《Yawnder》 Chapter 1- I am because I am In the endless darkness, I awoke to consciousness and sentience. I can feel myself, my body, yet unable to move to my liking. I feel something within my mind at this inability to move. .....Ah yes; it''s annoyance. Strange how I know that yet I just came to being. Well, just thinking about this is strange in general I guess. It seems I have...what¡¯s the word...memories. Yeah, that''s about right I think. Well, at least the common sense memories anyway. I guess this would be retrograde amnesia? No, that can''t be right. Otherwise I''d be.......well, something else I guess. Seems that I am somewhere as something in a certain situation. None of which I know anything about. Panic, is that word? No, not yet anyway. Right I remember now; I''m worried. This dark place is stifling and small. I don''t like it very much, and I want to get out of here. Let''s see, maybe I can escape? First thing is first, though. What do I have to work with? I try moving what seems to be connected to me. I seem to have 4 limbs I think, the top two feel unfamiliar to my memories. They feel too weak to escape. My legs feel good, but seem to be stuck in front of me. Head, body, limbs; Seems like I''m a creature of some sort. Hmm, something seems to be on my head. It''s a beak I think. Does that mean I''m a bird thing of some sort? Explains why my arms feel so funny anyway. That must mean I''m in an egg of some sort. Birds, eggs, escape; maybe if I use my beak? I thrust my face forward, and feel the other side of my prison with my beak. Nothing happened though, most disappointing. Let''s try again then. "Hmph." Oh, looks like I can make sounds now. I hear something outside my prison, more noises and crying. It must be breakout time for everyone then; time to join them. "Snick, snack." Oh, I think I see a small light now. Better go slow then, even that little pinprick is a little blinding. Little more than, ah yes the light is increasing. "Squeak." ....I sound so defenseless and weak. Can''t wait till puberty....huh I don''t remember this word well for some reason. Anyway, back to escape. "Crack." Oh, the light spread out. That''s really pretty, like cracks of light in the endless void.
You have gained the "Art" Stat.
.....What the heck is this thing? Some sort of screen popped up in front of my face. Seems strangely familiar for some reason. Oh, seems like a mini memory rush there. Stats are numerical ratings of aspects of an organism. Commonly found in games and stories. Does this mean I''m in a game or story? Am I a... NPC or reincarnated person? Well, whatever I am I sure feel alive. Most important thing anyway right now. Art stat from birth; must be because I have the capacity to appreciate it from my memories. Why would a bird need such a thing anyway? What''s that? The cries sound a little panicked out there; almost like there''s trouble. Must be a predator then; which means I need to hurry up and find somewhere safe. One more time and....success! ''Fear me for I am Eggslayer! Well, my first thought in the real world and I''m already feeling like I took that from someone. Oh well, copying is the highest form of flattery.'' I look around my surroundings. It seems like I am in a nest made of straw. I''m the only hatched egg in a group of 6. We seem to be on an elevated rock shelf overlooking a...beach? Never seen green water before....oh right I was just born. Anyway, it seems like there are a lot of nests scattered around; mine is just the highest. I don''t see any parents, and I don''t really have the time to give myself a once over. Those cries I heard earlier, they were all around me now. Chicks were scattering to the wind as what looked like, err, a smorgasbord of creatures were eating them. I see reptiles, mammals, and even other bird types swiping and stuffing their mouths with as many chicks as possible. If you come across this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it. Looks like I''m safe at this high elevation for now. ''Or not.'' I think as I watch a rather large bird fly to a neighboring nest and carry the entire thing off. That''s one big bird, a condor like thing. ''Wait, that means I''m in danger!'' I look back to my siblings. None of them seem to be close to hatching. As much as my instincts are screaming at me to escape, my memories seem to be telling me to save them. Some kind of...maternal instinct. ''Even if I''m not a girl.'' I muse to myself, ''Anyway, I guess I should try to save them.'' This left me in awkward situation though. I was on an elevated stone plateau, maybe 10 feet off the ground. I was the highest, and all the other nest were empty or gone at this point; their former occupants being eaten or fleeing. ''Need to hide them somewhere safe. Also, I need to hide too.'' It was a rocky place, maybe there was a cave nearby. Thankfully my legs seemed to be working fine, and they felt strong. I ran around the platform and found...nothing useful. ''Not that it should be so easy.'' If I went down, the ground predators would get me. If I went up, the bird cannibals would get me. Also, I was just born with basically no limbs capable of moving this sizable nest. Maybe making plans right after birth wasn''t the best plan. Giving up on this area, I inspected the closest rock cropping that didn''t have nests. Not that one, not that one, oh hey success! I spied a small cave on a close rock. It looked big enough for the eggs and me to fit, but not anything else. ''Great! Now to actually do things.'' Huh, my personality already seems to altering to my new experiences. Now how to I actually do that? As I turned back to my nest, a mouse like creature was chomping on one of my brethren! "Squawk squawk!" ''Get away from my siblings you furry menace!'' I ran over and began kicking the mouse with my legs. In hind sight, maybe attacking a predator was a bad idea. On a lucky note, the mouse was the same size as I was, so my kicks did actually work against it; enough to annoy it anyway. With an angry squeak, it turned and pounced toward me with anger in its eyes. ¡°Squeak squeak!¡± ¡®Just die and become my food!¡¯ I guess I can understand animals then. Also, this thing is a lot more evil than its appearance would suggest. What kind of animal demands prey to roll over and die? ¡°I refuse!¡± I yelled back defiantly, swinging my leg up to meet his chin. Being in the air, the mouse felt the full force of my leg and went flying over the edge of the rock, squeaking petty vengeance as it fell to its death.

¡®Once again, more of this blue screen thing.¡¯ I thought to myself. As it turned out, two of my siblings had been eaten by the mouse; quick little bastard left nothing behind. With only 5 eggs left, I used my head to push the nest toward the edge of the rock in the direction of the cave. There wasn¡¯t any way to carry the eggs down safely, and I had nothing to use for hands. With a silent prayer, I pushed the entire nest off to the lower rock face. I closed my eyes until I heard it land, than peaked over the side. Success! 3 of the eggs made it with the nest, and two got smashed. ¡®I¡¯ll never forget you eggs 4 and 5.¡¯ I inwardly sobbed. I was egg one, and the 4 lost eggs were 2-5 respectively. At least I saved 3 of my siblings. I hopped down after them, landing on my strong feet. Actually, they weren¡¯t that strong; the landing really hurt. My beak seemed to shift into the avian equivalent of a grimace I rolled the remaining eggs into the cave and followed them in. I pulled the nest over the opening and hankered down. I fell asleep as the cries of my species echoed outside. Chapter 2 After all that running around and jumping, I ended up falling asleep in the cave with my egg siblings. I awoke to the light of a new morning shining in through the crack of the nest I had used to block the entrance to the cave. Yawning, I stretched my wings out as far as their stubby selves could go, and brought them down to find I had three new fuzzy balls stuck to me. I cocked my head and inspected the three of them. Obviously, they were my siblings who had hatched and fell asleep beside me. Apparently birth is a hardy ordeal for everyone. Not sure how, but instinctively knew all 3 were my sisters. They all looked like me, except for the color under their wings. Red, brown, and black; that was how they looked under the wings. Guess that''ll be their names for now. ....Oh yeah; I need a name too. I lack a color besides yellow, and I''m sure as hell not calling myself "Yellow". Then again naming oneself sounds kinda dumb, so I guess I''ll wait till someone does it for me. Speaking of which, what was that strange blue screen from yesterday? If I recall correctly, I got an art stat and kicking proficiency. My memories may be more faded now, but I''m positive that didn''t happen in my former life. In fact, if I recall correctly. . . "Profile." I mutter quietly.

Wisdom Acquired
....Okay then. Ignoring the weirdest profile I have ever seen, technically the only one anyway, this means I''m in a different world then the one I used to be in. Also, apparently my race is "Chick". What the heck! I mean, a chick is merely the baby form of a bird right? So why am I being considered as a race in itself? "What the heck is my race." I muttered to myself.
Race: the manner of species an individual belongs to.
Chick: Biological organism representing the beginning of all avian races and some others.
This blue screen popped in front of me immediately after my question. Oddly enough, it seemed to be answering my question in a manner befitting of a dictionary. Seeing a few possibilities here, so lets see if any apply here. ''Can you respond to questions I ask in my head?'' I think toward the box.
Yes. Queries may be directed mentally so long as the individual possesses the necessary traits.
''In other words, as long as one is intelligent and wise one can communicate with....you?''
Incorrect. Only monsters of sufficient intelligence and wisdom can communicate with the god system. Sentient beings from birth can only receive notifications, but have greater access to the profile system. Second answer: you may refer to me as a person, though gender-less and emotionless as I am.
The author''s tale has been misappropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon. ''I was born sentient, so doesn''t that counter what you just said? Also, why emotionless?''
Answer: status as monster overrides sentience. Answer: I have just been born as well, so I have nothing to define me
''Same boat huh? Well, this should be an interesting adventure to say the least then. I''ll call you "Blue" for now, nice to meet you."
Designation set as: Blue. Affirmative.
''Great. One last question for you: why am I a chick?"
All monster races begin as a beginner race. As long as certain criteria are met, a monster can evolve into a different one. This gives monsters the greatest diversity and adaptable ability in the world. On the other side, sentient races can develop their strength through levels, jobs, and stats which have the potential to overcome monsters. Both share skill and abilities, but monsters are always around a certain level strength once they evolve. To gain more strength, a monster must evolve into something stronger.
So it''s a dog eat dog world. Makes sense completely; monsters diversify to populate the world as the ecosystem, while the sentient races magnify in order to overcome their obstacles. As a chick, I guess flying is a eventual given then as long as I do things to make my wings useful. Kinda makes me excited, I can feel the rush of heat through my body. Oh wait, that''s just me bleeding out slowly......wait what the hell is going on here. I stand up quickly and find I have a few small wounds on my body. Let''s see... yup I was correct; looks like my sisters have little spikes in their backs. I''m pretty sure that''s a gender thing, which means the females seem more combat oriented than the males. When I got up, I dislodged my sleeping siblings, who awoke with a start. They seemed pretty confused at first, but grew very still when their eyes locked on me. They bunched themselves together into a interesting ball of yellow feathers and stared at me. "Papa?" Black asked me hesitantly. I shook my head, "Big brother." They cocked their heads at me as one unit. "Onichan?" said Black. "Hermano?" said Brown. "Frere?" said Red. ....How do you get this wrong in 3 different languages? Annoyingly enough I realize they are merely squeaking and it''s my brain that''s translating their squeaks into words, but still how did all three of them manage a different language? "Big brother." I said firmly as I gestured to myself. This time, the three of them gave me the avian equivalent of a smile and tackled me joyfully, crying out "Big Brother!". I ignored the spike pain and let them rub their heads into my feathers. Okay, I admit I was a little overcome by their cuteness. Sue me, I saved them and this is my reward. (The heck is sue?) After letting them get off me, and showing them the spikes on their bodies and how they hurt me, I felt the rumbles in my stomach. I was rather hungry now that I was rested, and it seemed my sisters were as well. I walked over to the nest and pushed it out of the way with my head. The sunlight shone down on us as we walked onto the stone plateau outside our cave. The beech was beautiful and sparkling, with no sign of the earlier massacre and feeding frenzy. Boy, those scavengers really do clean up well. That being said, I had no idea if any predators were lurking in the area still. "How pretty." Red breathed out as she took in the sight. I had to agree with her, the beech was very beautiful now that it was clear of battle and gore. The sand was white and yellow in the morning sun as the deep blue ocean rained waves down upon it. The beech itself stretched a while until it hit a forest, which looked very green from our perspective. "There must be food in the jungle." I mused to myself. The flurry of foot was the only warning I had to look behind me. My siblings were already running down the small stone path from out home to the forest as fast as their little legs could carry them. They must have been very hungry in hindsight. I cursed my lack of foresight as I chased after them. I didn''t save them just to have them die the first day of their existence! Chapter 3 Those sisters of mine sure are fast. By the time I reached the forest edge, I had lost track of their yellow feathers. Ignoring the slight pride of their physical abilities, I truly am worried. I''m pretty sure a single day isn''t enough for all those predators to leave the area, which means they could be walking into danger. I run into the woods, trying to remember all the different dangers I had seen yesterday. ''First thing would be the mouse I guess.'' I thought to myself, skirting around a tree, ''Though it was only the same size as me, so the three of them should be fine if they encounter one. Those bigger birds I saw in the sky won''t fit in the forest well, so I don''t have to look up every once and awhile. Err, ah crap I don''t remember anything else.'' It was a tense situation after all, and my mind hadn''t focused on the far away threats at the time. ''Okay memories, tell me what I''m likely to find in a beech frenzy..." I focused, ". . .Crabs are out; so are anything nocturnal. Lizards maybe, or perhaps a bigger rodent? Too may things to remember at once." Lost in my thoughts, my foot caught a branch and sent me flying into a tree. I can''t rub my head with my stumpy wings, so I turn to give an annoyed stare at the offending branch. Wait.......wait....... Ah frack it''s a snake. The former branch was giving me an annoyed stare as well, though it seemed a little more borderline hungry than angry. "ssss, Well what do we have here? A little ssssnack for me so early?" It hissed as it lazily got up. Fuck this shit I''m out. Unlike what a normal chick would have done, I already knew better than to look into that thing''s eyes. I''m flying into the forest before it eve realizes I''ve escaped. The hiss of anger behind makes me chuckle. The whole ''Medusa'' effect thing was forefront in my memories, so no way in hell I''m looking into a snake''s eyes without protection. Still, that was a close encounter there. I need to pay more attention to my surroundings than to my thoughts. Speaking of, how am I suppose to find my siblings if I can''t track? I awkwardly pause at this realization. ''Hm, well the''re hungry, so the''re heading to food." Great, now how do I find food? Memories are worthless in this situation, so come one animal instinct! Anything? Instincts? . . .Methinks I don''t have any. "Hey Blue, where are my animal instincts?"
Intelligence and wisdom replaced your natural instincts for the most part. Living in the wold for a few years should return them to you
"Okay then. Any advice on how to find food? How about a location clue, or a direction?"
I know as much as you do about this world, so I have no use as a reference. What are you looking for for food?
Right, forgot he''s a newborn too. Well, that last question was insightful. What do chick''s eat? Bugs, or maybe fruits I think. Actually, I bet what I choose to eat will be one of those evolutionary affecting factors. Which means. . . "Blue, what is the food preference of the typical first evolution of a chick?"
Grubs. Interesting, how did you know to ask me this?
"Something you mentioned before about monster and sentient differences. From what you''ve said so far, you have the innate knowledge of evolution forms, though you can''t tell me how to reach them or what they are until I satisfy certain criteria. I got lucky you could tell me about food preference though." [tr] [tr]

". . .Now that''s just peachy. Let''s see if I can use this to my advantage." Looking around, I found that I could see little details that weren''t apparent before: tiny breaks in the leaves, my footsteps, the little noises around me, Not tracking of course, but I could take my environment in better than before. Detective chick is on duty; okay another weird memory thing there. Anyway, I knew grubs would found best in a place with dead trees. Dead trees would be holes in the forest canopy, so my best bet would be to climb a tree and look around. Of course, that was easier said than done. Considering my short wings with no claws, I need to somehow climb a rather large tree with only my feet. The lack of low branches made jumping an impossibility, so I was left with two plans. ''One, two, three!'' I thought as I ran at the tree. At top speed, I tried to jump and run up the tree. My old nemesis physics denied me of that possibility, so I was left watching stars run around my head after body slamming a tree. Needless to say, that was a dumb idea. Also a painful one. Next, I tried just walking up the tree. I made it two steps before my leg strength failed and I fell down. Thankfully, that didn''t hurt me this time. While cursing my weakness, my ears picked up on distant cries. My sisters were in trouble! I zero''d in on the direction and ran as fast as my feet would carry me. I dashed past trees, jumped over sticks, and ran through a few bushes. I was panicking inside, and my fatigue disappeared in the rush. A few more trees later, and I sped into a clearing with a large dead tree in the middle. Sure enough, a weasel like thing was swiping at the dead tree, where the cries were coming from. "Big brother, help us!" I heard one of them cry out from within. The weasel thing nodded as it swiped and dug. Support the creativity of authors by visiting Royal Road for this novel and more. "I hope your big brother comes too. You chicks are much too small to fill my belly by yourself." At least this predator wasn''t fricking evil like that mouse, it was just hungry. Of course, I was still going to kick it''s ass. I hadn''t slowed down upon entering the clearing, and I decided now was a perfect time to try my first tree climb maneuver on the weasel. In other words, I dropped kicked the damn thing. Unlike the mouse, which was about my size, the weasel was maybe 3-4 me''s; and it was not paying attention to anything around it. So a creature running at top speed at 1/5 it''s size drop kicks it straight in the middle of it''s body. It bent over in a perfect ''U'' shape around me as we both went flying, and I saw my sisters as I sailed by the hole. . . .Where did the 10/10 signs come from? Not that I mind the score, but seriously? Wait, never mind I''m hallucinating from the battle rush. How do I know this?

Yup, I am now a battle day dreamer. Not really, as only the little things are affected and nothing about my opponent changes; just the background. Back to me; the weasel and I went tumbling into the dirt. I recovered first and got up to my feet. The weasel eyed me as it slowly got up, it''s face grimacing in pain as it did so. "So you''re the big brother huh? Have to admit, you really got me with that blow." He gave me a rueful grin, "As much fun as fighting you would be, I really am hungry, so could you please roll over and die for me?" What is with this world and animals asking their opponents to die easily? "Um, no. I like life, especially my life and that of my sisters. Why are you so hungry anyway; didn''t you eat enough of my brethren yesterday?" The weasel gave an awkward cough, "Yeah, I overslept and missed out on all the fun." Awkward silence ensues, "Seriously?" "Seriously." I cock my head at him, "Well, sucks to be you I suppose. You can''t eat us without a fight." He shrugged, "Oh well, I tried." With that, I found myself flying backwards into the dead tree. Striking faster than I could see, his tail knocked all my air out as I slammed full force into the dying deciduous. Shoot, I think that''s blood coming from my mouth. The weasel is walking over lazily toward me. His whole demeanor screams cocky, and it really irks me I can''t get up and beat the smug look off his face. ''Well, nice to meet you big brother. Bon appa. . . Ow!" Just as the thing stretched it''s jaws around me, he shot back and cried out in pain. The sight before me honestly surprises me; my little sisters are wrapped around his neck and body, digging their little spikes into him and holding on for dear life. The weasel thing is twisting and turning to try to get them off, but they are refusing to let go. "Leave him alone stupid fluffy!" cried out Red, her little body trembling in fight. "Big brother took care of us, so we''ll take care of him!" I think that was Black that time. "Ow, geez, crap, ow! Let go you stupid fuzzballs!" The weasel managed to grab a hold of one, and threw her into the dead tree behind me. I heard a thud, but couldn''t see her. My sister! The battle rush feeling robbed me of my pain as I stood up awkwardly. I trembled as I gather my strength into my legs. The weasel had dislodged another sister and she landed to my right, rolling to her side and not moving. He was working on my last sister when I got my legs to move again. He held her in his claw as he hissed at her, watching her struggle in his grasp. A peek of wing revealed her to my Brown, and she gave her captor a defiant look as she trembled in fear. "Any last words you little annoyance?" He asked her. I didn''t hear what she said, but saw as his mouth descended on her. Of course, that was the only chance I had. As his mouth came down on her, pinned to the ground by his hand, I shot my body straight up into his mouth and into his throat. His body size was 3-4 me''s, but I was counting on my size to choke him, or at least allow me to hook into his throat and claw him to death. As it turns out, he wasn''t prepared for this suicide attack. I lodged my self firmly in his throat, my feet sticking out and my head inside. It was as gross as one would have expected. Even worse, he starting choking, and I got a full whiff of weasel breath as he tried to dislodge me. His legs were too short to reach inside and pull me out, so his only hope was coughing. Nasty ass breath needs a breath mint. Oh wait, he won''t need it soon. I used my legs to brace myself by grabbing onto the sides of his mouth, and eventually his chokes began to decrease in strength. Slower, and slower, until finally I couldn''t feel him breathing anymore. I waited until the notification pooped up.

Great, I killed a. . .Sand Wease? Naming system seems to suck still. Anyway, it appears I''m stuck. Hope my sisters get me out before I suffocate too. Chapter 4 ''My head hurts. Why does it hurt again?'' I rubbed my head a little as I got up. I know I''m not very smart, but I try to at least remember what has happened before. Let''s see, my name is. . .Red. That''s what the funny box thing I can''t eat said when after brother woke up. It said some other stuff, but I didn''t understand anything else. I think my. . intel. . .inlel. . .smartness isn''t high enough to understand yet. I think I understood that at least. Oh right! I have two sisters like me, Black and Brown. It''s really cool having sisters like them, because we can talk together in our heads! I don''t why though, because we can''t talk to brother that way. I can''t hear them right now though. Oh, I have a brother too. I really love my brother! It''s really strange, but I know he saved me and sisters from being eaten. The blue box told me that I think. It said I earned something too; I think it was "Brother''s Protection". It explained, but I didn''t understand well, so the box thingy switched to easier words for me. It said that as long as brother was nearby, sisters and I were tougher to hurt. I''m really thankful to brother, because he protects us all the time! ''Sisters, are you awake?'' I heard Brown talking in my head. ''I''m okay!'' I announce happily. ''MetooIamSoHappyYouGuysAreOkay!'' Black talks too fast in the head, and it hurts sometimes to understand her. ''Too fast Black.'' I complain, ''It hurts.'' ''Indeed, if you could reduce the speed of your communication.'' Brown commented. ''Brown, you too smart.'' I complained ''. . .My bad. Are you two alright?'' ''My head hurts.'' ''IFlewReallyFarBackButI''mAlrightToo.'' I heard Brown sighing, ''I''m really happy you two alright. I was. . scared you two were hurt.'' Brown always makes me want to cuddle her when she talks, and I''m not sure why. Oh, I was trying to remember things, let''s see. We hatched, got the message thingy, and then cuddled up to big brother because he was warm. We didn''t know him as big brother then, but we knew he was safe to cuddle. We woke up when he moved suddenly. He acted funny though, he seemed to be staring in the air for awhile. I think he has a box thingy too, and was sad he couldn''t eat it. He talked to us though after a while, and established his identity. All three of us read the blue box, so we knew he had saved us then. We all hugged him to show our thanks. He froze, but his beak got redder so I think he liked it. He moved a thingy out of the way and led us outside. It was really pretty out there. I liked the blue thing and the yellow thing, and how the blue thing kept moving and changing colors. The blue box said I got some thingy called ''Art'', but I don''t understand it. Brother said something about food, and I got really hungry. I looked at the green section and knew there was food there. I ran toward it happily, and my sisters chased me. I think they told me to stop, but I was too hungry to care. I liked running through the green thing. Things flew by me and I felt the wind on my face. I kinda know some names of things, like those tall green things were trees, but I didn''t know a lot. Brown knew a lot, but I think brother knows a lot more than her and she''s the slowest one. Black ran okay, but she kept jumping off of things. I think she likes to do that more than running. We found a fallen tree with lots of food! My beak watered as I ran to it. Sisters joined me and we searched for food, though I think Brown was scolding me for leaving brother behind. I felt a little bad leaving him now that had time to think, but I was so hungry. We were in the middle of eating when a weird feeling ran through all of us. I didn''t like that feeling, but it was persistent. We looked around and this big scary thing came out of the woods. It growled and drooled at us, and I knew we were it''s food. We got really scared and hid in the big tree, but it chased us and started attacking the tree to get to us. I think it was saying some things, but I didn''t understand it. Even Brown had a hard time understanding it, but she said he was hungry. I already knew that, but hearing it made me more scared. We cried out for Big Brother, and were really scared. Then, the big scary thing went flying. We peeked out and saw Big Brother was fighting it. They seemed to talk for a moment, then the big thing hit him really hard. I got another feeling, but it was different. Brown called it anger, and all three of us were feeling it. The ugly son of a . . . somehow something flipped in my head when I saw brother hurt protecting us. We charged the big thing and jumped on it and hugged it. Brother had showed us the spikes, and we hugged as hard as we could with them. The monster got really mad and started thrashing around. I was still scared, but I was also still angry so I held on. The monster got hold of Brown and Black and threw them away. Then it grabbed me and held me on the ground. I was really scared then, and I couldn''t move as it''s face came down to eat me. Then, Big Brother came out of nowhere and jumped into it''s mouth. Unauthorized tale usage: if you spot this story on Amazon, report the violation. ... ... ... BIG BROTHER JUMPED INTO THE MONSTER''S MOUTH! We all screamed and ran toward the body of the monster. Big Brother was in a lot of trouble! I was really scared when I got to the monster for Big Brother. I tried to move the mouth, but I was too weak. Black and Brown appeared right after though, and we worked together to open it my using out bodies. The teeth cut us, but we endured to save Big Brother. ''I see his feet!" I cried out, looking into the mouth. They were wiggling, so he was still alive. I was really happy Big Brother wasn''t dead. I didn''t know how to get him out though. ''Grab him with your mouth and pull!'' Brown ordered me. I did so, and sisters bit my wings and we all pulled. My wings really hurt, but I ignored it and pulled. Big brother popped out soon after and we all rolled in the dirt. When we recovered, my ears made liquid and re rushed Big Brother in another big hug. "Big Brother, we were scared!" We cried out as the water moved down our beaks. I''m really happy Big Brother is alright, and I''m really happy he came to save us. He winced, but we made sure to point the spiky parts away from him. When he realized this, he hugged us back. "I''m glad you are all alright." -------------------- I was starting to panic as I felt the air decrease in quality, but luckily my sisters saved me by pulling me out of the wease''s mouth. They began crying and hugged me without spikes, so I hugged them back. I was really happy they were okay. I noticed that Red was bleeding on her wings, and I knew she had used her body to save me. "Red, your wings are bleeding." I said. She sniffed and looked at them, then began crying some more. "It hurts big brother, it hurts." I inspected them with my beak. Black and Brown had accidentally broken her wings in the process of freeing me, and I felt a little guilty for that. "Hold on, I need to treat this." I looked around for anything to use. I remembered some medicine, but not much beyond field treatment and I lacked the proper appendages to work with. I spied some large leaves and sticks for splints, but I still needed something for the wound. ''Blue, is there anyway to get some medicine for her wound?'' I asked.
Because you defeated that monster, I can tell you about it
MonsterSand Wease

''So I can learn about things after I kill them?''
You can also learn after reading or being taught. However, you lack the knowledge to read and most teachers would kill you
Well that''s good to know at least. I collected the leaves and sticks and rubbed the saliva on them. I returned to Red who was sniffling with Brown and Black comforting her and apologizing. I wrapped her wings in a leaf first, than a stick, and than a bigger leaf. In case you are wondering how I managed this, I used Brown and Black''s beak to help me tie the leaf off. I was relieved that Red''s bones hadn''t moved out of position; they had just cracked. When we were done, Red moved her wings cautiously and found they didn''t hurt as much anymore. She thanked me with another hug. "Now that that''s done, let''s talk about what you girls did wrong." I said as I took a scolding posture. The girls huddled on the ground and bowed their heads. At least they recognized they did wrong. "Don''t ever run off and leave like that again, it''s really dangerous right now for us." I scolded, "We almost all died from monster, and it was one of the weakest in the area. I know you girls are hungry, but you can''t let run your life. Also, while I appreciate you girls helping me fight, don''t do that again." Black stuck her head up at that and glared at me. "Help. . .Brother. . .fight." I shook my head, "No, it''s too dangerous. . ." Black stared me down and got up, "You. . .same as. . .us. We. . .all in. . .this. . .together." Her voice was soft and slow, but I felt the weight of her argument against me. She was right, we were all the same. I had my memories, but physically I was the same as the three of them. I would have died if they hadn''t helped. I sighed, "Okay, you''re right. However, I don''t want you girls looking for trouble understand?" They nodded and Black sat back down satisfied. They looked at each other for a moment and nodded, using the strange technique girls have to talk without words. They nodded and smiled at me (still strange to see a beak fold like that) "Okay Big Brother!" "Good, now let''s eat."
