《Li'Kyes the Scaled Hero [HIATUS]》 Prologue: A God wants us to reincarnate as heroes? Prologue: A God wants us to reincarnate as heroes? It was supposed to have been a normal school trip to a nearby country, but it ended up being our death. Now, I know you are confused, but so am I. A moment ago, I was just lazing in my seat while listening to my favorite song, when suddenly an explosion made the plane crash. The day started as any other, waking up, going to the bathroom, eating breakfast. The only different thing about it was the luggage prepared by the door. The school trip is a tradition, so we were hardly the first to go on this trip. I left the house without saying farewell to my family, since it was still early in the morning. I went to the meeting place where we were picked up by a bus that would take us to the airport. As always, the majority of the class stood in one group and were chatting about who knows what, and as the bus arrived, I was the last one to enter, and got a lone seat. As usual I was ignored, but that didn¡¯t matter to me, I actually preferred being like a ghost and go unnoticed. We arrived at the airport, got on the plane, and were on our way. That was until the aforementioned explosion which blew up one of the wings, and made the plane go out of control and crash, killing as all in an instant. So¡ here I am¡ in the afterlife. Or at least that¡¯s what I would think¡ What else could this white nothingness be? If I would have to describe it, it would be that we were in a completely white room, where the walls and the roof stretched eternally. Some of my classmates exclaimed things such as ¡°What¡¯s going on?¡±, ¡°Where are we?¡±, and ¡°Did we die?¡± But before anyone could understand what was going on, and calm down, a bright light appeared. ???: ¡°Calm down everyone, this is the afterlife. And yes, you all died in that crash.¡± This shocked many of my classmates, but as usual, I wasn¡¯t shocked. The moment the explosion happened, I had already accepted death, more or less. It¡¯s not that I¡¯m suicidal or anything, I just can¡¯t be bothered to try and fight the inevitable. ???: ¡°Let me introduce myself, I¡¯m Dreqz, God of Law and Order. I¡¯ve called all of you here to ask for your help. The world that I govern, Grendania, will in 20 years or so, face something called the Cataclysm. In short, it¡¯s the end of the world. The reason I¡¯ve called for your help is that I will offer you to be reincarnated there as future heroes.¡± Again there was some murmurs and whispering, but no one dared to talk back to a God. Dreqz: ¡°I will give you all my blessing, and upon becoming 20 you will receive the title of ¡°Reincarnated Hero¡± and will go and meet an alliance between the kingdoms and empires, which will be created in about 19 years. If you are not to go there, and help fight the Cataclysm, you will lose my blessing, but I will still allow you to live on in that world. Any questions?¡± This time no one said anything at all, and tried to absorb the information. It was quite simple in fact, his world was in danger, he needed people to fight it, and our new life would be our payment. But there was still something that was bothering me¡ Reading on this site? This novel is published elsewhere. Support the author by seeking out the original. Me: ¡°I have one, why us?¡± At this the light, or more precisely, the God turned to look at me. Dreqz: ¡°I have looked into many of the futures, and you are the group with the highest chance of succeeding.¡± He answered me, with a hint of amusement in his voice. Dreqz: ¡°More questions? No? Good. Then, I will now start the reincarnation process. Who will go first?¡± After Dreqz said so, a tall blond young man with blue eyes stood up. His name was Chad (AN: No last names, too lazy, since they¡¯ll change after reincarnation), and he was your typical douchebag, alpha male, who all the girls swoon over. Chad: ¡°I¡¯ll be first. See you later, everyone.¡± Dreqz: ¡°Very well.¡± After that a door of pure light opened, and Chad entered, then I disappeared. Dreqz: ¡°See? Nothing scary about it, who¡¯s next?¡± After that people went through one by one, until I was the only one left. I got up and walked up to the God. Dreqz: ¡°So you¡¯re the last one. Everyone else said goodbye to each other, but no one bothered with you. Plus you were the only one to ask me anything, and the only one calm from the start. Lonely are we?¡± He asked me in a teasing manner, trying to get a reaction out of me, eh? Well, to this my only response was just a soft sigh, which seemed to highly amuse him, even though I couldn¡¯t see his face. After that he opened another door, but this time, instead of pure light, it was pure darkness, with no light reflecting from it. Me: ¡°Why is it black, while the other ones were white?¡± Dreqz: ¡°Well, the others all got bright and cheerful futures, like nobles and such, but in most cases such people get weak. Well, anyway, the darkness means your future will be dark and bloody, or something along those lines, even though I can see into the future, I can¡¯t see every detail, just the results of my choice of group. But I¡¯m not the one who chooses the doors, it¡¯s fate itself, so you just have to deal with it. Of course, you can also just go to the Spirit Realm and refuse to help, it¡¯s all up to you.¡± Me: ¡°Well, it sounds more interesting to live a new life, so I¡¯ll go with that.¡± Dreqz: ¡°Then off you go. Oh, and I didn¡¯t quite catch your name.¡± Me: ¡°Names Blake.¡± I answered him as I walked through the door, and as it closed behind me, the last light followed suit. Everything went dark; I lost all my senses, and finally lost consciousness. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Author notes: Hey guys, this was the prologue, will hopefully finish Chapter 1 by tomorrow. Author notes: Hey guys, chapter 1 is here :D I''ll try to have chapter 2 done as soon as possible, but that might take me 2 days, so don''t expect too much. Enjoy! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Chapter 1: A Hero or Monster¡¯s Birth? As I woke up, I found out that I was still surrounded by darkness. But instead of feeling insecure and confused, I, oddly enough, found myself warm and secure. I tried feeling around me, and could quickly feel that I was in a sort of egg shaped thing, most likely an egg. (AN: Duh!) But I also found out that I couldn¡¯t move my body as well as I used to, so most likely I was an unborn eggling of some sort. Of course this surprised me, but from what I felt, I was still a humanoid. Slowly drowsiness started creeping up on me. Well, for now I guess I¡¯ll just go back to sleep. After I woke up, I felt like I had a bit more strength than before, so I came to the conclusion that I was close to hatching. I tried hitting the top of the egg with my head, but I started feeling tired only after a minute or two, while only managing to leave a tiny crack on it. Then, once again, I fell asleep. This time, after waking up, I felt that I had even more energy than before, so I started hitting the same spot again. This time I managed to last a few minutes, but the crack only became slightly bigger. After repeating this cycle of using my energy and sleeping a few times, I finally managed to leave a crack that went all the way through. It only took me a single hit headbutt more, and I managed to open up the egg enough for me to crawl through. The first thing I saw surprised me a bit. I was in a rundown house, with clear signs of someone living there. There were no doors nor glass in the window frames, so the wind easily circulated the house, but for some odd reason, I didn¡¯t feel cold at all. Taking a look out of the doors and windows, I could see a huge swamp and other rundown houses, so my guess is that it¡¯s a swamp village. Finally looking down on myself, I got an even bigger shock. I was no longer human, I had dark grey, with a hint of green, scales covering my entire body, except on my inner arms and stomach. I also noticed that I didn¡¯t have a neck, but more like a snakes head coming out of my humanoid body. Yes, my body was still humanoid, but more beast than human, I had 2 arms and legs, but also a tail, double the length of my legs, coming out where a humans tailbone would be. What also surprised me for a moment was my lack of genitalia, but after putting the fact that I had scales, a tail, and that all my senses felt like if they had been enhanced, I came to the conclusion that I was some sort of Lizardman. After all, this was a different world, so who knows what existed here. After getting out of the egg, I discovered that, unlike newborn humans, I had strength enough to walk, but only on all four, for now. I also found out, after looking up into the sky through a window, that it was nighttime, but for me it looked like a clouded afternoon. Guess this is the night vision that some lizards and other animals make use of. I also found out that I was male, but it was nothing like a humans, so I won¡¯t elaborate on that. After a while, two adult Lizardmen, from what I gathered, with them being many times my size, showed up. One looked like a male, being taller and broader than the other, which looked female, due to her slightly curvy and small figure, and no, female Lizardmen don¡¯t have breasts. They were only wearing an old rag to cover their groins. The male had dark green scales, while the female had light grey scales. Presumably, these two would be my parents, who else would enter a house like they owned it? Well, another hint was their happy expressions when they noticed me crawling around in the room, and the hatched egg near the corner. Female Lizardman: ¡°Honey, he finally hatched!¡± Male Lizardman: ¡°I can see that, and he even got himself out.¡± For some reason, I could understand the language they spoke. It wasn¡¯t English, or any other languages I had ever heard of, but I could still make out what they were saying, and I felt like I could even replicate it. How, I don¡¯t know, but it might be a gift from the God. As I was thinking, the female Lizardman picked me up from the floor. At first I was a bit scared by her, since she had a snake-like head, the same as me. Female Lizardman: ¡°Hi, little one, I¡¯m Li¡¯Hiet, your mother, and the man over there is Li¡¯Sle.¡± (AN: Li is the family name, while what comes after the ¡® is their personal name, and when a Lizardman gets married, the female takes the males family name.) Me: ¡°*Hissing sounds*¡± I tried to speak, but it only came out as hisses, looks like I¡¯ll need some time in before being able to speak. Li¡¯Sle: ¡°Looks like he already understands what we¡¯re saying, usually it takes a newborn a couple of days. Don¡¯t worry, little one, you¡¯ll be able to speak in a months¡¯ time, when your body is more developed.¡± Looks like this race is one of those fast developing races, seeing as he takes it as if I was already aware of my surroundings. Stolen content warning: this tale belongs on Royal Road. Report any occurrences elsewhere. My thoughts were again interrupted, but this time by my hunger. I was a newborn, and still haven¡¯t eaten a single thing, after all. Therefore, I tried hissing, hopefully they understand that I¡¯m hungry. Li¡¯Hiet: ¡°Hungry, little one? Honey, go get him some food.¡± My father went out of the house, and returned shortly after with a slab of raw meat. At first, I found the idea of eating raw meat from an unknown creature repulsive, but slowly the hunger got worse and my instincts told me that I would be fine. Li¡¯Hiet: ¡°Go ahead and eat.¡± She told me as she put me down next to where my father laid the slab of meat. I was still not too keen on eating raw meat filled with blood, but my hunger and instincts took over, and before I knew it, I had eaten all the meat. I forgot to mention that I was born with sharp teeth, made for ripping flesh, and I could see that my parents had those as well. Not enough with that, I also had long sharp claws on both my fingers and toes. A born killer. After having finished eating, I started feeling drowsy again, guess that my hunger was the only thing keeping me awake. Mother picked me up and I slowly fell asleep. I could hear my parents say something, but I had no idea what they were saying. The next morning I woke up in a stack of pelts, looks like this will be my bed from now on. I got up, and went exploring the house. It was small, as you would expect. It had the living room next to the entrance, with a few wooden furniture and such. Then it had 3 other rooms, my parents, my room, which was the one my egg was in, and then a small workshop. In the workshop my parents have skinning tools, woodwork tools, etc. After I was done exploring, I went to my mother, she was in the workshop, skinning some animal I had never seen before. It looked like a mix between a boar and a bear, thick pelt, 4 legs with hooves, big body and 2 huge boar tusks. Curious, I tried to inquire my mother about it with hisses and pointing at it. Li¡¯Hiet: ¡°Mmh? Are you curious as to what this is, little one?¡± To this I hissed and nodded. Li¡¯Hiet: ¡°This is a Kyurn they live in the area west from here, where the forest begins. Oh, yeah, you don¡¯t know how the landscape is yet, I¡¯ll teach you when you learn to speak.¡± She paused working, thought for a bit, before continuing. Li¡¯Hiet: ¡°Kyurns, as said, live in the nearby forest. They¡¯re a predator animal, also known as beasts. It hunts animals it¡¯s own size, and they can grow as big as 3 meters when they stand on their hind legs. The one I¡¯m skinning here is only a young adult, being 2 meter tall.¡± That¡¯s big in my opinion, though. It covers the entire workbench, for crying out loud. Oh well, I guess there does exist bigger beasts out there, maybe even what could be classified monsters, if they exist here. I¡¯ll have to remember to ask about that when I¡¯m able to speak. I spent the rest of the day next to my mother, watching her work with skinning the Kyurn, drying the meat, and creating weapons and tools out of the bone. From what I¡¯ve gathered, iron and other metals are rare here, since all the weapons and tools I¡¯ve seen so far are made from bones and wood. Over the next few days, I started becoming able to walk on two legs. It was hard because of my tail, throwing my previous balance off. But after becoming able to walk around, I noticed that I¡¯m much more agile because of my tail. It might shift your center of gravity, but if you use it correctly, you can recover your balance much easier. I spent my entire first month in the little house, getting bits and pieces of information from my parents, and learning how to control my body. Apparently a newborn doesn¡¯t go out of the before learning to speak and walk, since even if we¡¯re in a village, beasts roam not too far away, and sometimes even enter the village. I also found out that my father is of the warrior caste, and is a guard of the village, but also patrols the nearby forests to ensure that no dangerous beasts roam near the village. While my mother is of hunter caste, she uses a bow, but if it comes to close quarters, then she shifts it to duel short swords. You can determine the caste when they turn a year old from their body. If they have a tall, broad, and muscled body, they¡¯re of the warrior. And if you have a small, slender, and compact body, they¡¯re of the hunter caste. There¡¯s also variations, like mages. Yes, there¡¯s magic, or at least that¡¯s what I¡¯ve heard from my parents. They¡¯re usually born with small, slender, and less muscled bodies. But now almost a month has passed, and my parents tell me that I should be developed enough to speak in a couple days. My body¡¯s also grown, it¡¯s now the size of a small child at the age of 5, instead of a newborn baby. Lizardmen really do grow fast, huh. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Author notes: Thanks for reading, and hope you enjoyed it! Please comment any feedback you have, you liked, hated it, didn''t really care? Everything helps! :D Chapter 2: Information and Status Windows? Author notes: Hey guys, chapter 2 here. :D Gonna go to bed right after ensuring that the tables work, and sorry if it cuts short, I''m insanely tired and have work tomorrow morning. <.< Hope you enjoy it, oh, and please answer the poll above. THANKS! :D ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Chapter 2: Information and Status Windows? I woke up at sunrise as usual, even though we¡¯re partially nocturnal, most of the tribe are using nearly the same sleeping schedule as humans do. There are some who stay up at night, and sleep at day, but only the strongest of the tribe. This is due to the strongest beasts being nocturnal as well, so since the beasts are stronger, only the strongest Lizardmen in the tribe are hunting at night. Well, that¡¯s at least what my mother told me after me inquiring about the fact that my father slept either half or the entire day. As I got up, I stood on all four and stretched. It was a habit I picked up after spending a weeks time on all four, and to be honest, it felt way better than doing it like I would do as human. This was probably due to us being humanoid, but still having out body build in a way that makes it possible for us to easily move on all four. Walking to the workshop where my mother was, I was about to ask for some food, when I found something weird, instead of just meaningless hissing, I made sounds. Noticing this, mother told me that I was now developed enough to learn to speak, and that she would start teaching me after breakfast, if you can even call it that. After my slab of meat was consumed, mother and I moved to the living room. First she explained me that usually a newborn would be taught for a day, two in rare cases, and then be allowed to go outside. First, she taught me how to speak, it wasn¡¯t really that hard, just had to get used it my new mouth and tongue, and thanks to whatever blessing that God gave me, it looks like learning the languages of this world is easier. Done teaching me how to talk, we moved on with the lessons, this part was quite simple, she explained that she won¡¯t teach me, but I will be asking questions, and she will be answering them. This is apparently to save time, and to not teach something the newborn in question won¡¯t need. Of course, if there¡¯s something I want to know later on, I can just ask then. Me: ¡°Mom, first I would like to ask why you and dad are calling me ¡®little one¡¯, and not a name.¡± Li¡¯Hiet: ¡°That¡¯s quite simple, little one, many newborn die before becoming 1 year old. There¡¯s many reasons for this, but to summon it up, is that this swamp will weed out the weak ones from the start. Starting from tomorrow, you will start hunting yourself, of course, if you come back empty handed, we will feed you, but we won¡¯t, if you don¡¯t even try and go hunting. This makes mages a bit rarer, since some of them die before they even know magic. However, most parents notice their children being mages before they turn a month old.¡± Me: ¡°It still didn¡¯t answer my question, mom, and what¡¯s so special about becoming a year old?¡± It didn¡¯t sound like she tried to avoid answering, but more like she thought that it would be answer enough. It did explain that they don¡¯t name their newborn, since many die so early. I have a feeling it has something to do with the 1st birthday, but I want to be sure of it. Li¡¯Hiet: ¡°When you turn a year old, you get recognized as an adult. You will have the body of a 13-year-old human at that point, and be capable of taking care of yourself, or die trying. It¡¯s actually quite normal that it takes 5 children before a family has a child that survives to become 2 years old. Back to the 1st birthday. As I said, when you turn 1, you¡¯re going to become independent and you¡¯re recognized as an adult. But it¡¯s also where you get your name, which is given by the elder council, for the things you¡¯ve done in the first year of your life. Take my name, Hiet, for an example. It means ¡®Grey Maiden¡¯ in the Ancient Lizardman tongue. I got that name for being chased by all the boys back in the day.¡± As she said that, she looked to the horizon with a dangerous smile, clearly reminiscing about the past. All she had given me were more questions, and I wanted to get the answers sooner rather than later. Me: ¡°So, what does dads name mean? And what is the Ancient Lizardman tongue?¡± Li¡¯Hiet: ¡°Sle means something along the lines of ¡®Brat¡¯. Let¡¯s just say that he was quite unruly when he was young. And the Ancient tongue is easier to explain if I explain this worlds history and the Lizardman race history, want to learn about it?¡± To this, I nodded without hesitation. It was without a doubt, the two things I wanted to know the most, what kind of world I now live in, and about how the Lizardman race came to be. Li¡¯Hiet: ¡°Well, let us start with the worlds history. This world is called¡¡± After that she used hours on explaining me how a group of Gods, one of them being Dreqz, the God of Law and Order, created the world and how the Lizardman race came around. Since it would take hours to explain it all, and no one really cares about that much ancient history, so I will sum it up. The world was created who knows how long ago by a group of 10 Gods, they were: Rinia, Goddess of Love, Beauty and Fertility, Lirte, God of War, Combat and Strength, Synd, Goddess of Intellegence, Wisdom, Insight and Knowledge, Asgal, God of Hunting, Crafting and Farming, Ciak, God of Decieving, Theft, Greed and Gambling, Virian, Goddess of Death, Murder, Hatred and Darkness, Haez, Goddess of Afterlife, New-life and Light, Dreqz, God of Law and Order, Astlan, God of Justice, Freedom and Righteousness, Regaia, Goddess of Creation, Life and Judgment. They created a world with 3 continents, with only a small sea to separate them. The 1st continent was covered with forests, grassland, hills, and mountains. The 2nd continent was covered with jungle, forests, and mountains. And the 3rd was deserts with mountains and hills. The Humans were created on the 1st continent, which was later named the Human continent, the Fae and early Beastmen were created on the 2nd continent, which was later named the Wild continent, and lastly the Demons were created on the 3rd continent, which was named the Demon continent. Later Humans started wars with Fae, Beastmen, and Demons, which was later named the First Great War. They didn¡¯t win the war, nor lost it, and they managed to get a lot of slaves from all the different races, thus creating Demi-humans as their off-spring. Humans, Fae, Demi-humans, Beastmen, and Demons are all classification for the races. Humans are only the human races, white, black, brown, every kind. The Fae are the Elves, Dwarves, Fairies, and Spirits. Demi-humans are Half human, half Fae, Beastman, and/or Demon. Beastmen are humanoid beasts, but mother said we would go into detail with that when talking about the Lizardmen¡¯s story. And lastly Demons, they¡¯re all the leftover races, like Orcs, Ghoblins, and every other kind of demonic monster you can imagine. Mother said there¡¯s so many that no one knows the exact number, and it was nearly the same with Beastmen. Then we came to the story of the Lizardmen. Lizardmen is a race of Beastmen, but some Lizardmen are still only considered as beasts or monsters. The difference between the Beastmen Lizardmen and the beast/monster Lizardmen, is that the Beastmen version is sentient, meaning that they can think for themselves. Lizardmen were created together with all the other Beastmen, and every Beastman race was just humanoid beasts. That was until the Humans started the First Great War, where the only way for Beastmen to survive was to evolve, and thus some tribes became sentient. Over time, more and more Beastman tribes starting following in the tracks, so these days there are only few tribes that a still beasts. Our tribe of Lizardmen is a mixture of two monster lizards, a huge snake monster race and a tiny earth Dragon race, which were shunned by other Dragons and referred to as huge lizards instead. (AN: For those who wonder, I¡¯m referring to them being a mix of Pythons and Komodo Dragons. They have the head, tongue and eyes of a Python, and the rest of their body is that of a Komodo Dragon.) And yes, there does exist Dragons, if I¡¯m to believe what mother told me. They belong to beasts, but it¡¯s said that they hold far more wisdom than any Sage from any of the races. We are the strongest, but the least venomous Lizardman tribe there is. We have a lot of friends and enemies, but there¡¯s no war right now, so even if we have enemies, they don¡¯t bother us, for now. Our society is build up in a very simple way. We have a tribe leader, who¡¯s the strongest among us, then we have an elder council, with all the oldest and strongest tribesmen, who is supposed to help and advice the tribe leader. Every year there¡¯s a tournament to decide the new tribe leader. Killing is not allowed, unless it¡¯s announced that it¡¯s to death before the match has begun, and acknowledged by both those who¡¯s going to fight, and the elder council. There¡¯s a caste system in place, but nothing with noble¡¯s and serfs, but only if you¡¯re a warrior, hunter, mage, or some variant, which I discovered a few weeks ago. It gets revealed to the entire tribe on the newborns 1st birthday. Well, on to magic, I might not be able to use it myself, but who knows? I¡¯ll find out later. Magic uses mana, which is in everything, from the grain of sand to the Dragons. Magic is split up into 6 categories. Elemental magic, which is fire, water, wind, earth, lightning, and ice magic. They all kind of explain themselves, fire magic is magic that uses fire, water uses water, so on and so forth. Light magic, which is light magic, where you manipulate light, and holy magic, where you use a bit of whatever ¡®good¡¯ God you worships power to either heal, bless, cure, or damage undead. Dark magic, which is dark magic, where you manipulate darkness, shadow magic, where you manipulate shadows, and corrupted magic, which is the opposite to holy, where you use a bit of power from an ¡®evil¡¯ you worship. Life and Death magic, which is plant magic, where you manipulate plants, necromancy, where you revive the dead and create undead, blood magic, where you manipulate and uses blood as a medium for different magic, and restoration magic, which heals the body through natural means by increasing the cell production. Mana magic, where you directly manipulate mana to use different pure mana with no element in it. And lastly there¡¯s Ancient magic, it¡¯s magic that Dragons, Gods, unknown races, and extinct races uses, and it can¡¯t be reproduced by weaker races. Unauthorized use: this story is on Amazon without permission from the author. Report any sightings. There also exists a power called Ki, which warrior uses. There are techniques that uses it, but they are not classified the same way as the magic is, since they don¡¯t use elements. All magic and Ki-techniques are split into rankings, first they go from 1st to 10th rank, then after that they go to Ancient, Immortal, Demi-God, and God rank. When one becomes able to use Immortal or above, they can¡¯t die of age or sicknesses, and God rank allows them to ascend to another realm. All of this is apparently basic information in this world, which is taught to almost everyone, as long as they¡¯re not slaves or worse. Li¡¯Hiet: ¡°Did you understand that, little one?¡± To this I just nodded, it was certainly a lot of information, but it fit some of the light novels and such that I read in my previous life. Li¡¯Hiet: ¡°Actually, I told a lie earlier. There¡¯s actually one kind of Ancient magic that we¡¯re capable of using, and not just us, but every sentient being. It allows us to see our strength, and a lot of other things. All you need to do is think ¡®Show status¡¯ in your mind, and it should show up. Only you can see it, unless you think ¡®Share status with¡¯ and then the name of the person you want to show it to.¡± So it¡¯s like that, huh? Just like my novels, oh well, here we go. Show status.

Btw, question for the quick, will remove this after I get it fixed, but that might first be in 12 hours time Tongue So the question: How do I make a new line in the tables. I want to do it to the part with the identification skill part. Thanks. Hope you enjoyed the chapter, all feedback is accepted, so please don''t be a lurker like me! ;D EDIT: Hey guys, just noticed that I forgot to add the 10% stat bonus blessing and changed it so that it has no effect on Presence, so did that. All equipment, blessings, statuses, etc. will be added as +''s next to the base stat. Chapter 3: Why do the Survival Rates Suck so Badly? Author notes: Elos, Link here with chapter 3, and I hope you guys will be enjoying it! :D Anyway, when Lizardmen speak Human, it will sound normal, thank you for your votes. :D So once again, enjoy! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Chapter 3: Why do the Survival Rates Suck so Badly? After finishing checking my stats out, mother spoke up again. Li¡¯Hiet: ¡±Well, in my haste, I forgot to mention what the ancient Lizardman tongue is and the beings called monsters.¡± Well, that was true, I still had no idea of what both of those things were, so I just nodded in response. Li¡¯Hiet: ¡°The ancient Lizardman tongue was the first real language that we, the Lizardmen, developed, and it was developed in the middle of the First Great War, when we became sentient beings. Before that we communicated with hisses, growls, and other sounds, just like beasts and animals. However, even if it was a language, it was far from the Human and other races languages. So after the war, the Lizardmen slowly started to make it sound more like other languages, and making it more detailed, and that¡¯s where we have our language from. But the Ancient tongue is more like a traditional language than anything else, thus our names are based on it.¡± I see, so we made a language for emergency, and then developed a new one, but kept the old one for traditional purposes. Li¡¯Hiet: ¡°Now, onto monsters. It can sometimes be hard to see the difference between beasts and monsters, and the reason is simple. A monster is, usually, a beast that has been exposed to mana for too long, ending up becoming mutated. Unlike beasts, they don¡¯t hunt just to survive, but also hunts for the fun of it. Monsters are stronger and more vicious than beasts, so there often comes adventures to clear them out. We could do it ourselves, but there¡¯s usually casualties when dealing with high level monsters, so that¡¯s why we hire adventurers to do it for us.¡± Li¡¯Hiet: ¡°Any more questions, little one?¡± Me: ¡°You mentioned adventures, mom, what do they do?¡± Li¡¯Hiet: ¡°To make it simple, they do requests, like hunting monsters or scouting ruins and such. Usually the dirty work no one else want to risk their life doing. There¡¯s no adventurer guild in our tribe, but a few hours travel, on foot, away, there¡¯s an elven town, which has one, so we sent our requests there. More you¡¯d like to know about? And no, I won¡¯t explain the surrounding areas, you will get a map of it when you turn one.¡± She had pretty much explained everything that she could, about this world and our tribe, the rest I would have to find out myself, or ask someone else. However, I still had two questions left unanswered, and I¡¯m sure she could answer those. Me: ¡°Mom, how long is a Lizardman¡¯s lifespan?¡± Li¡¯Hiet: ¡°The normal is 250 years, if you manage to survive that long. But those extremely talented and hardworking when it comes to mana and ki cultivation and strengthening, can even manage to live to become 1000 years old. Many of our elders are more than 500 years old, while the oldest is 937 right now.¡± Wow, that¡¯s a long time. But that just makes me want to ask more questions. Me: ¡°Mom, then why are we seen as adults when only a year old, and why does our bodies grow so fast?¡± Li¡¯Hiet: ¡°It¡¯s simple, little one, it¡¯s because so few of us survives long enough to get a fully-grown body. Let¡¯s say if our bodies grew the same speed as Humans, in that case even fewer of us would survive, and we might even have gone extinct. Therefore, in order to survive, we grow up quickly. More questions?¡± Well, that answered my question about our explosive growth rate. Let¡¯s ask her the last question. Me: ¡°I have one, am I allowed to leave the house now?¡± Li¡¯Hiet: ¡°Yes, of course, little one, but on one condition. You can¡¯t leave town. I know it might be exciting, but you can¡¯t go hunting yet, so stay in town, and be back at nightfall.¡± I nodded and sprang up from the makeshift couch I was sitting on, and ran out the door. What greeted me there was what I had expected. A town made filled with run-down buildings, in the middle of a swamp. Starting walking among the houses, I noticed that there were even some shops, selling things from weapons to food. I also came by a building, bigger than the rest, from what I could gather, this would be the tribe-manor, that I heard about from my parents. Apparently, it was the building where the elder council and tribe leader had their meeting, and also where announcements and such were carried out, the 1st birthday of newborn being one of them. It was already afternoon when I left home, and as I walked around, I met several other Lizardmen, but no one my age, everyone were adults, so I had no one to play with. I had seen the whole village now, it was around a hundred houses big. When I finally returned home, it was already dark outside, but I could still easily see, due to my night vision. Li¡¯Hiet: ¡°Welcome back, little one, are you hungry?¡± Me: ¡°Yes I am. Mom, could I ask why there aren¡¯t any other newborn like me?¡± Mother gave me my usual slab of meat. From what I¡¯ve gathered, Lizardmen only eat fruit and vegetables to taste new things. We are carnivores, so if we don¡¯t eat meat, we can¡¯t live. And honestly, after a while, you get used to the raw meat and blood taste, and the idea of eating it. Li¡¯Hiet: ¡°About the other newborns, they¡¯re rare, surviving the first month, at least. Usually a couple has five children before one survives the first month, and only half of those survive the first year. This is due to diseases, monsters killing them, and the parents dying. Even after that, most Lizardmen die before turning 100. I¡¯m 23, while your dad is 35. 10 years isn¡¯t much for those Lizardmen who survives to become a hundred, but just surviving to become 10 means that you¡¯re strong, making those who become a hundred or more elites.¡± I see. But I guess it¡¯s my luck that I¡¯ve been blessed by Dreqz, my guess is that he wouldn¡¯t like for any of us to die before even being able to fight. ¡Wait, she just said something that might be really cruel¡ I really don¡¯t want to, but I have no choice but to ask¡ Did you know this story is from Royal Road? Read the official version for free and support the author. Me: ¡°Mom¡ You just said something about that when the parents die, their child dies as well, why is that?¡± Li¡¯Hiet: ¡°Oh, that. That¡¯s because it¡¯s taboo to take care of someone else¡¯s child, so after the parents die, the child is just left for dead, unless he can get food or money by himself.¡± I KNEW IT!!! That¡¯s too cruel, my god. No wonder that there¡¯s no other newborn right now¡ ¡ ¡ Ok, I¡¯m over it now, can¡¯t do anything about it anyway. Guess Lizardmen really do go by the jungle rules, ¡®Survival of the Fittest¡¯, I guess. But she mentioned money, she didn¡¯t mention that before, how does this worlds currency work? Better ask. Me: ¡°Mom, you mentioned money and I forgot to ask earlier, but how does currency work in this world?¡± At this, she thought for a bit, then went out of the room, and returned with three coins, the size of a grown man¡¯s thumbnail. One was bronze coloured, another one was silver, and the last was gold. I¡¯m 99% sure they¡¯re bronze, silver, and gold, like their colours. Li¡¯Hiet: ¡°The currency we use is coins like these. The once I have here are Bronze, Silver, and Gold Coins, but there¡¯s also Platinum, Mithril, and Adamantine. You need 100 Bronze coins to have the value of 1 Silver coin, and so on. To put it in more perspective to their values, with 1: Bronze coin you can buy a piece of bread. Silver coin you can buy an iron bar. Gold coin you can buy an above average sword. Platinum coin you can buy a well-made house. Mithril coin you can buy a castle. Adamantine coin you can buy a kingdom. These coins are used in the entire world, and this happened after the First Great War, where soldiers on their way home only had their own currency, and died from starvation. Simply, it¡¯s to allow anyone to survive anywhere, as long as they have money.¡± How convenient, one currency being used all over the world. No reason to exchange or anything like that. After that mother and I went to sleep. Next morning I once again went out exploring, but this time I looked into the shops. Walking around a bit, I found a general store and entered it. We might be a tribe in the middle of a swamp, but as my mother mentioned, sometimes adventurers come here. Because of this, there are all kind of stores. ¡ Or so I would like to say, but there really is only a general supply store, run by the elder council. Of course, this store has almost every kind of ware. Weapons, books, food, armour, you name it. Most of the weapons and armour were made out of bone, carapace, or hide. Only a few iron weapons and armours were present, and they were in bad condition as well. It was clear that this tribe had nothing to do with blacksmithing, all tools, weapons, armours, and so on, are made from whatever you could collect from the beasts in the surrounding area. Finishing browsing the store, I found a few interesting things, one of them being a thin iron long sword. It was slight rusted and had many deep scratches. However, if you looked closely, then you¡¯d notice they weren¡¯t scratches, but that the sword wasn¡¯t whole, but pieces stuck together. I picked it up for closer inspection, and noticed that on one side of the handle was a small button. I tried pressing it, but nothing happened. Putting it back on the desk, I decided to try to convince mother to buy me it. It¡¯s clearly hiding something, and I feel like I want it. Is this my instincts taking over again? Who knows? All I know is that I want that sword. Arriving home again, I was about to call out mother to ask her, when I noticed my father being awake. He¡¯s part of the night team, so usually he¡¯s asleep at this time of the day. My mother used to be in the night team as well, until I was born. Anyways, I walked up to them, making it known that I was here. Li¡¯Sle: ¡°Oh, here you are, we were just discussing you.¡± Li¡¯Hiet: ¡°As I said, I¡¯m against it, he¡¯s still too young.¡± Li¡¯Sle: ¡°Calm down, we¡¯re both going to be there, so it¡¯s only if something goes wrong that he will be in any danger.¡± Li¡¯Hiet: ¡°That¡¯s exactly what I¡¯m worried about, if something goes wrong.¡± As they were ¡®discussing¡¯, I was wondering what it was that made them have this argument. Well, only one way to find out. Me: ¡°Mom, dad, what are you talking about?¡± Hearing me, they both stopped and looked at me. After a while, mother sighed, and father had a triumphant smile on his face. Li¡¯Hiet: ¡°Dad wants to take you hunting with us tomorrow, little one, but I¡¯m against it. For obvious reasons.¡± Her saying that made my brain work at top speed. This was clearly may chance. If we went hunting I would need a weapon, which would make it easier for me to get that sword. Putting on my cute child face, if I a Lizardman could have such a thing, and started trying to convince her. Me: ¡°Mom, I would really like to go hunting with you, or at least just watch you hunting.¡± Li¡¯Sle: ¡°See, I told you he would want to watch us hunt.¡± Mother switched between watching father and I. After a few moments, she heaved a sigh. Victory! Li¡¯Hiet: ¡°Fine, but you have to stay back and just watch, and flee if something happens. But we need to get you a weapon, just in case you get cornered.¡± Me: ¡°Mom, in that case, there¡¯s actually something I wanted to ask¡¡± ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Author notes: Hope you enjoyed chapter 3! :3 Will try to keep up with making at least 1 chapter every 2nd day, and I will (try to) notify you guys if delays pop up. Next chapter will be chapter 3.5, so yay, it will be a new persons POV, try and guess who. :D Pss. This chapter was written to this song on repeat: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G9DKoMSiDc4 xD Chapter 3,5: Chad was Reincarnated as a Royal, Pure-Blood Human? Author notes: Hey guys, here''s chapter 3,5! :D It''s kinda short, but will make chapter 4 tomorrow (or at least try to) :3 Enjoy! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Chapter 3,5: Chad was Reincarnated as a Royal, Pure-Blood Human? Chad¡¯s POV: It has now been a month since I was reborn, and guess what, I was born as the 1st Prince in a Human kingdom. My luck really is good. My name is now Asger Vlekadien, 1st Prince of the Kingdom of Vlekadien. The only problem is that I¡¯m still only a month old, so I can¡¯t do anything yet. Luckily I spent most of my time sleeping, so just this first month passed by quickly. For now I¡¯ll have to act as a baby, but in the future I plan to become a genius, or at least look like one. This will get me a lot more attention and advantages. I still don¡¯t know anything about this world, only that it has magic and many races. And that it has slaves. Most people would probably found this repulsive and wrong, but not I. In fact, slaves can be really useful, especially because magic ensures that they can¡¯t go against their masters orders. I also plan on trying to find more of my classmates before we turn 20, that could ensure me being the strongest and becoming the leader, once again. The only problem is Blake. He always ignored us all, and in turn, we ignored him. However, it kind of felt as if he was a thorn in my site. While I had the entire class under control, he was the only one I couldn¡¯t even touch. If I tried to, the others would think I was weird, and would ruin my position. I plan to do the same again. The more classmates I find, the easier it is for me to get ahead. I might even be able to get Blake to do as I say, or if I don¡¯t find him, I might be lucky that he either doesn¡¯t turn up or is weak. Damn it, feeling tired again, guess I¡¯ll go back to sleep. A year later... I¡¯m now 1 year old, and I just started to speak. It¡¯s early for a baby, but not so early that it¡¯s scary, just early enough to make it seem like I¡¯m a genius. Perfect. (AN: The human race in this world speak English, all of them, so get off my case.) I started receiving lessons, on my own request, and learned about this world, it¡¯s magic, and everything else that was basic knowledge. (AN: Read chapter 2 and 3 for this information, it¡¯s the same, just with a bit of human history and culture added to it, I will add that part now.) After learning the global knowledge, I was taught about human culture and history. To sum it up, human superiority is real. Humans have always looked down on all the other races, since their blood was corrupted by something, making them Fae, Beastman, or Demon. And later the same with Demi-humans, even though they were a byproduct of the slaves from the First great war. The history of humanity was that before the First Great War all of humanity as one Empire. But after the war and that time¡¯s Emperor¡¯s death, high standing officials and nobles started to split off, and create their own small Empires, or Kingdoms. And it¡¯s still like that today. About the culture, it uses slaves to perform a lot of troublesome things, and wars for more territory and such are constantly wagered. I also learned that there was a magic called Status Window that every race could use, which showed you everything about yourself in numbers. Of course I tried it out, and this was the result.

Thanks :3 With that out of the way, enjoy! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Chapter 4: I Finally got my Weapon-of-Choice? Before me stood a Kyurn, the first creature I saw my mother skin. However, this one was smaller, only standing a meter tall, the same as me. Li¡¯Sle: ¡°Ok, little one, you stay here and watch us work, got it?¡± I nodded as my answer. We were currently crouched behind a bush, upwind, to avoid it noticing us. Li¡¯Sle: ¡°Kyurns have good senses of smell, but the rest of its senses are worse than ours, the same as a Humans. If you just approach it silently upwind, you can usually sneak up behind it. The other danger is their combat senses, they¡¯re strong, fast, and have good instincts. So the best way of dealing with them is surprise attacks.¡± After father finished explaining, both him and mother started sneaking closer. After a short distance, mother climbed a tree and waited with her bow nocked as father continued approaching, unsheathing his bone great sword. I have no idea on how they found a bone big enough to carve a sword that big, but it¡¯s a fantasy world, after all. While they hunted the Kyurn, I kept aware of my surroundings. We were a few kilometres from the village, just past the border to the nearby forest. Just because we only spotted one Kyurn, doesn¡¯t mean that it¡¯s the only one nearby. So I¡¯m not lowering my guard, just in case. When father was right behind the Kyurn, he raised his sword, getting ready to strike. And at the same moment as mothers arrow was fired, father brought down his sword with all his might. The outcome was what one would expect. Mother¡¯s arrow went through its cranium, damaging the brain, while father¡¯s sword cleanly chopped its head of. Overkill¡ That¡¯s the only word I could use to describe it. However, it¡¯s better than getting wounded, or in worst case, dying. After seeing my parents deal with that Kyurn so easily, I looked at my sword with only the thought that I won¡¯t need it. I even went through so much trouble just to get it, hopefully I can unlock it¡¯s true potential soon. The previous day¡ After convincing my parents to buy me the sword I saw in the shop, we went there. Due to it being in such a bad condition, it only cost 20 Silver. If the sword was in perfect condition, I bet it would be worth at least 20 Gold. When we returned home, I instantly started inspecting it. As I thought, the big smooth ¡®scratches¡¯ that cuts the blade horizontally aren¡¯t scratches, but the space between the pieces of the blade. And after inspecting the hilt, I found that it could be opened. Opening it, I found that there was a dark, almost black, blue crystal as long as the hilt inside of it. After ensuring I missed nothing else, I sought out mother in the workshop. She had offered me, when she saw the state of the blade, to teach me how to sharpen and polish a sword. Even if the Lizardmen rarely uses metal weapons, they still need to sharpen and polish their bone swords. Hearing me enter, she motioned me to take a seat next to her. After sitting down and putting the sword on the table, mother started explaining. Li¡¯Hiet: ¡°Little one, when sharpening a sword, you use a stone called a whetstone. It¡¯s harder than most stones and metals, so it can easily sharpen an iron sword. All you do is just sliding the edge, at the correct angle, it changes from blade to blade, and the stone will do the rest. Almost all quality whetstones are enchanted, so that they both sharpen and polish the blade. You can also buy un-enchanted whetstones, but they cost almost the same.¡± Following her instructions, I started sliding the blade across the whetstone. And after a few minutes, I could see that the sword¡¯s condition was definitely better, and the blade was sharp. The blade still had some rust in some places, and many scratches, but at least the sword could cut again. Li¡¯Hiet: ¡°The condition of the sword is still bad, the amount of scratches and few patches of rust is the proof. That is something only a blacksmith could help you with. However, if you maintain it regularly, like every day, it will work just fine.¡± With that out of the way, I went onto the next thing I needed help with, the crystal. Opening the hilt I took it out showing it to her as I explained my question. Me: ¡°Mom, I found this crystal inside the hilt, and there¡¯s also button connected to where the crystal was placed, not to mention that it looks like the blade is made of pieces that are stuck together. Could you explain to me what that crystal is?¡± To this, she showed a shocked face, as if she hadn¡¯t noticed that some of the scratches were actually cuts that ran all the way through. Li¡¯Hiet: ¡°So this is why you wanted the blade, even I hadn¡¯t noticed those things, you must have good eyesight, then. Little one, that crystal is a mana crystal. To put it in simple terms, it stores mana. When it runs out, there are many ways to recharge it, one being leaving them near a mana hotspot. The other, and easier, being having a mage charge it, or yourself if you can. The reason it¡¯s this dark in the colour is because it doesn¡¯t contain any mana. The brighter the blue, the more mana it holds. They¡¯re not exactly rare, but only few use them. From what you¡¯ve said, it looks like this sword holds an enchantment that allows it to do something else.¡± The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident. So, it¡¯s like that. Sadly, I can¡¯t manipulate mana right now, so I guess I¡¯ll have to see if I can get one of the tribe¡¯s mages to charge it for me. Me: ¡°Mom, I think the enchantment allows it to extent the blades reach, splitting the pieces from each other, creating a whip-sword.¡± Again, she looked at me as if I was a genius. Li¡¯Hiet: ¡°Certainly, those weapons do exist. Normally enchanted weapons uses the users mana directly, but I guess this whip-sword was made so that even someone who can¡¯t manipulate mana can use it.¡± Yes, just like I had hoped for. So even if I end up without any ability to manipulate mana, I¡¯ll be able to use this whip-sword. Whip-swords has always been my weapon-of-choice. Even though it was a fantasy weapon, simply the idea of combining a swords techniques with the reach of a whip was amazing. In my previous life I was a hidden weapon-freak. And no, not guns and such, but medieval weapons such as swords, battle axes, spears, etc. I was hidden in the way that I never mentioned it to anyone other than those I were close to, and my class not being a part of that group. Well, except for my good, and the only one in my class, childhood friend, Kate, or Kat, as only her closest friends called her. We had known each other ever since we were born, seeing as we were neighbours. We didn¡¯t show that we were friends in class, since she didn¡¯t want me to get in trouble over it, Chad always had an eye for her. She just played along. However, after classes we would spent a lot of time hanging out. Guess we won¡¯t meet again before we turn 20. Anyway, back on topic. I loved medieval weapons, so much that I even started receiving lessons in swordsmanship. Kat was actually the daughter to the master there, meaning that the ¡®dojo¡¯, if you could call it that, was right next door. We often spared. The techniques and stances might have been modern, but they were inspired by the ones used back in the medieval times, so it was all the same to me. I even went as far as buying a few swords, mostly being European, with a couple of Japanese ones. However, whip-swords had always been my favourite, ever since I read about them and saw them pop up in some games. (AN: Heyo Dark Souls 2 DLC!) Finishing my monologue, I moved onto the next important question. Me: ¡°Mom, do we have tribe mages who would be willing to recharge the mana crystal?¡± She looked at me, then once again took and examined the crystal. After a while, she turned to me, with a slightly sad expression. Li¡¯Hiet: ¡°Sorry to say this, little one, but this crystal has a crack in it, from which mana slips out. That¡¯s most likely the reason why it¡¯s empty right now. It should have been charged to some degree, since it has been in the shop for at least 10 years, from what I can remember. I would have paid to have it recharged, since that¡¯s usually cheap, but now crystals, especially this shape and size, can cost more than a normal sword. It¡¯s not expensive, but it¡¯s still a bit much for us right now, since we just bought you the sword. So, for now, just use it like a regular long-sword.¡± I see, so I will need to wait until I get my whip-sword. Oh well, at least I can get one. And if I¡¯m able to manipulate mana and wield spells, then I might be able to use even better whip-swords in the future, without the use of mana crystals. For now, I guess I should go practice my swordsmanship and it¡¯s stances. It¡¯s been more than a month since I last did, not to forget that I was now in a different body. Me: ¡°I¡¯m going to go practice with my sword in my room, thank you for teaching me, mom.¡± Li¡¯Hiet: ¡°It¡¯s not a problem, little one, in fact, I enjoyed. Go on ahead, then.¡± After that, I practiced for hours. Relearning the stances, techniques, and balancing. I progressed quickly, and became able to wield the sword almost as well as in my previous life. Lizardmen are scary. With that thought I went to sleep. The next morning we set off to the forest that was to the west. Back to the present¡ After having a quick snack, that being the Kyurn father and mother killed, we headed back. The goal of today wasn¡¯t to hunt a lot, nor big, but to allow me to see how hunting worked and the reality of it. Seeing the blood and death didn¡¯t have that big of an effect. Doesn¡¯t mean that I could kill a man without feeling anything, definitely not. But it¡¯s easy to get over if you just think of it as the need to survive. Plus the fact that many people, even Kat, calling me cold, the reason being that I was almost always calm in any situation. I was born like that, but it has more advantages than disadvantages. On the way back, I suddenly got a bad feeling and a chill running down my spine. I had never felt like this before, was this fear, or just a bad premonition. Looking around us, I saw several shadows moving closer. But, before I could tell my parents, the shadows came rushing out from every direction. We are surrounded¡ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Author Notes: Hope you enjoyed this chapter :D I''m gonna be busy tomorrow, so I might not get chapter 5 out, but I will do within 2 days time. After all, my goal is to have at least 1 chapter coming out every 2nd day. That''s the minimum, of course, this might change, but I will tell you guys if it is. That''s all. Please comment and stuffs, tell me if you liked it or not, your thoughts, predictions, etc. It''s fun to chat with you guys. See you next chapter :D Chapter 5: My First Fight is Against Overdimensioned Cats? Author Notes: Hey guys, felt really motivated, so made chapter 5 instantly :D 2 chapters 1 day, new record for me xD Anyway, huge news/update! I changed the Status Windows a bit, it''s not that huge, but I suggest you revisit chapter 2 and 3,5, just to get a look at it. Used it here as well. Hope you enjoy! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Chapter 5: My First Fight is Against Overdimensioned Cats? The ambush happened so fast that I didn¡¯t have time to warn my parents. However, the second they saw the shadows moving towards them, they had already unsheathed their blades, and I had done the same. I wasn¡¯t prepared, but I had no choice but to steel myself and fight to survive. The shadows reached us and pounced, two of them aiming at me. I only just managed to dodge the two of them, but they still managed to reach me with their claws. One scratched my sword, lowering it¡¯s durability further. I had no information on the durability of my sword; I tried using Identify on it, but to no avail. After all, I need to be higher ranked than the sword, and the fact that the sword was enchanted while I was level 1 didn¡¯t help. The other¡¯s claw slid across my scales. Because of the angle of the one that hit my scales, it didn¡¯t even leave a scratch that could be seen with the naked eye. I was probably lucky. Only two went for me, while the rest went for my parents. After having dodged the first attack, I managed to get a better look at the enemies and their numbers. They were cats, and no, not just some housecats you can play with. Imagine a black housecat, growing to the size as a panther, and now double that size. That was what we were facing. They all had long sharp claws, thick black pelt, strong yet subtle muscles, and everything else a predator would need. These beasts were made to kill. Unfortunately for them, so are we. Looking around, without losing sight of my two opponents, I counted them to being 11 in total. 2 going for me, 4 going for my mother, and 5 going for my father. Luckily, the two I was against were smaller than the others were, it was clear that they had just reached adulthood. Unlike their attack towards me, the attack towards my parents managed to wound them both, leaving a few bloody stripes across their scales. However, nothing lethal. Moving back to my own fight I understood that I had to take care of these two myself, not that I complain. They stood as tall as 1,5 meter, 1,5 times my size. While the fully-grown ones were more than 2 meters tall. Just as I was planning on what to do, one of the felines ran out of patience and charged towards me, with the other following closely behind it. Getting into a lowered stance meant for agile defense, I dodged the first one clearly, rolling under its paw. However, the problem came with the second one behind it. Having no time to move out of the way, I decided to parry. I moved my blade under its incoming paw, moving it slightly off course, managing to dodge the attack with only a scratch on the scales on my shoulder. With the momentum, I gained from parrying the attack and getting the feline¡¯s off-balanced, creating an opening for me to use. Moving closer to it, I stabbed my sword towards its ribcage, trying to get the sword to pierce between the ribs. I succeeded, but didn¡¯t succeed hitting the heart, only puncturing a lung, from what I could tell. Pulling the back out, I backed to the left, getting both felines in front of me. This time they didn¡¯t look like they wanted to attack me blindly. They had clearly underestimated me and was punished for it. This time I was the one to charge, surprising both felines, though only for a second. I ran towards the one that had charged first last time, but just when I was about to enter its range, I dashed to the right, getting up close and personal with the one I wounded earlier. My strategy was simple, take one out quickly and then fight the other 1v1. It worked. Due to the wound I inflicted earlier, it had trouble breathing and moving, most likely due to the pain. Because of this, I plunged my sword into its throat, before it managed to do anything to defend itself. After only a moment of stabbing through its throat, I felt like all the resistance of the flesh had disappeared. I concluded that I had penetrated its neck. Pulling the sword out, a lot of blood came flying out, covering me almost entirely. Truly a bloodbath. A moment later, the feline fell on its side, dead. Confirming the kill, I turned to the last one. It was just standing there, frozen. I could see both confusion, fear, and hatred in its eyes. Not believing I had killed its comrade, fearing the same result would happen if it continued fighting me, and hating me for killing one of its kind. After a few moments of silence, except from my parents fighting, it charged at me, this time even more blindly than the first time. It had clearly been swallowed by hatred, and just let the emotions and instincts control it. Getting into range, it pounced at me. However, this time was even faster and with more power behind it. But, it came with a cost. And that was accuracy. I easily dodged it, slicing its stomach while rolling under it. I could clearly feel the swords blade going through the muscle. The slash ended with me nearly cutting one of its hind legs off. It landed with a *thump*, clearly wounded so badly that it lost all its strength. Quickly running up onto its back, I plunged my sword through the back of its neck, feeling the same sensation as with the first one. After a few moments, the feline stopped breathing, lying completely still. I had killed both my enemies, only receiving a scratch. Remembering that I was the one in the best situation, I turned to look for my parents. What I saw simply shocked me. On the ground were 9 cut up corpses of the felines, with my parents standing calmly between, with no more wounds than when we were ambushed. And it was clear that they had been standing like that for a while. Looks like they killed their ambushers easily, only getting small wounds from letting their guard drop before the attack. They must have stood and watched me fight for a while, seeing the smirk on my father¡¯s face, and the expression on my mother¡¯s face. Well, at least that¡¯s what it looks like, with their snake heads. After a month of living with them, I learned to discern their emotions from each other from their facial expressions. Li¡¯Sle: ¡°Finally done, are we?¡± Father said with a laugh, clearly mocking me. Hey, I just took on two enemies, clearly stronger than me! And it was my first fight as well! Li¡¯Hiet: ¡°Don¡¯t listen to this idiot, little one, you did well. Most your age would have died from such a fight. I was quite worried when the first attack came, but after seeing you dodging it, I felt like I should just leave it to you to defend yourself.¡± For some reason, I was strangely happy at the praise mother gave me. Li¡¯Sle: ¡°That certainly is true, these feline creatures are called Flurnes. Their individual levels are low, but they almost always hunt in groups of at least 8, this group was a medium sized one. They¡¯re smart creatures, trying to split their forces so that the strong take on the strong, and the weak the weak, like they did just now. Anyway, those two you just defeated should both be around level 80. This would normally leave you no chance, but instead of using brute strength, you used your agility, small frame, and the momentum of their attacks to win. Truly impressive. Oh, and you should probably check your status, you should have gotten quite a few messages.¡± This book''s true home is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience. Certainly, if they were 80 times my level, I should have leveled quite a bit. Show Status.
Stat Points Gained
For fighting and winning against higher level creatures you gained stats. +5 DEX, +10 AGI
Title Gained
For fighting a battle for survival, and winning against the odds, you have gained the title ¡®Survivor¡¯. This title grants you +3% to all stats when fighting against the odds. (Will still count as against the odds, even if the +3% makes your odds equal or greater than theirs.)
36x Level Up
For killing multiple enemies above your level, you have leveled up.
A title, more stats, and 36 levels, wow. That¡¯s insane. Well, the ones I killed were around level 80, I guess. It would actually be more weird if I had gotten less levels. Still, 36 from a single fight. It wasn¡¯t that hard, since their instincts made them easy to predict. However, one clean hit would have killed me in an instant. After finishing reading the messages, I dismissed them. This time my new and updated Status Window showed up.

Wow, I¡¯ve become really strong, many times what I was before, guess my luck really was good. It must have been their first fight, as well. Before I could continue thinking, my parents cut in. Li¡¯Sle: ¡°Well, I guess he can go hunting with us more now, and even participate.¡± Li¡¯Hiet: ¡°I guess. But for that he would need a better weapon¡¡± With that, my mind, once again, tried to figure out how I could get the most out of this, and the answer was simple. Me: ¡°Mom, instead of a new weapon, then could I maybe get a new mana crystal?¡± Hearing this she sighed, she might be used to my scheming after the first time where I both got to go watch them hunt, and get the weapon I wanted. This meant that it was my victory. Li¡¯Hiet: ¡°Fine, but let¡¯s get back home first. We have all these corpses to transfer, after all.¡± With my whip-sword secured, we packed up what we could, which was most of it. This was due to that my parents were carrying enchanted bags, which could carry 25 times the amount it would normally do, and the weight is reduced just as much. They might sound expensive, but from what mother told me, they were quite common. Since so many wanted them, they were mass produced, and ended up becoming a common enchanted item. After packing up, we headed home. I was extremely excited with getting my whip-sword working. I can¡¯t wait! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Author Notes: Hi again! Sorry if it was a little short, just wanted to end it there, same with the battle. Like explained, his enemies weren''t used to fighting and were reckless, while MC actually fought in a cautious and calculated manner. :3 Well, I''m off to bed, totally destroyed. Might not release a chapter tomorrow, since I''m gonna be busy, but who knows. Thanks for reading, and please leave a comment, later! :D Chapter 6: Why are Whip-swords so Hard to Master? Author Notes: Hey! Here''s chapter 6, thank you for waiting! Sorry, I took the day off yesterday + almost all of today, can''t get myself to write anything until evening for some reason <.< (Bad habit, same with the homework!) Anyway, hope you enjoy! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Chapter 6: Why are Whip-swords so Hard to Master? After getting home, I immediately convinced mother to go and get the mana crystal now. But after looking through the store, we didn¡¯t manage to find a single one. To be more precise, we did find some mana crystals, but none of them was the right shape nor size. So we decided to wait for the next visitors to see if they had what we needed. The next week passed in a blink of an eye. I spent the entire week practicing with my sword, and going to the store every day. I even had those who worked there ask the next adventurers or merchants that visit town for a mana crystal in the needed shape and size. I didn¡¯t go hunting with my parents this week. We were waiting until I had gotten the crystal and learned how to fight with the whip-sword. I knew how to wield a sword, but a whip is an entirely different thing, especially a whip-sword. From what I can come to conclude, to master using whip-swords, you need to both master whips and swords, and then combine the techniques from those two, making it a new style. So for now, all I can do is try to master using the sword. And I¡¯m getting closer. I¡¯ve already exceeded what I could in my previous life. This is due to my tail, making many of the harder techniques, the footwork, and the stances easier. The biggest progress I¡¯ve made is being able to manipulate the ki flowing in me. Before I would just use techniques, such as parrying, only using my body to do them, but now I¡¯m capable of adding my ki into it. To explain this, I first need to explain ki in more detail. Ki is something all living things has, unlike mana, it isn¡¯t in everything. If mana flows through your veins, then ki flows through your nerves, while stamina resides in your entire body. As said, every living being has ki, even plants and such. There are few exeptions of some creatures not ¡®having¡¯ ki. The thing is, they do have ki, but they can¡¯t use it, or to be more precise, they convert it. To what, you ask. Well, some to mana, others to stamina. But this can¡¯t be learned, you have to be born with it. By moving the ki from your nerves into your muscles, you¡¯re able to make the muscles stronger, faster and more agile. In addition, you¡¯re also able to move it into your brain and eyes, increasing your reaction speed, making everything seem as if it was slower. Something akin to this can also be done with mana, but that only increases your vision, making you able to see farther. Ki is meant for close-quarters, while mana is made for long range, both being capable at midrange. Archers use ki and mana, ki to draw the bow and shooting farther, mana to add elemental damage and increasing their vision range. This doesn¡¯t mean that archers are mages, they¡¯re just able to add a small coating of elemental mana on the tip of the arrows. Anyway, after mother told me this, I started to practice sensing my ki. It took me a couple of days, but I was successful. I can now use it to some extent. I¡¯m able to increase my reaction speed by a bit, making it 10% slower, and I¡¯m also able to add more power, speed and agility to my body. If I was strong before, then I¡¯m close to a God now. That¡¯s a comparison, not my actual level. What I mean is, that if I was to fight myself before I became capable of wielding ki, I would destroy the ki-less me. Well, back on track. After being able to wield ki, my parents were now even more willing to let me go hunt, since my swordsmanship has become many times better. A week had passed with training, as I mentioned earlier, and today a group of adventurers and a merchant arrived in the village. The merchant was a Demi-human of the wolf-tribe, which was rare to see. Usually wolf-tribe demi-humans and beastmen become warriors, but some become mages, rogues, merchants, minstrels, etc. The adventurers on the other hand, was a mix of many races. From what I could tell there were two Fae, an archer and a dual-wielding swordsman both being Elves, one Demon, an axe-wielding warrior from some Orc tribe, one Beastman, a shield and sword wielding warrior from some dog tribe(AN: Something akin to Gnolls, you know, humanoid dogheads.), a Demi-human, a mage from some feline tribe, and a Human, a priest. The weird thing about the party wasn¡¯t all the different races, but that they had a human in it. Usually humans don¡¯t party with beastmen, and especially not demons. Most of the time they either only party with other humans. But when it comes to this continent, they can be seen with Fae and demi-humans. That doesn¡¯t mean that all Humans are like that. In fact, there¡¯s actually quite a few who ends up settling down on this continent, creating more Demi-humans in the process. As soon as I had heard that visitors had arrived, I instantly took off with mother, hoping that they had a mana crystal in the shape and size that I needed. Arriving there, I instantly went through the merchants stock of mana crystals, sadly, he had a few in the right shape, but being either way too small, or just too big to fit. I was about to leave, when the Human called out to me. After coming over to her, she asked me what I was looking for. How did I understand what she said, you ask. Well, to my surprise, the most used language, being the Human language, was English, apparently. And since I was from an English speaking country in my previous life, I was able to speak it smoothly. Although having this tongue made me stumble on the s¡¯s from time to time. I explained her that I was looking for a mana crystal and in what shape and size I needed. Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.Hearing this, she suddenly took off her bag and went through it, taking out a tall, slender and light blue mana crystal. It was just what I was looking for. She told me she would sell it to me, if I showed her some good hunting grounds nearby. Apparently they came here on an escort requests, for the merchant they came with, but had nothing to do the next couple of days until they went back. Hearing this I ran to mother and told her about it. Hearing this, she told me it was fine, and that where we went last time would be good enough, since going just a bit further would up the difficulty exponentially. Dragging mother with me to the Human priest to bargain, I almost couldn¡¯t hide my excitement. After a bit of discussion between mother and the Human, we got it to the same price as the sword, only 20 silver. Of course, in return I had to guide and help them hunt. I told her that I had little to no experience in hunting, but that I could easily guide them. I hadn¡¯t left the village more than once, but I¡¯ve studied maps for the past few days, learning the surrounding areas. And I know what lives in the forest to the west. Mostly Kyurns, but with Flurnes living on the way there. Of course, other animals lived there. But the only beasts of danger were Kyurns and Flurnes, with a few weaker races here and there. After agreeing to go tomorrow morning, I got the crystal and went home. Arriving home, I immediately unsheathed my sword and replaced the crystal. Running to the back of the house, I swung the sword while pressing the button. The result was as expected. The blade extended, only held together by a wire. After a few swings, I came to the conclusion that it became 2,5 meter long, making it more than twice my height. It was awkward the first few slashes. Getting used to the sudden change in length and balance of the sword would take time, but I could definitely see the strengths of the whip-sword, just from wielding it for a few minutes. Suddenly changing the range and movements of the sword would be very confusing and dangerous for the enemy. It could catch them off-guard, leading to a lethal hit. Wanting to master this sword as quickly as possible, I started out with leaving the sword in constant extended mode. After finding out that, it only spend mana when extending or retracting. Since I was already used to swordplay, I wanted to get used to how it was to wield a whip, before combining the two. After a few hours I got the hang of it. Since a whip-sword had sharp pieces of metal attached to it, unlike a standard whip, it was as effective making it the side slide along the target, cutting through the flesh, as making the tip hit or whipping the side of the target, piercing or cutting into the flesh. It was more versatile, so to speak. More kinds of attacks were possible because of the sharp edges. After getting the feeling for it, I tried combining the two forms. Nearly impossible, is the only way to describe it. Suddenly going from using a sword technique, to suddenly shift into a whipping motion was as hard as it could get. The movements and balance of the things were so different; that it was a wonder people could use a weapon such as this. The focus on a swords movement is to hit something right in front of you, while for the whip it is about hitting something a couple of meters away from you. This change made it hard to hit properly. It would be extremely effective if the enemy tried to create some distance, but usually you would just close the distance, following them. But after thinking about it some more, I came to the conclusion that the weapon was still much more effective than one would think. If mastered, that is. Instead of having to jump after them, you would just stay where you are, still attacking them, forcing them to retreat even further. Moreover, if you¡¯re against someone wielding a sword, you would be able to fight them without ever entering their attack range. Of course, all this is only possible if you¡¯re able to master the weapon to a certain degree. Which I wasn¡¯t, at least not in one day. I was able to fight with the sword only, as expected, and with the whip to some degree. But not both at the same time, smoothly switching between them. More practice was needed, and it was already late. I would have to just stick to using the sword tomorrow, except in situations where a whip is more useful. Finished with my training, I ate and went to sleep. The next morning I packed a bag, which my parents bought for me, with a few necessities. The rest of the space in the bag would be filled with whatever share I would get from the hunting. Going to the tribe-manor, which was the meeting place, I saw the group of adventurers. Everyone looked eager to go, and I, as well, couldn¡¯t hide my excitement. Explaining to them that we would go west and hunt in the forest there, they agreed. The point I used to make them agree this easily was that, unlike me, they weren¡¯t used to moving and fighting in a swamp. Being prepared and with a goal, we set out. Let the hunt begin! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Author Notes: Hope you enjoyed this chapter, another actionless one. But look forward to the next one, there''s gonna be some action! :D And yay for whip-swords! I even finally got the puzzling sword to finish my Dark Souls 2 build xD (And no, not the first time getting it.) Oh, and also didn''t make the double ss''s for human speech, just as you guys wanted, but had to mention that it still happened. So if you want it, you can just go imagine it happening :D As always, please comment, all feedback is welcome. :3 Ps. We broke the 100 follower barrier. Next ones are 1k average views, 100 favourites, and 250 followers? :D Lets do this! Pss. Hopefully I''ll have the next chapter out tomorrow, we''ll see. :3 Chapter 7: You Think that would Work Twice on Me? Author Notes: Hey guys, early morning chapter here :D (Atleast in the CEST area! Well, it''s 9, but still early for me!) Couldn''t sleep tonight for some reason :o No idea what''s going on, so yeah, wrote this chapter. Btw, changed on the table in chapter 5, since I forgot some numbers to fix! D: Hopefully it works now xD So, I hope you enjoy! :D ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Chapter 7: You Think that would Work Twice on Me? Leaving the village the second time in my short life, I was as excited as the first time. This time a left with a group of adventurers, acting as their guide and extra manpower. My job was mostly guiding them through the swamp, avoiding beast nests, and showing them to good hunting grounds. I wasn¡¯t exactly a genius, but I had quickly adapted to moving in the swamp, and had learned a lot from maps and mothers explanations. If it came down to a fight where everything was needed, I would participate. I couldn¡¯t be called weak, but compared to battle-hardened adventurers, I was still only a kid with one lucky fight under my belt. Getting closer to the forest, I once again noticed shadows encircling us. So, these really are the Flurnes¡¯ hunting grounds. Luckily, this time they didn¡¯t attack immediately, probably due to our group being nearly as big as theirs. From what I could gather, there were 14, if not more of them. Me: ¡°Guys, remember when I told you about the Flurnes most probably hunting in this area? Well, 14 or more has us surrounded, if we¡¯re lucky, they will attack now, or retreat without returning.¡± Har¡¯Que(Pronounced Haqua, a bit like aqua: ¡°Ya sure? Ah can neither sens¡¯ nor see any. An¡¯ wha woul¡¯ it be good if the¡¯ attack¡¯d us now?¡± (AN: His name is pronounced Haqua, like aqua with an H in front. He¡¯s the Demon adventurer. Orcs have roughly the same style of names as Lizardmen, except they a first name, then a last name, his full name being Har¡¯Que(First name) Lo¡¯Gar(Last name). Their human is typically more primal, gonna try and make them hillbilly style. TRY!) Me: ¡°I¡¯m sure, this pattern and that I can only see shadows quickly moving about, it can only be Flurnes. And also, apparently I have better eyes than most others, spotting details others don¡¯t.¡± This mother and I had went to get tested the day after we had been ambushed by the Flurnes. Apparently, my parents hadn¡¯t noticed them in the slightest, while I had clearly seen shadows of figures circling us. And the result was that I indeed had better eyes than other Lizardmen, even other races. Not to mention my attention to detail and other small things, which could all be wrapped up as good eyesight. Right now, I was combining this with my ki, making me able to discern the shadows to some degree. Tracking their progress and counting them. Me: ¡°And to answer your other question, usually they hunt in groups between 8 and 16. We¡¯re 7 people. They rarely attack groups where they only number twice as many, they prefer thrice or more. If they attack now, we¡¯ll be able to, most likely, fight them off. But if they retreat, call reinforcement and attack with many times our number, we will stand no chance.¡± Father had taught me this during the past week. Other than learning about where the beasts lived, he also taught me their behavior, patterns, strengths and weaknesses. I more or less knew everything about Flurnes, both from learning from father, but also my personal experience. Even though they prefer hunting in small groups, they often help other groups if they come across a big group of strong prey. And we fit that description perfectly. Noticing one of them coming too close for comfort, entering my range, I quickly reacted. Pumping all the ki I could into my brain and eyes, I was able to slow everything down around me, if only by a bit. After doing so, I unsheathed my sword while pressing the button. This led the sword turning into its whip form as I unsheathed it. Due to this, I was able to attack from the get go. Moving my entire body, I moved my arm in an arc above my head, leading to the long whip-sword lashing out its full length, striking the Flurne that had moved too close. This was a technique I had come up with, not being able to transition properly in battle. This made me able to use whichever form of weapon I wanted to from the start of the battle. Of course, I was able to switch during the battle, but I would have to create enough distance to do it. Being as slow and clunky as it was with my skill. What followed the attack was a howl in pain, coming two meters from where I stood. I had felt how the sharp edges of the sword pieces had cut into the side of the beast, not to mention how the wire had whipped it. But to make it even more efficient, I pulled back the whip-sword as I once again pressed the button, leading it to retract to sword form. This led the blade pieces to slice through the back of the beast, making it, once again, howl in pain. Having retracted the sword, I could see bits and pieces of flesh and pelt on it, not to mention the blood covering it. The blood smelled very appetizing, and it looked as if it tasted just a good. Don¡¯t get me wrong, I was no sadist, I had just developed a natural liking to fresh blood and raw meat. No longer able to restrain myself, I licked some of it off the blade. It tasted just as good as I thought it would. Even better than the blood from the ones, I had killed a week ago. Meaning that the Flurne I had hit was clearly more experienced than those two were. Looking back at the adventurers, 5 of them had shocked expressions. This being from the fact that I had attacked so quickly and accurately, or of my bestial behaviour, I don¡¯t know. The only one with a different expression was the Demon, Har¡¯Que. Instead, he had a face of approval. Approval of both my skill, at calling the enemies out, and even attacking them when they were careless, taking the initiative. And approval of following my instincts, tasting the blood of my enemies, listening to the beast inside of me. You know what I mean. Anyway, quickly turning back my attention to my surroundings, I noticed that all the Flurnes had frozen. It was either from the shock of being attacked, or of the, supposedly, weakest in the group could deal so much damage, in such a short time. Oh, what damage, you ask. Well, not enough with my first attack cutting open it back and breaking some of its ribs. When I retracted the blade, it cut through the spine and killed the beast in a matter of seconds. Yes, I had killed it with a single attack. That just goes to show how lethal this weapon will be, ones I master it. After a moment, the Flurnes started moving again. But unlike my previous experience, they all retreated with all they had. For me, this looked like they had no intention to attack us again in the near future. Meaning they won¡¯t be getting another group to help them take us down. Me: ¡°Looks like we¡¯re clear. From the way they ran, I don¡¯t think they dare to come near us again. What do you guys think?¡± Turning around, I noticed that the five of them still were shocked. The Orc, however, seemed to accept the fact that a one month old could handle a beast they couldn¡¯t even detect. Har¡¯Que: ¡°Guys, ya shoul¡¯ rememb¡¯r dat ¡®e¡¯s a Lizar¡¯man. An¡¯ a prodigy on top o¡¯ dat.¡± After hearing this, they all seemed to accept reality to some degree. They had clearly underestimated me as some weak newborn who had no idea what he was doing. Humph, I¡¯ll show them! Anyway, what was important right now was the corpse and getting a move on. Even if it felt like they had fled without any intent to return, it wouldn¡¯t mean that they, or someone else, wouldn¡¯t attack us again. Me: ¡°Let¡¯s get this corpse packed up and be on our way. The blood has most likely started to attract other groups of predators, so I would suggest that we get a move on.¡± Hearing this, the entire group came out of their trance. Instantly packing up the Flurne corpse and continuing to head west. Around an hour later, we arrived at our destination. We had passed the boundary between swamp and forest a while ago, and continued. Our destination was a bit further in, being a small Kyurn nest. We didn¡¯t plan on hunting young, weak and isolated Kyurns, but those older, stronger and in small groups. The trip was planned to last until tomorrow evening, where we would return. We set up camp, not too far, nor too close to the nest. We wanted it to be in walking distance, but not so close that they would find us with ease. Stolen content alert: this content belongs on Royal Road. Report any occurrences. My dinner consisted of a piece of the Flurne I had killed earlier. Normally, the one who singlehandedly killed a beast, would get the entire thing. But because we agreed to share everything hunted, even if no one else helped with it. I would get 15% of all the spoils, while they got the rest. This was my pay as guide, but also as a hunter. It wasn¡¯t exactly great, but I got the mana crystal I wanted, so I was happy with it. It soon became dark outside, with the sun disappearing beneath the horizon, and the triple moons ascending. This world had a sun and 3 moons, all with names and symbols for different things. To be more precise, they were named and symbolized 4 of the Gods who created this world. The sun is named after Astlan, after the God of Justice, Freedom and Righteousness, and symbolized what he stood for. The 1st moon is named Rinia, after the Goddess of Love, Beauty and Fertility, also symbolizing what she stands for. The 2nd moon is named Synd, after the Goddess of Intelligence, Wisdom, Insight and Knowledge, symbolizing what she stands for. And last, but not least, the 3rd moon is named Virian, after the Goddess of Death, Murder, Hatred and Darkness, symbolizing what she stands for, by hiding behind the two other moons. Thinking about all of this as I was sitting first guard, I remembered that I still haven¡¯t checked on the updates since I killed that Flurne. Oh, and the reason I was first guard was because all the others were exhausted after traveling through the swamp. Unlike me, they¡¯re not used to it. Show Status.

Waking up at dawn as usual, I walked outside my tent. It wasn¡¯t anything special, just some fabric that was waterproof and a few sticks. Outside I noticed the Human priest being on watch. Her name was Cecelina, she¡¯s tall, slender, has short black hair, and a positive outgoing personality. I had quite taken a liking to her, she was easy to approach, and had nothing to do with the bad things I had heard about Humans. Actually, while we traveled I had learned that she was opposed to it. Apparently, she was a priest of the Goddess of Intelligence, Wisdom, Insight and Knowledge, Synd. And her teachings were that all races are equal in regard to knowledge. Humans were genius inventors, tacticians, etc., Fae were the best artisans, Demons were the best soldiers, Beastmen were the best hunters, scouts, warriors, etc., and Demi-human had the best from all the races, though more balanced towards it all. This led to that the church of Synd was shunned by many Human kingdoms and empires, but welcomed on all other continents, making it the most widespread one. That¡¯s what she told me at least. Back on track. Since it should be a few more hours before the others wake up, I told her that she could switch with me and get a bit more sleep. At first, she was reluctant, but after a bit of persuasion and telling her that we Lizardmen only needed 5 hours sleep a day, she accepted. The fact that we only needed 5 hours of sleep every day made life easier. It gave you more time to practice and hunt, while also reducing the amount of resting time needed when on hunting trips. The first thing I did was walk around checking my traps. Last night I had planted a few simple traps around the camp to try to warn us if something dangerous approached. They were simple traps my mother had taught me, nothing fool proof, but better than nothing. None of the traps had seemed to go off during the night, and I found no traces of bigger animals or beasts nearby, meaning that no nocturnal creature has its hunting ground right here. This was a good thing. It meant that we could use this spot as our campsite for the rest of the hunting trip, and feel safe using it. We still needed to have a guard posted all night, just to be sure, but it would surely lessen the burden on the guard. Returning I unsheathed my whip-sword and started practicing once again, all while remaining aware of my surroundings. I made no big improvements, but I managed to speed up my transition between the sword- and whip-form. Two hours later, everyone were awake. They prepared a quick breakfast while I just ate my raw meat. I tried some of the cooked meat last night, but for some reason it tasted worse than raw meat. Equipping their weapons and armour, we set off. Unlike me, they actually wore defensive equipment, while I was nearly stark naked, only wearing a ragged cloth over my groin area. Lizardmen rarely wore more, due to our thick scales, being our natural defence. As we were approaching the Kyurn nest, I stopped the group. I had received specific orders from mother on how to deal with a nest. The method is simple. You simply have a scout of some sort waiting near the nest, keeping an eye on them. And when said scout spots a group heading out, he will report it to the rest of the group. They will then follow the small group of beasts, and ambush them. This is how you deal with nests. Our goal wasn¡¯t to eradicate the nest, but just thin them out a bit, gaining valuable materials on top of it. Hearing this tactic, the others easily agreed. These areas are Lizardmen hunting grounds. Therefore, if you don¡¯t follow the rules, you will become the next prey. The Elven archer was chosen as the scout, and it was an obvious choice, since she was clearly the only one with stealth and tracking skills. After waiting for what seemed like half an hour, she returned, reporting that a group of 5 Kyurns left not long ago, heading north. I asked about their general sizes, and she told me that the biggest one was only 2 and a quarter meters high, while the other ones were 2 or lower. This meant that most of them were still young, so even if we fail our ambush, we will still be able to kill them without receiving too many wounds. We followed the Elf, and after another half hour, we arrived to a clearing where 5 medium sized Kyurns were enjoying themselves. Proceeding with the pre-planned plan, we surrounded the enemies. I was stationed near the strongest of them, together with Har¡¯Que. Because of my agility and high damage, and his high defences, we were to focus on the strongest of them. Waiting for the signal, I stood ready to strike it in the neck with my whip-form draw, hoping to use the ¡®First Blood¡¯ skill. As I saw the signal from Har¡¯Que, I instantly cut the neck of the biggest Kyurn the same way as I did with the Flurne. Except, this time I added even more ki, slashing harder and faster than before. When my small combo was done, the Kyurn roared in agony and anger, I had clearly upset it with that attack. However, just as it was about to charge at me, it was halted by Har¡¯Que. Not having time to look around, I rushed up to the Kyurn, circling it, and slashing the back of its neck repeatedly with my sword-formed whip-sword, deepening the wound. After a few slashes I could feel a heavy resistance and some white splinters flying around. I concluded that I had reached the spine Signalling Har¡¯Que, he circled the Kyurn while I drew its attention. The plan was for me to remove the pelt and flesh blocking the spine, and when it was exposed, he would cut through it, most likely killing the beast. As I now had its attention, and Har¡¯Que needed a few seconds to get in position and attack, I had to dodge, parry and block some of its attacks. Most of them were heavy, but very slow, allowing me to easily duck under or jump over them. But when it suddenly started shifting between heavy and fast attacks, it became much harder. It forced me to block and parry more often, leaving little time to dodge. I received a few scratches here and there, but only a couple of those went through my scales, drawing blood. After fighting it for those few seconds, which felt like hours, Har¡¯Que finally managed to land a hit, separating its cranium from the spine, killing it. Confirming that it was dead, I turned to look at the current state of the battle. The Elves were fighting one each, while the Beastman was fighting against the remaining too, with support from the Demi-human mage and Cecelina. It was an equal fighting ground right now, but after killing their leader, we would now take the advantage. I rushed over to help the Beastman, while Har¡¯Que would help the Elves. Agroing one of Kyurns, by whipping it in the side of the head, leaving a quite deep wound, it lifted some of the weight from the Beastman¡¯s shoulders. This Kyurn was the smallest of them all, only standing 1 and a half meter tall. It was clearly one the youngest one amongst the group, but I should be able to handle. I started with charging me with everything it had, indeed young and inexperienced. This allowed me to dodge under its tusks, creating an opening for me to slash its right armpit. And so I did, and the result was better than expected. Not enough with leaving a deep wound, I also accurately hit the tendon going from the shoulder down into the arm, immobilizing it. Instead of making it fear me, this only went to anger it further. Again, it charged me, but this time much faster and with more strength. This must be their so-called ¡®Blood Rush¡¯ mother told me about. Unauthorized reproduction: this story has been taken without approval. Report sightings. It¡¯s an ability that Kyurn activate when feeling cornered. However, usually only young ones use it, as the amount of blood that pumps through their veins increase, causing them to bleed out if they have any deep wounds. But waiting for it to bleed out wouldn¡¯t be entertaining, and would take too long, so I started practicing a bit. Now, I say practice, but it¡¯s more like being careful, and when an opening presents itself, I would try something new. When it finally reached me, this time it tried to bite me as well as stomp on me with its huge hooves. To this I responded by parrying the stomp so that the leg would get in the way of the bite. And due to ¡®Blood Rush¡¯, it ended up biting itself. Wanting to test something, I leapt backwards, creating some distance, and swung as I pressed the button, causing it to extent. It was a bit slow and clunky, but I managed to get the whip-sword to curve around the right leg, just above the hoof. Pulling it back as I pressed the button, I could hear, see and feel as the blade pieces cut the backside of the spot right above the hoof open, severing the tendon. Now with two limbs immobile, it fell on its side, completely helpless, but still furious. I walked up to it, with my sword-form whip-sword, preparing to finish it off, when it suddenly jumped at me. Somehow, it was able to exert enough energy in its legs to launch itself. Just as it was about to bite my throat, I forced even more ki to flow to my brain, speeding me up even further. This was a dangerous method, which could leave to physical and mental damages, and even damage to the ki flow and nerves. But it was either risk this, or die. Seeing everything slow down, I just barely managed dodge the sharp teeth of the Kyurn. Not losing this opening, I strengthened my right arm with ki and swung it up towards its throat. Apparently, I had used too much ki and strength, seeing as the blade cleanly went through its entire neck, severing its head in one strike. This shocked me for a bit, since it felt as if I had been cutting through butter, but remembering that I wasn¡¯t the only one fighting, I looked to the adventurers. But what I saw calmed me down. There was only one Kyurn left standing, and it was heavily wounded, while the adventurers only had a few scratches. A minute later, the corpses of 5 Kyurn surrounded us. We were all extremely happy that we managed to kill all five of them. After quickly bagging them up, we went back to the camp. On the way, I checked my status.
Stats Points Gained
For cutting the head off of a creature bigger than you with one slash, you have become stronger. +10 STR, +5 DEX.
16x Level Up
For assisting with killing a strong enemy, and killing an opponent stronger than you, you have leveled up.
Not bad, and it¡¯s the first time I¡¯ve gotten strength, must be because of the raw power behind that strike. However, 16 levels. That¡¯s low compared to the other times, but it does make sense, since I would have to slow down at some point. Doesn¡¯t mean it¡¯s bad though, in fact, it¡¯s good, this way I will be even stronger. Well, let¡¯s dismiss these messages and see the Status Window.

Not much changed, except I got a bit stronger. Both my stamina and ki is somewhat low, and I feel a bit groggy. I guess this is what happens when you forcefully use too much ki. When we made it back to the camp, we decided to rest a couple of hours before going hunting again. It was enough time for me to take a decent nap and fully recover, and so I did. Before falling asleep, I thought about the fights today. I need stronger enemies, but it was still fun. The thrill and excitement of a life and death battle. The thrill of the hunt. So this is why people like to hunt¡ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Author Notes: Hope you enjoyed this chapter, tried to include some more combat, but will also have combat in the next one :D Loud music really helps you concentrate on staying awake, only thing keeping me from dozing off <.< So if I don''t answer any of your comments, that''s because I fell asleep, will answer them tomorrow though :D So leave me them juicy comments and reviews ^^ BAI! Chapter 9: The Most Dangerous Fight in My Life? Author Notes: Here comes chapter 9! :DDDDDD *Fireworks go off* Anyway, here''s chapter 9, enjoy reading it! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Chapter 9: The Most Dangerous Fight in My Life? It was now the last day of hunting, and we planned to leave after one killing one last group of Kyurn. After the first group, it had mostly just been young ones we that left the nest, but today was different. I had managed to reach level 87, which is extremely high for someone my age, even if they had the same growth as me. Today a near 3 meter tall Kyurn left the nest, with 5 small ones. Looks like they noticed that they slowly died off, sending one of their oldest and strongest to protect the young ones. We decided to take this fight, even if it would be the hardest, now I just came down to deciding how we would engage them. Me: ¡°The only danger is the 3 meter tall one, the rest of them are all young, and nothing we can¡¯t deal with.¡± Har¡¯Que: ¡°Dat true, but whoev¡¯s gonna go against da big one, is gonna ha¡¯ a hard tim¡¯. Someon¡¯ agile would be bes¡¯.¡± After Har¡¯Que said that, everyone turned to look at me. Over the past two days, everyone had started to notice my talent. I was agile, strong, and fast, having nearly no weaknesses. I had also become much better at wielding the whip-sword; I could now switch between sword- and whip-form easily. But, I still couldn¡¯t combine the techniques properly, making me stick with either whip or sword attacks. Their looks told me that it was decided that I would face off against the biggest one, while they would take on the young ones. Half an hour later we were here, ready to ambush the group of Kyurns. The plan was for me to attack first, getting my damage buff and hopefully damaging the Kyurn enough to slow it. After ensuring that everyone were in position, I readied myself. Drawing the whip-sword while pressing the button on the hilt, I made a strike similar to the one I used to kill the Flurne. But this time it was more powerful, fast and smooth, making it at least double as deadly as before. Aiming for the left front leg, I struck with everything I had. Infusing ki and pushing my muscles to the limit, both my arm and the rest of the body. The blade finally reached the Kyurn, striking the pelt of where I had aimed. Watching it sink into the flesh, I waited until it wouldn¡¯t get any deeper. The second it stopped, I pulled with all my strength while pressing the button. Resulting in the flesh in a line from where the blade pieces had sunk in got ripped off. Seeing the start of the fight, the others attacked the 5 younger Kyurns, leaving me with the biggest one. Turning back to my fight, I saw the Kyurn leaping towards me at an incredible speed. It reached me in less than a second, making me nearly unable to react. I managed to block its tusks, but it left me to take the force head on. It lead to me being thrown back a few meters, while feeling my bones creak at every movement. But before I hit the ground, I was able to use my tail to fix my balance and land on the feet. Being back where we had begun, except from its wound and my creaking bones, I decided to not let my attention leave it, even for a second. Losing patience, it once again charged towards me. But this time¡ I was prepared. As soon as it was about to hit me, I shifted my entire weight with the help from my tail, dodging under its tusks, leaving its stomach wide open for me. However, as I was about to attack its right back leg, it jumped, dodging my slash. Looks like this Kyurn isn¡¯t only stronger, but also smarter than the others I¡¯ve met so far. Again, we stood facing off. However, this time I was the one to charge. When I closed in on it, it tried to charge and pierce me with its tusks. I had already expected this. Infusing ki into my legs, and then jumping, I was able to dodge its tusks by a hairs breath, this time leaving its back exposed to me. Slashing at the back of its neck, I was able to get a clean cut in. Looks like it hadn¡¯t expected me to jump. Well, that just makes it easier. However, my slash wasn¡¯t able to cut more than a centimetre or two in. Before it could turn, I charged at it again. Instead of jumping or rolling, I ran towards its exposed right side, following its rotation. Getting up next to it, I slashed from the front leg all the way to the hind leg, leaving a long and deep wound running across its right side. The wound was deeper than the one I left on its neck. This was because I had more time and better balance, allowing me to put all my strength into it. Howling in pain, the Kyurn tried to stomp on me. It had slowed considerably, this being because of the pain, or because I wounded something like tendons, I don¡¯t know. All I know is that its slower than before. The other reason it has become so slow, could also be because I¡¯ve become able to constantly slow time, in my eyes, by 15% instead of 10. I achieved this after the hunt before this one, but I hadn¡¯t expected the 5% to be that useful. Anyway, it being so slow allowed me to parry its hoof, opening up its left side. Exploiting this, I ran along its left side, sliding my blade through its flesh, leaving a nearly similar wound as on the right side. Stopping up and facing it, I spent some time catching my breath, allowing the Kyurn to turn and face me. I might be strong, but working my young body this hard, still makes me run out of breath. It didn¡¯t move for a while, just observing me, but after a while, it seemed to have come to a decision. Something that changed the tides of the battle. Activating ¡®Blood Rush¡¯ it rushed at me, this time too fast for me to react. Before I knew it, I was in the air, coughing blood and flying twice as high and far as above. Luckily the tusks hadn¡¯t pierced me, but just the impact had caused me a lot of damage. Because of the pain, I wasn¡¯t able to correct my balance, making me land hard on my back. The impact made me cough up more blood. I could taste my thick, warm, dark, nearly black, red blood. It tasted like metal and felt like magma, even if I had never felt that, this is how I would imagine it to be. Warm and thick. Getting back my senses, I could feel the whip-sword in my hand, and decided to get up, remembering that I was in a life and death battle. My whole body was moaning and creaking, as I forced it to stand up. After finally getting up, I looked to my opponent, seeing it still standing there. Probably being convinced of its win, and wanted me to get on my feet before finishing me off. My vision being a bit blurry from the impact, made me only see a shadow, but I knew it was there. It would be hard, but I could still fight like this. Before I managed to finish my thoughts, it rushed towards me. However, this time I was able to see it coming. Running towards it, I dodged under its tusks by sliding across the grass, exposing its stomach once again. But unlike last time, I was able to hit it. That was the one weakness of ¡®Blood Rush¡¯. It made its user incredibly strong, but made them just as reckless. Attacking while forgetting to defend. I stabbed my whip-sword into its stomach, leaving its momentum to tear open its stomach. And it did. What followed was that its entire stomach was cut open, making almost all of its guts spill out. Still rushing forward for a bit, the Kyurn didn¡¯t notice the damage done to it. But after only a second, the brain caught up, and it died instantly from the pain, the shock killing it. Getting up, I checked myself. I was covered in blood and guts, from head to toe. Some had even entered my mouth, replacing my magma like blood with the relatively thinner and much tastier blood. This time, I looked over the damage I had received. My bones were creaking, my flesh was moaning, and I could feel some of my internal organs just holding on. One more of its hits, and I would have been dead. I also looked to my whip-sword. The edge was slightly chipped, from the days of combat. Even if I maintain it after every use, and once a day no matter what, it won¡¯t repair it. I would have to go to a blacksmith to do that, and I was planning to do so soon. It would probably have been bent if it had been a normal sword, but being a whip-sword it¡¯s made out of pieces, allowing it to bend without being bent. Finishing my check-up, I left to find Cecelina, the Human priest. I might not be in danger, but it hurt so much that I felt like passing out. Everything was hurting, and moving around didn¡¯t help. Turning to the rest of the battlefield, what I saw was that only two of the five young Kyurns were alive. They were heavily wounded, while the adventurers only had scratches and minor cuts. Find this and other great novels on the author''s preferred platform. Support original creators! Walking to the backline of the fight, I found Cecelina. When she saw me, she had a look of worry, and came rushing at me. Me: ¡°Hey, I finished my fight, but not unscathed. I think that one of my lungs and some other of my organs are about to stop functioning, and some of my bones must be fractured. Mind healing me a bit?¡± Even though my throat felt dry, even after having drunk some blood, I managed to speak, even throwing a joke in there to try to lighten her mood. And it worked, I could see relief visible on her face, looks like she understood that I wouldn¡¯t be dying. Cecelina: ¡°I don¡¯t mind. Why don¡¯t you sit down and rest while I heal you, the others should be done soon.¡± I sat down, and let Cecelina do her thing. Slowly the pain started to fade, as if it had never been there before. Holy healing magic. It had surprised me every time. Unlike restoration magic, it heals the body instantly, repairing the body instantly. Restoration magic speeds up the body¡¯s natural healing, making it easy to cure diseases and such, while holy healing magic reverts the body¡¯s condition, making it as before a the wound was inflicted. It can only cure curses, not diseases, and the older the wound, the rarer it was for it to be healed by holy healing magic. Therefore, holy healing magic is used for combat and curses, while restoration magic is used for old wounds or diseases. A few minutes later, the others returned. All their wounds were shallow and would heal overtime. But just to be sure, Cecelina healed everyone, ensuring that no scars were left on them. Of course, Har¡¯Que refused this. Unless it was lethal, Orcs would let the wounds be, and receive the scars. It¡¯s something about their culture regarding having many scars as being very strong and experienced. Hell, even us Lizardmen respect those with scars on their scales. When people first saw the one I got from the Flurnes that ambushed us, they respected me a bit more, and believed that I had singlehandedly killed two of them. Anyway, after having healed and rested, we started packing up, putting the useful parts of our prey in our bags, which we hid while fighting. When we reached the corpse of my opponent, they all had a shocked expression on their faces. They had the exact same expression when they first returned from battle, seeing me covered in blood. Har¡¯Que: ¡°Ya re¡¯ly did it in, ya did. From wha¡¯ ah can see, the firs¡¯ slas¡¯, a long slas¡¯ on each sid¡¯, an¡¯ the cut to da tummy. No¡¯ a clean kill, bu¡¯ hell, a kill is a kill, espec¡¯ly against an en¡¯my lik¡¯ dat.¡± To this comment, the others agreed. I did as well. It might not have been clean, but at least I managed to kill that thing. It wasn¡¯t easy, and if not for the healing, I would probably have died from an ambush on the way back. But I killed it. After that we packed up and headed back to the camp, on the way I opened my Status Window to see what¡¯s changed after that fight.

Thanks :D Adios! Chapter 10: Level Limits a Bitch? Author notes: Hey guys! Sorry for the long break, but still in time for the 2 day deadline :D Anyway, no action this chapter (only a sentence XD SPOILER!), anyway, next chapter will be amazing, hopefully XD So yeah, enjoy! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Chapter 10: Level Limit¡¯s a Bitch? Me: ¡±What the hell is this?!¡± Because of my sudden outburst, everyone else jumped from it, instantly raising their guards. After a few seconds, they could see that it had nothing to do with an ambush and calmed down, lowering their guards slightly. Cecelina: ¡±What is what, Li?¡± She asked me, clearly still surprised by my outburst. Oh, and yeah. Since I don¡¯t have a name yet, they just call me Li. Would be weird if they had to call me ¡®little one¡¯. Me: ¡°Sorry about that outburst. I was just annoyed that my level had reached 100 and saying that it was the level limit. Never heard about that.¡± Hearing this, everyone looked at me with understanding and slightly relieved eyes. Must have been relieved that I still had some childish aspects. What the hell?! Cecelina: ¡°I¡¯ll explain the basics, but you will have to ask your parents about the specifics, since they change from every race.¡± To this I nodded, confirming that I understood. Cecelina: ¡°You should know about the rankings of ki techniques and magic, right? You do, good. The same ranking also goes for living beings. Everything can level up after gaining adequate experience, and there are many ways to get experience, the most common being fighting and defeating others, not necessarily killing them. When reaching that limit, which changes from race to race, the standard being 100, you reach a limit. This limit is something you need to breakthrough, which changes from class to class. Now, this is where the rankings come in. After the first breakthrough, you reach 1st rank with that class, and then it follows the same ranking, except that they change the ranks after the 10th. But there are only 4 ranks above the 10th, like with techniques and magic. Understand?¡± I see, so it worked like that, and I guess reaching the 14th rank will make your strength near the same as gods. Cecelina: ¡°The monsters we have been fighting have mostly been 1st rank creatures, but the bigger ones we fought were 2nd rank or above, the biggest was 3d, making it surprising that you beat it. But don¡¯t get cocky, these were simple beasts, a skilled creature, like you, can easily overpower someone a few ranks above them. I forgot to mention that after reaching the 1st rank the level limit can increase. The standard, being most of the Human classes, is 100, then 125, increasing the limit by 25 each time. Making the level limit of the 10th rank 350. Some have higher limits, some lower. Anyway, one¡¯s lifespan is usually connected to the rank they have. Like, a human 10th ranker can live for a thousand years; an 11th ranker can live for some thousand years, while a 12th, or above, ranker is immortal, in the meaning that he can¡¯t die from diseases nor age. Of course, these people are rare. Legend has it that only 1 person reached the 14th rank, becoming a God. It also explains that he became a God of some other realm. Someone reaching 10th rank is extremely rare, but those reaching the ranks above are legends. For example, all of us are 3th rank, making us above the average, being 2nd rank. Most Human farmers and villagers reach the 2nd rank, giving them a lifespan of about 75 years. Well, for how yours work, you will have to ask your parents or someone from your tribe, since we don¡¯t know. I hope this helped.¡± That certainly helped a lot; it¡¯s going to take some time to process it all. To sum it up: There are many ways to get levels, changing with what race or class you are. Levels have a limit, when reached; you¡¯re able to have a breakthrough, ranking you up. The level limit changes with the races and classes, and increases with each rank increase. Ranks are connected to the lifespan, making those strong able to live for hundreds, if not thousands, of years. That I can beat beasts being the 3rd rank, but with difficulty. Quite simple really, if you think about it. Cecelina: ¡°Two last things I forgot to mention. The first being that usually each ranking, when it comes to combat related classes and races, have double the power of the previous rank. For an example, the ¡®Elder Kyurn¡¯ you fought is around 4 times as strong as the young ones, if not more. But this is in terms of just power, if you add experience and skills in, it can be several times more. The second is that the breakthroughs for combat classes and races are usually a new technique, magic, or better control of the body, ki, or mana.¡± I see, so outside of the ranking system, which mostly connects with the body, there¡¯s also skills, experience and a lot of other things playing in. With this I returned my attention back to what we were doing. After returning to camp, we rested for a few hours, before packing everything and heading back to the village. The return was mostly uneventful, except from the fact that Flurnes never learn. A group tried to ambush us again, but before they could, I killed one of them, making them retreat. I did it the same way as last time, except this time I did much more damage. Instead of a deep cut in the back of the Flurne I hit, it was cut in half. Hopefully, they would know better than trying to ambush me now. Finally being back in the village, we headed to my house, if you can call it that, in order to split the loot. Arriving, I found mother in her workshop, as always. From what I gathered, she is one of the best craftsmen in the village, making her work pile up quickly. Me: ¡°Mom, I¡¯m back!¡± Hearing me, she turned around with a warm smile; relief evident in her eyes, ran over and hugged me. She must have been worried about my safety. Li¡¯Hiet: ¡°Welcome home, little one. Good hunt?¡± You might be reading a stolen copy. Visit Royal Road for the authentic version. Me: ¡°Yes, mom. I invited the others here so that we could split the loot in peace, is that fine?¡± Li¡¯Hiet: ¡°Of course, little one. I will get you something to eat and drink in a minute.¡± Mother told me with the same warm smile she had when she turned around. I don¡¯t know why, but seeing her lizard smile makes me feel happy for some reason. Returning to the living room, I saw that all the bags had been emptied. In a pile in the middle was bones, pelt, fangs, tusks, claws and dried meat, the result of a few days of hunting. Har¡¯Que: ¡°You¡¯re back. We were just about to take it all for ourselves and leave.¡± To this, everyone laughed, even I, since it was clearly a joke. Har¡¯Que: ¡°Anyway, we need to get all this divided. We agreed that you would receive 15% of the total sum, excluding the two Flurne you killed yourself. After a bit of thought, we concluded that it would be best to give you what you wanted, equalling 15% of the total value. So, what would you prefer to have?¡± That was nice of them, letting me take what I needed the most, since they were going to sell it all anyways. After a bit of thought, I chose the pelt from the ¡®Elder Kyurn¡¯, its biggest fangs, a few of its claws and bones plus most of the dried meat. This all totalled to around 15%, because of the pelt being high quality and expensive. My plan was to make some sort of clothing from the pelt. I was getting tired only wearing a rag over my groin. Though there was nothing showing, it was still weird being so naked. Their reaction to what I took looked as if they had expected it. After packing up the rest, they were about ready to leave, when my mother entered and stopped them. Li¡¯Hiet: ¡°Why don¡¯t you eat with us and stay the night? There should be room in little one¡¯s room and we have a few vegetables that you could eat.¡± (AN: Of course, her speech also has the double ss¡¯s, but won¡¯t write ¡®em! You wanted it like that, not me!!! >:C) To this they looked a bit shocked, and started thinking it over. Shortly after Cecelina spoke up. Cecelina: ¡°We wouldn¡¯t want to intrude.¡± Li¡¯Hiet: ¡°Please don¡¯t be so polite. We would be glad to have you over. Especially because you took so care of our son.¡± Cecelina: ¡°In that case, I guess it would be rude to refuse. We would be glad to stay tonight.¡± Li¡¯Hiet: ¡°As I said, don¡¯t be so polite. Go ahead and store your things in the workshop, then you can set up your bedding in little one¡¯s room. Little one, why don¡¯t you help them?¡± With that, we all got up and moved their bags and equipment into the workshop. Afterwards we set up their bedding in my room, splitting it in two. One side being for females, the other for males. Although we split it up, it¡¯s not like the girls were scared of something happening, but just a normal thing. Unless someone were a couple, people of opposite sex would rarely sleep close to each other. Having finished setting up, we went back to the living room, where my mother was waiting with different kinds of dishes. They were made from many different kinds of meat and plants. Most of the meat I recognized as Kyurn, Flurne and other beasts that lived in the near vicinity of the village. I only recognized a few of the plants, reason being that I only ate meat. After having a fulfilling dinner, we all retired for the night. I spread out my new pelt over the others I had, giving me with a comfortable and soft ¡®bed¡¯ to sleep on. The next morning, the group ate breakfast with mother and me, before leaving town. I saw them off as they left with the merchant. It had been fun hunting with them, and hopefully, I would meet them all again one day. Returning home, I remembered that I still had to ask mother about the level limit thing. Remembering, I ran and found mother in the workshop. She turned around after hearing me rush in, waiting for me to speak. Me: ¡°Mom, yesterday I reached level 100 and reached the limit. Cecelina, the Human priest, told me about the level and ranking system, but told me to ask someone else for my level limit.¡± I talked like a machinegun, still catching my breath after sprinting with all my strength. Li¡¯Hiet: ¡°I see, so you already reached the limit, I¡¯m so proud of you!¡± She said as she hugged me tight, putting me in a good mood. I loved my mother very much. She was gentle and caring, but this made her worry a lot and try to protect me by taking my freedom to some degree. Li¡¯Hiet: ¡°But I¡¯m sorry to tell you, little one, but you can¡¯t have a breakthrough yet.¡± Hearing this instantly ruined my good mood, making me a bit gloomy. Li¡¯Hiet: ¡°I said, not yet, but soon enough. You see, to breakthrough, you need a class, or something equal to that, and you don¡¯t receive yours before becoming a year old. So you¡¯ll have to wait.¡± Well, at least it won¡¯t be that long until I become able to breakthrough, only a bit more than 8 months left. Oh, I forgot to talk about the time system in this world. Well, it¡¯s very simple. Every year is 10 months. Every month is 40 days. Every week is 8 days. ..¡ ¡ . That¡¯s it. There¡¯s nothing below days, weird right? Well, it¡¯s like that because people use different methods to slow time in their perception, so people just count the suns and moons, making it days. Anyway, now I¡¯ll just have to wait for me to turn 1 year old, become an adult and have my breakthrough. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Author notes: Thanks for reading, and hope you enjoyed it! :D Will try and write another chapter tomorrow, but we''ll see. :3 Anyway, as always, please leave a comment, rate, all that. BUT, only do it if you want, no forcing xD See ya next time! Ps. We reached 200 followers, 1200 average views and almost 50 favourites (Stats from just before posting this!) :O THE PRESSURE IS REAL... jk. Chapter 11: Why did That Idiot Mage Create this Curse? Author Notes: Heyo, here''s chapter 11, sorry for the slight delay, took ages to create the tables xD Enjoy! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Chapter 11: Why did That Idiot Mage Create this Curse? I¡¯m now a year old, and the ceremony is tomorrow. In the last 8 months, I have been practicing my swordsmanship and whip wielding. And after reaching a substantial amount of experience, I combined the styles, creating my own whip-swordsmanship. On top of that, I have been hunting from time to time. Even after reaching the level limit, I still hunted. This was to gain experience and money, and to fight boredom. The experience I needed in order to prepare myself for fighting stronger enemies, and the money I needed in order to get a house in the village and buy the necessary things. I learned a lot these past 8 months. The first time I went to have my mana crystal recharged, I asked the tribe mage how to manipulate mana. He told me that I won¡¯t be able to do so before my 1st birthdays ceremony. Curious, I ask why it was like that, and what he told me was truly shocking. After the First Great War, many tribes of Lizardmen had risen, growing in strength and numbers. And at one point, we became too many, filling all the swamps and other places Lizardmen prefer to settle. Due to this, the greatest mage of the Lizardmen cast something that could be called a curse on us. Yes, one of our kin cursed our entire race¡ The curse he cast on us was that when we were born, we had our true potential sealed, leaving us as weak as the non-sentient Lizardmen. But when turning a year old, a ceremony can be held, which removes this curse, revealing a Lizardman¡¯s true potential. Of course, this reveal is painful, or so he told me. It will change the body, making it bigger or smaller depending on the class you receive. A warrior grows bigger, a hunter more compact, and a mage smaller. The pain only last as long as the transformation, apparently making it feel like it never was there when it disappears. I wasn¡¯t looking forward to this pain, but it was necessary for us to grow stronger. After casting this curse, the amount of Lizardmen quickly declined in a single generation, leaving it at a stable number. We¡¯re by no means endangered, but we¡¯re as low in numbers as the elves, due to their low fertility and our survival rates. After finding out that I couldn¡¯t charge the crystal myself, I had to visit the mages from time to time, paying for the service. It was not expensive, but it would be nice to be able to charge it myself. I also learned much more about ki, and even developed a few techniques, making me even stronger. Learning how to create techniques took quite a while. Unlike using it to strengthen my body, I had to move it out of my body, and manipulate it there. The techniques I developed are quite simple, and already existed, from what mother told me. One was where I coated my entire weapon in my ki, strengthening it and making it sharper. Another was that I coated my weapon, like the former one, but instead of making it stay on the weapon, I release it as I slash, making it release a small wave of ki. This allowed me to use a ranged attack with a reach of 5 meter, for now. Both these techniques also work with the whip-form, making it more lethal. The last one I made was that I covered my body with my ki, making it a shield. This could also be used to attack, coating my hands and fingers, making both harder and my claws sharper. I also discovered that ki has a colour, which is coloured after the wielder. With Humans it¡¯s hard to guess what colour they have, but it¡¯s obvious with Lizardmen. Lizardmen¡¯s ki colour is the same as their scales. Simple, right? Well, also extremely useful, since it blends with our scales, making some short of defensive ki armour nearly invisible to an untrained eye. Well, enough about the past. My ceremony is tomorrow, and all preparations are done and it was late, so I headed to bed, hoping tomorrow wouldn¡¯t be too painful. The next morning I woke up as usual, at sunrise. I still have no idea why this happens all the time, but it looks like the same happens for everyone else, except the night team. Getting myself dressed, I take a glance at my ¡®Elder Kyurn¡¯ coat. I had the pelt from the ¡®Elder Kyurn¡¯ tailored into a coat, designed for Lizardmen. It was sleeveless and fit tight around my upper body, with a coattail that freely followed my movements. It had been enchanted with some simple runes that made it adjust to its user. This enchantment was as common as the backpack one, making it cheap and often used on clothing and armour made from expensive materials. Cheap as in costing the same as a standard sword. On top of it, I wore simple leather armour, covering my chest and shoulders, and a pair of iron gauntlets covering the top of my hands and my forearms. On my lower body, I wore a pair of short leather trousers, and a pair of iron greaves. I bought the iron wares from merchants, while the leather was from prey I had hunted. I¡¯m now around 160 cm tall, making me the same height as a normal 13 year old human. But I bet I weight much more. This is most likely because of my scales and compact muscles. Being this tall has made my whip-swords range seem smaller, so I hope that I would be able to find a longer one in the near future. My tail has also grown, making it easier for me to use in battle. Before I rarely used it because I wasn¡¯t able to use it above balancing myself and it was too short. But now I have incorporated it in my fighting style as a weapon, making me even more dangerous. And as if that¡¯s not enough, I can also cover it with ki, making it hard and sharp, and release a wave of ki when slashing with it. Tails are truly terrifying weapons. Going to the living room, I¡¯m greeted with both of my parents waiting with food ready. Usually my father would sleep all day, but since this is my special day, he skipped last nights hunt. Me: ¡°Good morning, mom, dad.¡± Turning to me, father spoke. Li¡¯Sle: ¡°Good morning, son, hope you¡¯re ready for the ceremony.¡± Me: ¡°Of course I am, but not looking forward to the unsealing.¡± Li¡¯Sle: ¡°Hahaha, of course you¡¯re not, who is? Hurts like hell. But that pain means power, so deal with it.¡± We had some small talk as we ate before heading out. As we walked towards the tribe-manor, where the ceremony would be held, we met many other Lizardmen. Everyone were to participate, except the night team, which would just be told by the others. Arriving at the small plaza in front of the manor, I headed to the centre, where the Elders stood. The ceremony was simple and didn¡¯t take much time. To start with, I would touch a stone, which had an enchantment that allowed it to expand and show everyone else the persons Status Window, and show my Status Window before the curse is removed. Then the Elders would name me, and then remove the curse. After I was done changing from the unsealing, I would once again show my Status Window. And the ceremony would be over. I would be an adult, and would have to either built a new house or take over one of the empty ones. Elder Hez¡¯Orae: ¡°Attention, fellow Lizardmen. Today we¡¯re here to celebrate this newborns first birthday, accepting his an adult. The first son of Li¡¯Sle and Li¡¯Hiet. Now, place your hand on the stone and will it to show your Status Window.¡± I did as told, and showed everyone my Status Window.

I had gained a few stats, but not that many. Apparently the beasts I had hunted didn¡¯t give much, since I was much stronger than them, and my training only gained me the title ¡®Martial Artist¡¯, which only showed that I knew martial arts. Seeing my Status Window, a small outburst happened. Well, I was level 100 and had great stats, compared to that most newborn die before even turning 1 year old. Elder Hez¡¯Orae: ¡°A truly marvellous Status Window. Reaching the level limit, getting many titles and having high stats.¡± Elder Hez¡¯Orae wasn¡¯t the only one praising me, everyone else did as well. If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation. After everyone had calmed down, Elder Hez¡¯Orae spoke again. Elder Hez¡¯Orae: ¡°For the next part of the ceremony, you will be given a name. Taking into consideration of your strength and all the hunting you¡¯ve done, you will be given the name Kyes. Kyes means Death in the Ancient Lizardman tongue, and we grant you this name for brining death to your enemies, but defy it yourself. From today you shall be known as Li¡¯Kyes, may you live long and become strong! Remove the curse from this Lizardman, and let him feel his true potential!¡± After he said this, pain spread through my entire body, making me scream in pain and fall to the ground. It felt as if a power stronger than any I had ever felt was pushing out from my very core, breaking me in the process. I could feel the power being absorbed by my every atom, adding the feeling of burning alive on top of the already intense pain. I thrashed around on the ground, screaming in pain for what felt like hours. Finally, after feeling the power having been completely absorbed, removing the feeling of breaking and burning, I stopped and caught my breath. After gaining my bearings once again, I stood up. I felt more powerful than I ever had, as if every fibre in my body had become many times stronger. Quickly, before anyone could say anything, I checked my Status Window.

I¡¯m not as strong, but I will now be able to utilize magic, and still stay agile. This sounds very interesting. Being both a Mage and Hunter, you can hunt with the others and act as one of the tribe¡¯s mages.¡± I don¡¯t know what a tribe mage does, but it sounds like it will give me privileges, so I won¡¯t decline. Hez¡¯Orae: ¡°We will initiate you as a tribe mage later, but for now you need to choose your housing. Move into an abandoned house or build a new one, and if you choose to build a new house, then you need to choose where to build it.¡± This was an easy choice, since I had already decided it a few months ago. Me: ¡°I will¡¡± ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Author Notes: Thanks for reading, and hoped you enjoyed this chapter :D I don''t have a lot to say in these notes, so just leave them comments and stuff xD Chapter 12: I Will Become a Council Apprentice? Author Notes: Hey everyone, sorry for the slight delay (The date will show it took 3 days, but it only took about 2 days and a few hours :3) (EDIT: WAIT WHAT? It shows 2 days, phew <.<) This chapter is kinda short, since not a lot will happen, but only about 75% of the standard length, so no worries. Enjoy! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Chapter 12: I Will Become a Council Apprentice? Me: ¡±I will build a new house as my home.¡± Hez¡¯Orae: ¡°In that case I hope you have chosen the location, planned on how it should be build and have the resources to do so.¡± Me: ¡°Of course I have, Elder Hez¡¯Orae.¡± In fact, I was quite rich. After many successful hunts, I had amassed quite a bit of wealth, more than enough to build a small house. Me: ¡°I plan on building a small house with a living room, bedroom and workshop in the north-eastern part of town.¡± I had been sightseeing for good spots to live this past month, and found a nearly dry area northeast to the village. This would lead to my house degrading slower than if they were built elsewhere, and leave me close to the road out of the village. To the northeast, there was the elven town, which was the closest to this village. And the only road leading to the village lead to that town. I was planning to take regular trips to said town, in order to sell loot, buy and repair equipment and become an adventurer, if I felt like it. There was also the fact that I was now capable to learn magic, and from what I know, right now, the only affinities I could learn spells from were Shadow and Blood. Hez¡¯Orae: ¡°Splendid. For now, let¡¯s end this ceremony, and then discuss the details afterwards.¡± After seeing me nod in response, he continued on. Hez¡¯Orae: ¡°With this, another adult has joined our village. May he grow strong and live long.¡± Elder Hez¡¯Orae ended the ceremony with this. Afterwards all the Lizardmen who had gathered came, wished me congratulations, and introduced themselves. Most were younglings under the age of 10, since they all belonged to the day team, but the Elders also congratulated me. When the last Lizardman had finished and left, my parents came up to me. Both were clearly proud, and I could see my mother was close to bursting. Not being able to hold back any longer, she ran to me, followed by a hug. Li¡¯Hiet: ¡°Congratulations, little one, or should I call you Li¡¯Kyes now?¡± She asked me with a mischievous smile. Me: ¡°You can call me whatever you want, mom.¡± I answered her with a smile. Li¡¯Sle: ¡°Congratulations, son.¡± Me: ¡°Thanks, dad.¡± Afterwards we stood and talked for a bit, mostly trivial talk. Done talking with my parents, I went into the tribe-manor. I was going to have a chat with the Elders about where exactly I wanted to build my new house and how it should be build. We were also going to be discussing what work I would be doing in the village, and in light of me being a mage, I would also be able to become one of the tribe mages, giving me responsibilities as well as advantages. Entering, what greeted me was something like a lobby, with a female Lizardman sitting behind a desk. Seeing me enter, she smiled and addressed me before I could say something. Female Lizardman: ¡°Li¡¯Kyes, was it? They¡¯re waiting for you in the council room; it¡¯s behind the door to my right.¡± Bowing my head to her in acknowledgement, I walked towards the door and went through it. Behind it was a big table in the shape of a horseshoe with Lizardmen sitting around it. In the middle of the horseshoe was a single chair, which Elder Hez¡¯Orae gestured towards. Taking my seat, I took another look at the Lizardmen sitting at the table. In the centre sat the tribe-leader, this was easy to conclude since he was the youngest and had the strongest feeling to him. Then from both side of him sat Elders, the further from the middle, the younger they were. Right next to the tribe-leader sat Elder Hez¡¯Orae, this was why I noticed him so quickly. As I finished looking at my surroundings, Elder Hez¡¯Orae stood and spoke up. Hez¡¯Orae: ¡°I present to you the young Li¡¯Kyes. The newest addition to our village, first born son of Li¡¯Sle and Li¡¯Hiet. His class is a Mage Hunter variation, giving him the attributes of both a mage and hunter. His natural affinities are Shadow and Blood. He¡¯s level 100, having reached the limit, and has many titles.¡± After announcing me, Elder Hez¡¯Orae sat down once again. Hearing this, many of the Elders were whispering. With my excellent hearing I could make out that they talked about how it was rare and that I had a lot of potential. When all their whispering stopped, the tribe-leader spoke up. This tale has been unlawfully obtained from Royal Road. If you discover it on Amazon, kindly report it. Tribe-leader: ¡°As the tribe-leader I welcome you to my tribe, and I hope that you will become a great asset for this village. Now, onto the first matter. Elder Hez¡¯Orae, if you will.¡± To this, Elder Hez¡¯Orae once again stood up. Hez¡¯Orae: ¡°Yes, the first matter is about the house. Where will it be built, how, and does he have the resources to do so. If you will, young Li¡¯Kyes.¡± This time I stood up, as Hez¡¯Orae took his seat. Me: ¡°Honoured tribe-leader and Elders, I want to build a small house of wood with a living room, bedroom and workshop. The place I have chosen is in the north-eastern part of the village on a dry patch of land, along the road leading out of the village. I should have sufficient resources to pay for the materials and workforce involved in building it, in form of money, pelt, leather, fangs, claws, bones and meat.¡± The first thing you have to say in an audience such as this is something akin to what I said. It will show that you respect your Elders. You might think ¡®How can Lizardmen care about such manners?¡± The answer is that even if we are Beastmen, we still have our pride. As I sat down, and Hez¡¯Orae spoke up. Hez¡¯Orae: ¡°The land there is unoccupied and will from now be yours. We will contact the workforce that will build your house and have you pay for it when it¡¯s done. Now, onto the second and last matter. It¡¯s be about your role in this tribe and taxes. Due to you being both a mage and hunter, we can offer you to be either a tribe mage, hunter or both. Selecting tribe mage will lessen your taxes, give you many responsibilities and give you right for lessons to become an Elder once you become old enough. Hunter will give you standard taxes, but you will be allowed to live as you like. Both will slightly lessen your taxes, give you some responsibilities, allow you to hunt as you like, as long as you fulfil your responsibilities, and give you the right for lessons. What do you choose?¡± After thinking for a bit, I chose the one that gave me the most options, both. Me: ¡°Honoured tribe-leader and Elders, I will choose to become both. I will become a tribe mage, with the responsibilities, and become a hunter that supplies the tribe with food and riches.¡± Tribe-leader: ¡°Smart choice, young Li¡¯Kyes. Surely you will not disappoint and live up to your reputation.¡± To this praise, I bowed towards the tribe-leader, showing my appreciation. Hez¡¯Orae: ¡°Indeed a smart choice. Well, now to the taxes. The taxes for a hunter is 1 gold every month, while for a tribe mage it is 75 silver. Since you chose to do both, but only half of each, you will be taxed to pay the tribe 85 silver every month. Of course, this tax can be paid in both money and items. Now that the most important matters are settled, we will answer your questions, if you have any.¡± Me: ¡°I do have two questions, honoured tribe-leader and Elders, and that is about the responsibilities of a tribe mage, and how to wield mana and create magic.¡± To this I saw several nods of understanding. Hez¡¯Orae: ¡°To answer the first question, a tribe mage¡¯s responsibilities are to help the tribe in different matters, some matters are to heal wounded and others are to supply mana if anyone has any magic tool that uses mana crystals. However, most matters are to provide council to other Lizardmen in small matters in which they wouldn¡¯t seek council from an Elder. Since tribe mages are more educated and knowledgeable that other Lizardmen, it¡¯s their job to council and guide the others. Of course, in times of war or great dangers, they have the same responsibilities as any other Lizardmen, and are required to assist in any way they can.¡± I see, so I will more or less become a council apprentice. Hez¡¯Orae: ¡°The other question about mana is a bit harder to explain, and since you have affinities that no one else in this tribe has, I suggest that you go to the elven town and seek a teacher there. Anything else?¡± Me: ¡°No, that is all, honourable tribe-leader and Elders, thank you for your wise council and guidance.¡± As I was saying this, I bowed deeply, trying to convey my sincere gratitude. Tribe-leader: ¡°Then, you¡¯re dismissed, young Li¡¯Kyes. May grow strong and live long.¡± I stood up, bowing once again, and left the room. Heading home, I looked forward to getting my own home and go to the elven town to learn magic. My future was already looking bright. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Author Notes: Hope you enjoyed this chapter! :D As I said, it''s kinda short, so bear with it. I plan on writing the next chapter tomorrow, mostly as an apology for this one being slightly delayed and shorter c: (EDIT: Will still do it, since I feel slightly motivated! :D) Anyway, comment and all that stuff, if you want, and then I''ll see you guys next time! :D Chapter 13: Im Officially an Adult Now? Author Notes: Hey guys! :D Sorry for the long delay, kinda lost all motivation and started going on a reading spree, but will try to write some more from now on :D So, I hope you enjoy! Btw, the poll above is about if I should make a new side-story, namely chapter 13,5, or just a new chapter. YOU DECIDE! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Chapter 13: I¡¯m Officially an Adult Now? Almost a week has passed, and I¡¯m finally able to move into my own house. They finished it yesterday, with the price only being 1 gold and 20 silver. This would have been expensive for most new adults, but thanks to my hunting, I had a fortune of almost 4 gold. My house was, as I wanted it, build on a dry patch of land, small with only 3 rooms and out of good quality wood. Normally a house like this would only cost 80 silver, but I had to pay a bit more because of the more expensive materials. The last few days I had ordered some different furniture from different artisans in the village. A table, some chairs, a tea table, a couch and two armchairs without cushions, a bed frame and several different workbenches used for woodworking, leather tanning, tailoring, alchemy and even enchanting. This cost me nearly 1 gold, but some of that was paid by the Council since I needed alchemy and enchanting to perform my duties as a tribe mage. I had heard a bit more about what a tribe mage does, than what I was told by the Elders. Apparently, tribe mages have to learn alchemy and enchanting so that they could help with healing others and enchant their items. Of course, they have to pay for these services, but it¡¯s cheaper than if you did it in the elven town. Oh, and before I forget, I would like to talk about my new appearance. I hadn¡¯t noticed this before since I was busy with a lot of different things, but I had grown a bit and become more muscled. Not muscled as in a body builder but compact muscles. My scales still had the same colour, but I had grown a bit taller, making me as tall as a 15 year old. Moving all my things to my new house, I remembered more about what I had been doing the past week. Since I was going to be a tribe mage, I had been taught in many different things. Alchemy was one of them. One of the Elders taught me how to make potions, poison and salves, what they do and how to use them correctly. I was a fast learner, so I was mostly done with learning the basics of alchemy, the rest I would have to learn myself. Other than that, I was taught a bit about politics, since we would sometimes be tasked to act as a representative for the tribe. On top of that they gave me full access to the Council library that was located in the mansion. I was taught most of the things there, but had also spend some of my time reading the different books they had. An Elder also taught me how to control mana. I didn¡¯t have the affinity for mana, so I wasn¡¯t able to use spells with no affinity, per se, but I was capable of infusing mana into different things. Since I could do that, I was taught the basics of how to enchant. All in all, I was only a week away from becoming a full-fledged tribe mage. But I still wasn¡¯t capable of casting spells, for that I would need to find either a teacher or books that could explain my affinities, since there were no one else in my tribe with those affinities. Arriving at my new house, I was positively surprised. It was a small one-floor house on a dry patch of land, just as I wanted it. The quality of the house was clearly higher than the others nearby, but was still low compared to if it wasn¡¯t built in a swamp. Entering the first thing I saw was the living room. It had a table with 4 chairs, a tea table with 2 armchair frames and a couch frame. I had several pelts from different beasts that I planned to use as cushions for the armchairs and couch. Placing my bag next to the entrance, I took some of the pelts out and placed them on the couch and armchairs. After that, grabbing my bag I went into the bedroom on my right, took out some pelts and laid them on the bed, which was the only furniture in the room. I didn¡¯t have a dresser or something like that since I only had one pair of clothing/armour. The reason behind this was that I didn¡¯t require more, since even if my clothing/armour becomes dirty, I can just clean it. And even if I wore dirty, I wouldn¡¯t really notice. This is because of my scales making it harder to feel the clothing/armour you wear. Having finished with unpacking in the bedroom, I grabbed my bag and went into the workshop, which was on the opposite side of the room. The workshop was filled with different workbenches, just as I had ordered them. I placed my bag ones again and took my different tools out. There was everything from carving daggers to hammers. Placing every tool on the wall, I took my bag and placed it in the living room. Enjoying the story? Show your support by reading it on the official site. Now I had officially moved in. Grabbing my whip-sword, I went into the workshop and started maintaining it. I polished it, making it sharper and keeping the metal from rusting more than it already had. After that I started recharging the mana crystal as I studied the enchantment closer. As I was learning enchanting, I also spent time studying the whip-sword. From what I could see the enchanter was mediocre, nothing special, but still ahead of me. For keeping my findings in both enchanting and alchemy, I had bought several books with blank pages. I had also bought some of the more interesting books that the merchants that visited us sold. They ranged from alchemy to martial arts. The books I had bought couldn¡¯t be found in the Council library, and this I was sure on. The books in the library was mostly written by the members of this tribe, past and present, with only a few written by foreigners. While all the books I had bought were from foreigners. But it wasn¡¯t like I bought any book that I couldn¡¯t use, I only bought books that would give me knowledge that the Council library couldn¡¯t give me. For example in the alchemy books there was written things about plants that didn¡¯t grow in this swamp, while the ones from the Council library only had about plants in the near vicinity. After an hour of studying the enchantment I had nearly noted down every rune that were carved on the blade. The problem came from the runes that were carved inside the hilt. From my understanding, these runes were used to extend and retract the wire that connected the blade, while also ensuring that the blade would always be assembled correctly after use. Having finished up, I decided to train a bit before going to sleep. As always I practiced to combine both swordsmanship and whip-wielding, and I had nearly perfected it. Well, the basics at least. But just perfecting that would make the whip-sword a really dangerous weapon. After a couple of hours of training, I ate some meat and went to sleep. A week later¡ A week has passed, and I finally became a full-fledged tribe mage. From now on people were allowed to come to me if they sought anything they couldn¡¯t get themselves. More or less. I began making potions and salves this morning, since having a stock is necessary if someone comes in badly wounded. Of course, they would have to pay, but only after, I have saved their life. On top of that, I also expected a lot of customers since I was right next to the road and at the outskirts of the village. Finishing another potion, I stopped making them for today. For now, I would just have to let them stand for a week, allowing them to increase their effectiveness. And it was the same with the salves I had created. The thing is that when creating potions, poisons and salves, most would need a week or two before they become completely effective. They can be used right after creation, but if you let them age a bit, the effectiveness would increase at least twice. I had also created a poison or two, just to start my production of them and deepen my understanding. The easiest way to cure poison is if you have substantial knowledge about it. It also helped increase my general experience in alchemy, and give me more knowledge about the different herbs and such. After equipping my armour, whip-sword and bag, I went out of my house. Today I would travel to the elven city and look for ingredients, armour, weapons, books, and everything else that was necessary to increase my skills. I would need the ingredients for my alchemy, armour and weapons for my enchanting, and books for just about everything. On top of all that I also planned on looking for someone with knowledge in Shadow or Blood magic, if not both. I was extremely excited to learn some actual magic, which would strengthen my combat potential and give me more options when hunting. I had almost no knowledge in either, other than Shadow magic manipulated shadows and Blood magic used blood and flesh in it. I don¡¯t know if you sacrifice some blood or flesh, or if you manipulate it. For now I started following the road. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Author Notes: Thanks for reading! Sorry that it''s short, but I kinda had to cut it off here, hopefully I will make the next chapter longer, depends on the poll. :3 So leave them comments and stuff, and see ya later! Rework Announcement! Hey guys! First of all, SORRY! Sorry sorry sorry for the huge delay/hiatus. <.< Was busy with tons of other bullsheit and school, and had no motivation. So again, sorry! Well, with that out of the way, let''s get to the topic. I plan on doing a rework of the story, and I will change a few things. Things I plan is to make the world less "gamey", in other words, remove levels and status windows and such. Levels will be replaced with a ranking system, which is the same for both warriors and mages, a the lowest will be the mortal ranks 1-9, 1 being the lowest. There will be some different magical tools that can detect things like magical affinities and such, and the ranks can be determined by the energi level of the ki or mana a person releases. Unauthorized duplication: this tale has been taken without consent. Report sightings.I will also change a few of the story elements and make the world more "real". BUT! The story won''t change much, same events and sheit, so no worries. Hopefully the story will have more depth and a higher quality, but who knows. I will be continuing to post here and all the reworked chapters will have a ( R ) at the end of the title. When I have reworked the chapters posted so far, I will delete the old posts and remove the ( R ) stuff and such. So yeah, again sorry for the huge delay. Would love to hear your opinions on this, so post them below. Ps. Will start working on the new chapters from tomorrow onward. Prologue: A God wants Us to Reincarante as Heroes? (R) Author note: Hey guys, prologue rework''s here! :D Sorry for the delay (again), hopefully I can get my motivation back again. I know there will be some differences, but I already warned you of that. :3 Tried to develop the MC''s personality a bit more, and make it break the 4th wall more often, since it''s fun. :D Hope you enjoy! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Prologue: A God wants Us to Reincarnate as Heroes? It was supposed to have been a simple school trip to a neighboring country, but who would have thought that the trip would be our death? ¡ I woke up 7 in the morning, as usual, on a Friday, but unlike the usual Fridays, today was the day of our school trip. After showering and eating, I grabbed my bag and headed out. We were to meet at the station and take the bus to the airport. After a good 15 minutes of walking, I arrived and noticed that the majority of the class had already assembled. Like always, I kept my distance and stood just in eyesight, neither attracting attention nor avoiding it. After a while, the teacher arrived and we took the bus to the airport. An hour later, we were in the sky. But after only getting halfway there, we met our end. The engine on the right wing suddenly exploded, breaking the wing off and making the plane crash into the ground. ¡ Those were the last memories I had before arriving here. Here, you ask? Well, here is nothing but white. No ceiling, no walls, hell, if I wasn¡¯t sitting and feeling the floor right now, I might have believed that there was no floor. Other than me, my entire class and teacher were here as well. Half in panic (mostly the girls), the other half confused. Well, except Chad and I. As usual, almost no situation could faze me; guess I really am as indifferent as people say. And Chad? That tall, muscular, blond haired prick? Well, he¡¯s trying to calm his ¡°harem¡± down; the usual. Anyway, this scenario is awfully familiar to me, don¡¯t tell me some god is going to come and tell us to become heroes or some shit. ???: ¡°Calm down, all of you.¡± Oh, here it comes¡ After everyone had calmed down a bit, a bright light appeared. Slowly the light receded until it was bearable to look at and revealed a big ball of light. Light ball: ¡°Welcome to the afterlife, or to be more precise, a small space I made to stop you from entering the circle of reincarnation. You all died, but don¡¯t worry, you all get to live again with your memories intact.¡± So¡ it really is this kind of scenario¡ Light ball: ¡°Let me introduce myself. I¡¯m Dreqz, the God of Law and Order. The reason I have gathered your souls here is because I wish to let your reincarnate into the world Grendania, a fantasy world; in your words. You will all get reincarnated with blessings and become future heroes. When you turn 20, you will have to report to the United Human Kingdoms¡¯ Council; which will be created in 19 years, if not, you will lose your blessings. Why do I extend this offer to you? Well, in 20 years from now, and thing known as the End will happen. In short, it will kill everyone and consume all of Grendania, if not stopped. And who will stop it from happening? You guys will, of crouse. Any questions?¡± Unauthorized usage: this tale is on Amazon without the author''s consent. Report any sightings. It really was¡ Well, it sounds fun, so why not. But still, I have to ask¡ Me: ¡°I have one¡ Why us of all people?¡± Dreqz: ¡°It¡¯s simple, really. I peeked at the result of many time lines, and yours was the ones with the highest success rates. Of course, there¡¯s also a risk of you failing, but the higher the chance, the better. Other questions?¡± No one said anything, most likely soaking up the information and trying to come to terms with the situation. Dreqz: ¡°I¡¯ll take that as a no. If that¡¯s the case, then let¡¯s start now. Please step forth one at a time, I will open a door to your new body, so please walk through it without too much fuss.¡± The first one to stand up was Chad, surprise. Clearly wanting to show off to his ¡°harem¡±. Chad: ¡°I¡¯ll go first then. Let¡¯s meet again on the other side, everyone.¡± Urgh, he said that with paper white smile; I could almost see the light glint from commercials. In front of him a white door suddenly appeared, there were nothing special about it, just a blank white board with a doorknob. After opening it, he walked through and disappeared together with the door. After him, a tall, red-haired beauty stood up and walked through her door. As usual, the cool beauty. One after another, my classmates and teacher walked through their respective doors, never to be seen again; at least for the next 20 years, I hope. Finally, I was alone, only the ball of light remained¡ Excuse me, not ball of light, but Dreqz, the God of Law and Order. Standing up, I walked a few steps forward. Suddenly a door appeared before me; but unlike the others doors, this one was black. Dreqz: ¡°Hoooh, now that¡¯s interesting, a black door. This door usually means that you will have a life with many challenges, both physically and mentally, and will have your morals largely changed. Is it good or bad, only time will tell. But one things for certain, it will be bloody and dark.¡± Sounds bothersome, but also interesting, I guess. And bloody and dark, what is this? A deathflag? Dreqz: ¡°Well, it¡¯s up to you. Want to take this path, or enter the circle of reincarnation?¡± My response was grabbing the doorknob and opening the door. Dreqz: ¡°Good choice. You caught my interest, why not tell me your name, before it¡¯s changed?¡± Me: ¡°Names Blake.¡± I said as I entered the door. Next thing I knew, I woke up in a small dark place¡ ... ..... ....... WHAT IS THIS?! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Author note: Hope you enjoyed this prologue, no big changes really, same events and stuff. I''m still trying to come up with the new power system, but I have some ideas, so yeah, we''ll see when they''re done. c: So as always, please leave your thoughts and stuff in the comments, I''ll read them all as always. I might not reply tho, but always reading them. :D Later!
