《The Dragon God》 Prologue: The Dragon God As a child, I knew I was different¡special in a way. All of the other children avoided me due to this difference. It didn¡¯t matter though because I didn¡¯t bother to care enough of them for it matter. Caring about others isn¡¯t exactly my nature. Heh, you could even say I was born with notion of not caring about others other then myself, of course. Anyhow, from a young age, I knew a great destiny awaits me. One would that alter the fate of my life and others around me¡and even those beyond it. And I knew that to meet it, I had to survive and become strong. So strong that anyone who dares to oppose me would face the fear of powerlessness and death. Yes¡I had to become strong enough to rival God himself. Though it is easier said than done, of course. God himself is omnipotent, and to reach such a state in power, requires more than just hard work. I, myself, had to say I was born with a talent that was incomparable. Not to boast about it, but anything requiring even geniuses years of dedication to learn would be comprehended by me in a heartbeat . An amazing feat to behold, considering how young I was at that age. Even I amaze myself at times. Not to mention the people around who praise me to their utmost of how much of a genius I was. Though I couldn¡¯t care less about it. The genius that I was, I had no equal. I eventually became peerless in power and intellect. Still, I knew I still had a road to follow and the end was still far off. The path for it was dangerous and unpredictable; however I remained safe and steady. However at this point, I began to truly understand the meaning of the word loneliness. After all, at the top, there can only one person, and I just so happened to be him. But still I tread on enduring it and led by an unknown force. Perhaps, it was my destiny guiding me to it, and providing me with the necessities to meet it. Heh, often times I would think of it as a parent I never had. How laughable. Regardless of much help it gave me, I still had to put in effort of which course I did. And it bore fruit. Countless years passed and¡ Finally, I was able to reach the end of that road. Finally, I was able to meet to my destiny. When I reached that point, everyone of this world had learned of me and come to revere me as the Dragon God. Indeed, I had unknowingly become the Dragon God by treading this long path. Still¡to reach it, I had to endure the feeling of loneliness which still haunts me every day and night. By bearing those feelings and treading onward, my powers became to rival that of God defying the laws of the heavens. Ironic, how heavens had given me these gifts but yet had not expected me to push this far with them. Hmph, the fools that they were¡ Of course, God himself wasn¡¯t too glad either to have another entity equaling him. After all, if such a thing was to happen, then there would be no point in calling him ¡®God¡¯. So, he tried to exterminate me with his loyal subjects and followers. However at that point, it was already far too late. Heh, if only God had foreseen this and killed me off from the start. I could only guess my destiny blinded his eyes from seeing me and my future. God sent his best minions and warriors from heavens to kill me off. Of course, the results were obvious. I annihilated them with mere ease. After all, I wasn¡¯t called the Dragon God for nothing. Still, this mini skirmish between God and me brought great joy to me. My loneliness and boredom was cured by it. This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere. However, after eons of failure of trying to kill me, God finally drew back along with his crowd. The coward that he was, he didn¡¯t want to risk angering me into fighting head on with him in which could cause him to risk his godhood. Though I could care less about such a thing. The only thing that mattered was that my cure for loneliness and boredom had ceased. And so, with God gone, my life of loneliness and boredom returned. In the blink of an eye, ten million human years had passed by. With the passage of time, changes occurred. More so to me, the so called Dragon God, who had to endure the countless years in solitude. I had reached Godhood, and my lifespan had surpassed any other living beings. Knowing this, I never interacted with any of them. Already too late, I had come to regret of not doing so when I was younger and was still a mere mortal. Perhaps, it was my ego driving me to pursue my destiny and disregard all else. It was already too late anyways, the only thing I could do now was to regret. Indeed after millions of years in solitude, I had change. The once careless and indifferent me had withered away with the passing of time. What remained left was a broken shell ¨C full of regrets and extreme feeling of loneliness. The state that I was currently in brought great shame to me. From that point on, I began to hate the destiny that had guided me here. I had power but I had nothing. Often times, I would wonder what would my life had been if this hadn¡¯t been my destiny. If I had never become Dragon God, would I have been happier? With all these negative thoughts and feelings in mind, I began to lose myself. Then, he came¡.God He came to find my sorry self. I thought he had come to use the opportunity to kill me once and for all but instead what he came for was a surprise. He had wanted to help me. I had thought he was joking and just teasing me but the serious facade he had on proved otherwise. It seemed he pitied me and wanted to at least soothe my suffering. He, too, after all suffered the same way I did. Maybe it was these similar feelings that brought him here. Though I still didn¡¯t get how he could help me. What he suggested however greatly shook me¡¡¯rebirth.¡¯ For since, he was the true God of the universe; he tinker around all he want with it. I could only touch a tiny bit upon it since it wasn¡¯t exactly my universe. Though I could have made one of my own, I didn¡¯t¡as it could possibly anger and offend my new-made friend. Anyways, with God¡¯s help, I was able to drag my own soul out from my godlike draconic body. On that day, the Dragon God had finally died. As my soul faded, though, I could see the envious gaze God gave off to me. I could only smile back to him as a response. I, too, would have felt the same had he been in my shoes. For this reason, I greatly pitied him. With those last thoughts, my consciousness faded away and my soul was dragged out of this world. And thus, I entered the reincarnation cycle God had created¡ Chapter 1: Coming in to the World Note: This is in the perspective of a baby dragon. A world accompanied by pitch darkness. A sound repeatedly and rhythmically beating ¨C a heartbeat. I was awoken by it. My consciousness is still blurry and hazy. The only thoughts I¡¯m able to muster is that I¡¯m somewhere safe and secure, at least for the moment. And with that, my mind blanked out and my consciousness slowly faded again¡ After an unknown amount of time had passed, I regained consciousness only to find some changes to the darkness encompassing me when I opened my eyes. There were small white cracks that seemed to have appeared out from nowhere. Pure dazzling sunlight seems to be radiating from those tiny cracks, probably from the outside. The warmth of the light from the cracks seems to be giving strength -enough strength to break free from this place that I was in. So, following what my mind was telling me what to do, I poured every ounce of my strength into moving my tiny arms and legs to push against this barrier holding down onto me. ¡°Craccck!!!¡± A huge chuck of the barrier fell out, leaving a gap for the white radiating light to peer through almost blinding my sensitive eyes. The sting only lasted for a few moments though and quickly dispersed. I reopened my eyes quickly after the pain subsided to peer through the gap to find¡. A huge creature adorned in pure-white glittering scales with gigantic white wings protruding from her back. Her features were that of a predator and the size of the creature could easily be considered to be the scale of a small mountain. Both combined only added to making the creature seem menacing and oppressive. Only, her eyes betrayed her intimidating looks for it appeared gentle and soothing. Along with that gentle gaze, she was also giving off motherly aura. It seems as if she was beckoning me to hurry out to greet her. I felt a close connection with her and something tells me that she was my mother. Not feeling any signs of danger from her, though shocked at first, I slowly begin making my way out of this thing holding me down from going to her. Seeing me do that, the huge white-scalely creature let out a soft growl. Its eyes shine of pride and warmth. With those eyes serving as encouragement, I was finally able to break free from this round object that was obstructing me. I slowly crawled out into the light and took a quick glance around me. Surprisingly, I found there to be around five of these strange round objects near me. Though they were still undisturbed. It seems that I was the first one to come out. Knowing that somehow made me a bit happy and proud. A deep and melodious feminine voice quickly snapped me out from my pondering: ¡°Little one, you are the first of the batch. Though you may not know what this signifies yet, I congratulate you. However you must always remember that as the eldest, you bear the responsibility of taking care and looking after your younger siblings.¡± Enjoying this book? I knew that something of very important value was just said to me even though I could not quite comprehend what was said. In response, I could only nod my head up and down. Seeing my nodding, she let out a satisfied grunt and turned to face the other strange objects. One appeared to be moving and there were imminent cracks appearing on the surface of it. With the same process as me, the tiny creature inside inspected her surroundings and after gathering enough courage finally stepped out. The tiny creature who emerged out from the strange object was of a pale-green color. Her tiny horns and claws were undeveloped and only serve to make her seem vulnerable. And I could clearly see that I was the bigger one between me and her as she approached and sat right next to me. Taking my eyes off her, I saw that two other strange objects were stirring and shaking with cracks appearing. The timing was almost perfect and moments later, and two little creatures popped out, one of a purplish color and the other of a crimson red. They took curious glances around and when finally satisfied looking around, settled down beside me and the pale-green dragon. Moments passed but the other one object remained still and silent. After seemingly hours had passed by, the gigantic white creature let out a soft sigh and gave a soft and sorrowful glance at the silent object. We could only watch silently for even we know that the one inside it would never come out to greet us. The white creature, after a long moment of silence, finally brought her gaze back to us and spoke: ¡°It seems that there will only be four of you. Though, the other one did not make it through, and though it brings great sorrow and pain to me, we must move onward. For now, since you have only been recently come into this world I expect all of you to be tired so for now, I¡¯ll let you have a decent amount of rest tonight. I¡¯ll inform more of what¡¯s to come tomorrow morning. But be sure to get a good night¡¯s rest because you¡¯ll need it tomorrow.¡± And with that, the white creature, my mother, fell to a great slumber. But not before encircling her children around with her body and tail protecting them from harm¡¯s way. Her words certainly were taken to heart by me and the others because as soon as she went to sleep, we also began to tidy and ready ourselves for rest as well. Her words left me anxious and the hint she gave were obviously clear. Tomorrow wasn¡¯t going to be easy day and I¡¯m going need every possible ounce of strength I could muster for it. Only with some rest will I be ready for it. So with that in our minds, we quickly fell asleep. With that, my first day passed. Chapter 2: A memory from the past A dream. I¡¯m in pitch black darkness looking at an enormous ancient and grayish creature, resembling mother, who in turn is looking straight me. His size dwarfs that of my mother. If mother was a small mountain, then he would certainly compare to ten giant mountains. One word to describe him: HUGE. His size would only amount to so much; however, size wasn¡¯t all he had. He gave an oppressive and indomitable aura that far surpasses mother¡¯s ¡almost making me blank out and lose my mind. Luckily, he withdrew it when he saw my efforts to stay awake making me think of how weak I am. Most mentionable, however, are his eyes. They were pure white giving the impression that he was blind due to his old age giving off an ancient and lonely glint. However the gaze he held when looking at me, seems as if he was looking straight into my soul, inspecting every corner and crevice my very being. He surely wasn¡¯t blind¡was he? ¡°Fifteen years¡for Fifteen years¡endure¡¡± He spoke with a raspy voice as if speaking for the first time in his life, looking straight into my eyes to which I looked back. Seeing that I was intently listening to his words, he continued: ¡°Though there are many things I wish to say¡I cannot. Bringing you here already exhausted all the strength I had and time is of the essence. But remember this, whatever happens do not abandon those close to you under any circumstances. If you do, I will certainly never forgive you.¡± ¡°Huh?¡± I am totally lost¡just what is he talking about? Wait, in the first place, why is he talking like he knows me. I¡¯ve never seen or met him before, not that I remember. Ignoring my short interruption, he resumed: ¡°Though, you are confuse, just try to at least remember what I have to tell you. Though you are just recently born, as you are of the Dragon race, you should be able to do at least this much. Anyhow, listen carefully because I won¡¯t repeat what I will say. For the next fifteen years, you will suffer greatly. The reason you will find out every soon. Until, then endure the hardships and humiliation you will face¡and if perhaps, you are able to, we will meet again.¡± This story is posted elsewhere by the author. With those lingering words, his massive body began to gently fade into the dark. ¡°WAIT!¡± I yelled at him as exasperation, shock, and disbelief overtook me. I couldn¡¯t understand anything of what he said but for some odd reason I believed him and knew he wasn¡¯t lying to me either. ¡°Don¡¯t leave yet! You haven¡¯t told me who you are! Please, before you go, at least tell me who you are!¡± I yell as I chase after his fading body in the empty darkness. ¡°Hm? Heh, so you don¡¯t really know huh. Well, I would guess you wouldn¡¯t. But even if I did tell you, you wouldn¡¯t even have a clue as to who I am; it would only confuse you further. So don¡¯t bother about it.¡± I desperately ran after him but I couldn¡¯t catch up to him. For a creature of his size, he moves too fast. Knowing it was too late; I stop my pursuit and stood there alone in darkness staring at the tiny fading shadow of what use to be the giant grey creature. Then suddenly¡ ¡°I am but a mere memory from the past. A regret, really. But do not think too much of it, for you already know wh..o¡.I¡a¡mmmm¡¡± Resounded a deep voice in the dark. ¡°BANG!¡± I woke up¡only to find the pale-green dragon¡¯s arm on my face. I had to admit, though she was tiny, she sure packs a wallop. There was a small swelling on my grey snout, but luckily no serious injuries or anything. I removed her arm from my swollen face and then began thinking about that strange dream. Was it really a dream..? But those last words, ¡°A memory from the past¡a regret¡huh.¡± Whose past though¡and why did he say regret? ¡°ARGH!! Why did he had to say it in such a complicated and confusing way. Bah, I could care less anymore. I need to sleep or tomorrow isn¡¯t going to be pleasant experience for me.¡± Pushing it out my mind, I closed my eyes and slowly drifted to sleep.
