《Azura》 Prologue: Earths Magic, A story cut short? Scattered throughout history, tales of magic abound, from witches in Salem to the gods of Greece. These myths persist. What if, at the pinnacle of the world, those leading scientific discovery aren''t truly the best and brightest? Could it be that, despite appearances, everyone, regardless of their intelligence, is utterly ignorant of the fundamental truths of the universe? That each person we know remains oblivious to a basic, universal reality? Over the years, history itself has conspired to conceal the one true power in the universe, giving rise to empires and even their deities. The existence of magic is no mere myth but a concrete reality. Orphaned at the tender age of three, I spent five years alongside other unfortunate children. Then came the day when Jade, cloaked in dark green, her feminine charms hidden from view, arrived to take me home. Only her face was visible. With grace, she moved through the room, tending to each child in turn until she stood before me. When I finally beheld her in detail, words escaped me. I was entranced by her bright green eyes, deaf to her words. And so, I was whisked away into the night, diverging from the path of mortals to enter a society shrouded in secrecy for millennia. In this clandestine place, I delved into advanced science and the arcane. Others tirelessly researched more potent, unique magics, and one day, I might have joined their ranks. Most magic practitioners entered a world teeming with magic around the age of twenty, primarily to reunite with their parents. Being an orphan, I was an exception. Years passed, and I never experienced a mother''s love, only unrelenting, agonizing training. Yet, through it, I progressed swiftly. After each session, Jade would approach me, uttering, "You did well," before walking away, leaving me sprawled on the floor.Find this and other great novels on the author''s preferred platform. Support original creators! Thus, the years flowed, with her instilling the fundamentals of magic within me, despite the unspeakable tortures she called training. In the blink of an eye, a decade passed, and I was hailed as the most formidable magician of my generation, my abilities unnaturally augmented by my mentor. On my eighteenth birthday, Jade appeared in an elegant deep green dress, complemented by emerald earrings and a necklace. She forced me into a suit and led me down to the basement. The room was dimly lit, with faint lines on the floor forming an intricate magical circle. As Jade entered, the circle began to radiate with increasing intensity. Confidently, Jade approached the circle, weaving runes as the light grew blinding, leaving me in the dark about her intentions. For the first time, I witnessed my immortal master wielding a wand! Even against the most formidable of magicians, a mere gesture of her hand made problems vanish. As the light dimmed, a massive blue reptile, roughly the size of a horse, materialized within the circle. Its fury was evident, as it amassed mana. The mana it gathered surpassed my own power at least tenfold, though I was just a novice magician. How could it nonchalantly wield such might? This creature rivaled an expert, perhaps even a master or a king. I shrank into the smallest form I could. "Bind it with your blood." What? Jade, no longer tense, had stowed her wand and was retreating from the circle. Wide-eyed, I had no words. "Cut your hand and let your blood fall onto the circle; my magic will take care of the rest. No need to fret." I wasn''t concerned about the how; I wanted to know why. Her tone brooked no questions, so I cautiously approached the circle. Just as I reached its edge, I sensed a change in the mana currents before me. I leaped to the side, narrowly avoiding the flames that erupted from the lizard''s maw. Had the blast not halted at the circle''s edge, I''d have perished. Jade wore a hint of a smile as I glanced at her. I scrambled to find a knife, locating a silver, gem-encrusted dagger on a nearby table. Returning to the circle''s edge, I examined the blade. After hesitating, I looked to Jade. She simply nodded, and I gripped the blade with my left hand, drawing it across my palm. Crimson drops formed slowly. One, two, three, four. With each drop, the light faded, and the barrier dissipated. Jade smiled, a sight I''d never witnessed before. My vision blurred, and I collapsed. Glancing at my hand, I watched it vanish, leaving only ash in its wake. Our souls bound as master and servant by blood, I now understood. My new familiar was the dragon king Reliam. Our bond prevented him from killing me, but Jade hadn''t considered that it merely spared my soul from destruction. If one were to die, their killer would face death as well. Reliam had preserved my soul at the last moment, expelling it from my body. As I slipped into the void, guided by magic, I had no inkling of what awaited my soul. Chapter 1: A Chained Soul? Certainly, here''s an edited version of the text: Before we proceed, allow me to introduce myself. I am Isaac, Isaac Hill, son of no one, at least as far as my knowledge goes. The name Hill was bestowed upon me by my master, and while it''s not particularly imaginative, I had no reason to object at the time. My master, Jade, doesn''t possess a last name. Being an immortal, her memories of such things have faded over her three-thousand-year existence. When a human attains a certain level of power, they embark on the path to immortality, often referred to as the path of the gods. Even magicians of lesser strength experience extended lifespans. I, on the other hand, was a novice magician, expected to live for over two hundred and fifty years. Most who knew my age assumed I would significantly enhance my power before the end of my life. Despite having the abilities of a novice magician, my knowledge was severely lacking. Aside from the most fundamental magic and magical principles, I was virtually ignorant. Many people could perform basic magic but wouldn''t qualify as novice magicians due to their lack of power. Hence, it''s considered more critical to comprehend universal laws and bolster one''s own power. My life was largely dedicated to training and rigorous experimentation. I always knew that my end would likely come as a result of my master''s experiments, but I hadn''t expected it to take this long. I''d like to say that this is where our story begins, but sadly, it isn''t. This is merely the point where I''m granted a fresh lease on life. When I awoke, I began to wonder if what had happened was merely a dream or if my master had somehow saved me from death. Regrettably, that wasn''t the case. As I looked around, the room was shrouded in darkness, and I couldn''t make out any discernible details. Nevertheless, I could make out the presence of a bed, desk, chair, mirror, cabinet, and a door. After a moment to collect myself, I heard the sound of breathing and turned my attention to the bed, where a muscular man and a young girl around my age were sound asleep. Slipping out from under the covers, I noticed something familiar¡ªa spirit bond! Following its ethereal trail, I finally comprehended my situation. Where my legs should have been, there was instead a genie''s smoky trail connecting me to the sleeping woman. Reliam had bonded my soul to another person! Moving about in a manner similar to astral projection, I exited the house through a window. As I surveyed my surroundings, I found myself in a log cabin village. To dispel any thoughts of a rustic retreat, I noticed a small stone tower, and the town itself was enclosed by a two-meter stone wall. As I made my way toward the tower, I could see torches mounted at intervals along the wall. Along the way, I passed a staircase that appeared as though it were intended to be collapsed. Flying faster, I swiftly arrived at the guard tower. I refer to it as such due to the presence of two men standing outside in armor. While they didn''t wear full suits of armor, they did sport metal chest plates and leather coverings for most of their bodies. They seemed more prepared for agility than heavy defense. From these observations, it became evident that Reliam had cast my soul far from Earth. Fortunately, I had already accepted the inevitability of my body''s destruction, so this transition did not trigger overwhelming panic. Taking a moment to compose myself, I resumed my exploration of the town¡ªor perhaps I should call it a village, consisting of seventeen houses. Four of these houses featured only two bedrooms and accommodated families of four or five. Ten houses boasted three bedrooms, while the remaining three had four bedrooms. Oddly enough, despite my host possessing a four-bedroom house, only two of the rooms were in use: one for herself and her husband, and the other for a servant girl. Having thoroughly explored the village, I decided to return to my host. With the sun rising, I arrived just in time to follow her down the stairs. The servant girl was already awake, preparing breakfast. "Good morning, Madam," said the brunette in her maid outfit as she skillfully made pancakes. With better lighting now, I could discern that my host stood at around five feet tall. She had striking deep blue hair and captivating blue eyes. Being a fifteen-year-old boy, I couldn''t help but scrutinize her appearance closely. "Morning, Sam," I greeted her. Despite appearing to be my age, she emitted an aura of maturity, possibly due to her status as a magician, preserving her youth. However, I couldn''t help but wonder why she hadn''t noticed my presence yet. If I truly were bound to her, any respectable magician should have detected my existence by now. Upon closer inspection, the soul trail originating from my legs was now more visible. Previously, I had assumed it connected to her heart or soul, but I was completely mistaken. Instead, it traveled downward, leading straight to the girl''s ankle before turning ninety degrees upward from the floor. Not one to be bashful, I was more of an eccentric and curious individual. Like any other young genius, I followed the soul trail to investigate further. As the young lady sat down, it made it easier to bypass her ankle-length skirt. All she might have felt was a cold breeze as my spirit passed by. Upon reaching my destination, the world around me turned black. I felt as though I was entirely restrained. To counter this, I began employing magic to strengthen and maintain my current vessel while retreating into my soul. Inside my soul, there lay an immense mana ocean. I say "was" because now, in the midst of it, stood a substantial mountain composed of a more tangible energy. If I had to venture a guess, I''d call it Chi. It was a well-known fact that some individuals were born with copious amounts of mana, while others possessed significant reserves of Chi. Although they followed different paths, they coexisted in the same world. Ultimately, both paths led to either death or immortality. Considering my inner world had not been like this just a few days ago, I attributed this transformation to Reliam. Now equipped with an idea of how to contact my master, I swiftly soared towards the mountain. After an indeterminate period of searching, I discovered it¡ªor, to be precise, what seemed to be a doggie door adorned with magic circles and draconic decorations. This door symbolized our soul bond. When I opened the door, it drained over half of my mana reserves, but it finally brought Reliam into view. He appeared before me, shrunken to the size of a puppy and covered in wounds. I couldn''t conceal my smile, for I could only assume that my master was responsible for inflicting such pain on him. However, my smile vanished when Reliam caught sight of me and the gate he had come through. Instantaneously, anger, resentment, and rage painted his face. In a split second, Reliam launched an attack on me. I was compelled to defend myself, employing ice magic to pierce his flesh and immobilize his legs. Refusing to relent, he started gathering mana for a dragon''s breath attack. In a bid to prevent this, I swiftly enclosed him in an ice box, fortifying it with the last remnants of my mana. As he unleashed his acidic breath, I doubled over in agony. Although it hadn''t directly hit me, an enormous amount of mana had been expended inside my soul, combined with my complete depletion of personal mana just before the attack. With both of our mana reserves depleted, I collapsed shortly after, while Reliam remained trapped within the ice. Upon awakening with my mana restored, I immediately focused on Reliam. As he was not within his own soul, his power regenerated more slowly than mine, granting me the advantage.Ensure your favorite authors get the support they deserve. Read this novel on Royal Road. With my magic, I confined his soul, rendering him incapable of anything but speech. Had we not been within my soul, I would have perished in our initial encounter, despite being his master. Surviving had taught me the importance of avoiding such confrontations. Therefore, when Reliam regained consciousness, he was even more furious than before. Using his soul as a link, I seized control of Reliam''s body to convey a message to my master via possession. Afterward, I departed the area, allowing him time to cool down. Leaving my soul, I once again found myself in my dark prison. After spending around four months inside my soul, it felt different to inhabit a physical body. Now, I was slightly less constrained, with the ability to move my arms and legs. Gradually, I recognized the sounds around me as those of the girl and her servant. With a glimmer of hope, I attempted astral projection, and fortunately, my mana was no longer restricted. Emerging from the gap between her thighs, I passed through her skirt once more, observing that the blue-haired woman appeared to be seven to eight months pregnant. I had been reincarnated! That dragon had thrown me a curveball, reincarnating my soul into another world to evade servitude and death. However, in the end, he only suffered torment at the hands of both my master and me once I had a chance to confront him. Having realized this, I knew I would have to return and exact my revenge. Over the next week, I observed my new family: my parents, Aura and Magnus Grace, and the maid, Samantha. Aura was an emperor-class mage, while my father and Sam were merely master-level combatants. My father was the sole warrior in the household. Breaking down the power hierarchy in this world was straightforward: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, Expert, Master, King, Emperor, Saint, Angel, Immortal, Demi-God, Lesser God, and God. Though this is the simplified version, each tier contained nine levels and had distinct titles for various professions. For magicians, the breakdown was as follows: Beginner = Magician, Intermediate = Wizard, Advanced = Arch Mage, Expert = Witch/Warlock, Master = Sorceress/Sorcerer, King = Magical King, and Emperor = Elementalist. Saint, Angel, Immortal, Demi-God, Lesser God, and God retained their respective titles without embellishment. Those who could not meet the basic requirements for this ranking were known as mages, or practitioners if they lacked Chi. Returning to my soul, my initial action was to freeze Reliam solid, then thaw him with intense light magic before freezing him again. Afterward, I allowed him to calm down, checking on him roughly every twenty-four hours to see if he was willing to engage in conversation. After about a dozen attempts, he stopped cursing me on sight. Having long since decided to use this as a gauge of his temperament, I approached him while simultaneously weaving defensive magic. "In your infinite wisdom, dear master, what new form of torment have you chosen to grace me with this time?" His voice dripped with sarcasm, but I refrained from launching any offensive spells. "Would you like your freedom, Reliam?" After subjecting him to months of torture at my hands, I had hoped he might plead for his release. "Like hell you''d ever release me, just so I can return and end you!" He bellowed as loudly as my restraints allowed. Regrettably, since he doubted my intentions, I was compelled to reveal my true purpose to capture his attention and progress our conversation. "I desire your offspring, Reliam." Instantly, the air around him heated up, nearly causing my original ice prison to melt. This time, I resorted to an elemental binding. By overlapping multiple elements, the strength of this new prison was exponentially enhanced, despite its modest mana consumption. It used only a fraction of the mana, yet the initial desperate defense was still four or five times more potent. "RRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWRRRRRR!!" He violently shattered my original ice prison, crashing against the elemental cage with full force. Recognizing that it would take him at least a month to break free, he finally calmed down. Once again, I was thankful for the advantage of being in familiar territory and having the upper hand as his master. "All I seek is to soul-bond with the most powerful of your offspring from birth. In return, I shall release you from your bond, and my master will grant you your freedom." Upon hearing this, the light gradually returned to his eyes. It was evident that I had finally captured his attention after his months of absence. With that, I released Reliam, returning him to his own body, and securely sealed the door. It consumed a significant portion of my power, but I imprisoned the door itself as an added precaution. Afterward, I dedicated the remainder of my day to refining my Chi control, utilizing techniques I had previously learned from my master and extracted from Reliam. Conveniently, I could perceive through Reliam''s eyes, hear what he heard, and even cast magic through him. Using this method, I had been telepathically communicating with Jade. Unfortunately, the difficulty had increased since Reliam''s soul had been returned to his body. I could no longer exert full control over him, although I retained the capability. However, attempting to control him would only incite his anger, and he would fiercely resist me. Throughout this period, my magical and Chi abilities improved at an astounding rate. Although I had yet to reach the intermediate tier, the progress was undeniable. Unable to increase my abilities further, I concentrated on mastering control over these two energies, with a particular focus on refining and purifying my Chi. My progress had been notable, advancing from beginner level one to beginner level two in just a month¡ªa respectable achievement, considering the relatively short duration of my training. However, my training session was abruptly interrupted. I lost track of time and was shaken out of my focus. The once-calm mana ocean churned with waves, creating a turbulent sensation. Fierce winds whirled around, and the Chi-infused earth quivered intensely. It was evident that something significant was occurring within my new body. Leaving the sanctuary of my soul, I opted to bypass reentering my physical body. Instead, I focused on extending my soul outward. During this attempt, I found myself face to face with someone. If my memory served me correctly, it was the servant girl, Sam. Glancing behind me, I spotted my new mother lying on the bed, her lower body uncovered. Drawing upon memories from my teacher''s health class, I comprehended the situation. Today marked the official beginning of my life in this world¡ªthe true start of my story. I couldn''t help but chuckle at my earlier thoughts. After all, what could one expect from a newborn, a one-year-old, a toddler, or even a three or four-year-old? They were all just children, with their main job being to grow and learn. In my case, I anticipated at least another five years of training while simultaneously enhancing my magical abilities as my body matured. It was also crucial to reserve some power to sustain myself, as I would require more energy than usual. Shifting aside in my ethereal form, I adopted a bird''s-eye view. Letting my physical body function on autopilot was the most prudent choice. Getting involved in my own birth could lead to unnecessary complications, and I had no desire to disrupt my development due to asphyxiation. So, I simply observed. The experience was undeniably strange, watching my own birth. It wasn''t bad, just profoundly unusual. After hours of listening to Aura''s cries of pain, my tiny head finally began to emerge. Even though I wasn''t inside my own body, my senses remained connected. I now understood the initial cries a baby made upon entering the world. "Cold hands! Cold hands!" "Whaaaa, whaaaa, waaaa," I cried, and with that, Sam announced my arrival as a beautiful, healthy baby girl. Upon hearing this, the first thing I did was to double-check what she said. Even though it only took moments for Samantha to clean me, I managed to catch a glimpse of myself before being swaddled in a soft, warm blanket. After confirming that I had indeed been reborn as a girl, my mind was flooded with thoughts. "Genderbender Tensei" was the first that flashed through my mind, followed by countless others. Once my mind had calmed, I channeled a surge of mana into my soul, crashing it against Reliam''s gate. I could hear his screams without even entering my soul. Reliam was exceptionally vulnerable to his master''s magic applied through the master-servant bond due to the circles on the gate itself. This magic also allowed me to communicate with Master Jade. Now that I was fully integrated into this world, it felt as though a veil had been lifted. My vision improved, becoming sharper and more vibrant. Suddenly, things that weren''t there before became visible, like translucent, paper-thin wings on my mother''s back and slightly pointed ears. I would later discover that she usually concealed this appearance from others, with it only having slipped out due to pain. Samantha, on the other hand, did not hide her unique features. Even though she didn''t conceal the bunny ears now atop her head or the fluffy tail sticking out of her dress, my earthly eyes couldn''t perceive them. Fortunately, the language remained English, allowing me to understand what they were saying. It appeared that I was considered a miracle child. My parents had been trying to conceive for the past 50 years, and they had only just now welcomed their first child. My father was 187 years old, and my mother, well, she was over 300 years old. As far as I knew, my father didn''t even know her true age. One day, while I was floating about, I overheard Sam asking about her age. Still cradled in Sam''s loving embrace, my newborn self let out cries of hunger, the sound echoing in the room like soft melodies. Samantha swayed gently as she carried me towards my awaiting mother. As I approached, Aura, my mother, began to undress the top half of her body. Remarkably, despite having just given birth, her stomach had already regained its toned form. Her graceful limbs and modestly sized, perky breasts formed a harmonious ensemble, a picture of petite beauty. With a tender touch, she took me from Samantha''s arms and nestled me against her bosom, prompting a subtle gasp of discomfort. My newborn instincts took over without hesitation as I latched onto her breast, eager to drink her nourishing milk. I approached the task with an instinctual determination, drawing the milk into my mouth and swallowing rhythmically. As the first cries of discomfort emanated from my mother, Samantha quickly began to cast a healing spell, soothing her pain. In tandem with this, I adjusted my technique to make the feeding more comfortable for her. Once her breast had returned to its natural size, I was gently moved to the other side, allowing me to continue my meal. As I drank, the soothing sensation of milk and the gentle presence of my mother gradually lulled me into sleep. With my tiny belly satisfied, I drifted into slumber, my consciousness retreating to the depths of my soul, ready to embark on this new journey of life. Chapter 2: Pheonix Mage Thanks for reading hope you like the chapter and voice anything wrong or dis-likable with it in the comments
I woke up to a soft voice talking in another room "Madam I''ve never heard of a female incubus or a fairy with horns, are you sure Azura is alright?" "Most likely our two dominant races are both refusing to give into each other, she''ll be alright." This time around it was a far deeper voice that spoke. Leaving my body I quickly flew towards the voices in time to see my new mother speak. "Dear are you sure she''s going to be alright?" Giving her a comforting look my father just nodded his head. It seems I''m a half breed names Azura my mother being a fairy a race solely female with a deep connection to magic, and my father an incubus an entirely male race. Hearing this I was surprised I was even born let alone to two previously mythological races, what''s going to come next a minotaur? Then again dragons exist why can''t a minotaur.. maybe even some lizard people are going to show themselves trying to eat me¡ After a little while I was able to determine they worried not just about my race, but my own abilities as well. "Even if she doesn¡¯t have any chi or natural energy she''s still blessed with a fairies magic!" Hearing this surprised me since obviously I had chi within my soul. My father hearing this showed a very angry expression, something borderline rage with a massive amount of depression mixed in. "Being raised in a demon culture she''ll need to work hard to train her chi!" Slamming his fist against the table they were sitting at he stood up and left the room as my mother started to cry. Thankfully Samantha was there to comfort her not being of any help I returned to my body. Stretching my limbs I noticed a lack of motor control and a wet feeling coming from my diaper, I must have emptied my bladder while I was gone¡ With nothing else to do I called out, "Nurse! Nurse! Come wipe my bum! Please this feels weird!" Of course the result was undeveloped vocal cords screaming "Waa! Waa! Waa waa wa waa!" Needless to say it had the desired effect and I was picked up and brought into the kitchen, placing me next to what seemed to be the sink I was wiped with a damp cloth. After cleaning up my mess Sam tied on a new cloth diaper and carried me over to my mother to be fed, of course this time around there was no pain to be felt at all. Finishing my meal I once again drifted off to sleep, like this the months passed; Eat, Sleep, Poop, Eat, Sleep. I probably pooped more than that but it must have been taken care of as I slept thankfully, waking up with a dirty diaper was uncomfortable to say the least. The time came when I was finally able to crawl, Samantha saw me and quickly ran out of the room appearing moments later with my mother and father. Aura tried having me crawl over to her so I decided to give the dog a bone and she picked me up screaming with joy, not to self protect my body before saying my first words. Not that I have no attachment to my family at all it''s just that I want to live to reach an old age not die from over excitement. Things became a blur after that practicing mana and chi control inside my body, well training my stamina as much as possible when awake. Eventually the time came where I was ready to walk with my mana and chi helping my bodies development I could have done this a month or so earlier but decided to wait. On that day with my wobbly first steppes I made sure Aura was in the room when it happened, she screamed with delight for my father to hurry over. After that she kneeled on her dress and called me over to her again, this time around I fell into her embrace and wasn¡¯t lifted into the air just suffocated with a hug. After that I began to spend most of my time running or meditating, running looked just like any kid going around all over the house so as not to be discovered. Meditating on the other hand required a specific position and thus had to be done when other weren''t around, exhale chi impurities inhale more chi and mana. At the same time also circulating both of these energies throughout my body causing it to strengthen, not by much but slowly over one hundred years I would see something from mana alone. After all mages did not have muscle but were able to take out a warrior one level below them without using attack magic. By the time I was two years old I''d already received most of my teeth, having suffered through a year of dental pain I was glad I was over. At this point I''d already pulled the "mama" card and almost been killed by parental love, my father thankfully was more reserved than mother and Samantha. "Sam-sam" was especially pleased considering I said part of her actual name, Aura looked a little upset so I said her name "Awura" I still cannot speak perfectly with my new developing vocal cords. Around four months after my birthday I was allowed to go outside to play, it was my first time going outside in my actual body I couldn¡¯t help but feel some excitement. With Sam watching me I explored all around the yard running as fast as I could, in reality I was exercising since I''ve already explored the entire surrounding area for the last two years.. Two months past by in the blink of an eye and sometime ago I was no longer watched by Sam, Aura, or Magnus.. I assume this meant the yard was relatively safe from all dangers besides myself. With the passing of another two months the weather became drastically hotter than before, a nice fifteen degrees turned into a constant twenty-five only lessened by the wind. At this point I was limited on how long I was allowed to stay out, thinking about it it''s most likely not to get either a sunburn or heatstroke. Around the middle of summer I was outside running around when suddenly I felt two sharp pains in my forehead, feeling the upper corners of my forehead I pricked my finger causing it to bleed. I immediately left my body to lessen the pain I''d feel and examine my forehead only to discover the beginnings of horns growing, to my surprise even though they had previously only been pin pricks two half centimeter high horns had grown. Continuing to grow the pain grew worse and worse, even in my astral from I was almost at the point of passing out. After reaching around one and a half centimeters in height the dark blue horns stopped growing, at that point an even worse pain came from the bottom of my spine. Another sharp dark blue spike had begun to grow right above my pelvic bone, rapidly it grew far faster than the horns at one centimeter in diameter it stopped enlarging. At that point the pain grew far worse and I passed out as it grew one centimeter longer in just under a minute. Waking up it only seems to have been around an hour since I passed out since the sun was still relatively high, the only difference was I was now in my room. Flipping myself over I once again left my body to inspect my lower back, from there was a tail approximately as long as I was tall. Later on the one who came in and explained was my father, well he more or less just transformed revealing his own horns and tail. The next day I was already back to my everyday life unless you count learning how to control my tail. Life passed by peacefully for the next year, my body grew stronger, faster, and more flexible well remaining the same on the surface due to the effects of my chi and magic strengthening. My third birthday passed by as the four seasons changed back into winter, since we live in an equatorial kingdom the temperature is still relatively nice so I''m not hindered from being out in the winter any longer. This time around it was the spring equinox when my life dramatically changed, minding my own business I was merely meditating when four slits of pain appeared on my back. Having experienced something similar before this time I quickly took off my shirt tearing it on my horns and left my body, my back was a horrible site to see. Blood was flowing out from the wounds making them look like the lashes of a whip, looking closely I could see a semi-transparent thin material growing out from them. Slicing open my back as they appeared two large semi-transparent light blue wings grew out from my back, shaped like a butterfly''s wings made of feathers. This time around I woke up before anyone found me having suppressed my screams to fight the pain, picking myself up off the ground this time I knew to go directly to mother. Seeing me she jumped out of her chair and carried me to my room laying me down on the bed, there I once again passed out and woke up the next day to her smiling face. For the ''first'' time Aura informed me about my lineage both fairy and incubus, and how I was born from an unpredictable gene pool even mentioning my lack of chi energy. Forcing chi through my body I asked her to once again see whether or not I was born with chi, the look on her face paled in comparison the my father''s screams of joy. With a happy family I spent the rest of the year once again returning to my training, returning to tail, chi, and mana control well also learning to use my newly formed wings. But shaped like this: http://www.fancyfairy.com/wings/greensmsinglwings.jpg Trying to fly turned out to be incredibly difficult, my wings themselves weren''t strong enough to lift me not to mention my lack of control. For now just working to flap them in unison is difficult, i''m unable to imagine the amount of control i''ll need to actually fly. Again my birthday passed by uneventful they don¡¯t seem to celebrate very much in this world, Sam grew kinder and gentler Magnus grew stronger reaching the level of a Weapon King just nine levels below Emperor. Winter passed by slowing since I caught my first cold, lasting a week mother was gone on business so Sam had to leave to get a healer. When the healer first showed up I was a little confused at first, he quickly diagnosed me with a common cold like it wasn¡¯t obvious. What confused me however was that he poured water on my forehead before placing his hand, informing me he was a water mage I pulled out some herbs and had Sam grind them well he poured magic into more water. In about five minutes the two of them were finished and I was force fed the nastiest medicine in existence, buckley''s can I have you back! Modern medicine I miss you! Spring passed by in relatively the same manner through my meditation I''d finally broken through the third levels barrier as a beginner practitioner, mana had thankfully broken through early winter. In summer I rose yet another level in both magic and chi, this time chi surpassed my magical abilities breaking through about a week before. Exited to soon be able to reach the next hurdle of the sixth level I continuously trained letting the time slip by in those happy childhood months. My next true development happened on my fifth birthday, by this point I''d reached beginner level six in both chi and mana techniques, although only just barely reaching this level. Sitting on a raised child chair in front of my parents each of them was holding a box, my father''s long and thin my mother''s small in general. Samantha was the first to speak, "Happy birthday Azura" after she spoke both of my parents chimed in their two cents looking a little unhappy they came late. Not willing to be outdone with presents my father came forth first, his present was to be expected by his demeanor and physique a highly decorated short rapier perfect for my current size. Giving him a beaming smile I gratefully accepted the weapon, even though I have no idea how to use a sword I''m guessing he plans on teaching me soon. My mother not missing a beat came forward as my father stepped out of her way, with a smile of her own she explained her gift. "This is a water wand, crafted with a branch of the world tree and embedded with sapphires and water elemental crystals." I know gemstones can store or amplify magical energy but I''d never heard of elemental crystals before, containing my curiosity I stopped myself at just waving it around a few times with an uncontrollable smile spread on my face. Seeing this my father looked a little bit down but I wasn¡¯t just going to let him feel bad on my birthday, "Thank you Father, Thank you Mother I look forward to both of you teaching me how to use my gifts." I swear to god I''m the most polite five year old on the planet, sometimes I feel like it''s too much effort to try and keep my parents happy since they want my love so much. After dinner Samantha made my favorites of course, we ate what I''ll call cake although not exactly the same the only major difference was the ingredients. Once desert was over Sam took me to my room bathed me and skipped a night gown over my head, as she pulled the blankets over my small body she sat down beside me. This was a first normally Sam would order me to go straight to sleep, this time however she leaned close gave me a kiss on my forehead and handed me a tiny silver heart shaped key necklace. With that she left and I began to enter my soul right before Sam got out of the room a fire roared into existence above me. "Greetings Master my name is Emily." Almost passing out from the shock of a dragon made of fire appearing over me I was barely able to speak, "Who exactly are you Emily?" "Grandmaster Jade sends her regards, although I''ve only known her for around five minutes." Jade! wait could this be? "Are you by any chance Reliam''s child?" Forming a solid body Emily landed beside me on my bed pressing her nose against my forehead. "Yes master and I''m truly sorry about this" With a questioning look on my face I understood in the next second, screaming from the pain I passed out in less time than it took to register. Waking up the next morning I flew out of my body, I was relatively the same except now on my forehead was a moving tattoo of fire. Looking closely it was only about one square centimeter and quite literally looked like a burning fire, looking around Sam was asleep leaning on the bed beside me. Giving her a gentle nudge I woke her up, looking at me with sleepy eyes Sam slowly began to regain her senses until she finally embraced me in a bear hug. "Oh young miss that god you''ve finally woken up" Slightly puzzled I pulled myself out of her arms and quickly asked before she had another outburst. "Exactly how long did I sleep for?" "Three whole days! Three days and three nights I''ve been here watching over you!" Hearing this my eyes bulged and my stomach gurgled. Hearing my stomach Sam quickly went to fetch me something to eat, "So what exactly happened to me?" losing three days I want to know. "A phoenix chose you! Congratulations miss you''ve now successfully become a phoenix mage!" A phoenix mage? "What exactly is a phoenix mage?" Hearing this it was her turn to be surprised, hey I''m just a five year old girl I don¡¯t even know how to read this worlds language yet! Obliging me with an explanation Sam kept it rather simple, "Phoenix mages are the magical equivalent to a dragon knight, or a gargoyle hunter." Thankfully I know about dragon knights although only what my father''s told me in his stories, "The strongest of magical beasts the smartest, sentient beasts especially require them to choose you." If it''s that big of a deal I can just leave my hair long so as to avoid others finding out about it, I''m also a dragon knight since Reliam is a dragon although his reproductive partner must have been a phoenix making Emily a half breed. ''That¡¯s correct master'' hearing a feminine voice inside my mind I couldn''t help but look around, seeing no one besides Sam I thought to myself it was nothing. ''No master I''m your familiar Emily! Born of Reliam and the phoenix Nova!'' ''Well get out of my head and talk to me in person than!'' Similar to how I force my soul from my body out flew the fiery dragon. "Hello master it''s nice to formally meet you." Looking at her I was quite pleased with my decision with Reliam. "Why are you a half phoenix half dragon?" Since phoenix''s have a far easier time traversing worlds. I guess that does make sense after all summoning is simple but it requires far more magic to send something somewhere you''ve never been. "How did you find me?" "Reliam''s soul bond was partially transferred over to me, the mark on your forehead signifies our proper bond." A look of understanding crossed my face quickly replaced by one of joy, right as Sam came back with my breakfast. Returning inside my body Emily disappeared so as not to cause trouble since she had just incapacitated me for three days. "Sam where''s mother and father?" Having been wake for a good half hour already they''d normally have shown themselves to me by now. "Your father had to leave on business, and your mother left to get a healer to look you over." Left to get a healer didn¡¯t the town have one in it? "What about old man Rodger? Isn''t he a healer?" Probably expecting this Sam just shook her head and gave me a short explanation. "Mr. Rodger is a water magician capable of healing external injuries, not to mention only being at the level of an expert Aura could easily heal you faster." Hearing this I wasn¡¯t surprised my mother was after all far stronger than most people I''d ever heard of, sadly my magic pool wasn¡¯t effected be her genes¡ Slowly the day ended with me being forced to stay in bed, Sam only let me out to bathe me and change the bedding. Over the next week I wasn¡¯t allowed to leave the room until my mother finally came back with a master level light magic healer, upon her inspection I was cleared as healthy and congratulated for my luck. In the evening after dinner I was informed the next day I would begin attending school, although a little late in the semester¡ The path of a Primeval
Any ideas on how to make this chapter better would be appreciated, also for those who dislike op characters the next chapter or two has a twist to help you with that. Chapter 3: The path of a Primeval Thank you for reading my story so far it''s great you''ve chosen to waste 6000 words of your time on my rough shabby work, for having gotten your attention with what I''ve done so far I hope you''ll find and point out ways to polish up what''s been done and turn it into a gem together with me.
Entering my soul well my body rests I was immediately confronted with a shocking change, my chi had now taken the form of a small island with a completely un-proportional mountain in the center. The most surprising thing however was the large log cabin built on the solid ground, flying over I landed on the sandy beach and slowly walked over. Moving aside the curtains in the window hole sitting down at a wooden table was a little girl completely ablaze, seeing her I could only thing ''Emily?'' ''Yes master, it''s good to see you'' Picking my jaw up off the ground I walked over to the front door and entered the building, inside was rather simple just a log building with plain decorations. The only concerning thing about it was what it was made of! Unlike both mana and chi this energy was completely unique, pressing my hands against it I could even feel a pulse like blood flow. Walking into the kitchen like room Emily was the first to speak, "You have so many questions, you should relax a little before you hurt my head from the information intake." "To start with take a seat it seems I''ll be explaining quite a bit, how about starting with your chi?" Now she''d really piqued my interest. "What happened to my chi!" "I reformed it" Such a quick emotionless answer that explains nothing! "Why did you reform it? How exactly could you control my chi?" This time I''ll be a little more persistent for answers. "If I''m going to live here I need a place to stay besides floating in the sky, unlike you my real body is here not just my mind." I''ve got to give it to her this helps a lot, only stopping for a breath she quickly continued. " "Your" chi has yet to been made your own, you''ve simple absorbed it from your new body and brought it into your soul." Didn¡¯t Reliam''s bond give me the chi I currently have? "No master my father did not give you any of his power through the bond you''ve simple absorbed the chi crystal within the new body he sent you to, on that note why have you not absorbed the mana crystal?" Chi crystal? Mana crystal? What exactly is she talking about? "Beings in your world are not usually born with them so it''s understandable you don¡¯t know." "Magical beasts are born with these crystals and absorb their power from birth through their body, other animals can slowly develop them over time" "Humans on the other hand must first dive into their own soul and pull the power into it to be harnessed, humanoids are far more complicated than animals but have far greater benefits." So that finally explains her own question.. "What''s this house?" Giving me a knowing smile like she''d already guessed what I''d ask next Emily slowly began to solidify her female form, making herself look almost exactly like me with red skin. Suppressing my curiosity I stayed silent waiting for more answers to come, giving me a thankful look Emily once again started explaining. "It''s made from my own natural energy master, natural energy takes the form of plants and eventually animals within your soul." Natural energy? No wonder it felt completely different from mana and chi! "Truthfully master I find it shocking you''re only on the path to becoming a saint, with that you won''t even be able to fly without the use of your wings!" Path to becoming a saint? As far as I know Saints are able to walk on water and magma without harm, and angels are able to freely walk on top of the air itself. "Training mana and chi to their peak will only let you become a ninth level saint!" What! I thought one could become immortal with mana alone! Why did master never say any of this! "To become a first level angel you''d have to learn to absorb sufficient natural, spirit, physic, or soul energy mastering all of them would let you become a ninth level lesser god." Only at the level of a lesser god? How on earth would on become an actual God? Through talking for the rest of the night I was finally told what few ever actually learn, the way to become a god is to fuse all six of these pure energies together into one. Then once all six are fully fused one would be a ninth level Sovereign God, once there if one still had the talent and ability to proceed further they could challenge existence itself to become a Primeval. Even most magical beasts wouldn¡¯t know most of this information, thankfully master summoned both a blue dragon and a blue phoenix as Emily''s parents! I''m not going to try to guess as to how she got them to procreate but I won''t complain about it, like in a flames temperature blue and violet are symbols of intense highly concentrated energy. Emily herself trains in soul, natural, and mana on the path to become an angel herself, later on as she grows naturally she''ll begin to understand spirit and physic energy purely due to her own race. The only Primeval to ever exist created the first gods who in turn created the different races, having liked some beings the primeval Void himself granted them greater power. Giving all being the ability to become gods through training he continuously released his own power into the atmosphere creating the different energies, the world already having been altered from the gods powers was impure forcing those who trained to expel these impurities from the primeval pure energy. One race in particular was so liked by the primeval he saved them from extinction and altered their very being making the fifty survivors into a new race, the voidian race itself. With pure blue hair, eyes, and even skin these men and women were extremely powerful, it''s passed down that they can only be harmed by someone more skilled than them at their own weapons or magic. If you had the ability to kill one voidian through weaponry you''d not be able to kill another unless you matched their magic, if one used a sword another would use an axe, the next a scythe. Sadly this was about all she''d known the rest she should''ve learnt from her parents but unfortunately she was separated from them within a week of her birth after receiving some training by Jade. In the end we only stopped talking with each other once the ground started to tremble, I was being woken up to go to school. Leaving my soul I was greeted by my father''s smiling face this would be the third time I''ve seen such a big smile on his face the first was when I showed my chi, the second was my fifth birthday when I looked forward to his training. Looking around the sun had yet to rise, thinking about it my father was away on business the last little while. Holding his finger up to his mouth he helped me out of bed helping me change into clean underwear and a skirt and blouse. The feeling of the fabric is a lot rougher than my usual clothes feeling more like a hide, looking down the clothes appeared to be made out of an animal skin. Not as comfortable as my usual silk clothes I wasn¡¯t one to complain since I really just wanted to complain about the girls clothes to begin with.. After dressing me he quickly grabbed my sword off the desk chair and held my hand with his free one leading me outside, exiting my room we quietly made our way down the stairs and into the yard. Once outside my father finally let out a sigh of relief obviously he was worried about waking up mom and Sam, I was beginning to wonder if they even knew he was home. "Watch me and repeat once I stop, do it once and I''ll give you some pointers than you''ll try again" So he''s going to teach me sword moves? Or are we just going to stand and swing the sword one thousand times? In the end I sat down on the grass letting the drew soak into my semi-waterproof skirt, apparently it was sword moves. Raising his sword he dashed forwards three steps and let lose a powerful slash causing the air itself to become a blade with strength alone, he can''t expect that of me can he? Quickly backing off a step he raised his sword as though to guard against an illusionary opponent, next he counter attacked cleanly slicing where the neck would be judging by how he was blocking. Encouraging me to stand up I slowly walked over to where he''d started earlier well drawing my rapier, the second the sword was out I looked up and saw a hooded man standing beside the trees two meters away. Having drawn his sword his leg muscles tensed up as he prepared to charge me, moving faster than I could even register he appeared before me cleanly slicing my throat. In the next instant he disappeared fading into nothing more than a wisp of smoke, having fallen down I looked over to my father well sitting on the grass. He quickly explained it was an illusion created by his chi in the end he congratulated me for not trying to run the moment I saw my opponent, I quickly asked to try again. From what I observed last time the chi illusion should only be at the first intermediate level although I''m lacking I can still win, although only because the keys to victory were handed over at the beginning. The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident. The only chance I had was a slim window relying purely on how well I can control my own body, drawing my blade the opponent appeared. Rushing in three steps I swung my blade only to have it blocked by my opponent, without stopping to think I moved my sword to the defensive position my father took earlier. Crashing down on my with explosive force I realized the reason my father had stood like this letting him absorb the blow with his entire body channeling most of the force into the ground. Next without pausing I swung my blade at his neck with his stance destroyed he shouldn¡¯t be able to block even with the gap in ability, my father had only fought with about my level of strength the first time around or else he would have taken more than three steps. Surprisingly enough the illusion blocked most likely my father changed it having seen what I''d just done by copying his movements, or he was testing what I''d do if I didn¡¯t succeed. Backing off once again I took up a defensive stance I remember from spying on the soldiers training, this caused a look of surprise to appear on my father''s face but he quickly suppressed it. As I''d been raising my sword the illusion closed in on me forcing me to once again block, this time it was a horizontal slash. Without time to dodge I raised my sword to the side meeting his sword with the flat of my blade, even with one hand on the hilt and another pressing against the top of the blade my sword was pushed back. In the next instant my opponent struck again this time stabbing directly into my stomach causing me to once again fall to the ground defeated. Looking over at my father he had a happy look on his face, walking over he crouched down and wrapped his arms around my in a big hug like my mother usually does. He said even for having not been born with chi my abilities were amazing, generous even no doubt I would be able to surpass my peers in the next hundred years. After that he spent the next few hours teaching me sword moves, each time I would perfectly copy his movements and he would give me pointers on how to do it even better than his ability allowed. After he was done teaching me the beginner and intermediate skills his sword school had to offer he called me a natural, a gifted fighter capable of learning at a single glance. I was more or less someone who practiced precision motor control since a young age with an exceptional memory, having seen my father do it I simple needed to calculate the angle to stand. Have each leg at what angle my feet spaced how far to the side and forwards, the optimal spacing for each step to take for anyone could theoretically do it only it would take longer. By now the sun had begun to rise in the sky greeted by a beautiful sunrise we made our way back inside, opening the door we could immediately smell Sam''s fresh cooking. "Welcome home master, good morning young miss I''m glad you seem to be better" At first she was talking with a smile but at the end she turned towards my father with a glare, no doubt due to him having taken me outside for training. For breakfast today was eggs and bacon my portion and fathers were already prepared well Sam was still making mothers, halfway through my breakfast she came down and gave father a kiss. Looking me over up and down she raised an eyebrow at my father but let it go unsaid, obviously she was a tactful woman and most likely guessed Sam wouldn''t let it go so easily. After I finished I went upstairs with Sam to be undressed from my new clothes and given a quick wash to remove the perspiration from my body, afterwards I was once again dressed this time in a more silky cloth like normal. Walking down stairs in a light blue ankle length skirt and long sleeve shirt I was met with my mother, Sam on the other hand returned to the kitchen to begin making her own breakfast and do the dishes. Leaving the house through the front door for the first time I was greeted with the sight of a stone path leading towards the village, walking into further into the village we arrived at one of the few four bedroom houses in the center of the village. Walking up to the door Aura quickly knocked went through her greetings and began to introduce me, sadly I''m her daughter Azura Grace. Why can''t I be her son Azure Grace? It''d be so much easier if I was a boy, girls in this world don¡¯t even wear pants what''s with this old fashioned way of thinking! Even female warriors still wear skirts all the time, my mother demonstrated flight magic to me once in a skirt. Walking into the classroom I was introduced as being sick the last few weeks, standing in from of the class I did a customary. "Hello my name is Azura Grace it''s nice to meet you all" with that began the rest of the introductions, they knew each other but I didn¡¯t know them. Starting with the teacher there was Mrs. Prima, Selena, Kyle, and Anthony with my attendance we now had an equal number of male to female students. Mrs. Prima had a tall athletic appearance although on the male scale she''d only be a seven she was still beautiful, with her white hair and cheerful smile she gave off a kind feeling. Selena was a little taller than me making me the shortest in the class, her main feature was the one curved horn coming out from the center of her forehead. With her bright green eyes and light brown hair she''d defiantly grow up to be no less of a beauty than Mrs. Prima, of course I sadly can''t get the childhood friend story I could if born as a boy! Kyle''s the tallest and also the oldest by a two months, he was relatively skinny but because of that you could see the dense muscle beneath his skin no doubt also a mage like me. Although Kyle''s demonic features are hidden his ears are pointed and underneath his cloths and hair are multiple demonic markings typical for his ink-demon race. Anthony was muscular defiantly a mesomorph body type, already showing signs of heavy definition he had the same horn as Selena. Without even having to ask just by how they stood next to one another and the similarities other than the horn you could tell Anthony and Selena were siblings. Having come to class late I''d already missed over ten days of class, the semester started on my birthday in the winter months it''s preferable to keep children inside learning. After introduction I was brought over to a black monolith like object, with an open slot and a magic circle beside it. "Azura since you''re the only one who doesn¡¯t have one let''s start off with getting you an affinity card" Affinity card? Elemental affinity? Poping into my head Emily felt the need to explain for me affinities are most commonly elemental, and elemental affinities are the only ones where you can have multiple. An affinity for mana, or chi however you could only have one usually someone would have at least seven affinities. Mana, Fire, Fire, Earth, Earth, Air, Air would be considered extremely lucky giving you the affinity for three fire, three earth, three air, and one of each other element. Chi, Fire, Fire, Earth, Earth, Air, Air would be viewed as the same thing only for physical techniques, mana is an extremely wanted affinity. Earth, Earth, Earth, Air, Air, Air, Fire would be a far more common type of affinity, pressing my hand against the magic circle on the monolith I couldn¡¯t wait for my affinity card. Coming out it read simply Name: Azura Grace, Race: Demonic Fairy, Affinity: ____, Energy, Life, Mana, Air. Looking at this I was questioning the blank attribute well Prima was quite shocked, I''d gotten the Mana and Life attributes. Even through my Air magic only equaled two affinities I''d be able to learn magic of all elements, the blank and Life attributes on the other hand her questioning as well. The rest of the class looked at me with pity, Anthony had a Chi attribute like my Mana attribute however he also had elemental affinities to strengthen it. In my past live my magic was on par with all others, surpassing them with my powerful air techniques. Maybe in my world the mana affinity is common but we have less affinities in return? Looking around my teacher seemed to be waiting for something, feeling around inside my body I felt as though most of my mana had been drained. Losing the ability to stand Anthony ended up being the one who caught me, if we have trust exercises can he be my partner? Trying not to pass out I slowly began to draw in mana from the air, doing this instead of having to wait for my mana to replenish itself I could instead just increase my overall mana slightly. Chapter 4: Unabsorbed Power
A special shout out to Zerlestes for asking for a non-op young character, sad860 for asking me to keep it more original and interesting, and last but not least Oblivion 0117 for a non nerfed character. Just wondering if I''ve been able to keep it decent for you all. Chapter 4: Unabsorbed Power Congratulations for making it through 9000 words of this story, I thank those of you who have chosen to read this far and can only hope you''ll enjoy this latest chapter of mine exploring a little more into the world of Azura Grace
Placed on a bed at the side of the room Mrs. Prima congratulated me on my quick thinking that allowed me to stay awake, even with steadily absorbing mana it took me over an hour to recover. Once I was at the point where I could again function normally Mrs. Prima allowed me to join the class, the rest of the class was silently meditating drawing in chi and mana. Having missed school it was decided I would forgo meditation for today and be taught the basics of mathematics, reading, and writing. After having learnt the number system it simple became a contest of who''s better, in the end I won out and had to tell Prima the answer to my own question ([4x6]^2 x4^3)/6 = (576 x 64)/6 = 36864/6 = 6144 To start with I had to explain to her exponents and the process of B-E-DM-AS, having to explain to my own teacher is understandable considering the only concept of plumbing they have is a drain. Mrs. Prima told me instead of her teaching me math from now on I''d have to teach her, I guess I could throw in some tricks to help kids learn math easier making her a better teacher at the same time. Not wanting to waste to much of my time I simple told her to get enough paper for me to write a book, I can just write out all the lower level math I know with extremely detailed examples write big, use arrows for where numbers end up, etc. After that was the alphabet surprisingly enough Mrs. Prima just asked me to tell it to her rather than teaching me, although it''s flattering I know nothing more than math¡ "Mrs. Prima Mom and Dad never taught me the alphabet, Mommy said my new teacher would show me how to read and write." Oh god please don''t kill me for having said that with those killer puppy dog eyes little kids have! Slightly looking up to watch out for lightning I ruined the look of a pleading little girl but I probably didn¡¯t even need to use it, Mrs. Prima was actually quite happy to have something to actually teach me. The alphabet was english with different symbols I''m actually a bit disappointed having been taught lost languages by jade, ancient egyptian hieroglyphics oh please I could read them in a breeze, latin no sweat Jade had a tendency to not use the same language within ten words. She''d always change it up engligh, latin, spanish, egyptian, greek, anchient chinese dialects, you name it she''d speak it just to confuse me. If she spoke a language I didn¡¯t know she''d teach me the entire thing by only speaking it for the next week, she''d name everything and use basic sentences for me to translate. By the end of it you''d have learnt every word in the language, at least those that could possibly be used to refer to things still existing in modern magical society. After being taught the letters I stumbled my way through reading and have Mrs. Prima correct some of my "mistakes," during these times Emily would pipe in that I shouldn''t bother as it''ll be a hassle in the future. Next up on the schedule was meditation what particularly interested me was mana and chi stone absorption methods, sadly in the middle of her explanation Selena broke her meditation and needed to be taken to the washroom. Soon after they left Emily broke into my thoughts ''Master I don¡¯t think you should start to absorb the crystals just quite yet.'' ''Why not Emily? Wouldn¡¯t it increase my power if I gained control over the chi and mana gifted to this body?'' Why would Emily want to hinder my powers? Didn''t she just tell me I shouldn''t hide my capabilities? ''You should separate both your elemental chi and mana before trying to gain control over more, in the short term it would be better gain a larger energy pool but long term it would be harder to separate and control.'' Better for the long term? I''m just a five year old right now, well protected loved and nurtured why should I think about the short term gains? ''Thank you for telling me Emily, could you show me how to separate them once I begin meditating?'' ''Yes master it would be my honor, but if you''re going to meditate I''d like to take advantage of your life affinity.'' ''My life affinity? What exactly do you mean by that?'' ''Natural energy is life itself master, I explained before that within your soul it will take the form of plants and once pure enough animals.'' ''So you mean the Life affinity is like the Mana and Chi affinities? Why isn''t it called life energy?'' This was great even if I was weaker with magic I could make up for it by learning natural energy techniques! Not giving Emily a chance to answer my earlier questions ''How do I absorb natural energy?'' ''During meditation instead of casting your senses out for mana or chi search for something similar to the cabin I''ve created, be careful not to absorb it from the bodies of others or the surrounding plants.'' So it''s the same as increasing the amount of chi and mana one has you simply meditate and pull the energies into your body, with mana and chi it''s already a subconscious action. Without waiting for Mrs. Prima and Selena to return I immediately began to meditate, searching the surrounding air I could feel the natural energy flowing through my classmates giving them life. Concentrating harder I could feel minute traces of it flowing through the air being naturally absorbed through the skin to sustain us all, slowly I began to draw it towards myself with each breath. Breathing it in together with mana and chi I slowly began to learn how to control it more efficiently, slowly I could begin to concentrate less and less losing myself in endless breathing. Feeling the energy flowing into my soul I slowly began to let it flow throughout my veins, unlike mana and chi the natural energy began to make my skin slightly glow. Strengthening my body similar to the other energies I now produced a small amount of light from my skin ''Master you''ve become a level one beginner, although only because you''ve already been given energy from my own natural crystal.'' Beginner level one! I was now a beginner practitioner in three of the energies, upon mastering them all I''d be a peak level angel! ''Master I''ve only temporarily granted you this power, it''s still my own but since my residence is inside your soul it counts as yours.'' So what she''s saying is I''ve got to get enough life energy myself before she no longer hides inside me. Sensing the two lives approaching I left my meditative position and returned back to my chair, shortly afterwards Mrs. Prima and Selena returned from the bathroom. Returning to her meditation Selena waved at me as she passed by to the location I''d previously been, sitting in the sunlight she seemed to absorb the very light itself. Mrs. Prima sat down beside me and once again began to explain the concept of absorbing crystals, only one method existed by for two different crystals. The crystals produced inside one''s own body would have to be washed over with the souls energy, Mana crystals are present in the brain, Life crystals in the heart, and Chi crystals in the chest. The reason my chi crystal was absorbed was because of all the times I''ve flows in and out of my chest, the mana crystal could easily be brought into my soul with this method rather than over time with the little energy most people can channel through their body to it. Thanking Mrs. Prima I asked if the meditative posture the other kids were using was the old one, she kindly answered my question with a ''yes'' and sent me off to try absorbing energy and accessing my soul. Entering my soul leaving my body to meditate I was greeted by the floating sight of the naked Emily, giving her solidified body some clothes made from my mana I quickly did the same for myself. "What''s wrong master we''re both girls aren''t we why the need for clothing inside one''s own soul?" "I''d prefer to be a gentleman rather than a lady young miss" Leaving it at that I flew down to the island, already I could see grass nothing besides grass¡ Looking over at Emily''s cabin she''d added a flower box and vegetable garden, from what I could hear she''d even created a cow. Walking over with a grin on her face Emily said nothing but I could tell she was mocking me, walking over to the chi beach I finally asked "How do you separate mana and chi?" "Simple pull each essence out of it I suggest you try air first since you have an affinity for it, but not only mana and chi even natural energy will need to be separated later on." Ugh great more work, how is it people ever advance in their training? "Don''t worry master you''re already able to live over seven hundred and fifty years, without factoring the normal lifespan of your race." "So you''re telling me not to worry and just train myself to become an angel?" "No master an angel would not be worthy of being my master, even with my father''s deal if you didn¡¯t have the potential to be a worthwhile master I would have simply killed you both and moved on with my life." "Thanks I guess, at least having you around has made training easier and life less lonely." Truthfully even without her help her companionship as someone who truly knows me will be enough. "I''m glad you think that way master but the only reason I know you is due to having access to your mind, if not for your lack of telepathic control I''d know almost nothing about you besides what I witness day to day." So that means I can control what you hear me think? ''Do you hear ever though I''ve had?! Have you really thought I was too stupid to think a majority of the time?!'' "Looking at it that way you''ve got a point nobody can be that thoughtless" Looking a little less angry Emily took a deep breath before speaking. "Separate your mana" With that she turned and walked away back to her cabin, slamming the door on her way in. Pulling the wind element out from my mana it turned into a murky dark green water, at first only a drop formed but then it became easier the more it came apart. After I''d gathered a handful I forced an impression in my chi and started creating a swampy pool, after gathering enough mana to take a bath I was interrupted by Mrs. Prima. Already it was far past the end of school all the other parents had come collect their children, Aura having taken into account how I''d started school late arranged for Sam to pick me up an hour later. Having blow away all expectation Mrs. Prima left me to meditate when the other students went home, when Sam had arrived they called out to wake me only to realize I''d entered my soul. Meditating well inside of one''s own soul! Most would have to constantly worry about how long one left their body, knowing how to sustain my body with magic and now chi and natural energy I''d not need to worry for at least a week at my current level. Sam being a practitioner of natural energy herself could sense me drawing it in, and Emily adding into it showed me gaining at a substantial rate. By the time I''d woken up Sam had already long ago been shown the high level math I''d demonstrated, both of them view me as exceptional having entered my soul on the first day normally a five year old was expected to take over a month. Only Selena had accomplished this feat one week into her meditation, and only through diligent training from the moment she got home until the moment she went to sleep. Taking me home we arrived after a five minute walk, the second we got through the door my father started to scold Sam no doubt as revenge for this morning and whatever may have happened after. When Aura walked in I immediately ran over to her and grabbed onto and pulled at her skirt, "Mommy guess what, guess what." Picking my up of the ground with a smile she quickly quieted my father and Sam with a single glance in their direction, "What is it sweetheart, everyone wants to hear you''re exiting news." Did you know this story is from Royal Road? Read the official version for free and support the author. "Emily guided me into my soul during meditation!" Hearing this her eyes bulged and Magnus''s jaw dropped as though no longer attached except by his skin, Sam however had a look of understanding like some profound mystery of the universe had finally been solved. Just like that we began to have a party, since it was spur of the moment it was just a celebratory atmosphere well we ate dinner. After dinner Sam went into the kitchen to prepare a special desert and do the dishes afterwards, I on the other hand was forced by my parents to demonstrate. Sitting down I slowly slipped away from reality well feeling their power observing me, slowing my rate of entry I finally arrived in front of Emily about ten times later than usual. "Took ya" It seems she''s still upset with me sadly I''ll have to make amends with her later, for now I''ll return to my parents taking about the same amount of time. "A little slow but with practice she''ll get faster and no longer need her familiars help" Not even speaking to me my mother was directing her attention entirely towards my father. "If you''re sure, I don¡¯t want her grown stunted because she had help though." Aw the big lug is worried about me, well I''ll give his some emotional support. "Daddy Emily says she''ll teach me how to separate my chi, do you know what that means?" Play dumb and make him feel better about Emily after all she had nothing to do with it. Looking at me entirely surprised my dad had no idea what I was talking about, Aura on the other hand had a shocked look telling me she completely understood. "Sweetheart" Coming closer she rested one hand on my shoulder the other on my father''s "When someone reaches the rank of emperor the way they increase their level is by mastering other elements within mana or chi, and then finally separating and purifying these different elemental mana." My father''s look of surprise far outdid my own, although I hadn''t known this at first I''d already heard the way to become a god so it wasn¡¯t too much of a surprise. "My little girl is going to be an emperor!" My father was ecstatic he got up and started running laps around the room, when he approached near me again mother tripped him. "Simply mastering one element of mana you''d reach the beginnings of the emperor rank, mastering, separating, and purifying all the different elemental mana you''d reach the peak of the ninth level." Hearing the earlier explanation it was fairly simple to understand master six elements and reach peak emperor level six, after that you''d have to separate mana itself into the six different elements. Separating the mana you''d reach the peak of the seventh rank but this was an incredible hurdle at the point where you had such enormous mana, at my level it was still fairly simple. Until now I''d always absorbed mana equally never seeing it''s different parts, others with higher affinity for it would only absorb their own element reaching the emperor rank one element at a time making the first six levels simple absorbing enough of the other elements. After separating the mana you''d reach the peak of the eighth level afterwards one would normally be at the people of the ninth level, the ninth level is simple mana control. For magicians it would be moving up from circles to spells to shortened incantations, until finally one could simply gesture to cast their magic at the very peak you''d need nothing more than a thought. Finally something Jade had taught me being an immortal she was one with multiple different energies, teaching me to cast magic with a gesture was easy for her to do. More or less she just put me into life threatening situations where I had to rely on my instincts to live, if my chant was too long or my reaction to slow I''d have been pierced, slashed, hacked, or shot. Each of these wounds was of course inflicted by Jade herself, more than twelve times she''d nearly killed me only holding her power back enough so I couldn¡¯t instantly die. Even stabbing me through the heart once all she had to do was wave her hand and my wounds would almost instantly heal, what that happened I''d usually register the pain after my body was already fully healed. After calming my father down Sam came in carrying cookies and milk, desert was being made but I guess it''s pretty close to my bedtime. Graciously accepting the milk I found my assumptions to be correct, setting the warm milk down on the table in front of me I grabbed one of the freshly baked cookies. Breaking part of it off I dipped it into my milk and heartily enjoyed the treat, it tasted exactly like chocolate chip cookies from my old world. Finishing off a second cookie well sipping at my milk I began to feel sleepy, walking over to Sam I was quickly running out of energy. Without even having to speak Sam scooped me up and we made our way towards my bedroom, stopping by my on-suite washroom Sam stripped me wiped me down forgoing a bath and changed me into my night gown. Being treated like a princess has its benefits, like when you stay up late and you''re body can''t keep up with you anymore. Laying down in bed tonight I was mentally exhausted so I simply laid down and stopped resisting my urge to sleep. Chapter 5: Emily and Pocket Money New year''s eve 1995, a fairly extraordinary night as the clouds covering the skies were alight in celebration, and sitting atop these clouds visible only to the birds flying through the skies is an ordinary mountain peak. Covered with ever changing magical lights flickering as they float around the skies constantly changing, millions of lights dotting the sky creating incredible patterns overtop this island like mountain.. "Congratulations Jade! With this Kean has been officially decided as the Warlock for next century" Dressed in a slimming pinstripe suit a repulsive pig like man stood next to a beauty. Wearing a bright red strapless dress together with an emerald necklace matching with her hair the woman looked towards the man with an expression clearly showing her dislike of the man, "Indeed, only it''s such a shame that he won''t be eligible to fight over the position with you next century Malloy." Revealing a cold smile the man Malloy immediately tried to suppress an intense killing intent from leaking out as he replied "I entirely agree the experience of competing with Kean has truly been a thrilling fight, might I offer you a glass of champagne in congratulations?" Looking Malloy over with her eyes Jade used to dealing with the man over the last few years silently sighed before revealing a stunning smile of her own, "red wine please." "You always drink wine Jade are you sure you wouldn''t like something a little more celebratory?" Still smiling Jade merely slightly shaking her head caused Malloy to turn away as a genuine smile graced his lips for the first time all evening. ... Meanwhile elsewhere two handsome young adult men currently engaged in conversation with an elderly man wearing a black robe unlike the rest of the guests in suits. All of a sudden the larger of the two''s face darkened as he spoke out "Young Master I smell blood, although it''s not exceptionally fresh." The other smaller lanky man turned towards the other "Shane it''s probably just the kitchen, and could you quit calling me young master you''re MY familiar." With an apologetic look on his face the man turned towards the black robed elder, with an apologetic tone he quickly spoke out "My sincere apologies Lord Warlock, thank you for allowing me the honour of speaking with you but I regrettably have to leave to check on the young miss." Watching Shane disembark the old man quickly hid the slight smirk on his face as he turned back to his remaining conversation partner, "You really should listen to the words of a dragon god who''s older than the earth, I still don''t understand what your ancestor did to deserve his loyalty in return but I''d love to find out.. haa. if only." Hearing the words of the old man Shane shook his head shaking away an unpleasant memory as he made his way through the crowd, quickly arriving at his destination. Although he''d gone as a precautionary measure to check on the "young miss" Kean''s wife Jade, Shane had never expected that the smell would actually be related to her. However as he neared the smell of blood became stronger and stronger causing him to increase his pace only to arrive as Jade was finishing her wine. Only a few breaths later and the smell entirely disappeared as she fell to the ground it''s poison taking affect, Malloy standing off to the side still struggling to cover his smile with masked grief as he noticed Shane''s presence. Shane simultaneously picked up another even fainter scent of blood causing him to take notice of Malloy, as their eyes locked Malloy quickly turned away fleeing as an indescribable fear surged up from deep in his heart.. instinctively he could feel the threat of a predator coming for his life. In merely three steps Shane''d already caught up and on the fourth his heart stopped beating, on the fifth his head fell to the floor, and the sixth his body collapsed as his soul began to dissipate only to be greeted by Shane''s foot shattering it into pieces. The surrounding crowd having witnessed the horrific sight of Malloy''s death and the stomping of his corpse and soul remained entirely engrossed in their conversations aside from those currently checking on the fallen Jade. Returning to her side with a small flask in hand Shane perched overtop her prone body releasing the mana within his body only causing him to pull back in fright, "Milord Warlock she''d been poisoned with Demigod essence blood." Hearing this the previously lively room finally quieted down, Demigod essence blood is the life, body, and soul of a Demigod!! Above those of regular immortals a demigod cannot be killed unless this blood is destroyed otherwise no matter how long it takes it''ll eventually absorb enough mana to reform its body! "Young master the young miss also appears to be with child, however I regrettably have to inform you that the child itself seems to be absorbing the majority of the essence blood mistaking it as nutrients." Hearing this the already distraught Kean seamed to fall into a waking coma as he was unable to register anything from then on. The Warlock however seemed to have fallen into a meditative trance incoherently mumbling to himself as he walked towards Jade, Shane sensing him approach quickly lifted Jade up moving towards the old man. Jade in reality having fallen just mere moments ago had her stomach grabbed by the old man as he completed the chant underneath his breath, ignoring everything else in the world he closed his eyes seeming having fallen asleep as he focused his entire concentration on the poison in Jades body. ... Hours later after a majority of the guests had long since left the mountain top heading to their respective homes scattered across the globe Shade together with Kean silently await word from the warlock standing off to the side. Finally having awoken from his work his eyes seemed far older as they looked towards the two young men eagerly awaiting good new and desperately dreading what they know to be reality, "She only has one drop of blood left in her, alas the power of this blood will require constant monitoring on her part." His appearance turning far more solemn then before he continued on while watching Kean and Shane''s expressions lighten as a load was taken off their hearts, she''d live! "Unfortunately without her being able to monitor it constantly she''ll be unable to live a long life, most likely it''ll entirely drain her magic in a few of years.. I''m sorry Kean." Chapter 5: Emily and Pocket Money An entire year passed with my daily routine of waking up before sunrise, sparring against illusion opponents a level above me rather than intermediate. Eating breakfast, bathing, changing, and going to school, coming home for dinner, and meditating before resting for the night inside my soul separating mana. Over the course of the year I''d already reached the first intermediate level for mana, chi sadly was only the peak of the ninth beginner level, and natural energy was even worse only to the point of being beginner level two. Having long since taken back her mana Emily slowly regained her strength from traversing worlds, after all she couldn¡¯t be un-summoned and rather had to find her own way. In school Mrs. Prima had abandoned her original lesson plan and was now using a textbook I''d created, finding out paper rather expensive I helped her to create a chalkboard. The chalk was merely sand bonded together with magic that made it bond to the wall, by placing one end of a device Mrs. Prima had commissioned the sand would be pulled over the wall to it regenerating the makeshift chalk stick. The lessons she now taught had gone from simple addition and subtraction and moved up to multiplication and division, for those who wished they could learn brackets, exponents, and B-E-DM-AS. At home not much changed until Emily suddenly announced ''Master I''ve fully recovered'' In the next moment a blue dragon flew out from my chest, surprised to say the least I quickly gathered the remnants of my dress ''Sorry master.'' Landing on the ground in front of my she slowly began to change shape growing larger well deforming, finally turning into a humanoid shape she stood up a naked woman covered in blue scales. "What''s with the scales?" "Master dislikes being naked, preferring to be a gentleman." She''s got me there so I see no point in arguing, walking into the house from the garden Sam let out a surprised yell. Casually well wiping up the water she''d spilled as we walked in Sam asked "Young miss who exactly is your young friend?" "The blue dragon-phoenix Emily." "B-bl-blue dragon-phoenix! But it was covered in red flames before!!" The look of show evident on her face I pleaded for Emily to stay silent well I explained. "She''d used up a majority of her power and had to recover over this time" Yeah that¡¯s true so it''s not technically lying, just not fully explaining. Seeming to accept my explanation or maybe she just knew I wouldn¡¯t answer if pressed Sam let me slip by, quickly heading upstairs I released my torn dress letting it fall to the ground. Walking over to a dresser I grabbed out a pair of panties and a camisole, handing them over to Emily I left to get us both fresh dresses. For Emily I grabbed a light red sundress and a plain white-blue one for myself, changing into our new clothes we then headed downstairs to be met by Sam and my parents gathered in the kitchen. "It''s nice to finally meet you Emily we''ve heard so much" My mother was the first to speak thankfully welcoming Emily with open arms, my father however wasn¡¯t the same. Sitting with a large frown across his face he began to speak, "Don¡¯t hurt my daughter again." Same remained quiet throughout the entire conversation well my parents got to know Emily well I silently meditated off to the side, the important part of the conversation was that Emily would be going to school with me. "A familiar goes where it''s master goes" to quote my mother, thankfully dad had no objections and Sam had already left to prepare her a bed. Entering my room later that night Sam began to instruct Emily on how to wash and dress me, showing distain clearly across her face I announced "I''m old enough to dress myself!" it ended with that. Entering my bedroom it appears my bed''s enlarged from a double to a princess style king sized, sitting down on the left side I sunk deeply into the mattress. Emily taking the right side of the bed slipped under the covers and silently went to sleep, entering the bed I laid down closed my eyes and entered in my soul. The large ocean of mana I had before was now divided into six different colored impossibly deep lakes surrounded by chi of the same element, the natural energy I''d collected sadly was still only at the point of long grass and flowers. The ocean inside of my soul has been reduced to a large chi island slowly flattening out the mountain in the center, slowly over time the grass itself had begun changing color naturally separating with the other energies. Waking up the next morning I went with Emily to attend her first day of school, at first Mrs. Prima was going to teach her like the five year olds but I informed her she''d attended classes together with me until now. Simply accepting my explanation Mrs. Prima went about starting the younger children off with meditation unlike normal, calling the older children over she led up outside. Today would be battle training! Sparing one versus one using blunt wooden swords, first Mrs. Prima showed us multiple different movements and had us copy until we were deemed satisfactory. Having been training for over a year I''d already reached a decent level of skill and understanding concerning combat with a sword, next up would come the fighting. The first fight was for the boys go figure, in the end Kyle won out be skillfully dodging Anthony''s attacks. Next I was up against Selena, stepping forwards I moved right into her slash raising my sword up to block hers. After pushing her back and disrupting her stance I rushed forwards and raised my sword slashing in an upward diagonal, throwing herself back Selena dodged by a hairs breath. Obviously both of us had received far more training than either of the boys, next Selena chose to increase the distance between us. Pressing forwards I fell into her trick and was blinded as she kicked up the loose dirt, smashing into my face she rushed in as I was temporarily blinded ''coming from the right approximately three feet up two feet to the side of your nose.'' Thanks to Emily''s help I was able to block long enough to wipe the dirt from my eyes, this time around Selena was the one to get dirt in the eyes as I crouched sliding across the ground to pick it up. Only hitting one side of her face I used it to my new advantage pressing her blind side, holding me of with one hand she cleared her face with the other. Pressing my attack I aimed for the moment she moved into a two handed stance, hitting the sword right at the tip I was able to loosen her grip. Already striking again closer towards the hilt Selena suddenly regained her grip, a faint! Moving in for the kill she stepped in swinging finally landing the first blow of our fight. Having seen enough Mrs. Prima moved in to stop our fight announcing it to be Selena''s victory, returning back into the house everyone once again began to meditate. Stopping me just before I''d emerged myself in training I opened my eyes to Mrs. Prima''s smiling face, "Azura don¡¯t feel bad, although you''re not an intermediate fighter like Selena or the others you held on against her with skill alone." "Thank you Mrs. Prima" Sincerely thank you I was starting to feel bad since even I knew the longer the fight went on the worse my situation would have become. Returning to my meditative stance I let time slip away, reaching my senses out around me to help draw in more energy the months quickly passed until winter ended. No longer bound to the classroom I instead spent my days traveling around the perimeter of the town, well doing so I slowly scanned the surrounding areas finding the highest concentration of natural energy. Truthfully Emily was the one who found it her abilities far beyond my own, sadly it''s a little far out of the way into an area I''m not allowed to explore at my age I''m barely allowed outside the town. Quickly passing the months flew by while I was busy training, playing, and sparing with the other children. Even without school being in session all of the children would usually gather together in a clearing joining each other in both training and play. The younger kids did most of the playing but being six year olds my classmates couldn¡¯t resist joining in, sometimes some of the seven and eight year olds would come join us in a game of tag. Although the population was small the reason why is the younger generations leaving to war, earn money, and find partners. Every so often someone would come back to the village and a new house would be built, in my six years here only two new houses have been built but more than twenty young adults left. Recently a stone house had been erected by a couple in their late four hundreds, after many years out exploring the world they decided to settle down in the town. The name on the front of their house was the Bernard Family, along with them they brought their son, his fianc¨¦ and their son about seven or eight years old. With their arrival the town began to change, the walls were repaired and enlarged, houses were newly built out of stone for the residences. If you spot this story on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation. As far as I could tell they''d begun to turn our small little village into the beginnings of a city, thanks to them never a dull day passed since there was always something new happening. At one point they''d even begun to retrain the guards, at most you could call them residents before now. After a few months of training they slowly began to look like real soldiers, the best of them being advanced level practitioners they didn''t give off the feeling of protection guards should. Maybe it''s just my own thoughts since my own family is the exception, besides the Bernard''s my parents were the only members of the village above the advanced tier. Slowly over two years passed and the village expanded into a town with a population of over five hundred demons and beasts, the most exiting edition was the dark elves who took up residence. The walls surrounding the town were now an astonishing ten feet tall four feet wide, walking around the outside four guards would constantly be patrolling. At the tender young age of eight I was now working within the village like the older children, an actual school was build to accommodate the population. Two teachers worked together to supervise the children now, every so often Mrs. Prima would steal me away from my work to help out. Due to the change in curriculum lessons took a far longer time so instead of struggling through mathematics the majority of the time was spent learning social skills and training. In demon society the average person is at the very beginning of the intermediate level, usually one would reach this point by the time they''d turned five. The many beast clans couldn¡¯t boast the same instead their average citizen was only in the beginner tier, already at the fifth intermediate level for chi I was considered above average. Even saying that when compared to Selena I was far out done, I''d been given the advantage of time but even with that she''d easily kept up staying one step ahead. Throwing in my intermediate level magic I could beat Selena without it I''d be done for, the dark elves unlike the demons and beasts specialized in magic. Being my equal or better the dark elf race was supposed to grow into being advanced level mages through mana crystals alone, their innate ability was astounding facing one once I was easily defeated. The natural affinity of dark elves usually includes four or more shadow attributes, in the face of their powerful shadow magic I was no match. Thankfully due to the population increase the town naturally attracted more and more natural energy, just last month I was able to break through to the fourth beginner level. Anthony on the other hand found he had an aptitude for life magic, to fuel his training he''d suck the energy directly from living things mostly plants but every so often he''d get his hands on an animal or two. He''d already passed me reaching the sixth beginner level, even though he''d started later and I had an affinity for it. Emily found herself a comfortable place to train and remained there for months at a time, like a statue she''d sit meditating never moving once. Sadly I couldn¡¯t spend my time meditating instead I was working in town together with the tailor Sarah for six hours a day, Selena worked in the new tavern''s kitchen whereas Anthony and Kyle worked under the blacksmith Mordecai. Sewing clothes wasn¡¯t actually what I did all day, no way would I ever sew buttons onto shirts and the like for hours at a time. Instead we''d use magic, nearly everyone in the world could at least become a first level magician. Casting a simple spell over the materials could cause a sort of menu screen to appear, from there you could design the garment change colors, patterns, and size of the material. Creating my first shirt I was able to make a perfectly form fitting shirt for Magnus, trying again Aura''s was a little more difficult learning to accommodate for her bust. In the end I was finally able to create a perfect blouse for her and Sam, Emily quite enjoyed me learning to make clothing when occasionally out of training she''d spent hours having me create whatever design she could think up at the time. Blacksmithing was generally the same but sadly I wasn¡¯t allowed to learn the skill, Anthony offered to teach me once Kyle quickly piped in that he''d help. Selena just laughed at the two of them well standing beside me, seeing the look change on Anthony''s face she stopped laughing. Turning around we were met with the figure of Mordecai the blacksmith, after an entire month of punishment Anthony and Kyle wouldn¡¯t even look me in the eyes afraid it would start again. When I was nine Mrs. Prima actually came to visit me at home, it was about the chalk board device we created. A merchant had apparently stopped in on her and seen it being used, seeing their value he asked Mrs. Prima if he could sell them. After speaking with her friend who helped create it I was the only variable left, without my permission the item wouldn¡¯t be sold but if it was I''d receive a third of the profits. Accepting the deal I simply asked to meet the merchant myself, Mrs. Prima agreed and it was arranged for me to head down to the school around noon the next day. The next morning I woke up early and headed off into town, meeting up with Sarah I began to clean and organize the materials. Looking over I could see her bright amber eyes staring at me as I worked, no doubt the entire town has heard about the merchant by now. Working through the rest of the day I was able to finish up just before noon, heading off Sarah wished me luck and congratulated me. Entering the school building I could see the younger children being taught by Mr. Ross, Mrs. Prima was most likely in the back kitchen. Entering the kitchen area I could see multiple different setup I''d designed, cooking has become a part of the curriculum since I mentioned when the school was built. On the second floor is eight different bedrooms for the teachers and orphan children, although kids are well cared for and adopted for now things may change if numbers increase in the future. Scanning the rest of the room Mrs. Prima was sitting of to the side with a middle aged man, human and looking to be in his late thirties early forties he turned to give me a large smile. "So here''s the genius herself!" Standing up he met me half way and pulled out a third chair at the table for me to sit down, placing himself back in his seat he pulled out the ''chalk.'' "This truly is a wonderful idea to save on costs, rather than paper one simply needs a blank wall." "Yeah, that''d be the point to it but it''s not what I came here to talk about." "Oh? Well if that¡¯s the case please let me give you my full attention young miss" Skipping over the pointless babble I explained to him the concept of a toilet. If I''m going to live my life as a girl then a toilet is on the top of my list of necessities, thinking about it now I should''ve had them made far earlier when the town was being renovated. After that I began to explain the concept of an oven, barbeque, and most importantly a basic desktop computer. By the end of the day I''d been forced to draw out designs showing how to create the circuits and electricity to run the computer, sadly i only have basic knowledge the best i can do is explain the a simple coil wire generator. Besides explaining that the metal needs to be delicately placed in unobstructed pathways to properly conduct electrons i was at a loss, hopefully with just the concepts they''ll work something out. Chalk after all was just described as a type of easily washed pencil and turned out half decent, over time they may come out with a magical equivalent. The toilet was just said to be a bowl hooked up with a tank of water letting it flush down the preexisting drains, a simple water magic crystal could easily do the trick. For the oven just create it with a fire magic stone or two and the barbeque basically just a grill and fire wood shavings. with this I could at least live comfortably in this world, even if I don¡¯t work I should make enough money off royalties. When the contract was signed I was astonished to read I''d actually be getting fifty percent of what the merchant would pay for each item, Mrs. Prima would take only ten percent leaving forty for the one actually making them. Leaving the school I ran into Selena and walked her home before returning to my own house, when we arrived Anthony came out and overzealously greeted me. Almost entirely blocking him out I said my goodbyes to them both and continued walking down the road, passing the tailors workshop I stopped in to wish Sarah goodnight as well. Returning home I quickly went upstairs to wash myself off and slipped under the covers shortly after, closing my eyes sleep slowly washed over me. Chapter 6: Take Flight Chapter 6: Take flight So more people voted to do an extra chapter, over the past day I''ve come up with some ideas including the last two options. I sadly still don''t want to use to much of what i''ve planned for later so instead I''ll be helping to build it up for next chapter, I hope you''ll all enjoy what I''ve written or give your opinions on how to make it better. Please note the links to images are not mine simply things I''ve found on Google that fit decently well.
Over the next year the town once again underwent major renovation, becoming the first modernized town every home now had both a toilet and sink present within the building. Although it wasn¡¯t much quite literally just a hole to sit on and a large bowl of water behind it, water magic crystals were only able to produce a small amount of water in a short time. Unable to ''flush'' away waste the idea of a toilet was quite easily overlooked, using a tank to store the water just wasn¡¯t thought about since nobody cared.. Nobody but me¡ Nowadays the town''s population had skyrocketed and with it the amount of children increased as well, due to the large amount of new students Mrs. Prima stole me away from Sarah to become a teacher together with her. At first the kids were either withdrawn or pure evil, my first day started with a boy named Nathan. "Big sister!" Appearing next to me I barely had time to register his presence before I felt the pain coming from my head, looking down he was standing with a huge grin on his face both hands holding onto my long hair. Looking over at Prima she gave me an encouraging smile telling me I was all on my own, leaning over I scooped the boy up. "Why hello there, I''m not your sister but if I had a brother I could only wish bed be as adorable as you." Forcing a smile onto my face I cheerfully spewed out flattering words, through compliments and encouragement I was finally able to win over the class by the end of the month. Lessons were fairly easy the children quickly caught up in the math they''d been missing, the hard part came for those who still hadn''t learn from their meditation. Unable to enter their soul three of the eleven kids I was left with were extremely unhappy with me, the others of course had been the ones to listen early on Nathan in particular would be classified as a genius. Raising to the intermediate level with only a few months of training he must be a natural talent, the other children by comparison were sadly lacking. Without a way to teach them to enter within themselves I taught the three the art of astral projection, at first they struggled but after a week they''d grasped the concept. Trying it out the kids once again couldn¡¯t perform, trying not to meet my gaze I could see their eyes growing wetter. On the verge of tears I explained why it could never work, the simple fact of the matter is the requirement of mana. Without having trained their mana control in the slightest they were unable to create an astral body from it, next I had them try the reverse process. Following the feeling of their mana gathering and trying to force their soul from the body they instead forced their souls deeper, with the small aid of their magic they followed the natural path to their souls. After that I seemed to have won over the class, the next few months passed by in a blur of days. Having long ago abandoned actually teaching them anything my days were spent playing and training, the largest task I now had was to simply take them to the washroom. With the passing of winter school came to an end and the fresh spring winds began to blow throughout the town, after four months it''s once again time to stretch my wings. Waking up early in the morning looking over I could see Emily sleeping under the covers, so she''s out of meditation huh? Getting up I quickly pulled out one of the shirts I''d made, to make it easier to use my wings I designed both open back shirts and dresses. Like the rest of my clothes it was made with a light blue cloth extending down my body overlapping my simple skirt, now fully dressed I grabbed my rapier and headed down stairs. Walking into the garden my father was already there practicing with his own sword, when he saw me I could feel the shock clearly shown on his face. Normally for training I''d wear something a little more durable but today I''d worn my everyday clothes, "I may not always be dressed for a fight when it comes Dad." Slightly nodding his head he returned to his practice, having long ago learnt from him how to create my own opponents I began my own training. This time around I imagined a mage opponent, ducking under a simple fireball I rushed forwards. Not giving me the chance to get close they switched over to a more advanced fire magic, ending their short incantation a flash of lightning released. Unable to dodge I formed a protective layer of chi over my body, breaking through my defenses I was stunned well my magic worked to resist the damage and paralyzing effects of the magic. Even if it was an illusion the pain wasn¡¯t left out even slightly, before I could recover I was once again hit. Thankfully this time it was only a fireball and my chi barrier was able to block it, recovering I once again rushed forwards. Seeing this the mage once again began weaving his magic, this time around the level had been elevated instead of chanting he simply gathered and released the magic. Once again I was left unable to defend as a fireball quickly sped towards my face, creating a shield of water in front of my face I was able to dampen the effects. Since my water magic isn''t very powerful the fire still broke through and blinded me, dropping myself lower to the ground I could feel another pass over my head. Sensing the natural energy around me I was able to determine their position without the use of my eyes, rushing in the fight ended with one quick slash to the throat. Dropping to the ground I was left breathless although the fight hadn''t gone on very long I''d pushed myself to the limit of my current physical ability, without my other powers I''d have lost after being hit by the lightning. After resting for a few minutes I once again started my sparing matches, my next opponent was a ranger finally finishing off with a warrior. Each opponent was only one level higher than myself but I''d only been able to win with the use of another energy, even though it was impressive with how I am now I''d easily be killed by a majority of the town. Heading back inside I left my sword just past the door resting against the wall, turning around I quickly headed back into the garden. Next on my agenda was training with my tail, having grown alongside me it was still equal to my own height, with it I could reach out and impale a tree or lift stones. My main use for it was like a grappling hook, reaching up into the tree I easily wrapped around a tree branch and flung myself into the air. Extending my wings I began to glide over the last couple years I''d begun to practice this to improve wing strength, now after all this time I could control them harmoniously to allow myself to glide. Taking off from the ground or actually flying requires a great amount of control, every time I''d make even a slight adjustment it could greatly change my flight path. Curving one wing a little too much would result in a tumbling crash to the ground, being a warrior of the intermediate level I''m able to live through a four or five story fall. Currently I''d never gone higher than a three story building any better would require being able to fly upwards, drifting in a circle I gradually approached to the ground. Closing up my wings I let myself fall to the ground, softly landing in the grass I once again spread my wings. Shining in the early morning sun they slowly began to take shape, once fully extended they began to rhythmically move. Raising myself into the air I was able to hover a feet off the ground, the corner of my lips gradually began to rise as an unknown feeling overcame me. Adjusting my wings together I slowly began to drift backwards, adjusting them again I increased the speed before crashing into a tree. Picking myself up off the ground I once again pulled myself into the air with my wings, hovering I moved forward this time. Gaining speed I started to circle the yard careful not to crash into the gardens walls or any of the trees, gaining more confidence I raised myself higher. Reaching the point where''d been gliding I quickly rose even higher, one I was about fifteen meters above the ground I stopped. Looking around I decided on my new flight path, in an instant I shot forwards heading towards the city walls. Adjusting my course I flew along following the path of the walls increasing my speed as I went, reaching a point where I couldn''t go any faster I started to look around instead. The view was breathtaking early morning dew sparkled all over from the light of the still rising run, looking further into the distance was a heavy fog rolling across the forest devouring the trees. No longer watching where I was going I was no longer over the city itself, although it was still in view I was easily over an hour''s walk away having traveled the distance in seconds. This tale has been unlawfully lifted without the author''s consent. Report any appearances on Amazon. In a slit second I felt something crash against my left wing, no longer able to sustain my flight I crashed to the ground. Landing heavily I laid on the ground moaning in pain, besides being a little battered I thankfully seemed to be fine. Sitting up I felt the blood rushing through my body making me a little dizzy, waiting for it to pass I sat there. Once I felt more comfortable I began to survey the surrounding area, surrounded by bushes and trees my line of sight was less than a meter. Feeling out with my senses I could feel multiple animals in the area although none seem very large and dangerous, standing up I winced in pain. Pulling up my skirt I could see my right ankle looked sprained, placing my hand over it I weaved together light and water mana well circulating chi towards the injury. After casting a healing spell my ankle looked visibly better, once again trying to put some weight on it I was at least able to walk. With a slight limp I slowly made my way through the forest, every time I pushed the leaves out of my way I created a large amount of noise. Moving forwards I ignored my surroundings well walking away from the sun towards the city, taking notice of my presence the surrounding animals either fled or moved to investigate. Seeing a young girl limping her way through the forest many of the surrounding predators began to follow me along my path, having traveled about one hundred meters one of them finally decided to attack. "Aaaah!" Jumping back with freight the beast slowly came out from the bushes in front of me, feeling it''s confidence I felt a sense of dread. Casting out my senses I could feel the others surrounding me, the one who approached was a panther like animal well I could feel snakes and other such things surrounding me. Even with the strength of average citizens being so high walls were still used to protect the village, knowing these animals are probably far stronger than they seem I tried my only chance at escape. Once again spreading my wings I shot into the air in a split second I was already over a meter off the ground, moving in the same instant the beast ran and jumped into the air. Knocking me down mid-flight I quickly tried to shake it off, smashing into the ground I was less than two meters away from the beast. Pushing itself off the ground I was still mostly on the ground well it started confidently walking towards me, frantically I began to weave my strongest magic. Sensing the danger the beast slowed its pace becoming more cautious, unfortunately for it that was the wrong choice to make. Letting out my magic a tornado formed underneath it''s body quickly expanding finally reaching a height of two meters, thrown into the air the panther let out a sound of annoyance. Ignoring it I left it behind as I flew up into the air, this time around it was one of the snakes that stopped my escape. Having seen my earlier attempt some of them prepared so as to not let me escape if they got the chance, blending in with the branches it shot out coiling itself around my small body. Falling to the ground it fully surrounded my body multiple times, squeezing itself tighter I could feel my life slowly coming to an end. Forcing as much energy as I could through my body the snake found it far harder to continue, striking out its teeth piercing into my shoulder I could feel the venom beginning to circulate weakening my resistance. Trying to protect myself from constriction and fighting off the venom proved almost impossible, the best I could do was painfully force my blood to purify before entering my organs. With this method the poison disappeared but my blood literally began to boil causing an indescribable pain, draining my mana and chi at a rapid rate I was slowly left with nothing but natural energy. Densely filled with natural energy my body felt invigorated almost instantly my wounds healed and I felt like my body was growing younger, feeling the surrounding flow of energy I could feel the panther was now free. Having seen the snake gain its victory almost all of the surrounding creatures had left the vicinity, charging towards the snake the panther bit into its neck nearly severing its head from its body. No longer controlling it''s coiling muscles I was now able to break free only to be met by my first enemy, pulling myself from the snakes dead body I could see my assumption was wrong. Looking around the first thing I''d noticed was the body of the panther I''d though had saved me, with it''s fur torn to shreds it was almost unrecognizable. From the looks of the rest of the area other animals had moved to stop whatever began to slaughter them well protecting the snake, only after the other animal had all been killed was I saved. Looking towards the panther I was left with various questions but without feeling any killing intent I felt fairly comfortable around it, having exhausted all my energy physical, mental, and other I collapsed. Waking up an unknown amount of time later I was greeted by new surroundings and a smiling face, checking my surroundings I was in a cave from my position I could see the exit was in front of a lake. Inside the cave was a boy crouching beside a hot bed of embers slow roasting an animal, seeing me awake he had a large grin on his face by had still yet to move. "Glad to see you''re okay, after suffering a nasty wound like that I thought you''d be a goner to the poison." Who is this boy, what happened to the panther from before? Without waiting for a response he continued talking, "My name is Jacob, Jacob Bernard it''s a pleasure to meet such a beautiful young miss." Bernard!? As in the rulers of the town Bernard, I''d heard of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard only appearing in front of others when necessary their children were supposedly holed up training inside their manor. Looking more closely at him he was more defined than even my father and was carrying himself as though he knew his own strength was better than others, standing with a straight back head slightly looking up so his eyes could look down. Even though he''s only twelve he''s supposed to already be a seventh level advanced combatant, truthfully his grown was something I''m incredibly jealous of. "What happened to the panther that saved me, you didn¡¯t kill it for supper did you?" No longer directing my gaze at him I looked towards the roasting meat, seeing this he held back laughter as he explained. "Our supper is the savage animal that attacked you, I''d never want to slow roast and eat myself after all." Hearing this my jaw dropped and I simply sat there staring at him, shape shifting? I''d never heard of something even remotely close to that! The entire Bernard family were all shape shifters including his fianc¨¦, the way they gain new forms in be killing and eating the beast. Not having a form fast enough to deal with all the animals surrounding me he tore through the panthers flesh, transforming into it he easily slaughtered the snakes well I was being crushed. Over the rest of the night we shared a meal of panther meat well we talked, finally as the sun began to set I''d recovered enough to head back to the city. Having been staying in the cave for the last few months Jacob offered to escort me home before heading off to sleep, hearing this I turned him down spreading my wings I shot into the air and flew into town. Gently coming to a stop in front of my house I walked inside, seeing my battered appearance Sam was shocked. Noticing her expression I looked down only to finally notice the state of my attire, having been shredded by the tigers claws I''d gained four new tears in my shirt starting at the middle of my chest. My skirt of the other hand was fully intact but covered in dirt and blood, seeing the blood I couldn¡¯t help but look over to my shoulder and see blood had also seeped into the top of my shirt. Looking underneath the wound had already almost entirely healed, giving me no chance to explain Sam took me upstairs and forcibly stripped me down. Inspecting every inch of my body for injury Sam let out a sigh, washing my body like old times she left me to dry off well retrieving my night gown. After sending me off to bed Sam left to inform my parents I''d finally returned, having disappeared from the garden early in the morning they''d become quite worried around supper time. Still tired from my exhausting day I climbed into bed and fell fast asleep, waking the next morning I was greeted by the three of them sitting down at the kitchen table. Long story short after an hour or two of lectures and explanations mom had a slight smile on her face for my achievement of flight, although it was almost fully covered over her worry for my life. Dad on the other hand shared the same opinion as Sam that I should refrain from flying for now, by the end of it I was forbidden from flight and reminded the forest was forbidden in the first place. From now on Sam or Magnus would always be supervising my morning training and Aura would accompany me into town should I decide to go shopping, with the money from birthdays I''d saved up quite a bit only spending it on materials. Starting today I could feel the large freedom I''d once had begin to shrink becoming ever smaller, I was after all only a nine year old so it''s understandable after what''s happened¡ Merame you''re just flying through my chapters, I''m glad you like them thank you for reading. :) Chapter 7: My Tenth Birthday Chapter 7: My Tenth Birthday So yesterday i used an old thread to post chapter 6 I hope most of you haven''t skipped it due to this, I failed a little in the first part of this chapter so if anyone could give me an idea or two to make it better it''d be appreciated. Thanks for reading I hope you''ll enjoy chapter seven.
During the last month of fall my parents rarely allowed me to leave the house, having overcome the punishment I''d previously received I was a bit shocked by this development.f At home I would still follow the same basic routine of waking up before dawn and sparring in the garden, afterwards I would eat breakfast accompanied by Sam. After that however I was now forced to take classes of etiquette from Sam, how to walk and talk what fork to use wasn¡¯t included thankfully there''s still only one fork, spoon, and knife. The worst part was how to be "lady-like" standing, sitting, walking, running all of it would be done with a straight back and proper form. High heels sadly do exist in this world and we spent the majority of a week just having me walk in them, not once was I allowed to sit down. For over ten hours a day I''d wear my new shoes and walk around balancing books on my head, after I was deemed sufficiently competent by Sam the true horror began. Wearing flat shoes Sam taught me to dance, sadly she was the only one wearing flats. Right foot back, left foot back, right foot forwards, left foot match each step was simple at first but, gradually increasing in speed it became difficult to keep up. Only half a month into this and I was already starting to break, how on earth can people wear these things!? Starting the third week I was blindsided by a new dance, this time around the steps were numerous times harder. Without being told the steps I was forced to react to Sam''s movements alone, at this point she was moving rather slowly compared to the day before so it wasn¡¯t too hard. After the first couple of minutes she started moving faster with every repetition, suddenly in the middle of it she switched her movements. As though dodging by a hairs breath I kept her from connecting with my leg, if she withdrew from within my space I quickly followed her back. Finally after about ten minutes I was forced to give in, stepping backwards when I should set forwards we pulled away from one another. Falling down I was heavily panting trying to catch my breath I laid down from my now sitting position, looking up Sam came over and stood above me. "Not bad but you weren¡¯t supposed to step back in multiple places, instead you should have simply lifted the front of your foot resting on your heel." Again and again we practiced with her teaching me to respond to another''s movements, by the end of the month I could probably fight in heels not that I''d exactly want to. On the day of my tenth birthday Sam came in before I''d even woken up to start the bath, going through my morning training I spent most of the day in the garden. Before I''d even gotten to finish what I''d planned for my day Sam came and dragged me from the yard, throwing my into the bath she washed me and pulled out a new dress for me to put on. The dress was a layered the bottom was plain and strapless extending all the way to my ankles, the top layer of the dress was finely designed thin lace. (I figured something like this would look fairly nice on a ten year old [but longer] when older she''ll get a more bold and daring style) Although magic could simplify the process such an item would still take an enormous amount of time compared to other garments, after putting it on Sam sat me down and for the first time made up my hair. After brushing for about ten minutes she put down her hairbrush and began to braid my hair, equally working on each side she''d have me hold the other. When she''d finished the braids flowed over the sides of my head connecting in the back and turning down following the rest of my hair, shortly after finishing Sam left and my mother came in. Dressed in a long black dress it flowed over the curves of her body showing off her feminine charm, looking at my petite mother I realized what first caught my father''s attention. Although she looks sexy and beautiful I sadly feel no attraction towards her seeing as she is my mother, Sam on the other hand was a different story.. Heading downstairs the two of us were met by my father, dressed in a suit he looked rather handsome had it not been for the fact that he isn''t a bowtie person.. "Why now don¡¯t you look handsome." Pulling at my father''s jacket she slipped her hands around his tie and in one quick motion slipped it off his neck, holding the now untied bowtie she walked towards the door before handing it to Sam. "Good choice Madam." "Thank you Mother" With both of our comments my father stopped himself from whatever it seemed like he wanted to say, waving my hand he came towards me. "You look much better now Daddy," Saying that I undid the top button of his shirt once again improving his overall appearance. Leaving the house we walked through the city heading towards the largest house in the city, Bernard manor although at this point it looks more like a castle having been expanded yearly since their arrival. Walking into the building we were stopped by guards at the gate, "Halt, Please state your names and reason for entering." Looking towards Mom Dad seemed to be out of his element, "Elementalist Aura Grace, husband Magnus Grace, and our daughter the birthday girl Azura Grace here to see Mr. Bernard." The second the word elementalist came out of her mouth the guards expression and demeanor changed, for normal people even if the average citizen is intermediate or advanced in the face of an empress they stand no chance. Even an expert, master, or king would pale at the thought of offending an empress, depending on her level even another empress wouldn¡¯t willingly offend her. Rushing inside the building the guard returned shortly after with two men close behind, further back I could make out another figure trying not to be noticed. "Welcome to Bernard manor, my apologies for the guards manners." "Thank you but it''s no problem really, after all you''ve been kind enough to provide a suitable location for our daughters coming of age." Entering into the building we passed by the persons hiding place without the adults noticing his presence, watching behind me I could see them still following. Jumping from shadow to shadow the figure was able to maintain a set distance between us, becoming slightly irritated I stepped off to the side. Using magic I pulled the shadow''s themselves up from the floor and wrapped them around myself like a cloak, so long as I stand in the dark I''d be completely invisible even well moving. Once they''d passed by me I quickly reached out grabbing their shoulder, surprised they turned around tripping over their own feet they landed right on top of me. Laying trapped on the ground I could finally get a good look at the pursuer, "Jaco~!?" Covering my mouth he cut me off before whispering next to my ear "Shhh, please stay quiet I''m supposed to be studying for another half hour." "Then let me up before they notice I''m missing and come find you." Finally noticing our situation he blushed then quickly pushed himself off the ground, extending his hand to help me up. Taking his hand I looked down examining my dress for damage, besides getting a little dirty and a tear at the bottom it seemed fine. Lifting up the damaged area I began to use ''tailoring'' to fix the dress when Magnus came and found us, giving the same explanation Jacob begged my father not to let anyone know. Seeing me fixing my dress he raised an eyebrow but remained quiet, sending Jacob off he waited for me to fix the damage and we headed back to mother and Mr. Bernard. Arriving at the end of the hall we entered a large ballroom set up with tables spaced evenly around the room, multiple chandeliers hung from the ceiling carrying hundreds of candles. Sitting down around a table by the door Aura and Magnus conversed with Mr. Bernard, roughly ten minutes later Mrs. Bernard joined us at the table. Looking at them together they were a matching pair, wearing a light green dress with short brown hair and eye to match Mrs. Bernard sat beside Mr. Bernard. Mr. Bernard was wearing a black suit with green accents but like my father he had a distinct lack of tie, with brown hair and green eyes he went perfectly with his wife. Together with Mrs. Bernard was her youngest son also dressed up for the occasion, as a familiar face I couldn¡¯t help but slightly smile it was Nathan! Ignoring his mother he ran over and pulled out the chair next to my own, "Big sister Azura!" Seeing this Mrs. Bernard smiled. "So this is the bid sister you''ve been raving on about for the last year" Hearing this Nathan calmed down trying to his blushing face, he reminds me of a younger Anthony. The next person to arrive was another Bernard, Jacob walked in having changed since the last time I saw him. Now dressed like his father and brother he looked somewhat handsome whereas before he''d just looked mischievous, seeing Nathan his eyes slightly narrowed before returning to their natural position. Stolen novel; please report. "Milady may I have this seat?" Slowly dragging my eye over his body I looked him up and down from head to toe and back again, curling the corner of my mouth I nodded. "Don''t you have a fiance Mr. Bernard? Are you sure she''d be okay with you being so friendly with another girl?" This time my smile turned into a full out grin before I noticed his somber face. "Amelia died last year it happened shortly before I met you actually, we were hunting creatures together in the forest when she suddenly fell behind." "By the time I''d noticed and turned around her body had already reverted to her original form, the claw marks told me quite clearly she was dead." Looking up at him I couldn¡¯t really control my voice but I somehow managed to squeak out a few words, "I''m sorry" Changing to a large grin I finally noticed the atmosphere at the rest of the table was lively as ever, looking at everyone I could see they all but ignored the fact that she''d died. "No I''m sorry for tricking you like that, I never thought you''d be such a girl considering how we met." Letting out a hearty laugh he pulled out the chair and sat down beside me, now surrounded by the Bernard boys I started to feel slightly trapped. Giving my mother a pleading look she just smiled back at me, father on the other hand looked as though he wanted to kill the two but that would be rude as he was just a guest. Finally reaching a population of five thousand the city had been renamed Bernard city, all military affairs had already been paid for and managed by the Bernard''s for years so in essence they''d already ruled the city. Even my father wouldn¡¯t readily fight against an army of men and woman just because two boys like his daughter, mother on the other hand could easily wipe out an army if she really cared to. Thankfully I was freed shortly after Jacob arrived came a flood of people, any noble in the area with a son or daughter within two years of my own had appeared. Knowing none of these people I made sure to memorize their names and face while greeting them for later on, everyone here was most likely trying to gain my mother''s favor rather than caring about me. Most likely the gathering of people my mother could bring together was the reason why our hosts had opened their home for my party, looking over at Jacob there could be another reason. Evidence of that was how they''d not once talked to me but always focused on my mother, even my father was almost completely ignored. After an hour of greetings I was freed to associate myself with the children, the first to approach was Jacob asking for my first dance. I readily declined making my way across the room towards Selena who''d also been invited as my friend, "Excuse me may I have this dance?" During the last day of dance lessons I''d asked Sam to let me try the male role instead, after some difficulty she finally agreed. A look of surprise quickly changed into a smile as she offered me her hand, "Yes, yes you may." Taking her hand in mine I placed my other hand on her waist, looking her straight in the eyes caused her to slightly blush well we started to dance. Moving quickly I gave her little time to react to my movements; left foot forwards, right foot together, right foot back, left foot together, left foot side, right foot together, right foot back, etc Moving faster and faster our ''dance'' turned into a battle of concentration, easily avoiding the other dancers at first slowly the number started to decline. Soon even the adults came to notice the two of us and stopped dancing, within two minutes of us dancing the floor had cleared. Taking my last step I heard a snap as my heel broke causing me to fall pushing Selena down with me, landing on top of her I couldn¡¯t help but start laughing shortly she joined me. Laying beside each other laughing on the ground we slowly started to notice our surroundings, the surrounding crowd having seen what happened were also laughing with us. From that point on the attention in the room shifted towards the two of us, like his son Mr. Bernard was the first to approach. "Excuse me Azura but may I ask, are the two of you at the advanced level?" Exchanging a glance with Selena we both slightly smiled, this time I let her answer. "I''m only at the second level of the advanced tier, Azura on the other hand seems to have only reached the first level." Nodding my head I confirmed her assumptions, Selena had after all always been slightly stronger than me. Offering his hand Mr. Bernard helped Selena up off the ground whereas Jacob materialized beside him to offer me his hand, once again accepting his help up I laughed. "This seems to be becoming a habit." Raising his eyebrow at the comment Mr. Bernard kept quiet and headed back towards the crowd of nobles, Jacob on the other hand hung around to once again ask for a dance I accepted on one condition. "What''s your condition?" "You have to get me new shoes, I can''t exactly dance with a broken heel now can I?" He let out a small laugh telling me he was relieved I hadn''t asked the impossible of him, I guess being twelve he''s had two years of this life and already been turned down by a girl or two. After replacing my shoe I spent the night switching between dance partners, after Jacob came; Lucas, Ethan, Jayden, and Logan. Each of them had parents with equal or more influence and power as Mr. Bernard, Jayden especially due to my parentage he and his father had traveled nearly a month from their kingdom to try and win favor with the empress Aura and her daughter. Logan was the son of a high priest of the primeval church, although they''re the primeval church they still don''t know the methods to become a god just that a primeval exists not even knowing his name. The only one who was closer to my level was Ethan, since he''s the son of a dragon knight his family gained prestige. Lucas and Logan were brothers and grandsons of a magical academy''s founder and headmaster, both of them were proficient in magic like their grandfather. Had Selena not been here I would have been lost in a sea of nobility, thankfully nobody was able to complain that she was my dance partner for every second dance. After our initial performance they knew Selena''s ability and since she''s a girl they didn¡¯t feel threatened at all, using their influence the boys held all others at bay not even giving them the chance to ask for a dance. After hours of dancing the number of people slowly began to trickle down and I announced I was done, heading towards a table spread out with food I quickly filled a plate with anything that looked tasty. Walking towards an empty table with my desert covered plate I was joined by Selena, "Oh those look yummy, mind if I try?" "I think I should have enough for both of us" Sharing a smile we sat down, shortly after Jacob once again appeared asking for the seat next to me only to find Ethan already there. Looking around the table he could see Jayden, Lucas, and Logan who''d all been declined the spot, Jayden settled for beside Selena whereas Lucas and Logan fought over who''d be next to Ethan and who next to Jayden. Arriving late to the party Jacob''s face slightly turned a pink color before he sat down on the opposite side of the table, enjoying a cupcake I listened to their conversation. Mostly talking politics Selena and me found ourselves outside of our element so we kept quiet, after listening it seems Oakheart isn''t within any kingdom and thus had no king and was classified as a pioneer village. Jayden announced how his father wished to take over the area resulting in Jacob smashing his hands against the table, "My father and I won''t let you take over the territory we''ve been working toward!" Hearing this Jayden was slack jawed, however Jacob on the other side of the table was using both hands to cover his mouth. Having said something he shouldn''t have Jacob quickly found an excuse to leave having to ''put my little brother to bed.'' Jayden fixing his expression became a mask of indifference as he excused himself needing to check in with his father, wishing Selena and me goodnight he walked off to find the King. With the atmosphere as it was Lucas and Logan left to find their father as well leaving us alone with Ethan, looking delighted at the development Ethan wasn''t really following the political debate either. Finishing off my cupcake I stood up excusing myself to Ethan, "I''m sorry it''s been lovely meeting you, but I should probably check in with my parents as well." Leaving together with me Selena gave no reason for leaving simply matching my pace as I walked away, returning to my parents we left the building and stopped only once to drop Selena off at her home. Reaching our house I immediately climbed up the stairs and headed directly towards my room, closing the door I stripped off the dress threw on a night gown and crawled into bed.
I find that the end of my chapters always happen to be either going to sleep or having passed out, hopefully this is okay with most people but I''ll hopefully find another way to end off soon.. Chapter 8: A period of development Chapter 8: A period of development Sorry I took so long to make this chapter I finally had it hit me and started writing it out I''ve been nursing multiple ideas for a few days and can only hope you''ll all like what you read, once again thank you for reading and enjoy chapter eight!
Waking up late the next day all I had time for was to simply pull on my clothes and head downstairs, normally I''d be greeted by my father and Sam but today they were nowhere to be seen. Foregoing breakfast for the first time since reincarnation I rushed out the door on my way to school. Although it was still fairly early the town was full of activity, all the workers who''d been expanding the town stopped their current projects and began starting new ones. Looking out there was at least a hundred people prepping the soil for roads and houses, further out with my vision I could barely see another five hundred or so working about an hour''s walk away from the city. (The city is mostly built on a hill, being near the city center she''d have an excellent view) Rushing through the city streets however was a large number of mounted soldiers on their way out of the town. Arriving late Mrs. Prima had combined our two classes "Azura since you came right as we started how about we spend today together" "That sounds lovely Mrs. Prima thank you so much for your consideration" Truly I was thankful she wasn¡¯t upset at me being late even if just a little. Responding with a coy smile Mrs. Prima shocked me "There''s no need for thanks I was at the party last night as well even if we didn¡¯t get to speak I can understand the difficulty of being surrounded by so many boys." Hearing that the girls in the class started to giggle, even if they''re only five or six they unfortunately understand relationships even though its only at the point of ''like.'' Though out the day since there''s so many students we decided to forgo classes and meditation in favor of heading outside, around the school is a large grassy area I''d recommended. In the future I should work together with the builders to create a basic playground for the town, pushing the thought aside I participated in a game of freeze tag. Limiting myself to a speed equal to Nathan''s I was still almost never tagged, at first they tried but quickly turned their attention to Mrs. Prima. Having lowered her own speed around two thirds of the class would be able to easily catch her, the others would need to put in more effort but it wasn¡¯t impossible. Following her example I matched her about five minutes into the game, running under the arms of one after another I quickly got picked out and tagged. Standing with my arms out the game came to an end within the next couple minutes, most of the kids found it more fun to avoid being caught than saving others. The next time around Nathan volunteered to be it, being the fastest in the class he immediately rushed towards Mrs. Prima. Caught by his surprise attack she was caught quite easily, only thirty seconds in and one of his only threats was taken care of. Next he turned towards me.. Rushing towards me at top speed the other kids would have no chance to block him, having prepared myself I was already going much faster than before. Maintaining the distance between us I slowly turned us around before making a b-line to Mrs. Prima, running under her arm Nathan was in hot pursuit. Seeing him coming Mrs. Prima matched my own speed and headed off into the other direction, seeing he''d no chance Nathan turned his sights on his classmates. Watching their attempts to dodge Nathans merciless attacks as teachers we shared the same opinion, spreading out the two of us freed students as fast as he froze them. By freeing the class time and time again Nathan soon found it harder to catch each one of them, although he was slightly worn out the others had also become more aware of his abilities. Dodging his hands by a hairs breath they''d slip past him and take advantage of his change in direction, slowing himself to turn the others would be able to break away for a few more seconds. Finally after another ten minutes of this I let myself be tagged, right before he ran after Mrs. Prima I whispered "Good job Nathan that was wonderful." Catching Mrs. Prima shortly afterwards the game came to an end, playing other games throughout the day time passed by quite quickly with everyone enjoying themselves. With the parents coming to pick up their children our school day came to an end, saying my goodbyes to Mrs. Prima I headed home. Walking in through the front door the first thing to greet me was a golden glow, light reflected off a large pile of open gold sacks, chests, and jewelry boxes. From just a glance I could tell each gem and accessory was incredibly expensive, surrounded by a large amount of gold coins that much was apparent. Walking past the pile I entered the kitchen, with a late lunch prepared my parents and Sam were already eating. Sitting down at the table Sam passed me a plate of my own, "What''s with the pile of gold in the front room?" The first to speak up was Sam "They''re your birthday gifts miss." Birthday gifts? I don''t remember receiving any from the guests last night. Seeing the questions written upon my face Aura spoke next "During a birthday party like last night''s gifts are received and stored by servants at the entrance." With that said all of my questions were answered and we moved on to talking about our days, like any normal family. Mother had spent her entire day holed up in her research lab whereas my father had been dealing with affairs in the city, unknown to most the town would soon be going through a massive expansion. Until now Mr. Bernard had been slowly expanding so that the rulers of neighboring countries would sit back and watch his do the hard work, once the town was worth occupying they''d march in and take over. Secretly the Bernard army was about twenty thousand troops stationed in camps scattered throughout the unclaimed province, the horseback soldiers this morning were being sent out to mobilize them. With Jacob having slipped last night there would no longer be any reason to hide, no it was rather that they''d been given no choice but to prepare for an imminent attack. As a prominent member of the town my father had actually been employed as a trainer and commander by Mr. Bernard himself, mostly they''d been trying to win over my mother so as not to worry over attacks. With an elementalist on their side no one would dare to attack, instead they''d immediately begin seizing territories near their borders. Of course that could only happen if Mr. Bernard didn''t declare the formation of a kingdom and first claim the land for himself, were that to happen war would begin rather than a sneak attack. With a battlefield arranged the two armies would fight until one achieved victory, without the use of master, king, and emperor tier combatants. Like this my father was confident Mr. Bernard could win with the troops he''d trained, unable to join in the fight he''d still be a valued commander and able to kill any who attack him personally. Looking over to my mother she seemed neutral in the affairs of the city, no doubt she''d already turned down their request or a kingdom would already have been formed. Changing back to my father I started to wonder why he''d be so willing to help when mother was not, of course the reason could simply be a form of hobby. All he does is train or train others, I could see him participating in his disciples training at the same time. Finishing our meal we headed to the living room and my pile of gifts, crouching down my mother gave me a quick hug and grabbed my shoulders. "This time I''ll be the one to give you the first gift." Reaching over to the side she picked up a blue purse with two strips of fabric coming together and tied into a bow. Accepting the gift it was slightly too big for me but I''d no doubt grow into it within the next year or two, "This is a void purse, anything you put into it will never fill it so long as you''d normally be able to fit it in." An interspatial storage bag huh? Not exactly an uncommon idea but defiantly unexpected, maybe a magical storage card for money but a bag? None the less I gratefully accepted the bag, taking it from me Sam immediately began to place the gold coins within it. Releasing me the next up was my dad, lowering himself to my height by kneeling he had a slight smile on his face. "Now I don¡¯t want to either out do your mother or be out done by her so I hope you''ll like both gifts equally alright?" Nodding me head he pulled out the gift from behind his back, pulling out a small box it looked like he was proposing to me since he was down on his knee. Opening the box inside was a silver ring with a sapphire butterfly as its only decoration, "This is a teleportation ring, only able to be used once it needs time to recharge so only use it in a dangerous situation okay?" Unauthorized usage: this tale is on Amazon without the author''s consent. Report any sightings. Placing it on my right hands ring finger I held out my hand to examine it, at first it was too large for my finger but quickly shrunk down to match me perfectly. Looking at Sam and the purse I wonder if it''ll be the same, with both of my parents walking behind me I approached the pile now void of coins. Apparently I''d been given six different jewelry boxes each stuffed full or necklaces and rings, at first glance they looked expensive but compared to my parents magical gifts they were cheap trinkets. The one this that caught my eye was a silver circlet, feeling the aura of the item I could tell it had some kind of special effect. Shaped simply the only real decoration are small silver leaves that point out from it at the front, looking at the tag it was a gift from prince Jayden and his father the king the card read that it had the effect of lessening the cost of magic and chi techniques. Placing it on my head it wouldn¡¯t shrink down, looking to my parents I handed them the card, reading it my mom understood. "Bond it with your soul sweetheart, the void purse works in the same manner anyone can place items inside but only one person can remove them."Nodding my head I turned my attention back to the gifts. Simply flowing part of my soul over the circlet caused it to shrink now perfectly fitting onto my head, similarly the purse shrank down to match my own proportions. Leaving me to sift through the rest of the gifts my parents retreated upstairs to their room, Sam staying with me explained each of the accessories I''d picked up simple things like what gem and metals were used. One by one the jewelry boxes were organized and stored within my new purse, thankfully they were relatively small. Sifting through the rest of the gifts the pile slowly began to disappear into my purse, having finished I said my goodbyes to Sam and headed out into the garden to meditate. By the time school had finished for the year the city''s population had skyrocketed, besides the twenty thousand new soldiers. With ten thousand new construction workers having been brought in a new city wall was quickly being erected, this time around it had three meter thick outer walls and living space built into it afterwards. Although it was simply rooms with beds the soldiers slowly made their way out of their makeshift camps and into new beds, by the end of its construction the currently four meter high wall would reach a total height of ten meters. Even though only about half of it had currently been built by the end of construction it would take over two hours to walk it''s diameter. Besides the walls themselves four large gated were being created by the blacksmiths, as well as the four roads leading to them. Lining these four main roads merchants quickly bought the properties around them and the future market squares, even dark merchants had taken an interest into the town. With their own work crews they began to build inns and shops, the inns were mostly built to be sold off after the construction boom ended. Every day when I''d wake up the town would always be different compared to the day before, never once was there a break in the city. When it became too dark to work light or fire magicians were hired to supply a large light source, far enough away from the current city nobody was bothered by the continuous construction. Waking up one morning my chest felt weird, feeling around under my camisole I could feel it coming from around my nipples. With just the feeling of mild swelling I ignored it focusing on my daily training, getting dressed I grabbed a towel and headed out back. Recently I''d begun sweating more than normal during my training, by the end of it I''d always be drenched in my own sweat. Shortly after turning eleven within a couple of months I started to develop pubic hair, no doubt about it with the feeling of swelling in my chest I''d already developed small breasts I was turning into a woman. Nathan surprisingly enough was the first to notice my recent development, I guess the kid looks at me a little more than I thought. Though the way he pointed it out was embarrassing, coming over to me he simply poked my small breast with his finger stimulating a weird feeling in my chest. "Big sister had boobs!" Yelling it at the top of his lungs even Mrs. Prima came over from next door to ask about the commotion, refusing to answer the girls in my class decided to explain in a similar manner to Nathan. Letting out an "Ah, I see" Mrs. Prima left with a smile on her face knowing the kids were alright, I however wanted to crawl into a hole and stay there for the next week until school was over for the year. With the soldiers and construction workers both creating the city walls they were mostly completed already even though it''d only been just over a year with thirty thousand people working around the clock construction flew by. With only the finishing touches left on the wall the majority of the workers had been repurposed for housing projects, even I''d looked into the cost to buy a property and hire a crew. With all of my money just sitting around in my purse I''d of course looked into any possible worthwhile investments, I could easily buy prime location from Mr. Bernard for a cheap price so most of the gold would need to be spent of labor. In the end I decided against it for now at least maybe later once I require my own place to live, instead I decided to spend some of my money on the school. Mordecai was kept busy forging weapons and the portcullis for one of the gates, Anthony was busy dealing with the tasks from a majority of the citizens but Kyle was more than willing to help me out. Creating metal bars we spent a large amount of our free time putting together a basic playground, monkey bars, slides, swings, and teeter-totters. After it was finished all that was left was to carry the pieces and put them together on site, sadly my purse wouldn¡¯t work so we had to carry them ourselves. Seeing us carrying such large pieces of metal some of the older classes of Mrs. Prima decided to help us out, by the end of the day we''d multiple people gathering wood, cutting in into boards, and installing the playground. Once the metal was in place all that was left was to fasten the freshly cut wood on to create the platforms, only one of our six helpers was able to use earth magic, with only two of us we slowly created a sand pit around the new equipment. Having no cement to use we also had to harden the earth holding everything into the ground, on the bottom of each post was a fixed metal place making this easier. When we''d decided it was safe to use we immediately tested it out, even some of the adults passing by decided to join in the new experience. Within an hour all the kids in town came to join in and I initiated a large game of sand trap, with the design of the park it was approximately four times larger than the average one you''d see back in my world. Each path eventually would loop back to connect with the others including multiple ways to cross the gaps between, like this the game was able to handle the forty players without people crowding too much. Around a week later Mr. Bernard showed up in front of my house his horse resting outside, welcoming him inside Sam escorted him into the living room then left to prepare tea and fetch my parents. Around five minutes into tea I was called out to join them, apparently his reason for visiting this time was me rather than my mother. "I''d like to offer you a job improving and beautifying the town" Getting straight to the point he didn¡¯t give up the reigns and continued. "Having seen your work first hand with ideas during construction, toilets, and now this playground down at the school I''d like for more of it to exist throughout the city." Hearing this I was rather bored, I built the playground because I wanted to not because I wanted to make the city better. "All in all I''d be willing to turn over a large amount of power in the construction of the town to you" Hearing this he''d finally peaked my interest, of course I can''t give him what he wants so easily. "Alright on one condition though" Hearing this his expression changed from worrying over my impassiveness to a huge smile. "If it''s about your pay I doubt we''ll have any problem, if necessary I can pay you more than you father." Widening my eyes slightly I corrected my expression, obviously he valued having me on the payroll. I wasn¡¯t the only one shocked to hear this, my father was sitting in his seat completely bug eyed. " I want to learn how to blacksmith" This time it was Mr. Bernard''s turn to be shocked, in fact his face went completely pale. "Alright you''ve got yourself a deal young miss, you drive such a hard bargain I can already feel the pain Mordecai will inflict directly onto my wallet." Having finished his business Mr. Bernard left heading away from his home towards Mordecai''s shop, no doubt he was about to relieve some of the weight he was carrying around in his coin purse. Chapter 9: Becoming a Blacksmith Chapter 9: Becoming a Blacksmith I hope you''ll enjoy the chapter and point out any points I could make better with more description or not having put it in, if you do find a place that could be better comment on it and if possible please provide an example.
Over the next week I was introduced and put in charge of ten workers who in turn each commanded another hundred. Underneath those hundred workers was another ten for a grand total of ten thousand people put under my command, at first they were apprehensive I was after all only eleven years old. At the age of ten one enters into society and are eligible to start working their own job, up until then children can either play or apprentice. To start off I began by having a map drawn up to scale with the city, after having rulers crafted with perfectly equal spacing they set to work. With their entire labor force put to work the task was quickly and efficiently accomplished, seems the chain of command is incredibly reliable. Next was the planning for a series of streets and pathways I even threw in four large pools, sending my workers off I rushed over to Mordecai to ask for progress on the pipes I''d requested. Although not all of them were done he''d spent the last week together with Anthony and Kyle crafting only pipes, although I wasn¡¯t being taught by him yet my apprenticeship was set to start when things calmed down. Over the next four months the streets took form well underneath ran pipes for water, although I don¡¯t know the specifics the drains in this world seem to use a sort of teleportation magic I won''t ask much more than that. Within the next week all the pipes will be finished and I''ll begin to learn how to blacksmith in the new forge, although Mordecai hadn''t directly taken money he''d received a large compensation. Roughly fifteen hundred square feet the new store in a new market square would be able to showcase a large variety of his wares, built underground beneath the square itself was the actual forge. With a large amount of powerful fire mana stones the four forges could melt metal in an instant, spaced out were enough workstations for multiple blacksmiths and apprentices. The place was kept cool from the surrounding dirt''s temperature, together with ice and wind mana stones. Having been the one to help design the place I had suggested vents placed periodically all over, each one was large enough for a full grown man to crawl through but the other end was protected by a metal grate. Without the key no one could enter or exit through the use of the vents, having learnt about ice mana stones I later found it was possible to create lightning mana stones as well. Now I was one step closer to modern technology with this discovery, although it made me feel extremely foolish for talking about such a simple hand crank generator¡ Besides roads I''d gone around and ordered the workers to create flower boxes and a garden area within the city, after they''d finished I went and used natural energy to grow the flowers. With the use of my power I could increase the growth speed of flowers and trees, the climate was idea for fruit trees and bushes since even on the coldest day of winter you''d at worst be able to catch a cold for sleeping outside all night. After the new forge and shop were completed I was able to reassign the workers to creating water towers, one for every street with another two in the city center one for my house and one for the Bernard''s. Connecting them to the already placed pipes all that was left would be filling them with water, of course each one had enough water mana stones placed waiting to be activated the tank would fill in seconds. With a magic formation the towers were made nearly indestructible, and the stones would only activate once commanded by a magician. By the time this all finished my twelfth birthday came and passed, during the school months I was able to enjoy a leisurely vacation well others continued my work. Over these months a large amount of bricks and logs were gathered together, after a sufficient amount was collected some of the workers were repurposed to cut lumber. Without being able to tell what I was doing the workers constantly complained, it got to the point where Mr. Bernard came to pay me a visit. "Although I''d hired you with low expectations I''ve received strange reports, why have you only been building streets? Would it not be possible to build one area at a time like normal?" "Mr. Bernard I assure you things are going perfectly as planned, although I''ve only created streets their design is incredibly planned out allowing for an efficient use of space." Not stopping for a breath I continued, "Although water can be produced in one''s own home these pipes will allow us to rather than provide water but provide protection" Hearing this Mr. Bernard was stupefied obviously rethinking trying to win my mother''s favor through making me an advisor, "And how exactly could water provide protection?" With a smile slowly spreading across my face I replied with another question, "What''s the greatest weakness of a wooden house? Although they can be built faster brick houses are still chosen not for strength and stability." Hearing this Mr. Bernard seemed to see me in a new light so much so that even his tone of voice changed towards me, although before he''d acted like an adult talking to a child I didn¡¯t mind since I was a child. Now he spoke to me as though he would my father, he spoke as though speaking to someone of equal standing. Spending another hour I went over the rest of the plans I''d thought up for the city, liking most of what I''d recommended the plans were quickly set. Sending Mr. Bernard off I added some finishing touches and brought new orders to the workers the next day, from then on they''d have ten teams of ten each preparing the grounds for a house. After the first ten stone bases were ready workers started to create wood frame houses, spending around two to three weeks per house they''d move on to the next after placing boards horizontally across the outside of the frame. Keeping up with the order another team of ten would replace them to start placing one row of bricks along the outside of the houses, inside the framing would be attacked to the brick with metal straps placed when the walls were being built. Next metal sheets would be spread over the roof and fused together with a weld, well wool would be placed in between the studs. After I discovered that metal sheets were used for roofing I repurposed them for the exterior of the homes, instead of multiple boards a few sheets could quickly provide the support for the bricks. Wooden boards would then be stacked one atop each other inside the homes creating a horizontal striped look, although it was rough the entire thing took less time than brick homes and was easier to renovate. Although I''d only ever advised and never actually worked I was paid handsomely, although it was small compared to the gold I''d received on my tenth birthday it was still a relatively large amount. Turning thirteen I relinquished my position having taught them all I''d been able to think of, in return for my work I received a large property as a kind of severance package. Returning to school I was now given a new class since my old one had long ago graduated, this year the class was around twenty students rivaling my old world. Passing the months school quickly came to an end and my apprenticeship began! On my first day I headed straight to the new forge after breakfast, once I''d arrived Mordecai was upstairs organizing his new store. Seeing me I could sense the distain he felt towards me due to Mr. Bernard''s help, although it wasn¡¯t nearly as bad as when Anthony and Kyle had tried to teach me. Sadly my first day did not involve actually learning to blacksmith, unlike tailoring where you could learn as you go this was far different. Unlike with a cloth the metal and amour that would be forged had to be relied upon, should the temperature of the flame be even slightly off the product could be disastrous. I did however learn the basics of how to blacksmith right at the very end, first one would have to use a furnace to melt the metals they''d be using. The next step requires infusing one''s own chi into the molten metal, the first and second step could be done together. After that it was basically the exact same as tailoring, using ones imagination an image would appear and be altered by simple chi control. Truth be told it was exactly the same as tailoring from start to finish, the only differences would be materials and what energy would be used. Over a month into my apprenticeship and I''d still learnt nothing, instead I''d be responsible for cleaning, organizing, and running the store. If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it. Of course every so often Mordecai would have me either polish or sharpen an item on display, the real work started when he sent me into the underground warehouse. For an entire week I had to polish what seemed to be every weapon Mordecai had ever made, with cuts and bruises I finished my job with only one or two suits of armor falling on me. Three months with nothing more than book work, polishing, and sharpening I''d been able to polish my public relations and retail skills. By now the guards, mercenaries, and adventures who frequented the shop had become well acquainted with me, mostly I''d talk to the girls to avoid being hit on by the boys. At the tender age of thirteen I''d reach a height of five foot and a b-cup bust, although it was interesting at first I find they''ll just be a hassle to have if they continue to grow I can already feel discomfort from others constant looks. After work I''d always stop by at the tavern Selena works at, eating dinner together we''d talk about our days and recent developments. Last week was the most horrible conversation I''d ever had with her, she explained to me how she''d woken up in pain only to find herself covered in blood. Throwing herself out of bed she''d run to her parents'' bedroom, like I''d wanted to her father excused himself leaving his wife to handle the problem. If you hadn''t figured it out yet Selena finally had her period and she could now reproduce the beauty she''d been given, unlike me Anthony has avoided Selena since obviously not wanting to be around an aggravated girl. Now that it''d passed I found it far more comfortable to be around her, although during the last week our sparring matches had been particularly intense. Like this more time passed when finally during the start of summer I was brought downstairs, for most people entering the forge would leave them feeling awed. Having been here multiple times during its construction to offer my opinion, the completed product still left me speechless. Each part was created with an artistic feel and now there was carefully stacked ingots, and works of metal art Mordecai had added to feel more at home. To start my real apprenticeship Anthony and Kyle were the ones teaching me, Mordecai simply watched me as I worked to smelt the metals. Creating pure metal ingots for another month I was covered head to toe with sweat every day due to the high heat, although measures were taken to keep the place cool the furnace was too much. After purifying and pouring copper, iron, siler, gold, and other metals the ingots would be left to cool and removed from their mold later on. In the beginning I was unable to reach a level Mordecai was satisfied with but slowly my skills improved, after a week he called me subpar and allowed me to keep my work for my own later use. Two weeks and I''d reached the point where he''d allow Anthony and Kyle to use my metals, after that Kyle was sent to teach me how to mix steal and other alloys. Over the course of another month it was now reaching the latter half of the summer months, finally I was allowed to forge. Using my first metals I slowly melted them letting the heat build well pouring my chi into the molten liquid, after it was fully heated I used the tailoring ability with chi. Seeing this Mordecai, Kyle, and Anthony were quite surprised I''d been able to blacksmith without any instruction, knowing Mordecai wouldn¡¯t approve I avoided saying anything close to ''it''s just like tailoring.'' Of course I didn¡¯t even get to complete the shape of the knife I was trying to forge, by the time I''d gotten the rough shape the metal had cooled and solidified into a half made knife. For the first time since entering the shop Mordecai showed a smile on his wrinkly old face, happy with my failure no doubt he was hoping I''d quite since long ago. Had it not been for Mr. Bernard I have no doubt he''d have never let me past the shop itself, sending my silent thanks I once again started the forging process. This time I started to use purified fire chi on the metal, doing so increased the rate at which the metal melted seeing that I tried pushing in fire mana as well. Forging my knife once more the metal stayed hot far longer than before and I was able to complete the weapon, closing the screen the knife cooled off immediately. Reaching to grab the handle with a flash the knife disappeared before my eyes, looking up I could see Mordecai holding it well his hand was lit on fire. At first I thought he was trying to destroy my work but as soon as I looked into his eyes I could see him intently examining it, even if he''s sexist he''s a blacksmith first huh? Placing the knife back on the table Mordecai walked away without saying a word, Anthony on the other hand ran over to be the second to examine the knife. Picking it up off the table the blade once again lit aflame, staring at my knife he was speechless at first. Finally after a while he found his words, "How''d you craft an enchanted knife? Although the quality is subpar it''d still sell for far more than an ordinary one." An enchanted knife? "Do you use fire chi to forge the weapons and armor you make?" Hearing this even Mordecai turned around. "Did you just say you used fire chi to create that knife?" The look of his face was complete shock, this was the first time I''d seen his face so full of emotion. "Well that and fire mana, although it took quite a bit to make the results seem to be worthwhile." Anthony standing in front of me kept looking back and forth between us still not understanding. Seeing him like this Mordecai looked over and saw that Kyle was having the same kind of reaction, "Fire chi can be separated from the rest of your chi normally only done by experts, to have reached the level where one could forge with it the purity would have to be incredibly high" Hearing his praise I almost forgot he hated me for a second, in the next instance I fell to the ground clutching my stomach. A large pain came from my abdomen felt like a large knot in my intestines was pulling itself tighter, seeing this Mordecai let out a sneer and left the forge. His last words could barely be heard by me only said as quiet as a whisper, "This is why women shouldn¡¯t enter the forge." Helping me up Kyle practically carried me home whereas Anthony had quickly gone back to work, leaving me in the living room he ran off to get the healer. Seeing us Sam quickly stopped Kyle and sent him back to his work, helping me upstairs Sam started to explain. "Miss your body''s been going through changed for the last few years, but now the biggest change has just begun to happen." Continuing on she started to explain the birds and the bees, how I was born and that I myself would now be capable of producing my own daughter. Blah blah blah, over all it''s information I''ve had for years and the way she explains is a little too childish. Cleaning myself up Sam brought me a cloth to use and gave me dinner in bed, over the next week I refused to leave my room. The only people who''d be allowed to see me were Sam, Aura, and Selena all three of them encouraged me to come outside and explain how''d it''d get better. Truthfully I just wanted nothing to do with it and after it ended I felt a sense of bliss, spending my time training was impossible and so I just hid away inside my soul. Returning back to my blacksmithing job I was met with stares, Anthony avoided looking at me at all times whereas Kyle kept asking if I was alright. Mordecai was the one who glared daggers the entire time but stopped after the first few hours, after making ingots for myself I started on a proper weapon this time around. Using the same image of a knife it was created relatively easily this time around even having used the water element, matching the level of Kyle''s work I''d had nothing to do really besides visualize. With a clear picture I could now create a knife in minutes once the metal liquefied, next I''d try a sword using a larger amount of metal. Pocketing the knife I''d test out it''s abilities later on I''d tried to add an ice enchantment to it, feeling the blade it was cold but Mordecai reluctantly explained it was only due to the ice chi. The ice mana however is where the actual enchantment would come from, without something to test it on the results couldn¡¯t be verified. Spending over another year practicing my forging my fifteenth birthday was quickly approaching, only two months until I''d be accepted as an adult. Chapter 10: Emily''s Homecoming
I named this chapter 8 originally by accident lol :) Chapter 10: Emilys Homecoming Sorry about not posting in so long hopefully this next chapter is enjoyable, please point out anything to make it better!
Over the last year and a half my blacksmithing has steadily improved, moving on from the chi manifestation of shape to actual forging. The reason it seemed like I''d matched Kyle at first was because he was attempting to created something far stronger. Due to his bad habits I''d been able to pass him in around six months as opposed to Anthony who steadily practiced, not leaving the forge for over a year Anthony improved rapidly under Mordecai''s tutelage. By blacksmithing for a long period of time chi is trained, gathered, and refined none the less once I''d returned home I still absorbed mana and natural energy. To properly create a weapon a blacksmith must first melt the metal by using fire chi or a furnace, next you''d have to use earth chi to mold and strengthen the metal into a rough shape. After that real skill comes into play.. Coating a small area of the metal with fire chi would make the metal malleable, Earth chi would then be used to compress, bend, fold, and smooth the metal. Using water chi you''d cool and clean the metal before once again using fire chi to heat and temper the metal to make it more flexible and less brittle. Using Air chi you''d taper the edges of the hot metal creating a sharpness far surpassing ordinary blacksmithing methods, finally you''d end up with your finished weapon. Using chi in such a way would allow anyone to distinctively notice the difference and easily separate chi into its separate parts, well blacksmithing chi would constantly flow through the surrounding air fusing with the purified chi used on the weapons and eventually flowing back into you with it. Through this process I''d been able to reach the peak of the sixth advanced level, having taken five years I''d passed been stopped at the third level for over a year before learning from Mordecai. If only for persistence alone Mordecai taught me, Anthony on the other hand was like his own son well Kyle was someone he could barely stand to look at for the past year. Anthony asks a question he''d answer, Kyle asks a question he''d hesitantly answer, and if I asked a question he''d debate if he should answer before later on coming over to see my work. In the beginning Mordecai dreaded when I approached him and having to see my work, for the next few months even though I''d steadily improved he''d only call my work "satisfactory" or "adequate." Only once did he ever acknowledge me the day I left the forge¡ Two weeks before my birthday Emily contacted me, not having seen her in over five year I was ecstatic. Pointing out my soon to be age Emily had but one question, "Will you leave the village." Every single child has eight years to learn, play, and train before learning essential life skills, thus "entering society." Even just looking at the inhabitants of a demon town the only ages really seen are between five and fourteen or older than fifty, many demons even only settle down when over a hundred years old. Being a race where their population will reach at least five hundred years old before dying of age it can only be expected. Those who reach the age of fifteen are accepted as adults solely because they should have fully absorbed their crystal(s) by then, at the point where they can easily protect themselves they''re allowed to travel or go to a higher tier school. Emily was simply asking if I''d take to the tradition and travel, to that I only had one word "Yes!" Having spent years moving from place to place I''d still only seen a small portion of what lies on earth, in a world I''ve never seen before who could resist searching out other races! Hearing my answer Emily abandoned her residence of five years to hurry towards Bernard City, without stopping Emily would be a week''s flight away so taking a leisurely flight she''d be able to arrive shortly before my birthday. Since I was leaving the city it would only be proper to formally leave both the blacksmith and school, since the new semester would be starting soon Mrs. Prima ran laps around the city trying to find a replacement. Not really.. Having expected my decision as well as needing to deal with the large population she''d already recruited five new teachers, Mordecai on the other hand was actually sad to see me go. Over the next week Selena heard about me preparing to leave and came to see me, wearing a light green sundress she''d grown into a stunning beauty even with the saber hanging on her waist. Having made the saber myself I was particularly frightened by it having been one of my experimental swords, after spending two days fusing mana, chi, and natural wind energy into the metal I''d created a horrifying masterpiece. Truthfully it was the only weapon I''d created that could cut through my own defense, the ones Mordecai sold in his shop could cut advanced level one defense unless the user use their own energy to augment it. This sword alone could cut off a lower tier experts limb, due to the increased sharpness through wind chi and the invisible wind mana blade coating it. If it''s natural ability was used a wind tiger could be created with a slash crashing into the opponent before dissipating, but even then it could only kill those below the seventh advanced level with its claw slash. Mordecai having demonstrated it thus far was reluctant to even use the weapons true ability, instead he explained that the user could fuse the mana blade with the wind tiger. Doing so would cause the beast to multiple blades of wind, every part of the animal would be razor sharp and could tear the opponent to shreds. At first I''d wanted to lock it away in safe keeping or give it to my father, but having heard about it from Anthony she ran into the forge and pulled it off the storage rack. Using the weapon she instantly took a liking to it even to the point of using its abilities, afterwards the forge was disastrous but thankfully the younger apprentices weren¡¯t present. Having seen the whole thing instead of being angry Mordecai was ecstatic, to be able to use the swords ability at only a low level expert Selena was surely going to reach the emperor rank! Being a blacksmith Mordecai found a profound joy in people using the magnificent weapons that were created by himself or others, taking the damage out of my pay for weapons sold everything was resolved with Selena taking the sword. Hearing her reason for searching me out it was rather obvious she wanted to travel with me, normally those who leave would travel together with others their age to a main city and register as an adventurer like in games. Then they''d find party members who''d be able to compliment them after all with purely swordsmen or mages you''d be unbalanced! Being in a main city already we''d simply need to gather members. Kyle having heard Selena and I would leave together decided to join us, he''s lacking in close combat but his archery is superb surprisingly so is his fletching! Anthony chose to remain and refine his blacksmithing even further until he can create the best weapon Mordecai has ever seen! Archers require a large amount of natural energy to increase their speed and senses and fletching followed the same principle, using chi he''d create arrow heads to put on the arrows he''d "forged" with chi and natural energy! He''d even made his own bow having searched the forest for the perfect branch, although he was only at the second advanced level it was nothing to be ashamed of considering the path he''d chosen is so difficult! Emily would function as our magician with her natural fire abilities she wouldn¡¯t even need to use mana, all we''d need is a healer but considering I my light and water magic could equal a dual affinity made there would be no problem just the four of us. Gathering supplies was left entirely up to me Kyle and Selena went as far as to leave me all the money they''d earned over the last seven years, rather than making me handle the expenses I''m the only one with a void storage item. Thankfully my purse can hold an incredible amount and even preserves ingredients so I could even buy a year''s supply of food, purchasing supplies I quickly caused multiple shops to close for the day. Blacksmiths ran out of ingots, vendors ran out of ingredients, tailors ran out of high quality cloth, and herbs! Alchemy is a part of natural energy even if I don''t know it yet eventually I''ll be able to create elixirs! Fletching compared to alchemy is rather just a branch of blacksmithing using more natural energy only to allow chi to effect the wood, alchemy on the other hand uses mana natural energy making it a branch of tailoring. Even if tailoring is mostly used on cloth items can be created purely out of the elements themselves by using mana, for example a shadow cloak to make one disappear into the darkness. Natural energy itself is merely able to manipulate life itself, growing and altering plants I could even re-create plants from earth. After preparations were finished the next few days slowly passed as I created cloths for Emily, Selena, Kyle, and myself. On the morning of my birthday I was woken up earlier than usual, opening my eyes I could see a beautiful girl floating in the air above me. Looking her up and down my eyes slowly followed the slender curves of her slender body, glistening in the morning light she was partially covered in water. After she blushed I turned my gaze over towards the open bathroom door following the trail of water back from my bed, looking into her crimson eyes the mark on my head flared up. Support the author by searching for the original publication of this novel. The girl above me was Emily all grown up! "Hello master, it''s nice seeing you''ve grown to be a powerful young woman." " What''s wrong Emily we''re both girls aren''t we why the need for embarrassment?" it may have been years ago but I can still remember the words said after encountering Emily inside my soul. Smiling Emily lowered herself to the floor only then causing me to notice that she''d not been using her wings, shocked I was barely able to force out the words "Emily have you reached the angel tier?" Shaking her head I was actually slightly relived the technique she''d used simply required air elemental magic, flight magic actually does exist so I don¡¯t know why I''d assume she''d become an angel already. Getting out of bed Emily accompanied me to my closet, although most of my things have already been cleaned out two dresses were left hanging along with four towels stacked by the door. Passing Emily two towels I headed towards my dresser, pulling out both a bra and panties for Emily I went about altering them to fit her current proportions. Having created form sitting clothing for so long I could instantly tell a person''s dimensions from seeing their body, of course if they wore an improper bra or extremely tight clothing I''d be marginally wrong. Looking at Emily naked it was easy to tell she''d require a larger bra than me, roughly a 42c compared to my own 34b. Unable to understand why I felt a sense of inadequacy I shrugged it off and quickly completed my work, putting them on Emily was now much easier to look at. Being a tailor I''ve seen hundreds of naked women by now but always felt like the gay best friend, having them stand in multiple poses and touching them well taking measurements and I''d felt nothing no pressure in the pants. Sitting down afterwards would be uncomfortable so I''d always worked well standing up to create their orders, after the women left I''d secretly head to the back to change over my underwear but that was that. Handing Emily her dress I grabbed the other towels and headed off for my own bath, coming out shortly after my hair and body were both wrapped by towels leaving only my glistening arms and legs exposed. Quickly getting dressed I all but ran down the stairs in my heels to be met with my parents, Sam, and Emily gathered around the table. Although turning fifteen signifies one becoming an adult only the tenth birthday is really celebrated, instead all we had was a small family celebration. In the end mom gave me traveling money and dad gave me an extremely sharp dagger to stab boys with, I promised I''d use it on Kyle by the end of the day causing him to both frown and smile at once. No doubt he was regretting me traveling with Kyle well at the same time happy I''d have a use for his gift, Sam on the other hand simply grabbed both Emily and me for a large hug causing my parents to join in. Seeing us off at the door we headed towards Selena''s house picking up Kyle along the way, knocking on the door it was Anthony who greeted us. Wrapping his arms around me with a hug my hand reached for the dagger I''d recently acquired, "please take care of my sister." Saying that he released his hold on me well I released my hold on the dagger, than he wiped the tears from his eyes as he looked over to Kyle. "And you stay away from my sister! If I hear you even touched her with a pat on the head I''ll¡¡.." By the end of it Kyle went completely pale and promised to never touch Selena again. Hearing the "again" Anthony as if to match Kyle had all the blood drained from his face before it all came flooding back in rage, appearing just at the right time Selena slipped past her brother grabbed Kyle by the ear and led the way towards the adventurers guild. Arriving at the guild I was met with an unbelievable sight, although I''d helped with the plans for the city the adventurers district is the sort of red light district. Along the way down the side alleys both men and women could be seen wearing seductive clothing, skimpy clothing, or almost no clothing at all. In front of some stores were men wearing entirely black clothes holding chains leading towards the collars around the necks of the woman standing next to them, seeing the four of us their eyes lit up but their bodies remained firmly in place. Passing them as quickly as possible we made a b-line to the adventurers guild, passing by numerous people our age or slightly older we''d finally arrived. Today is the start of the school semester, the first day when adventurers can take their, and sadly my birthday the first day of the year.. Entering the guild was a crowd of hundreds of youths taking up the entire building, looking back through the open door I could see more and more slowly trickling in. All of a sudden the doors slammed shut throwing two people back and trapping everyone else inside, "Q-U-I-E-T-!-!" Instantly the room turned dead silent until the voice spoke again, "The test will begin in thirty seconds, Defend yourselves!" All of a sudden a miasma spread throughout the room, once it evenly covered the entire crowd it became stronger. Slowly one by one the number of people standing turned from a thousand down to five hundred, after ten minutes over nine hundred people were brought out of the room leaving less than ten percent of us. Turning up the strength even higher I was forced to use mana to augment my chi barrier, Kyle having some trouble had long ago started using natural energy. Selena and Emily on the other hand both seemed to be fine solely using chi to protect themselves, looking around the room I began memorizing the faces of the experts left. Finally after what seemed to be an eternity only eleven people were left, out of them Kyle and another boy looked to be worst off. On the brink of collapse Kyle barely made it, with the other boy collapsing to the ground the attack lessened signifying we''d passed! Without my own natural energy I would have no doubt failed so I can imagine what Kyle himself we through, with only two powers inside of him he''d barely passed. Looking over at Emily she was the only one left in perfect condition with only chi, even Selena looked flushed. Heading over to the counter Emily had to help Kyle over, with a short wait six people went ahead of us before I finally approached the counter. "Hello I''d like to register the four of us as an adventurer team." Hearing this the woman looked utterly shocked, slowly her gaze passed over the four of us one by one. "Miss only one person needs to pass the test to become a team leader, why did all of you take it?" Looking over to Selena she simply shrugged, Kyle unable to do anything looked like he wanted to collapse even more after hearing that and Emily was impassive as always. "We simply didn''t know, we only came here to register as adventurers and form a party." Hearing this the woman looked like she understood but her initial surprise remained. Registering the four of us as adventurers she also handed each of us a card, on the card stated out party, position, race, gender, and rank. Normal adventurers would start at the earth level, and only those of the air, fire, light, or shadow rank could form a party. The four of us having passed the test skipped over both the earth and water ranks and could form parties as air rank adventurers. No wonder the test was so hard I''d had to use all my strength to resist to the end, Kyle being a skirt chaser could only barely keep others safe! Leaving the adventurers guild we took a different route out and headed towards the merchants district, reaching the main square there were market stalls as far as the eyes can see. Entering the merchants guild I headed straight towards the transport section, according to the attendant only three merchants were leaving in the next couple days. Heading out of the guild we rushed to the city walls to try and meet the merchant Erik before he left, reaching the gates I saw a merchant caravan carrying multiple people and goods. "Excuse me Mr. Erik where exactly would you be heading?" Slowly turning his head towards me a man in the leading cart slowly spoke. "The human kingdom of Kalmar, why are you interested in hiring transport?" Seeing the greed in his eyes I doubted he could see Selena, Emily, or me as anything but money. Smiling I walked towards the cart holding out my hand, grasping Erik''s hand I began our introductions "Selena, Emily, Kyle, and Azura passage for four please." Looking us up and down Erik''s eyes lingered on my clothes no doubt inspecting the quality of the fabric, "Ten gold for passage, five gold for protection and food." Smiling I took out the fifteen gold from my purse only to have it instantly snatched from my hands, ignoring his mannerism I climbed onto the cart he pointed out offering my hand to Selena. Emily passed Kyle over to use and easily jumped the meter up into the cart, the second she landed the cart started moving heading away from the city. After a couple of minutes I couldn¡¯t help but look back muttering, "Goodbye Oakheart I hope you''re still standing by the time I return." Chapter 11: Attack! Chapter 11: Attack! So yeah it''s been two weeks since i posted a chapter sorry, I wrote it long ago but this would be the fourth version. At first I was going to have Jacob appear but he''s the prince of an upcoming nation who''s busy (when not living outside of the city in a beast form). Than I was thinking i''d rather bring him up later I haven''t forgotten about him!!! Reasoning for earlier things will also accompany Jacobs appearance.. Racial magic i''m glad you asked I was coming up with how to do that but have those of you who think i''m neglecting it thought about the chi and magic crystals she has in her? They are racial aspects and will be shown later once she needs them (it''s be interesting to put my thoughts together on that) And I apologies about by shaky writing i''m better at the middle of a story than the beginning or end :) [hr} Although uncomfortable at first gradually we all became accustomed to the bumps in the wagon as it sped down the dirt roads, traveling for the entire day was quite boring so naturally I chose to train. When night arrived we slept in tents provided by the merchant and ate and drank together with the caravan, the guards always ready with their weapons joined us unworried so close to Bernard city. Waking early the next morning Selena, Emily, and I snuck off to wash with a magic stone shower head Emily thought of during her training in the wild. Returning back we handed it off to Kyle who arrived back just in time for the caravans departure, Erik being who he is was planning to leave regardless of who came with him having already received payment. On the third day we''d fully adapted to life with the caravan, each day we''d be up before sunrise naturally and train well waiting for the merchants to wake up. A hired chef would then start to make breakfast together with a few other hired help, during this time we''d sneak off to shower. During travel we''d meditate together and surprisingly I found my natural energy increasing faster than before, actively enhancing my vision with it I could see rather than just feel the natural energy. Looking around Emily was simply attracting it but not absorbing it herself, Kyle having felt the same sensation as me was happily meditating the day away. Selena on the other hand felt for the first time the natural energy of the world, watching her she was only able to take in an incredibly small amount. Later that evening we''d finally reached the first town on our journey, looking around I could see familiar faces of the guards my father''d trained. Only having been recently established Mr. Bernard had made many small towns like this one as well as protecting the existing small villages. Greeting them with a wave of my hand I returned back to training well Selena and Kyle left to explore the town, Emily knowing some of the guards went over to greet them personally. Within a few hours Selena returned having fully explored the town, Kyle on the other hand was apparently working to find his own accommodations for the night. Selena had last seen him exiting the tavern with a group of several unsuspecting village girls, why he was with seven of them neither of us could understand. Spending the night together in the inn Selena, Emily, and I all enjoyed the confort of a warm bed, waking up late the next morning we skipped training to eat in the inn. On the lower floor was the only tavern in town coming down the stairs Kyle was already seated flirting, seeing us he raised his hand and continued his conversation. The girls with him looked a little unhappy but a few words from Kyle and the expression immediately disappeared, watching Selena couldn¡¯t help but laugh as Emily an I found us a table. Coming over a pretty brunette serving girl happily took our order breakfast for four, being a small town the tavern only provided 3 meals a day changing on a regular basis nothing else was served besides alcohol. Shortly after the food arrived Kyle made his way over taking the empty seats, all four of us received hostile glares at this point. Emily, Selena, and I were receiving daggers from the girls whereas Kyle was mentally beaten by every guy in the bar, do doubt they we upset by his antics with the village girls. Leaving the town shortly after breakfast our life on the road began anew, flying by the countryside passed by. Although we''d just left a capital city the surrounding area was still just frontier settlements, passing through two more towns we finally reached the border between kingdoms. By now our caravan had greatly expanded taking in three merchant apprentices with freshly emptied coin purses and two other groups of travelers, no longer meditating Kyle chose to flirt with the two girls who''d joined us. Switching between tents the girls seemed to be passing him back and forth on a nightly basis, all I could really think of was that it''s a horrific game of Frisbee. Selena couldn¡¯t look in his direction without blushing in embarrassment, whereas the rest of the caravan resorted to spitting in his food and other antics. Emily and I simply ignored him through training as well as the advances of the men who''d try and converse with the only girls immune to Kyle. Eventually Selena severely reprimanded Kyle.. with her fist and he no longer dared to go near anyone on the caravan, afterwards both of them received better treatment than before. Selena was treated like a concurring hero, whereas Kyle was treated as a prisoner rather than scum. Passing over the border was as simple as crossing an invisible line, with now settlements in sight it was hard to determine when one had actually crossed the border itself. Spending another two days mediating while traveling we reached the first village in Jayden''s kingdom, spending the night we Kyle went on his fourth house hunt. Having resigned herself to being unable to control Kyle in a town Selena compromised by keeping the caravan and any new recruits untouched, the first two girls showed an obvious dislike towards her unlike the others who merely laughed at the girl keeping her boyfriend at bay. Hearing this Selena couldn¡¯t help but blush quickly followed by a sucker punch to Kyle''s gut, quickly clearing any misunderstandings Selena returned to Emily and I. After hearing we''d be staying in the village for a few days Selena went off to scout the surrounding areas with Emily while I worked on a new leather armor with my tailoring. Using Chi the armor itself would become far stronger well water and light magic added regenerative properties, creating the suit for Selena was top priority requiring all of my concentration. Unlike meditation this simply couldn¡¯t be done while traveling, working for the next sixteen hours I was barely able to finish the chest piece. Leaving the shin and leg guards for tomorrow I slipped into my bed at the inn and quickly fell into a deep sleep, woken by Selena the next morning we ate breakfast together before returning to our activities. During breakfast Selena described the various beasts she''d killed together with my saber, entering the forest she''d even met with monsters that forced her to use its first ability! Harvesting their crystals she seemed to be able to make a decent amount, Eric hearing she''d sold them to the town was furious saying something about their value to humans for their awakenings. Telling her about the armor I handed over the chest piece, although it wasn¡¯t a full set it would be better than nothing. After walking Selena out of the town I walked towards the river finding myself a quiet place to work, sitting on a large rock next to the riverbed I started on an arm guard. After two to three hours I''d finally finished the first one, although it was still rather simple Selena would appreciate the extra defense. Kyle on the other hand created himself an entire armor made out of wood, harder than steel a basic sword wouldn''t even be able to scratch it. Light and durable it was perfectly suited to a rangers abilities, unfortunately it had to be maintained constantly or it''d fall apart. Each time he uses it he''d have to create it from scratch, however be creating it again and again he could fully fletch it in seconds from the materials prepared in his bag. Creating the second wrist guard took substantially less time unlike the first shin guard which took roughly six hours from start to finish, stopping by the inn for a late lunch I wandered around for about an hour or so before starting the second. Finishing up around sunset I returned to the inn only to find Selena had yet to return, considering we''d be leaving tomorrow this was particularly unusual. Waking Emily we she located Kyle and we grabbed him before rushing out of the village, fully armed we headed directly towards the forest. The instant we entered under the canopy of leaves Emily changed directions and increased her speed to its limit, working hard to keep up Kyle and I barely kept her in sight as we closed in on the sounds of battle. Help support creative writers by finding and reading their stories on the original site. Emerging in a large clearing hundreds of hobgoblin bodies could be seen covering the ground well a far larger number clustered together, from my position I could barely make out Selena fighting in the center covered in wounds. Heavily bleeding from her right arm she''d been forced to wield her saber with only her left hand, with each wave of attacks a new cut would appear on her body. Right behind me Kyle was greeted with the same sight as Emily was already rushing into battle, seeing Selena in danger he couldn¡¯t help but curse under his breath something about Anthony killing him. Sensing the change in chi I could tell he''d already begun constructing his armor, throwing his bag towards Selena the wood began to fuse together and wrap around her form. Barely covering her as a sword headed directly towards her chest Selena was no longer able to move but fully protected by Kyle''s armor, made to fit him all it could do was protect Selena while hindering her movements. Drawing his bow he''d aimed at the ones directly attacking her killing them with an arrow through the skull, being an intermediate level opponent hobgoblins could easily be killed by anyone near our level. While Kyle did all this it only took a second however I''d been delayed while my brain took a moment to process the battle, channeling my wind chi to increase my speed mana quickly wrapped itself around my hands. Forming a miniature tornado covering my hand I struck directly towards the first hobgoblin in my path, creating a large hole in his chest without stopping for a second I lashed out with a swift kick to its approaching companions. Killing a hobgoblin with every strike I was able to slowly work my way towards Emily who''s similarly covered in fire magic, fireballs freely flying in all directions I''d probably entered the most dangerous area of the battle! Barely managing to dodge a fireball headed directly towards me I was only able to retreat from her onslaught, sensing movement behind me I could only turn around fast enough to see the creature fall with an arrow sticking out of its eye socket. Holding down yesterdays supper I could only fight the hobgoblins quickly surrounding me, releasing more mana blades of wind flowed out with every slash of my hand. Copying Emily''s fighting style I was barely able to hold off their immense numbers, changing my attack once again this time a tornado formed with me directly at its center. Forming numerous blades of win my mana quickly drained while the creatures fell in waves, after around thirty minutes of continuous battle my wind mana finally ran out forcing me to switch elements. Emily still throwing fireballs had used considerable less mana than me while Kyle had run out of arrows and engaged in close quarters combat as well. Forming a protective layer of chi around himself he was now using a similar combat style to Selena, cutting down as many enemies as he could to keep the space around him clear. By the end of the battle Emily was no longer using fire magic and I couldn¡¯t use any magic at all, fighting solely with chi strengthening my hits. Kyle on the other hand seemed to have retreated not having been much of a presence for the last while, using the last of her magic Emily had finished off the hobgoblins. Rushing towards Selena Kyle''s armor had returned to its natural state in all aspects but form, tearing it off I easily exposed Selena''s crimson body. Her clothes were torn to shreds and the skin underneath mangled using her light magic Emily started to heal her, watching the wounds pull themselves closed is really an incredible sight. Hearing a noise I couldn¡¯t help but look out over the battlefield, although Kyle had yet to appear I could hear him softly calling out. Scanning over the corpses a distinctly human limb was sticking out underneath a pile of hobgoblins, rushing over I could see Kyle pinned to the ground with a blade shaped like a lightning bolt. Seeing me some life returned to his pale face as his hand reached towards me, immediately calling over Emily he simply shook his head. Looking at him even I could tell he was only holding on due to his slightly regenerated natural energy, pushing my own through his body was all I could do to give him a little more time. After an uncertain amount of time Emily came over helping a limping Selena, seeing Kyle she fell to the ground next to him tears slowly forming in the corner of her eyes. Looking at Emily she imitated Kyle.. both of them knew he''d never be able to live with our current abilities, Selena and I holding his hands was all the help we could offer. Many hours passed even after his life had ended we stayed silently morning the loss of his life, Emily had long ago began clearing the hobgoblins away and setting up a campground. Smelling the roasting meat on the fire Selena finally gave into her own needs and left me alone with his corpse, death being a new experience for me only made losing my best friend harder. Eventually the sun began to set while Emily and Selena had long ago drifted off to a tear filled sleep, remaining beside Kyle I was finally able to move upon hearing an animal by the cliff. Looking up I could see a small wrinkly green creature poking its head out of a nearby cave, feeling an intense pressure in my chest I rushed towards it. Seeing me the creature immediately turned and fled back into the cave, following it inside the cave opened up roughly fifty meters in turning into a large cavern. My eyes having already adjusted could easily see roughly seventy to a hundred more goblins swarming towards me out of multiple tunnels, using earth magic I merely caused the ceiling to slightly collapse crushing them all. Walking around the rubble and entering one of the side paths multiple sleeping areas could be found with sleeping goblin infants, turning them into ash as I passed slowly made me feel better. Finally at the end of the tunnel five entirely nude human women were collapsed on the floor chained attaching them to the walls, approaching them they remained in place. Looking closer at their faces they were completely lifeless, ending their lives was the only way I could help them end their suffering. Turning to leave I headed back to the main cavern before heading down another path, this time there were no goblin infants but at the end of the tunnel ten more women were chained to the wall. This time all of them were clothed and placed on a bed of moss, all of them were pregnant with what I could only assume to be goblin children. Again I killed them before heading down the third path, now I was met with fully grown goblins trying to block my path. With a sweep of my hand their heads disconnected from their bodies as they fell to the ground, walking for over an hour I finally reached the end chamber. To my surprise the only thing here was a large crib moving closer I was completely shocked by my discovery, rather than a wrinkled apple sized goblin a normal baby was laying inside. Other than it''s skin being entirely green it looked completely like a normal human''s baby boy, picking it up I carried it back to the main cavern heading down the final path. Walking around ten minutes down this path and another cavern opened up, looking around five other tunnels branched off from here. Heading down the first on the right only took around five minutes until I reached the end, more women were in chains but this time they were both wearing armor. Both were Elves one around my age the other looked slightly younger, looking between the two of them they were obviously sisters. Forcing earth chi and mana through my blade I delicately sliced the shackles around their arms, using water magic I drenched them. Coughing out the water filling their mouths they both woke up full of life, the younger girl started crying causing the baby in my arm to cry as well. The older girl however focused her eyes on me before looking down at her freed hands, "Thank you" were the only words she spoke. "Help up your sister and follow me" Heading back the three of use turned down the other four tunnels; inside the second was a human girl about fourteen, the third was empty, in the fourth tunnel we found gold and some gems that I quickly stored away, and in the fifth tunnel was a store of food. Leaving behind the disgusting goblin lair the four of us made out way back to Emily and Selena while the ceiling behind us slowly began to collapse step by step sealing off the cavern forever.
Thank you for pointing out my while issue ill make sure to work on that :) Chapter 12: Chapter 12: Journey So this chapter is short but i''ve been editing the previous chapters to try to make them more coherent and a little less jerky, i wont be posting the edits until they''re all done but ill be posting in the meantime. Next chapter will be larger and this chapter will go through editing it''s still fairly rough and choppy like some of the earlier chapters, I hope it''ll help with questions before making more but please voice them in the comments if i do.
Staying up through the night I set up a larger campgrounds, having the two elven girls set up two more tents the human girl started roasting the rest of the boar Emily captured earlier. Finishing their meal the girls head off to bed while I used magic to turn the hobgoblin''s to ash and wind magic to scatter their remains far away from here. By the time I finished it was nearly morning and Emily and Selena would soon wake up, returning to the camp site I found Emily in front of the fire cooking breakfast for six. Holding out a share for me I gladly accepted and sat down next to her, Selena on the other hand woke up shortly after my return. Exiting her tent with a surprised expression, locking her gaze on me and Emily she came to join us. "What''s with the extra tents?" Emily having yet to ask wasn¡¯t surprised Selena beat her to it, in fact it seemed as though she''d waited for Selena herself to ask. "They were goblin prisoners, and a baby." Looking at them they were both shocked, looking behind me they finally noticed the child sleeping in my tent. Selena was the first to head over drawing her sword before she saw it up close, "It''s a goblin king!" Going into a longer explanation that I hardly heard Selena is an ogre king but regular ogres exist, once every hundred generations or so magical beasts are able to create "kings." These kings have the appearance of a humanoid with far greater intelligence and power than a regular human, using their racial magic they''re able to hid their horns or skin color and control their respective races. Looking into my own race I''m a Incubus King and a fairy queen, all of the demonic races are the same Emily included otherwise we''d lack crystals inside our bodies. Humans, Dwarves, and Elves naturally train their own power rather than passing it down genetically, over thousands of year many of the lesser species have died out you''d be hard pressed to find a wild Incubus. During our conversation the elven sisters came to join us for breakfast only to be surprised by Selena''s lesson on evolution, being a king of a non-extinct race she''d grown up knowing all of this from a young age. Finally having calmed down the two of them were able to introduce themselves, the older girl Amber is sixteen whereas her sister Julia is only ten years old. Traveling together with their father the hobgoblins attacked killed their horses and father while taking them back to be chained up in the cave, having seen the other girls I didn¡¯t have the heart to tell them what they''d already suspected. The twelve year old human girl Snow finally awoke after we''d all eaten our breakfast, while I was feeding the baby goblin king she quickly ate and we introduced ourselves. After finally falling asleep the next month passed in a my rage filled stupor everyday I''d wake up with little energy but for the first week when any form of goblin approached I''d suddenly gain the energy to slaughter it, killing every goblin and hobgoblin within the range of my senses I''d finally encountered a goblin mage. Goblins have green skin whereas hobgoblins have a sort of dark bluish green color mages are the only exception, encountering and killing a black goblin would result in death of anyone lower than a master. While goblin mages are dangerous I''d only encountered a red goblin, with an explosion of fire magic with me at the epicenter burned the outside of my entire body. Coated in burns Emily was barely able to heal me into a stable condition, afterwards no goblins seemed to appear nearby. Throughout this time I''d been reliving Kyle''s death, the goblins I''d killed, the women I''d killed, and my own near death experience. My main companion was the goblin child Elyk named by Emily in honor of Kyle he seemed unwilling to leave my side, after spending a month together with me it''d already grown strong enough to walk. The girls I''d saved were unwilling to head towards the nearby village by themselves while Selena and Emily refused to leave me in this state. Either way the girls probably viewed it as safer to stay with the three of us anyways, Selena and Emily were basically unaffected so time slowly passed by as the six of us grew closer. Although I was mostly shut off I could remember them coming to check on me and see how Elyk was doing their actions were memorable even if their words became blurred. By the time I''d woke up from my ''trance'' Amber and Snow were far more open than I''d remembered them, Amber was like a kind older sister role model; pretty, kind, and giving off a warm maternal feeling. Snow''d bonded to Selena''s hip as a younger sister while only Julia remained a little hesitant around the others, Amber having noticed my observation merely said she was a shy child to begin win. Having been holed up in a tent for over a month the first thing Emily did was drag me off, heading to a nearby river she''d previously looked for it was a beautiful scene. Using earth magic Emily was able to create a fairly large pool of water off to the side while warming it with her fire magic, by the looks of it she''d spent a considerable amount of time to make it look like a beautiful natural pond. Surrounded by bushes and trees even if others were nearby it''d be incredibly hard to find, even the river wasn''t visible even though it was only about ten meters away. Jumping in with her clothes still on Julia was the first to enter our magical bath, soon followed by Snow having thrown hers off to the side. Amber, Selena, Emily and I on the other hand chose to take off and wash our clothes of blood and grim in the river before we entered, with the water continuously flowing in and out it didn¡¯t really matter but they''d dry faster without wearing them. Looking more closely at the three girls Amber and Julia really were easily recognized as sisters, besides the facial similarities since their hair was cleaned of the original girt and grim it was a beautiful blonde. Together with their pointed ears and mesmerizing silvery eyes Amber was a beauty and Julia would obviously grow up similarly, standing roughly five foot seven Amber was nearly a head taller than me. Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon. Snow on the other hand has beautiful blue eyes and pure white hair matching her name, her story was far worse than the other girls. Having been captured within the human nation she''d been captured by the hobgoblins over a month ago and forced to travel almost constantly without rest, every time she heard a noise she''d always thought of someone coming and granting her freedom from the beasts. Having been in the cave the goblins had left the alone for over a week before Selena was ambushed outside their lair, fighting defensively she''d been able to hold out for a much longer time that Emily and myself. Having expended massive amounts of power we''d slaughtered them as quickly as possible, naturally we''d both run out of energy far faster than Selena who fought to preserve her own life. Julia having decided her clothes were now in the way stripped throwing her robes over onto a rock to dry in the sunlight, having gotten more used to us she no longer stayed hugging her sisters hip. Amber on the other hand still closely watched her sister, not that she seemed wary of us but rather just a deep love for her sister could be seen in her gaze. Relaxing in the bath for a while longer the six of us enjoyed our bath, after learning about each other''s lives and experienced we''d bonded simply by talking with one another. Amber and Julia are high elves raised in a mountain village surrounded by beautiful nature on all sides, the elven culture was similar to that of traditional Japan making a public bath a common occurrence for them. Snow on the other hand was raised directly in the human kingdom, the human culture of this world closely matches with that of my own world. Having been wearing a knee length skirt this whole time that and her sleeveless blouse made her stand out, Amber and Julia on the other hand wore something similar to a kimono. There were only two things all of us had in common each of us had learnt to wear high heels from the age of ten and none of us had ever actually worn pants, shorts, or tank tops, etc Women in this world truly did have a restricted dress code.. Leaving the bath my first task was to create clothing for the three additions to our group, spending another week in our mountain side camp Selena no longer hunted or chased away nearby goblins. Relaxing after such a long time my two long time friends were finally able to sleep well for the first time since my near death experience, since Eric had no doubt long ago abandoned us we were in no hurry to return to the village and pay his overcharged travel fees. Crafting our own wagon too up the majority of our time Selena, Emily, and I could run or fly anywhere but the other four would be hard pressed to follow. Selena and Emily having fought off a large wolf from our campsite decided to search it out and tame it as a mount, ignoring the fact that we''d we traveling with a wolf the idea was better than pulling it ourselves. Packing up our tent we once again traveled the roads although a little faster than before, other travelers seeing the wolf drawn wagon panicked until they''d noticed the cart or we''d already passed them. Passing quickly by the country side we''d encounter a new town every day regardless of the time we''d stop to spend the night, having left the merchant caravan it became more and more clear just how much Eric had overcharged us. Although I hadn''t cared at the time he''d made me pay nearly a hundred times what another merchant would have asked, especially with us being adventurers we could even get rides for free depending on their situation. After about the third town Julia had an episode that exposed her secret, the reason she''d been shy was due to having been bullied due to her lack of ability.. Of course that was a lack of chi and magic¡ Unlike most people Julia had been born far more unique, she''d been granted a matter affinity. To fully explain it she could mentally control matter with physic abilities, having been nearly trampled by a horse her powers came to light. Throwing the horse and carriage nearly ten meters into the air Amber was barely able to calm her down enough to save the lives of those inside, afterwards we ended up staying inside the inn for another week until she was able to calm down. Amber on the other hand ended up having her own natural abilities, although she was only average with magic she had a keen eye and purchased a few different unknown treasures for a very small amount. Flooding them with mana or chi caused an exponential change showing the items true abilities, although useless for normal people any expert would want to get their hands on them. One was a magical mirror allowing you to use clairvoyance to view a person or location, the other a hairclip that could summon a tamed djinn although only a low level imp. Giving the imp to her sister she was actually able to absorb it into her soul world and increase her mana, chi, and physic energy. Emily having explained the process was the most shocking out of the three of them, seeming like a limitless source of information all she knew was how to become stronger. Traveling through the towns we eventually encountered a surprise Amber and Julia were incredibly happy to see, the inn we stayed at had an open air hot spring. Leaving that village we spent another two weeks journey we''d arrived in the capital of the Loew Kingdom, over the journey I''d gotten far closer with the girls and Julia even came to talk and bond with Snow. Amber and Selena usually left them alone sitting over with me behind Emily as she drove the wagon, with the wolf under her strict control and my repairs we''d managed to make it to the city in one piece. Heading to an inn we rented the entire top floors four bedrooms, resting for the night Selena and I prepared to head to the castle in the morning.
This chapter could use some major work but I still wanted to post something, the next chapter will be better, this one would have been better but felt like ending it where it was to postpone something... Hotspring is probably over the top after already having a pond bath but I really wanted to emphasise the Elves are a Japanese culture, Demons are very very old fashion, Beasts will be amazon kind thing, and Human more modern.. Dwarves well im not looking forward to them but i like dwarves.
