《ercse0》 Ch1 Rushing Into the Base Classes
You have killed slime!
exp +10
¡°Hmm? exp notification pops up.¡± ¡°Ah right, looks like we got the system setting reset after closed beta.¡± ¡°Let¡¯s stop a bit to re-customize¡± ¡°¡±¡±alright/¡¯kay/sure¡±¡±¡± After a brief moment, we resumed our hunting. Despite being lv 1 all the same, the crowd of slimes did not stand a chance against our group of knife wielding traveler. As it stands, the cute bubbles are just fodder so that new player can get the hang of the game. In fact, most slime was killed just because they were on the way to our destination, which, we have finally arrived at. It is a large clearing with some wild wolfs strolling here and there. Although wolfs would usually hunt in packs, these particular low level ones are made so that random newbie does not get overwhelmed too quickly when they went too deep into the forest. Stone: ¡°I¡¯ll agro first¡± Rick: ¡°I¡¯m going to attack after¡± Walking up to the lv7 wolf, I slouch my body in preparation if it suddenly lunges at me. It turns its head toward me in a startled manner and as I predicted, lowered its body as an initial movement before its attack. The attack did not come to me though, as the wolf was slashed on its sides by Rick. It did a quick scratch to him that did not reach as Rick already backed away right after his attack. Seeing an opening, pudding slashed on its behind and quickly back away in a similar manner. The wolf can¡¯t even attack her as she is in its opposite direction. ¡..yes, pudding is her IGN. Seeing that it was being surrounded by the six of us, the wolf tried another tactic. It tries to lunge at one of us to break free of the encirclement while attacking. Our party member avoided it to the side easily though, as we¡¯re all being wary of its attack pattern. He even sneaked in a slash. As expected of our would-be thief. Now that it¡¯s out of the encirclement, we reformed the encirclement anew. The pattern restarts and the wolf dies after some 5 more slashes. In total, the fight lasted about half a minute.
Congratulation! You have leveled up!
There was one time that one of us was supposed to be hit and be killed in one hit by the wolf, but I got to her side in time so that the wolf hit both of us. It caused the damage to ¡®disperse¡¯ and we both took only half damage (which is 70% each of our HP) to which she thanked me. The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement. Now that we leveled up, our HP was filled back to full. We got 10 attribute and 2 skill points which we spent on the spot. By the way, I spent mine fully in VIT stat and passive defense skill because I¡¯m aiming to be a tanker. We split in a group of 3 and each group pick on a wolf to hunt. The whole reason that we pick on a wolf 6 on 1 is because we¡¯d be finished in 1 hit in level 1, but with 6 people, it would be easier to do the trick I just did if needed be. Now, that we¡¯re level 2, it became relatively safer as we could survive 1 hit from the wolf. It became a race of which of us would get level 5 first. We kept at repeating the trick like before over and over until we reached level 5. Result: My team lost T_T The wolves that died shimmered in light before fading into nothingness leaving loots like, skin, meat, teeth or even equipment. Dropped equipment is given to someone with appropriate ¡°would-be class¡±. After reaching level 5, we went back to the starting village to take the base class. There was a village elder NPC who we talked to get our class. The base classes include warrior, mage, rogue and crafter. Because of the occasion, let¡¯s mention our respective class and race! Stone (me): stone golem, warrior. Rick (male): Minotaur, warrior. Rando (male): Cat-man, rogue. Saturn (female): elf, rogue. Pudding (female): angel, mage. Lena (female): fairy, mage. We all know each other in real life and had guild in previous games and played beta test together. The dropped loots and equipments were given to our other members which are crafters in addition to some silver and copper, and they gave us pre-made full sets of lv5 armors. Weapons are given to us during class up. There were choice of weapon like 2H/1H mace, axe and sword and shield for warriors. I naturally chose 1H mace and shield. Now fully equipped with respective class, we set out to another hunt~

Ch2 Stone and The Supreme Bear A/N : Later updates would be slow. I''m still much inexperienced as a writer. _________________________________________________________________ Let me introduce you to myself. My real life name is Jimmy. I am an average guy with 170 cm height black unkempt hair and black eyes. I¡¯m one of the three founding members of the guild, although it¡¯s not a guild yet for now. As stated before, my character is a stone golem. My skin is stone white with a few cracks here and there and I have a hole for my eye. My posture is pretty much the same as my human self: 170 cm height, black hair and black eyes. The point is, I¡¯m not that similar to a certain member of the fantastic four you might be imagining now. After picking the warrior class, I am now in a full body heavy armor set with helm and all. My stats are fully spent to vit right now, my skills include [Hardened skin] and [nature¡¯s blessing] that increase my defense and regeneration depending on the environment for the passive skills. My active skills include [shield charge] at level 1 just to aid movement and [provoke]. In this game ¡±Ultimate Heroes¡±, tankers are well associated with weight. The vit stat gives weight and my armors also make me heavy although it won¡¯t hinder in normal movement, it just makes me harder to be moved. Now, back to the game! As of right now, we are heading to a cave dungeon. It¡¯s a normal cave on the outside, but that¡¯s not what it is in an MMORPG of course.
You have entered brown bear¡¯s cave
Brown bear is a 2.5 m height lv 10 monster. It attacks with its claws and occasionally fangs. Pudding: ¡°[Meditation], [Blessings]¡± After being buffed, I lured one of them with [provoke] and it started chasing after me. When, it¡¯s close enough I went back a bit, just in range where its scratch would reach me because if back any further, it¡¯d take another step to give a cleaner hit. The claws scratched my shield as I move back. Slashing attacks are very ineffective against tanker if it¡¯s not hitting on your armor gaps and as it only grazed my shield, it gave me a much lowered damage. Its one attack was returned with 1 huge swing of an axe, 1 dagger stab on its eyes, and an arrow in its other eye also a fireball to its mouth when it starts roaring. It had about a third of its HP gone. The bear wont attack anyone but me due to [provoke] and its low intelligence. It now, has impaired vision and numbed arm caused by Rick¡¯s axe that gives me easier time in tanking. The monsters has some kind of primal instinct that tells them a general direction of their enemies though, so it¡¯s still desperately attacking on my general direction even with no eyes. Despite that, the fight became much easier; I continued tanking it while the others attack, aiming on its head and the bear eventually died. All in all, I lost 25% of my HP, but 5% had already regenerated during the fight due to the stone cave accelerating my regeneration rate. Supposedly, this is where pudding would heal me but I stopped her because it¡¯s still fine. Mage¡¯s mana is really important after all. After 3 more bears my HP that should¡¯ve been at 23% filled back to full because we leveled up, we are now level 6. It seems like pudding doesn¡¯t have her role right now. She¡¯s kind of pouting. You might notice the lack of conversation. We aren¡¯t really the type of people that talks a lot, at least during fights. We went at it for 3 more levels. As it turned out, the mages only used leveling up to refill their mana and we haven¡¯t used any of the prepared potion. And we were even supposed to take a rest and eat while letting them regenerate at one point. At this rate, I¡¯m worried that we wouldn¡¯t have a spare time to eat. I was relieved when they ran out of MP on at level 10. To reach level 11 we would need to kill about 70 bears and they ran out of MP at about the 40-something. We stopped to rest and eat. I¡¯m famished! This is behind the schedule! Today¡¯s menu is smoked wolf and bear meat. Stone: ¡°We really should¡¯ve just eaten when it was lunch time.¡± Rick: ¡°We¡¯re only about 2 hours late though?¡± Pudding: ¡°Right? We wouldn¡¯t want to waste potions too.¡± Rando: ¡°But we would¡¯ve already been on the lower floor had we followed the schedule though. ¡° The game¡¯s food are very tasty, the devs knows that us players generally can¡¯t cook, so they made foods to have taste even without seasoning. Lena: ¡°slow down, you¡¯ll choke.¡± Stone: *choke* X( Lena: =_=¡± Like that, the idle chat continues. After that we went to the lower floor, this cave has two levels. This floor is filled with lv13 guard bear that has a helmet and lv15 big bear that is half meter taller. They have the same attack pattern though, so we bulldozed them until we reach lv13 We collect the loot and equipped anything that dropped by the bears in accordance to our class. Now then, time for our real purpose in coming here¡ After some walk we reached a big grey door that is the only man-made structure inside this cave, it still fit the cave well though. Behind this door is a lv 15 boss monster ¡°the supreme-bear¡±. We checked our health and mana and spent the newly given stat points. And prepared health and mana potion in a way we could easily reach. I opened the door after pudding finished with buffing all of us. The others are following closely behind me. Inside is a huge bear, sleeping peacefully. The sound of the door opening awoke it. There¡¯s a blue notification on top of its head.
[Boss]Supreme Bear lv 15
As the supreme bear awaken and looked at us warily we got into position circling the bear. I walked straight slowly, the others broke into a light jog except Rick that sprints to reach our planned position. From the bear¡¯s perspective, I¡¯m at 12 o¡¯clock, Rando the dagger rogue at 2, Saturn the bow rogue at 4, Rick the axe warrior at 6, Lena the DPS mage at 8 and pudding the support mage at 10. While we are getting into position, I slowly walk to his front with a slouched position preparing for its strike. By the time we¡¯re all in position, the supreme bear had stood tall at 3.5 meters looking down on us. [Provoke] Along my skill, the bear roared which begin our fight. At the same time as my provoke, Saturn and Lena started a barrage of arrows and fireballs. With the same trick as with the other bear, the supreme bear scratched my shield that lost me about 20% of my HP which was quickly healed. The same attack only dealt around 6-8% by normal bear when I was level 5. At my current level 13, it would only decrease my HP by less than 2%. If it as much as scratch someone other than me, they would die in 1 hit, other than rick the minotaur that could probably take 2 hits with the right technique. If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it. By the time the bear is done with its attacking motion, Rick is right behind it with his axe held out to his back. He bashed the bear¡¯s side with a half circle swing that caused the bear to roar in anger. The bear did a back kick aiming for Rick that was closely avoided. [Provoke] Bear: ¡°Grrrr¡¡± The bear lift its claws, prompting me to back away to receive it. But the strike did not come! The bear takes another step. It sent a straight punch to give me a cleaner damage, the previous motion was a faint! My current posture won¡¯t allow me to make another step back so I decided to just try to minimize the damage. Stepping a bit to the right, I meet its punch to my shield. I shift my weight a bit and direct its punch to my left. I parried its punch with my shield, but it cost me 40% of my health. While It did struck me hard while exploiting a faint, it shows how focused it is to me, which is the cue to start plan 1. [Blind] Pudding cast a flash of light right in front of the bears eyes. We waited until lv13 especially so that she could take the skill. It panicked and did a random claw at my previous general location. It won¡¯t find me there though, as I was already beyond its hitting range. [Back stab] Rando struck his dagger right into its eyes; he gave a damage bonus for hitting the enemy where it didn¡¯t expect it although he technically struck from the front. During the occasion, I gulped a health potion which brings my health to 75%. Stone: ¡°second round start :9¡± With all the continuous barrage and 1 axe swing and 1 stab, it only had its HP down by 15% while if I die, it¡¯s pretty much party wipe, but this is a good pace. Pudding and Rando broke into a run to switch place, their path protected by me. Now, well just need to repeat that and take its second eye. With its loss of depth perception, tanking became a bit easier. But it became wary of Rando, so much that I had to [provoke] it 3 times so it sent its focus back on me. Eventually, Rando found an opening to stab into its healthy eye. By the time it lost its second eye, it is down to 70% HP while mine at 45% even after heals and potion. For now, my part is done I back away from the fight, Rando takes over agro and avoided all of the bear¡¯s strikes, pudding focus on healing me, the magic and arrow barrage slows down so that agro is kept by Rando and Rick steals some hit time by time. Eventually, the bear is down to 30% HP and activated a certain mechanic. It is now engulfed in a red aura. Everyone backed away and I re-join the fight. A notification pops up on top of it''s head.
-Enrage- 50% more damage and attack speed, 20% less defense
[Provoke] Even with both of its eyes stabbed and blind. The bear right now is moving on a heightened instinct. The previous time Rando aggroed a raged monster during beta test, he couldn¡¯t keep up with its movements even if he could before its rage so we decided that I¡¯ll take back agro when it became enraged. Right now, the bear has a lot of burn mark, about 50 stuck arrows, huge slash marks with blood seething out of it, and tears of blood. It dashing to me on all fours. Stone: ¡°Oy Rick, shouldn¡¯t you have slashed off one of its hands?¡± Rick: ¡°Hey, not everything always goes according to plan~!¡± Rando: ¡°Stone, If you can¡¯t do it, how about we¡¯ll escape now and try again later?¡± What is that, a rhetorical question? Should I answer that? I can¡¯t though, it¡¯s already in front of me and I had to give all of my focus so that I won¡¯t die in 2 hits. At least, the fact that I¡¯m not running away is answer enough. Ah darnnit, this is gonna be rough. At least one of its arm is almost cut off, I could take advantage of that. Was what I was thinking while smiling. The next 5 minutes were a brutal slugfest between me and the bear. Mostly the bear on me though. It became a race of DPS where we had to finish off its remaining 30% HP before it could kill me with my HP being healed constantly. Due to my technique to reduce damage while stepping back, there were times where it cornered me to a wall. When it happens, I broke out of its grasp by shield charging under its arm. We killed it with my HP remaining at 8%, which is 1 hit before I¡¯m dead. At the last moment, Lena gave a huge fireball that gave me an opening to drink a potion so that its next hit won¡¯t kill me. This is a good enough result as we could kill it while being lower leveled that it is. There was also the fact that we didn¡¯t spend our entire SP to take better skill at higher level. I had 12 spent SP and 10 free SP, so we¡¯re not exactly as strong as an optimal lv 13 user. ______________________________ We didn¡¯t get a level from the fight. It¡¯s not what we¡¯re aiming for after all. The Supreme Bear dropped ¡±Supreme Bear¡¯s head¡±, ¡°supreme leather¡±, ¡°supreme claw¡± and ¡°Bear¡¯s helmet¡± . I equipped the helmet and the rest is now in Rando¡¯s bag. We walked back toward the beginner village to meet a certain NPC. Our two crafters are also coming toward us. [(NPC) Guild master]: ¡°what is your purpose in meeting me today adventurers?¡± There should be a list showing a few options in a window in front of Rando right now. Rando: ¡°Create guild, Kill supreme bear, confirm¡± While you could engage in normal conversation with NPC, most of us generally hate conversations and as it seemed the developers understand this and allowed this kind of conversation. Killing the supreme bear is one of some ways to obtain the right to create guild, another way is to just pay a fee to the NPC. Regardless of how unusual it is for adventurers to kill supreme bear at the 1st day after closed beta, the NPC just nodded in a predetermined sequence of actions. [(NPC) Guild Master]: What name would you call upon yourselves adventurers? Rando: ¡°ercse0¡±
You have created the guild ercse0 in which the members include: Rando Stone Rick Saturn Pudding Lena Fifi Stan

I logged off to have a late lunch and other businesses and logged back in. ercse0 was founded by our guild leader Rando when he pushed random key on the keyboard and put 0 after it. That was back when we played PC RPG games. According to Rando himself it spells ¡°ers-zero¡±, don¡¯t ask what language it is. He somehow became attached to it and started giving our guild names ercse0 from that on. Us three, the founding members of the guilds are all in high school. These founding members are me, Rando and pudding. We met the others in a previously played game. They decided to follow us to this game when we announced that we¡¯d switch game and replace the leader position. We are relatively normal highschoolers who¡¯s addicted to games. There¡¯s a reason why we could wield our weapons fluidly though! We were awkward in handling weapons just like all normal highschooler are. This is our first VRMMORPG game, as it is the first VRMMORPG ever released. That reason being during beta test, we met ¡°Grand Master¡± who taught us weapon wielding. Of course he only taught us the basics and the rest is our experience during beta test. Anyway, the reason we choose to make a guild as a priority is so that we¡¯d have access to guild storage because Stan and Fifi can¡¯t indefinitely craft our loots and sell them. We need storage because they don¡¯t have enough bag space too and to dump items when they are off. Another reason is, because some more people are going to join the guild, some of them are online and hunting right now, we¡¯re not partying with them because there¡¯s no field where we could utilize more than 6 people at. Currently, our crafter duo is around the village entrance, so they are tasked to invite the others if one of our members returns to the village. I didn¡¯t mention it but ¡°Ultimate Heroes¡± closed beta was right around the first day of summer holiday so we have a very long time to waste today and right now is 5 pm. So¡. More hunting!!! We¡¯re not going in a group of 6 anymore though. I¡¯ll be with Lena; Saturn, Rick and pudding are together; And Rando soloed. There are some fields where certain classes are useless after all. I¡¯ll say this ahead of time but Lena is a Guy in Real Life, G.I.R.L or as some may say ¡°trap¡±. I¡¯ll say another thing ahead of time; Saturn and pudding are real girls in real life. Darn you Rick. Anyway, Lena is a small creature but with adult figure, she has waist long straight red hair tied in a twin tail and red eyes, beautiful curves and a pair of insect wing sprouting behind her back indicating her race, a fairy. She is a DPS type of mage that relies on fire magic. Lena: ¡°Let¡¯s take a look at the quest board, There should be some quest we could do while grinding in the cemetery¡± Stone: ¡°right¡± So we went to the quest board, took all related quest and continued to the cemetery. The whole reason we split up was so that we farm monsters that are weak to our class. The cemetery is a farming ground filled with zombies, skeletons and bats. The cemetery is rectangular with its perimeter fenced and the one way in is through the gate. The gate is small compared to the vast graveyard. When we reached the cemetery, Lena stood still a distance away from the cemetery in front of the gate, and I went in alone. The monsters start chasing after me. there are lv 18 skeletons and lv 19 zombies that follows slowly after me. The lv 14 bats are already crowding on top of me, scratching on my shield that I held on top of my head like an umbrella. I leisurely walked around the cemetery. All the nearby monsters are following with almost the same speed as I am. Feeling that I¡¯ve pulled enough, I went back to the gate and cast [provoke]. When I almost reach the gate, Lena has one of her hand holding a fireball and another hand held high with one pointing finger, signaling ¡°One¡±, I ready myself. ¡°Two¡± I [shield charge]d towards the gate. ¡°Three¡± Lena¡¯s fireball shot on top of me, it passed me and hit the crowding bat that was just attacking on my shield. The fireball that she used just now was made with larger volume but with lower heat. She made it such that it would hit and burn all of the bats but not killing them instantly. The bats with burnt wing dropped down toward the chasing army of zombies and skeletons and fire spreads among the zombies. I stopped my shield charge right outside of the gate and turned back toward the cemetery. The army of zombies and skeleton are walking toward me with fire spread among them. They eventually reach the gate and attack the shield that I held. The cemetery gate is such that only two person could get in side by side, the monsters that could hit me are at most, three of them while the others are held behind the gate and their own comrades. It¡¯s the 300 sparta tactic but with only 1 person and a cemetery gate instead of a deep valley. Lena prepared another fireball spell and shot it toward the army of zombies and skeleton. The fireball is one of the most basic of mage¡¯s attack spell; it has fast casting and cooldown. Its mana consumption can be altered with the cost of area or heat. It¡¯s practically a fire mage¡¯s normal attack. It is also a skill that you could level up a lot, because there are skills that require high level fireball as its prerequisite. Apparently, she knows a trick to make the fire explode upon contact. When the monsters are hit by the fireball, zombies died quickly because of their weakness against fire. Skeletons are pushed by the explosion to the point it fell on its butt due to their low vitality, but it doesn¡¯t receive much damage. That¡¯s where I come in. I stepped onto the skeleton and it deals enough damage to kill them in 4 steps. With my inflated vitality, I could use my weight to damage the skeleton. My steps are considered blunt damage which is the skeletons weakness. If they are still standing, I used a downward bash onto the skeleton. My hand and mace weight could force them down laying. Then i proceed to step on it. No, it doesn¡¯t make the vit stat OP! Take strength for example, to parry enemy¡¯s attack with your weapon, you would need enough strength to properly push your enemy¡¯s attack away. It¡¯s an example of where strength could be used for defense like how vit could be used to damage. When all of the monsters are dead, I went in for the second time to lure the next batch of monsters while Lena regenerated her MP. Lure and kill, lure and kill. Each pull would consist about 10 monsters of each type. While I¡¯m doing this repeating cycle of farming, let¡¯s talk about a little bit of the game system. Monster levels are some kind of ¡°recommendation¡± to players that ¡°if you want to fight this monster solo, you might want to reach this level first¡±. All of the monsters here in the cemetery have low health and damage compared to their level, and they don¡¯t even have special mechanics to them. What makes them to have their level is that they are very aggressive, to the point that if you attack 1 of them, at least another 4 will attack you too. That¡¯s why you had to have higher stat compared to them if you want to solo them. In return, they gave less EXP compared to other monster of their level. We actually had to kill about 100 of them to level up to lv 14. Their attacks are so weak though, I only need my regeneration and leveling up to keep my HP. After killing about 300 of them, we are now lv 15 and had our bags are filled to the brim with stacks of junks and some equipment. I went back to the village to drop all of these junks in the guild storage. The crafters met us and gave me a new shield, gauntlets and foot armor and a new staff and some accessories for Lena. It seems the crafters only crafted the shield and gauntlets. Rando went back earlier, bringing the foot armor as one of his loots. Some of my loots are also equipment for our other guild members too. I don¡¯t need a new breast and legging armor for now, because the monsters mostly attack my shield and my lv10 armor from the brown bears give me enough weight to hold off the monsters behind the gate. Also, the crafters are working on the lv20 set. Some newbie noticed us and asked to join the guild. Name appears on top of players head and guild name on top of the player¡¯s name. We stated that we¡¯re not open for recruit. The guild member capacity would be full in no time after all. Maybe after the guild has higher level. With empty bags and new equipment we finished the board quest and take some more quests before we went back to the cemetery for more hunts. We¡¯re going to repeat this until lv 20. If you come across this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it. Because it would be a long time before that, let¡¯s talk a bit about our crafter duo. Lily and Stan have different specialty in their field of crafting, but together they could use any kind of material into any kind of in game craft-able item. Fangs, eyeballs, horns, monsters inside, herbs and more are used as alchemy ingredients. With its rate of drop, they could make enough potions to supply us and some more to be sold in a cheaper price compared to NPCs potion. They collect the herbs by themselves, there¡¯s a certain skill required from crafters to gather herb. They also craft equipments, the materials are from the lower leveled equipment that drops that we¡¯re not using anymore. They unwove robes and melt heavy armors to gather the material (because NPCs are cheapskates that won¡¯t buy dropped equipment for a higher price than they sold its material!) Leathers are fine though, because the animal monsters we¡¯ve been hunting drop a lot of those. Sadly, they still lack threads and metals to produce enough armor for all of us. If only we have a silk farmer and a miner, we could make our own inside economy! The members that would join the guild later won¡¯t take that part because it¡¯s boring, way more boring than being a crafter. What they lack, they buy with the money we gave to them through their shop. The shop works as a place where they buy dropped loot and low level equipment and sell potions for a better price compared to the NPC. Although we call it a ¡°shop¡± it¡¯s only a stitched up leathers into a big blanket laid on top of the ground. They put their products on the blanket. There''s also a road sign put near it.
BUYING JUNK LOOT AND EQUIPMENT Selling: Beginner Health Potion: 50c Beginner Mana Potion: 50c Beginner Cure Potion: 1s Beginner STR Potion: 1s Beginner DEX Potion: 1s . . . .
We¡¯re not losing money of course. The NPCs are such a cheapskate that they would sell an item 5 times more expensive than they would buy it. The shop is manned by Fifi the loli elf and it¡¯s selling well! ¡.Or more like, that¡¯s why it¡¯s selling well Fifi has long blonde wavy hair, soft white skin, the elven ears, and slanted eyes like such characters that have their eyes drawn with just a line. She sits in an M sitting position with bare feet on top of the blanket while either stitching something or making potion. Also, the game features the unrealistic anime-ish character design which amplifies her cuteness! Fortunately, she¡¯s a real girl. Anyway, after a long time we¡¯ve went back and forth between town and cemetery for 6 times already, and we are nearing lv 19. But we have a bit of a problem. The boss zombie is now around the gate. This game has a lot of bosses! Each field would spawn a boss and they would revive in at most 1 day after it¡¯s killed. Bosses are usually about 25-50 times the stat of its normal monster counterpart. Which would mean this lv 20 boss is actually weaker compared to the supreme bear, but we can¡¯t kill it with just the two of us, so we let it be when it was far inside the cemetery and just pick on the normal ones. This particular boss is one that roams around its field so we had no problem ignoring it before, but now it¡¯s in just a few meters around the gate. Lena: ¡°Should we call someone? They would take long to reach here, but it would be even longer before it passes this area¡± Stone: ¡±Eh¡ you might not know, but we¡¯re in an unofficial a race to reach lv 20. If we ask for help, we¡¯ll be unofficially disqualified from the race¡± Lena: ¡°I know. It¡¯s what we always do when we split groups. But we won¡¯t be able to kill it without a healer¡± Stone: ¡°Hmmm¡ Can you do that trick you did when we fought the gorillas? We might be able to scrape by¡± Lena: ¡°That? It might fail though? Although I wouldn¡¯t mind trying it¡± She¡¯s giving a feral grin while looking up towards the boss zombie who¡¯s twice my height. Good! It¡¯s no fun when there is no risk at all. We¡¯ll win the race while killing this guy in addition! The other guys would help us regain level if we die anyway. Stone: ¡°Good answer~¡± Lena: ¡°Hey, before we¡¯re doing this. Who do you think would win the race if we kill the boss?¡± Stone: ¡°¡..Probably, Rando¡± Because his hunting ground is so great, although without his skill he won¡¯t be able to take advantage of the hunting ground anyway. Lena: ¡°Thought so¡± Lena stepped up to the gate. She had to be close to the monsters for this plan to work. She¡¯s not close enough to pull any of the zombies, but they would all swarm to her if she attacks one of them. She prepared 2 small fireballs, multi casting is possible but it takes a lot of mana and made it mana inefficient. She shot the fireballs toward one of the normal zombies around the boss. It hit the base of their shoulders and cut off their arms. with her level she could actually kill the zombies in one hit but we need the zombies alive with lessened attacking means. The boss zombie noticed and started walking toward her. She rapidly summoned more pairs of fireballs and shot it towards other zombies to cut off their arms. By the time 3 zombies are arm-less. The boss zombie reached the gate, so I had to [provoke] it so that it won¡¯t disturb Lena, along with the armless zombies near it. Lena continued cutting off other zombies arms while I tank the zombie boss outside of the cemetery, or more accurately, running around backward while blocking its punch to my shield. Remember when I said bosses have 25-50 times normal monsters have? The boss zombie is faster than I am even if I run straight. The normal zombies are chasing after me but without its arms, they can only bite to attack which is far easier to dodge, especially when I¡¯m running away. At the same time, I [provoke] the zombies who are close to Lena, all of them already armless just as planned. Lena stopped when I pulled around 20 armless zombies; I still have 85% of my health remaining. She drank an INT potion and switched target to the boss zombie''s head, throwing concentrated fireballs to its face. Another DPS race! I tanked the boss zombie while drinking potions while Lena kept at shooting fireballs toward the boss zombie. Me:85% - Zombie: 100% Me:71% - Zombie: 90% Me:56% - Zombie: 80% Me:40% - Zombie: 60% Me:18% - Zombie: 50% That¡¯s bad. One of the cleaner hit from the boss cost me 22% HP. Stone: ¡°Lena, Now!¡± Aware of her timing even without the signal, Lena created a bigger fireball, the target is the armless zombies who are trying to keep up with the boss battle. The normal zombies health quickly approach zero as it was already reduced when they had their hands cut off. Another hit from the boss, my health is reduced to 3%. Blood approach the corners of my vision, indicating that I¡¯m in a critical situation. Right on time, the 20 normal armless zombies are all dead, killed by Lena. My EXP that was in the nineties % quickly filled up and reset into 0.02%. [You have leveled up!] Along with the congratulating notification, my health bar went back to full. Phew, that was close. So, now I have 100% HP and the boss is left with 50%, and the minions are all dead even if they don¡¯t do much contribution in damaging me. The rest of the fight was easy. We killed the boss with my health in the 22%, thankfully it didn¡¯t have rage.
Guild Fame +20
Nice! it dropped a rare dagger! Now, Rando will owe us one. I contacted the crafters, because they are currently preparing for our lv 20 set. They don¡¯t need to craft the dagger for Rando, I said. We returned to the village and met Fifi by the entrance. One of our newly joined crafter is also there on top of the blanket. he''s making potion and seems to be absorbed in his work. Rando is there too, looks like he won the race. Fifi: ¡°Already level 20? We¡¯re still seeing some newly created character fighting slimes. Those that logged in right at the opening are mostly still lv 12, excluding our members of course. Wow, look at her hand movement. She¡¯s weaving a robe faster than my eyes could see. She¡¯s not even looking at her work while talking to us. Lena: ¡°well yeah, perkiness of Beta Testers¡± Stone: ¡°Sorry about making you guys craft a lot of equipments in one day¡± Fifi: ¡°its ok~ the next set is at lv 30, it should be a while before that. Enough time to make myself a new dress. Besides, I like doing this role. There a bunch of interesting things happening right here¡± Apparently, some player thought that she is a "Wise NPC that knows the real value of things who gives quests if you have enough intimacy". She is hiding her nickname and guild name on top of her head. She is also wearing a custom made clothing instead of the beginner outfit. One time, someone sold her iron ore that dropped from the lv11 earth elemental. She bought it for twice the price of NPCs and told him that she''d give bonus if he bring more of them. And so they did, that''s how we got most of our iron supplies by the way. How did she have the time to make herself a custom clothing anyway? Rando: ¡°heeey~ where¡¯s the dagger you promised? I was waiting for you to take the class advancement test!¡± Rando is currently laying around on the leather mat, as if bored to death. Being a cat-man race he is, the act suits him. Fifi: ¡°Don¡¯t worry about him, he just arrived not long ago himself :D¡± Rando: ¡°Traitor!¡± Stone: ¡°Here, the dagger¡± Rando: ¡°Thanks thanks¡± After i gave the dagger we split up to take class advancement test. I can¡¯t wear the equipment yet because it¡¯s guard exclusive equipment. So, I¡¯m still in my un-matching leveled equipment. Eventually, I reached the trainer NPC who is a guy with full set of heavy armor folding his arm in front of his chest. Stone: ¡°class advancement, confirm¡± [(NPC) Master Guard]: Young adventurer! You have chosen the path of guard! But before you walk your journey in the path of guard, you must take a test to prove your competence! Do you accept?
You will be transported to a special training room. If you fail in the test or log out during the test you will be sent back and have to take the test again! Please confirm
Stone: ¡°confirm¡± My vision is slowly filled with blinding streaks of light. The light slowly unravels in the same manner of streaks. The same NPC is in front of me, but the surrounding became pitch black with a 10 meters in diameter spotlight shot toward the NPC and me. During the test, the players temporarily became their chosen profession, so I can equip my lv 20 equipment now. Master Guard: ¡°You are to perform a guard only skill ¡°aura¡±, watch as I do it and imitate!¡± As the master guard activated aura, a green half-sphere layer surrounded him it enlarges rapidly until I¡¯m within the range of his aura. As I entered into his aura, information seeps into my brain. It is the information of how to use the aura.
You have gained the skill ¡°Guard''s Aura¡±
Guard''s Aura (Level 1)
Description
By releasing the aura unique to guard''s you are able to aid yourself and your team-mates! You could also transfer some damage on your team-mate onto yourself! Maximum Defense Increase: 50% Maximum Health Increase: 50% Maximum Damage Transition: 30% Diameter Range: 1m-5m Maximum Mana Consumption: 40 MP/s

I¡¯ve already passed the guard test and as such, know how to use aura. I did the same thing as the guard did and passed the first test easily. It feels like having some kind of new sense, I could stretch, expand, thicken or thin it. It just needs a bit of concentration and imagination.
You have passed the first test!
Master Guard: ¡°You have correctly performed ¡°aura¡±. The next test is a test of survival! I wish you luck, adventurer¡± The Master Guard fades into nothingness. Urgh, I was so excited when I had finally able to use aura in beta test. Where did my innocence go? Anyway, the next part of the test is survival test. Let¡¯s get this over with. Out of the darkness, a few monsters fade into existence. They are short green ugly abominations, goblins. They approach me warily, a dagger on their hand. At the same time, a notification pops up
Use your aura to protect the villager for 5 minutes!
As the notification pops up, sobbing sounds came from right behind me. I didn¡¯t turn to look at her though. Her being there is already as expected. I activated the aura and spread it until it engulfs the villager. I could feel objects and movements inside the aura. It¡¯s very useful to counter sneak attack. I activated the aura¡¯s quirk to absorb damage done to the villager by 30%, increase Health and Defense by 20%. After casting [provoke] the goblins chased after me. One of them passed by me and run to the villager. It¡¯s the game mechanics, I can¡¯t provoke it and if I block its path one of the other goblins will attack her. Another game mechanic in play is that the goblins are immune to damage, so I can only block their attack for the whole duration of 5 minutes. The goblins attack to the villager will have 30% of its damage reduced and that 30% of damage is transferred onto my shield. By my rough calculation, the villager will end up with 20% HP remaining by the time 5 minutes ends. Maintaining the aura along with the 2 quirks consciously over a long time is not that easy. You would actually need to stay focused to do it. During beta test I failed this test once.
You have passed the second test!
All of my mana and health are replenished. Along with the notification, the NPC guard voice resounds inside the pitch black room. Master Guard: ¡°Congratulations young adventurer. You have one last test before you become a guard.¡± I idly notice that the way he makes the job ¡°guard¡± sounds grand is weird considering the job name is so lame.
Stand in the center and survive for 10 minutes
I walked to the center of the spotlight, small circle appear beneath my feet. Its diameter is about 1 meter. If I step out of the circle, the timer resets. A humanoid creature fades into existence. Its huge, has muscular body and it¡¯s hairy. It¡¯s a gorilla. I failed this test 3 times during beta test; the problem is that my mana is not enough to fully empower the aura for the whole duration of the test. I tried some of the tanking technique to reduce damage so that I would survive longer while keeping up the aura moderately but it failed. I ended up thinking that I should¡¯ve taken a few wisdom, but sacrificing vit for wis would just decrease my overall defense. Because that¡¯s not how to go about it Currently the Gorilla is charging toward me and I¡¯m not activating my aura. When it is close to me it lifts its axe high and I prepared to meet the hit with my shield and parry the strike. When it¡¯s swung down, I activated the aura in a sudden manner to the maximum defense output which is 50% health and 50% defense. It¡¯s like flexing your muscle suddenly, but the suddenness in aura activating won¡¯t make it mana inefficient. When it finished its attack, I inactivate the aura again. The Minotaur¡¯s attacks are very slow. It¡¯s a perfect practice for someone new to this, although this technique is mostly unused in reality. Anyway, the Minotaur did about 0.5% damage to my health. That¡¯s how OP someone is in defense when you focus in it, my racial bonus helps too. My HP regeneration is at 1% every 10 second, so my health is still slowly decreasing over time. Out of boredom, I tried to predict how much HP my health would be left after 10 minutes. The Minotaur attack hits once about every 4 seconds with 0.5% damage in average. So, that means 10*60*0.5%/4 = 75% of total damage? And 10*60*1%/10 = 60% total regeneration. That¡¯s 15% net damage and would mean i would have about 85% remaining when 10 minutes are over. Enjoying this book? Seek out the original to ensure the author gets credit. ¡¡..And so it¡¯s 83% HP left after 10 minutes.
You have passed the third test!
Master guard reappears. Master Guard: ¡°I congratulate you for finishing the test! I wish that you become someone who protects Azalta in the future¡±
You have gained the class ¡°Guard¡±
I disappeared in streaks of light. Target of the day: accomplished. Having a class won¡¯t give a bonus status. The things that make differences between classes are the skills that the class unlocks, also class restricted equipment. I spent my SP on the newly available skills, Blocking stance and stomp.
Blocking Stance (Level 1)

I took a peek at the time. It¡¯s 10 and I planned to sleep at 11 like I usually do, so I have some free time. I don¡¯t want to do more hunt though. I feel like I would burnout if I hunt anymore today plus we need to regroup all six of us first considering the next planned hunting spot. So I wisped for anyone that had taken class up to come to the village center. And here I am in the village center with Rando and Saturn, the rest are still doing the test. We¡¯re going to PVP! There¡¯s a lot of people still online around, the server include people of all around the world so some of them probably had just woke up in their country. If the starter town isn¡¯t limited to this village, it would be so crowded that you won¡¯t be able to move to a hunting ground after logging in.
Rando challenged you to a duel! Do you accept?
Details: Compensation ON: Your level, stat, skill and equipment will be equalized Stake : -
Stone: ¡°yes¡± When a duel starts a ring of light shot up from the ground around the dueling player, other player won¡¯t be able to interfere the duel even if they are inside the ring. We could just do it in an arena if we wanted to, but it¡¯s more fun this way. The crowd of spectator won¡¯t actually bother us anyway. ¡°Ultimate Heroes¡± is a VRMMORPG where we actually play with our body. The players are naturally more ethical than a usual PC RPG. And PC RPGs don¡¯t even have that many ¡°brats¡± anyway. Instead, some of them are currently surrounding the duel circle right outside the perimeter, intent in watching us. It¡¯s the effect of our equipment, those crafters made it fancy. Anyway, a 3¡..2¡...1 counter shows up in the middle of the ring. We took our stances. I¡¯m slouching and held my mace high up. The only attack that would work with my vit build is a downward swinging, that¡¯s why the weird stance. Cat-Thieves are very incompatible to fight against a golem-tanker. Their attacks are slashing type that aims toward vital area, but the only thing called a vital area in a golem is the golem core that is located at the heart in humans. My core is hidden beneath my new lv 20 guard armor that had extra defense right at that area. Even if he attacks the armor gaps, my body is made of stone, 50% immune to slashing and piercing although twice vulnerable against blunt damage. My eyes are just hollow holes so it doesn¡¯t count as a vital area. This fight is already my win¡. Or is it? Rando: ¡°[Spirit Boost]¡± Stone: ¡°[Guard¡¯s aura], [Blocking stance]¡± Rando shot toward me in a breakneck speed, his build is the type to be the fastest thing in the game with 50% strength and 50% dexterity. Especially during [Spirit Boost], I won¡¯t be able to hit him at all during the buff duration so I used [Blocking Stance]. Thankfully, [Spirit Boost] is a short term, long cool down kind of buff. I just need to defend for the duration. As I defend desperately, Rando hacked at the gaps of my armors. Although it¡¯s reduced to half by my racial feature and more by [Blocking stance] and [Guard¡¯s Aura], it¡¯s still some damage. I kept at holding my shield waiting for my chance. Rando backed down right before [Spirit Boost] is over. I deactivate [Blocking Stance] and prepared for a counter attack. Rando dashed to me and attacked toward my face, I held up my shield while trying to bash it onto him. I didn¡¯t feel the impact on my shield and instead, he hit my knee. It¡¯s a feint. He quickly back before I could hit him with my mace. After that he kept on attacking me and I kept at trying to counter him. doing a shield stance will only make me vulnerable as I can¡¯t counter attack, doing shield charge from this far would only get me countered. Stomp only damage anything beneath my feet. The only thing I could do is to attack him normally. When I thought he is aiming up he attacks below, when I thought its left, its right, when I thought it¡¯s a feint, it¡¯s not. He¡¯s so good at predicting that it actually made me look like the one beaten up. His attacks are mostly ineffective though, I still have about 60% of HP. Some of his skill that hit me in the armor gaps cost me about 10% damage. Until eventually, my shield bash hit him and made him stagger. Gotcha! *evil smile* [Shield charge] I run toward the duel circle while carrying him on the shield and made him hit it. He rebound on the duel circle (The duel circle acts as a wall). Bash, bash, kick and he fell down. [Stomp] he managed to avoid my feet hitting his head but I hit his stomach. Step-step-kick-step but he eventually managed to escape my combo. His posture is still bad right after escaping though. [Shield charge], bash him on a wall and repeat the combo. repeat, repeat, repeat
You win!
Oh don¡¯t mind us. We¡¯re already used to violence. Rando: ¡°I win, because you have less than 60% HP XP¡± I smiled wryly. Can¡¯t deny that, because that¡¯s how OP a tanker is against thief, at least in this game. We did more duels after that with other members joining in. One of the crowds sometimes did a duel against us too. I kept dueling until I went log off to sleep. Before logging off, we got into a coach that travels to the second town. At 11 p.m. I logged out to sleep. Because sleep is important!

Ch5 New Member A/N: Someone: -This is guild chat- _____ I woke up at 5 a.m. by a ringing alarm. Anyway, as per promise to mom that I have to stay fit and keep my grades I am going to morning jog. I wore my training outfit and went down to the first floor. I knocked a door that leads to my little sister¡¯s room. No answer. As expected, she¡¯s still sleeping. I barged in, saw her on top of her bed under a blanket and woke her up with some nudges. Jimmy: ¡°hey, Anne it¡¯s morning¡± She woke up and sat up on her bed, rubbing her eyes while whimpering. I wordlessly exit the room to let her change. That¡¯s Anne, my little sister. Shoulder length black hair and black eyes just like her brother. She¡¯s the player behind ¡°Saturn¡± the archer. She also made the promise to mom. She complained that it¡¯s not fair that only I get to have a capsule. Well, we¡¯re so rich that our parents don¡¯t worry about buying two capsules anyway. But they do worry about our well-being of course. When Anne finished changing, we went outside of the house and start our daily jog. We returned 1 hour later at 6 a.m. and ate breakfast. Now, back to the game! _________________________________ We shimmered into existence right at the center of the town. Because we logged out in the coach heading to the second town, we didn''t have to wait for the 3 hours long travel. There¡¯s Rick, Rando, Lena and 2 other players from our guild, one mercenary and one monk. Pudding¡¯s not here yet. Rick invited me into the party, which I accept. For now we''ll wait for Pudding. After slowly reading the two menus Pudding logged in and we went on our merry way to the hunting ground. We took the board quest first of course. The village is surrounded by a dense forest. This dense forest is filled with monsters that start at lv 20 within the perimeter and increase in level as we go deep into the forest. We''re walking toward the forest while killing lv 20-25 monsters on the way. We''re planning to hunt deeper inside the forest. Once we find the spot, we began casting the shareable buffs. Pudding: [Meditation], [Blessing], [Might] Stone: [Guard''s Aura] Rick: [Battle Howl] Rando: [Spirit Boost] Saturn: [Fatal Eyes] Lena: [En flame] It''s so great that the game doesn''t have a party limit. By the way, the monk doesn¡¯t have a shareable buff but he has a de-buffing skill instead. Stone: [Provoke] I cast the skill in a wide area, all the monsters around us started to gather toward us. They are mostly lv24 Stag beetles, lv26 Mandrakes, lv 30 eagles and our primary target lv28 treants. We don''t have much plan this time around. I tank, DPS attack and Pudding heal. Except the 2 rogues who''s tasked to focus on the mandrakes because mandrakes have magic attack that I''m vulnerable against. Also the sorcerer Lena and archer Saturn focus on the flying eagle if they appear. I also [stomp] the Beetles because they''re short. We''re doing this while walking around the forest to thoroughly clean all of them monsters. When the mob that i pull decreased enough, i did another wide area [provoke]. Rinse and repeat, rinse and repeat, the hunt is endless~ After about 1 hour, someone else from the guild that just reached lv 20 joined the party. After about another hour, the monk logged off because it''s already night in his time zone. The number of party member fluctuates the whole time but the hunt continues. Those that decided to stop hunting would go to the crafters to give wood log that dropped from treants. Out of the corner of my eye, someone appeared walking toward us with a shield and sword. He''s a tanker and one of our guild member. We know he would arrive here as he had contacted us before. It seems he had just finished the Guard Test. (Guild Member): "Heya, thanks for what you guys did last night. I had easier time to get into party." Rick invited him into the party. Tankers and healers are in desperate need to get into parties as they are the hardest class to solo. That''s why we did our PVP in the middle of the village to attract attention, to make our guild a bit more famous. Although the major reason is just because it¡¯s more fun that way. Anyway, the tanker joined the party and pulled the monsters from a different area than me. When we pulled enough, we meet to join the mobs together. Lena has 3 AoE skills, Mercenaries and monks have 1 AoE skill. The gathered mobs die quickly by spammed AoE and the remnants are killed by those that don¡¯t have any AoE skll. A lot of the mobs above lv 20 has AoE attacks so someone else gets damage even though the monsters are only attacking me, but it¡¯s no problem with my [Guard''s Aura] skill and Puddings constant healing. The AoE skills are casted without minding if it would hit other player. There is no damage when a player hit another player but the attack itself might be affected when it hits a player. For example: if Lena shot a fireball toward a monster through me, the fireball will be blocked by me but it won¡¯t damage me. If someone wants to kill a player, he would need to activate ¡°chaos mode¡±. As we hunt in the forest, a boss monster sometimes shows up. We killed all of them no problem though. We also met someone that had hunted there before we did. He accepted our party invitation so there¡¯s no problem. He also accepted the guild invitation which is a good thing. There was another person who didn¡¯t accept the party invitation. When that happens, I controlled [provoke] in such a way that the monsters around him isn¡¯t affected. He got mad though, saying something like ¡°it¡¯s my hunting ground¡± or something. It¡¯s not like he could kill all of the monsters we left before they re-spawned. We ignored him and continued hunting. The guy starts kill stealing from us after that, but we dealt with him. One of us turn into chaos mode and killed him. If he meets an NPC while still having chaos points, we would get some infamy. But chaos points will decrease as time goes and as he kills monsters. Anyway, after 5 hours, 4 levels, 507 stag beetles, 373 Mandrakes, 923 Treants, 597 eagles and 3 bosses, we went back to the town. It helps that the monsters are densely packed all over the forest. Outside of the village, we could see an unfinished structure made of wood. 3 people are working on building it. They are Fifi, Stan and another crafter from our guild. Instead of the leather blanket spread on top of the grassy field, we opted to make a small stall for our shop purposes and we need wood logs that dropped from treants. We''re making a stall on the second town because treants spawn here and we would be here for a long time. Because RPGs are pretty stingy when it comes to houses, mounts, capes etc., wood logs drop rarely from treants even though their body is practically made out of it. Also, we can''t cut a normal tree for that purpose. Nails are made from the left over iron we got from the beginner village. Fortunately, the state of the monster that died won¡¯t affect the dropped item condition so even if they are burned with fire or crushed with axe, the wooden log that drops doesn¡¯t change. We dumped all of the wood logs near the unfinished stall. Stan: "That should be enough! Thanks for the hard work :D¡± Help support creative writers by finding and reading their stories on the original site. With that taken care of, we¡¯re off to more hunting, this time purely for raising level. The hunting ground is the same forest and we¡¯re hunting with the same sort of method but we¡¯re going to go deeper and deeper. Right now, we are within the lv 32-36 monsters area. We¡¯re picking the range of level where we¡¯re constantly in intense battle. With our equipment and party composition, we could fight the mobs that are within 8-12 levels above us. After about 1 hour of hunting, a guild member said something on the guild chat. We always have a guild chat window summoned, the members are constantly chatting about unimportant things so I¡¯ve never mentioned about it. Kur0oO: -Boss, a friend said he wanted to join the guild. You should take a look at her- We already mentioned that we have a small space left to fill for the guild members, so if someone said he wants to recommend another member he should be sure of her ability. But just in case¡ Rando: -I¡¯ll upload a map, go to the appointed place- That appointed place is right here, so we¡¯re just going to continue the hunt while waiting for the guy. Kur0oO: -We¡¯re here, where are you guys?- Kur0oO: -nvm, found you- Kur0oO: ¡°Hey~!¡± As I look toward the source of voice, the two people appeared. The male demon mage which is our guild member; the other is a human sword-woman. Kur0oO: ¡°Boss, this is Tifa. Tifa, that¡¯s boss.¡± Tifa: ¡°W¡Wait a minute! You didn¡¯t say there was going to be a test!¡± Kur0oO: ¡°Don¡¯t worry. It wouldn¡¯t be hard for you¡± Stone: ¡°I¡¯ll just say this ahead of time. We¡¯re looking for strong players for our purposes. If you don¡¯t like a serious guild like we are, then don¡¯t join.¡± She looks startled by my word, but it can¡¯t be helped. We need to make that clear because a crybaby member is troublesome. But then, the look in her face changed. It¡¯s a determined look. Heh, she already passed half the test. It became silent just for a bit before Rando said something. Rando: ¡°Are you going the gladiator route or magic-sword master route?¡± Tifa: ¡°M¡Magic-sword master!¡± Rando: ¡°Okay, for a magic-sword master we need someone who could defeat an Archer 1 on 1 under 5 minutes, and survives a thief for 3 minutes¡± Tifa: ¡°Archer? Isn¡¯t 5 minutes too long for a magic-sword master?¡± Rando: ¡°Now, don¡¯t be conceited! We¡¯re doing it in a forest and the archer is an elf so we extend the time. I¡¯ll warn you now, but don¡¯t underestimate her!¡± Saturn stands up and approached Tifa. Rando climbed on a tree to observe the battle better. The rest of us just sit there. We¡¯re doing the test right here. We¡¯ve just cleaned this part of the forest so it should be fine for 5 minutes. Tifa seemed nervous. We aren¡¯t intending to pressure her at all, but all of us are intent in watching the fight so it¡¯s creepily silent. Plus the fact that she is doing the test while we¡¯re in the middle of hunting made 11 spectators for the duel. _____________ *Tifa¡¯s POV* The archer I am supposed to fight stood up and approached me. Wow, she¡¯s hot. She has bright green shoulder length hair and Bright green eyes, expressionless face and small stature (but not really). She¡¯s like that character that¡¯s involved in a tenta¡. *cough*. I wonder if she¡¯s a real girl. I bet she¡¯s not. Because sadly, real girls don¡¯t play RPG !!! (convinced) *Sniff* A duel request notification was sent to me, which i readily accept. A circle of light spreads away from us. It¡¯s a sword-man vs archer battle so 20 meters diameter is too small for the archer. And this initial distance, I feel like I could cut any archer within 10 seconds even if she ran. As the 3¡2¡.1 counter counts down, I prepared my stance. When it says ¡°GO¡± I activate [Haste] and dashed to her. I can¡¯t give her a chance, I¡¯ll close in on her and when she jumps back I¡¯ll follow up with [slashing wave] Contrary to my expectation, she is not running back toward the trees. She stood there readying her bow. I shouldn¡¯t really care if she attacks now, the defense of sword man is just enough to ignore a few arrows. He said that I should be careful, but my experience tells me that this is where I need to push. As the arrow released, I realized that it¡¯s heading toward my eye. Being startled, I stopped my sprint suddenly, producing skidding sound. It fortunately hit my chest armor. What was that! I was running with [haste] and lowered body but she could aim right onto my eye? If I¡¯m in her perspective, I would only be able to see the top of my helmet! Right after she released the arrow and I stopped my sprinting, she ran away backward toward the trees with short jumps. She hid behind one of the tree. It¡¯s not like I¡¯m an idiot who would walk into an obvious trap, but I had to chase if I want to hit so I chase. I arrived behind the tree that she hid at while taking a parrying stance. I found that as I expected, she is not there. I quickly look around trying to find the nimble elf and found her on top of a tree branch, she shot her readied bow and I blocked it with my sword. [Slashing wave]! I fire my spell in a way that it would cut both her and the branch she¡¯s standing on. And as I expect, she jumps away from the branch and land on another branch. It was the perfect time to fire another [Slashing wave] while she¡¯s midair but it¡¯s on cool down. What to do¡ She¡¯d probably dodge another [slashing wave] in a similar manner. With how many branches there are in this forest, I¡¯d probably waste all of my mana before destroying all of her footing. She shot another arrow as I was mulling. I easily dodge it. While she won¡¯t be able to hit me in this distance, I can¡¯t hit her too. I need to win in under 5 minutes, so that means I¡¯m losing. Okay! I decided! She could avoid me because of her skillful maneuver on branches and mid-air. If, I can¡¯t fight her with the same conditions that would mean I¡¯m weaker than she is. So I climbed on a tree and stood on top of a branch. Sword-man has the lightest type of armor compared to other warriors so the branch could hold. I jump from branch toward branch chasing the archer. The archer¡. Smiled in satisfaction? She kept at shooting me, but now that I¡¯m being extra careful, the arrows met the metal parts of my armor. I mentally prepare myself if she has more tricks up her sleeve. As I got close enough to her, I swung my blade toward her that she avoided with a backflip to other branch while shooting an arrow. Because I¡¯m focusing on defending against the arrow, I didn¡¯t have the time to fire a [slashing wave] before she land on another branch. The fight on top of the braches keeps on for a while. I slash, she dodges, she shot, and I dodge. Some of her arrow hit the leather part of my armor and I lose HP bit by bit. One time, I slipped on a branch as I land on it; I stabbed my sword to the tree and pull myself up to another branch so that I don¡¯t fall to the ground. The fight keeps on for so long; I felt that 5 minutes might¡¯ve passed long ago. I didn¡¯t mind even if it did though, I¡¯d love to keep on the fight for as long as possible. Nah, I need to finish this fast if I want to join the guild! I finally take risk in chasing her. When she did the backflip shot, I jump toward her. The arrow she shot approach my head, I turned my head to the right and meet her arrow on my helmet. In this position I can¡¯t see her, but I know she¡¯s in front of me. I didn¡¯t hesitate. I hit her side midair and sent her toward the ground. Afraid that she would have time to recover before I land, I sent a [slashing wave] downward while falling toward her. After the [slashing wave] I positioned my sword to point downward in a way that it will stab her head as I land. *stab* She¡¯s still alive after only 3 hits of course. The game made PVPing players have more HP so that PVP would last long. because with the usual stats, some could die in one hit. *slash* *slash* *stab* *stab*
You Win
M¡My HP! It was 40% left!? It refilled back fully immediately after that though. She disappeared and then reappeared beside the former corpse. I wanted to say ¡°are you alright?¡± but that would probably come out into more of an insult instead of helping. Saturn: ¡°Ehehehe¡ You¡¯re strong! Beat Rando for me if you can okay?¡± After that, the ¡°boss¡± guy jump down out of nowhere and congratulate me. Rando: ¡°That¡¯s 4:23 you passed the first test!¡± Oh right! I also need to survive a thief for 3 minutes¡. Rando: ¡°I¡¯ll be your next opponent ^_^¡± . ... ...... ¡¡¡¡¡.A few minutes later. Rando: ¡°That¡¯s 3 minutes. You passed~ welcome to ercse0!¡±
Your are invited into ercse0! do you accept?
D¡Damn there¡¯s 5% left for my HP. He held back didn¡¯t he? Did he really hold back? I don¡¯t know. Tifa: ¡°Accept" Rando: -Say hello to Tifa! She¡¯s a new member!- (Guild member): -Hello!- (Guild member): -Yay! New member!- (Guild member): -That¡¯s fast. It¡¯s only been the 2nd day- (Guild member): -Hello Tifa!- (Guild member): -R U real girl?- (Guild member): -Hello!- (Guild member): -Congrat¡¯s for surviving Rando- (Guild member): -Hi Tifa!- .. . . As I look at the chat box overwhelmed, I know I¡¯ve just joined a great guild. I should thank Kur0oO later.

Ch6 That... ...Guy A/N : [This is private message/wisp] My exams starts just today, so the updates would probably slow down even more :( Writing a chapter without fighting is hard >_< ________________________ *Fifi¡¯s POV* Fifi: ¡°Phew~¡¡ Let¡¯s stop for now.¡± Stan: ¡°I¡¯ll be heading to the town¡¯s forge then.¡± Fifi: ¡°Alright! We¡¯ll continue again in 4 hours.¡± Stan left through the town¡¯s entrance while waving his hand. Salvotor: ¡°I know it¡¯s late to ask but, is it really alright, building something here?¡± Fifi: ¡°Weird right? We built the stall a bit far away during BT, but other guild who built it near town didn¡¯t have any problem. It seems like as long as it¡¯s not inside the town it¡¯s OK.¡± Salvotor: ¡°Well if that¡¯s so, then OK¡ ¡± Fifi: ¡°For now, make more of the concoctions please.¡± Salvotor: ¡°Why? We¡¯re not going to finish the stall first?¡± Fifi: ¡°No. We¡¯re only building it this much for now to mark the spot. It¡¯s because other guilds would want to make their base near a town.¡± Salvotor: ¡°Ok, I¡¯ll go ahead and get my kit then.¡± Fifi: ¡°Should I help?¡± Salvotor: ¡°Nah, there are things I need to practice alone. Thanks for the offer.¡± Fifi: ¡°Hehe, thanks. I¡¯m going to do a last check on the supply before continuing my unfinished dress then.¡± I took a seat and took my sewing kit. Salvator is also getting to work too. Salvotor: ¡°You were serious about the dress? Aren¡¯t you tired from all the work?¡± Fifi: ¡°Why, no? I enjoy crafting and there¡¯s no stamina bar in this game. Didn¡¯t you pick the class because you like crafting too?¡± Salvotor: ¡°I do enjoy it as a hobby. I actually started playing this game because there¡¯s realistic crafting feature. You¡¯re in an entirely different level though. It¡¯s like you¡¯re a professional. I kinda joined the guild because you already took monopoly in the first town, but now that I joined, I feel like I¡¯m just dragging you down.¡± I noticed that as he talked, his voice became more and more depressed. He also muttered something unrecognizable at the end. Because of the scarcity of crafters, we took in anyone who¡¯s not ¡°troublesome in behavior¡± to our guild. I¡¯m currently tutoring him into an alchemist. He¡¯s actually quite good, but it seems he lacks confidence? Should I say ¡°you¡¯re actually quite good yourself¡±? Will he get conceited? I feel like he would just silently disagree while nodding. Alright! I¡¯m a senior now! Let¡¯s say something senior-like. Fifi: ¡°Salvotor, do you like drawing?¡± Salvotor: ¡°¡? No?¡± Fifi: ¡°You see, one of my friends is a great artist. He draws intricate stuff with pencil and his drawing is super great! One time, I asked him how he draws so well¡± Salvotor: ¡°¡And?¡± Fifi: ¡°He said that you just need to draw again and again. If you draw a wrong line, just draw more until its right. Draw until your fingers remember how to make the right line. You just need to keep the image you want to draw in your mind¡ ¡. It was only one of our random talks, but it¡¯s like I heard ¡°keep your vision into the future, keep repeating something until you got it right, do another thing and repeat until you got it right. Keep it up, and you¡¯d have that completed image on your canvas¡±¡± Salvotor: ¡°¡¡That actually sounds like you¡¯re trying to overwork me?¡± W¡Wait! No! That¡¯s not what I mean! Salvotor: ¡°Pft¡ hahahaha! No, no, I get what you mean. Thanks for the words.¡± That was embarrassing! I am never going to do that again! Now I wonder if he was really depressed about crafting. Did I just say something completely irrelevant? Oh, well it already happened. I¡¯ll just continue on making the dress now. Oh right, I heard we got a new sword-man? That particular class is so popular we were supposed to hold back in recruiting one. For her to impress Rando that much, it seems like we got another talent in the guild. Oh look, she¡¯s on the chat. (Guild Member): -When are we going to do the ¡°cat quest¡±?- Pudding: -When all of us are here- (Guild Member): -Wait for us please Q_Q we¡¯re still on the carriage- (Guild Member): -Relax dude, I was just asking- Tifa: -Excuse me, what¡¯s this ¡°cat quest¡±?- Fifi: -It¡¯s a guild quest. We¡¯re going to need our entire fighters to do it- Tifa: -More explanation please?- Fifi: -Like, the entire quest background and procedure? ¨C Tifa: -Yes?- Fifi: -We¡¯ll do a briefing later to explain about the quest in detail ¨C Tifa: -Then just the rewards?- Fifi: -The reward is a pet cat that grows according to the guild level - Tifa: -And what does the cat do?- Fifi: -it gives AGI buff ¨C Tifa: -Okay! But that sounds so unrewarding though?- Curious, I started a wisp to Kur0oO, the person who recommended Tifa to us. Fifi: [Kuro, how did you meet Tifa?] Kur0oO: [She¡¯s someone I know in real life] Fifi: [Was she a beta tester too?] Kur0oO: [No, but she learn sword fighting IRL] Fifi: [How much RPG has she played, generally?] Kur0oO: [a little. I kinda dragged her to this game xP] Fifi: [lol, I see] You see, the ¡°cat quest¡± is one of the famous 5 ¡°sacred animals¡± quest set. Almost all guilds in the game would know about it. There are a lot of videos about the quest online. The quest is the easiest of guild quests so a lot of guilds do this quest as soon as possible. But despite the quest being the easiest, considering the reward which is an almost permanent and significant buff for the whole guild member, it has accordingly challenging difficulty. These animals also grow and give stronger buff as it grows. For some people, the bonus stat is the primary reason to join a guild. If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, it''s taken without the author''s consent. Report it. And more generally speaking, it¡¯s hard to get pets in other MMORPG. That¡¯s why it¡¯s weird for someone to not know the existence of the quest or think that the quest is unrewarding. Anyway, I looked at the guild chat again. Pudding: -How long until you guys reach the town? - (Guild Member): -30 minutes - Pudding: -Okay, go to the stall when you guys arrive. - Pudding: -We¡¯ll do the briefing there. - Pudding: -It¡¯s just in time so we¡¯ll have lunch too- ¡¡¡¡..30 minutes later~ *Stone¡¯s POV* We went back from hunting in preparation to do a guild quest and to eat lunch. When I arrived at the stall, the guys who just reached lv 20 are already there, chatting. Now that we¡¯re complete, we¡¯re ready to take on the ¡°cat quest¡±. Of course, not our entire guild is going to do the quest. We mentioned that some of us are from different countries. We chose one time of the day where most of us are online. The total members who are going to do the quest are 18 players. For now, we¡¯ll have lunch together while briefing the quest procedure. The game has ¡°satisfaction¡± bar that had to be filled by eating food. If it¡¯s gone down low enough, some of our stats would decrease. The food is monsters meat cooked over camping fire. While holding a monster meat, Pudding stood up. She¡¯s going to do the briefing while munching. Because I still remember the quest procedure, I¡¯m just going to open an internet browser window while eating. Rando stood up and leave early after a quick meal. He is going to take the quest from the town¡¯s elder. He didn¡¯t take the quest earlier because we need a quest item that dropped from one of the boss in the forest. After some time of explanation, pudding stopped talking abruptly in the middle of explaining. Wondering what happened, I look to the side. There¡¯s a person looking at us from inside the town. He¡¯s the guy we killed when hunting earlier. We can¡¯t PK in towns because if an NPC saw us, we would get infamy. But it¡¯s not like we¡¯re actually going to kill him again when there is no reason. He could just pass by us and continue hunting, but it seems he¡¯s having a grudge? Pudding noticed that and continued the explanation on guild chat. It seems it¡¯s already too late though? If he caught the idea what quest we¡¯re going to do, then he would know where to find us. We completely understand he¡¯s angry and all, but it¡¯s not like we¡¯re going to delay the quest just because one person is going to disturb us. For now, we¡¯ll just keep an eye on him. We don¡¯t want to kill someone for practically no reason; it¡¯s one of our principles. Hmm¡. it might be trouble if he brings a lot more people though? He is the only one we killed during whole hunt and he won¡¯t pose any problem alone. If he actually though up some plan, we¡¯ll seriously deal with him and delay the quest a bit. After a while with pudding explaining on the guild chat, a notification pops up. The notification says that Rando has accepted the quest. Okay~ When the notification pops up, we all stood up in unison. We¡¯re going ahead and just let Rando follow later. If that guy went and attacked Rando, it would be his loss anyway. When we leave the town, the guy just stood there by the gate unmoving. Several minutes later, Rando said the guy followed us when we¡¯re already out of sight; it seems like he knows our destination. He¡¯s alone, so we will kill him and go on with the quest. The quest is quite far from town, it took 2 hours of walking while killing the monsters on the way. As the guy follows us from a distance, Rando stalked behind him. They didn¡¯t fight the monsters because they could stealthily pass by them. We eventually reached the destination. According to Rando, the guy is behind a tree near us. Now that we¡¯re this far inside the forest it¡¯s fine to kill him. Rando turned into chaos mode and did a [back-stab] to his eye and proceed to kill him. We can¡¯t kill him near the town because if he died near town and revive there, he would still have time to catch up to us. It is entirely possible that he would attack us from behind when we fight the last boss. It is also possible that he would go and kill steal the last boss from us. We had no choice but to kill him. Rando who just killed the guy appeared from behind a tree. His nickname is red. Tifa looked quite frightened by the sight. It seems that PKer is still an infamous term. Now that the problem is taken care of, we proceed with the quest. We went a little ahead and met the quest¡¯s second NPC. The NPC is a pure white lion that shine with radiant light. Because Rando is still in PK mode, Pudding talked to the NPC. Pudding: ¡°Quest, [[GQ] Corrupted Beast Soul]¡± There was a notification that says the quest advanced, but we just ignore and dismiss it. The lion said something that we also ignore and moved closer to us. It gives some kind of 5 hours buff that was needed to damage the last boss. It moves away and revealed a downstairs that was behind him. While he was talking about something, we went ahead and go down the stairs. Down the stairs is an underground dungeon which is the place of quest. We¡¯re in a familiar temple-like corridor that has 4 person¡¯s shoulder length widths. 5 hours is the time limit to complete the quest

Ch7 Agility Cat A/N:If you didn¡¯t notice, the crafters have increased to 5 (because 3 are too unreasonably small). The party in this quest is also reduced to 18 players (I¡¯m so indecisive >_<) Agility is the same as dexterity in my mind so I might mix them up. _________ A crowd of possessed rabbits rush toward us. From this distance, the crowd looked like a sea of white pouring out from the corridor in front of us. I and another tanker took our position. I¡¯m by the left side of the corridor while the other took the right side; we¡¯re making a gate to let the rabbits pass by the gap between us. We also use the guard¡¯s aura and blocking stance to increase our defense. Behind us are the melee DPS-es that attacks the stream of rabbits that passes us with simple repeated downward swing. The rabbits are chopped up like we¡¯re some potato mashing factory. Behind those melee DPS-es are the clerics that heals if anyone got their health low enough. The rabbits are actually above our level so if they hit us, it hurt a bit. And finally, behind those clerics are the sorcerers and archers, shooting colorful spells and arrows toward the center of the enemy¡¯s crowd. The sea of rabbits is rapidly processed into stream of light and dropped japtems. Tifa: ¡°This feels like I¡¯m some part of a meat processing machine.¡± (Guild Member): ¡°Welcome to party farming.¡± Tifa: ¡°Is this actually the right way to play the game all along? I don¡¯t think I¡¯ve ever killed more than I did just now.¡± (Guild Member): ¡°Nah, this only works in corridors. Luckily, most of the dungeon is a corridor.¡± With the endless stream of rabbits going against us, we¡¯re walking forward slowly. After walking for a while, we found a blue portal in which the rabbits are spawned from along with a lever right beside it. We turned the lever near and the portal deactivated. Rabbits stop coming from that portal after that. We proceed and deactivated more portals that are separated by about 10 meters. We kept at pulling the levers one by one while walking through the stream of rabbits. The more levers we pull, the less rabbits came rushing at us. We deactivated a total of 10 portals before the rabbits are all killed. Pudding: ¡°Finally~ I felt bad killing all those creatures T_T¡± (Guild Member): ¡°It was good exp flood though :/¡± We went and searched the stairs to the second floor. Because the labyrinth is reset after each try on it, we can¡¯t use the old map. We found stairs with a magic treasure box beside it. The treasure box is a reward for deactivating all of the portals. I opened the treasure box and retrieve a magic grade enhance stone. There was the option to go ahead to second floor while ignoring the streams of rabbits too. But we won¡¯t get the treasure boxes. Dungeon monsters can¡¯t go through the stairs because some kind of magical barrier prevents them, so it¡¯s actually fine to ignore them. Anyway, we are now in the second floor. The second floor is completed by splitting up and activate 5 crystal. We activated the crystal at the same time using guild chat as the signal. We didn¡¯t fight the monsters guarding the crystal by luring them away and have another person activate it by touching it for 10 seconds. When all the crystal are activated, the floor cleared and all the monsters are gone. A treasure box appeared again and it had magic grade crafting materials inside. Onto the third floor. The moment we entered the third floor, Saturn stopped us and said it¡¯s a trap floor. She triggered a trap right in front of me by throwing a weight at it. The floor under the weight clanked and revealed a hole under it. There are spikes inside the hole. Damn, I almost got caught. The trap was right in front of the stair so I wasn¡¯t cautious at it. After the hole revealed she pulled a rope that was tied to the weight to retrieve the weight. The leading player switched, all the rogues are in the front while the rest of us follow. When monsters pop up, we lure it instead of attacking because there might be traps around it. Most of the traps are triggered with weights and arrows so there¡¯s no problem. There are a lot of treasure chest in this floor, but most of them are mimics. There¡¯s no problem with mimics though, if you shoot it with an arrow it would attack you so we shot every treasure chest we found on the floor. Sadly, there¡¯s only one treasure chest in every floor. Onto the fourth floor The fourth floor is a simple corridor labyrinth with a lot of monsters. We¡¯ll have to kill all of the monsters in the floor to get a chest. Of course we could also skip the chest, but we still have enough time to get it. The monsters here are huge, unlike the first floor of small rabbits. There¡¯s gorilla, rune tigers, were-cat mages and were-cat clerics. Because the monsters at this floor are elite monsters at level 33+ we need to pull and kill them 1 by 1. To do that, we¡¯re hiding behind a corridor turn and prepared a little trap. A sword-man is assigned to hide near the ceiling using the slight protrusion out of the walls near the ceiling as a footing. I peek at the corridor from behind a corner. I used [provoke] on the monster closest to us which is a gorilla. The gorilla turned its head suspicious, but then approached the corner where we hid at. I gave the signal to the party and backed away from the corner. When it turned and saw us the sword-man jumped down while positioning his sword onto the gorilla¡¯s neck. The sword stabbed accurately and the sword-man backed away immediately after the strike. The Gorilla flailed frantically as the scream it¡¯s supposed to shout is dampened by the damage on his throat. I gave the gorilla a [provoke] and it obediently dashed toward me. I and another tanker quickly activated [Guard¡¯s Aura] and [Blocking Stance]. We slowly back down as he hit both of us which disperse the damage between us. While the gorilla is attacking us, it is hit by all the 13 DPSes at once which kills it very quickly despite our level difference. When the gorilla dies, the sword-men stick back to the ceiling and we repeat it to other monsters By the way, cat mages could attack the ceilings and rune tigers could jump up to the ceilings so we can¡¯t make the ranged DPS stick there and attack from above. We kept at repeating this over and over against the monsters. We would sometime miss the throat and the monsters scream which called upon other monsters, when that happens we would lose more HP and MP in the fight but it¡¯s not much of a problem. Rune tigers are quick and fierce monster, but we could push it toward a corner with [Blocking Stance]. The clerics are easy kill if it¡¯s alone, if we happen to fight it with other monsters we would kill it as first priority. We treat the mage the same way as the cleric. We also run into a large rectangular room. When we run into those, I would [provoke] them into the corridor and we would fight there. We eventually found the corridor that leads to the next floor, but as we planned we are going to aim for the treasure chest by killing all of the monsters in the floor. We carefully mapped the labyrinth and thoroughly cleaned the monsters within the floor. The treasure chest appeared when all of the monsters died. The chest that we got contained a magic grade crafting material. Ensure your favorite authors get the support they deserve. Read this novel on Royal Road. By the way, when we move to the next floor, the previous floor would reset and monsters would re-spawn. This means that the guy who we PK-ed needs to do the labyrinth from the first floor if he wants to reach us and it also means that we can¡¯t get out of this labyrinth unless we clear it or go back upstairs while clearing the labyrinth again. Within the 3 hours of 4 floors labyrinth, I got my level up by 3. I¡¯m level 27 now. With that done, we¡¯re heading to the fifth floor, the boss floor. We reapplied the buffs before heading down the stairs, including [shield] the new buff pudding just got after leveling up. We also drank the stat potions.
[Raid Boss]Corrupted Prince of the Jungle level 35
Despite the opponent¡¯s high level, we came here prepared with consumable items to balance the fight. While I¡¯m still on the stair down, I charged into the boss room. The boss awakens and started to dash toward me. The boss is a huge cat, the size of a tiger. This boss is an agility type boss. It¡¯s super quick but the damage is not as great as the strength type boss, it only has about the same strength as a lv 50 mercenary. The tankers [provoke] the boss with healers by our side. The ice sorcerer spammed her ice spells, the monk used [Palm Strike] that induce [Numb], Kur0oO the evil cleric used [curse], [entangle] and [cowardice]. These de-buffs would decrease the boss speed and stats. The others went separate way into the corner of the boss room to set up our traps. Despite the stacked de-buff, the boss is still very fast. I had to struggle to block its attacks with my shield even when I know its attack pattern. Dodging just doesn¡¯t work when fighting 1 vs 1 against agility bosses, unless someone have at least twice its level and fully spent their stat on agility. One reason I could defend against its attack is because of my inflated vitality. Normal players would usually distribute their stats into 2 or 3 different statuses. So, I would roughly have twice the vitality stat compared to normal players. That means I have about the same vitality as a lv 50 normal players that distribute half their stat into vitality. My defensive passive and active skills, and the [Shield] buff makes my defense even tougher. When my health got low enough, the other tanker would [provoke] and we switched tanking. The healers used [Heal] on whoever got his health lower and they would also cast [Area Heal] on both of us continuously. Despite having 2 tankers and 2 healers, our health are slowly but surely drained. But thankfully, the setup for the plan didn¡¯t take long. The explosives and the sword-man are set. I lured the boss into the corner where we set up the explosives while the boss kept on scratching my shield. Right now, that corner is behind me and the boss is in front of me. The rest of the guild is behind the boss. Rando: [Spirit Boost] Timing¡. Timing¡¡¡¡.. After some scratching attacks, it did a different kind of attack. It lowered itself, readying to lunge toward me. There! The instant the boss lunged toward me, I quickly shield charged while ducking underneath the boss to pass by it. In that same instant, all of our DPS-es attacked at the boss butt with their strongest skills, pushing the boss toward the pile of explosives. This would be impossible without the speed buff from [Spirit Boost]. Some of us got the timing a bit wrong though, just the usual mistake. The cat is engulfed by explosions and caused it to lift up. At the same time, the sword-men who stuck on the ceilings dropped down and tried to pierce the boss¡¯s vital parts. The goal this time is to inject the boss with bad status inducing poisons coated by the sword blade. The swords cut the flesh, but it doesn¡¯t reach the vital parts. It would still induce the poison of course. The poisons and explosives are crafted item by the way. It induce [slow], [weak] and [brittle]. That went well. In boss battles, status de-buff has as serious effect as buffs are. De-buffs are as if the shadow that would look darker as the light (Buffs) brightens. With our status heightened and the boss¡¯s status lowered, we could properly fight it. [Freeze], [Numb], [curse], [entangle], [cowardice], [slow], [weak] and [brittle].We¡¯re going to exploit its status de-buff to the extreme. The tankers hold the boss into a corner so that it won¡¯t move freely. It¡¯s hard because of the boss¡¯s tenacity, agility and original speed, but 2 tankers could do the job. Its attacks are still deadly too but with 2 healers, we could hold on. Sword-man, Thieves and Archers went and attacked its eyes. It needs a lot of tries because of the cat¡¯s nimble-ness and speed, but it¡¯s doable nonetheless. After that, they rapidly hacked at its jaw aiming to amputate the part. Attacking boss¡¯s eyes became one of our habits now. The 3 thieves also alternate in giving [Spirit Boost] so that we could keep up with the boss¡¯s speed. When the cat attacks me with a front paw shove, I counter attack by nailing its paw with [stomp]. When the paw gets pinned, the Mercenaries and monks attack the base of its left front leg continuously. I can¡¯t nail it for too long though, it¡¯s a boss after all. The sorcerers who can¡¯t do much precision attacks just bombarded the boss with their spells. So as to not nullify their own spells, fire mage attack the boss¡¯s back and head while the ice mage generally attack its belly and limbs. The boss would only need 1 strike to kill the non-tankers but with the constant provoke and careful attacks by the melee, its attack only reach the tankers. Before the poisons wore out, it¡¯s blind and its jaw is almost chopped, it had the left front leg cut off by a third. Because its jaw is almost chopped, one of our thieves daringly attacked its jaw but was returned with claws to his death. He died but he successfully chopped its jaw¡ ¡..There goes our perfect score With a lot of its flesh bleeding, it was easier to reapply the poison so we did just that. The battle continued in the same manner for more than 1 hour, we consumed quite a number of potions. Tifa who was unaccustomed to prolonged fight looked tired. After two left limbs are cut off, it can¡¯t stand up no more. It¡¯s blind and it can¡¯t even bite with only its upper jaw. There¡¯s its tail it could use as a whip but it can¡¯t reach the guys who are hacking the cat¡¯s head. The boss cat dies :( But then, it was enveloped in light. The light shrinks until it¡¯s the size of a normal cat. The light dissipates, leaving a sleeping normal sized cat behind :) (and lots of monster drops).

Ch8 Our Daily Activity The fight with the boss increased our guild exp and made guild level increase. After the fight, we went back to the stall to put back the cat there. We give our loots to Fifi. The dropped items don¡¯t include equipment but we got a lot of materials. Things like [Prince of the Jungle Fur], [Prince of the Jungle Fangs] ect, Basically its body parts. We also got some magic grade ore from one of the treasure boxes. From this moment on, crafters would prioritize making magic grade equipment or above. I went to take a carriage to a different town immediately after that. It was still 8 p.m. but I logout and went to sleep, Saturn is still playing. I¡¯m already used to wrecking my biological clock so it¡¯s easy. . . . . I was woken up at 1 a.m. by an alarm and quickly log in into the game. It¡¯s fine as long as I¡¯m not sleepy during the game. I am now in another town in a canyon. This town is also a second town if you start the game from a different starting town. I forgot their exact name so let¡¯s call this town the ¡°canyon town¡± and the town with our stall the ¡°forest town¡± from now on to make this easier. When I log on, I meet the rest of the guild. They are the guys who played at night (in my time zone perspective). We¡¯re going to do another ¡°sacred beast¡± quest. Because this particular beast needs more than 2 tankers, we planned on how to make our entire tankers log on the same time. The other tanker who participated in the cat hunt is also here, it makes a total of 4 tankers including one newly joined member. We waited only for a bit to wait for the rest to log on. When everyone logged on, we immediately went to the spot of quest. There are 17 of us, 5 of us are someone who also played in the cat quest. This time, there are no thieves and sword-men on the party. The quest has pretty much the same procedure. 5 hours limit, a long way to the boss, the boss. We finished the quest after getting all the 5 treasure chests and killing the boss. I got my level up to 29. That¡¯s 2 of the 5 animal quests finished, we got the strength type ¡°Desert Bighorn Sheep¡± this time. The 3rd beast would be done by the ¡°morning team¡±. That one is the intelligent type boss where physical tankers would be useless. Anyway, now that we¡¯ve finished our task here, we¡¯ll do other good quests in the canyon town. In this game, some quests are repeatable while others are not. The sacred animal quest set is actually repeatable, but we¡¯re rushing the quest because the earlier we get them the faster our guild would grow. Well, but even if that is so we¡¯re not really in much of a rush for the quest set, that¡¯s why we¡¯re going to do other quest right now. Also, according to our plan, the morning team would be in a carriage going to the ¡°grass plain town¡±. Some of our mages would be there to fight the boss; we need all of those mages to fight our next target, the vit type boss. Even though I said that we put the unrepeatable quest at less priority, we had actually taken all of those quests that don¡¯t have a time limit (which is, almost all of them). We don¡¯t want the quest we already know to be taken by other people of course. By the way, we also did this in the forest town although we didn¡¯t get any equipment for guard. For now, we¡¯ll do the unrepeatable quests that has a time limit. There are ¡°kill the necromancer¡± and ¡°get medicine ingredient¡± quest. Unfortunately, ¡°kill the necromancer¡± is already taken by someone else so we¡¯ll go ahead with the other quest. The quest we take is to get some kind of grass which is an ingredient for a medicine. The quest giver is something like an alchemist master who needs to cure his daughter. The alchemist can¡¯t pick up the ingredient because of some pack coyotes that live around it. The party that would do this quest consisted of 2 players. The others are doing different quests. I¡¯m just going to lure the monsters away and have the other person pick the grass real quick and run away to finish the quest. Alchemist master: ¡°Oh, thank you! Thank you adventurers! I owe you the greatest of debts! Just speak what you need! Be it gold, my secret potions or¡..¡± Stone: ¡°Potions recipe¡± Alchemist master: ¡°¡¡¡¡¡.¡¡.Very well¡. This potion recipe is one of my most¡¡.¡± Ah¡.. This would take long. After that, we went around town finishing other quests. We get quest according to what our class is so they¡¯re mostly easy to the ones doing them, each quest would approximately take 4 members. When all the quests are completed, we went into dungeons to level up while looting treasures repeatedly. The quests I took reward me with the potion recipe, rare sword, magic grade wand, magic grade gloves, some crafting material and some enhance ingredient. A lot of them are not something I use, so I gave them to other players from the guild. In return, I got a lot of items I could use from other members. Let¡¯s see¡ I got magic grade glove and magic grade shield; I had to share with other tankers too after all. We also had a few recruitments. The moment someone know that we are already working on a guild quest this early, a lot would gather to ask to join. If that someone is already above level 32, we would just recruit him without a test. Someone being already high leveled this early in the game means that he already have enough skill or he know a lot of tricks to level up. Either way, it¡¯s beneficial to us. If he turns out a problem, we could just kick him anyway. It¡¯s not like there¡¯s that many people who had reached level 32 this early too, there¡¯s only two person that joined that way. You might be reading a pirated copy. Look for the official release to support the author. When someone doesn¡¯t have that level, we would test him. Because we don¡¯t have a thief to test the sword-man this time, guards would test them. Being able to strike armor gaps well is also a skill we¡¯re looking for. In particular, I¡¯ve tested a sword-man, 2 thieves, 2 sorcerers, a healer and a monk. Out of those people, only a sorcerer and a healer passed the test. Most melee DPS would obviously aim for the armor gap, but striking it is a whole different problem. After all, I only need to move a few millimeters so that he would miss the gap and hit the armor. The sorcerers had to kill me within 5 minutes. I owned the first guy so bad because he got cocky, the second guy did well to predict and dodge my sudden [Shield Charge] and saving up his mana when I went [Blocking Stance]. The healers only need to have a supportive build to be accepted. Some healers are pseudo DPS-Healer which are not really that useful in group battle. If someone like that applied, we would need to test his PVP-ing skills. In total, we got 5 new members today. That day, the ¡°morning team¡± also picked the dolphin of intelligence that shoots freezing bullets everywhere in a different town. To kill it, they had to abuse [Spirit Boost] and [Haste] to dodge the bullets and reach the boss. The next day is done in a similar way, the carriage, the harbor town, the sacred animal, the other quests and the guild test. We had the sorcerers and monks concentrated here to kill the vitality turtle. All the fireworks bombarded into its head were a spectacle. I got a rare helmet later from the small quests. We got 3 new members that day. Later that day, the owl of wisdom was get too. Now that we got all the sacred animal set, we set back to the forest town in a carriage while sleeping. I slept at 11 p.m. again to return to my sleeping habit. That was a total of 2 days away from the forest town. After waking up and doing my morning routine, I log back to the game. A small wooden stall was right outside the village entrance. There¡¯s also another one in the middle of construction that¡¯s not ours too. On the stall was a soundly sleeping cat of agility, the prince of the jungle. Fifi is sitting there, tutoring someone in potion making. There¡¯s also the goat of strength, turtle of vitality, dolphin of intelligence and owl of wisdom. There¡¯s a small pool by the stall¡¯s side for the turtle and dolphin. It¡¯s already a miniature zoo. When we got the animals for the first time, they would be a level 1 that gives [1% + 5] of the stats. The buffs are increased by 50% for a bonus of having the complete set. To get these buffs, you need to pet the respective animals. Petting will also increase its exp which would in turn increase its level. Petting them when you¡¯re still affected by the buff will not increase its exp. The buff lasts for 4 hours. We¡¯re also allowing non-members to pet them if they pay a small charge. The charge is negligible, but everyone wants the buff so we got quite the sum. It¡¯s true that the more people to pet them the faster they grow, but earning money on the way sounds great as well. When I arrive at the stall, Fifi turned to look at me. Fifi: ¡°Good timing, do you remember a sword-man guy called ¡°Delacroix¡±?¡± Stone: ¡°That sounds familiar¡. Why do you ask?¡± Fifi: ¡°He¡¯s the guy you guys killed. He came here and went chaos mode.¡± Stone: ¡°Sounds reasonable¡. Aiming for the crafters first, huh¡ He¡¯d get a lot of our items if he succeeded.¡± Fifi: ¡°You¡¯re not worried at all.¡. Well, we did spend a lot to make the land mines after all.¡± Stone: ¡°Well, Saturn already told me about it too.¡± Fifi: ¡°Anyway, he dropped a helmet. What should I do with it?¡± Stone: ¡°Just give it to one of the sword-man. First come, first serve¡ Eh, no, wait. It¡¯s level 20 right? All of us are level 28 at least, so just sell it to the crafting guild.¡± Fifi: ¡°Okay~. Oh, here¡¯s the rest of your lv 30 equipment, its 5 gold.¡± Stone: ¡°Thanks.¡± Hmmm¡. We shouldn¡¯t really worry about someone who we have already killed 3 times but let¡¯s just add him to the guild¡¯s black-list so that the members will be cautious around him. Stone: ¡°That sword-man guy, what¡¯s his name again?¡± Fifi: ¡°it¡¯s Delacroix¡± Right By the way, I leveled up to 32 yesterday and I got a new skill [slam]. The skill is to jump 2 meters and slam the shield toward the enemy while falling. Preparing for a hunt, I pet all of the pets to get the buffs. I asked in the guild chat if there is any party going. Stone: -Anyone in the forest?- (Guild Member): -We¡¯re here- We already did all the doable unrepeatable quest here, including those over-leveling us. We did a lot of chain quests too but to continue the quests, we need to get higher level. We¡¯re mostly going to just do normal leveling. Without the quests, levelling up will be harder.PREVIOUS CHAPTERBack to Main Page
