《The Ordinary Adventure》 A Boy name Jade Let me tell upon you all an old, almost forgotten tale A Tales unlike any other, a tale that told the journey of one young man fighting against the entire word Now here is how it goes In a distant world, where fantasy still rules, There was a prophecy laid out by The ''Great Prophet'' himself, A Prophecy that tell to the world, a world filled with magic and fantasy, a world where everyone has ''Class'' bestow upon them since the day they was born That someday, A ''Demon King'' shall be born among them, Not a ''Demon Lord'', but a ''Demon King'' A Demon King with power so terrible that even the combine might of thousands ''Soldier'' will be powerless before him. Even among the ''Hero'', none can match the power of the Demon King And with him, The Demon King will bring war upon the world as he march to bring death and despair over all those who oppose him, bringing thousands upon thousands of ''Demon'' with him, with an intent to rule over the world The people despair at this prophecy , at this bleak future they have "But worry not my fellow follower of the Great Goddess Lyr" Said the Great Prophet, his voice is firm and strong, addressing the hundreds of people that stood before him "For if you continue to worship our Magnificent Goddess Lyr, she will surely send savior to us all, a savior bearing the class of ''Chosen One''!" Shouted the Great Prophet to the crowd And so the prophecy is told to them all, a classic prophecy, telling us about a classic tale between ''Evil'' and ''Good'', ''Hero'' and ''Demon King'' Left undisturbed, this tale would go just like your everyday, epic tale telling us about the struggle and life of the Chosen one But in this one particular tale will not to tell us about the journey of the Chosen One And what will this tale told us you say? Well, to answer your question, let us take a look at one ordinary child, An ordinary child who lives in an ordinary village, a child bestowed with a ''Villager'' class. A Class so ordinary it cannot even be called a class Let us take a look at this Ordinary Child, and the ''Ordinary Adventure'' he will have . . . . . . Fire A Child walks alone in the middle of burning village, his determined eyes staring ahead looking into the unknown, dragging his battered, wounded body along with him Fire From somewhere, sound of something collapsing reach the boy''s ear, but he neither notice it nor he care about it for the flames around him would consume him if he ever stop his walk Fire ''Why did this happen?'' That question came into the boy''s mind, ''How did this happen?''. Many questions float in the boy''s mind, questions that will go unanswered for many years to come Fire The element of destruction would not answer him, the corpses of the people he knows cannot answer him, and so the boy continue his walk unflinching and unsteady, to the unknown future ahead of him Fire Where the boy walks even he did not know, but as long as he can get away from here, escape from this hell on earth he would gladly take step even in the Netherworld itself One-step after another, slowly but surely he will escape this hell, this boy is sure of that. But as the saying goes, one should not tempt fate before they sure that fate aren''t looking. Just as the boy think of that- "-ah" The boy lose his footing, his already unsteady body loses his balance as his line of sight suddenly tilt and with a soft *Thud*, he hit the ground. He curses. He should have known better to tempt fate but he did it anyway and now he had to pay the price. He tried to stand up, but immediately regret it as intense pain come to him, his bloodied leg give out as he once again fall into the ground And so without legs to help him out of this hellhole, he did the only thing he can do in this situation. He crawls. He crawls along the ground like a baby, ''It was surely an unsightly sight'' the boy thought in his head a slight chuckle come from his mouth as he use his hand to support his crawling. '' A sight of a pathetic worm crawling on the ground desperately clinging to his life'' ''-But so what?'' He replied the mantra he so fondly of saying in his head, ''So what if it was an unsightly sight?'' He ain''t no hero and certainly not the chosen one. He was just a boy with a ''Villager'' class. A boy who refused to die when by all right he''s supposed to. There won''t be any miracle rescuing him, or a lucky power save him from this fire so he only does what he can do. He crawls along the ground. With that determination in his mind the boy continued to crawl, now an idea on how to escape this place hit him like a brick. He needed to get to the harbor, abroad the abandoned fisherman''s ship. From there he can escape to the lake using one of ship in the harbor, away from the touch of the flames. With a place in mind, the boy renewed his vigor, crawling along the ground with even more gusto than before For once, it seems that fate has taken a pity on the boy because even with his eyes, he can spot the familiar shape of a ship he desperately sought for ''Just a little more..'' The Boy thought, ''Just a little more!'' With that single-minded determination, the boy continued to crawl. Crawling to his salvation, to escape from this hell he''s currently in. "Huh¡­huh¡­" The boy spread his arm as he tried to get his breath under control "..ahaha¡­." A laugh begin to spill from the boy''s mouth "-AhahahaAHAHAHA!" The laugh finally turns into a full-blown one as he laughs to his heart content The reason for his laugh you asks? It''s because he''s finally succeed at his task at getting into the boat, drifting it away from flames that will surely kill him if he''s stayed there just a bit longer. ''I did it! I DID IT!'' Euphoria washed over The Boy. Even as he leave the heaps of corpse and his doomed hometown, The Boy continued his laugh at succeed escaping his death. And so the night continue to goes on, accompanied by the laughter of The Boy''s who finally lost his consciousness and drifted into a dreamless sleep. ________________________________________ . . . . ''Why must I become a villager?'' That is the question that often plagued The Boy''s mind, ''Why do I live in this mad world?'' The Boy often wondered. What it is about this ''world'' that he defined as mad ? Why is it, that a boy no older than 10, have this kind of question ? To reach the answer of that question, we first must delve into this ''Mad World'' the boy is talking about, the world named Trivia. Just like many other world scattered throughout the universes, this particular world also has The Human race living on it. But unlike other world, the Human living in this world had a special trait that different them for the other human race. That is, a trait called [Class] What exactly a [Class] is? It is quite simple really, to put in layman''s term, [Class] is your identity, job, and destiny. [Class] is not something to be achieved, rather, it is something that is determined from the moment you''re born in this world. Say that your class is [Farmer]. That''s mean that when you have grown up to be an adult, you will become a farmer, because it''s what you''re good at, destined at, It is as simple as that. Of course, there are some unique cases among the class, that is, a [Sub Class]. Let¡¯s pick an [Adventurer] for an example, they have the right to choose a sub class like [Rogue], [Mage], and [Warrior], but only if they are blessed by a [Priest] of the Goddess Lyr This is a gift given by the Great Goddess that watches over this world A Goddess named Lyr. A gift that help humans realize their destiny, and helping them not to stray off path. This is a system that has been existing in this world since the dawn of its creation. No one find this [Class] weird or wanted to rebel against it. It is a common sense you may say, that [Class] is something that decide your future. Just as Human needs to breathe, and Fish lives in the water, [Class] determined your future. And now let''s take a closer look on the boy, The boy, who couldn¡¯t be any older than eleven. A boy with black hair on his head and striking green eyes that is belong to many other people in this world, a common hair color and eyes you may say. The Boy didn''t share the same thought as the people of this world, The Boy who bear the class [Villager]. A Dime a dozen class. The Boy questions the people around him, ''Why can I be something else?'', ''Why must I follow my class?'' The answer he got, is always the same, ¡®Because it¡¯s what the Goddess Lyr give to you¡¯ Of course, due to this sort of questions, many people around him labeled him as ''That Crazy child'', ''Annoying Kid '', and that is one of the polite names that the people behind him said. But the boy paid them no heed. Even if no one in the world will support him, he still determine to become something else, something different from his destiny, from his [Class]. The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation. ''Maybe I can become an [Adventurer]'' the boy thought to himself, ''Or maybe a [Warrior]!'' But alas, even if the boy wanted to become something different, the world will not make it so easy for him. At first, the boy decides to try to learn some Magic. A kind of power that will allow one to bend reality itself to their whim, and creating many kind of trick. What kind of boy doesn¡¯t want that power? With that in mind, the boy went to a [Bookstore], a Shop that sell many different kind of [Specialization], and [Technique]. But when he go to the bookstore to buy a book containing the information of magic and how to use it, he was denied of even that "You are a [Villager]. What use is a [Villager] having a book about magic anyway? Only [Mage], [Hero], or [Magic Knight] and other similar class had the right to buy it" That is the word that is said by the Shop Keeper as he denied the boy From there it only get worse for the boy as he finally learn what being [Villager]. First, even if he got the money for it, there is many, many thing he can''t buy. Such as weapons, armor, or even such simple thing as ''Potion''. It seems that even the world is conspiring against him from achieving his dream ''-But so what?'' The Boy chants that mantra in his head again. Even if the world did conspiring against him, he would not give up so easily. Instead of being downhearted, the flame''s in the boy''s heart burns brighter than ever before. And so with no other alternatives, he decides to do the basic training first. The only available training for him. Such as running, punching a tree, and swinging a long stick he found in the forest as a substitute of weapon. He does this everyday with a hope of turning his dream into a reality. But then that faithful day come, a day that will cement the thought that ''This is a mad world he lives in''. The day The Demon King attack. Of course, to attack such a village like his home, the Demon King didn''t take part in it himself, instead he send his minions, The Demons. The attack happen so suddenly and so quickly, but that isn''t what surprise the boy And while the Demons that attack them possess a strength and ferocity that could easily surpass a normal human, easily evidence how they can move easily despite the heavy looking armor they wearing, but even then, it isn''t what surprised the boy the most. No, what surprise the boy the most is how easily the Demons crush and destroy the village. While by no means a big village, the village the boy lived is easily the home of more than 100 adult. But those adult didn''t do anything when their home are destroyed How many demons are attacking? Ten. Only ten demons are being sent to attack this village. And yet, those ten manage to destroy the village of more than ten times its sizes without a scratch whatsoever. "It''s only ten of them! We can overpower them with our sheer number!" That is what the boy shouts as he holds his trusty stick, ready to defend his home. But alas- "What are you talking about? They are [Demon]! We are just [Villager]! There is no way we can possibly win!" Replied one of the [Villager], followed by chorus of agreement from the others The Boy couldn''t believe what he was hearing. Just because of that? Just because of their class is [Villager] they can''t take arms and fight? What kind of stupid reason is that? But before The Boy can do anything else, an inhumane scream echoes throughout the village " !" It was truly a monstrous scream, a kind of scream that human won''t be able to recreate much less comprehend. The scream seems to be the only signal that the Villager need for them to scatter away, running to all kind of direction trying to escape from the demon. From the edge of The Boy''s vision, their figures finally become clear. Numbering at ten, they stand over 2 meters in height, carrying all sorts of weapon and armor with them, each and every single one of them seems to have taste a lot of blood. The demons move quicker than The Boy thought, already closing the long distance between them. The boy tightens the grip on his stick. He would surely be lose in this confrontation no question asked the boy is sure of that. Even if he did a proper weapon, the difference in number and skills is simply too great, he might even lose his life in this fight. ''-But so what?'' The Boy repeated the chant in his head. So what if he''s going to die fighting these demons? At the very least, he would die with his pride intact, unlike those Villagers who''s currently running with their tail between their legs. The boy allows a smile to form in his face even if he''s sense his death closing on him. Taking a deep breath, he raises his voice to greet his executioners. "Come On!" With that, the one-sided massacred begin. . . . . Morning. As if nothing of importance happen, morning innocently came just like your average usual day. Wondering why his bed is shaking, The boy groggily open his eyes. And what he sees is the sun shining brightly in the sky ¡°Huh?¡± A dumbfounded voice comes from the boy. The sun? Wait, where is my roof? As he tried to sit upright using his hand as a support, a sever pain come from his hand. ¡°-gagh?!¡± As the pain reminding him that his wound is far from fully healed, The boy finally remember what happen yesterday. The massacre of his village. ¡°¡­.huh so is not a dream¡± The boy quietly mumbles to himself. He didn¡¯t remember much of what happened after his ¡®fight¡¯ with the demon, though he do remember one of the demons launch a punch in his stomach, effectively knocking him out. And the next he knew is that his whole village is on fire. ¡®Funny how thing can escalate so quickly¡¯ The boy dryly thought Inspecting his body to see how bad his injuries is, the only conclusion that the boy can came up with is that yes, he is hurt ¡®Pretty fricking bad¡¯. But hey, he survive, so there¡¯s that Narrowing his eyes at the place where his village once stood, the boy can make out that the flames that raging out in there a day before has finally died down ¡°Hmm¡­.it looks like the fire already died out, better go there and salvage something then¡± Nodding to himself at his own idea, the boy begin to row the boat he¡¯s currently using a paddle in it. Whistling to himself, the boy begin his short journey to the village -Village- As he arrives in the harbor , The boy finally able to get a good look at the current state of his village. As expected of the element of destruction, only rubble and ash is left of what once used to be the home of more than hundreds of people. The smell of burned corpses of the remaining villagers that failed to escape in time filled the air. The smell is enough to make The boy wanted to vomit, but he held it back as best as he could. His vomit is wasted on people like them anyway. Using the paddle as a walking stick, the boy began his tracking throughout the village, salvaging what he could get his hand on and keeping an eye for any wild beast that might come there. After what seems like few hours, the boy finally finish salvaging what few that survives from the flames. As expected the valuable thing like jewelries and money has already burned to ashes, and what weapon he find is in such state that using the paddle he¡¯s currently use as a walking stick might be prove to be more dangerous than the weapon he found. But he at least manage to salvage few healing potion and money inside a safe and also a small knife that has seen better days, but still usable. ¡°Huh, better than I expected¡± The Boy mused. ¡°Well then, this is it then¡± The boy said as he gulp down some potion to relieve his pain, ¡°This is where my adventure will begin¡± The Boy said with a smile on his face, As he walk to the road leading the exit from his village, a thought came to the boy¡¯s mind ¡®Ahhh¡­that¡¯s right. I also need a new name huh?¡¯ He after all can''t use the name ''Boy'' forever, and its certainly fit his need in starting a new life With that thought, the boy begin to think an appropriate name for someone like him. Someone who decide to rebel against his destiny, ¡°¡­¡­¡­Jade, let¡¯s go with Jade¡± The boy decided. Jade, is the name of the protagonist of some book the boy once read. A Demon Lord who wish to alter his destiny of being defeated by the heroes, and finally succeed doing it. The name fit what The Boy need. ¡°Well then, let¡¯s begin my journey then¡± With that, The boy named Jade leave his village. A [Villager], a boy blessed with no power but his own, a boy in a journey in his goal to alter his destiny begin his first step in his long, long, journey Page One: The Forest of Eins Right, here is the second chapter of the ''Ordinary Adventure'' . Expect many Grammar mistake here and there, and the horrible structure that are obvious to everyone except me ......and the weird dialogue .....and the cringe worthy description .......and the overall bad quality ....Why are you reading this again? . . . . . It is a bright and sunny day here in the Trivia World, especially here in the Forest of Eins. A Forest that is famous for its various in inhabitant that both dangerous and deadly to humans The Sun is shining in the sky, Birds are chirping, and even the occasional sound of animal mating can be heard throughout the forest if one just stop for a moment and listen carefully Among all of that a figure can be seen walking through the forest, his eyes darting cautiously among the woods, searching for any sign of monster that might attack him without warning ¡°Great¡­.just when I was in need of rain you give me a sunny day filled with sunshine and smile, thanks for nothing you useless Goddess¡± Jade grumble under his breath, his hand gripping the cane he brought as a mean of defense from any unwanted encounter Oh? You¡¯re asking why Jade wish today was raining? It simple really. If it rains, the chance of him meeting a monster or wild beast is probably smaller since they don¡¯t exactly fond of getting wet, just like human But alas, it was not meant to be. So with a sigh and a heavy heart, Jade opt to make himself as big as possible, standing straight while wearing his best ¡®Scary Face¡¯ in hope of preventing other denizen of the forest from attacking him Of course, in term of appearance, a little boy using a piece of wood as a walking cane is probably as intimidating and as dangerous as it sounds Which, if you haven¡¯t notice already is not very impressive ¡®Ah, no use sighing over it. What important right now is thinking of what I¡¯m going to do next¡¯ Jade thought in his mind Well, while having a goal in life is good and all that, life isn''t just so easy that he will be able to flawlessly get whatever he want with determination alone. His life in his village already become the prove of that ¡®That said¡­¡­¡­how am I supposed to live from now on?¡¯ Jade idly thought the biggest problem he has right now ¡®I certainly can¡¯t just stay in another village lest they found out about my class and force me to become a [Farmer]¡¯ ¡®Living in a forest is also a big no, considering that even a week old goblin have a good chance of killing me¡¯ Jade let out a sigh again, ¡®Aaahhh¡­..should I became a [Bandit] then?¡¯ As soon as he think that though, Jade immediately shake his head and letting out a snort ¡®And get killed by [Adventurer] acting as a bodyguard? No thanks¡¯ Jade let out a sigh again. Man a kid like him shouldn¡¯t have sigh so much but considering his situation though, you have to forgive him if he¡¯s not all smile and sunshine like a kid his age. Just as he¡¯s about to contemplate more of what¡¯s he¡¯s about to do, a loud footstep suddenly reach Jade¡¯s ear Jade froze. Now that he thinks about it, the forest has been strangely quiet for the last minutes or so. A strange thing considering that not long earlier animal of all kind is happily making noises here and there. A thing that he should normally notice if he¡¯s not so damn busy with his own thought As the footstep come closer, the currently frozen Jade could only watch in silence as the source of the footstep finally reveal his appearance And what Jade sees really making him regret his carelessness of for not noticing the silence Standing at over 2 meter tall with bulging muscle all over his green body. His muscle isn¡¯t just for show apparently, given that he can carry an axe as big as Jade with one hand. His two long and menacing horns in his head are probably more than sharp enough to pierce through a human body, especially if the human is questioned is just a ten-year-old boy. It is, without a single doubt in Jade¡¯s mind, a monster called [Ogre]. As Jade is still standing still in shock, The Ogre finally notice that something is currently watching him The Ogre, seeing Jade small figure who barely reach his knee, let out a smile Seeing The Ogre¡¯s terrifying smile, Jade did his best to return his smile and hope for the best A moment of understanding happen between them The Ogre with terrifying smile Jade with terrified smile ¡­¡­¡­..Which is instantly shattered as The Ogre let out a huge roar at Jade, ¡°________!!!!!!!!?¡± In response, Jade too let out a scream of his own, ¡°GAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!!???¡± And without waiting for The Ogre¡¯s next move, Jade turn tail and run for his life . . . . . Before we talk about what happen to Jade after his first exciting and heart-throbbing meeting with an Ogre, let¡¯s dive a bit more about the forest he¡¯s currently in, The Forest of Eins. The Forest of Eins you can say, is a forest located near Jade¡¯s village. It is in fact, the place one must go through if they want to come or get out from Jade¡¯s village due. The Forest of Eins itself is considered to be not so dangerous, at least, to your average [Adventurer]. While it is true that there are plenty of wild beast and monster alike living in the forest, there are usually not a problem for [Adventurer] whom usually hired as a bodyguard by people who want to go to Jade¡¯s village. The most dangerous thing in this forest is probably an Ogre, a hulking monster with strength surpassing even that of Demon] race that the[ Demon King] lead. Maybe because of its strength though, the usual Ogre isn¡¯t exactly the brightest bunch even among monster. Thankfully though The Ogre usually dwells deep into the forest, so Traveler can rest easy as the chance of meeting them is smaller than winning a lottery. If you did meet them though, either you have very, very, bad luck, or maybe there are some gods above who probably hate your guts Jade you can say, is a combination of both ¡°AAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!¡± While screaming at the top of his lungs, Jade run as fast as his little legs can carry him. Considering his rather short leg and the still not fully healed wound on it, you can guess how fast he is going, Need I say it? While the commotion and sounds would normally draw a lot of attention from the denizens of the forest but luckily for Jade though, seeing that the Apex Predator of the forest is currently chasing him no other monster or beast would be foolish enough to approach him lest they find themselves on the end of the Ogre¡¯s axe Jade, who is currently busy running for his life is undoubtedly unaware of this fact and even if he is aware of this fact, it is doubtful that he will be glad over this ¡®Where to where to where to WHERE TO?!¡¯ That is the only thought occupying Jade¡¯s mind right now, searching for an escape from the Ogre pursue before his body finally give up and collapsed out of sheer exhaustion ¡®Tree? Useless. River? I¡¯ll drown. THEN WHAT?!¡¯ As Jade racking his brain for a way to escape, his eyes caught a sign of salvation that might just save him from this predicament ¡°A CLIFF!¡± That¡¯s right! If Jade remembers correctly, The Forest of Eins is divided by Cliff into two locations, the west, and the east side. Surely if Jade can jump over the cliff, The Ogre won¡¯t be able to reach him! With that joyous shout, Jade instantly change his direction of run, barely missing The Ogre hand that might capture him if he even one second too slow With a hope of escape in sight, Jade renew his running with a greater energy, going as far as creating a meter distance between him and The Ogre Seeing his little prey sudden burst of energy, The Ogre did nothing but raises his eyebrow Jade mind¡¯s though is completely focusing on the Cliff he¡¯s about to reach, and how he can escape if he¡¯s able to jump over the cliff. From what he¡¯s heard, the [Hunter] and [Adventurer] alike often said that the gap between the two places isn¡¯t too big, so surely he can cross over that easily! Of course, as you have probably notice, Reality isn''t as sweet as you dream it to be When Jade¡¯s eyes can finally see the cliff and the distance he have to jump, Jade¡¯s heart immediately sank Love what you''re reading? Discover and support the author on the platform they originally published on.For what standing between Jade and his salvation, is a 6-meter long gap of long way down that promise death should he failed to cross it In that moment Jade realize a fatal mistake that he did. ¡®Isn¡¯t too big¡¯ is something that is said by a [Hunter] and [Adventurer], someone who is blessed with a fit adult body that is certainly above what a normal human posses. It is definitely not a distance that can be easily cross by a [Villager] much less a Kid [Villager] with wounds on his legs But even after realizing his mistake, Jade did not stop his run or even showing a sign of slowing down. Seeing this obstacle in his way Jade could only clench his fist Should he turn back and find another way? Impossible, The Ogre behind Jade wouldn¡¯t allow him to escape for a second time Should he just beg The Ogre to sparing him then? This should provide a bigger chance of survival than jumping the cliff Jade would rather die than choosing that option So with the last bit of energy in his body, Jade let out a burst of speed again¡ª If he fails, he would surely die If he fails, it would surely mean the end of his dream ¡®-But so what?¡¯ Jade repeated his mantra in his head So what if he¡¯s dies here and fails at achieving his dream? It would only mean that his determination is just that weak and he only got himself to blame. It would only mean that he¡¯s stupid enough to waste this golden opportunity that he will finally achieve, ¡°I WILL NOT-¡° Reaching the edge of the cliff, Jade suddenly shout this, surprising The Ogre ¡°-DIE HERRREEEEEE!!!!¡± With that shout of defiance to his fate, Jade finally jump- The Jump Jade just did is the embodiment of everything he¡¯s have, It¡¯s his remaining strength, his dreams and his determination to live for another day If Jade was a [Chosen One] or even a [Hero], than surely this is all that he need to make this jump succeed . The Great Goddess Lyr would surely lend her generous hand for those that she blessed with a divine miracle, enabling them to pass this obstacle even by no mean they shouldn¡¯t be able to. But Jade is neither a [Hero] nor a [Chosen One] A miracle, would not come to a mere [Villager] like him Not even halfway through the gap, Jade know that his body is falling, a sure sign that the jump that he made with everything that he got will fail him Realizing the inevitable, Jade could only closes his eyes ¡®Dam-¡® Before Jade could finish whatever he¡¯s thinking though a sharp pain suddenly come from his back ¡°-GAGH?!¡± Jade could not even comprehend what¡¯s happening to him right now. One moment he his body started falling, and the next thing he knew is that he suddenly feels sharp pain in his back and he¡¯s suddenly in the another side of the cliff, stranded in awkward position with his head facing The Ogre that was previously catching him. Judging from the pain and the fact that he heard a strange sound from his back, Jade could have swore that he broke his back The last thing that Jade see before he pass out, is the sight of The Ogre letting out a laugh while giving him a thumbs with a ¡®Good job!¡¯ gesture ¡­¡­..wait what? Before he can think of anything else though, his body finally have enough and decided to shot down- -And then Jade knows no more . . . . . . ¡°GUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA¡± As he sees the boy who was knocked out cold in the another side of the cliff, The Ogre the supposedly ¡®Not-so¡¯ intelligent monster let out a boisterous laugh that echoes throughout the forest When his laugh finally died down, he look at the unsightly form of the boy he previously ¡®played¡¯ tag with, ¡°What an interesting one that child is. It¡¯s been awhile since I meet like that one¡± The words that come out from The Ogre¡¯s mouth are said with a deep voice and is perfectly understandable. Certainly not something you expect from a regular Ogre. In fact, this particular Ogre is known throughout the forest as ¡®Lark, Lord of The Ogres¡¯ ¡°Hmmm¡­..I only wanted to play a bit with him at first, but now it would certainly be a waste if I let him go now¡± The Ogre known as Lark mused this as he scratch his chin, While Lark is currently busy with his thought, let us take a moment to see what he meant with ¡®Playing a bit¡¯ with Jade. From the very first time Jade run away from Lark, there already several sign that something weird is going on. That is, the fact that Jade, a boy no older than eleven, could outrun a fully mature Ogre. No matter how strong the ¡®Power of Desperation¡¯ is, it is simply an impossible thing to do Unless, The Ogre in question doesn¡¯t want to catch you in the first place. This is precisely the case of what happening here. While it was truly a coincidences how Lark manage to meet Jade, the rest of it is a playful tag that Lark carefully creates ¡®Just slightly slower than him¡¯, ¡®Missing by hair¡¯s breadth¡¯, It was all coincidences made by Lark Of course, if Lark wants to seriously catch Jade it would take but a second for him Or at least, that what suppose to happen. Jade , in his own small ways, manage to surprise Lark by doing thing that he didn¡¯t expect or surpassing his expectation. The biggest one is undoubtedly Jade¡¯s daring act of jumping from a cliff even knowing that he would fail, Oh Lark know that The Kid already realize that he won¡¯t be able to make the jump seeing from his expression and the last-in-an-instant froze he got Yet he did the jump anyway, It was truly stupid thing to do¡­.and at the same time, a truly courageous act Lark did not hate that kind of stupidity So Lark decided to help the Kid to survive¡­¡­¡­.by throwing a rock at the kid¡¯s back, thereby giving him the force it needed to. Well, maybe he throws it a bit too hard but at least the Kid survives right? And so this is how Jade survives from his suicide jump, not because of divine miracles, not because of some Goddess in the sky, but from a rock thrown by the Lord of Ogres, ¡°Hmmmm¡­¡­that could work I guess¡± It seems that The Lord of Ogres has finllay finish his thought. Nodding at his own word, Lark eyes scanned the trees around him, searching for a tree big enough to act as a substitute bridge. ¡°Ah! This one seems big enough¡± It seems that Lark finally found a tree big enough to act a bridge between to place, and with a flick of his finger, Lark¡¯s finger made a contact with the Big Tree in front of him- -which starting to fall, the part of the tree where Lack¡¯s flick hit is now nothing but a hole Whistling to himself, Lark pick up the fallen tree with one hand, easily carrying a tree three times as big as him without a trouble whatsoever. Nearing the edge of the cliff, Lark leisurely put the tree to connect the two places, easily solving the problem of ¡®Not being able to cross to the other side of the cliff¡¯. Of course, this is all for the kid¡¯s sake. Lark doesn¡¯t even need to run to cover such a meager distance. But hell, Lark is not your average Ogre so maybe it doesn¡¯t count? ¡°There! It¡¯s done!¡± With a satisfied nod, Lark once again laid his eyes on the unconscious Jade, a terrifying grin full of sharp and pointy teeth is currently gracing his face ¡°Don¡¯t disappoint me kid¡± Turning his back, Lark begin to walk away from the cliff, leaving an ominous word hanging in the air ¡°-And welcome to the Forest of Eins¡± With that, a loud laugh once again filled The Forest of Eins, greeting the new addition to the forest and the interesting times that they will get Thus ends Jade¡¯s first day of adventure, with his conscious gone and new wounds appearing all over his body But hey, at least he¡¯s still alive. . . . . . The first thing that Jade do when he¡¯s awake is wondering why the world he¡¯s seeing is upside down The second thing he notices is that when he is busy in his journey to the la la land, the sunny days has decided to say ¡¯Good riddance!¡¯ to him and leave him all alone in the very scary and dark forest The third, is that when Jade finally awake from his beauty sleeps he did so with a surprised look on his face. He certainly don''t expect to wake up from whatever sleep he¡¯s currently was considering that Jade is sleeping out in a forest filled with dangerous Monster and wild beasts with no protection whatsoever. At the very least, Jade¡¯s expect to wake up with a missing limb or two But instead he wake up with all limbs attached and neck that are stiff as hell. Probably because of his awkward way of sleeping, which, while is better than the alternatives, still hurts like hell. Damn it But hell at least he¡¯s still alive, so there¡¯s that at least With that meager thought in his mind, Jade decided that he¡¯s might as well as get up and deal with the pain he¡¯s know he¡¯s going to get, And so Jade did exactly that. Sure enough, the pain Jade expected to happen come as Jade finally manage to stand up with his legs- ¡°SHHIIIIIII-¡° - and what a glorious pain it was. It seems like everything in Jade¡¯s body is screaming in protest because of Jade sudden movement. Considering that just yesterday Jade used his body to its very limit though, not a surprising thing. Even with all the pain , Jade is doing everything he can to not fall into the ground. If only standing up hurt this much, he did not dare to imagine how painful it is to fall with his already very painful back. ¡®Ah right, didn¡¯t I have a potion?¡¯ Remembering that, Jade check his belt for his potion that he manage to salvage from his village and for once, luck seems to smile on him as he find that all three of his potion is undamaged Now, Jade really has couples of questions here like ¡®How the hell is he still alive¡¯ , ¡®Why the hell is the potion he came out unscratched while he himself wasn''t¡¯ and last but not least ¡®How the hell did he survive that jump earlier¡¯ It¡¯s all a good questions that deserve an answer no doubt, but seeing that he won''t get ones, Jade simply do what any normal man would do in this situation, He turns blind eyes on those things and decided to quietly sip his sweet and delicious potion, not giving a care about the weird thing happening around him. There will come to time for him to questions those things of that Jade have no doubt But for now? Jade would simply enjoy that numbing sensation he feel after drinking the potion. And so Jade did exactly that. Enjoying this quiet moment while temporarily forgetting all the crap he¡¯s currently in to take a deep breath and taking a moment to appreciate the fact that he was still alive after today event ¡°But seriously-¡° Jade begin to grumble under his breath, ¡° What kind of messed up story is it that had a freaking Ogre as their first encounter?¡± This one apparently Feeling kind of happy after some relaxing and complaining, Jade finally decides to face the reality in front of him. With that , Jade scratch his head as he look at his surrounding ¡° Now¡­¡­where exactly am I ?¡± Musing that, Jade start to search his surrounding, hoping to find any sign of thing that might indicate him what part of the forest he¡¯s currently in ¡®Hmmm¡­..There¡¯s a cliff here, the big tree over there is growing toward south¡¯ Jade eyes begin to tales notices of every single thing around him, his observation leaving noting undetected ¡®-and a bit further to north, isn¡¯t that wolf¡¯s howl?¡¯ Then Jade begin to nod his head ¡°Got it!¡± With a confident nod, Jade once again spoke, ¡°I am hopelessly fucking lost¡± With that astounding observation, a loud scream soon echoes throughout the forest, signaling the awakening of the forest newest and weakest denizen . . . . . . ¡°Guhahahahahahahaha!!! That¡¯s some scream he got there! Keep it up boy!¡± Somewhere deep in the forest where no man has ever reached, The Lord of Ogre let out a bellowing laugh, enjoying the show that Jade is now providing from his comfortable throne The Ogres guarding his room could only look at each other as they heard their Lord¡¯s laugh. That laugh of his can never be a good thing, they can only hope that the target of their Lord¡¯s amusement is not them . . . . . ¡°CRAP CRAP CRAAAPPPPPP!!!!!¡± Running around in circle may not be the healthiest kind of action, or even the brightest thing to do, but seeing Jade state right now, you may have to forgive this ten-year-old boy ¡®What do I do what do I do?!!!¡¯ Such is what currently running in Jade¡¯s mind right now. Somehow Jade¡¯s get a feeling that he had recently done this before, but he quickly shook his head, such thing don¡¯t matter right now. What matter now is this: Jade without a doubt is in a bad situation here. First, he¡¯s stranded in who knows part of the forest with no way of getting out unless he wants to run around like a headless chicken and risk meeting an Ogre again, Second, he¡¯s basically lost without a weapon to defend himself, already losing his trusty walking stick thanks to that damn Ogre. Jade still have the small knife he¡¯s keep in his belt sure, but he very much doubt it can kill anything with its blunt edge. Pissed off the creature he¡¯s trying to stab and maybe hurt him a tiny bit? Yes But kill it? Not bloody likely And last but not least, Jade knows very well that almost everything in the forest is capable to kill him. This sudden realization making Jade¡¯s face pale even as he running in circle Tired of running in circle like some kind of idiot, Jade finally came to stop as well as gasping her breath. It seems that his ¡®running around in circle¡¯ tactic work because he now have a new goal in his mind ¡®What matter now is how to survive¡¯ with that new goal in his mind, Jade begins to formulate a plan in his mind, wondering what he should do first to survive in the forest ¡®But first, fire¡¯ deciding that, Jade quickly looks for dry wood and gather it in one place, intending to start a fire which hopefully will be useful in keeping wild beasts and monster away ¡­¡­..or it could attract them like moth to fire of course but for once, Jade want to think positively after all the crap he¡¯s experience today After successfully making a fire, Jade sit down near it, absorbing its heat in this all too cold forest ¡°Right at least I won¡¯t freeze to death now ¡° Jade muttered this, ¡°The next is¡­..food right?¡± Right, the next logical thing to do if he wants to survive in this forest is looking for food. As the saying goes ¡¯You can''t fight war with empty stomach¡¯ Well, in his case it¡¯s more like ¡®You can''t run from war with an empty stomach¡¯ but hey the principle is kinda the same so what the heck ¡°Let¡¯s go then¡± After confirming that his legs is working properly enough to run like hell in case anything bad happen, And so Jade begin to explore the darkness of the Eins, minding his step to not make loud noise and generally being all silent and sneaky, away from any watchful eyes that might notice him ¡®The monster¡­..will probably asleep by now¡¯ While thinking about that, Jade slash another tree to his right, marking it so that he knew the way back and not get lost like some kind of idiot that get stranded in a forest just because he¡¯s busy running around from an Ogre. Ah well. ¡°Now, where do I find food around here?¡± Mumbling that, Jade glanced at the tree around him, hoping to find some fruits he can safely eat without being poisoned or worse Like death for example, that certainly worse than being poisoned. Wait, he¡¯s getting off track here ¡°None eh?¡± Sighing at this, Jade then glance at the suspicious looking mushroom near the tree debating whether to risk eating it or not ¡°-No, let¡¯s not go there yet¡± Jade eventually decided, He¡¯s not desperate enough to eat some shady mushroom he finds in the ground, at least not yet. Jade then continue his trek throughout the silence of the Forest of Eins, still looking for relatively safe things he can eat without worry Eventually Jade decided to find some river of sort, thinking that not only it will give him source of water, it probably filled with all kind of fish that he can eat. Probably Don¡¯t know for sure though But at least it¡¯s better than wandering alone in the forest and possibly meeting or accidentally wake up some monster that will surely kill Jade. ¡­¡­man it seems that recently his life consist only of ¡®At least it¡¯s better than¡¯ phrase. ¡®Damn it this is why I should get stronger quickly¡¯ Just as soon as he thinks of that, footsteps sound reaches his ears. Judging from its light step though, Jude thinks that it¡¯s unlikely that it belong to a heavy class monster like Ogre or something similar But even then- ¡®Shit¡¯ Remembering his previous encounter with the Ogre, Jade eventually decide to hide in the shadow of the trees, making sure to not being caught while he observe the monster that about to close on him And he did not have to wait long, because as soon as Jade finish hiding, a figure come out from the darkness of the tree ¡®-a goblin¡¯ Just as Jade said, standing in there is a single goblin. Its green head are turning around left and right searching for the prey that it smell earlier There¡¯s nothing unusual about the goblin itself as far as Jade see. The usual green skin, no taller than 150 cm, and in its right hand a slab of wood that it probably use as a club is still stained with some blood. It¡¯s wearing some short of a animal skin that cover its lower half while a pouch of sort is hanging from his wait The Goblin still hasn''t notice him yet so should he make a run for it? -and just as Jade as soon as Jade think of that his face immediately turn sour Run? From a goblin? A monster that¡¯s barely qualifies to be called a monster? Sure The Goblin can kill him but Jade too has the same chance of killing him That¡¯s right, isn''t his dream is to become strong? Strong enough so that he can live however the hell he want without anybody to restrain him? So why do he sneak in the shadow like this then? So why do he try to avoid every fight then? If it were strength he want then wouldn''t he need to train like a mad man everyday in his life? If he want to become more powerful, isn¡¯t a real life combat the best way to do it? He should know already that a normal training he do every day in his life simply doesn¡¯t cut it, his defeat in the hands of the Demon and The Ogre should be enough proof of that So why then he even thinking of running away from a goblin when he have a clear advantage over it? Question upon question come to Jade¡¯s mind and for every questions that appear Jade¡¯s resolve and determination grow stronger than ever before That¡¯s right, this is what he wanted to do this is what he SHOULD DO, If he doesn''t have enough experience in fighting Jade simply need to gain one, If he doesn''t have enough strength to defeat a goblin then he simply NEED TO GET IT! With that last shout in his mind Jade begin to move forward, a determined look in his face, a small dull knife in his right hand, the eyes that see nothing but his target- - And the shining hope of a boy who wishes for a change . . . . . ¡°Huh¡­huh¡­.huh¡± While Jade is gasping for breath as he lay sprawled on the ground , chuckles slowly escape from his mouth ¡°Haha¡­haha¡­.shit, I really¡­am weak¡± As Jade said that, he takes glances at the unmoving corpse beside him. The knife he previously hold is stuck firmly on the corpse right eye while its neck are practically crushed Then, ever so slowly his chuckle into grow stronger and eventually turn into a full blown laugh ¡°-ahahahaAHAHAHAHAHA!! I WIN! I WIN!¡± It is without a doubt an unremarkable achievement if you could even called it that. But even so, for him who was previously keep on running, for him who keep on experiencing defeat This win feels like the greatest achievement he''ll ever receive ¡° I WIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!¡± And so Jade¡¯s continue his shout of victory toward the heaven with no sign of stoppi- *GROWL* ¡°¡­¡­¡­¡± His stomach apparently reminds Jade the reason why he wandering alone in the middle of the night in the first place ¡°¡­¡­.right, food¡± Slowly getting up from the ground, Jade dust off the dirt and soil that stain his clothes *GROWWWLL* ¡° I know shut up for second¡± *GROOOOWWWWLLLLLL* ¡° I said I know! I¡¯m looking for food now!¡± *GROWL* ¡°Damn stomach While grumbling about his ungrateful stomach, Jade¡¯s gazes once again lies on the shady mushroom he¡¯s previously found ¡°¡­¡­Damn it do I have no other choice?¡± His energy all but spend from his fight with the Goblin, Jade couldn¡¯t possibly go looking for a river like his earlier plan. Sighing once again, Jade pull out his knife from the Goblin¡¯s corpse ¡°¡­.Ah¡± Then, a revelation suddenly hit him ¡°I wonder how Goblin¡¯s meat tastes like?¡± . . . . After an uneventful event in the Forest of Eins save for one Goblin and one Human, the dawn finally arrive, bringing with it the sun that seems to debate whether it worth the effort or not to rise high in the sky The monster and wild beast alike have started to woke up, ready to do whatever it is that they usually do It¡¯s supposed to be a usual day like usual, the same cycle of kill or be killed and this is day is no different The only different perhaps, that a new player has join this cycle Making sure that the pouch and the potion is wraps safely in his waist Jade finish his last check on all of his equipment, confirming that there¡¯s nothing he forgot ¡°Right, all set¡± Letting out a smile, Jade set his sight on his new training ground This is it, this is his time He¡¯s going to get so strong that even a [Hero] wouldn''t be able to scratch him! ¡°Let¡¯s do this!¡± -And so begin the first chapter of Jade¡¯s adventure Oh, and if anyone wondering, The Goblin¡¯s meat didn''t taste THAT bad ------------------------------------------- Well''s that the end of the third chap then.
