《Battle Against the Dark》 The Beginning ''Ugh.. the sun''s too bright'' said Lynn Aurelius. It was morning and he had just woken from his comfortable slumber. The seasons were rapidly changing from summer to autumn, but the sun was still an early riser. "I should go greet the Pegasus''s". He got up and put on his normal clothes and looked at the mirror. He had slightly spiked midnight black hair complemented by a set of golden eyes. You could say he was strikingly handsome, but he had this mysterious aura that made others feel inferior albeit the fact that he usually has an emotionless face. "Good morning your royal highness..." said his personal guard in front of his room. "Stephen are you not tired,you know I can handle myself daytime and nighttime from whatever idiot tries to attack me... as if anyone would though". He continued on walking toward the stables and glanced behind him to see the man''s expression. It was of shock and slight happiness. Stephen a tall medium built man who always had a comfortable feeling oozing out of him. His hair was silver and reached all the way to his shoulders and looked to be in his mid 30s, but he was actually much older than that. "I apologize, but it is my responsibility to be by your side and it is my job". The guard quietly followed followed him and went on speaking today''s routine. "Today you will have a meeting with the lord and highness in five minutes about your engagement to Lady Violet and...". He suddenly stopped in his tracks and turned to his personal guard, " Stephen, go tell my parents I will not be engaged to someone as bratty and selfish as that old woman." The guard scrunched up his eyebrows and whispered "But your majesty, I can''t do that. I''ll be fired and banished if I were to do that." The prince sighed and said, "Fine i''ll do it personally ". He sped down the hall and opened the massive gold doors into the throne room. He stepped into the brightly lit room and saw his mother and father sitting across from the prime minister and his daughter Violet. "Oh your majesty your here already. I can''t wait for our marriage." said Violet. The prince sighed. Sure she was beautiful, but she just wasn''t his type and her attitude was even worse. He knew for a fact that Violet was a spoiled brat from birth since they were childhood ''friends'', if you could consider it that. "Father, why is it that I am suddenly engaged and without my consent. This girl is spoiled and I don''t even like her in the least." He had an emotionless look in his eyes and was demanding an answer. His father put up a serious face and said "Son, if you don''t marry another who has superior power and authority, how do you think the royal line will continue. Regardless of your decision and opinion, you will marry Lady Violet whether you like it or not." His patience was running thin and he retorted "For me to marry this trash of a woman, I''d rather not marry at all." Lady Violet suddenly burst into tears and was loud enough to the point where everyone in the palace could hear. "Why do you hate me so much Prince Lynn, I simply want the kingdom to prosper and once we marry, we could learn to love each other." Tick marks were beginning to appear on his forhead, "Father, do you not understand me, I''ve lived here for 17 years already and I know for a fact that the prime minister and his daughter included is trying to corrupt the royal family and there are plenty of reasons and examples of how they are doing it." His father''s face contorted and with his powerful voice, in front of the crowd of people at the door listening into the conversation, "Lynn, you will not speak badly of my friend and you most certainly can not disapprove of your own marriage. If you do not want this marriage then I might as well banish you from the kingdom and force you down to Stolen content warning: this content belongs on Royal Road. Report any occurrences.the lower lands!!!" Lynn''s eyes darkened and he snorted "Fine, do what you want, but I will not marry this wench and you can''t stop me." He was trying to keep in his anger in albeit his face was emotionless and stoic. His mother suddenly became alarmed and spoke out "Your majesty you can''t banish our own son and crown prince to the lower lands. We all know that Lynn has powers and abilities that surpass even our own, but he is my son, I can''t let him roam alone." Lynn knew how much his mother loved and and cherished him, but after what happened in 17 years ago she was reluctant to take her eyes off him for even a second. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ It was the middle of the night on the evening of my birth. People had infiltrated the kingdom from below and were destroying the kingdom. People were being stabbed and lifeless eyes stared back at their comrades. The infiltrators wore black cloaks and led a group of grotesque monsters who had slacken jaws and what looked to be Minotaur legs combined with not a humanoid top, but a near hairless dog. Nearly a quarter of the royal army force were injured and when they had gotten to his crib, he was almost taken as the queen was weak after giving birth. Apparently a large orb of light had arose from his body and it enveloped the whole room with light that turned the kidnappers into dust and ashes. The attackers began to screech in pain and retreated. He had fallen asleep for a week and everyone in the kingdom were in riot until he had woken up and surprised everyone with a laugh. While the cleaners were cleaning up his room, they found streaks of visible mana and it was deduced that it had come from him and the queen, still in a tired state began to be more protective around him. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Lynn peered at his mother and spoke in a soft voice, "Mother, you needn''t worry about me, I am perfectly capable." His father got up and stood on his throne, "From this day on, the crown prince Lynn Aurelius is hereby banished for an indefinite amount of time until he reforms and is willing to marry Lady Violet." The maids and guards behind the door gasped and from the corner of Lynn''s golden eyes, he saw the prime minister and his daughter lock eyes and smile. He watched with slanted pupils at the two, "Very well father, then I wish to be sent to a vacant home near the Maegis Academy." The King looked at his son. "So be it, I will do exactly that, but keep in mind Lynn, I will have to restrict how much magic you can use and conceal you so that people will not recognize that you are from the royal family. Also as a punishment, I will seal all your memories except for your own name and how to use the most basic of magics." Mother started to cry and said, "Lynn please, are you sure you want to do this?" He nodded and his mother closed her eyes and you could see her physically wilt into her chair as she spoke. "I will make you live in the most comfortable home in the lower lands and I will inform the headmaster of the school. Promise me you''ll not get into trouble okay?" Lynn thanked his mother and nodded his head as he was escorted to an empty room where the king and queen and the necessary helpers to set him up. Chapter 2: Seal and Arrival ~~In the Prime Minister''s house~~~ "It seems as though everything is going as planned father" Violet said. She was sitting casually on her seat as her father was grinning with an evil glint in his eyes. "Yes, soon we will be able overthrow the king and take over, but first we have to get rid of that annoying prince." "Hasn''t it already been done? Now that he''s been banished and without most of of his powers and memories, he should pose little threat to us." She smirked and twirled her hair as she saw the guards and maids holding all sorts of limiters. The prime minister squinted his eyes and was no longer smiling. "Insolent girl, just because he seems powerless doesn''t mean he will not break free from his enchantment. Furthermore, the king is already on to us. We mustn''t be careless." Violet lowered her head and apologized. "I''m sorry father, but why would he be suspicious? You''ve been friends with the king for about 30 years." Her father sighed and responded "Enough, this conversation is over. For now the king has informed me that the banishment of Prince Lynn Aurelius is a secret. Only spread this news to the guards and maids who were peeping in on the conversation." Violet nodded and quickly exited her abode. ~~~In the private chambers in the castle~~~ The King stared at the sleeping face of his son and he felt somewhat regretful for doing what he was about to do. His son''s words kept echoing in his mind, but he just couldn''t help think of the prime minister, his long time friend to be a traitor. He was too furious to think about what he said at the time and ended up not only sealing a majority of his power, but most of his memories. He rubbed his temples and spoke to his maid, "Bring me the limiters." The maid nodded and handed him the silver earring and chain necklace. As he approached his Lynn''s side, an explosive force bombarded him. His face was full of shock. He countered his sons force with his own and successfully clasped the earring and necklace onto his son before chanting in words of power, "Bind his mind, bind his power khyazgaarlakh" A bright light enveloped the room and once it disappeared, Lynn who was atop his bed, no longer looked quite the same. His hair took on a medium shade of brown and his skin was slightly tanner. His eyes however, stayed the same. The queen rushed into the room and gazed at her son. In truth, the idea of changing his look was Lynn''s idea. Although Lynn was a somewhat serious child, he would not go to the lower lands for anything meeting related and was quite reluctant to let others see him so not many people actually knew what he looked like, but the ones who did, always caused him the most trouble. "You think he will be okay by himself dear? What if he get into to trouble and nobody will be there to help him? What if he''s bullied in school? What if..." Her words were stopped by the king and he simply smiled at her. "Don''t worry, its not as if I left him with nothing. The limiters are simply temporary, he''ll break out of it eventually. I just want him to learn a bit, without all of his knowledge and powers. Think of it as also a lesson." The king responded to her and she bit her lip as she left the room. "Ill go prepare his home and enrollment." The queen stepped into a carriage that was waiting for her and she sped of to the lower lands. ~~~In the lower lands~~~ The queen got off her carriage and examined the school Lynn was going to attend. The school was enormous and was splendidly ornamented. She walked toward the gate and remembered to disguise herself first before facing the guard. "No visitors are permitted to enter this school at this hour. If you wish to meet the headmaster, come back tomorrow." The guard spoke in a loud voice. He was a young man who looked to be in his mid 20s and was dutifully doing his job. The narrative has been illicitly obtained; should you discover it on Amazon, report the violation. The queen smiled at him and gave him an enveloped. "Then may you please give this letter to the headmaster and tell him its from Lorayne." The guard looked unsure until he finally ran into the building and in a couple minutes, a middle aged looking man with a short white beard and an exquisite black robe came running toward her at a quick pace. "Lorayne, what are you doing here. I haven''t seen you in ages." The man grinned at the woman in front of him and she smiled back. "Elder brother, I have missed you. I came to discuss some important matters with you." He nodded his head and began leading her to his office. The guard had a clueless look on his face and resumed his position until he finally realized something. "Wait, elder brother!?!?!?!" ~~~5 hours later~~~ He woke up from a very large headache and he stretched his arms while examining his surroundings. ''Where am I''. The room was rather large and beside him was a window. Moonlight was shining through the open window and a slight breeze brushed past his face. He suddenly felt a small paper underneath his hand. - Name: Darren Suwa - Age: 17 - Magic: Fire and dark - School: Maegis Academy On the back of the piece of paper, there was a little note. Dear Darren, I know you will have some trouble when you wake up, but don''t worry, just go to the headmaster in the morning when you go to school and he will help you, otherwise me and your mother will watch over you. Make sure to look at the map I have for you and make sure to wear the glasses in the box located near your bed and never take them off in front of anyone at any time except with the headmaster. The glasses does not affect how you see or any of the sort though if your curious, look in the mirror with the glasses on. Extra tip, the glasses can''t break or get scratched if you were to scrape them or drop them. Also, don''t mind the earring and necklace. They will not come off or break easily. Sincerely your Father. He tilted his head to the side, trying to comprehend the contents of the letter. He looked to the side and saw a box that had the word, open. He did as it said and his eyes widened at the sight of what he saw. There was about 50 pairs of glasses and when he touched one, he felt like he was shocked. He touched it again, bringing it to his face and he moved toward the bathroom. He peered into the mirror and he stared at his face. His eyes were brown, but when he took them off, he saw gold. He repeated his actions for 1 minute before he got tired and sighed. ''What the heck is going on.'' ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Author''s note: Hi :3... This part is just for me to kind of tell anyone who happens to actually read this that everything you just read is by an inexperienced and new writer (me!!). This is the first time I''ve ever done something like this and I thought it''d be fun, but I''m just gonna tell you this right now, there will be plenty of parts that have mistakes and make no sense and I will try to change it. I welcome all criticisms and questions as well as pretty much anything. Feel free to give me some advice. I learned most of how to do this type of writing by reading the 10+ light novels and other royalroadl fictions that I''ve been balancing and trying to not be attracted to other light novels and the like. I''ve already saved up another 10+ light novels to read on my phone after I''m done reading the ones I''m reading now and I also have a bunch that I stopped reading for a while that I kept on hold.
