《What I would actually do if I had three wishes...》 At first glance At one point in time, I was struck by a question. It was a rather common question at the time, and it was asked without much meaning behind it... "What would you do if you had three wishes?" The person who asked it expected an "off the top of your head" answer, trying to compare my wants with their own. Much to their distress and annoyance i did not answer right away, and instead pondered the question. "What would I do?" I asked myself. Several ideas popped into my head: A ferrari, A villa, A supercomputer, A political position... The ideas went on, each and every one useless in the grand scheme of things... Why ask for the ferrari, not the ferrari factory or a model of every ferrari ever made or will ever be made. Why ask for a villa instead of a floating city all to myself, why ask for a super computer instead of something that I can control, monitor and actually had a use for. Why ask for a political position when I could ask for an entire county, or better yet, the world at my fingertips. As different reasons on why my ability to come up with ideas swam through my head, I started to ask myself, "Why cant I come up with anything good?" For sure, I had good ideas, none that I would say out loud though. I am sure all of you have thought them, the horny things internet readers are...( I am also, I won''t deny it here among people of the same company) Enjoying the story? I asked the person who posed the question if there were any rules attatched to it, and they pondered for a moment, replying with a "yes" and attatched these rules... #1 you cannot ask for world domination #2 you cannot ask for omnipotence or some power akin to it #3 you cannot ask for true love After debunking the original ideas, and altering my secondary ideas with the addition of the new rules, my mind swam with questions and even more ''exotic'' ideas on what I would do; none ever to be said to anyone; and yet... Here I am, telling the world what I would actually do in accordance with those rules... Should you have an idea or opinion do please leave it below, but for now I will simply continue on with the story that I wrote taking the wishes and rules into account on what I would ACTUALLY do if I had three wishes. As the tags say, this is going to be mature this includes but is not limited to, violent, gory, lustful, descriptive, graphic and most of all, truthful for all of you people hiding away your deepest desires under the ruse that you know is false, that nobody else shares them... And without further adieu we begin.... The abilities. Pt 1. Remember, any power akin to divinity, or omniscience or any all powerful, all knowing power (such as probability manipulation etc...) is banned in accordance with the second rule. I went down a different route however, and instead pondered how I would rule the planet using "side" wishes. Ones that evaded the rules to bring about almost the same result. And now, finally we get to the story. This is partially a rant, Partially a recap and Partially the start of the story: When the regular person is asked "If you had three wishes, what would they be?" Most reply with "A good job; an easy life; a nice car; or a spot in the college of my choice." (Yes I actually asked people and these were the answers I received... Disappointing arnt they?) These answers baffled me, and they opened my eyes. They opened my eyes to how small thinking and uncreative most of mankind was. I ended up thinking that people with "small" wishes, such as the "nice car" or "good job" wishes did not, in fact, deserve those three wishes to begin with. These people would SQUANDER three wishes. Three wishes which could be used on anything, even changing the fabric of the universe itself. These people however, would remain content to use them on things which were obtainable through work that they just didn''t WANT to do. Throughout this throughout process I came to realize, that three wishes should not, and could not, go to people who would simply wish for an an easier life. Instead the wishes should go to the ones who understand the implications of the opportunity to change the universe, to change the very fabric of space and time...with the right wording. Imagine that a power such as this falls into your hands, you could become a god, or a time traveler. but instead of these things, people wish for a FUCKING CAR!!! I ask you this, choose between being a god, or having a nice car. Which answer would you choose? Surprisingly enough most of the people I asked said that they wanted the car. Baffled once more at their stupidity I asked, "Why?" Almost afraid to hear the answer. They almost unanimously replied that they "did not want that much power" Whatever happened to ambition or greed? Seeing as how most of my race, which I have come into contact with, seems to misunderstand what being omnipotent really means, I took it upon myself to acquire three wishes and show them the power of forward and rational thinking, and the ability to understand the implications of a choice. The human race as a whole, tends to forget those who are not truly diabolical and those who are not kings rules presidents, tyrants or leaders of powerful entities in general. This "car" that you chose, would not get you remembered in history, no not you at all. With time you will fade, along with every other person in existence. "I have my family" most say when I tell them that. To them I ask, yes, you do... And how long will they last, how long will your memory remain important to them? A year? Two years? Five years of mourning? It sounds heartless but in reality, how far back do we mourn or celebrate death? At best it turns out to be one or two generations before the persons name is forgotten in the family records, never to be brought up as a person again, only to be remembered as the plot device in history that got that person to that particular place in time. As only one example of this, do you think the descendants of Julius Cesar know that HE was their ancestor? And if they do, do they remember him as the roman Emperor, or their great great great great great great etc... grandfather? The world remembers him as the Emperor, his family probably doesn''t even know they are related to him at all. Another example of this is that we as a society still remember the names and personas of Roman(greek) and Norse gods. These memories and stories exist with tales of their greatest heroes and kings, and their worst adversaries and conflicts. Of the Romans, we remember their thinkers, their doers, their Kings, their conquerors, and their hero''s such as the great Hercules. The people we remember, are NOT in fact the average farmhands, the peasants and peons who died in battle, but instead we remember those who fought and won, or those who sat down to think like I am doing now... And so... I set off ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I underwent many dangers and trials to obtain opportunity for power that I was about to be granted. I risked my life countless times along the way. Ultimately reaching my goal, the genies chamber. Finally I was standing in front of this being which could grant anything and I certainly wouldn''t be wishing for a car or a place in college. Instead I would be ambitious, greedy, and downright nasty in my wishes. Making them (like many deny) solely centered upon myself, and why not? Why should I care for anyone else? All of those people who would shun me, would die having lived a miserable life, inevitably forgotten amongst the blood splattered pages of humanity and the universe. All this, while I live on, surrounded by stories of my glory, myths of my greatness, and legends of my power; all while I live on, wielding power far beyond their comprehension. "Why?" Some might ask, and my answer is any always will be... "Because I thought ahead..." a poll not a chapter Who thinks, that I should A) Stay with the original plot I had designed, staying with the original three wishes. (This will of course be tailored to what I wanted as I was the one fantasizing when I wrote it. B) Collect the readers wishes and select the most suitable one to make a story out of, that being the new story line... It would still stay true to the title, and even more so to my pessimistic views on life. Or... C) We hold a vote in the comments section and the most popular wish gets to have a story written. (This will also include the tags and my pessimistic views on life, but will be written more in line with the comments section then my own will.) The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement. Of course if you have an option D) or something similar do put it in the comments. The decision will be made tomorrow, (24 hours from now roughly) unless there is a unanimous vote amongst the comments for one idea or another, at which point I would simply start writing about that (guess I add the reader interactive label?) Unanimous! Due to a staggering 8/0/1 vote in only the first hour it was up I decided to proceed with the original. Btw I forgot to mention that wishing for more was also out of the question, that was a rule that was so obvious i felt i didnt have to state it, but I guess I do anyway. As to things akin to altering reality those are too close to divinity. Such as pocket dimensions and other things. For realz now, Without further adieu here it is... ------------------------------------------------------------- "You have done well surviving and reaching this point young mortal. To reward you I shall grand you three wishes, however there are limits. You cannot wish for more wishes, true love or anything that alters reality." The genie said, his voice resounding throughout the chamber. Hmm that ruined some of my plans, but no matter, a forward thinker always has some backup plans. "Ok." I said." Before proceeding I must know, would anything I ask for be able to affect you?" My intentions were simple, I would ask for the ability to convince anything of anything, for example convince a rock that it is a pop singer or in a more practical sense, convince the genie to give me more wishes. This would not be wishing for them and would therefore not be against the rules. His voice rumbled out a few moments later, declaring my hopes useless. "No, any power given to you would apply to things of your level and below; no higher beings would be included amongst the effects." I thought for a moment more, and asked calmly "Can I wish for you to remove that restriction?" To which the genie answered the obvious "no". It appeared that restrictions on the wishes were set in stone, and could not be changed, even with other wishes. The genie appeared annoyed by my attempted evasion and exploitation of the wishing system, but he had patience enough to wait for me to announce my first wish. "I wish for the ability to control probability" I said, very matter of factly. It wasn''t against the rules, nor was it explicitly explained what I wanted to be able to do. The genie paused for a moment, then shook his head, saying "Denied mortal. You have no right to dictate to the universe what should happen." At the failure of that, I feel back onto my wildcard. The one which I had high hopes for but ultimately could be useless if I was wrong about humans. "I wish, for the ability to release a human''s, myself included, potential." It appeared that I would have to abandon the plans for universal conquest and be content with a limited scale conquest, and expand later. The genie contemplated for a moment. He knew as well as I did that the potential for human beings was almost limitless given time. He grumbled for a few moments and then accepted the wish. "Granted," He roared,"With conditions. This power cannot used on more then ten people aside from yourself. Once used the power cannot be taken away, and another person may not be fully unlocked until an original holder dies." Only ten people? I sighed internally, but ten would suit my needs just fine. After all, an "unlocked" human would be incomparably more intelligent and incomparably more useful then those who were not unlocked. "Fully?" I asked, confirming why that word was added at the end of his sentence. "Yes," It nodded. Apparently it wasn''t going to explain further then that at this point in time, so I let it be and simply went on to the second wish. "I wish to be able to make them completely loyal to me. To the point where they would give their life, their families life, their dogs life, and the life of their entire planet simply because I implied I wanted them to. Such a deep seated loyalty, that even if I were to die, the control would not be relinquished. No, instead of control simply the inability to have anything other then eternal loyalty to me and wish to serve me. That is what I wish for." A case of content theft: this narrative is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation. The genie grumbled again, then granted me the power which I had asked for. "Done, with the same conditions as the previous wish. No person can be "fully" loyal until a previous holder dies." He was implying that to a certain extent i was able to "partially" unlock somebody while "partially" making them completely loyal to me, this was an added bonus on top of the ten people. Of course these people could not be completely trusted, however some sense of "absolute" loyalty would be imparted upon them. And finally, the one I had been waiting for, "I wish to be able to give immortality to myself and others." The genie nodded, and I started celebrating. My hopes and dreams -"No"- had just been... wait what? "No?" I repeated after the genie. He nodded again, and started to explain, "Through time all things come. If you were given unlimited potential and immortality, eventually you would reach godhood. That is not allowed, as it would change the natural law. Instead I can offer you the inability to die from age, or the inability to die from mortal wounds. The two cannot coexist however, even if one were to use two separate wishes on them, the universe does not allow it." I started to curse in my head. This fucking guy tells me this NOW of all times, not at the start. I had been building up to this, and yet here he stands cock-blocking my ability to become a god. Like he said however, through time all things come, so of the two options he presented I decided to go with the eternal youth part, as I am confident that my subordinates (meat shields) will prevent me from dying. "I take eternal youth, and the ability to pass it off to another." I said, expecting the same ''ten person'' and partial rule, and yet this time I get something different. "Granted, with conditions. You and three other people you grant it to shall now be immune to aging. For the ones whom it is granted to, theirs is only temporary, and if they are away from you for a period of time (a month or two) they will start to age normally." The genie said, very blandly So basically I have to choose three people among my ten, to save? "If they die I am assuming that I will be able to give it to another person?" I asked, just to be sure. The genie held out his hand as if to stop my train of thought. "That is only if they die in combat. If they die of age, that slot shall forever be filled, and you will never be able to replace them. Do cherish those under you, the other beings around you are not simply tools for your enjoyment. If you treat them as such, karma will avenge them. Especially if you lead them into an unjust death such as suicide. Head my words mortal, the forces you are trifling with cannot be changed by my petty powers. Now then, begone from my realm, and use your powers wisely..." At its last words, my vision faded to black, the genie slowly started disappearing, its last words and posture burning themselves into my memory. Its a weird feeling, being slowly engulfed into darkness, loosing your mind to the ravaging emptiness, endlessly falling through space as I returned to my original place on earth. My body went numb, and I started suffocating. It had occurred to me that there was no air in between dimensions. That was the first time I had been teleported, and I would never forget it...
