《Oblivion World》 Chapter 1 - Summoning I wake up in the morning with a smile on my face. today was finally going to be the day where all the pieces fall into place. my master plan I concocted to get me alone in a room with the girl I had a crush on so I could confess my feelings without being judged or laughed at. at school I am the opposite of popular. I am a fly on the wall that nobody even notices. I would FINALLY be able tell her how I feel, I walked across to my apartments bathroom and looked into the mirror. "You can do this, YOU CAN DO THIS!!!! *Cough**Cough* so Sara. I know I am not the most popular kid around and the only thing I am unrivalled at is my mental ability but... would you go out with me" I asked the bathroom mirror... wow that makes me feel so much more creepy then I thought it would, I saw people do it in anime and manga to work up the courage and ask but now I just feel like a stalker. I quickly exited the bathroom and get ready for school. once done I exit my apartment and go to school like any normal person except in what I generously refer to as stealth mode as nobody even glances at me. I enter the classroom and sit in my seat. today would be the day I finally confessed. the teacher walked in to start the class. I waited to hear the words of glory. "Daniel and Sara. you will be on cleaning duty today" And there it was. the teacher just put me and Sara in the storage room together to get the cleaning equipment. after class where the teacher forgot I was there and didn''t hand me my homework I got up out of my seat just to be ignored by Sara as she exited the class without me to get the cleaning supplies. damn it, I started to run after her but then I saw a kid and a teacher arguing the class at the end of the hallway. Sara also stopped to look, the Kid looked angry and pulled something out of his bag. I did not realise what it was until it was to late. *BANG* The second year student had shot the teacher and started to smile. Sara screamed drawing his attention to the 2 witnesses. he pointed the gun at Sara and fired it, I did not even hear the gun shot, I turned to look at someone from another class was playing hero and put the kid with a gun in a sleeper hold. I was saved but I walked over to Sara''s dead body, lying on the ground, she wasn''t anything special to anyone else, she had glasses, short brown hair, happy all the time but like me, not many people paid attention to her. I did as she was so kind, she even talked to me and noticed me when so many people couldn''t. I had a tear on my face and I felt like my life was shattered... I didn''t even get the chance to confess my feelings. she was shot through the head at the brain just above the spine. died before she could feel any pain. "sara....no..." was the only words I could say, teachers exited their classrooms and saw the horror show, one of them came over to me and saw the body and me crying while looking at it with shock on my face. the next thing that happened was I disappeared. I vanished. I looked around and I was sitting in a room, it was dark all around me but I was sitting in a small patch of light.... sitting in front of someone who was also inside of this small amount of light. "Hello there. I am sure you have a lot of questions but I don''t have the time to explain. I need you to take this and break the beacon of darkness" the man said while handing me a glove and pushing me into the darkness. sure enough I could see slightly, it looked like it was night, I was in a forest but there was no sound, no moment, nothing. I saw a strange floating black orb in front of me sending a beam of black into the cloudy sky above. I put on the glove and touched placed my hand on the orb... nothing happened... what was I even doing? I was most likely just going crazy after watching Sara being shot by that damn GUN. I felt something appear on my left hand, conveniently the same hand I had the glove on. I looked to the what could have been seen as an average white glove but my hand now had a gun in it. it was a handgun. A pitch black smith and wesson m&p 9mm. the same gun used to shoot Sara. is this supposed to be some kind of joke? I pointed the gun at the black orb and shot it, there was a crack. I kept shooting for countless times, I strangely found I did not run out of ammo but I felt a little exhausted. that was just annoying. I shot the orb and it finally shattered, all that changed was that dark beam stopped being shot into the sky. I looked around and everything looked equally terrifying. the trees had no leaves, the soil had no grass. the entire place looked lifeless. just being here I felt sad and kept on remembering Sara being shot vividly in my head. after a while I felt the sun on my back, I looked up and the clouds around me were clearing to let the sun shine, for some reason I felt a spark of hope inside of my chest. "Well done" I heard an echoing voice say. "I am the god of Weapons, Warious I am one of the many gods that need your help. I need you to free this world of the darkness that plagues it. the Oblivion Orbs that are scattered across the lands are preventing the power of gods from assessing them, but through you we have a point of convergence. destroy as many orbs as you can. also. head to the village located to the west. it is within the lands you saved so the people there will be free" Warious said to me from what felt like the sky above me but I saw nothing but the sun and the blue sky there. I felt like I was being pulled to a location to my left so I just walked that way. my gun was no longer with me, I wonder what is up with that? oh well, I kept walking until in the distance I saw a small village with around 100 buildings in it. all made with wood and surrounded by a wooden wall with a gate. there were 2 guards in front of the gate holding spears with simple armour that looked to have been something I saw in history class. as soon as they saw me in the distance one of them ran into the village, beyond that I couldn''t see was there were thins obstructing my view. I walked up to the village and when I got close the guard pointed his spear at me. he looked scared of me. his armour is green leather and some metal plating with a simple spear. "Stay back you monster" The guard said to me, his spear still aiming at me. I looked at him confused. I just SAVED him and yet I am the monster? something isn''t right. around 5 more guards come through the gate, some with swords and some with spears. "I am no monster" I said simply but they did not react to me or listen to me. "I removed the darkness from this area" I said simply but they did not react to me or listen to me. "Drop your weapons, he is far to powerful for you to beat" said an old man with a wooden walking stick as he slowly approached me. "A Divine Weapon? truly a blessing" the old man said before waving off his guards. "So are you the one who will fight back the darkness and the monsters surrounding it?" The old man said and I nodded. "I was asked by the god Warious" I said making them calm down. "Then we have much to discuss" The old man said. "I am Lostan the Village Chief of Itrin, the last non corrupted humans, speak with me in my home for a moment if you would be so kind" Lostan said to me with a wry smile while walking inside the village. I smiled and followed. I was told to go here for a reason I suppose. as entered the village people kept giving me a lot of stares. the buildings were simple and made of wood. I guess stone buildings are saved for bigger villages or important structures. I walked into Lostan''s house and immediately noticed something, for a village chief his house is one of the smaller houses, not saying it is small as it is bigger then most houses in my world. but it is still strange how the smallest house I could see was the Village Chief''s house. "So are you going to explain to me all the stuff Warious couldn''t?" I asked and the village chief sat down at a table and I sat down on the chair opposing his. his smiling face then took a turn for the worse as he now looks upset. "I am guessing you have encountered one of this planets 56 Oblivion Orbs. well 55 now that you have destroyed one making us free. you are needed still to save more people, this land has few creatures and villages. you are at the south continent. you wouldn''t have had much of a fight to remove this Oblivion Orb but the ones to the west and north continents are worse then they are here..." Lostan continued to explain, this continent was full of grassy plains and forests. the East continent was famous for its beaches and islands. the north continent is famous for its mines and underground resources. the West continent is the most dangerous, famous for its oceans, there is no land mass at all. but most importantly the centre continent, it is a mountain. a mountain that goes straight into the sky higher then any other. he also explained to me what the hell Mana was. he then explained to me why they have an Adventurers Guild instead of having an army killing all monsters and calling them an odd job service. because in this world adventurers can get stronger then an army can... why they need a normal person like me is crazy. until I realised I have guns and they don''t. should be simple enough. "Lastly. please destroy the Oblivion Orb the the south before any other. that is where our village guardian is, the village guardian can even help you on your quest to save our world" Lostan said to me almost begging me to save this person. I guess I would have to destroy that orb some time so why not now. "Sure, I can leave right away" I said with a smile and he looked relieved. I got up and prepared to rescue the Village Guardian. nothing better to do I guess "But first. if I am not being to much of a bother. why do you look so sad?" Lostan said to me and I flinched. I just ignored the painful feeling and bottled it up, if I broke now an entire world would die, some things are more important then how I feel... I exited the house without answering him and headed off to break another Oblivion Orb +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ I hope you like the introduction chapter. Chapter 2 - Oblivion Orb Guardian I exited the walls the people had build, looking back they had a strange glowing writing spanning the entire length of the wooden wall. I think they were called Runes. maybe if I put them on my gun my gun will be stronger? maybe but I don''t write in runic yet. I continue walking until I start to see dark clouds in the distance that gives off a feeling of hopelessness and destruction just by looking at it. and I have to go to the centre of that through who knows what kind of monstrous demons from the dark side of hell. "grenade" I said aloud trying to focus on how you make a grenade and sure enough one spawned into my hand, I tested it out and it worked like a grenade does. who would have thought? I prepare 4 grenades before I enter and a smoke grenade in case I need a quick escape from something. I also held onto my pitch black smith and wesson m&p 9mm and walked into the destroyed dark forest. as soon as my foot touched the ground void of life I saw something dart towards me, I shot it before it got close but on further inspection it was a squirrel, one with razors for teeth that look like they would cut through bone as easily as a hot knife through butter. its eyes were missing and it looked slightly demonic with its shape, almost like it was designed to kill. I sighed and kept moving, as fast as a squirrel is it still isn''t faster then a bullet. I kept my gun at the ready and my eyes focused like a hawk and my ears listening for any signs of life. sure enough every 5th step a squirrel jumped out at me, shot dead the moment one jumped out however I did not let my guard down, I was in a foreign world and assume I can''t get back to my own unless I break all these orbs. go back to what? I don''t know my self, I suppose I will just have to try and move on, eventually. "GGRRRROOOOOOOOOoooo!!!!" I heard a loud roar from the distance that felt like it would tare me apart through pressure alone. I looked to where it came from and sure enough there was a dark beam being shot to the sky in that direction. if only I knew how to make a good sniper, to bad I guess. I walked further forwards towards the oblivion orb. I approach the orb and it is within sight, that is good thing. the giant monster squirrel that is the size of a truck and looks like a evil monster is not a good thing. "GGRRRROOOOOOOOOoooo!!!!" the squirrel monster roared again, it did not look to have noticed me but I just had to... "could you get a little louder, I think the people on the other end of the planet didn''t hear you clearly enough" I said with a grin while preparing a grenade. the creature turned to me and a strange dark aura started to come off of it, it charged at me with lightening speed, I shot at it but I missed, I never thought this would happen. it was not faster then a bullet don''t get me wrong, it was just faster then my finger could pull the trigger. it kept charging towards me and I threw my grenade, the idiotic thing just straight up ate the grenade, I jumped back as the creature exploded. or at least I thought it did. the creature was unharmed but looked angry once the smoke cleared. "could you swallow like 4 more of those tasty exploding rocks?" I asked already planning my next course of action. the creature dashed around me and started to circle me, I summoned a land mine in front of the creature and another explosion rumbled through the air sending the ash littering the ground up into the air, while the creature was distracted I shot through the things head with a barrage of 10 bullets. it was simple enough, or it would have been if not for even without any brain the creature still stood up. how do you kill that thing? "GGRRRRROOOO*BOOM*" as the creature roared I tossed the 3 remaining grenades I had from earlier in its mouth and sure enough it no longer had a head. I sighed with relief as I now turned around and walked over to the oblivion orb. after 3 steps I heard something fast approaching me from behind and I ducked beneath the giant squirrels claws. turning back it still had no head but it was still moving. "Warious damn it, you couldn''t have given me any more information on how this glove works?" I asked as I started trying to summon more weapons, but no, the only gun I could have was the smith and wesson m&p 9mm. I tried to modify it but all I could do was make it shoot slightly more powerful bullets and slightly faster rate of fire. did not help much when I am fighting a creature much faster then me and kill me in one hit. I kept avoiding to much damage by placing mines all around me and shooting the creature as soon as it was stunned from a mine. I guess that is all I could do. after repeating the pattern a few times I noticed it was not getting more hurt, its head was mostly regenerated. I had about enough and shot at the Oblivion Orb, wondering if it would do any good but the creature threw itself in the way of the bullets, I kept shooting and shooting but it was the purfect meat shield, I kept adding more power to the gun and learning a few more tricks with each shot, the accuracy was getting much better and the bullets were moving noticeably faster. I am more shocked I can keep up with the bullets though, looking around myself I have a strange aura around me, part of it is pure darkness and the other part is glowing white, ignoring that for now I was finally shooting through the bullet sponge and hit the Oblivion Orb. "took long enough" I said while destroying the orb behind the creature. the orb got a small crack and then I felt a wave of screwed, I turned around just to see how screwed I was while still shooting at the orb, there was a small army of squirrels. I could shoot the squirrels however then the giant squirrel will tare my apart, but so will the squirrels if I do nothing. I then realised even with my gun hand being busy I still had a smoke bomb, I dropped the smoke bomb while walking forwards towards the giant squirrel, the smoke was no ordinary smoke, it was tear gas, when I was right next to the giant squirrel I stopped shooting for a moment and threw a grenade at the oblivion orb, the squirrel was about to attack me but froze and turned to see its blunder as the oblivion orb went up in smoke. the sky then started to clear and the giant squirrel did not vanish, why was I questioning this? because all other wild life did vanish and was replaced with normal creatures, the giant squirrel started to change, it changed into a human girl which my best guess would say my age, she was fully naked and had short brown hair. I just ignored her and walked away. 3.... 2..... 1...........? wait I could have sworn. "HEY!!! WHAT''S THE BIG IDEA? do you leave all innocent sleeping girls alone naked in the forest or is this a special occasion?" shouted the girl angrily as she stopped pretending to be asleep. "I was told a guardian would be here, nobody else" I said simply and kept walking away, wait does that mean what I think it means? "I am the guardian" she snapped back at me. "I am Olivia Burrows, a nature guardian unrivalled in power or beauty and...HEY WAIT!!!" Olivia started saying but I kept walking back on my way to the village. "Don''t you understand what I am saying?" Olivia asked me with a serious tone as she walked in front of me with an angry face stretching her arms wout blocking my path. "you were saying something?" I questioned with the best serious face I could muster. *Whack* Olivia hit me into a back flip and landing face down into the dirt. "sorry, sorry, but can you get some clothes on first if you want to talk" I said and she looked down and turned around red in the face as if she did not even realise herself. "monster" Olivia said to me with an angry face. "first you save me and you expect me to believe you don''t find me attractive? I am actually being nice here, most people would love the luxury of being around me" Olivia said with a smile. "I have only known you for all of 5 minuets and can already say with certainty that the only reason you are resorting to someone you have not met before is because nobody else can stand you" I said in a monotone before continuing my walk back to the village. "...shut up idiot" Olivia said to me as she walked off in her own little pout. she is annoying. "will you at least tell me the real reason, you saw my fully naked body and your heart beat did not change, that is not normal for teenagers like us" Olivia said with a curious tone. I stopped walking. again trying to repress bad memories and trauma. "I saw the person I liked and the only person who even paid attention to me die in front of me and there was nothing I could do about it" I said with a blank face, Olivia was shocked but before she could say anything I was already walking off again. she then caught up within a second or so. "I am sorry if I came off as insensitive then" Olivia mumbled. she looked off to one side like she had just been told off. oh well. "anyway for saving me I will repay what you have done for me. please allow me to go with you and help you destroy the rest of the oblivion orbs, with that divine glove we should have no problem" Olivia said making me look as her shocked slightly, how did she know it was a divine glove? it looks simple and plain. I will ask later. "fine, I allow that much" I said simply as I continued with a light stroll across the newly formed grass. taking in the fresh air and looking towards the direction of the village. I still have to wonder, if this was an easy oblivion orb to destroy, what is a hard one? ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ one chapter per month, this fiction doesn''t have much time to be worked on as the two of us who write, script and proof read it are currently living in different time zones. sorry for the inconvenience. however this is only temporary so fear not. the release of chapters will speed up eventually.
