《Royal Rebirth》 Chapter 1 leaving everything behind Chapter 1 leaving everything behind. Bzzzzt!bzzzt!bzzz*thump* "I''m up already" with a yawn David rolled out of bed and got ready for work. During his drive to work he listened to his favorite radio station. "Welcome back everyone to GNR." (Game Nation Radio) "Today we have some hot new''s about the game company that has taken the world by storm. In case you have been living under a rock Unicorn unveiled Royal Road to the world one year ago and nothing has been the same since. For those of you who are regular listener''s you are already aware that Unicorn has dropped a bombshell early this week for those of use in the USA." "Unicorn has announced they will be giving one lucky person a free capsule and a life time subscription! So if anyone is feeling lucky sign up at..." As I pulled in at work I thought back to when I first heard of royal Road. A VR game which promised complete freedom and the use of all five sense''s and the ability to move just as you do in real life. Many where skeptical that Unicorn had the capability to achieve such a feat. But as time went on and people began playing and realizing that Unicorn had achieved what they claimed. The early question''s of how did Unicorn achieve this? Was quickly drowned out by the inferno that consumed the gaming world and none gaming world alike. Of all the games I played that touted player freedom none have ever lived up to that promise. But the more I learned about Royal Road the more I wanted to walk and breathe in it''s world. Last year I wanted to buy a capsule so bad I could not stand it. As it happened I did have the money to get one but the money had been saved up for year''s for buying a home outright. So even though I could not stand waiting for royal road I forced myself to stick with my plan for owning a home. If I wanted I could get a loan at anytime to get the capsule but I absolutely refused to go into debt for anything. Which is why it took year''s to buy my car and later my home. However a capsule did not cost nowhere near as much so it would take only one more year of saving to have enough to by a capsule. Even though it did not cost as much as a house it still cost ten thousand dollar''s, not to mention the three hundred dollar monthly fee! So when this giveaway was announced I jumped on within the first hour the website was up for registering. While I had no hope''s of actually winning the giveaway it was still something to distract myself with considering how boring and aimless my life currently was. As I pulled in at work I considered for at least the dozenth time what I would do if I did win the giveaway. There was the obvious option of trying to be what most refer to as a dark gamer. Dark gamer''s have always been in the background of gaming earning money from selling in game item''s. It has only been in recent year''s that selling in game item''s had been made legal. Royal Road is the only game I new of that item''s reached several thousand dollar''s in auction''s. But it would take quite some time to catch up to those that have been playing for a year already. Since I would need to spend all my time just trying to catch up to other player''s. Time that is needed for work so being a dark gamer was not feasible. Thinking about that I shook my head there was no point in thinking about this stuff since there was no way I would actually win the giveaway. As I walked inside I decided not to think about the giveaway anymore and just focus on saving the money for a capsule. As I walked down the hall and entered the office space I saw Nathon already shutting down his work station for the shift change. "Hey Nathon already leaving for the night?" Nathon turned around with a startled look and said. "Jeez don''t sneak up on me like that!" With a grin I apologized and asked. "So you going home already that''s a little unusual for you?" Now that I thought about it Nathon did seem a little jumpy. "Yes I have some stuff I need to take care of so I cant hang out tonight sorry." "That''s alright we can catch up tomorrow night so don''t worry about it." "Alright then I will be going then good night." After that Nathon practicality ran out. I was puzzled by Nathon''s behavior but brushed it off, I went over and turned my work station on. Normally Nathon would hang out for an hour or two and we talk about what we had the most interest in which happened to be Royal Road. Like me Nathon did not have a capsule so the closest we got was the forum''s, video''s and learning as much about Royal Road as we could. Since our job''s are server maintenance tech''s Nathon had second shift and I had third shift we where pretty much the only people in the building. So we could Talk, read forum''s and watch video''s as much as we wanted since server maintenance amounted to nothing more than applying update''s and waiting for something to go wrong. The most excitement and constant speculation we got for work was when a new client installed one of there server''s and the client was none other than Unicorn! The biggest source of speculation on the sever they installed was that only a power cable was connected and no one could figure out how it connected to Royal Road and it''s capsule''s. My personal theory is they are using a quantum entanglement network which would explain why the only thing that was plugged into the server''s and capsule''s was a power cable and why there was zero lag for all Royal Road user''s. (Arthur''s note:This is a real thing check it out.) As I settled in for the night shift I pulled up the server status list on one screen and the Royal Road forum''s on the other. As I started browsing the forum''s for the latest event''s I came across a post saying another guild war had broken out as well as tax''s being raised in the central continent again. *sigh* With all the crap the guild''s pull in the central continent war''s, tax''s and charging non guild member''s to use hunting ground''s. There''s no way I would start in the central continent. I would be better off with choosing a area well outside there influence. While this had the downside of not having access to the central continent''s more advanced technology however the upside to starting in a area with little to no large guild presence had the benefit''s of not having to worry about paying tax''s to any guild or having to pay to use any hunting ground''s I came across. In addition the guild''s of the central area kept access to many quest''s under a iron grip forcing many to pay ludicrously high price''s or join the guild''s in order to gain access to them. While Royal Road does generate new quest''s constantly these new quest are only able to be taken by a few before one guild or another take''s it for themselves. With all that in mind it would seem the best place to start would be the citadel of Serabourg in Rosenheim kingdom that was somewhat recently discovered. With only very small guild''s present that appears to be the best option for now but by the time I buy''s a capsule next year Rosenheim kingdom may have been overrun by the guild''s. *Sigh* By the time I get a capsule two year''s will have passed since the release of Royal Road which amount''s to eight year''s in game! This was one of the key reason''s for Royal Road''s addictive nature for every hour spent in this world four would pass in Royal Road. This has been the source of a lot of chaos in the early day''s of Royal Road as no one knew about it. The guild''s that first realized the time difference took advantage at the first chance they had. The most notable of these guild''s was the Hermes guild they where one of the very first to figure out the time difference and with there temporary advantage they wiped out several competing guild''s. After these event''s it became common practice for guild''s to make sure they had as many of there member''s in Royal Road as possible at all time''s. The more I think about it the the more I realize there''s not a chance in hell for me to catch up! Getting depressed I started thinking about the giveaway once more. Was there a chance I could win? No shaking my head there was no way I could my chance of winning was about one in three hundred and sixty two million! With the announcement of the giveaway nearly the entire country signed up for the giveaway those that didn''t where already playing Royal Road. Thinking about my odds I got more depressed. Damn shame there wasn''t a way for me to rig the giveaway I thought.... WAIT A MINUTE!! Eye''s wide I sprung out of my chair like a coiled spring and ran full tilt to the back server room. I was feeling a little winded by the time I got there but there it was the Unicorn server that was installed two week''s ago. A big black tower stood in the center of the room it dwarfed everything else in the room this could be my ticket to winning the giveaway! Many had already tried hacking the many site''s that held the giveaway but to no avail those site did not hold any connection to the main server that held the information for the giveaway this sparked a lot of question''s as to how Unicorn managed such a thing but as with Royal Road itself they weren''t saying anything. But as luck would have it I had something the hacker''s didn''t. Direct access to a Unicorn server! as I started looking around the server for anyway to open it I noticed two thing''s one was the server didn''t emit any heat which I found a little odd. The second was I found several scratch marks around the server thinking no more of it than carelessness of the installer''s I continued looking for a way in for the next ten minute''s but to no avail. Getting frustrated I began thinking of way''s to force my way in, a screw driver could work I thought so I went over to the tool kit they had in the server room, one moment I was looking for a screw driver the next I stopped dead. What the hell am I thinking?! As if coming out of some thick fog and starting to think clearly I began cursing myself. Idiot letting desperation take over like that! Turning around I left the server room without a second look. Making my way back to my work station I sat down....*sigh* Man I''m such a idiot the more I calmed down the more I realized that getting into the server would be pointless. Unicorn was bound to have any number of alarm''s and safety''s in place for just this kind of situation. As I continued grumbling at myself the hours trickled by I began to think of the announcement of who would win the giveaway that would be broadcast in a little over an hour. My shift ended in about forty five minute''s so I should hear who won on my way home. The last five minutes of my shift felt like an eternity with ants crawling on my skin with one minute to go I had already shut down my work station for the night and was waiting for the day shift to show up. The moment I heard the door open I was up and moving in a instant I was already entering the hall by the time Brad was only halve way through the hall. Surprised at seeing me on the move already he step to the side to let me pass he called out. "Hey whats the the rush David?" "Sorry Brad gotta run!" If Brad had anything else to say he didn''t get the chance since I was already out the door. I more or less ran over to the car impatient to hear the announcement when I finally got in and turned on the radio I was both annoyed and disappointed when all I heard was a commercial. *sigh* Looking at my watch I realized I still had ten minutes till the broadcast feeling a little embarrassed with the way I was acting I started the car and left for home. By the time the announcement started I was stuck in morning traffic but any annoyance I felt was swept away the moment the broadcast started. "Good morning everyone! and welcome back to GNR I am sure you have been waiting for the announcement of the giveaway with baited breath!" That''s a understatement I thought. "Needless to say this is the biggest giveaway event that anyone has ever held with million''s upon million''s signing up for this event". "Would you just say the name already!" I demanded while siting at a intersection waiting for the green light it felt like I was crawling out of my skin. "So without further ado the name you have all been waiting is here! The winner of Unicorn''s giveaway is!..." I was holding my breath waiting for him to say it. "Nathon holmes!!!" "The winner of Unicorn''s giveaway is Nathon holmes everyone! This has been one hell of a ride but at long last it is finally ove" *click*....*Sigh*... "Finally it''s over." It didn''t surprise me that I didn''t win but I couldn''t help but get worked up over it. As the light finally turned green and traffic started to move I began to relax. Well with this over I can get bac.. My thought''s stopped dead in there tracks as the last thing I heard was a truck horn blaring in my ear''s. *Beep..beep..beep..beep...* Freezing that was my first thought when I started waking up. It felt like I had ice water running in my veins while I could feel blankets laying on me but it still didn''t stop me from shivering. I tried opening my eyes but they felt like they had lead weights attached in addition I felt numb all over and couldn''t move at all. I had know idea how long I stayed like that it could have been minutes or hours for all I knew. Eventually I began growing warmer and after I felt better I tried opening my eyes once more. first thing I could see was a bright white ceiling as I started looking around I realized I was in a hospital room. -Why am I here?- My mind felt sluggish as I tried to figure out why I was here a nurse walked in the room. "Oh you''re awake" as she walked over I tried asking why I was here but all that came out was a small groan. "Hey don''t try to talk yet your still recovering from surgery so hold tight while I get the doctor." Surgery? Surgery for what?! Starting to feel more than a little uneasy I tried to look down at the rest of my body but couldn''t move my head all that well. It must be the sedatives from the surgery still in my system. As I was contemplating what had happened before I woke up the doctor finally showed up. "Hello good to see you up now lets take a look at you." As the doctor started looking at the monitors that where next to my bed I started getting anxious about finding out what happened. Moving from the monitors he took out a pen light and examined my eyes next up he pulled out my right arm and checked my pulse. At this point I felt a little relieved as he was checking my pulse I could feel the pressure and I could flex my hand a tiny bit though it was still pretty numb. At this point I managed to speak up but it came out more like a croak. "What happened?" "I see you don''t remember well you where in a car accident the driver of the truck that hit you had a heart attack that''s what caused the wreck, unfortunately he did not survive." "I see." The last thing I remembered was driving home so it being a car accident that landed me here wasn''t to much of a surprise. But next came the question that made me uneasy. "How bad is it?" With a grim look he reached down and raised the head of the bed and started to pull aside the blanket. The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement. "It would be easier to show you." As I saw more of what was under the blanket it felt like I had ice running in my veins again. To my horror I saw what remained of my body. I maybe alive but the crash destroyed my life. My left arm was cut off from the elbow, my left leg only had halve its calve remaining and my right leg was gone from the kneecap down. Seeing all this at once was to much to take in. I stared at what remained and felt my body going back to being just as numb as when I first woke up. The doctor had been talking to me for some time but realized I wasn''t hearing any of it so he put his hand on my shoulder and gave it a firm squeeze then left the room. As I was staring at what remained of myself I tried to think of a way to restore my life. If this had been twenty or thirty years ago I may have been able to afford prosthetic limbs but health care had become so bad and expensive that the average person struggled to pay just medical insurance let alone any medical bills they may have. I had no means of getting even one prosthetic limb let alone three not to mention the cost of the surgery that was already done. I could see no way out of this hell I found myself in. For a week I struggled to find a solution but couldn''t think of anything that could help me. But things just got worse I had been out cold for two days after the surgery, so when I called work to let them know what happens I learned I had been fired for not showing up and not answering any calls. And it seemed no one bothered to call them to let them know what happened while I was knocked out. No amount of pleading would get them to undo it since all the paperwork had already been processed. But I am convinced the real reason they won''t reverse it is so they didn''t have to deal with my mess. During the second week I had a unexpected visitor. *Knock knock*Looking over I saw a asian man in a suit standing at the door. "Hello may I come in?" I was more than a little confused as to who this was so I asked the first thing that came to mind. "May I ask who you are?" "Of course my name is Yoo Byung Jun(Seen in Vol 14 Ch 11 of LMS) I am a representative of Unicorn corporation. You are Jonathon D. Kirk correct?" I was dumbfounded why did Unicorn send a representative to me? "Yes that''s me come in I am at a bit of a loss why has Unicorn sent a representative to meet me?" With a surprised look Yoo Byung said. "You don''t know?" "I am afraid I don''t." (DK) "I see you are aware I assume that you were hit by a truck?" (YB) "Yes I was told that when I first woke up but not much else." (DK) "I see they must not have known that it was one of our shipping truck''s that hit you." (YB) *chuckles* (DK) "I am sorry but what is so funny?" Yoo Byung had a perplexed look on his face. "It''s just that I find it amusing that Royal Road a company that brings the opportunity to live a new life has more or less claimed my own. So you could say it''s a little bit of dark humor at my own expense." (DK) "That''s quiet a interesting point of view to have considering you current situation." (YB) "Well they say in time''s like this you can laugh or cry and at this point I just feel numb so all I have left is humor for whatever that is worth." (DK) For a time Yoo Byung just stared at me then said. "You are a unusual man most people in your situation would either yell and curse in anger or wallow in despair." "To be honest I have no choice but to accept my situation so anger and despair are useless to me." (DK) -That and I have already gone through both so much lately I am pretty much burned out but he doesn''t need to know that- "Well enough of this depressing talk what has brought you hear?" (DK) "Ah yes I haven''t even got to the point of my visit have I? My purpose is to render assistance in this time of crisis. Even if the event''s that lead to this situation were out of everyone''s control regardless of that action must be taken to help in any way that can be done." (YB) Hearing this I could not help but feel a little shred of hope. Hope which had eluded me since I woke up after the crash and left me in despair. I couldn''t believe that this was happening and it sounded to good to be true. There must be a reason for them to go out of there way to do this, racking my brain the only thing I could think of was that they were doing this to prevent a PR nightmare. Thinking along those line''s there must be string''s attached to this help they were offering and so I asked. "What kind of help are you wanting to give?" Yoo Byung noticing the reserved look I had went on to say. "First we would like to pay for all medical expenses in addition we would assist you in acquiring prosthetic limbs and subsequently aid you in acquiring new employment." Once again I was dumbfounded what they offering went far beyond what I imagined I couldn''t believe it they weren''t just throwing out a token gesture they were actually piecing my life back together! But Yoo Byung''s next words had the feeling of the other shoe dropping. "There is one other thing." With a cold pit starting form in my stomach I asked. "One other thing?" "We would like to offer a alternative to prosthetic limbs." (YB) Thrown of balance by not having the expected shoe dropping there was a pause before I asked. "How can there be a alternative to prosthetic''s? As far as I know the only thing that you could be referring to is growing new limbs through stem cell''s. And that was banned world wide ten years ago after a production lab became contaminated with a virus which lead to the death''s of over 4,000 people." With a surprised look Yoo Byung said. "It would seem your current situation has lead you to do some research in these matter''s. However we are not using stem cell''s to grow body parts then crudely attache them in a Frankenstein manner. With our procedure if successful will help your body regenerate you limbs on it''s own." It would seem I am being left dumbfounded more and more as this conversation went on. "I know that some lizards, spiders and starfish have that ability but not humans. Short of some sort of gene therapy or splicing I am not sure how you can accomplish this feat. And from what you say this sound''s experimental?" "Once more you surprise me but there is no gene therapy or splicing and you are correct the treatment is experimental and as such I cannot discuss the detail''s. Should you decide to accept this offer there are some detail''s you need to know." (YB) I couldn''t help but be curious no stem cell''s, gene therapy or splicing these were the only way I could think of to accomplish what he was claiming. "So what detail''s do I need to be aware of?" "First the treatment will take a full year to finish second do to the nature of the treatment no drugs can be permitted in your system. As you can imagine for someone in your condition not having any pain medicine you would be in constant agony on top of the pain of regrowing new limb''s which leave''s us with two option''s." (YB) I was beginning to feel light headed from everything I was hearing taking a treatment that would have me in constant agony for a full year did not appeal to me in the slightest but there is a way around that. A drug induced coma had the upside of me not having to deal with the pain but had the very real risk of them not being able to bring me out of a year long coma. It would be better to go with the prosthetic limbs than take such a huge risk but Yoo Byung said there was two option''s and for the life of me I couldn''t figure out the second so I went on to ask. "The two options being?" "The first being a drug induced coma which would allow us to side step the pain problem but run the risk of not being able to bring you out of it at the end of the treatment." (YB) I nodded my head I expected as much. "The second being we intercept the information the body is sending to the brain and supply our own in formation." (YB) For a moment I couldn''t believe what I was hearing what he was saying is what is at the heart of the technology that made them world famous! I nearly stuttered when I asked. "Do you mean you want me to?" With a smile Yoo Byung said. "Yes Mr. Kirk for one year in this world you would be living in Royal Road for four year''s." Stunned I couldn''t say anything for several minute''s it never occurred to me that Royal Road could be used in such a way the implication''s for this where enormous. Yoo Byung went on to say."However do to the nature of this treatment there will two severe drawback''s for you. At this point I would accept anything even to the point of being stuck in the starter city for the duration would be acceptable."And these drawback''s are?" "First I am sure you are aware of the fact that those that travel in Royal Road do not receive the same pain as they would in this world. However you will not be able to enjoy this advantage. We cannot risk your mind becoming accustomed to such reduced pain if we did let that happen after you return to this world even a simple paper cut could be severely painful. Second you are aware that if someone die''s in Royal Road they are forced to return to this world under normal circumstance''s this would be fine but do to the nature of your treatment if you die..." (YB) I knew what he was implying. "If I die there then I will wake up without any way to cope with the pain of my treatment and while pain alone wont kill me it could lead to severe complication''s that could." With a nod Yoo Byung said, "You are correct I would understand if you wish to play it safe and proceed with prosthetic limb''s. I know this is a lot to take in all at once so will return tomorrow to hear your answer." With that he got up to leave but before he made it to the door I said. "Mr.Yoo Byung thank you." With a smile he said. "I look forward to tomorrow." Then he was gone with everything that just happened I felt exhausted but my mind was going nuts with the possibility''s. After a few hours of thinking I had a plan of action the only thing I was worried is if Yoo Byung would grant my request. By noon the next day Yoo Byung returned. "Good after noon Mr.Kirk I hope this day finds you well?" (YB) With a smile I replied. "It does indeed and I have made my decision." "And what is your decision Mr. Kirk?" (YB) "I will take the experimental treatment with the option of living in Royal Road. I do have one request I would like to make." (DK) Yoo Byung With a single eyebrow raised (Think of a Vulcan xD)"And what is your request?" Taking a deep breath I made my request. "I would like to have access to the internet from within Royal Road." Leaning back into his chair Yoo Byung simply stared for a few minutes then at last said. "I am sure you are aware that we do not allow anyone to access the internet for the purpose of preventing anyone from tampering with Royal Road." With a nod I said. "I understand and I would not be asking this if I wasn''t going to be in Royal Road for such a long period of time. However I will be spending four years in that world and I have three reason''s for my request. First if I have no interaction with this world for four whole years I believe it will make the transition back very difficult. Second this will provide you a means to inform me of any complication''s that may arise in my treatment. Third is more of a selfish one on my part I know you are willing to assist me in acquiring new employment but I would like the chance to support myself. I understand your reluctance in granting this request. If it helps you to grant my request you can restrict the access I have to any site you deem unfit." After I finished I could only hope that my reasoning was enough.
Yoo Byung contemplated the request for halve an hour. From the moment he first heard the request he new the young man wanted the chance to make money. What he did not expect was for him to be upfront on the matter and the other reasons he put forth were well thought out including his willingness to be cut off from anywhere he deemed unfit. He wasn''t expecting such honesty so he thought it will be fine to grant his request. "Very well Mr. Kirk I will grant your request now if there is nothing else it is time for us to move you to a facility that is properly equipped for our needs." I was elated with this I would have a much better time in Royal Road! "Thank you sir for granting my request. Please take this I have already written down my Royal Road name and starting location." Yoo Byung took the note and said. "Very well lets get started." He walked over to the door and called in a few men. As they began to prep me for the transfer I realized that Yoo Byung knew from the first moment he showed up that this would be my choice. As one of the men gave me a injection in just a few moments I was already feeling sleepy then Yoo Byung said. "The next time you wake up Mr. Kirk you will be in Royal Road." __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ As his men began wheeling the young man out of the room he was glad he was not asked why it took two weeks for Unicorn to send someone sooner for such a serious matter. In truth they did not know that any of this has happened he manged to intercept the information so that only he new of this matter not even the media new this had transpired. he was also glad the young man did not ask if a different VR environment could be made available. And last while he did have some surprising insight on how the treatment might work but in reality Yoo Byung already knew that this treatment would regrow the young mans limbs without a problem that was not the experimental part of his treatment. What was experimental was how the treatment would interact with him being in Royal Road. He was very interested to see what end result will be. END Hello everyone I hope you enjoyed this prologue! This is the very first time I have ever sat down and written a story so I apologies if there are any errors that I failed to weed out. After Vol 20 of LMS was completed I was left foaming at the mouth for more so I started writing a story of my own to interweave with LMS. As you may have seen above Yoo Byung Jun Is a real character from LMS itself there will be time''s where a item, skill, person, event, etc will come up and you might see this (Source/seen Vol X Ch X) That way if it seems like if you see something that doesn''t add up you can see if the source comes from LMS our my own twisted mind. There will be some event''s that happen that are inspired by some random piece of info from LMS. For example (SPOILER warning for LMS) there is a point in which weed sends one his minions to gather a force to help defend a certain city and my character will encounter said minion. There will be a few things like this that can fill in the background of some of LMS but don''t worry I do have my own story to tell there is a bit of foreshadowing right at the end of the prologue but that wont come up until much much later. By the way if anyone hasn''t found them yet JawzTranslations has continued translating LMS so far they have finished vol 21 and are now starting 22! Also the original LN they are working on Zectas is really fun to read and who would have guessed a beggar could be so awesome? Nailing down details and laying the foundation. Now on to something that has me pulling my hair out there are a few thing''s i have been debating over concerning skills and stats i want to be as close as i can to the source material as i can but there a some stuff that has me confused especially Endurance this one stat has gone by two other names that i can remember which are Fortitude/Patience i am pretty sure these are not separate stats if they are please let me know. I have seen many comment''s all through LMS saying how Weed''s stats jump all over the place nearly every ch/vol. I would like to keep as consistent as possible for that i need your input. lvl 1 stat''s(Human) Health 100 Mana 100 Strength 10 Agility 10 Stamina 10 Wisdom 10 Intellect 10 Luck 0 Leadership 0 Attack 0 Defense 0 Magic Resistance Fire 0% Water 0% Earth 0% Black Magic 0% (Source Vol 1 Ch 2 ) Lets keep in mind this is at lvl 1 Lets start with strength this affect''s carry weight and attack power. First lets do carry weight i have done some checking and depending on the person they can carry anywhere from 20-70% of there weight. i don''t think i want to figure out how much my guy weighs considering the missing limbs and all >.> would it be okay to start at a flat 100 lbs? With that we can say that for every 1 point in strength you can carry 10 lbs. Now on to attack this one is very tricky since we need to figure out how much health i can have my guy take down bare handed and with a weapon. Let focus on the max health i can take down with what i got. Bare hand''s damage should it be 1-5 for each point in strength? Keep in mind this is before any skills or class''s that can effect it. Now weapon''s will be even harder to set up since they have a damage value of there own we need to deiced how powerful they are before we add our strength stat to the mix. Should the damage of a weapon take 1-10 health for each damage point it has? In addition we know that there are weapon''s that have a strength requirement for example. Hard Iron Sword:(Seen in Vol 1 Ch 4) Durability: 54/54 Damage: 10-14 Awarded to those who completed the Basic Training Program. This widely-used long sword is better than basic type weapons that are available in a blacksmith¡¯s workshop. Equip:+10 STR Requirement:STR 40+ VIT 35+ The strength requirement does raise an interesting question is the strength required to use the weapon factored into additional damage or not?I think this should cover strength for now. Agility i think this just effect''s the general speed at which you can move for more precise movement dexterity and a foot work skill are needed i think please feel free to chime in on this. Now we need to figure out how fast a single agility stat makes us. According to the National Council on Strength and Fitness, the average human can run at the speed of 15 miles per hour for short periods of time. Support the author by searching for the original publication of this novel. As of 2014, the fastest foot speed on record is 27.44 miles per hour set by Usain Bolt. (thank you google xb)So with this can we say for every 10 agility we can run at a increase of fifteen mile''s an hour? Stamina this one i really have no clue about how to use. In LMS it seems to only come up during time consuming battle''s when weed is running for a week strait or when he is clearing a dungeon with his friend''s much to there dismay lol xD. Wisdom now this one seems to pull double duty it''s primary task mana regen secondary increasing the mana pool. Now for the life of me i cant find anywhere were they show anyone''s mana regen without using a % sign but if anyone knows the answer let me know. I will take a stab and say at lvl 1 the mana regen is 0.5 a second if this is to high or low please give your input. If i am right in thinking wisdom does increases the mana pool as a secondary effect i would like to say it take''s 20 point''s of wisdom to make 10 mana then again i could be wrong so let me know what you guy''s think. Intellect i am pretty sure all this does is increases the mana pool. i want to say since this is the primary source for mana unlike wisdom it only take''s 1 point of intellect to make 10 mana. Again i would like your thought''s on this. Luck as far as i can tell this effect''s pretty much all skill success rate''s i think. the only way''s i know of in LMS to raise this is through spending stat point''s sculpting and fishing (Source Vol 9 Ch 2 ) if you guy''s have any idea''s on how else to raise it let me know i just might use it! Hmmmm a gambler perhaps? leadership allows use to command npc''s for war''s,battle''s,world domination(<.< who put that there?)and can be raised by commanding well in battle. Not much to say really. Attack i think this represents the amount of health you can take in one attack not including critical hit''s. Defense not to sure how this one work''s i know armor is used to form the base of the stat but does the endurance stat augment it? Also if a enemy''s attack power is lower than your defense do they do no damage or is it reduced to one?this is a really big one we need to think on since my character life kinda depends on your answer. (Yes you Bob don''t ask me how i know your name i just do James,Maria <.< i wouldn''t laugh if i was you this is on your head''s as well.) Well i know this has probably been a boring read for all of you but i hope this help''s cement the foundation of this particular fan fiction. Oh and before i forget i intend to use the world map found at Japtem for my area reference guide it seems to be the best out there. And can someone tell me the location of all the forbidden zone''s? It would look really stupid if i go to a area and all there is are cute bunny''s,squirrel''s and deer when there is supposed to be giant man eating spiders(<.< Uhmm please don''t let be any giant spider''s in LMS! X.X) Chapter 2 new beginnings Weightlessness this is what I felt when I first started waking up. Well at least it''s better than freezing I thought. When I opened my eye''s I was greeted with a unexpected site instead of a ceiling I was seeing star''s? As I looked around I realized I wasn''t imagining the floating sensation. I wasn''t in a bed but floating in a sea of star''s everywhere I looked was nothing but star''s. My first thought was that I was just dreaming but when I looked at myself I only had my right arm and the rest were stump''s most of the time when I dreamed these day''s I either had all my limb''s or I was in a nightmare with them being torn off these dream''s in particular were vivid and visceral. (Use your imagination.) So since I wasn''t being torn apart by anything I wasn''t sure if it was a dream or not so I pinched himself as hard as I could. As it turn''s out that was a bad idea I was definitely feeling pain so I wasn''t dreaming but for the life of me I couldn''t figure out what was going on. Racking my brain I think back to before I fell asleep I remember talking with Yoo Byung then men coming in the room then one of them injected me with some sort of sleep drug. Ah now I remember as a heard of sheep was running me over Yoo Byung said the next time I wake up I would be in Royal Road. But this was not what I was expecting as I floated amongst the star''s I couldn''t help but wonder. If I was in Royal Road right now did this mean that not only did a planet exist but an entire galaxy or universe? None of this was talked about in the forum''s I looked through concerning the intro sequence and it seemed that for all the millions of user''s the intro was the same. It was at this point I noticed a golden glow surrounding my severed limb''s at first I was confused as to what was happening then all three limbs started tingling at first it was minor but the feeling got stronger and stronger it felt like the time''s when a foot or leg feel asleep then you try to walk on it but it was about a hundred time''s stronger. It got to the point where it felt like I was going to pass out but just as fast at it came the feeling disapered when I opened my eye''s to see what happened I was stunned at what I saw. What once were nothing more than stump''s where now whole and complete limb''s! It didn''t end there as I reached over with my right hand and grabbed my left I was shocked to find that I could feel the touch with my left hand! The same was true for both leg''s and feet I knew I would have complete limb''s here in Royal Road but all I expected was for them to barely respond to my will. But this was far beyond my hope''s they not only moved like real limb''s but I could feel them! I couldn''t tell the difference between my right and left arm they both gave the same response the same went for both leg''s I couldn''t believe that it felt so real! It felt like my body was whole once more as i think back on everything that happened it felt like a flood gate of emotion opened and I broke down. All I had felt since I woke up after the crash was anger pain and despair but now for the first time I felt relief, joy and hope in overwhelming amount''s. I am unsure how long I was like that but after a while I manged to pull myself together. Feeling a little embarrassed I''m glad that I wasn''t thrown strait into a town to have this little melt down. At this point I noticed that at some point a planet appeared beneath me were did it come from? As I looked at the world below me I recognized one of the land mass''s it was the Versailles continent! I was looking at the world of Royal Road from on high and what I saw surprised me there wasn''t just one continent like many believed there were three other large continent''s I could see. This was really important information to have of course I couldn''t take advantage of it for quite some time but is still good to know. At this point I was wondering how I would get down there. As if in response to my thought''s a white light started to shine all around me at first it was faint but slowly became stronger. At the same time I felt a tremendous pressure on not just my body but my mind as well it had a similar feeling of being deep under water. When it got to the point where it felt like i was about to be crushed there was a shift in the pressure. Then I felt a presence it sounds weird but if anyone ever had the feeling that something was in the room with them but nothing was there it was that kind of feeling. But this was so much more as the strength of this being became stronger it''s mind briefly came into contact with mine. In that brief moment it felt like I was everywhere at once I could see myself and the entire world below from orbit and everything on and in the world. But it didn''t end there I also could see this entire solar system and it''s world''s and it kept going on and on system after system countless world''s where seen simultaneously until i could see the entire universe in my mind. It was only for a brief instant but it felt like a life time when it was over I was drenched in sweat. The experience was so profound I new if I wasn''t in Royal Road right now I would swear it was the mind of God that I felt. With no time to process what had happened a flash of white light blinded me. "FRESH FISH CAUGHT THIS MORNING GET IT WHILE IT''S GOOD!" "SELLING GOOD SWORD''S AND SHIELD''S ARM YOURSELF FOR BATTLE!" "LOOKING FOR LEVEL 30 MAGE AND WARRIOR FOR HUNTING!" From silent endless space to being thrown into the cacophony of a town square the shift was so violent it felt like I got whiplash. With so much happening around me I couldn''t focus on what just happened. As I became accustomed to all the noise the first thing I noticed was the smell! At first all I could smell was the fish that was being sold, how should I put it the smell was potent? After that I realized that I reeked of sweat thankfully no one was close enough to smell it. I began walking around at this point I had to keep a tight hold on my emotion''s. From all that I went through before Yoo Byung showed up I truly thought I would never walk again. So to be here walking around and actually feel my leg''s it was amazing. I just walked around for a hour just enjoying this simple act that I had been incapable of doing for so long. As I walked around I confirmed that I had been sent to my desired starting location the citadel of Serabourg in Rosenheim kingdom. After confirming I was were I wanted to be I wandered over to the training hall and poked my head in the first one to see me was the instructor he walked over and asked. "Are you here to train traveler?" I was definitely intimated by the instructor he was as big as a bear with muscle to match and was nearly two feet taller than me. "I am just exploring today but tomorrow I will begin training and I would like to know the name of the great master who teaches here." From my research i already knew his name but i didn''t want to pass up the chance to make a good impression. "HA! I don''t know about being a great master but I do oversee the training that happens here. My name is Docke Lancer and I look forward to seeing you tomorrow." (Source of name LMS Vol 5 Ch 4 & Vol 1 Ch 6 ) With a smile I said would be back tomorrow morning after leaving the training hall I started to feel hungry. So I sat down on a nearby bench and checked my inventory and found the expected barley bread. But with just one bite I put away the bread the reason being it was so bland! Anyone who had to spend any length of time in a hospital and had to eat the food would have had the same reaction I did. After enduring the food even for the somewhat short time I was there I could not stand barley bread. I set off to find a restaurant or food stand that served my favorite food. After about a two hour''s twelve restaurant''s and five food stall''s later I still haven''t found anyone that made the food I was looking for. I didn''t have to much time before I needed to eat the damn bread since if I let my saiety reach 0 I would die on the spot and that would be humiliating, not to mention a very possible real death sentence. After asking around I found a restaurant away from the main street''s there were some people sitting at the table''s outside hanging above the door was a sign bearing the name of Baratie as I walked in I was greeted by a hostess. "Hello I am Casandra can I help you?" "Nice to meet you my name is Dracoal I was hoping if I can see the menu." It will take a while to get used to being called by my new name. Surprisingly choosing my name was the hardest choice I had to make. I was torn between my normal fantasy name Cadagon (AN:If anyone can guess where this name is from you get a cookie) or my secondary name Dracoal. As I would be solely going by this name for the next four year''s I decided to go with Dracoal simply because it was less of a mouthful. Normally I reserved the Dracoal name for game''s that had a playable reptilian race. At this point I was given the menu and after a few moment''s I resigned himself to the fact I would not find my favorite food. *Sigh* "Thank you for your help Casandra but it seems I have to give up on finding anyone that make''s the food I want." Seeing my downcast face she said. "If no one is making the food you want have you considered asking the cook to make you this food?" Surprised by what she said I asked. "Wait are you saying I could have done this hour''s ago?!" With a smile she said. "Not quite you normally need to be on good terms with a cook to do that. but lucky for you my father is the chef so go into the back and tell him I sent you." "Thank you so much Casandra I haven''t had my favorite food in so long!" With a smile I walked into the back when I entered the kitchen I looked around but couldn''t find the chef. "Hello chef? Casandra sent me I want to request a special food." As I walked over to a cutting board I ran a hand across it to check for dust. And no sooner had my hand touched the cutting board there was a *THUNK,THUNK* sound looking down at where the sound came from I saw two rather large knives both embedded in the cutting board between my finger''s. !!@.@!! *Gyaaa!!* Backing up I suddenly felt a knife pressed against my throat. ~Oh shi...~ "What do you think you are doing in my kitchen?" The man''s voice was as cold as ice. Where did he come from!?! Needless to say I felt like I was about to die but I manged to squeak. "Casandra sent me here so I can request a food that no one is making." At this point I was very glad the creator''s of Royal Road did not include the need for people to use the rest room in game! Otherwise I might have humiliated myself by now. "And what make''s you think I will listen to your request?" At this point I was beginning to sweat bullet''s but before I could think of a good response a voice said. "Because I asked you to. Now put away the knife and behave yourself father." Casandra! At this point the knife had already disappeared much to my relieve. I turned around and looked at the man with the large and very sharp knives. He was just a little taller than me looked to be in his late sixty''s. There was three thing''s that I found a little odd the first his chef hat was very tall like three feet tall! Second his mustache was done up to the point were both side''s stuck strait out past the side''s of his head. Third instead of the normal shoe''s his were blood red. I had the feeling asking about these would not be a good idea. He turned to his daughter and asked. "Casandra what are you thinking sending this vagabond into my kitchen?" With a stern look Casandra said. "Don''t be rude father Dracoal said he couldn''t find anyone that make''s his favorite food. So I sent him to you so you can make the food he want''s." With a agitated look the cook said. "And do you intend to pay for his meal? This vagabond look''s like he doesn''t have a single copper to his name." I had forgotten I had no money to pay for anything. Thinking fast I said. "It is true I don''t have any money to pay for the food but I do have something you would value far more than coin." With a disbelieving look the cook responded. "And what could you possibly offer other than gold?" Despite what he said I knew I had piqued his interest. "Since no one anywhere else make''s this food you will be the only one with the recipe for some time. I can also provide you with some other recipe''s that you do not know." I knew this would be very tempting for the cook since a cook''s recipe''s were there life blood. I just hope he would accept the offer. Eying me with a look of suspicion he asked. "Are you a cook?" "No sir but as I grew up I learned how to make some food. I do know how some other food is made but haven''t made them myself." What I said is completely true I do know how to make some food. And I do have access to the net in this world so I can find out how many food''s are made but haven''t made them myself. Still having a look of suspicion the cook said. "Alright you will have your food but you are the one who will make it. As for payment I will decide how you will pay after you are done." I couldn''t help but smile I don''t have to eat barley bread! "Thank you sir you have my utmost gratitude!" With a smile Casandra said. "Thank you for helping him father." *Hmph* "Time for you to get back to the customer''s Casandra run along." After Casandra left the cook walked over to the cutting board and pulled out the two large knives and said. "Alright vagabond so long as you are in my kitchen you are to call me chef Zeff am I understood?" Enjoying the story? Show your support by reading it on the official site. Still happy with my having my neck in one piece and the chance to have my favorite food I said. "Yes chef Zeff!" With a cold smile Zeff said. "Good now that is out of the way let me make one thing clear make a mess of my kitchen or destroying anything then a cutting board wont be the one with my knife sticking out of it understood?" @.@'' I could only nod my head. "Good now get to work." Then Zeff turned around and returned to making food for customer''s. At this point I was thinking barley bread might not be so bad and was thinking of making a run for it but calling over his shoulder Zeff said. "Don''t think of running vagabond my daughter went through the trouble of making this happen and I will make sure it is seen through. Besides you wont get far anyway." ~Crap~ Resigned to my fate I started making my food. Let''s see flour, water, sauce, cheese good I have everything I need for the simple version lets get started. As I worked Zeff kept a watchful eye on me.
Seeing the vagabond at work Zeff determined the boy was telling the truth when he said he wasn''t a cook. His technique was sloppy and used to much water with the flower among other thing''s. When the boy offered food recipes Zeff was thinking he was a cook trying to get a apprenticeship from him. Many had tried but they where arrogant little brat''s that wouldn''t know the difference between a butter knife and a bread knife! While the boy was no cook he could tell he had some experience from the fact that the boy washed up before starting and gathered all the ingredients and tool''s he would use all at once. What Zeff couldn''t figure out was what the boy was making. One thing that did surprise him was when the boy took the dish he was working on and put it in the oven and started getting it ready. The oven is what usually frustrated the brat''s that wanted me to train them. But this boy was only puzzled for a moment or two before he started prepping it. "Hmm it will be interesting to see the result." After that Zeff focused back on his work.
At first everything was going good right up to the point I needed to use the oven I didn''t have a clue as to how to use it. Instead of asking and risk making Zeff mad and then becoming a pin cushion for his knives I went with option two. So I started calling out several commands in my head to call up a internet connection (Skill''s and command''s can be used without talking example Seo Yoon from LMS) after several tries I managed it with something simple. ~Internet~ With that I managed to connect what came up was a simple box saying input search command. Not quite sure what it meant I just wanted to know how to use this oven I thought. Next thing I know it brought up a information panel with every detail about the oven. After looking over how to use the oven I closed the window and got back to work. After getting the oven ready I put in the soon to be done food next I went around and cleaned up everything I used. after that I could smell that the food was done going over I took out the food and started to cut it into piece''s. At this point Zeff came over to inspect my handiwork after smelling the food from outside Casandra came in as well. When I finished cutting a window came up. *Ding*
You have created a new dish what do you wish to name it?
Smiling I gave the name of the dish then I got plate''s for me Zeff and Casandra after giving them a piece of the food I said. "Dig in!" With that I finally got to eat the food I have been craving foro so long. After seeing me eat with such relish Zeff and Casandra started eating. After the meal was over I was somewhat dismayed when Casandra asked for more and she managed to eat the most! At this point Zeff asked. "Dracoal what do you call this food?" With a smile I said. "It is called pizza chef Zeff and I thank you again for allowing me this chance to make it." Casandra chimed in. "It was so good can you make more?" I was at a lose for how to respond since she managed to eat halve the pizza on here own! But Zeff saved me from answering. "Casandra you have had enough as it is." This earned him a icy glare and she stormed off. ~Note to self never imply to a woman she has eaten to much~ Zeff went on to say. "Not the healthiest food one can eat but it is a very enjoyable meal nonetheless." I couldn''t help but smile at that and said. "More often than not the food that is unhealthy for you is often very satisfying." Zeff pondered that then said with a sinister smile. "Now that you have eaten it is time for me to tell you how you will repay your debt." At this I had a cold feeling form in my gut I remembered his knives embedded in the cutting board between my finger''s. "From tomorrow onward you will be making lunch for all of our customer''s until I say otherwise." ~Uh what?~ I was taken by surprise this is not what I expected. "I''m confused when I first showed up you didn''t want me in your kitchen. Now you want me to cook here?" Zeff''s smile practically became devilish. "Have you forgotten your offer of supplying me with recipe''s I don''t know?" ~Uh oh I did say that, did I just put myself in a slaveservant position?~ Seeing the look on my face Zeff laughed. "So you do remember so you cant refuse and you cant escape not that I would let you until I drain you dry hahaha." After that Zeff sent me on my way with a promise that if I did not show up the next day the result would be unpleasant. So with a few hour''s a day taken by Zeff for the foreseeable future I set off to explore more of Serabourg. After a few hour''s of exploring night started falling so I started looking for a place to sleep. But since I had no money for a inn and sleeping out in the open was just asking to be either robbed or killed in my sleep. It was the later that worried me the most so as night descended I was looking with increasing anxiety for a safe place to sleep when I heard. *Craaack!,thump, thump, thump* looking around I saw a tall two story building with a set of double door''s standing open walking over I heard a few more *thump''s* poking my head in I realized it was a library. Not seeing anyone I called out. "Hello?" *Thump* After hearing that I went in and started looking for the source for all the noise. After passing a few empty isle''s I found the source, a book shelf had collapsed and all the book''s fell into a big pile. Taking a closer look at the pile I could see a hand poking out from underneath the book''s. Concerned for the unlucky person I started taking the book''s from the top and put them off to the side. After a few minute''s of digging out the person I managed to get them out of the pile. It turned out the person was a elf from what I could tell the elf was male. Currently he was unconscious so I put him in a nearby chair. From what I could tell other than a few bumps and bruise''s he was fine so while waiting for him to wake up I went over and started stacking the fallen books in front of the broken bookshelf while I needed to find a safe place to sleep for the night I was hoping that the elf would let me spend the night here for helping him. By the time I finished stacking the book''s in alphabetical order (I know it sound''s silly but when your mom always bugs you when growing up to keep your book''s,game''s,movie''s,etc in alphabetical order it kinda stick''s with you xD) the elf had woken up and walked over and said. "I take it I have you to thank for helping me?" I nodded. "Yes sir how are you feeling?" With a smile he said. "Other than some bump''s,bruise''s and a headache I am doing quite fine. So what is your name young man?" Standing up and extending a hand I said. "My name is Dracoal sir it is a pleasure to meet you." Many player''s would never even bother with helping the elf unless a quest was involved let alone walk into a library unless they were a player wanting to be a mage. Even then if a library did not have the book''s needed to learn magic even those player''s ignored them. And from the time I entered to now not a single person had shown up so this look''s like one of those library''s that are ignored. As the elf took my hand and shook it he noticed the book''s from the collapsed shelf not just stacked but put in order as well with a smile he said. "It would seem you have helped me in more way''s than one. So how can I repay you for your help?" This is what I was hoping for so I went ahead and asked. "Thank you for the offer but I don''t want to deprive you of anything of value. But I have been looking for a place to safely spend the night and since I currently do not have a single copper to my name a inn is not a option and I have been at a loss at where I can find a safe place to sleep." Hearing this the elf nodded and said. "If it is safe lodging you seek there is a unused bed hear in the library that you can use for the night." I couldn''t help but break into a smile while most player''s would try to get as many item''s of value out of the elf as they could. I on the other hand had to think of mundane need''s rather than rewards I just hope I wont need to keep turning down reward''s in favor of simple survival. But at least I a had a safe place to sleep for tonight. "Thank you sir I am quite grateful if you have need help with anything I would be happy to assist." (D) The elf smiled at this and said. "You are welcome and please call me Oromis. If you want to continue to sleep here while you are in Serabourg you can help me with a simple task i haven''t had the time to deal with what do you say?" I was surprised at my luck since I was worried how I would resolve where I would sleep on a day by day basis. With his offer that concern was taken care of so doing some simple work for that was fine with me. Not seeing a problem with his offer I said. "Of course I accept your generosity but I feel I am getting the better end of your offer." Oromis just smiled. "No need to feel like that the work I will have you do is just a simple task I haven''t had the time to do. In fact it can be done in the same room you will be sleeping in so follow me to your room and I will show you what you will be working on from tomorrow onwards." After that Oromis lead me to a door at the back of the library. "Here we are it maybe a bit cramped at first but once you have made some progress in your work it should become more comfortable." At those word''s I became a little worried and once I followed Oromis into the room my first thought was. ~Oh crap~ At the back of the room there was a bed and a desk next to it but everywhere else there were countless stack''s of book''s from floor two ceiling and the book''s weren''t in the best condition in fact many were falling apart. ~Oh no don''t tell me that the simple task he hadn''t had time to do was...?~ With a sense of dread I asked. "Oromis do these book''s have anything to do with the work I will be doing?" With a smile that seemed positively devilish he said. "Yes indeed starting tomorrow you will be repairing all the book''s you see here. But that is for tomorrow so tonight go ahead and rest and thank you again for helping me. Good night Dracoal." With that Oromis left and I was left to rest, I laid down on the bed and started thinking about what I would be doing for the for the next month or two. Thankfully I didn''t have to worry about food and shelter I would be cooking at the Baratie during lunch not that I had a choice about that. It look''s like that repairing these book''s can be done in the evening before I went to bed. That left a large amount of time for me to use the training hall while many in my situation would simply stay in Serabourg until the four year''s had run it''s course and the risk of real death pass. But that would be a very big mistake one would just have to look at what is happening in the central continent to understand that. Every time guild''s battled over a city, bystander''s were killed by both side''s while after the battle the victor would apologies for the unfortunate loss of life. While on the surface it seemed there word''s were genuine but there had been to many video''s made showing that guild''s on both side''s would kill and loot without pity and remorse many even went out of there way to kill bystander''s and loot home''s and store''s. It was only a matter of time before guild''s would start to fight for control of the kingdom of Rosenhiem. And the rate at which guild''s were forming and expanding I can''t take the risk that it would take more than four year''s for a guild war to happen here in Serabourg. So in light of that I will need to become as strong as possible in order to survive the coming year''s and the first step to do that is the training hall. Before I went to sleep I wanted to checked my status.

"What the?" The status window showed me pretty much what I expected with the exception of the title section normally for a level 1 it should say none instead there were ???? I had no clue what that meant as far as I knew I had done nothing to earn a title. Well I guess I will find out what it is at some point but for now it''s time to sleep and with that I finally fell asleep from a eventful first day. END Well everyone I hope I have caught your interest with what I have written so far and I hope to get better as I go. With that said please point out any error''s you find and I will fix them as soon as I can. On a side note I came up with what I would think is a pretty cool class I got the idea from Yu Yu Hakusho do any of you remember the dark tournament and the ninja team they fight? The ninja that inspired this class was the one Kurama fought the tattooist demon. I think a class based on that concept would be pretty cool I dont think I will use the idea since my character is going in a different direction. So if anyone thinks they can do anything with it feel free to use the idea. I would like all the fanfic''s to interconnect since Royal Road is so massive it would be cool if character''s,skill''s,region''s,etc would crossover into each other. I think the LMS universe can become just as expansive as the star wars universe! Chapter 3 Establishing a routine *Thump* "Owww" Rubbing my head i got up from the floor falling out of bed might not be the best way to wake up but at least it''s a normal way to wake up instead of waking up amongst the star''s. Yawning i stretched afterwards i passed through the tower''s of book''s in my room and entered the library. I could smell something mouth watering following my nose i went up to the second floor and found that the library only covered halve of the second floor going to the back wall i looked around and spotted a open door this is where the pleasant smell was coming from. Walking over i could hear humming looking in i found Orimis cooking over a small stove not wanting to startle him i knocked on the door. *Knock,Knock* Looking over Orimis smiled. "Ah good morning Dracoal i trust you slept well?" Smiling i nodded. "I did indeed and thank you again for providing a place for me to sleep. And may i ask what are you making that smell''s so good?" Smiling Orimis said. "Thank you for the compliment i am making some stew for breakfast would you like to try some?" Before i could answer.*Grrrroooowwwllll* Orimis burst out laughing and my face quickly turned red chuckling Orimis said. "It would seem that would be a yes come sit and i will set out the food." Taking a seat and trying to shake off my embarrassment by the time i settled down Orimis had come back and gave me a bowl of his stew. Thanking him for the food i started eating the stew i was still amazed that royal road was able to recreate taste in this world. After the meal Orimis asked. "So Dracoal when would you like to begin repairing the book''s in your room?" Hearing that i started thinking when would be the best time to repair the mountain''s of book''s in my room the morning is not a option since it was taken by the training hall i would be spending most of my time there so i can complete it as fast as possible. The afternoon was taken by Baratie and i had no clue for how long Zeff would have me work for each day. So that would leave sometime in the evening to repair the book''s in my room with that in mind i said. "I hope beginning this evening would be agreeable to you. I had told instructor Lancer of the training hall i would be training starting today. And later during lunch i will be cooking for Zeff at Baratie. So with that said that leave''s the evening were i have free time so i hope this is agreeable." Orimis had a amused smile when he said. "Training to be a warrior and learning the cooking craft based on that one might say you are ether indecisive or lack focus." I couldn''t help but be more than a little irritated if this was a example of the reaction''s i would get from people if they learned what i was trying to do. While trying to keep the irritation out of my voice i asked. "And what do you think Orimis?" The amused grin Orimis had grew even bigger. "I intended no offense from my statement Dracoal so no need to feel so irritated. As for my personal opinion it looks like you intend to learn as many skill''s as you can." I couldn''t help but be surprised i had thought i had masked my irritation well but he could see right through it. But the greatest surprised came from the fact that he came very close to what my ultimate goal is. Contemplating what he said i decided to trust Orimis with both my original goal and my new goal. "Admittedly i was irritated at first by what you said but after you stated your opinion i can not help but be surprised that you came close to my original goal." Raising a eyebrow Orimis said. "Original goal?" Nodding i continued. "My original goal was to learn if it was possible for me to learn all skill''s and ability''s in this world. But that has taken a back seat do to my current situation. My main goal it to make sure i don''t die for the next four year''s." For a while Orimis had a pensive look eventually he stirred and said. "Your original goal is quite an ambitious one and most would say it cant be done. But the world is vast it''s mysteries endless with knowledge waiting to be learned so no one should say it cant be done. As for your new goal i am a little confused from what i can tell you are a freedmen sent by Gaea the holy seer."(Source Vol 1 Ch 10 wish i had more info on this) "And to my knowledge freedmen don''t die permanently they simply return after a few day''s of there death so can you explain why you are so set on not dieing for four year''s?" The response Orimis gave to my first goal was interesting it made me wonder if he tried something along the same lines. As for his question i was a little hesitant to try to explain my current situation since i had no idea if the creator''s of royal road would allow the npc''s to comprehend the true nature of there reality. But i decided to go ahead and tell Orimis my condition with that in mind i told him about the accident while leaving out the mention of vehicles then went on to tell him the subsequent state of my body and lastly the offer that was made and the reasons why dieing here had the likely chance to kill me for good. I did leave out the part were people in my world created his. Once more Orimis had a pensive look and the time he took to respond was even longer. "So the reason the freedmen keep resurrecting is because they are not in there real body''s only there mind''s cross over into this world that is very interesting. But i am perplexed why do you stress that you must survive for the next four year''s when you can simply reside here for that time to avoid any danger that could threaten you?" I couldn''t help but smile at that. "The reason is quite simple war is coming and it will be the freedmen guild''s that hold power in the central Continent that will bring it. The moment those guild''s became strong enough to do anything by force they started to attack each other for control. And battle''s for city''s usually result in many innocent causality''s." "It is my hope that does not happen here for many year''s to come but i need the strength and ability to survive these coming year''s. Once these four year''s pass i can breath a little easier but i will certainly face death more than once in that time." After hearing that Orimis nodded and asked a unexpected question. "If you are successful in surviving the next four year''s i assume you will return to your original goal. I am curious what will you do if you succeed in gaining that much power?" This time i was the one with a pensive look it took me a long time to really think about what really i wanted. Thinking back on all the game''s i have played not one allowed the amount of freedom i desired. They also never let anyone make decision''s that alter the game world the way they want. Most of the time when a decision came up you are usually only had a good choice or a evil one. Some rare game''s had a third middle ground choice but even then you rarely had a choice that was what you wanted. But here in royal road user''s could literally take control of kingdom''s and change the course of event''s. Thinking along those lines of what i could do that would leave a lasting effect on this world long after i was dead. As a idea started to form in my mind i couldn''t help but smile. "i want to leave a lasting effect on this world that will carry on long after my death." With a surprised look Orimis said. "That is quite surprising most people don''t think in such a long term view. So what kind of legacy do you wish to leave behind? One that the people will look upon with pride and respect or fear and hate?" With a grin i said. "That will be for the historian''s to decide. But i do know that change in any form will be welcomed and rejected and only time will tell." With a nod Orimis said. "It will be interesting to see what you will do in the year''s to come. Now enough of this heavy talk it is time for me to attend to the library and for you to head to the training hall i know Lancer does not like people who are late." With a nod i got up and brought my dish''s over to the sink after thanking Orimis for the meal i headed over to the training hall upon entering Lancer walked over and greeted me. "Morning traveler so you returned i am happy that you have come to train. So before you start i would like to know your name and what weapon you wish to learn." With a smile i said. "Good morning instructor Lancer my name is Dracoal. As for which weapon i wish to learn i wish to master all weapon''s but the sword is my favorite." Lancer had a big grin. "HA! Mastering all weapon''s would be quite the feat but it is good that you favor the sword since it take''s more skill to master than other weapon''s. So have you any experience wielding a blade?" Shaking my head i replied with a no Lancer had a pleased smile since he could train me from the ground up without having to worry about any habit''s i may have formed if i did. He took me over to a rack full of wooden sword''s after handing me one he instructed me to strike the scarecrow i did as told and began my training. After a few hour''s i was worn out after the first hour Lancer instructed me to change my attack to a different angle and i would attack in that manner until a hour passed and he would have me change my attack. This kept on until a hour before lunch so i decided to stop for the day after putting up the wooden sword i was using i looked over at a user that had been here ever since i arrived he looked Korean but i wasn''t sure. What got my attention was the fact he was attacking the scarecrow like he was possessed. It looked like he had a vendetta against it he was going at it like that the entire time without stopping i admired the willpower it took to keep at it. I would keep going but chef Zeff was expecting me and i did not want to incur his wrath. I walked over to instructor Lancer ans told him i would be going to Baratie to work for Zeff as i promised but i would return tomorrow. With that i headed over to the Baratie like yesterday i found Casandra bringing people there order''s and taking them as i walk over i said. "Good morning Casandra." Looking over she smiled. "Morning Dracoal father was asking about you not to long ago. Go on in i am looking forward to any new food you make!" With a smile and nod i went inside once in the kitchen i looked around and like yesterday i did not see chef Zeff anywhere. Taking a step forward i was about to call out when i felt a blade pressed against my neck and a cold voice spoke. "So vagabond you didn''t run very good." I wasn''t as freaked out by this as i was yesterday but it was still unnerving that chef Zeff was able to sneak up on me like that. Trying to keep a mostly level voice i said. "Good morning chef Zeff i returned as promised." He smiled at my slightly shaky voice then removed his knife and replied. "Not that you had any choice. Now before i have you make anything for the customer''s you need to learn how to cook properly." Chef Zeff went on to show me how to cook. After creating a few dish''s i was happy to receive the cooking skill. *Ding* (Source Vol 1 Ch 7 LMS )

Not to long after this Casandra called into the kitchen. "We have a order of two wolf steak''s for table two and a order of pizza for table five." With a surprised look i ask chef Zeff. "You added pizza to your menu?" With a irritated look Zeff replied. "It was Casandra''s idea she insisted on it even though i didn''t think people would eat food that wasn''t healthy." It would seem that Zeff was a little bit of a health nut.I didn''t disagree with him not because it would be more unhealthy for me than the food but simply the fact that eating such food need''s to be done in moderation. ( Not that i am one to talk <.<'' ) I was a little curious so i asked. The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement. "How long have you been selling the pizza''s for?" As he walked over to start gathering the ingredient''s for the pizza chef Zeff replied. "For about halve an hour. While i start this you do the wolf steak''s." "Yes chef Zeff." And with that i started working as a cook for Baratie.I quickly became very grateful for being able to go on the net in game it was very helpful when i started learning new dish''s from chef Zeff. By the time lunch rolled around a rather noisy crowed had gathered at Baratie. ( Crowed chatter ) "Is it true that this place make''s pizza?!" "That''s what a friend of mine said he was walking by when he saw it on the menu." "What kind''s are they making? Are they doing a meat lover''s!?!" "Umm Janet aren''t you on a diet?I thought you wanted to loose weight not gain it?" *THUMP* "OUCH!What was that for?!" "Idiot food here doesn''t make us fat remember!" "Oh right so you will still be doing yoga right?I hate to loose such a nice view." *THUMP*THUMP* "OOWWWWW!! Hew wait don''t run off Janet i am sorry!" Yup definitely a noisy bunch i thought. Zeff looked over and asked. "Meat lover''s?" Looking up from the food i was making i respond. "Meat lover''s is a type of pizza with a assortment of meat''s as topping''s. The cheese pizza i mad was the simplest that can be made. You can also use vegetable''s as topping''s and pretty much anything else you can think of." With a contemplative look Zeff nodded and returned to work. As the lunch hour progressed it seemed word of Baratie having pizza began to spread like wild fire. Near the end of lunch there were around two or three hundred people wanting pizza and nearly all of them user''s. Chef Zeff had been grumbling for the last thirty minute''s i didn''t catch much but the gist of it was him complaining that instead of healthy food people wanted food that only had taste but no health benefit. We also ended up making around at least a dozen different type''s of pizza ranging from peperoni to squid. before lunch even ended we had to tell everyone we could no longer make any more pizza since we had run out of ingredient''s this caused a lot of disappointment from many user''s but i suggested to Casandra to ask for there name''s and order''s and tell them to come back tomorrow this lifted there spirit''s. With that the first day of cooking for Baratie came to a close after lunch Zeff asked...well more like demanded for another recipe. Racking my brain for something easy and quick to make i thought about the massive success of the pizza and decided to make a cheese burger''s. I made around a dozen of them using different meat cow, wolf and fox meat where used like last time both Casandra and chef Zeff tried the new food. This time around chef Zeff seemed to be more approving of the food i was making right until i put a generous amount of cheese of some of them then he made the comment. "It''s like you are allergic to healthy food boy." Casandra''s comment after eating the food made me wonder if she was more dangerous than Zeff. "Keep making food like this and i just might have to chain you up in the kitchen all day!" Needles to say i was grateful when Zeff said. "I wont have you eating food meant for customer''s Casandra they may like stuffing themselves with unhealthy food but so long as you live under my roof you will eat healthy." With the look Casandra was giving Zeff i was reminded of the saying if look''s could kill. And if they could Zeff would be dead as a door nail. I was curious as to why Zeff was worried about what food Casandra eats since she seemed to be as fit as a athlete. But since i didn''t have a death wish i didn''t ask. As i finished cleaning up the kitchen before going back to the library Zeff walked over and said. "Well vagabond it seems you aren''t completely useless after all." With that he tossed a pouch at me. After i caught it i heard some clinking noise from the pouch raising a eye brow i opened the pouch. Upon seeing the content''s i was surprised my jaw didn''t hit the floor. Inside the pouch where a great deal of copper, silver and gold coin''s there was nearly thirty gold in total. With a stutter i asked. "W-What''s this for?" Looking at me like i was a idiot Zeff replied. "It''s money you use it to pay for stuff don''t you know anything vagabond?" Hearing that i quickly became irritated and said. "I know full well what money is for and i am not a vagabond! I happen to be staying with Orimis at the library." Chuckling Zeff said. "Well i see it''s easy to get you riled up and i must admit i was surprised when Orimis came by earlier and said you where staying with him. And to find out he managed to rope you in to repairing those mountain''s of book''s gave me a good laugh. As for the money it was at Casandra''s insistence that you received a portion of the money earned from the food you showed us how to make. So you better thank her the next time you see her!" I was shocked that a small portion of the money earned from the pizza alone earned me nearly thirty gold! I was also surprised to learn that Zeff new Orimis so i had to ask. "How long have you known Orimis?" Zeff looked like he was considering if he should bother answering shrugging he said. "For about ten year''s at this point he is actually a normal patron here. Now since you are done cleaning up the mess you made off with you!" With another irritated look i said my good bye''s to Zeff and thanked Casandra on my way out. It was time for me to head back to the library to start repairing those book''s. After watching Dracoal leave Zeff began thinking if he should thank the boy or hit him for all the business his pizza brought in. Even though Zeff ran a restaurant he actually had no need for money in fact him and his daughter didn''t have to work at all for the rest of there life''s thanks to his previous line of work. But he enjoyed cooking as a hobby so he setup shop in a out of the way spot to reduce the amount of people coming in and enjoy his retirement. But Dracoal''s pizza had gotten far more attention than he ever expected and he was now swamped with people wanting the damn thing. Thinking it over it probably wouldn''t take long for other cook''s and chef''s to start making there own pizza which in turn should reduce the annoyingly loud crowd''s. So he will put up with it for now besides from what he heard from Orimis the boy has a very interesting goal if he continued on that path Zeff might have more than cooking to teach. With a small grin Zeff got back to work. After the irritation wore off from my talk with Zeff i was over joyed at my good luck i had earned nearly thirty gold in a single day! I never would have imagined that user''s would come in drove''s just for one type of food! I guess one should never underestimate the power of pizza! It also help''s that user''s wont gain weight so they don''t have to hold back and enjoy any food they want. I couldn''t wait to see what the reaction''s will be once we start making the cheese burger''s and much more. Now that i had money burning a hole in my pocket i wanted to go on a spending spree! But i held back since right now i had no need to buy food or rent a room at a inn. It would be better to hold onto all the money until i left the city for the first time. I was starting to consider just staying here until the four year''s passed but there was still the threat of a guild war happening here before then. But it is pointless to think about this right now since i still have close to a month left before i can leave. At this point i had arrived back at the library. it was time to start on the mountain''s of book''s that needed to be repaired. With a sigh i went looking for Orimis it didn''t take long i found him putting the last book on the shelf of the very book case that collapsed on him the day before. One thing that caught my eye was the ring he had on his right hand it looked like it had many symbol''s carved into it. Orimis looked over and with a smile asked. "So how did your day go?" Dracoal-"Tiring but rewarding." Orimis-"That''s often the case when you learn thing''s that can be applied to everyday life." Dracoal-"That seems to be the case. I see it didn''t take long to get someone to repair your bookcase." Orimis-"Not at all i repaired it myself." Dracoal-"You have carpentry skill''s?" Orimis-"You could say that. Now since you have returned i suppose we should get started." With that Orimis made his way to the back of the library and the mountain of book''s that waited for us. Once we made it into the cramped room we made are way to the desk this morning there was nothing on it but now it had what looked like a tool kit laying on it. Orimis-"Take your seat and we will begin." With that Orimis began showing me all the tool''s and explaining what they were for. Once he showed me the basic''s by repairing a few book''s himself the whole process was a lot more complex than i first expected. some book''s just had page''s that had come free of the glue that held them together and just needed to be re-glued. There was some were there leather cover''s and were torn beyond repair and needed to be rebound with new leather. There were some book''s that had what looked like water damage in some part''s and one book had some page''s stuck together by what looked like blood. With those book''s Orimis took fresh paper and copied the page''s down and replaced the damaged page''s entirely. And last there were some book''s that were so badly damaged that Orimis had to copy the content''s and make a entirely new book. After showing me all of that i learned a new skill. *Ding*

Orimis-"Now that you know the basic''s you can start repairing the book''s on your own. I suggest starting on this row since they will be the easiest to repair and work your way from there. That should do it good luck!" With that i was left to my own device''s with a sigh i went over and garbed a few book''s from the mountain that Orimis pointed out. Over the next few hour''s i had manege to repair twenty five book''s. This first section of damaged book''s seemed to be composed of nothing but book''s were the page''s had come unglued. While re-gluing looked to be the easiest to do but the reality was much more frustrating. Unlike modern book''s that had there page''s numbered most of these book''s had none. So i had to read through many book''s just to find were the unglued page''s went. One thing i had been expecting to happen was stat gain''s from reading so many book''s but for some reason no matter how many i read i gained nothing. Maybe it''s because they are damaged when i read them? Well whatever the case may be it''s time for me to sleep. End Well thank you guy''s for reading! Please let me know if you find any error''s and i will fix them. Also sorry for such the long wait for the new chapter normal every day life can wreak havoc on your plan''s. I do have a question for you guy''s should i use time jump''s? i still have quite a bit for Dracoal to do in the city but i don''t want it to drag to long and at the same time i don''t want to rush to the point when he get''s stronger it feel''s like there was no build up to it. So let me know your thought''s!
