《The End of the Princess》 Chapter Nulla Her heart ceased to beat, but for a while she was conscious still. She looked ahead at the man who had his arm impaled in her chest. He had a horrified look as if he had made a grand mistake. The woman, or rather, the child before him was more beautiful than what he viewed as an angel. She was a precious object he had to have. Though he regretted killing her because she was the divine itself, there was another reason he was horrified. He had done a wrong by killing her as she was someone else''s prey. He didn''t know why she was chased after by him, but he knew that the man would do anything, kill anyone, to get to her. He had first been afraid to chase after her himself, but the urge was too great despite the danger. He knew one thing, though. She had something the man wanted and for that, he needed her alive. Otherwise, why would the man continually pursue her. Now that she was dead, he would be killed also. He was sure of it. In the last essence of her life, the maiden''s beautiful face contorted, morphed into some mix of hate, sadness, relief, and more hate. A single tear rolled down her face before life was truly gone from her. As if denying him again, her body burst into a bright and fiery light that didn''t calm till nothing was left of her. I just want to die this time. Please. [MC] Kill him or take it back and you''ll be set free. There''s no way I can kill him. [MC] After all he''s done. You still hold feelings for that man? It''s not so simple. I can''t kill him. I can''t. He means more to me than myself. I''d rather die than kill him. [MC] You either kill him or you keep running. Keep reincarnating. Keep dying until he eventually gets what he wants. That man is no longer who he used to be. He is evil. I don''t care! [MC] Do you know how many people he has killed in his quest for you? How can you not understand? You help people, but you kill them by not killing him. You have as much blood on your hands as he does because of it. He is no longer your little brother. He is a demonic being. Choose now cause he will get what he wants one day. You know he''s trying to bring Tristan back? That bastard will tell him where you put it. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I held this pitiful man''s throat as he struggled for air. He was the target of my eire at this moment. He killed my sister, so I will give him the most gruesome death there was. I don''t why, but I knew I had to make it hurt. I had to make it hurt. I saw the ashes of her body piled up on the ground. It must have hurt her. She must have felt more pain than ever dying alone. At least she had me with her the last time she died. At least we were together. Cause when I killed her, it was a moment of rage; gruesome, but short. She had no time to feel pain. That was my gift considering what we used to be. Every time I see her body, I''m tormented by memories of the beginning. Memories of before my sister became who she was and I became what I am. She loved me so much. Each of her deaths was because of that love. Sometimes I wish she had killed me instead of I, her. The first time I killed her, I was devastated. I could not stomach the image of her lifeless body. But death after death, it got easier. She eventually stopped seeking me out and instead ran cause she knew I was looking for her. She knew what I would do to her. She knew she couldn''t talk her sense into me anymore. I would find her when she was weak and young. She would be captured and then she would be killed. I don''t mean to kill her, but she talks so much. She talks so much that I can''t stand it. The things she says it hurts my head. It hurts my head thinking about it now. Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings. I cut the bastard''s life short, piercing him through the heart. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I won''t go back. I''m am tired..please. [MC] So you''re going to leave your brother to his own devices. He will kill more for no reason at all. Your life gives him focus. He''s only killed people that got close to you and people that threatened him or you. If you cease to exist, he will kill without discrimination. He will kill just to kill. Either way, you can''t die and you know that. Think about the thing he''s using to kill you. It''s yours isn''t it. Don''t you have some obligation to it as well. Its still a part of you. As long as it lives, you will live. You have to kill him. Its simple for you. You don''t even have to fight him. You could have ended this a long time ago. You can end it now even. We''re still connected to that world. You can call it away and he will be dead soon enough. I promise to reincarnate him. Just not in that world again. He might remember something. I can''t fully erase his memories. Especially since he''s been around you. Why are you so desperate Lucis? [MC] There cannot be two great evils in this world. It will destroy it. Your brother is one and another one is waking up. You have to end this now or all will perish. Show me the hero you used to be. The person who would do anything to protect. One boy cannot change that. I know your mind was clouded before. Anyone would be conflicted, but now, you have to make a decision. This one will decide you. There''s no going back. I-I will do it. One condition. You have to save Meleru. You can intercept her. She''s always been faithful to me. She stayed with him even though she could have recalled herself hundreds of years ago. Make Meleru human. She deserves it. [MC] I can''t do that. Please Lucis [MC] Errg. This only works one way though. You have to reincarnate in a world that will allow you both to be together. Meleru still wants to be by your side despite your bad decision. You will share one mind, but only you will have the body. How is that any different than her being a sword? [MC] You can give her shape, but you must get stronger. There are many possibilities in that world. One last favor please. [MC] There''s never a last favor with you. I am listening. Cloak me and Meleru from those who would do me harm. You know as well as I that my life did not get this way on its own. Someone did this to me. I had a past life before I had a brother and even though the world changed, I always felt they followed me. I am tired Lucis, I want to really start anew. [MC] They did follow you, but I only realized when they messed your brother up. They''ve been warned and cannot longer come to my sovereign worlds without permission. There is that one that notified me of their presence. He wanted to meet you, but I told him I can''t let him through. I will do the best that I can do to continue keeping them at bay. Thanks Lucis. Meleru recall. [MC] It was about an hour before a whistling in the surroundings could be heard. Master master master! Where is this place, its so dark? [Meleru] The sword came into the void and melded with the light of it''s master''s soul. The pure white of the soul turned light gray with the addition and then the sword was no more. Moments after, the soul slowly turned back to a pure white color. I trust I''ll see her again. [MC] Yes you will. Your brother will die soon enough and I will redirect his soul after purification. Goodbye Princess. Chapter I My name is Silvia Blindston and I am a royal nurse. I was tasked with taking care of the 6th prince of the Kalter Kingdom. I feel sorry for the child. Ever since the day the princess dropped him off to me, no one ever visited. They wanted the child to die, I''m sure. When the the child was brought to me, it was silent. After a few hours, it suddenly started crying. I imagine the hunger finally got to him. I paced around the room going over my options. How could I save the child? They didn''t even give me resources to find someone who could breastfeed the baby. The only alternative to milk I could get as a nurse was cowver milk. Generally, children 4 years and older could safely drink the milk of a cowver, but it was dangerous for babies. So, I''m at a loss on how to get the baby some milk. The only other options were expensive and far out of my reach as a nurse. While I was thinking things over, I heard a knock on the door. It was heavy knock that shook the hinges on the door. I opened it and saw someone I never thought I''d see in my lifetime. Someone only recognizable by her fiery red hair and bright green eyes. It was Sarena, the dragoness. She didn''t look at me, but past me. I was shaking despite not being the object of her gaze. She was looking at the baby intently. She bypassed me and took heavy steps towards the baby. She looked at it for a few minutes before sighing. ¡°This child..¡± she said. She turned to me abruptly. In an accusatory tone, she said ¡°are going to just let this baby die¡±. ¡°I-I have nothing to feed it with.¡± ¡°It''s a prince. How can you not have something to feed it with?¡± Now, she was glaring at me. I was filled with the urge to run and hide in a hole. I looked back and forth before I told her that the prince was useless to the Prince Calir and Princess Adriana. They would not use their resources to buy the child milk. They wanted it dead or simply did not care enough. Sarena stood still for few minutes. Around her, a bloodlust so strong formed that I literally pissed myself. I backed out of the room. I could feel her growing rage. Then, I thought of the baby. What must it be feeling? This tale has been unlawfully obtained from Royal Road. If you discover it on Amazon, kindly report it. ¡°That''s the problem with you humans. Trash, the lot of you.¡± The most unspeakable thing occurred next as I stared into the room from the outside. Sarena picked up the baby. She sat in the chair net to the crib and began to breastfeed him. My bottom lip hung down in a gape. I was completely confused. The actions of Sarena defied all logic. ¡°The king sent me to check on the child. Go now and come back in an hour.¡± I closed the door and left promptly. I knew I should keep my mouth shut especially with things regarding Sarena. She was one of the most vengeful dragons alive. Gossiping about her was truly a death wish. Despite this, I still wondered. Why was Sarena here in the kingdom? *************************************************************************************************************************** Alone with the baby, Sarena looked into its bright blue eyes. Normally, children of all ages averted their eyes, but the child in her arms looked back into hers with no fear. Sarena had never had a child before, but her siblings had. Each one of their children were deathly afraid of her as well. Seeing this human child looking at her intently made her chuckle. She decided then, that she would take care of this child. At the very least, she would ensure that it had milk and someone else to take care of it before she left for her home. So, for seven days, Sarena came back and forth to breastfeed the baby. She left on the eight day after securing the needs of the child. On the eight day after Sarena''s departure, the royal nurse was inexplicably ordered to bring the baby to see the king. A/N: Hey guys, just wanted to let you know. Sometimes you''ll get short chapter, sometimes you''ll get long chapters, sometimes you''ll get extra long chapters. It all depends on when I feel like I have finished. If there are any comments/complaints for any chapters, please leave them in the comments sections. I won''t know if you don''t comment! Also, thanks for reading. Chapter II I spent months floating in darkness with only my memories to entertain me. I imagined things I could have done differently to get a better outcome. Ultimately, I decided that it was no use. I had thousands of years to change and only now that I''m truly alone do I think about it; Who am I really? I will always be the impulsive and overly empathetic woman. But this time, I truly hoped to change. Thinking back, the majority of my lives never made it past 25 years old. I could count the few exceptions on one hand. I would always end up dead. Always the same reason. No matter how powerful, I just could not live long. * * * When I was finally born, it was over the course of three hours. I felt slightly suffocated before I was introduced to the light. I felt someone wiping my face. When the pressure was gone, I opened my eyes. I found myself in the arms of a woman. She had brown hair, and violet eyes. She would have been attractive if a scowl wasn''t firmly planted on her face. I looked at her attire and I decided that she was either royalty or a noble. She wore something akin to a dress and it was encrusted with precious jewels. Someone else walked into my field of vision. It was a man. He stood way higher than the woman in front of me. He was a thick man. He had blond hair and blue eyes. He could be called handsome. His eyes gazed over me angrily. He was definitely not happy. ¡°Adriana, I told you I need a daughter. We have only three princesses. We need at least one more. ¡± ¡°It''s not my fault, your highness. I didn''t know it would be a boy!¡± ¡°Give it to the nurse. He''s useless. We have enough sons as it is. ¡± ¡°Yes, your highness.¡± ¡°Don''t forget to name him¡± I heard it all. I wasn''t too surprised. Misfortune always found me whether it be the family I was born into or an untimely death. I also wasn''t surprised about understanding their language. It was one of Lucis'' worlds after all. Not many people know it, but the God/Gods that cover a world initially dictated the languages they speak. So in any world of Lucis'', the humans would speak the same language and likewise with the others races. I closed my eyes and rested when the woman who birthed me put me down on the bed. She ordered someone to clean the room and to give me to a nurse. She followed after the would-be-father, who had long since departed. After a lot of shuffles and bangs, I was lifted up and brought to the nurse. She had a pleasant voice. I opened my eyes and I saw that she was a young woman of about 35 years old. She had auburn hair and brown eyes. She looked at me with a huge smile while trying to get me to laugh. I wasn''t in the mood and I wasn''t the type of person to entertain anyone unless they were children. After a while, I started crying, I was seriously hungry. The nurse left out for a bit and came back looking at me with the saddest eyes. She started pacing back in forth in the room. I wonder what she was thinking about. Here I am, hungry and she''s just walking about. Honestly, I feel like I could die at this moment. After a while of the woman pacing, a hard knock shook the room. I was surprised the door didn''t break. I imagined my heart jumping out of my chest and running away, that''s how surprised I was. When the door opened, I felt a familiar presence. Not in the sense that I knew the person, but I knew what the person was. A dragon. The dragon, in humanoid form, took heavy steps toward me. It looked down at me as I laid in the crib. She was beautiful, though young. Probably only 2,000 years old. She had fiery red hair and bright green eyes. She was a very beautiful woman who looked delicate and menacing at the same time. I wondered if she had a dragon''s temperament. The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement. That was immediately answered when she looked at my body. She turned back and questioned the nurse who had starved me. I was surprised to find out that it was my parents'' fault. That they would deny the expenses to get me milk was not something I thought royalty would do. I mean, somebody had to know I was born. If I die of starvation, it could negatively impact them. The dragoness looked me in the eyes and I looked at her too. I looked at her more in curiosity. Did she feel something from me? Most people couldn''t, but maybe she was one of the few who could. All of a sudden she put on a face of determination, picked me up, and proceeded to breastfeed me. I looked up at her, grateful, before continuing. I wondered who had raised her. She showed the most undragonlike behavior to me and it was baffling. She helped a human child that was neither strong nor special. Of course, there were incidents of dragons helping humans, but to go so far as breastfeeding a human child. For me, it was unheard of. I committed her to memory as she was the first one to help me in my life. I''m sure someday we could be friends. Over the course of the week, she would come and see me. She would breastfeed me twice a day. Often, she would just come to talk to me. She was a cute child and I knew from her actions that she was lonely. Maybe the only reason she breastfed me in the first place was because of that loneliness. It gave her an excuse to come. I empathized with her. I knew what she was feeling. I knew it would most likely not go away. The powerful are always lonely. That''s why its good to stay normal. Not too strong and not too weak. Presently, she''s telling me how she has no kids. That stuns me as she is breastfeeding me. How could she not have kids. I wonder how its possible unless she used magic. Maybe something''s wrong with her body. Someday I''ll ask her. She told me about her family, her relation to the king, and various things about the world. It was interesting information and it puzzled me that she would tell these things so seriously to a baby. * * * One day, Sarena told me she was going to leave. I was saddened by this, so I began to cry. The dragoness held me in her arms and cradled me for a while before laying me back down into the cradle and leaving. When she left, I felt alone. I cried out despite my sense of embarrassment; I''m not some child. I''m at least a couple millenniums old. I''ve always been emotional and I couldn''t help it, so I continued crying until my throat got dry. After a while, the nurse came in. She was visibly shaken. She picked me up, mumbling something about "first time seeing the king". A/N: I know these are crap titles, but I can''t think of good ones. Any suggestions. Comment. Chapter III A/N : I will be taking some time to organize my story so I don''t write myself into a roadblock. This will ensure I continuously write at least a chapter per week instead of hiatusing because I don''t know where to go next or where to end. This should be done by tuesday(Its sunday night now). This will lead to slight changes in previous/current chapter that will be small enough for me to note in the next chapter so you won''t have to reread for small details. If there are any problems, please note in the comments. *** is to note slight changes in perspective or focus Chapter III From what I heard from Sarena, the king looked like a middle-aged man, but he was actually over 400 years old. He was a grandmaster in combat, while only average with magic. He was also my grandpa. Unlike the other kingdoms, Kaltar was ruled by a king who had transcended and gained an extended life. This was mostly due to the fact that most princes and princesses sit on their asses and relied on servants and guards to protect them. In other words, they never worked hard enough to transcend. The king of Kaltar was an exception in the last millennium. This resulted in him ruling over Kaltar for over 300 years. Also, thanks to this structure, it had been uncertain on how the king would transfer power or if he would transfer power at all. It was only ten years ago that the king announced his intentions of transferring power. However, it was not one of his sons that he would transfer power to, but one of his sons'' sons. No one knew why, but that was the old king''s decision. *** The nurse was sweating profusely as she walked down the long hall. She looked down into my face every few seconds. I wonder what she''s thinking. I think she''s worried about what this visit means for you Princess. [Meleru] Don''t call me that. Brings up bad memories. How long did you know I was here? You don''t seem surprised.[Meleru] Since the beginning. Your presence in my soul is unsettling. It always made me uncomfortable. It feels..wrong. Then why''d you cry like a baby if you knew you weren''t alone. [Meleru] ¡ bad memories? You need to get over it in this life. What''s done is done. [Meleru] I''m sorry. It''s okay. [Meleru] I was truly sorry about Meleru. Not just because of my moping around, but also for wasting her life. It was my decision to stay with your brother. If he got any worse, I would have left myself. Now, master! Do you know you''re a boy?! [Meleru] I could feel her creepy grin. It made me shiver. She was smiling for a childish reason though. Before she was a sword, she was many other things, but most of all, a woman. In those times, she held great reverence for me and also a burning competitiveness. She would boast her beauty in front of me. I would, in turn, overshadow or match her. It was a game. I know I''m a boy Meleru. It''s no different from when I was a shapeshifter. I turned into a male multiple times. But you were still a woman underneath. [Meleru] doesn''t matter. You''re no fun! Whatever. At least make me a female. [Meleru] A treacherous thought crossed my mind. Don''t even think about it. [Meleru] I wondered what the fastest way would be to get Meleru a human body. I really wanted her out of my body. I can''t deal with her this way. At least, in physical form, I could tie her down and run away. I could make her a body, but I''m not sure if this world would make it possible. I also wasn''t exactly sure about the ¡°possibilities¡± Lucis spoke of. If I could make a body here, it wouldn''t be human. This tale has been unlawfully lifted without the author''s consent. Report any appearances on Amazon.Meleru, is it important that you''re human? No. You should know that. I''ve been many things. The only one I didn''t like being was an orc. I really thought the gods hated me then. [Meleru] I was actually wondering what kind of lifespan you would want. Humans die earlier than most races. Other live for thousands of years. I''ll make you a viserati if it''s possible. Viserati live as long a elves do. What''s a viserati? [Meleru] Oh yeah, I never told you guys about it. After a while, I got tired of doing the whole process of reincarnation. My solution was a viserati. Its a body made using a beast core, the hair of a human or elf, and the blood of a human or elf(both male and female). Only certain environments allow the creation of a viserati. I made mines between the ages of 4 and 7. It made it easier than dealing with family and it needed less material. Whenever I reincarnated into a world with a viserati I created, I would gravitate my soul towards it. However most of the bodies were already in use by the time I came back. Those damn gods began using them as vessels for souls they took interest in. Soon enough, all my hard work amounted to nothing. Calm down. Is that why you didn''t tell us? [Meleru] Yes partially. I tested it out for a few rounds, but then the gods started stealing them left and right. I really hate those gods. If I could just¡ª ¡°What a menacing little thing¡± a deep voice boomed out. *** The nurse was in front of the king bowing with the baby in her hands. As the king spoke, she looked down at the baby''s face. His face was scrunched up in anger with tears gleaming at the side of his eyes. As the king finished speaking, the baby''s face changed rapidly to that of surprise then one of curiosity as it tried to push its head up to see the owner of the voice. ¡°Hand him to me¡± the king said. ¡°Yes, your majesty¡± the nurse fumbled as she conjured the courage to ascend the stairs leading to the king on his throne. However, when she stepped froward, a guard in fully black clothing and a mask stepped forward and motioned for her to give him/her the baby. The nurse reluctantly handed the baby to the guard. The guard then handed the baby to the king. The king was a tall man. He was over 6ft tall. He looked like he was in his late 40s. He had dirty blonde hair and red eyes. He looked imposing from the neck up. His commoner''s attire did not make him look any less imposing, but at the sight of it, the baby laughed. This caused the king to smile. As quickly as the laugh came out, silence followed. It had been a while since he last held a baby. ¡°Nurse, tell me, is what Sarena told me correct? I do not think she lies, but I know she can jump to conclusions sometimes. Did my son not give you what was needed to care for this child?¡± The nurse was sweating. She knew she would end up face down under water or stabbed in the night. There was no way she could confirm what Sarena had said. The king looked at her conflicted facial expression and made his own conclusion. ¡°So it is true. You may leave.¡± The king grimaced as he looked down on the sleeping child. He couldn''t help but think that his son truly was the trash he had long since despised. The king cared for his son, but over the years he had come to realize something. He was corrupted. He had three sons and two daughters. Both daughters were married off to someone of their own choice. The sons chose their own brides as well, but remained in the kingdom. Over the years, the king noticed Prince Calir was getting highly competitive. He showed sides uglier than a demon. Despite him telling Prince Calir that his choice of crown prince would not be influenced by politics, Calir got it in their heads that those with the most reach would be chosen. It led to the situation at hand; Prince Calir and Princess Adrianna neglecting a child because of their endless struggle to one-up the kings'' other sons. The king had trouble understanding the depth of his son''s stupidity. What would one more son hurt? What hurt the king the most was that his son let the matter taint his children as well. Most of Calir''s children no longer viewed him as grandpa. They saw him as someone they had to suck up to to win a game or gain power. It resulted in the king no longer asking to see Calir''s male children. His granddaughters were fine, though some of them constantly talked about how great their male siblings were in his presence. A pang of guilt clouded his conscience as he looked down at the sleeping child. He was the reason it wasn''t wanted. Along with guilt, he felt anger towards his son Calir. ¡°Bring me Calir and Adrianna now. Then tell the three royal families to meet here in the next hour.¡±
