《Bumi》 Prologue : The beginning It was a sunny day here in Lavorant, a city which located near a harbor that was bustling with life. In one of the famous street restaurant, just right around the city corner was a boy in his sixteen. He was wearing a red cap, a green jacket and yellow pants. Such contrast would normally warrant unwanted attention in another city but it didn''t happen here, since a marine harbor symbol was clearly printed on the back of the jacket. It was actually one of the common uniform for the dock helper in the nearby harbor, such was a normal sight for the nearby passerby. " Basara , here !" The boy then turned his head towards the callings and his expression changed greatly from dull and became brimming filled with joy. " Kazama , long time no see , come we eat in this restaurant, my treat." " Ahahahaha sure thank you, was I late ?" " Nope and besides its no problem hahahaha, come come." And thus both of them entered the restaurant that Basara had standing in front of before. Quickly they searched for an empty seats near the window where they can gaze freely towards the bustling streets. " Oh.. look at you, and your arm muscle eh Basura, the so called strong man" " Shut up and just order your food then we can talk all you want, I am hungry." " fine , fine." A waiter then come towards them after Basara flicked his finger, bringing with him a set of the restaurant menu list. Basura than mentioned a certain dish with the drinks and the waiter quickly jolted down what he said, different from his buddy Kazama who was still confused with the food name in the menu. " Hey Basara, what does this mean ?" His fingers was pointing at the a certain dish name which Basara followed quickly and nodded. " Oh that is a crab with coconut sauce, it is no bad." " Not bad huh ..hmmm fine, I will trust your judgment." Kazama then just nodded towards the waiter while also not forgeting to mention a glass of fresh water for his drink. The waiter then quickly left them and went towards the restaurant''s chef. *** Time passed by as the two boys finish up their foods and proceed with their chatter. " So Basara, life here is not bad right ?" " Bad ? are you mocking me ? it is heaven compare to what I had to experience before." " Hahaha don''t be angry, I am just really curious you know ?" "Right, whatever." " Never mind then, do you have any difficulties adjusting with your works in the harbor." " Nope, not at all, and once against thanks for giving me the chance." his words was full of his honest feelings accompanied by a smile that appeared in his face. " Don''t mind it dude, It was after all the winds, the very wind takes me to you , yup." " The wind huh ... you really like that words." " Well that is my way of life, free as the wind, how about you ?" " Mine ?" " Yes, who else am i talking right now ..." " Sorry, it just that happen again when you were talking." " That ... is it still that bad ?" " Nah ...not that bad but sometimes it occur briefly." " Well that is good if there is some improvement, tell me if anything happen okay." " I hope it wont to come to that point...anyway let''s talk about other things ... have you found any information about her ?" Basara tried to quickly change the topic yet he failed against as his curiosity and worries takes the better of him, Kazama just smiled tough at his friends blunder and with an apologetic face answered. " About your mother ? I am sorry nothing yet." " Is ..is that so ..okay don''t mind it , you can give it up you know." " Nah, a man can''t go back to his promises !, I had promised to you that day that if you followed me I will certainly find your mother !" Basara then suddenly smiled again and said simple "thank you" word as a small tear can be found welling up in the corner of his eyes. **** 2 years have gone by since the two first met. It was a dark and gloomy night, with certain humidity that could warn the populace, rain could come anytime. Such a thing would of course made some people to think again about going outside. Yet in the dark alley somewhere in the slump was a boy wanting to give up his life, no complains were uttered at all from his mouth. Only emptiness could be seen from his black eyes. Blood could still be found flowing from his lips and heads. Perhaps unconsciously he was biting his lips to ascertains him self that he was still alive, but the wound on his head was another things. No other explanation could be said other than the fact someone had hit him hard enough in his head that blood could flow from it. Yes, in fact not so long ago he was still perfect, perfect in a sense that he still had yet want to yield his life but all of that changed in the span of hour, or perhaps minutes. His mother were forcefully taken apart from him. His mother who was the only mental support he had in the harsh street life was kidnapped or perhaps stolen back by a man claiming to be his father. He had previously no knowledge concerning his father appearances outside what his mother said about him. She said that his father wasn''t a good man at all, he was a drinker, loved to abuse woman, did drugs and hurts people. She always remind him that whatever life had provided for him, he should be thankful and blame no one. She also often said that he must become a fine man, even down here in the street life, life not just for your sakes but other as well. When the boy asked who is others, the mother simply said she was one of the others and surely later on he too will have someone else. The boy just nodded and said nothing else, since he had his mothers he thought no one else was important. Countless time had his mother reminded him to help other if he can and befriend them, but the boy just nodded without saying anything, continuing his life, begging on the street for some sparse change or leftover food. His mother could only smile bitterly. To him all of that was enough but yet one day fate said otherwise. The fact that he had wasted the chance fate had given him...that day he regret it so much that previously, before his proclaimed father arrived, he hadn''t listened to his mother and interact with others. That day, was the disaster day that come for him and it arrive with such menacing that he could only tremble in fear. The day that separation comes. His father had found them. His father that his mother often told him to avoid at all cost had found them. Of course he didn''t recognize nor acknowledge such a man at first but it came back biting him and he was useless to confront that. Words of persuasions and compassion were utterly useless in front of him. The boy had then asked help from his surrounding, not only pleading he was also screaming the words, dwelling on it since it was his limit of capability yet no one came to his aid. The moment that his mothers disappeared from his sight was such a frightening moment, and yet he couldn''t do a thing, he had somewhat knew in his heart that perhaps it would be the last time he saw her. Even as he scream to take him with her, to use him whatever he wanted the man never turned back from the corner with his mother. He disappeared completely, dragging the boy''s mother with him as blood forming becoming a trail. Rain then poured down without caring, as if to speak the boy sadness. It pour down hard and then it stops, as if telling the boy all of it was an illusion. The trail of blood was too, erased, leaving nothing. He then proceed wanting to blame others yet he couldn''t. his mother voice would resounding his head, telling him that he must not, that he must hold on. Perhaps as it was the only thing left by his mother that he could held, he held it dearly in his hearts trying to redeem him self and hoping all of it was nothing but a dream. However such a thing was of course not enough. For a boy in his teens, where he only interact with his mother trough out his life, refusing others. It wasn''t enough. For his pillar of life was suddenly snatched from his hand, his right to lay his back on it was crushed. He had and wiled nothing now. He only had one thing, wielding it dearly all the time, and when it disappears, hollow followed to drawn the boy in emptiness. It was reflected in his eyes, that emptiness could very well be described by this boy. In his mind that scene repeated endlessly. The scene where his mother was taken from him, when the unknown man started to utters harsh words towards her, slapping her in between, choking her, tearing out her hair. Of course the boy hadn''t stayed silent at that time, he tried to take her back yet it wasn''t enough. He had never fight before, and if people had come and try to takes things from him, he just didn''t care so long it wasn''t his mother. He could get stamped on and on and he just stay silent and eventually those troublemakers get bored of him and leave him alone. They boy of course didn''t know that those troublemakers didn''t come to him alone but also towards his mother, his silent was killing her slowly yet he didn''t know. His mother was helplessly being used by those troublemakers to fend off their urge. they made her do anything they want and give nothing in return. His mother only wish was so that they will leave her son alone, and so they did. Out of honor to their perhaps or mostly because of boredom they did indeed leave the boy alone. **** Day had changed and the boy still hadn''t leave his original place. The wound on his head were miraculously closed. and when the sun comes down again, the life on his eyes could only grow thinner and dimmer. No one had talked to him this whole time, not even attempting to look at the boy miserable condition. The boy was still repeating that wretched endless scene in his head when someone had finally decided to shake his shoulder, shocking him hard enough to return his sense, yet he refused to answer. But then not long after a hand was aimed towards his cheek and with a slap, they boy was forced to answer his caller. " Where is you mother" they asked and the boy just stayed silent and suddenly cried ... If one was careful enough, one could saw a small light of hope lit and shine in his eyes. The boy had egoistically thought that perhaps asking this troublemakers could help him find and take back his mother. He then began blabbering words so fast that none of them could understand, well that was until someone decided to hit the boy and told him to speak slowly. Yet such a thing was denied again as they just simply left him behind after he answered that his mother was taken by someone who claimed to be her husband. However not long after they left, the boy who was still wishing it deeply in his heart, swearing whatever he could to change noticed the trouble makers coming back to him with smile. The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation. The light of hope was once again lit until the troublemakers began said their final crushing words. " Yo trash, you know why we left you alone ?" " Huh ?" answered the boy bewildered, what are they talking about he thought. Shouldn''t they instead focus on finding his mother he selfishly concluded. Why bother asking anything else ? " It aint boredom ya know ? It''s your mother request !" "..rr..re...request ?? mother ?" " Yeah but in turn we got her unconditional service ! AHAHAHAHA" suddenly they all laughed and one of them briefly whisper the other before one of them submitted while muttering "can''t be helped" and then they all faced the poor boy. " Ya know what we do ? we get her to do this ..this, even this !!! and of course not forgetting that" The group of troublemakers had decided to tell the boy the truth while showing the boy what they had done to his mother, one of them were acting as the female and the other act the male and started doing the things they had done towards his mother. Of course they didn''t do it seriously as they only wanted to have fun from his reaction ...but soon they got bored as he was just sat there, unmoving. They then mocked him a bit before finally leaving him behind. With kind hearth they too decided to left some prize for him as thanks in his mother place in the form of punching and kicking but they still quickly left him behind as they were truly bored from his reaction. They boy was of course shocked, shocked beyond belief to know the truth and then an endless self blame started going on and on in his head before he utterly become empty inside out... however all of that changed as the wind was blowing came to a sudden halt. The boy was of course still stayed silent as if he wasn''t there, but the surrounding environment weren''t as unkind as before, something change and they felt it, they felt the change and the chill that would come soon, so the beggars near him suddenly vanished from sight. Not long after a boy in his teens arrived there, although he was handsome and the surrounding scenery wasn''t something that could fit him very well, the boy still stride forward. A casual looking expensive black suit that he wore didn''t impede in his striding. In fact a big smile still accompanied him as he slowly proceed towards the boy, the poor boy that later he would be known as Basara. " Yo, finally found you." said the newly arrived boy, Kazama. No response was given though and Kazama decided easily on the spot to take the poor boy with him. " Come with me, this kind of place isn''t worth your life." said Kazama while he pulled the boy out of the dark alley towards the bustling road where an ambulance had mysteriously arrived waiting in advance. In fact if one had known, the ambulance was getting a fake call and come there before they were dejected that it was only a prank. Kazama though didn''t miss the chance as he felt the wind going towards them. He then tried to talk a few things towards the man that was in charge of the ambulance and they finally allowed Kazama to load the poor boy in and head towards the nearby Hospital. Life then had just getting better for the poor boy, He found a lifelong friend that he can treasure like what his mother told him, evenmore his friend Kazama decided that he too would willingly lend a hand in order for Basara to find his mother, such was the tale of Basura until today. " Fate was trully a myesterious things huh ..." " Heh Basura ... could it be... you, you didn''t listen my story did you ?" " Eh ..of course not it was the new adventure you plan to go right ?" " Such a vague answer, you think you can fool me hah ?" and the Kazama just went ahead and pinched basura in his cheeks, such thing would be weird for other people but not for this pair of lifelong friend. " Besides I know what you were thinkging about, must be the past right, stop being gloomy HAHAHA." " Ugh yes, I am sorry, now release my poor chee..auch !! Hey !" " Hahahaha I do release you, right ? and besides how many times I told you it wasn''t fate ! it was the wind !!" " Yes yes, whatever .." And so the pair chatted again until now, where the sun was almost at the horizon, and cold wind began to blew outside. It was coming from the ocean and as if to call him, Kazama notice it even inside the building. " Ah.. the wind is calling me " " Is it that time already ?" " Yes hahaha, I need to go now." " Is that so... alright becarefull ... I don''t want to visit you in the hospital again!" " what nonsense you were talking." The pair than quickly paid for their food and added some extra change for the restaurant. They indeed felt bad for staying so long. " Okay than Kazama see you around !" " Yes, see you around, as the wind calls me, I Kazama shall go" And with wush sound Kazama run like the wind. sometimes even Basara wonders why Kazama never got embarrassed saying those words, He wasn''t a kid anymore after all. The cold wind continued to blew harder and harder. Nearby the restaurant was a construction site that hadn''t finished being built yet. Some huge piece of steel was hanging in the machinery high in the sky, but then the cold wind draw nearer and finally touched the steel cable that was holding the steel piece in place. Suddenly the steel cable weakened its connection, perhaps fate wills it but the normally unimportant cold wind that could blew everywhere in this world manage to damage the steel cable and therefore made the steel plate fall freely. A man was standing bellow, he couldn''t notice the fall of such steel plate in this situation, where his shadow was behind him facing the other way and his mind was somewhere else, yet a certain man in the other side along with other passerby become hysteric and start shouting towards the man. The man wasn''t aware of such a thing , he became more oblivious to it as he focused his sight towards a certain young man that was running towards him, He thought why did he shout loudly and words run escaped his lips. Yet perhaps because he was dumb from the joyous moment a while ago and that numbed his mind and judgement capability resulting his failure to comprehend his friends warning and instead only takes it as a jokes. He also didn''t realize the fact that he was unable to hear nor move for a while, excepting the moment when he turned his head towards his friend calling that he was still able to hear at that time. It was as if something deliberately prevent him from doing so. Actually the fact was time stood still for him , and no one would be able to realize it, none including him. He was at the time perhaps only capable to think that his friend was just playing around. That his friend only wanted to gave him one more friendly hug before leaving, as he recall that it was one of their habits and they hadn''t done it before they parts. The result was for him just to stand there waiting for his friend Kazama and then not long after his conscious faded. ***** Not long before the accident happen Kazama, felt the wind that was blowing changed direction which he immodesty follow, the wind he felt was somehow telling him to run towards his friends and so he did, with all his might he turned back and ran towards his friend. He hadn''t felt this kind of wind before so he was a bit confused but nevertheless he still went ahead, following the wind. He had this felling of predicament yet he couldn''t really be sure. That was until the moment when he saw his friend, Basara. Wind was blowing cold from the other direction, bringing with it a large cold steel plate, it was directed towards his friends and when Kazama realized it ,he started to shout, he tried his best to warn his friend and yet his friends Basara just stood there smiling. BANG That was the sound of the steel plate hitting the ground, wrecking anything below it, the concrete were smacked so hard that the crack spread around it. The atmosphere then turned silent and Kazama fell to his knees, tears was in his eyes. He didn''t move for a while until the contractor of the building arrive shortly after. They hurriedly placed a barricade around the area where the steel plate fall down and started their attempt to lift up the steel plate or at least move it to somewhere safe. It was then that Kazama focused his eyes on someone who looks like he managed the project, Kazama then started running towards the man. He moved swiftly and he began to strangle the man, choking him while asking with desperation " What were you doing ! you killed my friend." Such words were repeated numerous times until one of the worker managed to separate the two, yet calmness was nowhere seen in Kazama eyes, the wind that normally felt comfortable around him was right now ragging beyond control. However it was calmed down suddenly when one of the worker told the man that manage them that there was no one under the steel palate, that it was clear of any object that could be recognized as human body parts, thus denying the report that someone was crushed bellow the steel plate. Of course the project manager hurriedly sighed , the panic that he had before had reduced to an extent that he can breath normally now. However the calm couldn''t be found on Kazama as he shouted and asked to be permitted seeing the accident place, and so they let him. " How can it be ...where is Basara ?" was what he said, he was sure that Basara was there as he saw it with his own very eyes, along with many others. It seems yet today was another mystery that being born, and soon it would follow its predecessor becoming an urban legend in the Lavorant port city. ******* Somewhere in the vast universe, in a world filled with wonders were a village. The sounds of stone getting cracked and tempered could be heard. It reverberate numerous times that it could gain anyone attention. The sound was actually coming from a certain building in a certain village and when it suddenly stopped, all face of the villagers turned towards the building, it became deadly silent. But the silent didn''t stay long as clear voice of someone shouting could be heard. " Chief it is a success, look !!! Someone or something is there." Chapter 1 : Summoned Being At the time when their hope finally arrived, the whole village cheers so hard that nearby adventure might mistakes there was some uncharted small town nearby. That was how joyful they were as they heard the word success. One also need to know that the village had only measly 100 villagers. So in order to be able to produce such noise would of course warrant such an attention. However for the adventures that were nearby they only grow suspicious. There were the possibility of their mishearing or illusion, after all such a thing wasn''t rare at all. But if they had triggered an illusion barrier that could cause such loud cheers filled with dread and desperation, they could only become more cautious. This had made them went farther from the noise origin. One of the basic teachings of the adventurer stated for any adventurers to evade any anomaly that have never been reported before, and if investigations become a priority, do it with utmost discretion. Getting back to the village, where they had thought such miracle had finally descended upon them. They grow quite quickly and instead of another cheering, they hurried gather in front of the temple where they await for the chief announcement. *** Inside the temple, there standing two man. One of them was the chief of the village, Baron and the other one was his aide, Humas. Baron and Humas was one of the most trusted people in this small village that still wasn''t named yet. They had not bothered to do such a thing after all if some accident happen, they will be forced to empty the village immediately. " So, Humas what do you find inside the summoning tablet stone ?" " This, this is really such joyous event for us chief." " Oh, to make you that happy, it must be extra ordinary." " Not only extraordinary chief, it seems we hit the jackpot." " Oh, is it beast type ? then we can hurry chain and bind it so it can protect our villages." " It isn''t beast type chief, it is humanoid type. Although I still can''t see it clearly but chief see it for yourself." " Alright, let me see ...Oh.. it is true, hurry hurry get it out of the stone tablet and bring him to the binding table." " Yes " And so Humas become more vigorous doing his works. Chipping the stone here and there without caution as he could already saw the image inside the summoning stone tablet. Inside it was a blurry image of Human that grow clearer and as if responding to the stone that was getting thinner and thinner, the inner membrane of the stone began beating harder and harder. finally the hammer that was thinning and crushing the outer layer of the stone managed to hit the true summoning membrane of the table, with *splosh* the membrane broke and the figure inside come slouching outside, sliding with sticky liquid around him. If Kazama from the other world saw this scene, he would immediately recognize the man that was covered with sticky liquid as his lifelong friend, Basura. But this was other world , and no one recognize him. " Hurry take him and bring him to the binding table, he can be dangerous, we need to bind him fast." " Yes , yes" Humas then quickly brought Basara towards the binding table. However when he triedt to grab Basara, he found his hand slowly but surely slipping from his grip. It wasn''t caused by the sticky liquid, It was Basara body. Humas felt as if he was holding something but wasn''t at the same time. " Chief ..this ....this." " What is it Humas ? Hurry don''t you fear if he gets out of control ?" " No chief, I can''t hold him ... we need mage !" " Mage ? what do you ...Oh could it be !" " It is a spirit chief ! a spirit !!" " AH ....ahahahahaha how can it be, we truly got a blessings from the heaven. Thank Vera !" Vera was known as goddess of harvest in this world. Many kind of god and goddess were worshiped in this world, Vera was just one of the many. Although not so dominant , many of those who worship Vera were small villages that hang their live on farming. " Let this old me handle it myself. I may not seems like it but in my young days I can use a bit of mana." " I hadn''t know that chief." " Of course you wouldn''t, you were just a brat at that time. now move aside." " Bra..y-yes chief." Humas seems bit dispirited when he was called a brat. Though he was no longer a brat, but perhaps he had some lingering regret when he was called a brat by his senior, the chief of the unnamed village. The chief Baron than hurriedly chant something and a light blue began to glow in his hand. He then proceed to hold Basara body, holding it with his arm in a princess carry style. This had shocked his aide. " Im-Impresive chief." " Shut up, let me concentrate." As Humas was scolded by his chief, he immediately became quite and chose to just watch the chief doing his job. The distance between the chief and the table was only measly three meters now and he had only moved about four steps from where Basara was yet Baron face was so pale. Sweats was pouring nonstop from his faces, his body trembled hard. The ground in which he had passed had grown noticeably wet. Baron right now looked like he had already ran a great distance and hadn''t eaten nor drink anything during that period. With such great difficulty the chief keep proceeding, striding forward, bringing Basara closer and closer towards the table. During this painful time his aide could only watch as the chief managed to finally put basara atop the binding table, he hurriedly draw closer and hold the chief body. " Leave the rest to me chief." " Go fast, before he wake up." Humas said nothing and proceed with the procedure. He began to tie Basara limbs to each of the summoning table corner with a prepared enchanted rope. When he was done, he began to pour some sort of yellow liquids towards the pre arranged diagram in the binding table. As if alive, the diagram began to absorb the liquid and started to redistribute it to the symbol that was scribbled in the table''s surface. It all happened so fast that to normal human it would be seen as an act of activating some sort of magic, well in fact it does start the act of activating some magic, a binding magic that is. Binding magic was popular in this world, tough for some reason it cannot be applied towards human species and its sub species, it can still be applied towards other things, including those that was called from a summon. The Summoning act itself didn''t necessarily bind the summoned creature towards its caster, as such binding techniques were developed. There were many kind of binding technique such as self imposed bind, forced bind or even an equal bind, also known as equal contract. Summoning can only be performed by those who had practiced the way of summoning and pledge them self to serve the God of Dimension, Aresta. Those who have pledged them self than was imposed a mission to spread their might and technique in this world. Most of other God or Goddess also bestow this kind of special ability for their followers, with similar mission to show the might of their technique, magic and mastery to the world, therefore increasing their influence and if it''s grow big enough their respective temple could easily change the state or balance between kingdoms and country. They can even influence the forming of a basic adventuring rule into taxes and even more. This all was done to bring the glory back to their respective temple that serve their God or Goddess. Because of this some of the temple often fought other for their supremacy, but such was controlled in an event called War of Emperia. It had complicated rules and timing so small squabbles still happen every now and then when their needs weren''t fulfilled. However overall it was just a small squabble and the general populace work together quite well. For the general populace, the act of pledging oneself towards a temple would also be known as gaining a class. Thus a summoner class was more popular for the populace to talk about and easy to recognize compared to servant of Aresta. Back to the preparation for binding magic, Humas had finned all the procedure leaving one aside. He now asked the permission of the chief before hurriedly and carefully prick his knife to the chief thumbs. Afterwards he hurriedly placed the blood in the summoning table, which in turn quickly disappear. This act was known as the final binding step, it introduce its master blood forcefully and imprinted it towards the target. Later one when the binding target awaken, they then would be forced to obey the master order. Although the exact things that happen was much more complicated, but to put it simply it makes the target recognize the blood that was imprinted onto them was their own parents for most case, or perhaps to be recognized immediately as one master. Such things occur differentially for each case but the majority did indeed made them obey the master compelty, since in some case the binding even forced immediate death when the bounded target disobey its master. The yellow light that was emitted from the binding table now grow dimmer and eventually disappeared. *Sigh* Both man that was present at the place felt save now and finally able to relax. " This was truly fortunate for us chief" " Yes it indeed does." " If the Summoner and his party at that time didn''t arrive in time urghh .." " True, we would have been forced to move again... " " It was only one summer since last we moved and some of our harvest haven''t bear anything yet. Just imagining that it get destroyed right before it rip destroy my mood quit badly chief ..." " Yeah, truly it was hard. We have no capable young nor old man anymore in our village, all of them was conscripted forcefully for the War of Emperia..." " Just what is our ruler thinking competing with one of the major Kingdom in this continent." " It must be greed, greed such a scary things, we need to be careful too .." " But chief, they take our men forcefully and even threaten to destroy our village and kidnap our residents, I can''t forgive them no matter what." " It is, but we are powerless ...if we had refused ...perhaps you and I wouldn''t be even here, our woman would be raped and sold. Our children would be killed." " But chief right now they should have already allowed our man to come back to the village, its been what ...1 season since the last War of Emperia... and they even lost too." Did you know this text is from a different site? Read the official version to support the creator. " That is precisely why they haven''t returned yet ..." " Do you mean that all of our man were killed in battle ?" " That is a possibility yet we mustn''t tell such a thing to the other alright ?" " uhh ...I really hate our ruler, he should just go die !" " Watch your tongue, you should be thankful at that time you were struck with disease and you couldn''t even move a muscle." " well chief, that was embarrassing for me, day by day I was being taken care off and I can''t do nothing for my family, especially my wife." " You can do that now, just stay safe. We are the only two healthy man left in this village, we must protect everyone here." The two continued to chat for a period of time. Both of them knew that everyone else had gathered in front of the temple, waiting for their news, but both of them were extremely tired. They also don''t want to leave the spirit they just bind alone, afraid if something goes wrong and the spirit rampaged about. The chief was the only one who was capable to stop the spirit after all, even it means killing the spirit with the binding magic. ***** They were obliviously new to the summoning business, their savior was only explaining briefly about what must be done before leaving after receiving their rewards from saving the village. At that time monster was attacking the village, their advance warning perimeter failed and panic spread quickly in the village. Luckily the summoner group were nearby and helped them. When they asked if the summoner and his groups would be willing to stay a bit longer in the village, they had blatantly refused. They said something about important mission and they can only help this much although after a few negotiations, their summoner willingly perform a summoning rift. The sight of the summoner doing the summoning magic was such a sight for the villager, as it was their first time. They had given the adventurer group what few gold they had left along with foods from their reserve that could only deplete thinner and thinner. They had also promised to allow the summoner to built the Aresta temple inside the village and the villager would willingly protect it. It would actually cost them time and energy if they were to do that, but in the end they still chose to accept it as the summoner told them it was important for the summoned creature to reside in the temple while recovering its energy. After the summoning was done, the stone that was being used to perform summoning magic need to be placed inside the temple too as they told the villagers that it would increase the chance in getting a good summoned creature. The summoner also told the villagers that it is important to bind the summoned creature as it could endanger the whole village. The chief just nodded at that word as he along with the other villagers were desperate to survive after the monster attack. The summoner than *kindly* form a binding diagram and imprinted it towards one of the sturdy table in the village, along with providing some enchanted ropes and adding some extra special liquid after some extra gold. He told them it was only one time use, so a failure was no option. When all of that was done, the summoner and his groups immediately leave the village. Until now all the villagers didn''t know the name of the adventurer and his group as they refuse to identify them self, since they are on special mission and afraid if someone else find the truth about them, it could disturb their mission. The chief at time actually hated the adventures group as he felt really uneasy about them. However he had no choice but just to obey them, after all what power he had to resist them ? In actually Baron the chief could no more be correct about the adventurer. The adventurer were the one who herded the monster towards the village after scouting the village. Determining the value of the village and the strength of the populace within, they aggroed the nearby pack of monster towards the village, only to appear a bit late as to make the situation more dramatic. They had actually hold their laugh all the time during their stay in the village. They really wanted to actually kidnap the girls there and just run amok, but it was also true that they were on mission. Such thing could attract the unwanted attention of other righteous adventurer, thus rendering their mission, making it unnecessarily harder. They then decided to agro the monster nearby to ransack the village and become their hero. Their plan was to save the villagers and earn some extra money. But then they were surprised that the villagers had actually not officially served any God or Goddess, This can be assured when they couldn''t found any Vera temple that was common in small village. They smile happily and so they take the rare chance to introduce their leader God Aresta there and *kindly* told the villagers to serve their leader God. Making a temple there and force the villager to serve and protect the temple. This would automatically increase their merit when they report it later. Their main temple could just run some simple magic to verify the truth and ascertain that the temple wasn''t just placed randomly but among populace and it was getting cared. The summoning act they had done was true though, it wasn''t falsified at all since at last they need a degree of trust for the villager if they really want to protect and serve the temple in their village. However the quality of the summoning magic and binding magic was scarified as they won''t bother to use expensive ingredient here nowhere in the forest in the small village. Summoning inside stone was perhaps one of the most ancient method with the rate of powerful, intelligent summoned creature success so low that almost willing to do it as a method to get their hands on a reliable summoned creature. Most summoner prefer other medium that won''t hinder their summoned creature therefore granting immediate consciousness after a summoning rite was performed and they can immediately be used in battle. Imagine summoning a creature inside a stone that you need to care and prick for a very long time to safely deliver the creature inside it. Such a roundabout way was very unpopular for summoner class, although since it seems uncomfortable to do, the summoner temple had made summoning magic using stone as medium as one of the basic. They even made it a standard passing grade for novice summoner. As for the binding magic ? it was only scribbled lightly a top of one random thick wooden table they had found inside the village. The special liquid that Humas was carefully using was in fact a simple water with added coloring dew and mana. The strength of the binding magic was actually really low completed with a low success rate of binding since the condition that was applied to set it up was really high, such as absolute command, unlimited summoning time allowing the creature had the ability to reside in this world and not to forgot the most important function which is immediate death when master order was refused. This of course had to be done to appease the villagers. Just what can one expect from summoning performed with a stone, a random table, water and measly amount of mana. However all of this were a secret that the villager did not know. After the negotiation was done, the summoner and his group smirked and laugh a lot in their hearts. However they tried hard to keep their act hidden and chose to hurriedly leave the village. But after all had happen, their deeds was done and they moved away from the village while feeling as if they had win and achieve a major accomplishment. They didn''t expect that their measly method had managed to summon one of the rare being in Bumi. Their method had in fact managed a spirit, an intelligent befitting it appearances. 3 hours passed by and the crowd outside began to grow impatient, and finally they decided to leave and return to their works when a flash of blinding light flashed inside the temple, and the embarrassing building called temple was destroyed. With massive boom sound the building wooden wall crumbled, the roof flew good distance away from the impact produced inside the building. However strangely the villagers didn''t panic at all and instead looking awed at the sight of a man, or perhaps in this world know as spirit flew, staggering the air while holding his head and when he moved his lips a strange melodic sound flow, reverberated around the surrounding, calming the onlookers around him. He said " This ... Wh-where am I ?" *** A moment before the spirit Basara awaken, the two man inside temple were surprised at the trembling air they felt around them. The tables behind them began to crack and the diagram that was drawn atop of it began to disappear, leaving only a small bit of it behind. If the summoner were still here then he could recognize that his rule was abruptly erased from existence, leaving only small part behind. The flash then grow brighter until a huge destructive sound was let out and they could only hide and cower below the table that was cracking and crumbling. *Bing* *Bing* *Bing* sounded endlessly in the chief head until it finally stopped and when he remembered what he was supposed to do he said " Open Notification"

____________ hope this can perks up some interest in this story as I am but a novice writer, thank you for reading. Ch 2 Life Begin " No! How can this be !" look of despair now filed Baron face. He never had suspected that the lack of confirmation from the magic system was caused by the failure in binding magic. At that time perhaps he was too happy, feelings too much joy caused by the stroke of luck he had after many misfortune that befallen unto him and his villagers. Numb was his sense of wariness, the cleverness that supposedly always carried by an elder, even more those who held the position of chief wasn''t there at the time he truly needs. Perish the calm and wise visage that he always held. Even when his villages was breached and attacked by wild monster or when his village was forced to submission by the state couldn''t bring him to this state. Of course all of it was justified in his mind. He was so blinded by his own greed. He was blinded by the bait that was set up, dangling in front of his eyes. The bait that held the chance, very small chance that his village could obtain a formidable tools to protect itself. Unexpectedly it was a success and without thinking he grab it, bringing the entire village into potential demise. If his village was attacked by monster, than to some extent they can defend them self even if they are forced to flee and many were killed. If they were attacked by a state or bandits and was forced into submission, they will bow down without remorse, like the grass that follow where the winds blows. However all of that were different compared to the might of rampaging spirit. One of those being could ransack and destroy a whole city easily. Of course provided there was no resistance, but what kind of resistance needed to match the might of spirit ? The spirit that was hovering in front him was even more dreadful then common spirit that tale often tells. Its body was clear and firm structure yet it still managed to force someone to use mana to move him. Its body also clearly had mass and matters yet it is also hollow, such was the categorization of being that can till the balance between states. Yet even after all of that, he blindly fall to his greed. Releasing such being freely into this world without control. The crude method that he believed he had used to summon and bind the spirit could worsen the danger. The spirit was forcefully summoned without its consent resulting the potential rouse of anger from the spirit. He had no option left now, only giving up. " Ahhh ... what I have done." " Seto I am sorry i couldn''t keep my promise to keep your daughter safe...Rema I am sorry I betrayed your trust to protect your familiy ..." Baron keep mumbling since then and the voice that carried the meaning become weaker with each sentence. He truly regretted his decision and could only wait what faith decided upon his villages. They didn''t even have nor prepare anything that could appease the spirit to calm his anger. Truly foolish ... " Chief ! Chief get a hold of yourself !" Beside the chief was his loyal aide. Seeing the chief condition worsened, the fear that was creeping inside himself was forcefully sealed. Courage began to flow in his blood, affecting his movement and body condition. The taters of teeth he had unconsciously produced was now gone. Flame of courage was lit in his eyes as he tried to help the chief. " Chief, you can use that ! just use the command to kill the spirit !" Perhaps out of foolishness or naivety he finally managed get hold of the chief as the chief just nodded and replied. " you are right, even if it''s useless, we have to try." Baron then began to chant, earnestly trying to reproduce what the summoner had tought him. His mouth mumbled unclear words for a period until his eyes shined, believing with everything he had and continuing the chant more carefully as to not makes any mistake. " Imperia Suicido !!! " Baron had finished his chant and shouted the spell name, it was designed to kill the bounded target immediately, as the master final command. Sweat was pouring so much from his body as he look upwards. He waited patiently for the moment the spell take effect, every second feels like days passed by. one, two, five second passed and nothing happened. " we are doomed ..." was the word that slipped out of his mouth as he believed it was his last moment being alive. *** " This ... Wh-where am I ?" Huh what happened ? I remember I was in harbor city and was waiting for someone... Oh I was waiting for Kazuma but where am I now ? There are many crude building around me. How come there are many trees around me ? What''s wrong with those people in front of me ... moment ago I recall they were awed by something and now only despair and dread filled their face. ughhh I don''t like this, it reminds me of my past. Such questions filled Basara head. He hadn''t realized that he was summoned to different world, completely unrelated to his previous world. He even didn''t realize that he was nude as his clothes slipped through him when he was in the inner membrane of the summoning stone nor the fact that right now he was hovering the air. Fear, Despair along with chaotic outlandish words filled the area around Basara, making him grew more confused and as the feelings of discomfort, restless climbed up in his hearts. He tried to look around only to find remote excuses of houses along with some flat lands with what appears to be plants growing on it. Looking up a bit further and he could only see a crude excuse of street or perhaps paths made out of dirt and stones. It went all the way into the woods that spread, surrounding him. He hadn''t recognized the oddity that he was able to see that far ahead. If only he wasn''t in confused state surely everything would went better for him, but the condition he was in right now was far from comfortable as his minds was still bit dizzy. " Imperia Suicido !!! " Suddenly Basara heard clear voice that was filled with desperation. It came from a man below him that was still looking at him. The man sights wander not from Basara eyes for a few second until suddenly the man said something and as is giving up stumbled to the ground. Sweat was clearly pouring for his body and the pale face he had worried Basara. Out of kindness Basara then tried to walk towards the man only to realize he wasn''t able to proceed smoothly. He began to lost control of his body and as if fallings he could only follow the gravity that pulled him. '' fallings ?'' Only now Basara realized it and began to panic as his direction of falling was precisely the man that he was worried about moments ago. He didn''t want to injure the man after all, so he tried to move frantically trying to grab something. Basara tried his best to avoid colliding with the man that he thought wouldn''t realize the predicament that coming towards him as the man was looking downwards while complety. As Basara was too busy to pay any heed for the other man that was standing not far from the crouching man, he had ignored him completely. *** In the same time, after the chief finished his chant, Humas also focused his sight towards the spirit. He stayed silent all the time until his chief gave up and began to slid his body down, falling to the ground. However at this time Humas could care less about the chief as he still focused his eyes on the spirit. He was planning to attack the spirit with all the power he had, even if its mean death had the spirit decided to come down to finish his chef. No matter how unbright he was, he still realized that if the chief failed to subdue the spirit, only doom would follow shortly after. He waited and waited until the spirit suddenly moved down, unknown to him was the fact that the spirit that he fear so much was fallings after losing control of its body. He prepared himself to jump and shield the chief. He hadn''t the slight of thought that the spirit can evade him easily bypassing his body. However all of his plan and determination was useless as the speed of the spirit fallings was unreasonable. The spirit was fallings so fast as in the blink of eye it had arrived on the ground, where the chief was. All Humas could do was to follow the spirit movement with his eyes and nothing more. *Bam * Dust scattered from the impact caused by the spirit falls. Wood debris also was pushed a bit from the site of impact. " Chief !" Humas shouted full of worry. As the dust began to clear up and situation became more vivid, two shadow was clearly shown. One was crouching and the other one was laying down. Humas dare not to move all this time. He then saw as the spirit lift his body up, looking left and right. It even began to touch its own body before finally moved its head towards the unconscious chief on the ground. As if suddenly coming back to its sense the spirit tried to shock the chief body. It then turned the chief body, making the chief''s back lay on the ground before the spirit moved its head towards the chief chest, sticking its ear on it. Not long after the spirit sat down and sighed as if it was relieved of something. Humas still didn''t dare to move at all, he could only watch as the spirit was now trying to lift the chief body with its hands, much like when the chief tried to move the spirit body towards the binding table before. Surprisingly the spirit was able to touch the chief body and began to lift him up only stopping mid way. It seems the spirit began to realize that the chief body it had tried to carry was slipping from its hand, falling back down to the ground. The spirit then tried again and again, confused why it cannot lift the chief body until the spirit gave up and turned towards the standing man, Humas. The spirit mentioned with hand gesture for Humas to comes closer while speaking something. At this time Humas did indeed move closer, with a hint of fear shined on his eyes. In Humas hearts, he was really glad that chief was fine and the spirit seems didn''t want to hurts anyone. Once the spirit mentioned for him to come closer with hand gesture while speaking something, all Humas could heard was the strange melodic sound that gave him the sense of calmness. *** Three days had passed since Basara was summoned to this world that was known as Bumi. He had tried hard during his stay all this time to comprehend the language in this world. He had learned that this village had no name, and the chief was named Baron while his aide was Humas. He hadn''t really comes to term that he was summoned though, even when he was shown the site of his summon, which was obliviously destroyed by his awakening but he did tried to apologize to the chief, however he got no response back, as the chief and his aide was confused by his gesture. '' Yuck'' He though as he remembered the scene again when Humas tried to imitate what happened to him as he was summoned. living inside stone ? sliding down the strange liquid ? such things disturb Basra more than he realize. He then began counting the things that he had already understand about this world after interacting with the residents of this village. Apparently he was what they call "Sei". Although he really don''t understand what it mean, he could only accept it as what it is. All this time of course Basara could only speak with gesture language with much difficulty. beside that Basara also began to learn few things here and there about the village language. He learned what is hungry, food, water and toilet in their language. It was such a painstaking activity for him when he wants to go to the toilet for the first time. Gesturing it was embarrassing enough but what was more embarrassing was the village was filled with girls from young to old, with no man outside the village chief and his aide. Unfortunately at that time, the chief was away with his aide leaving him behind in the destroyed temple that was quickly rebuilt with woods and heap of leave. It become some short of shacks but he could still easily accept it seeing the condition the rest of the village had. He of course wouldn''t want to intrude the chief or his aide homes. Living with other woman in the village alone was also out of question and besides he get the feelings that the woman in the village nigh to worship him or at least treat him with the utmost respect making it more uncomfortable. After the problem of toilet was solved as he was shown the way to the sacks near the river, he returned back to the village only to find chief along his aide began questioning him with gesture. Apparently the " Sei" that they knew didn''t defecate. The next day when he was finally feeling more comfortable, sudden hunger and thirst striked him hard. Although this time he was able to explain it fairly easy compared to the toilet he had asked before. Well Basara thought that it was normal since he defecate but what didn''t come to his mind was yesterday he hadn''t felt hungry nor thirsty at all. In the second day after he was finished with his food, Basara spent his time trying to interact as much as possible with the villagers since he felt he had wasted the first day only trying to make himself comfortable with the surrounding. Bug bites and such things didn''t bother him at all compared to what the villagers had experienced during the night, and he was even able to sleep soundlessly. Besides that he began to realized the horrible situation the village was in, despite the smile that were always worn by the villagers. Night full was of howling beast, who can calm down with that yet the villagers could. Food was scarce, so scarce that the village chief distribute it carefully to the extent of grains. The villagers here ate what resemble to be rice from Basara words, though it taste way worse almost bitter. Still he had no choice and he needed to respect those who feed him too. Royal Road is the home of this novel. Visit there to read the original and support the author.Beside the rice what was worth mentioning was Basara likings to the fruits served, as he even asked seconds for that. He hadn''t realized that such fruit was a lavish for this village yet he without restraint ate a lot of it. The other villagers seeing him ate the fruit happily just gave him a kind looks, akin to what servant feels with her beloved master ate their food with much comfort. However until now, the third day he still deeply regretted that. He was so stupid and he accepted that as a fact. Basara was uneducated after all in the previous word. If not for his friend Kazama, he would be dead or perhaps at best still begging somewhere. He had worked at various place during those two years after the accident. Starting helping in the harbor, farms, even packaging company that helped moving household matters. From that he began to open his heart slowly but surely, his dark past becoming blurred as it was slowly corroded by the happy moments he had, though he was still missing his mother presence he had already learned to live without her. It was really harsh but he still managed with Kazama random presence every now and then encouraging him. Kazama was after all fairly busy, being so young yet had already managed a company he had made on his own. If he wasn''t working then he will be adventuring as the wind called him he said. Even so he still managed to provide time that he could happily spent with Basara. Kazama was an orphan, tough with his current foster parents he felt happy, but to such an extent he could still comprehend what Basara had went trough. With such background and character, it was no wonder that Kazama managed to stole a place in Basara frozen and empty hearts. " Ah ... I slipped again, too much worry is useless ! just do what I can, right Kazama ?" As is answering the wind immediately blew , passing his hair and ears as if answering his call and answered. Such roman he thought after remembering his friend Kazama was always chasing after the winds. **** It''s been a week now since I, Basara live here in the nameless village. There was one big chance though during this time. This village had finally claimed a name. It was now called Okami. As what the name implied I had no idea what so ever. Today, the cloud was gathering in the sky. It lost the vivid blue color it usually had as only little bit of light could penetrate it. Speaking about the sky, Bumi was a strange planet for myself. During the first night, we had one moon. It appearance was similar with the yellowish moon in earth. But during the second night I saw two moon, one yellow and the other was purple. The third nights comes and I saw only one moon, this time the purple one. Next night It become two again and then then becoming one again showing the yellow moon that was similar in earth. such cycle continues until now. " Strange indeed" I muttered but I have no explanation about this. I also strangely felt quite comfortable with this situation where I didn''t even know the length of a day. All the villagers did was work in the morning and when the sun hung high in the sky they all stopped working and come back to the village. They then began their indoor activity such as sewing, arranging herbs and heap of leafs. As I pay more attention to them they usually stopped working and chose to try to interact with me, even if I stayed silent they will just stay silent while looking at my direction, waiting and waiting... If that happens I usually gestured them continue with whatever they were doing and be a good boy. Coming back to my shacks, to be more precise in the shack''s roof sitting down, lazing around seeing they work. At one time I tried hard to help them with whatever I could do, but they refused it. And when they allowed it for shortest bit of time, I fail. Everything passed through me if I held them with my hands to long, even though I could stand in the ground and sleep just fine. " Uhhh .. I actually had hoped this situation happen before in my world, lazing around all day." " But doing nothing for a week feels so boring !" I wonder perhaps Kazama had influenced me too much ? I started to hate being idle all day and becoming someone who was more outgoing. I was a beggar before, comply with whatever I got for free, yet now I saw almost no trace of that beside the shack I got with me now perhaps. " hahahaha" I suddenly laughed as I began to realize silly things about myself. No one here paid attention though since it wasn''t a rare occurrence anymore. Just what can one help from being bored with nothing to do and no one to talk with. Even small girls had their own job as weeding the ground or helping to prepare the fire used for cooking, gathering branches from the nearby woods. However one thing for sure was that my mother advice influence my rapid progression. I etched my mother advice deeply in my heart. It my sole memento from my mother and I don''t even know if I could got the chance to meet her again. The sun now were already near the horizon, the temperature now dropped, making the air colder and the woman in the villages hurriedly finished their works. Some even alraedy began to light the fire in the middle of the village. Yes, this village had a custom to cook and eat together in the middle of the village every day. I was really surprised at first that it wasn''t an event and apparently everyone in this village were as close as family. I kind of envy this environment too but I could do nothing about it, If I tried to join the circle suddenly they will just become silent and then gave me too much reverence. I could only sat with the chief, his aide and their family. However I haven''t give up as lately I could communicate better with younger girl. I had managed to form something akin to friendship to the group of young girl that was tasked to gather branches. At first they were somewhat afraid but lately they begin to open them self towards me. They even loved it when I started talking with my voice instead of gesture and for a long time at that. Some of them did fall asleep, but most were enjoying them self with thier eyes closed as I began telling tales in my word that was popular for children. I admit that the books that Kazama lent to me for learning words was only children books, however I was fond of them so I don''t really care. Back to the children who eagerly spent their evening with me after they finished gathering their braches. They seemed to enjoy their self so much that few of them closed their eyes when they listen to my story. Some started to move their limbs over and over again, rocking their body softly as if following the flow of my story. I kind of wondered whether they truly listen to my story or there listening someone singing ? I understand that they understand nothing about my story but .... Actually I had no experience about this kind of things so I could again only accept it as the culture of this world. I had to admit too that in earth I didn''t interact much with young people. I had my time spent on studying, visiting some physiatry and working with older people. Nothing else, as when I relaxed a bit I began to felt dread that creeping inside my body and the scene that I hate would rewind countless time. Well now, while I wait the young girl to gather in our usual spot, I began to wonder How is Kazama doing ? I wasn''t realy close with anyone outside him in earth but I think he was fine, The wind is with him and surely he would somehow know about my well being. I sincerely that he stays healthy and happy. This time in this world I had promised myself that I wouldn''t gave up to live my life. Thought of returning were almost never appeared as I focused myself to do much better in this word compared to my old. I would of course lied if I didn''t miss it or want to have the chance to return, but as of now it wasn''t my priory. Surviving while enjoying my life had become my number one priority...truly Kazama style if I had to say myself. *Chatter chatter* *laughs* Oh it seems they are here now, what should I tell them today hmm ? *** In the hill far from the village of Okami, a group of adventures was seen fleeing. Their expression were pale clearly indicating their tiredness from escaping for no one knows how many days. " Alex, it''s been three days. Are you the goblin still followed us hehehe ?" " Shut up and just concentrate on fleeing !" " Hey! It was your fault that we were late, stopping in that village and getting extra money and merit you say pssh RUBISH !" " You, it was your idea ! dare say that again and I will feed you to my flame Boar." " Both of you be quite, we had lost 3 of our man and you still bickering ?" " Ow ow scarry." " Alex can you summon higher elemental beast to distract our pursuers ?" " Hmmph If I can , we wouldn''t be fleeing like this !" " Haha how useless can you be Alex ? the so called mighty summoner from prestigous family was only this much." " HAHAHAHA, at least I am way better than you thief class with no fighting capabilities and weak mind !" " Pshhhh, think better words if you truly want to annoy me Alex, such words caries no power for us thief class hehehe, in fact I considered your words as compliment." " Stop it you two, or else I will just use windrun and leave you two behind ..." " Yesssss Izaaaa the Maestroo of wind magic." " I take your silent as agreement Alex ?" " Right.." " Lemran, do you have any pre arranged trap that can slow our pursuers down ?" " Hmm traps... I didn''t really prepared anything that can hinder such massive amount of pursuers behind us but I still had one option left that might work." " Continue." " Remember the ol little village we had passed few days ago ?" " The one that Alex scammed ?" " Hey it is not scam ! I am helping them kindly, they should have been glorified as a mighty summoner like me even bother walking in their village." " Continue Lemran, don''t worry about Alex." " We can just pass our pursuers to them right ?" " You mean like what you did when you aggroed the pack of monster before ?" " Yep , smart of you Iza, that''s why I stick with you." " I don''t need the flattery, what are the odds of us surviving ?" " About eighty percent i think if the village didn''t attack us " " Hmm fine, we go that way, you lead us." " Ohhh leading, what will be my rewards ?" " Piece of ruby and fifty emeralds ?" " Deal, and since you are so kind, I will personally aggro the angry goblin behind us towards the village. If we are lucky in the chaos we could kill the Goblin leader and earn huge sum of money." " Our mission to survive and deliver the items takes priority, don''t mess up." " Hahaha don''t worry about me, just worry about my rewards." " Alright, I am counting on you, Alex you understand." " Fine !" " Good, now move Lamren." " Alright, we bait em hard now !" And so the three proceed fleeing towards the Okami vilage. They wanted to dump this group of crazy pursuers to the villagers. If luck was there perhaps even taking out the Goblin leader wouldn''t be impossible and getting its unique crystal back to be reimbursed with high profit was also a delicious offer that hard to pass by. The group of this adventure didn''t really care about the village well being as their mission clearly stated to take the items they had successfully acquired back to the summoning temple with whatever method along the safety of Alex. Of course the item come fist but even so both were important. Alex was the offical group leader however in the way it had actually shifted to Iza and his calm judgment and temper. The group started adventuring as six people while Alex acted as their employer and leader however since the leadership changed, Alex had made a few deals with Iza regarding the rewards so there was visibly no problem. It was all actually caused by Alex personality being too prideful and couldn''t adapt well with the team members outside Iza. It end up obstructing the success of the mission, example was their side trip to the village. Iza didn''t particularly agree at that time but since the leader wasn''t him at that time, he had no power to change the course. However right now Iza didn''t care such a thing, he wasn''t a righteous man that would do everything with justice as his banner. Iza was someone who would do anything for a shot towards success, although he would also calculate hard enough to sacrifice people as few as possible. It could moreover affect his image and making it harder for him to climb the rank in the guild . On the other hand there was also Lemran with his shrewd personality. He live with greed as his companion and he was actually the reason for the group detour. He had managed to affect Alex decision and baited him with greed and merits which was a success. Right now in Okuma village, no one was aware of this impeding threat that grow nearer and nearer each day. The group of adventure that would bring disaster was coming to their village, while their pursuer had grown bigger as the Goblin leader unexpectedly gained a passive skill called Orc Enslavement. It resulted the Goblin pursuer to grow in number as some lone orc was forced to submission and joined their ranks. ____________ Thank you for reading, If you notice any mistakes please point it out as I need it to learn and become a better writter :) Chapter 3 : Brewing Trouble Already ? Heyaa !, Thank you for reading thus far. Please help me by commenting and giving me some feedback. This one is long, perhaps worth 2 chapter. Anyway I am off having a break. See ya around :) ------------------- "Hoaam" It was midday in Okami vilage, there a certain spirit was seen lazing around atop of his house, or to be precise his shack. The spirit had the appearance of young man, around 18 years old with no mustache nor beards. He was what can one consider as the mascot of the village, loved by everyone who live there. There were several reason as to why he got the special treatment there. One of them was being a sole lone male, at the very least he was still considered somehow humanoid. The presence of male was severely lacking in this village. His fresh presence had helped the village younger generation to gain more vitality during their daily activity. As for the older generation, they had seen the spirit as their kindred family. T he spirit who Gorilla the name of Basara was summoned not long ago from other world, to be precise it was 8 days ago. When he first made his appearance, the whole village was filled with both joy, awe and fear. Joy of gaining a new possible ally, awe for the grandiose entrance along with the display of his might and lastly the fear if that very might was turned on them. There was also one more thing that the villagers forgot as the spirit make his its appearance. They had only managed to remember it after everything was settled and the spirit disappeared from their sight, along with the chief and his aide. It was the fact that the spirit was bare naked, bashed with nature and wind that make him shine while also sometimes glimmered as the cloud shade him from the sun. That situation last until the second day until the chief cameback from his business and brought back a black long robe that could cover the spirit elegant body without passing trough. The robe also somehow managed to suppress the grand aura that the spirit always emanating since his awakening. His lustrous green smooth long hair was covered to an extent it doesn''t reflect the bright of the sun anymore. His jewel like shining green eyes were also affected, dimming the light it radiate. Toned body along with adorned mild muscle that barely fall under the slender category, the spirit had managed to steal the glance of almost everyone in the village, man and woman, young and old. The spirit itself also was surprised at his own body after seeing his own reflection on the water surface in the river. He didn''t become handsome nor pretty, in fact his face was similar with what he had previously. However, the aura that he had right now was vastly different from before, like diamond in the mud that had its dirt washed away. The spirit itself also rarely come out on the first day when he was still naked, seeming minding his own nakedness. The village younger girl, those who were still single below the age of twenty couldn''t really sleep well at night. The image that was recorded on their memories would often reoccur and prevented them from sleeping. In fact the sole reason the spirit was still unable to interact that well with the girls around his age were because of the scene that happened at day one. Basara of course could interact freely with those who already had that kind of experience and those who hadn''t the slightest thought about that which is precisely the older and younger generation. As general situation in this world, noble aside and few special race. Humans generally were already married at the age below 16, so long that their body could already reproduce. This was made common because the rate of death was so high that if mankind were to take their time too long to reproduce, they would only be outnumbered by other races and monster. Endangering their own well being. Even more important was the death rate of men in this world. They were the one that mainly tasked to obliterate any invasion, defending any vital area from monsters attack or participating in war. The woman role was those that not less important than the men, as survival didn''t depend on kill or be killed rule alone. They need to farm both in land and sea, forage any food that could be found in their perimeter, hunt monster or animal that were deemed save by the majority of guilds and finally taking care of their children that will Gorilla the fate of humankind in the next generation. Victims were at large, Mainly from the population that grow farther and farther away from the main city. The city which had the blessings of medicine, knowledge that were abundant were saver than other pats of the world for humankind. Stability and education to make life better normally could only be acquired here. Because the rate and difference between man and woman, polygamy was the norm here, saving those from certain race. Woman also in general was seen as disposable and had lower standing compared to man, even those that had the standing of nobility. Truly this was a harsh time to live as woman, yet some race and state that had different view also exist. However since information was so limited, such knowledge rarely would get the chance to spread. There were also the case that when the woman had the means and strength, the men could only envy them in their hearts without doing anything. Such was the current cultures in most of the state in Bumi. Female adventure with various class and skills began to emerge from every races. Goddess were also becoming more respected way more from before. Example were the Goddess of harvest, Vera. She was rarely worshiped around hundred years ago but right now it was as common as the field used to farm. However no matter how strong the new wind blew, there will always rejection. Hundred Thousand years of custom were struck with this new custom, how can it shake ? Like a massive tree that was deeply rotted into the ground, standing strong for countless years, how could it be affected with the stroke of a newly formed grass that grew beside it ? Certainly our beloved spirit, Basara didn''t know all this. He had only lived here for a short period of time. Interacting with the locals was already a challenge for him, how could he know all of this. He would of course had some repulsive feelings had he know how this world works, but such thing would require time and experience to accept. *** It was now the ninth day, the village was strangely busy in the morning. This had piqued Basara interest. He then went out of shack, eyeing a group of villagers that was heading out from the village from the western gate of the village. Basara had seen this group were mainly composed of mature women, majority being around thirty years old while some young girls also tagging along. Each person carried their own armament with majority carried spears and bows. From this sight alone and with what they also pulled behind them , which was empty carts, Basara could guess where they were heading. Of course Basara wouldn''t let this chance go and he quickly left his shack, running towards them. With almost no sound, Basara managed to cross the distance quite fast. Had others seen him running, they would describe him as flowing with the winds, rather than running crossing the winds. " All ready ? none left behind ?" " All here Merusa." " Then began counting and make sure we return back with the exact number." "one,two... fourteen, fiveteen." " Sei, Sixteen !" Suddenly out of nowhere Basara had joined their conversation. This had surprised most of them, including Merusa, the group leader with years of experience in detecting presence and hunting. However since the sound which suddenly joined them was familiar, bringing such calmness and joy, they immediately recognize the owner and turned their head towards Merusa. Merusa, being thirty six years old with much experience in the forest both as forager and hunter were now thrown with many silent pleads to allow their ''Sei'' join them. Such occurrence weren''t rare anymore in the village, their ''Sei'' which they had seen as whimsical being often joined them during their activity out of nowhere and suddenly leaving after doing some gesture to continue their work. In actually, when all of them interact with their ''Sei'', no one really feels they were disrupted. Rather they were happy to an extent they willingly stopped their work and chose to stay silent, pleasing and adjourning their ''sei'' with whatever he wishes. It was of course counter initiative to what their ''Sei'' substantively wanted. However this time was different, this time life could be put in danger. Hunting and foraging weren''t a novice job which anyone can do. Training and experience were vital, so brining an extra person could potentially risk their safety, so rarely they would be willing to take an extra person during their hunts. This time though, it was a special case, who was asking them to tag along ? It was their ''Sei''. A mighty being that they believe to be the protector of the village. Merusa was no different, although she had plenty of experience and high amount of dexterity, managed to successfully completed numerous hunt, she herself felt far inferior compared to their ''Sei'' Basara. However how could they know their savior was even more novice and clueless compared to the young girl that was tagging along. " What''s with that looks ? Do I dare to even refuse his request ?" At that instant the group was full of smile, even the nervous youngest girl Anya calmed herself down. " Anya, you are so lucky, our Sei want to accompany us in this journey." " Hihihi." To this Anya could only smile, her aunt had secretly teased her. She herself of course was aware that that her nervousness had disappeared and this had slightly annoyed her aunt. She was only 11 years old but in this village, being cultivated during young age was a custom. No one had the right to only idle around outside those who were disabled and sick. She was no exception, and originally her interest to join hunting was piqued by her aunt. She had been training archery since she was nine years old. Her aunt was her personal instructor, her aunt tales during hunt often intrigued her to such an extent that stars could be seen her eyes. Outside archery training, finesse to handle dagger was also important. After all Skinning a bait or hunted prize required dagger mastery to a certain degree. Knowledge about the danger in forest along with many creatures that dwell in it was also imprinted into her head and much more. However no matter how prepared you are and trained you are, the real things will always be different, thus her nervousness was a normal things. " Anya, if you are too scared, you can stick close with the ''Sei'' "Ooo hehehe, Yay~" she then suddenly move towards the Sei which was still wondering whether he was allowed to join or not when suddenly Anya grabbed his robe and tighten her hands around it. Happily she clinging around him and said " Master Sei~, please protect me~ " " ????? " Basara was full of question now whereas the other younger girl in the group stare at Anya full of jealousy. So far none of the female in the village dare to act closely and merrily with Basara like this, as such Basara was confused unable to understand a thing ... *** '' Uhhh this is so tiring walling non stop wth this rough terain ...'' ''I thought it would be an easy journey, went out a bit and before sunset we would have been back in the village, preparing the dinner together and I can brag with the others.'' Such thing clouded Anya minds. Anya being an only child never had truly experienced hardship in the village. Although she had never met her mother when she was young, she had still been showered with enough love from her father and his mother''s sister, Merusa. She was being doted by her father so hard that she was envied by a lot of her friends. The village back than was larger than it was right now, naturally she had much more friends. She was such a spoiled child at that time and only know to have her wants fulfilled. She would cry and whimper nonstop if she didn''t get what she wants. Although normally such treatment would result in overly dependent children with not so much maturity, Anya was different. What she truly wants was to have her dead Mother to be alive and dote her since she felt no matter what, a mother can''t be replaced. There exist that single spot empty in her hearts that no one able to fulfill, not even her beloved aunt who showered her with loves. As such the whimpering and cry she had done was merely a distraction for herself. Although She understand that was impossible however ever since she had seen her friends playing with their father and mother she began to crave more for her wishes. Luckily Anya was also bestowed with kind hearts along with cleverness, she was even more exceptional in reading situations, capable to feel what other tried to hide if they weren''t careful. Her Aunt showered Anya a lot of loves like what a mother did to their children and Anya could accept it as she was being compassionate towards her out of her relation with Anya''s mother, however one day Anya realized something else. Her aunt had slowly grow to love her unconditionally, like a mother should towards their daughter. Anya though stubbornly refused her. Inside her hearts there was an empty place that should have been filled with his mother love, yet now someone else although still blood related, tried to snatch that spot. Anya had seen how close her friends towards their mother, seeing this huge envy was born in Anya hearts. Such a strong desire and envy prevents her from accepting her Aunt advances. Such thing was going on for years until Anya was seven years old. As she grow older, so does her wisdom. She know how hard and painful it was to refuse someone advance with kind intention over the years. At that time Anya had actually resolved herself to accept her Aunt as someone who will replace her mother in her hearts. However as she was prepared to surprise her aunt that she would willingly accept her as her mother, she accidently saw her aunt being passionate with her father. They were kissing, sharing such blissfulness atmosphere between them self. Yes, only them self and they never told Anya. In the middle of their passionate sessions, her aunt apologize towards her father. She said something about trying be close to Anya to get his hearts, his attention and she was feelings sorry about it although she had no regretted it. Anya father loves his wife dearly that he had never considered to take other woman as his wife. It was actually considered a taboo in their village, yet he refused it and chose solely Anya mother. Merusa all this time also happened to love the same man and had tried everything to get his attention, even as far as pledging help from her sister. yet after all was done, it didn''t budge him a bit. Their conversations continued until Merusa mentioned an opportunity had arise as her sister died during childbirth. She tearfully told Anya father how sorry she felt about that and how disgusted she was at herself seeing that moment as a chance more so than a dismal moment. Towards this, Anya father could only smile bitterly. Then she continued her story, she placed her hope in Anya. She wanted to use her as a mean to get closer to him. She wanted to take the place in Anya hearts so that someday she would ask her father to marry Merusa. However no matter what Merusa did, Anya never bulged a bit. She didn''t gave her any chance, even so still she continued showering Anya with loves. Until a moment arrived when she had given up trying to use her instead a new will sprouted from her hearts. She had come to truly love Anya as if she was her own child. She still love Anya father as she had also stubbornly decided that Anya father was the only man she would love in her entire life. Truly such a stubborn person much like Anya father should suit him just fine she said with self mocking smile. However, realizing Merusa true honest intention, slowly he opened his hearts as he had no means to defends against a woman who showered him with that kind of love with all dedication everyday, throughout the years until this moment arrive. Full of love they shared their night and all of it was under the gaze of sneaking Anya who was still immature and egoist despite her cleverness. How can Anya digest it easily, she who had resolved her hearts to finally accept Merusa now felt betrayed. Tears welled up in her eyes as another scar was carved in her hearts. She was afraid at the moment her aunt become his father wife, she would receive less love. Even more so when she born her own child, surely she would be neglected. Long had that night passed until one day the ruler on their location had forced conscription upon the villager''s men. Anya father was one of them and since then Anya hadn''t seen him nor hear from him anymore. As fates will it, the accident that night when Anya fled from Merusa rooms silently had actually been known to her Aunt. Out of her deep love towards Anya, She had prevented herself from marrying her love. Anya was always thinking at the time, before the forced conscription came to take his father away, her Aunt had fight with her father and in the end wasn''t a fit couple for her father. She had seen her aunt distancing herself from her father whenever they met, and she too ends up began to heal herself up as she was felling more secure. She didn''t realize how evil she was at that time. Yet right now all the feelings she had for her Aunt was love and regret. The love she bore for her were much deeper than perhaps towards her mother that exist only in her memories. Anya had accidentally heard her Aunt painful cry during the night after her father was taken. She had heard Merusa painful, aching cry. Anya had heard the truth about her father and her Aunt during that moment. Her aunt had recalled the moment and the promise she held between herself and Anya father. She had unknowingly said it loudly, allowing Anya to hear it. Her Aunt still loved her father deeply, and so does her father towards her aunt. However once they learned the pain that Anya felt after learning about their relationship, they had deliberately stop them self. They fear that Anya would break, broken beyond recovery. Anya was so touched, however she was late to realize. Regret and only regret was all she could felt but that didn''t stop he from running towards her Aunt crying. Repeatedly she apologized towards her Aunt and all she was told back was that she did nothing wrongs. That night was the night the two truly reconcile and became close. Anya had since that time wanted to call Merusa as her mother, but Merusa refused that. She told Anya that no matter what she couldn''t take her mother place however she also said that her love wouldn''t lose to her. Toward this Anya could only smile bitterly. She had refused something so precious before without realizing anything and hurts two of the most important people in her life. Ever since then, she had resolved to be cheerful and stay true to herself no matter what as to not worry her aunt. She also decided to stop being egoist and spoiled. She started working hard, learning archery from her Aunt while absorbing knowledge about plants and monster from the other woman in the village. She grow to be loved and accepted by her surroundings. Sadly she didn''t realize that unknowingly she had grown to be more stubborn than even her father or aunt, whomever she loves in the future surely will be troubled... *** " Anya this is a ruse trails, based on the size of the footrpints should be one year old at most. Do you think you hunt it alone ?" " Eerrr alone ?" " Yes, you should be able to do this much right ? What were you training for ?" " B-but this is my first time." " Precisely, you need to experience it so you can grow." " Bb-but this..." No matter how prepared and strong resolve she had, being alone for the first time doing the task after only watched couple times what the other did was of course to much for Anya. The anxious she didn''t have before began to appear again. " No but, you can do it. The ''Sie'' will come with you afterall... and don''t embarrass yourself, the ''Sie'' will see you." " Ohhhh !!! of course not ! ." As the magic words appeared, she suddenly become fearless, much like a Professional. Quickly she follow the ruse''s trail while making sure she step as lightly as possible. The ruse that she was following right now would be recognized as a deer back in Basara previous world with not much disparity. One of disparity was the ability to merge itself with the surrounding with some mimicry magic. Beside that it could also use *wind step*, a similar skills to wind run however it was slower and couldn''t be maintained for a long of time. There are also one more trouble that one should be carefull when hunting a ruse. The adult version of ruse could use both of their skills at the same time, meaning it would be useless to chase them. It was either a hit or miss therefore being hidden and having huge accuracy to one shot kill the prey was the key of success for the hunt. Did you know this text is from a different site? Read the official version to support the creator. Basara silently followed Anya movement. He had actually wanted to leave her alone as he wanted to join the other more experienced hunter and forager. They were utilizing various skills and spells that he had never seen before. He didn''t think such thing was possible before. However, the fact was different and this world was filled with magic and fantasy, akin to one of the story book he had read. The concept of magic, skills, spells and technique weren''t strange anymore for Basara now after he had seen and confirmed it. He had actually find it hard to believe that most things could pass his body. However since now he had seen the full utilization and possibilities the skills or magic held, he was assured. Heck, he even tried to mimic them directly. They were useless attempt though but still, he didn''t gave up and wanted to see them doing it again. Sadly, he felt luck was on his bad side as he was dragged by Anya, someone he had regarded as inexperienced hunter with few skills and to top of it he no longer could leave her after they separated from the rest. Basara also was unaware that he was followed from atop of the tree some distance away, quite far in fact as the rest had acknowledge the sensing capabilities of Anya. The rest of the group then proceed to follow Anya silently. This situation was actually made as a test rather than first experienceof solo huning, albeit only for a moment. However such things was needed to determine whether someone was suited to hunt and forage or not. The trial was supposed to be done alone and it was designated not to be easy. Even the ''Sei'' who will not assist Anya as they believed weren''t supposed to be there, around Anya. However as customary the test was decided by the group leader, in this case Merusa. She had seen the glitter in Anya eyes as she cling towards the ''Sei''. It was much similar to her seing the eyes that her sister had towards Anya Father, as she first saw him and ends up faillings in loves with him. Such bitter sweet memory and yet this time, it happened to her nephew. Merusa then decided to help Anya a little, giving her a head start. The other young member could only smile bitterly at this but nevertheless they accepted it. Family over man ? of course family was more important to them. " This trail ended here and its abruptly gone umuu...." Anya had suddenly stopped, her eyes wander and basara who was nearby become confused, wondering what were she doing. The other had never stopped until they find the target and he had naively judged that she failed to follow the trail properly. " This ... this is an half eaten leaves, the tooth mark precisely the same as what ruse should have ..." she began to move slowly, carefully as if she had realized something. " Even if I followed a wrong trail and failed, ruse rarely leave half eaten leaf outside of hmm" "Ahhh Could it be a predator ? around here should be the area where striped tigra hunt." She keep moving while crouching even when her senses kept telling her to turn back and return. Nevertheless she continue as she ddin''t want to embarrass her aunt moreover in the presence of their ''Sei''. " Weird, the striped tigra should never miss their target, even if it''s a ruse. They had perfect stealth against the ruse... and yet there are no sign of fighting or carcass left behind. No sign of blood from bleeding either." Sealing her sense of fear, pride was filling her up instead. The will to return successfully had made her misjudge her abilities and situation. ''Grrrhhh'' On top of three not far from was a fire baraga. A type of monster that Basara would consider as a gorilla. It had massive claw, huge sturdy body while its mouth spit flames. It has excellent climbing ability even with its massive body. It has a high nature affinity after all and that helped him to reduce the impact it had when it climb or jumping between trees. Although it couldn''t be as agile as monkey, it could still move just fine, considering its size and beside the tress here were are so big, that even with three human trying to hug it, it wouldn''t be enough. It also needed not the agility of monkey, after all with a thick hide and one shot kill ability, such things were nothing but a hindrance. It had adapted, becoming a waiting predator, laying a trap while hiding its presence. When the unfortunate victim passed trough. It could only die helplessly as it corpse disappear, leaving no trace consumed by this monster. Right now it was resting after it killed and obtained a fair amount of refined mana from its prey. It had downed its guard since it didn''t believe that anything here could endanger him. Its presence leaked, blending and become one with the nature although if one searched for it and when they have an adequate amount of skills, they could find it the fire baraga easily. A monster was different from an Animal. Monsters had the ability to use skills, technique and even magic much the same like animal, however it also posses intelligence, tough not at the level of human or sub human species. The way it preserve it life was also different. A monster could go on for a long period of time without eating or drinking. They didn''t hibernate though, they were cultivating mana, nature mana in accordance with their affinity, treating it as their main nutrition. This way they become stronger as time went on. The number of monsters spread in the wilderness were usually so scarce that it almost impossible to find them, the monster normally prefer a place which was rich in mana such as a mana spring, mana condensed part of the inner forest, lava pool, deep sea and even dungeon. As for this fire baraga, luck had it forced away from its original cultivating places. It had felt a imminent threat that was looming there and opted to follow its instinct to escape. Now he cultivated in the forest near the Okami vilage, it made its new cultivating spot. It hadn''t been long too, no one knew it was here. Since the mana concentrations that suits his affinity were noticeably lower compared to its original place, it grow impatient and start hunting. Although the overall result won''t be as effective compared to the original cultivating place, it was still much better then cultivating normally. The ruse that Anya followed had unfortunately fall as victim for this fire baraga. " Umuuuu ... what is this strange feelings." " I am sure I am being attracted by something here ...'' *crisp-crsip* " This ... now I know what I was following, this is cinder. It had the aroma of burned ruse, I unconsciously smell it and followed the source." Anya fortunately realized something was amiss, and realized it was actually the smell of burned meat of ruse. She had smelt something like this before as she tried to cook it and failed. She had burned her share to cook to an ash ....one had to wonder just how hot and long one need to make a delicious ingredient into a pile of ash. " Did someone manage to catch it before me and cook it ?" " umuuuu ... impossible .. why is my task so hard, should I gave up ?" " Butttt I felt I was almost there ... umuu forward! ." she had forgotten to stay silent and amuse herself with thinking out loud. This amateurish mistake had managed to attract the attention of fire Baraga. Once it saw Anya figure from distance atop of three, it became happy. It had met a human, such a good source of mana. One whole refined human mana could be compared to twenty ruse. That was only if the human was normal, if they had skills, technique they would only become much higher prize if one managed to kill them. It then began to control its presence and making it completely vanish. " This ... " Anya quickly moved her head up, towards the direction which she suddenly felt something was amiss. The fire baraga decision to completely erase its presence turned out to be a mistakes. How can it know that someone would notice it if its presence disappeared, becoming undetectable. However Anya was a little special, with her own gift to read atmosphere, she had reacted fast, fast enough to notice the ripple of presence that suddenly gone. Basara too, after sensing Anya quick aggression along with her movement as she immediately put an arrow in her bow, pulling its string, Basara followed Anya sight. Anya quickly concentrate as her technique allowed the nature to assist her unleashing her most practiced powerful ability. The arrowhead began to shine as Anya pulled the strings further and further to maximize the speed and power. Accuracy and everything else hadn''t entered Anya mind. It was her reflex that told her shot her most powerful ability or die. Seeing the energy or rather pure mana that began to gather, swirling on Anya arrow, the fire baraga quickly decided to use its own technique. Truthfully the fire Baraga wasn''t that old. It would still be considered as a toddler in its packs, and hating the fact that he was belittled so much he had escaped from the group, opting to cultivate alone. So in terms of strength, it wasn''t that powerful. Still should it face a group of common adventurer, it alone can wipe them. Fire mana began to gather on the surface of its stomach, producing a fiery flame. It prepared to use its secret ability immediately, fearing for its own life if anything was wrong. As the fire grow hotter and bigger, it finally launched its technique. A second mouth make its appearance from the surface of its belly that was covered with furs. It was actually the part of its body that launched the skills that had the resemblances of a grapping hook made of pure flame. It all happened in instant, two second at most. The fire baraga had managed to complete its technique first, seeing this basara reacted quickly. He pulled Anya aside right at the moment Anya launched her arrow. Basara suddenly felt as if something was sucked out of his body. It was actually Basara mana that high affinity win wind element. Some of Basara trait were also absorbed into the arrow, covering it with a mist of green aura. " Powershot !!!" Finally Anya released her arrow. As the arrow flew, it gained a magnificent boost in power and speed. It flew twice or even thrice as fast as it should normally be. The tip of the arrow become light green, filled wind destructive wind mana. Basara hadn''t realized all og this, his only thought were danger and protect the girl. Anya being pulled aside suddenly by Basara stumbled and fall down to her butt. She can only now look as her arrow flew towards the Gorilla. facing the Gorilla skills, the arrow didn''t budge at all, in fact as if nothing, the arrow flew pass trough it towards fire baraga. Wind, as an attribute that boasted its velocity and versatility didn''t fail to show its might in this instant contest of survivability. It was so fast that the fire baraga that had thought the arrow would be burned to crisp didn''t have the time to evade it. The requirement to use the fire baraga hidden skills was to standstill while controlling the flaming grapple. It could chase fleeing target up to thirty meters easily with relatively quick preparations, however the downside of standing still was also big, so normally it won''t use this method. However given the current circumstances, it didn''t have much choice and with a loud noise the arrow land hit on the fire Baraga body. It didn''t land on the Baraga head instead on its body, however the arrow wasn''t a normal arrow. It was launched with a skills and even more a spells was added to it. Spells that Basara had unknowingly bestow upon Anya. The air rippled, and the fire baraga body exploded, becoming dust. Sadly the fire Baraga flame graple was already way to near towards Anya and Basara. The group that follow them behind could only watch helplessly as the fire grape hook arrived towards Anya and Basara. They screamed but that was the only thing they could do. Merusa limbs grow weak, as her face grow pale. Basara now were faced with two choice. Time had conveniently slowed down for him. However that''s only for his mind, not for what happened outside of it. Much like a cop who often told stories as if time flow slowly as bullet grazed their face, this happened to Basara. Basara need to decide to either dodge the flaming grapping hook, or shielded Anya from it. Chance if he were to avoid the grape, Anya would be injured badly and potentially died on the spot. However if he shielded her, at least the chance of her surviving are higher. ''What would kazama do if he faced this ?'' '' what about mother ? would she protect me ?'' Such question flashed in his mind, nevertheless Basara hurriedly rejected such a thought since he already knew, that both of them would protect Basara should this kind of things happen. Filled with resolve, Basara faced the flaming grapping hook. "UAAAwwaaaaaa !" He screamed, forcing his body to react and follow his command. He willed himself hard not to let anything passed him trough. At that moment, the cloak that he wore burned to crisp, it was so fast as if it was made of tissue that was burn by the fire lit from grenade. So fast as it burned from bottom to top and the material become so light until it become ashes as it flew from Basara''s body. Naked, Basara faced the flame that still hadn''t died down. The flaming grapping hook now hit Basara body. Avoid, Avoid, Avoid , Basara body had automatically forced itself to become translucent, to let the strange object pass through. It was a spirit characteristic, even more a spirit that had high affinity with winds. Suddenly an explosion of energy come from inside Basara. All of the feelings that Basara captured, telling him to become translucent and evade was pushed out from Basara''s chest. His backs remained calm as if there was nothing unusual happening in front of the owner. That sight was seen solely by Anya as she thought in front of her was the back of someone who was so reliable, it looked so big and comfortable. That sight told her that everything was fine and everything would end well eventough she was fully aware the danger in front of her protector. At this moment, something erupted inside her hearts. Her hearts was actually screaming ''this is it'', '' this is the one that you sought'' and then something clicked in her heads, something was locked and bonded. Following Basara command, that blunt force of energy containing wind mana, repulsed the flaming grappling hook. It flew upwards and as there were no more mana supplied to maintain the technique, it vanished. If there was any high intelligent spirit around who saw Basara used his body like that, they would surrely be angry and told Basara train as right now he was a worthless spirit even when he had high affinity and good body. basara had used such a crude method and endangered everyone presents. He also practically made himself as a place of attraction. There would be bound many who hunted him after this and such situation was what most spirit avoid. Dealing with mages or the likes that tried to capture them and bind them was such annoyance. Though high, mighty and lofty they were, some of them were still captured, so being careful would be the biggest savior they could rely on. *** Miles away from Basara current position, the troublesome adventure group that was focused solely to freed themselves from their pursuers looked towards the sky. " This ..." " Iza ... do you know what was that ?" " Why don''t you ask me Lemran ?" " Shut up Alex , you know nothing about wind magic and only know how to summmon useless things, don''t disrupts us." Strangely the always playful and shrewd Lemran showed a hint of seriousness along with murderous intent towards Alex. Seeing this Alex could only gulped his words back. " So what about it Iza ?" Iza still looking towards the sky and then turned his attention towards his pendant. It was shining, blinking every now and then until the wind energy influx that was spreading disappeared. " Finally, after all of the waiting ... I found one, heh , hhehehe ... AHAHAHAHAHAHA !" The sudden laughter of Iza had actually scared both of Lemran and Alex. They were not moving right now as they doubt their chaser would still continue moving after seeing such scene. It was actually such a baseless things but they couldn''t be more right. " Change of plan, after dumping the goblin to the village, I don''t even care about their leader anymore." " what about my payment ?" " Don''t worry, you will still get it." " What about me Iza ? We need to return the temple immediately !" " Heh for you, you have two choice." At his word, Alex could only gulp, he was really scared right now looking at Iza. " Either you follow us bounded by magic, or you die here." Such cold words that could destroy his reputation and image he had painstakingly build were let out freely from his mouth. From the looks of it, Iza was being serious. It seems he was prepared to sacrifice anything to get what he wants. " What !!! Me the mighty summoner become someone else lap dog ? Never !" *smirk* " Then die !" without needing Iza to said anything, Lemran had jumped and aimed his daggers towards Alex neck. " Ieeekkkk !! Forgiv..... " Splurt ... blood was pouring from Alex neck as he falls down. It didn''t show any sign of stoping and Alex had fall silent. " Good work Lemran, sadly our companion Alex had fallen to the goblin horde behind us. He had bravely bought us time to escape for the success of missions." " Hehehehe ...understood." " Beware this could happen to you too ..." *Gulp* " No matter, you had skills, and that is was all I need... I trust your silence means agreement ?" " Yes." Plain and clean answer comes from Lemran mouth. Such things rarely happen but this was one of the moments. " Now let''s move, herd the goblin towards the village, there is a chance that the spirit was not hiding from the start and in fact was summoned by Alex, we need to be sure." Without answering, Lemran went back towards the goblin horde scout as to barely give them a chance to follow their trails. It wasn''t an easy job but it was perfect for him. If both of Lemran and Iza used their true abilities, they could escape easily from the goblins horde behind them, but all this time they didn''t do so since Alex was there. They wanted to stay low as to avoid suspicion yet also to gather reliable supports from Alex temple. " Now that the heaven finally give me the chance, I need to grab it and make it mine." " I will not only become a maestro, a mere magi class for wind element, I will become a sage no, a high sage." " Khuhu ..khuhuhu .khukuhahahahahahahah !" " My ambitions... the heaven had showed me the path ! I WILL SUCCED." *** *blurgh* A mouthful of blood was spewed by a corpse. The corpse turned out to be Alex. His face was pale but determination filled his eyes. From his shoulder emerge a slug with white aura. This slug had been healing him from Lemran slice slowly. Lemran was truly vicious, he had planed Alex to be eaten by the goblin horde, leaving him half alive with a huge amount of paralysis poison applied to him. If Alex hadn''t summoned his healing slug from the start of the journey and hidden it on his clothes, surely he would have died right now, either from blood loss or goblin attack. " To think the elder were correct, Temple master surely was being fooled by Iza !" " That massive energy explosion, it must come from a spirit which specialize in wind, just as I expected from me the renown genius of Amarok, summoning a mighty spirit with a mere stone hahahaha, now I only need to report it to the temple so they will help me bind that thing." " And lastly that thief, Lemran just wait I will get my revenge !" Quickly he left the place towards the Amarok city, where his temple was located. At this time Iza and Lemran had already left Alex dying place, so they hadn''t suspected anything. *** " Leaaadddeerrr ..." " Speak " " Gob... scout ... huge ...wind... Mana, Spirit ... big ... chance." With high difficulties, the goblin tried to report towards their leader. Goblin although somewhat intelligent and had also moderate war potential, they didn''t have a good speaking ability outside the few special ones. " We kill thief, We get spirit ! For our Masterrr !!!!" *Grah Grah Grah Grah * All the goblin that was present hit their chess over and over, showing their determination. They wore no armor, hitting their chest directly. " FOR MASTERRRRRR !!!!!" *** Ch 4 Those who chase after him, gather ! please let me know if there are mistakes, which I am sure are littered everywhere, Enjoy :) _________________ Devastation, the only appropriate explanation left looking at the damage In front of Basara. When both skills clashed, those who were far away were already overwhelmed, much less those who were around him save Anya. The wrecking clash of the mana also made a deafening sounds, spread evenly to all. The area around Basara was void, something akin of barrier was surrounding both Basara and Anya. However the area was so small that it could barely contain both of them. For both of them the moment the fire baraga skills disappeared time moved still, that was until Basara fall down and passed out. His body shone dimly with a little hint of darkness, escaping from the tip of his body. It was unlike the first time Anya saw him. Basara, being new to this world with the lack of his knowledge and understanding had used almost all of his wind mana, including what his body had reversed for emergency. Such power was actually unneeded, but this was the cost of his blindness. Basara now fall into the state of weakness, his body forced him to rest. His complexion looks pale, yet a smile was smeared in his faces. Normally for a spirit, this much mana being used at once indicating that its life was in grave danger. The amount of mana its spent would result in the spirit inability to maintain its material form, leaving its completely in spiritual form. This condition ultimately made them vulnerable to binding spells, even the lowest of low. There were also being that would gladly absorb their life during this period which could last who knows how long until they were confronted with their mana affinities, thereby absorbing them and heals up. Fire elements, although couldn''t be said to completely counter wind elements still played a major role as a favorite elements to fight those with winds element. When the fire elemental users had a good grasp and high affinity of their fire attribute ability, they could burn their enemy wind down along with the users. Besides that generally wind elemental users would spent a lot more mana just to counter the raw force exuded from fire elemental users. The rate of mana consumption could be said around two for wind and only one or even less for fire. That being said, the reverse also hold true. Just like what happens with the Anya arrow, it could pierce trough the technique from fire baraga because of Basara blessings. The fire baraga comprehension about his own technique wasn''t bad, but his own understanding about fire elemental were lacking thus making his spells although powerful, had many blank spots or weak points. This many weak spots were the reason for winds surrounding the arrow managed to slip through along with the arrow from the fire technique and deals massive amounts of damage. This time tough the method wasn''t cleary the best, since by passing trough and not countering it could endanger the caster. So understanding how much mana to spends or which spells were likely to be effective against other were important. Basara although didn''t have any comprehension about using his abilities, had still to a certain degree of understanding about wind elements. Naturally him being a wind spirit also helped, granting him a high affinity with wind elements, thus making all the possibilities. *** " What is happening !" I was blinded for a second, the flash of light that suddenly appeared was too much for my eyes. I hurriedly wished for it to ends, I needed my vision. I need to make sure that Anya was save. I forced my body to adapt fast, however nothing changed. Then while I was waiting for my vision to return, my ear turn deaf. It hurts so much as I head a rumble and screech sounds beyond what I could comprehend. I had heard many thunder sounds as it hit the ground, however they weren''t as deafening as what I experienced right now. " Anyaaa !" I opted to shout now instead, hoping that my voice could reach her and helped me to made sure of her well beings. However, I received no reply. My heat began to ache, the image of Anya dying here flashed in front of me. I just couldn''t accept it nor want it. " Anyaaaaaaa !" I shouted against, this time louder, still no reply come. Luckily this time my vision began to return. I immediately scanned my surrounding, attesting the safety of my companion. Anya was important, however my group safety were also important. Everyone was alright and now my vision had already stabilized. I began to climb down from the tree where I was watching Anya, moving towards where I believed she was. Everything behind our protector was fine, there was what appeared to be wall of winds that continuously moving upwards, towards the sky. In the area where Anya was, a small circular of wind barrier was formed. I found Anya there, save and sound, I believed her eyes were glued towards our protector back at that moment. I sighed in relief, my tensed muscle began to relax. However the moment I lifted my sight further as to confirm there was no danger, the scenery left me wordless. Utter destruction ? It wasn''t as bad as what stories of old told me. There wasn''t much a change in the scenery however the same couldn''t be said to what happened two or perhaps three meters ahead of the windwall. The ground was cracked and uplifted. The tress were smashed and thrown everywhere as just right now, it began to crumble and falls back down towards the ground. " This ..." " Merusa this is the legendary Wind wall of sixth tier ? " One of my group members asked me a question that I am not even sure how to answer it. The others began to speculate and answered in my place. We had confirmed the safety of both Anya and our Protector, so while chatting we stride forwards. " Then what are those uplifting wind that we saw ?" " That seems to be a wind wall." " But it was supposed to be only a shield, not an attacking spells." I was surprised at the knowledge that my group possesses ? We were from a small village, with not much resources. I could only guess perhaps when some adventures came with their bards. They had performed in the village and my group members had heard it for them about the might of spells and so on that we could only dream. " I suppose, our ''Sei'' had used his own unique magic to protect Anya." Yes, our ''Sei'' must had thought that it was such a dangerous moment for Anya and he had decided to use far more powerful spells. I should be thankful and hurried to them. *Thud* " ''Seiiiiiii'' !!!!!! " Anya suddenly screamed, this wake up us from our idle chatter and hurried our steps. Our ''Sei'' had lost his consciousness, this had made Anya panicked. However I was calm as I know that something like this should happen after using something powerful, even for a spirit. The instant I arrived there, I too began to panic as our '' Sei'' had lost his color, his aura that normally radiated from him when he was naked wasn''t there anymore, instead something akin to gloomy aura was sometime emitted from his body. " This is bad ..." " What happen, what happen !" Easily panic spread among us, we don''t know what we could we say towards the other if our ''Sei'' become dispirited in this place and leave us. Quickly think of something...anything ! Ah ... " Calm down everyone, hurry load him to our carts." " How ? won''t he just slip down ?" That''s right, what should I do... " Huuu.. we just uhuu... need to load him uhuu.. again right, hiks-hiks." Anya answer had unexpectedly surprised us, that''s right. Whatever the reason was, our ''Sei'' was more important, even If I had to load him hundred, no thousand times was okay. Anya you had grown up splendidly ... " Alright, we make raft now to carry our ''Sei'' until we meet with the others which are guarding our catch and carts. If necessary we could empty the carts to made more room for ''Sei''." Our calmness had returned now, we began to do our task while I lead them, making sure the path is save and easy to walk through. Strangely our ''Sei'' didn''t slip through the raft at all nor he was slipping from our hands. This had managed to ease Anya hearts as she could hold our '' Sei'' hands all the time during the journey. I had told her to leave our ''Sei'' alone but she refuses, she told me it was her fault and she would stay with the ''Sei'' until he wakes up. I let her do what he wants during the journey, as squabbles would just mow down the team mentality and slowed us down, however in the villages later I would make sure she was separated from our ''Sei'' so he could rest, then come the session where I need to ask for explanation, the reason it all comes down to this was her after all. *** Amarok City, Summoner temple HQ " That''s conclude all my report, Grand Elder. " " Hmm, an unbound spirit and that Iza kid, a traitor ?" " Yes, as for the spirit, though from afar, I could clearly see the massive influx of wind mana." " How can you be sure is unbounded ?" " I believe the spirit was originally summoned from the summoning rite I had performed." " Then why you leave it be, fools." " It ..it was a plan." " Do you think you can lie to me, kid ?" " It is the truth !" " Whatever, fact is the a wind spirit is there, a high one moreover ?" " Y-yes, I am sure of this, even Iza said so." " Hmmph, in the end you rely on Iza intuition don''t you, well then what are you waiting for ? go and bound it" " I..I don''t think I can do it alone..." " What a hopeless grandson you are, even rushing here with an artifact ''Butterfly wings'', you realize it is difficult to acquire even of those don''t you ?" *crack* The table which the grand elder was sitting on was hit by his massive palms, resulting the table splits into two. " Hieekkk.... for-forgive me grandfather." " Fools ! take number eleven with you and go get the spirit, if you fail hmpph !" " B-but only number eleven ?" " What ? you want the entire temple know you are going to get a high wind spirit and compete with them ? If not for the treasures I gave to you, you would have long ago left behind in dust." " Yes ! I will certainly acquire the spirit in grandfather name !" " Good, go." Quickly Alex left his grandfather office in the temples. His grandfather was one of the tree grand elders in the temple. Each was powerful enough to represent the temple in many wars. Each one of them also possess many subordinate which had pledged them self for the elders causes. The subordinate were ranked in numbers after their strength was assessed against each other. Number one until tenth represent the elite of elite. When each elders wanted to assign them a quest, the other elders would be notified by either formal or informal means. Even though the subordinate was their own, they didn''t had the flexibility to be deployed anytime due the power balance reason. Even within the same temple, the grand elders were like a faction leader, thus such things would naturally occurs as they struggle against each other. This book is hosted on another platform. Read the official version and support the author''s work. Number eleven until one hundred were the actual subordinate that each elder could utilize freely. As the rest, it didn''t matter much since their strength might carry bust still weak enough to be compared to those numbered below one hundred. One also should know that the distance between number eleven and tenth were as far as the different in power between those below hundred and those from thousands. Such was the might of the elites that each grand elders posses. Grand elders also posses many elders that supported their causes. This elders come strictly from the temple and was appointed directly by the temple leader as his acknowledgement for their strength and services. The subordinate of each grand elder came from either their own temple or others temple. This happen because the elder even though they believe their class are the most powerful, they still realized the importance of having someone who master different classes. As such they sent their own disciple to other temples to abide by their rules, and master their skills before returning towards them. The grand elders also accepted those who went rogue and could prove their loyalty. Iza was such a case, however he was aiming to be the subordinate of the temple leader, not the grand elder. This time, Alex grandfather had noticed the suspiciousness of Iza origin and behavior, thus he had sent his own grandson to monitor him. Though his grandson was powerful, it was only because of artifact and it was a known fact. Many consider his strength was not genuine, thus many underestimate him. Alex grandfather had hoped that Iza dropped his guard and slipped his true intention out so he himself could use this against the temple leader, to made his faction stronger. Sadly Iza was a very cautious man, not easy to see trough. Traps against traps never faltered him, he even used the traps as a prove to show his loyalty. Truthfully this time, the grand elder felt that luck was on his side. His dumb grandson managed to drop Iza guard, making his true intention shown. He showed his true color due to a spirit that was summoned by Alex. " Fool, showing your intention now just for a mere wind spirit ? you wasted your entire facade this time Hahahaha." Alex''s grandfather didn''t really care if Alex failed to acquire the spirit, he believed it was just an ordinary wind spirit since the method he had used were low level. " At best, a high spirit. Who cares ? one or two still wouldn''t amount to the card I can play right now hahaha." This time, Alex''s grandfather was already pleased by what he had already gained, he felt contempt. He now believe he could raise his faction power. " If that idiot managed to comeback with the spirit, he might not be that useless after fall, though the chance aren''t that good. He wasted time by coming here even after using ''Butterfly wing''. Evermore the items he handled over Iza this time for the quest was something that can be used to seal and force bind noble level Spirit. " Who cares though, we had plenty of those spirit crown." *** In the forest one day away from Okami village, there was an uncharted path that right now was filled with merchant caravan. This was a group of merchant that often travel between region to deliver an exotics goods that could only be found from the locals in this nowhere place. Though it might not sell much, there was still demand from an eccentric noble or rich people and this group of merchant tried to fill that demands. They often traveled to place like this while being accompanied by their chosen bodyguard, though sometimes they also accept stragglers on the road that wished to join them with a fee. This time however, two people were separating from the group. One was a man in his forty and another was a female on her teens. The man wore a brown robe while the female teens didn''t bother to wear any robe, instead opted to wear casual black and red dress, showing of some of her skins while carrying her black scythe in her one of her hands. In the forest, a female wearing such clothes would attract an endless attention and should warrant trouble, yet she still persist. In actuality, the older man told her to train this way. In order to made her strong, she had to manifest her aura to be able to push those with wicked intention and anything that could endanger her aside solely with aura alone. Example including bugs that bite during the day and nights. The girl was someone who hold the class of ravager. Her master, the man beside her was someone who walked the path of severator, a class that belongs exclusively as a third advancement class from ravager. A severator hold the power to split mana. This had enabled him to prevail against mage and summoner class which sometimes rely mana condensed summoned creature. " Target found." " Calm down, young miss." " Say that again, and I will sever your body." " Remember my teachings ? No grudges, No force, persuading trough words is a must if there is possibilities." " ....." The girl refused the reply, She hated the man teachings. For her, words were useless against power to separate the body and its head. She only needed strength, she wanted only strength. Especially right now that she needed to acquire it fast, fast enough so she could return quickly and takes back what was hers before it disappears. " If you force it, you will lose the only chance you got young lady." as if mocking her, the man refused to be left without an answer and pursued the matters further. " And if you missed it, there is no second chance and surely you will fail" To this provocation, her resolve faltered and she answered " How can you be sure ? It''s not like you know anything about it." " Oh sure I know, those eyes of yours are something similar that someone close to me had." " And what of it ?" " And he failed, end of story." " I am not him ." She tried to refute back, refusing to accept his words that pain her hearts and mocks her resolution. " Yes, that is why you will fail, even more so than him." " Fine, however if this time is also a bust, I will just my way. I am sick of failure." " Is up to you, however I will always remind you." "..." Silence, they continued their journey towards their destination. Their aim was clear. They journeyed to find spirits, powerful one at that. They wanted to sever the spirit from their spiritual body and granted them a mortal body. A body that could be wounded by blade and arrow easily. Their journey was of course difficult. Outside of the spirit that was weak enough that they would willingly left their spirit body and affinity in order to acquire mortal body, no one else would be normally be willing enough to trade it. Yet their journey this time was precisely to found that being, a spirit that was powerful yet would still trade his own spiritual body for normal, mortal body. There are of course benefit that could be gained from having a mortal body. First they would be no longer forced to practice in the way of spirit. Aside that there were also the freedom from being hunted around. They would also no longer be susceptible to bounding contract easily as their spirit body. That was why many weak spirit often seek freedom when they met a severator. Sadly severator class was not common, as to become one, a ravager needs to be profound in the way of scythe and also mastered the previous advancement class. Ravager could use many weapon to activate their skills or technique, sadly scythe was a rare choice since most their skills didn''t perform well when executed with a scythe This high requirement had diminish the already low chance of one being a severator. A severator was a powerful class however, it was also hard to acquire. It had no designated temple as it originated from a ravager temple. Sadly sometimes a Severator due to being scarce felt special and become arrogant, refusing to mingle with those who were still below the third advancement class. This had birthed hatred towards them in general inside the temple, although deep in each ravager''s hearts, they too willing to become a Severator one day and become mighty. A severator class could normally be gained after one mastered first class and second class advancement. Ravager was the first class, while destroyer or crusher was the second advancement. Destroyer was a class that focuses on a technique or skills that would destroy an area around the intended target, while crusher focused on crushing single target with unspeakable might. Each had its own advantage and there wasn''t much hostilities between them. Most of people opted to stay at the second level of class advancement because if one wanted to attain a third class advancement they had to lost their accumulated strength first and start over from the beginning, although their body would become more powerful than their peers however compared to the stage they were at before becoming weaker, they were far cry. Since most people mastered the second advancement class at the age of fivety, they opted to stay that way. For them stability were much preferred. Example what if their village or town were suddenly attacked either by bandits or other country. If they were still at their weakened state at that time, how could they defend them self or their family ? Fortunately some people found a special condition in which they could advance towards the third class directly. This could be accomplished during either the first advancement class or the second advancement class stage. For A severator as an example, being able to sever the connection between a powerful high spirit and their spiritual body. Many tried this way only to perish since powerful high spirit was still powerful and their demands were also at large from mage class and summoner class. This time the girl master was one strange Severator. He had told her disciple not to force the spirit instead to persuade it. He told her that she will miss something and would never got the chance to acquire ever again if she forcefully separated the spirit from its spiritual body. She had asked her master what will she miss, but the master only told her that it would help her successfully dealt with her problems. He refused to answer what is the exact things even after she offered rewards. Instead he said that she would miss it, if she know it from someone else somehow. The only way is being patient and see it for yourself later. Patience was the key he told her. However again, words are useless against her. She had no time, She was pressed. She won''t yield no matter what her master said after this moments if they were to fail. " Sigh, hopefully this time it works, otherwise who knows if she will follow my words again." The man continued the journey while deep in his heart hiding his own regret, the pain of his past he never told anyone and he wished the girl beside him won''t experience the same. Ch 5 : Two days and one night Hello again :) please let me know any mistakes you notice and now enjoy. rate, comment or review would be really appreciated. _____________________________ "Urghhh" ''My head so dizzy. My body felt terrible, my memory so blurry, my vision hmmm normal.'' What happened ? I released something from inside my body and willed it to fight back that flaming hook things and now I felt ... empty. Not an ounce of strength I had before left. Where am I, I wondered and moved my head around. " This is familiar, my shack ?" I tried to move my hand however, something was preventing me from doing so. It was a hand that held me back. It felt smooth yet rough. It was small yet I could notice how strong it grasped my fingers. I turned my head over towards the one who held my hand. It was a girl, moreover if I wasn''t wrong, she was the girl who was glued to me in the forest. " Ugh... why is she here." I honestly didn''t know what to feel at time like this, annoyance perhaps ? I fell unconscious was definitely because of this girl mistakes and yet this girl also the one who tended my needs during my blankness. This was the first time someone else did it for me besides mom or Kazama . This girl should be a stranger for me however, somehow I felt familiar scent coming from her right now, the scent of Kazama ... no the scent of wind. I don''t know what happened after I blocked the incoming attack at all. Did this girl brought me and carried me all the way to here ... wait a second, this small girl did ? Not possible, the other must had helped her. Anyway, I need to thank the other later but first I really want to get up. I really don''t like staying in the bed like this, it reminds me of my old days in the slump. " Wake up, wake up !" I shook her body lightly, I wanted to call her name but then I realized I didn''t know what was her name. " UUuuuu ...." She began to wake up now, good. She slowly rubbed her eyes while looking at my direction before suddenly she jumped towards me and hugging me. " Seiii !!" How happy she was I thought, seeing her expression I concluded. However I still didn''t understand why she was so happy and also why I felt this kind of situations strangely likeable, at least I felt at comfort. " Have enough ?" " Umuu ... not enough !" " You are so strange." I replied, wanting to joke her, so she could soon release me. " Huuu I don''t care, so long you are fine huuu hu hu hu..." Tears of joy fell from her green eyes. Oh .. this scene is not bad at all, rather I felt pleasant that someone could cry for me. " Hahahaha." I immediately smiled wryly after she didn''t stop crying for a while. I need to calm her down somehow now. " Now now, calm down okay, everything is fine right ?" " Huuuuu, yes huuu...." Then she began to wipe her wet face before suddenly something dawned upon me. " Eh , you can understand me ?" " Yes ?" " you can understand what I was talking about ?" " Yes, is it strange ? .... ehhhhh !" " What happen ?" " I don''t know ! umuuu ... but this is good !" and .. she start clinging to me again. This girl really is clingy, I am worried in the future that this girl would never change and cling to me at every chance she got ... impossible right ? right ? *** " Is that what truly happened ?" " Yes chief, I Merusa swore it." After that the chef could be seen busy with his mind for a while. He rubbed his chin while sometime stroked his not so long white beard. " Hmm... we need to Exile our ''Sei'' after all." I was flabbergasted when chief mumbled the words of exiling the ''Sei'' who had saved my niece. How could he even thought about that ? " Ch-Chief ?" " Ah .. yes yes what is it ?" " Exiling our ''Sei'', are you serious chief ?" " Hmmm so you heard that, well there was no use in hiding it anyway. Fine I will tell you my reason." I grew impatient at the chief words and cut his words. " What kind of justified reason is there chief, for us to Exile the village protector and savior, despicable !" " Calm down Merusa, why are you so agitated ?" " The ''Sei'' saved Anya ! He killed the damn abomination before anyone fallen prey to it. Who knows how many member of hunting squad would return alive had he not killed it !" To this claim, the chief however could only smile bitterly before continued with his answer. " Merusa, you respect the ''Sei'' right ?" " Obliviously." " Then you must understand, that by exiling him, it would save his life from danger and so our village. I was confused now, saving the ''Sei'' life ? saving our village ? The ''Sei'' was in a weakened state, our village has only little to no defense in this wilderness. Together we could protect each other. What was the chief thinking ? " I don''t understand chief." " Good, think rationally now. The '' Sei'' was forced to use his ultimate spell right ? Even the villagers that were here could see the wind ripples." " Could it be ..." " Precisely, There will be people who came to sought him, after his power, lusting to own him. We cannot protect the ''Sei'' at all." " This is ... is there really nothing we can do ? You are bounded with him right ? you are the '' Sei'' master right ?" Sweats then fells from the chief head, he looked guilty about something. He seemed hesitating about the accusation. " I ... I lied about bounding with the "Sei". I have no control nor contract over the '' Sei'' at all." Huh .... the chief lied ? Then all this time the ''Sei'' had helped us out of his free will. This is troublesome. If news spread even after we defended the ''Sei'' from the first wave, there will definitely be another that arrive soon. And when they learned that the ''Sei'' had no owners, they would wage war over the right, trampling us during that time. The other power wouldn''t care at all about this small powerless village. Even if we are to disappear, there won''t be any complain nor any question about it. " Then Exiling him ..." " That is our only choice, otherwise our village will vanish when the struggle over the ''Sei'' occurs." Ah ... I need to tell Anya about this. I don''t even care about the others or the village right now. If Anya had decided that he will follow the ''Sei'', then she will do so no matter what. I regretted that I failed to convince Anya to let the ''Sei'' rest alone. Right now she must had felt that she and the ''Sei'' were destined to be together or something stupid like that, just like her mother and myself. " Ughhh ...." My mind began to scramble, if the ''Sei'' really leave then Anya would likely to follow him no matter what I said. I hated this stubborn family trait that we have right now. That starry eyes of hers were exactly the same that my sister had. I need to go now. " Chief, I need to go and tell Anya about it." " Tell me about what aunt ?" Oh, fortunately she herself had wandered here. Now even if I had to forcefully separate her and the ''Sei'', I could still do it. " Listen Anya, Aunt have a wish for Anya. Please , even its only this time only, you need to promise and agree with aunt okay ? " She tilted her head, confused. Well I had never forced her to agree or promised me anything after all. " Eehhhh ... okay, but wait alright hehehe Anya have big news !." She made a cute pose before giggling as if she had something really amazing to say. Really this girl what was she thinking at this kind of moments. Perhaps she brought the news that the ''Sei'' had woken up, Worth of being joyful and all, sadly this moment was the wrong moment. " Hehehehe, don''t be surprised okay hehehe, umuuu .... The truth is, the ''Sei'' already woke up and Anya can speak with the ''Sei'' ! Anya know that the ''Sei'' name was Basara ! He come from a worlds called earth and he is single ! Yay !!!" This silly girl, just because the ''Sei'' wake up, there was no need to be so happy right ... Ehhh, she could speak with the ''Sei'' and she know where the ''Sei'' come from, moreover the fact that the ''Sei'' was single! This could not be worse right. I need to subdue Anya now and hide her somewhere. Just as was about to grab Anya and hide her, she turned her body on me and shouted with strange language, kind of similar with what the ''Sei'' had used. It had that calming rhythmic. The ''Sei'' then entered the chief house and I could only grow upset about what to do. *** The atmosphere inside the Chief House was tense. Even Basara with his little experience in socializing could sense it and stayed quite. The chief, Anya''s aunt and Anya herself had moved from their original position, letting Basra stayed alone in the corner while they continued their discussion. It has been hours was what Basara felt. He stayed unmoving and just standing in one of the corner inside of the chief house. Although form a far he could observe the change in Anya expression and he enjoyed it too. At first it was full of joy and happiness. She would sometimes exaggerate her words trough her body language and Basara could guess that she was talking about himself. Sadly that joyful expression of her didn''t last long when the woman beside her, interrupted her. " It seems they were talking about something serious. Perhaps scolding Anya because of her recklessness during the hunting." Unbeknownst to Basara, they were in fact talking about exiling him. Day had changed since the hunting, Basara had passed out for about one day and he hadn''t inquired how long he had passed out. Right now was evening and when the battle occurs it was mid day, so he only assumed a short 3 or perhaps 4 hours had passed. During their discussion period, Basara often spotted the wandering eyes of Anya. She sometimes peek at Basara, her eyes radiated the word helplessness and Basara just ignored it. He hadn''t realized what Anya meant. She really had wanted to stay with Basara however her aunt and the chief prohibited it. As she began to question why, they began to explain the plan of exiling Basara. They emphasized the point that no matter what, she could not stay with Basara. Even after she plead that she could protect herself and pointed out the fact that she could understand Basara, it was still prohibited. She wondered why would they exile him only to receive a feeble reason for the safety of the village and the ''Sei'' himself. That discussion or rather persuasion lasted for a while until a slap landed on Anya Face followed by a hug from her aunt. Basara seeing all this was baffled, not understanding anything. He was still obvious to their language save from a few words and numbers. Basara stayed idle, confused. He wanted to help his new found friend that he could finally exchange words freely but he didn''t know how. He then began to move towards them as wanting to interrupt and inquiry what had happened. However not before long he was instead called over by Anya. " Basara, come here." With a teary face and sad voice she mentioned Basara to come closer. " Are you okay ? What is wrong ?" worried before anything, Basara asked her well being. " I am fine, however I no ... the Chief had important message that I need to inform you." " Oh, what is it ?" " Basra, from here now on, you are exiled from the village and prohibited to converse nor socialize with the villager. You need to move far away from this village. " " Huh ?" Confused, Basara asked her again about her words. " Exiled." " *** **** **** " "*** **** ***** " " ****** ?" Basara hearing was ringing, he became obvious to the situation. His visions grow darker and blurry. His breath become ragged. ''That'' about to come and Basara could not resist it at all. It was triggered by what he just heard after all, proving how weak Basara heart actually was. With teary eyes and depressed voice, Anya had answered Basara. Her words were short and clear, it shot trough Basara hearts. His heart trembled, it hadn''t been long since he arrived in this world. He was selfishly summoned here and now he would be exiled without apparent reason ? He had forgive them for summoning him without his consent after seeing the condition of the village. Though he was useless he had tried his best to help them, protect them. He had planed many things for the future of this village. On how to farm more efficiently, making more tools to help them with his basic knowledge from earth that he learned as he was working in farm and fishery. He had even provided his body to protect Anya and the group from the potential threat they had faced. He had risked his life and what did he get ? He felt he was being used, selfishly, with no remorse. He even began to forget how kindly they had treated him, but he thought it was normal for he also did everything he could for them. He had forgotten how Anya had kindly treated him when he had passed out and how they began talking freely, becoming friends afterwards. Short it was, however for the normal Basara that should have been enough, even more after he tried hard to become someone like his best friend Kazama. A friendly person that everyone liked. Yet strangely Basara felt only darkness, despair. The scene as he was being trampled by the troublemakers in the slump came back to him. The scene as they showed him how they had used his mother rewind in his mind. Sound was blocked from his hearing. Darkness filled his eyes and heart. The gloomy aura that surround him since he woke up grow stronger as he began to emit darkness in his surroundings. Once again he enter the recoiling state that Kazama shortened as ''that'' happen. It was the moment when Basara relapsed into his past. Back in earth when he still didn''t had resistance against it, he would scream, scratch he wall, throw anything that he could find while uttering the words mother and such countless time. Eventfully though, he began to heal up as Kazama managed to warm his hearts. However that was back in earth, here in the strange new world, Basara had no brake, no one yet outside himself. Perhaps the closer thing that could become his brake was Anya. Sadly even Anya hadn''t really secured a strong spot inside Basara cold heart. Basara trying as he might to be kind was actually a very cold and skeptical person, even more when the relapse happened. The only people that could helped him pass this period quickly before he himself managed to come out of it was Kazama. As the saying goes, wounds on outside can heal quickly, but inside, no one knows how many days or years needed before one could heal it. That saying precisely describe Basara. On the outside he was warm and likeable fellow, however deep in his heart he was as cold as ice. It can be warmed and melted, however it required time and effort. " Arghhhhhhhh." Basara began screaming, The darkness aura that surround him began twirling and swirling. Hitting and throwing whatever the darkness now shaped numerous hands touched. " Ohookk .. No .. Noo.." One of the hand griped the chief''s neck. His aide wasn''t at his side this time and no one could save him. As for Merusa and her niece Anya, both of them were thrown towards the wall. Truly when one see things from the chief side, which stated to always prioritize the safety of his villagers no matter the cost and method, one would understand why the chief had ''selfishly'' used Basara. He was already out of option and could only grasp at whatever the heaven or hell had thrown onto him. Yet sadly such a thing was precisely what Basara unneeded. The trust he began to cultivate for human, especially for the inhabitant on this world was at that moment shattered. How depressed he was no one knows, as he began to fall into slumber, letting his body run amok. If you stumble upon this tale on Amazon, it''s taken without the author''s consent. Report it. In reality, Anya had never stopped after mentioning the short and cold words exiled. She had immediately followed up the harsh words with reason that elders and Merusa had come up with. She had also mentioned how she wished she could follow him anywhere he go, alas her aunt prohibited her and if she forced her way, so would her aunt and so she gave up. She was powerless in that situation. She was crying at that time while trying to explain further the reason and the gift he would receive along with the suggested destination Basara should went. What happened however, differ greatly from what they had hoped. They had thought that the understanding and kind Basara would accept their gift and leave them be. Not a shred of imaginations would lead them to this situation. Unfortonately the fact something had deliberately blocking Basara hearing didn''t change. It had shortened the words that Basara could hear and made it look cruel and cold, ''exiled''. Luckily this time it was only sound that it managed to block and not vision. One could only imagine the state Basara would be when it was said by Anya with a cruel and cold looks compared to the crying full of snot face. If it had managed to create such delusion, surely there was no going back for Basara. " Uhheekkk .. Noo ..." " Chieff !" shouted the crawling Merusa. The chief had grow paler, tears, snot covered his face. His trunks wet from his pee as he also grew scared from the sight of Basara running amok. Merusa on the hand broke a few of her ribs on the impact. She had tried to shield Anya as she was thrown shortly after she hit the wall, thus rendering the force Anya recieved while damaging her body even further. " Basara ...." said Anya full of understanding tone , her tone held no regret just acceptance. At this time, many scene flashed in Anya mind, It belonged to Basara. Perhaps the effect from Basara blessing wasn''t limited to sharing his power only. It might had also linked their hearts to a certain extent making them able to converse and Anya able to exchange words with him. When Basara was summoned, Anya was only one out of the hundred who had seen him. She was nothing special, yet after all the days Basara had stayed here, not once she missed the news about him from her friends. Of course if anyone had asked, she wouldn''t admit, even more if her aunt was the one who asked her. She didn''t really interacts with him before the hunting, only sometimes taking a glace from afar which Basara didn''t notice. She had actually been interested about him ever since the beginning and that didn''t change a bit even after his splendor was wiped out, showing Basara''s darkness. Strange... that was what the darkness that covered Basara right now felt towards Anya. It was the precise thing that had managed to block Basara hearing. The fear and despair Basara had felt the day when her mother was taken away from him had resulted it being born. From that day onwards, It had tried to protect Basara in its own way. Rewinding the scene over and over again was to remind Basara that the world was cruel and not to trust anyone. It had failed once when Basara become close with Kazama and ever-since then it swore to never fail again and thus unspeakable hatred always shroud Basara hearts, preventing him to grow closer to anyone else afterwards. Yet once again it seems it would fail. It had allowed a spot in Basara hearts to be snatched. Although weak, it keep growing in Basara cold hearts, warming and melting the coldness. That spot was taken unknowingly as the girl first met Basara and began clinging to him. For Basara who felt he was avoided although it was out of respect in this world, he had felt happy as she glued herself to him. Despite his commentary about the unfamiliarity including a slight bad mouthing the said girl he was still pleasured . He was content and surprised as the girl also enjoyed herself clinging to him. As time goes, the spot grow albeit only a little. A little it maybe, yet it was enough to make the lonely Basara throw himself in danger for her. The darkness inside Basara was the one who actually forced Basara body to flee and turn translucent at the critical moment. It was blind the same as Basara about the rule of magic in this world yet it managed to force the mana inside Basara to heed it will. However again it failed as Basara refused and defended the girl. The moment Basara woke up and felt the warm on his hands, it was also the moment the darkness in Basara grieve in pain, the spot that the girl managed to snatch in Basara hearts had grew larger. It melted even more ice that surround its space, claiming even more Basara attention. Basara was weak to this kind of attack. He was weak when he felt lonely and precisely at every moment of weakness, the darkness had tried it hardest to protect Basara by occasionally rewind his past, omitting the parts when Basara meet Kazama yet somehow in the end Kazama and his mother would come to the scene. It didn''t understand about joy, about happiness. Even if Basara had to feel pain it was okay since Its mission was to survive and no matter how, stay safe out of trouble. Trust no one since everyone was evil, even if they appeared kind at a moment, there was no guarantee that it would stay that way. It blatantly refused to administer condition of the said being. Pure black and white, that was what it was. It felt that it had failed its duty to protect Basara and at this moment a new threat was growing closer towards Basara. The darkness in Basara screamed ''go, go away''. It truly felt threatened from the girl as she now walked closer. Green windy light shone from her body, as if it was imparting a knowledge from heaven towards Anya. " Basara ..." " AAAaaaaaaa...." The darkness shaped hand released its grips from the chief and convert itself, becoming a whip made out of darkness. *Whap-Whap* " Anya, stay away from him !!" Merusa shouted, worried, yet she could do nothing just like before, in the forest. " Basara .... forgive me." Tears fall down again from her eyes as the whip began to hit her body. " Ba-ugh ..Basara ..." Her eyes full of pity, compassion towards what Basara experienced right now however her body only spoke up about her bravery as she stride forwards in this mass of whirling whip. The whip would occasionally land on her body, hurting her, making her step backwards a bit yet it never made her falter. She strode forwards, uncaring about her own condition. " Basara .... I had swore once when you saved me, That I would follow you ... that I am yours." She again walked towards Basara albeit slowly. *Whap-Whap* " Basara, it was only for a moment... it was so short yet I know it was you..." * Crack * the wooden floor beside Anya had been hit ferociously by the darkness whip, It shattered and yet Anya paid it no heed. " It is stupid if I think about it and yet I think I know what I felt right now." " From your past, little to what you told me ... I could see the same loneliness I had experienced reflected in your eyes ..." " I wanted to save you from it, but I don''t know how... No I dare not to go against my Aunt" At this words, Merusa felt sinful, She was one of the reason the spirit felt wronged, causing the spirit running amok. Had she know that the words alone could drive the kind spirit into frenzy, surely she wouldn''t force her opinion on Anya. " However, I think the time have come for me to show you my resolve." " I wonder, was it how mother and aunt felt towards father" * Whap-Whap* " As I watch you resting, taking care of you during the night..." " Do you know how much pain and worry I felt when you didn''t wake up even after a night passed ? " The darkness surrounding Basara tried to make his vision more blur, dampening his hearing and soaking everything as it was a dreams and screaming that it was a mere lie, a lie ! However it all faltered and instead Basara vision began to return, his hearing also become clearer. * Wrackkk * The darkness giving up on tricking Basara now opted to use a full force on the girl. Anya body was hit by the whip, she flew from her place towards the walls. She then slipped down and fell. Staying on the ground. " Noooooo " Merusa were hysteric while the darkness began to whip in random as if to proclaim its success to protect Basara. This all happened for a while, to an extend that the villagers began to grow suspicious from the loud noise that come from the Chief house. They wanted to come closer and take a look however the eerie aura that spread around the chief''s house extinguished their curiosity. " Basara ..." Slowly, Anya stood up, shutting the hysteric Merusa down and attracted the attention of the darkness that surround Basara again. " Basara, hear this ...be my witness." Again, Anya a small teenager which had blood flowing from her head after getting thrown and hit the wall hard, strode forward. She walked steadily towards Basara and the darkness that had hurt her. Fear was nowhere in her eyes, only courage and determination. " For a day shall come when night last forever." " For when thy shall walk where darkness linger." " Striding onto the darkness, upon which scorched land await." " Whose wind shall accompany thou, whose shall be alone." " As the sky fall, and ground crumbled." " Where water was naught but poison and fire born smokeless." " I offer thee , as thy tread thy fate." " I offer thee, thy consolation." " I, Anya de Marathi offer thy, my humble self." As the last sentence of Anya left her mouth, the darkness that was warping around Basra disappeared. Light returned in Basara eyes. " I accept." *wiinngggg* Green lights descended, blinding all who saw it except Basara and Anya. The lights then entangled both of them, bounding their body, even possibly hearts as a tiny invisible green string formed between them before it merge itself into the thin air and vanished. How dare he not to accept this silly teenager wish when she had done so much for him just to bring him back. He had vaguely realized the meaning of Anya words. It was a spell to bound a spirit and its master, however this time around it was turned since the one who offered herself was Anya. Moreover this was one the highest and most powerful binding spell. It would grant the partner a part of the spirit power and affinity, without the need of direct contact as nature itself was proclaimed in the binding and became it witness. Alongside that, this bounding spell were rarely used as it bind the fate and life itself between master and the servant. In this case the master was Basara and the servant was Anya. It meant that the moment Basara died, so will Anya, however the reverse was different. How could Anya know this ? The answer lies at the moment Basara helped her in the forest during the hunting. Unbeknownst to him, He had blessed Anya with his power. Different from most of other people methods who forced to bound a spirits and attain selfish blessing from them. In the case of the common bounding method in this world, the spirit would normally ended up be forced to remain in contact if the User wished to use the spirit power which mean, there were the need to contain the spirit in something that the people would always carry around. Often then the spirit would be merged with a weapon or equipment, trapping them inside it forever. Anya newly earned knowledge and method was different. It was blessed and witnessed by nature itself. A method that was granted upon those who wished the well beings of the spirit itself despite the danger one would face. One of the many mysteries to become powerful in this world that One needed to discover and not told, as knowing before had would automatically fail the said person. The part or rather the system on how bumi operated that would fail if one was told had failed many, many who had tried. In the end, the power up method remains known only to few trough out the time. As for why Basara answer readily. It was because as his named called repeatedly by Anya. He had been awake for quite a time, witnessing Anya struggle including the moment she was slammed into the walls. He really regretted his action however, he had already lost control over his body. He felt like he was a third person capable only seeing Anya getting beaten. As for the chief ? He didn''t really care for him. He now know that in the chief''s eyes, he was only a tools. Why would Basra bother with the chief then ? Anya though was different. He had clearly seen her dedication and in this lonely word, where he understand nothing and could not speak to no one. He had often silently suffer during this time in this word, constantly remembering his past which for all cost he would like to avoid In the end it all changed as Anya showed up, even when they only know each other for two days, he know that she was like Kazama. This girl was what one would call a true friend. Sadly Basara guess didn''t really hit the mark. Kazama was a true friend, a brother. However Anya was different. Friend she could become yet she wouldn''t want to stay at that level all the time. The spell which had been completed had become a contract, a lifelong contract. Anya would become Basara servant companion, his will naturally would be hers. Anya true wish was to become Basara lovers, just like what her mother and aunt dream of her father, stubbornness in their blood runs thick. She sadly couldn''t do anything to achieve that right now and the only chance left was to become his servant companion. Hopefully from this position she can rose up and one day achieved her wish. " Anya ..." " Basara ..." both pair of eyes interlocked at each other as right now Anya was near Basara, in fact she had been standing in front of him. She then purposely suddenly lose her feet power and stumbled down forwards. Basara reacting quickly cached her and their eyes once again interlocked, this time closer. Seeing this sudden pink atmosphere that bloomed out of nowhere, Basara being inexperienced could only felt he finally acquired a true friends in this world. As for Anya, she felt her dream was becoming closer, however the wounded Merusa could only be stupefied. " Are they serious ...." Merusa know not what had transpired, but seeing the atmosphere around the two she felt like Anya had just proposed to the ''Sei'' in which he accepted. Woman intuition they call it, and she totally believe hers. Three people in the same room, had interpreted the thing that just happened differently, however a supposed to be rational sane man opinion was still left behind and he finnaly snapped, said " YOU MONSTER !!!! EVIL !!! ABOMINATIONS !!! LEAVE FROM MY VILLAGE !!!" He was scared beyond belief, even more so then when the ''Sei'' arrived and awaken. The darkness that had grasped his neck felt like a sword that had pierced his neck numerous time. The pain he felt flashed again and again in his mind. That chief comment had truly destroyed the sudden pink atmosphere that had grown out of nowhere in the desperation, however as if agreeing the whole village began shouting. " Monster ! Monster attack !" " It''s a goblin horde ! RUN !! Save your life !" the looming danger that was trailing the Okami vilage had finally arrived, the first act was played by the Goblin horde which had unanimously arrive, overstepping the yet again the village early warning system.
