《Gaia》
Prologue part 1
Ah, looks like I died. I thought I would feel more regret about dying at the age of 24, but surprisingly I feel satisfied. Considering I can¡¯t see any distant light showing the way to heaven or a distant inferno showing the way to hell, I guess I am in some kind of void. It¡¯s been three hours now and I feel so bored. I tried to sleep to at the very least be sure this is not a dream, guess what, I can¡¯t even sleep in here. I¡¯m going to spend a long time here aren¡¯t I, might as well think back on what brought me here. To start from the beginning would be appropriate; I was born in the Europe, 2098 right in the third world war. About two billion people died on the first day with China, US and Russia firing at each other with all the remaining nukes they had in their arsenal. All three countries were taken out that day with almost everyone losing contact with each other thanks to the EMPs released by the nukes. A person would think that those who survived would try to help each other in order to survive the nuclear holocaust, but in the end we are still humans and when we get a situation we¡¯re not able to respond to, we panic. What we did, to call it panicking would be an understatement. Riots, killings, genocide, famine, radiation sickness, mutations and war. Every country went to war against one another, it did not matter how long they knew each other if they were close they would attack. I was born right in the middle of this in one of the numerous refugee camps, I spent most of my early years starving, people dying around me, moving to a new camp every two months and looking back I am very surprised I managed to survive this long. One day while I was eight years old I was forced awake by a lot of noise outside my tent. What I saw out there forced me awake and vigilant, after my fifth birthday we were raided by bandits that killed my parents and forced my uncle to take care. My uncle was not cruel or affectionate toward me, but he acknowledged I was there and gave me food when I wanted some. Enough about my uncle now what I saw there was soldiers with some weird circles as their mark and they were everywhere rounding up people. I instantly hid under my thin blanket hoping they would not find me. Unfortunately my hope was for naught and one of the soldiers found me. It was hard to see what he looks like thanks to years of malnutrition, but what surprised me the most what that he looked healthy, clean and his eyes did not look like he just found prey, but filled with pity. Me being eight years old at the time was of course scared of my life and started screaming.
Support creative writers by reading their stories on Royal Road, not stolen versions. The soldier was startled, tried to calm me down and when he was not able to he went out and came back with my uncle. My uncle explained to me that everything was okay and that we could finally rest. We both started crying tears of joy, my uncle showing more emotions then he has the last three years. When we were done, we were shown to go to a tent with a red symbol on it. Their I met an old man that showed an aura of warmth and safety something I had not felt for a long time. The person did things I never would have thought possible, he fixed my eyesight and made me healthy, this filled me with determination and showed me the path I wanted to take I would become a person like him, one that was calm, one you could feel safe with, a person that can heal.
After that I learned who they were, the called themselves Gaia from the Olympus Republic. Olympus was formed when the Nordic countries, Great Britain and Germany banded together because of their close. Ever since the war started, they have been expanding by making new borders, allies and finding refugees to take back to safety.
Sixteen years later and I can finally help people just as I was helped long ago. 12 October 2122 became the day where I could not be more happy, it also turned out to be the day before I died.

PROLOGUE PART 2
I really feel like an old man thinking about like this but I got nothing better to do except for agonizing over all the novels I won¡¯t be able to read anymore. Reading all those novels, I always thought I might end up here, but I at the very least want know how I died. I remember everything like it was yesterday even though I have no sense of time here. I guess going over it one last won¡¯t hurt.
That day was my first time on the job working as a medic. I chose to be a medic thanks to the person that helped me that day. It turned out I had some talent for medicine, well I wasn¡¯t the best in my class but I was praised to be the best to adapt in unexpected situations and stay calm. These characteristics are what gave me a spot on the first expedition to America after the war. They wanted me and other doctors that would be adapt quickly to the environment there. We left early in the morning with a plane specially built for this expedition. A few hours after boarding the plane, we managed to feel some turbulence on the plane, which was weird considering the plane, was built to minimize it to protect our equipment. I got a little worried and looked outside the window, it was night and it should be dark considering were the only plane over the ocean right now. But for some reason I could see two strange lights out there and they were getting bigger! After that I felt something sharp piercing me and a feeling like I was being burnt alive then nothing.
In the end I woke up here, in the void, doing nothing but think about what happened back there and play some games, because for some reason I found a phone in my hand filled with games. I¡¯m just as confused as you are but I stopped thinking about it long ago.

¡°Yes, new high score!!!¡±
¡°Next please.¡±
What was that? Why can I suddenly see a light in the distant after that voice? The light was weird it had a blue color and a calming effect on me. The light engulfed me I expected heaven because of the light but I never thought it would look so plain. White walls, white wooden desk, white chair, white roof and floor, to make it simple absolutely everything was white even the clothes I have on me.
¡°*Cough*ehem.¡±
What was that sound. For the first time I actually look like right in front of me, greeted with a sight of an ordinary man in a business suit, short blond hair, and average face, thin but not all bones, and for some reason has a nameplate with the initials A. N. GEL, I almost started chuckling inwardly before the man interrupted me.
¡°My name is Argus Nathaniel Gel and I would like you to take this situation seriously and let me go to the process without interruption unless you want to ask a question. If you have one now you can ask me before we begin¡±
¡°Why am I here?¡± Is what I decided to ask after thinking about what I need to know right now.
¡°You are here because it was decided that we would let one lucky soul decide what he wanted his next life without limitations. And you are the soul chosen randomly among trillions of other¡±

Prologue part 3
Prologue part 3
Some people might have been happy about being chosen to decide what you want to do with your life. Me? I got suspicious about what he said about being chosen at random, almost as if they did this because they were bored but I learned in the refugee camps that if you get something free you should take it while you can and not question why you got it. That is at least what my uncle always said everyday of my life and it¡¯s hard to think of a reason not to accept.
I¡¯m just going to pretend I never heard him say that.
¡°Congratulations for winning sir, so what do you want to do in your next life?¡±
¡°What are my options?"
"You can choose race, skills, traits, affinities and more. Only the world you are going to is different from your world. It''s a world filled with sword, magic and many different races. Here is a list over all the skills I can give you."
I look over the options I was given and started to think. Almost my entire life I have trained in order to help and heal people and it sort of saddens me not to be able to use the things I¡¯ve been thought. I''ve decided I am going to choose. I picked any skill that could help me to work as support, skills for healing, cooking, buffing, foraging, tailoring and more. When I looked at what I picked I started to frown a little, if I only choose skills like these then I''ll have no combat ability. I start to look over skills that will make me good at magic, because why not since I''m already going to a world with magic might as well learn about It. I choose to have affinity to all elements, the basic spell to every element and a few other things that have a fancy name that might help. I can¡¯t help not thinking I¡¯m doing something wrong but I wasn¡¯t all that into the fantasy genre while I was still alive. Well now to pick a race.
Why is there only one race to pick and of all the possible races a fantasy world can give me it has to be a slime, I might not now a lot about fantasy but I know that they are considered the weakest. I have to ask Argus about why I can only pick one.
¡°Argus why can I only pick one race and why is it the slime race?¡±
¡°The options you have been given are things that you can you choose. The only option that you can¡¯t choose are race, which is influenced by who you are. Usually you get two or more options but the less options you got the more chance there is for you to get an exclusive race. This is to make things more interesting for both you and us.¡±
I have already accepted that this some kind of entertainment for them and chose to ask.
This story has been stolen from Royal Road. If you read it on Amazon, please report it
¡°But why a slime, can you explain that to me?¡±
¡°Ok, in this world slimes are known for being adaptable to any unknown environment more then any other race and since this is a very interesting race that have had very little change in what they since they were created, we kind of want you to make things interesting. Therefore, you could say it is based partly on who you are and our boredom. Would that be enough for an answer?¡±
After his explanation I start to get little tired of him saying all this is happening because they are, thou I have no idea who they are. Come to think about it why don¡¯t I feel hungry or something, I was about to ask Argus why, until I remembered. Oh that¡¯s right, I¡¯m dead it just that this situation is so different from what I thought this afterlife was going to be. I decide to just choose the slime race and get this all over with.
¡°I¡¯m done now. What¡¯s next?¡±
After I ask this question, Argus suddenly smiled a little and presses a small button on his desk, that I for some reason popped out of nowhere on the previously empty desk. A door pops up looking like some of those old wooden doors we had before the war started and the door is of course colored white like everything else. I blink for a second to be sure that I¡¯m seeing right but for some reason I find myself in front of the door now with Argus holding it open for me.
¡°Before you go I should tell you that this world is named Gaia and consist of seven continents. The technology is at the medieval age with some modern things existing thanks to magic. You will find yourselves with this information and more inside your mind when you wake up. We don¡¯t want you entirely helpless or it will take way to much time considering you got the weakest race. Good luck and try not to die within three seconds. Remember to run at once since you¡¯re going to one of the more dangerous places. Good luck!¡±
That was the last thing I heard before he pushed me inn without giving me a chance to protest about the last thing he said. When he pushed me inn I felt a strange pull, the pull got stronger and stronger until I couldn¡¯t take it any longer and started to feel my consciousness fading. I suddenly started thinking about what Argus said about running the second I woke up there, which I find weird considering slimes don¡¯t even have legs. I chuckle a little to myself before everything went black.

(Author''s note: Now to work on the main storyline.)
Chapter 1
Chapter 1
Gaia, a planet roughly 2.5 times bigger then Earth with two moons named Lumina and Grandia. A day there last around thirty hours with seven days making up a week, five weeks for a month and 13 months for a year. Gaia is made up of seven continents, each with their own special environment.
The northern continent which mostly consist of snow and tall mountains is mostly inhabited by being that are adopted to the cold like ice trolls, snow wolfs and different type of ice demons. However, because of the cold temperature a person can rarely find a big population of only one race, because some of the more intelligent races decided to found a kingdom with a yuki-onna (snow-woman) as queen because of them living long lives and also having strong ice magic, making the kingdom stable and safe. The kingdom was named the Gelado matriarchy after the first queen Lavernia Gelado. The place is fairly isolated, thanks to the tall mountains and snow storms in the area making trade and travel hard.
The eastern continent is inhabited by races that needs to live close or in water; this is possible thanks to the continent being mostly underwater. There is no country, but many tribes that live there some being nomadic while some of them make a more permanent place. Though all the races living there might look easy to conquer is something you should not think. This was proven when a human kingdom decided to invade the continent because of a rumor that huge amount of gold exist there. However, the invasion plan ended in failure since they intercepted the boats on the way there and either sunk them or redirected them back home. Many of the races despite not being the same always unite against a common threat, thanks to a kingdom in the past that tried to enslave or kill most of them, many races died out during that time because the tribes were very far away from each other so news spread slowly. When they somehow survived thanks to another country invading the first country they managed to regroup and drive out the few people that were not recalled back to the country to defend. Today they have rebuilt from the war and made a warning system in case they are ever invaded again.
The western continent is mainly populated by dwarfs and the ancient dragons, The place is sparsely populated because the continent is almost made up of mountains. This has made it so that only dwarfs with their strong bodies used to great heights and some brave adventurers. There is a dwarven kingdom kind of but it is there just to make sure that no one abuses the resources and to make sure that no one disturbs the dragons. The ancient dragons are an exception because they can live anywhere but choose to live there so they can live in peace. Ancient dragon is a species that only consists of two individuals, one is the embodiment of the seven sins and the other is the embodiment of the seven virtues. An ancient dragon also have seven children each called true dragons each one representing either a sin or a virtue. They are there to keep balance in the world and are only there to observe and make it so that chaos and order are in harmony.
The eastern continent is mostly plains and forest and is where the beastmen originate. There is an abundance of wildlife there that made it the ideal place for beastmen to live in. There is no kingdom but there is council representing the different tribes, the council was made in order to stop war between different tribes and make them recognize each other as equals, which mostly works except for a few battles here and there.
If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.
The floating continent, a landmass as big as Australia is inhabited by avian species such as angels and harpies. It is very isolated thanks to it moving with the moon Grandia across the sky. They do get in contact with other races thanks to transportation gates being installed in key places but they are expensive to use so they are used 2-5 times a year at most.
The demon continent is considered a continent even though it is underground. The continent is under one person¡¯s rule, which is the demon lord. He has ruled there for the past 3.000 years and very few people can beat him. However, because of his strength being mostly fueled by demonic energy, which only exist in large quantities underground, makes it so that he cannot attempt any large-scale invasion on other places.
The central continent is a place that all races have traveled to and established cities and kingdoms, spending huge amount of resources and people. This is done because of the central continent being the large and unexplored, with only half of the continent being explored the last 700 years since the first explorers sat foot her. The central continent is considered the most dangerous continent because of its diversity with something from every from every continent. Things like drakes, trolls and demons exist there in many different variations. Almost every race lives there, which made so that many different type of kingdoms, republics and democracy¡¯s exist there.
In a forest not far from the Vielfalt republic, knows as simply the large forest, we can see that a large amount of mana was being collected in to one place. Something like that is not unusual because some demonic species are born this way. What was unusual was that the mana was forming some sort of slimy substance.
When the mana was done collecting the slimy substance fell down and formed a puddle. If a person looked closely, you could see that the slimy substance was starting to form some sort of ball and ended up with what a person in this world would call a slime, the weakest creature of all.
No one could ever guess that a slime of all things would be born, the amount of mana that was collected was enough to summon an arch demon, only the fourth strongest type of demon in the world. This slime may look useless today but one day it will become one of the most famous adventurer in history with names like the Saint of Gran Torino or the healer of a thousands wounds. All these thing it will be known as in due time, as soon as it managed to find a way out of the forest.

(Authour''s note: I write ''it'' because a slime is genderless until it chooses a gender, which is only possible if it is intelligent. A slime with a gender is considered a rare creature)

Chapter 2
¡°Huh, where am I? What is this place? Why is everything so big?¡±
I ask myself these questions when suddenly my head start hurting, it felt like I was about to pass out, my vision started fading, but the pain went away suddenly just as fast as it came. When I finally managed to calm myself down, I started to think, the last thing Argus told me ¡®we will download all the information you¡¯ll need when you get there¡¯ or something. When I thought about it, I felt all of a sudden load of information flooding into me. Things about the state of the world, what the system is, where I currently am right now and what I¡¯m capable of.

¡°Wow¡±
When the information started talking about some kind of system, I started to think that they were making fun of me, but seems like it exist and mine have weird numbers. Wisdom and intellect is high probably because of my education in my old world. I don¡¯t seem to have any stamina, does that mean a slime doesn¡¯t get physically tired, nice! Strength, agility, attack and defense seems to be highly influenced by my slime form, I really hope I can get some sort of human form one day. Looks like skills and magic affinities that I picked were properly selected. My luck is high probably because I won a chance to be reincarnated but seriously, my race is a divine slime, that¡¯s sound weird, I can probably find out more about this race when I get to a city. Wonder how I¡¯m even supposed to get to a city. I think about such things when a big sound disturbs my thoughts.

*Crash* (It¡¯s hard to write sounds)
¡°What was that?!¡±
It¡¯s then the words Argus told me before resounds in my head ¡®start running as fat as you can when you wake, wouldn¡¯t want to see you too soon¡¯. As soon as I finish that thought, I start to run or should I say crawl as fast as I can in my slime form. Oh, didn¡¯t really look around when I woke up but it seems they set me at a place with many hiding spots, it¡¯s almost like they knew I would get distracted. There are many spots I could crawl for but choose a spot under a tree, the tree look bigger then any tree I¡¯ve ever seen, even bigger then the ones shown in the history books. But that is not what interest me what I think is interesting is that I can¡¯t see color everything is either grey or wh¡
*Crash*
Oh, I almost forget that I¡¯m crawling for my life here better hurry.
I squeeze myself in a small tunnel under the tree, luckily it¡¯s empty and seems that no one actually lives here, nice to now that I won¡¯t be killed tonight. I start to get comfy when the culprit of my worries shows up, the creature looks like a rabbit only that it¡¯s seven times bigger, has sharp claws, bloodshot eyes, and teeth that could rip through metal. The creature or rabbit to make it simple start sitting down and looks like it starts to sleep. But I¡¯m kinda skeptic if it¡¯s asleep or not since it still has one eye open probably to make sure yhat no one gets close to it while it sleeps. When I look to where it sat down and then up to see that it¡¯s actually getting kind of dark or I feel like it¡¯s getting dark, it¡¯s a feeling hard to explain so I just go with it. I start getting comfy in my humble home, shut my non-existent eyes and start dreaming.
