《Breaking Syd》 Prologue: ~What a Wonderful World~ "Talking" Emphasis ''Thoughts'' *Sound Effects*
Prologue: ~What a Wonderful World~ Four days, for four long days now she had tried to ignore it. However, turning a blind eye to a problem that constantly jumps in front of you isn''t easy. Every time she looked in the mirror, or at someone else, the problem reared its ugly head again. LV.3 ~ Syndra Shyael All of a sudden one morning, she could see people''s names above their heads. As if that wasn''t bad enough, she was getting little quests here and there. At first she had thought that she''d played Helios Online for one too many hours. Unfortunately, that theory got debunked thanks to a rather depressing family conversation.
Gorgeous locks of silky black hair were a mess today. She''d woken up to some very vivid hallucinations, and no matter how much she glared into her own azure eyes, the mirage failed to dispel itself. She spared a single moment to wipe the sweat away, her tan skin shined in an almost perfect manner this morning, it was... unnaturally unnerving. Maybe her mother could confirm this was just a very elaborate hallucination. "Mom, does the name Syndra Shyael mean anything to you?" she had asked hopefully. It really was bothering her, everybody else had their real names. So why the hell was her name an elvish one. Her mother, a rather beautiful brunette, had the decency to blush. "Pumpkin, where did you hear that name?" That blush warned Sydney ¡ª that''s right Sydney Kael, not Syndra ¡ª that something was amiss. Obviously her mother felt guilty about the whole situation they had just found themselves in. Most likely cause of guilt? Her gods be damned name. "I got a letter in my box at the post office, junk mail..."
What followed was embarrassing to say the least. Her parents, being a couple of real life role players hopped up on morphine, named her elvish. Why her dad was high as a kite when she was born is another mystery. Scratch that ¡ª why the damn hospital let them do it is probably a better question. So here she was, Sydney a.k.a Syndra, real life game character with an elvish name. Sydney would have thought she was going crazy. Sadly, the fact that this thing knew her real name, when even she didn''t, meant that something freaky was going on. ''Could be worse,'' she thought. ''I could actually be stuck in a game.'' It was the point when that thought struck her that Sydney knew she was boned. One way or another, something was bound to screw her over. After all, it is very hard to keep a straight face when you see an assassin or spy walking down the street. Worse still, when one of them lives next door. Yes, that''s right, a right next door. Of course the alluring, sexy, fiery, passionate woman who stole her innocence last summer ended up as a gods be damned spy!
Just before the end of her junior year she''d turned eighteen. One of her parent''s ironclad rules, no dating till you''re eighteen, broke, just like that. She was so excited, finally all her teenage hormones could find an unsuspecting boy to unleash themselves upon. Of course that excitement turned to confusion pretty fast, kissing boys really sucked, it was nothing like they''d said it''d be. One bastard even had the nerve to cop a feel, he ended up in a hospital getting x-rays to check his ''rig'' for damages. There were no fireworks, no passion, no romance. Her hopes for a young love affair with another student were thoroughly broken in less than a week. Boys sucked, plain and simple. Once again, Sydney''s train of thought was to the point ¡ª boys, they were too young, too immature. So against her better judgement she sought out a love affair. Video games were fun and all, but you can only see so many romance stories before you want some for yourself. Sydney was starting to sweat, smooth layers of silky black hair sliding across her pale shoulders, head swaying to the rhythm of a chill beat, pulsing lights reflecting off her calm blue eyes. Her skin was still pretty pale at the time, too many games, too little sportsmanship. That didn''t stop her though, Sydney wanted love, so here she was waiting to be hit on. Sneaking into the local bar was not one of her better moments, but drastic measures had to be taken ¡ª boys sucked after all. Imagine Syd''s confusion when the first person to buy her a drink was not a man, not a boy, but a woman. The redhead in question, while not incredibly beautiful, definitely had something going for her. Whatever it was, Syd was too young and too new to the whole dating thing to understand. That didn''t stop her from liking it though. ''Huh,'' she had thought, ''why the fuck not.'' The following kiss ¡ª what Sydney would vehemently insist from that day forward was her ''first kiss'', turned out to be everything she was looking for. There was a heat, a passion to it... a very lonely, needy, desperate passion. Something in her just said that this woman was suffering, and Syd had been many things, but cruel she was not. So she found exactly what she was looking for, an affair with someone much better than ''boys''. Waking up in her neighbor''s bed, looking across the balcony at her own home, her own room, was sort of surreal. Having another woman''s arm wrapped around your waist is even more surreal for a girl, or rather, young woman who thought she was straight less than twelve hours ago. By the gods she was not straight, nope, not even fucking close. If you spot this tale on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation. ''No wonder boys sucked.'' Was her overly simplified explanation to that particular conundrum. So, instead of sneaking out, Syd took the time to trace her fingers along some rather gruesome scars her partner had. She was pretty sure a few were from torture, and two were definitely bullet wounds. "Beauty marks," Syd had called them. She wasn''t lying either, something about those wounds made her partner seem so much deeper than anyone else she''d met before. So of course she ended up with a crush on the woman. Especially after the encore they had before she went home that morning.
''They say hindsight is twenty-twenty,'' Syd thought bitterly. ''Fucking cocksuckers.'' LV.17 ~ Riley Tombs That''s what it said, now the scars made so much more sense. So many things made so much more sense. For the past four days she''d missed her morning ritual. ''Katie'', now known as Riley, was doing her usual routine like clockwork. Stretching, basic exercises, a few stances of some martial art Syd never bothered to ask about, and the best part is when ''Katie'' realized that she was being watched, her workout changed a bit. From that day forward it became a clothing optional activity. By the gods Sydney was afraid what her parents would think if they ever spotted her doing this. Best not to get caught, hence, the new deadbolt on her bedroom door. *Ding!*

"That just happened," she intoned sarcastically. Being the game savvy lass that she is, Syd realized there should be a status screen somewhere. Lo and behold, the moment she thinks of it, another see-through window appears.

Health 50/50 Mana 240/240

Looking over the status window nearly caused her to have a heart attack. She could feel her heart beating a mile a minute, and it was not because of the naked woman behind her status screen. "Calm down, calm down, calm down," she chanted. "You were expecting this shit, calm the fuck down, bitch." Attribute points! She would gain attribute points to spend! Glancing around her rather spartan room, Syd took a moment to plan her next course of action. Leveling up, so far she''d gotten experience from homework, and chores. Also, very little from walking. Basically, do stuff, get stuff. "Speaking of doing stuff..." she trailed off while shutting the window down with another thought. Her stunning blue eyes locked onto ''Katie''s'' lithe form, imagining the thrill, the scandal, the romance of sleeping with a secret agent was starting to cloud her judgement. So it was no surprise she soon found herself climbing down her balcony, sneaking through the back yard, scaling a rusty barbed wire fence, and shimming up a drain pipe. "Good morning," ''Katie'' practically purred. The buxom redhead had obviously seen Syd''s rather hurried approach. "I thought today was a school day?" "Fuck school." Syd purred, inching closer to ''Katie''. "I''d rather fuck you," she whispered into the spy''s ear. The morning routine for one of her school days got bent all out of shape at that point. This was far more important, she was ''grinding'' after all. It''s what all good gamers do. *Ding!*

Sydney absently ran her hands through the secret agent''s comfy sheets, perfect covers for the middle of spring. She was actually a bit baffled at the moment, for the first time she had outlasted ''Katie''. In fact, she felt like she could go a few more rounds, and nothing says go like bonus attribute points. "What''s gotten into you?" ''Katie'' giggled quietly as Syd began to kiss the back of her neck. Giggles turned to moaning as Syd worked her knuckles into the small of ''Katie''s'' back. The young gamer took a moment to consider her eloquent response. "Hormones." Katie growled and rolled over, pouncing on Syd, the tables had turned. "Can''t have that, can we?"

Sydney carefully observed the disheveled woman next to her. She decided that whatever was going on could wait. In an effort to reward the woman for her attention, Sydney began to knead her knuckles into ''Katie''s'' back again, higher up this time. "I''m really beat Syd..." "I know," Sydney responded. "I''m just giving you a massage, that''s all." ''Katie'' deflated happily and surrendered to the attention. "Thanks, hand me my phone so we can call you in sick." "Oh, right..." Sydney would rather not admit she had completely forgotten about school. If you don''t arrive by twelve they tend to contact guardians. Wouldn''t do to have mother and father dearest panicking at work about their missing daughter. It was another few minutes of relative peace until Sydney got her next big shock. Just as Syd was about to get frisky again, she was rudely interrupted. *Ding!*
A new Passive Skill has been generated: Massage!
Massage (Passive) Lv.1 ~ 1.78%
Massage is an ancient skill used through the ages to relieve fatigue. It''s now possible for you to cure body or joint related negative status effects.
-Your target''s fatigue recovery increases significantly. -Gets rid of 0.05% fatigue per second.
Sydney barely glanced at the effects before returning her focus to the task at hand. All of a sudden she knew, somehow she just knew what to do. It was like she could feel where her palms, fingers, and knuckles should be. Judging by the appreciative humming that ''Katie'' was now giving her, the skill really was doing its job. "I''m gonna head to the convenience store, want anything?" Sydney asked as she dismounted ''Katie''. "Hot pretzel, nap," ''Katie'' replied lazily. Sydney rolled the woman over and pressed their bodies together, with a searing, suffocating kiss, she said goodbye. The shocked, and very miffed look that ''Katie'' gave here on the way out was well worth it. Teasing someone who has a preference for domination can be very entertaining. Syd would never admit it, but she always loved ''Katie''s'' payback.
One borrowed set of clothes later, and a quick shower, saw Sydney happily waltzing out of ''Katie''s'' house. It was kind of cute being the one who wasn''t worn out for once. Syd, without really thinking too much, decided that she''d wait till she was in the privacy of her room to check out what else she could do as ''The Gamer''. Of course that would have been great and all, if she didn''t just happen upon something that made her wanna beat her head against the nearest wall. So the streets were empty, as per usual on a weekday. No cars, or anything in their small residential block. Just a bunch of alleyways that lead to the main road. Despite having used the alleys plenty of times to get to her destination, Syd was overcome by a vague sense of dread. *Daa-da-da-dun!*

Through continuous observation, a skill to find target''s information, ''Observe'', has been created.
Junk Nibbler Lv.2 HP: 40 MP: 0
Rat that lives off left behind scraps and trash.
As soon as ''Observe'' kicked in she sighed with relief. Not super strong or anything, just a couple of rats. The first rat approached in a straight line only to be curb stomped. Sydney took a moment to shake off the meat paste she''d just turned one very poor rodent into. "Eww..." she commented listlessly. "Ouch!" Quickly turning she stomped on the little ankle biting bastard. Half a second later another one took a bite. Now thoroughly pissed off, Sydney started stomping and hopping around. The rats were no match for her mighty sneakers of death. *Ding!*

A few minutes later Sydney was panting and glaring at the ground where her prey had just vanished. They literally dissolved in spherical orbs of light and floated away after dying. The glare, turned to open mouthed gaping at that point. Scattered where a few of the rats had been, was money... real looking money. At that point it dawned on her that the status screen had very clearly shown a money option. Gingerly picking up the dollar bills, she opened her status screen again, then pushed the money into it. With a slight glow the money phased right fucking through. With wide eyes she quickly reached back in and withdrew the money. Standing there silently, she let out a forlorn sigh, opened her wallet, and deposited all but fifty dollars.

Since she had full health after getting bitten, and her bloody ankles had already healed... clothing and all, Syd continued on her way to the convenience store.
You have left an instance!
Rubbing her eyes tiredly Syd quickly entered the store, bought her soda and a pretzel, then promptly ran all the way back home. There was a slight trip and fall involved somewhere along the line thanks to developing the [Sprint] active skill. Aside from that slightly embarrassing moment, there was no further trouble involved in getting back to her room. Unless you count trouble as a thirty second french kiss where your spy neighbor tries to lure you back into her home. Nevermind, it was trouble, especially when that damned busty spy made sure she knew there was nothing on under her t-shirt. So after her tactical retreat, in which she purple nurple attacked a spy, Syd was relaxing at her desk while looking over the blank screen of a custom gaming laptop. God she loved having nerds for parents. Especially nerds who can build their own computers. She could just imagine how ecstatic one of them would be over getting ''The Gamer''. Honestly, after that encounter with rats, it became perfectly clear that there''s more to this than fun and games. Seriously, the ability to summon personalized battlefields in the middle of nowhere, at random, against god knows what? No thanks, dammit. ''Oh, well...'' she thought, ''survival first, bitching later.'' Syd downed half her soda and let out a small burp, it was times like this that she forgot her manners and rules. One rule was to not leave soda right next to her laptop on the desk, but she did it anyway. With a hop, and a skip, Syd dove through the air and landed with a ''omph'' on her bed. Rapid thoughts rushed through Syd''s mind as she reviewed her memory about role playing games in general, and what sort of things you were capable of doing as a ''Gamer''. Listing them off in her head she decided that the two main features she''d need to check out first were inventory and skills. Once again, with a simple thought she was faced with a direct inventory screen. Aside from having ninety-nine tabs for thousands of items, there were places for various pieces of equipment, including weapons... Less than ten minutes later, Sydney was messing with a [Crowbar] and [Broom]. Aside from the expected descriptions neither had any sort of offensive stats like physical damage. ''Interesting, most interesting...'' For shits and giggles, Syd swiped a frying pan on her way back. A minute later she was staring at a skill list. Clicking on them showed the ones she''d stumbled on earlier today, as well as a few passives that must of generated at the same time as ''The Gamer''. Two of those caught her eye, mainly because they explained the weird shit that had been happening to her.
A Gamer''s Mind (Passive) Lv.MAX
Allows the user to calmly and logically think things through. Allows peaceful state of mind. Immunity to psychological status effects.
A Gamer''s Body (Passive) Lv.MAX

Looking down at herself for a few moments brought about a wry and hollow laugh. "Am I even human anymore?" Feeling just a bit stressed, but obviously not capable of surrendering to her emotions because of ''A Gamer''s Mind'', left Sydney with just one option ¡ª feeling like crap. Now when Syd feels like crap she usually reads a trashy smut novel, that always helped before she learned the wicked ways of adult women. Recently, Syd would head over to ''Katie''s'' house for a quickie if she had a crummy day. Since the last time she saw her spy lover their confrontation ended with a titty twister, Syd decided that discretion would be the better part of valour today, and she should check out her old books. However, once again, doing something mundane such as sorting through her books, brought another startling realization.

Without a second thought she hit, decline, and dropped the book. Thanks to [Bucking Broncos] Sydney got up and left behind her stash of smutty novels. Across the room, next to her desk, was something much better. Books with far more useful information lined the shelves of her miniature library.

A new Sustained Skill has been generated: Meditate!
Meditate (Sustained) Lv.1 ~ 0%
Boosts mana regeneration. Entering combat with this skill active will automatically deactivate it.
-Passive mana regen +1% -Active mana regen + 10%
Sydney quickly activated meditate with the intention of leveling what was basically a free and useful skill for training. Especially if she could use magic. It was actually that line of thought that led her back to the trusty old internet. As soon as her butt was in one very comfy leather chair, Syd was surfing the web, refreshing her memory on old games and stories she''d enjoyed. Anything that had even the barest mention of magic that she could remember. At first she started with her favorite style, magecraft. Unfortunately, the whole ''a magus walks with death'' and complicated use of magic circuits turned her off. By the time she got around to materia, Syd realized she was going about this the wrong way. So instead of looking for just the best magic, or her favorites, she started looking for magic that doesn''t depend on things like books, items, or unique abilities. Sydney spent the better part of an hour thinking about magic, and figured that if she was in fact capable of using it, then raw elemental manipulation should be the first thing to try. So here she was, staring at a lit candle, releasing her inner pyromaniac. ''Burn, burn, burn, burn, baby, burn...'' Two hours later she''d been thoroughly exhausted, and made no progress whatsoever. At some point her mind had wandered to what else she could try to do with the other common schools of magic. One use for magic definitely stood out among the rest. ''God I can''t wait to flip skirts with my mind!'' It happened so quickly that she almost missed it. As soon as the thought of beautiful women''s skirts fluttering about helplessly to her whims occurred, it happened, there was a pull from somewhere within. It wasn''t much, just a slight pinch, then it was gone. In fact, the candle wasn''t lit anymore, even if she could hardly call the burned out blob of wax a candle at this point. Using the knowledge from her meditation book, she centered herself quickly and tried to identify the feeling again. There was definitely something foreign within her body, something new that came with ''A Gamer''s Body''. It was so obvious that she couldn''t believe she''d missed it before. Hours of staring at a fucking candle and all she had to do was focus on meditation for a second. As Syd continued to mentally poke and prod that strange addition, she became more aware of everything around her. Crickets chirping, frogs croaking, soft humming from her sleeping laptop, a mechanical spinning from deep within the aircondition vents. Cold air blowing against her t-shirt, two sensitive points rubbing said t-shirt, a braless spy within walking distance waiting to punish her... ''Focus, bitch, focus... goosfraba...'' In a sudden rush, the mana within her pulled roughly and snapped like a rubber band. The air that was blowing on her began to swirl all around. *Ding!* When the familiar sound hit her she smiled so widely that it would''ve put the cheshire cat to shame. Slowly opening her eyes, she gazed upon her just rewards.

Glancing off to the side revealed that she had swirled away twenty-five percent of her mana on that little bit of pure manipulation. Although, Syd couldn''t complain about the results, even if it left her feeling a bit hollow. Thinking back to her earlier days as a kid, she''d always loved mage characters in video games. Her favorites were the archmage style ones that could conjure any element for any situation. It really wouldn''t do to be specialized in a single category, then end up dead because you were up against something immune to your element. Worse still, immune to your element and highly resistant to physical damage. Sydney vividly remembered one rpg where party members gave her the boot for not having bought all of the spells, it would seem that being a sexy cat chick is not enough for some people. As a black mage, she hadn''t bothered buying the latest level eighteen thunder spell because she was roleplaying. Such a shameful display that was, so embarrassing that she had never played again. ''No, this won''t do at all.''

Chapter 2: ~Get Smart~ Chapter 2: ~Get Smart~ In order to get her mind off the fact that she may or may not have lost her mind, Sydney focused on the task at hand. Namely, how to alter gravity and life. Two primal forces that nobody has any right to be messing with. Her best guess for gravity was to begin reviewing her old physical science textbook. She had already tried to just imagine objects being heavier or lighter, and that didn''t do a damn thing. Life magic on the other hand was probably healing, at least, that''s what she assumed it would be. Thanks to ''A Gamer''s Body'' her wounds, like the rat bites, would heal as long as her health regenerated. So it couldn''t really hurt to cut herself a little and dump mana into the wound. As soon as that thought occurred to Syd, she pulled a pair of scissors out of her desk drawer and nicked a finger. ''Ow, ow, ow,'' she internally shouted. ''Correction, it can hurt!'''' Once more, Syd closed her eyes and found her center. Same as before, she could clearly sense the mana within her. Instead of snapping and leaving her body like it had when manipulating elements, the mana extended a thin tendril up her arm and into the wounded finger. As soon as she felt something happening her eyes shot open. Instead of healing, it just got worse. The blood began to heat up and bubble painfully, causing her eyes to fly wide open. As soon as she panicked it shot out in spurts, like a small geyser.

Gravitational force = (G * m1 * m2) / (d squared) It was a humbling experience for Syd, reading theories of gravity, peeking into the mind of a three hundred year old scientist. G, the gravitational constant. Gravity is everywhere, simple as that. The objects, m1 and m2. The attraction between any two objects, between their particles, their mass. Distance, d squared. Mind boggling to her, but not completely out there.

It wasn''t the most popular theories that caught her attention in the end. It was the ones that couldn''t be proven. You can''t prove what you can''t observe, after all. So here she was, pondering the existence of gravitons, gravitational waves, and what such things were theorized to do. Gravitons were believed to be particles that caused objects to be attracted to one another. While it might be worth her while to attempt to create artificial gravitons, that seemed like a bit of a long shot. So here she was, attempting to sense gravitational waves, also known as gravitational radiation ¡ª gravity generated when an object is moved by external force. A ''lesson in futility'', her father would call it.

Since slinging around mana wasn''t helping, Syd, decided to look into what she assumed was the opposite of gravity, weightlessness. Oh how wrong she was, there is no such thing, nothing in the universe is weightless. If it doesn''t have weight, it doesn''t exist. Microgravity, as the smart people call it. You never touch the ground because you''re in constant free fall. The damn earth is spinning, curving away from you.
Intellect + 1
Gravity manipulation sounds dangerous, very painfully dangerous. Removing something from the gravitational pull of earth would probably send it flying at whatever the rate is that earth spins. ''Best not to fuck with earth''s gravitational pull...''
Wisdom + 4
Syd was sort of confident that the goddess of gravity and mischief wouldn''t send her on a wild goose chase here, so maybe she was just overthinking things. Maybe, the answer was as simple as creating small amount of artificial gravity, no, not creating gravity, but manipulating mass! "Gravity magic is purely mass manipulation, isn''t it?" she voiced her theory aloud. *Ding! Ding! Ding! Ding! Ding! Ding! Ding!*

As if getting spammed by windows wasn''t enough, a huge book landed on her head knocking Sydney the fuck out.
When Sydney first woke up on her bedroom floor she calmly cycled through all the notice windows, pointedly ignoring the ornate purple and steel encased tome sitting next to her. As soon as she read [Blank Crest] she freaked out. "Yes, yes, yes, yes!" she shouted with reckless abandon. "Honey," came her mother''s amused voice. "I know it''s fun, but try to keep the volume down." The color quickly drained out of Syd''s face, then, half a second later she was blushing something fierce. It would seem her parents had arrived home at some point during her ''nap''. Sure enough, the sun was setting, she''d lost at least three or four hours because of that damn book. Glaring at the offender in question brought up a description.
Gravitas Grimoire
An ancient compilation of all known gravity spells, rituals, and tactics. This grimoire has been passed to well known magicians throughout all of time and space. When manipulating gravity beware of temporal distortions. Monsters, radiation, and demons have been known to spawn from temporal distortions.
''That doesn''t sound ominous at all...'' This novel is published on a different platform. Support the original author by finding the official source. With a ginger touch she picked the book up and flipped it to a random page. Well random until she saw a nude woman sketched on the page, she just had to read that. Of course, the first thing Syd found is a spell meant to keep breasts from sagging through the use of a perpetual localized field that alters the mass of one''s assets.

Quickly backtracking to the beginning, she started flipping through pages again. On the seventh page, was the spell she wanted, no, needed. Changing your bodies BMI, or body mass index. Once again, when she finished reading the specifics, instead of trying to perform the actual spell manually, a window popped back up.

Sydney dashed to the bathroom and hopped on her scale. As soon as it read 112 lbs she shuffled off and let it reset. Activating the spell and dropping her BMI 1 %, she stepped back on. Sure enough, she weighed a bit less. No longer was Syd thinking of weighing less or having perky breasts forever. She had read what the spell was designed for, what the creator had in mind. They had never quite reached their goal, but by the gods were they close. Flight, the crazy mage who made this spell wanted to soar through valleys and mountains unrestrained. Things were different here, she knew that with just a bit of tech, and a high enough skill level... Surely someone who weighed about thirty pounds could find a way to fly. That''s assuming that there isn''t an actual flight spell somewhere in the Gravitas Grimoire. After messing around for a few minutes to get used to the odd feeling, she pulled up her status screen to check on her mana and mana regeneration.

From the fact that her mana was dropping, she could tell that there wasn''t enough regen going on. Thinking of what intellect and wisdom do brought up the windows for both attributes.
Intellect
Increases your avatar''s ability to use Magic. Higher intellect will result in a boost to memory and comprehension.
Effects: Increases maximum mana. [10/1] Increases magic attack. Reduces chances of magic being resisted.
Wisdom
Increases your avatar''s ability to recover from fatigue. Higher wisdom will result in better critical thinking and intuition.
Effects: Increases health regeneration. [5.3% / min] Increases mana regeneration. [12.19% / min]
Sydney let out a pained laugh when she read the wisdom description. BMI manipulation was taking 3 mp/sec so 180 mp/min. Her regen is only doing about 95 mp/min at the moment. So the question is whether she should boost her maximum mana to raise the regen bonus, or boost the regen rate itself. After deciding not to over think it since either way will get her closer to what she wants, Syd opened her status back up and dropped 23 points into intellect.

Syd was very happy to see that she''d overshot her goal by quite a bit. Also, she was scared with the sudden realization that she''d just calculated everything in her head. A few days ago there was no way she would''ve known that her current mana regen is just shy of 271 mp/min. Not without a calculator at least. Speaking of being smarter than she should be, Sydney suddenly realized that she''d lost sight of her original goal in all of this. The purpose was to get stronger so she doesn''t get killed. At some point she had gotten off track ¡ª Syd was blaming goddesses for that. Without wasting another moment she quickly sifted through the pages of her grimoire. If she didn''t have time to learn something that could kill, she would at least get a spell to slow things down so she could run away. Sure enough, on the fourth page there was a complicated diagram with the description ''Gravitic Ring''.

Sifting through the familiar rush of information as it hit her was becoming easier, probably because of intellect. Even as she began to understand exactly how the spell worked, her mind focused outward as well, she could smell dinner cooking. Her stomach took that moment to let its displeasure at being ignored known. All she''d had to eat today were ''Katie'' and goddess cookies. Sydney got up and rubbed the bridge of her nose again, she''d made a lot of progress, nothing she could complain about. A bonus was that none of it, well almost none of it was dangerous. She''d have to figure out what it takes to get bloodstains out of a carpet floor later, in fact, why the hell didn''t she just cut herself in the bathroom? Shaking her head in resignation, Syd made her way out the door and down the stairs. Going down the stairs almost became a problem when she got hit with a double whammy. Gravity affinity and BMI leveling up at nearly the same moment. The windows were still taking some getting used to. As soon as the windows appeared her mind went through some rapid calculations on reflex, it was that moment she realized that casting ''Gravitic Ring'' every thirty seconds as well wouldn''t drain her dry. That would push her mana regen almost to the limit, but not quite. Not being one to waste an opportunity, she sifted through the spell''s information and cast it on her bedroom upstairs. After she fired ''Gravitic Ring'' off, Sydney entered the kitchen. Standing together as usual when they cook was her mother and father. One chopping vegetables while the other rests her head on his shoulder. It was moments like this that caused Syd to crave her own heated romance, boy did that turn out wrong. "Mom, dad," she began, "how was work?" Her father''s head of messy black hair swiveled a bit to the right, no need to disturb his wife. "Same old, same old." "What ya'' cookin?" "Ratatouille, hungry?" Sydney blanched. Logically speaking, she knew that ratatouille has nothing to do with rats, but... "Not really, I already ate before you guys got home." Her father nodded his head and went back to chopping tomatoes. Formulating a plan in her mind was surprisingly easy at this point. "You know our neighbor, the one that lives behind of us?" Her mom''s long brunette locks shifted for a moment. "Mrs. Snow?" ''Katie Snow a.k.a. Riley Tombs,'' Syd mentally scoffed. "Yeah her, once in a while I see her working out. I was thinking of asking her to teach me a few things. Would you mind if I bothered her?" Her dad added his two cents. "It can never hurt to ask Syndra," he playfully remarked. Syd''s forehead met the dinner table she was sitting at. "Mom told you I asked about that, huh?" All he did was bob his head up and down in response. "I can understand mom being on pain relief drugs while I was being born, but why were you high too?" A rueful chuckle resounded throughout the kitchen. "Your mom isn''t just a beast in the sack, she broke me fucking hand while you were still in there." *Daa-da-da-dun!*
You have sensed a massive amount of Killing Intent!
Syd quickly attempted to wipe that last sentence from her mind only to realize that her memory was a shitload better than it used to be. With a pained sigh she excused herself, abandoning her father to his imminent doom. "I''m gonna go see Mrs. Snow, bye!" The sickly sweet voice of Syd''s mother trailed after her. "Take your time honey, a few hours at least..." Sydney decided that she would do just that, take her damn time.

Chapter 3: ~Strange Bedfellows~ Chapter 3: ~Strange Bedfellows~ Sydney took a long time getting to her secret lover''s home. Instead of cutting through the backyard and hopping the fence like usual, she just strolled around the block. Syd honestly felt like taking her time was in everyone¡¯s best interest. Still, going around the block to your neighbor''s house can only take so long. *Knock knock!* "Coming!" The door swung open moments later to reveal ''Katie'' in her usual suit. Seriously, so many things about the woman made sense now. "Busy?" Syd chirped. ''Katie'' gave her one of those smiles that do funny things to her head, or at least they used to. "You actually caught me heading out, have to give another consultation. You''re always welcome to stay though. This shouldn''t take me more than an hour." Sydney wondered what she really meant by ''consultation'', but her newfound critical thinking wouldn''t allow her to ask. In all likelihood, this woman could kill her with a spoon. So, instead of calling her on it, Syd just went for the usual approach. "I was thinking I could get away with spending the night here, I''ll call my parents and tell them that I convinced you to show me something." That got a raised eyebrow out of the spy. Syd was quick to explain. "I told them that I''d ask you to teach me a few things to keep in shape." At that point her voice morphed into a sultry purr. "Aside from what you''ve already taught me." ''Katie'' shook her head while smiling. The busty redhead quickly gathered her suitcase, and smacked Syd on her rear as she walked out the door. Sydney let out a whispered ''goodbye'' as she watched ''Katie'' walk away, by the goddess, she loved to watch that woman walk away. As soon as the door was shut and locked Syd couldn''t help but collapse into the nearest chair. ''Katie''s'' home gave new meaning to the word spartan, so the nearest chair meant going all the way to her living room. Sitting there gazing at the ceiling brought up a few old memories, specific ones about ''Katie''. She''d gotten the distinct impression that the woman didn''t want someone falling in love with her, then, when Syd had confessed, that impression turned out to be spot on. ''I''m sorry,'' she had said. ''You don''t really love me,'' she had claimed. Syd couldn''t help but laugh at herself now. Once again, hindsight is twenty-twenty and all that bull. ''You''re a spy,'' Syd thought bitterly, ''of course I couldn''t love you if I didn''t know the real you.'' It kinda sucked, her first love was now circling the drain. ''Should it bother me that my first love turned into my first fuck buddy?'''' Her ruminations of the past were interrupted by a grumbling belly. Syd had forgotten to eat again...
Fun fact, eating became more than just eating. Syd was still getting that surreal feeling whenever she attained a well fed buff. Things like enhanced vitality for half an hour. Stuff like that was still throwing her for a loop, then again, you can only get so used to bizarre shit in less than a week. It had been half an hour now so she still had some alone time. Not really being one to just laze about, Syd got to work. She quickly walked right by the stairwell, pointedly ignoring some erotic memories that her newfound intellect was deciding to recall in vivid detail. Past the stairwell was the seldom used home gym, one of ''Katie''s'' only requirements for when she moved in. The woman hadn''t realized she''d be doing her morning workouts in her room most of the time. The home gym actually had a few useful things for her. She couldn''t use the weights without a spotter, ''Katie'' had made sure she knew that. They''d only been in here twice, and that was ''Katie'' trying to get Syd to workout and maintain her ''youthful figure''. Now that she''d become a game character, and had some seriously messed up mechanics in her life, Syd definitely saw the appeal in working out more. So ignoring the weights, Syd made her way to a free incline bench. By the time she got there her mistake was obvious, she''d forgotten to bring a change of clothes with her, workout clothes would''ve been nice. Syd''s wisdom was also telling her that it would be a waste of time to run out for a change of clothing, so she just stripped naked on the spot and started doing sit-ups. It had absolutely nothing to do with the fact that she also realized what would happen if ''Katie'' found her working out in the buff, nothing at all... *Ding!*

Sydney laughed maliciously and rubbed her paws together while reading the quest information. The excited little pervert quickly got to work when she realized that her first piece of magecraft was on the line here. Forget the inevitable fun, magecraft! Out in the hallway Sydney came to an unexpected stop. She had to stare into ''Katie''s'' full body mirror. Syd hadn''t really noticed how much she''d changed in the past few months since meeting ''Katie''. She had quickly shed her leftover baby fat thanks to frequent ''physical activity'', and lost her pale skin from being indoors too much. Her straight black hair had also gained a few light streaks, and now, there were no longer bags underneath her azure eyes. Syd really hadn''t noticed the gradual changes till now, she supposed this was also thanks to her improving memory. ''In fact,'' she groped herself, ''yup, definitely bigger now.''

Syd was damn thankful the book didn''t just pop out of thin air here. She hadn''t considered that bit. Glancing back at ''Katie'' left her speechless. The woman was standing there in some very attractive black lace. "I thought I''d join the club," she explained, waltzing towards Syd in the sultry way that only a real woman can. Syd herself was having trouble gathering her thoughts at the moment. "I''ve been running for hours here, I''m really beat..." she muttered, but it didn''t work, ''Katie'' was still stalking her prey, "... I''m really hot and sweaty, and I even brushed a nipple once by accident, they are way too sensitive right now!" It would seem that was definitely not the right thing to say, because ''Katie'' got a very familiar gleam in her eyes. A look that says you''re boned, just give up. With a yip and two squeals, Syd was pinned to the mats and completely boneless.
Syd was awoken by the soft morning light of dawn peeking in. At some point she had gotten a bath, and some rather comfy blankets, other than that it''s pretty much a blur. Flipping over said blankets revealed a rather smug looking ''Katie''. "That''s not how I planned for it to go yesterday..." "Oh, you had a plan?" Syd pouted for a moment before smiling down at ''Katie''. "It was a glorious plan, you would''ve like it." "I''m sure." ''Katie'' nodded with far too much enthusiasm for it to be anything but sarcasm. "Not that I''m complaining or anything, but when did you get a tramp stamp?" Syd''s [Blank Crest] had actually slipped her mind. "Anyways," she deflected, "I was hoping that after you show me some exercises ¡ª most of which I know by now from just watching ¡ª we could, maybe, try something else?" ''Katie'' was enjoying the way Syd had started to massage her shoulders, so much so that she almost missed the question. "What have you got in mind? "Mind teaching me how to fight?" Syd was expecting many things to happen in the next few moments. ''Katie'' yelping in surprise and rolling off the bed, was definitely not one of them. As she tried, and failed to stop laughing, Syd asked, "what was that about?" ''Katie'' spent a few moments staring off into space in a way that Syd found vaguely familiar. "Is something wrong?" ''Katie'' swiped her hand in what appeared to be a natural motion while looking back at Syd. "Nothing, I was just..." ''Katie'' stopped speaking when she''d seen what Syd had done, or rather how she had reacted. The moment ''Katie'' had swiped her hand Syd got another window in her face. *Ding!*

"If you''d never seen it before, then you would''ve gaped for more than half a second," she began in a tone that sent chills up Syd''s spine, "and if you didn''t see it at all, then you wouldn''t have looked like a deer in the headlights. Is there something you want to tell me, Sydney?" If you encounter this story on Amazon, note that it''s taken without permission from the author. Report it. Syd smiled wryly at the woman that had crawled back on top of her. This time, rather than fitting together snugly, she was definitely being pinned. "Don''t suppose I can convince you that this isn''t happening, and you''re still dreaming because I gave you a world-shattering orgasm last night?" ''Katie'' almost managed to keep the smile off her face, but Syd had been watching, and she''d seen the corner of her lover''s lips twitch. "No, what are you?" Syd made her best serious business face. "Human..." ''Katie'' definitely didn''t find that amusing if the increased pressure on her solar plexus was any indication. "... I''m serious, this just sort of happened. Also, what the fuck? There are non-humans running around here?" As a spy, ''Katie'', had been trained to spot lies, and Syd honestly didn''t appear to be lying to her. "Full disclosure, Sydney, leave nothing out." "Is it wrong that this is really turning me on?" Syd asked truthfully. ''Katie'' couldn''t help it that time, she laughed, then glared back at Syd. "I love what laughing does to your..." *Daa-da-da-dun!*

"Five days ago I was having this crazy dream, I''d thought nothing of it at first. You know, just figured we played Helios Online a little too much that night. I dreamt that I was in the game, fighting monsters and hanging with my friends, normal shit." Syd could see ''Katie'' giving her a ''hurry up'' look, so she cut to the point. "I woke up as a game character, totally weird right?" ''Katie'' didn''t bother saying anything, she just dug her knuckles into Syd''s ribs. "Ow, ok, ok, so basically I''ve got all this weird role playing game stuff happening in real life. The long vacation weekend had just started, school was out, and I freaked. It''s why you didn''t see me all weekend, I ran off to be alone for a while. See if I could get my head screwed on straight. Then I come back, wake up, get ready for school, and spot you..." ''Katie'' had the decency to blush. "You ''spot'' me all the time, why did that stop you?" "Above my head I can see Syndra Shyael, a.k.a, the name I didn''t know was my real name. Don''t ask, I''ll tell you later. Guess what I saw above your head?" ''Katie'' had been getting paler and paler as Syd went on. " LV.17 Riley Tombs," she finished bitterly. "Something you want to tell me, Riley?" Syd saw some of the tension leave Riley''s body, the woman wasn''t coiled like a spring anymore. As soon as Riley''s chin was resting on Syd''s chest, and the two were comfortably entwined again, she spoke. "It''s my job, it''s part of the oath. You don''t tell, you can''t tell, that''s all, so don''t take it personally." Syd ran her fingers through Riley''s ginger hair. "You don''t seem surprised about the weird shit happening to me?" "I believe you," she said, quietly, "it''s definitely one of the more unique ones, and it''s weird, but there have been tons of powers that manifest in random people. They always get involved in my side of the world, a side I''d hoped you would never see. You''re not leaving my house until we sit down and go over some maps. There are places you need to know to avoid now." Syd giggled far too much for how serious Riley''s last statement was. "Sorry, sorry, it''s just that I''ve been avoiding going anywhere all day. After I met up with you this morning I got the ''massage'' passive skill. Things kind of snowballed from there, I literally ended up in a random encounter fighting seven of the biggest little junk nibbling rats I have ever seen." Riley went pale again, she knew exactly what Syd had discovered, they played games together after all. "You got sucked into a random encounter?" Syd nodded sullenly. "Gods be damned ankle biting rat bastards." Riley stared right into Syd''s deep blue eyes with her own green orbs. It was so intense that Syd could feel the tension, they''d never gazed like this unless it was during the afterglow, this was something only real ''lovers'' do. "You don''t go anywhere alone anymore, okay?" Syd nodded dumbly, after gathering her wits again, she responded as frankly as she could. "Does this mean I get to know you now?" Riley was a bit taken aback, but she still managed a gentle smile. "I guess so." "What if I really love you, the real you?" Riley continued to stare at Syd, it was just so cute the way she was pensively biting her bottom lip. "Sex," she began, shocking Syd, "lots and lots of sex. Dating can wait a few weeks. That is, if you''d still want to be my mistress?" Syd wrapped her arms around Riley in a crushing hug, she''d totally missed the ''mistress'' bit. "As long as we still get to drag some random hapless girl home for a threesome now and then." Riley smacked Syd playfully. "Of course we can still have fun." *Ding!*

Syd actually ignored the sudden pop-up. "Oh, shit." "What?" "I have to tell my parents now. Ironclad rule number three: If you want to date a boy, you have to... ahh, nevermind." Syd smiled happily at the loophole in her parent''s rules. "Syd," Riley gave her a flat look. "Call me Syn. Love, do you have any idea how much your real name turns me on?" she asked, distracting Riley with a searing kiss. *Smack!* Riley glared at Syd who was nursing her aching head. "You''ve got parents that love you, don''t break any of their rules." Syd looked away, it was a very guilty look. "Okay, won''t break em''. If I end up madly in love with you, I''ll tell my parents before I confess ¡ª again. Deal?" "Deal, now tell me what you''ve figured out about your power so far." Syd decided to keep the brute hammer a secret till she goes to use it ¡ª purely for the laughs.
One hour later Sydney had finally finished recounting how her initial reactions and the previous day had gone for her. Riley found Syd''s ''Seduce the Spy quest'' particularly amusing. As if being bounced around by the now confirmed to be real gods and goddesses of the multiverse wasn''t enough. Thankfully, it would seem that sort of thing is extremely rare, and their interference is usually background noise at best. The only reason Syd was hearing about them in the first place was because of her unique power. "Syd, send me a party invite." Sydney stared at Riley with a blank expression for a moment before doing as told. A few seconds later there was a notice that her mentor had joined the party. Along with the notice there was a party screen for things like loot and experience distribution, hell, there was even a level sync feature. As Syd checked out the party features, Riley was playing with her status screen. That, in and of itself, was rather amusing. Having a beautiful naked woman sitting in bed with her, playing with see-through windows, absently swaying about. "You''ve got leftover attribute points?" Riley interrupted her musing. "Yup." "Fifteen vitality, strength and dexterity." Syd didn''t even bother questioning Riley, she just trusted the more experienced woman''s judgement. It had nothing to do with the fact that Riley was currently topless, nothing at all. Suddenly, her body began to change. It was a bizarre sensation to say the least, and from the look on Riley''s face, just as strange to watch. Syd could literally feel her muscles twisting into corded knots, pulling tightly, then releasing the built up tension. Once all was said and done, she felt healthier and more in control of her body than ever before. *Ding!*

"Judo is a Japanese martial arts style focused on grappling, joint locks, and throws." Riley had stricken a serious sensei pose, sitting in what was obviously seiza. "I think that once you get some more versatile gravity magic, judo, shall complement it nicely." Sydney reluctantly held up her hand to stop Riley. "As much as I would love to spend all day today wrestling with you, especially in our current attire. I have to go to school." "I totally forgot about that," Riley replied honestly. "Okay, quick rules. I''m going to and from school with you. We will only walk directly there, then right back after school. Do not, whatever you do, react to any students that you notice are not strictly humans." Syd smiled wryly. "Not human?" "You''ll see it yourself soon, but there are a few power holders and martial clans centered around our city," she explained patiently. "Students will include vampires, lycanthropes, nekomata, and other species. DO. NOT. REACT. TO. THEM. Are we clear?" "Crystal, wait a sec. You knew that a lot of students at my school aren''t human right?" "Affirmative." Syd cocked her head sideways. "You do know that most of the girls I brought back here with me, girls that we''ve slept with, were my classmates right?" Riley groaned out loud. "Is that how you were picking girls up so quickly?" "Yup," Syd chuckled ruefully, "you only said, ''As long as they''re eighteen, it''s okay.'' Remember Lucia? That athletic beauty, golden eyes, really firm ass, wouldn''t kiss." Riley collapsed back onto her bed, she''d loved that ass, you don''t forget an ass like that. "I''d bet money she''s a lycanthrope."
Wisdom + 1
"I''m a terrible spy, a failure," Riley groaned. Syd absently toyed with Riley''s thighs. "Mind if I help you get dressed?" "Yes, I do." Riley answered. "Don''t pout like that, there isn''t enough time. We both know you can''t help kissing me in places that always end up with us back in bed." Sydney had the good grace to look a bit bashful. She''d been raised with some morals after all, no matter how much meeting Riley last summer had corrupted them.

Chapter 4: ~The Other Woman~ Chapter 4: ~The Other Woman~ Sydney rushed back home to get ready for school, thankfully mom or dad had left breakfast sitting for her. Modest portions of scrambled eggs, hashbrowns and mozzarella cheese took less than three minutes to scarf down. A cold shower took less than five minutes, cold showers are for days when time is sparse. Syd always ends up lounging around in hot water, it''s too damn comfy. Getting dressed hasn''t been a problem since last summer. Meeting Riley had changed that too. Syd just didn''t care as much anymore, she wasn''t dressing to attract people, she was wearing clothes that made her comfortable. Namely, no more tight shirts and short skirts, no more low cut dresses. She''d stuffed most of her risque clothing in boxes and brought out the comfort wear. Jeans that don''t squeeze her buns and t-shirts that refrain from putting her melons on display. The stuff meant to impress was being worn underneath, no need to show that off for strangers. Surprisingly enough, her newfound attitude had gone over well with the ''boys''. Sydney had no idea what the hell they were thinking, they made no sense. It was pure luck that girl''s also started noticing her ''unique'' attitude. You know how they say women mature faster than men? They were lying, women mature a lot faster than men. That, or she was just such a huge lesbian that their immaturity didn''t bother her like it did back when she was hunting boys. Syd wasn''t sure which it was, and she didn''t care. So here they were, Syd and Riley, heading to high school. "You''re not gonna sit outside my school all day are you?" Syd asked. Riley looked contemplative for a moment. "I''ll leave the party when we get there, just invite again when schools almost over and I''ll come pick you up." Syd was fine with that. "You know, I''ve been thinking about that time..." *Daa-da-da-dun!*
You have encountered Goblin x 4!
Even as she remained calm again, Syd couldn''t help but glare, the battle music was back. "Battle music! Really!?" Riley shouted in righteous indignation. Syd may have forgotten to mention the battle music, selective memory works that way. "That was my exact reaction..." Syd pulled out her crowbar and waited for the goblins to show up. As soon as she saw something coming around a corner Syd hit it with a grav ring. She hadn''t been expecting all four of the goblins to faceplant as soon as her spell hit them. Although, after the initial trip, they began to crawl forward.
Goblin Thug Lv.14 HP: 1120 MP: 0
Strange gas masks and large backpacks are the trademarks of this tiny beastman race, the Goblins. Many are gatherers or crafters, and they helped support the economy of many black markets.
"Huh," Syd remarked, "I probably should''ve tested whether or not I can walk around in there with them." Riley just shrugged and whipped out a glock. Syd had all of half a second to gape at the pistol before four solid shots were fired. Looking back at the goblins, each one of them had a new smoking hole in their gas masks. "That''s one way to do it..." Riley was now rubbing the bridge of her nose. She quickly holstered her weapon and stared at the dissolving goblins. "Did the music just go from battle music to reward screen music?" "Yes, I believe it did." Now that her thirty second spell was over, Syd made her way into the area that the goblins had been at. The drops nearly made her faint. "Riley, are those fat wads of cash!?" Riley nodded dumbly, she''d heard of the rats dropping a few bucks, but this was a little out there. "Is that a piece of zinc ore?" Once again, Riley nodded dumbly. Syd snagged all of it and, rather than counting, just stuffed the money into her status screen.

"$800 a pop..." Syd glanced at the still stunned C.I.A. agent. "... do I still have to go to school?" "Just a few more months Syd, then you can take a break. If you end up making money like this, you''ll have plenty of time to choose where you want to go to college." Sydney agreed with that assessment, may as well finish high school. While Syd gingerly placed the green piece of zinc ore into her inventory, the magecraft scroll caught her eye. As soon as it was in her hand there was another familiar message window.
You''ve examined the spell scroll, [Structural Analysis]
Would you like to learn the spell?

*Ding!*
A new Spell has been generated: Structural Analysis!
Structural Analysis Lv.1 ~ 0%
A basic spell developed as the first step in projection magecraft. Allows the user to grasp the inner structure of anything.
-Cooldown = 0 Seconds -Range = Touch -Od cost = Very Low -Mana cost = 2
Syd had honestly forgotten that some magecraft wouldn''t run off mana. In fact, if memory serves, almost all magecraft is initiated using odic source, then maintained through mana, the greater source. Magic circuits were used in the nasuverse to convert odic source into mana, and replenish the body''s odic source. The better your circuits, the more units of magical energy you''ve got. As soon as that thought hit her Sydney''s eyes went wide. So much so that Riley felt the need to interrupt her train of thought. "What''s wrong?" Syd laughed a bit awkwardly. "Well, I thought my calculations for mana regen were just a bit off. Then I remembered that magic circuits actually turn odic source into mana, so that''s where the little boost has been coming from. Thing is, the average magus has twenty-five units of magical energy, I''ve already got over two-thousand..." Riley, having been dragged into the whole fate stay/night thing by Syd, could only gape. "You''ve got to be kidding me." Riley''s shock turned to panic the second Syd threw her own shirt off and craned her neck over. "What are you doing!? We''re in the middle of a street!" Syd scoffed while continuing to glare at her own rear. "We''re in an instance, give me a second here." The [Blank Crest] was visible for some reason, even when not in use, so she had little to no problem examining it with [Observe].
Blank Crest
A custom crafted magical crest by the goddess, Lithriel. This perfect crest is highly adaptable and able to absorb knowledge of magecraft instantly. As with all magic crests, pieces of it can be transplanted to others.
-Blank, zero compatibility issues. -Circuits = 40 -Pristine Circuits = 10
"Welp, I''ve got fifty circuits to store and manage odic source. That''ll definitely make me a beast if I can get my hands on more magecraft." Syd shook her head to ward off thoughts of summoning a servant, she definitely had the mana to sustain one. "My gamer instincts are telling me start physical training and crafting, the fact that zinc showed up as a [Crafting Material] means I could do it." "We can worry what to do later," Riley interrupted. "For now, get to school."
They had split up just before reaching the front gates. The local high school wasn''t anything too out of the ordinary, at least, she hadn''t thought it was. Now that her eyes had been opened to the outer world, full of supernatural beings and what not, this school was anything but normal. Rather than normal, it was too ordinary to be an average high school. Syd realized that her school was exactly that, made to look as average as possible. Don''t draw scrutiny in any way, shape, or form. Everything, from the auditorium to the gymnasium, was utterly boring. Even the bench she was sitting on was a textbook bench, assembled for use, not looks. At least she was entertaining herself at the moment, watching people. No wonder she''d always found herself staring at other students, they were the only things interesting in this school, doubly so now that she could see what species they were. Just like Riley had warned her, one out of three students was something else. Lycanthropes, vampires, ghouls, and ghosts, what the hell. How had she not noticed something weird was going on here. Not that it bothered her, on the contrary, Syd just found this all terribly amusing. Riley wouldn''t have let her come here if they were violent, human eating, suck your brains out of a straw monsters. Syd was about to head into class when she spotted a familiar face. Said face made her do a spit take. Flowing rose gold strands of hair floated behind the delicate beauty known as Moira Valentine, her sharp porcelain features were, as usual, absent of any emotion. Sydney gave herself a mental high five while wiping chocolate milk off her chin. She''d totally went down on a vampire princess last week. Who''d have thought?
Sitting in class was a bit surreal. Instead of listening to her teachers during class, she was multi-tasking. Half of her mind was on reading through the textbook, which she could recite verbatim after a single reading now, and the other half was spying on people. The average level of human students was three to four, supernaturals were closer to level twenty. The ones that really stood out though, were what she liked to call ''Alphas''. Students like the vampire Moira, and lycanthrope Lucia. Yeah, she''d totally been right about Lucia. Anyways, their levels were at least double of the other supernaturals. They''d obviously been through some sort of training, and each race seemed to have a few of them hanging around. Every time Sydney spotted one, she made a note to get to know them better. It goes without saying that she ignored the male ones...
So another small tidbit had slipped Syd''s mind. In the middle of history she''d decided to try out ''Structural Analysis'' on her desk. There was something about using magecraft that causes pain because it''s unnatural, and is in opposition to the will of the root, or Gaia, or something like that. The problem was that in this reality, there is no root, no Gaia, no Akasha. The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident. As soon as Syd instinctively lit up her magic circuits to pour od into the spell, it hit her. Maybe if she''d just activated a single circuit, she would''ve been fine, but no, she lit them all up. So there they were, listening to some boring history shit, and she moaned, like really moaned. It felt good to turn those circuits on, without the will of the world pushing against her using od, there was just the nice sweet hum of her circuits. That would''ve been fine, if the damn goddess hadn''t stuck it on her tail bone. A blushing Syd, now the center of attention, couldn''t very well say, ''I got a very nice feeling on the spot where my lover enjoys dripping hot wax sometimes, and it gave me a few micro-orgasms.'' So she teared up, and claimed that she wasn''t feeling very well. Ah, ''women problems'', they get you out of just about anything. Of course, as Syd left with a clinic pass, she totally saw Lucia smirking at her. Thrice be damned werewolf could probably smell her arousal. Dammit...
When said werewolf showed up and dragged her off for ''lunch'', Syd knew she''d been caught. At least Lucia didn''t seem the type to gossip... and she had a nice bum. Maybe it would be in her best interest to get to know Lucia more. After all, Syd glanced up at Lucia''s player I.D. Lv. 72 Lucia Vulpanthorp This wolf is probably the highest level student around...
After her exhausting lunch Syd had taken refuge in the library. She was way too embarrassed to go near any other students without a shower. Damned heightened senses, how many werewolves had she hit on before? At least they never got mixed signals. In the library, instead of heading for her usual choice of literature ¡ª fantasy, supernatural, and romance ¡ª Syd dug out all of her textbooks. That''s right, she had an inventory screen now, so all she had to do was reach into her empty backpack, and whip em'' out when no ones looking. No more rushing to her locker during five minute breaks. By the time she heard the final bell ring, Syd had finished all of her books, thousands of pages gone, just like that. Not to mention six points in intellect and single wisdom point. She could definitely get used to this.
On the way home with Riley there were two more random encounters. As it turns out, bullets are not almighty. Their first encounter was with more goblins, and a few of them didn''t actually die in one head shot, one more surreal thing to add to the list. The second encounter started with buzzing, very loud, very unnerving buzzing. Within a minute there were nine swarms of wasps heading right for a fleeing Syd and Riley. The pair weren''t sure if they could actually flee from encounters without some sort of skill, but it turned out to be a moot point. On reflex Syd had dropped a grav ring right behind them as they fled. For future reference, wasps + gravity = splat. End of story. The vicious little buggers actually dropped wings, stingers, and honeycombs. Syd couldn''t help herself and bit down on one, it was nasty... In hindsight, she did get more money and level up.
"Quick question," Syd started, once they''d made it home, "are we an item now? Mutually exclusive?" Riley was desperately trying to think of a way to broach this rather sensitive subject. She failed, and blurted it out. "I''m married." Syd just blinked, twice. "That''s why I asked if you wanted to be my mistress, you know?" "Oh," Syd put it eloquently. So many things, making so much more sense. "Guy?" "Yeah, we have an understanding," she began, "I get lonely on long assignments, and he can''t always visit. I''m not allowed to sleep with other men, but..." "Women are fine," Syd finished for her. "Son of a bitch... I''m a mistress, I''m the other woman. Oh god I can see it now, ''Mom, dad, I want to date a married woman,'' they''d freak." "I''d actually be relieved, sad, but relieved if you turned me down," Riley interjected. "You kind of became work all of a sudden. I''m still wrapping my head around it." First love, dead, burned, pissed on, and buried. "Work?" "Giving an introduction to new power users, telling them who to seek out for help, teaching them a few basics, i.e. how to not get yourself killed. Other than that I get called in as a neutral party for negotiations between factions, and report back to my boss." Syd mulled that over for a moment, her wisdom sense was tingling. "You''re not supposed to have any interactions with me after this, are you?" Riley was the one looking guilty for once. "I could get in a lot of trouble if we keep meeting. I''m not supposed to influence the situation here in any way, and you''re not the sort to keep your nose out of a whole new world." Syd looked properly miffed. "I''m not that bad..." Riley raised one eyebrow at her and asked, "what did you do at school today?" "I started a mental list of the sexiest non-human plus clan member girls I could find, and accidentally got myself shagged by a werewolf." Syd buried her face to hide the blush she was getting. "What was the first thing you thought after realizing how much money you could make with this power?" "... I could afford to get my own place, seduce girls, bring em'' there, and have my wicked way with them," Syd admitted truthfully. "I''m so fuckin'' bad."
Syd landed on the gym''s floor again. It god damn hurt, and Riley wasn''t holding back because of ''A Gamer''s Body''. Syd was really glad there were mats all around, otherwise, she would''ve quit by now. Riley was laying a serious beat down on her ass, the woman had nearly twice her physical stats, and years of experience. It would seem that her mentor hadn''t taught anyone jack shit before, because this was just painful. She''d throw a punch, and end up flying over Riley''s shoulder. Try a tackle, and end up kissing the floor. How about a kick, nope, you just got swept off your other foot and ended up on your ass again. It was frustrating to say the least, realizing how outclassed she was. That frustration only turned to depression when Riley openly admitted that she''d always been more of a marksman than a fighter. God damn, she couldn''t even land a hit on a casual fighter. At some point Riley must have realized that Syd was about to give up, because the woman changed the game. Every so often the fighting would get dirty, tit punching was just enough to piss Syd off so that she''d keep coming back for more. [Endurance], [Second Wind], and [Stamina] were all getting a workout. She''d also picked up [Judo] at some point, and that was rising fast. It didn''t actually seem to be doing much, but as soon as she got a hold of Riley''s ass... "Stop Syd, what is judo?" Riley asked. "Judo is a Japanese martial arts style focused on grappling, joint locks, and throws." "So why, when it''s your turn to counter punches and kicks... are you throwing punches and kicks?" "My brain isn''t working at the moment. Too many rising stats," she lied with a straight face. Riley wasn''t buying it. "Syd, I''m teaching you how to fight. I have to throw you around..." "Yes, that would explain why you keep punching me in the tits," she snarked. Riley bellowed with laughter and began slapping her knees, she had been doing that on purpose. If Riley hadn''t been giggling so much, she may have seen the frying pan that Syd yanked out of her inventory. With a practiced motion that comes from playing softball, Syd revved up, aimed at Riley''s rear, and swung. *Ka-pow!* Riley screamed in shock as soon as smooth cold metal met tender flesh. Hot pants do not offer much protection. She was laying face down on the mats trying to rub the stinging sensation out of her own buns when Syd spoke up. "I''m gonna pay for that, aren''t I?" Riley didn''t bother looking up. "Yup." "Don''t suppose I can kiss it better?" "Nope." "Massage?" she tried. Riley glared at the mats in front of her face. "You just want to touch me, and raise your skill level." Syd shrugged, sometimes there is nothing you can do. "How bad will it be if I run away for a few days?" "Worse, and don''t run. That could get you killed since I haven''t told you where you can''t go yet." "Balls," Syd cursed at her lack of foresight. Riley rolled over and swept Syd''s feet out from under her. She landed with the usual dull thud of a full body flop. "I''m thinking of breaking out the little trunk." Syd''s eyes shot wide open. "I thought we agreed that the little trunk is forbidden?" "I''m going to make an exception." Riley grabbed Syd''s ankles and started to drag her towards the door. "We should see how well you handle the big toys with your gamer''s body after all." Syd groaned painfully as she was dragged over a threshold. "I love to watch you walk away..." Riley glanced back at the young woman leering in her direction. "If you don''t quit trying to get out of this, excalibur will have a new sheathe tonight." The color drained from Syd''s face, excalibur was huge!
It was sunset when Syd finally caught a break. Her new power was making it impossible to pass out from exhaustion. Every time she was ready to throw in the towel, Riley would give her a break, then, just like a game character, she''d fully recover. Syd was tempted to just leave, but something about Riley was desperate today. "I guess we won''t be seeing each other as much, will we?" she asked, damn her wisdom stat. Riley continued to slowly trace the lines of Syd''s [Blank Crest]. "It''s for the best," she explained candidly. "Being associated with my people won''t earn you any favors around here." Syd huffed in annoyance. "So you just teach me a bunch of things and kick me out?" "No, I teach you how to live on the other side. Make sweet, hot, passionate love to you one more time, and ask you to leave." By now they were gazing into each other''s eyes again. "Okay?" "I can live with that," Syd replied bitterly. "I don''t like it though, I''m still gonna show up on your doorstep whenever it rains..." "...and I''ll make the rain go away." Riley answered, understanding exactly what Syd meant by rain. ''Fucking first love...''

Chapter 5: ~Of Farewells~ Chapter 5: ~Of Farewells~ Thanks to Riley pointing out the perks of having a game character''s body, Syd ended up being trained very intensely. She was forced to reverse her BMI manipulation ¡ª at the time it was 7% ¡ª and activate gravitic ring. Between her body being heavier than usual, and training in a high gravity area, Syd had a hellish few days. There weren''t even any breaks from training because of two things. One, massage really did make it where she didn''t need sleep. Two, she''d managed to get the rest of the week off school. Syd sat down and showed her parents that yes, she had at some point memorized all of the textbooks, and she was bored with school. That was two lies that she sort of told her parents. One was a lie of omission, no way she tells her parents it took her one day to memorize those. The other lie, was that school is boring. Seriously, where else would she pick up all those cute girls. Another thing Syd did was flip through the entire gravitas grimoire. She couldn''t automatically learn all of the spells, but knowing them was definitely giving her something to look forward to. She''d already played with a few other basic spells, one of them was even banned from use by Riley. That woman didn''t like Syd stealing her glazed donuts from twenty feet away. As Syd''s understanding of gravity magic grew, she came upon an important truth. Changing the real mass of an object or person is nearly impossible. What she was doing had been literally using magic as a sort of interference buffer between the gravitational pull of objects. It was still odd to her, thinking that gravity magic wasn''t actually controlling gravity, it was tricking gravity into doing what you wanted it to. By the end of her precursor studies Syd had managed to gain a few useful spells. Pulling, throwing, lifting, and flooding small areas with gravity were beginner things. As with all things, practice makes perfect. She literally celebrated when smashing a soda can with gravity became possible. Something about gaining levels making spells suddenly stronger really appealed to her. It may also be worth mentioning that Syd had been keeping her circuits active and using structural analysis every chance she got. If they were gonna be any use to her, the circuits and analysis, then she needed to do two things. Get used to the feeling of heat on her tramp stamp zone, and level the hell out of structural analysis. It was during a bout of gamer induced kleptomania that Syd realized something very important she had forgotten about magus crests. Crests were passed down to heirs for more than just increasing od and mana levels. It was about having a literal inheritance of spells. At some point in life the current bearer of a crest was expected to copy some, if not all, of his or her spells into the crest, thus passing those spells on to their heir. Like the Tohsaka crest and grandr curses. So that begged the question of how they did it. Syd honestly had no clue, it was just a bit of lore. So she had prayed to the goddess, and received a quest. Said quest resulted in Syd being ''punished'' again, but in her mind that was well worth it. She had gotten her hands on the details to forge spells into her blank crest. From that day on structural analysis was done almost on reflex. All she had to do was heat up a circuit, find the spell, and activate it. All the spell''s relevant incantation and thaumaturgical process were stored within, so boom, auto-casting. An interesting thing she had found was that magecraft was a heck of a lot more complicated than magic. Magic was basically just knowing what you want, then enforcing your will in a really blunt manner. Magecraft was complicated, it was created in a world that worked against spell casting. As a result magecraft required all sorts of technical information, she just knew it would take her years to develop an original spell if she tried, so she didn''t. Whatever magecraft she got by luck was all she would use. Both of them knew that her time with Riley would be much shorter than other power users. Syd being able to learn so quickly made sure of that. One of her gamer features even helped, she could pull up a gods be damned world map. The thing would absorb information from any map that she got her hands on, then display it with perfect accuracy. So no sitting around forever learning the ''where to and where not to go''. Riley had just gotten her agency maps for the entire world, and stuck them in Syd''s head. Then it happened, the longest hours of her life, sayonara first love...
"You should leave home for good," Riley began, "visit, but don''t live there." Syd refused to look Riley in the eye, she stubbornly continued to rest her head on the woman''s shoulder. "Why?" "Trouble has a way of following people home," she explained with absolute seriousness. "Your parents are normal people, in fact, if you can, use the abyss services to get everything set up as Syndra Shyael." Syd stopped hugging Riley and turned to walk away. She only got a few steps before Riley gave her one last warning. "I''ll be reporting your existence today, so expect the local abyss representative to show up within a week." Syd had learned about all of it from Riley. People had been calling the other side many things over time, like the hidden world, or purgatory, but it would seem that thanks to a certain shady company going by Abyss, the name had stuck. They always contact people new to their world and explain their services, so she may as well get it over with. Another thing to worry about was getting stronger. Riley had flat out explained things in a way that made sense to Syd. Many people from the abyss, were a lot like those disgusting first rate magus from the nasuverse. They''d have no qualms whatsoever abducting and experimenting on someone with such a useful power like her. So it was of great importance that she keep exactly what her power is secret, for as long as possible. Riley was even taking one for the team by playing dumb and claiming that she''d been told Syd''s power was gravity magic. "On that note, take this." Riley tossed Syd a hotel key. "It''s for the local place, that''s where I''ll be reporting your residence as. Good luck trying to get your parents to let you leave home." Syd took one look at the key and sighed. The hotel right by their bar, the one where she''d first met Riley, had the woman done that on purpose?
"I want to live on my own." No use beating around the bush she figured. May as well just get it on with. Her parents exchanged a long look, nodded, then turned back to her. Damn she hated it when they did that. Oh look at us, we can read each other''s minds. "Okay," her father said, making her gape in surprise. Of course that couldn''t be the end of it. "Just tell us your reasons," her mother added. Syd took a moment to organize her thoughts. She''d planned for trench warfare here, not close combat. "Well, there are a few..." Her parents egged her on by rolling their eyes in sync, sons a bitches. "...I''m a lesbian." Ah, the satisfaction of turning the tables, how she loved it. Look who''s gaping now biotch. Sadly, her wisdom stat chose that moment to inform her that bringing up sexuality as a reason for leaving home, is not a smart move. Syd''s forehead promptly met the dining room table. "Just kidding..." Syd tried hopefully. Great, now her parents have their ''yeah right motherfucker'' faces on. "How long have you known?" Her father was the first to recover his senses. Syd decided to just go for broke. "Since a few weeks after my eighteenth birthday. Ironclad Rule #2 didn''t count anymore so I tried to get a boyfriend... that failed spectacularly." "I can''t imagine why," her mother deadpanned. "I can," dad chirped helpfully. Thus earning himself a slap upside the head from mom. "Okay, shelve the lesbian thing for now. We''ve got bigger problems." Syd begged. "Problems?" mom asked with a twitching eyebrow. "Yup, monsters are real. I know gravity magic. Being in the same house with me is dangerous for all of us." Syd promptly cast a grav ring right on the table. Her mother barely slumped, but good old dad had the grace to smack his head on the table. "I want to move out in order to protect us all." Her dad was rubbing his forehead and laughing. "Monsters are real!? Cool!" he shouted. *Smack!* Good ol'' mom, keepin'' her bitch in line. "No lies?" Syd shook her head, sometimes it was nice to be a member of this family. "Only truth." "What do you need?" she asked. Syd took a moment to marvel at the stoic woman sitting in front of her. "I''ll be gone by dinner. I''ve got plenty of cash, and a way to make more if need be." "Just like that?" dad asked. "Just like that," Syd parroted. Her mom and dad looked back and forth at each other, grinned wickedly, then spoke in unison. "I guess that means we''re done here." Syd''s eyes must have popped out of her fucking skull when their names changed to LV.??? - ??????? ???????. Her state of shock didn''t get any better when they both just faded from existence right in front of her. Once the initial shock did wear off, her response was as eloquent as always. "What the fuck!?" *Ding!*

Sydney was back in her room, on the bed, wrapped up in her comforter. Her mind was racing. She had memories of a full and mostly happy life. They were her parents, them disappearing and probably not being human wasn''t so bad right? If it was so alright then why was she crying. That damn wisdom stat was messing up her thinking again, so now she had bullet points. One, her normal life was fucked. Two, Syd''s lover had basically chosen her job and spouse. Okay, she couldn''t really fault Riley for choosing her career and husband. In fact, she felt kinda bad for asking Riley to run away with her in the first place. Gods be damned first love and romance novels. Three, she''d never see mom and dad again. They were gone. No more family dinners or rowdy breakfasts. Four, her parents were more than less likely not her birth parents. They were also probably lying about a lot of things. Five, lots of people are gonna want to experiment on her, and not in the good way. Fucking hindsight, twenty-twenty bullshit. ''Focus on the good things,'' she thought sadly. One, she is The Gamer. Period. Two, she can use magic. See point one for an explanation. Three, money, money, money. Once again, see point one. Four, no more ironclad rules. Freedom! ''Freedom feels so hollow when it just reminds you what you lost to get it...'' Gazing out her bedroom window was nearly as depressing as thinking of her parents. The curtains on Riley''s window were closed, Syd didn''t even know the woman had curtains. Obviously, going right back and freaking out less than an hour after saying goodbye would suck. This was a huge problem though, and it would be something she could use help with. In fact, Sydney was sure Riley would understand. That was the problem though, she couldn''t go to Riley now. Syd needed to leave the woman, and if she went back now then Riley may very well become her crutch. The woman had a life without her, and it just wouldn''t do to depend on her for everything. Her parents vanishing was peaceful enough, nothing too big was changing, sure it was a little screwed up, but she could deal with it. Syd looked away from the window and went over what she should do next, it was raining far too soon...
Sydney moved through her home like a zombie on a mission. Every little thing that she could think might be useful was getting chucked into her inventory. There was actually a pretty scary moment where she realized that there was definitely one more door on the ground floor than there used to be. A door that she couldn''t remember, like something you see out of the corner of your eye, but never look at. Syd didn''t even open it, she turned tail and ran. Maybe one day she''d come back... This tale has been unlawfully obtained from Royal Road. If you discover it on Amazon, kindly report it. Outside of her home, and slightly out of breath, Syd yanked her cellphone out. It was time to call in a favor. "Hello?" a slightly high-pitched voice answered. "Hey, perv." There was a long pregnant silence, before a squeal assaulted Syd''s ear through the phone. "Oh my god, Syd. How''ve you been, bitch?" Juliet, her first friend. They hadn''t spoke since last summer, and they hadn''t met for more than three years now. What to say? "My world kind of crashed and burned..." Smooth Syd, real smooth. "Is everything... forget that, stupid question. What do you need?" Juliet asked somberly. "A place to crash tonight, I don''t wanna be alone." "You know the place Syd." Sydney took a deep breath, why had she ever doubted her friend. "I''ll be there in two hours... It''s good to hear your voice Jules." With that, she hung up the phone and whipped her fake parent''s keys out. She''d always liked driving her mother''s Honda. Nice small car with good mileage. Syd wasn''t sure what she would do with her dad''s monster of a truck.
*Daa-da-da-dun!*
You have encountered Dark Rider!
Syd''s heart about leapt through her chest as soon as the window popped up. She was just minding her own business, driving down the highway. A monster? Seriously? The quick paced galloping of a horse steadily getting louder alerted Syd to danger. Ignoring the fact that every car around her had suddenly disappeared, she glanced at her rear view mirror. One of the scariest things ever was coming up on her. Bathed in a cloak of shadows with the biggest scythe she had ever seen, was a giant man whose features couldn''t be seen. Of course he had to be riding on an equally giant horse with red eyes, black hair, and steam coming out its nostrils. Syd could almost swear she saw him smile as it reared back and swung the scythe down in a vertical motion. Syd veered her car right just in time to avoid being impaled on the blade, then she jerked left to slam into his horse. The thing toppled over in a spectacular display of pain that brought a sadistic grin to her face. That grin lasted all of two seconds before ''Death'' landed on the roof of her car. Just before his scythe came back down she hit the breaks. Physics kicked in and the son of a bitch went flying off the hood. Syd slammed her foot on the pedal while raising her right hand to hit him with grav ring. In less than three seconds the nine foot giant in black was attached to her hood. At four seconds it was under her wheels, and at five seconds he was dead.
Level up!

Level up!
She took her time to slow down and park, her car was pretty banged up, but hey, she was alive. Hitting reverse, she slowly backed up to where the monster had died. Sure enough, right on the ground was a wad of cash. Four grand and three levels from one monster, this reminded her exactly why low level people don''t go to high level zones. Assuming that the highway was just a high level zone, Syd quickly chose to take the long way to Juliet''s house.
The rest of her ride in was uneventful for Syd. All the way up to the gate of Juliet''s home was nothing but peaceful riding. She really had a newfound love for mellow rides after the adrenaline rush of her last battle wore off. In front of her now, through a cast iron gate, Syd could see the acres of forest that Juliet''s parents had built their home on. She loved playing in these lush green and brown forests of pine. Before she could even reach out to tap the intercom someone buzzed her in. Syd drove at a sedate pace and allowed her mind to wander towards simpler days. Chasing other children through these woods, climbing pine trees and swinging about, riding dirt bikes up and down ditches, her first broken arm. Playing hide and seek for hours on end. All smiles, laughs, and shouts. This was a sort of reminder that Juliet''s family was rich beyond rich. They didn''t really have a physical security presence, since those people lived in cabins spread throughout the woods, but within a minute of any alarms going off, the entire estate would be covered in armor wearing bodyguards with high-caliber weaponry. If it wasn''t for the fact that she was sure Juliet wouldn''t be a viable target for people coming after her, than Syd probably would''ve just gone back to Riley ¡ª screw the consequences. All of her musing abruptly stopped when she spotted the home. Fourteen massive pillars of hand carved oak lined the front like a monument. Large circular ornate wooden doors that had been too heavy for her to open as a child remained closed. Off to her right she spotted a spec of blonde, Julie had been waving her down. She quickly hooked a turn and followed her friend to the car port. One of six giant twin sized garage doors screeched as it rose to let her in. The inside of their garage was what you would typically expect. Large, square, and gray. As Syd stepped out of her car she was hit by a blonde missile, the girl was easily a foot shorter than herself. The scent of peach shampoo quickly overpowered everything else. Syd honestly stood there for a moment too shocked to respond. It was nice to be hugged by a friend right now. The moment didn''t last though, bright blue eyes, brighter than her own azure eyes, glance up at her. "Syd..." Sydney gathered Juliet up in her arms and sat on the hood of her beat up Honda. "God I missed you Jules." Juliet chuckled and stared at Syd''s car. "What happened to your mom''s Honda?" "Hit a real monster," she said blandly. "I''m sorry I haven''t called you in a while..." Juliet shrugged as she let go of Syd and leaned against the car. "That goes both ways, I guess we''ve just been busy." Syd toyed with her broken mirror, she''d really busted it on that horse. "You have no idea." Juliet smiled as she grabbed Syd''s hands. "Come on, you look like you could use a bath." Syd raised one eyebrow and refrained from being an honest person. Jules was hot, no need to tell her about the whole lesbian thing just yet. "We can swap stories while we sweat away our woes." Syd grinned like the cheshire cat himself. "I like the sound of that." Syd had gotten used to not looking at people''s floating I.D. while she talked to them, so it was a real relief when she saw Jules name. LV.9 Juliet Dauphine Now that she was a bit older, Sydney could appreciate some of the art Juliet''s father had left scattered among the giant hallways of their home. The man was an amazing artist, sometimes you would walk by a piece and just know that he meant for you to hear the resounding tap of your shoes against marble floors being bounced between pieces. Less than five minutes of walking, and one giant spiraling staircase later, Syd was standing in a room full of cubicles. She was actually shocked when Jules just started tearing her own clothes off and lazily tossing it about. Normally she had to work to get a girl to do that. Of course now she was feeling guilty, not guilty enough to look away, but still guilty. Making haste to follow, Syd quickly disrobed. "Still into the whole ''Bucking Broncos'' thing?" Juliet froze on the spot and glared at Syd. "We shall never speak of that again." A wry chuckle escaped Syd''s lips. "I have a slight confession to make," Syd began, drinking in what may very well be one of her last good looks at the french beauty''s smooth curves. "I''m a lesbian." Juliet froze again. "Really?" "Yup." "Huh, did not see that one coming." Syd''s head cocked sideways causing her straight black bangs to slide away. "Why not?" "You were always a lot more hands on with the boys than me. I remember the raving about how you were almost eighteen the last time we talked," she calmly explained, doing a little twirl and gauging Syd''s reaction. "Thought you''d have a boyfriend in days." "That makes two of us," Syd admitted, prying her eyes off her posing friend. "What the hell are you doing?" Jules laughed, it was the sort of musical laughter that only goddesses can make. "You can look, but you can''t touch. I like having someone admire me for being me, not just because I''m..." Syd waltzed by Jules and sat near one of the showers, rinsing off before entering a bath is common courtesy after all. "Problems?" Jules followed Syd in and began to lather up some soap, just like old times she was scrubbing Syd''s back. "Marriage partners all sucked, they just want my money, and contacts. Anyone I try to even give a chance either looks at me like an idol or a slut. It''s getting absurd..." she trailed off, noticing something entertaining, "... I like your tramp stamp. Have you been working out?" Syd chuckled ruefully and changed topics. "Is it really that bad, no good guys around?" Jules wasn''t used to anybody ignoring her questions, she found it oddly refreshing. "I tried a few of your old friends, they were all horn dogs. One of them even had the gall to claim he''d slept with me." Syd cringed something awful at that. Jules had dug her nails in a bit. "What did you do about it?" "I saw a gynecologist and got as official a note as possible saying that I''m still a virgin. Then I started a smear campaign. He dropped out of school and moved away last I heard." Syd sighed wistfully while taking a closer look at her friend. "I would totally worship you like the goddess that you are, and I''d expect nothing in return." Jules managed a small blush as she finished rinsing the soap off Syd''s back. "I''m tempted, but we''ve been friends for way too long. I''ve never even considered searching for a romantic partner in women before." Out of habit they switched places and Syd began to lather soap onto Juliet''s creamy white skin. Her ''massage'' skill also kicked in on reflex. "We''ve changed you know, if that wasn''t already obvious from seeing me." Jules fought down the urge to moan, no one had ever touched her like this before. "So you suddenly realized how great I am?" "Nothing like that," Syd shook her head negatively. "I''ve always known you were great, it was only when I realized that I ''like'' like girls, things changed. Now you''re more than that kind, fun, gentle, and beautiful ¡ª it''s why I stopped calling last summer. I doubt I''d be able to stop myself from hitting on you." Jules started to push back into Syd''s amazing fingers. "You got taller." "You got shorter." "Where on earth did you learn to do this?" Jules finally gave in, it was an incredible massage. Syd felt a pang of sorrow well up as she rested her chin on Juliet''s shoulder, pulling the smaller woman into an embrace. "Tell you in the bath?" Juliet nodded dumbly, this was not how she was expecting their reunion to go. Normally they''d be watching movies, reading books, or playing games. Pigging out on junk food and gossiping about their lives. What the hell could''ve made cheery, bubbly Syd, sound so forsaken.

Chapter 6: ~Breaking Syd~ Chapter 6: ~Breaking Syd~ Syd morosely slipped into the steaming bath expecting Juliet to slide in next to her. She had not expected the smaller woman to curl up in her lap and lean back. The close contact was very soothing, Syd hated to admit it, but she thrived on physical contact. Women were just so soft, and comfy, and cuddly... what was she supposed to be doing again? "You were saying?" Jules prompted. "I don''t wanna bore you with all the details, so I''ll give you the short version." Syd wrapped her arms around Juliet''s waist. "I met a woman the day after our last call. We hit it off, I realized that I really like girls, and I woke up in her bed." Juliet''s mouth was hanging open at that particular admission. "You don''t do things by halves, do you?" Another rueful chuckle escaped Syd''s lips. "Not if I can help it. Anyways, I learned to be a masseuse through experience, I loved the way she would hum as I ran my fingers over her body. There''s nothing quite like it." "I take it you two aren''t an item?" "Nope, things ended for the most part... this morning." Juliet quirked an eyebrow. "Crashed and burned?" "That''s part of it, a tiny not so small part," Syd allowed. Jules was not someone known for her patience. "Spit it out, what happened to make your world ''crash and burn''." "My parents probably weren''t my real parents, and they just disappeared on me. I''ll probably never see them again," she blurted out. "There''s also gonna be a ton of... there are people..." Syd really didn''t want Jules to have anything to do with the Abyss. It was why she was leaving home at first, to keep people she loved from getting hurt, and Jules was definitely one of those people. Juliet was having trouble coming to terms with what she''d just heard. Being Syd''s best friend for years meant she had really known her parents. To hear something like that all of a sudden wasn''t shocking, it was mind blowing. Syd seemed to be holding it together pretty well, all things considered. "Are you gonna be okay, Syd?" Sydney wanted to say no, but she knew for a fact she would be fine. ''A Gamer''s Mind'' wouldn''t let her fall to pieces, she was sure of that, thrice damned mind altering skill. "I''ve been hanging on by threads ever since..." Syd paused, she''d almost mentioned her power. "... grasping at straws here Jules, and you''re my last straw." Juliet let her head rest on Syd''s chest. "It''s not fair if you put it like that." Syd hadn''t realized how incredibly manipulative that sounded till it was already out there. Probably because she had to compensate for almost blurting out something she didn''t want Juliet to know about. "I don''t care if you want to sleep with me, or be my friend. I just need you Jules." Juliet spent the better part of a minute fighting down the urge to surrender herself to Syd. "I don''t mind sleeping in the same bed like old times, and definitely won''t say no to a massage." Syd began to massage Juliet''s scalp. "I''ll also listen to anything you want to get off your chest... you can stay with me for as long as you want." Syd let herself fantasize about moving in with Jules for a moment before crushing it, violently. "I have to leave tomorrow morning. There''s someone who''s supposed to find me, help me get my life set up with my real name and all that." Juliet deflated, she had actually been looking forward to having Syd around again. "Real name?" Syd gagged on thin air. "Syndra Shyael," she deadpanned. Once again, Syd absolutely loved what laughing does to women''s breasts. "This is torture you know, being centimeters away from such perky breasts, and I can''t touch." Juliet figured that was just Syd''s way of trying to get off the topic of her burning world, so she didn''t honestly think there was any true desire behind Syd''s words. She really didn''t know her best friend as well as she used to. "If it''ll make you feel better, you can massage those too." Seeing Syd''s face light up, she quickly added, "that''s it though, we go no further." For some reason, the knowing smile on Syd''s face didn''t make her feel very confident. Syd didn''t hesitate to put all of her experience to use on Jules, she had won her prize, the world may be burning, but she would have this.
Juliet woke up in her bed feeling a little groggy. She remembered things quickly devolving last night with Syd. Never again would she overestimate her own self control, or maybe she shouldn''t underestimate Syd. Regardless, she would do both from now on. In hindsight, if that did count as losing her virginity, then it was well worth it. Syd had been amazing, and it was greater than anything she had ever imagined. Jules had been a bit of a pervert in their middle school days, she''d even tried to get Syd to understand the greatness of muscle men, like "Bucking Broncos". In the end, her pervy habits had died out upon reaching high school. She got to know real high school and college guys. Girls, for the most part, when they aren''t driving a knife between your kidneys, are pleasing company. But men, in her experience so far, had sucked. Not all of them, mind you, but the ones that didn''t outright suck so far, a grand total of three, had all been star struck with her. She didn''t want a follower, or someone who would kiss her feet, she wanted a partner. Sadly, she had found only one person who fit that bill, and judging by the messed up sheets beside her, that person already left the building. So Imagine her surprise when a mop of tousled black hair began to slowly kiss its way up her midsection underneath the covers. "I thought you''d already left." Jules groaned happily. "It''s very rude to sleep with someone, then take off without saying goodbye," Syd explained. "You''re my anchor now, I wouldn''t do that to you." Jules cocked her head sideways to give Syd full access to her neck. "Anchor?" Syd continued to plant gentle kisses upon Juliet''s creamy skin. "I won''t tie you down or anything, you can look for someone. I just wanna take solace in the fact that I''ll always be welcome here," she began seriously. "I won''t ¡ª I can''t lie to you. There''s a lot more fucked up in my life than just the stuff I told you about. I''m not sure how often I''ll be able to visit you, and I''ll probably also end up in bed with other women." "A free spirit," Juliet chirped. "If there''s ever anything I can do Syd..." "I''ll let you know," Syd confirmed. "Now let me spoil you for a few hours before I have to go back... home."
It took Syd a while longer than planned to leave. At some point during her stay Juliet had managed to call their mechanic in for a look at the Honda. She hadn''t asked for it, but looking a gift horse in the mouth was never a good idea, so Syd let the man do a quick once over. In the end, he had said that her car was boned. It would still run for a little while, but the way she''d bent its sensitive bits would take at least four grand to fix. So here she was, driving away after convincing Juliet that she didn''t need one of their cars. Syd still had her father''s truck, even if it was a gas guzzling monster. Taking the back roads home seemed like a good idea since she hadn''t seen a random encounter yet. Still, sometimes Syd thought that she must have E rank luck, cause shit just doesn''t keep going wrong like this. LV.32 - Simon Lantear Yup, that''s the dude she just hit with her car. Syd was just driving along, minding her own business when all of a sudden the other cars vanished again. Her first thought was ''random encounter'', but the battle music didn''t sound off. Sadly, because she was looking around, and not watching where she was going, this dude got ran over. First, there was a very unmanly scream of terror. Second, Syd''s head snapped forward just in time to see the funniest expression of sheer terror she had ever seen. Third, she missed the brake pedal. Fourth, she may have slammed the gas pedal during her panic. Fifth, how the hell is that human pancake standing back up? "Are you okay!?" she shouted out her window. Simon cursed under his breath and glanced towards her car. "I just got ran over by a car. Of course I''m okay!" he snarked. Syd nodded happily, rolled up her window, and hit the gas. "Gotta go, bye!" "Wait just a minute!" he shouted as she started to leave. Syd did the bullet point thing in her mind again. One, she just hit a person, it would be rude to hit and run. Two, he was fine... mostly. Three, something weird happened again, and she really wanted to know what it was so she could stop running things over. Four, it would suck to run over a cute girl, so she''d better figure this shit out now. With cute girls in mind, Syd pulled over and got out of her car. Less than a minute later, she was helping Simon to get back on his feet. Rapidly, different ways this could go flashed through her head. In the end, playing dumb sounded like the best option to get the most information. "Why did all of the other cars disappear, and why were you sitting in the middle of the road?" Yes, pass the blame, that always helps. Simon sheepishly rubbed the back of his head. The motion caused Syd to realize that her observation skills or something must be getting better, because he totally has stats now, and the man is a vitality beast. "I was practicing my meditation techniques, but that''s not the problem." He cut off her snarky comment about meditating in the road. "You somehow just drove right into my illusion barrier, that shouldn''t be possible." Syd considered her options again, a new plan formulated in her mind. "Does this have to do with that whole, ''Power users and the Abyss'', thing?" Simon gave her a strange look, then nodded. "Sort of." "I''m Syndra." She held out her hand in greeting. "Just learned that I can use gravity magic like two days ago." A look of understanding washed over his face as he took her hand. "Simon, adept of the crescent clan. Normally it''s a pleasure to meet natural ability users, but..." Syd chuckled ruefully. "You should see the last guy I ran over." Simon choked down the urge to smack this crazy girl. "Why did you run someone over?" "He was trying to kill me with a big ass scythe," she explained sagely. "My car still has the battle scars to show for it." Simon, being the middle-aged, and thereby older party here, motioned for a nearby bench. "Let us sit and rest so that I may attempt to educate you about the Gaia theory." He would ignore the absurdness of her comments for now. Syd resisted the urge to rub her hands on Simon''s bald head and wish for luck. If the guy was gonna give her free information, then she''d best restrain her urges. Riley had plainly told her that there was tons of stuff she just didn''t know, so this could pan out nicely. "Gaia is largely believed to be the reason behind natural ability users, but that''s not what''s important here." His features hardened, taking on a very serious sensei look. "The law of interference. If a power is used to effect the world on a large scale, Gaia eliminates the source of that power." Syd''s eyes darkened, she wasn''t convinced Gaia was behind her abilities, but she''d at least consider it. "That brings us to illusion barriers, a space created for power users to do combat." He took a moment to sheepishly rub his head. "Although, many of us use illusion barriers for other mundane purposes." "Anybody can make these?" "No, we can use them, and prompt them to be made, but it is not our power. Gaia is the one who creates illusion barriers." Simon got up at that point and began to push Syd''s car. Syd simply watched him with a raised eyebrow. "Okay," he continued once her car was off the road. "Raise your hand high, focus your power into it, then just send your will to Gaia. Try to destroy the illusion barrier around us." Support the author by searching for the original publication of this novel. *Ding!*

Syd chuckled a bit before tapping ''Confirm''. With a jovial smile she began by entering a meditation pose and centering herself. Simon was surprised to see her use meditation so effectively, but kept his gob shut. Then, just as she did with the blood magic, Syd sent some mana towards her hand. Once it was all set she imposed her will upon the world. As soon as she had done it, Syd could literally feel something fighting back against her. The brief thought that this must be what using real magecraft feels like did cross her mind, but it quickly vanished. As she continued to strain herself, another thought occurred, she was probably having a battle of the wills with Gaia. Those thoughts quickly turned into some signature Syd thoughts, at first she was miffed, then she was slightly excited. After all, how often do you get to have a mental spar with the sexiest milf in the multiverse? As soon as she imagined Gaia ''that way'' there was a brief moment of what she could only describe as Gaia having a brain fart. In a single explosive second, the illusion barrier shattered, violently. *Ding!*

"That was interesting," Simon commented. "Never seen a barrier literally explode." Syd ignored Simon and began to immediately focus again, she was hoping to take advantage of Gaia''s shock. Unfortunately, the goddess had recovered with a vengeance. Before, it had felt like a playful tug of war between them. Now, the goddess was out for blood. Syd could literally feel a pressure being exerted on her entire being. Thank god she had trained in grav rings for a long time. Once again, Syd was a sore loser, and she wasn''t about to be denied her prize. So when a strategy works once, it should work twice. She carefully cleared her mind, not letting any of her thoughts seep through the bond she could feel with Gaia. Then, in a single glorious moment, she imagined herself ''slaying'' Gaia with Riley''s ''excalibur''. The effect was instantaneous, all of a sudden she was free from the pressure. Without wasting her time Syd quickly went back to imposing her will upon reality. *Ding!*

At some point while Syd was reading her rewards, she received the mental equivalent of an almighty slap, which only served to amuse her further. Another thing she''d been doing is ignoring Simon while he talked all about illusion barriers. Syd was still a bit sullen, she had no way to see an illusion barrier coming, which meant potentially running over cute girls. That wouldn''t do at all. It would be nice if she had some of the more recent rpg features to turn off random...

Syd wanted to cry ¡ª really, really cry. But that just wouldn''t do right now, it would seem suspicious. Syd quickly flicked off battle music, random encounters, and I.D. Auto-pass. "I really should get going," Syd interrupted Simon''s lecture. "The abyss rep will be visiting me soon." Simon''s body tensed for a second, if she hadn''t been watching him so closely, she''d have missed it. "We could contact the abyss for you back at the clan compound, why don''t you come with me?" Riley''s warnings about naturals getting snagged by clans was ringing in her ears at the moment. "I''ve already had someone tell them where to find me, it really isn''t that urgent." Simon''s smile shifted just a bit, it wasn''t much, but it was still enough to set off more alarms for Syd. "I could introduce you to my clan, the abyss can be a dangerous place for an inexperienced person." On a hunch, Syd opened her options menu with a thought and flicked enemy and ally health bars on. Right then, Simon''s name went red, her gamer skills were already registering him as an enemy, that was not good news. "Then I''ll take you up on your offer." She passed him her keys. "You drive." Syd rolled her eyes when his name changed to yellow. She patiently let Simon walk towards her car then, when his back was turned, whipped out her gravity hammer. For a brief moment she realized that her mind just chose murder as an acceptable solution to this problem, it chose murder fast. That moment lasted all of half a second as her mighty brute hammer swung down upon the man''s bald head and cracked it like an egg. With contact came the signature mega pulse of gravity, making Syd cringe as she watched his cranium turn into little more than a pile of mush. Simon may have had a strong body, but his head still split like a melon. It didn''t even make her feel sick, she was just really calm, scary calm. Syd knew what she had to do here, she quickly took her keys, stuffed him in the trunk, and got in her car. Instead of driving the last half hour home, she headed in the opposite direction. Less than half a mile away she saw the illusion barrier burst, which was a bit of a relief. Nobody should have seen her car anywhere near him.
''Who said high school chem was useless?'''' Syd thought as she watched the assassin once named Simon slowly dissolve in a plastic tub of chemicals. Chemistry had taught her how to do it, get rid of a body, leave no bits behind ¡ª other than what looked like roadkill that is. ''Instant dungeons sure are handy,'' she mentally scoffed. Nobody will have seen her in here, her own little personal world, an empty world. Beneath Syd, in the junkyard, was a recently cleaned and compacted Honda. All that remained of her mother''s totaled car was a scrapped junk cube. It made a rather uncomfortable seat, but she really didn''t mind right now. If Syd had to put a word on the feeling she was having, it would be numb, just numb. Not even the picturesque scene of a setting sun across the horizon could shake her into action. It wasn''t until the cool breeze of night set in that Syd began to walk home. She''d just fucking killed someone, and it barely bothered her. ''Great,'' she thought, ''turned into a psycho at some point and didn''t even notice it.'' As Syd''s profile faded into the darkness of night, a single memory passed through her mind. An old guild master that she''d run lots of dungeons with once upon a time. Words of wisdom that she''d once taken to heart. Words that had become a new goal, a way of life for her. ''Gamer rule #3: Find a strong player or guild, and leech off them.'' Syd''s intellect stat wasn''t over one hundred for nothing, she knew she''d gotten stupid lucky with that idiot assassin, he could''ve very well killed her earlier today. No more depending on luck to survive, she was gonna sit down, shut up, and work her pretty little ass off. It''s goblin slaying time.

Chapter 7: ~A Night of Syn~ Chapter 7: ~A Night of Syn~ Murder changes you, it stains your soul and troubles your conscience. Syd came to the unfortunate conclusion that even if her soul was stained, the conscience is clear. Maybe there was just something wrong with her head now, maybe it was the gamer''s mind, and maybe it was just who she''d been all along. In the end, it didn''t really matter. Syd felt that she''d done what was needed to survive. The lesson she''d had with Riley about just how fucked up some people are had really done its job. It would seem that not trusting strangers is a sad truth of the world, and it just gets worse in the abyss. How many times during that one week had Riley told her not to trust anyone... at least a hundred. Riley knew her well, Syd liked to trust, she thrived on trust. Not trusting would probably have been difficult for her, that is, if her parents hadn''t suddenly dropped a proverbial bomb the way they did. So Syd had options now. Stay in this shitty hotel room and wait for the abyss to come, or make a run for it. Dye her hair, wear a wig, change clothes and get color contacts. The only one who knew enough to track her down was probably Riley, and she doubted the woman would do that. Syd would have to leave behind all that sweet ass she''d been lusting after at school, but there was plenty of ass in the world. Glancing at the bathroom mirror from her resting place brought up another problem. Her real name didn''t feel real anymore. In fact, she was almost positive her real name was actually Syndra Shyael. That begs the question, who the fuck names their kid Syndra Shyael? In hindsight, fucking twenty-twenty bullshit again, the name Syn certainly suits her more now. So that was it, one decision made, Syd died with her parents. Syn lives in the abyss, Syn''s one bitch you don''t want to fuck with. The decision was final. Time to train, time to wait, time to live on the other side. The first thing to do was get better armed, you couldn''t always count on people being idiots, so she wanted a nice pointy weapon, or two, or three. Glancing around for something to write on made her laugh. Why the hell hadn''t she put something to write with and scribble on in her inventory yet? ''Oh well,'' she thought. ''What have they got lying around for me to scribble on?'''' Another devious smile graced Syn''s full lips. Her azure eyes danced with amusement as she pulled out something that almost all hotel rooms have.
Lucretia Valentine, vampire and local abyss representative for the Scottsville New York area, was feeling very confused. After the order had been handed down to make contact with a new natural power user, she had gotten a personal summons from the vampire princess herself. That just doesn''t happen, ever. Curious about why she was being summoned, and not at all connecting the dots to her new assignment, she had obliged, as was her duty. She may not serve as a chevalier anymore, but the loyalty to royalty isn''t something that fades. The topic of discussion had set her on edge right away, it would seem there was a leak somewhere, because the princess did indeed know her orders. Sydney Kael, an unassuming local high school girl had developed powers. Nothing out of the ordinary there, it happens. What doesn''t happen is having her cousin Moira, someone known for their icy and indifferent personality, gushing like a normal schoolgirl over the new power user. The reason for Moira''s change in attitude? Sydney Kael was on the radar of nearly every changer clan in Scottsville before she even became a power user. That, in and of itself, is not so rare. Humans with extraordinary talents are sometimes converted to the changer clan''s species so that their talents may be used for the good of the clan. Lucretia herself was now intrigued, so she had asked Moira what talent this Sydney girl possessed. The answer was... amusing, to say the least. It would seem that dear Sydney is a bit of a casanova. Being up for conversion by every major clan because you''re a hardcore lesbian who gives mind-numbing orgasms out like candy, is rare indeed. Lucretia was nearly sixty years old by now, incredibly young by vampire standards, even younger than Moira, and that woman was going to high school at the moment. So she couldn''t claim to have no interest at all in the girl if rumors proved to be true, but that wouldn''t be enough for her to listen to Moira''s request just yet. Of course, if Moira hadn''t convinced her to change the girl, then this scene she''d just walked in on did. Lucretia had made haste to the hotel where she was supposed to find Sydney Kael at, however, Sydney had gone out. The object of Moira''s desire hadn''t just up and left though, oh no, it would seem Sydney doesn''t give a damn what people think about her. Sitting on the empty bed, was a single sheet of paper with her cell number. Why was this even more amusing to a vampire? The girl had written her number on a half printed torn out page from the bible.
Syndra had left her hotel room and made a beeline for the nearest mall, about thirty minutes on foot. Once there, she whipped a ski mask out of her inventory and put it on. If she could kill someone, she could steal. Normally you''d be worried about alarms and getting caught, but Syn wasn''t concerned. The crime rate out here in rural new york was staggeringly low, and no one would rob the mall, well almost no one. After all, the mall is a bunch of rented space to people just trying to make a living. Well, they can make a living, but Syn has to survive. The only big shop in the mall has their own security, and that''s best buy. Syn had no reason to steal from best buy, so she really didn''t give a damn they had security. With the mask on she waltzed right up to the shutters and hit them with her high level lift spell. Riley had told her to practice this one a lot. It was so easy to knock people off their feet with a little lift, nobody ever expects to be forced in that direction. Still, the shutters groaned, and remained down. Shrugging her shoulders, she made her way to a maintenance entrance. Another simple gravity spell she knew was coming in handy now. She hadn''t learned to do small, precise things yet, but flooding a lock with mass effect fields to break it was very easy. With a quiet pop, her path inside was no longer barred. The mall at night was different, no more hustle and bustle. No small children playing on the merry-go-round. No couples sucking face in the food court. Just Syn, the stars above, and silence, by the gods this was turning her on. Syn didn''t bother with the cameras in general, they''d spot her, but big deal. In an effort to make it look like she didn''t know her way around the place, she ran in random directions and sometimes took a useless detour. Her targets were three shops in particular. The oriental place a.k.a. lots of pointy things to play with, the redneck owned gun shop ¡ª god bless you rednecks, and books-a-billion. As she made her way to the first place, a nice set of skates caught her eye. Sadly, Syn was still a high school girl, so she broke the glass and took the skates. Feeling a bit bad about it, she dropped a couple hundred bucks on the spot before making sure there were no cameras on her, and equipping her toys. It wouldn''t do to have people seeing a pair of skates magically resize themselves to fit her feet. Now happily skating through the mall, Syn was back on track, first stop, pointy instruments of doom. This one, she also felt bad about. The old couple who owned this shop were absolute sweethearts, and they''d always had a nice thing to say to her on a bad day. Looking around the shop, she could easily tell what was worth taking and what wasn''t. Observe was paying in dividends tonight. Especially when she''d set her eyes on the cheapest katana in this place. It was plain, undecorated, and completely unassuming, but thanks to ''observe'' and ''structural analysis'', she knew better.
Master Forged Japanese Katana
This blade and many others like it were created for a single purpose, to cut, maim, and kill. A common soldier once wielded this weapon, and his experience has forever tempered its steel.
Syn was happy with her findings for tonight. She had gotten plenty of real throwing weapons, that had nothing at all to do with her nerdy ninja desires, and a nice sword. On her way out she spotted the picture of the happy couple who owned this shop, and promptly banged her head on their counter. Quickly adding up how much she owed them, Syn doubled that number, then dropped thirteen hundred and fifty-four dollars behind the counter. As she skated out of the shop her wisdom stat increased by one, it brought a smile to her face. That smile turned to a grin when she unlocked the skater passive ability, suddenly, she was much better at this skating thing. Keeping on task, Syn directed herself towards the gun shop. It was actually only two stores down, so no big deal. The problem was that this place had a gate, and shutter. The gate was easy since she just broke their lock again and slid it to the side, but the shutter was a bit of a bitch, she had to bend down and help her lift spell pick it up, then shimmy her way under it, and be careful not to let it slam shut with her still in there. That had been a bit scary. As soon as Syn was inside she whipped out a flashlight using the old bag trick, and spotted their security camera. With a twist behind her back, she snapped the camera like a twig and let it hang there uselessly. This place was different from the oriental shop, it actually had a camera because these weapons were meant to be used. As soon as Syn finished running around snapping locks, she started cramming guns and ammo into her inventory. She had no clue how to use any of it, but it couldn''t hurt to take it all. The two perverted bastards that owned this place were rather well known, and they''d get no love from her. The bonus, every single knife and machete in this place was real and high quality, god she loved red necks right now. For shits and giggles she whipped out an American flag she''d picked up at the sports center, and replaced their southern flag. Syn couldn''t wait to see the look on the first person''s face when she pulls out a freaking rocket launcher. Seriously, where the hell did these guys get a rocket launcher from? Her last stop was the book store rip-off. They didn''t have tons of entertainment stuff, but there were plenty of manuals around. Without giving it much thought, Syd went straight for aisles with things on different martial arts, firearms safety, cooking, and D.I.Y. stuff. She would be living alone from now on after all. As Syd started to exit the shop, a section of the store that she hadn''t been allowed near before stood out. It was a shining beacon of perversion, the adult section. There was no question in her mind on what she had to do next. Syn took her time browsing books about female sexuality, and chucking every lesbian porno book she could find into her inventory. A few, had even been skill books, she couldn''t wait to learn those. As thanks, Syn felt it was only appropriate to drop a couple thousand bucks on the cash register as she skated away. It had been a good night for her, and all her future lovers. For the first time she was thankful that men like lesbians too, that was probably why there was so much material for her to study. Maybe it was because her mind was on tits and ass at the moment, or maybe it was just Syn being herself, but she ended up staring at the lingerie shop displays as she slid by. Whoever watched the video of her hitting a center stall full speed and flipping over their counter while leering at female mannequins was gonna lose their shit laughing at her. As compensation, Syn ran inside the underwear store and looted some of their finer pieces, for the greater good. Just before she got out of the mall Syn spotted a European armaments shop, she had totally forgotten that English speaking people make weapons too. ''Welp, may as well loot their shop...''
Syn happily zipped around an empty parking lot as she watched the sun rise. She felt so free right now. A night of relaxing looting was just what she needed to get her spirits up a bit. The loony grin on her face had nothing to do with the fact that she was mentally going over different lesbian skill books she''d learned last night. Now if only her conscience hadn''t cost her nearly seven thousand dollars in the process. You might be reading a pirated copy. Look for the official release to support the author. Her musing was interrupted by the sound of a cell phone ringing. Syn had expected the caller to be Jules or Riley, not L. Valentine. Suddenly the new techniques she''d been having fantasies about fled her mind, there was only one other person who would have her number right now... "Any relation to Moira Valentine?" Syn asked cheerfully. Whomever was on the other end of her phone took a moment to compose themselves. "Cousins ¡ª I believe you were expecting me." "When you gaze into the abyss..." "... the abyss gazes into you." Lucretia responded succinctly. "Forgive me, we were led to believe that you had no previous dealings with our organization." Syn muffled her phone until she could stop giggling like a madman. "I don''t, I just wanted to say something suitably dramatic," she explained honestly. "I''m in a really excitable mood right now, and I''m tired, balls I didn''t realize how tired I am." Syn took that moment to plop down and start massaging her legs, she really didn''t think it would be wise to sleep anytime soon. Not until she could find someplace safe. So for now, she''d live off massages. "I see..." Lucretia wasn''t quite sure what she had been expecting from Sydney Kael, usually new power users are more panicked. "I understand that you''re weary, but I was hoping to meet with you as soon as possible." Once again, the abyss rep went over what she was about to say in her head, there really was no good way to get this next part across. "It would seem that you''ve drawn a lot of attention to yourself, so the sooner, the better." Syn paused and looked back in the direction of the mall. "Oops..." "There are at least seven different clans after you at the moment, and only two of them are the friendly invite sort. Can we meet?" "I''m about five minutes from the hotel, but I don''t wanna go back there if people know about it. Is that where you are?" Syn asked politely. "Yes, you have a meeting place in mind?" Syn tilted her head back and forth a few times before coming to a decision. "The park a few miles south. Nice place, I like the swings. See you there." Lucretia was about to respond, but before she could Syn hung up on her. In her mind she was going over the location. If she didn''t know Sydney Kael was just a regular high school girl, she might''ve suspected a trap. The park, particularly the swings, were wide open to attack. Definitely a nice place to set up illusion barriers.
Syn had made it to the swings in less than a minute. As soon as she sat down, she inspected her massage skill, it really was coming along nicely.
Massage (Passive) Lv.43 ~ 56.34%
Massage is an ancient skill used through the ages to relieve fatigue. It''s now possible for you to cure body or joint related negative status effects.
-Your target''s fatigue recovery increases significantly. -Gets rid of 0.47% fatigue per second.
Not even half way to what she assumed was max level and it required less than four minutes to take away her need to sleep. Sometimes, she really loved being a game character. Sleeping was nice and all, but it would suck to get caught off guard that way when she didn''t technically need to sleep. While waiting on Lucretia to show up Syn tried to think of how she''d been caught. There was no way this was about the mall, that was too fast. So it had to be about the assassin, but again, she knew there was no way they''d know it was her. Unless some sort of magic was involved. Also, Lucretia had mentioned friendly invites, why would there be friendly invites to a murderer. Perhaps there was another reason people were after her. Maybe gravity magic was super rare? *cough cough* Syn looked up to see a slimmer, but taller version of Moira, the same rose-gold hair and delicate features. Only, her piercing red eyes were on full display here. This woman''s eyes made her heart race. LV.??? - Lucretia Valentine Definitely not someone she wants to fuck with. "Nice to meet you?" Syn left the question hanging. The woman smiled down at her. "The L. stands for Lucretia. The pleasure is mine, Sydney Kael." Syn flinched, upon spotting Lucretia''s inquisitive look, she spoke up. "I was thinking that you could help me set up some things in a different name, but from what you said earlier, the name Sydney Kael is all over the place already." Lucretia understood why one would choose to do that, it wasn''t uncommon. "To protect your family?" "Actually," Syndra took a moment to think about how to phrase this. "My family already disappeared yesterday." Seeing Lucretia cringe meant that she had gotten it across the way she''d wanted it to sound. "Do true names have power or anything in this world?" "Yes, true names can be used in a few different things. Mostly to enforce a geass. Nothing too malicious happens." Syndra shook her head sullenly, looks like it''s back to calling herself Syd for now. No way was she letting people know her true name when it had been so conveniently hidden all this time. "So... why are people are looking for me?" "Ah, yes..." Lucretia wasn''t quite sure how to put this. "This started before you became a natural ability user," she slowly began. Syd wasn''t liking the sound of this, did someone know about her origins? "It would seem that you impressed many women from different changer clans, they all want to add you to their own ranks." Syd had a look of utter confusion on her face until Lucretia added the next bit. "Including my cousin Moira..." Syd had the good grace to blush, but her rosy cheeks didn''t last long, she had just spent a few hours perusing much more perverted stuff than anything she''d ever done. With a growing grin, she asked, "would you like a demonstration?" Lucretia sputtered out a half-hearted rejection. "I''m here on business, and to deliver a message from Moira, that''s all." Syd rolled her hand, prompting Lucretia to continue. "This card is all the information you need to contact us, or find and use our online services. In the modern world, we have real time auctions hosted over the internet, and sell nearly anything." Lucretia took a deep breath. "Which means we also sell information ¡ª your personal profile already has many hits." Syd didn''t like the sound of that, but there was little she could do about it. "The abyss organization tries to remain a neutral party in all dealings, we merely profit off the proceedings, and facilitate transportation. There are also options to handle all of your banking and personal obligations, such as taxes." "Is it possible to pay for everything in cash?" Syd asked hopefully, she really didn''t want to do any banking. "Yes, there are cash on delivery options available in most cases," Lucretia answered as she pulled out a vial full of red liquid. "This, is a gift from Moira. She implores you to join the vampires, and assures you that among us, you will be safe." Syd shifted nervously as soon as her observe skill told her what was in the vial. "Is that Moira''s blood?" Lucretia nodded in confirmation. "Yes, if you are to join us, simply drink the blood." "Downsides?" ''Good,'' Lucretia thought. ''She''s taking this seriously.'' "Weaker during the day, stronger at night. Blood isn''t necessary, but it does make us stronger. People don''t get turned if you bite them, it is perfectly acceptable to take a lover from a different species. The older you get, the more vampiric abilities you''ll unlock. Moira''s father is known for turning into shadows. However, many of our weaknesses, other than burning in the sunlight, are mostly true. Bibles and the cross don''t hurt us, but garlic and wooden stakes do." "Immortality?" Syd asked skeptically. Lucretia shook her head sadly. "No, that would imply that we cannot die. We are everlasting, but not immortal. Do you have an answer for me?" Syd gingerly twirled the vial in her fingers, an action that nearly gave Lucretia a heart attack, it''s very rude to treat the princess'' blood in such a way. "I''ll consider it, I also know where to find the vampires if I choose to join. Thank you for warning me about my current celebrity status," Syd responded sincerely. "Then this is where we part ways for now. I wish you luck, Sydney Kael." Sydney choked down a gasp as Lucretia dissolved into a storm of bats and flew away. She had not expected that. "You can come out now," Syd called to the darkness. "It always feels like I¡¯m being stalked when you''re around, Lucia." Long arms covered in white fur wrapped around Syd''s midsection a few seconds later, she could feel Lucia''s hot breath upon her neck. "You''ve never let me get this close to your mouth before," she commented idly. "I''ve never considered turning you before," Lucia admitted candidly. "Wanna be a wolf? It''s great you know?" Syd wasn''t feeling threatened at all, she knew Lucia well enough to know when the girl was in a happy mood, and this was definitely a happy Lucia wrapped around her. Another odd thing was that she''d never heard Lucia say more than two or three words at a time before. Full sentences? Someone is feeling talkative tonight. "Partial transformation?" Syd asked, raising an eyebrow at the rough paws that were making muffins on her toned abs. "Yup, this is one of the simpler tricks," Lucia confirmed. "Imagine my surprise when mother ordered me to go bite the new gravity witch running around town, and it turned out to be you." Syd chuckled ruefully, it would seem she wasn''t supposed to get a choice here. "Why haven''t you bitten me yet?" Lucia slowly traced the nape of Syd''s neck with her canine teeth. "I like you, and I like that you like me, so I don''t want you to hate me." Syd nodded quickly, desperately trying not to let Lucia get to her. She was darn glad that she''d gotten to know Lucia before. The only reason she wasn''t being gnawed on was because a girl liked her, thank god. "We''re always very careful with our germs," Lucia began, "because infection is so easy." She licked the back of Syd''s neck and trailed kisses towards her shoulder. Syd resisted the urge to moan as Lucia gave her a hickey. After silvery-white hair left the corner of her vision, she asked. "I take it you''re being careless right now since I''ll probably not last the night without being changed into something?" Lucia nodded succinctly as her fingers began to trace Syd''s glossy lips. "I also know you''d love being a wolf, but the choice yours. Either way, after tonight, I get to kiss you¡ even if it hurts." The smile on Lucia''s face, such a sweet smile full of honest yearning made her want to make good on that kiss right now. Turning away from Lucia''s golden eyed gaze was more difficult than she''d like to admit, but Syd somehow managed it. Before Syd could ask for some time alone to think, she felt Lucia''s fingers under her chin, forcing her to look up at the girl again. "Now watch me walk away," Lucia growled deeply. "I know you love the show." Syd could only gape in astonishment as Lucia seductively, slowly, prowled away from her. At some point the wolfish woman had gotten out of her pants. It''s one thing to watch Lucia''s rear walk away in a pair of jeans, but it''s damn near unbearable to see that same thing done in white garters.

Chapter 8: ~Team Killer~ Chapter 8: ~Team Killer~ Everlasting, that''s what she had called it. Syd was still staring at the vampire blood nearly half an hour later. Her swinging had stopped by now, more important things were racing through her mind. In stories about immortals you always hear the woe is me bullshit, and think, what an idiot. Now here she was, the ticket in her hand, and she was hesitating. Although, this wasn''t immortality, this was becoming everlasting. If she ever got tired of life, then big deal, she could off herself. In fact, Syd wasn''t sure why she was hesitating, until one glance in the direction her wolfy seductress had prowled off to reminded her. With a lofty sigh, Syd popped the cork and downed the entire vial of steely liquid. Syd''s entire body surged with adrenaline, her mind couldn''t help but compare it to an orgasm, all the powerful feelings without the ecstasy. Seriously, she felt like she could lift a car for a few seconds, then it faded. "Huh," she mumbled. "I don''t feel very different..." *Ding!*

Genesis : ???
Sometimes you meet someone with a mysterious past. Sometimes, you realize that person is yourself. Who the hell are you? Who were your parents? Why is this happening? You''ve been left with too many questions, and no answers. Life isn''t always fair, but in this case, life made you its bitch. - You''ve discovered that you''re not human. That begs the question, what''s higher on the food chain than a supernatural predator who preys upon human beings? -??? Completion award: -???
Syd''s rapid critical thinking had picked up on the ''not human'' bit as soon as she read the first window. That really didn''t help her figure out what the hell she is, but she had sort of expected this, it was one scenario after all. For some reason, Syd felt like she should be insulted. Of all the abilities she could have gotten, one of them was to make her tongue long, and really easy to control. She promptly whipped it out Freddy Krueger style and almost bit the damn thing off. Syd''s tongue had shot out like a three foot missile then jerked her entire head forward. That was gonna take some work to get right, but she really couldn''t fault the gamer system for giving her this ability, she had spent a lot of time using her tongue after all. Enhanced intellect made her jump up and let out a small cheer. She''d be able to stack up a few more sustained skills now. The ability was a simple bonus of another twenty points to her base mana pool per point of intellect. Speaking of intellect, her gamer sense was telling her that there was something important she should do. Without even considering the consequences, Syd turned her head left, then licked the hickey Lucia had left on her shoulder. If she had been thinking more clearly, Syd may have remembered that there is a good reason why vampires and werewolves are natural enemies. What happened next was pain, pure unadulterated pain surging through every nerve in her body. Syd fell off her swing and began to convulse on the sand. Whatever was in Lucia''s spit did not like what Moira''s blood had done to her body. *Ding!*

-Passive mana regen +2.3% -Effective Range = 3.2m
Syd cursed like a sailor as she deactivated [Enhanced Senses], that was going to take some work. All of a sudden her world had exploded from pain to confusion. So many things she couldn''t even describe had assaulted her senses. The bad part was she really liked the mana regen that sustained skill had given her. Now that she''d taken it off for the first time since learning [Mana Sense] the world looked duller, less... bright. As soon as she could catch a break to get some training done there were three things Syd knew she would do first. Learn reinforcement, control her tongue, and figure out the enhanced senses. Because of her latest screw up Syd was feeling a bit nervous. She could have gone to either the wolves or vamps and had safe haven for a while. Training as one of them would have helped her along immensely. Now that seemed like a bad idea, for all she knew they''d be able to tell she fucked up. Maybe she ended up tasting and smelling like high grade sushi, that would seriously suck. So, with no other safe options, Syd checked her world map, and slipped on her skates. Riley''s lessons would save her ass here, gods she loved that woman. Within ten seconds Syd spotted a safehouse on the outskirts of town. It was time to get the hell out of dodge.
Syd''s new skates were really getting a workout already. It took her nearly an hour of skating to make it to the waypoint, that''s right, waypoint. With the compass option on she could see any markers left on her world map. Really nice when you don''t feel like staring at a transparent map all day. Just as Syd was getting used to the chill morning air breezing by her at high speeds, she spotted her destination. An abandoned farm house, or at least, the overgrown field behind that farmhouse. After making sure she was all alone out in the countryside Syd began to wade through the growth. If it wasn''t for her compass she was sure it''d take hours to find what she was looking for, but luckily, she did have a gamer compass. Four minutes, plenty of annoying scrapes, two frickin'' snakes, and an anthill later ¡ª Syd was staring at the reinforced door to a bunker. Syd used the combination of numbers on her world map to unlock the hatch. Inside the narrow tunnel entrance was very poorly lit, and very musty smelling. Biting the bullet, and killing her nerves, she descended into the unknown. If Riley wasn''t yanking her chain, then at the end of this long narrow tunnel would be an emergency bunker. A safe place for operatives to escape to, always fully stocked, and supplied with power. Riley had also made sure that Syd knew how to call it in after she was done with the bunker so that they knew to restock it. Didn''t want to get any operatives in trouble for not following protocol. So here she was, at the end of the tunnel staring into a surprisingly well equipped facility. Showers, toilets, bunk beds, mess hall, gym, shooting range, and enough space for at least twenty people to live comfortably for a while. Damn, she hadn''t expected all of this, nor had she expected the five field operatives, plus one, pointing guns at her right now. Syd gingerly held up one hand and gave them a wave. "It''s a really nice day outside, don''t ya think?" Four completely serious glares and one laughing idiot was all the thanks she got for her trouble. "Identification code," A rather stern, large, and possibly German man said in a tone the brooked no room for argument. "Any of you know Riley Tombs?" she asked hopefully. Three of them had a brief moment to stare at her in shock before the big asshole cocked the hammer on his pistol. "Keep talking girl." Syd composed herself and asked a question instead of explaining why she was here. "Do all of you know about the ''other side'' of Scottsville?" The man''s pistol lowered just enough to not be aiming at her knee, yes, the son of a bitch was gonna shoot her in the knee. "The abyss, yes." Syd sighed in relief, that meant she wasn''t totally boned. She could also tell that the three who knew Riley were putting one and one together already. "I''m a recent natural born power user that Riley found. Kinda ended up with every changer clan in Scottsville trying to recruit me, so I got the hell out of dodge." The big man disarmed slowly, and rubbed the bridge of his nose. "An agent gave you access to one of our safehouses?" Syd nervously rubbed the back of her head. "I may have taken a peek at some maps that I had no right memorizing," she lied. ''Better not get Riley in any trouble here.'' Once again, she was getting the flat looks. Thankfully, the young blonde American idiot who had been laughing asked a good question. "Why were all of the changer clans after you?" "Not for my power, if that''s what you''re asking." "What is your power?" A rather sadistic looking, also possibly Russian woman asked sharply. This woman still had a gun pointed at her, but it was aimed at her head. Still better than the knee in her opinion, seriously, who kneecaps people? "Gravity manipulation, wanna see?" Syd asked hopefully. Her lucky American idiot played along. "Do it!" With a flick of her wrist she sent out a spell that manipulates mass in order to replicate a wave of force. In less than a single second all six people other than her were kissing asphalt. Syd took that moment to whip out her own pistol and keep it on the plus one in the room. Riley had made sure she knew that her abilities needed to be kept secret, so she''d have to try to expose the elephant in the room, without exposing herself. "Gravity control is all about manipulating mass," she began as the spies got their bearing back. "Why is that person''s mass nowhere near what it should be?" Syd actually couldn''t tell what the hell its mass was, but this seemed like a good excuse to her. Guns that had once been pointing at Syd, were now aiming at the ground. They each took turns glancing between Syd, then at the person Syd was aiming at. Slowly but surely, every gun in the room was pointing at the blonde american idiot. This tale has been pilfered from Royal Road. If found on Amazon, kindly file a report. Lv. 23 - Ao Nii It did not seem like a human name at all, and it definitely was not an agent. "Rick, what the hell is she talking about?" The gruff hardass that had questioned her originally seemed to be their go to leader. ''Rick'' smiled bemusedly, suddenly his size shrank by a few feet as his head blew up like a balloon. Staring back at them now with the most unnerving set of teeth and tusks she''d ever seen, was a creepy little fuck she could definitely see being named Ao Oni. Large glassy eyes looked directly at Syd as it spoke. "Aw shucks, ya caught me." Then all hell broke loose. The little monster turned into a whirlwind of blood and gore as it tore through the nearest three agents, the three she hadn''t really paid any mind this whole time. Bullets were being fired into the bloody mist that was a source of dying screams, but Syd doubted that was doing any good. Just as the bloody mist began to dissipate a bluish streak went soaring through the air towards the Russian woman. Just before it hit her Syd fired off what her mind liked to call ''force push''. With a sickening crunch the little bastard slammed into a wall, hard. Another mental command fired off her well practiced grav ring. The tornado of death began to crawl towards them in a very tenacious display of willpower. By now the big guy was walking back towards it with a shotgun in hand. Ao Nii barely had time to snarl at him before its big head exploded. Syd found herself having thoughts of creating her own zombie apocalypse instant dungeons for fun someday. "So," Syd commented blandly, "that just happened." "Put your gun down Natasha, we may need her." The big guy seemed to be a voice of reason at the moment. Was that chick really pointing a gun at her again? Syd turned around and sure enough, there was still a gun aiming at her. Thankfully, the voice of reason had done its job, because the gun was soon down. "We had been investigating rumors about a very violent strain of demons arriving in the area. Normally, that wouldn''t be our job, but these ones seemed to prey only on humans, so the clans didn''t feel like it was their responsibility if we could handle it ourselves." Syd cringed, the man sounded very bitter. "By the time four of our ten man team was dead, we decided to call it in and head back to headquarters for a debriefing. We hadn''t gotten a single clue, and we were bringing the creepy little thing with us," he grumbled. Syd was half listening as she poked the dead monster with her shoe. Thank god for gamer''s mind, or she''d be freaking the fuck out right now. The man looked up at her and Natasha seriously. "Grab what you can, and get ready to leave. That thing was in here with us and we''ve no way to know if others know where we are right now. I do not like our chances out there in the overgrowth if there are more of them in it."

The Gamer: Slay the Horde of Ao Oni waiting in ambush at the old Carlson fields.
Ao Oni are vicious little demons that move quickly and tear their prey to shreds with teeth and tusks. Their little bodies are weak, but actually hitting one can be a problem. "Fuck my life," she muttered helplessly. Natasha had heard her though. "What is it?" "You know how my gravity manipulation works with sensing mass right?" she lied again. Natasha and leader both nodded, not liking where this was going. "I didn''t think of it on the way in, thought they were wildlife, but I definitely felt seven others just like this," she kicked the dead body, "out there." The leader, as she liked to call him since he hadn''t introduced himself, looked suitably grave. Natasha was just pale as a ghost. "We need a plan," he said. Syd cocked her head sideways. "Got anything that can start a fire... no wait, don''t want normal people running this way to put out the fire." Natasha gave her a strange look. "You''re thinking about the safety of others in a situation like this?" Leader clapped a proud hand on her shoulder. "That is a good habit, never lose it." "Uh, thanks," Syd tilted her head back for a moment. "I don''t actually know how to shoot a gun, I''ve only read books about them so far. I had planned on learning soon, but that''ll have to wait. If I sit up on the bunker and flatten the surrounding overgrowth, think you can shoot seven of them before they get to us?" Leader grinned as he cocked his shotgun. "You fuck with gravity, we''ll fuck them up." Syd smiled warmly at the two agents. "Names Sydney Kael by the way, if we survive this put in a good word for me with your bosses." "Logan," leader responded. Finally she got him to introduce himself. Even if his real name was Peter Aristov. "After you," Natasha said, urging Syd on. "Let''s do this now before I lose my nerve." Syd knew she could probably improve their chances by pulling out the big guns in her inventory, but she was confident enough that gravity spells flying around them would be enough. There was also the small fact that both of these people''s names were in red to her, so for some reason her gamer sense was saying enemy. Syd had trusted it so far, she''d even killed that assassin over her gamer sense friend or foe identification. These two were dead, even if the Ao Oni didn''t get them, she would. The only reason Syd didn''t think that her gamer friend or foe system is based on her own intuition, was because two of the dead agents inside had been yellow the whole time. Only Natasha had been red the entire time, and ''Logan'' turned red the second she mentioned Riley. If this asshole had a beef with Riley, then he was dead.
So here she was, sitting on top of the bunker entrance with two hostile trigger happy spies. As soon as they were in position she covered all directions with grav rings. For over ten meters in every direction the overgrowth hit dirt. Three yelps also alerted her temporary allies to their targets. Within ten seconds her quest counter popped up with a three out of seven kill count. The other four realized that stepping into a high gravity area was a bad idea, but she could see them out there, moving through the grass, screaming angrily about their dead. Syd intentionally didn''t recast one of the grav rings and sure enough. One of the little guys noticed her trap, although it wasn''t a trap for the oni. Logan spun on his heel as soon as he heard Natasha scream in fright. A mouth of tusks and teeth connected with her neck as two of the oni pounced her. With a force push Syd shot all three, Natasha and two demons, into one of the grav rings. The little things were crawling quickly towards Syd, but Logan was already on it. Five seconds later and there were only two left. "Dammit," he cursed, "how did that happen!?" "They jumped over my grav rings," she lied. "Watch the sky for the last two, just in case." With a nod Logan kept vigilant. Syd on the other hand had already spotted the last two Oni. Floating names really helped in situations like these. With a long time to prepare it, she overpowered a force push right into Logan''s back sending him flying at the last two Oni with a scream of terror. Syd nodded grimly as a single shot, followed by dying screams could be heard. From her position she cast another grav ring on the final two Oni. She could almost feel pity for the things as they crawled towards her. They were definitely faster than the first one, since that one had been smashed into a wall, but still, the things were slow like this. With a bit of overly dramatic finger swiping, Syd began to rain down force push spells on the Oni. It took seven overpowered pushes to squash the demons. *Ding!*

Level up!
"Ah," Syd sighed, "the smell of blood, death, and a level up. Good times." She curiously looked at the two people she''d just fed to demons. "Does this count as murder, or self defense?" Syd shrugged and yanked her cellphone out. "Hello," came Riley''s voice. "Riley, I kinda got into some trouble." "Already?" Syd chuckled ruefully as she scratched the back of her head subconsciously. "Well, every changer clan in Scottsville was after me from day one. It would seem that my reputation as a lover is to thank for that." She could literally hear Riley''s face meet her palm over the phone. "Only you Syd, only you." "Let me cut to the chase. My parents weren''t real, they''re gone now so I''m pretty much free to do as I please. I wanted to lay low for a while so I headed to one of the safe houses you showed me. It was... occupied." Syd explained contritely. Riley ignored the bit about her parents for now. "Define occupied." "Five agents, one monster that had been killing them off." Riley groaned at that point. "What happened?" "Well, we came to an understanding, I showed them who the monster was, then things devolved. In the end, all eight monsters and five agents ended up dead. I''m sorta sitting here now with my thumb up my butt, considering my options." Syd sighed with relief when a gust of wind blew away the smell of smoke and blood. Riley briefly considered what would be best for Syd now. "Tell me the safehouse you''re at and take off for another random one. Hope you get there, and hope it''s empty. I''d say come here and stay with me, but there''s no way I can protect you from seven clans trying to change you." "Carlson field''s safehouse," Syd immediately stated. "Gonna report what happened now?" "I don''t have to, my phone is tapped and keywords always set off alarms. Even if no keywords are used, the tapes get listened to once a week." Riley sounded a bit contrite. "Oh," Syd blushed furiously. "So all those sexy messages, and that time I told you that I wanted to know what phone sex was like, then tried to get you into it?" "Yup," Riley blandly admitted. "My husband and I catch a lot of flak because of those." "Sorry," Syd laughed. "Bunch of pervs, listening in on us." Riley sighed in frustration. "You can hang up now, Syd." Syd couldn''t help herself. "Love you sweetie, bye." Just before she snapped her cell phone shut Syd could hear Riley growling. Turning around, Sydney called out to the nearby overgrowth. "Hello again, Lucia."

Chapter 9: ~St. Lucia~ Chapter 9: ~St. Lucia~ "Why?" Lucia asked, glancing at the two dead agents. There was no judgement in her voice, only curiosity. "They were probably going to kill me when the Ao Oni were dead, so I killed them first," she answered simply. Syd had seen Lucia''s name out there when their fight started, the wolf must have followed her scent here. Lucia nodded patiently, she took a closer look at Syd from afar. "I wish you chose wolf," she commented wistfully. "How much do you like me Lucia?" Syd asked. This girl had always been a woman of few words, but her words, while few, meant so much more than most. "Too much," she answered bluntly. Syd smirked at the wolf who was now standing face to face with her. She could die happy staring into those golden eyes. "Can you keep my secrets? From everyone?" Lucia had a really cute puzzled expression flashing across her face for a few seconds. It was like she was saying, ''duh'', ''idiot, don''t I already do that?'' "I chose both." Lucia gasped in shock. "Yeah, I know it was stupid now. Nobody told me I couldn''t choose both, so I drank the blood and took in some of your dna with it." By now Lucia was running her hands over Syd''s form and panicking. "Hurt like a bitch, and didn''t turn me the way it should''ve, but I''m alive somehow." Lucia was satisfied with her health for the moment, so Syd took her by the hand and led them away. "Can we talk somewhere else? This place is about to get busy." Lucia gripped her hand tighter, urging Syd to lead on. "Almost lost you..." Syd didn''t respond, instead she massaged Lucia''s palm in a calming manner. Lucia inched closer until she could wrap an arm around Syd''s waist. Being taller than most girls, it was rare for Syd to get the chance to rest her head on someone''s shoulder. So she happily took the opportunity that Lucia presented her with. Lucia on the other hand, sniffed Syd''s hair for a few seconds. "Still human..." Syd took that to mean that she still smelled like a normal human, which was a damn good thing. Now if only she could get Lucia to talk in full sentences again, this morning''s Lucia was one sexy bitch.
On the outskirts of Scottsville is where they found themselves. Lucia had gotten a devious smirk on her face, picked Syd up bridal style, and begun jumping across rooftops. That was the convenient thing about illusion barriers. They were easy to create and break, so if you wanted to fly or jump somewhere quickly without being seen, pop a few barriers. It was that simple, assuming you don''t mind other people who can sense illusion barriers seeing you do it. Although, that''s a pretty moot point since so many people use the same method. On a rooftop that wasn''t too high or too low, adjoined to a menacing clock tower that looked over their school, Lucia held Syd in her arms, not quite ready to put the woman down. She had almost lost Syd this morning without even realizing it. People do not survive being infected by a wolf and turned into a vamp, it just doesn''t happen. Now, in her arms, was the object of her affections. Said object had just done the impossible, she survived. Lucia wasn''t stupid, she knew how Syd was, a free spirit if you will. It had always bothered her that so many people took for granted what she couldn''t have. Sexual secretions didn''t pass on lycanthropy, so certain things could be done, but saliva was positively loaded with lycan germs. A kiss to a werewolf is so much more than that, it''s a taste, a promise, sharing your being with another person. When a wolf gives away their heart, it''s for life, they choose one partner, one true love to give undying loyalty. Lucia hadn''t taken it seriously as a child, she didn''t know what sort of phenomenon bound her kind to it. Something like a geass that binds your very being to another person''s soul. The worst part, Lucia had done it by accident...
It was a normal day in class, school had just begun again. Students hustling here and there to figure out where their new classes are. Vamps looking a bit under the weather, ghouls taking care of all the vamp''s needs. Lucia was gazing out of her window, she''d always get a window seat, no matter what. This morning she had smelt it in the air ¡ª rain, a rare sun shower. A small bit of entertainment was what she had been expecting, panicked students running around like madmen. Drenched rats, spinning umbrellas, and the occasional person wearing a trash bag. Dignity at its worse. This sun shower though, changed her life. Lucia''s golden eyes were sharp, and she could see very far. So when a tall black haired girl was happily twirling about the road, soaking up the rain with rays of sun shining down upon her, it caught the wolf''s eye. From that moment on she watched the girl. It was like she was in another world, laughing and smiling, splashing water to and fro. Then her ears picked it up, the girl had begun to sing. It was beautiful, a song about love, about life. She was no Madonna, but the emotion in her voice as she cheerfully absorbed the rain and spun about was awe inspiring. Everything about the girl called out to her in that moment, this was what it meant to be alive, to be happy, to be loved. Then it happened, Lucia''s heart exploded in her chest, beating more rapidly than she''d thought possible. Gazing at the black hair blue eyed girl had sealed her fate, she hadn''t meant to, but Lucia Vulpanthorp had given her heart to another woman, a woman who was already in love...
Lucia had cursed that day for months, falling in love shouldn''t just happen like that, especially not for a lycanthrope. However, it had happened, and she did love someone that could never be hers. A human being that loved someone else. So she had broken her own heart by sealing away every emotion tied to the sunshower dancer. Until, one day she''d heard an absurd rumor. A flicker of hope suddenly sealed the cracks in her broken heart...
"I''m telling you it was the best night of my life," the girl said. "You''ve got to try it." Lucia''s jaw had never dropped so far before. She continued to listen in on their conversation. "You''re not joking, are you?" The girl shook her head rapidly. "I swear on my life. Sydney took me to her lover''s place, we talked a bit, and at some point studying with Sydney turned into a threesome." Both of them were blushing, and Lucia could easily smell the arousal, it was difficult to rein in her jealousy towards them. "Best night of your life?" The girl nodded seriously. "They''re lovers all the time, so when I came along they sort of focused on me... double teamed me. I felt things in places I didn''t know I had. I''m not even kidding, you have got to find a way to get Sydney to take you home. I had at least a dozen climaxes, and I literally passed out, then I woke up to breakfast in bed. They make my boyfriend seem so... disappointing." The girl she was talking to nodded seriously. This advice had not fallen on deaf ears.
Lucia had taken the rumors with a grain of salt. Her heart was a jealous heart, and she wasn''t sure it would be a good idea to try things with Syd, even on a casual basis. Lucia was worried that when the moment came, she''d lose herself in those azure eyes, and bite her, turn her into a wolf so that they could be together. It just wouldn''t be fair to Syd. Of course, her noble sacrifice had to get derailed within the week.
Lucia was being her usual stoic self, her mother had forced her to wear a skirt today, she hated skirts. It also sucked being so tall, skirts and tall just do not mix in her opinion. Then her mother had to go one step farther. In Lucia''s opinion, skirts, tall, and thongs, do not mix. She was so embarrassed she''d kill her mother. Why couldn''t the woman understand that she didn''t want to attract a mate? So here she was, biting the bullet, being late to every class so that she could walk through hallways and climb stairs when no other students were around. "By the gods," Lucia heard a whisper, it was a voice she would recognize anywhere. "That has got to be the sexiest ass I have ever seen." Lucia froze in shock, she was afraid to look, to see who her heart''s desire was leering at while whispering that. In the end though, curiosity won, so she turned a bit, and got another shock. "A-a-are you?" Lucia stuttered. Syd continued to admire the view. "Looking up your skirt?" she asked. Lucia nodded sheepishly. "Why yes, yes I am. I didn''t mean to, but I did, and now I can''t stop." Lucia''s brain took a moment to catch up. Was she being serious? "Why not?" "You''ve obviously never checked yourself out before. It must be the athletic build or something because I have never seen someone with such a perfectly toned rear." Lucia flexed her legs a bit on reflex and was almost shocked when Syd let out a pleased sigh, almost. Smiling deviously she put her hands on the railing, leaned forward while arching her back, and asked her heart''s desire a perfectly innocent question. "Wanna touch?" Syd nearly had a heart attack. Lucia thanked her mother with all her heart, skirts weren''t so bad in the right company after all. With a gasp, she realized that someone had gotten a bit naughty, and thongs weren''t so bad either. By the end of the day, she''d been invited by Syd to two different janitor''s closets, and an at home study session. Life was good.
Lucia''s contemplative mood was interrupted by Syd poking her belly. "Gonna let me down anytime soon?" Syd asked. Lucia smiled gently at Syd and put her down on the roof. Syd peeked around Lucia and saw what she could only describe as a clubhouse. A very well built clubhouse on a rooftop overlooking the school. "This is?" she prompted. Lucia absently glanced in the direction of her home away from home. "A safe place." Syd decided to take her word for it. There really were very few places you''d be able to spot them from up here. Between the surrounding taller buildings, and the school, it was a very nice hiding place. Lucia must have built the clubhouse herself. "Thanks," she said, some of the tension leaving her shoulders. "I''ve been running myself ragged for a while now." "I figured," Lucia commented as she began to walk up behind Syd. Without even stopping she picked Syd up and continued towards the clubhouse. Syd giggled honestly for the first time in a long time. Lucia couldn''t help herself and began to nuzzle the back of Syd''s neck. Syd looked around to quickly take stock of her surroundings. Inside there were pleasant smelling herbs hanging up all around the place. Rugs and furs from various animals, all of them looked way too comfy. In the window was an old air conditioning unit, while strewn about here and there were a few fans, power strips, and a mini-fridge. Syd quickly lifted her legs when Lucia still didn''t stop. Her feet made contact with a solid thud and the door they''d been heading toward swung open. Syd was silently racking her brain about E rank luck becoming A rank luck somehow. In front of her was a huge bed that had more of the furs and rugs, plus comforters and body pillows. Lucia didn''t stop till Syd was kneeling on the foot of the bed. Then she let go and placed her hands on Syd''s back. With a swift and powerful motion, she literally tore the woman''s shirt to pieces. Syd yelped and spun around. "Not feeling very talkative, are you?" Lucia didn''t respond. She just slowly removed her own shirt, enjoying the growing sense of anticipation. Lucia had waited so long for this after all. Syd couldn''t help it, she stared, like really starred. Lucia was acting... odd. She''d crawled onto the bed, gotten inches away from her, and just stopped. Looking into one another''s eyes. Gazing, as only lovers do. Syd felt like she was missing something, something damn important. Slowly, Lucia''s fingers traced Syd''s lips, then pulled her closer by the chin. When their lips met, a similar memory passed through Syd''s mind. She''d felt this before, fire coursing through her veins, lightning going down her spine, drowning as your lips connect. That look in Lucia''s eyes was reflected in her own months ago, it was how she''d felt for Riley, it was first love. Lucia and Syd pulled an inch apart after what seemed like an eternity. The sound of their labored breathing as they leaned into one another was broken by Syd''s question, an important question that could make or break them. She had always thought Lucia was in it for the fun, for the kicks, but this, this wasn''t fun, this was... "Lucia," Syd began, drawing the other woman''s gaze again. "Do you love me?" Tears fell from Lucia''s eyes as she whispered ''yes''. She was afraid that her free spirit, her heart''s desire would leave her now. She hadn''t been jealous in months, Lucia could live with Syd being a free spirit, but she was afraid of losing Syd the moment that she''d been found out. Until, her lips were brought back into another kiss, a hungrier kiss full of desire. Then the fear was gone, dispelled as though it hadn''t existed. Syd gasped as she pulled back again, their foreheads pressed together. "How long?" Lucia descended and bit down on the strings of Syd''s scarlet bustier. "Since I saw you singing in the rain." Syd''s eyes widened comically. "That was the first day of school, like nine months ago! I''ve known you for what, five months?" Lucia kissed her way up Syd''s neck again, leaving a trail of purple marks in her wake. "Four and a half. You spotted me on the stairs..." That memory brought a fond smile to Syd''s lips. "... at first I was jealous, but at some point you corrupted me." Syd cocked her head to the side and moaned as Lucia nibbled on her ear. "Corrupted?" Lucia leaned back and nodded seriously. "Threesomes are one of the better things in life." Syd couldn''t help it, she busted out laughing. ''Them be words to live by right there, uh huh,'' she mentally chirped.
Syd silently stared at the wide back of her lycanthrope lover. She had never liked it when people bit her during sex, but the last few hours showed her those people just didn''t know how to bite right. Lucia must have been waiting forever to be able to use her mouth like that. Biting without causing pain is an art form, and her favorite lycan was a master without equal. Syd had been licked, kissed, and bitten all over her body ¡ª it was glorious. Lucia''s kisses were intense, needy, and passionate. Basically, it was everything that she had wished Riley would give her. Riley had a penchant for rough sex and domination, so she didn''t get to be all lovey dovey very often, and never like that. Even as she slept Lucia was curling into Syd, pulling her arms snug against her and humming contently. Unauthorized usage: this tale is on Amazon without the author''s consent. Report any sightings. Even though her world is all out of joint right now, Syd had found at least two reasons to survive. Lucia and Jules, they were worth living for. As Syd buried them both in more furs and snuggled closer, she thought of Riley''s habits. Riley wasn''t used to having a long time lover that could get comfortable with her kinks, so she used Syd like the opportunity she was. That woman loved to dominate, and it had gotten to the point where they had a small trunk for forbidden items. Things that Syd refused to use again. One such item had been excalibur, that strap-on was just too big, but Riley being Riley, she had found a way... a back way. Syd couldn''t sit straight for a week after that. Riley really loved it, but Syd had been crying tears of joy when they agreed to seal excalibur and lock it away. Of course, that didn''t stop Riley from using excalibur as punishment, and Syd would never admit that after the fourth or fifth time she loved excalibur just as much, maybe even more than Riley. That secret was going to the grave with her. Syd''s thoughts returned to Lucia as she dozed off for some well deserved rest. She hadn''t slept in nearly forty-eight hours now, and she''d murdered three people. Two of them were possibly good people that she just couldn''t afford to give the benefit of the doubt. She''d run a man over, brained him with a grav hammer, and fed two people to demons without batting an eyelash. She really hoped that ''A Gamer''s Mind'' was to blame for all that.
Syd woke up to find Lucia watching her sleep. It was admittedly equal parts cute, and unnerving. Before she could even get out of bed Syd had to endure nearly thirty minutes of kissing. Lucia seemed to be determined to make up for lost time now that Syd was immune to lycanthropy. Not that Syd was complaining. "So," Syd began, "I have these heightened senses that I can turn on and off at will, but they just confuse the hell out of me..." Lucia raised a curious eyebrow, she hadn''t realized that Syd had gotten anything out of her dangerous incident. However, this situation was common, she could help Syd with this. "It happens to all turned wolves. You need specific training to master the senses without going insane. Although, I don''t think you''ll go insane since you can somehow shut them off." Syd did a few happy little hops of joy. "So you can train me?" Lucia shuffled nervously, she didn''t want to let Syd down. "I''ve never done it before, I''m a natural born and I''m too young to help turned wolves learn." Syd took a moment to let her heart sink. "I''m glad to see you''re back to speaking whole sentences again." Lucia shuffled nervously behind Syd and wrapped both arms around her. "Stay here, I''ll go get help." Before Syd could protest Lucia was sucking her breath out again. The kiss was short but intense, and then she was gone, out the window at full speed.

A new Spell has been generated: Reinforcement!
Reinforcement Lv.1 ~ 0%
Reinforcement, while basic in theory, is often known as the most difficult magecraft. It works by pouring magical energy into a target in order to enhance its existence. Requires a good grasp of internal structure, because if used poorly, magical energy will be treated as a poison.
-Cooldown = 0 Seconds -Range = Touch -Od cost = Low
Syd reveled in the familiar sensation of knowledge assaulting her now structured mind. It had become easier and easier to make sense of incoming information as her intellect rose. Reinforcement, the bread and butter of all combat oriented magus. This spell, as she ran over it in her mind, was incredibly simple in execution. The problem was what to do with the od your pumping after execution. Deciding to go for broke, Syd whipped out a shuriken, and hit it with structural analysis. She wasn''t really sure what she was looking for here, so far there had been no visual signs of ''existence''. So without giving it much thought, she just pumped od into the weapon using reinforcement... It promptly exploded in Syd''s hand, shrapnel peppered her body painfully and the shirt she was wearing was definitely a goner. Glancing at her health made Syd gag, she''d lost just over four hundred points. If she had done that before getting enhanced vitality, she''d be dead right now. As it was, she only felt half dead. Syd watched in morbid curiosity, the pain and wounds faded while her health regenerated, handy. Before Syd continued her experiments she stripped down naked and got comfy on a couple of furs. With safety in mind this time, she pulled out her stuffed snuggle bears, yes, she had taken her toys with her while leaving home. Once again structural analysis failed to show her anything that looked interesting, she had even kept it active while beginning the reinforcement process. Syd was tapping her finger on the teddy bear to test its hardness as she pumped od into it. Things seemed to be working, she could see how the composition of the bear was slowly but surely being covered in magical energy. The more od pumped in, the harder her bear got. Unfortunately, Syd''s joy turned to sorrow when the stuffed toy exploded in a violent cloud of cotton and razor sharp teddy fur. She''d lost nearly one hundred health, but this time it hurt more, nobody should ever feel a sliver of razor sharp fur piercing their chest. Much less a take a dozen of those splinters to the tits and face. Thank god she missed her eyes. Syd calmly centered herself in order to block out the pain. Even when her health was full again she continued to meditate. Something was wrong, even a sub par magus could use reinforcement, and she had read the entire scroll. Syd could feel it on the tip of her tongue, she was missing something here, something obvious. Existence, it hit her like a ton of bricks. The nasuverse is post ''age of the gods'' so the existence of everything constantly degrades, leaving behind cracks that can be filled with magical energy to enhance ''existence''. Here, in her world, there are power users and magic. This is likely an ''age of the gods'' time period. A world saturated in mana, Syd had sensed and absorbed it from the very air she breathed. That was her problem. *Ding!*

Reinforcement, while basic in theory, is often known as the most difficult magecraft. It works by pouring magical energy into a target in order to enhance its existence. Requires a good grasp of internal structure, because if used poorly, magical energy will be treated as a poison.
-Cooldown = 0 Seconds -Range = Touch -Od cost = Low -Maximum Boost = 1%
Syd''s eyebrows furrowed in concentration. So existence still remains a parameter, the only difference is that she had to identify the amount of existence an object has, then limit her reinforcement. On a hunch, she looked down at her next item, a piece of paper. Using the smallest amount of od she could, Syd pushed her energy into one corner. For five minutes she stared at it. The paper was stable, nothing was going wrong so far. Syd pulled out a pencil and swiftly ran it over the corner of her paper. Just as her pencil cleared the corner it was sliced cleanly in half... dangerous. Holding the paper out as far as she could, and keeping structural analysis up, Syd pumped a few units of od into it with reinforcement. This time she stopped and watched after dropping the paper. Slowly but surely, it was changing, her excess magical energy had made it unstable. All of a sudden she could see what could only be described as an implosion. The paper''s structure completely collapsed, then it shredded itself. On another hunch she took out one more piece of paper and tore off the corner. Syd then used the same amount of od on it as she had the first time, and watched as it shredded itself. Existence seemed to be directly related to the size of mundane objects. Syd had no doubt that magical items, like a noble phantasm, would have insane amounts of existence. But with mundane items, and likely her own body, she would assume the existence is directly proportional to mass. Syd''s next question was how much more she could reinforce per level. With that in mind she pulled out some lesbian porn from books-a-billion, and started reinforcing torn pages as much as possible before they shredded. Once in a while she would see a particularly pleasing page, and not tear it out, but for the most part Syd tore into the porn with reckless abandon. Less than a four minutes in, she had met her goal.
Reinforcement Lv. 2 ~ 0.21%
Reinforcement, while basic in theory, is often known as the most difficult magecraft. It works by pouring magical energy into a target in order to enhance its existence. Requires a good grasp of internal structure, because if used poorly, magical energy will be treated as a poison.
-Cooldown = 0 Seconds -Range = Touch -Od cost = Low -Maximum Boost = 2%
Syd''s eyes bugged out, if there were no diminishing returns on that raise... reinforcement would be insane. So, to answer yet another question she pulled out a second book. Shredding porn was hurting her soul, so this time it was a basic firearm safety manual. Syd was reading a page, then shredding it, over and over again.
Reinforcement Lv. 3 ~ 0.12%
Reinforcement, while basic in theory, is often known as the most difficult magecraft. It works by pouring magical energy into a target in order to enhance its existence. Requires a good grasp of internal structure, because if used poorly, magical energy will be treated as a poison.
-Cooldown = 0 Seconds -Range = Touch -Od cost = Low -Maximum Boost = 3%
Syd rolled back and forth across the floor giggling like a madwoman. Unless diminishing returns kicked in at a higher level, this meant that she''d be able to boost the parameters of entire objects with reinforcement, no worrying about blowing them up. For now though, she wanted to learn to use a spear and get reinforcement to at least level ten. For a moment, she almost did just that. Syd had a spear and shield from the european weapon shop she''d looted. It would be fun to hit goblins with gravity and poke them to death, but that wasn''t a good idea right now. Syd had forgotten that she was in Lucia''s clubhouse at the moment. Evidenced by the fact that two amused lycanthropes were looking down at her as she stopped her rolling on the ground. "What are you doing, and why does it smell like blood in here?" Lucia asked with obvious concern. Syd ignored the other woman and yanked Lucia down into a hug. "I was testing some magic. Hurt myself a bit, but it looks like I may have gotten a regeneration factor out of my mistake too," she lied with a straight face. Couldn''t tell Lucia the truth yet, not in front of stranger. The short auburn haired intruder interrupted anything Lucia may have had to say about that. "I''m Kylee Sander''s, been a wolf for two years now." The woman grinned down at her. "Lucy tells me you''ve got a ''sensitive'' problem." Syd sighed playfully when she felt Lucia kissing her neck again, the wolf could not keep her mouth to herself. "Yeah, just a bunch of confusion at the moment." Kylee raised an amused eyebrow at the attention a very naked Syd was getting. "Well I''m here to help you with that, shouldn''t take us too long." "Thanks," Syd responded, "really, thank you." In her mind, Syd was ecstatic, training would be so much faster with a mentor... Wait, she couldn''t get the mentor bonus while keeping her secret. ''Balls...''
