《Lazarus: Jove's Tale》 Prologe: Luck? or not? Part one Hey... your friendly Derp-a-saurus Rex here... be warned this is my first fiction thing and it''s not PRed... well at least it is above 1000 words... also pls look for plot-holes and be cure to tell me plz anyways enjoy! Name: "talking"/*thinking* & [sounds] (A/N: author note) _________________________________________________________________________________________________ ??? POV I half hardheartedly checked the mail that came through my Data Band on my wrist hoping that I would get a favorable reply to join the exploration and colonization ship Lazarus. Sadly there were no new messages. [Sigh] can''t escape my Recent History exam... Oh well, might as review. (A/N: I wonder why this is here... Coincidence?) Roughly 3,500 cycles (A/N: 1 cycle = 1 year) ago: The Tyrans race was discovered by the Humans, who tended to keep to the edge of the galaxy due to the massive amount of radiation that the super-massive black hole at the center of our Galaxy, Pyrus bk-201. (A/N: Darker than Black? Anyone?) Surprisingly, the Tyrans, named after their home planet Tyra, are very similar to the Humans, and apart from the irises always being yellow and the whites of their eyes are always black. It took the Humans about a 100 cycles to bridge the language gap, and once that was done, the uplifting began. The uplifting started off very slow due to the Tyran¡¯s suspicions as the Humans looked highly similar to them. They believed that the god of mischief and lies, Ger, had made them in an attempt to infuriate the other two gods. While others believed the god of progress, Jove, made them to help us. The latter faction won the religious war that ensued and after 50 cycles true progress began. The uplifting finished around 400 cycles ago due to the Tyrans being in a metaphorical stone age compared to the era the Humans were in. About 300 cycles ago the exploration and colonization ship, Lazarus, was started and 10 cycles ago it had been finished. Then the school systems adopted all the curriculums that associate them and assign student to the department that they excel in. How this was detected was due to a mistake when the first body scanner was made. Instead of it reading the maximum abilities of your body as it was, it read what your mind and body was best suited to learning. This is part of the reason why I was in the Survivalists Corps. The SC is very much how it sounds; you are taught how to survive. Funny thing is it is a very common aptitude, however not many students survive the classes. Luckily I survived and am about to delve into our society¡ Unless I fail the Recent History exam¡ [Ding] (A/N: imagine one of those annoying ¡°You¡¯ve got mail!¡± sounds) I quickly check my DB (A/N: Data Band) hoping it is the reply from the survey I filled out for the possibility of being selected for the journey on the Lazarus. [Sigh] I check the mail and it simply is a message from my Mother asking if I am on my way to school¡ I quickly type my reply and rush out the door. As I arrive to school however, the sight of two really buff dudes wearing the standard suit with sunglasses greets me. They exude the aura of a bodyguard; they are built like Soot-ball (A/N: think American Football) players times two. Normally at a school no one like that is there but today seems special probably because the two gargantuan men are there. I happen to over hear them asking around for a ¡°Jove¡±. Unauthorized use: this story is on Amazon without permission from the author. Report any sightings.???: Crap that¡¯s me. I try to blend in as best as I can but some of the students beside me point at me when they get asked as I try to sneak by. Do I fight back? NO! I [sigh] for the third time today and hope I am not in trouble. The buff dudes simply grab my shoulders as I try to scoot past and guide me out of earshot of the other students. A few try to ¡®casually¡¯ over hear what they want to say but are shooed away by the buff dudes glaring at them through their sunglasses. I am lead into a black hover car that looks very expensive. On top of hover cars being hard to produce due to the Reverse Gravity Generator or RGGR or short and few models being made before the resources were redirected to project Lazarus. This car probably is worth 40k Jurors (A/N: 1 Jurors = 10 USD). One of the burly dudes opens the door as the other shows me the way in¡ ¡®Gently¡¯¡ Inside, a goddess in Tyrans form meets me. My mouth simply falls open as my eyes go wide. I wouldn¡¯t be able to describe her except for her skin being as pale as the snow, her hair as dark as a moonless night in the wilderness while seeming to flow from her head like a river flowing gently towards the sea stopping just below her shoulders. Her lips are a soft pink as the ends curl up in a small smile. Then I realize I seem to have lost control of my lower jaw as I snap it shut. She is wearing a suit similar to the burly dudes however hers has the Lazarus logo of a half a ship exiting a planet with three moons, I instantly recognize both, the planet is Tyra and the ship is Lazarus. Goddess: ¡°Hello Mr. Jove, quite the unique name you have. Do you know why I am here?¡± Jove: ¡°T-thanks, it is because I am half Tyran showing the progress the Humans and Tyrans have achieved and I can only guess why I am here.¡± Goddess: ¡°Oh, and what is that guess?¡± Jove: ¡°Well¡ That you¡¯ve fallen madly in love with me and had to contact me.¡± As I finished the goddess couldn¡¯t help but chuckle and I quickly glance at the buff dude who sat down to my left whole the other climbed in on the other side, when they did this I could not tell but it was probably when I was distracted by the goddess¡¯s beauty but both had a slight grin. Jove: ¡°But in all seriousness, I guess I made the cut huh?¡± Goddess: ¡°Yes, yes you did, in fact we are en route to the shuttle that will ferry you to the Lazarus now.¡± Jove: ¡°So I don¡¯t have to take that Recent History exam.¡± [Eye roll] ¡°Damn I studied for nothing¡¡± Earning me another smirk from the buff dudes and a slight chuckle from the goddess. Soon enough the Hover car stops and the goddess hands me a slip of paper that she materializes out of her DB. The sheet has all the procedures I need to go through on it as well as my room number on the Lazarus. As the hover car closes I quickly ask a question. Jove: ¡°I never did catch you name?¡± Goddess: ¡°It¡¯s Thea.¡± Jove: ¡°Hope we meet again soon Thea.¡± Thea: ¡°I am sure we will.¡± [Chuckle] Just as the Hover car takes off, I turn towards the shuttle and swipe my DB over the scanner to be checked to see if I am authorized to enter the one-way trip to the unknown. ______________________________________________________________________________________________ Hoped you liked it! rate comment subscribe I DON''T CARE, I love you all equally... just some more than others... Prologue Part 2: Not so lucky huh? Hey, hope you enjoy! ____________________________________________________________________ Jove POV Just as the Hover car takes off, I turn towards the shuttle and swipe my DB over the scanner to be checked to see if I am authorized to enter the one-way trip to the unknown. I head into the shuttle after a [ding] confirming I passed the inspection, to my left however someone was stuck in a suspension field. Probably, due to his papers not check out or he tried to sneak on. As I walked to the boarding platform I quickly messaged my mom telling her that I was selected to go on the Lazarus. I reviewed my inventory, a convenient feature of the DB that stored up to 1 kilo of stuff. I currently had 3 sets of clothing, excluding my survivalist uniform and regular class uniform. That was all I needed, my family isn¡¯t the wealthiest family, and in fact it is just scraping by. Thankfully, school is free to go to unless you wanted to go to a better school. Not soon after I finished inspecting my inventory, I heard the friendly [ding] of mail popping up. I accessed my mail and saw it was a reply from mom¡ however all it said was: Congratulations. I felt bad for mom, not only did dad leave her behind due to his death but now I am leaving too. I reply: love you mom, and sorry for leaving you. Just as I hit send on the holo-monitor that was projected from the DB I arrived at my destination: The shuttle. (A/N: the Shuttle: http://fc06.deviantart.net/fs70/i/2013/239/f/e/spaceship_by_ghchew-d6jx8ck.jpg) I passed quite a few people on the way there most were starring at me due to the defining feature I have: blue irises. Other than that I look like a normal Tyran. Mom always tells me that I have my father¡¯s eyes, or at least his irises. This resulted in a bit of bullying when I was younger but it was abandoned when I entered the Survivalists Corps at the age of 7 cycles because IF anyone survives the course they are monsters, in a sense. I asked one of the attendants where to sit. Attendant: "Sit in the seat where your room number is. You will be seated in the Survivalists Corps area located towards the front." Jove: "Thanks!" I walked to my seat, number 212; I noticed the seats were in pairs of two. Jove: *Well, I guess I have a room mate* I sat down, luckily I had a window seat and soon I dozed off. I was awoken by the sound of the pilot over the intercom. Pilot: ¡°Everyone please buckle your belts as we will start lift off in 3-¡± I checked to see if I was buckled in ¡°-2-¡±¡ ¡°-1-¡±¡ ¡°Lift off.¡± As soon as the pilot finished, I felt the thrusters kick in because me and everyone else became plastered to their seat. After a few moments the shuttle broke through the atmosphere, and a since of weightlessness over took me after the thrusters died down. I glanced out the window as the shuttle headed towards the massive exploration/colonization ship that is the Lazarus. (A/N: The Lazarus: http://www.igorstshirts.com/blog/conceptships/2012/dorje_bellbrook/dorje_01.jpg) Skipping the boringly long time it took to dock it was fun, for the most part. The passengers, myself included, had quite a laugh when a few fell over due to loss of circulation in their legs. We were guided around the ship, however the Survivalist Corps only were shown to the mess hall, the armory, the drop pod zone, which doubled as the escape pod zone, and the training hall. Contrary to popular belief, all of the non-crew members will be in cryogenic sleep, a form of suspended animation. After the tour we were injected with the drug that prevents the body from fully freezing and report to our rooms. I share a room with someone who I didn¡¯t/won¡¯t know yet¡ if at all. I lie in my sleeping pod and look at my reflection as I turn in for cryo-sleep. I have sandy blond hair, azure irises, white skin, and I am 6.2 lit (A/N: 1 lit = 1 foot) tall. Then everything fades to black. I am force ejected from my pod, in a daze I stumble to the door. The emergency lights are on and the blare of the alarm rings in my ears. After I reach the door, I hear the captain yell into the intercom. Captain: ¡°Everyone get to the escape pods a deep space anomaly has occurred¡ I repeat¡ This is not a drill... I repeat¡ This is not a drill... ¡°[Repeat] The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement. Still in a daze I palm the door scanner and the door hisses open. Everything is mayhem, People are running, screaming and panicking through the halls. However my luck holds out as I shamble into the maelstrom of people. Thankfully, the Survival Corps are located right next to the escape pods. So I don¡¯t have to go too far. I struggle for a good minute until I am shoved into an awaiting pod. I must have been blessed for as I get into a pod and the hatch seals shut, for escape pods are a single man pod, everything goes wrong. Something, probably the anomaly, rips through the hull and everyone is sucked into deep space. This is the last thing until I am put in a full suspended animation. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Narrator POV The Lazarus was designed to carry the most qualified off the dying planet called Tyra. This was however, not know to the public for they had a few thousand cycles until the planet did die. The voyage of the Lazarus was going smoothly until a wormhole opened up and expelled a few chunks of rocks, most likely asteroids. The Capitan saw the danger the asteroids possessed to the ship but there was nothing he could do as the asteroids appeared too close to be dogged or shot at. So he did the only thing he could. He woke all the passengers on board from the cryo-sleep, and sounded the alarm. The command bridge shook when the asteroids demolished the ship. The Captain¡¯s last thoughts were of the personnel on board and he hoped they escaped. Then the void embraces him in its cold and soft embrace. Most of the pods were semi-aware of their surroundings and they were made that way so that they could better respond to the dangers in space. However, Jove¡¯s pod didn¡¯t have the chance to boot properly so it couldn¡¯t avoid the pull of the wormhole and was sucked in. The pod drifted for a while after it exited the wormhole and soon after it collided with an asteroid. Yet again Jove¡¯s luck shined through as the pod simply imbedded it¡¯s self-10 feet into the asteroid instead of being completely destroyed. The pod slowly booted up over the course of 50 cycles and when it did it found it¡¯s self buried in an asteroid and having a very low supply of energy left due to the power draw of a full suspended animation. The pod then put out pulse to scan for minerals, what it found was that the whole interior of the asteroid is a radioactive metal and it had an approximate 20-mile radius. Thus the harvesting began, the pod had so much energy that it fuelled the full suspended animation for 2000 cycles and had more to spare. But just at the 2000 cycles mark was when the asteroid made contact with a planetary body that was eight times it¡¯s size. The asteroid was mostly consumed in the process, however there was enough left to form it¡¯s two moons. Impossibly Jove¡¯s pod survived. (A/N: must have rolled a nat-20¡) Where there was a barren planet previously, after 1000 cycles the planet was filled with all kinds of life. 4000 more cycles pass and Jove ¡®slept¡¯ for there was an error in his pod that made it so that it could only be opened from the outside. But during those 4000 years caused the pod to develop true sentience, and at first it tried to take over Jove¡¯s body but their were¡ complications with that so the AI decided to simply build a head peace to allow them to communicate, and may have tampered with Jove¡¯s Data Band and made it her true body. Then in an earthquake, a chasm formed and exposed the pod to the native populous. At first, the populous were wary of this mysterious thing (A/N: looks like http://www.rorymcmahon.com/Cryopod2.jpg but with thrusters and the glass is frosted over) and soon after it was studied. Finally 10 cycles later, an accident occurred and one of the scientists slipped and accidently pulled a lever that read ¡®hatch open¡¯ in Tyranscrit¡ [Hissssss] the hatch slowly opened releasing plumes of cold air into the room that had been built around it¡ ________________________________________________________________________________________ Phew, that was fun... not really, had to submit it twice due to my wacky wifi... Edit: will post another chapter tommorow... thought i put chapter one up but nooooooo fukin wifi..... Chapter 1 Sorry, it''s a bit of a short chapter... oh, well... Hope you enjoy! ___________________________________________________________________________________________ Scientist POV I had been working on studying this relic, seemingly from a past civilization, for roughly 3 suns without sleep. In my sleepiness I dropped a research paper that fluttered down near the relic. [Groan] I got up from my desk and walked down. In a sudden flair of dizziness I slipped on the paper and flung my arms out to steady myself. I grabbed ahold of something and put my weight on it and with a chunk it moved. I feared that I singlehandedly broke the relic and my superiors would kill me, this was mainly due to what happened next, the pod began to hiss as vapor trails flooded out. What happened next shocked me even more; a boy around 6.2 mesas with bleach blond hair containing flakes of ice in it fell out of the relic. Panicked, I caught him as he fell out due to the angle the pod was at. Not soon after a feminine voice sounded out in the lab, shocking me for no one else was here but me. Mainly due to it being the day that we discovered was the day a heavenly body fell, granting life to the planet. However we have yet to calculate where it fell. ???: ¡°Don¡¯t tell anyone about this!¡± Scientist: ¡°W-w-who is t-that!?!¡± ???: ¡°I am an AI ¡®responsible¡¯ for the bow in the pod, or as you refer it the ¡®relic¡¯.¡± Scientist: ¡°H-how can you speak our language?¡± AI: ¡°I analyzed the language, the boy won¡¯t be able to speak you tongue and probably will suffer major memory loss for he has been in suspended animation for a very long time.¡± Scientist: ¡°How long has he been sleeping exactly?¡± AI: ¡°In your terms he has been sleeping for 7060 planetary cycles.¡± I couldn¡¯t even reply. My mouth probably hit the floor. Oh, looks like the boy is stirring¡ need to get composed. Jove POV As I opened my eyes, I saw a gaunt face with pale skin, violet eyes, and oily black hair on this man. He wore glasses with circular lenses, had a baggy white lab coat and a pair of brown slacks on. Scientist: ¡°#*^%$*##&&*^***&*^^&*¡± (Hello, my name is Gerald and you are in my laboratory.) This story has been unlawfully obtained without the author''s consent. Report any appearances on Amazon. Then a feminine voice rang out and told me he had said, ¡°Hello, my name is Gerald and you are in my laboratory.¡± My memory was foggy; I remembered something about an emergency¡ needing to get out and then¡ nothing¡ Jove: ¡°Excuse me, but where are we.¡± The female voice acted as a translator and relayed info back and forth; I learned that I am underneath a school that he is an instructor of and that there are three main races besides the humans (A/N: they seem to be everywhere¡). The lizard men (http://fc06.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2010/153/4/7/Lizardman_by_Yamatohekatsue.jpg), the Austral (http://fc03.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2013/318/5/d/proud_fallen_angel_alukiel___reg_by_davidgaillet-d6u7nv4.jpg), and the Vaalor (http://fc01.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2012/087/b/0/demon_warlock_by_maclq-d4u7a5v.jpg). The Vaalor were special though, for they couldn¡¯t die, and were bound to their armor. They didn¡¯t breed per say, but instead fabricated new life. However it couldn¡¯t be done alone, they needed a partner to complete it. The Austral were winged humans that were divided into two factions: white and black. What faction they belonged to could be determined by the color of their wings. The two factions were constantly at war, only recently was a treaty signed due to the high casualties of both sides. The lizard men used to be the most war crazy and savage race, however, ever since the los of their leader they have become aimless. The school that I am below is massive; it spans 20 vailins (A/N: 1 vailin = 10 kilo meters). However the school is considered neutral territory due to it¡¯s strict dedication to progress. Also it seems that Gerald is adopting me and forcing me to attend school¡ not again¡ wait what did I mean by ¡®not again¡¯¡ well at least I remembered my name. i apologize... I will continue this fiction and VW as well... my father passed away and he was the main driving force behind my writing. I have been lost since and, honestly i cant stop crying when i view my stories... again i am truly sorry. but like i said i refuse to abandon something i started. just give me a month to grieve...
