《Reality Meets Myth》 Prologue: School years opening Ceremony Prologue Adam sat lazily at a bench on a tares in front of the schools auditorium looking down upon the rest of the island Academy. The academy covered an entire Island that is part of a continent in Obreron. The Academy has all the facilities needed to house a population of 30,000 with around 24,000 of them being students. The academy even had facilities to hold anything from a slime to even a high dragon. There was even a massive park covering over 40 acres of land. One of the major features of the academy was the training ground ranging from sports all the way to basic combat. This academy was one of only ten schools that allowed a mixed population of species to live learn and work together. Obviously there were humans here since humanity had the largest population of the two worlds. Humans from earth had a wide range and variety of looks and races while the humans of Obreron seemed to be a combination of all of earth¡¯s races combined into one but they all still looked different. There were a number of races that attend and work at this academy. You could easily find Elves, dwarves, humans, Halflings, gnomes, orcs, Beast men such as wolves, fox¡¯s, cat¡¯s, rabbits, lizard men, mole men, rat men, centaurs, Minatare, bird men, snake men, fairies, shark men, mermen, a few demons, and a number of other species. There are even a few dragons and Immortals (the people of Obreron sometimes call gods). The school had every grade level available from Pre-School for the children of people living on the island to college level where people from all over the region come to learn and study. They taught all the needed basic to even combat do to Oberon still being the frontier to the humans from earth. Well since the war almost everyone has been required to learn some form of combat and since citizens could be drafted at anytime. Adam¡¯s family sent him to this academy when he was only six though he still visits his parent¡¯s home during the summer. Adam¡¯s grandfather had served in the war against the empire and eventually after the war ended he settled down with his wife who was a human from Oberon and their son(Adams Father) and eventually became mayor of the new settlement with the same office Adams father now served as mayor. Their settlement was situated in a valley between a vast plain of land forest and a mountain range. As the settlement grew the architecture varied from the elven tree homes to earths styled apartments. The settlement received power from their regions Dam and a large wind farm(windmills) that has continued to grow. A mining company even moved in to work with the neighboring dwarves to dig rare minerals out of the mountains. The elves were always a great help to the farmers and their crops. When Adam was born you could even say that the settlement had become a small city with a wide range of species from beast men, to the elves and the dwarves. Like all growing communities security also grew and advanced. At first it was just the sheriffs or as some called them the towns guardsmen but now the city had a swat team, a large police force, a wyvern squadron, a K9 unit and much more. The city even had its own small airport just recently built. Adam grew up in a small manor with a variety of staff from Cat and dog women maids, to a Minatare house guardsman and a centaur butler. He lived live peacefully at home even made a number of friends. He had two close childhood friends a elf girl named Uirdis, and the Wyvern Haanas Saurus(Hana for short) that he raised since it was a hatchling. As family tradition Adam was sent off to the academy to schooling. His father even helped paid for a number of his staff¡¯s children and family friends to go to school. His family even sent a cat girl maid who Adam always called her sister since he was little though her name was Sasha who was in her early teens to keep an eye on him. Some may say Adams family is rich and filled with cash but that was not the case. Humans from earth began to greatly profit at the end of the war as a wave of new resources and jobs flooded the market to the point that not a single first and second world countries were bellow middle class and lived happy lives. Though for humanity prospering greatly most of the population from the other world lived as lower middle class but mostly lived as the lower class. Many of their lives were improved with technology and new knowledge but their cultures and way of life were practically destroyed. Adams family was one out of a percentage of humans that cared about these people from another world. And that brings us to today Adam was now nineteen years of age with only three years of school left. Adam sat on the bench watching the student¡¯s head up the hill to the auditorium. Uirdis Sat next to Adam lightly playing an elven version of a Violin. Hana lay on the ground in a human form of a fourteen year old with large breasts far beyond her age humming and sketching in a notebook. Silently behind the bench stood Sasha on guard and silently watching their surroundings. Sasha walked to Adam¡¯s side, ¡°my lord we must head for this years opening ceremony.¡± Adam sighed, ¡°just one more minute there are still people coming up from the docks.¡± Stolen from its rightful author, this tale is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings. Uirdis began putting away her instrument, ¡°we really should be going Adam we need to get you in there since you are an honorary student council member.¡± Adam lowered his head, ¡°and why am I a honorary student council member again?¡± Hana closed her notebook and hopped to her feet, ¡°It¡¯s because master is the strongest there is!¡± Uirdis, ¡°Not exactly Hana its because he¡¯s been the highest scoring student the last four years.¡± Adam Laughed, ¡°I should have just aimed for average.¡± Sasha shook her head thinking what he said was wrong while Uirdis finished putting away everything and turned to him. ¡°Adam, remember what your mother said.¡± ¡°yes, yes always do your best.¡± Adam stood up with Hana hopping on his back resting her head on his and squashing her breasts to the back of his head. As Uirdis put the strap to her bag over her shoulder and pouted at Adam with Hana rubbing her chin against his head smiling. She walked over smiling creepily and rapped her arm around his and held it to her breasts. Adam just sighed sadly use to the two fighting over who¡¯s closest to him. He quickly headed towards the auditorium¡¯s entrance where there where a number of boards listing instructions and then the top 10 scores of each category from last year. First was history Adam was scored fifth, after that was math he was scored seventh, then it was magic were he was ranked third, literature he was ranked second, and on and on it went every single one had his name on it while the average person in the top ten¡¯s only had their name on a board or two. They quickly entered the auditorium and headed for the stage while the audience seats were still only half filled. Once on stage Adam pride Hana off and had Sasha take her to just off stage. Uirdis went and sat in their years representative speakers chair while Adam went and sat in the honor students chair. Most of the chairs on stage were already filled with student representatives and teachers in charge of their divisions. They all varied in species and race from a human literature teacher to an Orc head gym coach there was even an angel and a demon sitting in the group. The head mistress who was an ageless fairy and even human size(which is rare) sat in the center of the front row. To her right sat her secretary and body guard a large female minotaur who looked like a tall heavily muscled human with cow horns, legs, tail and fur covering portions of her body along with two massive sets of breasts wearing a dress suit. To their right were the teachers sitting in rows and to the left the students with the student council in the front row. Adam closed his eyes for a while before the sound from the students and teachers in the audience became loud making it sound like the room was filled. Opening his eyes he noticed the open space in front of the stage was now filled with centaurs. There was a few hundred all together with most of them wearing Knight casual clothes that were in the schools colors. Almost directly in front of him he spotted a female centaur staring and nervously blushing at him before turning away. Adam remembered how he meet her one year senior to him. He was laying in his usual spot in one of the grounds trees skipping a class as usual when the building next to him objects started to be thrown out the window on the next floor of the building with calls of peeping tom, and pervert being yelled. Losing his balance he fell and landed on the centaurs back making her squeal and start to bulk trying to get him off. Adam just held on for dear life until she fell to her knees from exhaustion. She turned to him with a happy, sad, and embarrassed look all at once. Tulite stuttered while seeming to try and say multiple things at once, ¡°I¡­what do you wish of me?¡± Adam, ¡°what do you¡­ OH¡­ no I didn¡¯t¡± Right then as he sat on her back he remembered the custom the centaurs have where they have to stay on their back while the female tries to throw you off until they can¡¯t go any further. This custom is one of the meatheads to propose marriage to centaurs or only given to their master¡­ she just accepted. Adam stopped looking around keeping his eyes closed again The student council president got up and walked to the podium her face appearing on monitors around the auditorium for those that could not see her that well or those in another building. She cleared her voice and the crowds of students fell quiet. Student council president, ¡°welcome back everyone!¡± They all yelled and cheered. The president raised her hand for silence before continuing, ¡°I also welcome those new student out there and hope you enjoy your time at our academy.¡± She stepped aside and as the head mistress stepped forward to begin her yearly speech¡­ to be continued (need to sleep woke up in the middle of the night around 3:30am with the idea for this story and its now 2pm and ive only had 3-4 hours of sleep some im going to bed before working on this and mythical legends some more) Comments and suggestions Thanks for reading my new series after the story gets going a little bit more please fill free to post comments and and suggestions on improving my series. every battle until the empire staged a new tactic using magic as barriers to get close ¡ì Did not last long most magicians were to tired after the first two skirmishes to continue tactic o The empire sent wave after wave of races and monsters at the united nations troops ¡ì Humanoids ¨C Elves, dwarves, humans, Halflings, gnomes, orcs, barbarians, goblins, Giants, etc ¡ì Demi-humans/beast men ¨C wolf men, fox, cat¡¯s, rabbits, lizard men, mole men, rat men, centaurs, Minatare, bird men, snake men, fairies, shark men, mermen/mermaids, etc. ¡ì Demonic creators ¨C Demons, hellhounds, succubus¡¯s, vampires, undead, spirits, etc. ¡ì Magical/fantasy creatures ¨C Trolls, wolves, ents, Dragons, talking animals, chimera¡¯s, brownies, massive multi tusk elephants, etc. o They even started to resort to dark magic of necromancy to raise an army of undead ¡ì For over a year the united nation¡¯s military had a string of losses trying to fight their new enemy ¡ì Eventually they began to devise new tactics against the undead ¡¤ Using flame throwers to burn the ranks of undead to ash ¡¤ Using armored vehicles to run over the undead breaking bones and tearing recently dead flesh ¡¤ Killing the summoners or destroying certain magical objects ¡ì Near the beginning of the war fear spread when demons also began to attack o Into the second decade of the war the empire began to fall apart ¡ì Fiefdoms, races, and even corrupt politicians began breaking away from the empire ¡¤ Some formed their own countries ¡¤ Others negotiated with the united nations to join ¡¤ Some even started peace talks ¡¤ Others fought anyone and everyone ¡ì The number of male soldiers dropped severely thanks to the war and so did the size of the empires armies ¡ì They also could not train soldiers fast enough due to the long process. ¡ì A few races even went extinct in the proses of the war ¡ì Eventually the last few years were just gorilla warfare with remnants of the empire o Over the course of the war many things happened ¡ì The empire had five different emperors and two empresses during the war ¡¤ The first sent the invasions to earth but eventually he died with in the first five years of war ¡¤ The second emperor died with in two years of taking power on the front lines ¡¤ Over the next three to four years two emperors and an empress took power but were assassinated by other¡¯s in line for the throne ¡¤ The last emperor put up a valiant effort to retake control of the situation but by then the empire was beginning to fall apart at its seams, he eventually committed suicide most believe ¡¤ Finally the last to take power was an empress the last living child of the first emperor, she fought for almost a year before surrendering to the United Nations and began peace talks. ¡ì The empire also sent a number of suicide attacks ¡¤ A hand full made it to earth and attempted to kill those in power though some who they believed were in power and they attacked were actually company head ¡¤ The worst attack was on the United nations building in new york were a tenth of the delegates in council where killed ¡¤ The rest of the suicide attacks where made on officers and soldiers holding positions in the other world o A great fear arose from illnesses, disease, and parasites from this other world spread ¡ì The first was the Pig virus or Swine Flu ¡¤ The first sighting of the virus were shortly after the gates were opened around the world ¡¤ The virus alters the infected causing them to grow tusks and alter their body¡¯s to give them the look of pig men thus given the viruses name ¡¤ The infected also lost major brain functions degenerating to the point that they lived like cave men ¡¤ The infection was spread through direct contact and body liquids along with bites ¡¤ The virus quickly spread from around a few gates infecting regions of the middle east, and northern Africa with minor contained outbreak around the world ¡¤ Scientist eventually discovered that the virus is genetically connected the species of Orc¡¯s in some way ¡¤ Orc¡¯s are also immune to the virus ¡¤ Through study Doctors and scientist believe it is a cross between a virus and a parasite though currently they are not able to find a cure or vaccine ¡¤ The infected are known to rape and pillage settlements, towns, and cities. ¡¤ Some people have even been known to purposely be infected ¡ì Another virus was the werewolf virus ¡¤ The realization that werewolves are real lead to the united nations hunting them to near extinction ¡¤ The virus infects its victims through bites and body liquids The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident. ¡¤ Werewolves are harder to find due to them only changing during a full moon ¡¤ The infected also act slightly differently then they use to such as a craving for raw meat ¡¤ Eventually negotiations between the infected and Government began though the situation is still unresolved ¡ì Another virus like the werewolves is the Vampires ¡¤ Vampires have also been hunted though not targeted as much as the other two viruses ¡¤ The infected only turn when injected, injecting blood, or infected blood gets in the bodies system ¡¤ The infected can no longer go out in daylight ¡¤ The infected still remain sentient unless they do not get enough blood causing them to degenerate into blood thirsty beasts ¡ì Another virus is connected to the bubonic plague ¡¤ This virus is currently at the top of the CDC¡¯s threat list though there has been a hand full of contained outbreaks ¡¤ Some do not die from the disease but fall severely ill with no signs of getting better ¨C believed to be resistance created from after effects of earths bubonic plague ¡¤ A vaccine has been created recently and has passed all trials. ¡ì There are a number of other viruses though not as serious o After the war the countries of earth began dividing up territories of this newly conquered world ¡ì The world was made up of four continents or five if you count the one covered in ice and its temperatures average bellow zero ¡ì This world unlike earth was covered in about 67% water compared to earths 71% ¡ì The planet even had three moons with one partially destroyed creating a small asteroid belt/ring around the planet ¡ì The planet was also slightly larger then earth but did not have that much of a difference ¡ì Scientists continue to study the gates but can not confirm if the other world is in another solar system, another reality or some would say dimension, or traveling through time(though this belief is considered by most to be the most unlikely),¡­ ¡¤ The scalars, and mages of the other world do not fully understand it either with their only knowledge discovered in ancient text and artifacts on how to create the gates with little knowledge of anything else, some even believe that the gods gave it to them (Earth discovers a form of Gods though they are more like immortals that can live forever if not killed) ¡¤ But people of both worlds believe that the gates use to exist at one time in ancient history due to legends, myth¡¯s, and a few ancient scriptures ¡ì Eventually a could war between three major powers began ¡¤ The alliance lead by the united states with a number of countries such as Canada, Japan, Mexico, Britain, Spain, France and parts of south America, and Australia ¡¤ Then there is the New United nations lead by Russia with major portions of Europe, Africa, Cuba, a country or two of south America, and the middle east as members ¡¤ Then there is the Asian Collective or collanition lead by china controlling most of Asia, portions of Africa , and north Korea which took control of south Korea during the 20 year war(so now its just Korea) ¡¤ There is very few neutral countries left mainly in Africa but there are a few here in there through out the world that fear joining or not joining a side may ignite a war ¡ì A realization occurred to the people of earth and the other world happened as the war ended ¡¤ Earth lost around 80 million to the war but including the viruses and other effects of the war the total casualty rate was just over 400 million and still counting ¡¤ The other world on the other hand lost most of its male population due to over conscription of troop that were easily massacred by Earths weapons and war machines, over all the other world lost around a third of its overall population o Original male to female ratio around 1:2 or one male to 2 females o New current male to female ratio is between 1:15 or 1:30 (Also depends on race) o It has now been forty years since the war and sixty since the invasion ¡ì Peace between the nations of earth grew during the course of the war but began to fray as the war ended dividing up into the three powers ¡ì The races of the other world living under the control of earth governments ¡¤ The Alliance says they believe in equality though many of the other races or species are treated as 2ndrate citizens while a hand full are treated as pests and outcasts o Slavery is still illegal though there is still the black market slave trade, and sex trafficking ¡¤ The New United Nations has reinstated forms of indentured servants and criminal (slave¡¯s) workers used in manual labor o The other species/races are treated harshly and unfairly but they are still mostly free under their rule ¡¤ The Asian Collective on the other hand have enslaved all the other species and races in their new territories and have tried to rapidly gather recourses and build up their new frontier while preparing for war ¡ì In the alliance territories for the last thirty five years began trading resources and knowledge with the other races living in their new territory¡¯s ¡¤ They began to give basic technologies, and teach new things that were new to their world and in return traded knowledge on magic and other thing o Studies over the last 24 years have shown that around 52% of humans from earth have the ability to use magic while less then half would ever be proficient in it if taught o Technologies have also changed and even improved with the addition of magic though some have been slightly set back o The dwarves have also traded information on their metal working and mining while we gave them more advanced equipment to use ¡ì Learned about fantasy metals and even found a few though rare deposits on earth ¡ì Have learned alternative if not better ways to purify metal o Trading with the elves has also given humanity the knowledge and ability to start fixing and improving the environment on earth and even ways to purify the environment from dangerous pollution o With all this trades improvements to earth¡¯s cities began and even knew ones began to form in the other world combining each others knowledge ¡¤ Scientists believe that combining technologies and magic could advance us farther and faster then before. o They believe it may be possible with the knowledge gained from the other world that we could begin colonizing space within the next century and even taraform mars¡­ o They also believe that we could combine the knowledge to create or even find and improve forms of energy and power sources
