《Rise Of The Kind Demon Lord》
Chapter 01
Dylan''s POV
I am kind. I am Dylan Grace. Since I was young, my parents have taught me to be kind, to always help those in need.
Now I am in college and still holding on to their teachings. Being kind to everyone and also accompanied by my above average looks, led to me gaining quite a bit of popularity. However, always being kind is exhausting and people tend to take advantage of you.
Once, I offered to do cleaning duty for someone who was busy. After that, others started asking me to do their cleaning duty.
Also, I offered to help buy drinks because it was on the way. Now, every time someone is thirsty, they ask me to go buy them.
I know what you''re thinking. Why can''t I just say no?
Well, that is because there is nothing more troublesome and nothing scarier than school drama.
First you say no and before you know it, the entire school has isolated you. Just because you said no to the girl who was busy buying dog food for her pet cat.
When I heard about New Life, I bought it immediately and got a VR pod set up in my apartment close to my college.
It was currently 5 minutes before the servers would open and I decided to get in early for character customisation. I stepped into the pod and proceeded to close my eyes.

"Yes."
8 figures that look just like me except each have slightly different features appear before me. I recognize the races to be Human, Elf, Dwarf, Dog Beastman, Cat Beastman, Wolf Beastman, Angel and Demon. There are many choices, however the producers hinted at possibilities of even more races that can be unlocked in the game.
Already deciding to not be my kind self in the game, I had my mind set on the one race which would have benefits in not being kind.
"Demon."
All the other races then faded away, leaving only the demon.
| Please customise your character. |
The demon version of me already had a few slight differences from my real appearance. Standing at 5''10, I have light brown hair and brown eyes. My ears were slightly sharper and my face was slightly more defined, compounding to my already above average looks. I was dressed in a simple black shirt and pants.
The demon version looked different from my original self, but not enough to ensure I would not be recognized by my peers. Not wanting to be recognized, I decide to make my hair white and make my eyes red. Being a demon also gave me the option of changing my skin colour, so I make my previously tan skin a pale shade. All in all, I now look like a full-fledged demon.
| Please choose a starting city. |
A map flashes into existence and on it is 3 red crosses and several other red dots. I guess that the crosses are my choices and that the dots are starting cities for the other races. The crosses are quite far away from the dots, which wouldn''t be strange considering that demons are considered evil beings.
There seemed to be no huge difference in the location of the 3 crosses, 1 is by a river, 1 is near a forest, and the last is near a mountain. I choose the cross furthest away from the dots, which is the one near a mountain.
| Please choose a character name. |
I thought for a moment, wanting a name that symbolised a fresh start.
"Void."
The world fades to black.

Thanks for reading! I''m new at this so please tell me if there is anything I need to improve or if you have any suggestions!

I''m going to explain the system in New Life.
1. Class
Every player can have 4 classes in total. 1 main class and 3 sub-classes. Players get full effect of their main class and 75% of the effect of sub-classes.
For example, mages get a 20% increase in Intelligence and Wisdom. If Mage is your main class, you get full effects. However, if Mage is your sub-class, you only get a 15% increase in Intelligence and Wisdom.
Classes have 4 different stages of proficiency. Starting with Basic, followed by Intermediate and Advance. They each have 10 levels. After Advance Lv10 is Master Lv0. After reaching each stage, a new class specific skill is gained.
After reaching Master Lv0, you can advance your class through certain tests or quests. A class can be advanced twice, though there are exceptions.
2. Skills
Skills can be gained in a few ways.
First, through class. You can gain the Alchemy skill from being an Alchemist and you can gain the Cooking skill from being a Chef.
Second, through skill books. You can gain certain rarer skills through skill books. Though skill books are hard to find.
Third, through doing something repeatedly. Swing a sword enough times and you would get the Sword Mastery skill. Some skills you can get through class can be gotten through repeatedly doing them.
For example, you can mix random plants together to get the Alchemy skill. You can also roast meat over a fire to get the Cooking skill.
There are other ways to get skills but these are the most well known.
There was a downside to class specific skills gotten through other methods though. If you could get any skill you wanted, there would be no point in getting classes. The downside was that class specific skills can only reach Intermediate Lv10 without the class that comes with the skill. This meant that the skills can never reach full potential.
3. Stats
Every race has a total of 100 stat points. Most of the points are automatically distributed based on race and the leftover stat points are for players to distribute themselves.
Strength defines a player''s basic strength and the amount of physical damage he can cause. Strength contributes to the Health regeneration rate of the player. Strength divided by 100 will be the amount of Health regenerated every second.
Intelligence defines the amount of magic damage a player can cause. Also, Intelligence determines the Mana regeneration rate of the player. Intelligence divided by 100 will be the amount of Mana regenerated every second.
Vitality defines a player''s Health, health regeneration rate, stamina and physical defense. Vitalty multiplied by 10 is a player''s Health. The more Vitality one has, the higher his physical defense, stamina and health regeneration rate.
Wisdom multiplied by 10 is a player''s Mana. Wisdom also determines a player''s magic defense and resistance. Higher wisdom also reduces cast time for magic attacks.
Agility determines a player''s speed and stealth.
Dexterity determines a player''s crafting ability and flexibility.
Luck determines general in-game luck, increasing the chance of getting rarer drops from monsters and makes it easier to find rare items or materials for crafting.
There are other stats that cannot be increased with stat points unlocked through certain actions or classes. Such as Faith for priests or Leadership from commanding a group.
Fame can be increased through discovering the unknown or by basically making yourself known through notable acts. High fame increases intimacy with NPCs, making you more likable. Merchants could also give you a discount if your fame is high enough.
Infamy increases when you do evil acts, such as killing people, be it NPC or player. High infamy makes you unlikable and merchants can refuse to sell merchandise to you. Basically, in-game life will be very difficult for you.
~
I think that''s all, if I missed anything please tell me, I will try to explain in later chapters. Again, please tell me if I can make any improvements or if you have any suggestions.
Chapter 02
Void opened his eyes and was standing by a fountain. Every few moments, there would be flashes of light and players would emerge from them. All of the players looked great, every girl looked like a super model and every boy looked like a movie star. Some had weird skin tones, such as a purple shade of skin, and some even had horns. However they all looked incredible despite their different features. This was no doubt because of the customisation system. No one would pass up the chance to look better if they had the choice.
Void scanned the area and was in awe. It looked extremely real, every single feature had great detail. It took him a moment to get used to everything.
The fountain was located at the center of a crossroad and there were medieval style shophouses at every turn. There were some people selling potions and some selling weapons. Though, no one would be able to afford such things currently.
Void decided to check his status first and called out "Open Status."

*****
Every race has a different starting stat allocation based on their supposed capabilities.
Humans are known to be the most versatile race, having a base stat of 10 for every stat.
Elves are known to be agile creatures of high magical ability with lower physical ability to compensate. Players set on being mages would usually choose to be elves.
Dwarves are known to be great crafters, but due to their short statures, their mobility were affected. Also, they have lowered affinity with magic.
Beastmen have high agility and heightened senses, allowing them to see further, hear louder, taste better and smell greater.
Dog beastmen have high physical abilities but have lower intelligence. Cat beastmen have high wisdom and intelligence but have lower strength. Wolf beatsmen were similar to beastmen, except they worked better in groups.
Angels have high magical ability and agility. Also, they have increased affinity with light magic. Players aiming to be priests usually chose this class. Although the angels in the game are wingless, the producers told of possibilities to unlock their wings through special quests. This made many choose the angel race for the sole purpose of unlocking the wings to gain fame.
Demons are known for both their high physical and magical ability and they also have higher affinity with dark and fire magic.
These would be what the status screens of the other races look like.

You would think that demons are very overpowered and are popular. However, majority have realised the disadvantages of being a demon in the long term.
Who would be stronger, a level 50 human Warrior or a level 50 demon Warrior? The answer would be the human Warrior. Demons have an extra 5 points in intelligence that they cannot change. It might seem very little, but in a close battle, the 5 points will make a difference. Also, demons are weak to light magic that most races can learn and animals hated demons. Their overall disadvantages outweigh their advantages.
*****
Void had 10 stat points to allocate but he decide to allocate them after he had a solid plan.
"Open Inventory."
A screen popped up and listed on it were 50 copper, 20 pieces of bread and a canteen of water. There didn''t seem to be a weapon. Void didn''t know about the currency in this world, but he was sure that 50 copper would not get him a decent weapon. He decided to deal with that later.
Void had decided he would not be kind while playing, but he hasn''t really thought things through yet...
''Now, how will I do that...? I got it! I will be a demon lord! The meanest of the mean!''
The producers boasted of endless possibilities in the game, so Void assumed that it should be possible. Hahaha! Void currently had a goal but no idea how to achieve it.
''Research! I need to research about demon lords! To the library!''
He starts walking confidently down a random path.
He stops...
He walks to the closest non-player looking person and asks for directions.
He then turns around 180¡ã and starts walking towards the library.
~
Dylan hadn''t noticed, but many players had been watching his inner monologue.
They had seen him look around in stupified awe and then his expression changed to one of deep concern, before completely changing into determination. They had also seen him laughing in satisfaction and walking off confidently before realising he did not know where he was going and turning around after knowing the proper directions.
They all thought that they had just witnessed true stupidity.
Chapter 03
Void followed the directions to a rundown looking building. He thought he had come to the wrong place but he saw a sign with an opened book which confirmed that this was indeed the library.
He went in and saw that the place was completely empty except for an elderly woman behind the counter. As Void walked in, she noticed him and gave him an annoyed glare.
"Yes?" She asked, obviously annoyed.
"Uh... I''m looking for books on history?" Void had replied as if he were asking instead of answering.
The librarian looked utterly surprised and changed her tone, "Oh, the history section is in the back."
''Seems like this place doesn''t get much visitors.''
He proceeded to the back of the library. Void skimmed through the titles of the books stacked neatly on the shelf.
Void picked up 3 books.
''World History''
''Gods & Goddesses''
''History Of The Demon Empire''
Void thought that he might as well learn about the history of other races while he was here.
He brought the books to a table and started with ''World History''
This virtual world is called Aria and turns out, there had been 3 great wars.
The first great war had been between the Angels and the Demons. This war had occurred many centuries ago and was mostly forgotten. The cause of the war had also been long forgotten. It is also unclear how the war ended. However the relationship between the Angels and Demons have never improved.
The second great war lasted 12 years and had been between the Humans and all the other races except for Angels and Demons. The cause had been Humankind''s arrogance. Humans had believed themselves to be the superior race and enslaved people of the other races. The other races banded together and declared war on Humans. The war ended in a peace treaty signed by representatives of each race. Also, the World Alliance had been formed. An organization that dealt with first world problems.
The latest great war had occurred only a few decades ago and had been between Humans and Demons. The Humans had instigated the war against Demons in the name of the Goddess Of Light, Lumina. The Church Of Light had believed Demons to be beings of great evil and decided to purge them from the world for the greater good. The Demon Lord then had been infuriated and retaliated by annihilating the Church Of Light. The Human race had surrendered a year after the war had begun. There has been great animosity between Humans and Demons ever since.
Void was shocked. He did not expect this world to have war. He guessed that war was a culture in any world, even a virtual one. Different ideals and opinions give birth to conflict. Thus, conflict is inevitable in every world.
Void moved on to ''Gods & Goddesses''.
Aria has its own set of Gods. There are many different Gods, each with their own domains of rule.
The most prominent Gods are the Gods and Goddesses of the elements. There are 6 main Gods and Goddesses of elements and those elements are also the 6 elements that mages can learn in the beginning.
There is the previously mentioned Goddess Of Light, Lumina. She has domain over anything that the light has touched and has the most recorded followers. Offending her is equal to offending majority of the world. She is also mythed to have created the Angels.
Next is the God Of Fire, Ignis. He has domain over fire, obviously. He is known to have blessed Dwarves with their incredible crafting ability.
Next is the Goddess Of Water, Vesi. She has domain over the great ocean. Aquatic creatures are created by her to keep her company in the endless seas.
Next is the Goddess Of Earth, Terra. She has domain over the vast land. It is said that mountains had been created because of her rage.
Next is the God Of Wind, Zeph. He has domain over the limitless sky. He is known to be the most carefree among the other Gods. His followers are mostly adventurers who travel wherever the wind might take them, never staying in one place for too long.
Last is the God Of Darkness, Myrk. He has domain over the shadows and is the opposite of Lumina. He has the least amount of recorded followers and is mythed to have created the Demons.
There are other elemental Gods, such as the Goddess Of Lightning and the God Of Ice. There are also other non-elemental Gods, like the Goddess Of Nature and the God Of Knowledge. However, they were mostly outshined by the 6 main Gods and Goddesses of the elements.
This narrative has been purloined without the author''s approval. Report any appearances on Amazon.
Aria not only had their own Gods, but also Gods from the real world. Gods from different cultures existed in Aria as well, such as Greek Gods, Roman Gods, Egyptian Gods and even Hindu Gods.
Void thought if it was possible to meet Gods in the game. He also thought that if it were possible, it would be very cool, on good circumstances of course.
Void picked up the last book he had picked out, the book that held information he had came to the library to find in the first place, ''History Of The Demon Empire''.
There had only been information about the Demon Empire from after the first great war, which Void found strange but chose to ignore at the moment. There had only been 3 Demon Lords in the 7 centuries since the first great war.
The first had ruled for 200 years. Void thought that it was quite a long period of time, however the book had considered it as short. He had a quiet rule, not affecting the world much. He had been defeated and killed by the second Demon Lord, who had overtaken his rule.
The second Demon Lord ruled for around 400 years before the current Demon Lord killed and replaced him. He was a pacifist despite being a Demon and avoided conflict with the other races, while still holding the respect of most Demons. Those who thought he had weak ideals often retaliated but were always taken down and shown their overwhelming difference in power. That was until the current Demon Lord had shown up.
The current Demon Lord is power hungry, and always seeking new challenges. He saw the previous Demon Lord as just an obstacle to be surpassed. He spent 3 days fighting the previous Demon Lord before finally defeating him. He had to admit that the previous Demon Lord had been a worthy adversary, the strongest he had faced at that point in time.
After he took over rule as the Demon Lord, he instigated the demons to grow stronger and one day face him in battle. This made the Demons to be the hostile creatures they are today, though no one has yet to succeed in defeating the current Demon Lord.
When the Humans had sought war with the Demons in the third great war, he was infuriated because he thought the Humans to be weaklings. He believed that the Humans were wasting his time with their fruitless efforts. He allowed the war to continue for 1 year to allow Demons to learn superiority, to learn that they were the superior race and that no one could oppose them. After a year had passed, he stepped into the battlefield and briefly annihilated the enemies. It could not be considered a battle, for it was more of a one-sided massacre.
Void had noticed one similarity in all 3 Demon Lords. They were all incredibly strong. He realised that he needed to get stronger before he could even dream of being Demon Lord. Also, he noticed that each Demon Lord had long lifespans. He attributed that to their immense strength which lengthened their lives.
He had a high hurdle to clear in order to be Demon Lord, for he had to take down the current Demon Lord, the strongest that has ever lived.
Void sighed. He knew that it would be extremely difficult to achieve his goal and that it would take a lot of time and effort. He knew it would be difficult, but he also knew that he would never become Demon Lord if he just sat here reading.
He pumped his fist in determination, deciding that he would get as strong as possible and take down the current Demon Lord. He got up and left the library.
~
Void had just left the library. The librarian walked up to the table Void had been sitting at. She picked up the books Void had been reading, skimming through the titles. She returned them to their shelves.
She pulled out a necklace hung around her neck from her shirt. The necklace pendant was of a black spiral. She sent mana into the pendant and brought it close to her mouth.
"The boy who just left. Watch him."
She closed the library and walked off.

Thank you for all the comments! I''ve added some of the suggestions into the chapters. I''''ll try to add more chapters as soon as I can.
Chapter 04
Void had decided to get as strong as possible. He wouldn''t be able to do it in this starter city. Thus, he decided to get a class soon and leave Hyka.
The class system in New Life allowed players to get 1 main class and 3 sub-classes. Although, sub-classes had only 75% of the benefits of the class. This was to not restrict any player to one specific path and also encourage players to take up a crafting class. There was also the possibility of getting a hidden class through certain quests or fulfilling specific conditions.
Void was interested in using magic but had known that mages were weak in close combat. He thought it would be good to take up a close combat class, such as warrior or monk, as a sub-class to make up for it.
Void asked for directions towards the Mage Guild and was pointed towards a tall colourful building with a pointed roof in the east. It sure looked very mage like.
He went towards it and went in. There were already many other players in the guild registering to be mages. The guild looked much bigger than it did from the outside. Void thought that they were either very good at space management or that they used some sort of space altering magic. It was more likely to be the latter.
There were 3 counters in the guild, each in a main cardinal point of the guild besides the entrance. He thought that there may be a reason or purpose other than good feng shui, but he ignored it for the moment. To the left of the entrance, a spiral staircase started and wound around the room. Void could not see the end of the staircase and wondered what recided up there. It would be a while before he found out.
He went to the east counter, which had the shortest queue. There was a lot of chattering going on, many players discussing about which elements they were going to choose, since they could only choose 2 out of fire, water, wind, earth, light and darkness.
Many players were set on picking fire as an element, taking advantage of the Demon''s increased affinity with fire magic. However, they were unsure of whether to pick darkness as an element, doubtful of its offensive capability. Most players chose fire and earth, seeing as they were 2 of the more offensive elements.
When it was Void''s turn, he walked up to the counter and asked to be registered as a mage.
"Welcome! Would you like to be a Mage?" The lady at the counter asked with a trained smile.
| Main Class
You have been offered the Mage class.

"What would you like to choose as your 2 elements?" She continued.
"Fire and Darkness."
Unlike the others, Void was going to make full use of his race''s advantage.
Upon hearing his choice, the lady''s eyes sparkled slightly. Void felt like he was being examined like a lab experiment.
She proceeded to take something from behind the counter.
She pulled out 2 books and passed them to Void. A red one with a fire insignia and a black one with a spiral insignia.

Void quickly left the mage guild, he was starting to feel uncomfortable under her scrutiny. He checked his status.

| Vulgarity detected!
Speech has been censored. Please refrain from using vulgarities. |
The cost of Fireball and Shadow Arrow were 30mana, which meant Void could only use them 4 times. That''s ridiculous!
"Open Fire Magic Skill Tree."
A single box popped up with 2 lines branching out. In the box was fireball and it branched out to 2 other fire spells. The first was a fire spell called Fire Aura. It seemed like some type of buffing spell. It would be unlocked at Basic Lv3. Next was Fire Pillar, which would probably be an attack spell. It would be unlocked at Basic Lv5.
"Open Darkness Magic Skill Tree."
A similar box popped up. Shadow Arrow branched out to Shadow Aura and Shadow Bind. They would be unlocked at Basic Lv3 and Basic Lv5.
Void then decided to dedicate whatever free time he had to raising skill proficiency. Mana cost would decrease and he could unlock more skills. The more the merrier!
Next on Void''s agenda was finding a close combat class. He decided to go with Warrior, thinking that while both classes increased strength and vitality, Warriors had the added bonus of higher weapon proficiency.
He asked for directions and was sent west of town.
~
Void arrived at the Warrior''s Guild. It was bustling with activity, mostly of players registering their class, but also of warriors training.
The Warrior''s Guild consisted of a training field where Warriors would do most of their training, barracks for them to stay in, an armory for equipment and also a tower.
Void walked towards the armory where there was a large concentration of players, easily distinguished by their lack of armor. Void joined one of the 5 long queues.
It would be a while before it was Void''s turn. It was inevitable, seeing as today was the first day and everyone was rushing to get a head start.
Half way to the front, Void started getting hungry. Thus, he pulled out a piece of bread and started eating. He was once again surprised at the game''s realism.
After a long wait, it was finally Void''s turn. Void walked up to a man in plate armor.
The man gave Void a scrutinizing glare.
"You want to be a warrior?"
| Sub-Class
You have been offered the Warrior class.
Warriors are melee fighters, excelling in fighting with swords. Able to endure the rigors of close combat with high strength and vitality.
Effects:
15% increase in Strength and Vitality
Do you accept? |
"Yes."
| Sub-Class
You are now a Warrior |
| You have gained a skill: Weapon Mastery |
"Ok. Go in and choose a weapon, free of charge."
He pointed to the armory behind him. Void went in and looked around. There was a large variety of weapons, though all of them were of low quality. There were many types of swords. There were daggers, spears and even clubs.
Void knew he wanted swords as they were versatile and had good reach. He skimmed through the swords section and saw one that caught his attention. It was a sword that had a longer than average hilt and a longer blade compared to the other swords. He picked it up.
| Longsword | [quart=Durability,Rarity]15/20,Common[/quart]
| A common sword known for its versatility and range. |
Void gripped the sword with both hands and gave a test swing. It felt unstable and weak. It was obvious he knew nothing about using a sword.
Void thought that this would be a suitable weapon for him if he learned how to use it properly. Next stop is the training hall!
He went out of the armory and walked up to the man.
"I choose this."
The man spared him a brief glance, giving him a nod before returning his attention to the other players.
Void left the Warrior''s Guild and checked his status.

Seems about right. Off to the training hall!
Chapter 05
Void arrived at the training hall and saw that it was crowded. He blamed this on a certain Sculptor. Maybe they thought they would get a hidden class if they trained long enough or if they got close enough to the instructors to share a meal.
Players were hitting wooden dummies bare handed, or swinging swords. Some were even throwing knives at targets.
He walked towards the area where players were training with swords.
An intimidating man was walking around, analysing every movement the players were making and correcting them every once in a while. Void knew immediately that he was the instructor and walked up to him.
"Excuse me can I learn how to fight with a sword?"
"Yes. Come here." The instructor said without hesitation, as if he had repeated it countless times.
Void was directed to the side and the instructor showed him a few basic moves. He taught Void how to hold a sword properly, how to swing and thrust and also how to defend against different types of attacks.
He told Void to repeat everything he was shown until he was satisfied with Void''s ability.
A training montage begins, filled with determination, tears and heartwarming moments. By the end, Void had gained the Sword Mastery skill, which was a sub-skill of Weapon Mastery. He had gotten it up to Basic Lv5, increasing his attack by 5% if he was using a sword.
"Thank you instructor! I will never forget you!" Void said, wiping tears from his eyes.
The instructor out his hand on Void''s shoulder and pumps his fist in pride and encouragement.
"Good luck kid! I expect much from you."
With that Void left. Void knew he would leave the town soon. If he wanted to be Demon Lord, he couldn''t waste too much time in this beginner city. He had to venture out and get stronger.
He was unsure of how long it would be before he would be able to buy potions, but he remembered the atrocious cost of potions. He thought it would be better if he could make his own potions, he could make more if he ever ran out.
~
He found his way to a small potion shop in one of the more secluded spots in the city. Out here Void didn''t have to wait too long to get his class.
Void went in and saw a small dusty room. He wasn''t surprised since it matched its outer appearance.
Void thought no one was around, until he heard the clanking of glass. It came from behind a door at the back of the room.
"Hello? Anyone here?" He called out.
"Just a minute!" A feminine voice shouted in response. More clanking of glass followed.
A few moments later, a young woman emerged from the door. She looked very messy, with many different stains on her apron. She was wearing gloves and had her hair tied up in a bun.
"Yes?" She asked with a rather annoyed look on her face, not liking being interrupted from whatever she was doing.
"Erm... I want to be an Alchemist." Void answered.
"Oh. That will be 20 copper."
| Sub-Class
You have been offered the Alchemist class.
Alchemists are the makers of potions, taking advantage of the healing and toxic properties of nature in potion creation.
Effects:
15% increase in Intelligence and Dexterity
Do you accept? |
"Eh, there''s a fee?" Void asked completely shocked. He had no idea he had to pay to learn Alchemy, especially since he got to be a Mage and Warrior for free.
"Of course. Did you think I was going to teach you for free? Pay up or leave!" She reprimanded.
Void thought that Alchemy was worth the 20 copper, he could just earn back the money by selling potions he made. He reluctantly took 20 copper out of his inventory and passed it over to the woman.
| Sub-Class
You are now an Alchemist |
| You have gained a skill: Alchemy |
"Good choice. What''s your name? I''m Valerie, you can call me Val. Follow me."
She said all at once. Not even waiting for my reply she turned and walked through the door.
"I''m Void."
He quickly said and followed after her.
Behind the door was what Void assumed to be her Alchemy lab. There were long tables that extended along the 4 walls of the room and a single long table in the middle of the room.
On the tables along the wall were various different types of equipment, some Void had never seen before. There were also containers full of different herbs and flowers. As well as containers full of weird items, such as one which seemed to have animal teeth. There were also jugs full of different colored liquids.
The middle table was extremely messy. Pieces of paper were scattered all over and there were many flasks held by retort stands.
Valerie walked to the table and pushed aside all the mess. She grabbed a container filled with a certain type of greenish-brown herb, jug of water, 2 empty flasks and a mortar and pestle.
If you spot this tale on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
"Watch carefully. I''m not going to repeat this again."
She took out 3 of herbs and placed them in the mortar. She started grinding them up until they were a thick paste. She scoops it into the empty flask and pours some water in. She started swirling the flask, mixing the contents. As she swirled it, the water glowed a slight green. When the light completely disappeared, the paste and water had mixed completely, leaving green liquid in the flask. She got a cork and capped the potion.
"Got it? This is a basic health potion, it can heal 50 points of health. Give it a try."
Void picked up the herb.
| Curar Leaf | [quart=Durability,Rarity]1/1,Common[/quart]
| A common herb used in basic health potions. |
Void repeated the process in the exact same way Valerie did, though he was a lot slower than her.
After he was done, he lifted his first potion like it was a priceless treasure and examined it with sparkles in his eyes.
| Basic Health Potion | [quart=Durability,Rarity]5/5,Common[/quart]
| A weak health potion made from Curar Leaves.
Effects:
Recover 35 Health |
The sparkles faded.
"35? Didn''t you say 50?"
"I''m a Master Alchemist! Don''t compare your lowly self to me! Anyway, this is only one way to make a potion. There are many different methods! As an Alchemist, we aim to discover the best way to make potions as potent as possible. You can use different types of liquids as the solvent in a potion, you can use heat to integrate ingredients better. The possibilities are endless!"
Valerie started to ramble on about different ways to make potions, getting more passionate as time went on. Void figured that if he didn''t stop her now, she would never stop.
"Valerie?"
He was left unheard.
"Valerie!"
Valerie finally heard him and was shocked into stopping her personal discussion.
"What? You''re still here?"
"Sorry, I''ll leave now."
Void started walking away dejected.
"Wait! Take this."
Valerie passed Void a small wooden case.
"What''s this?"
| Basic Alchemy Set | [quart=Durability,Rarity]-,Common[/quart]
| An Alchemy set with the basic equipment needed to make a potion. Contains a mortar, pestle and flasks |
"All new Alchemists get this. Take this and get lost."
Void thanked her and left promply.
"Open Status."

1% was pitiful. Void decided to make potions whenever he had free time to increase Skill Proficiency so that the skill wouldn''t stay complete useless.
Void was finally ready to leave Hyka and start exploring. He was looking forward to facing the unknown. This was a game and he was going to have fun playing it.
