《Asaris Online》 Asaris Online - Prologue NOTE: Italics are main character''s thoughts! Also, as mentioned in synopsis that my grammar skills is not that good. I tried my best to trim them out but you''ll probably spot some! This is also my first time writing, so I expect some good feedback!!! On other note, I''ll be writing this novel based on several inspirations, so don''t be too surprised if you see similar concepts and the likes! Now onto to the Prologue! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Prologue Trevor Hill sighed as he stared at his computer screen, admiring his game avatar, Kain. He glanced over at the clock and it was 11:50 as he thought ¡¯10 min to go huh?¡¯ as he manipulated his character with key arrows and mouse, moving around in his Guild Hall. This game, Asaris Online was amazing MMORPG game, it had everything from customizable armor to fantastic raids. It was explosively popular with the gamers across the world. The most popular aspect of the game was, the graphics. It boasted greatest graphics out of all the games. And it is true, next to Virtual Reality which is now a thing in 2020 no games was able to match Asaris Online¡¯s graphics. Trevor let out as he thought about the game. Well I guess with Virtual Reality making its debut, this kind of stuff is outdated too¡ He shook his head as he gazed at his game character, he had spent hours and hours upon on this fantastic MMORPG playing his character, raiding acquiring all items he could acquire, no matter what class or requirements they had. He had to have everything. His character was level 100 and decked out in highest grade gear possible for his class, a rogue with two legendary daggers. The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement. Of course, that wouldn¡¯t be possible without great friends in his guild. They had worked hard together and overcame any and all challenges that developers could throw at them ¨C the #1 ranked guild . What great times it was¡ Too bad I¡¯m only one in the guild hall¡ This game is done for. Trevor glanced at the clock and it was 11:58, it was only two minutes until this game, Asaris Online would go offline¡ permanently. As the clock ticks down, Trevor shook his head, feeling drowsy as he started to drift away, after all he did have work tomorrow. He was only 25 year old. His eyes blinked slowly just as he saw ¡®Shutting Down¡¯ message on the server then was disconnected from the game for once and all. That it is¡ Good bye Asaris Online, we had a lot of fun¡ Then he fell asleep. He have to go work tomorrow, or does he? Chapter 1 - Awakening Chapter 1 ¨C Awakening Trevor woke up groggily as he groaned and rolled around. ¡°The fuck? It¡¯s goddamn cold, where¡¯s¡¡± As he sat up, rubbing his eyes as he felt brush of cold wind on his face. Wind? He blinked as he looked around and finally realized¡ that there wasn¡¯t a room, let alone a house around him! Where was his bed?! He jumped up letting out a bellow. ¡°WHERE IS MY BED?! GOD DAMN IT¡¡± Grumbling as he thought he was a victim to one of his brothers¡¯ pranks. This wasn''t time to do pranks! He had work today! Oh man, the boss will kill me for being late... I''ll be lucky if I''ll keep my job! Those fuckers... Other breeze rolled by and realization dawned on him... ¡°Hey¡ wait a minute.¡± He looked down to only realize he wasn¡¯t even wearing a single piece of clothing. In other words, he was completely naked. He let out a roar. ¡°You bastard! I¡¯ll get you back, Aaron! Fuck!¡± He grumbled as he took a look around the landscape¡ to only realize that he doesn¡¯t recognize it. ¡°Wait, where I am? This¡¡± He glanced around at empty grassy plains with forest in distance as winds rolled across it with two shining sun in the sky, with one slightly bigger. He blinked and rubbed his eyes then looked at the suns again. ¡°Huh? Two suns? But Earth¡ had¡ only one? Where am¡ I?¡± He looked around nervously, hoping that there was no wild beasts near to him after all he is naked. Sadly his luck was not all that great as strange looking creature ¨C akin to bear with glowing crystals studded across his fur was roaming not far from him. With all sudden actions that Trevor did, it can¡¯t help but notice a delicious meat that¡¯s offering himself to the beast. Naturally it starts to charge after Trevor¡ ¡°Fuck fuck! Why it¡¯s chasing me?! Does God hate me?!¡± As he ran wildly from the bear¡ strangely enough it never managed to catch up Trevor as he hid behind the tree. ¡°God¡ Who knew I could run that fast?¡± He blinks as he attempts to stay quiet as possible. That was when the first hint of his location descended upon him. An automatic voice rang into his head. ¡°You have activated Stealth. To remove its effects, you have to simply think ¡®Stealth Off. It can be turned off by being disruptive such as shouting. Thank you.¡¯-???Then it ended there. Trevor was thoroughly confused. ¡°What?! Stealth? Who are you? Where am I?!¡± as he shouted barricades of questions, to strange voice in his head but alas, there was no answer, forgetting that he was hiding from strange bear that was chasing him. Due to his shouts, even with his Stealth, the bear managed to find him while he was distracted. Trevor could only look up at the giant bear in terror as he flung his fist against the bear¡¯s paw in last desperate attempt to fend him off... And the bear was sent flying across the forest, smashing into the bark of a tree, confusing the bear thoroughly. Also confusing Trevor. ¡°Huh? I¡ just did that? What?¡± As the bear lets out savage roar and charged at the naked human. Trevor could only stand there, absolutely still as his body acted on its own and punched the bear again, promptly pulverizing his head into bloody mess. Now only one in forest is Trevor who has no idea what hell is going on and freaked out for a bit. ¡°¡ I don¡¯t remember myself being this strong.¡± After calming himself down a bit, he looked down at the corpse of the bear that had attacked him. He bent down and took look at it then a realization dawned on him. ¡°Hey, isn¡¯t this The Gem Bear, only measly level 30 creature in Asaris Online? Why it is here¡?¡± He pondered for a bit before laughing. ¡°No way. There¡¯s no way that I somehow got transferred to the world of Asaris and got trapped in here like Light Novels I''ve read! hahaha¡ No way¡ Impossible.¡± He laughed again, shaking his head. How that could be possible, it was utterly ridiculous! ¡°Ah well better to disprove it now rather than later. Let¡¯s see, how those Light Novels do it¡ Ah yeah, something like this... " And unbelievably, it did open up showing various options for his graphic settings and so forth. However it is greyed out and it was not possible to operate it. Trevor could only stand there in disbelief. ¡°No¡ way.¡± He could not believe it, he needed more proof. So next thing he did was shout out ¡°Character Screen!¡± As a translucent screen popped up, stating all status information and it was:
Name(Level):Kain(100)Race:Human
Class:RogueSpecializationGod of Death
Health:946,440Mana:N/A
Strength:2,414Agility:16,412
Intellect:1,414Stamina:15,774
And rest of his status displayed his numbers that was almost exactly same as the ones that he had in Asaris Online¡ expected they had been doubled. Instead of having 473,220 health, he had 946K and everything else was doubled from its original value for some reason. However all of his titles, achievements and so forth was listed right there. There was no question to it. This is the character that he had from Asaris Online but¡ it was different. He muttered out loud. ¡°What the fuck is God of Death?¡± Just as he muttered that¡ An automatic voice rang out in his head. ¡°God of Death is advanced class that is given to highest ranking living being that have achieved under the class ¡®Rogue¡¯ to its maximum potential. The benefits of it that it gives increased status by 2x, special skills and one passive skill. For God of Death classification, you receive ¡®Immortality¡¯ as your passive skill. If you need more information please state ¡®More Information on Thank you.¡± -??? Just like that, the voice came and disappeared. As realization dawned on him. This must... be something like a system that is somehow still operating in this seemingly alive world? He cleared his throat. ¡°Help on Immortality.¡± He could just check his new skills later in the Skillbook. The automatic voice came again; ¡°Immortality: It grants the owner of the title of ¡®God of Death¡¯ immunity from death no matter how grave the death is. However, more grave the death is, longer it takes the user to recover. While you do have safety net of immortality, it is not recommended to use to be reckless. Thank you.'' -System Trevor ¨C or now Kain snorted as the voice disappeared from his head. ¡°Yeah right. As if I would run into my death. That got to hurt.¡± He shakes his head, letting out sigh as he stared at his character screen as he muttered. ¡°Where is my Assassination Spec and Combat Spec too¡?¡± Again, the voice appeared in his head. ¡°Dual Specializations for their class specialization which no longer exists. Due to being one of holders of Dual Specializations, you may have second class as compensation. You can select available class to your race.¡± Kain blinked as he thought about it, wouldn¡¯t that mean I, who is a player is capable of playing rogue and other class at same time?! Abrupt voice popped up in his voice. ¡°No. You can only play one class at any time. It functions much like Dual Specialization. To activate other specialization you will require to take five minutes of concentration and all of your available resources to convert, thereby leaving you utterly weak for a bit. ¡± If you spot this tale on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation. He sighed. That explains the absence of his specs at least. From what he gathered from the voice it would seems all spec and skills of a class has been rolled into one class¡ Interesting. However, I have to get dressed first. I chuckled as I waved my hand. ¡°Item Box.¡± As translucent box appeared front of him¡ Filled to brim with various items. ¡°Hmm, I already decided on the class I will be using so I should dress like it. Nothing too fancy since I don¡¯t know anything about this world even if it is Asaris Online¡ I can¡¯t assume it¡¯s same as what I think it is.¡± As he looked into his item box and found his beloved creation ¨C or at least he used it often in raids and the likes. He wondered what it would be like in this world. Would it still act like NPC or¡? As he pulled out mechanical being out of Item Box, however it was not online. As Kain looked at it and information to operate it just easily flowed into him as though he knew it whole time. He turned it on. It made noises for a bit as it started up and then a resolute voice rang out ¡°ARTIFICAL INTELLIGENCE JEEVES IS NOW ONLINE.¡± -JEEVES Then in next second. ¡°Master Kain, how may I serve you?¡±- JEEVES It acted as though it was living and even smiled at him. If any other denizens were there, they would be flabbergasted since this was extremely, extremely rare and even more so of those beings to bow to other beings it was unheard of! However, Kain knew nothing of this and returned the smile. ¡°Great, I¡¯m glad you¡¯re here, Jeeves. Can you connect to my Void Storage and also see if you can connect to the Guild Bank.¡± -Kain Jeeves made a beeping sound ¡°Acknowledged tasks, executing processes¡¡± ¨CJEEVES Kain made a quiet chuckle, it would look like the beings of this world is truly living, not like those of Virtual Reality¡ Not that it matters. Jeeves¡¯ voice disrupted his thoughts ¡°Proccesses COMPLETED. Void Storage is CONNECTED. Guild Bank of FAILED TO CONNECT due to extraordinary security measures. Do you wish me to attempt break in?¡± ¨CJEEVES Kain shook his head. ¡°No thanks, Jeeves. Please display the Void Storage as I need something from it.¡± he let out embarrassed laugh, after all he was naked! Even if person across him is a machine, he was still embarrassed. JEEVES nodded and executed his request right away as his eyes shone for a bit, displaying entirety of Void Storage for him to browse though. After a while, he finally settled on simple brown robe and wooden stave. Why a level 100 rogue would even have those? Simple answer is that he dislike not having anything. You could say that he is a collector. Kain glanced at my character screen. ¡°Well I guess I am ready. Switch to Second Class!¡± after 5 min of focus he spoke in firm tone to invisible air. As he expected, a voice rang out in his head. ¡°You have switched to Second Class. We have noticed that you have yet to select a class. Please make a selection from: Warrior, Paladin, Mage, Warlock, Druid (LOCKED: Available to Elves only.), Shaman (LOCKED: Available to Orcs only.)¡±-System Kain let out a smile. ¡°In a world where he can fight with his swords¡ but he has already played on that side enough. Time for him to roll as spell caster.¡± he cleared his throat. ¡°I select Mage as my Second Class.¡± The voice rang out: ¡°Are you sure?¡±-System he nodded my head but then he realized this invisible entity probably can¡¯t see him. ¡°Ah, yes.¡±-Kain Soft light enveloped around him, it was soft blue as information rammed into him¡ Or not really. He learned only simple Fire, Water, Wind, Earth and Arcane Balls and Blasts?! Doesn¡¯t mages have super-destructive spells?! He blinked in confusion as he waved his hand. ¡°Status!¡±-Kain As his character screen popped up:
Name(Level):Kain(1)Race:Human
Class:MageProfession:Engineering(700) Leatherworking(700)
Health:154Mana:155
Strength:8Agility:10
Intellect:24Stamina:11
Kain blinked again. Fuck¡ It looks like if he switches to one of class it starts off at bottom. Ah well so much for instantly reaching to peak of the mountain. Those are sure shitty stats¡ he shook my head as he looked around. ¡°Well I need get out of here and reach closest town.¡± He glanced at JEEVES who was standing there, awaiting for next command. ¡°Jeeves, do you know closest town from here?¡± JEEVES quickly processed his request and reported that there was a road not far from where he was standing. Kain grinned and then realized that maybe, JEEVES became rare item or something like that since he doesn¡¯t know what exactly is going on. ¡°Hey Jeeves¡ Can you change your shape?¡±-Kain JEEVES again quickly processed his question and promptly answered ¡°Master Kain, I am able to change my shape at will. Do you wish me to do so?¡± He quickly nodded ¡°Yeah Jeeves. Please change it into bracelet or something like that and remain silent unless I directly tell you to speak.¡± JEEVES quickly executed his orders and transformed himself into a bracelet as Master Kain had ordered. ¡°Is this satisfactory?¡± Kain picked up Jeeves that¡¯s in shape of a bracelet now, it was black with strange markings on it and oddly looked like a machine but it was impossible for it to be in that shape ¨C at least in Earth. ¡°Yeah, this is perfect Jeeves. Thanks, you can go on standby mode now.¡±-Kain Then he set off to find that road that Jeeves had mentioned¡ His journey in Asaris world has only just begun. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Yay! First chapter out after lot of editing and fixing! Again, as reminder - my grammar is not best of best and please give me any kind of feedback - it''ll help me to improve my writing and this story too! (As I have second chapter already written up but it''ll need editing and modifying to make it more sense and flow better with the story! If you guys want me to post up basic general information of the world, please let me know! Otherwise it''ll be incorporated into the story (most likely third chapter or something) Looking forward to the feedback! Also frequency of posting new chapters may vary as I have college and stuff. Danare Chapter 2: Meeting the Denizens of Asaris Chapter 2: Meeting the Denizens of Asaris Kain took other look at his strange bracelet on his right wrist and hoped that it wouldn''t be too strange to have in this world. Now he needed go and find someone to feed him information! Kain sighed as he traveled out of the forest, leaving the corpse of Gem Bear behind to empty grassy plains as wind made soft blow across the plains. The weather was excellent as well, not a spot of cloud in the sky with two suns shining down in all of their majesty. Kain hoped that he wouldn''t have to run across any mobs right now. After all he was only level one mage with basic spells! Kain grumbled as he tried to move across the plains quickly and in direction that his creation, Jeeves had pointed out of closest road. After a while, perhaps around twenty minutes of quick walking without any rude interruptions that he only did finally stumble on something! That was group of humans with a lofty carriage rolled down a path of soil that seemed to be used often. Just as Kain was about to shout out to get their attention, something happened! The wheel broke and the carriage fell down! The guards that were around the fancy carriage was quickly startled taking a quick look around the region -- and quickly noticed Kain! They shouted "HEY! WHAT YOU ARE DOING HERE?!" With their blades and other various weapons holstered toward to Kain. Kain quickly threw up his hand. "Whoa there! I was just leaving the forest to find a civilization and when I was just about to call you guys out, that happened!" The guards were clearly suspicious of this young man. Just as one of the guards -- seemingly to be a guard captain -- was going to say something, only did the figures from the carriage finally came out, curious about the commotion. It was a old fat man. Kain let out a silent sigh, hoping that the noble is not pompous one that looked down on commoners or whatever. The old fat man looked at Kain briefly before glancing at the presumed Guard-Captain then to the broken wheel. "Guard-Captain Falstor, is there any problems that is preventing you from fixing the wheel?" Kain smirked as his presumption was correct! Guard Captain Falstor shook his head. "Well... No, before we could assess the damages, we noticed suspicious figure up there..." The fat noble took other look at Kain before declaring "Don''t worry, young man. I won''t bite, come here and explain your presence here in the Forbidden Plains." The fat man let out a strained smile. Kain blinked, taken aback by the name of the region that he woke up in. It seemed... so evil and malevolent contrary to the peaceful nature that he had seen so far. "Huh? Oh sure." He approached to the fat man, just as he drew closer to the fat man, only he did realize that they had been communicating perfectly fine! Although... It wasn''t his native language! It was this world language! He wondered if it was side-effect of his sudden appearance in this world that seemingly to be carbon copy of Asaris Online. Just as he arrived before the fat man and was about to start speaking... Unfortunately Guard-Captain Falstor shouted "Kneel, peasant! You stand before His Lordship, Viscount Daer of Jaerun House!" Kain just looked at him with dumbfounded face, fortunately Viscount Jaerun had discerning eye and could see this young man was unusual one. "Falstor, don''t worry about it." He waved his hand dismissing the command of the Guard-Captain. Which Kain was slightly grateful for that. After all, in first place he wouldn''t bow to anyone! Viscount Jaerun had unwittingly saved him his face. Viscount Jaerun smiled. "So? Can you explain your presence here?" Kain tilted his head as thousands thoughts went though his mind before finally speaking. "Mm. I grew up in the forest near to here with my grandfather. I have never seen the outside world and my grandfather rarely taught me anything. Although he did teach me some things but he said that it might be outdated because outside world changes often and quickly." Kain shrugged lightly. "He recently died and told me to leave the home in the forest. So here I am." Kain thought it was fairly solid background... Of course if someone don''t go to the actual forests and actually look for non-existent cabin that he had supposedly grew up. Viscount Jaerun give a thoughtful expression before nodding. "That is highly unusual... It seems your grandfather had some problems with some people and hid himself. What of your parents?" Kain had expected this and promptly answered "According to my Grandfather, my father died in a battle and my mother died in childbirth. I am last of my lineage." I spoke with sorrowful tone. I hope my acting abilities was good enough! Viscount Jaerun was taken aback and quickly apologized. "My apologies, I did not mean to give you painful memories. How about I give you a ride to the so-called civilization that you spoke of?" Viscount smiled softly - his guts was telling him that this man would help him out and had good stature! "Your name...? I do not recall you introducing yourself" Kain blinked in surprise before laughing. "Oh yeah, I didn''t. My name is Kain. I would love to join with you but... Isn''t the wheel broken?" He asked the Viscount. Viscount blinked before slapping his forehead. "Right! Falstor? It is doable without the Engineering Art?" Kain blinked at the strange term -- Engineering Art? It shouldn''t be Engineering Skill? Before he could raise his question, the Guard-Captain give his answer promptly. "While you two were conversing, I took a look and it is not doable without it, we will need send someone fo..." Just before the Guard-Captain could finish what he was saying, Kain interrupted them. "Eh? You need someone with Engineering? You''re looking at the person who has it." Kain smirked and wondered if he could ask questions to Jeeves about it. He didn''t want to speak out of loud so he tried using his thoughts Jeeves? Can you respond to my thoughts? And just as he thought that, he received quick response. Jeeves: "Indeed, Master. Do you have a task for me?" Kain smiled as he quickly asked Jeeves what he wanted to ask. Kain: Jeeves, why it is that they refer Engineering Skill as Engineering Art? He heard few beeps in his head as Jeeves executed his inquiry. Jeeves: Master, It seems I do not have access to the World Database for unknown reasons. I cannot execute your inquiry, my apologies Master." Kain let out a sigh, he had to be really impressed with the AI. It actually had a personality, although slightly robotic. He asked Jeeves yet other question although this one was probably dumb one. Kain: Jeeves, it is possible for me to use my Engineering Skill to repair the wheel? Jeeves: Indeed, Master. You have Grand-Master level , it should be within your skills. To call upon Engineering Skill Menu, simply think about it. Although in this situation, Master... I do not advise it. You are in strange situation; where you know nothing of this world. It is better for you to do manually. According to my limited Database of Information, there is two way of using Skills - one is what I just told you, other one is doing it manually by following your instincts." Kain nodded and mentally thanked Jeeves. All of this - took less a minute. Unauthorized use: this story is on Amazon without permission from the author. Report any sightings. Viscount smiled brightly, the heavens had blessed him! "That''s great, Kain. I''ll compensate you for it, of course. Can you please repair the carriage?" Kain let out a soft chuckle. "But of course, you are giving me a ride to civilization. I hope you might will answer some of my questions as I am naive to this world!" Viscount quickly nodded as Kain moved toward to the side of the carriage where the wheel was broken. He looked at it and he just -felt- as though it was easy-peasy like snapping his finger to repair it. ''Seriously... They can''t even do this?'' as that thought floated in Kain''s mind. He shook his head and took to work. By using his godly skill although manually - he still easily repaired the damage and it looked as though it never broke. Viscount and the Guard-Captain was stupefied by this. Viscount let out a nervous laugh. "Wow... It seems you have very high level of Engineering, perhaps?" Kain tilted his head and blurted out "No? This was easy." Viscount and Captain-Guard was on verge of simply fainting. Viscount burst into laughter. "Right, right... You know nothing of common sense of this world." Viscount shook his head and moved to the door of his carriage. "Come in, and we''ll talk more. We need to be on way to Keares City!" Kain nods as he accepted Viscount''s invite and entered his carriage. If anyone else of noble or even commoners would be greatly shocked because commoners was usually not allowed in noble''s carriages! Even the guards around them was slightly shocked but at same not surprised -- after all he had repaired the carriage. They finally started moving toward to the city. Kain chuckles as he was about to bomb the Viscount with a lot of questions! At least the ones that probably can''t be answered in library. Kain: "Alright, can you tell me where am I? Grandfather hated geography and never touched it..." Kain let out weak laugh, shaking his head. Viscount Jaerun: "You are kidding me? We''re on Human Continent! In Kingdom of Saris... It was newly founded only merely two hundred year ago! It is currently ruled by the Saris Family. The current king is Mirom Saris! He''s pretty powerful... Then again, all world leaders are powerful!" Viscount laughed, shaking his head. Kain: "At least now I know where I am.. Grandfather said there was Human Continent, Zaern''thal also commonly known as Elves Continent, Sorched Continent and the Dark Land, right?" Those continents was the ones that was present in game! He really hoped that nothing had changed too much... Viscount looked at Kain strangely. "Well, mostly... yes. Although I''m surprised that you don''t know about Sorched Continent. According to the history, it did indeed exist before the Calamity, but after that... It sank and no longer exists." Kain was surprised. He needed to find out more about Calamity. "What happened to the orcs and other races that lived on it and what this Calamity is?" Kain realized that he probably sounds like some backward person that knows nothing, like some certain individual in a television show... Viscount looks even more surprised. "How you can not know about the Calamity? Ugh... Your Grandfather must be spectacularly lazy! The Calamity happened five hundred year ago; the powerful and famous individual had all but vanished expect for few. There''s some theories that they actually ascended to Heavens... But after they vanished, the world cried out in pain as it shook and heavens fell." Viscount paused, letting out a chuckle. He never thought he would narrate the Calamity to someone who was already well into his teenager years! "Well, several remaining powerful individuals tried to prevent the Calamity... or at least delay it. They did a massive ritual and it succeeded. There was a massive white flash that could be seen by everyone and the World stop crying out in pain and calmed down." Viscount let out a bitter smile. "Although they paid great cost to do so - they used entire continent filled with animals, and millions of useless creatures beside few more intelligent races like the orcs and so on - they already left with Elves'' warning for them to depart the continent immediately. They used the continent to power up their grand spell. So, the Sorched Continent is forever lost. After the Calamity, much happened. Orcs moved into Human Continent and claimed lower part of it. So now we refer the lands that we are currently on as Humans Lands and the lower part of the Human Continent is now referred as Orcs Land." Viscount paused for a moment in his quite long storytelling. "Out of all kingdoms, only single kingdom from the Ancient Era survived the Calamity and passage of time. That would be Kingdom of Arcana." Kain immediately recognized the name. "So that is still around, huh.." Just as Kain was going to ask further questions, they arrived the Keares City and had to be admitted in.. Hopefully everything will go fine. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hello~ Sorry for long wait on next chapter! School, ugh. Anyway, enjoy it! I''ll try to release other one on Sunday as it will contain more information about Asaris Online, such as history, kingdoms, families, ranking systems and more...! As always, I will welcome any feedback and apologize if there is any grammar problems. It is not exactly my best skill. :( Cheerios, Danare
