《Riley's second chance》


 Prologue- my past life

    I did a lot of things in my life. Some were good, others were bad. I saved lives and I took them. When people seen me, their eyes always showed a different feeling. Some were filled of hate, lust, fear, joy, disappointment, and many more. I will admit I used to hate their judgmental eyes but, now I don''t really care. If you asked me if I regret my life, I would tell you yes because I wished that I could have protected him. I was supposed to take care of him. He was my aspiration, hope, dream, and my heart.


    I will be honest with you. Before I met him, I was wild. I would party every night, fight everyday, wake naked with a random person, and much much more. I met him when I was in the hospital with a bullet in my arm, three broken fingers and a swollen face. His name was Jacob. He was six years old with three degree burns on both arms and a multiple of stitches on his legs. I asked the nurse who was helping me what happened to him and she told me that his parents abused him. They carved his legs writing words describing him. The words on his legs were insults like, idiot, mistake, pain, and many more. The nurse said that he was lucky to be alive because while he was sleeping his mother set the house on fire with him and his father in it. His father had died because she locked the bedroom door and Jacob survived by climbing out of his window and running over to his neighbors. When they found his mother, she hung herself under the backyard tree.


    When I heard of his story, I was sad and disgusted. I was sad for him and disgusted with his parent and myself. I was disgusted with myself because I was so caught up with my pathetic life that he was having it worse then me but, he could still smile like nothing was wrong. Every time I seen him, he was smiling and laughing that it was contagious. I talked to him and played with him until I was released. I got myself a together by getting a job as a personal security guard for one of the riches man in the city. I had to protect his daughter and follow he around town. I worked for them for three years visiting Jacob every weekend until the doctors told me that he was being put up for adoption. When we both heard the news, he was heart broken because he didn''t want to leave me. If I had to say me and him formed a bond, he was like a son to me and I didn''t want to lose him. So after five long months, I adopted him as my own. I bought a small house, paid for his medical bills, and we had a good time.


    I lived with him for two short years until my past caught up with me. See I used to hangout with these strange people. They were fun people who knew how to do some crazy wild things. We were kinda like a small family or brotherhood who did dangerous and evil things. We robbed, abused, and even killed but, at that time I didn''t know they killed our victims. During our years together, they became darker and eviler. The police found out what they were doing and confronted me telling me all of their sins. So I made a deal with them, that I would testify against them and I would go to jail for my own crimes that were less than theirs. We all went to prison but, to different places. I was in prison five years and they had twenty. After I got out, I was immediately in witness protection. I was sent to Japan and started a new life but, old habits die hard. I learned many things in Japan before I was sent back to the States like different kinds of martial arts and the art of killing. I didn''t kill anyone there but, was taught the easiest way to take a life.

    Back to my main story , my old "friends" found me and Jacob and I watched them torture and kill him right in front of my eyes. After that day, I was broken. They locked me in a basement for five months until, I broke out. I broke out in the middle of the night and slowly painfully tortured each and everyone of them until they begged me to just kill them. I killed them and ran away because after a couple of days the police were after me. After I got away, I was in a deep depression because all I could think of was Jacob. If he had not of met me, he would still be alive. If he had better parents that loved him and took care of him, he would have had a wonderful life. When I was thinking of all those things, I came up with a solution that all of these evil and sick people should all just die. So I hunted every criminal in my path that hurt people deeply. I killed many people and saved many people.


    After many years of killing, I was finally stopped. See I was chancing this serial killer and we had a good fight. I ended up killing him but, I didn''t come out unharmed. He shot me four times all over my body and luckily the police came in time to take me to the hospital. I was in a coma for three months and in recovery for nine months. The doctors were surprised that I even survived but, I was not interested. When I woke up, the police came and I confessed to everything. They had a trail and it was decided that I would have life in prison. I was fine with it because I knew that my life was ending soon. While I was slowly dying, my nurse would always talk to me. She would ask me about my life. One day she come into my room and ask this strange question. A question so strange that it took a moment for me to answer her.


    Nurse: Do you want to try again?


    I didn''t understand her question at first. She notice my confusion and reworded the question.


    Nurse: If you had the option to start a new life in a new world and a chance to see Jacob again would you take it?


    I looked at her for a moment and said yes. She smiled at me and leaned over kissing me. I was surprised until my eyes got heave and I drifted off to sleep. The last thing I heard was, "I will see you in my domain."

 Chapter 1

    Its dark and I can''t feel anything. I wonder if I am dead. Probably. I try to say something but, I can''t find my voice.


    ''Well this is not what I expected''


    I look around or I think I was looking around and I don''t see anything. I feel like I am in a void or black hole. I am starting to get worried that this lonely void was my personal hell until a small white light appeared in the distance. It started to expand slowly until it covered the whole place.


    ''At least I''m not in a dark room anymore.''


    I looked around and I was in a big white room with a white coach a few feet away from me. I walked over to the coach and sat down.


    ''Now what am I going to do?''


    Looking around the room, I see no windows or doors. Sighing  I laid down and drifted off to sleep.

    ???: Riley wake up


    I felt someone shaking me trying to wake me up but, this coach is really comfortable. It was like sleeping on clouds and I did not want to get up.


    Riley: Leave me alone


    ???: You have to get up Riley. Don''t you want to see me again. (sad)


    I looked at the person who sounds like he was about to cry and seen Jacob. I jumped up surprising him and tackled him to the floor crying.


    Riley: Jacob is this really you. I missed you so much.


    Jacob: I miss you too, Riley


    I felt him hug me back and a wet spot on my shoulder. We sat there on the ground crying in each others embrace. It felt like hours until we calm down but only a few minutes past.


    Riley: How have you been?


    Jacob: Good, after I died Athena took care of me.


    Riley: Who is Athena?


    Jacob: You don''t know the Goddess of Wisdom? (surprised)


    Riley: Yes, I know who that is but, a lot of people have that name. So what have been doing?


    Jacob: I have been reading in Athena''s library and watching you.


    Riley: Watching me? What do you mean?


    Jacob: Well when I got here I was worried about you so I ask Athena could I see you. She said that I could watch you from up here so I watched you since the time you died.


    ''If Jacob has been watching me all this time, then he knows what I have done.''


    I stepped away from Jacob because I knew that he wouldn''t want to be with me anymore since I did all of those things. Jacob notice it and pulled m back in for another hug.


    Jacob: I know why you did all of those things and I was shocked at first but, know I don''t care. You saved many lives and helped make the country a better place. I wouldn''t say it was the best way to go about it but, I am proud of you for standing up against people who were trying to harm others even if it was for your own revenge. I am glad to have someone that took care of me like you do mom.


    I broke down crying once more and I noticed that my little boy really grew up. Jacob kept holding me  until I stopped crying.


    Riley: Sorry for breaking down like that,


    Jacob: Its okay. Now we must get moving because the Gods are calling us.


    Jacob started to pull my hand and walked towards the door that was behind him.


    ''That was not there before.''


    We continued walking down a hall. I tried to keep a mental map of the place but it was difficult to do because the walls were all the same and there was no doors or windows anywhere. I gave up after our seventh turn and just looked at Jacob. He was taller then me at 6"2'', broad shoulders, jet black hair, brown eyes, muscular, and he looked to be about twenty years old.  I am sure that he would have been a lady killer if he was still alive.


    Jacob: We are here.


    I looked away from him and see a gigantic door that is about 15ft. high and it had glow that shouted royalty. I at the door in awe an


    ???: Come in Jacob


    The doors open up and Jacob and I walked inside. It was a white room with ten people inside sitting in chairs facing each other. The chairs were lined up in away that it was shaped like a U with a bid table in front of it. I took my time to look at everyone around the table and I had to say that they were the most beautiful people I ever seen. They put model to shame. I couldn''t stop staring at them until I heard Jacob chuckle at me. I got back to my senses and just looked down embarrass.


    ???: Hello Riley, nice to see you again.


    I looked at one of the women in the front of me and she was beautiful. She had black curily hair, black eyes, pale white skin, and a round face. She looked like she was in her twenties but, had a mature vibe coming from her. I looked at her up and down and I had to say that her body but a model to shame. She had a double D breast and she had curves in all the right places.


    ???: Are you having fun staring at me?


    Riley: Yea, I mean, Don''t I know you?


    ???: Well, I was your nurse for two weeks.

    The woman stood up and transformed into the nurse that took care of me then changed back.


    ???:Now do you believe me.


    Riley: Yea, I understand.


    ???: Okay, my name is Macaria and  I am the Goddess of Blessed Death. The people around me are Gods and Goddess who rule over realm.


    Riley: Wait, sorry to interrupt but, where is Hades?


    Macaria: Oh, my father rules over every realm with Zeus and Poseidon but, they let their kids rule over different realms.


    Riley: I see, so what do you all need me for?


    Macaria: Yes, I have watched you all your live and I found you quite amusing. Actually we all did and when Jacob here died he joined us. After Jacob seen you suffer so much, he gave up his chance to be reincarnated for you to take his place.


    Riley: What you said that I could stay with him?


    Jacob: Sorry mom, but you desire to start over and live a life that you want to not for anyone else. I like it here anyway reading about history, watching you live, and many more.


    Riley: But Jacob, I have already lived my life. I seen the world but, you haven''t. You should experience it. Falling in love, have kids, seeing the world, don''t you want that?


    Jacob: I already have all of those things. I seen the world from here and I went down there. I fallen in love with a beautiful angel and I am having a son soon. Time her is much faster then on Earth. I am already 27. I am fine here and I could be your guardian angel when you go into the other world.


    ???: Great speech Jacob, you make me proud and Riley I think you should go. You can meet new people and start all over. It will be harder because it is a different world but, I know you can do it.


    Riley: Ok since Jacob seems to not need me anymore, I guess I will go. By the way what is this other world you all are talking about?


    Jacob: Before that let me introduce everyone to you. Starting from the left is Aphrodite, Apollo, Ares, Artemis, Athena, Dionysus, Hephaestus, Hera, Hermes, and Macaria. Do you want me to tell you what Gods they are?


    Riley: No, I study Mythology before thanks. Now the world?


    Athena: This realm has three different worlds with 9 planets each. You will be going to Gaia. Gaia was named after mother earth because life there is more abundant then the other worlds. Gaia is different then your world because magic is present there. The different races are dragons, elf, dwarfs, demi-human, human, mermaids, lizardman, vampires, werewolves, demons, fairies, and many more. there are of course monsters on Gaia too. Any questions?


    Riley: Not really but, it is mostly like the books that Jacob used to read.


    Athena: Yes. There are 9 kingdoms on Gaia. The Elven Kingdom is Alfheim, Dwarfs kingdom is Agartha, Demi-humans is Lumiria, Mermaids is Atlantis, and the Human Kingdoms are Proassa, Kigor, and Eralisa. There is a Queendom with different kinds of races living there.


    Dionysus: Where do you want to go and what do you want to be?


    Riley: One question before I answer. Why are all of the other races except human have only one kingdom?


    Jacob: The rest of the races have different tribes and don''t really need more kingdom.


    Riley: Oh, ok. I don''t care where I go or what I am.  You all can just pick something for me.


    Macaria: Are you sure because you can make yourself a powerful as long as you just ask?


    Riley: I''m sure, just let Jacob help out.


    Athena: Ok, you better say your goodbyes now.


    I bowed and turn toward Jacob and hugged him.


    Riley: I am going to miss you and you better take care of me.


    Jacob: Of course, as long as I am able or I think you can''t handle it.


    I let go of Jacob try to keep my tears in. Jacob was already starting to cry but tried to cover it up by rubbing his eyes.


    Jacob: I am really going to miss you and have fun.


    Riley: I will.


    I turned back to the Gods that were watching us and nodded my head. Macaria got up and walked over to me until she was right in front of me.


    Macaria: We will be watching you. Are you ready?


    Riley: Yea


    Macaria started speaking in a foreign language and a circle under me stared to glow bright. I looked back at Jacob and winked. He looked at me confused but, I quickly turned around and gave Macaria a deep kiss when she finished talking. Before she could do anything, I disappeared to my new life. For some reason I could hear her laughing.

 Chapter 2- The Happening

    I wake up remembering that I was reincarnated and find myself in complete darkness. I try to feel around but all I feel is a barrier and liquid around me.


    I guess, I''m in my mother''s womb.


    I wait for a while hoping that my mom will give birth to me soon because I am so bored. I have literally nothing to do in here but think. I can kick but, I don''t really want to give my mother discomfort. I really wish that I could have woke up when she gave birth to me but, I had to wait until she was ready.


    I guess I should go back to sleep.


    How many days has it been?  4 days? 3 weeks? 9 months?  Someone please tell me, I am seriously about to lose my mind from this dark and gloomy place. I have no one to talk to me except myself and I am so lonely. It''s dark in here and I feel like I am floating in outer space or something. The only good about being here is that it is warm, I get food ,and sometimes if I am lucky I hear someone talking or singing. I figure that it was my mother.


    I hope I can get out of here soon.


    I wake up and feel pain all over me.


    ah!!!!!! What the hell is happening? Ahhh!!!  Stop pulling me


    "Almost there Serenity just keep pushing." I hear a female voice say.


    oh I see, mom is giving birth to me but, why does it hurt so much. I thought only the mother gets hurt


    ???: "Push Serenity push"


    Serenity: "I can''t .... I can''t push anymore"


    Yes you damn can.


    ???: "You can do it, keep trying. Healing"


    I suddenly feel all of the pain go away and feel more energy coming from me.


    What was that?


    ???: "I see the head!! Keep pushing."


    I feel a cold breeze on top of my head and start wiggling out to help my mom.


    Serenity: "AHHHHHHH!"


    Suddenly I feel that I am out from the womb. I feel arms on me wrapping something around me. I try to open my eyes but, can''t.


    I guess my eyes aren''t developed yet. That was a lot of work. I''m tired let me just go to sleep.


    ???: "Its a girl Serenity."


    Serenity: "That''s great. Luke would have loved to seen her. Can I hold her?"


    ???: "Of course and Luke would have been happy to his daughter."


    Serenity: "Why is her fur black?"


    ???: "I don''t know but, maybe it will change when she grows up."


    Serenity: "I doubt it but, I does look good on her. I hope Leo doesn''t get the wrong idea"


    ???: "Leo knows that you wouldn''t cheat on Luke. He will love his niece and if he doesn''t I will beat the shit out of him myself"


    Serenity: "Thanks Erika."


    Erika: "Of course what are best friends for and you should probably get some rest."


    Serenity: "yea, I''m tired."


    Serenity soon drifted off to sleep and Erika took the little baby girl to the royal den were her children were.

    I woke up hungry. I sniffed around, since my eyes were still closed, try to food. I didn''t small food but, I could smell other things around. I smelt sweat, blood, and other scents.


    I must have gotten a Demi-human race, since my senses were heighten but I couldn''t be sure because I haven''t seen myself yet.


    I tried to move were the other scents were but, my body was to week to move.


    Guess I am going to have to make some noise.


    Riley: "aoww, muuh"


    I tried to cry but, it came out as a whimper from a dog. I was suddenly picked up and cradled in someone''s arms.


    ???: "Are you hungry little one? Your aunt Erika will feed you."


    After the women said that she was my aunt, She stuffed something in my mouth. I started resisting until sweet creamy liquid was in my mouth. I sucked all I could before drifting off to sleep.

    Erika put Riley down on the bed and couldn''t help but smile. When Serenity was naming the pup, she picked Erika''s mother''s name Riley. Erika was so happy that she couldn''t help but, cry.  Erika vowed that day to always look after and take care of Riley even though she was planning to do that from the beginning. I hope that my pups would come out cute like Riley. Erika thought while rubbing her pregnant stomach. Erika was about to lay down on the bed until she heard a knock from the door.

    Erika watched as Leo, her husband, quietly walked in and sat in a chair next to the bed.


    Leo: "Who is that?"


    Erika was confused by the question because only her and little Riley were in the and everyone new that they were their waiting for Serenity to get food for herself.


    Erika: "This is Riley, Serenity''s pup. She is beautiful isn''t she.


    Leo scrunched up his face before sniffing the air. Leo smelt Erika with the pup''s scent on her. The pup also smelt like Serenity and Luke but, he also smelt something else.


    Leo: "Who else touched her?"


    Erika: "Only me and Serenity touched her why?"


    Leo: "Smell her, she has another scent on her."


    Erika was still confused by Leo''s questions but, still smelt Riley and she noticed that Riley had another scent on her.


    Erika: "That is probably her natural smell."


    Leo: "Or a demon?" (growled)


    Erika: "Leo there is no demon in this child, I would have notice."


    Leo: "You don''t know the priest said it was possible when you and Serenity was attacked and she was poison protecting you."


    Erika: "Leo this child is perfectly fine."


    Leo: "Then why is she black and hasn''t open her eyes yet."


    Erika: "She is just tired and what does her fur(her hair) have to do with anything."


    Leo: "It has to do with  a lot of things. Luke was red and Serenity has white fur."


    Erika: "She is just unique. So stop treating her like some kind of demon. She is you niece and I know if Luke was still around he wouldn''t want you treating her like this."


    Leo: "Okay, but bad things are going to start happening because of her and when it does I will not have you or our pups around her."


    Erika: "Even if something does happen, I will still stay with her."


    Leo: "I will-"


    The door swung wide open and a maid and soldier came bursting threw.


    ???: "My king, something has happened."


    Leo: "What William? You see me hear talking to your queen and you dare interrupted us. You are my Captain of my Royal Guard."


    ???: "Queen Erika, Serenity- ,she- ,they- , please come now."


    Erika: "What happen Maria?"


    William and Maria: "Please come."


    Erika and Leo both notice something was very wrong because William and Maria wouldn''t look them up in the eyes. Usually they were both comfortable talking to each other but, Maria had deep fear in her eyes and William looked ashamed.


    Erika: "Of course."


    They all followed William as he led them towards something.  Everyone was quiet but, you could hear Maria sniffling quietly. Erika walked closer towards Maria and started comforting her whispering little words in her ear saying that everything was okay.


    William: "We are here."


    They all stopped in front of courtyard door and Erika and Leo noticed that everyone was had sad expressions on their faces. Leo was about to open the door before William stopped him.


    Leo: "Yes?"


    William: "You must be prepared before you go out there and Maria and Queen Erika shouldn''t go out there."


    Erika and Maria: "We are going."


    William: "But-"


    Erika: "But nothing, William open this door now."


    William looked like he wanted to say something but, he knew from the faces that Erika and Maria were giving him that he should open the door. William breathed in and out deeply then opened the door. When the door was open all Erika could hear was screams and cries coming from outside. Erika and Leo walked outside and what they seen made. Erika cry out falling to her knees. Leo was holding his wife while looking at the scene in shock. In front of them was Serenity hanging from the wall with swords going through her.
