《New World》
Chapter 01- The Beginning
The school bell rang for the second time indicating the start of the second period. A single lone boy with bleached hair walked in through the school gates and enteted the school building at a leisurely pace. He ascended the staircase and went towards his classroom. Class had already started. He could hear his homeroom teacher talking about the basics of C++ programming.
''Another day to endure .'' He sighed dejectedly as he pushed open the door and entered the classroom.
The whole classroom went silent upon his entry. The clamor of the first period died down as all eyes were focused on him.
"Uwaah.. he really came to class."
"And here, I was finally expecting a peaceful day in class. Damn."
"David really should take a hike and go die in a ditch somewhere"
The boy in question, David , merely sighed and looked at his homeroom teacher Miss Webb. The young teacher only sighed and signalled for the class to quieten down and told him to take his seat. David sighed and walked towards the corner of the class to occupy his seat. He didn''t escape the piercing glares his classmates sent towards him.
''Why do I have to tolerate this shit. Stupid faggots.'' He thought to himself.
David didn''t have a single friend in his class. He would be an example of a person who woild fit the description of a social outcast and a loner. The problem had all started after a certain issue made him bleach his hair voluntarily. At first his classmates merely stared at him and didn''t pay him much attention but a few days later, he got himself falsely recognized as a delinquent when he punched the living daylights out of a classmate who was trying to hit on his little sister who was just 2 years below him. Naturally David got angry. Infact, Anybody would get angry. The faculty did not want any explanations and did not ask for any either. They simply gave him a 2 week suspension from school while the other party had it off easy as he was the grandson of the school director.
''This sucks. Everything here is so boring. Isnt there a better place we could be?'' This was the only thought circulating in his mind during the enire class.
He was now a 3rd year about to graduate and still nothing had changed. His sister had ended up joining his same school ignoring all his protests.
His sister Alice however was in a different league from him. Always surrounded by her friends and was the very symbol of a rose colored high school life. When in comparison, he stood out like a pebble in the sand. His sister had beautifully lustrous blonde hair and electric blue eyes and was an idol in their school.
David had his fair share of good looks and used to have lustrous black hair which he had now bleached over with a dull yellow shade. His electric blue eyes was the omly thing that he shared with his sister.
The school bell rang thrice snapping him back to reality. 3 periods had gone by and he had not even known. Nobody even bothered waking him up when periods ended.
''Serously?'' He thought. He thought of protesting but soon gave ip the thought.
"Hey you! David!" The math teacher Satoru called out with a disgusted look on his face. David had been making his way towards the cafeteria when he had been called out.
David responded with a blank expression.
He had been summoned by Miss Webb for some counselling or so smirked the fat math teacher.
He lethargically made his way towards the counselling room. In fact one could even say that he was looking forward to it. Miss Webb was one of the few people who knew his true personality and had often expressed her worry on how he was being treated by others and tried to intervene on many occasions but he simply dismissed the thought. He opened the office door and was greeted by the worried face of his homeroom teacher.
"David, please. I cant stand by much longer on seeing you being treated like this. I will explain it to th¡ª"she started but David cut her off saying " Do you really think it would bring about a change in their attitudes?". Dissapointment and frustration showed in his eyes and the young homeroom teacher immediately knew that she had taken the wrong approach on the matter.
Dabid sighed in exasperation while making his way towards the cafeteria.
''Well. That sucked. Majorly.'' He thought, cursing himself for storming out of the room.
He bought a drink carton and stood by the vending machine slowly sipping his drink. A group of students were approaching in his directoon. He looked closely and realized it was Alice and her friends. A warm feeling filled his heart as she and her group neared him. Their eyes met but she dismissed him with a shake of her head. David''s heart sank but he did not show it. The girls took their drinks and left throwing disgusted looks at him except for Alice who didnt show him any response. He sighed dejectedly and walked towards the classroom.
Halfway through the class he got bored of his classmates'' dirty looks and ditched for the rest of the day.
He enthusiastically made his way home. His Heaven. His only utopia in his stupid world.
He set his bag down in the living room and ficked through the channels. His family was a poor one since his mother had passed away after giving birth to Alice. His father was a drunk and wasted his life away after his mother''s death. The daily food could be bought as a result of pawning off his mom''s gold.

Alice always recieved the short end of the straw as she had been the object of his Dad''s wrath ever since his Mom passed away. The house was dirty but it held a lot of memories for the siblings as it reminded them of the times David had raised Alice on his own whis fending off his Dad''s drunken fits aimed at her.
He heard the doors open and saw Alice come in. On seeing him, Alice flew towards him with tears in her eyes and suddenly tackled him to the floor asking him the same question throughout.
"Why do you want me to ignore you at school??!"
It was the same every single day after school after she had enrolled. David stood up and pacified her. Alice in reality was as close to David as they could get. He could tell that it broke her heart to have her ignore him and diss him off when at school. David simply sighed and asked with a smile
"What do you want for dinner?"
Soon Alice got herself freshened up and helped lay out the table and started eating with David while biting into his food with a cute smile. It was a common practise in their family. The food would be laid out for three, but they would never eat together with their Dad. He would often come home late after drinking. It had been 13 years since his mother had passed away and their Dad still hadn''t gotten over his loss.
After a while , they had seated themselves at the couch to watch some movies. Alice as usual was sitting on his lap which she claimed as her ''special seat'' . David found it strange that she would say the same thing everytime but David as usual paid no mind and found himself playing with her hair allowing a slight smile to touch his lips. Suddenly their leisure time was interuppted by a violent knock on their front door. He told Alice to stay put and went to get the door.
There were 3 people standing outside the door. It was raining cats and dogs outside. The 2 people standing on either side of the small pudgy man seemed like bodyguards.
" Is Mr. Walker in?" The pudgy man asked in a suspicious tone.
"No. He isnt" came the immediate reply.
"I see. So is this his house? Are you David Walker?"
"Yes . Im David can I help you?"
"Good. Good. We''re taking the house. You see, your father borrowed a teensy amount of money from us and has been on the run and we want it back. Get to work boys!" said the small man snapping his fingers.
David''s heart sank in despair as he watched tge two brutes enter the house. A scream pierced the air as his little sister came running towards him frightened.
"Oho! This one seems good." The pudgy man exclaimed on seeing her. The two brutes were demolishing his house and he could do nothing but watch in despair as it all happened.
But the next words the midget said, jarred him back to his senses.
" This one looks like it could earn a little in a brothel" the loan shark said looking at Alice. Alice shuddered and clung to her brother when she felt his vile gaze on her body.
" That was the last fucking straw" shouted David and in front of the two brutes punched their employer in the jaw with such force that caused his eyeballs to roll around in their sockets. The pudgy midget could only look at him dumbfounded while the brat who was standing in front of jim spat curses on his face and started off running with his sister.
"AFTER THEMM!!!" the pig screamed.
David and alice had no difficulty evading their pursuers as they ducked between buildings and thickets. When they were sure that they had lost the duo chasing them, David sighed and walked to the nearby park hand in hand with a weeping Alice. He silently cursed his stupid father who was the cause of all this mess. He quietly hugged his sister who could do nothing more that cry into her brother''s arms
Suddenly a voice interuppted them.
"Having some trouble sweet children? "
A mysterious man clothed in a pinstriped tuxedo showed himself in front of them.
David was immediately on his guard and pushed Alice behind him. The frightened expression on their faces might have explained a lot about their current situation. The man noticed their fear and hate for the world and smiling widely, he said,
" Allow me ro grant your wish little children".
He held out his hand. Shadows merged to form the shape of a katana.
David just looked at him dumbfounded as he was pierced in the heart. He dropped limply and could hear Alice screaming and that too was silenced with the sound of a body dropping to the ground.
"Well try your best, sweet children." murmured the man as he melted into the shadows.
David woke up to the sound of his sister shaking him awake. He opened his eyes to see an unfamiliar scenery .
He nearly pissed his pants when a screaming winged beast flew overhead.
He looked at his crying sister and then at the vast plains and shouted
"WHERE THE FUCKING HELL ARE WE?????!!!"

Chapter 02- Adapting
[David PoV]
The world in front of me was no longer the same shitty world that i lived in. That tuxedo guy must have sent us here. I sincerely thank him in my mind.
I look at my surroundings carefully. The world seems to be a fantasy based one. I have only seen beasts and monsters roaming the regions. Alice clings to me in fright and stares up at me with puppy eyes. I calmly analyze the situation and explained it as well as I possibly could.
"Don''t worry Alice, if anything happens I will be sure to protect you. But first lets find ourselves a few weapons. "
Alice nods quickly in approval with my suggestion.
I go yowards the nearest tree and tap it lightly. It sounds rather firm. I break two branches and start happily whittling away at the wood tryinv to make a makeshift spear for protection. Suddenly something unexpected happens.
New Skill Obtained

I jump back and exclaim " What the fucking hell?!"
I seem to have worried Alice. She looks at me eyes full of worry and asks me " What''s wrong bro? Is it... a monster?" She is visibly shaken up. I decide not to worry her further and dismisses her saying yhat nothing was wrong.
Looks like she can''t see this notification huh? But wait.. if its like this , Then...
"Status window " i say to the air. Yes obviously the air. Theres nobody in front of me. Alices looks at me puzzled. Suddenly,

I hand one of the spears to Alice and tell her to guard my back while I move forward. Alice seems happy that she was finally being relied upon. I take this chance to look at Alice carefully and check if there were any levels floating above her.

I glance at Alice and explain the current situation to her. Disbelief flits across her face but she blushes and softly says "Status Window"
"Eek" she exclaims on seeing the window and looks at me.
I shrug and tell her. "Looks like this is the only way we can get stronger in this world. Survival of the fittest I guess. It seems we can form a party too. How about it?"
Alice nods furiously with a happy smile on her face.
I chuckle softly and send her an invite. I then bring up her status using Observe.

I turned to Alice with a grin , pointed at a nearby goblin and said
" Well. Atleast we know what to do. Such a simple world!! Hahaha.."

To be honest, there was one thing about ourselves that we could both agree upon. Both of us had broken skills.
"Fufufu Look at these broken skill stats. I think these are atleast twice the normal stats." Alice giggles.
"Twice? What happened to the rest?" I snorted unable to contain my laughter.
Both of us burst into laughter. Soon we come across a clearing and decide to make up camp.
"Oi. Al! Spread out the loot!"
Did I ever mention that we even have an inventory? Broken right?
We empty our inventories onto the soft grass. We seemed to have picked up a few copper coins and some rusty equipment along with some elastic string. We planned to get rid of all the japtem when i suddenly had a brainstorm. I handed Alice two iron daggers and told her to create a skill for herself. Nsmely Dual Mastery. I grab an iron long sword and move towards the edge of the clearing. I break off a few branches and started developing my fletching and started making arrows.

I whistle a merry tune to myself and mark a tree to develop my archery skill. Alice who had aqquired both Dagger Mastery and Dual Mastery skill was silently obseving me from behind.

Chapter 04-Boss Fight
Its about time we step ip our game David thought, on seeing a few level 25 kobolds crowding around something. I gave the signal to Alice who silently crept up on them. I nocked two arrows and activated my skill of Double Shot taking their attention from the..... whatever it was they were crowding about. Two Kobolds screamed in pain as the arrows stuck to their rumps. The kobolds turned their attentiontion towards me and
"Graaahhh!" The kobolds all screamed at me.
I stood still, calmly activating my Double Shot skill again and again , thereby weakening them as they stowly closed their distance. When they finally reached me and were about to reach me, I shouted"Now!" and jumped back.

All yhe loot consisted of japtem except for a certain item by the name of Soul shard which I could not observe, using my Observe skill.

It seemed that Alice too had recieved the same notification. So at the moment , we had been able to bring down only because of our inflated stats.
I made my way towards the thing they were huddling around. It was a person. I checked his pulse and on seeing that he was still alive, I turned to Alice but she had beat me to it.
"There are other people here?"
"So it seems." I smirked.
Alice pouted as I started to carry the man towards our camp.
"Dont be like that Al. We need all the information we can get about this world."
"Okay" she whispered looking down.
I chuckled and patted her head causing her to break out in smiles.
Kyaah!! My sister is just too cute!! I thought happily.
It was turning dark and we had taken turns in nursing the guy back to health. Alas, I still did not get my hands on the much awaited Heal skill.
I sighed as I left Alice with the guy and eent towards the woods to stock up on my arrows.
We had gone up nearly 6 levels with me at 16 and Alice at 15. My bow mastery had gone up to three, causing my stats to increase further.
When i got back, I saw the man grasping Alice''s hand while she was trying to feed him some soup we made from the bird I had shot down. Luckily for us , I had the Cook skill handy. Naturally I got angry on seeing some guy whom we barely knew grasping my sweet sister''s hand.
Thats it. This guy needs some punishment I thought as I went toward him and kicked him in the head and he went down again.
Alice just gaped at me in shock.

"Iyaa... Sorry about that. I got a bit carried away on seeing the face of my saviour. I never expected to meet people all the way out here. Seriously, I thought I really was a goner." He said smiling at us while wolfing down my UBS... short for Unidentified Bird Stew. Guess it wasn''t poisonous huh?.
By the way the man had introduced himself as Octavius to Alice. Not to me but to her.
Not that I give a shit I mused. On hearing that I was her brother he immediately hastened to turn his attention toward me.
I used Observe on him and was a bit surprised.
Name ; Octavius
Profession: Imperial Soldier

I was kinda expecting this but.. Oh well. Its not like anybody gives a shit.
"Please don''t stare at me too much like that Sir. I dont swing that way . "

From what I had heard from Octavius, there were 4 kingdoms in the continent. The Holy Kingdom Faust where he hailed from, The Mercenary kingdom of Thrysus, The Elf kingdom of Wyrdia and The Demi-human kingdom of Drasleyk. According to him, the strongest knights were around Level 30-40 while the adventurers had Ranks given to them by the Guilds.
We decided to make our way towards the Holy Kingdom Faust as it was the Kingdom closest to our current position.
For the next few days, Octavius simply spent his time at our camp while we were out hunting Kobolds. We had undoubtedly become sfronger.

According to Octavius, these were the stats of a person in the upper fifties. Alice had told me that since she had a larger amount of mana as compared to me, she had started to channel her mana to her blades which got her two skills. Mainly, Pinpoint precision and Assasination blade. It seems that the latter seems to have scared her a bit but... Oh well.
We soon reached the outskirts of the forest or so I was told. The last path was through a monster infested tunnel. I was a bit of a challenge but we made it almost all the way throught. Hell, we had even gained 3 levels during the fights. We could almost see the opening. I shouted with joy, but Octavius had other plans. He spotted a glowing rune and happily bounded towards it. I looked on in horror as he gleely pressed the rune. He obviously thought it to be a treasure chamber. Sure enough, he bounded towards the chest.
I could only look on in horror as I felt an impending sense of doom.
"Stop!!" I cried out but he paid me no heed as he continued to open the box. Suddenly the entire environment changed. I readied my bow when I was bombarded by a sudden notification.
You have entered the lair of the Kobold Lord
You may leave only after defeating the boss of the trap floor.
I turned my eyes back to Octavius but in horror, realized there was no escape for him. He was standing right in front of the Kobold Lord who wasted no time in sending him flying. Having more than half his HP drained, he was knocked out cold.
I warily used Observe on the Kobold Lord. My heart sank in despair on what I saw.
Kobold Lord
Level: 87
Ranking: A
Escape was impossible and I knew it. Alice had already started using Stealth . I used step to jump back as far as I could and started using Double Shot to deal ss much damage as I could. I only had about 50 arrows left. Alice would jump in from time to time when the monster closed in on me from time to time. The battle continued for half an hour and my bow mastery had reached Intermediate Lv 1.

My heart jumped with joy. Finally J had obtained a trump card. I went on to charge my last arrow with all my mana when I saw a shocking scream. My sister''s health had touched the red zone and was going down and I coul do nothing but watch.
Suddenly , out of the blue, a sword came flying and pierced the monster''s rump. Octavius screamed and charged in. In the split second that it loosened it''s grip on Alice, she melted back into the shadows with her variation of the Step skill. I heaved a sigh of relief when she escaped, but my relief was shortlived when the monster turned his full attention to Octavius and mercilessly crushed him. The sounds of the bones in his body breaking echoed thoughout the chamber. I could only look on in shock and anger as tthe first person I had met and been close to, in this world died before my eyes.
All my fury and resentment exploded, all directed towards the red, muscled, freak.
"YOU FUCKING PIECE OF SHIT!!!!" I screamed .
New curse skill obtained

Exploding Arrow activated without a hitch and the level 87 kobold''s head exploded.
I collapsed and Alice came rushing towards me as the scenery went back to normal. I hugged her tightly engraving her existence into myself and ensuring myself of her existence.

Chapter 05- Village sighting
[Narrator PoV]
The two siblings stood at the exit of the cave and gaped in surprise on seeing the sheer size of the Holy Kingdom of Faust.
"I think the best thing to do would be to head over to the nearest village and stock up on information and supplies." said Alice, looking up at David.
David let out a relieved sigh on seeing the Kingdom and readily agreed with her.
The two of them, being in dire health, decided to use Stealth to go towards the edge of the forest to avoid any enemies they would run into.
David knew that at their current situation, encountering even a level 10 goblin would end up spelling doom for both of them.
"Bro... I think its best that we hide our strength while we are in the kingdom. Remember how Octavius mentioned that even the strongest of knights were level 40 at the most?" Alice murmured as they sighted the village gate.
David gave her a blank look and asked stupidly
"Why should we do that?"
Alice looked at her brotger incredulously and realizing there was no saving him, sighed in exasperation and answered his stupid question "Because we would stand out too much... Duh!"
"Oh..." David muttered sheepishly.
Now I think I know why his Int and Wis were so low Aljce mused.
Soon they were nearing the village gates. The gatekeeper soon spotted them and called out to them.
"Halt! State your purpose before you enter"
David observed the guardsman
Name: Samuel Ral
Race: Human
Profession: Soldier
Level: 8
"We are¡ª" David opened his mouth to speak but Alice interuppted him.
"We are just travelling merchants who came here to sell our wares" she said pointing at their loot.
Alice shot him a warning look, telling him to bace for the next question. They were sure that the guard would ask for some kind of identification but,
"Oh! Travelling merchants, ah, Welcome to our humble village of Murel" replied the gatekeeper nonchalantly flicking his hand.
Eh?? Thats it? No identification? Is tjis country really okay? David thought while glancing back at the nonchalant gatekeeper.
"Well, wasnt that easy? " Alice murmured to him.
David only snorted in response.
"Well then, Lets go sell the loot !" David grinned
Both of them nearly emptied their inventories on the merchant''s counter.
The merchant looked through the items with a bored expression and said "10 silver for all this junk"
The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.David almost accepted the deal when his sister cut in again.
"10 silver? You must be joking! Come on brother, lets take these somewhere else"
David went silent. He had no bargainjng skills and he knew it. He slowly began to gather up the loot.
"Wait! Fine. I''ll give you 20 silver for all of it."
Alice dismissed him by tossing her hair. She looked him in the eye and said "35 silver and we have a deal"
"Tch!" The merchant clicked his tongue and reluctantly put 35 silver on the counter.
David silently vowed to let his sister handle all money related trades.
"Another reason why your Int and Wis are so low!" accused Alice and stuck her tongue out at him.
David just frowned and pinched her cheeks.
"Sowwy sowwy sowwy" she said drooping her face and rubbing her cheeks. David noticed that she had reverted back to the playful character that she had when they were living in their former world and it relieved him. David chuckled and asked a passing girl, directions to the nearest inn.
He gave her his best smile as a thank you and watched in puzzle as she ran away with her face red.
Slowly, the two of them made their way towards the Bear Shack which the girl had recommended.
They go in through the door and are immediately greeted.
"Welcome! Welcome! How can I help you? " A large built man enquired with an enigmatic grin on his face.
Uwaahhh.. it really is a Bear''s shack. The duo concluded.
"We would like a double room for... a week maybe?" said Alice.
"That''l be 2 silver missy!"guffawed the friendly patron.
"Okay. That sounds fine. We''ll take you up on that offer" replied David in a stern voice, looking at his sister to stop her from bargaining.
"Okay laddie! First room to the right. Galvin''s the name and gimme a call if ya need anything" he said with a cheery smile.
The duo crashed into their beds after discussing their plans for the next day. David constantly kept a lookout while his sister slept earning him a new skill.

Chapter 06- Adventure
Both the siblings awoke rather early because of Galvin yelling that it was Breakfast time. Naturally, they thought that breakfast at 7 was rather unusual but they soon found that it was the norm at the Bear Shack. Drowsily and reluctantly, they showered and got ready for their breakfast.
When they reached the table, they were greeted by Galvin''s grinning face. Their table had been already laid out for the. David could not believe his eyes when he saw the feast laid out for them. David loved the fact that it was mainly concentrated on protein. Alice was a bit disappointed with the meal as she thought it was a bit lacking in balance. David grinned at Galvin and started to dig into his food.
Smoked ham, Fried eggs, Bacon, a few loaves of bread and a whole pitcher of coffee had been set apart for them.
When Alice enquired about the heavy meal in front of her, Galvin merely laughed and said,
"Adventurers need their fill of energy". David nodded his head furiously in agreement. She could notice that her brother was already starting to warm up to the innkeeper. Alice had already that even though he had low stats for Int and Wis, his head was a beartrap when it came to battle. She remembered Octavius, the Imperial solier who had died trying to give her a chance to escape the clutches of the Kobold Lord. Although David appeared friendly with him, she had noticed that he was always thinking and reasoning on his own. One of the main reasons that she thought so was because of the fact that he had not bothered to invite the soldier to his party. She too thought it was pretty obvious that a lone soldier would be found so far out in the woods so far away from his kingdom. But still, she realized that it was okay to start trusting people other than David. David too seemed to have arrived at this conclusion too. Him opening up to Galvin was a simple sign of this.
Soon after breakfast, David and his sister were slowly making his way towards the Adventuring guild as they had planned . David paused for a while. We are going adventuring again and we might as well pick up some armor and supplies while we ''re in town. David sighed and looked through his wallet. They had close to 35 silvers on them at the moment. If my hunch is right, this is a RPG element based world, so they may have some of those... He thought.
After asking directions to a nearby villager, the duo made their way towards the Armory.
"Got any protective gear within 5 silver?" piped David.
"Depends kiddo. What do you do?"replied the shopkeeper who had introduced himself as Larme.
"Well I handle long distance fighting" he said, pointing to his bow and quiver, ".. and my sister handles the close combat."
he continued.
"Shouldn''t it be the other way around ? Well. Whatever" snorted Larme.
David winced and Alice gave him a look of sympathy.
"How about this huh? Its a Wolfhide ranger armor. Only 3 silvers, and for the missy, I have some chainmail for 4 silvers. How about you take a look at them eh? " The athletic shopkeeper grinned.
David used the Observe skill on both the sets of equipment before him.

David looked up at Larme with a satisfied expression and concluded the deal. Later, while donning the Wolfhide set, David noticed that his Status window had been updated.

David just gaped at his updated status window and thought to himself What in fucking hell just happened? Where did these stats come from?.
He confirmed similar changes with Alice''s Status window.
After leaving the shop, David instructed Alice to go to the guild and start up the registration process while he went to stock up on arrows.
He had bought a set of 70 iron arrows from Larme for about 1 silver, but David had other plans. He made his way to to Smithy to try his hand at smithing. Soon, after about half an hour of perspiration, he had finally aqquired it.
New Skill Obtained
Blacksmithing (Active, Beginner Lv 1)
You can now start making your own weapons. Classes of weapons usable increases with skill level.
Happy with finally having aqquired the skill, he could finally start making arrows on his own provided he had the ores.
He cheerfully made his way towards the Adventures Guild.
The Guild was a rather big place, about 3 stories high and probably the tallest building in the locality. He took a deep breath and stepped into the guild hall. It was huge, comparably, the size of a mall parking lot. The interiors were hustling with people. With the corner of his eye, he glimpsed his sister waving at him.
As he moved closer, he saw that his sister was talking to two other women, One of them being a receptioninst and the other being an unfamiliar face. He neared the counter and the fair faced receptionist with deep blue hair turned her attention towards him.
"Ah. You must be Master David. Pleased to make your aqquaintence. i am called Erin and I am one of the receptionists in the Guild. Please sign here and you can complete your registration" Erin smiled pleasantly while thrusting a paper toward him. He signed the sheet and was presented a copper colored chain. He looked around wihile putting the chain around his neck. he was then presented with a copper colored Guild Card. the receptionist then went on to explain the ranking system in the Guild.

Chapter 08- Stronghold
[David]
I descended the stairs and both the girls followed suit. The staircase opened up to a dimly lit passage way. On reaching wider grounds, we soon switched back to the simple battle formation we were following. Seeing the coast to be clear, Alice took out the job contract and showed it to us. The data had been updated indicated that the job had been initialized.
Job Contract
Objective: Kill 15 goblins inhabiting the outskirts of Murcel village
Goblins killed: 2/15 . Remaining kills till job completion: 13
It seemed that the two sentries outside had counted for kills implying that they had successfully encountered their targets. I slowly allowed a grim smile to touch my lips.
"Looks like we encountered the right group" Arianne worded my thoughts out loud. Alice nodded her head and silently we decided to move further down the passage way.
The passage suddenly opened into a wider room. Alice cautiously used Step to move to the edge of the passage and silently signalled that it was clear. I relaxed my grip on the bow and turned to Arianne. Relief was evident on her face.
We moved slowly and cautiously towards the clearance. My eyes widened at what I saw and I unexpectedly let out a sad sigh.
It was like a catacomb.
The were about 6 tunnels , each heading down it''s own path. I let out an exasperated growl.
"This ain''t gonna work out like this. We could end up deep inside the dungeon and maybe even get lost. We need to do something or the job is going to be invalid"
Both the girls seconded my opinion. I turned to Alice but she was staring at the tunnels without a clue as to how to proceed. I ransacked my brain to search for a way, exasperated, I checked my skill list and then it hit me like a bolt from the blue.
Of course ... There was always that option available. I''m such an idiot for not realizing the use of that skill earlier. I mused dejectedly. I let out a dry laugh causing both the girls to turn and look at me with expectant eyes.
"I got it. I found a way" I chuckled.
"Really?" both of them chorused.
"Yeah. I was dumb enough to forget about it." I said letting out a lazy smile.
I then activated my Detect skill. I had totally forgot about about the skill. I concentrated and could feel my consciousness expand towards the cavern entrances.
I opened my eyes and smirked " Well, whaddaya know?"
"What?" both of them asked with confused eyes.
I let out a low chuckle and said the least possible answer.
"It all leads to the same place." I said while walking towards the nearest entrance.
"Are you sure of this?" pressured Arianne
"Too damn well. Now get ready for battle", I said nocking an arrow.
"How many?" my sister whispered .
"Three " I answered.
We slowly and noiselessly advanced towards the passage. As predicted, the passage opened into a small clearance before leading further into the dungeon. Sure enough, there were 3 sentries patrolling the clearance. This made me even more suspicious as to the dungeon''s identity.
My hand instinctively crept towards the potions I had in my bagpack. I shuffled for a bit and slowly gave Alice the signal to advance.
" Can you do long range magic? Whats your level.?" I looked at Arianne.
" I can use some basic f-f-fire magic and my level is 6" she stammered.
I must have looked pretty amazed because I soon found her avoiding my sight.
This can''t be good , I thought . I almost clicked my tongue when I remembered that I had given Alice the signal to attack.
She was standing in the shadows next to the first goblin and was looking expectedly at me. I sighed and told Arianne, "Use your fire spell to eliminate the 3rd goblin, the one at the right."
She nodded her head and looked at me worriedly.
I had learned why she gave me that look , the day when I joined the guild. It seemed that Rangers were not very respected in society due to the fact that they stood at the backlines.
I sighed dismissing her look. What is this noob giving me that worried look for? I''m more worried about you, you know? Even those sentries are level 10. I looked back at my sister who was standing with her daggers poised.
I gave the attack signal and let my arrow loose. It seemed as though they had been talking- or growling- or grunting to each other or whatever the fuck it was. Surprise and shock dawned on their faces as they saw their friend go down. both of them turned towards us . The opened their mouths to shout and another one keeled over, with pitch black daggers sprouting from his chest. Slowly, the whole upper body save for the head had disintegrated . It must have been one of Alice''s new skills.
Unauthorized usage: this narrative is on Amazon without the author''s consent. Report any sightings.Well, most of her skills take up a lot of mana . I recalled.
I had recieved a new notification.
*ding*
You have levelled up your Bow mastery! ( Intermediate Lv 5)
New Skill: Mana Arrow
Mana Arrow
This skill allows you to condense an indefinite amount of mana to form powerful arrows
Ranged Damage: +200%
Deals extra 100% damage for every 100 mana. Mana cost gets lowered on levelling up.
Now this is pretty handy. I thought
I looked at the third one who I expected to be in flames by now. To my horror, I saw the goblin still alive and kicking. Arianne''s skill had not gone as smoothly as planned and she let out and audible gulp as the monster caught sight of her. It opened it''s mouth in a shrill scream which soon died down after the whole head disintegrated after a slight gurgle, from Alice''s daggers.
"Why couldn''t you kill it faster?" I hissed at her.
"Hiii- I-I''m sorry. I was-" Arianne started.
"Haah. Well. It was my fault too ,for asking a battle cleric to participate in the attack" I smiled for a bit but then I frowned.
That''s odd. How can a cleric use fire spells. Something''s fishy.
"Is something wrong?" Alice came up to us and asked worriedly.
"No, It''s nothing" I said calmly and Arianne nodded.
"By the way, I found some loot."Alice said with a grin as she came over.
"What did you get?" I asked and Arianne looked at her curiously.
She held up a vial filled with clear blue liquid. I took the vial and activated my Observe skill.
Small Mana Potion
A basic mana potion that helps refill mana.
Refills 20 mana
I sighed and looked at Arianne. "You must have lost a bit of mana for the attack right? Take it."
"But-" she started to protest but I cut her off saying. "Both of us have plenty of mana left. You are a healer. We need you to be at full potential". Alice nodded in agreement.
To be honest, it was Alice who needed it the most, as almost all her skills took more than 60 mana. Due to her inflated stats she probably had a good Mana regeneration but we couldn''t be cautious.
"Do you think any enemies are coming?" Arianne asked worriedly.
I activated my Detect skill. I couldn''t feel any thing.
I activated it again and again and then,
*ding*
You have levelled up you Detect skill. ( Beginner Lv 2)
Range : 200m
I opened my eyes in surprise and shock.
"No movement but definitely goblins" I hissed to the both of them.
"How many? " Arianne swallowed.
"Around 30"
"So I guess the goblins have made a stronghold here then." Alice muttered. "Where is it?"
"About 180 meters.straight ahead" I sighed.
" What do we do? I think we should retreat and tell the Guild about this" Arianne stammered.
" Nope! We march forward!" I grinned.
Haha! This is KingD here! Sorry about the small chapter again. I will try to lengthen the next chapter if possible but then I might be updating small chapters for the next few day. My travels have not ended. It''s like an excursion... Soo I guess you get me.

Chapter 09- Storming the Goblin Stronghold- Part 1
[Arianne]
"You can''t be serious!" I balked and looked at David.
He just turned and looked at me for the longest time with narrowed eyes and said with a laugh," Don''t worry about it. We''ll do the fightin, you do the healin."
I turned to Alice to help convince the idiot in front of me to turn back and go back to the guild but she had found a sudden interest in her daggers. David''s grin widened, indicating that he wouldn''t be turning back no matter what happened.
He was probably one of those guys who thought that they could easily kill monsters just because they were above the normal level. He was strong , but there was something about him... , no, the both of them that I found rather intriguing.
I know I lied about my level, but these guys aren''t normal. They could be atleast Gold ranked from what they have shown so far. I thought to myself while casting a suspicious look at their direction. Both of them were right now, consulting each other. Battle tactics maybe?
I sighed, drawing their attention and said "Well whatever you say. Let''s go. Just don''t make me fight"
I bit my lip and waited. David gave me a small smile and said " Well, off we go then."
*****
10 minutes later, we were still moving towards the stronghold.. The path was supposed to be straight, so why was it taking so long? . I was getting a bit irritated. I wanted to quickly get stronger and meet my saviour once again. It was only because of him that I was able to escape alive from the hellhole I was living in. Oh! I wish I could just see him once more and thank him for this second chance.
My life had been a living hell unit THAT person saved me. It was not like I had any feelings for him. No, nothing of the sort. I just wanted to thank him from the bottom of my heart for saving me . I looked towards the two siblings who had suddenly stopped.
"What''s wrong why did we stop?. " I asked curiously.
"Ssshhh!" Alice hissed and David covered my mouth while hugging me close as if he was hiding. I could feel my cheeks becoming warm.
I looked up at David . He caught my gaze and whispered, " We reached the stronghold. "
He let go of his hand and I slowly peeked towards the direction they were staring at. It was a dome like structure. More like a house in the shape of a dome. There were 4 guards . Two of them, standing on a lookout at either side of the entrance and two keeping a lookout from the roof. The two on the ground were obviously bored as they were strinking up conversations with each other.

"So, whats the plan?" David turned to his sister.
Alice was deep in thought for a moment and said." I''ll take care of the sentries on the ground with Step and Devil''s Assasin to kill them quickly. Dave , use Double shot and kill those two on the top. Arianne..."
She looked at Arianne and said" .. Just stay put"
Both of us nodded our heads in agreement to her plan. David immediately started nocking his arrows. He probably only about 30 arrows left in his quiver. He raised his bow and aimed at the sentries at the top.
Alice nodded her head and used Step to head towards the sentries on the ground. David released his arrows and calmly took out the sentries on top without even twitching an eyebrow. The two bodies dropped to the ground in front of the other two goblins. Shock registered on their faces but before they could do anything, they had stopped breathing and their heads slid noislessly from their shoulders.
To be honest, I couldn''t quite wrap my finger around what had happened right now. Sure , they killed the goblins but it was rather ... too quick. I widened my eyes in surprise.
Both the siblings ran back toward me and started discussing the next plan of action.
"What now?" David asked. "The front door?"
"Nope." Alice said, with a wry smile.
"The roof."
Yeah! I know I know. Too short. Sorry about that guys! I''m tryin my best so stop spamming my mail for longer chapters. I make the maximum time available to bring you these chapters. It''s just that I''m in the middle of travel and I get interuppted too often.
Please stick with me and don''t pressure me too much for the chapters. Btw I love your encouragement. Keep sending your mail, rate and review the story! :D :D

[Arianne]
I was healing the few scratches Alice had sustained from the dying goblin''s hands when,
*ding*
| You have levelled up Lesser Healing. (Active, Intermediate Lv 4) |
I dismissed the notification panel with a flick. Lesser Heal was one of her lower tier skills. Pretending to be a low level is such a drag. Now I can''t raise any stronger healing spells. I thought dejectedly.
I looked at David who was counting his arrows left and then at Alice who was inspecting the roof to check for an entrance. Their current plan of action was very risky considering the fact that they were all just Copper ranked.
Of course I had no doubt that the duo were strong.... but, Never mind. and I dismissed my train of thought.
Alice stood up straight and motioned to David from the roof of the building. David nodded and closed in on me.
"Wha-What?" I stammered dumbly as he came closer. He looked me in the eye for a while . I could feel my cheeks heat up under his strong gaze and nearly averted my eyes when his next question broke my train of thought.
"Got any skills for movement?"
"Eh? Ah! I mean No."
David thought for a while and whipped me around in his hands and when i opened my eyes I found myself in his arms staring up at him.
I could feel my whole face go hot as he used his skill to move towards his sister. He set me down on the roof and nodded at his sister.I had a feeling my face was still red from the experience. I gazed at David , there was something about him that attracted me to him.
No. It wasn''t his looks or smile. There was something about him that ... intrigued me. Like he was hiding something behind his cheeky smiles and crazy antics.
Alice squatted and whispered to us, "I found an entrance. It descends directly to a hall. There is a gathering of goblins inside , about 10." She then nodded at David who looked at her with narrowed eyes. Realizing there was no escape, he gave a lazy sigh.
This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.
"There''s no helping it then. You do realize me killing them will attract a lot of attention right? " David drawled.
"We''ll deal with it when that happens." his sister retorted.
"Act first. Talk later?. Now that''s more my style" he grinned.
I couldn''t keep up with the direction the conversation was going in. Helpless, I stared at Alice. She gave me a slight smile and said .
"David has a... rather .. er? Powerful skill? "
I stared at Alice suspiciously but made sure none of my feelings showed on my face. These siblings... they''re definitely hiding something.
I didn''t protest and just followed them as they descended the stairs. Curiously enough, it was David who had taken the lead.
He stopped when the group of goblins who were merrily chattering away, oblivious to our presence.
David nocked his arrow and concentrated his mana on the mana. The arrow slowly started to glow bright red. I got a really bad feeling .
Just before he released the skill, attracted their attraction and shouted with a wide grin " Boom Boom Mothafuckas!!"
An explosion rocked the entire dome. David had jumped on top of both of us to shield us from any falling debris.
The smoke and dust cleared and I peered at the now ruined hall. Goblin limbs and copper coins were scattered all throughout the hall. Alice went to work collecting the coins not reacting in the slightest to the smell of burning meat that now filled the while room.
I looked at David''s grinning face and went " What the flying fuck was that?". I gaped at him.
"A skill" he smirked . I got no more out of him. Now I''m sure of it. These two were definitely hiding something. I paused for a bit and sighed. Like I''m one to talk.
After collecting the coins, Alice made her way back to us. She split the loot between us . I got around 20 coppers.
I then paused as I looked at David who was concentrating.
"More enemies?" I asked nervously.
"Just one. The big boss makes an appearance" he said as seriously.as possible.
I gave out a small whimper. Alice merely nodded and looked at David.
"How do we go about with this?"
"Easy. We go,the DAVID way" he said with a feral grin
"Sounds cool"
Somehow, I didn''t like the sound of that.

Chapter 09- Storming the Goblin Stronghold- Part 3
Author note: After reviewing the poll I posted in the previous chapters, I have decided on the daily updated with short chapters.... Rejoice Heathens (Gyahahaha)
[Arianne]
"This is ridiculous! You two are crazy!" I said raising my voice.
"This is a boss level , elite monster we''re dealing with here. We can''t use that method to fight him you know. Hell, we dont even know what level he is." I was practically screaming now
I had ruined the pretty and delicate image I had painted.
Alice just frowned at me but was giving me a sympathetic look.
"What? Why''re you giving me that pitying look" I practically gave up at that point.
Alice giggled and pointed behind me.
It was David. He was readying his weapons and adjusting his equipment, completely oblivious to the conversation and simply whistled a merry tune.
I drooped my shoulders in deject while Alice laughed her ass off.
There''s no escape .I realized
David looked over at me and said with a worried look"You can go back if you want, you know"
"Yes, except that you would be leaving us to our fates... Aah, how cruel you are!" Alice sniffed, eyes shining with tears.
"Whaa¡ª?" I started, but the siblings continued further.
"Having a healer around would help with our situation" David added hopefully and loomed at me with hopeful eyes.
Somehow, I couldn''t turn him down with the way he was looking at me.
Aaarrgh!! It''s a psychological attack. It''s super effective!.
"Alright" I sighed weakly, fighting the urge to pat his head.
This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience.
David broke into smiles and Alice who had been pretending to cry, wiped away her fake tears and gave me a sly smile.
I''ve been set up!! I screamed mentally.
"Well, lets get this over with already." I sighed dejectedly as I waljed towards David.
David crept towards the throne room which was now in their sights and stopped in front of a large set of crudely shaped doors.
"He''s in here" , he whispered hoarsely hiding his nervousness. Alice and I nodded and took up our positions on either side of the doors. David took a few steps back and nocked his arrow.
The plan was simple. David would be our main fighting force. Alice and I would open the doors and David would release his Exploding Arrow skill against the goblin thereby immobilizing him while giving Alice the opening to rush him while I and David backed her up.
Alice nodded at me and showed us 3 fingers indicating a countdown. I acknowledged the signal nervously. Of course I was nervous. It was the first time I was going to face off with a boss level monster. I gulped audibly.
David took a deep breath and started his skill. The countdown was over and we threw the door open.
"SURPRISE MOTHAFUCKAA!!!" David shouted and released the arrow at the shadowy figure sitting on a crude throne.
Things went wrong almost immediately.

Chapter 09- Storming the Goblin Stronghold- Part 4
Author''s note: Yeah. I know. The titles getting repetitive. Last one from this title. Please dont complain about short chapters. Im doing daily ipdates so deal with it
[David]
Alice nodded at me and held up three fjngers indicating a countdown. Arianne acknowledged the signal nervously.
I nocked an arrow and activated my Exploding Arrow skill. I took a deep breath and started infusing my mana into it. I had only about 100 mana left so the element of surprise would be playing a major role in this battle.
The arrow started to glow bright red. I used my Detect skill to check for signs of movement. The enemy was unmoving and was right behind the door.
The countdown had hit zero and both the girls pushed open the doors with all their might and then ducked for cover.
The room was dark but I could make out the faint outline of a shadowy figure seated atop a mounted throne. Without hesitation, I released my arrow aimed at the stubby figure and yelled the first battle cry that came to my head.
"SURPRISE MOTHAFUCKAA!!"
Okay. I''ll admit. That was a bit vulgar. No. Scratch that. It was very vulgar. Alice wrinkled her nose in my direction and Arianne cringed slightly.
I was expecting a huge explosion but I stoppdd short on seeing what happened next. Before I knew it, I was gaping at him dumbfounded.
My arrow had been cancelled out by the opponent. It took a while for me to register the whole process but then I realized that he had released a similar skill to cancel mine.
"Well. That fucked up pretty badly."
Suddenly, the entire throne room was lit up as fire broke out in a line from either side of the doors, all the way to the throne. It seems that there was a small passage, as wide as a hand and had now been lit.
All of us turned to the boss level elite monster that had now risen from its throne and was presently glaring at us.
It was definitely pissed. The creature was a head taller than the normal goblins but what made it stand out the most was the fact that it was albino white... and disgustingly so, rather than the normal disgusting green.
If you stumble upon this tale on Amazon, it''s taken without the author''s consent. Report it.
I clicked my tongue in distaste and thought, Why can''t there be more RED in this world?? Disgusting green and white pigs!.
For some reason, I was addicted to the color Red. In fact, to an unpleasant degree.
I used Step to retreat towards the girls while eyeing the vile white creature. It didn''t move, but was still glaring at us.
"What is it''s level?" Alice whispered to me.
I used Observe on it. Soon a wjndow popped up in front of me.

"Ugh..."
"What''s wrong?" Arianne whispered nervously.
"It''s level 37"
She let out an audible gulp.
Alice looked at me and frowned
"Is there something else?"
"It''s a named monster" I sighed.
"So?"
I just stared at her with wide eyes. I guess people who hadn''t played MMORPGs wouldn''t know the threat posed by named monsters.
"Well... whats his name?" Alice asked.
I looked her straight in the eye and said with all seriousness .
"Turd the White"
I heard an angry snarl. It seems the goblin lord didn''t like being made fun of because he had unshouldered his pitch black bow with a nocked arrow aimed right at me.

Chapter 10- Goblin Lord
Author''s note: Finally. A new name. Btw, the fight is over now. This arc will conclude with two more chapters.
"Umm... What?" Arianne interjected.
"Wait, does that mean that you you can see my level?"
We scattered as we dodged Turd''s arrow.
"No. Not really. " I lied through my teeth. I used Observe a while ago but it seems that my skill hadn''t levelled up enough to see her level.
Since then, I had been using the skill on all nearby objects while on our way to the boss lair.
"Want me to check?" I called out to her while blocking arrows with my short sword..
"I''m good. I''m only level 6 anyway" she responded.
Alice took the oppurtunity of Turd being a ranger to rush in, flashing both her daggers.
Turd blocked one of the daggers with his bow while the other one penetrated his shoulder. He shook off Alice and fired multiple arrows at the same time.
Alice, slinked away in a hurry using Step and came back our position.
All the hairs on my neck stood up straight as I heard a loud cackle coming from Turd. He had a dangerous look on his face. I guess he was pretty mad at us.
Can''t exactly blame him now. I sighed mentally.
He started infusing mana into an arrow and shot it in a high arc. The arrow stopped midway and burst into a huge number of blue arrows. A sense of impending doom came upon me. It wasn''t possible to evade all of them.
It was impossible.
The arrows hovered in the air for a moment and then resumed it''s attack on us. Alice had a horrified look on her face.
Maybe it was because the opponent was a named monster.
Maybe it was because I had finished off the Kobold Lord before he could use his ultimate skill.
Whatever it was, it was the first time I felt fear encroach upon me. Alice and I would probably get away with serious injuries after getting hit by this attack from the front but ... It was Arianne I was worried about.
If her level was as low as she had claimed, she would die. No doubt.
I turned towards Arianne to atleast try and Shield her with my body but something caught my eye that caused me to stop dead in my tracks.
It was Arianne. Unlike Alice who was sweating profusely, Arianne was as cool as a cucumber.
"What the fuck are you standing there for? You''re the one I''m worried about the most. Alice and I could survive this onslaught but you can''t. Not with your Level" I shouted desperately.
Arianne stared at me , not giving a shit about the incoming arrows. She smirked and held up her hand and chanted.
"Fire that razes everything in my path. Be my shield! Flame Wall!".
I looked dumbfounded as a wall of fire erupted around us between us and the incoming arrows.
And not a moment too late. Just as the defensive spell was put up, i heard the sound of arrows embedding themselves onto it.

Arianne''s face was impassive and she looked at me and Alice who were gaping at her and let out a small sigh.
"I''m sorry but I was lying about my level.I''m probably higher than you guys. "
I knew you were lying ya know aaand the ''stronger than you guys'' part , I dont think so..
I nodded at Alice who nodded in confirmation and rushed the surprised Turd.
I used my Observe skill on all objects kn my line of sight and continued doing so until a familiar notification popped up.

You have levelled up Observe. (Active, Intermediate Lv 1)

I used Observe on her once again. This time however, I could see her level.

I let out a sigh and looked at her lazily. I drew my bow and withouth nocking an arrow, I pointed it at Turd. I infused all my mana, which was now full from my mana potions into a single Mana Arrow, the size of a bazooka.
Alice saw me and immediately jumped away from Turd, giving him a wide berth.
Seeing my chance, I released the arrow.
Arianne''s eyes widened as the Goblin Lord exploded on contact with my skill.
Seeing the imminent threat to be over, I told Alice to get the loot.
*ding*
I went up to Arianne who stepped back nervously.
I smiled widely, but my eyes weren''t smiling.
"So... What the fuck is a Helios Mage?" I drawled.

[Arianne]
What? What? What the hell just happened here? I know all of us weakened it but that thing probably had more than half it''s HP remaining and HE took it out with a single skill? . I couldn''t believe what I had just seen.
It was impossible unless he was at a much higher level. I faltered and asked him while chewing on my lower lip.
" What''s your level?"
A mischevious glint appeared in his eyes but they faded just as quickly and he frowned at me.
"Stop changing the subject Arianne. What the fuck is a Helios mage?"
I let out a small gasp as I heard the question again , realizing that it was not my imagination when he asked me the first time. In fact, there was no possibe way he would have known about it. It was even protected by my Skill Shroud skill.
Nobody had broken through it before. How on earth did he-? I started panicking and beads of sweat formed on my forehead as David cut in again.
"I''m waiting... and I''m not a patient guy you know." David added in a monotone.
I glanced at Alice. She remained silent, but it was obvious that she was siding with David in the argument. Moreover, she was holding all the loot from the Goblin Lord.
David noticed my gaze and sneered at me, "You want the loot? Sure, no problem. If you fess up, that is..." and he let his words hang in the air for a while. I looked around nervously. I had levelled up 4 times after the boss had been slain but deep down, I knew that I would never be able to escape them.
I sighed dejectedly and said in a defeated tone " It''s my Godly profession. My saviour Helios granted it to me when he brought me here... In simple terms, I''m a Saint. What? Whats with the look. Haven''t you heard of Saints before?"
David and his sister were both giving me stupified expressions for a while and then Alice breaks the silence," So you''re an otherworlder too?"
This time I was the one with the stupified expression. I knew the Gods had called on people from other worlds and there were a few Saints present right now but they were the first Saints that I ever met. To be honest, I never expected them to be Saints.
"Did your patron give you a name?"
"No. Not really. He just sent us here without a word. But Gods? Really? Its not like I dont believe you or anything but why do these Gods need us to help them?" David said with a worried expression. Alice nods her head to his question.
"Helios said something about a faction battle among themselves and something about not being able to intervene directly in the battles" I replied with an equally worried tone. " Haven''t you guys activated your professions yet.?"
"What? You activate them?" Alice asks me wide-eyed. I nod my head furiously in response. I see both of them conferencing for a while.
"okay. We believe you. How do we activate our professions?" said David.
Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.
"Just press the word Profession on your status window" I replied, trying to suppress my joy on learning that the imminent danger was now over. Alice looks over at her Status Window and makes a pleased gurgle but David just frowns.
[Alice]
I listened to Arianne and after talking with Dave for a while, I decide to try it out.
"Status Window!" I whispered

Congratulations
All your stats have been updated.
The stat bonuses from your new Profession : Holy Assasin, have been sucessfully assimilated.
|
I stopped staring at my brother and once again turned my attention towards my new and updated Status Window.
What I saw made my jaw drop. This difference was way too high. Nearly all my stats had hit an average of 700 altogether, in a single leap. It was too big of a jump for me to believe.
As usual, my Str was comparably low, it was in the late 500''s but it was still pretty high. My Int and Wis were in the mid 700''s but my Dex was starting to catch up fast. It was at the late 600''s. My Luck had hit 200, with my Vit at 470 and my Agi at 800.
I must have had a stupid expression on my face because Arianne was giggling nervously at me. David was still frowning at his Status Window. A moment of joy flashed on his face but it disappeared just as fast.
I turned to Arianne and asked her out of curiosity. "What''s the average number for your stats? "
She smirked and said, spreading out her melons like a peacock," They have hit the mid 300''s after killing the Goblin Lord. Before, they were at the mid 200''s"
.... What? That''s impossible. Then why the hell am I in the 700''s? There should only be a 20 level difference between us.
No, this is unreasonable. If just changing into your Godly profession would change your stats so much, doesn''t that mean, Arianne''s stats were much higher than us when we first met?
No. There''s something else going on here.
As I was pondering over these questions, I was once again bombarded by Notifications.

I just looked at the notifications that were popping up and looked over at my brother to see if it was the same for him.
He was wearing a complicated expression on his face.
"Is something wrong with your profession?" I asked David as innocently as I could.
"No. It''s nothing."
His face twitched before giving his answer in a monotone and with a wry smile plastered on his face. He paused for a while again.
"I''m a Holy Assasin for Signya" I said, indirectly indicating him to tell us his profession.
Arianne was now wearing a triumphant expression on her face and she shouted " I knew it!! You two are Saints too ! My inituition is never wrong." She said, pushi out her chest, much to my annoyance on seeing the size of those fruits.
She was now grinning, the previous nervousness and tension seemed to have disappeared completely.
How she gets her confidence... I don''t know.
The trap had been laid. We had managed to guilt trip my brother.
He gave us a forced smile and said " I''m a Holy Ranger for Signya." I furrowed my brows at his words.
[David]
I had Lied. I had lied right in their faces. If they find out I lied, they will definitely....
I just hoped Signya wasn''t mad at me for using her name.
Authors note : It has been decided. I need a laser surgery for my eye. I wont post for a while. But when I post, expect an extra large chapter. KingD out.

I allowed a wry smile to touch my lips on seeing the fruits of our hard labor. Alice had good a pair of boots that increased her Agi while Arianne had got a mantle which increased both her Int and her Wis.
I was still worried about my profession. To be honest, I had certain suspicions about Alice¡¯s profession but mine was a bit unexpected. I looked back and saw both of them cheerily talking to each other as they slowly made their way back to the Guild to report their findings.
I knew it wasn¡¯t good to lie outright about my profession. I just didn¡¯t want to reveal it in front of Arianne. No. Signya was not my patron
We were supposed to have been sent to this world by the same person but how on earth did we end up with different patrons?.
Because of the blessing from my patron and the bonuses that came along with my Profession, my stats had touched 900¡ well, mostly all. My Int and Wis were at the late 700¡¯s and my Luck had decreased a lot. It was now only 20.
Yep. Bonuses from my loving patron.
I sighed and glanced at Alice. I knew deep down that she, unlike Arianne, didn¡¯t believe about my profession for a single moment.
One of the forthcoming days, I would have to tell her the truth.
Thanatos¡ How the hell did my patron end up different? I thought, a bit scared about what her reaction would be.
.
.
.
We had about an hour walk till we reached the Guild, so we decided to take it slowly and get more acquainted with Arianne.
She seemed really touchy about the topic of her previous life but since we weren¡¯t ones to talk, we skipped the topic.
Arianne then insisted on knowing more about us and we finally relented much to her happiness.
¡°Did you have anyone you cared for, in your world?¡± she asked me, a slight blush coloring her cheeks.
I was a bit stumped by her question. I thought about the life we had and answered.
¡°Other than Alice? Not a soul¡±
Alice seemed to be pretty happy on hearing my reply.
¡°Do you have any regrets on leaving your world?¡± she asked us reproachfully.
¡°Not really.¡± Alice answered on my behalf too.
I couldn¡¯t help but realize that, during the job, Alice had quickly opened up to Arianne and were now something like friends.
We were having a bit of fun talking that we didn¡¯t actually notice that we had reached the Guild until I walked into one of it¡¯s walls, causing everyone, the girls included, to burst out laughing. I could feel my cheeks heat up from the embarrassment.
I stood up and dusted the dirt from my ass. I grimaced as I could still hear the two girls giggling behind me.
Slowly I pushed the door open and we made our way towards the reception in the middle of the Guild hall. Adventurers wearing all kinds of equipment were running around taking up jobs. I even caught sight of a Mithril class adventurer standing at the bulletin board looking for jobs that suited his ranking.
There was a counter free and we made our way towards the receptionist. She was a rather petite young lady with neck length deep blue hair. She was wearing the standard Guild uniform and had a blue coloured lapel over her chest which read: Trainee.
She soon caught sight of us making our way towards her and flashed me a warm smile.
¡°Hello Sir. I am Jeslie. What can I help you with today? Have you come to turn in your jobs?¡± She asked me with a pleasant smile.
¡°Yes. We did. We would also like to report a slight complication that came up regarding the job.¡±
Jeslie looked at me eagerly for a moment but it soon dropped on seeing the Copper badge I wore. I gave her a slight glare and my brows furrowed in annoyance. She caught my look and started to apologise but I stopped her with a gesture.
¡°As I was saying, There was a slight complication. The job description involved killing 15 goblins which we have completed¡± I said, pushing the contract Alice handed to me towards Jeslie.
¡°So what was the complication?¡± she asked me puzzled.
¡°It was a Stronghold¡± Arianne interrupted causing a small sigh to escape my lips.
The young receptionist looked at us with a baffled expression. The surrounding adventurers had gone silent on hearing those words.
¡°Way to go attracting attention¡¡± Alice muttered.
Arianne gave us a sheepish smile and mouthed a ¡®sorry¡¯ at us.
The receptionist suddenly became very flustered and started consulting her senior in the next counter. She took a deep breath and turned to us. She took out a pouch containing 30 gold coins and gave it to us as the reward.
¡°Thank you for your information Adventurers. We will immediately form a punitive force with a Mithril ranked adventurer leading them to take care of the situation.
The nearby adventurers, on hearing this started to murmur in excitement. But our reactions were different. A slight smile touched Alice¡¯s lips and Arianne started to giggle. I feigned a look of disinterest and controlled myself from giggling.
The receptionist looks at us with a confused expression. Alice holds up her hand and said
¡° No. We aren¡¯t making fun of you. It''s just that we already took care of the matter and killed the Goblin Lord. A stupefied expression crossed her face but it disappeared just as soon as an Iron rank adventurer interjected
¡° Yeah and I slew a Red dragon.¡± .
The whole guild hall burst into laughter. Honestly I couldn¡¯t consider which of the two were more unbelievable, Us killing a Goblin Lord or him killing a dragon. He might as well have made one of the stupidest comparisons ever.
Jeslie first acted surprised but then started glaring at us. I sighed in a defeated tone and a unshouldered my bow and handed it to her ,who looked at me with a puzzled expression.
¡°Appraise it¡± I said, raising my voice so the surrounding adventurers could hear us. I could hear the Trainee receptionist gulp audibly as all eyes turned towards us once again. Silence prevailed the hall as everyone awaited her verdict.
She started appraising it and her face changed, consumed by a medley of emotions. Shock, Fear, Amazement, Apology.
Jeslie stood up from her counter and with a very apologetic expression, bowed and apologised to us. ¡° I¡¯m deeply sorry for not believing you. This is an authentic Goblin artifact.¡±
Chaos erupted all throughout the hall. Disbelief ran on their faces.
¡°Now, how about you go slay that dragon of yours?¡± Alice sneered at the Iron ranked adventurer who had jeered at me earlier. His face paled in fright and I could hear Arianne giggling. I let out a small chuckle as I shouldered the bow once again.
As we were about to leave the guild, Jeslie called us back once more and said,
¡°Please leave your Guild card here so that we may update your rankings. The badge need not be given back. It will change color when you get back your Guild card. ¡°.
I smiled and pulled out my Copper colored Guild card. The girls too did the same. I collected their cards and gave it to the receptionist and we made our way out of the hall. Silence ensued and all eyes were on us till we left the hall.
When we came outside, Alice started laughing.
Puzzled, I looked at her. She wiped her tears and continued laughing till she noticed that I was staring at her.
¡°That was a bit too funny¡± she said giving me a big grin.
By this time, I noticed that the red haired Saint was fidgeting with a flushed face. I went up to her and asked with all seriousness.
¡°Do you have a fever or something?¡±
¡°...ty¡± she whispered inaudibly.
Alice looked at me with a puzzled expression.
¡°I¡¯m sorry, What?¡± I asked slowly.
¡°Party...¡± she whispered in a slight whisper.
¡°You want to celebrate? Sure!¡±
Alice looked at me with eyes of approval.
¡°No. Not that party¡ I want us to be a party when we take jobs from the Guild. All three of us.¡± She whispered , a bit more audibly. She was visibly flustered and her face was now bright red.
I looked over to Alice dumbly. She looked up at me with puppy eyes. I too was not much opposed to it as it would help to know about this world and what would happen to us in the future. I smiled at her and said.
¡°Sure, why not? How do we register?¡±
¡°We can do it at the Guild tomorrow¡±
¡°Sure thing. Can¡¯t wait.¡± I said with a smile.
An expression of joy crossed her face. She then excused herself and ran off to her lodgings with a wide grin plastered on her face.
I chuckled to myself as my sweet sister hugged me with a happy smile. We slowly made our way towards The Bear Shack, to get the rest that we deserved.

As we entered the parlor, Galvin greeted us with a wide smile and demanded that I tell him all about my adventures. I agreed , and told him that I would tell him, but only after dinner. Galvin seemed satisfied and he sent us up to our room with a grin.
¡°Aah¡ That felt good.¡± I said as I came out of the bath. Alice, who was lying on bed smirked at me and ran off to take her bath.
Soon , it was sunset and both of us were done resting up. I decided to take a look around and maybe even level up my Smithing once again.
Alice agreed and she went downstairs to help Galvin out with dinner, while I went on to train my skills and check out the city.
After roaming around tasting a few snacks, I went back to the familiar smithy.
¡°Welcome back~¡± a familiar voice greeted me. It was the Master Smith. Now most people, on hearing the term, Master Smith, might think of a bulky man with bulging muscles and a scarred face.
No. It was a woman in her mid twenties by my estimation. She greeted me with a beautiful smile. She had tanned skin but great curves that complimented her body while at the same time, emphasizing an athletic body.
Yep. She was sexy as hell and personally, I found it lucky to be taught by this charming lady.
¡°Yep. I¡¯m back Petra. I thought of getting a bit of practice with the anvil before I go back to sleep. Might as well make a few arrowheads to go with my Fletching.¡±
¡°Sounds like a plan~¡± Petra replied cheerily while guiding me to the forge.
I had spent around an hour working at the forge when I realized that it was about time for dinner.
I had levelled up my Smithing to Beginner Level 7 and had created around 500 arrowheads which I dumped in my inventory. I thanked Petra for her lessons and sped off to the Bear Shack.
I burst in through the door and looked around. Alice and Galvin were merrily chatting away while setting the table. Both of them caught sight of me entering the inn. Galvin waved at us cheerily while on the other hand was frowning at me.
¡°You¡¯re late brother.¡± Alice said.
I gave her an apologetic smile and Galvin rounded us up and the three of us started our dinner. The sound of Galvin guffawing from hearing our adventures could have been heard a mile away. A cheery and open innkeeper really did, lighten the mood. He had made an astonished face when he caught sight of my bow which I had told him to be the spoils of our victory.
Soon, our merry dinner session was over and we turned in for bed.
.
.
.
It was probably midnight. I woke up with a penetrating pain in my chest. I got up and looked around. There was nothing in sight. I paused for a moment realizing that it could have been knockback from one of my passive skills. Detect to be exact. It only meant one thing¡ There were malicious presences in the vicinity.
I grabbed my shortsword and went back to bed. Keeping my eyes closed. A slight *thud* resounded and I could hear some voices.
Intruder 1: ¡°Shush¡ you ass. They could wake up¡±
Intruder 2: ¡°Sorry, I slipped¡±
Intruder 3: ¡°Whatever¡ we just need to kill these two and grab the bow right?¡±
Intruder 2: ¡° That¡¯s what Sir Pyros said.¡±
Although I could hear everything, I was seeing all that was happening, with my Detect skill. To be honest, ever since it became Intermediate Level, it seemed more like echolocation as I could make out shapes and figures.
One of the intruders were closing in on me. Immediately, I jumped up and slit his throat sensing that he was in close range. Blood spurted everywhere. My shirt and face was probably covered in blood. Intruder 2 who had been following the first guy, tripped and fell, giving me an opening and I drove my sword into his brain.
The 3rd man was probably smarter. He was pointing a dagger at Alice¡¯s throat and gesturing at me to drop my sword. I grinned and complied. I threw my sword at his face causing it to get lodged in his face, hilt deep and he dropped like a sack of potatoes.
I tried to retrieve my sword but it broke off at the hilt. I sighed, realizing that my sword was no more. I looked around and confirmed there were no other presences. The room was a bloody mess. I was tired. I didn¡¯t give two shits about what was going to happen next. I just crashed back to sleep.
I was woken up in the morning by a loud scream and tears falling on my face. I opened my eyes and looked up in shock to see Alice crying .
¡°Why¡¯re you crying?¡± I asked nonchalantly.
¡°Because you died~~¡± Alice started bawling.
This was a cute but unexpected side of her.
¡°I died?¡± I asked her stupefied.
¡°Huh¡ Wait what?¡± Alice took a moment to focus her eyes and stared blankly at my face.
I realized what happened. I was still covered in blood from the 3 intruders.
¡°You idiot~~ and I thought you were actually smarter than me . Haha~¡±
¡°How can you be so carefree? They tried to kill you.¡±
¡°Not me¡ª, us¡±
Alice went silent. Hearing all the commotion, Galvin came running upstairs with a worried look on his face.
He looked into the room and on seeing the corpses and my body, caked with dried blood, exclaimed,
¡°What in the blazes happened here?!¡±
¡°Dunno, couple of people came inside and committed suicide¡± . I replied.
¡° ¡° WHAT?!¡± ¡°
I cringed from the sudden shout and said ¡° I¡¯m going to take a bath and wash all this filthy blood off me. They¡¯re adventurers, so just call up the Guild. They¡¯ll take care of it¡±
Galvin seemed to be in deep thought and finally nodded his head and said in a defeated tone.
¡°Breakfast¡¯s ready¡±
I chuckled as I made my way out of the room and towards the bath. When I was out of their sight, my emotions tumbled out.
Anger. Burning Anger. Rage. Wrath. Murder. Kill. Kill. Kill.
I started emitting bloodlust. Pyros, I don¡¯t know who the fucking hell you are, but I WILL rip your intestines out for trying to kill my sister.

________
It was now 8 in the morning. We had fixed the time for meeting with Arianne at 10 in the morning. I still had around 2 hours left. So I decided to introduce Alice to my teacher in Smithing. She too seemed a bit happy at my idea.
I decided on going to the Smithy as I still wanted to make another 100 arrowheads. I was now using Steel instead of Iron as I found out that it dealt better damage. But I wanted to try my hand at smithing something else too.
Soon we entered the smithy where we were greeted by Petra¡¯s smiling face.
¡°Welcome back David~~. Who¡¯s the girl? ¡° She thought for a while and did something rather unexpected.
She let out a gasp and while sniffing back her tears whimpered, ¡° Does this mean that I was just your fling? *sniff* You even said you would take responsibility for what you did to me..¡± and started bawling like a baby.
I look at her with a stupefied expression while I sense a mass of Killing intent directed at me.

Your Detect skill has levelled up. (Intermediate Lv 2)
|
I turn and look towards the source. I gulped.
Alice was giving me the death glare.
Petra suddenly burst out laughing on seeing our faces and cleared up the misunderstanding. This time, I was the one glaring at her. Soon Petra and Alice were chatting merrily away while I was working at the forges.
Not much later,

"She''s late... " I murmured.
"Yes she is..." came the immediate reply.
Right now, we were standing outside the guild, waiting for Arianne. It was 10 minutes past the meeting time . I look around and catch the glances of a few adventurers.
Some of them were checking out Alice. Heck, one of them was even trying to come forward and talk to her. I turn to him and send him a deadly glare. He and his company shrinks in fear and moves away quickly.
Alice noticed this and said,
"You don''t have to be so overprotective you know~" and pouted cutely. I couldn''t help but break out a small smile when I saw this.
After another 10 minutes~~
"I''m sorry for being late~" Arianne panted. It seems she had overslept. She gave us an apologetic smile, causing me to feel a bit red in the face.
"You were late by 20 minutes, well, whatever. Lets go get ourselves a new job contract." Alice sighed breaking the awkward silence.
"Ah-yes, yes. Let''s go. " Arianne exclaimed excitedly.
To be honest, I was excited too. We were forming an official party.
As we marched into the Guild hall, I could feel gazes on us¡ª on me, or to be exact, the bow on my back. It was a rather valuable one. I had wringed out of Petra, earlier in the morning about the different classifications of weapons.

Yes... my Elder Goblin Bow, being an heirloom wielded by Goblin Lords was naturally classified under the Ancient class. Currently, in the whole Guild, there were only 2 Ancient weapon holders¡ª including me. The other wielder was a Rune ranked adventurer.
We slowly made our way towards the reception and towards a very familiar Trainee.
"Sup? Done with the Guild Cards ?" I asked, flashing Jeslie a winning smile.
"Yes sir. I will bring them to you immediately" she replied flustered, and went towards a locker. After rummaging around for a bit, she brought us our Guild Cards.
Yep. We had been promoted. In fact, we had skipped a few ranks and were now Silver rank adventurers.
Arianne seemed ecstatic about the Rank up and wouldn''t stop grinning. Alice too was pretty happy about it. I gave a small chortle on seeing their happy faces.
Suddenly, Arianne came up to the petite beauty and asked excitedy. "Can you give us a Party registration form ?" On seeing her excitement, Jeslie gave a small giggle and handed us a small parchment and a quill.
"Just add a drop of your blood and name the Party and it will officially be registered. "
"A name?" Alice asked
"Well, yes. Every adventurer party needs a name. For instance one of the parties has the name ''Wyvern Slayers''"
"Wow. That''s ... fancy." Alice snorted. I silently facepalmed on hearing the name. Our cute redhead mage on the other hand was so excited on hearing the name, that her eyes began to sparkle.
Talk about a weird and fucked up naming sense.
"Alright~ " I interuppted. "You girls decide on a name while I check out a few things"
Both of them nodded happily and moved away to discuss a new name. When they were out of earshot, I turn to Jeslie and asked her,
"So, this party... Wyvern Slayers, *ahem* What is their rank? "
"It''s a mixed party of Platinum and Gold rank adventurers headed by a single Mithril ranked adventurer. So the overall rank is estimated to be Platinum." Jeslie replied, giving me a sweet smile.
"And... have they killed any Wyverns?" I asked dryly.
"Well. Yes. Normally it takes 10 Mithril ranked adventurers to subdue a Wyvern but 30 Gold and Platinum rankers can do the same thing."
"Wait. There are 30 people in the party? Just curious, but what''s the average level of a Mithril ranker?" I asked dumbly.
" It''s pretty high. Around 20 maybe?... Are you okay Sir?"
I must have looked pretty stupid if she had to ask me that question. I admit, I was pretty stupefied.
"Just asking... but what''s the average level of a Rune level adventurer?" I asked weakly.
"Well... they are usually above level 50¡ª" she started but I cut her off.
"Ok. That''s it... I''m done with this topic." I sighed heavily.
"Oh? Giving up already?" She asked giving me a playful smile.
I started laughing and said with tears in my eyes, "You wish~" causing her to frown in surprise at the unexpected response.
"David~~" a voice called out from behind me. I turn around and come face to face with a beaming redheaded beauty and a similarly hyped up blond beauty.
"Decide on a name?" I asked her.
"Mmm~" she replied happily.
"Well? Don''t keep me in the dark, tell me the name." I chuckled.
Both the girls exchanged glances and giggled befor saying,
""Wandering Souls""
"Wha¡ª?" I was so dumbfounded, I couldn''t even speak.
Wow... These girls have zero naming sense and what the heck is with that name? Does somebody here have Peter Pan syndrome?
I just sighed dejectedly and went with the flow. I filled out the parchment. Of course I was the leader. I mean... it obviously makes more sense if I''m the leader... right?
Thus, our Silver ranked Party was formed.
However, there was something I did not expect. A Mithril ranker had come over and was now facing me. Behind him stood an assortment of adventurers of different ranks, all glaring down at me.
The Mithril ranker broke the silence,
"Hello, my fellow adventurers. My name is Pyros and it''s my pleasure and honor to meet beautiful ladies like you."
Wow. Spoken like a real Ladykiller. Yes. It was plain fucking obvious. His introduction was not directed at me , but rather at the two beauties standing behind me. Alice frowned in distaste and Arianne glanced around nervously.
Judging by their reactions, they were not interested in Pyros, not in the slightest.
Wait... Pyros. Oh, now I remember. Oho~
"Why don''t you join my party? It''s a pretty high ranked one." he said, grinning from ear to ear.
I snorted and he glared at me.
"I''m sorry Kyros, but these girls are in a party with me." I interject.
"It''s Pyros, you damned commoner!"
"Sure Lyros~~. Now if there''s nothing else, we would like to pick out a job and leave already" I said menacingly.
"Tch. " Pyros clicked his tongue in distaste and went away giving me one last glare. Something told me he wasn''t done yet. Best to leave before he returned.
.
.
.
Half an hour later, the ''Wandering Souls'' were on their first mission. It was a bounty mission. We were supposed to rout out a group of bandits, about 15 of them and bring back the leader, dead or alive. However, since this was a bounty mission, instead of reporting back to the Guild, we would have to turn it in at the nearest Guard booth.
We were now delving deeper and deeper into the Northern forest, killing off any random monster that happened to cross our paths.
"Say, David... I was wondering, what are your real levels?" Arianne asked me, trying to make conversation.
I chewed my lip as I pondered the question. Well she would be working with us for quite a while so... I guess it would be better to be truthful once in a while. I looked over at Alice who nodded her head affirmatively.
I shrugged and scratching the back of my head, I said,
"I''m 56 and Alice is 54"
Arianne stopped in her tracks and stared at us with her mouth agape as if trying to process what she had just heard.
"What? How? When?¡ª" and assaulted us with a flurry of questions. I just ignored her outright and let Alice deal with her.
My Detect soon sensed multiple enemies in front of us. I did a head count. There were exactly 15 of them with the most powerful seeming one being a massive guy with a battleaxe while the others were equipped with swords and bows. I held up my hand, signalling them to remain silent. They huddled close to me and I explained the situation to them.
We slowly planned our ambush against them. It was the usial plan but this time, I was to be the diversion . I slowly entered the clearing. There was no doubt, these were the bandits we were searching for. All of them had a black skull tattoo on their arms .
Bandit 1: "Aaah? Who the fuck are you?"
"I''m just an adventurer." I said as bluntly as I could.
Bandit 2:"Haha! A puny adventurer dares come into the terriitory of us Black Skull bandits? You must have a death wish boy"
The surrounding bandits started laughing.
Wow... that was so third rate, it feels like I''m in a manga or something.
The chief like person stepped forward with a grin and said "We could let you go... but you should leave all your valuables here else I wont be able to guarantee your life."
I snorted in response.
A vein bulged on his forehead and he screamed,
"Get him boys!!" And all the bandits charged me.
.
.
.
After a while, I and my sister were standing over the corpse of the bandits, leaving only the Bandit Chief alive. Alice''s face was covered in blood while I was relatively clean.
How she was able to kill without throwing up, I don''t know. It could be because of her Patron. Not that I was any different. Arianne soon hurried over to heal us . She was pale and was slightly heaving, indicating that she had been throwing up.
I looked at her and asked, " Changed your mind about partying with us?"
She looked at me for a second and then hardened her face with resolve and deftly said, "Nope. I just need to get used to this."
I smiled at her words and tied up the remaining bandit while she went off to heal Alice.
Soon we were hauling his sorry ass to the Imperial Guard Office.
We were welcomed with surprised faces and soon the bounty was settled.
As I was recieving the reward from the Officer in charge, I asked him,
"Do you by any chance, know an Imperial soldier by the name of Octavius?"
The officer gasped and asked me urgently, shaking me by the shoulder, " Do you know about his whereabouts? Where is he? "
I averted my gaze and said softly" I''m sorry but he''s dead."
"Oh..." he sighed dejectedly and his shoulders slumped visibly.
I brought out the locket I took from his body and gave it to him. He gave me an understanding look and went back to his post. Hopefully, the locket would reach his family.
We went back to the Guild and turned in our Job Contract. This time, it wasn''t Jeslie, but rather Erin who greeted us. She updated our Guild Cards and gave it back to us.

Soon, we parted ways and were walking towards the Bear Shack when I felt a foreboding chill run down my spine. My Detect skill had activated. The enemy numbered only one.
"Alice. You go back before me. I need to take care of a few tbings." I said with a dry smile.
"Uhn~~" she nodded happily and raced towards the inn.
I watched as her figure slowly receded from my vision.
"I know you''re there so stop hiding and come out now."
"As expected of a rising star I guess" (???). I couldn''t see his face, but I could ascertain one thing. He was a Platinum.
"What do you want?"
"Oh. I dont want anything but it seems that our boss has taken a bit of a liking to your weapon" (???).
"Oh? This baby? " I asked innocently, slowly cuddling my bow.
"Today. Midnight. Meet us at the docks. The boss is even willing to buy the weapon off you" he snorted.
"Okay... I dont want to get hurt by your ferocious boss" I said with a small smile as I turned around and headed towards the inn, leaving the man frowning.
.
.
.
As always Galvin was extravagant with his meals. After a hearty conversation we were back in our room. I was fiddling with my Defender when Alice suddenly faced me with a serious expression.
"What is it?"
" Brother, You''re hiding something aren''t you?"
"Nope. I''m not"
"You''re lying. I know it ."
"I have no idea what you''re talking about." I muttered.
" I don''t think you know this, but whenever you lie, your brow twitches."
I was speechless for a minute.
"Nope. Still not lying".
She then pulled the dirtiest trick in the book on me.
"I hate you brother! Why do you keep hiding things from me? You''re horrible! I hate you. " and started crying.
I scratched my head awkwardly and sighed.
"Okay... I get it. Here you go. Just dont hate me." I sighed as I showed her my Status Window.
A mix of emotions flooded her face as I showed her my Status Window.

"Why is your Int suddenly so high? And what''s with these stats? Is this normal? And why do we have different Patrons " she asked wide-eyed.
"To be honest... I dont know. I dont know anything"
"Why did you hide this?" She asked softly .
" I don''t know... I was just scared I guess" I replied in a shaky voice.
"There''s nothing to be scared of, you know... I''ll be there to support you even if the whole world turns your enemy." She said, embracing me in her soft arms.
"Well, let''s sleep now." I said, smiling weakly. Alice nooded and jumped jnto her bed. I turned out the lights and called out my skill list softly.

I was curious about these new Profession based skills, so I checked them out , one by one.
| Dark Dimension
Creates a pitch black void space where only the creator can see. Victims are unable to see. All wounds inflicted will regenerate automatically making it ideal for torture and interrogations. In this dimension, every second in Real time will be equivalent to 2 hours in the void.
|
I smiled dryly and opened my next skill window.
| Devour
This skill bestowed upon you by Thanatos enables you to devour the souls of higher levelled opponents and gain the stat difference.
|
Sweet... I thought, while giggling inwardly.
| Bloodlust
This skill allows you to project your killing spirit causing people lower levelled than you to get overwhelmed from your presence.
|
I still didn''t get why my Curse of Wrath skill wasn''t showing up in my skill list. Was it a temporary thing?
I looked at Alice''s bed to see her sleeping soundly. I checked the clock on the wall. It was nearing midnight. Clocks here weren''t accurate. It only showed the hour and not the minutes.
It was about time for my appointment with a certain death seeker.
I opened a window and jumped out, landing as softly as I could. It was pitch dark outside, with the moon being my only source of light. I slowly checked my arrows, belted my defender and slowly made my way towards the docks.
I had activated Detect. I was now at the docks. There were only 5 enemies. I moved to the centre of the docks and called out,
"I know you''re here, why don''t you come out instead of wasting my time?"
I heard a chuckle and a familiar voice spoke up.
"Should I say.... As expected of the person who took down the Goblin Lord?"
A lanter was lit and my vision cleared. All 5 of them were adventurers and the person leading them was none other than Pyros.
"Well... what do you want?" I asked feigning ignorance.
"We want your bow boy!" One of the adventurers scoffed.
" Nope." I replied, causing the adventurer to swear.
"Now. Now. Lets not fight. I''ll even buy it from you for 100 gold. Sound good?" Pyros said, stepping in front of him.
"An Ancient class weapon for 100 gold? How about... No?" I snorted.
"What?! Ancient class? Oho... Change of plans boys, We''re killing him and taking the bow." Pyros snarled.
All four adventurers grinned and stepped forward.
Picking a fight with me eh? Big mistake. I smiled widely and nocked an arrow and fired it while using Step.
One of the adventurers fell down from my first arrow and the others circled me, now wary of my mobility skill.
"You look like a tough cookie, but don''t worry... after I kill you, I''ll be sure to take real good care of your two friends" Pyros chuckled.
I could feel my blood boiling and found it as the perfect time to test my new skill.
I activated Bloodlust and 2 of the adventurers fell down, unable to bear my bloodlust. The last one was trembling in fear. It seemed that my current Bloodlust had a rather small range.
I threw my defender at the trembling warrior and it impaled him in the head. I used Step move towards him and retrieved my defender which came out of his head with a *shlick* sound. In fact, it was rather disgusting, as there were now pieces of gray matter sticking to my defender. I move towards the next adventurer in a flash and drove it through his eye causing him to scream , which I silenced after impaling him a few more times.
The last one was now running away while screaming like a baby. I calmly nocked an arrow and shot him in the neck and he fell down immediately, with his vocal cords destroyed, unable to make a sound and simply gurgled blood till he died slowly and painfully.
I turned towards my last opponent. The famed Mithril ranker, Pyros. He was lying on the floor and trying to crawl away, while looking at me with terrified eyes. I slowly moved towards him and he finally entered the range of my Bloodlust skill.
He had soiled his pants in fear. The sight was hilarious causing me to laugh loudly.
"NOOO!! GO AWAY!! DONT COME ANY CLOSER! MONSTER!!!"
I leaned forward and whispered in his ears " Nobody tries to kill my sister when I''m alive. But because you tried to kill my sweet sister, I''ll give you the most exciting experience ever."
I looked at him and gave him a sadistic smile and whispered in his ear,
"Dark Dimension"

[Narrator PoV]
It was dark everywhere. There was no sign of any of the heavenly bodies. No sun. No moon. No stars. It was as if Darkness had encroached upon the whole world.
A slight groan permeated the dark space. At the centre of the dark space, there was a young man with an androgynous face strepped to a chair. His sickly face showed that he had been unconscious till now and had only regained consciousness.
"Wh-Where am I?" he whispered.
A pale blond guy stepped out in front of him and chuckled at him.
"How do you like this place Pyros? " he asked the youth.
"Wh-where am I? What did you do to me? What happened to my eyes?" Panic started to creep into his voice .
David merely chuckled at him and brandished his defender. He leaned towards Pyros and whispered in his ear,
"Are you ready to suffer for giving in to your greed?"
"No, wait... please, Noooooo!!"
Pyros screamed in agony as David stabbed him in the thigh. He gave out a sadistic grin and asked,
"I thought you were Mithril ranked, you loser~" and brought down the defender onto his other thigh.
Piercing shrieks permeated the datk space, one after the other as he stabbed Pyros all over the body.
"You really think I allow people to lust after my sister?" David moved the blade towards the upper regions of his thighs , lightly touching his skin so that he could feel where the defender was currently hovering over.
"No, please. I''m sorry. Please. I promise I won''t do anything to your sister ... so please" he whimpered.
David let out an evil laugh and said softly, " No way in fucking hell" and brought his blade down on his groin, twisting it about, inflicting as much pain as possible.
Pyros let out an unearthly scream as David slowly pulled out his blade, giggling to himself with a sadistic grin plastered on his face.
He let Dark Dimension work it''s magic as he watched the adventurer get healed. Pyros pleaded relentlessly but David just cut his stomach open and pulled his intestines out as Pyros screamed in pain. He watched with a slight smile on seeing the potency of his skill. Pyros'' intestines had started regenerating themselves.
David looked at him devilishly and gave out a psychotic smile.
.
.
.
...
60 hours had passed inside his space. Guts, organs and blood lay splattered all over the floor. Pyros had a dead expression on his face, all the light had disappeared from his eyes and all he was merely a husk of his former self.
Satisfied, David dispelled his skill. The scenery went back to normal. 30 seconds had passed in real time. He looked over at Pyros and said, " I''ll release you now" .
Light started to gather into his face as he heard David''s words. He struggled to his feet and staggered towards his tormentor with a hopeful expression in his face.
"R-Re-Really?" He choked.
"Yes~" replied David as he cut the adventurer''s head off.
He looked down at his hands which were now dyed red with blood. Fascination showed in his eyes as he admired the beautiful color that adorned his hands.

Next morning~~
Alice woke up early, as usual and saw her brother sleeping in as usual. She took a quick bath and went down to help Galvin with their breakfast. In about half an hour, breakfast was ready but, Davjd was still sleeping in.
He must be exhausted, she mused
[David]
I woke up a bit late to see Alice who was poking my face with her finger. We had a quick dinner with Galvin before rushing out to the Guild.
It was utter chaos everywhere. Arianne who had managed to join us by at the hall, explained to us what the commotion was all about. It seemed that the Mithril ranked adventurer who had invited them to his party had been killed. A lot of his party members had been killed too.
I wonder who did that, I thought, amused by the racket I had kicked up.
"It doesn''t concern us. Lets go pick out a job and make some money" I said dryly.
Alice shrugged and Arianne ran over to the Bulletin to get us a new job.
.
.
.
....
3 months passed in the blink of an eye.
"Yay~ I can''t beleive we''re finally Adamant rankers." Arianne exclaimed, flashing us a wide smile. She statted jumping with joy and I couldn''t help but watch as her melons wobbled like jelly each time she jumped.
In these 3 months, I had already passed the Level 60 mark and was about to hit Level 70. Alice had just broken through Level 60 however. It seems that my Profession allowed me to grow faster rather quickly when compared to the others.
We had just recieved our Guild Cards from Erin and were now objects of respect for everyone in the Guild. It was the first time anybody had jumped ranks in such a short period of time.
A gong sounded in the distance. It repeated about 16 times followed by a loud trumpet. It came from the Holy Palace.
"Is there something going on right now?" I turned and asked Erin.
She grinned at us and said, " It''s about time for the Saints to gather in the Palace."
On hearing this, both the girls in my party became visibly excited. I too was excited, but for some reason, I had a really bad feeling.
One I couldn''t shake off, no matter how much I tried.

Weapon Descriptions
This is a chapter (or not) to give you an insight on the weapons the trio are using. I dknt know if I have omitted this but our bubbly girl, Arianne, uses a staff too.
Most of the illustrations are Final Fantasy illustrations. Wait, scratch that. All of them are Final Fantasy weapons. It just so happens that Final Fantasy had the weapons I thought about.
Onto the main point.
Our psychotic MC David''s weapons.
Elder Goblin Shieldbow
Class: Ancient
Well. The weapon seems too large right? In reality, No. Just cut down the size , and make the bow about 3 ft long. Drop the spiky protruding decorations too. The weapons bulk is to ensure that it lives up to its name.
Defender/ Bloodedge Defender
Fancy? I know. Just drop the fancy decor near the crossguard and there you have it. Bloodedge just turns the dagger red, and gives it a bloody aura.

Alice
Dual Steel Daggers/ Assasination Blades
Just paint dose babies Steel maties!! Heck, The girl looks like Alice too. Almost. Just give her long blond hair aaaanddd.... DONE!!
Arianne''s staff
No you guys. It aint favoritism or shit. Hell, I like Arianne better than Alice too. Somewhat. Probably... meh. Not really.
If a red haired beauty with perky boobs and a taut ass, in a mage outfit holding this staff doesnt turn you on, You sir, are impotent.
I would absolutely love to stay and chat, but unfortunately, Im working on the next chapter now. Expect it by Thursday or Friday. Had a late start because I''m still wearing my Dark Glasses.
Dont forget to R&R the fiction and give me your opinions about my choice of weapons if you want... Meh. I''m off to sleep.
Chapter 16- Saint
Author''s Note: Yeah. So this time, the chapter is about 1.7k words long. Yeah. Sounds good to me...
Many thanks to my Editor and Proofreader, Jacob Abraham.
Chapter 16 - Saint.
[David]
"Wait... so, the existence of Saints are common knowledge? " I asked the azure haired receptionist.
She looks at me with a dumb face and rolled her eyes playfully,
"Well, duh. Why else would we be hosting the examination?"
"What examination?" Alice interrupts while Arianne just looks on, trying to digest the conversation.
"The Saint Examination of course~" she explained with a smile.
There''s a fucking examination for this shit? I smirked mentally.
"What kind of people are the Saints?" Alice prodded further.
" Well, most of them are usually Otherworlders, but some of them are people like us. They could even be people from another race too, be it elven or beastman.
We conduct the tests starting tomorrow, in the Guild Hall itself. Sometimes the Gods personally choose their otherworldly heroes. There are currently two God factions, The Zeus faction and the Odin faction. Only 8 Saints can be selected at a time to serve their respective factions." Erin added with a slight grin.
"What exactly are the Saints made to do?" Arianne asked excitedly.
On hearing her question, the azure haired beauty drooped her shoulders and replied with less enthusiasm as previously displayed... much less.
"To be honest, I''m not sure of it myself."
"So, why do you respect them other than for the fact that they represent the Godly factions?" I piped in, flashing her a friendly smile.
She blushed slightly, but I didn''t miss the slight red flush on her face which caused me to chuckle inwardly.
"W-Well, its because they have a lot of power and help us out when we need their help." she said, averting her gaze.
Looks like this is the best I could wring out of her. Tch. Useless . I need much more information about this whole system if I want to protect her.
I gave her a full smile and thanked her for the information and went towards the exit. It was evening and I was a bit tired too.
Before we were about to part ways, Arianne tugged on my shirt and asked in a small voice, and with a red face,
" Do you always flirt with people like before? "
Oho....
"What flirting?" I asked innocently. An expression of surprise flitted across her face and she replied in a hurried tone,
"N-no its n-nothing !" She said with her face going beet red and ran off to her lodgings.
Alice who was standjng beside me just sighed and nudged me, giving me a playful wink.
"Brother is such a player~"
I sighed lazily and we went back to the Bear Shack.
.
.
.
...
We had a pretty light dinner and soon we were in our room as usual.
"What are you planning to do about the examination?" Alice asked me in a worried tone.
I thought for a while and answered,
"To be honest, I would absolutely LOVE to skip out on the examination but it seems that all adventurers associated with the Guild have to take it. Skipping out would make us stand out a lot.
Besides, there''s the problem about Arianne. She knows that we''re Saints. She''ll definitely know something''s wrong."
I let my words remain in the air before starting again,
"Of course, there is a chance that Thanatos too is in the Zeus faction and I have a weird feeling regarding the fact why saints are called on by the Gods..." I said darkly.
"I agree with you about that, brother." Alice replied grimly.
"Well, enough with the anti-social shit, lets get some shut eye while we can. We''re gonna be declaring our existences to the world tomorrow." I laughed good naturedly and turned out the lights.
After a while, I heard some shuffling and a voice whispered to me, " Brother, is it okay if I sleep with you tonight?"
I simply smiled and moved to a side and gave her some space. Soon she was asleep, hugging me like a body pillow.
That night, I strengthened my resolve to protect this small existence who brought me comfort just by being by her side.
.
.
.
...
Next day, by around midday, we were back in the Guild hall. The only place where the examination was taking place in Murcel village. All village youths under 30 years and all the adventurers were supposed to take the test. The order of taking the test had already been announced.
The village youths would be the first to take part. Hell, there were even 5 year old kids brought for the examination. After the youths, came the adventurers.
Their order of taking the test would be based on their rankings, from lower to higher, starting from the lowest Copper ranker to the highest Rune ranker.
If you discover this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation.
Currently, there were no Rune rankers in this branch of the Guild. There were only 3 in total and none were in this branch. The Adamant holders, including my party, numbered 6.
The exam had already commenced. All the examinee had to do was, walk towards a Giant colorless crystal ball and place his/her hand on it. If the person was a Saint, the crystal would turn Blue and if not, it would show no reaction.
There were more than a hundred people assembled here, but then again, Murcel was one of the bigger villages.
While the two girls were busy chatting away with Jeslie, I made my way towards Erin who was standing in a corner and watching the proceedings carefully.
"Not gonna take the exam?" I asked her casually.
"Not really..." She murmured.
"Why not?"
"Guild staff are the first to take the exam and I''m standing here, so you can guess what happened." She said dejectedly.
"Are you sad that you weren''t chosen?" I asked her quietly.
"Not really. I never expected it anyway" she replied cheerfully.
I gave her a small smile, not out of pity, but rather, out of a slight bit of admiration I felt for the girl.
Suddenly, a small question popped in my mind. A small nagging question that had been there in the back of my head even since I heard anout the Examination.
"Say, Erin... How often are the exams conducted? "
" Hmm? Oh Saints are chosen every 20 years."
I knew it. This wasn''t the first time this shit was happening. Now I knew why Erin had known about Otherworlders.
I grimaced slightly. Erin caught my expression and asked,
"Is there something wrong?"
Tch. Why is she poking her head into my business. Normally I would have told her off but...
"Well... I think I may have a small fever. Take my temparature?" I asked innocently , casually clasping her hand and bringing it to my face.
I watched in all humor as her face went red and she excused herself to escape me.
I chuckled on seeing her expressions.
The examination was progressiong slowly. 3 hours had passed after the commencement of the examination. All of the people wjo had participated till now, failed. Some had gone back home while the majority of the others were standing around and watching the examination in progress.
Another 2 hours rolled by and it was finally our turn. Out of the 6 Adamant rankers, my party was the most powerful. The rest of them were only around level 30-35 while my party was in the 50-70 level range.
Pretty big difference if you ask me...
All the Adamant rankers preceding us, failed. People had slowly started trickling out when Arianne''s turn came up. She looked expectanly at me. I gave her a reassuring smile and she walked towards the crystal.
She placed her hand on top and slowly concentrated, her usual cheery demeanour interuppted by a look of concentration.
The round colorless crystal started pulsating and turned bright blue, and screamed shrilly, stunning all the people standing around watching us,
"SAINT CONFIRMED!"
The talking crystal stunned me. The whole Guild hall erupted in clamor. Voices everywhere. Some of excitement, some of joy, some of envy, some of anger and some of lust on seeing the red headed beauty.
The Branch chairman who was a frail looking old man with wrinkled yellow skin and his friendly seeming eyes glittered in excitement as he drew a deep breath and bellowed in a voice unfitting of his age..
"Arianne Wolfe, Adamant ranker has been declared as the first Saint from the Guild!"
She turned and grinned at us as she made her way towards us. Alice gave her a full blown smile while I chuckled.
Next it was Alice''s turn. The same procedure was repeated .
"SAINT CONFIRMED!"
"Alice Walker, Adamant ranker, has been declared as the second Saint from the Guild."
Alice had a silly grin plastered on her face when she walked towards us. She smiled at me and motioned for me to take the test. I looked around to see if anybody was left but unfortunately, I was the last person standing.
By now, all eyes were looking at me expectantly. I walked towards the big ass crystal and placed my hand on it. The crystal started pulsating violently. I started to panic. I had found a small change in the crystal. It had turned bright red before reverting back to the normal blue.
Silence filled the entire Guild hall until the crystal finally screamed, "SAINT CONFIRMED!"
I could feel the sweat rolling down my back as I finally relaxed.
The old man nodded at me and bellowed,
"David Walker, Adamant ranker, has been declared as the third and final Saint from the Adventurers Guild in Murcel village"
The whole crowd erupted into cheers as I walked back to my group with a small smile touching my lips .

Chapter 17- Farewell
Author''s Note: I was supposed to make a longer chapter and put it up on Wednesday but.... Nah. Who cares. This is a bit short. 1k words (nearly). I was bored with my studies. So here you go.
[David]
The entire village revelled that night. We were one of the few saints to be ever chosen from Murcel. They even hosted a banquet in our favor. People who hadn''t yet caught a glimpse of the village''s new "heroes" came to see us in all our glory. We were even made to wear special dresses for the feast.
"Heroes always need to be presentable at any time" Galvin had said.
Arianne was wearing a fiery red gown with a V slit that exposed quite a bit of her bountiful cleavage. The gown complimented her hair, and along with all the accessories that adorned her body, she was absolutely stunning.
Alice was made to wear a green sheath dress, [AN: It''s a cute type of dress. Google it if you want.] whicb complimented her bodyline. Along with the childish pouts she occasionally directed at me, she was pretty cute in it. It suited her, in a good kind of way.
I on the other hand, was made to wear a tuxedo like dress. To be honest, I would have chosen the crimson one as it was available, but the ladies who brought me the dress, thought otherwise. Soon I found myself wearing a plain black tuxedo with a yellow lapel. I sighed and resigned myself to my fate.
Alive and Arianne were at the center of attention from the guys, which naturally made me a bit peeved. But hey, with all the ladies surrounding me, I started to loosen up too.
The best cooks jn the village, including our friendly innkeeper worked on the boars, the cows and whatnot. The food was lavish and at the same time exquisite. It was the first time I had even attended a party of this magnitude and I slowly began to lose myself in all the fun and revelries.
It was about midnight when the party finally ended and the people slowly dispersed to get some sleep.
I was a bit sad but at the same time, a bit relieved that it had all ended. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Erin beckoning us to join her. I loosened my suit and gave her a small smile.
I called the two girls and soon we made our way towards the Guild. Erin told us that the guildmaster had summoned us to give us further instructions.
I entered the Guild hall and saw a seemingly excited old man smiling at us.
"Hello dear Saints. I am Kefmer, the Guildmaster of this branch. "
I used Observe on him.

Name: Kefmer Rallis
Profession: Guildmaster
Level: 82

Holy shit... this guy is strong. I immediately remembered what Octavius had told us about higher levelled people. I guess the Guildmaster was one of them.

"Hi Sir, I''m Alice, this is my brother David and my friend Arianne" my sister sweetly called out.
Kefmer chuckled and said , " I know that part, young Alice."
I jumped jnto the conversation and asked him, "So, why were we called in the dead of the night again?"
Kefmer slowly evaluated me and said,
" I called you here to tell you what happens next"
Arianne perked up on hearing this, causing the old man to chuckle.
"So, you know what we''re supposed to do?" I drawled.
He looked around for a while and said, " Not really."
Then why the fuck did you even call us here, you stupid old man?. I was getting noticeably irritated.
Kefmer looked at me and said,
"You will know about it yourselves when you reach the capital tomorrow."
"What?"
I was getting confused now. Alice shot me a puzzled look and Arianne was just silently listening in on the conversation.
"The Church and the King have already been notified of your existences and they will send a carriage for you tomorrow which will guide you to the capital." he explained.
I had seen this coming by the longshot. Both the girls were a bit taken aback, but I just sighed and said,
"Okay".
.
.
.
...
It was 10 in the morning.
The carriage had arrived and had been parked outside the Bear Shack. I had already told Galvin of the situation. He was a bit sad but felt happy for us. It was pretty rare to see that kind of person.
Arianne was already waiting for us, inside the carriage. She looked a bit teary eyed, but didn''t cry. Alice was a bit sad because she was on pretty good terms with Galvin and had a few friends in the village.
The whole village gathered at the square to bid us a warm goodbye as we set out on our journey towards the capital.
I too was a bit sad to leave them as I was a bit attached to the village which had sheltered us for 3 months, but the time had come to say goodbye.
Soon we were all seated in the carriage and it set out towards the capital.
A new journey, a new adventure and a new purpose was all awaiting us.
But little did I know that my taking the Saint examination was one of the biggest mistakes I had ever made...
