《The Last God (Online)》 Chapter 1: Tutorials for the Betrayed As the low rumble of students standing up signifying the end of lunchtime began the young men and women hanging around the cafeteria grumbled and chattered, rushing to the nearby exits and into the hallways full of students. The girl pulled up her hoodie and let it flop onto her head, following her fellow students out into the left hallway. Once the girl reached the lockers outside of her classroom she casually knelt down in front of her own and knocked her shoulders to hit the legs on either side of her so she had space to reach in and take out her books. ¡°Hey Nina!¡± Nina smiled as she stood back up and twirled around, spotting an enthusiastic hand waving at her. She walked forward a couple of steps but the flow of students blocked her from walking closer to her friend. She slowed her pace and walked into the classroom, spotting a blonde girl walking in a few seconds later. Nina smiled as her friend wheezed and panted, she knew that wrestling against the end of lunchtime crowd was more than enough to tire her lazy friend out. The girl lifted her head and Nina caught her hazel eyed stare head on. Hasha had always preferred spending hours on the couch reading a book or playing video games than exercising or tanning but Nina had long ago discovered that god wouldn¡¯t allow that to negatively affect her friends milky-chocolate skin or scandalously curvaceous figure. After a couple of seconds Hasha rolled her eyes helplessly and pointed towards the door they had just walked in from. *Pant* ¡°¡±Hey cutie, I¡¯m not in the mood for history. Let¡¯s skip?¡± Nina laughed as her friend grabbed her hand, pulling her in and locking their arms together. They walked out of the room and a small yelp left Hasha¡¯s mouth as the still present lunchtime crowd dragged them into its monstrous body and forced them slowly towards the school''s exit. A guys voice floated from within the crowd towards Nina as she was pushed past him. ¡°Did you hear that Silver Moon is retiring?¡± He indicated to his friend who confirmed that he had heard and shook his head sadly in response. ¡°Dude, I was waiting for him to show up at an official event. Five years being a pro gamer and nobody knows what he looks like. ¡°I guess now we¡¯ll never know.¡± The guys took a turn out of the flow of people and disappeared into a classroom. Hasha poked her tongue out at them and turned to face Nina. ¡°They say they¡¯re fans yet they don¡¯t even know Silver Moons real gender.¡± Hasha flicked her long black hair out of her face. Nina smiled at the girls slightly annoyed tone and squinted as they finally walked out the school building exit and the light hit her face. ¡°How do you stand it? All of your years of gaming and time spent accomplishing things no one else has and they all think you¡¯re a guy.¡± Nina¡¯s smile widened and dimples appeared on her pale white cheeks. ¡°Like I say, you get used to it after a few years. I should be asking you how you can¡¯t stand it after all this time.¡± Hasha laughed and the infectious sound floated through the air, causing several guys to look over at them and smile unconsciously. Nina¡¯s friend had always worried far more than Nina about her job as a pro gamer than she did. ¡°Well don¡¯t worry,¡± Her friend smiled as they reached a small black car and opened the doors, ¡°you¡¯ll always be a girl to me.¡± Nina giggled and lightly punched her friend on the shoulder. Hasha was the designated driver because of the sheer fact that she wouldn¡¯t allow anyone, even her best friend of fifteen years, to drive her precious car. ¡°Thanks. It¡¯s always great to know at least someone likes me for who I am.¡± Hasha smiled and turned up the volume of her music to the max. As soon as she begun to sing along to the track Nina zoned out and constant thoughts about the last few days events interrupted her rest. In truth Nina wasn¡¯t the best student, she didn¡¯t like sports and in terms of looks she wasn¡¯t winning the school beauty pageant. She had murky blonde hair and was skinny but leant more towards being lanky rather than pretty like Hasha. But there was one thing that Nina excelled at. Video games. During the course of her life Nina had spent countless hours playing video games, first person shooters, role playing games and battle arena type games were only a few of the dozens of genres of video games she had played. And all of them had been online multiplayer games. It wasn¡¯t as though it was an obsession or addiction that was negatively affecting her social life. Online video games had become a common form of socialising years ago and she had even managed to make it a part time job at some points by winning game tournaments with whatever teammates she made over the course of the game. Eventually she had found a game called Vitris Online and stuck to it for five years straight. Nina¡¯s eyes sparkled as she remembered discovering Vitris Online for the first time. It was an MMORPG, short for Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game, which had boasted an enormous open world with almost unlimited content. To her surprise it had more than delivered. Although Nina had played the game for five years straight since its release she still hadn¡¯t discovered everything there was to discover. But this was mostly because she had found something more interesting to do. She had gone pro. Varying between games the definition of the word ¡®pro gamer¡¯ changed. But for Nina it had meant that she would do two things differently compared to normal. Firstly she would customise her armour to feature the logos of several of her sponsors. Then she would join a corporate team and complete newly found dungeons in record times or fight in the Vitris Online player versus player arena with her teammates and deliver a heartfelt speech thanking her corporate overlords for their benevolence in letting her have the opportunity to be there. Nina wryly looked out the window as though she were gazing at her young self standing victorious in the Vitris Online arena, virtual blood covering famous brand names and holding up the silver sword ¡®Moon¡¯ which had led to her character being nicknamed ¡®Silver Moon¡¯. That had been five good years of fun and games. Her name and her team¡¯s names spreading across the gaming world. The best part was that even though she had been with them for years, the company had given her permission to keep her identity a secret. Even if she joined the team she didn¡¯t have to show her face. Anything she wanted to say could be typed and nobody would say a thing in objection. Money was delivered to her bank account by the company who couldn¡¯t care less about whether she was a girl or a guy. Everything was good as long as they kept on winning. And of course, after a while they had stopped winning. It wasn¡¯t anything big, a minor tournament upset here, a major tournament loss there. To the corporations sponsoring them the losses were minimal but some of them left and to make up for the loss in revenue the players had to make money some other way. The company had agreed that the players on the team had already become well known enough in the community that they could begin to market their faces and bodies to different brands. It had only been last weekend when her pro teams manager had told her a simple statement. She should reveal the fact that she was a girl to the world and allow the company to put her in an ad campaign or quit. The guys would be allowed group pictures in awesome uniforms. She had to wear a skirt even though she had never worn one in her life. The guys would take awesome group picture in gangster poses. She would be alone and forced to pose in all sorts of sexualised and demeaning positions for horny ten year old gamers to ogle online. She wouldn¡¯t be of any use to them if they couldn¡¯t make more money off of her and she was quietly reminded that skilled players could be found by the dozen. Nina snorted at the memory and Hasha looked at her curiously. She shrugged at her friend who gave her a small smile of encouragement. She could guess what her friend was thinking about. Of course, Nina had seen the kind of ridicule and online sexism female pro players were subjected to. She had promptly informed her manager of where he could stick her contract and stormed out angrily. She hadn¡¯t even been needed to write a retirement speech, the company had prepared one and stated that they were her words. At least they had respected her wishes of leaving her gender unknown. ¡°All those bastards,¡± Nina looked away from the window as the music suddenly silenced and Hasha began to speak, ¡°That think its alright for a woman to instantly be turned into a sex object for money as soon as you show a skinny pair of legs are the lowest scum of the earth. I¡¯m not just talking about your sponsors with their sticks up their asses. I mean those sexist pigs running your team and those bastard fans that think that just because you were so skilled you had to be a man. I¡¯ve never even heard someone suggest that you might be a girl on the online forums. And the one time someone in class mentioned it he was shot down so hard that you¡¯d think he¡¯d said you were Hitler. Mabe games just aren¡¯t meant for girls like us.¡± ¡°What ever is an innocent and young lady like me to do?¡± Hasha viewed the grinning Nina and realised her little speech had absolutely no effect on her. Her friend was a calm and collected as she had always been. At the same time Nina radiated joy at her friend''s words. To her a friend that cared so deeply about her problems was worth a lot more than a simple job. She had already played Vitris Online for five years and she had been considering moving to a new game for a while now. ¡°You¡¯re like a little bundle of joy aren¡¯t you.¡± Hasha smiled at her friends reaction and parked the car. The girls lived together in a small house. It was comfortable enough for them to rest at and since all they ever did was play games or go out they hardly needed something spacious. ¡°So, what are you going to play next?¡± As Nina pushed the front door open and the girls walked in she moved to her game room. Hasha followed close behind with a curious look on her face. As always the only thing to occupy the room was a computer on top of a small desk, a dark blue swivel chair and a virtual reality(VR) capsule large enough to fit a person in it. Nina clicked on the small touch screen monitor attached to the capsule and a small list of game names opened up. ¡°I was thinking I would go for a virtual reality game this time,¡± She clicked a couple of lines and a shiny virtual video game case filled the screen with the title and the logo of the game adorned in gold against a black background, ¡°Typing gets tiring after a while.¡± ¡°You still haven¡¯t answered my question.¡± Hasha squinted her eyes to read the small golden words on the screen, ¡®The Last God¡¯. ¡°Another RPG? Aren¡¯t you sick of those?¡± Nina turned so hard that she heard a snap, her eyes wide as though she had heard the most unbelievable thing in the world. ¡°Get sick of an RPG? are you crazy?¡° Hasha looked into Nina¡¯s fiery gaze for a good second before raising her hands in a gesture of surrender. ¡°Sorry, sorry. I don¡¯t know how I could have said something like that. Crazy old Hasha at it again. So what¡¯s this one about? Give me the short version please, and by short I mean something i¡¯ll understand.¡± A small cry like the sound of a puppy in need of food rose from Nina¡¯s mouth and she crawled into the capsule and looked up at Hasha. ¡°It¡¯s like Vitris Online. An open world that you¡¯re free to explore. I think there was something about several nations or races being at war to take over the continent. Something about a god too. But it was the classes and open world part that interested me. They¡¯re done some neat stuff with the classes in this game, as well as a couple of other aspects that look fun.¡± ¡°That¡¯s it?¡± Hasha looked at her friend and lifted her hands above her head dramatically, ¡°You couldn¡¯t swing for a bit of drama? No epic tale of a madman trying to destroy the universe. No gripping rendition of how a bored god is promising the first person to reach him a grand reward? Not even going to mention how popular it is at the moment?¡± ¡°Nope. No fun in searching all that stuff up is there. Have a nice sleep. Leave my dinner in the fridge.¡± Hasha could only watch helplessly as her best friend closed the capsule in her face and closed her eyes. Her mind was for all intents and purposes gone from this world and already in the next one and no amount of complaining Hasha did about it being Nina¡¯s turn to wash the dishes was going to change that. If you encounter this narrative on Amazon, note that it''s taken without the author''s consent. Report it. With a final look at the still body inside the capsule Hasha turned around and walked out of the room. ¡®The Last God. Maybe I¡¯ll take a look at it as well afterwards¡¯. **** Nina winced mentally as light flared across her vision and when she opened her eyes she was no longer inside the virtual reality capsule but instead standing in the middle of a black space, the sky and ground filled with countless stars as though the universe could be touched if she simply extended her hands. [The scan on your iris and vein has determined that you are an unregistered user. Do you want to create a new account?] A melodic voice floated out into Nina¡¯s mind but she found that she couldn¡¯t figure out if it belonged to a man or a woman. She gave the starry sky a sassy smile. ¡°That¡¯s what I came for.¡± An exact replica of Nina appeared in front of her and she gaze it a quick look over. Long murky blonde hair. Check. Floppy big ears. Check. Ghostly pale skin and tall lanky limbs. Check checkitty check check check. [Select the name of your avatar] Nina tilted her head in thought. She had never actually named her account Silver Moon in her previous game Vitris Online, and she had never had a name that she carried on each time she moved from game to game so making up a name on the spot was something she was used to. ¡°Betrayed.¡± Okay. Maybe Hasha was a tiny bit right. And maybe she was still a tiny bit angry at the people that had effectively forced her to retire. [Select your gender from male, female or neutral] ¡°Neutral¡± Nina was pleasantly surprised to see that the most important female parts had instantly vanished. Making her look like some sort of eery plastic doll. If a doll could look so life-like that is. [The Last God has Thirty Five races. You may select your race from the primary Thirty Five races.] This was probably the most time consuming part of the character creation for Nina. She had always picked a beast race or monster race over human races because they were always so much more cooler and not mainstream. NIna carefully viewed the races and grouped the races that had made the final cut together. Wolf Race-Lizard Race-Slime Race-Angel Race-Undead-Ogre Race-Zombie Race She had played as a wolf-person during her time on Vitris online and the Angels were too close to human for her liking. Undeads, Zombies and Ogres all looked way too ugly for her and she would honestly never be caught dead as one. ¡°Well I don¡¯t feel like being a Lizard, make my avatar a Slime please!¡± This decision wasn¡¯t based purely on looks though. Nina had viewed each races passive abilities and saw that Slime¡¯s took 20% less physical damage but in turn they also took 20% more magical damage. The replica of her instantly changed into a lime green jelly-like replica of her and she nodded in satisfaction. ¡°Computer can I change my colour please?¡± A small box filled with colours appeared in front of her and she picked out a nice golden yellow colour. It made her slime body look as though it was made of gold and it gave off a radiant yellow hue that was simply divine. Her favourite part was that it would clearly stick out amongst any other race in terms of brightness and memorability. She also changed her hair colour to match her body. The murky blonde was replaced with a radiant gold lustre. [Would you like to change the appearance of your avatar?] The melodic voice questioned Nina and she nodded her head. A small window appeared in front of her and she made the only three changes necessary. Firstly she increased her weight and muscle size by a small amount, giving her a physique people would typically associate with a male. Then she shortened her long hair into a cropped hair cut. And finally she gave herself an adam''s apple which was prominent enough for anyone to notice it. Surprisingly she had found that even if she had a feminine face nobody would guess the difference, and she hadn¡¯t picked the male gender because although she didn¡¯t want to be specifically female it didn¡¯t mean she wanted to be a man. Women had adam¡¯s apples too! ¡°Okay I¡¯m done!¡± [Would you like to make any final changes to your account or avatar?] ¡°Nah I¡¯m good. Thanks for asking hun.¡± Nina smiled as she teased the voice but it was clearly automated as it continued on without acknowledging the extra effort she put into her responses. [Your account has been activated. Your stats have been allocated to your avatar automatically you can decide your class at level ten] ¡°What are the starting stats?¡± [Stats of the slime race are; strength, agility, stamina, vitality, dexterity, intelligence and wisdom. 10 stat points have been allocated to each primary stat.] [Select your starting continent and city.] ¡°Just put me in the place where all the Slimes live.¡± [Confirm destination slime main village; Star Continent, Slime Valley.] ¡°Sure. Sounds like a pretty fun place to be.¡± [Would you like to take the Slime Valley tutorial?] ¡°Heck yeh I would. Slime me up buddy.¡± [Welcome to The Last God. I¡¯m sure a sassy girl like you wont have any trouble here] Nina¡¯s eyes widened at the voice¡¯s last comment and a chuckle floated through the air. But before she had time to think about it deeply there was a flash of light and all the stars surrounding her instantly disappeared. **** She felt as though she were flying blindly through the air and the next second the light retracted and she found herself standing on a windy plane with lush grass spreading as far as her eyes could see. The breeze blew lightly through her hair and she smiled as the daylight warmed her skin. Virtual reality technology was definitely way better than computers when it came to experiencing the game. She stretched her limbs and moved her arms about in arcs while stomping on the ground. She smiled as she tried to use as many virtual muscles as she could so she wouldn¡¯t fall and crash at the first step she took. ¡°Greetings newcomer. I see you¡¯re already getting comfortable¡± Betrayed turned around and wasn¡¯t surprised to see that a small green slime was standing in front of her. Though she noted that it didn¡¯t actually have legs like she and instead was the typical old RPG type slime that had a round bouncy body that looked cute and cuddly. Its round eyes made it look like a child and she was delighted to see that it actually had a small gray moustache attached underneath its eyes to make it look old and regal. It just made the thing look even more adorable. Although she had turned around rather quickly she was happy to see that it didn¡¯t feel weird at all. It was exactly like moving her body in the real world. The slime¡¯s moustache tussled slightly as it gazed at her. After a couple of seconds it coughed and its body quivered slightly. ¡°I am the tutorial instructor slime, Phillip. Actually, I¡¯m old and it¡¯s quite hard to raise my voice to reach all the way there though. Would you mind walking a bit closer newcomer?¡±
Try walking to Phillip the Slime.
A message box appeared in front of Betrayed and she daintily bounced towards Phillip the Slime. She would have liked to bounce in a slime-y sort of way but unfortunately although her body was made of slime she hadn¡¯t gained any super bouncy properties except that her body jiggled every time she moved. A small arrow had appeared on top of Phillips head and as Betrayed moved closer to him she saw that the arrow got slightly bigger, signifying that he was her target. When she got close enough Phillip let out another cough. ¡°That¡¯s more like it newcomer. So come on then. What¡¯s your name? I don¡¯t have time to stand here all day and not have people naming names.¡±
Try talk to Phillip the Slime.
¡°Aren¡¯t you a cute little Slime! My name¡¯s Betrayed. It sounds harsh but don¡¯t let it get to you. Old men aren¡¯t supposed to worry about stuff or they could die. Mostly from old age though.¡± Before Phillip could reply to Betrayed¡¯s words a small puff of purple smoke suddenly filled the air in front of them. The air filled a small area, about half a metre wide and long, and then suddenly disappeared. Standing in its place was a small, round purple slime with red eyes and a frown on its face. A faint aura of dark light was emanating from it and Phillip immediately started quivering as he saw it. ¡°That¡¯s an evil slime. Oh, I wasn¡¯t expecting this to happen. But luckily its just been born and is only a baby. If we leave it here it¡¯ll haunt this plain and prey on innocent people and animals. It¡¯s not very powerful so if you could please kill this baby evil slime I would greatly appreciate it.¡± Phillip looked at her and suddenly a sword appeared from his body and its hilt was facing towards her. Betrayed immediately grabbed it and swung it around experimentally.
You have gained the beginner¡¯s sword.
A message box appeared in front of her asking her if she would like to equip the weapon and she clicked yes.
You have equipped the beginner¡¯s sword.
Slay the baby slime.
Betrayed viewed the little creature in front of her. Its purple was deep and murky, as though it had been polluted in some way. Its red eyes were slanted rather than beady and cute. She stabbed her sword at it and felt the weapon sink into its jelly-like flesh. But despite the fact that it was only a tutorial grade monster she didn¡¯t kill it in one blow. The creature growled at her but didn¡¯t move to attack and she slashed at it again. This time the creature was blown back and its body slowly sunk into the ground into a puddle of goo. Darkness swirled around the creature¡¯s body and exited the monster¡¯s pores by floating into the sky and disappearing. The goo left behind slowly evaporated as well and Phillip the Slime breathed a sigh of relief. ¡°I think you for that newcomer. Who knows how many innocent beings that evil slime could have hurt if it had been left alone. It shames me to know that that thing was a slime. Such monsters are common on the Star Continent and I suspect that you will have to slay quite a few in the future. But from the skill you showed just now you should have no trouble at all.¡± Seeing Betrayed smirk that was spread across her face Phillip¡¯s moustache and body quivered, ¡°of course, you still need lots of training until you could hope to reach my level. Perhaps ten, no, perhaps a hundred years worth of training should help you.¡± ¡°But wait.¡± Phillip turned to look at the ground where the pile of goo had been. ¡°The evil slime appears to have dropped something.¡± Lying on the grass was a small purple gem. Betrayed didn¡¯t even wait for Phillip to talk before walking over and picking it up.
You have picked up the item: Purple Soul Stone (Petty). Stats: This item does not add to your current stats. Weight: 0.30kg Description: A decorative stone said to contain part of a creatures soul. It is purple in colour. A soul stone of this calibre is considered worthless.
A message box appeared in front of Betrayed instructing her in how to put the stone in her inventory and it disappeared from her hands. When she looked at the inventory she saw that it seemed to be based on weight she could carry rather than on inventory space. Phillip looked up at her and nodded. ¡°I must congratulate you newcomer. You¡¯ve completed the tutorial splendidly and i¡¯ll now send you to Slime Valley. It is of course the greatest gathering of slimes in the entire world and my own hometown. Should you become a fighter for us one day then as is the destiny of all great fighters, we will eventually meet again. I bid you good day and good luck on your future journeys.¡± The lush grass and Phillip the Slime blurred slightly and began to whirl around Betrayed as she was sent from the plains to the Slime Village. She smiled and closed her eyes to relax. This is where the real game begins. Chapter 2: Magicians and Rabbits Bright sunlight struck Betrayed¡¯s eyes. She lifted a hand to shield her eyes as she surveyed the surrounding village. She was surprised to find that instead of blocking the light, the sunlight actually grew more powerful as it went through her golden jelly-like hand and blinded her by shining a concentration of light into her eyes. ¡®There are pros and cons to each race. Maybe I could turn this into some sort of sunlight solar beam in the future.¡¯ She thought to herself as she rubbed her eyes and walked forward into the cover of a small shaded tent while looking around. It looked like she had ended up in some sort of city square, except, her surroundings weren¡¯t nearly as elegant as a city should be. Several old, decrepit buildings with chipped paint falling off of them formed a circle, in the middle of which she had spawned. Several slimes and slimes that were obviously players were walking around. Most of them were either under the shade, relaxing or sitting in front of a tent, or selling market goods which lay on the floor for all to see. The square gave off a campy and fun sort of feeling, but there were a lot less players than she thought there would be. They just barely outnumbered the slime Non Playable Characters (NPCs) that were walking around. Ignoring the market stalls that were displaying items she couldn¡¯t possibly afford, Betrayed turned her heads towards the old and ill-maintained buildings that encircled the market. There were seven buildings in total. The first one starting from her left seemed to be this games version of a magic building because it had a wand and staff in a ¡°x¡± sign engraved on the sign outside of its door. It was by far the worst off of all the buildings she could see. It had previously been painted in a bright golden paint, not unlike her own bright gold skin colour but almost half of the paint had been chipped off or was peeling with no maintenance. To her surprise it was actually shaped like a slime wearing a wizard¡¯s hat. The slime itself was painted gold and the hat seemed to be painted a light blue colour. Two windows were placed as the eyes and in between them was the door where the mouth would be. It would have been cute if not for the sorry state of the building. The other buildings were quick to identify since they were all similarly shaped like slimes. A red slime with a shield next to the magic building stood proudly as the warrior building. The dark green slime next to it holding a flask seemed to be an apothecary or alchemist building. Next in place was a pure white slime covered in dirt symbolizing the cleric building. A blue slime holding an arrow was clearly the building for archers. A slightly faded brown slime stood for the music building and finally, a sinister black slime was either the thieves or the assassins building. ¡®It¡¯s a bit weird to have a building for thieves right in the open like that.¡¯ Betrayed pondered as she walked towards the first building, the place where magicians were born. She wasn¡¯t sure if she was looking at a store or guild building so she had decided to just go and ask the nearest person to find out information. Even though she had gone into the game without reading any of the lore, it was only because she was interested in what she could find out while playing the game. But it remained a simple fact that information was key in games. Many of the battles, both against monsters and humans in her previous game Vitris Online, had been won due to information acquisition and careful planning. Even pros had fallen because they lacked information. *Boing* *Boing* Each step that Betrayed took, let out a slight ¡®boing¡¯ sound effect as she walked. She looked down and saw that even though her bare feet were touching the ground, they weren¡¯t sinking into it like slimes did. She was easily able to bounce off the ground. It was quite a soothing sound effect. Looking down she also realised for the first time that she was wearing pants. Apparently, since she had chosen to be a gender neutral character the game had automatically clothed her in generic brown pants and an oversized white shirt. Her muscular frame and golden skin seemed to contrast against the simple clothes as she lifted her hand to open the door. The jingling of bells attached to the door sounded out as Betrayed stepped into the store. In front of her was a small counter marked ¡®Information¡¯ and on either side were two small counters marked ¡®Quests¡¯ and ¡®Guild rankings¡¯ She immediately walked towards the information counter and found herself facing a small pink slime with a small antenna popping out of the top of its head. It looked at her curiously and she shuddered at its cuteness. ¡°Welcome to the Magic Guild. I¡¯m Tilda. How may I help you today?¡± The little pink slime¡¯s voice squeaked out and its body jiggled slightly as it spoke. ¡°Awww, you¡¯re so cute!¡± The pink slimes beady black eyes widened slightly at the sound of Betrayed voice. Although it wasn¡¯t exactly feminine, she had been told that she had a ¡®sing-song¡¯ voice that rose and fell as she spoke. The slime was only surprised because it didn¡¯t seem to fit the muscular figure in front of her. Her previous game had been a computer based game so she had only had to type replies instead of speaking. Luckily she wasn¡¯t planning to go pro in this game. She just wanted to have fun. But she didn¡¯t want to be automatically subjected to all the benefits and cons that gamers in girl bodies got when trying to form parties and kill mobs. Besides, she had earned more than enough money during her time as a pro in the last few years. She realised the pink slime was still waiting for an answer but it¡¯s pink cheeks had reddened in a cute blush at the compliment. ¡°So this is the Magic Guild? Why is it so run down?¡± At her words the pink slime deflated and seemed to shrink slightly. It sighed and a small puff of virtual air left its mouth. ¡°Slime Valley has fallen on very hard times in the last few years. Ever since the newcomers, such as yourself, started appearing in our world, the fluctuation of power has been constantly changing. Unfortunately it has not changed for the better. Slimes are considered to be the weakest of races. Almost no newcomers want to become Magicians or Mages so this guild has been brought into dire straits. We owe more money than we earn at the moment.¡± Betrayed looked thoughtfully at the little pink slime. Since the Slime¡¯s racial trait was to take 20% less physical damage but 20% more magic damage, it didn¡¯t surprise her to see that many people didn¡¯t pick it as a starting race. Magic damage was a large part of PvP and if slime players were attacked by monsters with lots of Area of Effect (AoE) magic in the wild, then it was possible that the entire party could be wiped out. At the same time, Magicians were always the weakest of all classes in terms of defence and health. They were always targeted by arrows and enemy magicians. Consequently, the 20% magic damage taken would always be a major factor in any slime party¡¯s or slime army¡¯s defeat. However, the 20% less physical damage was also a trait which needed to be exploited by those that had picked the Slime race. Most players would go and become warriors or thieves. Classes which wouldn¡¯t normally interact with Magicians on a regular basis and instead face off against classes that also dealt in physical damage. The 20% physical damage reduction would be a godsend to those players and which was why the considerably better looking Warrior¡¯s Guild Building outside had looked in better shape than this shabby Magi guild building. ¡°Excuse me.¡± The slime looked back at Betrayed as she politely spoke, it had always been a habit of Betrayed to act politely to NPC¡¯s as you could never tell when it would earn you extra rewards. ¡°Did you say that people didn¡¯t want to become Magicians or Mages? Is there a difference between those two classes?¡± The slime enthusiastically nodded it¡¯s tiny, pink body in confirmation. ¡°So you¡¯re interested in joining our guild? There are two main classes that use magic on the star continent, the Magician and the Mage. If you want to become a Magician you will learn skills that deal Area of Effect damage and slowly perfect these skills. High ranking Magicians are often sought by the kingdom to join their armies as their representatives. Magicians have a chance to be promoted to a Royal Magician class if they work hard enough! Mages deal more with spells that are used for close combat, although they do know some Area of Effect spells, they mainly concentrate on one on one fighting spells or spells for fighting small groups. They are often recruited by the army directly and if you work hard enough you can become a Mage General!¡± Basically, Magicians dealt in AoE damage and the Mages were effective in 1v1 situations. Betrayed had already decided from the moment she stepped into the guild that she would join it. After all, she had played as a magical class in every game as long as it was available. She had always liked to watch her enemies burn from afar rather than blindly hacking and slashing at them with a sword or similar weapon. Magic was just so much more beautiful and mysterious. She was also more of a lone wolf. The reason she had been invited to a pro team in the first place was due to her accomplishments while playing the game solo. So to her, Mage was the perfect class. ¡°Oh dear.¡± The pink slime quivered slightly and frowned, ¡°Here I was going on and on about our guild and yet I didn¡¯t notice that your strength is not high enough to have a class yet. But fret not deary! I just happened to receive a request earlier today that is just suitable for a beginner like you. Would you like to hear my request?¡± ¡°I would love that Tilda. Thank you very much.¡± There wasn¡¯t a hint of sarcasm in Betrayed¡¯s voice as she spoke. She genuinely liked the NPC in front of her and it was even offering her a free quest. She would probably have to reach level ten before being able to choose her class. ¡°Oh how lovely. Recently an order for a large amount of rabbits¡¯ feet was given to our guild and nobody has had the time to go and collect any. Would you be a dear and bring me fifteen rabbits¡¯ feet?
Slime Magician Tilda has requested that you bring her fifteen rabbits¡¯ feet. Rabbits are low level creatures which can be found in grassy plains or outside any starting city, town or village.
¡°Of course I¡¯ll do it! Thank you!¡± ¡°But of course, I can¡¯t send you on such a dangerous quest without any help. Please take this. Consider it a gift from me on behalf of the guild.¡±
You have received the weapon, Beginners Wand. Stats: +2 Int. Description: A wand given to an ordinary being that wants to learn magic usage but has yet to step into the world of magic. It allows the user to use the beginner spell; Water Strike. Would you like to equip it?
¡°Thanks hun!¡± Betrayed took the wand and immediately equipped it whilst leaving the building. She saw that the water strike spell was simply a small shot of water that dealt as much damage as the players Int stat. It had a short range of five metres and a firing rate of once per two seconds. Each shot used five mana. It would be useless for anyone beyond level five or so but it would be perfect for slaying bunnies. After she had equipped the weapon, she opened her status screen to check her character. Racial trait (Slime): 20% reduced physical damage 20% increased magic damage taken

Betrayed smiled as she viewed her stats. A +2 intelligence increase didn¡¯t seem like much, but she was lucky to have gained a weapon before even reaching her first mob. Most players would instantly go outside before talking to any NPCs but an experienced player like Betrayed knew that it was much more beneficial to ask around first. She walked out of the market square, down a large road that lead outside the village. The only stats which she should be concerned about raising at the moment would be Intelligence and Wisdom. However, it was possible that she would also have to raise her dexterity if she was going to be a Mage. From what she could see, the Intelligence stat raised the amount of magic damage she did when casting spells while the Wisdom stat raised her overall mana. It wasn¡¯t clear which stat affected her spell cooldowns but it was possible that cooldown reduction was only available through items or potions or something similar. Betrayed smiled at the slime guards that were standing tall and carrying swords and shields. Unlike Tilda or Phillip the Slime, these guards were not round balls but instead tall and chubby slimes shaped like an upside down cup. Jelly-like tendrils clung onto the ground allowing them to stand tall. The slimes were wearing a chainmail vest which looked a little worse for wear. Perhaps it was a subtle sign of how Slime Valley had fallen into disrepair. The guards looked stoically back at her but didn¡¯t raise any objections as she walked past them and into the outside fields. Staying true to its name, Slime Valley was a large village that was built in-between two large mountains covered in trees. The vegetation around the village was mainly grass and the occasional bush with wild rabbits hopping around and chewing on the ground, a green health bar floating on top of its head. There were no players in the area so Betrayed didn¡¯t need to worry about any of them stealing her prey. She calmly positioned herself near a rabbit and prepared to fire a water strike at it. ¡°Wait right there Betrayed!¡± A familiar, regal sounding voice called out to Betrayed and she turned around with confusion in her eyes. To her surprise, a familiar looking green slime with a gray moustache was facing her. It was Phillip the Slime. ¡°I¡¯m glad I caught up with you before you started fighting. This old body doesn¡¯t bounce as fast as it used to.¡± Phillip was panting slightly as he bounced in front of Betrayed and straightened his body. He was carrying a sword and a shield but because he didn¡¯t have any arms, they seemed to be attached to the left and right sides of his body. On the contrary, the slime guards at the entrance had tentacle-like arms with which they could hold their equipment. ¡°Hey there Phillip. Long time no see. Might I ask what you are doing here for?¡± Phillip the Slime snorted and gazed at the golden slime in front of him, ¡°You may have passed the tutorial due to my excellent training Betrayed. But you have not learned everything there is to learn about fighting in the real world! Thus I, in my infinite patience, have agreed to come and show you how to further improve your combat skills.¡± Phillip bounced over to the rabbit and turned to face him. ¡°The first thing you have to know is that all wild creatures and monsters can detect you if you¡¯re within a certain radius of it. The rabbits have an excellent sense of smell but because we Slimes were originally part of nature, they cannot differentiate unless we get within a single metre of their bodies. Other, more dangerous creatures, may even attack you when you get close to them! Be wary of ambushes at all times in the wild.¡± Betrayed smiled at the Slimes words and nodded her head. This was knowledge taught to all beginners and she¡¯d been wondering why it hadn¡¯t been included in the tutorial. Clearly the game wanted to be more interactive in the way it showed information to new players. ¡°The second thing is the most important. In terms of saving your life of course.¡± Ensure your favorite authors get the support they deserve. Read this novel on Royal Road. He whacked his sword against the rabbit and its health bar dropped until it was at its lowest possible health. The bar had turned almost completely red. All of a sudden the bunny grew more agitated and its body doubled in size. Its ears pressed against its head and its eyes turned red. It smashed into Phillip¡¯s slime body but bounced off immediately after being struck. ¡°When a creature is dealt enough damage till it is near death, it will enter into an enraged state and drastically increase in status! You must be careful as every creature in the world has a different way of powering up when enraged and some may even find themselves unleashing attacks they never would have thought possible before.¡± Phillip continued to ignore the enraged(pitiful?) rabbits attack and instead turned to face Betrayed. ¡°And finally, each monster in the world has a weak point. If you can find this weak point and deal an accurate strike, the creature would be dealt with increased damage. Once again, every creature¡¯s weak spot is different and it takes a lot of time and effort to find each one. I have heard from Tilda that you¡¯re thinking of studying magic. The arcane arts is indeed a noble profession but do not fret, for you may still be able to hit a monster¡¯s weak spot. You simply have to do it with magic instead of steel. It is also useful as a stress-reliever. Observe as I hit this rabbit in-between the eyes, its weak spot.¡± Phillip brought his sword up and as the rabbit once again moved to slam its body against him he slashed his sword down and hit the rampaging creature directly in-between its eyes. A blue light flashed, signifying that it had been a critical hit and the rabbit died on the spot, vanishing a few seconds later. ¡°Well then young Betrayed, I wish you luck on your future adventures. I may be a warrior but I have fought with and against many magic users. The road you have chosen is not an easy one, but similarly, the road of a warrior isn¡¯t exactly rose-coloured either. Until next time.¡± Betrayed watched as Phillip bounced off, leaving as suddenly as he came. She hadn¡¯t realised that critical hits could also be exploited by magic users as weak spots were usually only hittable by swords or other physical weapons. Testing out her newfound knowledge, Betrayed walked up to another rabbit and raised her wand towards it. She made sure that she was aiming directly for its weak point. ¡°Water strike!¡± As soon as she spoke her wand immediately began to charge with blue light and a small ball of water flew out of its tip, hitting the bunny square in the face. The creature lost almost half of its health bar and looked at her with its large eyes. She walked back slowly as it hopped towards her to attack and calmly waited for the two second cooldown on her spell. She fired another shot at the rabbit but instead of killing it, it was left with a sliver of health. Immediately growing enraged, it increased in size and smashed into her.
You have taken physical damage. - 8hp
Betrayed was sent back a couple of feet but managed to keep her balance. She fired the final shot at the enraged rabbit and it died peacefully albeit in unjustified pain. Scanning the murder scene in front of her, a paw was all that was left of the rabbit. Pocketing the drop, she identified it as a rabbit¡¯s foot. The quest item. Since she had taken 8 damage she guessed that the Slime¡¯s racial trait of 20% physical damage reduction had come into effect. It really was a helpful trait. She was currently regenerating one health per 5 seconds as all level one players did. Her water shot didn¡¯t do enough damage to kill rabbits in two shots yet so regrettably, she would have to keep fighting enraged bunnies until she became level 2. ¡°All right you little grass munchers.¡± Betrayed looked at all the bunnies around her and smiled evilly, ¡°You¡¯ve been a little too cocky lately. I think it¡¯s time I cut you back down to size.¡± The rabbits shivered in the cool air of the valley. **** Dozens of murdered bunnies and nine levels later Betrayed had finally picked up the last of the rabbit¡¯s feet. They had been a surprisingly rare drop and as soon as the final rabbit was slain Betrayed received a system message informing her that she could now go into town and pick a class to play as.
Warning. A rare monster has appeared in the area; Slime Valley Plains 1.
Betrayed¡¯s eyes widened as a beeping sound accompanied by sinister music filled the area. The nearby rabbits had already fled from the nearby vicinity and when Betrayed turned back to look at the town, all she could see was a cloud of darkness, much like the one that had gathered around the baby evil slime in the tutorial. ¡°Thou who hast slain my brethren shall be slain in stead.¡± The darkness slowly faded and in its place was a large black rabbit with bloodthirsty, red eyes. It was at least two metres tall but except for the height and colour palette it looked exactly the same as the bunnies she had just been killing. Floating over its head was a series of words and a health bar. Dark Rabbit: Level 10. Health 150. ¡°Your bunnies were started to get too cocky so I had to lower the population. This area belongs to the slimes you know?¡± Although the rabbits had done no such thing and weren¡¯t smart enough to be arrogant Betrayed enjoyed making up little scenarios when grinding mobs. It made it far more entertaining to kill rabbits if she imagined that she was fighting a group of invaders rather than dozens of individual littles bunnies that happened to be eating grass. To her the rabbits were attempting to take over Slime Valley and she had been sent to stop them. She was weird like that. ¡°A commoner such as thou wouldst darest speak to me as an equal? I shall crush all my enemies!¡± Without another word the black rabbit charged at her with a full body slam. She dodged it and fired a water strike into its body. Unfortunately, she missed the critical strike zone and only did fifteen damage to the creature. The monster turned towards her and jumped into the air. She quickly rolled sideways on the ground as a shadow appeared on top of her. A second later, the rabbit smashed into the grass that she had been standing on, sending dirt and vegetation flying into the air. Over the course of fighting dozens of enraged rabbits, she had figured out that they had a total of thirty health, so she had only put 3 free stat points into Intelligence so that she would do 15 damage with each water strike and kill the rabbits in two shots. She hadn¡¯t bothered to use any of her other stats. Of course she hadn¡¯t expected that a rare creature would spawn. She didn¡¯t even know that rare creatures could randomly spawn mid-air in this game. Judging from its words it had probably spawned because she had killed too many rabbits. She fired another water shot and dealt fifteen more damage. The rabbit looked at her and laughed. ¡°Thou spouts of water tickle me young slime. Thou hadst gone over your head by seeking a fight with my brethren.¡± Instead of charging towards her the bunny shot out a leg which instantly travelled over a meter and smashed into her side. Her jelly-like body absorbed some of the impact but she still went flying into the air.
You have taken physical damage. - 32hp
The rabbit had dealt a whooping 40 damage to her! Luckily her racial trait had protected her from 8 damage. But health didn¡¯t rise with level. It rose when putting stat points into Vitality. With only 100 health points total she could only take three more hits before dying. *Splash* Another water strike hit the monster and it roared. This time she made sure that she was well out of its kicking range and every time it hopped closer, she tried to move quickly away from it. Dark Rabbit: Level 10. Health 105/150 ¡°Thou know''st how to run little slime. Is this coward the best warrior the slimes could muster to fight against my kind?¡± The dark rabbit taunted her everytime she dodged one of its attacks. She didn¡¯t let the comments get to her and simply unleashed more water strikes. It jumped into the air again and she rolled out of the way, firing off another water strike that hit the rabbit as soon as it landed. With only a couple more strikes it would be dead. ¡°I commend thee coward! Your tactics have brought me into dire straits. I shalt no longer hold back against thee.¡± Suddenly the darkness around the rabbit intensified and it kicked towards Betrayed. She dodged the attack and fired a water strike but to her surprise the black rabbit swung its body around and dodge the attack, sending another kick straight into her chest and sending her flying.
You have taken physical damage. - 32hp
Betrayed swore as her health bar lowered even further. She couldn¡¯t regenerate thirty two points in a few seconds so only two more attacks and she would be dead. The bunny jumped into the air again and she quickly evaded. It smashed into the ground but this time, the rabbit raised so much dust that she was blinded. Out of the dust came another swift kick and she was sent flying into the air. Luckily she managed to get a water strike shot off and was satisfied to hear the the bunny¡¯s enraged roar.
You have taken physical damage. - 32hp
Warning. You have fallen below 20% hp.
After regenerating health during the battle, Betrayed only had 11 health points left. Not nearly enough to survive another kick from the dark rabbit. The dust cleared and the rabbit glared at Betrayed. ¡°Now though stands on your last legs. Prepare to die young slime.¡± Dark Rabbit: Level 10. Health 18/150 18 hp! Betrayed¡¯s heart sunk. Before, she had been doing 15 damage with each water strike until the rabbit only had 30 health left. Now that it was enraged its defence had risen and she had only done 12 damage. She would still have to fire two more shots until the creature was dead. The rabbit charged at her with its body in an attempt to body slam her but she swiftly dodged it. She had already gotten used to its timing. As soon as she had dodged, the creature sent out another swift kick towards her but only in vain. Every single attack is now accompanied by another kick, so she had to be a lot more careful. She fired another spell, the only spell that she had, at the monster but it jumped into the air and dodged it. Again, a large shadow appeared on top of her and she quickly rolled out of the way, dodging yet another kick. Betrayed prepared another water strike but a blurred shadow hidden behind the dust suddenly shot towards her and she side stepped instead, luckily dodging yet another kick. This time, she was able to hit it and a pained cry resounded from the creature. The dust finally settled and she stood face to face with the rabbit. It hardly stood still for a second before charging at her once again. Betrayed rolled out of the way and dodged the kick but to her horror, she suddenly couldn¡¯t move anymore.
Your stamina has reached 0. Please rest a while before attempting to move again.
Stamina! Up until this point, Betrayed had ignored the stamina bar completely and it hadn¡¯t even appeared on her status window. According to her previous memory of the stats, she had found that stamina could also increase naturally over time or by training, regardless of class since it was used for movement in the game. ¡°Crap!¡± Hearing her shout, the rabbit glanced at her and realized that she wasn¡¯t moving. Seeing the overall exhausted golden slime, the rabbit smiled evilly while looking at her with glowing red eyes. Immediately taking that chance, the rabbit charged straight for her with every intention to kill. Betrayed cursed at herself internally as she realised that she was probably going to die. Her only hope, only chance to make it out alive, was to kill the rabbit before it killed her. The cooldown wasn¡¯t up and she feared that the rabbit would dodge it in mid air and easily kill her. She had to wait for the opportune moment when the rabbit was so close that it couldn¡¯t dodge the bullet. But the rabbit would hit her in less than 1 second. 0.9... 0.8¡ 0.7 Time seemed to slow as the rabbit slowly drew closer. Her entire body tensed as it prepared to fire a decisive shot into the belly of the beast. 0.4¡ 0.3 Now! The tip of the wand swirled with blue magic which seemed to be gathering so slowly that it seemed like an eternity had passed. The rabbit was directly in front of her. So close that she could feel the heat oozing from its body. It was a few centimetres away from potentially ending her life. Her eyes widened as she realised that she was already too late, the rabbit was just about to slam into her. Facing the fear of death, she closed her eyes on impulse. And nothing happened. Peeking with one eye, Betrayed saw that the rabbit had stopped literally millimetres from her face. Its body fell to the ground, signifying its death. Water from her magic trickled down its face as she smiled at the blue light, indicating that she had gotten a critical hit. The water strike had hit the bunny only milliseconds away from her. Her experience bar had also filled up by 80% and she was only a tiny bit away from reaching level 11. Darkness gathered from within the dark rabbits body and flew into the air. When it had reached a few metres into the air, it automatically dissipated. The rabbit¡¯s corpse also begun to disappear but in its place was a small black crystal and some black fur. She had also gained 1 gold coins and 50 silver coins which was the only currency she had earned all game since the other rabbits hadn¡¯t given her any and she hadn¡¯t been given any money after completing the tutorial.

Betrayed eyes glittered at the stones description. An item which could increase her Intelligence stat by 2 was incredibly good for her level! She immediately equipped it and saw that she was only given five accessory slots. The stone took up one slot. Racial trait (Slime): 20% reduced physical damage 20% increased magic damage taken

She had been given 5 free stat points with each level up and had used up three of them to increase intelligence. She closed the window and sighed. She¡¯d had enough action for one quest. She picked herself off the ground and was glad to see that her stamina had recovered enough for her to walk. ¡°Well then,¡± Betrayed looked towards the entrance of Slime Valley where the slime guards were still standing nobly, ¡°I guess it¡¯s time to collect my well earned reward.¡± General Discussion Thread Hello there readers/viewers and other authors. Chapter 3: Class Change, Slim Change The jingling of bells sounded out as Betrayed entered the Magic Guild. Ignoring the Quests and Guild rankings section, she headed towards the Information counter and calmly placed the quest items in front of Tilda¡¯s bright pink body.
You have completed Slime Magician Tilda¡¯s request
¡°Oh my, what a wonderful job you¡¯ve done! I¡¯ll bring your reward right away. Oh don¡¯t look at me so questioningly, you completed such an important task! How could we not reward you? And it shames me to say it but, I forgot to ask for your name when I saw you before dear.¡± Tilda was happily bustling and bouncing around as she put the rabbit¡¯s feet somewhere out of sight while chattering away. Betrayed laughed and didn¡¯t take her eyes off of the cute little slime. ¡°My name¡¯s Betrayed. It¡¯s completely my fault that I didn¡¯t introduce myself before. I don¡¯t really need the reward since the experience was enough.¡± Tilda opened a drawer with her mouth and brought out a small bag, jiggling with what looked like coins. Upon hearing Betrayed¡¯s words, she shook her body violently in disapproval and tears appeared in her eyes. ¡°Oh please do take this reward. It¡¯s not much but it is more than worth your trouble. It would shame myself and the Magic Guild if you were to do work for us and not be given any compensation. Besides,¡± Her beady eyes twinkled and she leaned towards Betrayed, ¡°it¡¯s only right that we pay our guild members properly. You have been thinking about joining our little guild haven¡¯t you?¡± Betrayed smiled at the little slime¡¯s words and nodded her head. ¡°I¡¯m strong enough to change classes now. I¡¯ve been thinking about it and being a Mage while learning close combat magic is a lot more helpful to me than learning large area of effect spells.¡± ¡°Wonderful dear! Just let me get the contract and I¡¯ll change your class. Are you aware of how classes and subclasses work? After all, this is your first class change but it doesn¡¯t necessarily mean it will be your last.¡± Betrayed¡¯s thought long and hard about Tilda¡¯s offer. She could change her class again? That was pretty rare in video games and she had only encountered it once or twice in other RPG¡¯s. She sighed lightly. Every little bit of new information helps. ¡°I¡¯d love it if you could explain it to me.¡± With a pleased expression, Tilda sat upright and began to speak. ¡°Well first things first, there is always going to be your main class which you can¡¯t change. From now on that¡¯ll be the Mage class. However, there are several subclasses; Fire Mage, Ice Mage, Water Mage, Poison Mage, Dark Mage, Green Mage, Lightning Mage, Earth Mage and Wind Mage. For a large price, you can change subclasses until you have reached level 100. Should you go beyond that limit then unfortunately you will have become too powerful for us to simply change the magical properties inherent in your body and will be stuck with the subclass you have at the time. This is why I must warn you now to choose your subclass carefully and never hesitate to try other subclasses before it¡¯s too late. You never know if you are more compatible with a subclass other than your current one.¡± Tilda tilted her head in consideration, ¡°However, there are other ways to change your class. The Star Continent and the entire world itself is ancient. Many powerful creatures have been born since the beginning of time and should a creature be powerful enough, it can grant you a new subclass, or even a new class. Whether your luck is good enough, you¡¯ll have to see for yourself.¡± ¡®Interesting¡¯ Betrayed thought to herself, ¡®She¡¯s talking about the unique classes.¡¯ One of the things that had attracted Betrayed to this game was the fact that it had classes that couldn¡¯t be achieved by normal means. Of course, they are extremely rare. Sometimes they did not actually have as many benefits as normal classes. But their titles and unique styles of gameplay were what many considered to be the true reward of having a unique class. ¡°I see,¡± Betrayed lifted her hand to the piece of paper in front of her and put a single finger on it. A faint radiance covered the page and the contract was finished, ¡°Does this mean I just have to choose my subclass and i¡¯ll be a full member of the Slime Valley Magic Guild?¡± ¡°Well I would love to be able to do that dear, but unfortunately no one that is currently in the guild has the authorisation to make you a member of the Magic Guild. You will have to take on a journey to the outskirts of Slime Valley where you will meet with a founding member of the Magic Guild who will decide whether or not to make you a member. But with your wonderful personality and skills, I¡¯m sure that it won¡¯t be a problem.¡± Tilda bounced off away from the counter and towards a door which led further into the guild. ¡°We can have your subclass organised right now dear. Only when you have chosen your Mage subclass will you be considered to be a proper Mage.¡± Betrayed hurriedly followed the small pink slime and walked through the door. Finding herself inside a long hallway, a lush red carpet was laid onto the floor and brass lamps with fires lit inside them lit the path ahead. On either side of Betrayed were long stairways which lead to the top of the building. The rich, clean decorum was the exact opposite of the outside of the building. Tilda had bounced up one of the stairways and was looking down impatiently at Betrayed. She followed the slime up the stairs and after two flight of steps she found herself inside a small white marble room with a single glass box in the middle of it. The box was completely see through, around three meters high and looked wide enough to fit two large cabinets. ¡°This is the magic alignment room.¡± Tilda nodded her head to the glass and Betrayed stopped next to it, passing right through the material and ending up inside of the box, ¡°As you know, all slimes are magical in nature. Our magic power is what keeps us alive. Our magical nature is very sensitive which is the reason we¡¯re so susceptible to magical damage. But by using this device we can change the inner magic of a slime to lean towards a certain element. For example, should you wish to become a Lightning Mage the alignment device will change your magical nature to that of lightning and you will not only be highly resistant to lightning but also learn all lightning magic much faster!¡± Tilda beamed at Betrayed while she was taking on a smiling face, giving the slime a thumbs up to show that she understood. ¡°Now all that¡¯s left is to tell me what subclass you wish to be changed into dear. I¡¯ll remind you that there are nine subclasses; Fire Mage, Ice Mage, Water Mage, Poison Mage, Dark Mage, Green Mage, Lightning Mage, Earth Mage and Wind Mage. The Fire and Lightning Mages hold destructive magical properties that lean towards damage based magic. The Ice, Water and Earth Mages are the trio of magics that lean towards the defensive side of things. Green Mages are concerned with interacting with and summoning spirits in order to aid the caster in battle, therefore they are considered a controlling type of magic even though they are unique in their own right. Wind Mages control the properties of air, one of the most important elements in this world and can use it to attack, speed themselves up or buff allies. Finally, Poison and Dark Mages use ancient arts which some may consider vile and detestable to win battles, such as poisoning or weakening the enemy. Now then dear, i¡¯ll give you a few minutes to choose the subclass you wish to pick.¡± ¡®Classes of destruction, defense, evil and other.¡¯ Betrayed¡¯s mind whirled through the possibilities. She had actually been a sword wielding Blood mage in her previous game Vitris Online and since it had been a class of pure destruction and evil she had quickly risen in the pro scene. But doing the same thing twice in a row had never been something Betrayed was fond of. She liked being unique and original after all. ¡°I¡¯d like to be a Water Mage please. It¡¯s definitely the class for me. No doubt about it. I¡¯d die without water after all.¡± Tilda looked quite happy, ¡°What a marvelous class to choose. I myself, am an Ice Magician. We¡¯ll be seeing each other now and then once you join our guild.¡± The glass box began to shine with light and Betrayed closed her eyes as a wave of nausea rolled over her body. After a few seconds the light died down and she hesitantly opened her eyes, finding herself face to face with Tilda. ¡°Congratulations dear, you¡¯re officially a Mage!¡±
You have changed your class to Mage
You have changed your subclass to Water Mage
You have gained the skill Water Bolt
You have gained the skill Water Manipulation
You have gained the skill Water Shield
You have gained the skill Water Prison
You have gained the skill Healing Water

All stats have permanently increased by 10 with the exception of Intelligence and Wisdom. Intelligence and Wisdom have increased by 15.
Betrayed¡¯s eyes widened as skill after skill after skill was gifted to her. Her stats rose to double what they had previously been. She quickly poured her free stat points into Wisdom and Intelligence, giving each of them 21 points each. She could feel her tongue licking her lips as she thought of all the benefits she had gained. ¡°Oh I do love seeing a smiling face after so long. New guild members are so scarce these days. No, we shouldn¡¯t get too ahead of ourselves! You¡¯re not a member of this guild just yet dear. First you have to go to the left mountain peak and visit one of the Magic Guild¡¯s founding members, Lightning Magician Bratelli!¡±
A Slime¡¯s Magical Journey [Mage Lore Quest] Description: You have been informed by Slime Magician Tilda that you will need to visit the Lightning Magician Bratelli to gain membership into the Slime Valley Magic Guild. This founding member of the Magic Guild has not been seen in over fifteen years but it is known that he regularly communicates from his cottage in the Rocky Mountain Peak at the south side of Slime Valley. Task: Locate and talk to Lightning Magician Bratelli. Quest difficulty: E Quest is not optional. Unable to refuse quest
Betrayed carefully read over its details. It was a rank ¡®E¡¯ quest in terms of difficulty. The quests in The Last God were all ranked F, E, D, C, B and A from easiest to most difficult. She felt it was only right that as a level ten with a class that she was being given a quest ranked as the second easiest. Even C ranked quests were usually the types that required several people with high levels working together to complete. ¡°I¡¯m sorry Betrayed, but I can¡¯t give you any weapons until you¡¯re a guild member. But I¡¯ll give a letter to the magic weapon seller down at the market so that he¡¯ll give you a discount. Look for Acham and tell him that Tilda sent you.¡± Betrayed almost let out a gasp as Tilda¡¯s black eyes appeared to be watering in sadness. ¡°No, no! It¡¯s fine Tilda. You¡¯ve already done so much for me. Thanks for everything Tilda. I mean it.¡± ¡°Never mind me, getting all teary at my age. But that reminds me! You aren¡¯t the only person going to meet Bratelli. One other person stopped by just a few moments ago, if you¡¯re lucky they¡¯ll still be in the lobby and you can form a party for safer travels! Rocky Mountain Peak is a dangerous area after all dear. Do you know how to form a party?¡± Betrayed didn¡¯t have the slightest clue how to form a party but she¡¯d had enough experience in gaming that she was sure it would work it out by itself. She nodded to Tilda and they began head back. While they passed through the lavish red carpet, Betrayed brought up her Status Screen. [table]

Every point of damage dealt to the user¡¯s health will instead decrease their mana. Mana cost: 10 mana per second. Cooldown: 60 seconds after deactivation. Water Prison [Rank 1]: The spirits of water have long used their element to bind, stop and imprison enemies and innocent travellers alike. Effect: Enemies will be bound where they stand for 3 seconds by tendrils of water. Mana cost: 20 mana. Cooldown: 13 seconds. Healing Water [Rank 1]: Water is the origin of all life. When life was first born, water made an oath to always protect and heal that which had been born within its depths. Water Manipulation [Rank 1]: Description: Increased magical affinity with the element of water has given your body the rare ability to freely control the flow of water within a five metre radius. However, ancient and natural laws have dictated that this ability not be used for harm lest the world itself be affected by its power. *Smash* Betrayed sighed when she saw that she only had a single attack oriented skill. She had expected something similar to occur when Tilda had said Water Mages were a defensive class but it was still surprising to see that she had gained four defensive abilities. Five if she was to include Water Manipulation as a defensive ability. But that seemed like an ability which would be more useful out of combat. She would have to see how she could apply it in different ways later. *CRASH* ¡°Hey!¡± The 20% increase in defence against water based magical attacks was an insane ability. Not only was it passive, meaning it never turned off, but it didn¡¯t come with any negative side effects such as taking extra magical damage from lightning or earth attacks. ¡°Hey run! HEY¡± A loud yell resounded through the area towards Betrayed and she looked up in surprise. A young man was running at full speed towards her with a large monster following close behind. His eyebrows were furrowed in concentration as he jumped over the Magic Guild counters and smashed his arm into Betrayed. She shook from the impact and found herself being lifted into the air with a single hand, putting her face to face with the monster tailing them. ¡°Holy crap, what is that thing?¡± The monster¡¯s face filled her vision. Bright blue eyes were surrounded by green moss and ancient stones. It looked like some sort of golem. ¡°Would you kindly be quiet while I concentrate, because I AM RUNNING FOR MY LIFE.¡± Betrayed felt her body being jerked up and down as the man carrying her jumped over objects and the hallway flashed on the edges of her vision, the monster was gaining speed and seemed to be drawing ever closer to them. Tired and a bit frightened by the monster¡¯s eyes Betrayed looked down and got a good look at her kidnapper. The unknown man was clearly a player. He was a bright red slime that was at least 6 foot tall and lanky. His thin arm flailing as he ran and skinny legs said that he was clearly the type to spend his hours playing games indoors. He was wearing a green robe that barely reached his knees and a green hood that flapped annoyingly at her face as he ran. ¡°My name¡¯s Betrayed. Water Mage.¡± Looking at the back of the running man¡¯s head Betrayed could swear she saw him smile as she spoke. Blurting out her name seemed to be the only thing to do in the situation. ¡°The name¡¯s Slim. Green Mage. Has anyone ever told you that you sound like a chick?¡± Betrayed rolled her eyes and then realised that she had changed her appearance to look like that of a man¡¯s. ¡°Shut up and run up those stairs.¡± She pointed with her only free foot towards the stairs. Turning her head back around to look at the monster, the man leaped into the air and her stomach churned. To her surprise, the monster immediately ran after them instead of simply charging in a straight line like she had expected it to. It was indeed a human shaped golem. The stairs creaked in protest as a thousand kilos of large rock thoroughly covered in moss smashed down onto them in pursuit of its prey. ¡°Its following you?!¡± Betrayed would have smacked herself in the head. Or smacked him in the head. Betrayed could hear the smashing of wooden stairs as the golem began to chase them deeper into the building. They had already reached the second floor but Betrayed¡¯s face sunk as she realised that the second floor was empty and there was nothing for them to hide behind. *Wheeze* ¡°Sorry¡± *Wheeze* At least he apologized. The man walked a few more steps before dropping Betrayed onto the floor. She groaned as she fell on the hard wooden tiles but instantly shut her mouth. The golem had reached the second floor entrance and had already located them. ¡°Water Bolt!¡± Half a meter of spiraling water flew out of Betrayed¡¯s wand and straight into the golem''s stomach while smiling in relief as a blue light of a critical hit shone. Very quickly, her expression did a 180 turn as she discovered that she had dealt no damage. It only served to anger the thing. Looking at her with overwhelming killing intent, she rose her hands defensively. ¡°Water Prison!¡± Aquatic tendrils shot out of the wooden boards and intertwined themselves around the golem''s limbs, firmly locking it into place. ¡°I didn¡¯t even dent the damn thing.¡± Betrayed felt wronged, ¡°Can critical hits even deal zero damage?¡± The wheezing man turned to face her, ¡°Oh right, It may be too high level for us to attack. Did I forget to mention that?¡± ¡°No, you clearly told me with your god damn actions!¡± She turned to the golem just as the tendrils were weakening. With barely a second left until the spell expired, the monster broke free, ¡°Why did you even grab me in the first place?!¡± *Grr* A low growl left the golem¡¯s rocky mouth and the Water prison turned into harmless water. It immediately lifted its arms and pointed them towards the duo. Large beams of green energy gathered at the tips of its finger and ominously screeched in increasingly loud tones. ¡°If you would please point those things away from them.¡± The golem emitted blue light and shuddered. A large ice spear had appeared in the middle of its stomach, ¡°And I won''t hold you at fault for destroying our Magic Guild.¡± Before Betrayed had time to blink, three more spears stabbed through the humanoids chest, their deadly edges facing towards her and Slim. The golem fell onto the ground with a harmless cry. Lifting itself up, it promptly fell flat on its face as more ice spears pierced its already tattered body. It realized that it was about to become a corpse and thrashed its body around in an attempt to escape. ¡°This isn¡¯t the place for an advanced rock golem to be. What are you doing here?¡± An unfamiliar and awfully cold voice greeted the two¡¯s stunned faces. Betrayed had no idea what an advanced rock golem was but her shock at the situation was quickly washed away as she saw that the source of the ice magic was a familiar pink slime. ¡°Tilda!¡± *ROAR* The golem stood up and screamed, causing the walls and floor to tremble and blowing Betrayed and Slim backwards. ¡°Oh dear.¡± Another ice spear materialised in thin air and stabbed through the golem''s side, forcing it to turn around. Without hesitation, the pink slime summoned a dozens more spears and slowly tortured the thing. It would have been quite pitiful, if only it stopped screeching. Slim appeared beside Betrayed and watched the scene in amazement. ¡°Holy crap, it¡¯s like watching a cute grim reaper slowly poking someone to death.¡± Betrayed glowered at him. ¡°I¡¯m sorry. I¡¯m finding it difficult to talk to a guild breaker.¡± Slim raised an eyebrow at her and his translucent red skin wobbled as he laughed, ¡°I think I managed to do some good today. The exercise was¡ breathtaking.¡± She rolled her eyes at his lame attempt at humor and the rock golem¡¯s cries rang out as it was stabbed with more spears. It had begun to look like a porcupine but Betrayed noticed that Tilda hadn¡¯t hit a critical hit yet. Was that on purpose? ¡°Hang on a second,¡± Betrayed looked towards Slim, ¡°How did that thing even get in here? And why was it chasing you?¡± Slim fidgeted uncomfortably and drew the green cloak closer to himself, ¡°It really wasn¡¯t my fault. I¡¯m a Green Mage, we summon nature, but nature isn¡¯t so kind as to be controlled by a greenhorn.¡± Betrayed lifted an eyebrow at him but didn¡¯t interrupt, ¡°I was downstairs waiting for that slime to come back down and give me a quest when suddenly it hit me.¡± ¡°Let me guess.. a bright idea?¡± Betrayed retorted. ¡°No a lightbulb. But you¡¯re right. I did indeed have the so-called bright idea of trying to summon my first spirit creature.¡± Betrayed whistled, ¡°So you summoned that thing on your first go? Wait, what, why is it trying to kill you then?¡± Slim shrugged and shook his head. ¡°When you¡¯re trying to summon something new for the first time there¡¯s always the chance that it could go wrong and instead of a small spirit you get a bigger, more powerful spirit. But since I didn¡¯t have enough magical power for it to consider me it¡¯s equal it decided to rampage instead.¡± ¡°My thanks for dragging me into that.¡± Betrayed let loose with words dyed in sarcasm. He seemed not to mind. ¡°No problem.¡± Slim smiled and put his thumbs up into the air With a final pathetic cry, the golem ceased squirming and lay limp on the floor. Its body began to vanish and Tilda smiled, bouncing towards Betrayed and Slim.
You have aided in the slaying of a Summoned Ancient Moss Golem. Due to your contribution of 0% damage you gain 0 experience points.
Slim looked at the ground curiously and a look of disappointment crossed his face, ¡°It''s a pity that no items drop when you kill a summoned monster.¡± ¡°In the first place, it was your summoned monster Mr Slim.¡± Tilda¡¯s voice dripped with anger and the temperature of the room lowered to a chill. ¡°I do hope that you don¡¯t hold back Betrayed in your journey. She¡¯s such a lovely person. I wouldn¡¯t want her to be killed due to an accident you caused.¡± It took a second for the words to sink in. Betrayed¡¯s eyes widened and she looked at the idiotic red slime standing next to her as he guiltily fidgeting around. He raised his head in a defiant gesture and looked directly into her eyes. ¡°Pleased to make your acquaintance.¡± He swung his hands around his waist and swept his upper body towards the floor in an exaggerated bow. His red nose barely scraping against the wooden floor. His actions caused loosely restrained laughter to tug at the tip of his tongue. It was hard to say whether he was begging for forgiveness, making light of the situation or was simply born that way. ¡°Slim the Slime at your service.¡± Betrayed groaned internally at the man''s words. This was going to be a long quest.
