《A bored boy looking for reason》 Chapter 1 Introduction -Alex, could you explain the Euklides algorithm? I woke up from my day dreaming and was staring at the teacher that was looking at me, probably noticing that I was dozing off and just wanted to get my attention. I looked at the whiteboard and noticed some gibberish math that I just had a tiny clue on how to do. -Sorry I don¡¯t understand it fully, but I think it was something like dividing the bigger number with the lesser and then dividing the lesser number with the rest you got. -Almost right, you continue to divide¡. I wasn¡¯t really listening to him. I didn¡¯t even want to continue with this. I just so happened to have nothing to do so I just applied to a college that seemed somewhat interesting and chose to study programming since it was obvious that it was where the future was heading to. (Au note: In case some are wondering just because you read programming doesn¡¯t mean that is the only thing you read, there are a lot of math too) Personally I think that we do not have a future since everything we do have no meaning to it, think about it, you are born, stay at home, go to a daycare, continue to school, then some more school, and then you have to continue studying, and then some more. We waste about 20 years on this before we are done and continue the so called ¡°adult life¡± just to notice that almost everything we learned in school is never used. After we are done with all that we have to get a job, wake up early and work until it is late for about 40 years before we are free to do what the hell we want. While we are doing all that you are starting a family and have to work even more so that you can let them eat and have a good life. This is just so that we can die happy and leave everything behind. Totally pointless if you ask me. But don¡¯t get me wrong I don¡¯ want to die or anything it is just that I see no point in everything that we do. The same argument can be said about all the religions, even if we have a life after this so what it¡¯s the same thing there, there is no meaning to it. Class ended and I was walking home. On my way I saw the same beggar I always saw on my way home. The government keeps talking about making our world a better place to live in while they take all the money for themselves while letting the poor starve and let them live on the street, It¡¯s the same with every citizen, they talk about it and feel horrible but do nothing against it. As I came walking to him he called out to me with a smile as always, I wondered how he could do that. -Hey, you back again kid? -Yeah, I thought of giving you some money for food. I ended up giving him 10$ as I have done sometimes before. I got to know him a little, apparently he joined the army after dropping out of high school, and he even had a girlfriend at that time that was supporting him. One round turned into two and so on. When he got home and finally was retiring from the army he had served for 15 years he found that she had taken literally everything from him. They moved in together when he was home one time and lived happily or so he thought, when he got home he saw that another family was living there. He asked them what they were doing in his house and where his girlfriend was. All that he got was that the previous owner of the house sold it to them and moved on. He tried to find her but she was gone. As he had no place to stay he got to stay on one of the armies border houses but that only lasted for one year until he got kicked out and had to live on the street since he had no real educations according to our society and no one wanted to hire him and with no source of income he couldn¡¯t get a loan and all his family members was gone. -"Thank you so much as always." He said with a big smile. -"It was nothing, you deserve better than this." I said as a simple matter of fact with a small hint of pity in my voice. This tale has been unlawfully obtained from Royal Road. If you discover it on Amazon, kindly report it. As I got home I started the cooking. It was the same thing every day, after school I always start to cook for myself and my old man. My mother died when I was four and I can only remember her face and some things that are a little too fuzzy to make any sense. My old man wasn¡¯t really bad to me but he wasn¡¯t nice either. He just simply didn¡¯t care. I was told that he was madly in love with my mother and had a big breakdown when she died, he also got to drinking a bit too much. Now we have a deal that I take care of the things around the house and I leave him alone while he earns the money and leave me alone. A simple life but better than most others, thanks to this I didn¡¯t have to take any loans and the little I earned on my breaks was enough for the study material. He doesn¡¯t come home for a bit later though so I just put his portion aside while I take mine to my room. We seldom eat together. I started up my computer as usual and start eating while reading my fantasy novels. That was my way of escaping this extremely boring life. As I am sure we all have once thought of something like being a hero in another world or something, I was no exception to this either. I usually put myself in the heroes shoes and try to decide what I would have done in those situations. I tried starting to write my own story but it just never happened. This time I was reading a novel about a hero summoning, the hero had to kill the humans¡¯ enemy, the demon lord and blindly follows what they say. I always thought that was stupid. Who would even listen to someone that just kidnapped you from your family only to have you help them fix their own mess. I read a novel some years ago where one of the hero just walked out on them and survived on his own. That one made me really recognize myself with the hero. Maybe I should also mention that I am a bit of anti-social since I have no ¡°real friends¡±, of course I have some that I hang out with at school but no more than that. I think that I am not as emotional as others because of my relationship with my old man, not that I blame him not at all. But also because of the way I think about life, the whole has no meaning thing. As I was done eating I walked downstairs to do the dishes, that was about the only thing my old man did by himself in this house, not that it was much to do, just wash the dish and put it in the dishwasher and then I start it when it is full. Now that I am thinking about it I haven¡¯t talked about the house or what my old man does have I? Well the house has two floors the ground floor is where the living room and kitchen are while upstairs are the bedrooms and bathroom it is a quite simple little house but it will do. (Au note: If you ever been in a typical house in England in one of the cities you have a pretty good idea) My old man is something like a blacksmith I guess you could say. I have watched him work sometimes and what he does is smelt down iron and make things out of it. Not really sure what it is called in ¡°modern days¡±. He has asked me to help him on a few occasion and all I can say is that it is different from what you would expect of the era we are in, but quite fun though. I once asked if could try to do something on my own and he agreed as long as someone supervised it which wasn¡¯t a problem. And so I made what every guy would do if he got the same chance mainly a katana. I wasn¡¯t allowed to sharpen it but It came out pretty well if I had to say so myself. It is now hanging on the wall in my room. And before you ask, yes I have tried swinging it and destroyed a lamp with it. I had to buy a new one with my own money. As I was sitting in my room still reading novels, a white light suddenly enveloped me. I looked around confused and all I could see was some circles and strange symbols. As my conscious faded I heard a voice. -Hope you find your reason for the chance you have been given. I barely heard what it said as I lost conscious. Chapter 2 Kidnapping? Magic? As I woke up I could hear some people speaking in some strange language. I opened my eyes and what I saw was mind-blowing. We were on a platform on high ground, the view was breathtaking and it¡¯s one of a kind. On the platform was pillars with strange markings on them and there was a staircase that was leading down to what you could only assume was a large and majestic building. As I looked around I saw the people that was speaking in the strange language. There were four men and one women, the men had something like a robe for magicians in an RPG game and with a pointed hood. The woman was nothing else than beautiful and was wearing something that looked like a really expensive white dress with golden patterns, she also had something like a tiara with shining gems in it. When I looked around more I could see four other people with the same confused look I was having. They had the same type of clothes that I have so I assumed they were from my world. Wait! Why did I think of that? As I thought of this I heard someone say. - H-h-hey where are we??? I looked at the voice and saw a girl about the same age as me if not a year younger. Ah and I am 19 by the way. I was relieved that she was speaking English and that I was not the only one in this fucked up situation. I looked at the girl and said. - I don¡¯t know but my guess is we are not home. She looked back at me with a startled expression on her face. Not expecting an answer I guess. She reminded me of a scared puppy. Kind of cute actually. - "W-w-who are you?!" She asked in a demanding but scared voice. - "My name I Alex and I am from Portsmouth. And who are you?" - "I¡¯m Louis and I am from San Francisco." She seemed to be a little bit more at ease. So she is from the US and not from England as I was which was a bit unsettling to be truthful. I noticed that the other three looked at us when we was speaking so I asked them. - "So who and where are you guys from?" - "My name is Rebecca but most just call me Becca and I am from Gracetown." Hm she seemed a bit more cheerful than the others, might have been because she also seems a bit older. - "I am from Bury Port and my name is Rupert." - "I¡¯m Charles and from Edmonton." So we have me from England, Louis from USA, Rebecca from Australia, Rupert from Wales and Charles from Canada. Hm. - "I am just gonna ask to be sure but all of you were at home before coming here and not on vacation or something?" - "Yes." They all say with one voice. As I had come to my conclusion I saw that the other party with the strange language did something and a light blue light came from them and surrounded us. Everyone was alarmed by it and was now standing up. But as soon as the light vanished I heard the woman asking and surprisingly it wasn¡¯t the strange language which I couldn¡¯t understand or rather it was the same language but I understood her. - "Welcome heroes you must have a lot of question to ask and all of them will be answered if you come with me." But before she could continue I stopped her to ask. - "Who are you and what was the blue light and how come we understand you now when we couldn¡¯t before!?" Don¡¯t get me wrong here now, even if it seemed that I was perfectly normal that was far from it. I was scared, very scared but at the same time I had a feeling that I was finally free or something. - "I am the royal princess of the human race Annise Lortain von Arlais. The blue light as you called it is a spell to make you understand us and the same for us to understand you. Now if you could follow me you will get answer to all the other questions you may have." We were all thinking the same thing mainly ¡°What the hell¡± but none the less we followed her. No one talked while we walked and there was just this suffocating silence. They split us up. The girls in one room and us boys in one room. We were told that we would get clothes so that we would be presentable in front of the king. If you ask me this is just a bit too much even if I could understand where they were coming with it. The clothes we were given was something like a half robe. It kinda looked like a coat. I was given a black shirt and black pants, my coat thingy (ah I will just call it that from now on) was also black with some silver lines and patterns. I looked in the mirror and what I saw was an average if not better looking face with black hair and green eyes in clothes that gave of a noble feeling. Rupert and Charles was given the same type of clothes as I got but with a different color. Rupert¡¯s was white with gold lines. Almost like the dress the princess had. Charles clothes had the color grey with black lines and patterns. They both also gave off the feeling of a noble. When we were done dressing and got out of the room we were led to where the girls had been taken and what we saw was two beautiful girls in one piece dresses. Louis dress was blue with lines and patterns of light blue and Becca¡¯s dress were yellow with orange lines and patterns. Now we all have the aura of nobles around us and I couldn¡¯t help but think of the saying ¡°The clothes make the man¡±. There really had to be something in that. The attendants began leading us to two really big doors. The doors were adorned with a carving of dragons. Not the lizard western type but the serpent eastern type. The doors opened and what waited us inside was a really big room. The room was by far bigger then my old house. Not to mention the high class decorations. The floor was of pure white marble, you could almost see your own reflection in it. And there was a big fat chandelier hanging in the middle of the room. The ceiling was high up and the chandelier was at least ten meters above the floor. There were sculptures of knights standing in a row to the side of the big red carpet. The sculptures looked so real you would almost think they were alive if it weren¡¯t for the stone color they had. Beside every sculpture stood a real knight which only strengthened the feeling that the sculptures were alive. Further inside the room was a small staircase and there were three chairs that could only be described as unnecessary decorated, they were by all meaning majestic but it was just too much decorations on them. The ones sitting on the chairs is what I assumed is the royal family. The king, queen and princess. At the same time I thought that. - ¡°Greetings heroes I am Gerard Dukin von Arlain king of the human race.¡± as he said that he motioned to the one sitting next to him. - ¡°And this is my wife Freay Yulwin von Arlain the queen of the human race." She looked like an elder version of the princes but by no means did she look old. - "And you have already met our daughter Annise Lortain von Arlain princess of the human race." We all looked a little surprised at the three. I had already grasped most of what has happened and could guess what was coming next. Who would have known that spending all that time reading fantasy novels would come to handy in such a way. While I was thinking about it all the king raised his hand. - "Now before you ask any question let me explain what happened. We have used a ritual to summon heroes from another world in order to help and aid us in our war against the demons. And you are the heroes that have been summoned." As the king told us what happened, the others seemed to have lost all thinking capacity but since I already knew this was gonna happen I wasn¡¯t as shocked and could recover from the shock quite fast. The king continued. - "You all also have to choose a new name for this world, of course you can choose the same name as you had before." This just felt unreal. Like why do we have to pick a new name, and does he realize that he has just kidnapped us? - "Eh King Gerard what about our homes and family? I don¡¯t know about the others but even though my old man was not the best he is still my family." The king looked at me with a strange look on his face. Almost as if I had disrespected him. Well he can fuck off for all I care this is a freaking kidnapping! - "Do not worry there are forces that will make sure that nothing is amiss in another world during a summoning. For example it could be that they all have forgotten you like you never existed and that is just one theory. We are not very familiar with the hero summoning and it is said that only the demon king has all knowledge about it." The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement. I realized that the other four has finally snapped out of it and had a look of depression on their faces. Well I can¡¯t blame them, it wouldn¡¯t be normal if you could keep your calm in a situation like this. Even though I said this it doesn¡¯t matter much to me if we can go back or not. I didn¡¯t have much in my ¡°old world¡± anyway but it is just the way they did this. If they could summon us at least give us the chance to say nor or something. - "So you just kidnapped us from our own world with no way to get us back? And on top of that the only known thing you have about our trip back is that the demon king know how to do it. Not only did you use something that you don¡¯t fully understand which could have costed our life but on top of it you want us to fight for you!?!" All the eyes turned towards me and was staring at me like I was some kind of vermin when I said my thoughts. The king also looked very displeasing with what I have said but didn¡¯t say anything against it. The princess did have a little hint of pity and shame in her eyes but not so much that she would do something about it. - "While it is true that we can¡¯t send you back, we can¡¯t force you to fight for us either. The best you could do in that case is try to live a peaceful life in our world." For the first time we entered the throne room one of the other spoke up. When I looked at them I saw it was the guy called Rupert. - "Don¡¯t worry. I will aid you in the war against the demons and defeat them so that we can all return. He said that with a glint in his eyes like he was some damn savior or something. I only had one word for him. RETARD." The others also chipped in now. - "If there is a way home I would like to find it." Charles said with a stern voice. - "Yeah that is right and while we are at it lets have some fun in this world too." Becca was as cheerful as ever. Quite unexpected actually. - "Y-y-you are right we have to fight or ourselves so that we can return home." Louis was obviously shaken. Still there was some kind of determination in her eyes. The king looked very pleased with what the other said. I am quite sure he is gonna use them for his own gain like some slaves. It would be good if I could get them to distrust the king a little but it isn¡¯t really necessary for me since I have already decided what to do. - "Now then, before we continue you all have to choose a new name for yourself that identifies you in this world. As I said you can choose you old name or a new name. When you have gotten your name you will receive a magic affinity. We will test your affinity here too. Just simply say I wish to be known as and your name." I am going to be honest here I was quite surprised with the magic thing and it sparked my interest. And of course the retard went first. - "I wish to be known as Arthur!" A white light surrounded him and it was done. The other saw this and followed suit. I waited until they were done. Mostly because I wanted to abandon my old name, not that I have anything against it. It is just that I want a new name for a new world. - "I wish to be known as Charles!" A green light surrounded him and it was done. Hm I wonder if the light changes color depending on the attribute. Considering Charles had green light and the retard had white light they probably have different magic affinity. I would guess light and nature if I take in my experience of fantasy novels. - "I wish to be known as Becca!" An orange light surrounded her and it was done. - "I wish to be known as Louise!" A yellow light surrounded her and it was done. I had the perfect name. It would represent what I want to do in this world and with a slight change it would feel like my own name. - "I wish to be known as Cardiz!" A black light surrounded me and it was done. I sure as hell hope they don¡¯t associate black with evil. - "Now Julius if you would." The king looked at one of the men that was wearing the hooded robe we saw at the platform earlier. Only his were looking to be much more valuable. - "My name is Julius Vrondize, and I am an archmage. All you have to do now is touch this crystal here and it will show us what magic affinity you got. Remember that you can develop affinity for more elements as you grow more adept in your magic." He held out a fist size crystal that was shaped like a prism. And the retard was first to step forward. Why am I not surprised? As he touched the crystal the whole room shined up brightly and filled it with a comfortable feeling. Julius looked surprised and then finally stuttered. - "Y-y-you have holy magic affinity. It is one of the most precious affinities within the human race." The retard looked very satisfied and grinned like an idiot. The next one to step forward was Becca. When she touched the crystal the room lit up in a strange mix of red and yellow light. Yet again Julius looked surprised not as much as before though. - "Miss Becca you seem to have blazing affinity. It is very rare and is a combination of light affinity and fire affinity. It have very explosive potential if may say so myself." She looked a bit proud of herself. Next up was Charles, the room lit up in a very bright green color. This time Julius looked a bit astonished. Seriously what is with him? He has shown three different emotions that yet is almost the same. - "You have nature affinity. That is very rare considering that it is usually only elves that have it." When we all hear that we were a bit surprised. Not that we should if you think about it. This was a different world and demons exist. Why shouldn¡¯t elves exist too? - "Elves?" The retard blurted out - "Yes, except for us humans and our enemies the demons, there also are elves such as high elves, wood elves and dark elves. Dwarfs usually reside in the mountains and don¡¯t bother much with the other races except for trade. Then there are the demi-humans that have some part of an animal or a monster. They don''t have a contry but more like a territory where they live in small communities." As we got a little lesson on the various races that live in this world Louis touched the crystal and a yellow light shined in the room. This time Julius didn¡¯t look very surprised, may have been because the others affinities were more unusual than Louis. - "And you miss Louis have the light affinity. It is also rare but not as much as the others." Jackpot I thought. Finally it is my turn. I wonder if I have dark affinity since my light was black when I choose my name and I sure as hell that I don¡¯t get labeled as evil. When I touched the crystal a pitch black light shined in the room with a tiny hint of purple in it. Yet again Julius looked like his jaw dropped to the floor. All the others looked the same as Julius. - "T-t-t-t-that is void affinity!!!!!! It is extremely rare and only a few in history have been recorded to have it. Most never make an appearance and just stick to themselves." Heh so I am one of the few rare. That suits me perfectly. And I can think of so many uses with this magic. ___________________________________________________________________________________________ At some point in this chapter i also used " " to calrify the disucssion. Example: -"That is very unusual". He said with a strange voice Or as i normally started out. Example2: -That is very unusual. He said with a strange voice Pleas leave a comment which you think i should continue with. I have changed it so that I use " " as one have commented on. Chapter 3 First step If there are any mistakes or anything you want me to change for exampel the way I present the conversations just comment or send me a pm and i will try to change it. And pls do rate wheter you think it is bad or good. I need opinions to make this better than it is. If it is good then i just have to continue the way I am writing but if it is bad then i have to change that. And don''t take me for someone that can''t take a little criticism. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- After the ruckus about my void affinity had settled down, I wanted to know what happens next. Because I have no intention to follow them blindly but as it is now they are the best source of information even if that information could not fully be trusted. - "So what happens now? I mean we are surely not stronger than your knights as is it is now. So how do you expect us to fight the demon king?" - "Eh-hm, now you will be staying in the palace and receive training from Julius in magic and you will also receive training in martial art from knight- captain Gus Travellus." The others looked like they just got a new toy and just wanted to play. I think that is because magic never really existed in our world. - "I have no intention of staying with you but I would like to take up your offer for the lessons." Now all eyes was on me. Who would refuse the hospitality of the king? I didn¡¯t really bother with the stares but I already had my plan laid out and as such I didn¡¯t want any part with the king as it is now. Sure if it really turns out that the demon king is an evil bitch that takes what he can and kills when he wants I will help them. Bu come on. We all know that in every freaking novel and story that humans is always at fault somehow. So before I even want to associate myself with the king I need a firm grasp of the situation. To get rid of the stares was quite simple actually. - "If I am going to save the humans I at least want to know them. And the best way to do that is to live with them. And I am sure the king is wise and understands what I mean. And alas to get powerful enough to even stand a chance against the demon king I would need strength, that is why I will come and attend the lessons of both archmage Julius and knight-captain Gus." He looked quite surprised with my sudden change of words. I would just be dumb to turn down free lessons in both magic and martial art. And at the same time I got rid of all these displeasing looks others gave me. - "I-if that is your wish then you are free to do so." - "Then do you have a blacksmith in this city?" This time I was not the king that answered me but someone beside him. He was probably Gus the knight captain. He was big, not the fat big but muscle big. He was at least 2 meters tall and his arms looked like tree logs. He wore something that looked more like adventure clothes instead of what a knight-captain should be wearing. He silver pants with some metal paddings shielding the bigger part of his thigh, shin and calf. He had a grey shirt with a silver breastplate that just covered his chest and stomach. I can¡¯t believe I didn¡¯t notice him at all. He was freaking huge. - "The Hammers Stone is the best blacksmithing shop in this city. The owner is a dwarf that for some reason decided to start a shop in this city. All our weapons for the army and knights comes from there. The names Gus if you hadn¡¯t figured that out already." I could see that the others was also shocked that they never noticed such a big guy right next to the king. Since I had gotten all the information I wanted for now I decided that I should go and seek this shop. - "Oh great king if there is nothing else you need to inform us about I wish to take my leave." This also surprised a lot of eyes in the room, I guess that is since usually it is the king that says when you should leave and stay. - "Ehm alright you are excused." When I got out of the palace I started walk around the city. It was strange since I could read what was on the signs despite not knowing the characters. Magic sure is a convenient thing huh. It reminded a lot of the RPG games that I have played. The streets, the houses and even the market. Everything was like straight taken out of a game. I had to ask some people for the Hammer Stone to get to it. From the look outside it was nothing less than impressive. It took up a lot of space and just beneath the roof were big iron letters where it stood HAMMERS STONE. You couldn¡¯t really miss it. The inside was like a regular shop it didn¡¯t show at all that it was big or anything. The inside was filled with weapons and armor. They were in all shapes you could think of. There was a sword thing that curved back so much that it almost created a circle. I walked forward to the counter where a bulky man was. He was a bit tanned and had some well-defined muscles with a shaggy hair. - "Hello customer what can I do for you?" - "Hello I would like to be apprentice here. Is it possible?" The man looked a bit annoyed at me and said. - "Well, you can but you have to smith something without any help to even be able to get a chance. Are you up for it?" - "Sure. Can it be anything? And does it have to be at some quality to pass?" I was actually not sure that I could pass this. I did have my secret weapon that I was a hero and all that but I would prefer to let that be kept hidden for various reasons. - "Yes you can make anything, it has to be some quality and not something that you could only call trash." He led me to the back where there was a sturdy wooden door. If you listened closely you could hear something behind it. When he opened the door I was greeted by loud noises. I guess this is the workshop. - "Hey everyone there is one that wish to be an apprentice!" Most of the working men stopped what they were doing. But what caught my eye was that a female was walking towards me. - "Hey Gale I will take it from here." She said and the man who was named Gale let and walked back through the door. - "So you want to be an apprentice?" - "Yes." - "Well, all you have to do is to smith something and we judge base on that if you are worthy to meet the master. Any questions?" - "Yes. Actually I was quite surprised to see a woman here. I mean no disrespect with that." - "Oh you have quite some nerve. But I can see what you mean and yes normally a woman wouldn¡¯t be a blacksmith but there are always exceptions. If you have nothing more you may use the furnace over there and we will provide with the metal." I had already decided what to do. A katana since that is the only thing I have done before. I started by heating the ingot and trying to get it to the ¡°forging heat¡± that my old man once described it. It is the ideal form according to my old man and that is when the metal glows bright yellow-orange in color. As I continued with my work I notice a little crowed had gathered, not that I mind but it was a little unnerving. They seemed surprised with what I was forging. As I only had the sharpening process left the woman came up to me. - "You have passed and is allowed to see master. He will probably be very satisfied with you." I was a little surprised since I wasn¡¯t finished yet but hey, this works for me since I have never sharpened before. I was told that I could see him tomorrow morning. I asked if they had any place to stay and they led me to a room with only a bed and a small table in it. As soon as I laid down I started to drift off to sleep. I was thinking of everything that happened today and was quite happy for some reason before I finally fell asleep. Louis POV I was chatting with Becca about what happened today. We were in a room we were assigned to by the king. It was a very beautiful room but a little too much for my taste. Enjoying this book? Seek out the original to ensure the author gets credit. Before we arrived here I was sitting in my room reading a book. And then the next moment I ended up on that platform. I was really scared but managed to get out a few words. Not really expecting response but I still got one. The one answering me was a young man probably around 20 years old. He had black hair and very green eyes. The contrast was very alluring. And the face wasn¡¯t too bad either. But I was panicked almost lashed out at him, but he only responded me with a calm voice. That made me feel a little better. After that he asked about me and the others that also came here. He took controlled of the situation and seemed to know what was going on or at least that was the feeling I got from him. When we got some information on what was going on we were going to meet the king that would give us the full explanation. I was really shocked. I and Becca got some really nice dresses that fit perfectly. We also started to talk a little of what was going on but nothing noteworthy. She also seemed interested in Alex. What the king said surprised us all. A new world? Elves? Magic? Who wouldn¡¯t be surprised? But at the same time Alex as he was called started to question the king. I was scared, really scared and when he mentioned our families I wanted to cry, but nothing happened I was too shocked about this being another war and we being heroes. Alex began to scream at the king. I was really scared couldn¡¯t do anything. I just watched as he talked and shouted at the king. After Alex was done and the king had spoken, the guy next to me started talking. I think his name was Rupert. He talked about something like helping but I only wanted to go home so I agreed with the others. After that we was told to choose a name, the guy from before Rupert choose Arthur. He really thinks highly of this justice thing is all that I thought. Charles took his own name and Becca took her nickname. I of course chose to take my own name. When it was Alex turn was a bit curios if he was going to take his own name. But to my surprise or maybe not he choose a totally different name. Cardiz. When we learned that there is elves we were all a bit chocked. I mean those only exist in fantasy and books. But then again we are now in another world. What happens next is quite scary. After we got our magic affinities known. Alex or Cardiz now I guess, his personality did complete change. Before he was angry with the king but now he was almost praising him. It was quite scary. He also didn¡¯t want to stay in the palace which I thought was strange. Oh well I have to ask him about it when I see him next time. King Gerrard POV This brat is really rude. He actually talks without being spoken too and actually dares to scream at me. Me the King! But I can¡¯t do much since he is one of the heroes. He should feel honored to be a hero of the human race. I explained to them what has happened and they were all surprised to say the least. They didn¡¯t seem to have either elves or magic in their world. I wondered how they managed to live there. After I explained that they would get training the brat acted vert strange. He spoke politely and even praised me a bit. I was surprised but at the same time I have to be careful with this brat. He is cunning unlike the others. But then he suddenly asked for his leave in a respectful way. He is just so so so strange, he even refused my hospitality which had never happened before. Back to Cardiz It felt really good to sleep. I slept like baby despite all that happened, well maybe it was because of that I slept so well. I dressed myself and went out to see if I could get something to eat for breakfast. I looked for the woman that told me I passed. It wasn¡¯t so hard to find her since she is the only one here. I walked up to her and when she saw me she called out and started to introduce herself. - "Hey new guy I¡¯m Amy I forgot to mention that yesterday. So what is your name?" - "It¡¯s Cardiz. I gave her a small smile. So is there any place I could get some food here before I meet the master?" - "Yeah we have a dining room where you can eat. Usually it cost 3 copper but since you are new I will tell them to serve you for free." - "Thank you." Phew she solved my money problem for me, sure was convenient. Now that I think about it maybe I was too fast to live the palace. I should have gotten some money of that damned king before I left. Ah I hate that guy! While Amy walked me to the dining room we spoke a little. She told her story on how she became a blacksmith. Apparently she was born in a family of blacksmiths and have watched and helped her father ever since she could remember. And since she was the only child her father started teaching her. She only told me that her mother left them, if she meant that she died or left them for something else, I do not know and am not willing to pry further either. She also told me that there are some smiths that also live here and that¡¯s why they even have a dining room. The master of this place was quite rich it seemed and it only strengthened the stereotype I have of dwarfs as greedy fellows. The breakfast was quite simple with some bread and some kind of soup that didn¡¯t taste so bad. There were more than I thought here eating. The dining room were spacious and there were there rows of tables in a long row. As I was done eating Amy told me that I should go and see the master. She showed me the way to a decorated door with a dragon on it. The dragon this time was of the western lizard type. I wonder if both dragons exist. What I saw when the door opened was a quite big desk with mountains of paper. Behind the papers you could see something moving. - "Hey so this is the new kid you told me about?" - "Yes master. I will take my leave now." - "Yeah, you do so. What¡¯s your name kid?" - "Cardiz sir." When the dwarf asked me for my name he stepped down and walked around the desk. And sure he lived up to everything I knew about dwarf so far. He was short, about 1.2 meters and you could see hick muscles under his clothes. It was a very strange contrast when he was so short. The clothes he wore was some leather pants and a whietish shirt. His face had strong lines and sharp angles. But you almost couldn¡¯t see it because of his beard. It was braided and very impressing. His hair was thick and in an orange color. Yep a truly fine specimen of a dwarf. (AU note: Here you get an image of what he looks like, not really like that but something close to it) Picture of dwarf - "Names Thor, but you will refer to me as master or sir. And it was you who made this sword?" He took out the katana I made from behind the desk. - "Yes sir." - "Where have you learned from and how did you make this?" - "I haven¡¯t really learned or anything but my old man was in the same trade and I helped him out some times and he let me do one thing on my own and I made a katana. That is why I chose to make a katana." - "Hmm so this sword is called katana. I have seen similar sword but only similar. Tell me where it comes from." - "Yes, where I am from, there once were fearless warriors in the east that wielded the katana and a shorter version of it called wakizashi. Unlike from my place where they utilized strength more than skill, the warriors in the east focused on skill and speed." I gave him a short history lesson about my old world and just hoped that he wouldn¡¯t ask too much questions. It would be a pain to answer them without giving away that I am supposedly a hero to save the humans. Lucky for me he didn¡¯t. - "Okay. Although you have a lot to learn I can see that you have some potential. I have decided that I will make you my disciple." A big fat smile escaped my lips. It couldn¡¯t get better. I told him that I would have to go away some times on personal business. It took some while for me to convince him but in the end he agreed. First step in this world a success. Chapter 4 Preparing for a journey Here is a new chapter. I did say in the introduction that I didn''t have a plan on a scheduled release but I still feel like I should release a chapter like once a day or once every two days. It is just that some school projects keeps me from focusing on the story but shouldn''t impact it too much. I would also love it if you could rate and review so that i can fix my story in the aspects that it is lacking and gain more views and followers so that I can add a donation button and get money and hopefully get enough so that I don''t need a job and can just write all day long. Eh sorry i got to full of myelf. But seriously write a review so that i can further improve the story and my writing so that you readers can enjoy it more. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It have been two month since we first came here and I got to say it wasn¡¯t really what I had expected. I first thought that the lessons would be something extraordinary like given a demonstration in how to create a big fire ball and such but I was wrong¡ The first lessons we had was all about basic. The magic lessons were more theory and meditation since we needed to be able to control out mana before we could even use the simples of spells. And not enough with that Julius told me that since there were almost no records on void magic and he didn¡¯t know anybody that could use void magic so I was pretty much on my own. The only thing I could do was to get down the basics in meditation and in mana control and then continue train on my own to develop my own spells. The lessons with Gus was a bit more expected since we all had to build up our basic strength. The things he made us do was running and basic strength training like pushups. After a month of that everyone was a bit more buff or trained at least. After a month he gave us permission to choose a weapon to our liking and said he would start training in what we choose. The retard choose the standard sword, Charles decided for a spear, Becca decided for a chain sickle with a weight on the other end. It was actually quite amazing how she ended up with it. Apparently she lived on a farm in our world and used to play with a lasso on the horses they owned. And when she was out shopping with Louis they decided to visit Hammers Stone where I worked. They were amazed by all the various weapons and she found it in the back stashed away with some of the things that trainees made. When she saw it she almost got a tear in her eyes and only said that it reminded her of home. I offered myself to fix it up for her and she only smiled and said yes. Louis picked bow and arrows. Not surprising considering her nature and personality. As for myself I made my own katana. This is not the one from the test but one of my few successful work. I had gained a lot of tips and experience from master. And I quite enjoyed smiting weapons. It somehow made me feel like I still had a connection to my old man. That made me happy even though he wasn¡¯t very caring about me, but hey, that is what family is I suppose. What Gus taught us wasn¡¯t anything fancy as a special move or anything. Well I expected that it was only the basics he would teach us. And sure as that. He taught us the correct way to hold our weapons, the correct way to swing our weapons and for Louis how to shoot and aim, the correct way to parry and so on. It was all the basics of basics so to say. After a few weeks of that he told us to spar against each other. I won¡¯t get in too much in that since it was just a few amateur fighting each other but the results was quite satisfying. The first spar was me against the retard and I managed to beat him up real good hehehe. It felt really good. He was so stupid too thing the same thing over and over again. I just did a simple counter and that was it. The spar with Becca and Charles was more even as Charles had a hard time getting close but Becca couldn¡¯t do much against Charles either. It ended with Charles winning after he caught her sickle around his spear and pulled it from her. I was sparring against Louis next. She had quite the good aim and was moving around constantly. But sadly that was it. It wasn¡¯t hard for me to dodge her arrows or just simply cut them in two. And I made her surrender by getting in close where she wasn¡¯t very good. The retard and Charles fight turned in to a power struggle but sadly the retard came out winning after Charles stepped on a stone and lost his balance. The retard took the opportunity. Louis managed to win against Becca. While Becca¡¯s attacks were more powerful. Louis just stayed out of her range and continued attacking with her arrows which Becca seemed quite troubled with. My spar against Charles was even but I had the advantage most of the time. My technique was better than his and that was his downfall. Louis managed a draw against the retard. He couldn¡¯t get close to her but she couldn¡¯t do much against him as he kept cutting her arrows. Becca won against the retard. She completely dominated mid-range and when he finally manage to get up close she was waiting for him and managed to trap him in her chain We also had some combined lessons. They were mostly about how we could fuse our magic with our martial art and weapons. When I heard that I thought of a spell of my own. In this time I had only learned one spell which was kind like an inventory in RPG games. I created something like a pocked dimension. The only thing was that I didn¡¯t have enough control over my mana to make it as big as I would like. Right now I managed to make a pocket dimension with a space of 1m3. It sure was helpful but I wanted it a lot bigger. I managed to make some money with my blacksmithing. I often trained with making knifes. If I made weapons they wouldn¡¯t sell since they weren¡¯t good enough but knives was different. They were used by almost everybody and was in quite a high demand. It was also the closest to the katana that I could make almost perfect. But that is not to say that I didn¡¯t make any weapons at all. No I also did a lot of swords, katanas and war axes. This was under masters¡¯ orders so that I could get a good feel for the balance of weapons. Without experience you won¡¯t be any good as they say. I did get to know the others a little better during those two months. Not the retard as I didn¡¯t want anything to do with him. It appears that Charles are from a family that protects the forests in Canada. Louis is from a rich family in USA. A lot of people wanted to get close to her for the money. That¡¯s probably why she is shy yet determined because of her childhood in a rich house. And Becca lived on a farm as I said before. It was quite hard to believe that two months had actually passed since we came here. I had plans on leaving before but I think now is the right time but before that I need to speak with master. I looked for him at his office where he usually was if he were not in the work room. - ¡°Sir, do you have a moment?¡± he looked up on me, noticing the seriousness in my eyes. - ¡°Yes. What have you come for?¡± I was quite nervous about this. The time I had spent here he had treated me very well. I actually liked him quite a lot, that came as a surprise as I noticed it since I usually don¡¯t feel that way about anyone. Sure I could have someone I wanted to help like Becca or like Louis which I just thought was innocent and couldn¡¯t really leave alone. - ¡°I was planning on leaving in a few days.¡± He looked shocked at me. - ¡°Could you tell me why?¡± - ¡°Yes, I want to travel the world. I guess you have noticed that I am connected to the heroes?¡± he had the look like something just fell in the right place. - ¡°Are you sure you don¡¯t want to stay? You have a lot potential to become a top notch blacksmith.¡± - ¡°Yes. This is something I feel like I have to do. But before I leave I would like if you could help me smith a katana that I will take with me on my travels.¡± - ¡°Sure boy.¡± You could see a sad look in his eyes. While I have been learning from him I got to hear why he came to human lands and stay. He had a son that died in some struggle in the dwarven kingdom. His wife passed away long ago and then when his son died he couldn¡¯t live there anymore. He didn¡¯t say what happened and I could see that I shouldn¡¯t ask until he told me himself. I think I have been that he lost, even though we had only known each other for two months. I should let the others know too. And I guess that I also have to tell the king. Uh I don¡¯t think this will go very well. I started making my way to the palace. As I walked towards the gate the guards opened the gate as they knew me. I told them to notify the king that I wished to discuss something with him and the other heroes. I met Becca and Louis on my way to the palace from the gate. They get along well now and you could almost always see them together. - ¡°Hey! This is rare you only come here when we have lessons.¡± Becca was the one who yelled out to me. - ¡°Yeah I have something that I have to tell the king and you guys. Could you look for Charles and the ret¡ ahem Arthur and bring them to the throne room?¡± - ¡°Sure but why?¡± Louis asked curios. - ¡°You will see soon.¡± They both gave me a curios look before they left. While I was wandering around the palace looking for either Julius or Gus, a maid came up to me and said that the king would receive me. Seriously I really hated that king. It¡¯s just his attitude that I just can¡¯t stand. The maid started to lead me to the throne room. As I entered I could see that everyone was her, even Gus and Julius. - ¡°I hear that you wanted to notify me of something. I hope it isn¡¯t anything bad.¡± - ¡°Not really. I am just planning to leave in a few days.¡± This narrative has been purloined without the author''s approval. Report any appearances on Amazon. When I said that they all looked at me confused. They all had a look that was asking why I would want to leave. Louis and Becca looked a bit sad at what I said. - ¡°Why would you want to leave?¡± he asked in a disbelieving voice. - ¡°I wish to travel the world and see it for my own eyes. And I have already learnt pretty much everything I could here since there is nobody that can help me with my void magic. And the sword practice is just the basics which I have to continue to train. Gus said so himself that we should use the basics he taught us to further develop our own style. As I see no meaning in continue to stay here I will take my leave to gain experience.¡± I said this in a confident voice that wouldn¡¯t give any room for him to argue. - ¡°But we need your help to fight the demons!¡± He yelled out. - ¡°That is also why I wish to travel. From what I know humans are always at fault somehow and I wish to confirm why I am fighting against them and even if I should fight for the humans.¡± He looked dumbfounded at me as did everyone else in the room. I guess they all thought I was crazy to even say something like that in front of the king. - ¡°I just came here to inform you since I thought you should know because you are the ones that brought me here with no way back.¡± I reminded him of that so he would feel some guilt if he had any feelings. I said what I have come here to say and started to walk out not giving a shit about all the eyes that waned me dead. Not surprising since I just walked out on their king and didn¡¯t respond blindly to the ¡°duty¡± that I have been given according to them. When I got back to the smithy, I started to talk to master about the katana. We talked about the materials, designs and temperature it should be heated in and so on. We decided that we should make it tomorrow as it was starting to get late. I went to bed and felt good to get a good bi of sleep. I woke up and started the day as I normally did with washing up then breakfast and talking to Amy. I told her that I was probably leaving tomorrow and she seemed very sad. I had grown quite fond of her in the two months I have been here. I almost see her as a sister. Who would have though right? I have gained quite a bit relationships in two month when I had none in a few year in my old world. Life didn¡¯t seem as meaningless now. After breakfast I met up with master as we were going to start making the katana. We decided on obsidian as the material. It was a very rare kind of metal that was very precious to smiths. I was quite surprised when master told me about using it. I had design ready on a paper that we drew yesterday. Master was going to do most of the work but I would do the parts where I felt confident that I wouldn¡¯t mess up. It took 13 hours of work with no pauses to complete the katana. (AU Note: I don¡¯t really have a clue how it works and so I won¡¯t do a half assed attempt to describe the process. If anyone have accurate knowledge how a katana is forged and give me the description (not in a 1000 + essay) I will see if I can update this chapter) The katana was one of the coolest weapons I have seen. It came out a masterwork, at least that what it felt like. The katana was completely black in color because of the obsidian. On the blade was pattern that looked like thornvines twirling and snaring, it was gold colored and the contrast was breathtaking. The guard was also black with the golden pattern of the thornvine, it was slightly curved downwards. The length of the katana was one and a half meter. I wanted it a bit longer so that I would get a bigger reach. I got to be honest here, most of the work was done by master but I still did some parts. (Au Note: Here is an image of what it looks like but a little diffrenet) Katana image - ¡°So what should we name this little fella?¡± Master looked very proud and satisfied. - ¡°Hm how about Black Thorn?¡±I suggested after the pattern it had. - ¡°Not bad. Black Thorn it is. This little fella came out pretty good. It is actually one of my better works.¡± - ¡°I will go and have someone I know make a scabbard for it. You just take the rest of the day off and rest.¡± I didn¡¯t mind as I was starving. I thought of eating at some restaurant so I went out and started looking around. To my big surprise I ran in to Becca, Louis and Charles. - ¡°Hi! What are you doing out here?¡± Becca called out and asked curious. - ¡°I just finished making my katana with master. We worked quite a while and now I am hungry so I thought of getting something to eat.¡± - ¡°I know a pretty good place that has a very good steak.¡± This time it was Charles that spoke. I was a little surprised. I hadn¡¯t gotten to know him very well since he was mostly with the retard which I tried to avoid. I didn¡¯t have anything against Charles or anything. - ¡°Yeah that is a good idea. How about we all go and eat together?¡± Louis proclaimed with a bright smile. It didn¡¯t really matter for me and who knows it could be a bit fun. I should also give them some tips. - ¡°Sure.¡± Charles led us to a restaurant called The weeding bloom which I thought was quite a strange name. The inside gave off a cozy feeling. We sat down at a table and started order when the maid came to us. I took the steak that Charles mentioned before. - ¡°Are you really leaving?¡± Louis asked out of nowhere. - ¡°Yes there is nothing left for me here. I also think you should stop trusting the king so unconditionally.¡± They all looked at me for an explanation. - ¡°Do you really think you should trust some guy that want you to fight for them in a war when he just kidnapped you?¡± Now they all looked confused. Seriously couldn¡¯t they think about it for themselves? - ¡°Okey then can you please tell me the difference from what the king did and if someone grabbed you from the street and put you in the van. When you get out of the van in the middle of nowhere with no clue of where you are the man that just grabbed you says that he loves you or something and that with time you will feel the same way.¡± They all took a little time to think about it. At the same time our orders came. And the steak really looked delicious. - ¡°When you put it like that I guess that there really isn¡¯t much of a difference.¡± Becca finally came to the conclusion. The other two looked at her not sure what to think. - ¡°What should we do then?¡± Charles asked. - ¡°The first thing you guys can do is to not be so trusting in the king and the royal family. Not all of them are bad I guess but I am sure that some of them only see you as sacrificial pawns for the war.¡± - ¡°I also suggest that you stay with them and take them up on their hospitality as much as you can before going travel yourself. Learn everything you can about magic from Julius. That is also one of the reasons that I will leave since there is nobody to teach me any void magic I don¡¯t have any reasons to stay here. I gave them some of my opinions on what options they have and what I think that they should do. Hmm I seem awfully nice today, I wonder why. The rest of the meal we just discussed some random stuff like how hard Gus training was and such. When I finally got back to my home during these two months I was greeted by master. - ¡°Sir have you acquired the scabbard from your friend? - ¡°Yes and I also have a little present for you.¡± He unsheathed the sword, and when I took a closer look, the patterns on the guard where glowing slightly red. I wondered what it was but before I could ask him. - ¡°My friend that made the scabbard is also an enchanter. This sword has been enchanted so that will almost always stay sharp so that you don¡¯t have to worry about sharpening. it has also been enchanted with extra durability and should be quite hard to break.¡± I was shocked to say the least. Who would have thought that the strict master would give me such a wonderful gift? - ¡°Thank you so much sir.¡± I said as I went to him and hugged him which shocked both him and me. My body reacted kinda on its own. I was laying in my bed excited, thinking about everything that had happened during the two months here. Maybe it wasn¡¯t so bad in this world after all. Was the last thing I remember before drifting off to sleep. Tomorrow my journey would begin. Chapter 5 First kill Hey here is another chapter. I got to say that it has gotten harder to write since I am not as motivated as before but I can guarantee at least one chapter a week and hopefully more. I am planing to run this story on long term and will promise that it will continue unless something unexpected happenes like getting hit by a car or something. The story might be moving slowly but I try to build it up with a solid background so that it will be even better later on. And give me some feedback on the fight scene agaisnt the wolf. It''s my first time writing one so it would be very welcomed with some opinions, but do keep in mind that it was just a wolf and not some god he was fighting. Please rate and review so that I can further improve my story and get more raders. Notify me of anthing you find missing or any mistakes and I will try to fix it. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I was now in front of master and the other heroes. For some reasons they have decided to come and say goodbye. I actually surprised it went this smoothly, I thought the king would throw me in jail or something to keep me from staying. But I suppose that would have looked bad and it might get the others to mistrust him. - ¡°If you ever plan to go to the dwarven kingdom, try to seek out a dwarf with the name Garvin. He will help you out if you mention my name.¡± I was a bit confused but didn¡¯t think much of it. - ¡°Bye and I hope we see you soon.¡± - ¡°Yes good bye and come back soon please.¡± Louis followed up after Becca. - ¡°See ya.¡± Charles said. The retard didn¡¯t say anything but it didn¡¯t really bother me. I wasn¡¯t expecting anything of this from them and it actually felt quite nice for some reason. The only things you could see me carrying was a small backpack and a sword by my side. I didn¡¯t really need much more since the rest was in my dimension pocket. I think I will just name it inventory since this is way too similar to our games. I started walking out from the city gates. One last look at the city and I would be gone. The walls was quite big now that I think of it. Anyways need to move. So where should I head to next? I heard from master that there were a town to the west and further west lies the elven kingdom. I have to admit I am quite excited to see a real elf, so lets go that that way. I need to hunt something for food later too. Awh such a pain. I will just see if I get lucky or I will probably have to go hungry for a while. I do have some provisions but I wanted to spare them for emergency cases. There seems to be no time in my inventory or it doesn¡¯t move at least. I tested by keeping an apple in there for some months and it did not rot in anyway. The forests really are beautiful. Nothing alike the ones in our world. I am certain it has to do with the pollution and that we are cutting everything down. I have seen some strange birds on my way nothing much but they seem different, intelligent is what I see when I look at them. Mostly they just sit in the trees and watching. I also saw one or two rabbits with horns. This really is a fantasy world. I keep forgetting that. According to the map that I got from Gus it should be some hours before I reach the town. As I looked at the map I heard a low growling noise. I directly looked up from the map and got my sword ready. I am not gonna lie here but I am seriously nervous now. I kept looking around ready for anything that might come at me. When I looked at a pretty big bush I saw a pair of glowing eyes just in time to dodge the beasts attack. Damn that was close!! Is what I want to shout out but I am not that stupid. It might just attract more beasts. The beast that attacked me looked like a wolf but it was bigger and very much meaner looking than what I know of. It was the size of a pony if not a little smaller. The fur was black and almost seemed to sparkle, there was some with lines streaming alongside the sides of the wolf. Again it seemed very intelligent if you compare it to your normal wolf. Not that I have ever seen a normal wolf. The wolf just stood there gazing at me with red eyes that was inspecting me. It felt like they could see right through me. - ¡°There is no chance that you could let me go is there?¡± I asked still knowing that it was quite stupid. - ¡°Grrrrrwwwrrw¡±. Did it just respond?? Nah it couldn¡¯t be or could it? Correct me if I am wrong but it almost seem to be mocking me. As I thought that the wolf suddenly leaped forward against me. I put up my katana in front of me and stepped to the side out of his charge by a hair breath. It was all a pure reflex that Gus had drilled in to us and I sure as hell is glad for that. It turned around looking at me with angry eyes. Probably thinking that its dinner shouldn¡¯t avoid or something. While it leaped charged again I did the same thing but this time knowingly and managed to slash at the wolf. Too bad that I just scratched it. If the wolf was angry before he was now furious. He charged forward again and I was just about to do the same thing when suddenly his claws grew and he turned against me as I stepped to the side. I blocked with my katana but was still thrown back. As I hit a tree and I felt the pain spreading in my back but I didn¡¯t have time to think about it as the wolf was charging against me. I stepped up and just as it jumped at me with its fangs out I cut down with my katana. This time I got it and the blood was flying out. The charge still threw me back against the tree, that was how powerful it was. I felt the pain as I was looking around and saw the wolf with a cut in its head. Have you ever seen those movies that they just cut things clean in half? Well that is just a load of bullshit. The cut was barely enough to reach its brain. Uuuhhh all this was freaking disgusting. I had blood on my face and on my clothes, and to my side there is a big wolf with a cut in its head so you could see the brain. I will have to get used to his, if I ever will. It looks like I don¡¯t have to worry about food anymore. There were still some hours before it got dark and the town was only about three hours if I read the map correctly so I decided to take a break after the fight and have some barbeque. I started preparing the wolf by skinning it. Learned a thing or two from the tailor shop when I was in the city, but sadly enough nothing could prepare me for the skinning of a real animal. I felt really grossed out when I took my knife and started skinning the fur. I thought it might come in handy when I reach the town. Who knows maybe I could get a pair of extra clothes now that my own have blood on them. The wolf tasted really good I have to say. It is not the taste that you get at a restaurant. It¡¯s the taste you get when you eat your own cooking. It might not be good but it still taste great. Not that I am a bad cook, I did cook for myself and my old man all the time after all. The meat was though but it kinda tasted like chicken. (AU Note: I couldn¡¯t help myself hehehe. PS if you don¡¯t get it nvm) After eating and packing my stuffs I got back on track. It took me about 4 hours to reach the town. It seems that I got a little off track but I still found my way. What met me as I got closer to the town was a small little queue. It seemed like an inspection by the guards. - ¡°Hey, is there any reason for this inspection?¡± I asked the man who was last in the line. - ¡°No they just do that every day. Ask what you are doing here and such¡± the random man answers. I stood quietly and just waited for my turn. Nothing really happened and most just took a couple of minute to enter. - ¡°So what are you here for?¡± A guard asked me with a tired expression. - ¡°I am just passing by and will spend a few nights before heading out. I would also like to register at the adventure guild.¡± - An adventurer huh? Very well move on. It really was easy to get in. You might wonder if the city didn¡¯t have an adventurer guild. It does but I didn¡¯t want to register there in case the king had told someone to watch. Even if he could do the same here the chance is smaller. But on to the first thing I have to do. Find an inn. If you come across this story on Amazon, it''s taken without permission from the author. Report it. You could see that that the town reminded of the city but a level lower you might say. I was walking around and just looking while keeping an eye out for a good inn. I found a weapon shop and went in to take a look but it pales in comparison to masters¡¯ work. It seems like he really was a master smith after all. While still looking around and the sun about to set, I finally found a somewhat ¡°clean¡± looking inn. The others I have come upon was just a dirty bar with some rooms on the floor above. Still this one wasn¡¯t much different to the others but it looked cleaner. At the counter was a woman in her 40s I would guess. I walked up to her. - ¡°Hello, I would like a room please.¡± - ¡°How many nights? One night is 7 copper one meal included. Ten copper for breakfast.¡± - ¡°Three nights then.¡± I said and handed her 30 copper coins. She gave me a key with the number 26 on. - ¡°The room is upstairs and just come down if you are hungry. Breakfast counts until ten.¡± That is something I have just notice. Everyone seems to know what the time is when they have no watch or anything. Truly mysterious. I suppose it could have to do something with magic but it seemed unlikely. The room was quite normal and there is not much to say about it. There is a bed, drawer, mirror and a little wardrobe. Since I was quite exhausted from the fight with the wolf both physical and mentally, I just decided to go to sleep. I was downstairs eating breakfast and believe me I sure as hell didn¡¯t expect that they had pancakes. Of course I ordered some. After I was done eating I will go and see if I can get registered at the adventure guild. No that it should be a problem. The building for the guild was huge. And I don¡¯t mean it like it is huge in the fancy palace style but more of a surprised that it is a house style. It was almost as big as a four story apartment house in my own world and it actually looked decent. I had expected something like a little rundown building with a lot of drunken adventurers. Guess I should try to stop judging things. The insides reminded a lot of the inn. There obviously was a bar and besides it there was a counter for official business I guess. The woman at the counter looked to b quite young she was definitely very beautiful. - ¡°Hello I would like to register as an adventurer.¡± - ¡°Sure. If you could fill in the information on the paper you are able to start out as an E ranked adventurer. The rankings go from E-A where E is the lowest. Above A there is S, SS and SSS which are special rankings. If you would like a higher rank to start with you will have to take a test to see if you are capable.¡± - ¡°That is okay I will start with an E rank.¡± I didn¡¯t want to reveal too much of myself. That would make everything I have planned much harder. I filled in the information and she said that it would take some time to get my identification is ready. So I decided to go around town and see if there is anything interesting I walked around and sure, almost everyone was wearing a weapon. That is very unusual from my perspective but then again I am from another world. I noticed a stall that sold some accessories. But what really caught my eye as a bracelet with a very special design. It was three bands pitch black, connecting all of them was something like a black circle that almost shined white at the edges. There were two dragons slingiring around the lower and upper band. The upper dragon was black while theundefinedlower was withe. (AU Note: Think of something of a combination between these two pictures with the added description and it will look something like I imagind.) Bracelet modell, Black circle image - ¡°Hey, where did you get this?¡± I asked while pointing at the bracelet. - ¡°Some adventure sold it to me and said he found it in some ruins. It thought it would sell but strangely nobody has ever given it a look. I will give it to you for 1 gold coin.¡± - ¡°Isn¡¯t that quite a lot for something nobody noticed?¡± - ¡°Yea, maybe but I bought it from him for 10 gold thinking it would sell and hey I gotta make a living.¡± - ¡°¡Alright I will buy it¡± I could feel something from the bracelet but thought nothing of it. I said that I had some money from the work as a smith, it ended up to around 10 g. I gave him the money and put on the bracelet. It gave off a feeling of connection not that I know why. I went back to the guild to get my identification since some time has passed. - ¡°Here you go.¡± She gave me a necklace with something that looked like a dogtag that the army had. With name and rank. - ¡°Now don¡¯t lose it. It will cost 50 silver for making a new one. - ¡°Yes thank you. Could you also see If there are any request for a caravan or someone where you head west against the elven kingdom? I will come tomorrow for the information if that is okay.¡± - ¡°I can do that for you.¡± I was now back at the inn eating dinner. The food was pretty good.as I was eating some rough looking people entered. I kept an eye on them since they were probably up to no good. You know the movies where you see some guys enter and you just know that they are ad people. That is what was going on. They sat down and kept looking at me. One of them suddenly stood up and started walking over here. - ¡°Hey kid that sure is a nice looking sword you have there. And here I am using a old sword that is barely keeping up. You don¡¯t mind if you give it to me do ya?¡± he said with a very mean looking face. I considered my option. There really only was one option to this situation. I stood up and as he was looking very proud of himself thinking he succeeded I punched out knocking him to the floor as he landed I kept on with kicking him until he lost conscious. So much for a big mugger. Everyone was looking at me, his companions looked like their jaws had gone missing. - ¡°What!? He was trying to rob me and should be lucky to keep his life.¡± That seemed to scare the others from his group as they just dragged the guy I just decked out with the tail between their legs. I won¡¯t lie but that felt really good. - ¡°That was so cool. They really deserved that.¡± I looked at the one talking. It was the waitress. - ¡°It was nothing. They should learn to pick their targets.¡± - ¡°I¡¯m Mei. My mother is the owner of this inn.¡± - ¡°Cardiz, just a travelling adventure.¡± I said as I was starting to head back to my room. I didn¡¯t really want to make a much bigger deal of this than it already was. The night cam and I succumbed to the darkness. Chapter 6 Trouble Another chapter. There are some mature content in this chapter. The mature content part is marked with red text so if you don''t want to read it just scim through it. It doens''t really matter if you read that part. I would like opinions on the mature part if it was good. I will say this "I have never written anything like that before okey?" So it would be good with some opinions so that i can make a more exotic scene next time. I also changed a small part about the demi-humans in chapter 1. It said that they live everywhere, now they have their own territory and live in small groups. This is all for plot sake. And please do rate and review so that I can further improve my story. If you find any mistakes just say it and I will fix it. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- After waking up I headed down for breakfast. This time most of the people that was in the room looked at me with a hint of fear in their eyes. Mei the waitress from yesterday came over and took my order like it was nothing, she even looked quite happy to see me. When she came back with my pancakes she didn¡¯t leave and just sat down. I didn¡¯t really mind but still reacted a little to it. I ignored her and stated eating but she just kept starting at me, it was kinda freaky. - ¡°What is it? Do I have something on my face?¡± I asked while still eating. - ¡°Who are you really and why are you so strong?¡± - ¡°I told you yesterday that my name is Cardiz and that I am a travelling adventurer.¡± I couldn¡¯t really tell her that I was a hero that didn¡¯t want to help the king after he kidnapped me. - ¡°But that can¡¯t be all can it?¡± She was quite sharp, but then again I guess it wasn¡¯t so hard to figure out. - ¡°And why should I tell you anything about me?¡± I was done eating and started heading out of the inn. She didn¡¯t pursue me or anything and just looked as I was leaving the inn. I decided to look around some more while I was still here. I was quite interested in their religion. It was quite a big deal since from what I know it was always trouble and only cased war and death. I asked around on the street if there was any church. And of course there was. I got the directions and started heading over to where the church should be. The church was also quite big but not as big as the guild. The building however was way more solid than the guild. It was built completely with white stones. The shape of the building was something like a combination between the classic churches of Christianity and the Synagogues with both the sharp roofs and the round ones. There were big windows that was crystal clear and you almost couldn¡¯t see them. There were multiple statues of some kind of being that looked human. And just in the staircase that went to the entrance of the temple was a much bigger statue that looked like a beautiful woman. The statues split the staircase in two. I started walking to the entrance when someone came up to me. I guess he was a priest here. - ¡°Hello, what can I help you with?¡± - ¡°Oh I just wanted to know more of the religion here. I am a travelling adventurer from afar and just thought I should know more of the places that I visit.¡± - ¡°If that is the case please let me enlighten you. We serve the goddess Chauntea. She is the goddess of all humans. A part of the reason with the war against the demons is because their god Cyric and our goddess are on bad terms. It is said that Chauntea loves all life while Cyric favor murder, war, lies and chaos.¡± What a shocker I thought. - ¡°Could you tell me about the other gods for the other races?¡± might as well get as much as possible out of him. - ¡°Sure but why do you need to know to them when our goddess is Chauntea?¡± - ¡°I don¡¯t mean anything bad by this but I don¡¯t really pray to any god. My belief is that no god will ever help you so why should we pray to them? And it would be good to know about all the gods so that I don¡¯t anger anyone with a misunderstanding.¡± He looked a bit angry for what I said but still continued. - The elves have three gods and it is said that they have the traits of their gods. The high elves for example have greater magic since their god is Mystra goddess of magic and spells. The wood elves god is Silvanus. He governs the nature. Dark elves serve Selune, goddess of the moon and the night. She doesn¡¯t favor magic as much as the other two but instead they are blessed with stronger bodies. And make excellent warriors.¡± - ¡°Wait why do the elves have three god?¡± - According to the story when the god created their beings three siblings decided to make a race together but since they couldn¡¯t fit all they want into one being they decided to make versions of the being so as when they cooperate they resemble the being that they tried to create. Okey this was quite strange. But sure I guess if they are gods they can do such stuff. But is there a heaven for gods like in our world? - ¡°Where does the gods exist?¡± - ¡°In the plane of immortality of course. Really you must not have been in touch with much civilization if you don¡¯t know this.¡± - ¡°No I was raised in the mountain far from here with no other contact than my father.¡± I didn¡¯t really lie. It was just a different world instead of a mountain. - ¡°So what about the other gods?¡± - ¡°The demi-humans god is a bit special. According to their history their god is Lord Ao. He had many beasts that he loved so much that when he was creating his being he made them in the images to his beasts. That is why they have both animal parts and monster parts on their bodies and their abilities differ so much. The dwarfs are also a little special. They have no records of any god from what we know but they do seek protection from some dragon that according to them a dwarf managed to fight alone against and make it a draw. The dragon was impressed and promised to take care of the dwarves that live close to his nest. The word spread and soon they created their kingdom around the nest of the dragon. That is also why there has never been a war with the dwarves.¡± This was quite a lot to take in but still very valuable. I didn¡¯t want to go to the dwarven kingdom and wake the sleeping dragon so to say. - ¡°Thank you. I have learned much. I will have to take my leave now but yet again thank you.¡± Best to be humble with those in religion if you don¡¯t want to be burned with a stake in your heart right? (AU Note: Referring to the witches in case if that was hard to understand. Not saying I am an expert on these things.) - ¡°You welcome, and may Chauntea guide you.¡± I was done with the priest and to my surprise we chatted for quite some time. It was already just before dinner time. I should go back and get something to eat. As I was heading back I noticed the thugs I put down before. They were ganged up in a circle. I thought it suspicious and closed in on them. It looked very much like a rape scene and let me say that I am not very fond of it. Men that rape should be castrated and put in a cell for a very long time. When I got closer I noticed Mei through a crack in the circle. Don¡¯t tell me they are ganging up on her because of what I did? Guess they really have to learn the hard way. - ¡°Hey! What are you doing!?¡± they all turned around and looked at me. There was 13 of them. I recognized three from before when I put down the wild dog and I guess they recognized me sine they looked scared. - ¡°Don¡¯t try to be a hero you will only get hurt!¡± the one who looked like the leader shouted out. - ¡°So I guess that you are ganging up on one little girl. How brave of you.¡± I mocked them. It wasn¡¯t really hard since they all started cursing at me. The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident. The leader looking guy walked forward and took out his sword. If there are 13 men ganging up on one little girl I guess they won¡¯t complain if I get a little serious. I readied myself for an iai slash. - ¡°If you only had not interfered you wouldn¡¯t have to get hurt!¡± He shouted at me with a menacing grin on his face. I didn¡¯t bother with him and only focused on the reach of my katana. As soon as he was in my reach I slashed at him. I was quite fast if I had to say so myself and it took a while for him to realize that hand holding the sword was on the ground and had been cleanly severed. He started shouting. The others just looked at their leader with a dumb face. Since they all were a part of this I started cut off hands from the other bandits looking guys too. They didn¡¯t realize what was going on until I had cut off three hands. They all started fleeing immediately and I didn¡¯t bother chasing them because I think they have learnt their lesson. I turned around to Mei and saw her kneeling and shaking with tears flowing out of her eyes. She had some blood on her clothes but otherwise she seemed fine. - ¡°Are you okey?¡± she jumped at me and I welcomed her with open arms. She started crying out loud while hugging me. We stayed like that for a while before heading to the inn. While at the inn eating Mei told me everything that happened. She was just out buying ingredients. On her way home the thugs that was here before noticed her and they started ganging up on her saying she should follow them. That is when I showed up. She was still sitting with me as I was eating and talked about her life and stuff. I just listened mostly and answered some of her questions that didn¡¯t reveal anything about me. She asked me how I could just cut down someone¡¯s hand in cold blood. I answered with that it was either kill or be killed and that I was still a little grossed out by things like that but was trying to adapt or get used to it. It was quite late and I was heading upstairs. Strangely enough Mei was still following me. When I was about to go through the door Mei was still there and looked quite red in the face. - ¡°I-i-is it okey if I sleep with you?¡± she asked very nervous. I was seriously shocked here. I mean I was a virgin in my old world and never really thought of starting a relationship like that or anything. But here in this world just after two months or something there was already a girl asking me if she could sleep with me. This didn¡¯t come close to anything that I have done before. - ¡°Ehm if you really want to sure.¡± Hell yeah! I wasn¡¯t going to turn down something like this. We walked in and she started to undress. She was wearing something like a medieval bra and gosh was she beautiful. She seemed really nervous so I started to take the lead. I walked around her so that her back was against. I placed my hand on her shoulders to try to loosen her up. Slowly I was making my way to her breast and started fondling them. She started moaning. I guess it¡¯s her first time too. We moved on to the bed while I was still fondling her right breast while my left hand was going down towards her other part. As I stared touching her she let out a little shriek. She was so innocent. I started to undress myself while still fondling her parts. She was getting really wet and I think it is about time I pulled of her panties gently and started kissing her while we lay naked on the bed. It¡¯s time I think I started to guide my little john to the tunnel and it was going in smoothly first before it got tight. I was keeping still as she was moaning quite load now. I started to move and she seemed to feel really good. This really was a bliss. When I woke up I saw Mei hugging using my arm as a pillow. Shook her gently to wake her up. - ¡°Hey don¡¯t you have to help out downstairs?¡± I said with a teasing voice. She almost jumped out of the bed completely naked at what I said. She was so innocent it was really cute. I really liked her. Who would have thought that I would ever feel this way for someone? While I was ordering my breakfast downstairs from Mei, I could see that she got red as soon as she saw me. I think her mother noticed that because she was glaring daggers at me. I ordered my pancakes as usual and Mei came and sat down. We decided to have a little date in the town as soon as I was done and she got back to work after that. Not long after her mother came and sat down. I am going to be honest here, I was a bit nervous and scared as I just had taken her daughter for myself. - ¡°First I would like to thank you for saving my daughter.¡± - ¡°Don¡¯t mention it. It was the natural thing to do.¡± She looked at me like she was inspecting what I was made of. - ¡°So what do you think of her?¡± I was a little startled by the question. - ¡°She is very beautiful and so innocent that it is cute. I think I really like her.¡± Better to be honest here. I have heard that women has very sharp instincts. Especially mothers. - ¡°Hm, is that so? Tell me you are an adventurer right?¡± - ¡°Yes, I was planning to stay a few days here before moving on. I will probably leave tomorrow.¡± - ¡°You know her dad was an adventurer too. He died on those silly request when Mei was two years. I hope you don¡¯t make the same mistake.¡± She said and left me to finally eat in peace. Sadly that didn¡¯t last very long. Soon after some guards walked in. they looked around and when they noticed me the started walking. It¡¯s probably about the thugs from yesterday. - ¡°We would like you to come with us.¡± One of the guards with finer armor said - ¡°Why?¡± I simply asked already knowing why. - ¡°We have to take your statement of what happened yesterday.¡± - ¡°Could I at least finish my pancakes?¡± He looked at me a little troubled. - ¡°Fine.¡± After I finished my pancakes the guards led me to some building right beside the entrance to the town. I guess this was the guards¡¯ headquarters. I was made to sit down at a table and wait. After a few minutes some guy that looked important walked in and sat down just opposite to me. - ¡°So can you tell us who you are and why you did what you did?¡± - ¡°My name is Cardiz. I just became an adventurer, before that I lived with my father at some mountain with no people around. My father passed away and I decided to travel the world. One of their friend tried to rob me of my sword so I beat him down, nothing too serious but he ended up unconscious. Then I noticed his friends surround the girl that is a waitress at the inn where I beat their friend. To me it looked like they were gonna rape here so I interfered. Then whom I assumed was their leader walked to me with his sword drawn so I decided to get a little serious and cut off his hand. I cut off some more before they realized what was going on and fled.¡± The man looked at me trying to judge if I told the truth. - ¡°If you don¡¯t believe me you can ask Mei, she is the waitress I talked about.¡± That seemed to do the trick. - ¡°Thanks, we will let you go but please try to stay out of trouble. And don¡¯t go around cutting off limbs.¡± I think I noticed a hint of delight in his voice. I guess the thugs were a pain in the ass. After the interrogation, Mei was waiting for me at the inn ready for our date. Mei showed me around town to places that I hadn¡¯t been before. We ate some snacks that were delicious. I asked Mei if we could go to the library which she said was no problem. I wanted to see if there was any information on void magic or anything like it. I wasn¡¯t really expecting to find anything but still wanted to check. Mei helped me to look for anything until it got pretty late and we decided to head back. I didn¡¯t find anything which was as suspected or it would have been too easy. Nothing happened on the way back and Mei decided to sleep with me again but nothing happened. Chapter 7 Bandits Sorry for a late chapter but some things have happened in real life. I have quit college and are looking for a job. (It is at that level of college education in USA, in swedish it is directly translated to high school but the level is college.)(And yes I am from Sweden) I am going on a vaccation with my family tomorrow, I will try to write some chapter since I probably have nothing else to do eitherway. The release of them will be on new year as a little present for you guys. I alsot feel like it is better to write when i feel like I am motivated to it instead of forcing myself since the quality will probably drop otherwise. This chapter was a bit hard to write and I am not really sure how good it is compared to the others but PLEASE do comment, rate and review so that I can further improve the story for you to enjoy. PS: I will remind you that this story is planned in a long term and something that I write as a hobby. If there is more intrest in it I will try to get a premanent release schedule. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is my last meal at the inn before I continue my journey. I still wen with pancakes for it, I mean who doesn¡¯t love pancakes? Mei was a bit down because I was leaving but I told her that I will be back someday. And who knows, if she haven¡¯t found any lover we might go out. But that is for later. I have pretty much everything prepared. All that is left is too see what request the woman found for me at the guild. Done with my meal I directly head out to the guild. The streets were quite busy despite that it was quite early in the morning. I walked up to the same woman that helped me before. Dunno if they have an organized system so that I could talk to someone else but better to be sure right? - ¡°So did you find any request fitting what I was looking for?¡± - ¡°Yes, there is a caravan that is heading in that direction. Their destination is the last town before the elves kingdom, Writhf. They are requesting some adventurers to guard them on the way.¡± - ¡°Okey, how many have accepted the request?¡± - ¡°There are ten people including you. They are gathering at the west gate and will depart in an hour.¡± - ¡°Thank you.¡± This was quite good. The only thing I would have to do is defend against beasts and bandits and it is not sure that anything happens on the way either. The introductions at the west gate was quite brief and nothing special. There seems to be some strong people but no one overwhelming. I got the information that it would take about two weeks of travel to Writhf. That is like a whole vacation back home. But I suppose that is normal since there is no planes or cars or any vehicle at all. Only caravans drawn by various beasts. This one had the normal horses that was drawing it. Finally on the way. We were travelling at walking speed. The caravan didn¡¯t seem to be in any hurry and they were not rich enough to give everyone a horse. We stopped and set up camp when it got dark. A few were keeping watch in case something happened. Nothing happened on the first few days since we set out but on the sixth day while I was sleeping I woke up due to someone screaming. When I looked out of the tent I saw that we were being attacked by bandits. - ¡°Everybody gather at the caravan!!¡± someone yelled out. I quickly took my katana and headed to the caravan. We were protecting it in a circle with the few who were left. I saw a bandit running towards me with a sword over his head. I quickly sidestepped and slashed right across his chest. My first slain human. It was a disgusting feeling but at the same time I understood that it was either kill or be killed. The other were fighting a bandit each some were struggling more than others. The next bandit came running towards me and I parried his blow. The small recoiled from the blows gave me the opening to pierce his chest which I took. Two down and who knows how many to go. Just as I was thinking that one bandit came right beside me. He killed the one standing beside me and was heading for me next. His blade was heading for my head and just before it was going to hit I manage to duck. I saw my chance and slashed against his legs, quickly pulling back and then once again slashing down at the now crawling bandit. But just before I was going to hit I felt something hard against the back of my head and my conscious faded. I started to regain my awareness and felt a massive pain in the back of my head. Slowly raising my upper body I noticed that there were others near me. Once I started looking around I saw that I was looked inside a room with others. - ¡°Where am I?¡± I blurted out with a pained voice. - ¡°You are finally awake. You were captured by bandits and are now in their base.¡± A voice that only could belong to a kid answered. - ¡°Who are you?¡± my pain was a lessened a bit and my voice started to turn back to normal. - ¡°My name is Eleena, and I was captured just like you.¡± I could now look at the one who was speaking to me. It was a kid around 12 years. Blonde hair small build and beautiful blue eyes. The most surprising part was that the ears was not normal looking. They were longer and pointe right out. - ¡°Are you an elf by any chance?¡± That was the first thing I said after looking at the girl. - ¡°Yes, I am a high elf and was kidnapped around the border.¡± Now that I looked around I saw that not all were humans. There were quite a few with animal parts. I guess they are the demi-humans. But still they do really come in all shapes. There were a male adult with the normal dog ears and tail that you saw in manga and anime. Then the next one was a woman around 30 that had a pair of wings on her back with black hair and claws for hands. But by no means was she ugly. Next to her was a girl in her teenage with silver hair. She had both tail and ears in the same color. But she also had something that looked like fur on her arms. And that was just a few. - ¡°You all were kidnapped?¡± I asked already knowing the answer. What I needed now was information. - ¡°Yes, we are to be sold as slaves to some human. We all were kidnapped or attacked and was captured.¡± The dog man answered with a husky voice. I took in his words and started thinking of a way out. If possible I also wanted to help hem since I really hate slavery. I mean slavery only exist because others think that they are above other people or because they are a bit different and such not as worthy as themselves. And by such logic everyone would be enslaved. Think about it if you have to different humans with different hair colors they are not regarded as slaves, but when you have in this case a demi-human that looks just like the other girls with the same hair color but with beast ear instead they will be treated as a slave. And this is just a poor example. I noticed after some time that my katana also was gone. A bit worried since it was very precious to me. - ¡°Do you know where my belongings are?¡± - ¡°They store everything in one of their warehouses.¡± The silver demi-human answered. I guess that they have been here for quite some time since they knew where they stored everything that they stole. - ¡°Do you know how many of them there are?¡± I was thinking of a way out. I was certain that I could escape by myself, but to help the ones here I need to plan a bit more. If there were not too many I might b able to kill them and then set everyone free. If there was too many it would become much harder too free everyone. - ¡°I think that there are about 50 of them.¡± The dogman answered with a bit of hope in his voice. I guess they were starting to get that I was about to flee. That was a bit more than I would like but it would still be doable. - ¡°Is there anyone with fighting experience here?¡± I would like to have some more if we were going to kill them. The result was quite good. The dogman said that he was a warrior and the silver girl also spoke up and said that she could help. There were two more human males that also said that they had some experience. With this we had a little group of five including me. It was possible that we could kill them but it will be difficult. I started to explain to them what I was thinking of doing. First things first. I needed to get back my katana. So our first target was the warehouse where they stored everything. It would also help to give the others weapons so that we could give them a fight. The entirety of the plan was quite simple. Get the weapons and eventually kill some on the way. After we got weapon we will find a small place where they can¡¯t come with everyone against us. After that we will keep slaughtering them until they are all dead or have given up and fled. - ¡°But how do we get out of here? We have already tried to break through the door but it wouldn¡¯t break.¡± One of the human males said. - ¡°No problem.¡± I simply answered him. I walked up to the door and used my void magic. I created something like a cut but with the void as the blade instead. The result was nothing less than the door giving away and fell to the ground. This was the only improvement with my magic. I meant for it to coat my sword so that I could cut almost everything. To defend against it one would have to have a higher mana pool than me and infuse heir mana to their weapon. I always trained at night when I was under master¡¯s wing and it didn¡¯t stop when I left either. I don¡¯t know if I should be happy or sad that this was my only advancement in magic. The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation. (Au Note: I will use sword instead of katana when I mention Cardiz katana. It just sounds better.) It didn¡¯t seem like anyone noticed that I just broke the door. We quietly made our way to the next door. I listened and could hear two voices on the other side. I sure hope that we won¡¯t be discovered. At least not before we get to the weapons. On my count we rushed in and quickly apprehended the bandits before they could do anything. They didn¡¯t even have enough time to yell out before the dogman and the silver girl punched them unconscious. Their strength seemed to be much greater than your average human. As expected of demi-humans I thought. I quickly went up to them and broke their necks. The others just looked at me with a very surprised look. - ¡°What? They have already killed and if you have killed someone then you can only accept you yourself are going to be killed by someone. No need to show any mercy.¡± This really was my opinion on the take. If you ever kill anyone then you should expect that you yourself will be killed someday. No hard feelings simply an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth noting more and nothing else. This was also my thought in my previous world and I think that was one of the reasons why I didn¡¯t really fit in. - ¡°This is where we will make our stand once we have our weapons. It is small enough to not let more than ten people in at a time.¡± The room was smaller than the one before and was just like one room apartment. There wasn¡¯t much except from a wooden table and a few chairs. There was also only one door and no windows. I checked out the door carefully. To our luck it was dark outside and it didn¡¯t seem like there were many bandits around. Maybe we didn¡¯t have to fight all of them and could simply take out the guards and get some of the horses and leave. I kept it in my mind as we continued forward. The humans seemed to have been here the longest. They knew where the warehouse was and the layout of the bandits headquarter. We quietly followed as they took us around a larger building. It looked like a big house. Just like the ones in Skyrim. We ducked and sneaked past the windows on the house. Inside was a lot of bandits. They seemed to be drinking and wasn¡¯t on guard. We continued forward until we came across something that looked like shed. There were bandits out so if we choose to go through the door to the shed we would be discovered. So I decided to create a little door on the back of the shed. I used my void magic to create three cuts through the wall. It didn¡¯t make much sound but I was still a bit nervous that we would be discovered and casualties was unavoidable. But to our luck nobody reacted to the sound. Inside the shed was a lot of stuff. It took a while to find my sword but it was still found none the less. The others also picked a weapon each. The both of the humans choose a great axe. The dogman picked up a great sword and the silver girl took a longsword. There were a lot of other valuable things here and so I took a moment to gather what looked to be valuable. I stuffed the things I picked in my inventory. I couldn¡¯t take much since my inventory wasn¡¯t very big. - ¡°Do you know where they keep their horses?¡± I asked the humans. - ¡°They are in the middle, between all he building.¡± That makes it a little harder with the plan to escape. - ¡°Do you think we could take out the guards without anyone notice and steal the horses to escape instead? - ¡°It is possible. They have plenty of horses and there are about 20 of us. The only problem is the guards but if we can take them out silently then we have a chance.¡± It was the dogman that replied. - ¡°Let¡¯s do that then. I and silver girl will continue forward and take out the guards that is on the way. You three go back and notify the others. Once we are back we will take out the remaining bandits at the center.¡± - ¡°My name is Laelia, not silver girl.¡± She said with a little angry voice. - ¡°Okey, Laelia lets go. The faster we move the better. We continued forward and dealt with the few guards that we saw. I got to admit that I am quite jealous of the demi-humans inborn strength. Laelia just sprinted forwards and cut the head of from most of the bandits. The few that I took care of was cut clean in half. I didn¡¯t dare to do things half assed so I coated my sword in my void magic. I have decided to name it void cut. Simple but describing. The number of guars outside of the little settlement were only eight. We met up with the others in the building where I first woke up. - ¡°All of the guards outside have been dealt with, the only ones left remaining are the ones near the stable. What we could see there seems to be ten of them.¡± - ¡°Are we really going to escape?¡± the little elf from before asked with a lot of expectations in her voice. - ¡°Yes unless you want to remain here.¡± I teased her a little. - ¡°NO!¡± She almost yelled out. Luckily it wasn¡¯t that loud. We all went out to the next room. It got crowded as there wasn¡¯t much space to begin with. We decided that the five of us would go first and silence the rest of the bandits that were patrolling. I took a quick peak and saw that they weren¡¯t looking this way. This was our chance. I signaled the others to follow me and to choose a target each. I swiftly went up to the bandit and cut his head off with void cut. I didn¡¯t have much time to think as I needed to get the next bandit. I ran up to him and stabbed my sword in his heart before he could notice anything. Just as I looked up too see how the others handled their bandits I saw one of the bandits had noticed and shouted out to the others before one of the humans attacked him with the great axe. I looked around to see if they noticed. And sure one of the bandits had gone out from the room and quickly went back in after he saw us. - ¡°Come on!!! We don¡¯t have much time. They have noticed us!!¡± I yelled out as all of the ones that were left ran out to the stables. Just as they reached the stables the bandits started to run out from the house. - ¡°Laelia! Dogman! Quick help me to keep them busy while the others flee. The rest of you take a horse and stat running! I ordered the others to move. I ran up to the bandits that kept pouring out from the house. I killed of one bandits after another as they came at me. They didn¡¯t have any weapons since they were probably celebrating and drinking in there. It didn¡¯t take much more than one attack to neutralize them. - ¡°We are all done here! Everybody has left it¡¯s only you left!¡± One of the humans yelled out before taking a horse by himself and started to run away. - ¡°Retreat!¡± I called out to Laelia and dogman that reacted to my words and started to run to the horses. I did the same. At the stable I set free all the horse on my way and smacked them with my sword so that they started to run away. I should slow them down enough for us to get away. - ¡°GET THEM!!!¡± Someone yelled out. At the same time I took my own horse and started to run away. We had finally escaped the bandits. I, Laelia and dogaman had reached the others. They all looked at me with thankful and teary eyes. - ¡°Thank you.¡± - ¡°We are very grateful.¡± - ¡°May Chauntea have mercy for you.¡± They all expressed their thanks to me. I didn¡¯t really bother with them as I turned around facing the ones that had helped me with the fighting. - ¡°So what will you do now?¡± I asked out to all of them. - ¡°I and my brother are grateful to you. We will follow the others to a city and make sure they are safe on the way.¡± - ¡°I will follow them. The names Brad and thank you for your help.¡± The dogman said. - ¡°What will you do?¡± a voice from behind said. I turned around and there was the elven girl Eleena staring up at me. - ¡°I am on my way to the elven kingdom.¡± I didn¡¯t really have any reason to hide it. And responded without a second thought. - ¡°E-ehm could I travel with you? I want to go back to my family.¡± Who wouldn¡¯t want to see their family after being kidnapped? - ¡°You can but I will go with my own pace.¡± I did¡¯ have a reason to refuse either. And who know maybe I could get some information from here or some connections with the elves. - ¡°I would also like to come with you. Could I?¡± Laelia blurted out. She seemed to have something that she have to do. You know those that seems to have a purpose or a mission that they have to carry out. - ¡°You can.¡± This really was a good outcome. Two sources of information that is not human. It may really have been good that I was captured by the bandits. As we said out farewell we all split up. I Laelia and the Eleena were heading to Writhf while the others were heading to a nearby village. We also got some directions from them so we knew where we were and where to go. Chapter 8 Writhf Hello and I hope you have had a good christmas. I am back from my vaccation with my family and have managed to put together four chapters for you. I will release two today and two tomorrow cause it would be cool to have chapter release just before the new year and at the start of the new year. I also notced when I read some of the previous chapters that I made a miss in the story. It is nothing big and will not affect the story in anyway but it made me laugh and so I decided to keep it there as an easter egg for you guys. If you find it or anymore like it write a comment about it so that we can laugh about it. If there are some of you that want me to fix it then I will do that. Oh and please do a follow up on your answer above if you want to and send me a pm describing why you thought so. (Not guaranteed I will change anything but still wnated to see what you thought about it) And as I have said before and will continue to say please rate, reviw and comment so that I can further improve my story for you. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We had traveled quite a bit and finally saw a city with big walls. It wasn¡¯t as big as big as Shulveria but it was still a sight nonetheless. On our way I had learned a few things about my new companions. Eleena was a high elf, she lived with her parents in a village close to the border. When she was out in the forest she was kidnapped by the bandits. She was really excited now that she could see her family again. Laelia didn¡¯t say much but kept sneaking glances at me. The little that I got out of her was that she belonged to a clan of silver wolfs. They were born warriors and from an early age they were trained. They viewed strength as beauty. She didn¡¯t say much more. Eleena on the other hand was asking questions about me and try to make some conversations. I told her my name and age. I didn¡¯t say much more about myself. Not like I could tell her that I was a hero summoned by the humans to fight against the demon king and that I didn¡¯t like to be kidnapped and rebelled against the king. Nope that was a no go. We reached the walls and was greeted by a guard who asked us on what purpose we were her. I handed him some silver coins and told him that we were just staying for a few days. He let us pass with a grin on his face and nothing more happened. The city didn¡¯t look as good as Shulveria. The street wasn¡¯t as clean either. I guess that¡¯s what you should expect for rom the city where the royal family lived. You could obviously see that this city wasn¡¯t as rich as Shulveria. We were heading down the street and looking for an inn to stay at. There were some on the way but they didn¡¯t look very nice and so we moved on. We stopped at an inn that had a very periocular name. The Pig Princess, it really was an interesting name. I decided to see if there was any rooms. The inside was like the previous inn I stayed at. I guess that everything was in the same norm, nothing really stood out from others so to say. There were a lot of people her and it looked like it was full but I still decided to try my luck. The one behind the counter was a middle aged woman that had some serious curves. It wasn¡¯t like she was fat or so but she wasn¡¯t small either. - ¡°Hello, do you have any rooms left?¡± - ¡°Howdy, we still have one room left.¡± She said with an amusing voice. She clearly thought that the girls and I were together. I didn¡¯t deny it as they didn¡¯t catch wat the woman meant. - ¡°How big is it?¡± I wasn¡¯t sure that they were willing to sleep in the same bed as me. - ¡°It¡¯s a little bigger than the others and the bed fits two people and there is a couch.¡± - ¡°I¡¯ll take it.¡± I handed her a gold coin and immediately she had a surprised look on her face. - ¡°I would like for meals to be included and consider the rest yours to keep.¡± I was in a good mood and didn¡¯t mind giving her some extra money. We headed up to the room and took a few moment s to settle down before heading back and eating a meal. - ¡°Is there anything that you would like to do while we are here?¡± I wouldn¡¯t ignore my companions now that I had some. Even though I was anti-social I wasn¡¯t a douchebag. - ¡°I would like to see the market.¡± Eleena said while gobbling down her food. I guess she really was a child after all. She just seemed so leveled headed when we were captured. - ¡°I want to see if I can find a weapon more fitting.¡± Laelia followed up. - ¡°So how about we go to the market tomorrow and look for a sword to Laelia. Today we should just rest.¡± They agreed and so it was decided. After escaping it took a day to reach Writhf. Even thought it was just around dinner time we were all exhausted after all we have been through and so rest was very welcomed. As soon as we got to the room we were fast asleep. I took the couch obviously and let the girls have the bed. When I woke up I felt something heavy on my chest. Eleena had apparently moved over to me in the middle of the night. I was quite baffled as I didn¡¯t think such a clich¨¦ would actually happen. I shook her gently to wake her up. - ¡°Morning sleepy head.¡± At my voice she looked up and realized where she was. With beet red cheeks from embarrassment she fell down. - ¡°I- I¡¯m sorry.¡± She said with a meek voice. - ¡°No worries. You just have to say so if you want to sleep with me.¡± I teased her. She got flustered and it was quite cute. Laelia was already up and just staring at us. After the little moment had passed we all headed down for some breakfast. We had decided to go to explore the city as we headed down to the market and see if we could find anything that Laelia liked while we were strolling around. There wasn¡¯t much to see and it almost was like the town that I was to before. There were some merchants that had put up their wares in stalls. You could find almost everything here. There was just too much stuff. We didn¡¯t find anything that we really liked. Though as we strolled around I noticed that there was a big library. I didn¡¯t enter but decided that would spend tomorrow in there. Some hours had passed and we had looked around most of the market. Nothing really caught our eyes and so chose to continue with Laelia¡¯s wish. We entered an armory. I could quickly see that most of the wares here were of low quality and I could probably make something of a much higher quality. Hm they must have a blacksmith in this city as it is quite big. I wonder if I could borrow it. We looked around a little but there really only was low quality stuff. I went up to the clerk. - ¡°Excuse me but could you tell us where the blacksmith is?¡± He looked a little grumpy at me but still told us the location. While we walked to the blacksmith I guess that the girls couldn¡¯t keep their curiosity. - ¡°Why did you ask for the blacksmith instead of another armory shop?¡± It was Laelia hat asked. - ¡°Because I know some blacksmithing and can produce higher quality items compared to th shop that we just visited. I thought that I could make you something instead. That way you can get the things that most suits you. Even tailor-made just for you.¡± They both looked very surprised when I mentioned that I knew blacksmithing. We reached the blacksmithing store. It was a big building where you could hear metal clashing.it wasn¡¯t very loud but you could still hear it. You could really feel the heat coming from inside. And when we entered it was really hot. An old man with an impressive build noticed us walking in and came over. - ¡°What do you want?¡± the voice was strong and a bit unfriendly. - ¡°I wish to borrow your smithing equipment.¡± I replied with an indifferent voice. The old man now looked judging at me from head to toe. - ¡°And why should I let you?¡± - ¡°I want to create a weapon for my companion. I will pay for the material and a fee for the tools and furnace.¡± I said pointing at Laelia. It seemed that he got interested because he said nothing more and signaled for us to follow him. We stopped in the front of a door probably leading o the workshop. Help support creative writers by finding and reading their stories on the original site. - ¡°I want to see your work and we decide on the price after.¡± I was a bit hesitant because he could scam me afterwards but still agreed with a nod. - ¡°What would you like me to make?¡± I asked and turned around to face Laelia. - ¡°A short sword with strong durability and sharp edge would be good.¡± I nodded and started working on it. The old man stood behind me and looked at what I was doing with a satisfying look on his face. It seemed that he originally thought that I was some incompetent that wanted to impress in the girls that I had with me. Well e guessed wrong. It took some time for me to finish the short sword. I made it by using some of the finest steel ingots that I could find. I also made some inscriptions on the sword to make it look a little special. It was nothing too fancy but with a small saying of my own and some patterns around it. It said Time goes around without stopping for no ¡®one, you live and you die. Don¡¯t feel bad to die a little earlier. ¨C Cardiz. It was written in my own languages so most people couldn¡¯t read it. This little decoration made the old man frown. - ¡°You really are good with your hands kid. From whom did you learn?¡± The old man asked very curios. - ¡°I was an apprentice of Master Thor in the Shulveria for a few months.¡± The old man froze. I waved my hand in front of him a few times before he reacted. The girls thought it was funny and giggled. - ¡°So you are Master Thor¡¯s apprentice! No wonder that you are good with your hands.¡± He blurted out with a loud voice.¡± I handed the short sword to Laelia and she tested it out with a few swings before being satisfied. - ¡°It feels really good and the balance is perfect. I also like the detail work. Tell me, what does it say?¡± she asked looking at the little saying from me. - ¡°That you will have to find out on your own.¡± I teased her. If she really wanted to know I could teach her to read. We decided for the price to be 2 gold coins. I had used some of their finest steel ingots that was quite pricey. There was a little small fee for using their tools but it wasn¡¯t very large. Once everything was settled it was late so we headed back to the inn for some dinner. The girls went up after the dinner but I stayed and listened to rumors. While having a few beers¡ Of the gossip and rumors I heard the most interesting seemed to be about a dragon that had woke up and shown itself in the beast kingdom. I spoke to the person about it and got that usually dragons just sleep and don¡¯t do anything. But when they do wake up something big is going to happen. Shortly after a dragon woke up and showed itself there was a war between almost all races. Worst of all was between humans and demons which was further strengthened as a war between good and evil. Which is a load of bull if you ask me. The next interesting rumor was about the humans, or rather about me. It seems that it has gotten out that the king had summoned heroes and that they were being trained to slay the demon king just as we speak. I couldn¡¯t help chuckle to myself as I was one of ¡°The Summoned Heroes¡±. There also seemed to be some rumors about a noble kidnapping folks for his own amusement. I will say already now that if ever come across one of those scumbags t filth that do not deserve to live I will do everything I can to kill them. I may be a hypocrite that doesn¡¯t really care about others but I do have some things that I hate to the bone marrow. And that is one of them. Nothing more noteworthy happened except a little fist fight between two drunks that the rest of us saw as a great entertainment. So I headed up to get some sleep. This tine Eleena managed to sleep by herself next to Laelia. At breakfast I told them that I would most likely spend the entire day in the library. They of course asked why and I was not sure if I should tell them. But since we are pretty much in the same boat I saw nothing wrong with it. - ¡°I am sure that you noticed back at the bandit camp that I used some strange magic to cut the door?¡± They nodded to give me the confirmation that they remembered. - ¡°Truth is that I have void affinity. That is why when I see a library I stop and see if I can find anything about it.¡± They seemed extremely shocked. - ¡°I-i-if you have void affinity you won¡¯t find any record of any magic with it in a library.¡± Eleena stuttered at first. It seemed like she really has a high knowledge of magic. As expected of a high elf even if she is young. - ¡°I know that I most likely won¡¯t find anything but it can give me some idea how to develop my own magic when I read about other magic. That is partly how I came up with void cut.¡± They seemed to understand but was still a bit shocked. - ¡°If you don¡¯t have anything to else you want to do today you could help me look for something useful if you want. They agreed and we headed to the library after we were done eating. I have to say it is quite nice with someone that you can talk to and get help from. I guess this is the feeling of a friend. Not sure that we are friends though. When we entered the library we were greeted by an elderly man with long white hair and long white beard. You could see in his eyes that he had some profound knowledge. We asked where the magic section was and he helpfully showed us to it. We were between two big bookcases and every book here had some relation to magic and so we started our search. I had come over a few books with interesting information but sadly none of them said nothing about void affinity. They were however speaking of the other heroes¡¯ affinities. Like the retards for example. Since his affinity was holy magic and according to the books it was an exemplary magic for defense with some very strong offense spells. Sadly enough to have to use this magic you have to believe in something. And I am guessing in his case it is because he believes himself to really be a chosen hero to save the human kingdom. The magic works well with warriors as their defense gets really pumped up and in critical situations they usually have a trump magic card that is very strong. Charles magic was nature and even though it was not as rare as the holy magic that was only because most elves had it. In other races it was equally rare to the holy affinity. It seemed like the court magician didn¡¯t know of this. The books says that there once were a human that mastered the nature magic to its very peak many, many centuries ago. And to test his strength after reaching the peak he created one of the biggest forests still existing. The forest where now magical beasts live. If that doesn¡¯t tell you how powerful he was then I don¡¯t know what will. Seems like Charles got some good magic affinity after all. There wasn¡¯t much n Becca¡¯s blazing affinity. It only said that it was a very powerful combat affinity that could create enormous explosions. Once there was a war and a blazing affinity magician showed up both sides would withdraw as to now piss him off. I can already see the potential off this magic in wars since it was like having multiple nukes while the other side only had sticks and bones. Louis have light affinity and it really suited her personality. It was written that light magicians usually chose between two paths. One was combat oriented and the other was support oriented. The combat oriented way was more like moving fast and strike before the enemy noticed. Since it was light there were some that took advantage of it and created something like laser beams. I almost regret not having that affinity. I mean laser beams. Who wouldn¡¯t want that? The support way was more about buffs and healing. There also were some that could create optic illusions even though the book said it was illusion magic I could already guess the theory of it and thus saw the truth. And considering her shy but yet determined personality it really suited her. Little later than lunch time the girls got bored and decided to head out. I was still in the library looking through all the books of magic. I found an interesting concept that almost every magic affinity had in common. It was that they created a ball of their affinity and shot it at the enemy. While looking closer into this noticed that that different affinities gave different results. Take the basic four fire, water, earth and wind. Fire shot a really hot fireball that you could feel the temperature of even if you dodged it. Water shot a ball that had the danger of surrounding your head so that you would drown. Earth shot a ball full of earth and depending on the strength it could turn into a metal ball that would really hurt if you got hit. Wind shot a smaller ball but faster than the others. It would also had some cutting properties so if you got hit would also get cut. While thinking of this I wonder what would happen if I were to gather void affinity into a ball and shoot it out. I had a small idea to what properties would be given but couldn¡¯t say for sure. Chapter 9 The hard truth And here is the second chapter for the day. Enjoy. HAPPY NEW YEAR AND SEE YOU ALL AT THE GYM TOMORROW!! :D PS: Can you guess the reference down below?? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It¡¯s a new dawn. It¡¯s a new day. Today we are getting out of this city and will be heading to the elven kingdom. All the preparations are ready and all that is left is to eat breakfast. We had some small talk while eating but of nothing important. The only noteworthy thing was that Eleena told us where her village was and how long it would take once we reached the border. Apparently most elven villages have some kind of barrier to keep unwanted people out. They are not all powerful and you can go past them. The interesting thing was that the further in you travel the more powerful the barriers gets. I was also eager to try out the theory for my new spell. I mean who doesn¡¯t want to play with a new toy when you get one? At the city walls we received or horses that we took from the bandits. There was a stable outside of the city where you could leave your horses for a small change. It would take us three days to get to the border from here. But that was considered quite short time for travelling. It was a big difference from our world since you could travel the where ever you want in less than 24 hours. I must say that I am not a big fan of this. Maybe I should try to invent moving vehicle or get myself a magic beast that is fast. Nothing I can do anything about no however. We have travelled the whole day and it is getting dark so we have stopped to make camp. I took out two tents from my inventory. Once I did that the girls looked yet again at me with shocked expression. Seriously that is all that I see for most of the time. Is it really that surprising? - ¡°How did you do that??¡± Laelia asked with a very shocked voice. And her face was almost priceless. Wish you could have seen it. (AU Note: For you to see her expression I need someone to do artwork to my story voluntarily. :D) - ¡°Remember that I have void affinity?¡± they both nodded their heads almost like it was going to fall off. - ¡°I created a small dimension pocket where I can store things. No living beings though.¡± They both still seemed shocked but was pleased with the explanation and starting to get themselves together. Once everything was settled, Laelia took out a rabbit with a horn on its head to start making something to eat. She caught it on our way and said ¡°Dinner¡± like it was obviously. I walked just outside our camp to test my new magic. If I succeed that is. I started to think back to what I read about this magic. The key was to gather your affinity at one point and the release it outside so that you get the ¡°ball¡± of your affinity. Almost everyone uses their palm to gather their affinity in, but technically you can do it wherever you wanton your body. Once you ball of affinity has created itself outside you control it with you magic that is linked to it. So you have to feel the magic connection between yourself and the ball. It doesn¡¯t seem so hard but I am a little worried that it will not work with my affinity. Some affinities doesn¡¯t have this application of their affinity. Nature affinity is one of them. But I still think it will work. I started to let my magic flow to my palm. After a little while I could feel more of my magic at the palm than the rest of my body. This was something that I learned in one of my lessons with the Julius. Sadly I couldn¡¯t do much more to move around the magic or the so called mana since I had no idea how to release it other than my little pocket dimension. And Julius couldn¡¯t help me either since he didn¡¯t know either. I tried to manifest the mana I could feel in my palm outside of it. Nothing really happened but I could feel that the mana was lifting up somehow, just slightly but it still moved up in my hand. I wasn¡¯t disappointed by this instead I was happy. This meant that I could learn this. All I had to do was to practice more. I tried one more time but the same result happened. I could feel the mana lift up slightly but that was it. It seems to need something more than just the mana. (AU Note: Just think of the scene where Naruto learns rasengan and you get the whole picture. For those who doesn¡¯t know what Naruto is, it is manga and something you have missed in life.) The book just told the theory of the spell and not how to actually do the spell itself. I tried it once more and sure, the same thing happened and nothing was different than the first two times I tried it. But what could I be lacking. It should just be mana that gathers and then you shoot it at your enemy. - ¡°Cardiz! The food is ready!¡± It was Eleena calling out to me. She pulled me out of my thoughts. Not that I was getting anywhere. - ¡°So this is Laelia¡¯s famous rabbit stew?¡± I teased her when I saw the stew. It smelled really good and seemed to be quite good. - ¡°It¡¯s nothing too fancy just something all of my clan learns when they start their training.¡± It seems like her upbringing is a lot better than that of mine. I mean of all the 17 years or so of studying I have only used about 10-20%. Most of the things they teaches you is completely useless in real life later. You never learn to pay taxes or the laws of the country you live in. hell you don¡¯t even learn the human rights. They teaches you of our history when you need to know of our current state of affairs instead of what some king did xxx years back to his wives. Instead they try to make you remember some useless math formulas or about things that you have no relations too. Sorry I just get quite upset when I think of my own world since there is so many hypocrites, liars and useless things. - ¡°What do you learn Eleena?¡± I asked her cause it seemed interesting what a high elf would learn. - ¡°Most of our education is magic related. Since high elf have higher mana capacity and are usually greater mages than the others. Wood elves learns about nature while also taking the necessary magic lessons. Dark elves are almost all born warriors with stronger physical condition than other elves so they learn martial art. They also learns some magic but not as much as the high elves and wood elves.¡± Wow, I wasn¡¯t expecting her to give such an answer. That practically answered everything I about their education. - ¡°Wait. So does that mean that you can use magic?¡± I asked a little bit surprised. - ¡°Yes. I have affinity for water and wind. But since I am not finished with my education I don¡¯t know much magic.¡± This really came as a surprise. She said that she didn¡¯t know much but maybe she knew what I wanted to know. - ¡°Well do you perhaps know waterball or windball?¡± I asked with a nervous voice. I mean maybe I have a teacher right next to me. - ¡°I know waterball. It is one of the basic spells we are taught.¡± - ¡°Great, could you teach me how to use it?¡± I had a really happy face right now. I mean now I didn¡¯t have to wait until we got to some town to get someone to teach me. Since I have a capable teacher right next to me. - ¡°Sure.¡± She replied with a happy voice. After we were done eating I and Eleena went a bit outside camp since it would be bad if we destroyed it by mistake. I told her what I knew and also showed her an example. When I was finished she had a confident smile hon her face. - ¡°You are making same mistake as every beginner. To control the ball you have to put a drop of blood in the place where you gather you mana. The blood is there to control your spell. The more powerful the spell is you usually have to put more blood in to it if you want full control over the spell. Most mages just put a little bit of blood so that they can aim and not enough so that they can freely control the spell. That is also why there are few mages that also try to be warriors since there is a much higher risk to lose blood in close combat instead of ranged combat.¡± It seems to make some sense but I wonder why Julius never told us anything about this. It is one of the most freaking important things to control your spell. - ¡°Does all spells require blood to control them?¡± I asked since I don¡¯t use any blood to control my inventory. - ¡°No, not all spells require it but most do. It is only the basics of basic spells that doesn¡¯t require blood for control or some special magic. Since I now fully understood what I had to do I tried it once more. I let the mana flow to my palm. Once I felt that I have gathered enough mana I tried to let one drop of blood mix in. sadly the blood didn¡¯t want to mix with the mana. - ¡°The blood doesn¡¯t want to mix in with the mana.¡± - ¡°That is all about practice. It usually takes about one to three weeks before you do it successfully the first time.¡± I can¡¯t say that this information made me happy. Eleena just smiled when she looked at the frowning face I made. I still continued to practice. Eleena went back to Laelia. Every time I tried the same thing happened. The blood just didn¡¯t want to mix with the mana. I have now tried 99 times. (Don¡¯t ask me how I knew that it was 99 times.) This is the last time if it doesn¡¯t work I just have to continue tomorrow. (AU Note: The privileges of being the author of your own story J) Find this and other great novels on the author''s preferred platform. Support original creators! The mana gathered in my palm. I tried to make a drop of blood fuse with the mana. This time I felt a reaction but no fusion happened. I felt really excited and quickly tried once more. The same thing happened but this time could feel a stronger reaction. The third time. I did the same thing and this time the blood merged with the mana. I urged the gathered mana in my palm to float upwards which it did. I was now standing still with a black ball floating above my palm. I carefully moved my palm to face a tree. I urged the ball to fly forward. It flew forward, not very fast but what happened was out of expectations. The ball flew forward. When it hit the tree it just continued forward. The surroundings started to bend in the directions of the ball. The ball continued to fly forward and everything around it was bending towards it. And the things that stood in its way it just passed despite hitting them. When it have gotten 100 meters from me it disappeared. If someone saw my expression they would have to describe it as ¡°He has lost his jaw1¡±. I was shocked to say the least. What I just shot forward seems to be a gravitational ball. Everything that surrounded I was being pulled towards it and when it was going to collide with something it just went through leaving a hole of the same size as the ball. (1: Don¡¯t know if this expression exist in English but it sounds a lot better in Swedish which is ¡°Han tappade hakan¡±) It took some time for me to get out of my surprised state. The only known weakness that I can quickly see is that it is slow. But if I use it at the right time it sure as hell will do some damage and could turn a bad situation into a favorable one in an instant. I rushed to Laelia and Eleena. I just had to consult with Eleena about it. And who know maybe Laelia also have an opinions since she is a born warrior and all. I am sure that they must have some training against magic or they would be Bambi on ice when it comes to fighting a magician. I ran back to the camp even though it wasn¡¯t far away. I saw that both Eleena and Laelia was just about to go to bed when I came running. They both looked surprised when they saw me, must have been because they have never seen me like this. And I really think that I have really never felt like this before either. Not in my own world at least. - ¡°I did it! I managed to make the blood merge with the mana and cast the spell.¡± To be honest here. I was really happy, which I haven¡¯t been very often. - ¡°You¡¯re lying!¡± Eleena shouted back at me. - ¡°No, just look.¡± Laelia just stood beside and observed us talking. As I said my last line I started to gather my mana and then made a drop of blood merge with the mana. I urged it to flow upwards and there was my black ball. - ¡°This can¡¯t be true! Even the most gifted of our race would still need five days before they could merge their blood with the mana.¡± She said with a very shocking voice while looking at the black ball. - ¡°And that is not the best part. The properties that my Void ball have is way stronger than any other kind of ball no matter what affinity.¡± I said with a slightly proud voice. It seems like she still can¡¯t believe me. I guess that I have to show her. I shot my Void ball to some trees in the other direction of our camp. I don¡¯t want to destroy it now do I? The ball flew towards the trees and started to pull everything towards it. You could see the tree around starting to bend. And the trees to be sorry enough to be in the way got a hole through them. The ball continued 100 meter forward before it disappeared. Everything that was left was a straight line of holes in the trees that was in its way. Everything around the line of holes was bending towards the line. Eleena was in shock. Laelia wasn¡¯t much better off either. They stood still for what seemed like five to ten minutes before Eleena opened her mouth. - ¡°This is insane!!! The all type of spells should be a basic one but this, this is on a totally different level!" - ¡°I have to agree with her. I have thought against some magicians for practice and they use the ball spell more as a distraction type of spell than damage spell. But this is way more of a damage spell if not a killing one.¡± Laelia pitched in. - ¡°Yeah that¡¯s right! And what is with that pulling force?¡± They seem to be teaming up against me. - ¡°It makes sense if you think about it.¡± I said with a certainty in my voice - ¡°How?¡± - ¡°Well, you know that my affinity is void? What properties do void have?¡± - ¡°I-I-I don¡¯t know.¡± Eleena said shocked. I looked at Laelia. - ¡°I also don¡¯t know.¡± I guess this was expected. They haven¡¯t gotten anywhere with science. Probably since magic exist and can alter reality. - ¡°Okey, so what do you know about the stars?¡± I asked to be sure to know where to start my own explanation. - ¡°The gods created the starts to be put in the night to be beautiful for their creations to look at.¡± Eleena said as a matter of fact. When I heard the explanation I facepalmed. - ¡°Do you know anything about the stars that doesn¡¯t mention gods?¡± - ¡°No.¡± she looked curios at me. Laelia also seemed to be getting curios. - ¡°I guess this is as expected. I will now tell you the truth behind the stars. First thigs first. There is no gods involved. Gods are just a higher or more powerful being. They are just like us in regards that there are creatures below them and above them. Or that is my own opinion.¡± They both looked at me with interesting and a bit fearful eyes. - ¡°This whole universe was created with a big bang. If someone did that or not and if that someone is a god is impossible to know without finding the one responsible. Anyway stars are suns but many lightyears away.¡± - ¡°What is lightyears?¡± Eleena was quick to ask. - ¡°Lightyears is the amount of distance that takes light to travel for a year. For example if you are some distance away from a big collision or explosion you may see it before you can hear the sound of the explosion.¡± They both nodded. - ¡°The same principle is behind light except that it travels many times faster. You didn¡¯t really think that light is instantaneous did you?¡± - ¡°N-n-no.¡± Eleena tried to hide the fact that she didn¡¯t know. It was quite cute. - ¡°But moving on, every star has its own gravitational force. And please tell me you know why you don¡¯t fall of the earth.¡± - ¡°No.¡± This time Laelia answered. - ¡°Hweeh (Intended to be sighing). I mentioned that stars have their own gravitational force right? But so does planets and planets are things like this earth that we live on. In fact everything that has mass has some gravitational force but it is so small that it is nonexistent. The planets gravitational force somehow creates something called atmosphere. It is like a big layer that surrounds our planet also the thing that makes life the way it is down here. I am not too sure of this process but anyway the gravitational force makes it so that we don¡¯t start flying off the planet.¡± (AU Note: Please don¡¯t hang me on this I am not so sure about all this but if you know the process then by all means explain it in a pm so that I can edit this part later.) - ¡°Then there is something that is called a black hole. It is created when a massive star implodes. The black holes gravitational force is so strong that even light can¡¯t escape it. And not enough with that it can absorb mass surrounding it and other start to grow. It can even merge with other black holes to create a supermassive black hole.¡± The both looked really surprised and broken at the same time while being curios and interested in what I am talking about. I can¡¯t blame them. I am destroying everything that they are believing in and at the same time giving them new information that makes more sense to replace the false knowledge. - ¡°But to answer your question why there is such a strong pulling force it is because everything surrounding everything in the universe is what you could call the void. And my Void ball gets the properties of the things in the universe. This time the gravitational force.¡± Done with my explanation I looked at them. I could clearly see that they had some questions if not a few. But we all needed to sleep now. A long day ahead of us was waiting and it would be a good topic for conversations to kill the time while traveling. - ¡°Why don¡¯t we head off to bed now and talk more about it tomorrow?¡± My suggestion was accepted and we all headed off to get some sleep. Chapter 10 Magic beast And here comes the two chapters for the first day of the new year. :D I have a big problem with atmostrophes. (Don''t know if that is the right world but with this --> '') This is for when things and people are in possesion of something. I learned the rules in school one time long ago and still had problems wit it then. So if someone could send me a pm with explanation about them then that would be grateful. (OBS!!! This is only if you mind that there is chaos with them for example: Eleena''s ball <--> Eleenas ball and the likes.)( If you don''t mind the chaos then don''t bother with it and I will just continue write.) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- OBS! I was a bit drunk while writing a part of this chapter so if some parts just doesn¡¯t make any sense just say something and I will fix it. We didn¡¯t have much to eat for breakfast so it was just soup made with some herbs that Eleena picked up along the road. I guess that knowledge about various eatable plants is a good thing that I should learn. Both Eleena and Laelia was silent during the entire time we ate. They both had a strange look on their face. I guess that what I said yesterday really rattled them. But having your belief destroyed and at the same time being replaced should do that to one I suppose. I am not really a believer in anything myself. Sure I have some belief in a higher power and so, and that has almost been proven since I am here in a new world and everything. Even if it was a hero summoning that was the cause. We were quickly on our way since the two didn¡¯t say anything. They were clearly thinking about yesterday. According to Eleena we would reach the border by today. The border was apparently very clear. If you described the surrounding that we are travelling in right now it could be summarized with the word forest. It wasn¡¯t a very dense forest but still a forest in its own right. The border between humans and elves were the type of forest. What Eleena said was that the forest should become very dense suddenly and that meant that we had passed the border in to the eleven kingdom. Usually merchants that would travel to the elven kingdom would hire some mercenaries or adventures because there were some magical beasts around the border. They weren¡¯t very strong but supposedly enough to destroy a wagon or two with no problems. While we were on our way Eleena was the first to start talking. - ¡°How come you know so much about something nobody never knew of?¡± she was very curios and you could she her eyes glimmered and expecting an answer. I couldn¡¯t say no to that could I? I really am beginning to become soft. - ¡°You know about the heroes that were summoned by the human king?¡± they both nodded carefully since they knew that I would answer them. I seriously am becoming a very soft hearted person. If it were the old me I wouldn¡¯t even bother with things like this. - ¡°Well, I am one of them.¡± I said with a quiet voice. It was embarrassing as hell to call yourself a hero. The two looked shocked yet again. Couldn¡¯t they get used to it or something. - ¡°My previous world didn¡¯t have things like magic. Instead we further developed our science. We are about five hundred to one thousand years further ahead in science than you are.¡± They really couldn¡¯t take what I said. - ¡°So that¡¯s why. But didn¡¯t you have your own gods?¡± Laelia was quick to recover and asked. - ¡°We did have religions but most of it was pure nonsense that was only for some people to profit. For example we have this Christianity. One of the so called holy rules is ¡°Thou shall not kill¡± despite that they are one of the religions that killed the most people.¡± I was a bit depressed talking about my own stupid kind in my own world. I looked at both of them to see their expression. They both seemed conflicted. I knew what they were gonna ask. - There is no need to ask why they did it. It was some hundred years ago. Now most of the countries have weapons that could destroy our planet and there is not many wars, but there still are some.¡± They both was quiet and in their own thoughts. I guess you could say that we have created a special bond between us. Even though we barely know each other. Eleena was the one to break the awkward silence. - ¡°Do you believe in any god?¡± She asked a bit careful. - ¡°I don¡¯t believe in any god no. But I am almost certain that there is some higher being that we could describe as godlike.¡± She seemed to accept my answer and said no more. I wanted to change the subject since it was depressing to talk about something your kind have failed miserably at. That¡¯s when I remembered my last dream. And no it was not a naughty one. - ¡°Eleena you said that the more blood you merged with the mana the more control you would have over the spell.¡± - ¡°Yes that is how it is.¡± - ¡°Is it possible to control the ball spell so that it will fly according to your own will instead of in just a straight line?¡± - ¡°Hm, there was some that used the spell in the way you described according to history. There are Vuischmidt that was MasterArchmage in wind. It was said the he could control his windball to fly at will in every direction and that it was so fast you couldn¡¯t see it with your eye. And then there is Quiveras. She was a MasterArchmage in fire. It was said that she was so hot that every man would fall down in front of her. But I don¡¯t know what they mean by that. She was also rumored to have created several fireballs and moved them according to will.¡± Well she shouldn¡¯t know what that mean at her age. - ¡°Wait, what is a MasterArchmagge? I only know of archmage and that is what my teacher or if you could call him that was.¡± - ¡°A MasterArchmage is someone that is at the very top of their affinity. They have learned almost every kind of magic that is possible and are studying to learn the ancient magic that some gods left behind. An archmage is just someone with a very high mana capacity and knows a lot of spells and some high levels one.¡± - ¡°I guess they were powerful then, anyway so it is possible to control the ball spell to my will and have more than one out at the time?¡± - ¡°Yes it should be possible. But why are you asking?¡± she was a bit confused. Maybe because of what I mentioned earlier. - ¡°I was thinking of making more than one void all and have them circle around me for both defense and offence. As it is now they just disappear after they are out of my control area which is 100 meters.¡± - ¡°That sounds like something very dangerous for the ones who are your enemy.¡± Laelia was the one who answered. Eleena just stood still and didn¡¯t say anything it looked like she was thinking. - ¡°That would indeed be a very terrifying spell. Just thinking about it makes me shiver. The only weakness in your void ball will be compensated and at the same time you don¡¯t know when the void ball will attack you. The only problem that I see with this is that it would take a massive amount of control to pull off.¡± - ¡°As you know fire, water, wind and earth have different properties to them. And because of that they each need a different amount of control. Wind needs the least amount since you just shoot out it out with some winds propelling in it. After is earth since you just need to condense the earth. Next is both fire and water. Fire you need to control the temperature and in water you need to make it stay together so that it doesn¡¯t collapse. I can only imagine the amount of control that you need to pull of what you just said. I have to agree when I fired the void ball it took quite the toll on me just to fire two. It was not like I was out of breath or anything, but I just felt that I was exhausted. I guess that I need a larger mana pool before I can attempt my further improved void ball. I think I will name it melchee¡¯s door if I ever succeed. We have travelled for quite some time. I guess that time really flied by when you have something to do. There shouldn¡¯t be much more left to the border. Then we will follow Eleenas¡¯ lead to her village. She told us on the way that their barrier was a kind of illusion. It would make the ones who try to enter the village uninvited to walk in circles. In other words it messes with your senses so that you can¡¯t reach the village. Sadly it wasn¡¯t one of the strong types since her village was located near the border. If the same kind of barrier was stronger, then it would be really hard for anyone to even notice the village sine they wouldn¡¯t¡¯ know that they were walking in circles or around it. If you come across this story on Amazon, it''s taken without permission from the author. Report it. When we arrived at the border I was a bit taken back. There was a clear line where the forests changed and became a lot denser. It was as if it wasn¡¯t the same forest anymore. It was so clear that you could say that you stood in a very dense forest and at the same time was standing in a normal forest. We didn¡¯t stop for long before Eleena took the lead. We had to leave the horses behind since it would be very hard for them to travel in between the trees. I guess you can imagine how dense the forest was now. It didn¡¯t take long before we heard a very loud roar. It was definitely from some beast that I have never heard of before. We all stopped and drew our weapons by reflex. We all stood still trying to see if something was coming at us. Just as I thought that the danger had passed we heard the loud roar again. Just as we heard it a big beast jumped out from some tress. It looked like a bear with tusks. At its back where big spikes that continued all the way down to the tail. The tail was like that of a lizard. The difference between this beast and a bear, except the obvious is that it had no fur. It had something of a mix between skin and scales and you could see the muscles bulging under. It was a damn terrifying beast. - ¡°T-that is a bresqurrer!!¡± The one who yelled out panicked was Laelia. I have never seen her panicking before and that really scared me. - ¡°What is so special about it?¡± I was quick to respond. The bresqurrer was looking at us. Probably deciding if we are dinner or not. - ¡°It is level 5 magical beast. It specializes in body magic and have a berserker ability. It take a team of at least 6 B ranked adventurers to take it down.¡± I know understood why she was panicking. The way magic beasts is ranked is not perfect. There are a lot of magic beasts that is ranked at one level but is a lot stronger because of their own experiences. For example a rabbit type of beasts that is tame would be a lot weaker than a wild one that have been fighting for its life every day. They also use their magic in different ways, even if most of them use it the same way. - ¡°Then we should run the hell out of here!¡± - ¡°That won¡¯t work. Despite their big stature they are extremely nimble and can easily run past a horse on even terrain. In a dense forest like this they are one of the top ranked magic beast in speed.¡± Eleena was the one to answer. She also had a serious expression on her face. - ¡°If we are lucky it will just let us go. And if we are unlucky we have to try to fight it.¡± Great. We can¡¯t run and our enemy is clearly stronger than us. While we were talking the bresqurrer was just eyeing us. Just as we were done so it seemed to be. It let out a loud roar again and started walking towards us. - ¡°It seems we have some luck. It has decided to play with us instead of eating us.¡± - ¡°And just how is that good?!?¡± I retorted. - ¡°It will be less brutal and hold back some of its power. If we can even kill it now is our chance.¡± I ran some simulations on how to fight in my head. Eleena was out of the question but still had some magic. Laelia was more of an attack type instead of tank and defense. And then there is me. - ¡°Eleena keep back and support us with magic when you see an opening. There is not much more you can do! Laelia I will try to draw its attention and you attack from blind spots! When it loses me from its sight I will attack with all I have.¡± Not much else we could do. - ¡°Okey!¡± - ¡°Yes!¡± Eleena ran back behind me and Laelia ran to the side. The bresqurrer looked at what we were doing but it still decided to go after me. It leaped towards me and damn it was fast. I had barely enough time to evade and just as I moved my head to the side. I could see that a big claw like palm was where my head was before. That sent shivers down my spine. I quickly got some distance between us. The bresqurrer looked at me with amusing eyes. It probably thought that I would be a good playmate. It once again leaped towards me and swept out with its claw. This time I saw it coming and instead of dodging I tried to meet it head on with my sword. Of course I used void cut. Just as we clashed I was sent back flying 15 meters. I only managed to make a little scratch with void cut. It seems like it have more mana than me because that is the only way to counter void cut. The bresqurrer now looked a bit annoyed but still amused at its scratch wound where you could see some drops of blood. When it was looking at the wound Eleena fired a water ball towards its head. It dodged it easily and looked over to where Eleena was standing. But before it could take any action Laelia was slashing its back. Sadly she didn¡¯t manage to make as much as a scratch. Seriously its body strengthening magic is way too strong. I only managed to leave a scratch because of my void cut. I know see why it takes so many b ranked adventures to kill one. Normally it should be enough with a team of c ranked ones to fight level 5 magic beasts. It went after Laelia. When it turned around to chase Laelia I quickly closed the gap despite still being a little groggy after the first clash. I slashed at the back right leg hoping that I could immobilize it somehow. Instead I was greeted with a kick coming towards me. It seemed that the bresqurrer tricked me and was still focused on me. It is a lot smarter than it looked, and it was supposed to have a berserker ability. That is so not fair. I barely managed to shield myself with my sword and void cut before the kick came. There was a lot more power in it than the claw before and I was once again sent flying but this time I was knocked in to a tree and felt a sharp pain at the side of my stomach. Yep that is a broken rib. Just great. I looked at the bresqurrer with a pained face. I could see a smug face on it. It was clearly happy that I fell for his trick. It started to run to me. A waterball came flying from the side and hit it on the head. The water stayed on its head like a helmet. What do you think it did to get rid of the water? It friggin drank it! It was clear that this bresqurrer have had experiences with magicians before. Just after it drank all the water Laelia was going in for a strike at a vital point. She didn¡¯t have enough time to dodge and was hit by the tail. Lucky for her it wasn¡¯t where the spikes were. She was also sent back flying. She had manage to make her left arm take the brunt of the force and it was now completely useless. It would take some time before she could use it again, despite that she didn¡¯t make a sound and just rose up. The bresqurrer was now facing Laelia. I took this chance and rise up despite the pain. I gathered the mana in my palm and merged a drop of blood to it and quickly fired my void ball towards it. It didn¡¯t seem to have noticed it but just before it was about to hit the bresqurrer jumped to the side. But the gravitational force made the bresqurrer unable to completely avoid the void ball. Its left back leg was almost completely gone but the void ball still continued going and managed to take a part of the left front leg. - ¡°Damn it!!!! I yelled out. If it was dead on it would have been killed. The bresqurrer let out a pained roar before facing towards me. It now looked very angry compared to the amusing look from before. Eleena was firing waterballs left and right towards it but it didn¡¯t even care for them and just continued slowly towards me. With one back leg gone it could not run anymore and was kind of lumping towards me. But do not be tricked, it could easily still kill me with one strike. Laelia took this opportunity and ran towards it from the back. She jumped onto the bresqurrers¡¯ back and slashed down towards they eye. She barely hit it before she was throw off. This time she didn¡¯t get up. She was unconscious. She probably hit her head. When she was on the back I had started to run towards it with a pained expression. On the way I tried to gather the little mana left and managed to make a little voidball. Just as it was facing towards me again there was only five meters between us. The bresqurrer swiped with its claw against me and I ducked under. Just as I was under the claw I fired the voidball towards its stomach. This time there was no way it could dodge. And a hole the same size as the voidball was in its stomach just seconds later. I took a look on the corpse of the bresqurrer before falling down. Just before I fell unconscious I saw Eleena running towards me and then it was all black. Chapter 11 Elven village And here is the second chapter of the first day of the new year. Enjoy. :D Also I will take a small break for about a week without writing anything. Depending on the poll above we will see what the next chapter will be like and hopefully I will get some insight as to where I will go with the story from here to make it easier to write. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When I woke up I felt a pain to the side of my stomach. It wasn¡¯t as bad as when I fought the bresqurrer. When I felt there with my hand I noticed that I had a bandage around my stomach. As my brain was beginning to wake up and my thinking capacity was put on, I noticed that I was now in a house. It was a very special house since everything seemed to be made of wood. There also was this wood scent lingering in the air. I stopped thinking when I heard a door open. After it opened there was a little girl running towards me. She stopped just in front of me like she just remembered that I was injured. - ¡°You are finally awake.¡± She said with a big smile. - ¡°Eleena? Where are we?¡± I asked still not really here. - ¡°We are in my village. You have been asleep for two days.¡± - ¡°Come, lets talk more while we eat.¡± A much more mature voice that came from behind Eleena interrupted. - ¡°Can you walk?¡± Eleena asked. - ¡°Yes I think so.¡± While walking to where we were supposed to eat I saw on the way that we were actually in a tree and that it was not a house built from wood, but rather a house built in a tree. I looked through a window on the way and it was not only this house. You could clearly see that there were houses in the trees. The room where we now sat down and eating wasn¡¯t anything special but it had this ancient feel to it. The table and chairs seemed to have been grown from the tree. - ¡°So could anyone tell me what happened and where we are? And how is Laelia?¡± I had completely forgotten about her because of my surroundings. But just as I asked that question a woman that had some similarity to Eleena, but also this mature feeling to her came through another door with Laelia behind her. She had her left arm in bandages and it was hold up with band across her neck. - ¡°Let me introduce myself first.¡± It was the man that came with Eleena to me that began speaking. - ¡°My name is Ersius and this is my wife Lentina. We are eternally grateful to you for bringing back our daughter.¡± He said and took his wife¡¯s hand. I finally started to make the connection. Laelias was still as silent as always and just observing. - ¡°And I take it that this is your village then?¡± I said looking over at Eleena. - ¡°Yes.¡± - ¡°So what happened after we killed the bresqurrer?¡± - ¡°That was really some feat you managed.¡± It was Lentina. Eleenas mother that spoke. Her voice was very alluring. Not quite sure how to else put it. - ¡°Indeed it take twenty of our fines warriors to kill one and you still manage to do it with just three and one only being a kid at 47 years old.¡± I couldn¡¯t have heard that right? - ¡°Wait. You said 47. Isn¡¯t Eleena like twelve years?¡± I was really surprised about what they said. But then I remembered that in most stories elves have a different lifespan. - ¡°Yes. Ah, we elves have a different lifespan that is about five hundred years give or take a few.¡± I have to say, just reading about it and being told that it is actually true is very different. - ¡°If you don¡¯t mind me asking how old are you two?¡± I was very curios. I guess you really can¡¯t judge a book by its color here. - ¡°I¡¯m 258 this year and my wife just past her 200 and is 209." This really was a different feeling that you couldn¡¯t describe. I mean a kid that looks twelve is older than I am. - ¡°H-hem, it seems we are getting of topic.¡± He was right. I looked over at Eleena for an answer. - ¡°After you fell unconscious I rushed to you. I tried to take care of both of your wounds as best I could. Laelia was in far worse condition than you since her arm was a real mess and ad lost a lot of blood.¡± She paused for a moment and looked over to Laelia. Laelia responded with a grateful nod. - ¡°After an hour I thought she was lost and that is when they showed up.¡± She said and looked at her parents. - ¡°We heard the roar of the bresqurrer and put up a team to hunt it down rather fast. Since we can¡¯t let a bresqurrer run around free so close to the border and our village. Normally they don¡¯t ever get here but sometimes they do and that is when we hunt them down. And because it was our best warriors it didn¡¯t take them much more than an hour. I and my wife are included there.¡± This really was a surprised information I got. I have to remind myself never to really piss someone off if I am not sure of their strength. Both Ersius and Lentina looked like your every normal and average parents and not some warriors or magicians. - ¡°When we found the corpse and an elf sitting at two wounded people, one human and the other a demi-human we were really shocked" Lentina followed up on the story. - ¡°And when we got closer I could see that it was our baby darling and broke out in tears while calling out to her.¡± - ¡°When I first heard people coming I was a bit alarmed but when I saw that it was mother and father and the others from the village I was relieved and quickly asked for their help. That is how you ended up here.¡± They seem to be happy together cause they follow up each other with no signal or anything. Almost as if they know what the other is thinking. - ¡°So how much have Eleena told you?¡± I was a bit nervous if she told them about me being a hero and wanted to get rid of me. I clearly couldn¡¯t fight off a whole elven village. - ¡°She has only told us that you helped them escape from the bandits and that you were travelling to the elven kingdom and that she and Laelia accompanied you and that you were nice enough to make a detour for her to the village.¡± I was a bit glad that she skipped the whole hero thing. At this time we were all done eating and was just talking. The meal was very nice and there was nothing to complain about. Ersius asked everyone if we should move in to the living room which we all agreed to. I really admire Laelia. Despite her arm she hasn¡¯t made a sound and are not complaining about it at all, while I am here grinning with pain only because of some ribs. We sat down and continued talking. - ¡°So how did you manage to kill the bresqurrer? No matter how much we ask her she isn¡¯t willing to tell without your consent.¡± It was Lentina that asked a bit curios. I looked to Eleena with thankful eyes. - ¡°I would like to keep this secret before I make myself known if that is okey with you I can tell you.¡± They both seemed interested now. - ¡°We understand. If it is something that can kill a bresqurrer in one blow there is no wonder that you would not want it to not be known.¡± A case of content theft: this narrative is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation. - ¡°Well who knows maybe you could even help me. Any way it was my magic that killed it.¡± They both seemed a bit confused. Probably since they knew that I was inferior to them in magic and not strong enough to kill a bresqurrer. - ¡°The thing is that my magic affinity is void.¡± They both immediately got a very serious expression on their faces. - ¡°And I was told that there is no known magicians that have void affinity and there is no magic to learn, that you have to either find someone with the affinity or discover what it can do and develop your own type of magic. That is why I am asking f you know anything about it.¡± They both had very serious faces. - ¡°The truth is that we don¡¯t know anything. But it is said that people with void affinity will affect the world in one of two ways. They will either take the world to its destruction or prosperity. I tried to make sense of what he said. And sure if my voidball was enough to kill a level 5 magic beast then I can only imagine what those who have mastered the void affinity could do. Everything was after all born from the void and will one day return to the void. We continued with some small talk. It would take some time for our injuries to heal. It didn¡¯t really matter because I wanted to stay here for a while observing the elves and their culture. When I told them that Ersius offered us to stay with them and I gladly accepted the offer. Even though the village wasn¡¯t very large it was still quite big. It was almost like a big town or a little city but still considered a village. After our little small talk we all headed off to bed to get some real rest. Morning came and we ate breakfast with Eleenas¡¯ family. After the breakfast Eleena decided to show us around the village. The village was really beautiful. Every house and building was incorporated in the trees like the trees naturally grew one house. Eleena told us with some pride that this was because of the wood elves. They all have nature affinity that is stronger than others. There are some differences between their magic. A good example is that some of them are more directed to the agriculture kind of magic while another is the one who make their houses and manipulates the trees to become like they are now. Usually the villages are made up of one kind of elves and some of the other elves are there, but in this village there is an equal amount of high, wood and dark elves. If not slightly more than the other but still about the same amount. When I further asked about this Eleena said it is because their village is close to the border and despite being a minor village their fighting potential is quite high. It is not like the elves dislike each other it is just that they are more comfortable with those of their same kind. Not that it matters much to them and in the bigger cities they are all gathered anyways and it is just the smaller villages that is this way. Or that is what I was told anyway. While we were strolling around the village I still couldn¡¯t keep myself to admire how they lived. It was quite a simple lifestyle yet seemed so relaxing. There was of course money here but most of the time they just helped each other out. I saw that many of the elves just gave away things and when I asked Eleena she said that it was normal. They all had their own role. There was those that gathered the food and then those that built their houses and those that kept them safe from beasts and magical beast. In short they all barter instead of using money. A favor for a favor type of system. But this only applied to the elves living here. The few travels that actually came here were paying with money. And that is another thing I noticed. There weren¡¯t many other people here except for those that lived here. I guess that it has to do with their barrier. So far I have only seen a few merchants and fewer adventurers. As we were walking around some elves girls that looked to be the same age as Eleena came up to us. As I thought this I remembered that she was older than me which just gave a strange feeling. - ¡°ELEENA!¡± one of the girls yelled at us as they were running towards us. - ¡°Mel.¡± She replied with a smile. When they reached each other they hugged and the three girls almost had tears flowing out of their eyes. What followed was one of those tearjerker scenes that we all know of. How the kidnapped girl are reunited with her friends and everyone is crying and hugging each other. When that had settled down Eleena introduced us to her friends. I won¡¯t mention anything about them since they were not important right now. After she had said her greeting and explain a few things we continued our tour through the village. But not long after she stopped in front of a bigger tree. It was a lot larger than the others. Or at least what you could see and compare of the trees. The trunk was a lot wider so that was what I assumed anyway. Sticking out her small chest (no I am not a pervert) and with a proud confidence in the air around her she looked over to me. - ¡°And this is our library. Even though our village is at the border we have a big library with a lot of books on magic. It was gifted to the village a long time ago when the village managed to defend from an attack but not without many fatalities. The king at that time gifted the village with many magic books in hope of improving our strength so that next time there would be less fatalities.¡± We got a small history lesson from her while she was having a proud look in her eyes through all of her lecture. But still a library with a lot of magic books is just what I need. Since I can¡¯t seem to find any remnants of void magic anywhere I will have to develop my own magic. A lot of the light novels I have read had the mc develop magic depending on their imagination from their previous world. Guess I will just have to do the same. And what better place for inspiration than other magic to create my own? - ¡°And just to be sure there are no records of void magic?¡± I asked with no hope since I knew by now how rare it was. You had a bigger chance to win on lotto than find anything. - ¡°No, not that I know of and if there even is it is well hidden.¡± And she shut down the small tiny little speck of hope that I had. - ¡°But there are still a lot of information considering magic.¡± She said trying to cheer me up. Well at least I have something to do since we are here healing our wounds. I don¡¯t know what Laelia will do during the time but she could use some rest and look around for anything interesting while I delve into my magic research. I have to say, I was never really the type to study but now I feel like a real bookworm. I guess it has to do with the subject. Instead of learning things like what year that war was and so you magic that can change reality is much more interesting. After she had boasted about their library we headed back to her house for lunch. Nothing exceptional happened more than that the food was really delicious. I made a small mental note to try to always eat delicious food. Hey in hard times you have to take pleasure in the little thing right? After the lunch we took some time to just relax in the other room where Ersius took us before. After a little while Lentina came in and sat down. I started a small conversation that later yielded a very interesting piece of information. Although she said before that they knew nothing about void magic, she told me of a story that there once was an elf that also had the void affinity. The elf was considered as a precious treasure and he quickly got invited to live with the nobles ruling the area. They didn¡¯t take no for an answer and he was sheltered while growing up. The only problem was that the elf was a lot smarter than his age and understood what was going on. Silently h lived with the nobles while training his magic. He got whatever he wanted from the nobles in hope that they could use him later on. Sadly he knew this and one day he destroyed the mansion he was living in and killed everyone within except for the workers. Then he just disappeared and nobody know where he went. It is said that his tomb is somewhere in the forest of magical beasts to the north. This was very interesting but she also reminded me that it was nothing of a rumor and that it is a story that have traveled down in generations. And considering the lifespan of elves that seems to be quite a long time ago. While continuing the small conversation for a while I then left Laelia and Lentina to head off to bed early. I was thinking of the information and what seemed to be our next goal while heading off to sleep early at the evening.
