《The Road of a Wizard》 Prologue - 1 So guys author here , I am not a native in english so I am 100% sure i made a mistake some where if you guys could point me where and how to fix it will be awesome also this is my 1s try to do this kind of thing i hope you guys like it. So guys i had this in my native lenguague and because I am lazy i used google translated so the chapter came like this, the other chapters where writen in english so they are a loot better (not perfect but better) so yea, maybe at some point i will rewrite this (if some one wants to do it and send it to me I am ok with that :D) but not now. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ In the kingdom of Galurm in its northern territories, in a small town called Grima messenger rode to the streets, the sun had set on the horizon and only darkness reigned in the streets, in the face of the messenger you could see small drops of sweat. Currently he was reading a book in his bed like he did every night when suddenly he ear someone knocked on his door, by the voice of the person clearly it was something urgent, leaving his book aside he rose from the bed and walked toward the door. "Asmunt what happens, what are you doing calling at my door in this hour " "Margaret is about to give birth we need your help immediately" Without saying anything more Feirns turned it changed clothes and went away. ------------ In one of the great houses of the town, you could felt a heavy atmosphere. On the second floor of the house could see a man holding the hand of a woman stroking her air. "Be calm dear, Asmunt already went to look for Feirns, the two will arrive on anytime" Suddenly the door mashed open: "Master Edgar, Feirns and Asmunt have arrived" "What are you waiting meke him pass" As soon has Feirns sees Margaret he felt fear in his heart, his face was completely white, great drops of sweat ran over her face, and he could feel how his pulse weakened. The magic was incredible a person on the verge of death could be saved and whole armies could be destroyed, but the magic was not for all people just some select people could manifest their power. "Edgar order the servants to bring a bucket and clean towels" Edgar seeing the urgency in the face of Feirns ordered the servants, in seconds everything was assembled, without delay Feirns filled the bucket with hot water and put aside the towels. "Listen to me margaret i will use my mana to help you with the childbirth but I can not do it alone so you''re going to have to help, every time i count to three you''ll have to push as I infuse mana in your body" Margaret just nodded and thus the delivery began. -------- In the morning as the sun bathed the world with its light, you could hear the cries of a newborn. Feirns with an exhausted face was holding the newborn in his hands while he inspected it. "Feirns''s he all right, was he born healthy and margaret how is margaret" commented Edgar quickly. During childbirth edgar had been totally calm but now after it finished all the stress that had accumulated exploded making it look like a nervous wreck. "Calm edgar all is well, the child is healthy, and margaret i have already cured her with my magic with a little rest she will recover with no problems" Hearing this edgar relaxed, Feirns with a gesture I passed the newborn, edgar holding his son on is hands felt an incredible feeling of joy passing through his body, the night of terror that had lived became like a dream. "And how will you call it" -Asked Feirns Edgar looked at his wife who was exhausted and she nodded. "I call as my grandfather founder of merchant conglomerate Fenrir, his name will be Roy, Roy Sullivan" Edgar was holding on to roy in his arms approached his wife so she can see him. --------------------------------- Five years have passed since that night, roy proved to be a bright child, at 8 months started walking, at 2 years he could form complete sentences and at 4 he was reading, her father edgar Sullivan had spared anything to cultivate his talents he even hired the best teachers to teach him his son, money was no problem for him after all he led continent''s largest conglomerate, he was incredibly proud of his son. A month after the birth of roy when margaret was able to travel , the family moved to the port city of Hilma since edgar planned to open a branch office there. As was custom early in the morning roy and his father went to the market where his father was explaining everything about the job of being a merchat, this way since childhood roy was trained to be the best merchant he could be. As they walked to the harbor suddenly an explosion was heard not far from where they were. Roy has son has he heared the explosion he immediately understood that the explosion was probably a disagreement between a merchant and a customer, thinking it would be a good experience for his child he commented. "Roy how about we go to see what happend this is a necessary experience for your future" Roy just nodded, edgar undoubtedly was blessed with a good son, he was not only intelligent but never complained and always followed what his father told without asking, taking his son''s hand he headed to the area of the explosion. "Threatening? You sold me a defective staff as soon as i use it the magic stone broke nearly costing me my life "- shouted the man as he began to recite a spell The man beside began to do the same, suddenly a huge fire ball flew to the chubby man as he was about 1 meter of the man the fire ball crashed against something and dispersed. "Shhh, so put you a magical barrier, that has won you time but it will not stop me" The black man just smiled, the black man reached out is hand and a ice spear flew stright to the heard of the man. "What? Voiceless Incantation or Insta cast, this is dangerous "- commented the man as he moved his head just in time for the ice spear passed near her cheek. At the same time he dodge he Muttered a spell. As soon has edgar saw that this was a fight between magicians he tried to leaven, when edgar decided to come to see what was happening he thought would be a simple disagreement, with which he would teach his child that honesty was a characteristic necessary for a merchant, but a fight between wizards was something completely different here his life was in danger, the magicians were incredibly powerful, some were capable of destroying entire armies, so Edgar was not willing to put his child in danger , edgar turned and tried to leave but felt resistance,the resistance came from roy who was watching what had passed with shock and a smile. Edgar had never seen his son like this, his son was calm,he always followed the market every morning but he never showed much interest only responding what edgar asked. Suddenly a spell incantation put him out of his trance, listening to the spell edgar face lost all the color ,he quickly grabbed the necklace he had in the neck, it was a strangely shaped mirror, edgar took it and broke it in his hand suddenly multiple mirrors appeared in front og him and roy protecting them from what was to come. "Rising Sun hear my call, destroy everything that gets in the way of me your master - Solar Flare" - has soon has the man finish reciting the spell he touched one of the many rings on his finger and disappeared. the black robed man listening to the spell name quickly raised her hand and a kind of black dome formed over him, just before a blinding ray of light descended upon him. All who were within 10 meters of man in black were reduced to ashes while even those who were more than 20 meters away felt like they were inside a volcano, the heat emitted by the spell was so strong that buildings made of wood began to burn like crazy and the stone began to melt. The ray of light only lasted for 2 seconds, but two seconds were enough for the area to be devastated. Multiple injuries, deaths, fires, melted stones, that was the result of a brief fight between wizards, out of the rubble a figure stood,it was the magician of black robes he seems like he had never been in a fight, not a speck of dust was in his black coat, looking around and seeing what had happened, his face became pale and he ran to help the wounded. Not far from where the fight had happened, edgar and roy appeared as a shield of mirror disipated. Edgar seeing in the state in which the market was shivered, many of those present were his friends, in the 5 years that had been in hilma he had known them and their families, almost all were good people , he wanted to go help,but now his priority to make sure roy was safe. Edgar carried his son and started walking toward the house where they lived in hilma. On the road edgar nor roy said a word, edgar feared that this experience had traumatized his son, but what happened next took him by surprise. "Father, I''ve decided I''ll be a magician" - roy said as he watched his father. Edjar could not contain his laughter, his son never failed to surprise him , after seeing the amazing previous scene his son was not afraid but wished to pursue the power they had undoubtedly roy had the heart of a greedy merchant. ------------------------------- Arriving at the mansion, edgar immediately told margaret what had happened, margaret worried went to check on roy after making sure that everything was fine, she looked at edgar with gratitude in her eyes. The pendant edgar use to protect him and his son was one of the legacies that his father had passed, the pendant could protect the person who used it against almost any spell the only problem was that he only use it once because after one use it will lose is power. "Father I want to be a magician," said roy bringing their parents back to reality. Edgar looked at his son and with a solemn voice said, "The road to be a magician is a difficult one, in this road effort and talent is not all you need, you also need luck. do you have what it takes to walk it? " Roy looked at his father''s eyes without blinking for a second "Yes" - said roy with no doubt in his voice Edgar smiled at hearing this. "Perfect, but still you can not take that route, at 10 yearsof age all children are brought to the association of magic to be tested, if you can pass the test I promise in the name of Sollivan you will have my full support on the road to be a magician " Roy smiled as he watched his father; Edgar could see the determination in the eyes of his son, determined to be a powerful wizard. -------------------------- Prologue - 2 Outside of a huge temple of white stones, a huge line of people could be seen, most of them were children waiting to be tested, most of them would be happy with just a speck of talent in magic, magicians where sought for many kingdoms and even the weaker ones could live a carefree life. 5 years have passed since roy decided to be a magician, since then he readed all kind of books related to magic, now he could recite from memory the principles behind magic and a dozen or more way to increase his mana capacity, roy was seated in a chair reading a book related to magic like usual, his mother Margaret was sitting next to him sewing baby clothes, Margaret had gotten pregnant last spring that was 6 months ago. ¡°Roy get ready in 2 day you will be 10 years old, and we will go to the magic association to test your magic affinity¡± Roy hearing this could not help but feel exited at last the day where his journey would begin was close, his path to become a mage was closer than ever. Two days passed in a blink of an eye, Roy got up earlier than he had ever done, he went to his father room and knocked the door. ¡°Father get up, or we are going to be late for the magic test¡±- said roy in a hurried voice Hearing his child voice edgar got up and opened the door ¡°The magic test only start when the sun is in his highest point roy, go and get dress, we will hold a small celebration for your birth day and then I will take you to take the test¡± ¨C Said edgar, with a sleepy face Roy nodded and went to his room, a few minutes later the whole family and servant where in the courtyard of the manor, roy was sit in the middle of them, while one by one every person congratulate him for his birthday and wish him luck in the magic test. ¡°My son, I have watched over you all this years and I know how deep is the passion you have for magic , so I hope this help you in attaining your goal¡± ¨C Said Margaret while handing a beautiful staff to roy. Roy looked at the staff that his mother had gift to him. The staff was made of brown wood, with white lines moving through it in a rhythmical pattern, it had a huge magic gem in his tip you could see blue flames could be seen inside it. This was the most expensive staff for beginner magicians, usually beginners and apprentice magicians would use a staff to help them channel the mana in his body, but for adept and master magicians staff became useless, because the mana in their body was so pure that most staff would break when they try to channel their magic through it, some staff made with incredible expensive materials will be able to withstand the mana but they were not only expensive but incredible rare. After everyone had congratulated roy, and give him a present he and his father departed to the magic association, currently the sun was in his highest point and the magic test had just began, roy and his father waited in line for what it felt like an eternity, suddenly a man with a white robe approach them. ¡°Your number is 4567 , when you enter the building take the right path, an officer of the magic association will be there to assist you¡± ¨C Said the man while handing a white sheet of paper with the number on it. Edgar took the sheet and followed the man instruction, he took the right path and walked down a corridor in the end there was a woman wearing a red robe , with a golden dragon in it, she was incredibly beautiful, she had eyes that could bewitch any man, his lips where red like the red roses that grow in the courtyard of the house, his body was shaped like an hourglass whit no fat in it, controlling himself edgar approached the woman and said. ¡°This is my son Roy Sullivan he is here to take the magic test¡± ¡°Oh I see, the test will cost 5 gold and I will also need your number¡±- Said the woman with an angelic like voice Edgar handed the gold and told the woman the number, the woman wrote the number and roy name in a long parchment, and then she guide them to a huge hall, in the end of the hall you could see an few people sitting in chair inspecting all the children that came to take the test, those people were recruiters from various magic colleges all colleges wanted talented people the more talented the better, in the middle of the hall you could see a small black ball hovering in the air, next to a huge magic circle that was carved on the floor. ¡°The test is really simple, the Scrying Crystal will tell us the level of mana you have and the Magic circle will tell us your affinity to the elements, tell me roy do you know the elements that make this world and the ranking system that mages use?¡± ¡°Yes I know this world is made of a variety of elements but the major ones are Earth, Fire, Water, Wind, Light and Darkness, each element have a set of sub-elements for example iron is a sub element of earth¡± ¨C Said roy with a proud face ¡°Very well Roy it seems you have study a loot and the ranking system do you know it?¡± ¡°The mages are classify into 5 ranks depending in the amount of mana they have and the control they have over the elements the ranks are: Beginner magician: They are the people that just awoke his magic, they cant form spells but can manipulate the mana in his body. Apprentice magician: Are the ones that can form the most basic of spells, they have a very low understanding of the elements. Adept magician: Are the one that can use intermediary level spells and understand the basic form of their element Master magician : Are the ones that can use advance spells, and have an almost complete understanding of the elements If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Roy closed his eyes and tried to feel the elements around him, he had read many books related to the elements and he understood that the elements conformed everything in the world, from living being to the smallest rock, they were everything. He tried to feel the air around him, the earth under his feet¡¯s , the heat of his body, the water that he needed to live, the light that every day bathed the world and the darkness that follow it. The people present in the all stared with astonishment to the boy that was standing in the magic circle, around him you could see balls of water, fire, wind, earth, light and darkness dancing around him, they were crystal clear you could even see the small details in them. ¡°Magic Affinity for Earth, wind, fire, water, light, and darkness highest grade¡± ¨CAnnounced the woman with shock in his voice A normal person would have average affinity with most elements, some genius will have high affinity with 1 or 2 elements, but this child in front of her had the highest grade with every single element he was a genius that surpassed common sense. Suddenly a woman voice roared. ¡°Silence the test is not over yet¡±- Said the woman Roy opened his eyes around him he could see every element , and when he heard the announcement of his affinity he looked at his father with a proud face , his father look at him with a big smile. ¡°Now roy press your hand against the Scrying Crystal so we can see the amount of mana you have¡±- Roy with a big smile walked to the Scrying Crystal and placed his hand The people in the hall where not interested in the result of the mana test even if he had the smallest mana pool they did not care because the amount of mana a person has could be trained, as long has he had mana there where a multiple ways of increasing his mana, suddenly an announcement resounded trough the hall. ¡°Mana capacity cero¡± Roy hearing this could not stop his tears because he know that his dream of being a mage was over. ------------------------------------------------------------ 60 years had passed since the day that roy learned that he had no mana, since that time many things have happened, after he learned that he had no mana roy was depressed for 3 months, but with the support of his family and the birth of his little brother he got over it, he change is purpose in life, he started to get into his father business, he learned all he could from him and eventually he took over the Fenrir merchant conglomerate, under his leadership the Fenrir conglomerate became the only merchant conglomerate of the continent even kings did not dare to offend them, they even have their own city, new trade routes where establish, new branch office open and an era of greatness began for Fenrir, but he never forgot the dream of his childhood. Chapter 1 - Restart A/N: Thxs every one for reading my fic, i hope you guys like this chapter is kind of short but work is killing me, I have tried rly hard to minimize the gramma errors (Prologue 1 was a fail in what gramma is concern) but if i missed something plz leave it in the comments, and if you have something to say good or bad say it i will use it to make the next chapter better. --------- August Relion was a farmer in the Kingdom of Elms, he lived a poor life with just enough to feed himself and his wife Rose, they have been best friends since childhood so most people think it was only natural that they got married. It was a cold night of winter when his wife rose gave him the news, she was pregnant, at first he was scared because he did not know if he will be able to feed another mouth, but after seen the happy face of his wife he kept those tough for himself, he will figure a way somehow like he always did. The winter was always tough, he even went some nights without eating so his wife could eat, rose knew this but he never raised a voice of complain, she had a life growing inside her that needed food to grow healthy, so she endured the pain and ate, even when his body wanted to trough up she did not let it, because that will be a waste of precious food. At the end of the winter August and Rose decided to go to the temple of Regnar to pray. Regnar was the Warrior-God of humanity, legends of old talk about how he guided humanity trough the endless sea during the great voyage, massive waves came crashing down but he with swing of his sword was capable of cutting the waves in two making a path for the arch, after generations they finally reached land, they named this new continent Helvetii, the Dynasty of Hallstatt was establish, and the five path of the warrior where created. By the year 205 of the Hallstatt calendar Regnar die, in the moment of his death a red light envelop his body and he disappeared, some said that this was the moments he reached godhood, other said that he became part of the world itself. ------------------------------------- The temple was built of white stone, with massive pillars surrounding it , in each pillar you could see scenes of battles, in one you could see a man fighting a massive snake that was eating a tree, in others you could see army¡¯s clashing in glorious battle, at the end of the temple a statue of the warrior-god could be seen, two wolf on each side, a full set of armor with a carving of a dragon in it, a heavy long sword in his back, a long beard and a strong and masculine face with an odd shaped tattoo on it , the whole statue give an awe inspiring presence. Suddenly Roy heard a baby cry, he tried to move is body but he couldn¡¯t, slowly he opened his eyes, but he could only see blurry outlines of the surroundings, is tough where in disarray. ¡°Where I am, what happened¡± ¨C where is toughs ¡°You need to calm roy, think what is the last thing you remember, I was in my deathbed and my brother was with me, and then I felt cold to cold and I don¡¯t remember any after that¡± ¨C Roy started to think, he slowly came to the conclusion that the cold he felt was death itself that had come for him, he indeed had died, but if he had died what is this, what had happened. He started to look around but he could only see blurs, he could not make out the small details of the things around him, suddenly he felt something 2 strange object inside him, it was something weird, something he had never felt, he tried in concentrating in those 2 object inside him, suddenly he could see 2 spheres one was black with a tint of red, the other was grey, he tried to reach, to get closer to the black sphere but a pain invaded his body, and he could not help but scream then he fainted. ------------------- Roy opened his eyes, some of the pain he felt was still present but now there was something more, it had a familiar feeling something he knew very well, it took him a moment to remember what this feeling was. ¡°The elements¡± ¨C he tough, even now he could still feel the elements around him. ¡°hahaha, it seems that even in death they are present¡± ¨C he tried to reach the elements like he always tried to do in is past life, every now and then he tried to reach the elements in hope that something had change, but every time nothing happened he had no mana. He concentrated like the magic book for beginners said, he reached inside himself an looking at his interior world, then he once again saw the 2 spheres, he looking at the black sphere he felt dread in his heart, so he tried to reach the grey one this time, pain invaded his body once more but this time it was not has bad at the last time, he felt the grey sphere, he concentrated more and more in feeling it, suddenly a tiny part of the elements started to move around it, he felt this and opened his eyes, he could not see the elements but he could feel how they moved around him, he could not contain his happiness, he was so excited that his concentration broke, and the elements stopped, he had done it he had reached the elements. He felt exhausted just moving a tiny bit of the elements around him had made him waste all his energy. He still did not know what was going on but, he did not care because he could use magic, even if he was in hell, it did not matter to him. With a happy face he went to sleep. ------------------------------------------------------ Chapter 2 - Warriors A/N: Sorry for the late chapter but work was killing me i hope you guys like it --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Year 1,205 of the Hallstatt Calendar My wife gave birth, not to one but to two children, we named them Argus and Edimyr, it was a good thing that my sister and his daughter came to help or I would have not known what to do. Argus is a little weird, he did not cry when he was born like is brother, he cried when I put it in his crib and then he went to sleep, I fear that there is something wrong with him. Tomorrow I will go to the warrior guild, maybe I can convince a warrior to check my children, some high level ones can use is battle qi to sense the body of other people. **..Sigh..** I don¡¯t know what I am going to do, two children¡­¡­.., I was confident on feeding one child but with two that¡¯s another matter entirely, lest just pray that this year harvest is a good one. ------------------------------------ The warrior guild had 2 floors, it was made from brown wood with a tint of white in it, you could see all kind of people going in and out of the building, some were tall and muscular, others thin and small, they carried all kind of weapons from daggers to big heavy swords, even bows where in their arsenal. Even in a small village like this, there was a warrior guild with this you could understand how great warriors where; warriors where the epitome of human power, they battle against the dangers of the wild and they also took missions that the warrior guild entrusted to them, but most importantly they trained in one of the five paths that Regnar left to the world. August had gotten up early in the morning and after a quick breakfast he had made his way to the warrior guild, he went to the counter where a weak looking man attend him. ¡°Hello, my wife gave birth yesterday so I want to request that if someone can go to check on her and my child¡¯s¡± ¡°Sure, we can put up a quest in your name, the cost will be 1 gold and 2 silvers¡±- Said the man with an uninterested voice ¡°1 gold and 2 silvers that¡­., why it is so expensive?¡± ¨C With 1 gold August could live a whole year, in a good year of harvest august could make 1 gold and 5 silver, but the last year harvest had been bad so he had only made 60 silver coins, he had his wife had just barely made it past the winter. ¡°For a warrior to be able to sense the body of someone with battle qi without harming them it has to be at least rank 7, peer regulation of the guild a rank 7 warrior will be paid at least 1 gold, and the guild takes a cut of 2% of the quest reward, so that¡¯s why it cost 1 gold and 2 silver¡± ¡°I see, I am sorry I don¡¯t have that kind of money, thanks you I will take my leave¡± ¨C With a dejected face August leaved the warrior guild, he could only wish that his son was fine.
