《The Power to Destroy》 Prologue: The Ones who Live Above Iris, one of the daughters of the Great Creator woke with a start. She had a terrible premonition of what may be coming. Suddenly, her door was opened. "Cousin Lucambris!" She exclaimed while she watched as her friend, the God of light, son of the Grand Healer, come into the room. "What is happening?" She inquired. His hands were trembling and his face pale, he had no idea how to tell Iris what had happened. "Aurelia..." He started. "What? Has something happened to Aurelia?" She pressed on for information. "She.... She was killed." He said. Iris was stunned by the news. "Is... Is this true?" She asked. "Yes... She has been murdered by an unknown enemy." "Who?! Who killed her?!" Iris screamed. She wanted to avenge her best friend''s, who was also her priestess, death. "Quiet down! You know as well as I do that us gods are not omniscient. We have no idea who has killed her, but we will definitely find the murderer soon. We can''t have someone going around killing our priests." He said while shaking his head. "Maybe... Maybe we can ask Uncle Malivus to help us. He is the most powerful God after all, he probably knows something about Aurelia''s death." Unauthorized content usage: if you discover this narrative on Amazon, report the violation."If you say so, Uncle Malivus doesn''t meddle much with our affairs. But since it''s you, he might just agree." Iris was the favorite relative of Malivus, the God of Destruction. 10 minutes later " Uncle! Uncle!" Iris shouted while knocking on the door of a shabby cottage in the middle of a dense forest. "Jeez, can''t you let your Uncle sleep? What''s wrong?" Malivus said as he noticed Iris''s face. "Someone has killed Aurelia, can you help us find the culprit?" "Aurelia?" Malivus''s face darkened. Aurelia was a nice and kind girl, who would want to kill her? " Alight, give me a few minutes to pack my stuff." Suddenly, an explosion was heard. "What was that?" Iris was confused what could be happening in the God''s realm. It was illegal to fight here, gods had to go into the mortal world if they wanted to duel. "I''ll go check it out." Malivus instantly teleported to where the explosion had been. He saw a huge magic circle and mumbled, "what could this be?" He touched the magic circle and then everything went black. Chapter 1- The Birth of a God Sorry for the short chapters. I''ll try to make them longer in the future, I''m still a bit new to this (this is my first fiction). But I think it''s better for shorter chapters but quicker releases :p. Criticism is always welcome, if you spot any mistakes or anything you want to change/correct or any suggestions at all, please post away in the comments section. I''ll try to adhere to your comments in the next chapters. Anyway, thanks for reading! Enjoy! ----- Chapter 1 When Malivus awoke, all he saw was light. Then, a voice said; ¡°Relisa, you still have to be careful. The other child in your womb is still not ready to be born. She will probably be ready to be born in a year.¡± Relisa clutched baby Malivus to her chest. ¡°Thank you, doctor. Of course I will follow a bronze ranked Gifted magician warrior¡¯s advice. I am honored that you care about me,¡± replied a young female voice. ¡°Haha, of course I care about you. You are my good friend¡¯s daughter-in-law and you are giving birth to his grandson. Congratulations, Relisa, you are now a mother.¡± With that said, the doctor left the room. By then, Malivus had realized that he had been born to this woman named Relisa in the world below the heavens, the world they had created. Malivus attempted to recall what he knew about this world. He was not very meddlesome like the other gods in the heavens but he lent a hand in creating it. He remembered that magicians in this world increase their mana pool along with their martial prowess by refining certain medicines and meditating. The gods got stronger in the same way, Malivus had been doing this for billions of years, which was why he was much stronger than the other gods. While inside this baby body, he could still feel all his power swirling around within him. He was glad that none of it had been lost in his rebirth into the human world. He also remembered that humans divided magician warriors into ranks, every rank consisted of the bronze, silver, and gold subranks. Gold was more powerful than silver, silver more than bronze, and bronze more than gold of the previous rank. Malivus recalled that humans seemed to divide the classes into these sections: Human: The average person was a bronze within this rank. Regular soldiers were often silver ranked while captains of small squads were gold ranked. Gifted: Much stronger than a human-ranked person. Commanders of two or three squads were bronze ranked, commanders of ten squads were silver ranked. Commanders of a legion were gold ranked in this category. Did you know this text is from a different site? Read the official version to support the creator. Saint: Saints could change the entire tide of wars, wiping out entire legions or armies. Small countries would normally only have one or two bronze ranked Saints while larger countries may have one or two gold ranked Saints. Legend: Legendary magician warriors that could destroy entire countries. There are only one or two of these magician warriors in the entire world. Most of these Legend magician warriors do not meddle with the affair between countries. They normally protect and lead a large sect. God: Beings with powers rivalling the gods. No human had ever achieved this rank in all of history. Most of the gods in heaven were bronze ranked Gods while Grand Healer and the God of Balance are silver ranked gods. The Great Creator is a gold ranked God. Infinite: Beings with unimaginable powers, easily surpassing the gods in heaven. Malivus would be classified as around a gold ranked Infinite being. Suddenly, a man ran into the room. ¡°Relisa! I heard that our son was born!¡± ¡°Of course, do you want to hold him?¡± Relisa passed baby Malivus into the man¡¯s hands. ¡°What about our daughter?¡± He asked questioningly. ¡°The doctor told me that she suffers from slow growth, she won¡¯t be born for another year.¡± Relisa sighed, shaking her head. ¡°It¡¯s okay, Relisa. It isn¡¯t your fault. Let us find joy within our new son instead of finding sadness in our unborn daughter.¡± ¡°What shall we name him?¡± She asked as she realized the that her husband¡¯s words were wise and correct. ¡°Ruvreus. After my the founder of our clan.¡± ¡°Ruvreus¡. What a beautiful name for a beautiful child.¡± Looking at her child, Relisa wondered just how great and powerful that her son would be. What she didn¡¯t know, however, is that within her child, was the most powerful being in all of creation. Chapter 2- The Attack Hi everyone! Chapter 2 is here! As you know, shorter chapters=quicker updates. Anyways, as always, criticism is welcome. Any suggestions, comment away. Thanks for reading in advance! Enjoy! Chapter 2 Malivus had been in this world for three months already. When he was one month old, his parents already noticed that he was no ordinary child. He was talking fluently and was already able to walk. He wouldn¡¯t play like the other newborns. Rather, he would hole himself up in his room with the tiny amount of books that his house had. Malivus did not have much access to books due to the fact that his parents were both commoners. His "mother", Relisa, was a silver Human ranked magician warrior, this was already stronger than most of the other villagers. Malivus¡¯s ¡°father¡±, apparently named Zavon, was a bronze Gifted ranked magician warrior. He often trained the villagers on how to defend themselves if an attack occurs. He also trained the children in the village, encouraging them to soar to powers far beyond his own. Relisa was constantly resting because of her unborn daughter while Zavon was always training villagers and children to fight due to the increased amount of monster attacks that have been happening around the general vicinity. Malivus was not interested in the everyday doings of either of them and kept studying what the world was like. He learned he was born in the small village of Achernon in the province of Kirewen which was under the jurisdiction of the Sect of Light, a sect who practiced light magic and believed themselves to be extremely righteous. Two months passed in the blink of an eye, Malivus was already three months old. Winter was coming and the villagers soon had to stock up on meat and other resources before winter arrives and robs them of their chance to restock on resources. One day, the men decided to go out in order to hunt for some meat before fall¡¯s end. They would not be back for two weeks so they decided to leave two men to guard the village while they were away. While the men were in the middle of their hunting trip, and the villagers in the middle of their work, a voice shouted out; ¡°Bandits!¡± Panic quickly ensued within the village, with villagers running in all directions trying to get back to their houses to get their children before fleeing. However, to their dismay, they had been surrounded by the bandits with nowhere to run. Many villagers prayed that the Sect of Light would quickly come save them. Others closed their eyes and awaited their death sentence. One bandit came up and saw Malivus¡¯s mother, Relisa. His eyes flashed as he said; ¡°Hey, baby. You¡¯re pretty cute, wanna come with me? I¡¯ll take good care of you.¡± He grabbed her wrist and attempted to drag her away. As Relisa screamed, the bandits laughed. The one who grabbed her laughed and said, ¡°We¡¯re gonna have a fine, fine night.¡± Then he turned around and said to the villagers; ¡°You can live if you give us all your stuff.¡± It was at that moment that Malivus, now known as Ruvreus, waddled out from the crowd. Three month of Ruvreus spoke; ¡°Give me back my mother or you¡¯ll regret it.¡± The entire bandit company laughed while the villagers were saddened, they knew that the bandits wouldn¡¯t spare Ruvreus, a mere child, after he had said such things. Stolen content alert: this content belongs on Royal Road. Report any occurrences. The bandit who took Relisa said; ¡°Haha, you little runt, what are you gonna do to me? You gonna make me laugh to death?¡± He tilted his head back and laughed. All the bandits laughed. And laughed. And laughed. Until that bandit¡¯s head flew off.
I know. I know. You probably think this chapter is too short. But think about it like this... if I have shorter chapters, you can be reading while I''m writing. Much more efficient. :D Chapter 3 - The Decision of Both Realms First release of the day! I''ll try to release at least once per day. Criticism is welcome. Thanks and enjoy! P.S. I think someone mentioned spacing in the comments in the last chapter. Please tell me if this is any better. --- Chapter 3 An old man hurriedly walked through an exquisite palace. Sweat dripped down his face onto his plain, brown robe. He was obviously of lower standing,, a servant to the owners of the palace. He walked until he came face with a huge pair of doors. The doors were obviously made by one who was extremely wealthy, they were plated in gold with an abundance of diamonds and other precious gems dotting them. In the center, there were a pair of intricate door knobs, carved by a master carver out of obsidian. The man took a long, deep breath before opening the door. "Your Majesty " He addressed a man in his late thirties sitting before him. "What is it , Kajin? If it''s not importance then go away." "Your Majesty, we have located Zavon and his wife Relisa. They also have a son named Ruvreus with a daughter on the way." "And? Did you send men to kill them like I told you?" "Your Majesty, I hired a company of 30 Gifted ranked bandits, with their leader being at gold rank." "Haha so that traitor Zavon is finally dead!" Your Majesty.... Zavon isn''t dead. He went off hunting with the other men of the village. When the bandits couldn''t find him, they proceeded to attempt to kill all all the villagers and burn the village." "That''s good too. We can make his life miserable by killing his family." "Yes we could, Your Majesty. However, according to one of the villagers, they were all massacred by by a single man." "A single man?! My God, he has to be at least a Saint rank to kill all those bandits. Find him and recruit him at once! Offer him anything. If we get another Saint ranked magician warrior, we can conquer the whole world!" The genuine version of this novel can be found on another site. Support the author by reading it there. "As you wish, Your Majesty." The old man retreated out of the room. "Haha, Zavon! You damned traitor! Ill get you after I conquer the world! Hahahahaha!" The king said to himself. ---- At the same time, up in the heavens... Iris sat on her bed, extremely worried about what was happening to Malivus. He had raised her for as long as she could remember, Malivus was more of a father to her than her true father, the Great Creator, ever was. She longed to see him again. She cursed herself for going to find him on that day. Her door opened and a woman came in. "Lady Iris, your father has summoned you." "Why should I go?" She asked coldly. "It regards Lord Malivus." When she heard that, Iris immediately got up and followed the old lady to her father. "Iris." "Father." Iris replied to her father coldly. Her father sighed and said; "I know you think that I did something to Malivus., you think that I made him disappears." He started. "However, we have found the soul of Malivus in the mortal realm. I would not meddle in the mortal realm. Therefore, I did not send him there." "The mortal realm? What is he doing there?" "The explosion you heard on that day triggered a spatial portal, causing Malivus''s soul to be reborn into a human''s body." "So? What are you going to do to him? I know you don''t like gods in the mortal realm." "Of course I don''t." He sighed. "However, we haven''t found a way to bring him back. Therefore, we will just let him have a bit of fun for now. I realize that he has been bored with Heaven for a while now. He deserves a break." Iris sighed in relief. Malivus was safe for now. She would watch over him until he returns.
Hehe. More of a teaser for what''s coming next than a chapter. Sorry! :P Chapter 4 - The Test of Aptitude Was planning to release this yesterday. Sorry for late release. Criticism is welcome. Thanks and enjoy! --- Chapter 4 7 years have passed since the bandit attacks. Ruvreus put a magic spell on all the villagers t forget what had happened and fed them a story of a mysterious hero - this was, of course, after they cleaned up the bodies for him. Ruvreus was studying history in his quiet room. His eyes strayed towards a few words: "The Divine Abilities". Ever since the world was created, he had always wanted to learn all the spells and martial skills in existence. After mastering all these powers, numbering in the billions of trillion, one could unlock the ultimate spell. This spell is only known as the Power to Destroy. Over the trillions of years of free time that he had, he managed to master almost every single spell and martial skill. However, when the other great creators learned of his endeavors, they rounded up the final four abilities, two spells, two martial skills, that he had not mastered and hid them all around the mortal world with the help of four great Legend ranked magician warirors. The gods put seals on them so that even he could not detected the presence of the abilities. The Legend ranked magician warriors each mastered one of these abilities and were unstoppable in combat. Other mortals watched in reverence and named these abilities: "The Divine Abilities". "Ruvreus!" The shout was coming from downstairs. "Come downstairs!" Ruvreus obediently listened to his mother''s call and went towards her. Beside her was his father, Zavon. "As you know, today is your 7th birthday. In accordance to the Fourth Decree of the First King, when a child turns 7, they must take a magician warrior aptitude test. I heard that this year, one of the great sects of the country are sending a top ranking member to our village to test us because of the news they have heard of a Saint ranked magician warrior around here. " Zavon muttered "They probably just want to train another Saint ranked warrior so they can conquer the world.... What a foolish brother I have." Love this novel? Read it on Royal Road to ensure the author gets credit. POV of Rendara Lightheart My name is Rendara Lightheart. I am considered a genius in the Sect of Light; at the age of twenty, I was able to reach the Saint rank. Currently, however, I have been stuck as a bronze ranked Saint for the past three years. I can''t seem to make any progress at all. A few days ago, my sect sent me to a small village called Achemon. Apparently, some multiple bronze and silver ranked Gifteds attacked this village a few years back. According to some reports, they were all defeated and killed by a single man. To kill so many Gifteds, this man had to be at least at Saint rank. Obviously, this made him a target to be recruited by multiple countries and sects. My sect sent me here to conduct the aptitude test. However, it''s just an excuse for them to try and find and recruit that Saint ranker. End of POV of Rendara Lightheart The Sect of Light always asked a question to testers before the testing. "What is your dream?" This question decided whether they should taught or not. It told the Sect of Light if the power that they would be given would be used for good or for evil. Then the testers would go in and place their hand on a stone, which would record their current magical and martial powers. Bronze was Human ranked, silver was Gifted, and Gold was Saint. If one was over Saint rank, the stone would explode. When Ruvreus was asked the question, he thought about it for a long time. He wanted to learn those Divine Abilities. Therefore, he needed the manpower of a country to help him. He answered: "I wish to be an emperor." Then he went in and put his hand on the stone that would decide his future. Chapter 5 - The Beginning So some people have been saying that my chapters should be longer. Please comment or let me know which you prefer: longer but longer delay or shorter but shorter delay. I''ll leave this up to you guys. Thanks and enjoy. --- Chapter 4 In order to become someone who could hide in the shadows, someone who was unnoticed, Ruvreus had to hide his powers. He had always been one of the best at magic control. He could restrain his magic to be as low as Human rank or as high as Infinite rank. To keep this stone from shattering, Ruvreus restrained his powers to Human rank and so, the stone glowed a dark bronze. --------------------- POV of Rendara Lightheart Many of these kids have the potential to become Gifted rank. Although Gifted rankers are only average, they make good dispensable soldiers for the sect. They are good for collecting taxes from normal people and to run errands from the sect elders. That''s the only reason why the Sect of Light accepts those who have potential to become Gifted. On the other hand, Saint rankers are much rarer and harder to find. They are considered to be geniuses by the Sect. A young child with brown hair and green eyes stepped into the room. When he placed his hand on the stone, it glowed a dark yet brilliant bronze, brighter but darker than I have ever seen. What is this feeling? I feel like I am being suppressed¡. But, the only way I, a Saint ranker, can be suppressed to the point of being frozen is by a Legend ranker or above. Ruvreus Darknight¡. Just who is this person? End of POV of Rendara Lightheart -------------------------- This book is hosted on another platform. Read the official version and support the author''s work. A day later, Sect of Light ¡°Patriarch, Rendara Lightheart has come to discuss something she discovered at the village that she was assigned to test for aptitude.¡± ¡°Ho¡ I wonder what it could be that she wanted to talk to me¡ Hehe¡ Could it be the Saint ranker that everyone''s talking about? Hehehe¡¡± ¡°No Patriarch. It was something she saw in a child¡.¡± ¡°Ooh¡ Did he break the stone?¡± ¡°I''m not sure. You better just ask her yourself, she won''t speak about it to me.¡± ¡°Alright, tell her to come in here.¡± ¡°Of course.¡± The man walked out and Rendara came in. ¡°Patriarch.¡± Rendara bowed in deference of the leader of the sect.¡± ¡°So, what¡¯s this I hear about a special child?¡± ¡°Although the stone only showed that he was Human ranked, it glowed brighter than a Saint ranker. Even brighter than a Legend ranker restraining their power to not break the stone.¡± ¡°Ho¡. Recruit this kid, he seems interesting.¡± ¡°Of course, Patriarch.¡± Rendara left. ¡°If what she said is true¡. Then we could conquer the world with that kid. Ho¡. I''m excited.¡± On the 14th day of the 4th month of the year of 62382 AC (After Creation), Ruvreus Darknight, son of Zavon, joined the Sect of Light under the premises of Patriarch Fauon the First. And thus begins the story of a fallen god on his journey to find the Power to Destroy.
