《Epic of Esloria》 Chapter 0 - Prologue In a certain town, a kid around the age of 6 wandered around, he looked around in a panic and showed signs of crying could be noticed. An old man who was sitting in a chair and a table in front of him tried to get the attention of the kid. ¡°Hey little boy, are you lost?¡± The boy¡¯s expression showed hesitation and stared at the old man. After a few seconds, the boy slightly nodded, the old man then smiled and gave encouragement to the child. ¡°Don¡¯t worry, we¡¯ll find your parents soon. But before that, would you like to hear a story?¡± ¡°What kind of story?¡± The boy tilted his head as he reacted to the old man. The old man grinned and gazed into the boy¡¯s eyes. ¡°It is a story about how this very world began.¡± ***** A thousand years ago, the world consisted was surrounded by plain dirt. If you faced north, you could see dirt, west, east, and south was the same. The only change of scenery that could be seen was the blue sky surrounded by white clouds. The world had no humanoid beings, animals, or plants. The only one which existed in this world was a deity named Nostus, the God of Beginnings. Nostus lived happily in the world he reigned. But several days, months and even years passed, Nostus began to grow tired of the world. With a flick of his fingertips, a new existence beside Nostus existed in the world. That certain existence had a jelly like green colored skin. It was what would now be called a Slime. Nostus was delighted by what he made and continued to create several slimes. But once again, after a little while, he lost interest of the slimes due to them having no capability to think. Nostus began to create another existence that would rival himself, until he was able to create something with a form similar to himself. A humanoid being that could think, move, and feel. At this time, Nostus laughed and jumped in joy. To be able to create something similar to him was a great achievement. But little did Nostus know that this existence was beyond his control. ¡°Who¡.are... you¡?¡± The man Nostus created gazed at him with cold eyes. Nostus noticing this, gave a slightly shocked expression and continued to reply normally. ¡°Why, I am no one else but the one who gave birth to you. I am Nostus, the God of Beginnings and the God of this World.¡± Did you know this story is from Royal Road? Read the official version for free and support the author. In an instant, the man moved very fast, possibly supersonic, clenched his fist and aimed to Nostus¡¯ face. Nostus eyes widened and reacted to the man¡¯s punch. But was still blown several meters away. Nostus was angry and happy at the same time, as he was able to have fun from today onwards. ¡°Hahahahaha! Now this is very interesting! Show me your true power!¡± Nostus moved at high-speed and charged to the man. Their battle was said to last years, decades, and even centuries. Until both of them reached their limits and clashed to each other with all their remaining strength. The World exploded due to impact and recreated itself. Giving birth to several gods who created the rest of the world and kept the balance until today. The world was called Esloria, which was occupied by Humans, Demi-Humans, Demons, and Faeries. Esloria consisted of 4 massive continents namely, Aedweif ¨C The continent reigned by humans which is filled with lively towns and kingdoms. Arusha ¨C The continent ruled of the Gods and demigods. Iluna ¨C The continent controlled by Demons. Eifelone ¨C The continent filled with gigantic forests, home of most Demi-Humans. ***** ¡°And that¡¯s how the world began.¡± The old man smiled at the child while finishing his story. The child listening to his story was greatly astonished by the story and asked the old man a question. ¡°By the way, what¡¯s the name of the man God Nostus fought?¡± ¡°Oh right, His name was-¡° Before the old man could finish talking a woman in her twenties approached them and the child recognized her as his mother. Completely forgotten the boy''s own question, The mother bowed and thanked the old man who was still smiling. When the mother and child began to leave, the child looked back and said, ¡°Thank you, uncle!¡± ¡°You¡¯re welcome.¡± The old man replied with a wry smile.

Chapter 1 - The Runaway Farmer In a certain rural place where a small village could be located, crops grew everywhere while a couple of men are tending to them. The men who were tending the crops were sweating buckets, showing how severe the heat of the sun is. In one of the fields was a young man who looked angry and finally fell into the dirt with his butt. ¡°AHHH! I¡¯m done with this! The weather is hot! This work is annoying! I hate this place, damn it!¡± The black haired boy shouted in a voice that ringed through the entire village. The men who were working, the children playing and the women walking stopped what they were doing and looked at the source of the shout. One of the middle aged men started to walk towards him and scratched his head. ¡°Oi Sig, what are you doing?¡± The man said while staring at Sigvorn who shouted loudly recently. Sigvorn looked at the man with an angry expression and replied. ¡°You f**king old man! Ever since mother died you¡¯ve been forcing me to go your ways! I don¡¯t want to be a farmer!¡± ¡°And what? Become an adventurer? Don¡¯t make me laugh, a na?ve, weak, young child travelling the world? What could you possibly accomplish? This work is for your future and you should forget about that little dream of yours and start tending the crops!¡± The surrounding men were laughing as Sigvorn¡¯s father made a harsh remark. Sigvorn looked at his father with discord, slowly stood up and clicked his tongue. ¡°You, making fun of me. I¡¯ll make you regret it someday!¡± ¡°Yeah, yeah, I¡¯ll gladly wait for it.¡± Sigvorn ran towards his house as he saw the surrounding filled with people who looked at him with eyes of mockery. **** That night, the village was peaceful as the dark sky reflected to the rivers showing a perfect crescent moon. A could be seen inside Sigvorn¡¯s house. ¡°I have water, 50 gold coins, a dagger, and few pieces of bread. I think I¡¯m all set.¡± Sigvorn muttered to himself while smiling. After he finished packing his bag with the things he required Sigvorn went outside the house and started to walk away, he looked back to the house and thought to himself. ¡®I¡¯ll make you regret everything you said.¡¯ **** In the middle of the road, a young man with a sword in his waist, walking with a carefree expression appeared. ¡°Hmmm, if I remember correctly I should reach the town of Hazelbury if I continued walking this road. I should be able to reach the town at dawn.¡± While walking, he looked around at the peaceful scenery which was available to him. After a few minutes of walking he heard a few rustling sounds in the tall grasses surrounding him. ¡°Hmm? What¡¯s that?¡± Sigvorn stopped to fill his curiosity and looked at the rustling grass. After a few seconds, his breathing stopped accompanied with a surprised expression, what he saw was a group of small monsters with green colored skin, holding a knife in their hands. ¡°Goblins!¡± Sigvorn instinctively said as he saw the goblins which amounted to 5. He immediately unsheathed his dagger and held the weapon as how an amateur would. Sigvorn charged with all his might and stabbed the goblin. One of the goblins shrieked in pain, Sigvorn seeing this smiled as he defeated the very first monster he encountered, yet he had forgotten about the other 4 goblins, which leaped at him with their knives ready. Sigvorn widened his eyes having no time to react, closed his eyes to brace their weapons. But the awaited attack never happened, he slowly opened his eyes, expecting the goblins. But what he saw was not goblins but the back of three humanoid figures, two male and one female, confused, Sigvorn slowly opened his mouth. ¡°W-What¡ Who are you?¡± Seeing the back of the three made him realize he was saved from his doom, the day he departed and the day of his doom would have been the same day if those three didn¡¯t come. ¡°Hmm? We are just adventurers. Good thing we managed to help you before you could have become one with those knives.¡± Sigvorn hearing they were adventurers, He could not help but become interested as he looked at the three with sparkling eyes. His hands were trembling in excitement as he saw a genuine adventurer in front of him. ¡°Adventurers!? Then, could you please take me to the Adventurer¡¯s Guild in Hazelbury!?¡± ¡°Oooh, are you aiming to become an adventurer, boy?¡± One of the three asked, Sigvorn faced towards him and nodded. The man gave a heartwarming smile and fulfilled his wishes. ¡°Very well, come with us. We are just on our way to town after all.¡± Sigvorn smiled and gave his thanks to the three and started to walk towards the town of Hazelbury. **** It was already morning when the four of them reached Hazelbury. The town itself looked lively, adventurers walking around, stalls could be seen at the sides and the people of the town were smiling joyfully. It was truly one of the peaceful towns in Esloria. The four of them reached the guild and sat at one of the tables and introduced themselves to one another. ¡°My name is Sigvorn Coldblade, nice to meet you!¡± The three of them returned the introduction. The man around his thirties first named himself. ¡°I am called Eustace Stargaze, an adventurer.¡± Sigvorn¡¯s eyes sparkled once more as he said the word adventurer. Seeing this, the other young man introduced himself. ¡°Then I¡¯m next, my name is Kristoph Amberheart. Nice to meet you.¡± He introduced himself in a knightly manner, Sigvorn piqued his interest but decided not to ask. ¡°T-T-Then, I am Eryviel. I am an adventurer from the Elf race.¡± Sigvorn showed a shocked expression when Eryviel introduced herself as someone from the Elf race. Sigvorn had never seen an Elf before and it was one of his dreams to meet one in his adventures. She unveiled her hood and showed her pointy ears at Sigvorn, looking down with her cheeks Unauthorized use of content: if you find this story on Amazon, report the violation.being red. Noticing how embarrassed Eryviel was, Eustace stood up and stretched. ¡°Well, how about we register you as an adventurer now?¡± Sigvorn immediately stopped examining Eryviel and went to the guild receptionist ¡°Good day, How may I help you?¡± The receptionist asked while giving a charming smile, Sigvorn who saw this blushed. ¡°This guy right here wants to register as an Adventurer.¡± Eustace said while giving Sigvorn a glance, seeing this, Sigvorn stood forward. ¡°I¡¯ll be in your care.¡± The woman observed Sigvorn for a little while then took out a plume and paper and smiled. ¡°Very well, then please write your name in this space provided.¡± Sigvorn began to write his name in the piece of paper, after finishing, Sigvorn handed the paper to the woman. The woman bowed and went into the back room, after a few minutes of waiting, the woman came back and handed Sigvorn some kind of card. Sigvorn then proceeded to ask the woman about the card. ¡°This is?¡± Seeing Sigvorn¡¯s confusion, the woman gladly replied to his question. ¡°That is an Adventurer Identification card. With that you will be able to accept quests from the guild. The card shows information about your name, age, and your rank.¡±
Adventurer Identification
NameSigvorn Coldblade

Seeing this, Sigvorn could not help but be amaze by the card. It was proof that he was now an adventurer. After a few seconds, Eustace began to talk and brought Sigvorn back to reality. ¡°So what are you gonna do now?¡± Sigvorn stopped and thought for a while. Then Sigvorn breathed as if making is decision. ¡°I think I¡¯ll be going around town for a while.¡± ¡°Is that so, well then, let us meet once again.¡± Then the three of them left the Adventurer¡¯s Guild. ¡°Well, time to explore around.¡± Sigvorn went outside and immediately went to the shops around the town. He first visited the weapon shop to obtain a decent weapon. The weapon shop had a wide variety of weapons ranging from swords to quarterstaves. Sigvorn approached the man in behind the desk. ¡°Hey old man, could I get a decent weapon with a budget of 20 gold coins?¡± The old man noticing Sigvorn¡¯s question replied in a stoic tone. ¡°My weapons at around 20 gold coins are mostly rusted and chipped. But I can get you a decent sword for 40 gold coins.¡± Sigvorn pondered for a while, he only had 50 gold coins so he needed to conserve. But without a decent weapon he couldn¡¯t go out and fight monsters. After a few minutes of doubt, he decided to buy the said sword. ¡°Okay then, I¡¯ll take it.¡± The old man hearing then went to get a sword from one of his displays. It was a fairly normal long sword, a brown colored hilt and black scabbard. When unsheathed, the blade shone as it was made with iron. Sigvorne eyes widened in amazement and questioned the old man. ¡°Hey, this sword seems too good to be sold for only 40 gold coins.¡± The old man realizing what Sigvorn meant replied. ¡°Well yeah, but I can¡¯t help it. People say it¡¯s cursed. I can¡¯t sell something that people won¡¯t even bother, at a high price.¡± The old man sighed thinking Sigvorn will not continue his purchase, but his expectation was shattered when Sigvorn replied. ¡°Cursed or not, I¡¯ll be the judge for that!¡± The old man was surprised at how he said those words with eyes full of strength. The old man sat down and smiled. ¡°Then it¡¯s all yours.¡± Sigvorn gave the man exactly 40 gold coins. The old man then bowed as while muttering the word ¡®thanks¡¯. Sigvorn left the shop to go back to the guild. ¡°Ah, even though it¡¯s a long sword, it doesn¡¯t actually weigh much.¡± Saying this, Sigvorn was actually quite glad it was a weapon he could carry with his strength. While continuing his trip to the guild, he have been hearing voices ever since he got the sword. Sigvorn thought about what the old man said about the sword being cursed and went to confirm it by himself. He went to a dark alley In town and unsheathed his sword, only to discover the voice was coming from the sword itself. ¡°Ah! Finally I¡¯ve been freed from that prison like place!¡± A childish voice was coming from the sword. Sigvorn tried to confirm the voice¡¯s origins. ¡°Umm, you, the sword, is talking, right?¡± ¡°Isn¡¯t that obvious? Idiot!¡± Sigvorn was surprised by the sword and its manner of speaking. Sigvorn continued his barrage of question. ¡°Huh¡. How can a sword, like you, talk?¡± The sword went silent for a while, and with an angry voice, replied. ¡°I¡¯m a magic sword obviously, you idiot!¡± Sigvorn stopped for a while, gathering his thoughts. ¡°Eh?¡± Silence was filled in the dark alley. But that silence was immediately destroyed by a scream. ¡°EHHHHHHHH!?¡±

Chapter 2 - Ashrune ¡°H-H-Hey! You mean you¡¯re a magic sword?!¡± Sigvorn questioned the sword who seemed to be annoyed by Sigvorn¡¯s action. ¡°Didn¡¯t I just say so? Could you stop being surprised by every little thing you encounter?¡± The sword finished with a sigh. When Sigvorn immersed himself through the stories of adventurers when he was a child, he was aware of the existence of magic items. But this was the first time he encountered an intelligent magic item who could think and talk. He was able to obtain such a sword with a mere 40 gold coins. ¡°H-How can a magic item like you just worth 40 gold coins!?¡± Sigvorn continued his barrage of questions with a happy expression. It was extremely lucky to obtain such a sword with 40 gold coins. He could not contain his joy whilst looking to the sword from the blade to the hilt. ¡°Well, a lot of adventurers tried to buy me, but when I tried to talk to them, they freaked out and brought me back to that old man. I was starting to lose hope, then you came. You may be an idiot but you are truly a lifesaver.¡± Ignoring the sword¡¯s rude remark, Sigvorn continued his questions. ¡°By the way, I haven¡¯t heard of a magic item that could think and talk, what are you?¡± Sigvorn asked with a somewhat serious tone, noticing how serious Sigvorn was with his question, the sword coughed and introduced itself. ¡°I am one of those what you, humans, call as a magic sword. I hold the name Ashrune, unlike most magic items, I was created by Acldir, The God of Blacksmiths himself.¡± Sigvorn hearing the name Acldir, dropped his jaw in amazement. The God of Blacksmiths, Acldir!? Did I just get myself a formidable weapon? Sigvorn could not contain his excitement and but his excitement came to a halt as he realized something. ¡°If you are one of Acldir¡¯s creation, then why are you in Aedweif? Instead of being in Arusha, the God¡¯s continent?¡± Hearing this question, Ashrune became silent for a while and answered. ¡°I¡¯d rather not talk about it¡¡± Sigvorn being puzzled as Ashrune refused to answer, Ashrune immediately switched to another topic. ¡°Anyway, it¡¯s starting to go dark, do you have a place to stay?¡± Sigvorn tilted his head for a while and noticed that the sun has set. ¡°Ah! It¡¯s this late already! We need to find a place to stay!¡± Sigvorn yelled in panic, placing Ashrune back to its sheath and started to run a full speed. Ashrune could only sigh at his new master¡¯s silliness. **** Back to a certain rural place, a large scream filled with anger came from one of the house. With just a few minutes a crowd had already gathered, one of the men in the crowd stood forward and looked at the source of the scream. It was a middle aged man, his eyes were mean and full of anger. ¡°That child. That damn child! Argh!¡± He once again screamed in anger. The previous man who stood forward asked the cause of his anger. ¡°What happened here?¡± ¡°That child of mine, he took off with some of my food and my gold without even saying anything!¡± The surrounding villager could only frown at what happened. They knew that kid was at his rebellious phase but they didn¡¯t expect he would live the village. ¡°You¡¯ll regret it someday, Sigvorn!¡± A scream once again, ringed through the entire village. **** Sigvorn was walking around while muttering to himself. ¡°The inn last night cost me 4 gold coins, and for breakfast, I lost another 2 gold coins. 3 gold coins remained in me. I need to undertake a quest or I¡¯ll be sleeping in the middle of the streets tonight.¡± Walking a few distance, Sigvorn reached the Adventurer¡¯s Guild, as he entered, everyone¡¯s gazes were directed to Sigvorn, but immediately losing interest as they saw a child. Sigvorn looked around looking for Eustace and his company but to no avail. He went to the quest board and saw a variety of quests written on papers that were sticked on the board. ¡°If I remember correctly, an E ranked Adventurer like me can only do E and D ranked missions. Ashrune what do you think?¡± Ashrune released a ¡®Hmmm¡¯ sound as if thinking, and reached a decision. ¡°Then what about the D ranked goblin subjugation quest? I think it would fare well for an E ranked like you.¡±
D-Ranked Quest Quest Name: Goblin Subjugation Description: Defeat as many goblins as you can and bring their noses in the guild. Reward: Depends on the amount of nose you bring.
Sigvorn thought of Ashrune¡¯s suggestion for a while, he could not afford to be careless as he almost met his doom with those goblins. But with Ashrune on his side, Sigvorn thought it would be fine to accept the quest. Sigvorn reached out to the quest paper and removed it from the board and placed it inside his pocket. Sigvorn went outside of town to and started to look for goblins. As he stepped out, he immediately saw a group of goblins consisting of 4 in a distance. The goblins seemed to have not noticed him, he went near to observe the goblin¡¯s actions. They looked like they were having a conversation, but Sigvorn couldn¡¯t hear anything. Using this opportunity, Sigvorn slowly unsheathed Ashrune and charged through. When the goblins finally noticed Sigvorn¡¯s presence, one of the goblins have already died from a slash coming from Ashrune. The goblins realizing they were in danger instinctively unsheathed their knives. But before they could do a battle stance, one of the goblins were slashed horizontally by Sigvorn. He then stepped back and stared at the two remaining goblins. You could be reading stolen content. Head to Royal Road for the genuine story. ¡°Heh, What do you think, Ashrune?¡± Sigvorn proudly said in a somewhat arrogant tone. As he was busy praising himself, he didn¡¯t notice another goblin beside the two in front of him managed to sneak to him. But before the goblin could attack, a longsword which was created out of nothing appeared out of thin air and pierced through the goblin. ¡°W-W-What was that!?¡± ¡°Tsk, I¡¯ll explain after this fight. Just continue fighting!¡± Sigvorn held Ashrune tightly and charged. **** The field was left with 5 goblin down and Sigvorn standing. He sheathed Ashrune and unsheathed his dagger. He sliced the goblin¡¯s nose as proof of subjugation, Sigvorn was disgusted by the first and the second but after the third goblin, he had gotten used with their ugly state. "Sig, you''re pretty sloppy at your swordsmanship, Is this the first time you used a sword in battle?" "Ugh.. Pretty much. To be frank this was my first quest as an Adventurer." Ashrune unconsciously let out an ''Eh?'' and went into silence. Even though Sigvorn was an E ranked adventurer, Ashrune thought he had taken quests before and had experience in battle. After a few seconds of thinking, Ashrune gave Sigvorn an advice. "Sig, you should start training and polish your swordsmanship." "I know that. It''s just I was so excited in being an adventurer that I haven''t got time to train." Hearing this, Ashrune could only give a sigh. Sigvorn, who remembered the recent incident, began to ask Ashrune questions. ¡°So Ashrune, what happened a while ago? A sword just appeared out of nowhere!¡± ¡°Umm, how do I explain this¡? Ah, you could say it¡¯s my ability, you know how magic items have special abilities right? My ability can create and control those created swords. As long as you wield me, you¡¯ll have unlimited blades at your disposal. That is, if you supply me with mana.¡± Sigvorn¡¯s eyes shone in amazement He knew magic items contained such abilities unique to itself but what piqued his interest the most was its ability to create and manipulate swords. He decided to give it a try once again and held Ashrune tightly. ¡°Go Ashrune, make the swords.¡± Sigvorn demanded in a slightly arrogant manner. ¡°Then pour your mana into me.¡± ¡°Pour my mana? Eh, how do I do that?¡± Ashrune unconsciously let out an ¡®Eh¡¯ sound as if puzzled by what Sigvorn said. ¡°Didn¡¯t you just do it earlier at that battle?¡± Sigvorn tilted his head. ¡°No, I just panicked a bit then the sword came out of nowhere.¡± Ashrune became silent for a while and sighed. ¡°You must have poured mana on me without realizing it, listen I¡¯ll explain how you do it.¡± ¡°As you know, mana is everywhere in the world. You, Me, those trees and grasses, and even monsters have mana. Mana is power itself. Now, to create swords, imagine pouring your mana into me, like pouring water to a glass. Then imagine the sword and the place where you want it to appear.¡± Sigvorn followed Ashrune¡¯s explanation and gathered mana into his hand and transferred it to Ashrune. In a blink of an eye, a sword appeared out of thin air and was levitating in the middle of the air. Sigvorn was surprised at Ashrune¡¯s ability and tried to control it. He imagined the sword moving around him at a circular motion and the sword did as imagined. ¡°Woah! This is amazing, Ashrune!¡± ¡°I guess, anyway, let¡¯s continue the subjugation and hit the sack.¡± ¡°Yeah!¡± Sigvorn began to find another group of goblins and blazed through in an instant with his newfound abilities. **** Sigvorn went back to the Adventurer¡¯s Guild to turn in the goblin¡¯s nose he hunted. All in all, he was able to collect 26 noses. It was pretty impressive for his first quest. The receptionist was surprised by the amount of noses he collected but she immediately went back to her charming smile. As expected of a professional. The receptionist placed the noses inside a sack bag and placed it in the back room, when she came back, she was holding a pouch. ¡°26 noses amounted to 280 gold coins.¡± The receptionist smiled as she handed the pouch over to Sigvorn. Sigvorn was happy with the amount he obtained, it was the first time he held such an amount of money. He received the pouch with a happy expression and thanked the receptionist. The receptionist smiled back and gave her farewell. ¡°Ashrune, we should hit the sack for now and spend this money tomorrow.¡± ¡°I agree. You better start training tomorrow as well.¡± Sigvorn went to the inn where he slept yesterday and rented a room. He lay himself on the bed and immediately went to sleep.

Chapter 3 - The Thousand Swords Good day. As this is my first work of fiction, I would like to ask for feedback from you readers for to polish my writing skills. I am very open to any sort of criticism. Today, I would like to say something. I have decided to upload one chapter once every three days as daily releases puts a heavy strain on my schedule. Please understand. _________________________________________________________________________________ It was already late morning when Sigvorn woke up, equipped with the usual Ashrune, he sets out to look for equipment. The shop specializing in armors, robes, and clothes were just nearby so he knew where to look. As he went inside, he was greeted by a cheerful teenage girl. ¡°Welcome! How may I help you today?¡± ¡°Ah, I¡¯m getting equipment for myself.¡± ¡°Then I can help you with that! Looking at your stature, a light armor should suffice for your needs.¡± Sigvorn thought for a while and looked around the shop. An armor made of leather with a cape attached at the back. Sigvorn suddenly showed interest. When Sigvorn was a child, the heroes in his story books always wore a cape, which he found heroic. Looking back to the girl, he pointed at the armor in display. ¡°Ah, is this what you want sir?¡± As Sigvorn nodded, the girl went a carried the armor from the display to the table. The girl immediately checked if there were any damage in the armor. Finding there was none, she presented the armor to Sigvorn. ¡°This armor costs 140 gold.¡± Sigvorn with money to spare, didn¡¯t hesitate to buy the armor. Seeing Sigvorn¡¯s excitement to wear the said armor, she took the initiative and led Sigvorn to one of the fitting rooms of the shop. After a few minutes, Sigvorn went out of the fitting room. ¡°Hmm, it is slightly loose, but I think it will be a perfect fit when I grow a little bit.¡± Seeing Sigvorn¡¯s satisfaction, the girl bowed as Sigvorn prepared for his leave. After a few seconds, Sigvorn went and took his leave from the shop, the girl waved at him as he went farther away. ¡°So I think I¡¯ll start training.¡± Sigvorn muttered. Ashrune, who heard Sigvorn, agreed with his decision. ¡°Good idea.¡± Sigvorn¡¯s plan which was suggested by Ashrune, was to take a jog around town in the morning and spend slaying monsters outside of town the rest of the day. Sigvorn followed Ashrune¡¯s plan for a whole week. **** A few days have passed since Sigvorn was training. Today, Sigvorn was headed to the guild to take a quest. He haven¡¯t took a single quest recently as he was focusing on making himself stronger. He currently had around 60 gold coins left, but found it necessary to make more. A few minutes of walking, Sigvorn didn¡¯t noticed he was already in front of the guild. There was a crowd near the guild. Looking at the situation, something seems to be happening. He went forward to confirm the situation and saw a fight going on, a man around the age of twenty-five was standing arrogantly who was carrying a large broadsword, while a young man around his twenties was laying on the ground. ¡°Huh, is that the best you can do?¡± ¡°Y-You bastard¡¡± Sigvorn asked one of the people who were watching the fight what happened, the man explained that the older man became angry when the younger man accidentally bumped him, the young man sincerely apologized but instead, the older man began to punch the young man¡¯s face. A sword fight broke out and the winner was, obviously, the one who was currently standing. Nobody seemed to intercept the fight as the older man was a B ranked adventurer and the young man was a D ranked adventurer. In a peaceful town such as Hazelbury, mostly, the highest rank of quest the guild could provide is B rank. That¡¯s why it is such a rare sight to see even a B ranked adventurer and higher in Hazelbury. Seeing this spectacle, Sigvorn¡¯s sense of justice immediately lit up and approached the two. ¡°Stop!¡± Sigvorn yelled in a somewhat stoic manner. The older man who noticed this, looked at Sigvorn¡¯s direction. ¡°Huh, who are you?¡± Sigvorn, hearing this, thought it was an opportunity to spread his name throughout the world. It may be a childish action but he dreams of being a well-known adventurer. He gazed at the man and grinned. ¡°I am Sigvorn of the Thousand Swords.¡± The entire crowd suddenly fell into awkward silence. The silence made Sigvorn uneasy, The name he made for himself was just created a few days ago, he didn¡¯t knew how it sounded to others. But he had to say it nonetheless. Unauthorized usage: this narrative is on Amazon without the author''s consent. Report any sightings. After a few seconds, the silence was destroyed as the older man laughed loudly. ¡°Hahahaha! ¡®Sigvorn of the Thousand Swords¡¯? How interesting! I haven¡¯t heard of you before but as you are fellow famed warrior such as me, I will introduce myself. I am known in the northern lands by the name of Devin the Brute! Surely killing someone of your caliber would bring me great fame!¡± In the world of Esloria, famous adventurers, outlaws, demons, and heroes had nicknames to spread their fame. Devin thought that Sigvorn was one of those famous warriors and challenged him. Sigvorn who was grinning the whole time unsheathed his sword, making the surrounding townspeople retreat a few paces. Devin went to the initiative and held his hand out. ¡°Let the flames go wild on my hands, Fireball!¡± A ball of fire headed onto Sigvorn¡¯s direction, He dodged the flame flawlessly but didn¡¯t notice Devin was already in front of him, the fireball was merely to distract Sigvorn. By instinct, Sigvorn raised Ashrune to block Devin¡¯s blade. As their swords came into contact. Sigvorn realized the strength of his enemy as he was struggling to hold on. Devin who saw his advantage began to use more force and tried to crush Sigvorn. ¡°His strength is the real deal. But¡.¡± Even though Sigvorn was struggling, he was grinning. Devin thought it was because Sigvorn enjoyed battle but when he heard a sound coming from above, he immediately retreated. Devin eyes widened as he saw a sword stabbed the ground. ¡°Huh, what¡¯s this?¡± Devin had a puzzled expression, the sword Sigvorn was wielding and the sword stabbed on the ground were similar. Sigvorn, who noticed Devin¡¯s expression, poured more mana into Ashrune and three swords appeared out of thin air floated at his back. Seeing this, Devin had a surprised look marked on his face. ¡°Now, do you see why I am called Sigvorn of the Thousand Swords?¡± Sigvorn bragged. Ashrune, who noticed how happy Sigvorn was, gave him a word of encouragement. ¡°You seem to be enjoying yourself. Anyways, show him the fruits of your training.¡± ¡°Yeah, I know.¡± Satisfied with Sigvorn¡¯s answer, Ashrune went silent. Devin who was fascinated by Sigvorn¡¯s abilities began to speak. ¡°Interesting! Even though you look like a brat, you are truly someone worthy of their name, now it is time to show why they call me Devin the Brute!¡± Sigvorn used the three floating swords and aimed it towards Devin, but with a single slash, the three swords were shattered into pieces. Devin charge through with full power, Sigvorn managed to block the sword but was still blown a few paces away. ¡°W-What the!? His strike was stronger than before!¡± ¡°Oi Sig, Are you all right?¡± ¡°Y-Yeah, pretty much.¡± Sigvorn stood up, if he had received a direct hit from Devin, he would have died even with his leather armor protecting him. He analyzed Devin¡¯s fighting style from their encounter and noticed that his swordsmanship was average, but what makes him a force to be reckoned with is his tremendous strength. Sigvorn began to wait for Devin¡¯s attack. As Devin charged, Sigvorn smiled, and whispered to himself. ¡°As expected, his strength is real, but his technique lacks. His attacks are predictable, I can do this.¡± As Devin slashed through Sigvorn¡¯s position, his attack was easily evaded. Devin being surprised almost lost his balance. Sigvorn saw his opening and went for the attack, leaving a deep wound on Devin¡¯s shoulder. Devin, who clenched his teeth, retreated a few steps. ¡°Tsk, I messed up.¡± Before Devin could retaliate, Sigvorn created five swords which were pointed at Devin¡¯s neck. Devin who realized he lost the battle, dropped his sword. ¡°Kill me, I¡¯d rather die than live in shame of being spared by my enemy.¡± Sigvorn who saw this showed a puzzle expression. ¡°What are you talking about? If I killed you, then who would spread my name?¡± Sigvorn smiled like an innocent young man. Devin who was surprised by what he said, returned a smile. He thought how satisfying would it be to serve under the man who was standing before him, Devin heard the footsteps of the town guards who were arriving at the scene, before he lost his consciousness.
