《The Wandering King》


 Prologue : The beginning

    (Authors note: This is actually my first ever story that I''ve made and English is not my first language so feel free to correct me if there are things that need to be corrected thanks!)

    For the past two hours, I¡¯ve been walking around the town looking up for information as to where I am and how do I get back to my world. From what I can remember instead of going straight home from school I¡¯ve heard about a rumor circulating on the school about an old bookstore just two blocks away from school. As a bookworm, I was curious and instantly went to the shop after the school ended.


    Ten minutes later I finally arrived at the store. The rumors were true the front of the shop looked like it wasn¡¯t well maintained or you could say it was close to being called a run-down house, as I slowly step inside the shop surprisingly it was clean and well organized. I look around and somehow saw a silhouette at the next room and slowly coming into me.


    ¡°Welcome young one, It¡¯s been a long time seeing people going in my shop especially for a young guy like you so what can I do for you?¡± said by an old looking guy.


    His clothes were tattered and I could smell something weird from him and it looked like he hasn¡¯t bathed in weeks while greeting me he kept moving some books from one place to another. Since I was curious I grabbed some books to look up to some of the titles it was.

    ¡°Learn how to ABC¡± what seriously?


    ¡°The Wandering King¡± this looks interesting I muttered to myself.


    ¡°How much for this book?¡± I asked the old man while lightly rubbing the book.


    ¡°Sorry young man but those books are not for sale. Instead, you can read it for free in here just head to the next room and find yourself some table¡± Said by the old man while blowing some dust away from another book.


    I was kinda sad when I heard that the book wasn¡¯t for sale, but then he said I could read it for free. So I headed straight away to the next room and could see more books that looked like it hasn¡¯t been touched for years. I could see spider webs on every corner inside the room. The way the room was design it felt like I was inside of some Medieval theme houses it looked really different from outside.


    ¡°Hmmm looks like the book finally chose a King¡± muttered by the old man while smirking.


    After a continues struggle of tidying up the table I sat comfortably and scanned the first page of the book, instead of an English language it was different it looked like an ancient writing and seconds later the writings were glowing yellow as I look at both at my hands it was slowly disappearing while in panic I kept yelling to the old man from another room to help me but instead the old man came at the door and said.


    "Welcome to the World of Astraea"

 Chapter 1 : Class E

    I still can''t believe what happened especially what the old man said before I disappeared. The next thing I knew the scenery already felt different I was surrounded by trees and I could hear a stream of water just nearby and noises of people, so I tried finding a road while still confused until finally I saw a road connected to a nearby town I fixed myself up and headed straight. I was amazed how the town looked like one of the fantasy books that I''ve read before the town was surrounded by long stone walls minutes later I arrived at the entrance and there were 2 guards staring at me, one guard asked me.


    "I never saw you before? where did you come from?" while staring at me intensely.


    "¡­." I didn''t know what to answer and just stared at him back blankly the two of them weren''t your normal human guard, I could see an animal ear and they had tails, their size was bigger than a human, if I have to describe them, one looked like a half tiger and the other one is half wolf.


    "HAHAHA, relax young man! perhaps is this the first time you''ve seen a Warbeast? and the way you dress does not look like you are from here either. Don''t worry about the other guy he stares at you like that since his eyes have a problem even though he''s a wolf hahaha." said by the half tiger who kept laughing nonstop


    "This town is called Almond where the new adventurers gather many kinds of races gather here especially during this time since there will be an expedition coming up soon. Still you look suspicious but nahh you are probably still too weak to be an offender so feel free to enter!" said by the half tiger.


    After two hours of looking around the town and asking from people, I finally got myself some information about this world. First is the world is divided by 4 kingdoms and Almond is a part of the Escavell Kingdom. There are two major factions that are keeping order in all 4 kingdoms and that is "The Adventurer''s Guild and The Institute of Magic".


    The Adventurer''s Guild are for people who has a passion of being Adventurous they are given quests by the guild like finding some lost treasures or fending off monsters who are lurking outside the towns there is easy quest too that will be given to Class E-D like collecting materials or herbals outside the town. There are six kinds of different classes in an adventurer and that is from Class E, D, C, B, A and S they will be tested from an orb before registering themselves to become adventurer.


    The Institute of Magic are for people who are blessed with mana, they consist of Magic Researchers who are learning the secrets of magic from endless boundaries. The second one are the Magic Engineering they are the people who provide magic tools to normal people of daily uses and the Adventurer''s Guild. The Institute of Magic can only be joined by a person who has a rank of a noble and above.


    While still thinking about my situation, I just remembered I don''t even have money to buy myself some food especially now I''m hungry. So I decided to join the Adventurer''s Guild, I asked some directions from people and minutes later, finally the guild is right in front of me. after opening the door, I could see different kinds of adventurers drinking at the lounge and some are going at some desk to get rewards from quests. Since I will be registering for the first time, I needed to head to the front desk in the registering section. So I headed straight to the front desk and saw an elf looking girl who works for the guild happily welcomed me.

    "Hello, my name is Maine and welcome to the guild! if you would like to join the guild just put both of your hands to the orb right in front of you. and don''t worry registering for the guild is free, instead we will happily give you 10 coppers for your starting equipment."


    "I see.. so I just need to place both of my hands.." nervously I repeated what she said because I wouldn''t know what would show up when I place both of my hands on the orb.


    "DING!" Suddenly a light blue screened appeared in front of me.

    "Congratulations! you are now officially a member of the Adventurer''s Guild."


    "For joining the guild we will be giving you 10 coppers for your starting equipment, a magic bracelet to show your current status and some bread. take note if you are out of food feel free to eat in here and have some bread but don''t forget too much bread is not good for you! and if you want to do some quest just grab yourself a quest note outside on the guild board, and be reminded before turning in your quest you need to hand over the quest note and a proof for completing the quest to get your reward." said by Maine happily.


    After listening to Maine, I grab the bracelet that she gave me and equipped it.

    So by equipping the bracelet I''ll get to learn an <inspect> skill passively, and by the looks of my status window from earlier I guess being a bookworm finally paid off, as my intelligence was higher than the rest of my status somehow this feels like an RPG that I''ve played before, but I''ll probably won''t respawn when I die which is not good, after learning a bunch of stuff I think it''s finally time to do my first quest.


    "Here I go!" I muttered to myself while feeling refreshed.
