《Rage and rebellion》


 The beginning

    My eyes opened slowly, and as I looked around I brought myself to terms with my surroundings. Ten seconds earlier I had been sitting in my advanced psychology class before a bright light had engulfed me, however now I was in a large and spacious throne room adorned with hideous golden cherubs, after drawing my attention away from the hideous winged children I looked at the other four people on the floor beside me. I recognised all of them, they were all in my advanced psychology class and were known as the four Princes, using their handsome faces and sweet talking skills the four boys took great delight in seducing any girl they took an interest in yet despite their obnoxious attitude they were never without friends or followers.


    Drawing my attention away from the boys I assessed the other members in the throne room, in front of me was a fat man sitting on the throne coverd in gaudy jewels, on my left was an old man in purple robes who was sweating profusely, other than that the only members in the throne room were guards and scantily clad serving girls. Suddenly a sharp gasp was heard as the four boys awoke, and then the fat man (who I assumed to be the king) started to speak.


    "welcome heroes, my name is king Aeon and I have summoned you here to help humanity in it''s time of great need, the demon king has revolted and is merciously attacking humanity we beg of you to help us." the four boys looked at each other and nodded while I just stood there silent, there was something going on here why had the king and old man just ignored me when I awoke and why were the serving girls looking at the king in fear and disgust, something definitely wasn''t right.

    "umm excuse me but," my question was interrupted with a sudden gasp "Wench how dare you speak without permission in the presence of the king!" I looked up flabbergasted they couldn''t be serious could they, what the hell was going on? "now now," said the king "we shall forgive the heroes servant for her impudence due to her new arrival in our world." hearing this I forgot all about out my confusion and gave into rage "What the hell are you talking about, im no ones servant what right do you have to tell me to be quiet, explain what''s going on this instance you fat pig."


    The entire throne room fell silent as they stared at me gobsmacked "guards arrest her!" bellowed the king "and once we arrest her?" the guards asked, the king smiled "you can have your fun with her." The guards started to close in on me, terrified I looked to my classmates giving a silent plea, but they also turned to look at me with lust in their eyes. Of course I thought to myself the boys only ever saw girls as playthings in the first place, this wasn''t going to be how it happened it would not end like this, letting out all of my anger and frustration I screamed.


    The scream amplified and became like a banshee''s cry, the glass shattered and everyone in the room fell back hands over ears crying "s..sound magic she has sound magic." stuttered out the old man in the purple robe. I paid no attention and walked up to the king who was curled up on the ground in pain and calmly took the decorative dagger at his side "I will not forget this." I spat out, giving one last look of disgust at my former classmates I ran out away from the castle and into the street.

 Decisions

    I ran as fast as I could for twenty minutes until finally I collapsed in a dark alleyway, I was in trouble I had no knowledge of this world and no means of making money as well as half the cities guards after me for the crime of offending that fat pig of a king.


    Snorting out loud I started to think about everything I had learned, firstly I was in another world with no way home, secondly there is magic in this world, thirdly demons were also real and finally this world is incredibly sexist. Sighing I sat down on the floor and considered my options.


    First of all I''d need a disguise to elude the guards, sighing heavily I lifted the dagger I had taken from the king and cut off my hair to slightly shorter than a bob. Staring at my reflection in a nearby puddle on the ground my flat chest and young face made me look like a sixteen year old boy rather than an eighteen year old girl, picking up the dagger, I used the cover of darkness to run to a nearby forest where I climbed a tree and settled down for the night hoping for some good sleep.


    The next morning I awoke to the sound of growling, looking down below me at the bottom of the tree I could see a dark red wild dog with flames at its feet, gasping for a minute I tried to comprehend what this means, that there were monsters in this world as well.


    Thinking about my options I decided there was only one course of action, to get down I would have to deal with the dog. I''m not quite sure how my magic works but if I visualise the magic as sound waves it might work, I opened my mouth and have a piercing whistle.


    Suddenly the dog dropped to the ground crying in pain, not wasting the opportunity I jumped down qnd took out the King''s dagger before quickly slitting the throat of the dog. It was a shock for a minute all I could do was sit and stare at the death I had caused, if this was in my old world my actions would be completely unacceptable but here death would be necessary for me to live.

    Swallowing my discomfort I chopped up the dog and ate the raw meat. It burned. As soon as I swallowed the meat the pain coursed through me violently, clutching my sides I fell to the ground wondering if I had made a huge mistake, unable to take the king pain I screamed out huge sound waves and as birds fell to the ground around me I lost consciousnes.


    Waking up again around what I judged to be mid day I immediately felt hungry, I once again turned to the dog meat, now my body was used to it, it should be fine right? Well anyway it was better than starving to death. Hesitantly I opened my mouth and swallowed the meat pleasantly surprised with the taste, now I had regained my strength it was time to get a job to make some money.


    As I walked into town I surveyed all the buildings image across looking for one that might offer a decent job when finally I found one, an adventurers guild. From what I could tell due to listening in on others conversation the adventurers guild was a place where you would get money for killing monsters or taking on requests, judging by this I could use my new magic to kill monsters and earn some money.


    Making my decision I walked into the guild. As soon as I stepped in all eyes were on me as I quickly walked up to the counter at the centre of the hall "I would like to register as an adventurer please." the young man in front of me stared at me in shock "you can if you want but its a dangerous job and weaklings will most likely die."


    Shrugging my shoulders I told the guy I didn''t care, the guy just sighed it seems he was used to newbie adventurers running out to go on there first request only to die at the first attempt, "come with me and you can take the guilds test, if you pass you can join if you fail you''ll be forbidden from taking the test for another year." nodding my head I followed the man into a large spacious room. Let the test begin.

 Becoming an adventurer

    I followed the young man into a spacious white washed Hall surrounded by seating "OK," the young man sighed "I''m going to call one of our C class adventurers and your going to fight them and based on the results you will be assigned a guild card and a rank or leave with nothing, you can attack them with anything, martial arts or magic and the fight stops once one side gives up or is unable to continue. Understand?"


    I nodded and stood still waiting for my opponent to appear, finally after five minutes of waiting a young man of about twenty years old with short brown hair and lean muscles walked into the room "this is the candidate, looks like a girl if you ask me hahaha" the receptionist smiled a bit at the supposed "insult"  but all I felt was annoyance, this guild was a stepping stone for me to gain enough strength and money to fix this corrupt Kingdom.


    Turning to face me the man spoke again "my name is wing I''m a C class adventurer and I''ll be conducting your exam attack me whenever your ready." feeling great annoyance just looking at his smirking face I opened my mouth and let out a shriek.

    Wing''s POV


    When I first saw the little shrimp all I could think was how weak and pathetic he looked to be. By the jewel encrusted dagger at his side one could tell he was obviously some rich nobles son who had never done a days work in his life. This was going to be fun I was going to teach this snot nosed brat that being an adventurer wasn''t all fun and games "my names Wing I''m a C class adventurer and I''ll be conducting your exam attack me whenever your ready."


    After saying this I smirked confidentpy, the kid wouldn''t be able to do me any harm but the moment I finished speaking he opened his mouth and let out a scream. The scream was more painful then anything I''d ever felt, before I knew it I was on the ground clutching my ears in agony, but what struck the most terror in me was that the kid was looking down at me smiling coldly with his dagger pressed to my throat.


    "kid, you pass," I said as I slowly stood to my feet "what''s your name?" the boy smiled once again but this time it was warmer "you can call me banshee."

    Banshee''s pov


    Smiling after finally deciding on a new name I turned to face the stunned receptionist "sound magic! You have sound magic!" I nodded my head I guess sound magic was rare here, I would have to be more careful when using it.


    "based on you performance we can give you a D rank, please wait here while we make you''d guild card." as the receptionist walked out I turned to face wing "hey wing is sound magic rare?" wing stared at me in shock "of course it''s rare, sound magic is rarely ever seen and it usually appears in females who are useless to society do can''t donating with it anyway."


    Swallowing my rage at hisw comments about useless females I decided to use him to get more information "do you know any of its other uses?" wing nodded "of course, sound magic can be used to enhance hearing as well as being used to administer shock waves, sound makes make the best assassins or spies in the kingdom."


    Well that''s some useful information I never knew sound magic could be used like that, this could help me later with my plans. I was about to ask another question when the receptionist hurried back in again smiling "here''s your guild card and thank you for registering, you can take requests up to one class above you so in this case C class and the guild will buy any monster materials you may gain during hunting, any questions?"


    I shook my head eager to get started and walked back into the main hallux to the request board when I saw a request that suited my purpose "please eradicate the nest of goblins by the East way, rank C class reward 150 silvers" taking the request I walked up to the counter "I would like to take this request please." the receptionist (a different one this time) nodded and checked my guild card "OK come back once the request is complete" I nodded and walked out the door, it was time to hunt some goblins.

    After getting a map from the adventurers guild i proceeded towards the forest i had slept in last night, by some bizarre coincidence it turned out the goblins nest was about 20 metres behind the tree i had slept in last night. Slowly approaching the mouth of the cave i began to hear the growls of the goblins as well as tears and cries for help, walking cautiously i peared round the corner of the cave, what i saw disgusted me.


    In the middle of the cave was an elfish girl who lo¨°ked to be about seven years old wearing ripped clothing and surrounding her were hoards of excited goblins, trembeling with rage i yelled "cover your ears." The girl being the only one to understand human language immediately did so and then i screamed, the goblins fell to the ground and the cave trembled about to collapse.


    Running as fast as i could i picked up the elfish girl who still had her hands on her ears and ran out the cave, it was at that minute the cave collapsed. Breathing heavily i collapsed on the ground the young girl lying next to me "whats your name?" I asked "l..luna" she said through sobs "please dont sell me i know im a girl but i can be useful i promise." I shook with anger and disgust how dare they, how could anyone be so cruel to a little girl, i will protect her, she will become strong and never need to worry about discrimination again.


    "Its ok," i soothed "im a girl to, my name is banshee  im an adventurer and from now on you are under my protection, understand?" Luna looked at me smiling "ok" happy with the smile i spoke to her again "luna, how did you end up in the hands of those goblins, do you have a family i can take you to?" Luna suddenly gasped "please ill tell you anything you want but please help my little sister, shes in the middle of town and starving, she has black hair and blue eyes and het name is Alexis."


    Looking at her worried face i agreed, "ok but in the meantime please find somewhere we cou?d stay in this forest, ill bring Alexis to you and we''ll meet up here, ok?" Luna nodded in conformation and i took off to the centre of town. After wondering around for ten minutes i saw a group of boys about ten years old standing over a small girl with black hair and blue eyes who looked to be about five years old.

    "Alexis," i called out to check if my hunch was correct, the little girl ran over to me and the boys started backing away bending down i whispered in Alexis''s ear "im a friend of Lunas I''ve come to take you to her." Nodding her head Alexis grabbed my hand and followed me as i walked back into the forest giving the group of boys a death stare.


    As we approached the forest Luna ran outof the trees "thank you thank you thank you." I looked at Luna in surprise "its ok but in return will you tell me why you were with those goblins?" Luna nodded but first gestured for me to follow, as we followed Luna we went deep into the forest until she came to a tree with giant roots. Built into the roots was a small door and as i walked through it i saw a large hollow beneath the roots with three beds made from moss in the corner and flowers all over the wall.


    "I hope its ok for somewhere to stay, my specialties nature magic." I grinned at Luna and Alexis "its perfect." Sitting down on one of the bed i stared at luna as she and Alexis sat down and began to speak "Me and Alexis are orphans and we were quickly running out of food due to this i was forced to steal, yesterday i went to the castle to steal some food when i saw an empty room filled with food however when i entered there was a young man hidden inside, they said he was a summoned hero and it was a great crime to steal from him, so they asked him what to do with me and he said to sell me to the slavers and give him the money, only the slavers caravan was attacked by goblins and thats how you gound me with those goblins."


    I stared at Luna in horror, they would pay for this, they would all pay but first i would see who my first target was "Luna the hero who captured you, what did he look like?" Luna thought for a minute "he had blond hair and green eyes." I snarled i knew who she was talking about, his name was Micheal and he took pleasure in seducing girls with boyfriends and then dumping them, he would pay if it was the last thing i did.

    Calming down i looked back at Luna and Alexis "one day ago the king and his magicians used magic to summon four heroes from another world to help defeat the demon king, at that time i was also summoned however after offending that fat pig of a king i used my magic to escape where i cht my hair and became an adventurer, now that you two know this you have two choices you can either join me and become strong enough to help me fight or you can leave and swear to never speak of me again."


    Alexis and Luna looked at me considering when Luna spoke up "i may not be much use but i have lived as a theif for three years so my stealth is pretty good, i want to help!" I smiled at Luna and turned to look at Alexis who smiled shyly and nodded "i have a rare healing magic called regeneration, im not good at fighting but i can heal any injury you may have." I looked at Alexis stunned, this was better than my wildest expectations.


    "Thats amazing, how come you were living on the street using your powers you could easily have made money as a healer?" At this both Luna and Alexis looked nervous "in truth the magic Alexis has, has been declared as witchcraft by the king and as witches are affliated with the demon king knowing this magic is equivalent to being an enemy spy, a crime punishable by being burned at the stake."  Looking at Alexis who nodded miserably i smiled reassuringly " its ok i wont judge you and as long as we keep it a secret nothing should happen, now im gonna go to the guild quickly and get my reward, you two get some rest ill be back soon."


    Both Alexis and Luna smiled at me and crawled into the moss beds "night girls." I called out as i slipped out into the cool nights air and made my way towards the guild. When i finally reached the guild i went in and ten minutes later after my story about collapsing the cave was verified and the reward was claimed i walked out again, heading towards the hollow i thought about Alexis''s magic and how it could be used when it occured to me, although my magic was very rare i knew little to none about fighting without it which could prove to be fatal the only way to get experience would be to fight stronger oponents like the magical beasts without the help of magic, and with Alexis''s magic i could heal any damage done smiling at thw idea i decided training would start tomorrow.

    Opening my eyes the next mornimg i looked over at the teo girls and went to shake them awake, gently shaking Luns and Alexis''s shoulder the both awake and looked at me "okay," i said "today our training starts, first question Luna how well can you fight without magic?" Luna paused and considerd the question "i can best any kid my age but i would struggle to take on anyone older without magic." I nodded and looked at Alexis " im the same, seeing as my magic is useless in a fight i have always fought without it." "Okay," i said again "from today onwards we will be fighting the magical beasts in the forest without magic to develop  our magic skills, Alexis once we come back to the hollow you can heal any injuries, everyone happy?" Both girls smiled and nodded eager for the challenge, seeing them i also grinned and moved towards the door "lets get started!"
