《OutRage: Total Realism.》 Prologue AUTHOR''S Note - Yes hello, this is my first attempt at publishing a work online, I would be very grateful for any constructive criticism and ask that you judge fairly... and enjoy. P.S. "" = talking out loud, whilst [] = the MC''s thoughts. "Ahh...", Henry let out a sigh as he leaned back at his desk. Brushing the sweat from his forehead, he turned to look at the clock showing it was fifteen minutes till the end of class. The class having basically finished but unable to be let out yet as it was against school policy, everyone was chatting quietly with the people around them. But they were all talking about the same topic, a new game called Outrage: Total Realism, as today is the day when the servers come online, because almost all purchases are made online nowadays everyone who owned a VR headset could buy all the games they want online. Some people were saying things like "OMG, I cant believe that its starting today!" and "So, what kind of character are you going to make?" to which his friend replied "dude, no question I''m going to be a Knight.", obviously all important discussions which couldn''t help but bring a light smile to Henry''s face. [Are these guys idiots or what? don''t they know that Outrage doesn''t have the standardized classes of other MMO''s?] Just then the bell rang which signaled the end of the school day, pushing out my chair grabbing my books and heading to the door, filing out into the rest of the school, and winding his way home though the main streets. The sound of a blasting air conditioner greeted him as he opened the door telling him that his sister and mother were already home. "Hey, how was your day at uni?" called his mother from the living room. "Same as ever, but anyway I''m going to go relax for a while." He answered making his way upstairs, already planning on taking a quick shower before jumping into Outrage''s character creation before the servers officially open. Ten minutes later, he''d taken a shower and got ready to put on the VR headset, lying down on the bed and getting comfortable.
Welcome, to OutRage: Total Realism.
These words appeared before his eyes as the world went dark and he found himself floating alone, when suddenly his feet found solid ground and found himself face to face with a colourful swirling ball of light about the size of his head. This text was taken from Royal Road. Help the author by reading the original version there. "Ehh? when will you guys stop coming, I mean seriously I lost count after the first few million..." Announced the swirling ball of light, as it bobbed around inspecting the new arrival. [what the hell? Is this a GM or something?] "can I make my character now or... What?" As Henry didn''t really know what to expect, he decided it would be best to try and get back on track. "hmm, sure but first fill out these forms and then we can get started." A stack of about fifty pieces of paper appeared in Henry''s hands, as he stared at it with a dumbfounded look he couldn''t help but say, "isn''t this a game?! why the f*** do i have to fill out paperwork?!" Which wasn''t really the best thing to come out of his mouth, as this particular ball of light had had a really bad day listening to idiotic kids all complaining about having to fill out forms and whining about their hand cramps. So the ball of light did as most would when at the end of their patience, punched their problem in the face. How did a non-physical ball of light punch someone in the face you ask? It''s quite simple really, the ball of light rushed in front of Henry''s face and continued on through it, not even hurting him in the slightest which only seemed to enrage him further as he continued to rush through Henry''s head for the next two minutes. After a fruitless two minutes of attack, the ball of light seemed to shrink a little and hovered low near the floor. Now during these two minutes Henry was really confused and then a little sympathetic to this ball of light as he proceeded to fill out the forms, which stated that BlackMarsh Entertainment is in no way liable to any and all forms of physical and mental harm you come to by playing this game, as this is your conscious decision to play it accepting any and all responsibility to your own safety. [this is seriously scaring the S*** out of me, what do they mean by physical and mental harm?!] "Hey, light ball guy? what does it mean by physical and mental harm I mean its not like I can get hurt playing a video game?" As if bringing the light ball out of its stupor, it went back to its original size and floated over saying, "actually because the game is set such a high level of realism there are no pain filters, and basically no systems in place other then town guards and NPC''s to stop other players from murdering, raping and or doing anything they want." Hearing this he felt cold spikes prickling his spine, as the blood drained from his face. OutRage: Total Realism - Ch 1 - The first day. A.N. - Hello again thank you for reading this, I just wanted to say that I''m not sure for how long this will go, and I probably wont update this everyday as school comes first but I''m not sure as to the direction of this or how it end at this point soo it should be interesting for myself as an... let''s say "exploration of self view" maybe or something like that anyway enjoy, or don''t as this is what it is and if you don''t like the way it goes then it isn''t for you. "actually because the game is set such a high level of realism there are no pain filters, and basically no systems in place other then town guards and other NPC''s to stop other players from murdering, raping and or doing anything they want." Hearing this he felt cold spikes prickling his spine, as the blood drained from his face. ... ... ... Still as statue, nothing moved and no one said a word as Henry came to terms with what the ball of light just said. [y...you how can you just say it like its normal!? AND HOW IS THIS LEGAL?!!!?] "Are you done with those forms yet, you take fo-orever..." "WHAT!? YOU''RE MORE WORRIED ABOUT PAPERWORK THAN PEOPLE GETTING RAPED?! WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?!" ... ... ... "sooo~, are you done yet?~" The ball of light seemed to be forgetting about its horrible day, watching him freak out. "NO! you didn''t even give me a pen, HOW DO I EVEN SIGN WITHOUT A PEN!?" Henry felt that he was getting a little over excited at this point, as his breathing was becoming ragged as he worried over his future within the game, heck does this even count as a game at this point? "what do you mean? this is just your standard ''Terms and Conditions'' you don''t even need to read any of it, just say ''I Accept'' and we can get started" [This just gets shadier and shadier, why does it feel like im signing away for my organs to be harvested without my permission]. As Henry''s shoulders seemed to sink into himself he belatedly said, "I Accept" As soon as the words left his mouth the Bill of Sale: For one Soul *ahem Terms and Conditions, disappeared in a puff of light grey smoke, blinding Henry for a few seconds and causing him to choke for a few seconds. *various coughing, choking and retching sounds* "Huh? where did... where am I now?" As he blinked away the tears in his eyes, he saw that he was no longer in that black void and was now in a dimly light garden forest, deep green soft looking grass under his feet with the smell of recent rain hanging in the air. He found himself standing next to a wrought iron lamppost that shone brightly against the night. All around were hedge rows taller then himself with various entrances cut into the hedges, some are well maintained whilst others were barely recognizable as the hedges had tried to reclaim the cut away area. [why do i get the feeling that i shouldn''t be here...] Just as that thought crossed his mind a notice window appeared before him with a soft chime, causing him to flinch in surprise.
Welcome, be brave and make a choice. Walk the well defined path or the one less traveled. The choice you make now will guide you for the rest of your life. You have until darkness claims you.
After getting over the initial shock, he quickly read through the text. [oi oi, isn''t this a bit cliche... must be the tutorial or something] Slowly the garden seemed to become a little dimmer, only now did he realize that he was on a timer and should hurry and decide where to go. Looking around there are ten different paths, walking over to one he saw that a stone was stuck in the base of the entrance, carved on that stone was a symbol in the shape of a droplet. [I wonder what that''s about? does this have something to do with my choice?] Quickly checking all the entrances confirmed that there are stones with symbols marking each Entrance. There are the droplet, campfire, mountain, storm-cloud, white circle, black circle, sword, bow and arrow, crossed daggers and musical note. "Well I can guess what most of these are, the first four are obviously the four main elements: water, fire, earth and wind. But the circles and the musical note are ambiguous at best, probably light and dark, but the note could mean a bard or something... Anyway the last three must be something akin to: warrior, archer and rogue of some sort." As he puzzles over the meaning behind the symbols the light only grows dimmer. [okay, okay... Now that I sort of know whats through each Entrance, which do I want to enter?] Making his decision he finally notices how dark its gotten and rushes towards his chosen gate, as the area is fairly large and he had wandered back to the center during his pondering, it takes him a good fifteen seconds to arrive at the Entrance as the light quickly dims he can no longer see the edges of the garden but he presses on toward the way he thinks is his Entrance, the storm-cloud. Passing through the gate, he feels a breeze whip past is back, turning around he sees metal spikes sticking out from the hedges, barring the way back which now has nothing but darkness behind it. Sweat runs down Henry''s spine as he contemplates whether it was triggered by him passing the gate or it was a timed activation. [only a little slower and I might have been stuck between those spikes...] Having thoroughly encouraged him to hurry onward, he all but sprints down the path before him and its only seconds before he sees light bathing the hedges ahead in a light yellow glow. Coming out of the hedge path, it once again closes behind him. Taking stock of where he just recklessly charged into, he sees another circular garden with a lamppost in the center giving off a light glow revealing yet more Entrances, he slowly catches his breathe and makes his way around checking each Entrance of which there are five, only the symbols engraved onto the base stones are much harder to identify. They are an open palm, a closed fist, a heart, a stack of coins and a scale. Once again he is broken out of his pondering by a soft chime.
Seeking power, you chose the Power of Storms. What is your greatest desire? You have until darkness claims you.
Less surprised this time, he quickly reads the message and realization dawns on him what the symbols mean. Peace, Battle, Love, Wealth and Justice. [HUH!? What the hell... Does this even make a difference what I choose? Will I get a bonus or something?] Not really giving this choice much thought he decides to just close his eyes and spin with his arm pointed in front of him. Opening his eyes after almost falling over he walks over to the closest Entrance he was pointing to, the garden getting quite dark now he realizes that he wont get another chance to get through a Entrance. Remembering the Spikes, he sprints through the gate not checking the symbol he chose and blindly rushing into the next Garden, much the same as the last although there is only one Entrance, except that it is sealed by spikes. Just as Henry was catching his breath from the exertion, he heard a noise from behind, footsteps. He quickly turns around and *BAM THUD* "uuuuuuuu~". Having blacked out for a few seconds because he was just headbutted under the chin, Henry groggily feels something heavy on top of him and stones digging into his back, as he slowly opens his eyes he sees a mess of brown hair and teary eyes partly hidden beneath their fringe. The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident. The person seems to be out of breath and is shaking, as they slowly crawl off his chest, only to collapse on the dirt next to him breathing heavily. Henry gets to his feet shaking his head to clear away the accompanying dizzy feeling and the aching from his jaw, he inspects his tired attacker. Its a small girl about 5''''3'', she is wearing a dirt stained white shirt and pants, the same as himself meaning that she must be another player. "h-hey, um girl... are you okay?" he nervously asked, as he is a habitual loner speaking to new people isn''t his strong suit. The girl slowly raises herself off the ground, reminding Henry about a zombie movie he watched recently causing him to take a small step back as she turned her flushed face towards him. "uuuu~ I-I''m s-sorry! I-I-I was just so scared, that I d-didn''t think where I was going, I chose my door pretty late and then the light went out a-and..." As soon as she started talking Henry lost all caution at the sight of this small and frightened girl, she reminded him of his little sister being afraid of the dark. "a-aaaaah~ it''s okay... um by the way what door did you just pick?" Hearing this the stammering girl went quiet and her face flushed even further, causing Henry to become worried. [just what Entrance did i go through?! oh please don''t be love?!] Having his fears justified, "L-Love..." she whispered quietly looking off in the direction of the sealed Entrance. A soft chime suddenly rings.
Congratulations!

[WHAT THE HELL IS THIS *beeping beep,* WHAT KIND OF *beeping beep beep* IS THIS!?!?] Having just read through his new title, Henry is quite upset, while he is busy cursing in his mind he doesn''t notice that the girl had also just received a message window and is also quite flustered. Breaking them from their own personal thoughts is the sound of another soft chime playing.
This is the Final Garden of Choice. As you have chosen the power of Storms, you must use it to fight the Guardian or be returned to the beginning of the Gardens of Choice through death. You have until darkness claims you.
The sound of shifting soil and torn grass, alerts the two of a new presence located in front of the Sealed Entrance, it looked like a mole the size of a smart car, with dark brown fur and light pink paws and snout. Looking to the girl and back to the mole, the thoughts running through Henry''s head were whether or not to use the girl as bait and run, but thinking it through that would mean leaving the girl to be torn apart by the mole''s huge claws. sighing, "hey, girl see if you can climb the lamppost, I''ll try and distract him..." The girl, who he didn''t even know the name of suddenly looked at him with wide eyes and trembling lips, before nodding and sprinting towards the lamppost. [what did I get myself into...] The mole seemed unaware of the fact that the girl just started climbing the lamppost, and still standing in front of the Sealed Entrance. Henry quickly tried to figure out how to use the power he had gained, "um, wind! uhh, MAGIC WIND!? uuuuuuh~" he could hear stifled giggles coming from the lamppost but decided to focus on the task at hand. [come o-on, think! How is magic normally used in games? skills? status windows?] With sudden and long overdue insight, Henry says "Status window!" *chime*

"YES!", Henry suddenly shouted his success, almost dislodging the girl on the lamppost in her surprise. "Kyaa~!" Ignoring the sudden interruption, which caused her to stare daggers at him, he pressed his finger on the skills to see what they did. They opened with a soft chime.
Static Touch
Small sparks jump between your fingers, crackling and buzzing in tune with your heartbeat.
Static Touch deals 3 Damage p/Beat at 10 Mana p/second
Wind Blast
A Powerful gust of wind is concentrated and directed by your hand.
Wind Blast deals 0 Damage, but causes large knock-back at a cost of 15 Mana
As Henry reads further through his two skills, the only thing in his mind is how he is going to completely dominate that Mole. A.N. - Aaaaaand Cliffhanger, because I''m tired. That and it''s a great spot for a cliffhanger. :P OutRage: Total Realism - Ch 2 - Her First Day. A.N. - This is a point of view change, soo for those who wanted to see Henry fight the Mole, Next chapter. Stephanie Lockwel was on her way home after a long and boring day at University, as it was summer currently everything just seems to be on the point of melting, or at least that''s how she liked to see it. [I can''t wait~!, I just want to get home and play!] Lost in her own thoughts about what she was going to be playing later, she didn''t realize that the crosswalk was red and was about to walk into oncoming traffic, when she was suddenly jerked back with enough force to send her sprawling on the ground. "Hey! what''s the bi-" She started to exclaim, only to be cut off mid sentence by a guy a little taller than herself, with dark hair, grey eyes, and a scrawny build, wearing a t-shirt that says "Always be yourself! Unless you can be Batman, then always be Batman" "Watch where you''re going!" Then the mysterious guy was gone as the crosswalk had just turned green, leaving the girl there confused and thankful but a little upset at his behavior. She quickly got home, making sure not to space out again on the way. As soon as she walked in she knew that he hadn''t done anything, there were dirty dishes in the sink, trash lying around and the main culprit passed out on the couch surrounded by cans of beer. Already used to the sight, she started cleaning everything, picking up and disposing of the trash, cleaning the dishes and making sure that he hadn''t thrown up, left to take a shower. Having cheered up a bit after finally being able to feel clean after a hot day, she decided it was time for her to start, checking the time as she grabbed her VR headset, it said it was 4:50PM, so there was still some time before the official servers open. *chime*.
Welcome to Outrage: Total Realism
This being the first thing she saw upon opening up the game, filled her with excitement, at least until it disappeared and she was left floating in a dark void. Steph being who she is, is completely afraid of the dark, to the extent that she sleeps with her computer on so that its not too dark at night. So, she was utterly terrified, not even noticing that she now felt solid ground even when her knees gave out. [WHY!? WHY?! WHY?! DARK! DARK! DAAAAARK!!!] Steph broke down crying for a good five minutes, only to be interrupted by something like a miracle. "uh~ if you''re done crying can I get you to sign some forms?" As if a switch in Steph''s mind flipped, she stood up and stared at the swirling ball of light. [MINE! No more dark, LIGHT! GIVE IT NOW, ITS MINE!] Stretching her arms to make a grab at the ball of light, which the ball mistook for her accepting the forms, she felt something heavy in her hands distracting her from the glowing ball. "what are these?!" obviously shocked at the huge amount of paperwork, that appeared out of no where. "Those are the ''Terms and Conditions'' for playing OutRage: Total Realism, if you dont say ''I Accept'' I cannot allow you to continue", said the Ball, causing Steph who didn''t want to be bothered with legal stuff immediately said, "I Accept". With a puff of acrid smoke the paperwork, disappeared and left her blinded and choking. When her coughing finally seized she blinked back tears from her eyes and saw herself in a circular garden with a lamppost in the center bathing everything in light, which was comforting as it seemed to be night time.
Welcome, be brave and make a choice. Walk the well defined path or the one less traveled. The choice you make now will guide you for the rest of your life. You have until darkness claims you.
Breaking out in cold sweat at the last line of text, Steph hurriedly tried to figure out what choice she had to make. Seeing the Doors cut into the hedges she ran to the nearest one and saw a stone in the ground before it with the shape of a sword carved into it. Coming to the conclusion that each of these Doors probably have a stone at their respective bases, she sprinted by checking each one, which as expected had a symbol carved into each one. the Sword, Daggers, Bow & Arrow, a white circle, a black circle, a storm-cloud, a mountain, a fire, a rain-drop and a musical note. Before the light could dim beyond darkening the furthest hedge, Steph had already made her choice and sprinted into the door without looking, she didn''t even notice the spikes sealing the way back as she ran as fast as her legs could carry her. Seeing another source of light ahead she visibly relaxed and smiled brightly thinking it was over. *chime*
Seeking Absolution from the Dark, you chose the Power of Fire. What is your greatest desire? You have until darkness claims you.
"uuuuu~ why is this happening to me?" As she didn''t expect nor receive a reply to her question she hurriedly looked around the garden clearing she found herself in, which seemed to be identical to the last one with tall hedges surrounding a circular clearing, with a tall lamppost in the center giving off light and revealing the Doors. Inspecting each door, she realized that there was only five this time, with an open palm, a closed fist, a heart, a stack of coins and a scale. [this is soo embarrassing, do I have to choose? Of course I do what am I thinking the lamp is... THE LAMP IS GETTING DARKER!!?] She understood what the choices were, but couldn''t help but think that she didn''t really have a desire. Peace and War didn''t seem to concern her, and she didn''t care for money, so her only choices as it seemed to Steph was Love or Justice. "What is with this choice..? Its not like I''m seeking revenge for me or someone else..." Having already realized what was left from her process of elimination, she groaned in embarrassment, "uuuuuuuh~" but she noticed that the light was steadily getting dimmer and this scared her into motion. Forgetting her embarrassment she rushed through the Door and into the garden passage, not looking where she was running. The only thought in her mind [Oh god, please let there be light at the end of this tunnel!]. *BAM THUD* "uuuuuuuu~", [ow, my head hurts! what did I hit?] quickly realizing that she was now on top of someone. She tried crawling off them only to collapse, her lungs burning and limbs shaking from her mad dash earlier. As she lays there trying to catch her breath and calm herself, she hears a voice. "h-hey, um girl... are you okay?", hearing this she slowly dragged herself to her feet whilst thinking about what just happened. You might be reading a stolen copy. Visit Royal Road for the authentic version.[damn I just ran into someone didn''t I? I should apologize...] Turning to face him, as she just realized it was a guy, her face flushed a bright red. "uuuu~ I-I''m s-sorry! I-I-I was just so scared, that I d-didn''t think where I was going, I chose my door pretty late and then the light went out a-and..." As she continued to stammer out her apology, she got a good look at the guy and realized it was the same guy from earlier today, only adding to her embarrassment. [he probably thinks I''m a complete air head... wait, why do I care?] Abruptly cutting off her train of thought his face seemed to relax and he said, "a-aaaaah~ it''s okay... um by the way what door did you just pick?" quickly facing away from him, trying to hide the growing blush on her face an awkward silence grew between them until she finally answered in a barely audible whisper, "L-Love...". A soft chime suddenly rings.
Congratulations!
For being the first Female Player to blindly charge down the path of Love headfirst, for whole-heartedly choosing Love over all other desires you have earned the Paired Unique Title: ''Heart-Linked Chain Bearer''

At a loss for words, Steph quietly freaks out while staring this status window, not really believing how absurd this title is only to look over at the guy she ran into, seeing him utterly frozen in shock staring at a floating blue window. A quiet feeling of unease and doubt crept into her mind. [no, no way... I mean it can''t.... I mean it''s only a coincidence he saved me earlier, right?!] Breaking them from their own personal thoughts is the sound of another soft chime playing.
This is the Final Garden of Choice. As you have chosen the power of Fire, you must use it to fight the Guardian or be returned to the beginning of the Gardens of Choice through death. You have until darkness claims you.
Flinching at the sound of shifting soil and torn grass, alerting the two of a new presence located in front of the Sealed Entrance, it looked like a mole the size of a bull, with dark brown fur and light pink paws and snout. As Steph stared in shock and disbelief at the gigantic mole she could only look on frozen, she then heard an audible sigh from her right. "Hey, girl see if you can climb the lamppost, I''ll try and distract him..." [huh? As if, no one is that selfless... I mean we only just met... why would he help me?] Troubled by her thoughts she searched his face for any hint of deceit, seeing only honesty she nodded and sprinted to the lamppost. Running to the lamppost she saw that the mole was staying in same spot, as if guarding something. [Is that the way out?] Arriving at the lamppost she put her left foot on its raised base and tried to launch herself to the bars extending out horizontally from the light fixture. After a few tries she succeeds and perches herself on the bars, looking over at the guy she sees him waving his hands and saying, "um, wind! uhh, MAGIC WIND!? *groan*". Steph could barely hold in her laughter at this surreal scene, which only seemed to aggravate the guy as his shoulders hunched defensively while trying to ignore her. Suddenly she faintly hears, "Status Window!" followed by a large shout, "YES!" which almost made her fall from the lamppost as she wasn''t expecting such a sudden and loud noise. Glaring daggers at him, she quietly said "status window". Hearing a soft chime it opened.

Looking at her status she saw that she had two skill, tapping on them to see if they would show her what they did. A soft chime played.
Flare
Concentrates all light in the surrounding area to form a flash as bright as the sun.
Flare deals 0 Damage, causes blindness. Use with caution. 100 Mana cost
Ignite
Heat gathers at the targeted location, sucking away moisture and setting anything within aflame.
Ignite deals 10 Damage p/second, must be channeled to a target within 10m. 40 Mana p/second. High chance to inflict burned debuff.
Looking over to the guy who just seems to help her every time she sees him, finding herself determined not to leave him fighting the mole on his own. How Stuff works, also why I havent wrote more. This is all my thoughts on how things will work within the Novel, its not everything as I''m sure there are things I''m forgetting. The reason why i didn''t post more is because of... "SCHOOL" *Ahem*. Races are everyone starts Human. The next chapter will come soon, hopefully... ;) Bodies in the game accumulate their own fatigue and as such need to rest during game time. As such will need to rest, like sleeping and sitting. Satiety will need attention as lots of exertion will decrease it faster and will require food and water when it gets low. When a NPC or Player mage dies their corpse turns into an undead their mana resurrecting their corpse whereas they respawn elsewhere, the amount of mana determines the undead''s type and level, spent mana cannot be used in the transformation. Flare causes permanent blindness to unprotected eyes, although healers can fix it. (although they need to know how). Doesn''t affect magical sensory abilities or spells. Starting spells are unique to the player, can be similar but not the same. No weapon or armor restrictions, although say if a mage where to use full plate-mail, their movement would be heavily restricted because they would either not have enough strength or would but will have a smaller intelligence so less mana. Stats can be earned in game through exercise, like weight training for STR and running long distances for stamina and agility. (but it consumes a lot of time to do so). Magic can be learnt by all, using trainers, by reading spell books and learning how to cast them on their own, as such it is limited by what they are capable of learning it will not be a instant thing. Affinity, what it does: All affinity is also the resistance to that element, as such 20% affinity is a base reduction in damage when attacked by that element of a 20% damage reduction. Also it acts as a spell cost reduction in that affinity. Working out to 100% affinity of a element gives 80% spell cost reduction, 25% affinity is 20% spell cost reduction. CANNOT have conflicting affinities, E.G. if you have AIR affinity, cannot gain EARTH affinity. Although you can learn the spells you wont gain affinity and will incur a spell cost increase, 100% AIR affinity will incur a 80% spell cost increase. Although they can still gain an affinity in the other elements. The Elements what they do: FIRE - focus''s on burning shit, namely combustion, heat and light. WATER - Focus''s on water current, condensation, ice, pressure and any liquid. although anything other then water will incur a mana cost penalty. EARTH - Focus''s on density, tectonic shift, friction and mass. AIR - focus''s on air current manipulation, weather control, flight, electricity. LIGHT - Focus''s on Photons. DARK - Focus''s on shadow manipulation. SOUND - Will be a area of effect buff and debuff spell focus, requires actual skill with music. Eqaution for Static touch is : 3DMG per/Heartbeat at 10 Mana per/second at rest a human heart is somewhere between 60 to 100 which will get lower the more exercise a person does our MC is a chronic gamer, e.g little to no Exercise. For standardization sake at rest his heartbeat is 100 per minute. That would be 300 DMG if he had the mana to hold it for a minute, he has 200 mana, meaning he can hold it for a MAXIMUM of 20 seconds, his mana regen at 0.5 per/second would regen him 10 mana by the time he reached 20 seconds. This story originates from Royal Road. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there. Now 20 seconds is a third of a minute and so would do a third of a minutes DMG e.g. 100 DMG. BUT that is as if he wasn''t hopped up on adrenaline in a combat situation which he would as he knows that death and injury will hurt like all hell. So lets assume his heartbeat is a little higher, say about 150 per minute. At 150 p/minute he would do 450 DMG, as we worked out earlier his mana wont sustain that. So his damage for 20 seconds would be 150 DMG. Stats how they work: VITALITY 1 POINT is 10 hp and 0.002 regen per/second ENDURANCE 1 POINT is 10 Stamina & 0.025 Regen P/sec STRENGTH 1 POINT is 5kg of carry capacity and 0.5kg of max weapon weight, Attack DMG modifier +0.25% of weapon DMG. DEXTERITY 1 POINT reduction of movement error by 0.2%, what I mean by this is hand shake and over-correction on the players part. RESISTANCE 1 POINT is +0.25% to Alcohol, Poison and disease. Affinities work like resistance. INTELLIGENCE 1 POINT 10 Mana and 0.025 regen per/sec AGILITY 1 POINT increase of base Attack speed by 0.1 attacks per/second. with a base increase of Movement speed to 0.5 Meters per/second. LUCK does almost nothing, although players with high luck tend to win more when gambling. How attack speed and movement speed is calculated: Strength equals 5, that''s a max of 25Kg of weight you can carry before severe penalties are incurred. Although for every 1% of max weight is carried will incur a 0.5% movement speed penalty. E.G. if a player with 5 strength carries 12.5kg that''s 50% of max weight they will incur a 25% movement penalty. Weapon weight works like, if the weapon is within the max weapon weight it wont incur a usability penalty of -50% Dexterity and attack speed as well as a 25% stamina drain. Although for every 1% of max weapon weight will incur a -0.5% attack speed penalty. E.G. 5 STR equals 2.5Kg max weapon weight and 5 Agility the base attack speed is 0.5 per/second or 1 attack every 2 seconds, say they equip a dagger that weighs 500grams which is 0.5Kg it will incur a 20% attack speed penalty, putting it down to 0.4 per/ second or 1 attack every 2.5 seconds. Agility equals 5, so 2.5 Meters per/second in movement speed, with a 25% penalty it goes to 1.875 Meters per/second. Although this is just a base calculation upon the stats, telling us the timing they can perform the action at the peak of conditions, it doesn''t tell whether or not they can mentally keep to these timings, as they can make a crap-load of ineffectual and wild swings which will do less DMG as they don''t have the max amount of power behind them, or have taken the time to aim... It''s basically an indication of the timings. Monster drops: Can harvest material from corpses, items such as coins can be found in beasts, while humanoids in their bags. Stats who gets what: Warriors get a +5 vitality, +5 endurance and +2 strength Rogues and Archers get a +5 to Dexterity and Agility magic users get a +10 to intelligence. Stamina: Walking consumes 0.3 stamina per/second Running consumes 1 stamina per/second Jumping consumes 10-20 stamina depending on how much energy is put into the jump. One-handed attack will take a base of 10 stamina, with an increase of 2 stamina per 5% of max weapon weight. Two-handed attack will take a base of 20 stamina, with an increase of 4 stamina per 5% of max weapon weight.
give it a refresh i just spaced things out and fixed some mistakes... :P OutRage: Total Realism - Ch 3 - The Might of Moles and Magic Henry had just finished checking his spells when he realized that the garden was getting darker, the light was fading. [ah, crap looks like I need to hurry up and fight this overgrown mole... hmm, let''s try this.] Taking off as fast as he could he sprinted towards the mole, which was standing directly in front of the gate. "What are you doing?!", shouted the small girl sitting atop the lamppost. Not bothering to distract himself he didn''t look away from the Mole, just as he came upon the Mole he saw a small window floating above its head.

Not slowing down he raised his right hand as he went to circle around the left side of the Mole, who had finally deigned to notice something moving around him. Before he could get into position, the Mole stabbed its front claws into the ground using them as spades it threw clumps of soil at Henry as if trying to bury him. "AH, WIND BLAST!", feeling a strange sensation in his right hand before a huge gust of wind blasted all the soil and loose stones back at the Mole. -13 DMG - 12 MANA *(mana cost is lower than skill states because of affinity mana cost reduction) [787/800] Being stunned for a good second, Henry didn''t see the Moles claw swipe at him through the dust. "oof-", getting the wind knocked from his lungs with the sound of cracking ribs and being thrown ten meters away. -60 [40/100] As he struggled to breathe, he heard a soft whimpering, [Is that me? No how can I make any sort of sound when I can hardly breathe... ah F*ck my chest hurts.] Heavy steps and scraping sounds, tell him that he really needs to get up as the Mole isn''t finished with him. Cursing himself for running in like an idiot he spits out a mouthful of blood and climbs to his feet. He see''s the Mole is almost upon him and he quickly backpedals before running into the lamppost just two steps from where he fell. Hearing a yell above him, "I-IGNITE!". Looking up he see''s a thin hand outstretched pointed down, following the direction of the the hand with a dumbfounded look on his face he feels before he sees the immense heat and then the flames that seemed to be trying to devour the Mole. -10 DMG -32 MANA [780/800] *(not 777 because regen) The Mole came to an abrupt stop, with a wail and ear-splitting screech it flailed about trying to put itself out. -10 DMG -32 MANA [770/800] Breaking from his stupor, Henry pointed his right hand at the Mole, with a slight and bloody grin he said "Wind Blast!". The same strange feeling of something gathering inside his hand before the huge gust of wind slammed into the mole fanning the flames and knocking it a few meters away and off its feet. -10 DMG compounded effect x 3 -32 MANA, -12 MANA Burned effect applied will no longer regen health. *(health, mana, stamina regen applies at all times.) [740/800] When the Mole came to a stop the flames were out and its fur was blackened and smoldering, quickly checking his mana he saw [192.5/200], seeing the Mole getting back up he quickly ran over behind it grabbing some uncharred fur on its back and said, "Static Touch". 3 x (164/60) = 8.2 -8.2 DMG -8 MANA [731.8/800] The Mole being subjected to high voltage current, couldn''t move as its muscles convulsed and contracted. -8.2 DMG -8 MANA [727.6/800] The acrid smell of burning flesh and singed hair was causing Henry to choke and cough, which wasn''t very pleasant with cracked ribs. -2 [38/100] 3 x (170/60) = 8.5 -8.5 DMG -8 MANA [719.1/800] Henry used his free hand to pull his shirt over his mouth and nose. The Mole was making small whimpering noises as the electricity poured throughout its body causing more pain than actual damage, the girls face went pale and she looked as if she was trying desperately not to vomit. -8.5 DMG -8 MANA [710.6/800] Counting down the mana consumption in his head, he knew that he only had 20 or so seconds before he was out of mana. [crap, I don''t have enough mana... F*ck, F*ck, F*CK!!] The light slowly got dimmer, the outer clearing of the garden becoming shrouded in darkness. Sitting atop the lamppost visibly paling, she shrieked and yelled, "NO NO NO NO, BRING THE BIG BASTARD OVER HERE I NEED SOMETHING TO BURN!" Henry severely shocked at her massive change in character inadvertently stopped casting Static Touch, staring at her for a split second before looking back to the Mole which had lost bladder control and was breathing heavily, moving if only slightly. Not thinking twice he aimed his right hand at the mole and chanted, "Wind Blast?" The Mole was launched as if from a cannon heading straight to the lamppost. *KLANG* *THUMP* -40 DMG -12 MANA Crippled affect applied, back right limb dislocated, movement speed cut by 25%. [670.6/800] Slamming into the lamppost, bending it and causing the girl to fall to the ground. "Aaaaah!" *Thud* -7 [93/100] Henry rushed over, his lungs burning and ribs creaking in protest. "Are you all right!?", he asked more concerned about her well being than his own. Seeing her pale face and tear-filled eyes, as she held her scraped knees. "No, I-I''m *sniff* alright... " Turning back to the Mole, it was screeching in pain as it dragged is leg behind it, shuffling its way towards the two. Grabbing the girl by the hand Henry pulled her to her feet while quickly asking, "Do you have any other spells?" "I have something called Flare, it says it blinds... probably wont work on a mole though..." Looking a little dejected, she seemed to have all but given up on beating the Mole. Henry said to her, "when I yell I want you to use it, okay?". A little surprised she quickly nodded and ran out of the way of the incoming Mole. The Mole having dragged itself closer during their conversation, was almost within reach of Henry. Gritting his teeth against the throbbing coming from his ribs, he raised his right arm towards the Mole and waited. The Mole now close enough to hit him, raised its claw to end his life, swinging at Henry''s head. He once again chanted the spell that was quickly becoming likened to the name of a lover on his lips, "Wind Blast". Wind whipped at his clothes and hair as it surged out from his hand slamming into the Mole, throwing it back towards the Lamppost with a fearful screech it collided with the base. *Sound of metal twisting* Enjoying the story? Show your support by reading it on the official site.-40 DMG -12 MANA [630.6/800] The Mole having been burned, electrocuted, thrown around like a toy and having shamed itself, had apparently been pushed beyond its limits as it was now mindlessly clawing its way towards Henry with nothing in its mind but the urge to tear this annoyance apart limb from limb. Clearly chasing after Henry albeit slowly, he scrunched his eyes closed and yelled, "NOW GIRL, CLOSE YOUR EYES!" Having been waiting for his yell, the girl covered her eyes with one hand and pushed the other out before her, "I CAST FLARE!" -84 MANA Blinded effect has been applied, can no longer see. The Mole having been exposed to the brightest thing it''s ever seen, stopped moving and tried to shield its eyes from the pain. Henry after opening his eyes, ran to the stunned Mole and placed his hand on its forehead, his eyes filled with certainty he passed judgement, "Static Touch!". 3 x (160/60) = 8 -8 DMG -8 MANA x 5 [590.6/800] Henry held it immobilized using short five second burst, while he yelled to the girl "GET TO THE LAMPPOST, USE THAT FIRE SPELL!". The girl looking between Henry and the lamppost quickly caught on to his plan, positioning herself behind the lamppost and waiting for her mana to regen, whilst he keeps it stunned. -8 DMG -8 MANA x 15 {470.6/800] Stopping the spell before he was completely drained as he was starting to feel dizzy and had a migraine behind his eyes, he looked over at the girl only to see her not having started. [OH CRAP IN A HAND BASKET DON''T TELL ME SHE''S OUT OF MANA!?] Looking back to the Mole Henry saw it beginning to regain its muscle control after being electrocuted, seeing it would be seconds before it started moving again, he decided to use the last of his mana to buy her a few more seconds. -8 DMG -8 MANA [462.6/800] Spending the last of his mana he collapsed, breathing heavily and unconscious. *****POV CHANGE***** Stephanie having been watching anxiously saw him fall, and couldn''t help but worry about him. She realized that the mole would soon be moving and would kill the kind young man who looks lifeless laying against the soft grass. Stealing a glance at her Mana [62.5/200], she waited only one second more before desperately yelling, "IGNITE!". Aiming not at the mole, but at the twisted and bent base of the lamppost, summoning all the heat around her to her will she forced it into the Iron weakening it and causing it to bend dramatically towards the Mole. In her desperation she pushed against the lamppost with all her might crying as the metal burned her hands, with one final push the iron gave and came crashing down on the confused and angry Mole, smashing its back and killing it instantly as it crushed its heart and shattered its spine. Hearing a soft chime but swiping the message away before reading it she ran to the young man, hoping he was alright. *****POV CHANGE***** Feeling something touching his face, and hearing a soft chime. He blinked away the tears and against his bodies numerous protests raised himself into a sitting position, seeing a blurry shape in front of him and ringing in his ears, he tried focusing on the thing before him.
The Guardian has Fallen
You have earned you''re freedom, pass through the final Gate.
Looking around he saw the dead Mole and surprisingly the worried and anxious looking face of the girl he still hadn''t learned the name of. Being as completely out of it as he was he couldn''t help but compare her to a sad puppy, which brought a stupid grin to his face and caused the worried girl to crush his ribs in relief. -5 DMG [34/100] She let go as he grunted in pain, saying "oh, I-I didn''t mean to, I''m soo sorry!". Taking his time to calm his hurting body, he looked over to see the light still draining from the lamppost. Looking to the girl he asked, "Look we need to get out of here, can you help me walk?", immediately the girl gently helped him stand and he leaned against her, using her as a crutch. The girls pace seemed to pick up as the light began to fade much quicker then before forcing Henry to struggle to keep up with her, as they passed through the gate, it slammed closed with the same metal spikes as the others. They walked for a long time through the dimly lit hedge row, with nothing but the sound of their ragged breathes and heavy footsteps. Henry decided he should know her name, considering that she helped him and all he wanted to thank her properly. "Um, I wanted to thank you for not leaving me to die to that Mole, but I don''t even know your name, can you to tell me?" Blushing slightly but as the hedges weren''t that well lit, it wen''t unnoticed, she replied. "M-my name''s St-steph, what''s your name?" her voice cracked slightly as she asked. "Henry, my name is Henry and thank you Steph, for being there." Henry said this as they turned a bend in the hedge rows, revealing an open space beyond the hedge''s. Looking at each other with relieved expressions hoping to finally be out of these damnable gardens, they hurried out of the opening, only to be met with the sight of a medieval city, closing up for the day as it was almost night time and a storm was coming. Standing there dumbfounded, they looked around at the people hurrying home not paying attention to the dirty and blood-stained people who came of the hedges, when cold drops of rain splattered against Henry and Steph. Coming to their senses they asked around for somewhere they could wait out the storm, but were met with. "You got any money?" and, "No money, means not my problem. Get lost street urchins!" With no where to go, but unwilling to log out somewhere unsafe they started walking between the stone buildings looking for a modicum of shelter from the weather in the alleyways. They found a small alcove between a large stone store and the towns surrounding wall which was 10 meters high, sitting down they both finally began to relax and ease their exhausted bodies. The storm was picking up and it was steadily getting colder as the night settled in, stray drops of rain flicked against the two tired people leaning against each other for warmth against the harsh weather. It wasn''t long before they fell asleep, snoring softly her head leaning against his left side, his arm having found its way around her keeping that precious warmth close. http://dreamon14.deviantart.com/art/Lamp-Post-146776526 OutRage: Total Realism - Ch 4 - A Time to Talk. A.N. a quick apology, sorry for not writing but I''m terribly lazy. Hmm anyway hope you enjoy. The high-pitched cries of the majestic Eagle-Frog, *BRUUUUUUUUUUU-KAAAAAW!* quickly rouses Henry who startled by the noise woke the small girl he is currently cradling against his left side. "Huh~?, waz goin'' on? ah? AH!?", Steph waking up cradled against him, confused and then deeply embarrassed that she had been drooling on him as she slept, blushing she backpedaled and stammered something about being sorry. Henry seeing her reaction couldn''t stop the laughter bubbling out of his throat, "HAHA URK!". This aggravated his cracked ribs he gingerly held them trying to calm his breathing as he recalled yesterdays fight. "Henry are you okay?!" Steph rushed over to him as he held his ribs with a grimace clouding over his face. "Y-yeah, looks like we need to see a Doctor." Looking over her he saw a few scrapes and his eyes immediately latched onto her burned and blistered hands. Using the wall of the alcove they rested in, Henry pushed himself to his feet and looked around, seeing puddles, their damp clothing and trails of sunlight peaking over the towns wall dispersing all traces of last nights storm. "Let''s go, time to find some help!" With that overly optimistic statement they began searching the town, asking people along the way for directions to a healer. They were getting no where as everyone they talked to said something along the lines of, "Buzz off" and one strange man wearing a baggy trench-coat and hooded face said, "Wanna buy some DeathStix?" after which he immediately tried getting closer to them but Steph elbowed Henry to get him to walk faster. The sun was high in the sky, it was almost midday when they decided to take a break and rest at a water fountain they found in the middle of a small market square. Sitting against the base of the fountain Henry closed his eyes and breathed as deeply as his ribs would allow, as the day had wore on he had been sweating profusely and had felt as if he was suffocating being unable to breath properly. Steph was cooling her blistered palms in the fountain letting out a small squeak at first then settling into a relaxed sigh. Looking again at Henry, she was worried about how short of breath he was, she decided that she would leave him here to rest and find some help. "Hey, Henry I''m going to go get some help, wait here okay?". Without waiting for an answer she got up and started to walk away getting about 30 meters away before suddenly collapsing onto her face. Henry heard a soft chime.

Making her way back over to Henry while avoiding the numerous stares of the people laughing at the fool who tripped over nothing she slumped down next to him, expecting him to laugh at her she stared at her sandals while hugging her knees. "I''m sorry, I''ve been slowing you down...". Looking at Henry she was sad to hear him say that but she wasn''t sure what to say to him. As she was pondering about this Henry just had an epiphany, [Shopkeepers wont be able to run away!]. With his sudden and new found insight he quickly stood and beckoned for Steph to follow as he made his way over to a bald man wearing something like a toga except green in colour standing behind a stall draped in various bolts of cloth and rugs piled on top of it. The bald man was loudly declaring "The finest rugs in all of Altrecia! The softest and highest quality silk this side of the continent!", while trying not to see the two bloodied teenagers hobbling in his direction he felt that he was in for a long day today. Henry came to a stop in front of the merchants stall, he was staring at the man trying to gain his attention, only to be met with him being blatantly ignored as he stared right through them as if they weren''t there. This novel''s true home is a different platform. Support the author by finding it there."Hey." ... "Hey!" ... The "Bald Prick" as Henry now saw him wasn''t even batting an eye at them, so because he was having trouble breathing he quickly coached Steph on how to get the guys attention using the ultimate method, one he swore he would never lower himself to but decided this prick deserved it. After a few seconds of Steph staring at Henry in abject horror, she then yielded to his plan. Gathering herself and taking a deep breath she began, "https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=seKaU-qQuts" ... After the first few minutes the bald pricks face had turned a deep red as held back from yelling at the loud annoying girl. ... They seemed to be drawing a crowd as people were gathering to see what the commotion was about, only to see a bald man who was obviously angry trying to conduct his business while a small brown haired girl wearing white clothes that are caked in dirt and singed around the edges was trying to get his attention. Some people who were wearing similar white clothes were standing about pale faced and holding their hand over their mouth, watching in terror and relief that they hadn''t warranted this kind of attack. ... Finally after almost a full hour, the merchant lost his temper. "WHAT THE F*CK DO YOU ANNOYING C*NT''S WANT!? HUH?! WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU TWO!?" Seeing that she could finally stop Steph sat down heavily and groaned, while Henry clasped his hand over his fist as he''d seen in kung fu movies and looked into the sky as he bowed saying, "Thank you, Annoying C*nt Shishou". With a barely visible tear in his eye Henry turned back to the Merchant, not being disrespectful towards such a patient man, "I''m very sorry for having to annoy you but you didn''t even recognize that we we''re right in front of you, so I had to use such a foul method, I sincerely apologize." "Hmmph, yeah whatever tell me what you want and leave already." "We would like to know where we could find someone to heal our wounds." "Head west through the plaza until you see a building with a big wrought iron fence surrounding it, you can''t miss it, it will be the one with all the explosions coming out of it." Thanking the kind and benevolent man they walked in the direction he indicated, behind them they could hear an audible sigh and hearing something about joining a monastery. Walking down the street taking the time to look at the buildings which were mostly made from stone, most if not all had a second floor with the first as a storefront or workshop. People milling around them they started to understand that life in this city is centralized around work, with little time for anything else as their clothes reflected that in being focused more on practicality over style, people like the rug merchant being the oddity. Henry and Steph walked for a while not seeing a wrought iron fence, and soon began to think they had gotten lost when; *BOOOOOM* Something very similar sounding to thunder echoing about the streets, looking around they saw smoke coming out of a house around the next bend. Hurrying over to see what happened they finally saw a large building that had three towers climbing up the side walls and rising above the roof, one of them currently on fire. Just after they arrived the fire was quickly put out, via a localized rain cloud drowning the fire before it could gain any real intensity. Looking over the building Henry saw a sign, which read.
