《The One that Got Away [DROPPED]》 The day I die, Prologue Hello everyone, my name is Simon Bird. I¡¯m currently 19 years old. I¡¯m an ad clicker and I have just finished my high school. I¡¯m an orphan and currently I live by myself in a somewhat decent apartment in Toronto, Canada. My hobby is reading novel and playing games. I¡¯m fluent in English, France, Chinese and somewhat understood Japanese. Chinese and Japanese are extremely useful for my hobby. I love wuxia and xianxia novel and I also love Japanese games, so I don¡¯t have to wait for the English release for them to read or play them. Today, there¡¯s a new game launching called The World online. The World online is a MMORPG that is anticipated by many MMO fans. The game promise things like vast open world, beautiful graphics, vast crafting system, deep economy system, pets, etc. The World online is the only MMORPG that doesn¡¯t have a class requirement for certain skill, so player could build their characters the way the player wanted. But player can only choose 10 skills among the hundred that available. And The World online offer many races that are unlock from the start. Player can also choose to be a half race, combining one race with another. This made the character that each person created to be different. Currently, I¡¯m at the local game store trying to buy The World online. The game is not F2P but P2P. And currently, I¡¯m queuing at the game store line , it is a freaking long line at that. ¡°At this rate, it¡¯s going to be night time until I came home¡± 2 hours later and finally I¡¯m at the counter. The counter lady smiled and said ¡°How may I help you?¡± I smiled back at the lady ¡°Miss I wanted a copy of The World¡± ¡°Sure thing, you want the Ultimate edition, Gold edition or the normal one?¡± ¡°What¡¯s the difference?¡± I asked the lady with confused looks. The lady chuckled and said ¡°The Ultimate edition comes with an exclusive outfit with design fully customizable by the player, a 20 bonus points for stats, and two exclusive skills that player can choose. The Gold edition is pretty much the same but with only the 10 bonus points and only one exclusive skill. The normal one are pretty much normal¡± ¡°So how much is it?¡± I asked while taking out my wallet. ¡°The Ultimate edition are 200 US dollars, the Gold edition are 100 US dollars, and the normal ones are 60 US dollars¡±. It is so freaking expensive those Ultimate and gold edition are. ¡°Fine, give me the Ultimate edition¡± The lady smiled and said ¡°Ok sir, do you want to pay in cash or with card?¡± I gave the money to the lady ¡°With cash, so where¡¯s my game?¡± ¡°Here it is sir. By the way, the server are open tomorrow but you can create your character today. Thanks for purchasing and have a nice day¡± 15 minute walked from the game store and I¡¯m home. At home, I quickly installed the game on my computer. While waiting, I do my job and click on those ads. It is not a bad job. I got around 30 to 50 US dollars per day, so I got around 600 to 1500 US dollars per months. 20 minute later and the game is finally installed. I quickly open it and put on my ID and password. I know that the game promise to have many race, but damn I didn¡¯t expect it to be this many. There are literally every race that existed in those fantasy novels, manga and video games here. Human, elves, dwarf, angel, various kind of demons, dragon, draconian, beast-man, various magical beast, etc. I want to choose human, but they¡¯re too common and ordinary. So I looked at various races that resemble human in physique. There are few that resemble human in physique. There are angel, demons, beast-man, elves, dark elves, dwarf, draconian and vitalex. The descriptions of each race are as follow: Angel A celestial being that are born with majestic wings. They enjoy seclusion deep within the forest. They are good at metallurgy. Legends said that the finest armor and weapon are made by dwarf High physical stats, No magical stats (Cannot learn magic) High magic resistant stats 50% Experience with crafting Draconian Born from dragon and a human, Draconian have both of their traits. While not as long lived and as strong as dragons, Draconian are more versatile than dragons and can learn bunch of things. They resemble human but different. Many thought that they are extinct, but in reality they are merely hiding. Now ready to face the outside world, they began to rise once more to glory they once have. 50% Experience gain 50% Skill experience gain -50% Fame or infamy gain Vital awakening at level 50 Cannot be selected with other race I don¡¯t know why but in the end, I choose vitalex. There¡¯s something in that race that intrigue me. My gaming instincts tell me so. Since vitalex is a race that cannot be selected with other race I then proceed to customize my character, so that means no Halfling. I customize my character with long blue hair and a fairly handsome face. I choose red for his eyes, and I choose my physique to be somewhat athletic. I made my character around 180 cm tall. Finally, I named my character Simon Bird. And with that I finished creating my character. Then I hear my stomach grumbling. I check my fridge, but it was empty. I ended up going out looking for food. Surprisingly it is still 6 pm, the time when people going home from work. Just when you think that nothing in this world would surprise you anymore, the world just love to prove you just how wrong you are. ¡°BANG BANG BANG¡± ¡°DON¡¯T MOVE!!!!¡± said a person while holding a gun pointing it right next to someone¡¯s head. ¡°Easy buddy¡­ We could talk this through¡± somebody was trying to calm him down. ¡°TALK ? I HAD PLENTY OF IT. YOU¡¯RE ALL CRAZY. WHY MUST YOU FOLLOW ALL OF THIS BULLSHIT AND BE JUST FINE¡± said the man angry. ¡°Bullshit? What bullshit? The only bullshit here are you holding a gun next to that man¡± said another guy. ¡°You¡­you¡¯re crazy. What kind of bull are you saying? I¡¯ve done nothing wrong and you suddenly¡­.¡± ¡°BANG¡± Before the man finished talking, his head already been shot and blood spurt everywhere and screams can be heard. ¡°Before this escalated further, let¡¯s escape¡± I think while slowly slipping through the crowd. ¡°YOU¡­. I WILL RELEASE YOU FROM THIS PAIN CALLED LIFE¡± shouted the man holding a gun while pointing the gun right at me. ¡°BANG¡± Shot¡¯s fired and went straight to my chest. Apparently I¡¯m going to die. What life this was, dying to a crazy man holding a gun. Sigh¡­ Now I won¡¯t get a chance to play The World. It seems I grow a few cm long. My body feels weird. I cannot walk properly, and my balance is a mess. I look at my hands and feet. It appears it grow bigger a bit. I wear plain clothes and plain pants. I also wear some kind of medieval leather shoes. ¡°So, I get a different body then¡± I quickly connect the dots. From the looks of my surrounding, this isn¡¯t earth. Earth, in this day of age doesn¡¯t have this kind of scenery anywhere. I then begin to look for sign of life. Luckily, there¡¯s a forest nearby. ¡°Wow¡­. This forest is beautiful. And the air¡­. Wow just wow¡± Simon mumbled while travestying through the forest. ¡°Roaaaaaar¡± a majestic roar can be heard deep within the forest ¡®What was that? Some kind of beast? Let¡¯s check it out¡¯ Simon, hearing the roar quickly ran to the direction of the roar. ¡°Quickly back up. Archer fire¡± said man who looked like someone in the mid-thirties. He seems to be the leader. He led a party of 5. There are 2 women and 3 men including himself. One woman is wearing some kind of leather armor. She wields a bow. She has long blonde hair, green eyes. She is about 160 cm and had curve all in the right place, on top of that she is pretty. The other woman is wearing some kind of robe, like a mage robe in many video games. She has short blue hair and blue eyes. She looks like a teenager and she is about 140 cm tall. The 3 men wear various kind of armor. The man in the mid-thirties wears heavy armor. He had a sword and shield. He looks sturdy as hell. The other 2 man have the same face. They appear to be twins. But one of them had scar on his cheeks. They have red hair and golden eyes. They wear similar armor, which is leather armor. They both had swords on each hand. The beast they are fighting with look like some kind of lion, but with red fur and 2 tails. It is very big and very tall beast. ¡°Roaaar¡± after a barrage of arrow by the blonde hair woman, the beast seems weaken. ¡°All of you attack now¡± shouted the man in heavy armor. They then begin their all-out attack. The attack begin with the man in heavy armor. He slammed his shield on the beast head. Then the twins begin slashing at the beast body. The archer woman shoots the beast body multiple times. ¡°It is ready, retreat¡± said the mage woman. Then a massive ice shard appears on top of the woman head and quickly stroke the beast. ¡°Roaaaar¡± the beast let out its final roar before dying. I was on the side gaping at awe seeing such battle seems to trigger something within me. I step back a bit and I accidentally step on a branch. *Kreek* ¡°Who¡¯s there?¡± shouted the archer woman while pointing her bow at me. ¡°Easy there tiger¡± I said while walking towards the group ¡°Who are you?¡± asked one of the twins. ¡°I don¡¯t know. I don¡¯t remember. All I could say is that my name is Simon and that¡¯s it¡± I said. I thought that by playing stranger who don¡¯t remember who he was is the best move right now. ¡°Sounds suspicious, what should we do captain?¡± said the other twins. ¡°Bring him with us. Judging by his tethered clothes and he has no weapon he should pose no danger to us¡± Meand the group traveled together. But before that, the group skinned that lion-like beast. They said that the lion-like beast skin are a precious material needed for their quest. From what I gather, they are adventurer. I also learn their names. The captain¡¯s name is Greg. He is a B rank adventurer. The twins name is Leon and Kennedy. They are both C rank adventurer. The blonde woman is Ashley. She is 22 years old and she is a C rank adventurer also. The blue haired woman is Lulu. She is 16 years old and she is a D rank adventurer. Apparently, Lulu just graduated from Royal Magic Academy and become an adventurer. A genius would fit her as normally people would only graduate from Royal Magic Academy at the age of 18-20. They also told me that this forest is famous for adventurer looking to hunt monster. The monster here is high leveled and is good for progression. ¡°High leveled? Level?¡± I was so surprised that I let my voice out loud. ¡°Yes level. Why? You don¡¯t have one?¡± asked Lulu ¡°I don¡¯t know. I don¡¯t remember¡± I said with a dumb look on my face ¡°Just say status and it would show you your level and attributes. By the way, I¡¯m level 50¡± said Lulu with a proud look in her eyes. ¡°Ashley here is level 46, Leon and Kennedy here is level 44 and 45 and the captain is level 63¡± added Lulu. ¡°Huh let¡¯s see¡­ Status¡± ============================================================= You haven¡¯t selected your skill yet Do you want to select your skill now? I said yes and a list of skill appears before me. I then take my time to pick the skill carefully so that I can survive in this world. Maybe there you will remember something¡± added Leon ¡°Ohh¡± We walked for about 15 minutes before we reach something that can only be seen in medieval age. A stone wall about 15 meters tall can be seen. There are guard tower at the stone wall and a queue of people trying to get pass the stone wall. Then I hear Ashley said ¡°Welcome to Ebony town¡± Chapter 2, Unknown?? ¡°Welcome to Ebony town¡± said Ashley I gape at awe with how the town looks. Only one word can describe the town, lively. The town streets are full of merchant trying to sell their stuff. There are also children playing around with happy look on their faces. People are chatting left and right. There are many groups of people similar to Timber Tusk. I¡¯m guessing that they are also adventurer. Timber Tusk is the name of Greg adventurer group by the way. The town buildings are all medieval style. The town layout is also designed to repel invader. There is only one entrance to enter the town. There¡¯s also an escape route behind the government center. The houses are arranged like a spiral to cause invader to wrap around so the defender can directly strike at them. Of course the invader can also destroy the houses that are blocking them, that is if they are willing to be hit straight from the government center. Government center serves also as where the army is staying. I only found out later that this Ebony town serves as a border between the human kingdom and demon continent. I also see many different kind of humanoid being. Long and pointy ears people, I¡¯m guessing that it is an elves. Short humanoid being that is dwarf and some people with animal ears and tail. I also find out that slavery is banned in this world. The only part of the world that allowed slavery is the demon continent. After I had enough sightseeing, the group and I walked towards the adventurer guild. I¡¯m surprised that they allowed me to sightsee. The adventurer guild is located near the entrance of the town. The group figures it would be best for me to register as an adventurer as being a member can grant access to many beneficial things and adventurer guild can protect me seeing as I¡¯m still at level 1. As we enter the building, we are greeted by a very beautiful lady ¡°Welcome to the Ebony branch adventurer guild. How may I help you all?¡± says the beautiful lady with a smile on her face. This beautiful lady has pink hair and blue eyes. And man oh man, her rack are huge. She appears to be an elf too ¡°Hello Freya. I have someone who wishes to join the guild¡± says Ashley ¡°Oh it¡¯s you lot. So is it this young man?¡± says Freya while pointing her finger towards me ¡°Hi, my name is Simon and I would like to register as an adventurer¡± I says with a smile ¡°Oh my¡­ What a handsome young man. Sure you can, just touch this stone and this will tell us about your status¡± says Freya Handsome? I don¡¯t recall being handsome in my whole life. Maybe my appearance changed when I get here. But wait a minute¡­. My race is Vitalex and not human, does that mean that my appearance is the same as my character from The World? That explains it. My height was changed, my hands were bigger and my legs were longer. I touched the stone and there¡¯s a strange light envelope me. Than out of nowhere, the stone turns into a plate. ¡°This is your ID card. I told her that I don¡¯t know but she just kept pestering me like a child to her mother. Tomorrow came and we went to the adventurer guild once again. Once there, we were greeted by an old man who looks like he is in his 70. ¡°So this is the oddity huh?¡± says the old man ¡°Yes he is sir¡± says Freya ¡°Hmmm¡­. Welcome to the adventurer guild odd one¡± says the old man with a grin ¡°Hello¡± I replied ¡°Well, let¡¯s get you to the training room. Would you mind coming alone?¡± says the old man ¡°Sure no problem¡± I said ¡°Are you crazy? Ebony town¡¯s adventurer guild master are famous for his craziness. What if something happened to you?¡± says Lulu worried. Lulu has gotten pretty close to me this past few days so it''s natural if she is worried about me. I''m grateful though ¡°Tsk¡­.tsk¡­.tsk¡­. Little girl, who said I¡¯m crazy?¡± the old man frowned ¡°I¡¯m sorry guild master. This humble man subordinate cannot control herself¡± says Greg ¡°Fine¡­.
