 Prologue-The Descent

    THE DESCENT


    The Rocky mountains.


    This place was especially known as a land that housed different kinds of dangerous beasts ranging from 30ft long pythons to the ferocious two-headed asura lion. Within the mountains, in a cave, a man could be seen in a lotus position meditating with his eyes closed as a blue transparent sphere that lit up the cave slowly rotated around him.If someone looked closer at the man that was hovering at the center of the sphere, they would see an aged man with a long white hair that extended to his shoulders with a muscular body that seemed to want to burst out of his cloth. This contradicting appearance made one doubt if this man was truly as old as he looked. He suddenly opened his eyes and a smile formed on his face. The blue sphere that lit up the cave slowly dissipated as the man turned into a wisp of green smoke and faded away.


    A few seconds later, outside the cave, green smoke gathered to form the figure of the man that was just in the cave earlier. As the man fully formed under the bright sunlight that illuminated the terrain, he looked up at the blue sky, but his expression immediately changed. The face that was smiling earlier could not be seen, instead, an expression of fear mixed with astonishment replaced it. An object moving at an astonishing speed was descending from the sky. As the man saw the object falling from the sky, he immediately clasped his palms together, his fair skin began to turn into bronze color, his white hair started to flutter and his body began to emit a strange energy . A dark blue sphere appeared around him and slowly but rapidly increased its speed as it revolved.


    BOOM!!


    As the object landed, a loud sound of explosion followed by a shock wave it emitted shot through the surrounding area up to a radius of a thousand meters. The shock wave turned every object it came in contact with into dust and left a black scorched land in its wake, including the mountains and beasts within the affected area.The result was nothing short of a natural disaster!.


    Within the affected area, the only living thing that could be seen was the old man. It was all thanks to the rotating dark blue sphere created at the nick of time that he was still whole. The sphere barrier deflected the shock wave and debris caused by the explosion, keeping the man inside it safe.


    When the chaos receded and the surrounding area became visible, what was left of the terrain around the object was nothing but a flat, scorched black, barren land. A crater could be seen at the middle of the area. The man cautiously approached the crater to discover what could cause this unprecedented destruction. He made sure to keep up the sphere barrier on in case a dangerous beast emerged from within the crater. As he got close enough to the crater, he could hear crackling sounds of lightning. In the crater a figure was cloaked in something that looked like black ooze . The ooze seemed to exude red sparks of lightning.

    Chi~Chi~Chi~Chi


    The ooze that cloaked the figure started to gather at a point and the figure it concealed slowly unraveled. The figure it concealed was a boy, a naked boy. The boy was dark skinned and had a deep red hair with a plump face that indicated the boy was no more than 4 years of age if not less. As the ooze gathered at the boy¡¯s chest, it started to glow red and immediately dispersed throughout his upper body. The ooze formed strange red glowing characters that looked like writings all over his body and the ooze, or now strange characters, sank into his body and disappeared without a trace.


    The man who stood at the edge of the crater was astounded as he watched the scene unfold in front of him. He has never before seen anything like this throughout his life. Little did he know that this event would mark the beginning of a legend¡¯s tale that would be retold throughout the continent, even to the ends of the boundless universe.

And soon, I became addicted to it, I was actually looking for novels to read and this site was recommended to me, and guess what, now am writing a novel.  Chapter 1 (part 1) : Change

    There were a lot of people gathered in a cubic shaped hall. A tense atmosphere radiated the room as a mixture of excitement and anticipation could be felt from the people that gathered in the room. On the platform at the front of the hall, three aged men were sitting down on decorated seats overlooking the crowd gathered in the hall. They wore similar long white robes that had the figure of a majestic crane holding onto a branch with its talons stitched across the chest area of the robe to adorn it. The man sitting on the left seemed to be discussing with the one in the middle.


    ¡°Elder Dickson, who do you think is the most talented youth among the ones gathered here today?¡± The aged men that sat at the left asked as he looked towards the one at the middle.


    ¡°Well, considering their age group, Sanya shows the most promise considering he has already advanced to the 5th stage of origin for a while now and he hasn¡¯t showed up for the skill test.¡± The man at the middle smiled as he spoke.


    ¡° Haha first elder, you can¡¯t be so sure that he has advanced to the 5th stage of origin. And even if he is at the fifth stage of origin, it doesn¡¯t mean he is the most talented. In fact, Bana is also at the 5th stage of origin and he is under 14 years old. If not that this skill test is done every two years and the age restriction is 15 years old, he wouldn¡¯t have participated in this year¡¯s test considering the progress he can make in 2 years.¡±


    ¡°As expected of the disciple of the 3rd elder Mabu. You have never disappointed me once unlike some other person that brings ¡®waste¡¯ into the clan.     ¡°Haha, of course that¡¯s to be expected. Bana is not just my disciple, he is my grandson and he¡¯s got the blood of his grandfather flowing in his veins. For him to be even compared to ¡®a waste¡¯ is really undeserving of his potential.¡± The man on the left answered with a mocking smile.


    ¡° What do you have to say 2nd elder Tupe, or don¡¯t you think we are deserving of your opinion?¡± Elder Mabu asked the quiet man in a condescending manner, obviously trying to arouse the man¡¯s anger. But the man just ignored Elder Mabu and continued to look towards the crowd gathered in the room. Elder Mabu¡¯s face became twisted as he began to boil with anger when he saw that the man just ignored him without even looking at him.


    The conversation was definitely loud enough for the 2nd elder to hear that even the people close enough to the platform could hear it. In fact, the purpose of the conversation was to provoke the 2nd elder. First Elder Dickson and Third Elder Mabu both knew Bana was the most talented participant, it was even no news to all the people who had gathered in anticipation of the test but they wanted to provoke the 2nd elder. Since three years ago, Elder Dickson and Elder Mabu have used every opportunity they had to provoke Elder Mabu because of his inept disciple. In this martial world, power was everything. The strong owned all and the weak owned none. It is even known that the practitioners who have reached the peak of their martial arts are so formidable that they have godlike abilities like abilities to split mountains and live indefinitely.

    Elder Mabu also knew this fact, which was why he always ignored them whenever they spited him. What made matters even worse was that his disciple was not originally from the clan. Initially, when Elder Tupe brought the child to the clan, the other elders were not happy about it because Elder Tupe had never accepted any disciple so they were jealous of the boy¡¯s potential. But as soon as the boy started cultivating and they discovered he was of even less than average talent, they were the first people to start making fun of Tupe for making a ¡®waste¡¯ his disciple. But despite how much they provoked Tupe, he did not even show a change in attitude towards the boy, he adopted him as a son and most times, he had to protect the boy from offensive remarks and actions from the clan which further aggravated their actions but of course, he can¡¯t always protect him from everyone at every time.


    ¡° Ahem Ahem.... Be quiet everyone¡± Elder Dickson cleared his throat as he stood up from his seat and addressed the audience that gathered. ¡° Welcome to this biennial event to determine the talented youths who hold the hope of our clan. As we all know, this event is held for everyone between the age of 14 and 15 who haven¡¯t taken the skills test. If you are within this age group and you haven¡¯t taken your skills test, come up to this  platform and line up in front of me.¡±


    One by one, the teenagers filed out from within the crowd onto the platform and stood in a single horizontal line in front of Elder Dickson. ¡°The test will be divided into two sections¡­ The ki test and the meridian test. The ki test will be used to know your cultivation level and the meridian test will be used to know how much internal energy you can use. 3rd Elder Mabu will take it from here.¡± Elder Dickson said as a cold smile appeared on his face.


    ¡°I have a bad feeling about this,what are they trying to accomplish?, Elder Dickson should have just led the participants straight to the inner chamber to begin the test¡± Elder Tupe frowned slightly while thinking to himself .


    Mabu stood up from his seat and walked towards Dickson. He nodded at Dickson who replied back with a nod, and Mabu¡¯s face that was all twisted up in anger earlier was replaced with a sinister smile when he began to address the audience.¡°This year, we have made some changes to the skill¡¯s test.¡±
