Feeling a strange warm feeling, he abruptly opened his eyes, he was amazed at what he was saw he was surrounded by shining light, instead of feeling anxiety from been in such situation he felt joy. Entering the forest it was a dense forest almost no light went through and reached to the floor. The atmosphere in the forest gave a eery feeling aside from the leaves rustling there was no sound. Raven knew this place was dangerous so he was at full alert. "Yaira stay close to me!" "O-okay" she uttered that when it they saw it was a huge black bear with it razor sharp claws and red eyes glaring at them. Chapter 3 - Battle of attrition The bear was huge, at least 3 meter tall, had caught sight of them and was preparing its attack, Raven held up his short sword and prepared for the large bear¡¯s attack.There was drool dripping from the bear open mouth, it razor sharp teeth with it red eyes the it''s the fearful aura it gave out caused Raven and Yaira to unintentionally back away. It looked like a he was starving and couldn¡¯t wait to have another meal. This will be harder than, I never seen such a huge monster of a bear Despite the the size of the beast it front of him raven didn¡¯t intend to back away he knew he needed to get stronger. "Yaira just follow my instructions we can kill it." Yaira only nodded she seemed to be shaken by the beast size. Without even thinking the beast charged at Raven and Yaira, aiming it sharps claws at raven. Raven rolled to the side while barely dodging the trees the where once behind him where in a instant ripped apart. What scary strength, he is stronger than I expected, this will be troublesome. "Raven this is scary we should escape." Yaira muttered while trembling. "You can escape, but I wont leave without this guy head." Raven said with determination as he ran as he could while keeping his head low he aimed his sword at the large bear right foot tendon to limit its movement but before he could the bear with its left paw aimed at Raven. Raven seeing this halted his sudden attack and instead jumped back and slashed with all his might at the bear paw that had missed him by just the skin of his teeth.the paw was almost cut off, the bear backed for a moment growled in pain he seemed anger seemed to have increased further. With its paw bleeding like that he should slow down a bit In a flash the bear started rampaging towards Raven with eyes full of anger, Raven was caught by surprise by the speed the bear still possessed, without time to dodge he twisted his body and tried to use the sword to soak up some of the impact but it wasn''t enough, the impact was too strong and raven was thrown a full 10 metres until he hit a tree at full force and vomited blood. Fuck it still had that much speed and this crazy strength Raven was in intense pain , he had probably broken a few ribs as the result of the impact. Raven looking at Yaira she was immobile, she was in a state of vulnerability and fear. The huge bear ignored Yaira and was slowly coming towards Raven with its huge teeth showing as he though raven was probably done for the bear was preparing to feast on raven body. As the bear approached raven, it could see raven eyes were still alive and it to finish raven off it raised it huge left paw and prepared to slash raven with all his strength, with the bear preparing to slash Raven, Raven was supposedly doomed. in the next second the bear left paw was cut off and fell next to Raven. The beast blood spattered everywhere as it backed away in horrendous pain. Raven had fallen sideways and used all his strength to slash the the bear paw off. Raven was still staggered as a result of the damage but he used the chance the bear gave to regain his senses. Now that the bear couldn''t use its huge paws with incredibly sharp claws, the left one was cut off and the right one was severely cut, still the huge bear intimidating presence was frightening. Yaira seeing Raven hurt had gained some determination as she grasped the dagger and ran past the bear that was still agonizing towards Raven. "O-kay" Yaira said with reluctance. The bear noticing the now standing Raven, snarled and charged at him it was still bleeding but it¡¯s anger far surpassed it¡¯s pain. Raven shouted the bear charging and tried to bite raven but its movement with its head were far slower than it was with it¡¯s paws, with that raven dodged and without wasting a single moment he prepared his counter attack. Thats it keep exhausting yourself Raven had dodged and created some distance between himself and the monstrous bear, he was still injured but he couldn¡¯t show weakness or he would die. "Come on come at me!" Raven shouted and the angry beast charged towards him again, this time the beast was even slower it was probably due to huge amount of blood loss,with its attack being more predictable and slower raven could dodge them with ease while swinging his short sword to slowly damage the large bear. After keeping up this strategy for the past 10 minutes the bear was exhausted its movement where heavy and its was full of deep cuts on its body, blood spattered everywhere, one last time the large bear charged at raven with it mouth open and its deadly sharp teeth showing but its was extremely predictable and raven just skipped to the side it and aimed his blade at the bear right eye piercing it eye, at the moment the large bear crouched. "Yaira now!" With that Yaira who was watching while following Raven fighting the bear came and took the chance to strike both of the legs tendons of the large bear, the bear collapse it had no more energy and couldn¡¯t stand anymore, the blood gushing out quickly formed a huge pool of blood, Yaira looked relieved, It was already night with only the beautiful full moon proving light, It would be hard to leave this dense forest at night. Raven held his sword and swang it towards the bears neck but, its with its thick neck muscles it wouldn¡¯t be easy Raven struggled and eventually with Yaira help they managed to cut the bear head off. Chapter 4 - Camaraderie Raven and Yaira had been missing for quite a few hours. Maria was worried sick, Stan trying to calm her down was arranging a group of men in the village to go and look for them in the forest. The group composed of most of men in the village, only those incapable or old where left out, the villagers treated each other like family and they would always assemble if any harm was done to their fellow villagers. They had gathered at the village entrance and would head into the forest with only a few weapons and poor armor that all they had, the village was peaceful so most people never kept weapons. We are all going into the forest to look for my daughter Yaira and son Raven, it may be dangerous but we have no choice we can¡¯t let anyone of our village get lost or killed in the forest. Stan stood in front of the pack and shouted with energy and with that they went into the dense dark forest at night, the full moon was gleaming beautifully and the people marching into danger stopped and couldn¡¯t let themselves not appreciate the beautiful scene. ¡°Truly a great sight to behold¡± said a young man armed with an old kitchen knife. It was Yaira carrying raven in her back, she looked exhausted. ¡°Its them, they are okay¡±A man while relaxing and sitting down and sighed. ¡°Are you guys okay¡± Stan asked Yaira impatiently. ¡°I am fine but Raven hurt, we killed an enormous bear back there.¡± Yaira said with slow and weak voice ¡°W-what!, you killed a bear¡±A young man shouted out loud in surprise. ¡°Let¡¯s not care about that for now, you 4 take them home¡±stan yelled, as he pointed out at the 4 men that were the least armed in the group. ¡°The rest follow me, we will see where they killed the bear and take it back to the village¡±Stan issued his orders and them they continued to delve deep into the forest. Everyone left from the group was carrying the large bear dead body to the village, even with the 10 men putting their backs into it they still struggled greatly to carry it to the village. after dropping it at the village center the men finally relaxed, it was almost dawn most people were tired and wanted to rest after such heavy work, everyone was returning home but, stan stayed and carefully examined the dead bear. Yaira cheeks immediately became a colour of cherry pink, as Raven quickly laughed due to her being embarrassed. ¡°Huuh¡±Raven enveloped in his laughter suddenly felt another sting of the agonizing pain. Yaira that was embarrassed a moment ago, immediately showed a worried face. ¡°Are you okay, is it not hurting, you can rest more if you like¡±Yaira said as she came towards me and pleaded me to rest. ¡°Don¡¯t worry, this is nothing¡± Raven replied with calm tone, Raven was enduring the horrible pain to not worry Yaira and the others. ¡°I ate the chicken soup that was left here, it was delicious¡± ¡°Thank you I made it myself¡±Yaira said while puffing her chest displaying pride in her work. ¡°However, don¡¯t get carried away mom¡¯s is still better.¡± Yaira who was happy until she heard these words, she quickly sulked. ¡°That is it i am leaving now then, you better rest!¡±Yaira said while she walked to the door ¡°Yes, I will¡± Raven said in a languid manner. ¡±yaaawn¡± I never thought i would have people worrying about me, but it doesn¡¯t feel so bad, for me and for them I need to get stronger. Chapter 5 - Ready Raven was taking a stroll outside, it was just after dawn the sun was slowly rising, it was quite chilly outside the air was humid and the breeze was cold, One month had passed since the battle with the king bear, In this past month Raven could only restrict himself to a very light training schedule, his ribs no longer hurt but it still needed some time to fully heal, he mostly went for runs across the village and exploration in the forest which now was much safer due to the bear king being slayed, the bear king was feared by all other animals that resided in the forest and when it was killed, they gradually returned, the village gained with the return of the smaller animals, hunting now was viable again for attaining meat and fur and many other things that were used to better the economic condition of the village. Coming back from his morning jog, it was still quite early the people were still preparing to go out to plow the fields while others were going fishing or hunting. Raven went home, where breakfast was prepared, there was bread and juice made from the apple like fruit that could be found in the forest, Stan had already left, Stan was like the leader of the workers and always left before dawn to prepare the tools and arrange the workers, Maria was already working on her tailoring now that fur was available for her to use she was creating coats for the harsh winter that would be soon coming. Chapter 6 - Departure ¡°Leaving, you are leaving!!why?¡±Yaira yelled in surprise, to the point of tripping and falling down. ¡°Of course, I like it here this small peaceful village is my home but i can¡¯t stay here i want to get stronger and see this mysterious world we live in.¡±Raven calmly replied, one could see the resolution on his beautiful black eyes. ¡°But why so soon!¡± Yaira quickly stood and facing Raven questioned him,only the thought of Raven leaving pained her greatly,they had been together ever since birth, they were closer than siblings. ¡°I can¡¯t wait anymore, I will only wait until I am fully healed and now that I have this herb, i can speed up my recovery to just a week from now.¡±Raven replied with a firm expression, seeing this new she couldn¡¯t change his mind, Raven was adamant he wouldn¡¯t change his mind once he was set on doing something. The rest of the way home from the forest was quiet,the atmosphere was tense between the two after raven declaring he would leave the village, Yaira was helpless and relentless on what to do and if she could somehow convince him to change his mind. Raven knew she would probably be devastated and plead him to stay, but he was determined and nothing would deter him from carrying out his decision. Arriving at home just before dusk, it was gradually getting colder and wearing loose clothes wasn¡¯t an option anymore, getting home both Raven and Yaira quickly picking up the logs , the logs were taken in the spring and stocked away in the basement, they set up them up in the fireplace and set fire by rubbing two rocks together to create sparks, as they sat near the small flame that was gradually starting to burn bright and emit great heat to the freezing house. ¡°Raven are you really leaving us? are you not joking?¡±Yaira said while looking at the at the fire her voice seemed depressed. ¡­.. Raven feeling a anxious took a seat in the table next to the fireplace. Stan sat down and with he was serious even more than usual, Stan was a very mysterious person, Raven couldn¡¯t read him at all. ¡°Raven,you are young, you probably know we aren¡¯t your real parents, when we found you this was the only thing you had on you¡± Stan took out an amulet with strange carvings in it, ¡°What is this?¡±Raven uttered in surprise as he took the strange amulet. Winter passed by Spring came, finally the thick snow had melted, the sun was once again shining brightly giving out the a feeling of warmth that was once gone, the birds that were immigrated for the winter happily returned, the animals slowly woke up from their hibernation, the flowers were blooming beautifully. Raven and Yaira were getting a ride with the merchant that came around once a year, they were standing at the village entrance waiting for merchant to finish up packing his newly bought merchandise in his trading cart, Stan and Maria also had come to say their goodbyes. ¡°Are you guys really leaving?¡± Maria said while sobbing ¡°Calm down Maria, before you leave Raven let me give you something ¡±Stain said with his usual seriousness as he took out a sword he was carrying and handed it to Raven. ¡°What is this¡± ¡°Take this Long sword, it was from the time i was a warrior,it is much better than that old short sword you were using ¡±. Raven took the long short and was stunned at how was incredibly light it was compared to its size. ¡°Thank you father, I will surely treasure it , I will protect Yaira¡± Raven proclaimed and bowed Yaira who was trying hard not to cry slightly blushed. ¡°Come on I am leaving¡±the old merchant announced. ¡°Raven, this merchant next stop is the town of Erude, once you¡¯re there find a man called Kurt, say you¡¯re my son, he will surely help you¡±Stan said to and faintly smiled, as raven and yaira sat in the old trading cart, the old merchant whipped the horses and they quickly set off, Yaira was bursting into tears, looking back at Stan smiling face and Maira sobbing they waved goodbye. Chapter 7 - Travelling Raven and Yaria, sitting in old trading cart it was quite uncomfortable, it had only already been a few hours since they left the village and there wasn¡¯t any sign of life, there was only the trail and all around there was only fields of filled with greenery as far as the eye could see, at first at seeing this sight they were amazed but after a few hours it no longer were caught their attention. ¡°How long will it take for us to reach a town¡± Raven was impatient and coupled with the how uncomfortable and bumpy the ride was,he didn¡¯t know how much of this he could take. ¡°It will take at least 3 days till will reach the town of Erude¡±the elderly merchant replied his wrinkled face and long beard made it almost impossible to tell his impression. When he heard that, Raven sighed he knew there was nothing that could be done so he sat back and tried to relaxed, when he took a glance at Yaira, she was sleeping soundly her beautiful brown hair slightly touching her soft cheeks, looking at yaira sleeping raven stretched his arm and poked Yaira¡¯s cheek , seeing there was no reaction raven gave up on trying to tease her. Jesus, how can she sleep so much? Raven was bored, he wasn¡¯t used to staying put, without anything to do in particular, he decided to inspect the amulet that he had received from stan, the amulet was a dark blueish kinda colour and it had some strange carvings in it that Raven couldn¡¯t understand, Raven had learned how to read and write in this world¡¯s language, but he couldn¡¯t decipher what was carved in the amulet. Deeply in thought, Raven didn¡¯t notice the cart had suddenly stopped, breaking free from his trance raven quickly noticed the cart had come to a halt, they were still no sign of any town or any sort of civilization in that matter ¡°Why did we stop¡± Raven asked the old merchant who was stroking the head one of his two horses. ¡°The horses are tired and hungry, we will stop for about an hour for them to rest¡± the old wrinkled man replied without even looking at raven. ¡°Alright¡±Raven was relieved, he finally could go rest his mind for a bit, Raven decided to walk around the fields for a change of pace. ¡°Oi Yaira wake up I am going to explore,do you wanna go¡±Raven fiercely shook Yaira then she finally opened her eyes. ¡°Hi, Raven where are we, have we arrived?¡±Yaira said while still rubbing her eyes then she slowly sat up and stretched. ¡°No we just stopped to rest, we still have a long way go it seems¡±Raven stated as he looked around. ¡°Are you coming with me,or not?¡±raven looking at yaira said , she was still half asleep her hair was a mess all over her face, she seemed confused. ¡°Go where?¡± Raven a bit frustrated at her words a vein popped on his forehead ¡°I am going to look around, are you coming with me or not?¡± ¡°Yes, I will,¡±Yaira said while standing up groggily,and picking up her small fur bag . Raven had already walked far up ahead then he looked back, and waited for Yaira to catch up to him. Yaira was still a bit sluggish and wasn¡¯t all that keen but looking at Raven determined, he had quickly gotten into fighting stance, reluctantly Yaira also got into fighting stance. Immediately, Raven rushed towards aiming a kick at her right leg, Yaira jumped back but raven persisted following her, Yaira gave up on dodging and would instead try to counter by attacking his supporting leg, Raven realizing her intention backed away. ¡°You have gotten better Yaira¡± ¡°Well, I had to¡± Yaira replied, she was bit short breathed, she could see how excited raven was he had huge grin with eyes full of eagerness. This time Yaira was the one going into the attack, Raven not stepping back also went forward, Yaira threw a punch with great speed towards raven , raven dodged the punch just barely and prepared to kick her in the stomach, Yaira to avoid being hit dropped down and rolled while using her arms to propel herself she jumped and with all her strength kicked Raven, Raven had blocked her kick by using arms, but before she could fall back Raven took her leg pushed her towards himself and headbutted her,Yaira immediately fell to ground holding her head in excruciating pain, Raven was still standing,rubbing his forehead, he also seemed to be in pain. he walked towards the Yaria who was rolling in the floor desperately holding her head. ¡°Oi are you okay¡±Raven offering her a hand Yaria looked up and took it and stood up, she had a slight tear on her eye. ¡°Raven, your head is too hard¡± Yaira uttered while patting off the dust of her clothes ¡°Idiot, your head is the one that hard¡± ¡°Come on let¡¯s go, before the merchant leaves without us¡±Raven faintly said before running towards the cart direction,looked at him for a moment and smiled, before running after him. ¡°Hey wait for me¡± Yaira shouted When they finally reached the old cart, the wrinkled old man was sitting down on ground next to the horses, he glanced at them and then turned his gaze to the horses once again and stroking his long beard faintly said. ¡°We will be departing soon¡±. ¡°Raven will still have a bit of time, should we eat lunch?¡±Yaira bringing out of her bag 2 packed sandwiches ¡°Yeah , I guess¡± Raven said as he took a sandwich As they slowly ate the sandwiches, Maria had prepared beforehand, they both wondered when they would see them again. ______ Thanks any mistakes please tell me. Chapter 8 - Town of Erude After two days of tiresome travelling, they had finally arrived at the town of Erude, the old wrinkled merchant stopped at the main entrance to register the cart¡¯s entrance, at the entrance of the town there were many guards armed with swords and spear, raven and yaira went ahead into the city. Walking into the city there also were many soldiers in the city they had stoic, but somewhat depressed look about them, the old wrinkled merchant had told them this was a very populated city yet it seemed empty the atmosphere was somewhat gloomy and desolate, the only people passing by the roads were either warriors or guards. Why are there so many guards around? Raven and Yaira were shocked at the town state as they walked through the central road, until a guard approached them, the guard was a young blonde disheveled haired man, he was holding a long spear and he had injuries all over his body. ¡°Are you people civilians, hurry up and go find shelter¡± the young guard shouted with certain distress in his expression ¡°What is happening we just arrived here, I am looking for a person called kurt¡± The young guard face went pale from shock. ¡°You dont know what is happening here, We are in a state of emergency, I don''t have time to explain just hurry up and go find shelter¡± With that the young guard left in a hurry, all the guards in the area were rushing somewhere. Something serious is happening here Yaira and Raven were skeptical about the town¡¯s situation, but without proper equipment they decided it would be better not to intervene. ¡°Come on let''s go¡± Raven said as he and yaira looked at the guards with their swords and spears rushing somewhere. Raven and Yaria had asked the old merchant if he knew a man name kurt, the old wrinkled man answered explaining that kurt was the name of a weapons merchant in town. ¡°That guard didn''t answer, guess we will have to look around, how troublesome¡± Raven was stretching, Yaira was beside him her eyes full disappointment, she had never been to a town before and had only heard what they were like from Stan and Maria but this was far from what she expected,Yaira was sulking but went along with Raven, she was a bit curious, Raven was so very calm his eyes showed no anxiety, it¡¯s was like he had seen this a thousands of times. Looking around at the town, the houses here were made out of red bricks, most of the houses there had seen were remarkable in size but there when compared with some of the outstandingly built mansions it seemed like a dog¡¯s house, Raven concluded that the mansions where were nobles or dukes resided, there was also neatly planned out sidewalk made out of pavestone, Both Raven and Yaira were both taken aback by the town superior materials and investment, if they compared the town of Erude to their village their village would seem like a bunch of uncivilized animals, they continuing their struggle to find kurt in the city, with not many people in the streets and many shops closed they didn''t have a clue as where to find Kurt. After a wandering around aimlessly for about half an hour, they stumbled onto an open shop it had no signboard but they decided to stop by to ask for information, they were tired of lingering around like headless chickens. Entering the the shop, it was a rather small shop with a dark atmosphere the shelves had some weapons but most of them seemed to be rather poorly kept , it was full of dust,the shop looked like it wasn''t cleaned in years,Yaira picked up an axe that was in one of the shelves and the dust from it cause her to instantly cough then she put it back immediately regretting taking it, while Yaira was making a fool of herself, Raven was looking for the owner of the shop but there wasn''t anyone behind the counter. If found on Amazon, kindly file a report. ¡°Is there anyone there?¡± *Silence* Raven went up to the counter and looked behind the counter, there wasn¡¯t anything in there while he was looking through the things behind the counter. ¡°What are you doing¡± A huge 2 meters tall bald man with long scar over his head appeared out of nowhere, staggered Raven jumped back , Yaira who was still curiously looking around at the weapons. ¡°Who are you¡± ¡°Shouldn¡¯t I be the one asking you that, I am this shop owner, name is Kurt¡± Raven was alarmed at first but after hearing the name he sighed in relief. ¡°So you are Kurt¡± ¡°Yes do you have business with me¡± Kurt said rather coldly ¡°Yes,our father,Stan, said we should meet you¡± Yaira seeing what was happening quietly joined Raven and they both bowed. ¡°Stan is your father!?¡±Kurt was stunned, his intimidating presence had gone, now it was much calmer and relaxed ¡°Yes¡± Both Yaira and Raven quickly answered. ¡°That anti-social Stan already has kids this big, I can¡¯t believe this , I apologize for my earlier behavior¡± Kurt replied while smiling and rubbing his nonexistent hair. ¡°So what are you here for?¡± ¡°We left our village to become adventurers,we were wondering if you could give us some equipment, our village had almost no need for that¡± Raven explaining their situation was bit nervous to how Kurt would react. ¡°Sure, if it¡¯s for Stan kids, follow me¡± There was a small door hidden behind the counter, opening the door there was a staircase that lead down to the basement,the stair were made wood and were incredibly old, every step taken there was a creaky sound, there wasn''t much light when we arrived at the basement Kurt turned the light on, in the basement the equipment was much better than at the store and it was thoroughly cleaned. ¡°Pick whatever you like¡± Raven immediately went towards a platemail and checking its weight he liked it and took it, he took of his shirt and put it on immediately, Yaira who was still looking took a glance at Raven changing and her face went bright red. After a while they both had chosen the equipment they would take, Raven had chosen a light platemail and a japanese katana to pair up with his long sword, Yaira had chosen a pair of daggers. Raven was wearing under the platemail a padded sleeveless shirt , with black trousers and a black robe with yellow lining ,Yaira was wearing a brown shirt with white trousers with her newly acquired daggers in her waist. ¡°Now you guys look like real adventurers¡± Kurt announced excitedly ¡°Thank you¡± Raben and Yaira said a little embarrassed ¡°You guys must be strong if Stan send you¡± Kurt analyzing both of them said faintly ¡°Well, I guess he approved our strength¡± ¡°Well then, I would like your help¡± ¡°What with¡± Raven asked with a perplexed look ¡°Please help us, save this town...¡± ________________ Any mistakes tell me please :D Chapter 9 - Devastation What!?, Save the city??! Shocked raven shouted out loud,Yaira also was surprised ¡°Have you seen the current state of the city¡± Kurt asked, his voice trembling in sorrow ¡°Yes it looks vacant and desolate, a waste land.¡± Raven stated with hesitation. ¡°You¡¯re right, but it wasn''t like that before, it all happened a week ago¡± ¡°the town was peaceful the children full of life were playing around chasing each, falling down getting injured and crying yet laughing afterwards, the people walking around the town chattering, the bars were bustling with people eating and drinking to their hearts content, the merchant stores had many customers coming in and out, Erude was once like that¡± ¡°It was a peaceful day when it happened , strong demon beast¡¯s that normally wouldn¡¯t come close to the town, went rampant and attacked,Erude was peaceful town it was totally unexpected,so the town had very few people that could fight such tough beasts, it was a carnage, people were slaughtered, many innocent children lost their lives or suffered long term injuries, it was utter chaos people in absolute fear running for their lives the ones who fell were trampled and died.The small amount of guards in the town were massacred, the beast weren¡¯t doing this for food as they weren¡¯t eating the corpses, the beast looked different ,they were much fiercer than usual some beast that attacked the town were beast that avoided humans at all cost, yet they came and directly attacked the town time and time again during this week and even now the guards are desperately fighting to protect the town.¡± We need your help please!, no more troops of guards are going to arrive from the capital,they have stated that they have sent enough, the town guard won¡¯t be able to contain the constant onslaught for much longer, if the beast break through the last of the guards protecting the city, many lives will be taken needlessly. ¡°Please I beg you help the town, at least until we discover the reason of the unusual beast behavior¡± Kurt pleaded pitifully while he was on his knees. Raven involuntarily let out a sigh, he thought the situation in the town was awful, but he didn¡¯t expect it to be in such a desperate state, he had originally come here only to get better equipment, he wanted to avoid trouble for once, but seeing kurt¡¯s state and Yaira wasn¡¯t going to let him walk away and the old wrinkled merchant had probably already hastily left the town. ¡°Well you gave us this equipment , I guess we can help¡± Raven said a bit reluctantly ¡°That¡¯s great, you guys really are Stan kids¡± Kurt immediately stood up overjoyed ¡°Okay then lets quickly go meet with the guards at the battle front¡± Kurt grabbed a huge axe as his weapon and rushed upstairs, Raven and Yaira were a bit hesitant but they quickly followed the huge bald man. While scurrying through the town streets, they entered a town segment that was completely in ruins, blood stains scattered all over the place , there were huge claw marks on the buildings, which probably were caused by a very frightening beast. The closer they got to the battlefront the more blood they could see all over the place, there were corpses of guards,the stench coming from the bodies suggested they had been there for a couple of days,and maggots were already feasting on the rotten corpses, there were also many severed limbs from beasts and also from humans laying around, Raven was surprised at seeing this horrifying scene but in his eyes one could still see he was calm in contrast Yaira, who had never seen such massacre was feeling repulsed, even though she tried not to show it. When they finally reached the guards camp, the guard camp was set at the outskirts of the town where there was a forest with enormous trees it was a disadvantage to fight in such a place,at the camp there were various pitched tents, there was a big tent in the middle where the injured were treated, the other¡¯s small tents were where the other guards slept, the guards were all manly sitting down in desolation, most of them had many injuries, there was a medic taking care of the ones that were severely injured , the ones with light injuries were taking care of it themselves. ¡°Kurt, you finally arrived¡± A veteran guard with a white hair and little to no injuries on him said happily. ¡®Yes Silvio, I brought some much needed help¡± Kurt politely bowed and then pointed towards Raven and Yaira, Raven wasn¡¯t so sure of the chances of success if they had to go against a horde of powerful beasts, Yaira taking a glance at Raven she was worried about what would happen. ¡°These young¡¯uns? Will help? The veteran guard laughed loudly in irony ¡°Yes Silvio ¡° Kurt replied sharply with seriousness Silvio noticing that Kurt was serious, smiled faintly ¡°I will put my trust in you then Kurt¡± ¡°What¡¯s the current situation Silvio?¡± ¡°We have managed to force them back, but this isn''t the end, they are probably coming back with even more numbers¡± Silvio who gave off a carefree sensation, now gave off a feeling of solemnity. That when they heard a thundering marching sounds, as they looked off into the distance they could see a gigantic horde of crazed beast coming through the thick forest towards them. The guards that were sitting immediately stood up and took their weapons that were already cracked or broken, and prepared for battle. ------------------ Any mistakes, inform me :D Chapter 10 - Bloody Battle Chapter 10 - Bloody Battle The beasts horde was rapidly approaching, Wanting to move the place of the eventual battle, everyone that could still fight rushed in the thick forest . ¡°You two be careful they may be lower-grade beasts without much intelligence, but with this many of them, they could swarm you and kill you with ease¡± Kurt , who was a bit worried warned Raven and Yaira The horde coming towards them had many beasts, there was a pack of huge wolves with razor sharp claws, many gigantic bears with deer like horns and jagged teeth with deadly claws. The beasts scattered around, and attacked anyone they caught sight of, three horned bears charged towards Raven, Raven quickly unsheathed his katana, jumped and slashed one of the bears, cutting its face, it quickly fell dead with it¡¯s blood spattering everywhere, the others two horned bears didn''t even flinch and kept charging aiming their horns at raven, the horned bears were fast, but Raven smartly jumped out of the way and both the bears missed him, and hit themselves piercing each others heads in the process. Silvio was surrounded by wolves, the wolves were weak alone but when in a pack they were formidable, Silvio in this seemingly desperate situation smiled briefly, and swang his big sword around like it weighed as much a feather to him, every time it struck a wolf it quickly tore it in half, Silvio only stopped swinging after a few minutes, all the wolves that had once surrounded him had been slaughtered. Yaira was sneaking in through the trees and taking the beasts by surprise before swiftly cutting their heads off, Yaira was amazed at the dagger sharpness it could easily cut a horned bear¡¯s head. Kurt was rushing through swinging his huge axe, killing the oncoming beast that appeared in his path, leaving behind only a trail of beasts corpses. ¡°It¡¯s finally their turn¡± Silvio who was soaked in blood stared emptily at the sky. Big flying lizards were coming at terrifying pace shooting out a green slimy liquid from their mouth, one of the flying lizards shot it green slimy liquid towards Kurt, Kurt immediately jumped back to avoid it, the place where the green liquid landed had instantly melted and all that was left was a deep hole. ¡°That¡¯s dangerous¡± ¡°We have to kill these flying lizards¡± Kurt hurriedly shouted, the guards that were fighting quickly understood, finishing their battles, they immediately climbed big trees and jumped from them aiming their swords at the lizards that were currently flying low. Raven, while swiftly dodging the acid being shot out by the flying lizards, was quickly slashing the horned bears that had been hit by the acid, with raven getting all the attention from the lizards Yaira sneaked from the trees and silently slashed the lizards neck. These beasts really are dumb, they are making it easier for us Without many casualties they were slowly but surely holding off the beasts, with the beasts uncoordinated attack, which they took full advantage of, they had the flying lizards throw acid at the others beasts, and have the horned bears hit each other,due to their inability to stop once they started charging. ¡°There¡¯s no end to this¡± They kept killing the beasts that were coming nonstop,but there was no end to them, it looked like the more they killed the more beasts appeared. ¡°Let¡¯s separate into three groups, I will go with silvio, girl you go with the guards, boy you¡¯re strong enough to be on your own, we will each cover one area¡± You could be reading stolen content. Head to Royal Road for the genuine story."I will the take the beast coming for the north , girl you and the guards take the ones coming from the east , Boy you take the ones coming from the west, understood" Kurt ordered without wasting a second ¡°Okay¡±Everyone agreed, Yaira was reluctant to leave Raven alone but she decided to follow the orders. Raven,who was alone in his area was rapidly slashing the beasts that came his way, until a enormous boulder was thrown towards him, Raven was taken aback, at the massive boulder coming at him with astonishing speed, Raven skipped rapidly and barely escaped being crushed by the boulder. What the hell was that? Raven glanced at the direction that the immense boulder was thrown from, and there he saw a huge ogre, it¡¯s hideous face and it colossal size of about 4 meters, the enormous boulder it had thrown looked like a pebble when compared to him, the grotesque ogre was also carrying a massive hammer, the ogre looked at raven then smashed his massive hammer down with tremendous strength, the ground trembled, Raven broke into a cold sweat and faintly smiled, he knew this was going to be a hard battle to win. Kurt with Silvio were still cutting down horned bears, they soon noticed that the remaining horned bears and wolves were rapidly running away whimpering, that when they felt an eerie feeling coming over them. *Thud* *Thud* Both Kurt and Silvio nervously looked back after hearing thundering footsteps, they stared in awe at the a unusually large horned bear with lizards wings, the aberration that looked like a mix between the horned bear and the flying lizard, it was drooling, where the saliva fell the ground melted, it deadly sharp teeth showing, its eyes filled with rage gave off a feeling of terror so great that even Kurt and Silvio who were veteran warriors trembled. What in the name of?? Kurt in an extreme state of confusion could only utter such words. ¡°Looks like we will have to go all out¡± Silvio still trembling tightly held his giant sword Yaira with the remaining guards, had killed the remaining flying lizards, having cleaned most of their area, they promptly left towards Kurt¡¯s and Silvio¡¯s area. ¡°They should have cleaned their area too¡± ¡°Yes they are both very strong¡± ¡°Things are going better than expected¡± The guards following Yaira, had regained determination and hope. However, when they encountered Kurt and Silvio heavily injured and struggling to stand, they caught a glimpse of the horned flying bear, that was uninjured, the area around them was completely destroyed with holes everywhere as a result of the acid, the guards that had regained hope were utterly devastated. The hideous ogre hadn¡¯t even moved from where it stood, yet Raven felt enormous pressure to act, it was silent the only sound that could be heard was from the birds that scurried away in panic, the ogre standing only a few meters from Raven watched him closely with interest, then it suddenly plucked out a big tree with extreme ease, and ran towards Raven, every step it took shook the earth slightly.*BOOM BOOM BOOM* The giant ogre closing in on Raven, smashed the tree it held downwards at Raven with immense strength repeatedly, after a while the tree was destroyed from the constant smashing at the ground, *CRACCCCK* the ogre stopped and a wide grin appeared on it¡¯s hideous face, showing it¡¯s rotten teeth, and the indescribable stench coming out from it¡¯s putrid mouth was enough to make one puke in disgust. Raven seeing the ogre with a big tree in it¡¯s hand coming towards him, Raven couldn¡¯t move he was frozen in place from fear, then when the ogre was going to smash the tree downwards at him, Raven who was still immobile, suddenly broke free from his trance and swiftly jumped away and seeing that the ogre was too focused on smashing the tree down with all its strength, Raven with great nimbleness cut the the ogre forearm and rapidly backed away, the giant ogre not even noticing it¡¯s injury, just continued walloping the tree at the ground. *Bam Bam Bam* The giant ogre glanced at where Raven was supposedly crushed, and noticing that Raven body was not there, the ogre suddenly felt blood running down from his forearm, the pain prickled him, confused he dropped the smashed tree and looked to his right, with a startled expression on his ugly face, what he saw there was the person he thought had been smashed by him into tiny little pieces, holding onto his japanese katana that was smeared in blood on his right hand and on his left hand a long sword. The giant ogre¡¯s green jade skin was turning into a red blazing colour, the ogre seemed like it was going to burst, the already enormous ogre was growing even bigger its muscles inflating, when it¡¯s strange transformation had been completed, the giant ogre was even bigger than before its skin had completely turned red, the giant ogre charged at raven with unbelievable speed with the intention of trampling Raven, Raven still knackered from the earlier blow could only stumble to the side to just about evade the charging ogre, the giant ogre¡¯s charge continued after having missed Raven, destroying many trees around the area like a bulldozer, *CRASH BOOM* before it stopped and turned back and seeing it had missed, it prepared to attack again. Raven with alot of effort finally stood up, slowly regaining some composure, he was still dazed from the blow he had taken head on, Raven wanted to grab his japanese katana that been blown away, quite a distance from him, but the giant ogre faster than before dashed towards Raven throwing a barrage of blows filled with anger, Raven was dodging with severe difficulty, then he jumped on the outgoing ogre¡¯s arm and using all of his strength he lunged his long sword towards the ogre left eye, the ogre with it arms stretched couldn¡¯t block it, and the sword pierced his unprotected left eye, the ogre fell back with his hands on it¡¯s eyes in terrible agony, Raven using his last ounce of energy quickly ran and grabbed his japanese katana, the giant ogre was desperately rolling on the ground, blood streaming down it¡¯s disgusting face, Raven in an instant took the chance and slashed the ogre neck, the cut wasn¡¯t deep but huge amounts of blood burst out and showered raven in blood, one last loud cry came from the giant ogre before it died. Part one is almost coming to a close Chapter 12 - Bloody Battle (3) Kurt and the others were struggling to find a solution to hold down the flying horned beast,as they where now, they could only hide like rats from the horned flying bear as it sprayed its deadly acid nonstop, the horned flying bear with the horned bear power and speed and with the mobility and the acid of the flying lizard, it was truly a dangerous foe, the horned flying bear not giving Kurt and the others any breathing space kept ferociously shooting out it¡¯s acid and destroying everything with its overwhelming strength, the area around that was once filled with trees and life was now a wasteland filled with death. Kurt Shouted ¡°We have to restore order the guards are all scattered¡± ¡°What can we do it doesn¡¯t even let off¡± Kurt shouted, many of the guards were just desperately running around in complete disorder Kurt, Silvio and Yaira were the only ones that were carefully thinking through what to do to overcome the disadvantage they were in,they couldn¡¯t approach the beast carelessly due to its acid and even if you managed to avoid being hit by acid you still had to deal with the bear¡¯s sheer strength. ¡°This is bad, we can¡¯t even get close to it¡± With no sort of long range attack to use, they had no options but come up with a plan to somehow attack it from behind without it noticing. ¡°Me and Silvio will distract it you try and attack its wings while it''s focused on us¡± Kurt shouting out orders to the guards that were lost in fear, only hiding suddenly hearing his orders they nodded and organized themselves to prepare the surprise attack on the horned bear Kurt and Silvio came out from their hiding, and then immediately when the horned flying bear caught sight of them it instantaneously threw it deadly acid. *SPLASH* Kurt and Silvio carefully jumped to the side to evade the deadly acid, even a slight drop from the acid would melt your skin and though to your bones. Yaira and the remaining guards seeing that the bear was focused on attacking Kurt and Silvio quickly went around behind it to execute their plan. The flying horned bear sensed as Yaira and the others as they were carefully approaching it from behind it quickly noticed and turned towards them to shoot it acid towards them. ¡°Dodge!¡± Yaira shouted with desperation, Yaira had just about managed to barely dodge,but not all of them were as lucky, some guards were hit by the deadly acid and they melted into nothingness. Kurt and Silvio seeing that decided to act, with all their strength they charged and attacked at the horned flying bear that had turned it¡¯s back to them Kurt holding his big axe, quickly jumped and slashed the tip of the flying horned bear¡¯s wing ,while silvio pierced its right leg, the flying horned bear that was facing the other way swiftly turned around its faced filled with pain, it crouched down and angrily roared,*ARRRR*seeing the large beast injured,seeing how this plan somehow succeed, they were encouraged. Silvio using his huge sword swung it downwards opening a big cut in the bear back then he hastily backed away, Yaira and the guards also took the chance and slashed the bear¡¯s right leg, they were slowly injuring the bear, the bear turned around towards Silvio,Yaira and the guards, now its face was filled with anguish , it crumbled and collapsed making a loud sound as it hit the the ground. *BOOM* The flying horned bear was now bleeding heavily on the ground, the guards felt slightly relieved, but Kurt, Silvio and Yaira didnt dare let their guards down. Kurt angrily shouted at seeing guards sitting down in relief ¡°Don¡¯t let your guards down, it¡¯s still alive¡± Kurt and Silvio carefully approached the flying horned bear to finish it off, the bear was clearly exhausted, its blood was still gushing out forming pools on the floor. Holding his big axe Kurt and Silvio with his huge sword were very alarmed as they got closer to the beast that was laid out on the ground,the flying horned bear suddenly with the last of it¡¯s strength it shot out its deadly acid for one last time, Kurt and Silvio already noticed that it would unleash one last attack, and with rather ease just stepped out of the way. After easily evading the beast last attack, both Kurt and Silvio used all of their strength to pierce the flying horned bear¡¯s head,the beast only let out a low whimper as it died. Finally with the beast dead, Kurt and Silvio could finally relax even if it was only for a moment,then they immediately rushed to Raven¡¯s area. The devilish figure appeared and raven could see him, he was quite the handsome man, he had 2 long horns and dark brown skin, with short black hair and he had a rather lanky build, his face even with a smile gave off a feeling of terror. ¡°Well, I guess I can tell you¡± ¡°I am a higher tier demon, higher level demons have a similar appearance to humans ¡± The strange man said, his eerie smile never leaving his face ¡°Demo-n?¡± Raven uttered with a confused look on his face, demons, he had never heard about them existing, from the books he read in his home village, there were meant to be only humans in the kingdom of Kadrum. The Strange man said ¡°You wouldn¡¯t know about us, we normally don''t show ourselves to people¡± Raven felt that this strange man wasn¡¯t lying but he felt rather suspicious , if he didn''t appear to people, why did he appear here to Raven. Raven was still struggling to get up, then the strange man in a instant appeared before him,and viciously punched Raven down. *CRACK* Raven was immediately flattened down onto the ground,his collarbone completely broken, Raven didn''t let out any screams of agony, the excruciating pain had already caused him to completely lose his senses. The strange man looking at Raven, he briefly laughed then cruelly stepped on his right arm. *CRACK* Raven arm was brutally smashed,his bones pulverized,blood splattering everywhere, the strange man face still showed a glimpse of dissatisfaction. ¡°Only one minute has passed, come on you only have to hold on for four more minutes¡±. The strange man sighed a said, for the first time his eerie smile left his face and said with a slightly angry voice ¡°This is no fun, if there are no scream filled with agony¡± ¡°(sigh)Sorry time is up, I need to leave now,¡±the strange man calmly said his usual smile had quickly returned. Raven relying only on sheer determination managed with great difficulty stand up using his longsword to support himself ¡°You fucking bastard, come back here!¡± The strange man looked back and was somewhat surprised to see Raven standing, he hesitated for a moment then turned back and slowly walked towards Raven, he bore a somewhat angered expression. ¡°Now that¡¯s more interesting, if you didn¡¯t show any resistance, it wouldn¡¯t be any fun after all¡± The strange man quickly dashed and reached Raven in an instant, and using his fingers with the idea of poking Raven¡¯s eyes out, Raven reacting on pure instinct used his long sword to try and block it,as the strange man fingers came in contact with the longsword, the longsword easily broke and the strange man fingers poked Raven¡¯s eyes out. Raven fell back immediately in anguish, blood running down from his eyes ¡°Shit, I went slightly overboard, now he is useless to us¡± ¡°Big sister will be mad at me¡° The Strange man sighed at seeing, Raven rolling around on the ground then he rapidly turned around and scurried away , and immediately disappearing from sight. The dim purple light emitted by the mysterious amulet was growing brighter and brighter,the purple light from the amulet was intensifying at an insane speed, in a flash the strange purple light had lit up all the area around Raven. The strong purple light being emitted by the strange amulet on Raven, the strange light started to slowly seep into inside Raven, Raven¡¯s injuries were slowly being healed by the strange purple light , his right arm that was smashed was slowly being rebuilt, the muscle tissues was being reconstructed, the bone that was smashed into a thousand tiny pieces was being reintegrated. His eyes that were poked out by the male demon, only leaving the empty sockets, were being created once again the pupil , the iris , the cornea all reappeared, his empty eye sockets had again been filled with newly created eyes. The left arm that was snapped, with the purple light in time it turned back to normal , his ribs that were broken were slowly repaired. Slowly Raven¡¯s severe injuries were all being gradually healed by the purple light¡¯s mysterious power. after some time all of Raven¡¯s injuries had completely healed disappeared, his eyes , arms , ribs were all miraculously healed and the purple light had gotten dimmer, before the light was extinguished with a flash it entered Raven¡¯s body. As the strange light entered Raven¡¯s body, his body transformed, his muscles grew bigger and more dense, his platemail that was cracked before was broken and his shirt ripped, a strange red emblem appeared on his chest , his black illustrious hair had grown longer, before it was about shoulder length now it had reached waist length, he also had grown slightly taller now he was about 180cm. A few minutes passed before Raven eventually woke up , Raven was surprised that that he woke up , Raven thought he would never wake up again. What my eyes? , I can see, my arms Raven was astonished all his injuries , his arm¡¯s , eyes , it all had been mysteriously healed even the exhaustion was completely washed away. This so strange, I feel great. Raven stood up with ease and felt much better than ever before, looking at his hands, he felt his strength had doubled no- tripled, Raven felt as light as a leaf but with the strength of a raging bull, then he noticed the strange amulet that was violet had turned grey, like it¡¯s had lost it¡¯s colour, I don¡¯t know what happened, but this must be a blessing bestowed to me by the gods. Now that I somehow miraculously survived, I need to get even stronger, the way I am now I can¡¯t protect myself or the ones I care about. Raven had made a decision and no one or anything would make him change that decision, Raven decided to leave the town and travel by himself, he would feel sad for leaving Yaira behind , but it was needed for her to become stronger and more independent. Silvio with a hearty laugh said ¡°That boy is really amazing!¡± Yaira was relentlessly looking around for Raven , but he couldn¡¯t be found, when she spotted Raven¡¯s katana and the broken long sword, she quickly went to check them, she picked up the katana,the strange amulet that Raven carried was next to it , Yaira almost missed it but when she noticed it, she immediately took it. Why is this here A young guard blurted out ¡°But where is he gone off to?, did he die¡± Yaira twitched as she heard that , and she felt a strange pain clench her heart, she refused to believe it, she would never accept that Raven had died , unless she herself could confirm it. Kurt upon seeing Yaira a bit angry at the young guard, he said ¡°I don¡¯t think he died , he is really strong, he can survive by himself¡± Yaira felt incredibly angry at Raven , she thought he had planned to leave her from the very start. Raven, you big idiot,I will get stronger than you,and next time i see you, I will beat some sense into you Yaira swore to get payback when she encountered Raven again. Raven who was quite a distance away already felt a shiver down his spine. Kurt said ¡°Let¡¯s go back,girl¡± ¡°I am sure he is alive¡± Yaira stood there watching the sunset , before she turned back and went back with the others As they went back, the sun was slowly descending the horizon announcing the end of another day, the moon that played a mere second part to the warm sun during the day, stood alone in the spotlight it¡¯s beautiful gleam lighting up the dark night, the stars were sparkling with great charm. Chapter 15 - Three Months Later An old wagon was riding along a rocky path,the old wagon made out wood seemed like it could fall apart at any moment, inside the wagon there were people chained, the people were extremely malnourished,their faces were ashen, a rotten smell filled the inside of the wagon. Suddenly the old wagon came to a halt. the slaves inside the wagon shook and some fell down, but without any strength they could only stay put, so as not to waste any important energy. There was a person in the wagon¡¯s way, it was a young man with a black hood and white trousers, he stood there in front of the wagon. A old soldier with an angry expression, jumped off the wagon and said ¡°Hey Kid, get out of the fucking way¡± ¡­¡­. The young man didn¡¯t answer just stayed still like a statue ¡°Kid,are you deaf?!¡± The old soldier said furiously as he took out his sword ¡­¡­.. The young man remained silent. ¡°I will fucking kill you kid!¡± The old man snapped and charged towards the young man , holding his sword preparing to slash, when he was about to slash the young man , the old soldier noticed his arm was cut off *AAAAHHHH* The old soldier fell back and he screamed in agony then lost conscience. ¡°What happened¡± Four more soldiers jumped off the wagon,upon seeing what had happened they immediately charged towards the young man. In an instant the young man dodged all their attacks , and swiftly kicked the soldier to his left , breaking the soldier¡¯s arm, then he grabbed another soldier to his right and viciously kneed him in the stomach. *POW* Both the soldiers fell down unconscious, the other two soldiers backed away shocked, after seeing their comrades easily defeated by an unarmed young man. The two soldiers scared uttered. ¡°Who are you¡± ¡­¡­.. The young man didn¡¯t answer. ¡°This is just a 3rd tier slave wagon, it¡¯s not worth anything¡± The older of the two soldiers nervously said , with hope that it would convince the young man to let them go. The older soldier rubbing his hands together with a worried expression said ¡°Could you please let us pass, we can compensate you¡± .. The young man like a flash charged towards the two soldiers , quickly punching the one to the right in the face , while rotating his body and elbowing the other soldier in the chest. *PAW* The young man whispered, ¡°Filthy rats¡±, it was easy to notice the disdain in his words. With the four guardsmen now all unconscious, the young man slowly walked towards the old wagon. The slaves inside the wagon just hearing screams, did not knowing what had happened, the wagon door suddenly opened, the people in the wagon cowered back in fear. ¡°This is pretty disgusting¡± The young man said as he looked at the state of the people kept inside the wagon. The slaves in the wagon just stared at the young man in a trance. ¡°Are you guys, just going to stay there¡± The young man under his robe had a confused expression. The slaves inside the wagon hesitated for a moment then rushed out of the disgusting wagon. As all the slaves were rushing out of wagon the young man just stood there watching the scene , when people had left the the wagon, the young man checked inside again, there was little girl still lying there. The young man walked into the wagon, curious as to why the little girl was still there then he asked her. ¡°Oi,Why didn¡¯t you leave?¡± The little girl didn¡¯t even flinch , she was wearing some ragged clothes,she looked sickly and extremely malnourished, she had long blonde hair, and looked 12 or 13 years old at most. One of the others slaves said ¡°Don¡¯t bother, that girl is half dead¡± ¡­.. The young man ignored the slave and picked up the little girl in his arms ,the little girl was unconscious, her breathing was faint , she was really weak, her face was heavily bruised , the young man carefully carried her out of the wagon. This girl is in a really bad state , if she isn''t treated immediately , she will in less than three days. as the young man left the wagon with the little girl in his arms , he announced loudly. Then the young man turned his back to them and with the little girl on his arms, shook off his hood and prepared to run off. the teary eyed old man yelled out. ¡°Wait, young man, please I want to know at least know the name of my benefactor¡± The young man was silent for a moment then he faintly said. ¡°Raven¡± ____________________________ Raven with the little girl in his arms, after running for about half and hour inside the forest, he found a place he could use for camping, Raven decided to stop there and think about a treatment for the little girl,the little girl was still unconscious, but she seemed to be having a nightmare,and she was sweating a lot. Raven set the little girl down and got water from a nearby river and helped her drink it , then finally the little girl settled down and stopped sweating, raven then quickly went out into the forest to hunt to get some much needed food for the starving little girl. Three months had passed since Raven¡¯s transformation, his body grew much stronger and all his senses were boosted. His eyesight now was as sharp as an eagle¡¯s. His hearing was incredibly acute. His sense of smell was as good as a fox¡¯s. Raven as he ran through the forest picked up some medical herbs along the way, then he spotted a wild boar drinking water from a river, he swiftly and silently approached and crouched behind a bush waiting for a chance to kill the unaware boar, with great accuracy raven jumped out of the bush and easily pierced the boar¡¯s temple with his fingers. Raven grabbed the dead boar , it was quite a big boar, but Raven picked up like it was some straw, and he immediately ran back to the camp. When Raven arrived back at the camp,he had taken less than thirty minutes to go and come back, the little girl was still unconscious , she seemed scared like she was having a terrible nightmare. Raven quickly started up a fire to cook the boar, as the boar cooked, Raven grinded the medical herb,artemisia, into in a white powder then he added boiling water to it and it became a white liquid. It¡¯s ready Raven shook the little girl for her to wake up. The little girl finally opened her eyes , her charming emerald green eyes looked directly at Raven , then she suddenly scrambled back in and in fear. ¡°Don¡¯t be scared, you shouldn¡¯t move around in that condition¡± ¡°Who are you!¡± The little girl said, tears were forming in her pretty eyes. Raven said sincerely. ¡°My name is Raven, calm down, I won¡¯t hurt you¡± The little was still a bit scared but decided to trust Raven for now. ¡°Here is some medicine, it should help you regain some strength¡± Raven offered her the medicine with a smile on his face The little girl was still alarmed, but she took the medicine and obediently drank it. ¡°The boar is ready ¡± the little girl looked over at the cooked boar and started drooling. Raven took out a dagger and cut the boar is into medium sized pieces , then he took a piece. Raven said as he gave the little girl a piece of the boar¡¯s meat. ¡°Here eat it¡± The little girl was peckish and hastily took the piece of meat and instantly gulped it down like a savage. ¡°I have not asked yet, what is your name?¡± The little girl stopped eating for a moment and then faintly replied ¡°M-M-Maya¡± Raven said ¡°that¡¯s a nice name¡± After a few minutes the little girl had eaten more than half of the boar by herself,Raven was already satisfied and wanted to ask a few questions to the little girl. how did such a little girl become a slave. I am a bit curious about it but i guess i should wait for her to open up to me. Raven thought for a second then said. ¡°We are going to stay here until you recover some of your strength¡± The little girl after finally satisfying her hunger quietly nodded. Chapter 16 - Setting Off To Kao five days had passed , Maya the little girl, was still regaining her strength but she was much better now. She was still wearing the same tattered clothes as there were no place to buy any inside a forest, but her face had regained some life, her beautiful green eyes had regained hope, before she could only look sad but now it seemed like she could at least look happy even if only a bit. Every day eating the meat with lots of protein and fruits with many different vitamins , Raven was using all his knowledge of nutritionism to get Maya at least a healthier state. ¡°I am back¡± Raven had just come back from hunting bringing with him a few dead rabbits, Maya had just finished starting up a fire , Raven had taught her a few things and he was surprised at how fast she picked them up. Raven then quickly gutted the rabbits and cooked them , while the rabbit was cooking , maya was staring fixedly at the blazing hot fire, her eyes were a bit distant and filled with sadness, Raven was a bit hesitant , he didn¡¯t want to question the little girl¡¯s past , but from spending a week with her and watching her he could tell it was probably a traumatic experience. ¡°We will leave in two days¡± Raven said. And then finally maya looked away from the fire. ¡°Oka--y¡± She said in a low voice This girl is too shy ¡°In these two days, I can teach you some very basic self defense, of course only if you want to¡± Raven had originally planned on staying in this camp for two weeks but Maya¡¯s recovery was at a much faster rate than he thought it would be so he wanted set off to the capital Kao. Maya looked a bit reluctant at first but she knew that to survive,she had to be stronger, because in this world strength is everything. The strong survive, the weak die! ¡°Yes,please teach me!¡± The timid little girl loudly exclaimed It was a pleasant surprise for Raven, if she was only learning it half heartedly it would be no use, but Maya seemed determined to learn even if it was only something simple anything that helped her survive would be beneficial to her. ¡°Alright¡± Raven said as he looked at the little girl, he was relieved, the little girl was finally opening up to him even if just a tiny bit. He was used to seeing kids with traumatic pasts due to his past life, and he knew how to deal with them, he had to wait for the little girl to feel comfortable enough so she started talking about her past willingly. The rabbits were finally ready so Raven took one for him and offered the other one to Maya Raven said as he offered her the other rabbit ¡°Eat it, we will start training after lunch¡± Maya took it without any sort of hesitation and said as she smiled ¡®OK¡± She smiled this was the first time Raven had seen the girl smile , even if it was a smile filled with sorrow,she had been expressionless all of the of the past five days, this was at least an expression. Maya stopped for a second then only nodded and continued chewing. They had finished their meal and started packing up their stuff , it didn¡¯t take long as they didn''t have a lot of things to pack. ¡°Let¡¯s go¡± Raven said as he walked into the forest Maya didn''t answer and just simply followed him. Raven thought, as they were walking through the forest, this forest was a lot easier to walk through , it wasn¡¯t as dense as the other forests Raven had been in since he was reincarnated. ¡°Why are you going to Kao¡± Maya asked , Raven was taken aback by her question , he thought she was too reserved to be able to ask. ¡°Well, various reasons¡± Raven was going to Kao specifically to see if he could gather any knowledge about the glyph on his chest, for the past three months that had passed before he met maya , Raven was mostly training in seclusion inside forests or dungeons. He still didn''t completely know the extent of changes inside of his body, he knew his senses had sharpened and he was much stronger , but he couldn¡¯t tell if he was a human anymore. Also he was taking Maya there to possibly leave her in a good person hands. Maya upon hearing Raven answer was curious but didn¡¯t want to probe into his affairs. And with that they quickly went through the forest as they finally left the it, they stole two horses from a farmer¡¯s stable and set off to Kao in a much faster pace , one month passed and they had finally arrived at the great capital, Kao. ¡°Finally, we are here¡± Raven said as he dismounted the horse , Maya soon followed and they both set off to the city entrance. Chapter 17 - Trouble Upon entering the city, Raven was shocked at how much more developed the capital was compared the cities he had visited before. The buildings and house were much more majestic, the shops had glass show windows,there wasn¡¯t in any of the shops in Erude, the houses overall were much bigger and were obviously made of higher grade material , almost all the houses had exquisitely detailed designs on their gates that gave off a feeling of aristocracy. But there was a huge castle that stood out apart from the other buildings, it was clearly at a whole new level it caught the eyes of anyone or anything that was currently walking around the city. From a far Raven could see that the architecture of that castle was unique he had never seen anything quite like it in this world, the castle was enormous it stood above all other buildings inside Kao , it¡¯s carefully made structure and how incredibly strong it was amazed Raven. The city had large paved roads, that fancy carriages passed through. As Raven and Maya walked around aimlessly in awe, there many differents shops that sold expensive jewelry this was clearly a district for the upper class , the men in the streets were mostly wearing elegant suits and the women were wearing incredibly fancy dresses that were clearly made from the best silk available. ¡°This town really is impressive¡± Raven said in surprise. Maya was equally amazed at how stunning the city was, she looked like a lost rabbit not knowing where to look at. Raven and Maya being so poorly dressed were feeling a bit out of place. Raven quickly noticed that they were receiving glares from all over the place, the rich snobby people apparently didn¡¯t like savage looking people walking around them. Soon enough five guardsmen armed with longspears came towards Raven and Maya. Raven unintentionally let out a sigh, this was the second time, he had visited a town and instantly met trouble. Judgemental much? ¡°Hey you two, this is not a place for the likes of you!¡± A guardsman said with contempt as he pointed his long spear at Raven. Raven never liked having people judge him based on his appearance and was irritated at the guards but decided to keep quiet to avoid trouble. ¡°We can¡¯t have garbage like you walking around here¡± Another guardsman said with a face filled with disdain. Maya behind Raven was trembling she was scared the terrible memories of the past abuse she had suffered probably had resurfaced in her mind. Raven looking back and seeing Maya desperately clutching on his arm, got even more irritated if these guardsmen didn¡¯t immediately leave his sight he would probably end up killing them. ¡°Don¡¯t worry, we were already leaving¡± Raven said while trying his best to fake a friendly smile. Before the other guardsmen could even grasp to what had just happened, Raven swiftly kicked the guardsmen to his left in the face then he twisted his body kicking the other guardsmen that was to his left on the abdomen, then he jumped up and kneed another guardsman that was standing still in shock, knocking him out and fracturing his nose. In a matter of seconds four guardsmen were knocked unconscious , only one was still standing , the remaining guardsman was trembling. ¡°You will not get away with this¡± The remaining guardsman uttered in fear, Raven ignored him and viciously high kicked him in the head, breaking his nose as a result. Maya stared at Raven in shock , she couldn''t imagine he was so strong. Raven worryingly rubbed his head, he had a bad premonition and regretted what he had just done, then after letting out a sight he immediately grabbed Maya and ran away. A few minutes later,after Raven left more guardsmen came and the people that had watched the surprising scene reported all that had happened. ¡°Whoever done this is probably is not someone we can defeat¡± They were knocked out in only one move Another guardsman said as he checked the injuries in the four unconscious men. ¡°We should report this to the Chief¡± One guardsman nervously said ¡°Yes, let¡¯s go¡± The group of guardsmen quickly picked up the injured men and left. ____________ ¡°What¡± ¡°What do you mean, some of my men were injured!¡± An Angry old man with short white hair and a long white beard shouted, the man was massive over two meters tall and incredibly muscular giving off an incredibly strong feeling. ¡°Who was it¡± ¡°The witness said it was a young man with a black hood and white pants and little girl was wearing a unkempt brown dress¡± A young guardsman said cowardly. ¡°Send all men, we need to capture this person, we can¡¯t have anyone creating a mess in the city especially at such an important time¡± The old man quickly ordered. All the guardsmen without wasting any time left to look for Raven and Maya. + Sorry about the 2 short chapter . Chapter 18 - Outskirts Raven carrying Maya had quickly left the main city , and now was currently at the outskirts of Kao in a smaller district of the city. ¡°I think they won¡¯t chase us here¡± even after running such a great distance Raven showed no signs of exhaustion. Raven checked his surroundings and immediately noticed that this part of the town was extremely poor , compared to the part they were previously in. The houses were mostly made of wood and most of the shops were closed, Raven wasn¡¯t all that surprised, all big cities have a huge discrepancies between the rich and the poor and it was the same here in this world. ¡°Are you even human?¡± Maya asked as she admired how undeniably strong Raven was. ¡°Who knows¡± Raven said avoiding the question as he let out a sigh. Maya pouted for not receiving a answer to her question but she eventually decided to let it go. Growl* A loud sound came from Raven stomach, he was very hungry. One of the results of the changes in his body was the incredible increase in appetite. ¡°I am feeling a teeny bit peckish¡± Raven said as he rubbed his stomach. Maya couldn¡¯t stop herself from thinking This guy eats too much Raven sighed, getting into trouble upon entering the city really was unfortunate, and it had completely ruined his plans, now he needed to lay low for a few days and hope things in capital calmed down. After finding a suitable place to eat , a small field with a big tree, it was currently autumn, the dried fall leaves falling gave off a serene feeling which Raven particularly enjoyed. Raven took out two sandwiches he had made that morning just before they had arrived in Kao, it wouldn¡¯t satisfy him for long but at least he could get rid of the awful feeling of being hungry. He handed one to Maya, he didnt even have to ask her if she wanted one anymore she just took it without hesitating, she had gotten completely used to Raven by now. ¡°Seems like it will be a lot more troublesome than i first imagined.¡± Raven said as he looked at the falling dried fall leaves drifting slowly. Maya also looked at it and smiled it was a moment of peace which for her was a rarity Then after they finished eating, Raven stood up , maya did the same, and they both went to search for a place they could sell some of the stuff they had gathered from the animals they killed. As they searched for place that would buy their stuff but most of the shops were closed and there only a few people on the streets and the people that were on the streets scurried away when they noticed Raven and Maya. ¡°Are they afraid of strangers?¡± Raven said in confusion. Raven spotted just at the corner of the street he was on a young woman walking at fast pace away from them , Raven rushed to her and grabbed her without thinking. ¡°Please dont hurt me!¡± The woman yelled in fear with tears in her eyes as Raven held her by the arm ¡°Don¡¯t worry , we are not going to hurt you¡± Raven said calmly the woman was still not convinced and was still crying out for help. ¡°We just arrived in the city , so i don''t understand what is going on?¡± Stolen content warning: this tale belongs on Royal Road. From the young woman eyes tears were coming out then she faintly said. ¡°They¡­.do terrible things to us so we don¡¯t go see the festival¡± ¡°Oh i am sorry , if i scared you¡± Raven was honestly sorry for the poor young woman, she was terrified , Raven¡¯s dislike for the guardsmen was only growing more and more intense. Raven considered himself to be a cold person that was emotionless but ever since he had being reincarnated he was much warmer and caring person and listening to the young woman, he actually felt anger rising from within him. ¡°but is there a place we can stay for a few days?¡± He said as he tried to quickly change the subject. Raven quickly understood that the festival was probably for everyone but the the guards had strict orders to harass the lower class as to stop them from even thinking about going to the festival. ¡°Come with me then¡± the woman said as she wiped away her tears. The woman walked rapidly towards a small building made out of wood that was closed , Raven and Maya naturally followed her. When they walked in to wooden building , it was completely empty , a gloomy and depressing atmosphere filled it. ¡°We are closed to avoid trouble, but you can stay here¡± The woman said Then when the woman prepared to leave , Raven called out to her again. ¡°About that festival can you tell me more about it.¡± Raven uttered. The woman turned back and looked a bit nervous but tried her best to tell Raven about the Autumn festival. The autumn festival is biggest event on the calendar it is only set for once a year , and it is a great feast provided by the Imperial family to thank the gods for another great year for the empire. After night had fallen Raven was gazing at the stars from the rooftop , Maya was already soundly asleep. Raven then looked at the palm of his right hand and pondered What is going to happen now? I intend to make the chapters longer for this novel too but at least for now i like how the chapters are progressing. Dunno if you feel the same way though. Chapter 19 - Plan After having spent the night in the inn , Raven woke up pretty early , the birds were chirping happily, but their happiness unfortunately didn¡¯t reach this part of the city. As Raven was taking a walk early in the morning, the part of the city where he was at , was looking even more depressing, it looked completely like a ghost town, no one left their houses afraid of being robbed or punished by the guardsmen. Raven was alone and decided to train as there was nothing better to do, he then went to the place they had lunch yesterday. the Big tree , with its surroundings covered by its dried autumn leaves, Raven stood underneath it and started doing some stretches, then proceed to do some light exercises then moved on to much more harder and exhausting exercises. Having finished his exercises, Raven sat down under the big tree¡¯s cool shade, and to his surprise he saw Maya was quietly walking towards him. She came over and not saying anything quickly sat down next to Raven. Raven thought this was a huge chance to make a witty comment and he wouldn¡¯t let it just slip. ¡°What were you lonely without me?¡± Raven said as he smiled wrily. Maya didn''t answer and just looked away , a slight tone of pink could just about be seen in her small pretty face. I was right?! Raven felt very happy, maybe Maya was little by little finally overcoming, her dark days as a slave. Raven¡¯s thoughts were somehow right on mark, Maya had stayed with Raven for about two months and had grown to trust him completely. She had swore to herself not to trust anyone ever since her parents were slaughtered right in front of her. But ever since she had been saved by Raven she started to slowly trust him, he had saved her, she was frightened at the beginning, thinking about why would he have saved her. But he never had any ulterior motives, which she found out as she travelled with him for the past two months. .... A few days later , Raven felt himself being restricted to staying inside the inn , there were many guards around even in the outskirts of the city , Raven was currently sitting down on his bed trying to think of a way to escape the city, he had already given up on staying in the city and wait out the storm. Could they possibly be looking for me How will I escape now? If I leave Maya here i can easily make my escape, but leaving her here alone would make me into scum. Raven then quickly got up and out of the bed , and went down to eat some breakfast that the young woman from before had prepared for them, Maya was already happily eating , Raven then sat next to Maya and ate the vegetable soup that was prepared for them. ¡°Is the amount of guards loitering around here normal when it¡¯s this close to the festival?¡± Raven asked to conclude his suspicions. ¡°It¡¯s pretty strange, there are more guards than there would normally be¡± The young woman nervously answered. Raven had come to know the young woman , she was extremely shy and worked with her father handling the Inn, but most of the time relied on her father to handle clients, instead she worked at the back cooking and cleaning rooms. After they had eaten their breakfast , Raven wanted to talk the young woman in private. ¡°May i have a word with you¡± Raven asked the young woman Y---Yes The young woman stuttered And they left and went to the kitchen while Maya was still eating. She was worried but then Raven with a rather serious look said. ¡±I have a favour to ask of you¡± ¡°These guards are probably on the lookout for me, so if you could lead Maya out of the city, I will distract them¡± ¡°Why are they chasing you¡± The young woman anxiously said ¡°You don¡¯t worry about that¡± Raven felt that it would be a pain to explain it so he decided to not to. ¡°That is all I ask of you, please , I will definitely repay you someday¡± ¡°Okay , but do you want me do it now¡± The young woman asked. Raven said ¡°I will leave first and take on the guards, you guys quickly leave after that¡± The young woman said in a determined tone ¡°Okay, I understand¡± ¡°Thinking about it , I haven¡¯t asked your name¡± Raven noticed it and felt a bit awkward ¡°My name is Luana¡± Raven then deeply bowed and said ¡°Thank you Luana¡± Luana blushed slightly, she wasn¡¯t used to having men being so close to her. ¡°Also could i ask you for one more thing?¡± ..... fifteen guardsmen were frantically chasing a masked man, the mask the man was wearing completely red and, it had black horns coming out of the forehead, it¡¯s mouth wide open showed a terrifying grin, it looked just like a oni. The masked man held a katana that was red from the blood of the guardsmen he had killed. After the guardsmen apparently had driven the masked man into a dead end, the masked man turned around, all the guardsmen without wasting a second charged towards him, but he dodged their reckless attacks and with complete ease slashed their necks. All fifteen guardsmen died in an instant , then the masked man without looking back scurried away. They just keep on coming I wonder if they got away safely I think I should start thinking about escaping. The masked man was obviously Raven. Raven was currently carrying out his part of the plan, but due the sheer number of guardsmen that honestly shocked Raven he didnt expect such a large number of guardsmen. More guards appeared in Raven¡¯s way, this time there were more than thirty guardsmen blocking Raven passage. Ten more guardsmen finally had caught up to Raven and ended his possibilities of turning back. Raven then abruptly stopped and looked around he was surrounded in a narrow street that was swarming with guardsmen. Looks like I will have to fight. another short chapter but it''s all setting up for a long one. Any mistakes don''t hesitate to inform me Chapter 20 - Situation ¡°Are you telling me, you still haven¡¯t contained the rebels!¡± The one who said that was the king of the empire of Kadrum,Ira, with his long white beard and overwhelming presence,he was well known for his shrewdness and fierce temperament. ¡°I am incredibly sorry, your majesty¡± Another man said, this man was the general and leader of the guardsmen within the city of kao,his name is Morlt. it was a huge hall with the king sitting on his throne that was gilded in gold and encrusted by diamonds ,he was currently reporting the recent accident in the city to the king and the damage caused. At that moment the empire of Kadrum was actually going through a lot of difficulty , it had being the one and only true ruler of the continent of Dhados , but now a new force was emerging. A new Empire that ruled a small part of the east , The Empire of Radus. had steadily grown more powerful due to it¡¯s king¡¯s effective ruling, it now had control over most of the eastern side of the continent of Dhados , and Kadrum could only accept bitterly that their time of being the sole sovereign empire over the whole continent was officially over. Now many rebellions were starting up in Kao , but most of them were quietly contained but this time it was going out of control , the autumn festival was in less than two days and the city was in great turmoil. The rebellion this time was carefully organized, but the question everyone was asking themselves what was the purpose of the rebellion, overthrowing the current king would be impossible with just a simple rebellion. ¡°A oni masked man has been causing all kinds of trouble¡± ¡°He is someone we have never seen before, we are currently investigating his identity. ¡°Most of the other troublemakers have been made to retreat, but there are some still on the loose¡± ¡°You fool!, them retreating won¡¯t do us any good, capture them.¡± The king yelled out in complete rage. ¡°I¡¯m sorry your majesty¡± The man known as the leader of the guards, who was known for his pride and honor was on his knees humbly apologizing to the king. ¡°I¡¯ve had enough of your uselessness¡± ¡°I will let the black corps handle this instead¡± ¡°Your majesty, please forgive me this time¡± ¡°Give me another chance¡± Morlt implored the king ¡°No, you¡¯ve had your chance¡± ¡°Now you can forget about this, the black corps will take care of it¡± the king fiercely proclaimed without a care for the man¡¯s plea ¡°Now you can leave¡± The man was then shown the way out of the king¡¯s throne room , he was left in distraught having lost one of his only chances to gain some trust from the king. ¡°Call Karr here¡± ¡°I am already here your majesty¡± A ninja come out of the shadow in the corner of the room and said calmly as he bowed. ¡°You understand the situation¡± ¡°Yes,your majesty¡± ¡°I will leave it to you, to sort it out, it doesn''t matter the means you use¡± The king said. ¡°Yes, I understand your majesty¡± The ninja said with a faint voice as he disappeared into the shadows. ¡­. Raven was completely surrounded but he was extremely calm, he trusted his abilities and knew handling this many guardsmen wasn¡¯t an impossible task. ¡°Attack¡± A group of ten guardsmen rushed towards Raven with their long spears aiming to pierce Raven. It was gradually growing brighter , Raven couldn''t look away it was like it was sucking him in. What is that? Raven could only cluelessly question what the sphere was. he felt a strangely warm sensation coming from the violet sphere ,for some reason he was attracted to it but he couldn''t move and touch it, his body was completely paralysed. after looking at around . all he could see was darkness completely surrounding him, the only source of light was the one violet sphere that was glowing. Raven was relentlessly trying to grab the sphere but it was no use his body wouldn''t budge even an inch. The violet sphere then approached Raven it was like it was teasing him by saying catch me if you can. Why do i feel i absolutely need to grab hold of that sphere. Still trying to grab hold of the violet sphere , Raven wouldn''t give up , he felt if he gave up he would lose something very important to him, he didn''t know what, but he just felt it. Winter had started last month and it was nearing the harshest time of winter , Raven knew he would probably have to stop somewhere for a brief time and wait out the harsh winter. Snow was slowly falling down from the sky.The meadow was already covered in thick layer of snow making it extremely difficult to walk through. Raven wanted to quickly leave such a open field, where he would be easily caught in a blizzard , it would be too dangerous to walk into a blizzard. "Just a little bit more" Raven had seen a forest earlier and was heading towards it , it would definitely be better than staying in such a open field. Raven immediately pounced on a chance to finally rest, He sat down beneath the roots , almost no snow fell in this space. Raven then took out from the small brown bag some wooden sticks and two rocks. He failed a few times due to his numb hands but he eventually got a small fire going. "I am saved" "That should also keep anything dangerous away" Raven then rolled himself like a armadillo close to the fire and tried covering all his body with the fur coat. "I really don''t wanna ever again go through something like this" Raven silently murmured to himself , the small fire helped but he still felt like his whole body was freezing. Raven feeling a lot better let himself drift out into sleep again. Chapter 25 - Looking for Warmth After having slept for a few more hours , Raven woke up and made his way of through the pile of snow that had clogged up the entrance to the space. He actually really wanted to stay still until the end of the winter like a animal hibernating, but he was truly hungry and desperately needed to get something to eat. It''s truly unfortunate having to leave this place. Raven then paid his respects to the old tree and left , that tree being there for him probably had saved his life. "Now, first, get something to eat" Raven then carefully looked around the forest , it was early in the morning and the sun was out, but it''s emitted heat unfortunately didn''t reach Raven. After searching around for only 30 minutes, he struck gold. He found a white fox, then after inspecting closely He found out that the fox was actually eating a dead moose. The moose flesh seemed fresh it had probably being killed last night, the moose body had being severed in 2 pieces, the backside part was a few meters away from Raven, where the fox was eating and the other part was missing. And there was long bloody trail left that lead to somewhere Raven definitely didn''t want to go. Surely you didn''t do this? The creature that did this is dangerous, to kill in such a violent way and carry it , I should definitely avoid this creature. Raven wasn''t scared of the fox , so he slowly approached the dead moose. The white fox glanced at Raven but didn''t seem to bothered at all about Raven and just continued eating. Raven was still very careful , he didn''t want to get bitten by the fox and possibly contract some disease. He then unsheathed his Katana and cut a lump of meat of the moose. The fox seemed to be pretty calm about it , it didn''t even flinch or maybe it was just really starving. After a lot of thinking , out of pity Raven decided to give the fox the last piece of meat. He hoped deep in his heart that he wouldn''t regret it , but in the end he still felt sad about giving away his meat away to an animal.
