able to see what you have been talking about". Shocked, I replied "really? I thought it wasn''t due for another couple weeks". "How can the owners daughter not know that the release date got pushed forward because the maintenance completed early" said a frowning Vanessa. "I have been too busy playing the beta to check my emails lately, and my dad has been working late so I haven''t gotten to talk to him properly in almost a month" I solemnly replied. "Oh well never mind that, I have been so excited listening to your stories and awaiting the game that it hadn''t clicked until now. I''m a pacifist! How am I going to fight monsters?" Vanessa blurted out. "It''s quite a complicated game, you don''t actually have to fight monsters, you could be a merchant or storekeeper, or even take up a trade" I calmly replied. "Yeah but I wanted to play with you" Vanessa said whilst pouting. "Well then I guess you could take up a support class such as a healer or troubadour" I answered. "Hmm, a healer might not be so bad" said a somber Vanessa. "In that case why don''t we meet at the Holy City of Heaton once your probation is over?" I said. In Wing¡¯s to Tomorrow, you are restricted to your starting area until either you join a guild, get a class, receive a quest, attach to a caravan leaving the city, or spend 30 days within your starting city. This is commonly called the probation period. " it''s a capital of magic and a capital dedicated to the goddess of magic Hecate" I stated. "Sounds like a great idea, I''ll meet you there as soon as I''m able. What''s the closest starting city?" Asked Vanessa with a radiant smile on her face. "Probably the human capital of Stormbridge" I hesitantly answered. "Well I have to go home now then and diagnose my VR pod to make sure it''s ready for midnight, see you soon" Vanessa cheerfully said giving me a hug and running off. "Cya later" I whispered back belatedly causing me to blush with embarassment. The VR pods were sent out to the general public starting a month ago. Until the official release date they would be inactive and unusable. In order to active them they received a highly encrypted key which would unlock their features and allow a simultaneous worldwide release without a rush to the stores and long midnight queues. It is the standard release for hardware nowadays to help prevent shortages on release day. Once I arrived home I decided that since I haven''t viewed my emails lately I would check them before preparing dinner. In my bedroom on the left side there was a queen sized bed with a purple bedspread, the walls were an ice pink, and a computer with a desk was sitting in the corner of the room. On the right side of my room had 3 bookshelves full with books and an egg shape machine. This machine is the VR pod I use to play Wings to Tomorrow. Logging into my emails I saw 247 unread email. To put it simply I was shocked. After looking at the emails most of them were junk emails and I thus deleted them. Amongst the emails, there was one which caught my interest. It was an email from Genesis Interactive.
Subject: Conclusion of the beta Hello Alicia, As of the 18th November Wings to Tomorrow''s servers will be brought offline. During this time we will be maintaining the servers installing our final updates and wiping sections of the beta characters. As such, your character will also be reset although some date will be kept. All beta characters will be resets to lvl 1 lose all their fame, their class, items, gold, and titles. The good news is any other stats and skills along with their proficiency which are not class specific will remain. Once the servers go back online you will be able to adjust your appearance one final time and choose a new starting town. The probation period will be active for you once more after which you can play however you wish. May you be able to find the freedom to create your own adventure. Genesis Interactive.
Sighing heavily I closed the email. All the work to make my lvl 270 magician and I lose most of it. Looking at the time I realise that it''s just past 5:40pm and it is time for me to start cooking dinner for myself and my dad. Heading into the kitchen I see that nobody got anything out to defrost. Due to this I go to the refrigerator and pull out some carrots, capsicum, onion, cauliflower, and snow peas. I place some olive oil into a pan and add onions. After the onions start browning and the aroma fills the air, I add the rest of the vegetables some firm tofu and some udon noodles to the pan. Letting the vegetables heat up I toss them to mix them up and add some pre-made satay sauce to the pan. After mixing the vegetables some more a place a lid over the pan and reduce the heat to low to allow that ingredients to absorb the sauce. After 5 minutes I remove the food from the heat and place the food into two separate bowls. Just as I finish I hear the door open. I run to the door and see that a man about 6 foot tall with short greying hair, wearing a suit is standing there with a smile on his face. "Hello Alicia" the man says. "Dad!" I screech before quickly hugging him, "what are you doing here, I thought you would be busy with the launch". "Can''t a man see his daughter once in a while" he replied. "Of course you can" I giggled. "I have to go back to work in a couple hours and won''t be home much until things settle down with the launch so I wanted to see you one last time" my father sighed. Ensure your favorite authors get the support they deserve. Read this novel on Royal Road. "Of course" I pouted "Well you''re just in time for dinner". "What is it?" My father replied. "Satay vegetables" I replied. "Good I''m starving". We went to sit down and eat at the table and talked until 9:00pm where my dad had to leave. Taking this time I decided to clean up and take a bath. Getting out it was 10:20pm. I decided to read a book until 11:55pm prepared to enter my pod. I opened the lid of the pod and inside was a dense film of a gel like substance designed to mould to the shape of my body when laying in the pod. On top of the dense gel, there was a second layer of gel. The second layer was thinner, more like the consistency of water. When I enter the pod, the second layer of gel will completely submerge my body. It is possible to breathe through this second layer of gel so it is completely safe. The role of the second layer is to cling to a user¡¯s body and receive electrical impulses from the brain and receive life sign reports. The second purpose of the gel was to send impulses to various parts of the body to simulate the virtual world. If you get attacked in the game, you will get a small impulse at the same place on your body. I undressed and climbed into the pod. I don¡¯t have to undress to get in the pod but, I don¡¯t like the feel of the gel on my clothes, and the virtual simulation seems to work better when the gel can access all areas of my body freely. The gel feels warm to the skin and it relaxes me. I pull the lid of the pod down and ready myself to enter the virtual world. When the time finally ticked over to 12:00am I shouted "System start!" My surroundings went white and I felt like I was falling. When I first tried this I had a horrible feeling of vertigo. Over time my body and mind adapted to this although, it could just be due to updates and advancements in the technology used. After 3 seconds pass my surroundings change. I appear in a round white room with column and walls made of marble. In the centre of the room is a fire approximately 1 metre in diameter and half a metre tall. Surrounding the fire are six low benches in a semicircle, and a step on the other side. Up the step is 11 chairs all of different styles. Sitting by the fire on the step is a beautiful elegant lady with wavy golden blonde hair, blue eyes which held a hint of sadness and despair, and subtle curves clad in white garb. "Welcome back Elyssa" the lady said in a calming tone. "Hestia! I haven''t seen you in ages, how have you been?" I said surprised. Hestia is one of the gods of this world, an A.I. or artificial intelligence which helps govern and look over the world. Hestia¡¯s role is to protect players from within cities and create a safe haven. "Pretty good actually, many young heroes have found their way back to the hearth recently" Hestia said excitedly "But, I''m so busy that we don''t have long together today." Frowning I replied "that''s a shame. So for what reason do I have the pleasure of seeing you?" "Well as you know your body has been reborn and as such we need to confirm your new body and send you back to Arendula." Sighing I said "well, I guess we better get it over with then." In front of me appeared a figure that looked just like me. In the beta because nobody was around I decided not to alter my appearance in any way. As such, the body in front of me was a clone of me with long waist length strawberry blonde hair, piercing blue eyes, voluptuous breasts, curvy hips, and unfortunately a small amount of fat around the waist and thighs due to my time spent isolated at home. The body was approximately 5 foot 4 inches tall thankfully because altering your height tends to make you lose balance. The one difference from the body to the real me was that this body had pointed ears. Yes the body was that of an elf. The complexion was flawless with pearl white skin. I chose an elf during the beta because I loved the idea of living with nature and controlling magic.Who doesn''t love magic? The type of elf I chose was a high elf. In Wing¡¯s to Tomorrow there are various races which one can play however, currently there are only a small number activated. The races include human, elf, dwarf. You can also choose a half breed of any of those races. Elves of the three races alon has sub classes. Elves can choose between wood elf, high elf, and night elf. I chose high elf because of its bonuses to magic. A high elf''s racial traits are an increase of 5% to skill experience, and NPC''s treat them as noble born. The downside is a high elf has the weakest physical constitution causing them to only earn 4 points of stamina for every 1 point in vitality instead of the regular 5. This means the tire out easier. Not a problem at all for a magic class. Because I would show this body to those around me I decided to make some minor modifications. I modified the hair colour to a light purple and had it tied up in a ponytail. From experience the hair gets in the way, I can''t count the number of times I''ve burnt my hair with a poorly targeted fireball. Thankfully the system automatically regrows hair after a short duration. "Ok I''m done" I said to a patient Hestia. "Ok then where would you like to begin your new life?" Hestia replied. Since the game is opening as if the world is unexplored, there is currently only three choices as starting locations. Stormbridge is the human capital, and the largest of the three choices. It is a large medieval style village with a grand castle in the centre and surrounded by farmland rivers, and a forest. Kolduar is and underground citadel which houses the dwarves. The citadel prioritises crafts and mining but, shuns elves due to their love of nature, which is problematic for a race which lives from mining. Fynelone is a forest, the home of the elves. The elves live with nature and thus, make their houses out of the hollows of trees using magic to grow and shape the trees. Fynelone rejects metals as a material and relies on the bounties of nature. "I guess I''ll start in the human capital of Stormbridge since I promised a friend I would meet them nearby" I answered. "Would you like to replay the tutorial?" Hestia queried. "No there''s no point, I know how to move and I know the backstory of this world" I answered. The history of the world called Arendula follows stories similar to the Greek creation mythology, and with the Gods and Titans existing it''s not a stretch to say that most of the mythology exists in Arendula. "Ok may you have an enjoyable adventure" Hestia said smiling. My vision went white and once again I felt that sickening falling feeling.

Chapter 2: new life I opened my eyes and looked at my surroundings. The area nearby was a medieval setting with cobblestone pavement and stone buildings. The buildings had thatched roofs made from straw and tar. most buildings were only a single story except for the inn she could see which was two stories. looking down the path to the south was a gate and a tall crenellated wall made from stone. To the north a large fire could be seen near a river with a bridge leading to the castle. From experience I knew that it is wise to pay homage to the god¡¯s upon entering a town, unless you really wanted to be punished. The gods can be spiteful for neglecting them. The most important thing to do when entering a city or town to pray to Hestia at the cities hearth in order to be accepted as a friend. Therefore, I went to the hearth and prayed ¡°Hestia please allow me to stay in the town of stormbridge.¡± a simple prayer was all that was needed as long as you tried the god¡¯s were happy. *triiing* A blue box appeared in front of my eyes
You have received the protection of Hestia

Having finished praying I decided to sit down near the hearth and view the changes in my character since the beta. ¡°Display status window¡± I shouted loudly. *triiing*

Some skills could be useful such as cooking, identification, bandaging and my language comprehension. The magic is all useless without a magic based class, they will have a huge penalty so I either need to become a mage or forget about the spells. Still using fireball, or even ice bolt as a distraction could be useful depending on the situation. Bandaging was a skill I picked up in the beta due to the lack of players. As a solo mage I needed to be able to heal myself and stop any bleeding whenever I got hit. Without the bandaging skill, any deep cut could cause your health to drop rapidly causing death. My throat was dry. I hope theres still the starting items in my inventory. In Wing¡¯s of Tomorrow, all basic needs in real life are needed within this world. If you fail to satisfy your needs for food and water you can die or receive status penalties. Water can be collected from any water source including fountains in cities. ¡°Display inventory window.¡± within my inventory was the standard 3 bread, and an empty canteen but, what was surprising was the two items that shouldn¡¯t be there. There was an unknown black leather bound tome and a letter. Taking out the letter I saw that it was written by hand. The letter read:
Hello Adventurer, Thank you for participating in the beta test. As a special reward for playing the beta more than anyone else, we have decided to reward you. Inside your inventory is a Tome. This tome is a rare S class item which once read allows a player to obtain two separate classes. Regards, Genesis Interactive
Wide eyed I immediately pulled out the tome and tried to identify it. ¡°Identify¡±

Tome of Dual Class
The reader of this tome is able to specialise in two separate fields. after obtaining your first class, a second class slot will appear in your status allowing you to obtain another Tome Rank S
Immediately standing up with a huge grin on my face I squealed ¡°woo hoo.¡± the people nearby started staring at me which is really embarrassing, so I darted down another road bright red from embarrassment. I kept running until I saw a fountain. Items in Wing¡¯s to tomorrow come in graded ranks. The lowest rank is Rank F, which would cover any item that is extremely common such as a fox pelt. The grades followed through to A and finally S which was the rarest with exception of uniquely crafted items. This means that with rank S an item would be very difficult to find, it may be unique or require some extremely difficult quest to be awarded the item. This story originates from a different website. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there. At the fountain I took out my canteen and filled it up then, I sat down to read the tome. *triiing*
You have unlocked Dual Class
As the message popped up the tome disappeared. acquiring the dual class made I immediately made the decision that since this is a new life, I should create a different life to that I had in the beta. I had decided to play as a character other than a mage as I had done in the beta. In order to be able to survive in Arendula I needed to make sure I had money for food and equipment. Thinking of this I decided to head to the information guild. Unsure of where the information guild is I looked around for a guard as one does when they are lost. The guard nearby told me that the information guild is down the street to the left and it is the building with the magnifying glass image on its sign. I followed the guards instructions and found the guild. The guild was noisy with many people walking in and out. I could not tell if they were players or NPCs, Non player characters. The building looked like a 3 story stone and thatch building with wooden tables and chairs out front. The wooden sign of a magnifying glass stating that it was the information guild was attached out front to the awning by chains and was swinging freely. As I entered the building, I was greeted by a middle aged woman wearing glasses who gave off the air of a librarian. ¡°Welcome to the information guild, how may I help you?¡± ¡°Hello I am looking for a temporary job¡± I shyly replied. ¡°Over there on the boards, take one. the details are on the paper.¡± The woman replied coldly pointing to an area crowded by people. I headed over to the crowd and after a couple minutes made my way to the front. In front of the crowd were three boards with postings for jobs pinned up. The first board had requests for short term temporary jobs, the second board had full and part time jobs, and the third board contained contacts such as building houses. Seeing this I went to the first board for temporary jobs. The board was covered with jobs categorized roughly by the amount of time required for the job. I went to the section which contained 3-4 hour jobs and selected one. The job stated that I should report to the orphanage for babysitting. *triiing* This familiar blue box appeared

The orphanage is searching for help babysitting due to being short staffed. Report to the Orphanage to commence. Reward: 15 copper/hour four hours total.
This is your first job. To view jobs please open your jobs menu by saying display jobs.
After closing the windows I went back to the receptionist and asked for directions to the orphanage. ¡°huh?¡± she scoffed. ¡°Right next to the temple of Apollo down the street like in every other city¡± Bright red like a ripe tomato I stormed out and headed towards the orphanage. Right next to the temple as stated was a large single story thatch building with kids running around out front. walking in the city I saw a young woman and showed her the job request flyer. ¡°Oh, so you¡¯re here about the babysitting request? i¡¯m glad, we have been really short staffed today because some of our carers are sick. Have you had any experience looking after children before?¡± asked the woman with a gentle caring voice. ¡°No never, this is my first job.¡± I replied shyly. ¡°Not to worry¡± the woman said with a smile. ¡°we say babysitting but, really you just need to play with them to keep them out of trouble. I¡¯m Elena by the way.¡± ¡°Elyssa¡± I replied ¡°Well Elyssa, if you have any trouble come to see me.¡± ¡°Thank you Elena.¡± I replied. due to the beta I found out that if you are polite and friendly to NPCs, they can offer you special quests or jobs as well as deals from merchants or gifts. Although i¡¯m generally shy around players, I don¡¯t have that problem with NPCs. I spend the next 4 hours at the orphanage playing with the children. We played games like hide and seek, tag, and threw around a ball. At one point I headed inside and we did some painting. Once the 4 hours were complete, Elena came up to me and said ¡°thank you for helping Elyssa, The children loved you. Please feel free to come back and help out in future.¡± ¡°I may just do that¡± I replied with a smile on my face. It turns out that even a shut in like me really enjoyed spending time with the children too. ¡°Here is your pay, I gave a little extra since you did such a good job¡± smiled Elena handing over a bag of copper coins. *triiing*

Pleased with having enough money to eat for a while I headed to the training grounds so that I could learn to use a sword.

please mention any mistakes I have made, especially with formatting and grammar/spelling errors. all suggestions are welcome Chapter 3: The Crypt Wandering around town I finally made it to the training grounds. The sounds of metal and wood clashing could be heard, and many people were there hitting wooden poles with straw attached around them or sparring with one another. Entering a man likely in his 50¡¯s saw me, smiled and walked up to me. ¡°Hi to what do I owe the pleasure.¡± ¡°I would like to learn how to use a sword¡± I replied. frowning the man said ¡°I didn¡¯t think elves used swords, especially not high elves.¡± ¡°This one does¡± I replied laughing the man said ¡°very well, head over to that rack, grab a sword and start hitting a pole. we will see how good you are¡± heading over i looked at the arrangement of swords, there were large two handed swords, short swords, great swords and many I had never even seen or heard of. I took a basic one handed sword that was slightly longer than average and headed to a pole to start hitting it. Pok pok pok the sound of me striking the wooden pole. I was finding it hard to swing the sword however I quickly found that I had no problem with thrusting the sword straight at the pole. Realising this, I thought back to school phys ed, and remembered some fencing clases I had. In fencing they thaught us three styles. Sabre, where you can strike in any way you wish, slashes or stabs as long as it attached above the waist. I was never really any good at sabre, probably for the same reason that I have troubles slashing with the sword right now. Epee was the second style we were taught, it allows for stabbing at any part of the body, although slashes aren¡¯t allowed. This style I was better at but, even then I was only average. A style purely focused on countering. Foil was the final style we were taught, and a style I excelled in. It allowed for thrusts in the top half of the body, and relied primarily on striking within the gaps of one¡¯s defence. Realising that foil is where my strengths were, I adapted my style to closely resemble foil. I implemented some of the footwork one would use in fencing and noticed that my accuracy and speed with the blade increased. The blade started feeling more comfortable and then a message appeared. *triing*

Instantly my strikes made a cleaner sound when hitting the wood. I began feeling hungry and therefore ate one of my loaves of bread thus increasing my stamina and making me feel slightly refreshed. the bread itself tasted slightly stale but, when hungry anything can taste good so I shrugged it off and resumed hitting the pole. After 4 hours of striking the pole several messages popped up in front of my with the usual annoying chime *triing*

having earnt extra stats and received lvl 2 in fencing I decided that I should change it up. where fencing moves forwards and backwards in a straight line, monsters can move in all directions. taking this into account, I decided to move around and try to develop a new way of fighting. I needed to be able to dodge attacks and strike in any gaps that an enemy exposes whilst targeting the weak points. After 2 hours I had worked out that I could strike from any angle as long as I kept my balance. however, when I moved left r right, my balance faltered and my strikes dealt less damage. if I lunge or extend whilst moving forward, my strikes will do more damage. therefore as I strike I needed to add at least a half step into my movements. After another hour passed, I heard someone clapping and stopped to turn and look at them. In front of me stood a tall woman, approximately 5¡¯10¡± with long blond hair tied up in a bun and wearing a long green dress with gold embroidery. ¡°Nice footwork there, I haven¡¯t seen anyone move like that here before. Did you come up with that on your own?¡± asked the woman. ¡°Some of it¡± I replied. ¡°Its traditional foil with a few modifications to allow for me to dodge and attack my enemies for different angles.¡± ¡°Interesting. My name is Cassandra by the way, do you have some time?¡± The woman queried. ¡°Hello Cassandra, my name is Elyssa. I was just about finished so I do have a few minutes to spare¡± I replied. I was certain that Cassandra is an NPC due to her clothing. Since the servers just opened, it is highly unlikely that anyone would be able to earn such expensive clothing at this point. ¡°Marvelous, I have a request if you wouldn¡¯t mind. I will reward you with a rapier for your work of course, maybe then you will be able to train on actual monsters¡± replied a grinning Cassandra. ¡°It would be a pleasure Cassandra.¡± I answered ¡°and what may this request be?¡± ¡°there is a book inside a crypt at the cemetery. I require the book however to access it one would need impressive footwork. You look like you may be able to get it for me.¡± stated Cassandra. *triiing*
Quest recieved: find the book for Cassandra
Cassandra has requested you to go the cemetery to collect a book from a crypt. after collecting the book you must return it to Cassandra to receive your reward Quest difficulty: unknown Requirements: Impress Cassandra with your footwork Rewards: Rapier Unknown Failure: give up
do you accept?
¡°I accept¡± I said ¡°Good, here take this letter, it will grant you access to the crypt and it has a map on the map to show you where it is. I hope to see you with it soon¡± Cassandra smiled turned and walked away. I followed the directions on the map to the cemetery. the air was damp and the trees were dead, just like out of a horror movie. Maybe it wasn¡¯t such a good idea to go at night. The cemetery had many graves at the front particularly the standard tombstone. as you walked deeper into the cemetery, you could see fancier graves most likely belonging to nobels. I headed to the back where the crypt was marked on the map. as I got closer to the crypt, a guard stopped me. The guard said ¡°who goes there¡± in a grump tone. ¡°I came here as a request from Cassandra to visit one of the crypts, I have a letter.¡± I replied nervously hoping that I wasn¡¯t doing something illegal. The guard smiled and read the letter. something seemed fishy about this quest, everyone seemed to know something that I didn¡¯t. shrugging it off I waited for the guard to reply. ¡°everything seems in order, i¡¯ll take you to the crypt.¡± the guard said I followed the guard to the crypt. once I arrived, the guard said ¡°good luck, you will need it.¡± at this point I was really panicking. entering the crypt I heard an eerie tune which made me feel unwelcome. The tune was raspy and repetitive.Shivering I forced myself to continue. Once I reached the bottom of the staircase after a 5 minute decent I entered a single room with no doors. At the rear of the room was a pedestal with what looked like a silver book with gold leaf pages. I smiled and thought this is too easy. as I approached the book, the book glowed and from the ceiling, walls and floor came a huge number of various traps. there were swinging pendulum blades, arrows shooting at intervals and spikes popping up out of the ground. I froze immediately. If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, it''s taken without the author''s consent. Report it. ¡°Why can¡¯t anything ever be easy¡± I muttered. I walked around the room searching for a mechanism to deactivate the traps. after 1 hour of searching I realised that there was none, and the reason for the quest requiring someone with good footwork was because I was going to need to dodge the traps and get the book. building up my courage, I decided it was time to try. I ran dodging the first curtain of arrows, sliding around a set of spikes that hampered my way and got sent flying through the air by a swinging bladed pendulum, and sent into the nearby wall.

realising that I had 163 seconds till I would bleed out. immediately I turned and ran up the stairs. I got to the top of the stairs in an amazing 1 and a half minutes. it¡¯s amazing how fast you can move when your life is on the line. I immediately ran out of the crypt and through the cemetery to the temple next door. the priest inside saw me bleeding and immediately casted a healing spell on me. ¡°Cure!¡± ¡°what happened? you nearly died¡± scolded the priest after healing me ¡°I got hit by a trap in one of the crypts in the cemetery¡±. I answered ¡°Oh Cassandra¡¯s work again¡± replied the priest with a frown ¡°if you are going to attempt the crypt again, you should take some bandages, not that I think its possible to complete that crypt¡± I asked the priest for directions to the nearest apothecary. The priest drew on the map I had of the crypt showing where the apothecary was. Turns out it was right next door to the information guild. After reaching the apothecary I opened the door and stepped inside. Immediately the smells of putrid salves and decay was smelt. It seems that recently someone had died in the apothecary. I struggled to compose myself trying hard not to throw up and walked to the counter. ¡°Welcome what can I do for you¡± said the physician in a melancholic voice. ¡°I would like to buy some bandages¡± I replied ¡°Ok that 3 copper per metre¡± answered the physician Since I only had 75 coppers and needed to buy food I opted to get 17 metres at 51 coppers leaving me with 24 coppers. ¡°17 metres of bandages please¡± ¡°Here you go¡± the physician handed over the bandages and took the coppers. Leaving the apothecary I headed back to the crypt stopping by a bakery to buy 12 loaves of bread with the remaining 24 copper. After I bought the bread, I went back to the crypt and prepared to tackle the traps again. I spent what seemed like weeks inside the crypt trying to break through the traps. Every time I got hit I had to stop the bleeding with my bandaging skill. after being hit the third time. a message popped up. *triing*

after some time being creeped out with the melody I realised that the melody has a rhythm which matched the movement of the blades and traps. moving the the rhythm of the melody I dodge the first few traps successfully and get closer to the pedestal but, as it looked like I was going to reach it I got hit and sent flying back to the start by a springboard. realising that I was onto something, I kept trying to dodge the traps. after 3 days had passed in game, I finally realised that my problem was that I wasn¡¯t moving with the flow. in order to dodge the traps it wasn¡¯t enough to just move forward with the rhythm, at times it was important to retreat. following the flow and rhythm, i skillfully manouvered around the area finally reaching the pedestal. Once I touched the book, the traps disappeared and I received the book.

happy with my increased endurance I went to ask the instructor for Cassandra. ¡°Do you mean Lady Cassandra Silverwind?¡± said the guard surprised clearly recognising me. ¡°she should be at her work. from here turn right, take the third left, and its the second building on the left.¡± ¡°Lady!? she is someone important?¡±I stuttered out. ¡°Yes, you will find out once you meet her¡± the guard replied mischievously. ¡°thankyou sir, I will be going right away¡± I answered. following the directions of the guard I came to a top in front of a two storey building. from the building music was playing and shouting could be heard. Looking at the sign my mouth dropped. It was the Dancer¡¯s guild.
<< Previous ChapterNext Chapter>>

Please review the fan fiction so I can know where to improve. It will also help motivate me to spend more time writing. Chapter 4: First Class I stared at the Dancer¡¯s guild confused. Why would someone who works at the dancer¡¯s guild be able to give me a rapier? Shrugging it off I enter the building. The building is full of the sounds of music and instructors calling out directions. Many people, mostly female are dancing in various styles. There are people doing various styles of ballroom dancing in pairs, people doing solo dances like belly dancing, and groups dancing together. The atmosphere of the room is cheerful, everyone is smiling and chatting happily whilst they prance around the room. Looking around the room I can¡¯t see Cassandra anywhere so I head to the front counter. A young girl about 16 years of age with medium length brown hair and a radiant smile welcomes me. ¡°Welcome to the Dancer¡¯s guild, is there anything I can help you with?¡± The girl was friendly and welcoming. A breath of fresh air after all the other shop keepers I have previously talked to. ¡°Yes, I¡¯m looking for Cassandra. I have a book for her.¡± Shocked the girl replies ¡°you mean someone completed the trial? Cassandra will be thrilled. Come with me I will take you to her.¡± I follow the girl up the stairs to the second floor. The room is more like a house than part of the guild. The walls are a regal purple and the furnishing are all polished red wood timber. Sitting at a table drinking coffee is Cassandra. ¡°Lady Cassandra, you have a visitor. She brought you a book.¡± stated the girl. ¡°Come over her and sit down.¡± Cassandra ordered. I walk over and sit across from her at the table. The girl comes over and pours me a cup of tea. The herbal aroma wafts around the room calming me down. ¡°So you completed my request to get the book?¡± replied Cassandra I pulled out the book and passed it to her. Overjoyed Cassandra started telling me about the book. The book was nothing special, it was just placed on the pedestal 10 years prior. Cassandra was getting older and could not find anyone to pass her skills and so she devised a test. The person who collected the book would be able to become her apprentice and eventually successor. In order to complete the test, one would need to be able to be balanced, understand the rhythm of the music, and follow its flow in order to bypass the traps. Many people tried to reach the pedestal only to run headlong into a trap. ¡°Congratulations you passed.¡± said a beaming Cassandra. Cassandra walked over to a cupboard and pulled out a rapier. The rapier was thin with a light green glow radiating from it. The blade was slightly longer than a standard 1 handed sword at 1 metre long with a width of approximately 2.5 centimetres tapering to a sharp point. The blade was designed purely for stabbing rather than slashing. The hilt was designed with a series of sweeping rings designed to protect the hand. The overall design was quite ornate, yet designed for offense over defence. Cassandra handed me the blade and said ¡°here is the rapier as promised, please take good care of it.¡± I accept the rapier from Cassandra bowing ¡°I will take good care of the blade.¡±
Cassandra¡¯s Rapier
Cassandra¡¯s first rapier, she used this during her training as a young girl. This blade radiates a green glow which causes enemies to be dazzled and focus on you. Attack: 12 Requirements: 25 strength
Weapons in Wing¡¯s to Tomorrow all have a fixed attack stat. Depending on how and where you strike an enemy affects the damage you deal. if you attack with more speed or hit a weak point, damage will be increased. On the reverse if you attack slowly with poor technique on a solid carapace, the damage can be negligible. Personal ability is favoured more than actual stats. ¡°The second part of the reward is to become my apprentice.¡± said Cassandra with a smile *triiing*

You have braved the trial set by Cassandra and completed it. Completing the quest has impressed Cassandra and she has offered you become her apprentice. Reward: Cassandra¡¯s Rapier Cassandra¡¯s Apprentice
You have unlocked secret class: Blade dancer
A blade dancer allows you to distract enemies with your dances whilst wielding a blade. A master blade dancer will be able to feel the flow of enemy attacks and avoid them to reach the enemies weak spots. Do you accept the class blade dancer?
I was offered the secret class blade dancer. In Wing¡¯s to tomorrow, there are many types of classes. These classes break down into 4 groups, common such as mage, warrior, farmer, and merchant. Secret, which is a specialised type of class which requires finding an NPC to apprentice you. Hidden, which are difficult classes to find, usually hidden in a dungeon. Unique, there is only one of each of these unique classes in the game at any one time. Blade dancer being a secret class means it is a more specialised class of dancer which allows the use of a weapon. Deciding that it will allow the use of my rapier in a unique style I decide to try out the class. ¡°I accept.¡± *triing

Due to the dancing, my dance mastery had reached level 3 and Cassandra summoned me for my next step of training. The next step of training was to take the dances I had learnt and incorporate my blade. ¡°All dances can be done with a weapon as long as you are careful not to slice yourself. This is why we use a rapier designed for piercing.¡± Cassandra lectured. I proceeded to try dancing with the blade incorporating thrusts. ¡°You are concentrating too hard, feel the flow and create a rhythm with your dance.¡± Cassandra ordered me to spend the day dancing with my rapier. Towards the end of the day I started getting more proficient although, my habit of concentrating from my time as a mage kept tripping me up. Literally, I tripped up more times than I can count. Cassandra came up to me and said ¡°good work, from now on we will train to raise your resilience. The biggest enemy of a dancer is movement restrictive magic. You will make sure you are under one of these effects whilst you train.¡± Cassandra gave me weird herbs every time a status effect wore off. Sometimes I was poisoned, others paralysed, at one point I was so weakened I could barely stand yet, Cassandra made me dance through all of it. My resilience stat grew at an alarmingly fast rate and towards the end of the week, most of the effects from the herbs I was given barely made a difference. My time spent dancing caused my attractiveness and charm to grow quickly, my skills and various dances grew to level 3 each and dance mastery to level 5. ¡°Ok you have learnt the basics, time for a little test.¡± Cassandra said. ¡°But first, I have a present for you.¡± Cassandra handed me some purple clothing. The clothing had gold embroidery and was designed to show of my curves. They were attention grabbing designed to improve my attractiveness and charm therefore increasing the effects of my dances.
Spidersilk Clothing of Attractiveness
Defence: 25 Durability: 30/30 Clothes woven from spider silk designed to increase one''s attractiveness These clothes have been enchanted to increase defence even though it leaves much exposed. Attractiveness +5 Charm +5
The clothes were gorgeous, I equipped them immediately and went to look in the mirror. I froze, the clothes covered a lot less than I realised, most of my stomach was exposed and my legs we visible. From the front it looked like I was wearing a miniskirt, from the back it was longer reaching the back of my knees. It was extremely embarrassing to think that I had to dance in front of monsters wearing almost nothing. ¡°It looks good on you¡± Cassandra snickered. ¡°Why don¡¯t I believe you?¡± ¡°It doesn¡¯t matter, you will get used to it in time. Let¡¯s head to the adventurer guild.¡±

Please comment or give reviews, currently I have no idea where to improve or, if the story is actually any good, especially since my first rating was for half a star. I will try to get the next chapter out later tonight. Encouragement will help speed up the release. In the next chapter, we finally get to see Elyssa fight. Chapter 5: The Silver We finally arrive at the adventurer¡¯s guild. The guild is noisy with people requesting help with quests or looking for people to form a group or party. The building has a similar layout to the information guild with a staircase in the left corner manned by a guard, many tables and chairs were positioned both in and outside the first floor, there was a large board placed to the right side of the room with flyers pinned to it, and a receptionist desk at the rear of the room manned by a tall brown skinned bald man with a scar over his eye. The people in the building all wore armour or mages robes and carried weapons or staves. Cassandra led me to the reception and said ¡°We would like to sign up Elyssa here to the adventurer¡¯s guild.¡± The man at the counter nodded and said ¡°sure just one moment.¡±
New job: Adventurer
Rank: Red Reputation: F
¡°You will begin as a red rank adventurer with no reputation thus a rank of F. as you grow stronger your rank will rise. Ranks follows closely to your level. Reputation is affected by how successful you are at completing quests. The higher your reputation, the more floors of the building you can access, and with it more quests.¡± explained the man. ¡°If you want to accept a quest, grab a flyer from the quest board and bring it to me, if your rank and reputation are sufficient, you will be able to undertake the quest.¡± In the adventurers guild ranks and reputation are as follows:
RankReputation
BlackS
GoldA
SilverB
BronzeC
BlueD
GreenE
RedF
As you can see, I am the lowest of the low and can only select from a small number of quests. After thanking the man at the counter I went to the board with Cassandra. The board contained quests of reputation F. most of the quests were to collect pelts or other common monster parts and deliver them. A few of the quests were slayer quests which involve killing monsters in an area or killing a certain number of monster to reduce the population or threat to a city. Cassandra plucked a flyer from the board and handed it to me. ¡°This is your test¡± she told me. ¡°Return to me once you have completed it, here are some supplies to help you.¡± Cassandra handed me over some bandages, bread and medical herbs. I took the flyer and handed it over the the man at the reception. ¡°Interesting, a slayer quest for your first attempt. Make sure you are well supplied. Quest approved¡± The man said *triing*
Job accepted: Slay the silver wolf
There is a rare silver wolf rampaging around the wood outside Stormbridge. Find it and slay it so that no more people die from its rampage Quest requirements: Rank Red, Reputation Blue Reward: 2 silver
Quests received from the adventurer¡¯s guild are filed under the job screen and have no difficulty level because the situation can change from outside interference easily. Cassandra bids me farewell and I leave the city for the first time. Outside the city is a wide open expanse of farmland followed by a 300 metre gap of cleared grassland and finally the woods. Roaming around in the farms are various livestock and the occasional pest such as a mouse. I head the open grassland and I see a lot of low level adventurers fighting with the critters nearby. There are squirrels, mice, rabbits and foxes roaming the area. The adventurers all look like they are struggling to kill even a squirrel and those fighting foxes are mostly running away screaming. Seeing the sight it reminds me of when I first started out as a mage. The small critters were hard to hit, and if you threatened them they tended to fight back. It¡¯s amazing how painful a squirrel bite can be. The next level up from these small critters are the foxes. The foxes can bite and cause huge damage in bleeding, and their health is much higher than the small critters. The foxes are designed to teach beginners to dodge attacks which is the bane for mages. It encourages people to form parties in order to overcome the individual class weaknesses. I decide that before I go to the forest to fight the wolves, I should first make sure I can fight since my fighting style has changed since the beta. It¡¯s a these times I wonder what I was thinking switching from a mage to a melee class. Oh that¡¯s right, I didn¡¯t like having to rely on others to protect me. NPC¡¯s are ok but, other people are scary. I walk up to a squirrel and draw my sword. I quickly lunge at the squirrel and piece it through the head with the tip of my sword between its ears.
Fatal hit
A fatal hit is caused when you create an instant killing strike. An example is severing the head or piercing the heart dependant on the creature. Getting a fatal hit on a living creature is much easier than on an undead. Other than critical hits, it¡¯s possible to get lucky and get a critical hit. Critical hits increase your damage dealt by 1.5 times. I try my luck on the foxes. I walk up to a fox, and ready myself to attack. The fox lunges at me, I dodge swiftly to the side but, the fox turns and bites me on the leg. I see red and cry out in pain ¡°awaaaaa.¡± Mad I kick the fox off turn and try to slash at it. The fox dodges and comes at me again. Realising that my strategy of fencing the fox isn¡¯t working I join the rest of the adventurers and run away with shame. The fox continues to chase me down leaving me with no choice but to turn and fight. I decide to use dance of the sylph. Moving in erratic patterns, the fox lunges at me several times missing me. As the fox jumps past me I pierce it with my sword deep into its rib cage. The fox yelps and starts bleeding. It knows it is going to die soon and starts attacking more aggressively. Due to it being more aggressive it leaves itself open to more counters. After three more strikes the fox finally falls down and dies disappearing into grey dust to be separated in the wind.
You have gained experience
Feeling satisfied that I killed a fox, I heal myself with bandages. Due to my bandage skill being so low, I can only stop bleeding however, with the addition of some herbs, I can regenerate health albeit slowly. Finally healed I decide to tackle some more foxes. After a couple of hours fighting I manage to reach level 3, fencing raises by 1 skill level and I manage to comfortably solo groups of up to 4 foxes. Every level provides 6 stat points. I decide to add my stat points in a 3, 1, 2 split to agility, strength, and vitality. Agility will allow me to move faster, strength will allow me to use heavier blades, and vitality with increase my health and stamina making me more durable and able to fight longer. Satisfied with my progress I decide it¡¯s time to tackle some wolves. Wolves are approximately level ten monsters which are more aggressive and faster than foxes. Wolves tend to hunt in packs and thus you need to be careful when fighting them. When I enter the forest I quickly stumble across my first wolf. It is on its own and it doesn¡¯t see me. I sneak up on the wolf, activate dance of the warrior to increase my attack damage, and strike at the wolf. After fighting with the wolf for 5 minutes I finally land the killing blow piercing it through the head for a fatal hit. I spend 30 more minutes fighting solitary wolves until I feel exhausted and sit down for a rest. I open my inventory and start eating a loaf of bread to restore my stamina so that I can be ready to fight again. As I was almost finished, I heard a howl ¡°awooooo¡± It was close by coming from the thicket a few metres away from me. Out from the bushes came a pack of six wolves snarling and snapping at me. I could see hunger in their eyes as they started to circle me looking for a chance to attack. I prepared myself shaking from the pressure the wolves were letting out. I decided to activate dance of the fairy in order to increase my attack speed. Finally after what seemed like hours but was seconds in reality the wolves started lunging at me. I dodge the first two wolves and stab the third wolf in the leg causing it to fall yelp and roll on the ground. The next wolf uses the chance in my thrust and jumps at me barely missing me. I feel the wind rush past me from the shock of the wolf and I freeze. Two of the wolves that had been circling me until now lunged at me and grabed both of my legs knowing me to the ground and causing bleeding effect. This story originates from a different website. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.
You are bleeding
you will lose 2 health every second
I punish myself in my mind for losing control of my body and stab out at one of the wolves biting down on my left leg scoring a fatal hit and instantly killing the wolf. The wolf on my right leg lets go and backs away. I stand up forcing myself through the pain and begin to perform my dance of the sylph to help avoid attacks. As each wolf comes at me I dodge them and stab them in any opening as it becomes available. I quickly dispatch the wolves thanks to fatal hits at their head. Their hearts were too difficult to hit thanks to their thick pelts and my lack of strength. After the final wolf was slayed, I quickly bandaged my legs to stop the bleeding. ¡°That was close!¡± I exclaim. When the bleeding finally stopped I only had 14 health remaining. Rather than waiting for my health to fully heal I hobbled out of the forest and sat down in a field. After my encounter with the wolf pack I didn¡¯t want the stench of my blood to lure another so soon. I spend the next 3 days fighting against wolves and wolf packs reaching level 8 when finally I run into the silver wolf. The silver wolf had a silver fur coat matted with the blood of its victims. it was surrounded by other wolves numbering as high as 20. Most of the wolves were pups, young pups around level 10, with a few much older females which snarled and snapped at me. The wolves noticed my presence and created a formation. 4 of the older female wolves circled the silver wolf and the remaining 15 circled me. The hairs on the back of my neck stood on end and made a shiver run down my back. The sight of a pack of wolves with an alpha is so oppressing that I wanted to crawl into a ball and give up but, I knew I had a trick up my sleeves for encounters like this. I began my dance of the dragon causing an aura to emanate from out of me into the surrounding area. The wolf¡¯s formation staggered slightly and some of them backed off. The silver howled, the signal to attack. Immediately the woods were in chaos, wolves were lunging at me from all directions. I started dodging and stabbing back. The wolves attacked half-heartedly thanks to my dance giving me the chance to strike back. The first round of battle was so long that I was exhausted by the end of it. After dispatching the final wolf pup, it was time for the females. I screamed a war cry ¡°ahhhhhhh¡± and fought the females using my dance of the sylph. I didn¡¯t want to risk getting hit by the much larger female wolves who were roughly around level 12. Finally after 15 minutes of fighting them it was time for the silver. The silver growled and launched itself at me faster than any wolf had before. I was launched 10 metres through the air and smashed into a tree losing half of my health in an instant. Getting up I noticed I was dizzy. Realising that evasion and fear were ineffective and there being no point in increasing its enmity towards me I activated my dance of the fairy increasing my attack speed. As the silver prepared to charge at me I began to muster myself up for one final attack. The wolf charged lightning fast towards me, and I thrust my rapier with all my might aiming just below the neck on an angle slightly upwards. My sword connected, directly below the head into the neck. the speed of my strike in combination with the force of the wolf charging at me cause incredible damage severing the head of the wolf and launching me backwards into the tree shaving off another quarter of my health. ¡°I did it!¡± I screamed in celebration. I collected the loot dropped by the wolves and picked up the silver wolf head as proof of my kill for the adventurer¡¯s guild. Most of the loot consisted of wolf pelts, claws and teeth. I collected it all to sell back at town at a general store. The silver dropped a silver wolf pelt, an item of D grade quality. I decided to keep this and take it to a tailor to process into clothing. I return to the adventurer¡¯s guild and hand in the head as well as the quest the the bald man. ¡°I can¡¯t believe you did it. That wolf has been terrorising the farmers for months, nobody could track it because it moved so fast.¡± explained the man. ¡°As promised, here is your reward¡± *triiing*

As the final box disappeared, the assassin also disappeared from view. Immediately I help my rapier vertically and did half a pirouette placing my left hand halfway up the flat of the blade to provide extra leverage. My blade was struck by the assassin just above where my hand was in line with my neck. ¡°tch¡± the assassin said before moving into a flurry of inaccurate slashes. I parried the strikes by moving my rapier in position of the 9 basic foil parries depending on the angle of the strike. It seems that the assassin was not used to direct confrontations. The assassin disappeared once more and I felt a dull throbbing pain in the small of my back. The assassin used the skill backstab which teleports behind an opponent for an instant stabbing strike. I immediately started my dance of the dragon, and the assassin froze completely, taking my advantage I moved my weight onto my front foot and extended my arm out performing a fl¨¨che and stabbing him in the throat. The strike was shallow however, it had the desired effect causing a stream of blood to flow from his neck. I saw fear in the assassin¡¯s eyes, it was as if he had never been hurt before. The assassin wildly swung his sword from the right and I parried following up with a riposte into his sword hand causing him to drop the sword. I prepared a follow up attack shifting my weight in preparation for a lunge when he said ¡°I give up!¡± *triing*

You should go ask one of the blacksmiths in town.¡± After I bid farewell to Cassandra and the other dancer¡¯s at the guild, I head to the main street where all the town¡¯s most essential buildings are. I arrive outside the blacksmith to the sounds of metal being hammered. The blacksmith has a tall smokestack which reaches about three stories tall in order to keep the smoke away from the nearby buildings. The roof of the building is shingled, and the walled build from solid stone. As I enter the blacksmith I see an old man in the back standing near a forge hammering a red hot blade that appears to be about 20 centimetres long. After a few more hits, the blacksmith takes the blade in his tongs and quenches it in a bucket of water causing steaming hot water vapour to explode into the air, and a loud bubbling sound of boiling water. He removes the blade and sets it aside when he comes over to me. ¡°I accept¡± Walking outside I decide that I will try attract customers the old fashioned way. I call out into the streets advertising the blacksmith. After 45 minutes of advertising the blacksmith and not getting a single customer, I realise that this method is completely ineffective. The only thing that has happened is a lot of people staring at me as they walk past making me feel self-conscious about my outfit again. Realising that I can attract customers with my appearance, I begin to perform a flashy belly dance. A crowd forms around me watching my dance. When my dance finishes the audience begins a round of applause. Turning red and realising I can¡¯t let this opportunity go to waste I shout ¡°Come buy weapons, knifes, and armour from Ronan behind me in the blacksmith!¡± A crowd of people nod their head and walk into the blacksmith. Finally, some customers. Feeling good about myself, I spend the next 6 hours dancing and inviting people to the blacksmith. In the process I earn two points to my vitality from tiring myself out. Ronan comes out of the blacksmith and calls me inside. I follow Ronan to the rear of the blacksmith near the forge. ¡°You did way better than I expected¡± said Ronan grinning from ear to ear ¡°I got more customers today than I usually get in a whole month. Would you like to work for me bringing in customers?¡± ¡°I¡¯m sorry Ronan, I need to visit other towns to meet people, I can¡¯t stay in one place.¡± I explained. ¡°Ah too bad, you are very good for business.¡± Ronan pouted ¡°Oh well, as promised I will teach you how to maintain your equipment. Watch what I do.¡± Ronan grabbed a sword which was bent at an odd angle from a pile in the corner of the room and placed it in the forge. After the blade heated up to a dull red, he withdrew it from the coals and began hitting it with a hammer. After a few hits he quenched the blade and returned it to the coals. He repeated this three times until the blade regained its former shape. After this he took the sword to a grinding wheel and began to sharpen the sword. Finishing he showed me the blade. ¡°This is the basics of repairing, now it¡¯s your turn¡± I went to the pile of blades and picked one up. I proceeded to follow his steps, after my fifth blade I finally earnt the skill *triing*
New skill unlocked: Repair
Allows you to repair equipment Repairs up to 30% of an items maximum durability Mana cost: 10 + items maximum durability
¡°Good work, as you become more skilled you will be able to better repair equipment¡± Ronan explained. ¡°Thank you for your help Ronan¡± ¡°In order to repair you need a forge, a hammer and tongs. To repair clothing you need a needle and thread. Since you helped me so much today, I will give you a basic set so that you can repair your equipment on your travels.¡± *triiing*
quest complete: attract customers for Ronan
You have gone above and beyond Ronan¡¯s expectations and attracted more customers than Ronan has ever seen in a single day. Reward: Repair skill Basic blacksmithing equipment
¡°Thank you Ronan, I will take good care of it.¡± I said my farewells to Ronan and left the store. After leaving the store I headed down the street and entered the tailors. I showed my silver wolf pelt to the tailor and they sent me to the tanners to get the pelt treated so that it could be worked. At the tailors I handed over the pelt and 10 coppers for the pelt to be treated. I was told it would take three hours for it to be tanned. I took this time to log out and tell my father about Ryan.

next chapter will explain how ryan was lvling up so fast, as well as the completion Alicia''s time in Stormbridge. Chapter 7: Farewell Stormbridge Logging out I feel light headed, the standard feeling I feel from getting out of the capsule. Looking up at the clock I notice its 6:00pm. I grab the towel next to me and rub off the feeling of the gel. The gel leaves no residue but, the feeling of it is weird and so I ritualistically rub myself with my towel before dnning my clothes which I left on the bed. I go to the living room and find that my dad is not home and probably still at work. I decide to call him in his mobile phone. ¡°Hello Alicia, what''s the matter?¡± my father answers after the third dial tone. ¡°Hey dad, nothing¡¯s wrong, I just met an unusual player in Wing¡¯s to Tomorrow.¡± ¡°Oh unusual, please do tell.¡± ¡°There was an assassin called Ryan bragging in town about knowing of a quick method to reach level 50. The game hasn¡¯t been out long enough for anyone to reach that level, so I challenged him to a duel and defeated him. Do you think you can find out if he used any kind of exploits?¡± ¡°If you duelled him, it shouldn¡¯t be too hard to pull up his records, I¡¯ll check right away and call you back. Anyway, how have you been enjoying yourself since it went live? Have you made any friends yet?¡± ¡°It¡¯s quite fun, I¡¯m playing as a blade dancer this time instead of a mage. I haven¡¯t met anyone yet but, I¡¯m thinking of heading over to where Vanessa is and partying with her for a while.¡± ¡°That¡¯s good to hear, I¡¯ll talk to you soon¡± we said our farewells over the phone and hung up. Finishing the call I dialled Vanessa. If you receive a phone call whilst playing the game, you can connect to it in game. ¡°Hello¡± Vanessa answered. ¡°Hey Ness, how have you been?¡± ¡°Ah Alicia, this game is great, better than you said. I travelled to Heaton like you suggested and visited the temple of Hecate. I¡¯m an acolyte of Hecate now. I can heal and use basic illusion magic.¡± ¡°That¡¯s awesome, a god related class is usually stronger than the average classes. I¡¯m finished in Stormbridge, I will head over to you, where will you be?¡± ¡°Oh, I¡¯m usually somewhere around the temple, if I¡¯m not there you can ask someone.¡± We spent the next hour talking about Wing¡¯s to Tomorrow. After the call concluded, I went to make dinner, clean up and took a bath. While I was in the bath my dad called back and explained the issue with Ryan. It turns out that Ryan wasn¡¯t really using any exploits. He was blessed by his Patron god, the goddess of revenge Nemesis. Part of being blessed by nemesis means that as long as one isn¡¯t under another god¡¯s protection, he can kill a player or NPC without any repercussions as long as it is an act of revenge. Ryan had been tricking NPC¡¯s and players alike into bullying him, then using his stealth skill to sneak up behind them and executing them by decapitation. The experience earned for killing an NPC or player is much greater than that for killing a monster so he gained levels extremely quickly. My dad also told me that since I had defeated Ryan in a duel, he is able to kill me whenever he wants in revenge. Guess I have to watch my back from now on. Having relaxed and finding out the situation with Ryan, I logged back into the game. I collected the tanned silver wolf hide from the tanners, and took it to the tailors. ¡°What would you like me to make with it?¡± the lady at the counter asked. ¡°I would like some boots that are easy to move around in which focus on appearance to go with my outfit.¡± ¡°Very well, come back in a couple hours and I will have them ready for you.¡± I left the tailor and went to the general store to buy supplies for my trip to Heaton. I bought a pot, ladle and a flint to let me cook food. I was tired of eating stale bread by this point, and since I have the cooking skill, why should I eat poorly. I also bought various herbs and spices, and some dried meat for if I can¡¯t find ingredients whilst travelling. After completing my purchases for the trip, I headed to the adventurer¡¯s guild and looked at the job board. On the board was a flyer for protecting a caravan on its way to Heaton. It would be a two week trip.
Quest received: Protect the caravan
a group of merchants are heading to Heaton. There are bandits known to gather near the road. Protect the caravan on its way to Heaton. Meet up at the west gate tomorrow at 6:00am. Enjoying the story? Show your support by reading it on the official site. Reward: 5 silver Failure: the caravan is robbed
I left the adventurer¡¯s guild and walked around town stopping at a cafe for tea and cake. I love strawberry cheesecake and the effect of not gaining weight from eating in game is a god send. After stuffing my face with cake I went to the tailor¡¯s to pick up my boots. ¡°I did a fine job if I do say so myself¡± the tailor exclaimed. ¡°These boots will increase your manoeuvrability slightly yet, at the same time make you look much more attractive.¡± The tailor handed me the boots. The boots were a sparkling silver reaching up to my ankles. They reflected every ray of sunshine making them look dazzling to the eye. The boots were very light and the material was very soft.

I thank the tailor for the boots, and head to Cassandra¡¯s for the night before leaving in the morning. I meet up at the gate just prior to 6:00am and see a group of 3 covered wagons and 1 uncovered each with two horses pulling them, a group of 7 merchants, and another group of 5 adventurer¡¯s. I walk up to the group of merchant¡¯s and greet them telling them I¡¯m here for the protection quest. ¡°Welcome, I¡¯m Raphael. The adventurer¡¯s over there are the others who are coming. It looks like you are the last to arrive, we will be leaving shortly. You should get to know the others.¡± the richest looking merchant explained. I walk over to the group of adventurers and introduce myself. ¡°Umm, hi¡± I timidly say. ¡°I¡¯m Elyssa, a level 10 blade dancer, nice to meet you all.¡± ¡°Hello Elyssa, I¡¯m Zach level 12 mage specialising in lightning¡± a tall tanned man with medium length blue hair, hazel eyes. Zach wore a light blue robe with a hood which barely concealed his muscular physique. He held a wooden staff about 1.5 metres long which looked to be made from some old gnarled tree. ¡°Alex, level 8 Spearman¡± A young boy with short close cropped red hair said. His eyes were the same fire red as his hair, and he only stood to about 4¡¯10¡± average height for someone of his age. He wore a brass breastplate, and leather pants holding a crude spear. The spear was about 1.8 metres long and had a small piece of iron on its tip. It looked more like a javelin than a spear. On his back he had a small round buckler made of wood and reinforced by iron. ¡°Maria, level 9 jongleur¡± said a beautiful blond haired woman with a radiant smile. She wore a simple red dress which went down to the ground, and held in her hands a small copper harp. She had the appearance of a model and had the bearing to warrant it. ¡°Ruby, level 7 cleric¡± said a timid girl. Her long smooth black hair covered most of her face reaching down to the small of her back. She wore a pure white dress of similar design to Maria¡¯s, and held a brown leather bound tome in her hands. ¡°Archie, and as you can guess I¡¯m a level 14 ranger¡± an old man with short grey hair and a grey beard stated with an exaggerated bow. He wore leather pants and a leather jerkin. On his back he had a quiver and a recurve bow. After we finished our introductions we climbed onto the wagons and began our journey to Heaton.

Sorry about the short chapter, it just seemed like a good spot to end it. I will release a third chapter today to make up for it and as thanks for the comments/ratings/view count as always suggestions will be welcome, I have a small gap that I haven''t got any plans for coming up soon and I don''t want to time skip so any suggestions are more than welcome. Chapter 8: Protect the Caravan In the front of the convoy was one of the covered wagons containing Alex and Archie. Archie was our lookout due to his enhanced senses, a trait of rangers. Their job was to watch ahead for anything that may attack us. The second wagon was also a covered wagon, most of the materials for sale were in this wagon leaving no space for us adventurers. The third wagon was the open wagon in which myself and Maria sat because our support skills could help protect the convoy. In the rear wagon was Zach and Ruby. Zach and ruby were positioned there to protect against any attacks from behind. Our journey started travelling through open fields and was pretty uneventful. After a couple of hours, one of the merchants requested for Maria to play her harp and sing a few songs to entertain us. Maria agreed and began singing a few short ditties. The songs were light hearted and funny telling stories of things that had happened in Stormbridge. Quite a few of the songs were about a farmer who tripped over his dog on a daily basis. It seemed like Maria was quite fond of the old farmer in her songs. On the third day of the trip we reached a mountain path which had gnolls on it. Gnolls are a humanoid race with a wolf head and short stumpy legs. The gnolls came in three types, a melee type which used a two bladed battle axe and a heavy shield. An archer who used a short bow, and a shaman which could heal and curse with its blood magic. The gnolls range between level twenty and thirty five. Gnolls hunt in packs of three to five, yet a settlement can contain many packs forming a clan. Maria was unable to sing whilst we were in the mountains because we didn¡¯t want to attract the gnolls. After 10 minutes in the mountain we ran into our first pack of gnolls. It was a pack of 3 melee gnolls and 2 archer gnolls. Maria immediately went into song which created a barrier around the wagons leaving 2 metres on either side. The warrior gnolls charged at us whilst the archer gnolls fires from a distance. The barrier deflected the arrows as they came into contact with it causing confusion amongst the archers. Alex ran to the front and drew his spear and shield trying to absorb the blows of the gnoll warriors protecting the rest of us. Zach casted lightning spells at the archers causing them to stagger and let arrows loose in every direction. Archie shot at the archers in the rear helping Zach out. I ran up to the three melee gnolls and performed my dance of the Warrior increasing our damage considerably. Ruby kept casting regeneration spells on Alex to keep him healthy. Archie managed the first kill shooting an arrow between the eyes of one of the archers. At almost the same time I hit one of the warriors in a chink of its armour causing it to cry in pain and retreat a few paces. The gnoll I hit changed its target to me but was unable to hit me due to my unpredictable movements. The second archer came down next from the accumulated damage from Archie¡¯s arrows and Zach¡¯s lightning. The two quickly changed targets to one of the warriors attacking Alex. Maria stopped her shield and changed her song to a calm soothing song. Hearing the song washed away the fatigue I was feeling from the fight so far. I struck the gnoll in the leg causing it to fall and finished it off with a lunge to the head. The other two warriors saw this and tried to retreat, one died immediately as it turned from a spear running through from its back straight into its heart. The other died shortly after from an arrow plunging through the back of its head. Successfully defeating the gnolls we congratulated each other and returned to the wagons to rest. After 15 minutes to rest, the merchant on the cart with us asked me to dance since we couldn¡¯t have Maria singing, I complied and began a sort of country jig. I didn¡¯t have much moving space because of being on a moving wagon and it was hard to balance due to the rocks on the path yet, the merchants and other players didn¡¯t mind and enjoyed it anyway shouting words of encouragement to me. We spent the rest of the day travelling through the mountains. We ran into 4 packs that day consisting of combinations of archers and warriors. We didn¡¯t run into any of the shamans but, our luck wasn¡¯t to last. That night whilst we sat around camp a large group of gnolls ambushed us. Archie warned us in advance of somebody coming close due to his advance hearing but, even that didn¡¯t prepare us for what was to exit the thicket we were camped in. In the thicket there were several pairs of red eyes approaching us and a pressure bearing down on us from within. Maria sang and pulled up her barrier to deflect arrows. She told us that although the song will protect against projectiles fired from outside, those fired from within or spells cast can pass through the barrier unhindered. We created a formation in the direction of the gnolls as they started charging from the forest. At the front was Alex, slightly behind to the right I was standing. Behind that was from the left Archie, Zach and Ruby. A few metres behind us was Maria playing her harp and singing. In a single moment everything went into chaos. Fourteen gnolls stormed out of the thicket wielding their signature heavy battle axes, they discarded their shields and went into a full offence. A storm of arrows pelted down above our heads bouncing off the barrier from the direction of the thicket. We drew our weapons and began to fend off the attacks from the warriors. I performed my dance of the sylph to help us avoid the attacks and improve our survivability. As soon as we killed our first gnoll it screamed in agony and out from the thicket walked three more gnolls. The air was rich with the metallic stench of blood and the pressure bearing down on us increased. One of the gnolls drew a dagger and had a crooked smile. If looks could kill I would have died a hundred fold. The gnoll slashed its wrist with his dagger and a geyser of blood sprayed out onto the ground. The blood then came up into the air and covered the edges of the warrior axes. Support the creativity of authors by visiting the original site for this novel and more. The first to get hit was Archie. ¡°Poison!¡± he exclaimed. ¡°The Shaman enchanted their weapons.¡± Ruby quickly reacted and cleansed Archie of his poison but, at the same time I got hit. I lost 18 percent of my life in a single hit. ¡°Huh?¡± I said ¡°I didn¡¯t get poisoned.¡± The shamans realising this cast a slew of curses on me and I began to feel sluggish. In the meantime, Archie managed to take out 3 of the gnoll warriors with the help of Zach paralysing them. ¡°AHHHHHHH¡± a scream could be heard and where Alex stood a pile of grey dust emerged. Alex was slain by the warriors. ¡°Alex!¡± Shouted Ruby, Zach and I. Angry at the warrior who slayed Alex I changed dance. I performed my dance of the Berserker for my first time ever in battle. In a matter of seconds every gnoll changed their target to me. The arrows bombarded directly above me head and the warriors began swinging their blades at me. Zach caught on and used an area of effect spell called static. Static is a spell that chains off enemies dealing almost zero damage however, in return it causes enemies to stagger and has a low chance to paralyse. We quickly dispatched eight more warrior gnolls in an instant by striking fatal blows with my sword and Archie¡¯s arrows. Then the situation changed again. One of the shaman¡¯s drew his blade and plunged it into the heart of the gnoll next to him causing a two and a half metre geyser of blood spraying out towards us. Straight after that, he stabbed the other shaman in exactly the same manner. The geysers of blood crossed and merged then rose into the air. The blood started pouring down soaking through the barrier and immersing Maria in thick red blood. The second the blood hit Maria she fell unconscious on the ground and the barrier above us failed and disappeared. Arrows started falling all around us and in an instant Archie was riddled with arrows and died in a cloud of grey dust. Zach and Ruby retreated slightly running around avoiding arrows. As mages, they needed to stand still and concentrate to cast their spells. I quickly dispatched the last two warrior gnolls and continued my dance of the berserker causing the arrows to fall around my general vicinity. I danced for what seemed like hours watching as bright yellow and white flashes appeared in the thicket until finally Zach emerged from behind the bushes telling me that it was over and I can rest. Ruby spent the next 20 minutes cleansing Maria from the shaman blood. And we called the caravan to move as soon as possible because the stench of blood would attract more gnolls. By morning we managed to exit the mountains not running into any more gnolls. We were all feeling depressed after we left the mountains. We had lost two of our companions, Alex and Archie. The atmosphere was gloomy. The songs played by Maria all had a solemn tone and my dances accompanying it were half hearted to go with it. On the ninth day we entered a thick forest and fought off the occasional bear attack until at one point we were ambushed by a group a six. In an instant six people dressed in ragged clothing and wielding crude daggers leapt out from the shadows of the forest and charged at us. The bandits looked thin and malnourished with their bones sticking out. ¡°Bandits! to arms¡± Raphael shouted. I began dancing my dance of the dragon to weaken the minds of the bandits. The bandits didn¡¯t even flinch because they were drive by their need for food. The bandits weren¡¯t afraid to lose their lives so they fought aggressively. The bandits had no technique and were easy to attack due to their lack of training. Zach kept casting static whilst Maria sung her song which removes fatigue. After a 15 minute battle, the bandits were dispatched and we continued on. Due to the Gnolls we fought in the mountains we had gained 6 levels each making the starving bandits weak in comparison. I had also unlocked a new skill balancing which makes it easier for me to strike from awkward positions during my dances. The skill unlocked because of me dancing on the wagon and stumbling due to rocks in the path. After 2 more days we finally arrived in Heaton. The sight was breathtaking. You could actually see the mana in the sky, truly a city of magic. Looking down the main street you could see water dancing around the streets, sculptures were made from the various elements. In the centre was a fountain made of fire spraying out in arches from the centre. The fire of the fountain didn¡¯t look hot because people were drinking from it. The buildings were made from white stone with pillars being common. The city looks like an ancient roman city if magic was a reality. Raphael came up and spoke to us. ¡°Thank you for protecting the caravan, we are sorry it was at the cost of your friends lives.¡± Raphael took out a seal and wax. He took each of our flyers for the quest one by one and dropped wax on it followed by imprinting his seal into the wax to create a mark. ¡°Show those flyers to the adventurer¡¯s guild for your reward.¡± We left one by one, as I was about to leave, Raphael stopped me ¡°Elyssa, I have something extra for you for entertaining us on the trip with your dances¡± Raphael had a sleazy grin on his face before handing me a glass comb.

Phew finally in Heaton, I get to write about Vanessa now, look forward to it Chapter 9: A new Adventure I followed the direction of the others towards the adventurer¡¯s guild. The adventurers guild was located 2 buildings short of the fiery fountain. Based on the layout of the town I could tell that this town did not have the standard bon fire, it used a fountain of fire instead for its hearth. I went to the fountain and prayed to Hestia.
you have received the protection of Hestia
Until you leave the city you will be under the protection of Hestia as a friend of the city
Completing my ritual when entering the city, I head back the adventurer¡¯s guild in order to report my quest progress. The adventurer¡¯s guild had the same layout as the one from Stormbridge, except it reflected the style of the city by having fire dancing around on the walls. I walked up to the receptionist, a young elven woman around 16 years of age wearing leather armour and having a long bow strapped to her back. I showed her the evidence of my quest being completed. ¡°Oh, you must be with the others who just came before. They said you would be coming.¡±
Quest completed: Protect the caravan
you protected the caravan as it made its way from Stormbridge to Heaton. Although it took the lives of two adventurers, you still managed to keep the goods safe. Reward: 5 silver Fame +20
The receptionist handed over five silver coins and said ¡°it looks like you have managed to complete two quests successfully. The guild is pleased to announce that your reputation has increased to E. with this you can now access the second floor and take quests from the board designed for E reputation quests.¡± ¡°Thank you, I will be back at a later time to look at the available quests¡± I said stiffly before leaving. Looking out towards the east end of town, I could see a tall white building with pillars at the front. It was a dead giveaway to be the temple of the titan goddess Hecate. I made my way through the city to the temple and stared up at it. The temple was approximately 20 metres tall. From the inside, it had three solid polished white stone walls, and the entrance I came through was made of tall white columns leaving the temple wide open for anyone to enter at any time. The room was completely empty except for at the rear wall, there was one of the biggest statues I have ever seen. Standing approximately fifteen metres tall was a statue of what I assume to be Hecate. Hecate was seated on a throne with beads wrapped around her head as if she were wearing a necklace around her head. She wore a single dress of Gregorian fashion reaching down to her feet on which you could see sandals. Her posture was completely open as if she was welcoming you to enter. In the temple were many people bowing down the statue, and a few priests waiting nearby. I walked up to the closest priest, a young girl with short blonde hair, wearing a white hooded robe. ¡°Hello, I was told my friend would be around her somewhere, she said if she wasn¡¯t here that someone would know.¡± I said. ¡°Ah you must be talking about Rosetta. She is probably in the tea house down the road, here take this map it will show you where to go.¡± she took out a map and drew a mark where the tea house is before handing it to me. ¡°Thank you for your help.¡± ¡°No problem, a friend of Rosetta¡¯s is a friend of ours. May Hecate protect you?¡± I left the temple and went to the tea house where Vanessa, or should I say Rosetta was. The tea house was open to let the breeze flow through, there were small ferns growing inside and beautiful small pink carnations decorating the building. As I entered the building I immediately saw Vanessa sitting down. She had barely changed her appearance at all. She kept her signature medium length wavy blonde hair, although it seems she changed her eyes to be green. She kept her height the same being just a little taller than me still. She was wearing the same white robe the girl at the temple wore, and sitting on the table next to her was a brown leather bound book with gold leaf pages. Vanessa was sitting at the table drinking a tea with a piece of chocolate sponge cake in front of her. Vanessa loved chocolate more than anything. I walked up to Vanessa and called her name. ¡°Alicia, is that you?¡± she said. ¡°You look so cute!¡± she squealed. Her compliment made me blush and a message popped up in front of me.

¡°WHAT!¡± I shouted. ¡°Huh? what¡¯s wrong are you not Alicia?¡± Vanessa queried ¡°Oh it¡¯s me or should I say I¡¯m Elyssa here. It¡¯s just when you complimented me I gained 1 to my attractiveness stat.¡± I started calming down. Vanessa had a grin on her face and I immediately regretted telling her. Faster than I could see her move, she ran up behind me and locked her right leg around mine and wrapped her left arm around my waist pinning me in a spot. I felt her finger gently run up the back of my spine causing me to shudder and inadvertently let out a squeal.

Vanessa then blew on the back of my neck and proceeded to nibble on my ear causing a moan to escape my lips.

Vanessa then moved her hands to my breasts and proceeded to fondle them vigorously causing me to completely freak out. Everyone in the vicinity started staring at me. The men had slack grins and the woman showed pity in their eyes. I felt like me temperature raised tenfold and I thrust my elbow sharply back into Vanessa¡¯s ribs launching her off me.

¡°Ouch! I¡¯m sorry, I¡¯m sorry, I¡¯m sorry. I couldn¡¯t resist, you''re just so cute.¡± Vanessa apologised clutching her ribs. ¡°Humph¡± I said turning my head still being angry about my humiliation. I knew I would forgive her almost immediately like I always did but, I wanted to at least tease her a little in return. ¡°Come on Alicia, I¡¯m really sorry here, I won¡¯t do it again¡± she said with a huge grin on her face. ¡°Oh fine but, you need to call me Elyssa here¡± ¡°No you will be Eli¡± ¡°Ok R-o-s-i-e¡± I said stressing every letter She lifted her eyebrow at that comment. ¡°I don¡¯t remember telling you my name¡± ¡°The girl at the temple told me.¡± We sat down at the table, I ordered strawberry cheesecake, and a rose tea. We sat and talked for hours, catching up on all we had done and gossiping about the people and things we had seen.

Having caught up we decided to go to the adventurer¡¯s guild to find a quest to do. Entering the guild, we walked to the left at the stair where the guard was and I displayed my job list. ¡°Show job list.¡±

The guard let us up to the second floor. The second floor had three separate boards, one on the left wall which was for reputation E, one on the back wall for Reputation D, and one on the right wall for Reputation C. Other than Rosie and I, there were two other people in the room standing at the board to the left. We walked up to the board and I recognised one of the two men at the board. ¡°Zach?¡± I said before thinking. Zach turned and looked at me. ¡°Oh Elyssa, fancy meeting you here. Come to find a quest?¡± ¡°Yes, I came with my friend Rosie here¡± I said turning around and poking my tongue out at Rosetta. I wasn¡¯t quite over the humiliation in the tea house yet. ¡°Oh? Who is this?¡± Rosetta asked grinning from ear to ear. ¡°This is Zach, I told you about him, we came on the caravan here.¡± ¡°Hmm Zach huh.¡± Rosetta muttered examining Zach. Zach backed away looking uncomfortable. ¡°He passes!¡± Rosetta exclaimed ¡°Zach would you like to do a quest with us?¡± ¡°What?¡± I shouted. ¡°Sure¡± Zach said. Oh great, another person. Vanessa quickly leapt forward towards the other person in the room and grabbed his arm. The other person looked at Rosetta with a slight scowl. He was wearing a bronze breastplate, a bronze helmet with red horse hair sticking out of the top in a sort of fan. He had a bronze plate skirt, and bronze greaves. In his left hand was an aspis shield, and his right was a doru; a three metre long wooden spear with a leaf shaped spearhead. On his waist was an iron short sword. The Spearman said ¡°if I must¡± ¡°Not very friendly are you¡± Rosetta pouted ¡°well you must.¡± Rosetta quickly took a flyer from the board and without looking at it said ¡°We are doing this¡± Rosetta dragged us down to the counter and signed us up for her quest.
Quest Accepted: Clear the abandoned mine
The nearby iron mine has been abandoned for the past five years and scorpions have made it their home. Enter the mine and retake it so that mining operations can begin once more. Rewards: 50 silver Failure: someone else clears the mine before you
¡°RO-ZE-TA¡± I stressed poking her for each syllable. ¡°You took a dungeon clear quest, how are we meant to do that?¡± ¡°I dunno, we just will?¡± she said looking worried. Zach, the other guy, and I sighed simultaneously. Now that we had accepted the quest, we couldn¡¯t cancel it without losing a rank from our reputation with the adventurer¡¯s guild. We had no choice but to go along with Rosetta¡¯s whims. As we were heading towards the mine, we did introductions. ¡°Rosetta but, you can call me Rosie. << Previous ChapterNext Chapter>>

Sorry the chapter was late, been kind of busy today. Vanessa is so much easier to write for than Alicia. I decided on scorpions instead of kobolds because I thought kobolds are too boring for creatures in a mine. hope nobody mind me using abnormal creatures. thank you to all who rated, and commented. Chapter 10:The Abandoned Mine At the entrance of the mine for form a party. The party system in Wing¡¯s to Tomorrow allow anyone to pick up any item that is dropped from monsters. The experience is set so that the person you lands the killing blow on a monster receives the full 100% experience that they would receive for killing it solo. The other players receive 50% of the experience provided they took part in the battle. Support classes like a bard, or healer receive 60% of the experience as well. This means that Rosetta and I will be receiving 60% each from every monster unless we manage to kill any, at which point we will receive 100%. My blade dancer class is a subclass of dancer which is a support class. After we were all in the party we started our journey through the mine. It was only 2 minutes of walking before we ran into our first monster. It was a black scorpion about 80 centimetres long and 25 centimetres tall. Its long black tail protruded over its head with a sharp spike on the end with a green stick substance on the very tip. The tail was longer than the scorpion itself making it look very menacing. The scorpion had long pitch black claws in front of it ready to block attacks. Rosetta quickly crawled up behind me and grabbed me with a quite shriek. Rosetta hated all kinds of insects and bugs, so an overgrown scorpion was not her favourite enemy to face. Pushing Rosetta back I moved to the front next to Kairen and unsheathed my rapier. Zach came in between me and Rosetta and prepared to cast a spell. Zach drew his shield and readied his doru I order to strike the scorpion. Zach started off by shouting some kind of war cry ¡°YAAAAAAAAA.¡± Hearing the cry the scorpion launched its tail in an instant being blocked by Kairen¡¯s shield. Noticing the speed of the scorpion¡¯s strike I began my dance of the sylph raising party evasion. Zach finished his spell and cast a white lightning bolt from the tip of his staff. The bolt was aimed at the head of the scorpion but, as it got closer it curved up and hit the tip of its tail as if it was a lightning rod. Kairen and I began our assault stabbing at the scorpion yet most of our attacks bounced off dealing next to no damage. We changed our attack angles to try and hit the chinks in the scorpion¡¯s carapace although only one in every ten hits landed. It is very difficult to aim at a pin sized gap and so luck played a huge part in this fight. Zach finished his next spell, paralyse shot. This spell works similar to static except it targets only a single enemy causing a much higher chance of staggering and paralysing an enemy. The spell took effect immediately and the scorpion stopped attacking. I took this time to slow my attack and aim carefully at the chink near its head. My strike hit causing a strange chirping sound. The sound caused me to shudder, yet Kairen followed up with a strike where mine hit completely impaling the scorpion causing it to turn into grey dust. Relieved that the scorpion was no more, Rosetta collapsed. Our weapons had taken considerable damage from hitting the hard shell of the scorpion. I told everyone to hand me any equipment they needed to repair and began repairing. Being level one in my repair skill, I could only restore an item to 30% of its max durability. This left the items I repaired with lower durability meaning we had to be more careful. During my trip with Zach and the caravan, I repaired everyone¡¯s equipment regularly causing my repair skill to gain a lot of experience and was about to reach the next level. After repairing all the gear It finally reached level two *triing*
Repair Beginner lvl 2
Allows you to repair equipment Repairs up to 40% of an items maximum durability Mana cost: 10 + items maximum durability
Because our weapons were at low durability we discussed a strategy to take down the scorpions. We decided to hold back the enemies until Zach could paralyse them. This technique is generally referred to as tanking. After Zach manages to paralyse them, we will strike at the chinks in their armour near the head aiming down through it to strike the heart. The heart is the only place on a scorpion that can cause a fatal hit yet it was protected by an armoured carapace making it hard to hit. We put this strategy into practice dispatching three solitary scorpions with ease. I continued to maintain equipment after battle due to the durability loss from fighting heavy armoured creatures. We finally ran into our first pack of scorpions. There were only three, one less than us. We prepared our formation and Kairen began tanking. The three scorpions attacked all at once as if they could telepathically communicate with one another. Three tails launched simultaneously at Kairen at different spots. Kairen managed to take the first tail on the shield. The second tail flew straight past him barely missing him, and the third tail grazed his leg. Kairen was instantly poisoned by the tail grazing him. Rosetta seeing Kairen get hit, snapped out of her fear and cleansed the poison from his wound with a green curative light. Zach managed to paralyse one of the scorpions, and I went in to try attack it. As I lunged to strike at it, a tail flew from another scorpion and hit me in the arm causing me to drop my sword. a white light enveloped me and my wound began to heal. ¡°We can¡¯t hit it when there¡¯s two others defending it!¡± I shouted. ¡°Hold them back, I will try something¡± Rosetta yelled back. Rosetta began chanting a long spell while Kairen began tanking. I ran to pick up my rapier and began hitting back the tails that were aimed at Kairen. Rosetta finally finished her chant and shouted ¡°Illusion of duplicity!¡± The area around us light up with a dim purple light and standing next to us was identical copies of ourselves fighting with the scorpions. ¡°Hurry, this spell drains my mana extremely fast, I can¡¯t hold on for long¡± Kairen retreated a bit behind the illusions and Zach cast static on the scorpions. The scorpions staggered and we struck the paralysed scorpion killing it. We then began to strike at the remaining two scorpions using the illusions to our advantage finally managing to kill them just before Rosetta ran out of mana. After the battle, we had to take a break. I pulled out a pot and began to cook some of the scorpion meat spicing it with some of the herbs and spices I had on me. You could be reading stolen content. Head to the original site for the genuine story. In the meantime Rosetta meditated to speed up her mana recovery. Zach and Kairen started chatting to one another; they seemed to get on well together and even added each other as friends. Finally the food I cooked was ready. The food recovered some of our fatigue although even with my intermediate cooking it was chewy and quite horrible. Because I had never cooked with scorpion before, I had no idea how to prepare it lowering the taste and quality of the food. Having eaten and repaired our equipment we continued to tack the mines. After 3 days in the mines battling scorpions, we came to a round chamber with a path guarded by a new type of enemy. The enemy was 2 metres tall and 3 metres long. it was as if a scorpion and a human fused together. The creature sat on eight legs, with a huge tail reaching out behind with a fifty centimetre long barb on the end. From the front was a humanoid body with black shells covering it and on the end of its hands were massive claws similar to a mud crab. ¡°Humans!¡± the creature called out. The scorpion ran up and targeted Kairen due to his war cry. The scorpion rained down blows with his claws causing shockwaves on Kairen¡¯s shield. Straining to hold the weight of the blows, Kairen began to get pushed back. I ran behind the scorpion and began dance of the warrior to increase our damage. Due to the thick carapace, I didn¡¯t think that our blows would be able to pierce even the chinks in its armour. Zach cast paralyse shot continuously bombarding the scorpion to no avail. Rosetta had her hands full trying to keep Kairen alive. I kept striking any opening I saw at the back of the scorpion aiming primarily at its legs to try reach the chinks. In all my time playing the beta, I had never seen a creature such as this. When the scorpion lost about a quarter of its health, it struck out at Kairen and hit him with its tail on the hand. Kairen dropped his doru which was held in the hand and became unable to use the hand. His hand was paralysed from one strike. ¡°Watch out for its tail! It can paralyse us¡± Kairen yelled. Immediately hearing that I changed target from the legs to the tail trying to cause it to be severed from a rain of blows. Zach realising that the scorpion could paralyse and likely being immune changed up his spells to a standard lightning bolt targeted at the scorpion¡¯s head. After five blows to the tail, the tail was severed reducing the threat of the scorpion. The spot where the tail fell from was open flesh finally giving me a proper target. Zach¡¯s lightning caused the scorpion to be dazed for a couple seconds after each hit allowing us to finally dispatch the scorpion. We continued down the mines clearing the scorpions for the next two days running into groups of normal and humanoid scorpions. Many times Kairen almost died and Rosetta was forced to use illusions to distract the scorpions but with each battle we grew a little stronger gaining 7 levels during our time in the mines. We finally came to the last area of the mine. Inside was a creature only seen in myths, a manticore. The manticore was huge at an amazing 7 metres long with the body of a lion. Its fur war a shade of crimson red, and its face was that of a beautiful red headed man. Coming from the back of it was a massive black scorpion like tail with three sharp spikes on the end. The tail was at least 9 metres long dripping a yellowy green substance. The manticore''s neck was just over 1 foot long, slender yet covered in its red fur. Coming from its head was a mane of red flowing hair and a regal beard that you might imagine on a Scandinavian Viking. ¡°Who dares enter my lair!¡± the Manticore shouted sounding as if a trumpet was blaring. Immediately behind us an army of scorpions and their humanoid counterparts came and blocked the entrance that we came through. The manticore shifted its weight onto its rear legs and launched from one side of the 50 metre long room to the other in less than a second flooring Kairen in an instant. The manticore then proceeded to slash at Kairen¡¯s head immediately being decapitated and the head flying across the room with a stream of blood spraying from his neck. His head and body proceeded to disappear in a cloud of grey dust. Rosetta screamed and collapsed at the sight of Kairen dying. The manticore proceeded to jump and slash Rosetta through the chest instantly killing her before turning its attention towards Zach who launched a bolt of lightning at the manticore. The Manticore retaliated by shooting a spike from its tail which hit Zach in the chest causing him to convulse in a seizure like state. The manticore then ran up and pierced him through the heart with its tail which had replaced the launched spike with a new one. The manticore then turned its attention to me and I charged. I headed straight at the group of scorpions that blocked the entry that we came through only to be hit in my back by a spike paralysing me making me lay on my back. The manticore walked up to me slowly and opened its mouth showing three rows of shark like teeth. I closed my eyes as the manticore leaned forward and started to slowly eat me alive. The pain was excruciating and it felt like hours before I finally blacked out and a message of relieve entered my vision.

I have made edits to previous chapters. chapter 9: Rosetta and Elyssa add each other as friends in the tea house prologue & chapter 7: modified the capsule and the way in which it works. I didn''t like just saying a capsule because it makes no sense as to how it works. chapter 6: added a mana cost for repair skill I hope the changes are welcome. Chapter 11: Second Class ¡°Ahhhhhhh!¡± I shrieked getting ejected from the pod. My body still felt like I was being eaten by the manticore. I knew the feeling would go away shortly but, of all the deaths I had in the beta, this one the most brutal. I climbed out of the pod and crawled up on my bed waiting for the after effects to go away rocking back and forth. Once the effects died down and I calmed down I finally looked at the clock. It was 4:50pm. I decided to get dressed and head downstairs to make dinner. As I walked down stairs I saw my dad in the living room. ¡°Good morning¡± he said ¡°are you ok? I heard screaming¡± ¡°I died a pitiful death in WTT.¡± I said depressed. ¡°It can¡¯t have been that bad can it?¡± ¡°Do you want to see?¡± ¡°Humour me, it can¡¯t be that bad if you¡¯re willing to show me.¡± I went upstairs with my dad and turned on the computer. VR pods are set to record anything that you experience within it as both a safety measure, and so that users can share their adventurers. I loaded the feed from my pod and skipped ahead to the part where we entered the room with the manticore. As my dad watched the movie he looked horrified. He himself never actually played the game, so he never knew how gruesome and realistic parts of it could be. ¡°I have seen deaths before but, that one takes the cake. If that were released to the public the game could get banned.¡± Being a co-owner, his job relied more on the business side and managing employees. He had little to do with the content of the game but, even he was told that most of the content was generated by A.I. This meant that the creators had very little control of what happens in game. ¡°I have fought monsters that eat humans but, this is the first time one has tried to eat me alive.¡± I replied. My dad came up to me and hugged me tight. ¡°Are you ok Ali?¡± Any time I feel sad or scared my dad would always comfort me. My mother died when I was just two years old so my father raised me and took care of me on his own my whole life. I grew to rely on him. You could call me a daddy¡¯s girl since he is the first person I go to when something is wrong even though I am already 18 years old. I sat there crying and talking to my dad for a good 30 minutes remaining in his warm embrace before I finally decided to go back downstairs. As I was about to enter the kitchen, my dad stopped me. ¡°No you had a hard day today, I will cook tonight.¡± I went to sit down on the couch in our living room and turned on the television. I turned the TV on and began watching the news. Towards the end of the news where they play sport, an extra section had be added than what I¡¯m used to. They started talking about Wing¡¯s to Tomorrow. The broadcasters said that the game had become a sensation worldwide. They started talking about what the world was like, concentrating on Stormbridge and showing a group of players fighting a wolf. Once the segment came to an end the announcer said that they are going to make a permanent part of the sports section of the news to talk about the events and happenings in Wing¡¯s to Tomorrow. After watching television for a bit longer, my dad finished cooking and we ate together and talked about what we had been doing. After eating I went upstairs to take a bath and went back to my bedroom. Laying on my bed I decided to call Vanessa. ¡°Alicia! What happened? Did you kill it?¡± ¡°No I tried to escape and was eaten alive¡± I heard an audible gasp on the other side of the phone ¡°are you ok? I thought my death was bad. It felt like the manticore still had its paw in my chest for the next 15 minutes after getting out. I can only imagine what you must have felt.¡± ¡°It was pretty painful. At least I¡¯m sort of used to dying already from the beta.¡± ¡°Yeah there''s that¡± I proceeded to talk to Vanessa until midnight when we decided to meet up at the train station to go shopping tomorrow since we can¡¯t log in until late in the afternoon. I went to sleep psyching myself up to see Vanessa again since I hadn¡¯t seen her in person since we graduated. I left the house in the morning after eating breakfast and walked to the train station. Both Vanessa and I live a five minute walk from the train station in opposite directions so it serves as the ideal place to meet up. ¡°Nessa!¡± I shouted as I saw her ¡°Alicia!¡± she replied just as enthusiastic and we charged at each other. We collided with one another and fell into an embrace. ¡°How are you feeling today?¡± I asked ¡°Much better now that I get to hug my cute little Ali¡± she teased. We proceeded to gossip. Most of what we talked about was our adventurers in Wing¡¯s to Tomorrow and what we wanted to do in it. We got off the train at the city centre and went to the shopping mall district to browse the various shops. At lunch time we found a patisserie and found a table to eat. We ate so much cake that we felt sick. Whilst we were at the patisserie, Vanessa asked ¡°what are you going to do about uni? Enrolments opened today you know.¡± ¡°I¡¯m not too sure, I want to do something beneficial to help me work at Genesis with my dad. Maybe business or management, maybe even accounting.¡± ¡°Why don¡¯t you do business with me? We can always change our major in second year if it¡¯s not good enough.¡± Vanessa suggested. ¡°Hmmm, maybe I will.¡± I replied We continued walking around the city for another two hours. Well Vanessa walked, I was dragged into clothing stores only to find myself being attacked by Vanessa forcing me to try on dresses like some kind of doll. Finally, time was running out and we would be able to log in soon so we decided to call it a day and head home. When I got home I logged on my computer and filled in an enrolment to do business at all the local universities before undressing and crawling back into my pod to return to my life as Elyssa in Arendula. I appeared in Heaton next to the cities hearth. Because I left the city for the mines, I was no longer under Hestia¡¯s protection and therefore I made my prayer to her.
you have received the protection of Hestia
until you leave the city you will be under the protection of Hestia as a friend of the city
Deciding that I died from being too weak I headed to the information guild. Entering the adventurer¡¯s guild I went to the reception and asked if they knew of a method to get stronger. ¡°Enter this room, the man within will check your potential and recommend on what you should do¡± the receptionist said pointing to a door behind her. I entered the door and saw an old bald man wearing a brown hooded cloak. ¡°Welcome child, how can I be of service?¡± ¡°I wish to know how to become stronger.¡± ¡°Then I will need to judge your potential. Show me your stats.¡± the man requested. ¡°Show status window.¡± *triiing*

¡°Interesting you have a high intelligence and wisdom stat yet no class for it, and what''s more you have access to the fabled dual class¡± the old man said examining my stats. ¡°Yes those are remnants of a past life¡± I explained. ¡°I suggest you learn to strengthen yourself.¡± the man says before pulling out a sheet of paper and writing on it. He encloses the letter in an envelope and drips wax on it to seal it before pressing a stamp on it to mark it as a letter from the information guild. ¡°Here, take this letter to Maxwell at the enchanter¡¯s guild, he should be able to help you.¡± the man says before handing me the envelope. ¡°Thank you sir¡± I say before leaving and heading to the enchanter¡¯s guild. The enchanter¡¯s guild is a small one story building with flowers and other herbs growing out front and an arched door out front. I enter the building and see¡ well i sort of see since it¡¯s so dark inside with the curtains closed. In the back corner of the room is a bright red glow from some sort of contraption, other than that all I see is tables with piles of paper and strange instruments covering them. ¡°Hello?¡± I call out. ¡°Over here¡± a deep masculine voice calls out from the direction of the red glow. Carefully I make my way towards the voice and find a wiry old man wearing a purple hooded cloak looking at some sort of chemistry set. The set has many flasks and beakers connected by tubes leading to one point where a beaker is filled with a glowing red liquid. ¡°How may I help you miss?¡± asks the old man staring at the area around my stomach.
Charm +1[tds][tr] [table] ¡°Um, up here?¡± I say causing the man to look me in the eyes. I hand over the envelope and he lights a candle next to him before opening and reading the contents. ¡°I see, so you want to learn how to strengthen your blade?¡± he finally answers after folding the letter. ¡°Yes please¡± ¡°In that case you will first need to learn the basics of enchanting.¡± *triiing* [table] [tr][tds] You have unlocked class: Enchanter
An enchanter can imbue an object with the life force of a reagent. Do you accept the class Enchanter?
¡°I uh, ok I accept¡± I said. In Wing¡¯s to Tomorrow you are able to forget a class at the cost of all its skills. With this idea in mind, I decided to trial the class to see if it would actually make me stronger. The man begin to explain the basics of enchanting. To enchant an item you must either grab parts from a creature such as bones, fangs, blood and claws or seal the life force of a creature in what¡¯s called a life orb. Some enchantments can come from particular herbs or plants. When you have the parts you must individually process them by crushing them with a mortar and pestle into a paste. You then must place the various pastes into flasks which go into the chemistry set I saw earlier. The chemistry set mixes the materials into a solution which is the material used for enchanting. This step can be skipped if you have a life orb. By inserting mana into the materials and placing it over the object you wish to enchant, various effects are added. Most enchantments are only temporary and wear off however, some rare enchantments can be made permanent if an enchanter reaches at least intermediate.

Turns out it is harder to write real life than I thought it would be. Chapter 12: Class Upgrade I spent four days practicing my enchanting with Maxwell. it turns out he is some kind of pervert because every now and then when my back was turned my charm stat grew. as I turned around I could see him staring at me. Maxwell came up to me and said ¡°good you have learnt the basics of how to enchant, now I can finally teach you the next step.¡± *triiing*
class upgrade: Sword enchanter
A sword enchanter specialises in adding elemental properties to their swords during battles.
do you accept?
Surprised that I was offered a job upgrade I immediately accepted. Usually to get a job upgrade, you must reach level 100 and have intermediate in its main skill. I heard rumours of further upgrades from NPC¡¯s during the beta but, I never managed to find one. ¡°Good, I only know of two enchantments which I can teach you. The first is fire enchantment which will enchant your sword with fire. In order to create the enchantment you must use fireweed. Lucky for you I have some outside.¡± I proceeded to go outside and pick some of the red fireweed which was out front of the house. ¡°First hold the herb in your left hand against the blade closest to the hilt. Then let your mana flow from the herb into your blade.¡± I did as told and a huge bright red flame erupted off my blade completely covering it. *triiing*
Skill unlocked: Fire Blade Enchantment
using fireweed, you can enchant a blade with the elemental properties of fire. flames can give a powerful burning effect. Duration: 10 minutes Mana cost:200
¡°Good now in order to stop the flames, place you hand on the blade nearest the hilt, and absorb the mana.¡± I did as he said and the blades flame died out. Even though I absorbed the mana, it did not return to my mana pool. It seems instead it floated out back into nature. ¡°Now the second enchantment I want to teach you is the wind enchantment. Wind enchantment works the same as fire except, you need to use windweed. Wind week I have out back in the pond.¡± Maxwell said sending me out back to collect some. wind weed is a type of seaweed which grows in shallow ponds, I grabbed a small handful and repeated the same steps i used to make fire. *triiing*
Skill unlocked: Wind Blade Enchantment
using windweed, you can enchant a blade with the elemental properties of wind. Wind causes a blade to become shaper allowing it to cut through more surfaces. Duration: 10 minutes Mana cost:200
My blade covered with barely visible wisps of wind. In order to try it I struck the blade at a nearby rock. My blade pierced straight into the rock as if it were butter. Immediately I regretted testing it on a rock because it got stuck. After 10 minutes when the wind died out I finally pulled the blade free landing on my butt. ¡°Took you long enough¡± Maxwell commented smiling at my misfortune. ¡°Ok time for you to practice your enchantments.¡±
Quest received: Collect Achlis life orbs
Maxwell needs Achlis life orbs for his enchantments. You have been tasked to go out and bring back 100 of them. Requirement: Sword enchanter Difficulty: E Reward: unknown You cannot reject this quest
Unauthorized duplication: this narrative has been taken without consent. Report sightings. ¡°Ok where can I find Achlis, and more to the point what are they?¡± ¡°Oh there¡¯s heaps of them in the forest, they look like some sort of elk. You will know when you see them.¡± I left with a few handfuls of both kinds of weed and entered the forest. Maxwell was right, I noticed the achlis immediately. I have never seen such a strange creature. The creature looked like and elk except it was eating upside-down. It had a huge upper lip which hung down covering its vision. If it were to try eating any other way than upside down, it would not be able to open its mouth since its lip would fall covering its mouth. I walked up to the achlis and unsheathed my rapier. The achlis immediately ran away. I attempted to approach achlis several times to no avail. Finally I got closer. I snuck up behind a tree. On the other side was an achlis grazing. I quickly turned around and struck at the achlis with a lunge but, I missed and the achlis ran away. I continued trying the same tactic, keeping a tree between me and an achlis and then darting out at the last second. Finally after half a day had passed I gave p resting against a tree. And achlis grazed close to a tree for a while. I took this chance to enchant my blade with wind and I struck out at the achlis head. My strike went directly at the tree, passed through and hit the achlis square in the head.
Fatal hit
I went to the achlis corpse and used life entrapment.

I spent the next day killing achlis and collecting their orbs. As I was returning to Maxwell to hand in the orb, a blade appeared in front of my neck for a split second. The second after the blade was dropped and I heard a scream of agony. I turned around quickly and on the ground clutching his heart was Ryan. Ryan started disappearing in a cloud of grey dust. *triiing*
you have been protected by Hestia
Feeling relieved that I religiously prayed to Hestia at the town¡¯s hearth upon entering a city, I returned to Maxwell.
Quest complete: Collect Achlis life orbs
you have brought back the Achlis life orbs Maxwell requested of you. Reward: 100 windweed 100 fireweed
¡°Good work¡± Maxwell said I spent the remainder of my death penalty with Maxwell strengthening my enchanting skill. When the death penalty ended, Rosetta contacted the party through party chat and ordered us to meet at the mine. Not wanting to disappoint my best friend, I quickly bought food supplies, and left to meet up at the mine.

well I wasn''t going to write anymore tonight since it''s now 2:30am but, thanks to the request for more, here is a bonus chapter albeit a short one. I bought in a new monster for this one, tell me what you think of it. next chapter, the manticore is back! I want to start naming the chapters but, my mind comes up blank. if you have any ideas for chapters, post their names in the appropriate chapter. Chapter 13: Take Two Arriving at the mine, I came to see that everyone had already beat me there. Kairen had a new doru made from bronze rather than wood. Other than the spear the only other difference was that everyone seemed stronger, more confident. ¡°You¡¯re late!¡± Rosetta complained. ¡°Sorry I needed to buy some supplies. Everyone seem stronger.¡± I said quickly changing the subject. ¡°Yeah we have all been training separately although, they won''t tell me what kind of training.¡± Rosetta replied glaring at Kairen. ¡°Well now that we¡¯re all here, let¡¯s go kill that manticore¡± Rosetta said cheerily. We entered the mine to find that all the scorpions had respawned forcing us to kill them all again. I activated wind enchantment on my blade wanting to test its effect and pierced straight through the scorpion¡¯s carapace. Zach had similar ideas and used a new spell. ¡°Lightning blade¡± he called A thin bolt of lightning in the shape of a boomerang flew out from his hand and rotated end over end until it struck the scorpion, cleaving it in half and turning it into grey dust. I quickly casted my life entrapment in order to gain enchanting reagents.
you have received a scorpion life orb
a reagent used for enchanting Weapons: adds poison chance to attacks Armour: adds 10% poison resistance
We all shuddered at the destructive force of Zach¡¯s new spell. ¡°I don¡¯t want to be on the receiving end of that.¡± Kairen commented. ¡°I didn¡¯t think it would completely kill it in one hit!¡± Zach commented completely shocked. ¡°I guess we will reach the manticore much faster this time¡± Rosetta added. Just as Rosetta said, we cleared through the mines much faster being able to fatal hit with Zach¡¯s spell, or eventually my own thrusts when imbued with wind magic if I hit the heart. I amassed a large collection of scorpion life orbs, although we didn¡¯t use any since nobody was getting hit and the scorpions are immune to their own venom. When we came up to the humanoid scorpions we tried Zach¡¯s spell but, it wasn¡¯t as effective. It still did considerable damage but, the armour on the humanoid scorpions was stronger so it wasn¡¯t cleaved in half. With my wind enchanted blade, I could strike through the tail in a single hit detaching it and taking away its most deadly weapon making the battle easier. Kairen had to tank the scorpion whilst Zach and I whittled down its health until it disappeared. Using soul entrapment I got a different type of orb.

We continued through the mines until we reached the manticore¡¯s room. all in all it took us two days to reach the manticore and we gained three levels each in the process, although Zach gained four since he made most of the killing blows. I gained two levels on my life entrapment, and one level on wind blade. ¡°Finally my turn¡± Kairen stated being bored with the previous fights. ¡°Wait just a second before we enter, I have some blessing now.¡± Rosetta claimed. ¡°Blessing of Power¡± she cast causing our strength stats to rise by 15. ¡°Blessing of Speed¡± Our movement speed increased by 5% Whilst Rosetta was blessing us individually, I began enchanting the parties armour. I pulled out three scorpion leader life orbs, and two scorpion life orbs and held them in my left hand. The scorpion orbs were about the size of a small marble with the scorpion leader orbs being slightly larger. Both kinds of orbs were pitch black. I added my mana into the orbs and touched the armour of Kairen to enchant it temporarily. The enchantment lasted for 10 hours. I proceeded to repeat the enchantments for the rest of the party to help give us some protection against the spikes of the manticore. ¡°Ok let¡¯s win this!¡± Rosetta shouted. ¡°ORAAAAHHH¡± we screamed in unison. ¡°Humans! Just as I was getting hungry too¡± the manticore claimed standing up and bearing its three rows of teeth. ¡°That¡¯s a lot of teeth¡± Zach commented. A group of scorpion¡¯s and scorpion leader¡¯s as I found out their real names appeared and blocked the entrance so that we couldn¡¯t escape. The Manticore shifted its weight onto its rear legs and launched itself towards Rosetta. Kairen let out a shout ¡°I stand my ground!¡± As he shouted he lowered the back of his spear into the ground and pointed the tip on an angle towards the manticore. The manticore hearing the taunt changed direction mid lunged and targeted Kairen. As the manticore hit the doru, Kairen placed all of his weight into it in order to not be pushed back. The Spear impaled the manticore straight through its shoulder two metres into its body and lodged there. A spurt of blood began pouring from the wound and one metres length of the spear butt stuck out from the shoulder. The manticore screamed in agony and backed away. This content has been misappropriated from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere. Kairen drew his sword and charged at the manticore keeping as close as he could in order to prevent the manticore from charging. Zach and I leapt into action. I began my dance of the dragon. Normally boss type creatures are immune to fear but, when they have sustained a major would like the manticore had from Kairen¡¯s doru, they were more susceptible to it. Zach started launching lightning blades at the manticore causing shallow cuts in the manticore making small amounts of blood to pool on its crimson red fur. Rosetta cast healing spells on Kairen in order to keep him alive since he was constantly being injured from the blunt trauma inflicted through the impacts of the manticore¡¯s claws against his shield. Kairen repetitive stabbed at the manticore¡¯s face and shoulder to slowly chip away at its health. Thanks to the doru stuck inside the manticore, the manticore¡¯s movement was hindered. I enchanted my rapier with wind and started stabbing at the manticore¡¯s body. Everything seemed to be going well for the first 40 minutes of battle until the manticore began using its tail. The tail shot spears all around the room occasionally hitting Rosetta and Zach. Thanks to my enchantments, most of the time the hit¡¯s didn¡¯t paralyse or poison but, occasionally the worked. The manticore¡¯s fur started glowing a deep shade of red and our attacks stopped having any noticeable effect. The manticore¡¯s wounds had begun sealing up and a black tar began covering its tail. I changed my enchantments to fire enchantment aiming at the tar on its tail. Immediately everything went white and we were thrown back off the manticore. The air was filled with deafening screams causing us to feel dizzy and nauseous. The manticore¡¯s tail was on fire and began melting. The flames on the tail were white and the heat we could feel was almost unbearable. Our health started declining rapidly from the heat in the room and Rosetta had to constantly heal us until finally, the flames died out and the manticore¡¯s tail was no more. ¡°I¡¯m out of mana¡± Rosetta exclaimed. ¡°Me too¡± Zach added. ¡°Guess it¡¯s down to us¡± I said. Kairen and I charged at the manticore. Kairen hit first with his shield ramming the doru further into the manticore. The manticore fell on the ground giving me time to run up behind the manticore and strike a series of repetitive blows in its rear end right where the tail used to connect. The manticore rolled around unable to stand or move. Kairen and I wailed down blows on the manticore for five more minutes before finally the manticore disappeared in a cloud of grey dust. Leaving behind 4 golden coins. I used my life entrapment skill on the manticore.

Somehow i''m a bit dissappointed with how this chapter turned out. if anyone has any suggestions to improve it I would appreciate it. Chapter 14: To Araluen Leaving the adventurer¡¯s guild, a tall lanky man with a satchel ran down the streets towards us shouting ¡°Rosetta!¡± When the man caught up to us he pulled out an envelope and handed it to Rosetta. The envelope was sealed with some form of wax that glowed the various colours of the rainbow. On the wax was an imprint of Hecate¡¯s seal. Rosetta opened the envelope to find a letter inside. After reading the letter she started to explain to us what it contained. ¡°I have to travel to Araluen, it¡¯s a small farm village to the north. Persephone is its patron goddess. I need to reach Araluen within a month and a half in order to help prepare for Persephone¡¯s arrival.¡± ¡°But, winter has only just begun.¡± Zach commented. ¡°Yes apparently Demeter pulled some strings and found a way for Persephone to leave the underworld early. It should take me a month to reach Araluen, leaving me two weeks to prepare.¡± ¡°You mean us¡± I replied. ¡°Really? You will come with me¡± Rosetta said before tackling me into an embrace and rubbing her cheek against mine. ¡°Of course, I don¡¯t have anything left to do in this city so I¡¯m free to go anywhere.¡± I replied ¡°What about you two?¡± Rosetta queried looking at Zach and Kairen. ¡°If I must¡± Kairen replied ¡°It would be easier to travel in a group. I will accompany you.¡± Zach stated We made our preparations to leave for Araluen and met up at the north gate. Our first few days were completely uneventful. We didn¡¯t run into a single aggressive monster although we did pass the occasional merchant on the road. On the third day, Kairen heard movement in the trees and charged into the nearby wood searching for the source of the sound. The rest of us seeing Kairen disappear ran after him. When we found Kairen he had his doru raised and pointed at a beautiful young lady. ¡°Kairen stop!¡± I screamed. ¡°Why? She threw a rock at me¡± he replied glaring. ¡°She is a Nymph, a nature spirit. You could get punished if a god has their eyes on her.¡± I replied. ¡°But she attacked me¡± Kairen complained lowering his spear. ¡°Thank you young hero¡± the nymph said to me. ¡°I wouldn¡¯t normally spy on you except my tree is poisoned and I need some help¡± The nymph came out of the shadows of the trees and showed herself. She was a beautiful young woman who appeared 18 years of age. Her hair was long and brown waving its way down to the small of her back. Her eyes were brown and ashen, the colour of the oak tree behind her. ¡°Are you a dryad?¡± I asked ¡°Yes my name is Meriette, I am a hamadryade.¡± ¡°Hello Meriette, my name is Elyssa. Tell me what is wrong with your tree and how can we help.¡± ¡°My tree has been poisoned, it is old and cannot survive even if the poison is removed. I need some help being bound to a new tree.¡±
Quest Received: Help Meriette
Meriette¡¯s tree has been poisoned, she has asked you to help move her to a new tree. Difficulty: E Reward: unknown Failure: Meriette dies
do you accept?
¡°We accept¡± I said on behalf of our party. Thankfully I had done a similar quest in the beta, this means I could skip the part where you find out how to save the dryad. It turns out that there is no way to bind a dryad to a new tree without the power of a god such as pan. Instead all you need to do is take a cutting of the tree which is untainted and plant it anew so that it can grow into a new tree. The dryad can transfer itself to any part of its tree. Knowing of how to complete the quest I climbed the tree. Climbing was hard because the tree was brittle and dying. Near the top of the tree I found a small twig with a few green leaves on it. I carefully cut the twig making sure to make the cute clean and climbed down. After getting the twig I told Meriette to bind herself to it and we searched for a place to plant it. Deep in the forest was a lake which many hinds were using as a source of water. The lake water was still and a deep blue showing that it was clean and fresh. We searched along the lake and found a suitable spot to plant the cutting so that when it grew, it would overlook the lake. Mariette was overjoyed that she had such a beautiful place to call home.
Quest complete: Help Meriette
You have overcome the poison on Meriette¡¯s tree by planting a part of it to grow anew. Reward: title: Friend of the Nymphs
new title: Friend of the nymphs
You have befriended the nymphs and they now treat you as one of them. Nymphs will treat you as a friend Charm + 5
¡°Thank you heroes, if you ever need help just call out to the nymphs and we will come to your aid. I have something extra for you Elyssa.¡± Meriette said handing me over a small ring.
Meriette¡¯s ring
Meriette created this ring for Elyssa to show the creatures of the forest that she is a friend. Stats in untainted forests +5%
The ring was woven out of brown vines with no extra adornments. As I placed it on my finger, it changed shape to fit perfectly on my finger, the vines curling around and a single white flower appeared on the top of the ring. ¡°It¡¯s beautiful Meriette, thank you.¡± We stopped and chatted with Meriette for a couple of hours before bidding our farewells and returning on our journey. Due to our detour with Meriette, we decided to try running as much as we could on the path since no aggressive monsters were around. After 2 weeks of travelling, we discovered a cave. Since our running had put us ahead of schedule and we were only 1 week out from Araluen, we decided to explore the cave.
You have discovered an Ice Cave
You are the first ones to discover this cave. Luck+2 Fame + 50
We entered the cave and felt the chill of ice from within and a cold breeze seeped into our skin, chilling us to the bones. ¡°It¡¯s freezing in here¡± Rosetta complained. ¡°I¡¯m sure you will get used to it.¡± I said before enchanting my sword with fire to warm up the area around us.¡± ¡°That¡¯s a handy trick¡± Zach said shuffling closer to me and the flame. ¡°It¡¯s a shame you¡¯re not a fire mage¡± I commented back. The author''s content has been appropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon. We made our way deeper into the cave. The first creature we found was a Polar bear cub. It had a white glossy coat. The coat looked very warm and that bear was adorable. ¡°Kyaa I want one¡± Rosetta shouted. Rosetta¡¯s shout immediately warned the bear cub of our presence and it started growling at us. Kairen prepared his shield and spear in case of an attack. ¡°No Kairen, it¡¯s too cute to kill¡± Rosetta yelled. ¡°But, that coat looks so warm¡± Kairen said eyeing the cub greedily. The cub growled once more before charging at Kairen. Kairen rammed the cub with his shield causing a resounding clang to be heard throughout the cave. The icicles on the cave roof started shaking threatening to fall. The cub having been blocked shook its head after being stunned only to be stabbed in its hind quarters by Kairen¡¯s shield. ¡°You jerk!¡± Rosetta shouted, ¡°I told you not to attack it.¡± ¡°He attacked me first¡± Kairen growled. ¡°Too late now¡± Zach sad firing a bolt of lightning at the bear cub. I snapped out of my stupor and ran up to the cub starting my dance of the fairy making lots of shallow strikes into the cub. Kairen finished the cub off with his spear causing it to turn to grey. I followed up with my life entrapment gaining an orb from the cub.
you have received: Polar bear cub life orb
a reagent used in enchanting Armour: provides insulation against cold weather.
Taking the orb I immediately started enchanting my own armour which made me feel slightly warmer, although the effects would only last 10 hours. Kairen started looking at the loot. A pelt was dropped and he picked it up thinking he could wrap it around himself to stay warmer. On a closer inspection, the pelt was riddled with holes from where my blade pierced the cub. ¡°What!¡± he shouted. ¡°You destroyed it.¡± he continued looking at me angrily. Rosette was bright red with anger. ¡°How could you kill something so cute? I¡¯m staying right here¡± she said sitting down. ¡°Suit yourself¡± Kairen said and the three of us walked deeper into the cave leaving Rosetta. ¡°Wait, its cold. Stay with me Eli?¡± she pleaded ¡°No I¡¯m inclined to continue¡± I replied. ¡°Fine you win¡± Rosetta surrendered following us. We made our way through the cave fighting bear cubs for a while carefully waiting for the mother to appear. We finally ran into a room with 3 full grown polar bears. The bears growled so loud upon seeing us that the icicles started being dislodged from the cave ceiling falling all around us. I immediately started my dance of the sylph to help us dodge the falling crystals. Kairen ran at the bears shouting to call them towards him. The bears looked at Kairen and started charging at him. Bear number one was the biggest of the three bears and each strike against Kairen¡¯s shield pushed him back a bit, bears two and three were smaller but, he could hold his ground against them. Every time his shield was his a loud clang resounded dislodging more icicles. The area around us was dangerous and we spent a lot of time dodging icicles. Rosetta and Zach were unable to stand still and concentrate long enough to cast spells so it came down to me and Kairen. I moved up behind the bears and started fighting. I thrust my sword repeatedly at the larger of the bears barely piercing it¡¯ skin. I had no choice but to switch to wind enchant which wasn¡¯t much more help. My blows were weak barely grazing the bear. ¡°Come protect me so I can attack¡± Zach called out seeing that I wasn¡¯t dealing much damage. I ran over to Zach and changed my enchantment to fire. I struck any icicles that were falling near Zach melting them away with the flames on my blade. Zach continued chanting as began throwing blades of lightning at the larger bear. The larger bear roared in pain and began ignoring Kairen and charged at me and Zach. When the bear got closer I began praying it by knocking its paws away just before they impacted me. By changing the direction of the attacks, it didn¡¯t push me back but, it caused the bear to miss us by a hair¡¯s breadth. Zach continued casting lightning blades at the bear causing heavy damage but then, the larger bear launched its whole weight on my pinning me to the ground. I took heavy damage which Rosetta started to heal right away, but I was too dizzy to see straight. Just as the bear¡¯s teeth leaned down closer to me trying to bite me to finish me off, the bear disappeared in a cloud of grey dust. ¡°Thanks Zach¡± I moaned. I still couldn¡¯t see straight and merely heard yelling until I blacked out. When I woke up, I saw Rosetta leaning over me holding me in her arms. ¡°I was so worried, you didn¡¯t wake up for two hours!¡± she sobbed. ¡°Its ok, I just took a heavy blow to the head. I should be ok now.¡± I responded with a smile. I looked around and noticed I was in a room with glowing blue flowers all around me. I picked one of the flowers and identified it.

¡°Awesome a new enchantment¡± I shouted. ¡°Turn it off!¡± all three of my party members yelled. I looked at my blade and saw a huge chunk of ice covering my blade with tendrils of ice cold smoke coming off it. Now that they mentioned to turn it off, I felt the freezing chill of my blade and immediately absorbed the enchantment. ¡°Don¡¯t do that again!¡± Kairen yelled at me. Feeling crestfallen I slowly gathered all of the icebloom in the cave before we left and continued our journey to Araluen. After another week of mostly running, we finally arrived at Araluen.

sorry, I wanted to release this yesterday but I was bed ridden with a Migrane. Travelling is hard to write without making it bering but, hopefully you are starting to get a better grasp on the other character''s personalties. I''m thinking Vanessa may be my favourite since she is so easy to write for. Chapter 15: Bounty Hunting Araluen was an open village with no castle. The buildings were made of mud brick and straw thatched roofs. There were fields everywhere, currently there was a lack of crops because it was still winter although it was obvious that the area usually grows primarily wheat. Towards the east side of the village there were orchards of trees growing various types of fruits. Running through the centre of the village was a series of small winding rivers which met together near the centre of the village. At the city centre was a circle of the main buildings of town such as a blacksmith, tailor, general store, and an inn. Slightly up a hill was a house larger than the others which was the elder¡¯s house, and down the hill was a large warehouse and granary to store the produce grown in the village. Along the main river was a large water mill which was presumably to mill the wheat into flour. We made our way to the centre of the town greeted by all the farmers and village folk we passed. The centre of the village had a strong scent of freshly baked bread, the air was clean to breathe and the atmosphere was so relaxing that we began feeling sleepy. In the centre of the city, I stopped and prayed at the cities hearth. ¡°What are you doing?¡± asked Zach ¡°I¡¯m praying to Hestia to state that I¡¯m I friend of this city. If you don¡¯t do this when you visit a city, other players are able to kill you in town.¡± I explained Everyone hearing this immediately kneeled down next to me and began praying to Hestia.
You have received the protection of Hestia
Until you leave the city you will be under the protection of Hestia as a friend of the city
¡°I wish I knew this earlier.¡± Kairen said staring wide eyed at the message in front of him. ¡°Well I need to leave you all here, and help out around town. Why don¡¯t you see if you can find some work at the adventurer¡¯s guild?¡± Rosetta commented. ¡°Ok we will try that later, first I think we should split up and finish any errands we each have such as selling items, then meet up at the adventurer¡¯s guild.¡± I said As we were leaving, Rosetta ran up and hugged me tightly ¡°I¡¯ll miss my Eri bear¡± she said. ¡°I will miss you too¡± I commented stroking Rosetta¡¯s hair. I left to the general store to sell off all my loot from the bear cubs we fought in the ice cave, and went to the inn to relax for a while before heading the adventurer¡¯s guild. The adventurer¡¯s guild was a single storey building. The guild was completely empty except for Zach and a man in leather armour sitting talking at a table. The man was the person in charge of the adventurer¡¯s guild. On the right side of the building was a single board which was completely empty and on the left side was a board with five flyers attached to it. ¡°There¡¯s no adventurer quests available here, it seems they don¡¯t really do much except farm, and if you need help farming you post it at the elder¡¯s house.¡± Zach explained. ¡°Then what about that board over there¡± I said pointing to the board with flyers on it. Shrugging Zach replied ¡°bounties, it seems there are thieves in the area.¡± ¡°Yes we have a lot of thieves stealing and killing people for their food, all of them outsiders. If you are a bounty hunter you can take them and deal with them for us.¡± the man stated. ¡°What do we have to do to become bounty hunters?¡± I asked as Kairen walked in the door. ¡°It¡¯s simple, you just sign up the same way as you did for the adventurer¡¯s guild and receive a rank and reputation.¡± ¡°Ok we will sign up¡± Kairen said sitting down with the rest of us.
New job: Bounty Hunter
Rank: Red Reputation: F
¡°Unlike adventurer quests, you can receive as many bounties as you want at once. Many people can accept each bounty because we only give you a copy of the bounty. The first one to complete the bounty is rewarded. If you return to a guild, you can check if any of your bounties have been completed by another party although, that¡¯s probably not going to happen around here. Normally bounties have reputation and rank requirements however, since we are somewhat isolated, we set all ours to the minimum requirements since we can¡¯t be too picky.¡± the man explained. We asked the man if we could receive a copy of all five bounties and his face lit up.

Support the creativity of authors by visiting Royal Road for this novel and more. ¡°Do you have any information on any of them?¡± Zach asked. ¡°Yes, Terreria has been trying to smuggle weapons into the town via the rivers. The thieves guild is said to be in the forest out west of the village. Melanie killed the elder¡¯s daughter and ran off somewhere to the east, we don¡¯t know where exactly.¡± the man answered. I guess we should start with the smuggler then¡± Zach said. We went to the rivers and asked around at the mill for Terreria. The Miller told us that Terreria usually came into the city by the north river at night and left as quickly as he came. We thanked the miller and went to the general store to buy some rope before following the river to the north. The river north wound up into the mountains, flowing gently through a forest. Deep in the forest we found a boat tied up to a tree. Thinking this the place and it being nearly nightfall, we decided to hide nearby with a clear view of the boat. Once night finally fell, a short stocky man came out of the shadows dragging a heavy bag behind him. He had short brown hair, a scar on his left cheek, and steel plate mail armour covering his body. He was a dwarf. We slowly made our way around behind the dwarf and whispered ¡°Terreria?¡± The dwarf looked around and said ¡°yes?¡± followed by ¡°Who goes there.¡± Using his reply as a confirmation, I leapt out of the bush and raised my rapier dancing my dance of the dragon. Zach shot a paralysis bolt at the dwarf, and Kairen smashed his shield into the back of the paralysed dwarf knocking him unconscious. We proceeded to bind him up with the rope we bought and placed him in the boat before sailing back down the river towards the guild. We left the dwarf with the guild collecting our silver before heading to the inn to relax. Whilst in the inn eating a steak, potatoes, and peas, we heard a deafening female scream. Immediately we ran outside and looked to the direction of the scream where a man was laying on the ground in a pool of blood and a woman was crying over her body. To the East we saw a thin woman running away into the darkness. ¡°Think it could be our murderer?¡± Kairen asked. ¡°Most likely¡± Zach said. ¡°Then what are we waiting for?¡± I said. We began sprinting down the streets and through the fields in the direction that the woman ran. The woman ran into a forest at the edge of the village, we continued running hoping to find a trace of her when finally in the distance we saw smoke. We slowed down and headed in the direction of the smoke. When we reached the smoke, we saw a small thatch cottage with smoke coming out of its chimney. We walked up to the house and peered in the windows. What we saw was a young girl of about 15 years of age with a bloody dagger on a table next to her removing her blood soaked clothes. The girl had long waist length blonde hair covered with blood, lifeless grey eyes, and elf ears. Her body was riddled with scars from the impact of a whip, and her skin was covered in dried blood and dirt. ¡°Do we really have to kill her?¡± I asked crying looking at the frail girl in front of me. ¡°I¡¯m afraid so, she is a murderer after all.¡± Zach replied. ¡°But, can¡¯t we just talk to her and ask her to stop?¡± I asked. ¡°Be my guest but, when she attacks you, don¡¯t come crying to me.¡± Kairen said. I walked to the front door and knocked. ¡°Who¡¯s there?¡± the girl asked with a trembling voice. ¡°I¡¯m Elyssa, I want to talk to you¡± ¡°Like I believe that!¡± the girl shouted. The girl flung the door open and charged at me with a dagger. I was so unprepared that she stabbed me right in the hip causing a gush of blood to escape from me. ¡°Please, I don¡¯t want to hurt you.¡± I said whimpering in pain. The girl¡¯s lifeless eyes lowered as she stared at me. ¡°Why don¡¯t you put some clothes on first and we can talk.¡± The girl walked inside, and came back out with a short grey dress. Meanwhile I had bandaged my injury and my health was slowly regenerating. ¡°What do you want?¡± the girl demanded. ¡°I want to know why you are killing the people in the village.¡± The girl told me a storey of how she came to this village when she was young. When she grew to be 12 years old and started going through puberty, she was kidnapped. She was taken by a group of people out the west side of the village where she was raped and whipped daily. She fell pregnant twice and the children were killed. When she turned fifteen, she fell pregnant once more and with the aid of the village elder¡¯s daughter she escaped here into the woods. Whilst she was escaping, the village elder¡¯s daughter was killed by the man she stabbed today in revenge for taking the life of her saviour. When the girl finished her tale, I held her in my arms and we both sobbed uncontrollably. At that point I decided to leave the girl alone as long as she promised not to kill anyone else. The girl called herself Melanie and because of this I cancelled the bounty to kill her. She told me of where the thieves hid, and I started heading towards it to be followed by Zach and Kairen with eyes filled with rage. *triing*

tell me what you think of this chapter. *blatant plug for reviews* I have ratings but, those don''t really tell me where to improve. a review or tow would be nice :D Chapter 16: Elyssas Rage We charged into the western forest leaving behind a stream of deep purple light behind us. As we walked around the forest, a stray arrow came past and was deflected off Kairen¡¯s shield. Zach immediately cast lightning blade severing the trunk of the tree the archer was in knocking him the ground. I ran up to the archer and stabbed him in the crotch causing Zach and Kairen to wince in pain. ¡°Where is the hideout?¡± I demanded ¡°I don¡¯t know what you are talking about.¡± the archer replied. I withdrew my blade making the archer scream and stabbed him in the knee. Demanding again where the hideout was. Still refusing to answer I moved my blade towards his face. ¡°You can tell me now, or I can cut out your eyeballs.¡± I said emotionlessly. ¡°It¡¯s over that way¡± he said sobbing with his body wracked with pain. I slice my sword directly into his heart finishing him off and we ran in the direction he pointed. On the way we encountered three more archers which we dispatched by Zach cutting them down and me finishing them off with fatal blows. None of us said a word as we made our way to the thieves¡¯ hideout. The thieves¡¯ hideout had a wooden palisade wall with men patrolling it. At the front was a single gate, and within were several tents, and a single mud brick thatched building. In the centre was a huge bonfire and around it were many people drinking and laughing. I enchanted my sword with fire, and I charged at the rear of the wall slicing and setting parts of it on fire, I continued stabbing parts of the wall at approximately 1 metre intervals whilst Zach paralysed any men that were patrolling. Once the fire finally took, shouts could be heard from within. Kairen charged and rammed the burning wall breaking the weakened sections and giving us an entry into the camp. Zach climbed up the eastern wall and began taking out patrols. Kairen drew his sword and began taking out the men who came to the hole. I ran up to Kairen and enchanted his blade with icebloom causing it to freeze and intimidate the thieves. After Kairen¡¯s blade was enchanted, I jumped into the dance of the dragon. With wild stabs I slowly injured the thieves. I was too angry to accurately hit the thieves, and in most cases I purposely struck in a non-fatal point just to see them bleed and scream in pain. thieves kept running at us pushing us back, occasionally there would be a glow of yellow where Zach shot with his static spell staggering the group in front of us. Kairen began hacking off limbs causing the wounds to immediately frost over and then bashing the iced area with his shield shattering part of the affected thieves¡¯ bodies. As the thieves began pushing towards me, Kairen struck out at the thief which was attacking me and our swords collided. The ice from his blade, and the fire from my blade were such extreme opposites that it caused some of the ice on his weapon to superheat exploding in front of us. Everyone in the area was sent flying back. I was pierced in the back by some of the debris from the wooden palisade but, got up immediately not feeling any pain due to a combination of the adrenaline and rage that I felt. Immediately coming back and a stream of blood coming from me intimidated the thieves and caused most of them to run away in fear towards the main building. The sky was set alight by white blades of lightning coming from Zach¡¯s direction. He began casting them faster than I have ever seen before. Later he told me it was an effect from Lyssa¡¯s blessing. I resumed my dance of the dragon and together with Kairen we took out the group who remained. The area was rife with blood. Both Kairen and I were completely immersed with blood, as we made our way to the main building where Zach met us. Entering the building what we saw horrified us. TO the left of the room were cages of young girls aged between 12 and 18. They were all stripped naked covered with wounds from whips. To the right were young men shackled with chains their bodies also covered with marks from excessive beatings and whipping. I immediately charged to the girls on the left to try and free them. Kairen went to the right to cut the shackles tying chaining the men. Zach completely lost it and cast a spell I had never seen before. In an instant his aura started changing to gold and the roof disappeared with lightning striking all around the room. The room went into chaos. I took out three thieves in an instant, Kairen cut through the chains of the shackles releasing the men who took up blades from the fallen thieves. As I took the last thief on the left side of the room out I started unlocking the cages releasing the girls who cowered in the back of their cells refusing to come out. Completely filled with rage we annihilated all except the leader of the bandits. Zach paralysed the leader of the bandits, and I took a whip off the wall from near the girls cells and took it to the bandit slowly whipping him until finally he died in a cloud of grey smoke. As I looked around the room seeing that there were no more thieves in the vicinity, my adrenaline rush started abating and with it my rage. The aura that surrounded me disappeared and I started feeling a sharp pain in my back. I bandaged my wound before collapsing on the ground in a pool of blood. After resting for 15 minutes, we went to the woman pulling them out of the cells and draping blankets and furs over them. Zach went to get some water and started to administer it. I bandaged any injuries I could see and the men started helping Kairen look after the girls. After looking after the girls we took them back to the town to be reunited with their families if they had any. The remaining men and women were taken to the village elder to look after them. When we walked into the elder¡¯s house Rosetta was there. ¡°What the hell happened?¡± she asked seeing me covered in blood. Seeing Rosetta I finally broke down in a fit of tears in her arms. I began confiding in her the storey of what had happened whilst the elder was listening. I left the room with Rosetta to an inn with the elder¡¯s word that he would look after the victims of the thieves including Melanie. I spent the night with Rosetta being spoilt by her until I finally drifted off to sleep in her arms. The next morning I looked at the notifications I ignored to find that at some point I had killed both Ascone and Kirin as well as completed the quest to kill the thieves. Amongst other messages were several increases in endurance, and strength. I headed to the adventurer¡¯s guild to hand in the quests and receive the rewards. Overall, I received 2 gold, 4 silver and 250 fame. As I left the adventurer guild, people started to notice who I was because my fame had broken the 500 mark. Once someone''s fame goes above 500, people begin to notice you, it is common for people to know your name. Fame makes others friendlier towards you and make them more likely to trust you with a favour or request. Sometimes people may give you gifts depending on what you did for the fame. I made my way to the elder¡¯s house to meet with Rosetta offering to give her a hand in anything that she needed. For the next week and a half, I helped Rosetta preparing the city for Persephone¡¯s arrival setting up a huge festival in the town centre.

sorry it''s a bit darker than I originally planned but, the words just flowed so well that I left it as is, I have added the mature tag to the series as a result. extremely short chapter this time. next one should be longer. Chapter 17: Persephones Arrival The village had a complete makeover, there were tents set up in the village square with various different produce. Stalls were set up with games, barrels of wine were located all around the town with wooden tankards placed nearby so that people can easy get a drink. The village was bustling with merchants and travellers from other cities. The town inn completely booked out and some people had to set up tents in the outlying fields. The festival preparations were complete and it was only noon so people began to relax, lazing around on the fields or in the inn for an early drink. When night fall the village filled with life. People started drinking dancing and singing around the town hearth, children played games at the stalls. The atmosphere was friendly and exciting. All of a sudden the sound of bagpipes could be heard. Everyone looked in the direction that the sound came from and out of the forest came a herd of satyrs playing bagpipes, cymbals, castanets, and auloi. The music that the played was exciting and fast paced bringing with it a more festive feel. The satyrs came into dance and started dancing, playing music, and flirting with everyone. It is impossible to out drink a satyr, even the dwarves couldn¡¯t beat them in a drinking contest. Dionysus himself must have blessed them with an amazing tolerance for alcohol. Rosetta urged me to dance around the fire. Due to my attractiveness stat, and my embarrassing outfit I got the stares of many men and women as I danced. My dancing invited everyone else to dance with me and before long most of the town was dancing and drinking having a good time. I had to defend myself from the advances of many satyrs that night because for some reason the favoured me. My charm stat rose exponentially and Rosetta teased me at any chance she got causing me attractiveness stat to raise. Rosetta by the climax of the festival, Rosetta had many bruises and a red hand shaped mark on her cheek though she was still grinning childishly, party from the atmosphere and partly from alcohol intoxication. As soon as midnight came around, the sky was set ablaze by various spells from mages, and the next second, the town was filled with flowers. From the flames, a figure began to form. It was a beautiful woman, the most beautiful I had ever seen. She had long brown hair, yellow eyes and had a mysterious feel about her. She wore in her hair flowers, and had a dress naturally woven with flowers, and vines.
You are in the presence of Persephone
The whole town bowed at the sight of the goddess. ¡°You may rise¡± Persephone said. ¡°We have prepared an offering for you lady Persephone.¡± the elder said showing Persephone a huge pile of pomegranates. ¡°Thank you, and I will bless this city with fuller produce for it.¡± ¡°I wish I could bring good news but, it seems my husband is quite angry that I left early this year and wants to take me back by force. In three days, an army of the underworld will attack Araluen because of my selfishness. I wish I could stop him but, I must ask you to take up your arms and protect your city.¡± ¡°Lady Persephone, will protect you with our lives¡± The elder said Persephone chants rose out of the town square as the festival came to an end. *triiing*
Quest Received: Protect Persephone
Persephone has returned from the underworld early. Hades is upset and had sent an army from the underworld to bring her back. Help the people of Araluen protect their village and Persephone. Difficulty: unknown Rewards: unknown Failure: Persephone is captured This quest was issued by a goddess, you cannot reject it and if you run away you will be cursed by the goddess.
For the next three days, the city was busy preparing for the upcoming war. a palisade wall was built around the city and part of the forest was cleared to make a clear area to fight. People arrived from outlying villages and towns. Included in the arrivals were 2 full phalanges of 100 hoplites each, and various wagons of weapons and armour. Demeter and Apollo had set some of their disciples to help treat any wounded in the battle. Zeus had sent some mages to provide support for the city and a few warriors to be Persephone¡¯s last line of defence. The farmers had stockpiled food preparing for a siege, and then prepared for battle dressing in whatever armour and weaponry they had. All was quiet on the final day with tension filling the air awaiting the arrival of the underworld army. All of a sudden, the sky turned black and out of the forest on all sides were hellhounds. The hellhounds looked somewhat like dobermans except they had long red and black fur. The phalanges took the east and west sides of town, and the town villagers formed two phalanges, one to the north, and one to the south of the village. Mages manned the walls, and the disciples of Demeter and Apollo ran around the battlefield treating wounded. The satyrs took up to playing their instruments all around the edges of the village. The music was exciting and inspiring. It made one feel like they could do anything without tiring and provided the mages with an almost limitless supply of mana taken from the nature around it. Stolen story; please report. Our party of four ran to the south gate to fight back the hellhounds. Zach and Rosetta took up residence on the wall with Zach casting wide area spells and Rosetta healing soldiers and providing the occasional illusion. With the mana flowing into them from nature they could cast almost nonstop without worrying about running out of mana. Kairen and I ran up next to the phalanx. Kairen attached himself to the phalanx and help out his doru prepared to tackle any incoming hellhounds. I stood behind the phalanx and danced my dance of the warrior to increase the rate that the hoplite spears can stab. The first wave of hellhounds impacted the shields of the phalanx with some being impaled on the shields. The phalanx then proceeded to thrust their spears at any hellhounds in range. A few hellhounds ran passed the hellhounds. I danced my way over to the right of the phalanx near Kairen and started stabbing any nearby hellhounds. The mages on the wall began throwing lightning spells all over the area causing a huge number of casualties to the hellhounds. The battle continued for hours in that manner with only a small number of deaths to the phalanx. No hellhounds managed to make it to the walls without being fried by several bolts of lightning. All of a sudden from the forest came an ear piercing howl, and out of the forest came a new army of hellhounds. These hell hounds were different from the previous hellhounds. Where the previous hellhounds were only at most 1 metre tall, some of these new hellhounds reached up to 3 metres tall and 5 metres in length. Drool dripped out of their mouths and they brought with them the stench of dead carcasses. ¡°Those were just pups!¡± Kairen exclaimed. ¡°It seems like it, or I hope they are, if those are pups, we are all doomed.¡± I stated. ¡°Fight defensively¡± I shouted at Kairen. Kairen nodded and held his shield up out front preparing for impact. I stopped all my dancing and ran up to the phalanx enchanting their weapons with icebloom. Each blade was encased in ice with tendrils of smoke coming out of the phalanx. Enchanting such a large number of people at once caused my ice blade enchantment to level up twice and my enchanting skill to gain a level. My ice blade enchantment could now last up to 30 minutes. As the hellhounds collided with the phalanx several ice cubes were formed by the ice enchanted weapons. The sound of ice shattering could be heard everywhere. The hellhound cubs which were difficult before became weak fodder to the icy swords, and the larger hellhounds were hit by lightning from the mages sometimes knocking their feet out from under them due to the paralysis effect. Everything seemed to be going well until out from the forest, came an army of keres among the hellhounds. Keres are vengeful spirits, ghosts which seek revenge. The keres were not corporeal beings and thus our blades were useless against them. All we could do was defend against them hoping that a mage will take care of them. our casualty count started raising rapidly. Once we had lost just over a quarter of our phalanx, the sky lit up with tendrils of red mist.
You are in the presence of Ares
Immediately the morale of the phalanx improved and we began to fight back against the new army of keres and hellhounds. Our casualties reduced as more healers and mages arrived at the south wall bolstering our forces and reducing the enemy numbers. The battle lasted for 2 days will neither side giving an inch. The battlefield was covered in blood, people were getting tired and had to substitute with others. The wounded were piling up inside the walls of the city, and the northern wall had been breached at one point to be defended by Zeus¡¯s heroes. Our reinforcements had finally arrived, 8 fresh new fully trained phalanxes had arrived, and with them several adventurers of varying classes to help defend to village. We thought Nike was on our side until shrieks could be heard from the eastern wall. Immediately our party of four ran to the direction of the shrieks to see our worst nightmares. Flying above the battlefield were three old crones flying in the air on their bat wings. Hades had sent the Erinyes.

our first god manifested itself finally Thank you EcoJakk for the idea of a festival. I hope I did it justice. Chapter 18; Chaos The Erinyes flew around the battlefield lifting up solitary hoplites, and ripping them to shreds above the phalanges, causing showers of blood to cover the troops lowering their morale. The people unlucky enough to be chosen by the Erinyes were tortured slowly having their skin torn off, the eyes removed and their organs taken out one by one whilst they were still alive. The screams heard from those unlucky souls pierced right through you making you feel cold. When one of the Erinyes took the man standing near me, in could see its cold bloodshot eyes. Its hair was made from writhing snakes, and its face was dried and crinkled. The sight of it made me throw up causing the Erinyes to cackle harshly sending shivers down my spine. The lightning mages tried to shoot the Erinyes out of the skies with their lightning but, they could not connect to the insanely high levelled creatures. It appeared that the Erinyes weren¡¯t enough to satisfy Hades, because behind them came dracaena. These dracaena were green skinned female creatures with twin snake tails for legs. They held shields and bronze swords as the slithered their way towards our lines. One phalanx from each of the other three sides of the town made their way to the eastern wall to help fight against the dracaena, and most of our mages were brought to distract the Erinyes. it was impossible for our mages to hit the Erinyes so we had to settle for holding them off. The dracaena were smart and used the hellhounds as fodder to strike within the gaps of our defences. I ran around the battlefield enchanting blades with my three elemental enhancements. when most of the phalanx were elementally enchanted I started using life orbs from hellhounds which improved resistance to demons when used on shields thereby reducing the impact received from hellhounds. The battle even slightly however there was a huge number of casualties on both sides. Our army had dropped to half its reinforced size, and no new enemies were coming from the forest. The Erinyes were still flying around distracting our mages, and the dracaena were still killing indiscriminately. All of a sudden our side faltered. We felt a cold grip on our hearts. *triiing*
You are in the presence of Thanatos
If you die whilst in the presence of Thanatos, effects of death will be applied ten-fold.
A young man clad in black 4 metres tall appeared on the side of the battlefield. His black wings spanned 5 metres in length, and by his waist was a pure black sword sheathed in his belt. The once chaotic battlefield froze as they turned to look at him. ¡°It has been a while since enough death has occurred for me to manifest in person¡± Thanatos stated with a deep foreboding voice. ¡°Don¡¯t stop because of me, fight, kill most of you are already marked for death anyway.¡± The Erinyes seeing Thanatos disappeared immediately and the hoplite army pushed forward facing the underworld army. The distraction by Thanatos was both welcome and ominous. Thanatos was known to hate gods so it doesn¡¯t make sense for him to stop a war between gods. Many of the adventurer¡¯s retreated and left the battlefield now that Thanatos had made his presence known. Both armies fought much more aggressively hoping to kill their enemies before them themselves died. The battlefield became more brutal. Monsters were impaled by spears, keres were struck by a shower of lightning. The hoplites were killed by hellhound claws and teeth or struck by the blades of the dracaena. Limbs were thrown all over the battlefield, the frenzy brought to fruition allies attacking ally and enemy attacking enemy. The battlefield was the epitome of chaos. Hoplites were hysterical covered with the blood of their enemies and cries could be heard from all over. I teamed up with Kairen and we fought defensively. We have no idea how many allies we killed during the battle but the enemies started to thin out over time. During the fight Kairen and I had to tag out quite frequently defending one another due to the injuries sustained mostly by the dracaena. At one point we had to retreat fully to the wall because Kairen lost an arm. The healers had to encase his arm with a white light and chant for 3 minutes whilst the arm regenerated. The wait was agonisingly slow watching those who fought by our side die at the hands of the underworld army. I had used up all my herbs and was no longer able to elementally enchant. I had to resort to enchanting with bones, teeth, claws, and life orbs. Some enchantments increased health, defence or even attack. Some enchantments failed and destroyed the weapon item that I tried to enchant. I discovered that there are risks to enchanting with random body parts. The dracaena orbs created a minor vampiric effect when used which helped keep our troops alive. Finally, we heard a blood curdling roar, and out from the forest came a 12 metre tall black humanoid creature. It was a Minotaur. Its fur was pitch black, the colour of night. Its eyes looked like bottomless pits. From its bull like face tendrils of smoke escaped. In the Minotaur¡¯s hands was a giant club, well more of a tree than a club. As it stepped onto the battlefield, the ground began to shake as if there were an earthquake. The army of the underworld cheered as the Minotaur made its way onto the battlefield. All our mages switched target to the Minotaur throwing lightning spells at it to try weaken it. It looked unfazed as it continued its way to our army. All our forces made way to attack the Minotaur throwing their spears if they still had them, and hacking at it with swords. Each time the Minotaur swung its club ten or more bodies flew through the air, their bones completely broken from the weight of the club. Within seconds, the Minotaur took out an entire phalanx leaving behind carnage. With all the pressure our entire army put on it, the Minotaur finally started to flinch. Seeing the Minotaur fall on one leg, I grabbed Karen''s hand and we climbed up its leg across its back to its head whilst it still swung its club. As we reached its head. We struck our blades at its neck, and a deafening roar blasted next to us. The Minotaur started shaking wildly trying to throw us off. Kairen, the idiot he is jumped and climbed into the nose of the minotaur and started hacking away inside causing blood to run down its face. I climbed around the back and made my way to the top of its head to stab down into its eyes. Thanks to the overall might of our remaining army we finally managed to slay the fearsome beast causing our morale to jump and the enemies to fall. The Battle was far from over and it was a brutal battle to overcome but, overcome it we did. We have no idea how long we fought but, when the battle finally ended there were no more than 70 people remaining on our side. Bodies were piled all over the place with dried pools of blood everywhere. This book''s true home is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience. *triiing*

After helping clean up the town, I met up with Zach, Rosetta, and Kairen in the inn and we chatted. In the end we decided to separate for a while to explore and develop our character¡¯s further but, promised to keep in touch. Rosetta suggested I show my dad the battle in case he wanted to use it for promotional means. After everyone left, I too logged out.

If I learnt anything from this chapter, its that tables are evil and should go die. I think this chapter badly needs proofing, if you can point out mistakes, please do I woudl appreciate it. not too sure if this chapter flowed too well, I think I preferred the thief hideout chapter.
