《A Peaceful World》
Prologue - Obtaining peace
Eden¡¯s school life is always busy. During school all the class projects are always pushed onto him but there is no rest for him at home either. His two older sisters leave him to do all the chores as his parents work overseas and put the oldest in charge. Even when he gets time to himself he still can¡¯t relax from all the racket and noise his sisters make and to only leave a mess afterwards that he has to deal with.
But this all changes today, its summer vacation and his parents are sending 3 capsules for the game they helped develop. One for him and 2 for his older sisters. While his sisters are in the game Eden can finally relax and enjoy the silence he never had as this game isn¡¯t just an ordinary game but a virtual reality game. The first of its kind and supplies the body with nutrients and exercise while playing to increase the game time as well as a function to prevent interruptions which can be turned toggled at will.
Ding-dong
¡°Here it is!¡± Eden shouted running towards the door. He open the door such enthusiasm that the delivery man almost fell from the shock
¡°Owa-ah, Mr Shaul?¡±
¡°Yep, that¡¯s me¡±
¡°Then please sign here¡± Eden signed the documents and handed them back to the delivery man.
¡°Hold on a moment, I¡¯ll bring them up¡± the delivery man said as he walked to his van.
After the capsules were brought in they set them up and ¡®they¡¯ means Eden sets them up as his two sisters watch and complain he is too slow.
¡°Hurry up Eden, I want to play the game¡±
¡°Yeah, you¡¯re so bad at this¡±
¡®If I¡¯m so bad at this then do it your bloody selves¡¯
¡°Almost done¡± proclaimed Eden as he fiddled with the machines. After ten minutes of fiddling he finally set up the machines.
This narrative has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. If you see it on Amazon, please report it.
¡°I¡¯m finished¡± said Eden as he looked proudly at his work.
¡°Finally¡±
¡°About time¡± complained Eden¡¯s sisters as they climb into the capsules and power it up.
¡°Are they in?¡± said Eden as he cautiously walks over to the capsules. He looks at the machine and taps on it
¡°hello?¡± Eden looks at the capsule for a bit with a big smile on his face
¡°he, hehehehe, they in, I¡¯m free, what should I do first? Should I watch TV or should I just enjoy the peace?¡± Eden says while frolicking around the house. In the end he decide to just relax and enjoy the silence.
Sadly the silence only lasted half an hour as he started to hear familiar voices. In a panic from his peace being broken he ran over to the capsules only to see his sisters out with annoyed expression on their faces.
¡°Why are you out already?!¡±
¡°Listen to this Eden, when we started the game we were completely naked!¡±
¡°And that¡¯s not all, there was absolutely nothing, no town, no swords, no magic, nothing!¡±
¡°So you¡¯re not gonna be playing the game anymore?¡±
¡°Nah, who wants to play a game naked?¡±
¡°If I wanted to be in the wilderness then I would go camping, that would be more fun¡±
Eden is shocked, he doesn¡¯t know what to do, and his plans are ruined now. Without his sister in the game then his peace would be gone, only if he could think of a way to get his sisters back in the game
¡°It can¡¯t be that bad, mom and dad designed it after all, why don¡¯t you give another try?¡±
¡°¡±no¡±¡± they both simultaneously answered. There was nothing Eden could do, his peace is gone, his whole summer is ruined, but then he had a thought
¡®If they¡¯re outside the game then I¡¯ll go inside the game¡¯
Chapter 1 - into the world
Eden looks at the capsule in front of him.
¡®this thing sure looks strange¡¯ The capsule could be described as a sci-fi coffin. Eden was slightly worried about entering such a thing but ended up going in anyway. Eden opened the lid of the capsule and laid down in it. Surprisingly the capsule was quite comfy and the back seemed to meld into his body shape. Eden closed the lid and activated the capsule.
¡°capsule on¡±
Eden vision go completely black. He started to panic for a moment thinking the capsule has malfunctioned but then a message appeared before him
New user detected. Would you like to make a new account?
Eden calmed down after realising the system is working completely and answers.
¡°yes¡±
Account created. Please choose name please note that using your real name is not advised
¡°I can¡¯t use my real name? hmmm, what should I use? Ra, Re, Ma, dunno¡±
Do you want to accept your name as Raremadunno
¡°No, redo, by god please, redo¡± after 15 minutes of repeating this process Eden finally decided on a name.
¡°Quill¡±
Do you want to accept your name as Quill?
¡°yes¡±
Only race available is human
Your chosen race is human
¡®Why is there an option for race if there¡¯s only one option? That should be taken out, oh well, I wanted to be human anyway¡¯
Humans have no option to change gender
Humans have no option to change appearance
¡®¡what¡¯s the point of this¡¡¯
Your starting place will be random
¡®At least they didn¡¯t give me pointless options this time¡¯ Quill¡¯s vision flashed white then there was green.

¡®Green? Plants?¡¯ it wasn¡¯t his vision that was green but the plants in front his face. After reorganising his mind Eden tried to move but felt slight force against him.
Rustle, rustle
¡°Why am I in a bloody bush?!¡± Quill makes his way out of the bush
¡°seriously, what would they do if someone started inside a rock?¡± Quill looked down to see himself in a green dense forest populated with rabbits as far as the eye can see. Quill then looked down to notice that his body was completely naked
¡®you really do start naked, good thing there¡¯s no one around¡¯ Quill walks towards the rabbits wearily as he heard there¡¯s no friendly animals in these types of games. A rabbit takes notice of quill and starts to approach him. Quill prepares himself to be attacked by a vicious rabbit. He has never been so on guard before for such a small thing, as the rabbit is two hops away from Quill, he closes his eyes instinctively expecting pain to overwhelm him but there was no such thing. In fact, he feels a warm sensation on his leg. Quill opens his eyes and looks down to see the rabbit cuddling up to his leg.
¡°I¡¯m an idiot¡± Quill couldn¡¯t help but facepalm over the embarrassment of fearing such a cute creature. Quill is just glad no one was around to see it. Quill bends down and strokes the rabbit before shooing it back to the other rabbits.
¡®Well at least it¡¯s quiet¡¯ Quill decides to lie down on the grass. At first he was surprised at how realistic the grass felt, even the smell of the grass was realistic. Soon after Quill was fast asleep only to be woken by a heavy mass on his chest.
¡°uh¡ah? Rabbit? Again? Shoo shoo¡± the rabbit fled with such speed it would be hard to believe a rabbit was just there. Quill stood up and to his surprise saw no rabbits around at all.
¡®what¡¯s going on?¡¯ as soon as Quill thought that he heard a growl coming from behind him. He quickly turns to see sharp white things and some weird long red thing that seems to be wet. Quill felt a force push him backwards onto the floor and that was when quill realised, it was a mouth.
Quill panicked and starts to punch the thing connected to the mouth as the mouth covered his head. Quill started to feel pain as the teeth start to dig into him and tear his flesh in motion with his punches but still, he kept punching and punching but the mouth was still there. There was nothing Quill could do. Accepting his fate he stopped punching and dropped his arms but his right hit something hard, harder than the ground should be. It was a rock. At that moment Quill had hope, it was small hope but enough hope for Quill. He grabbed the rock and with as much strength as he can muster he struck the mouth.
¡°Awoooooo¡±
The mouth finally lets go and Quill can finally see the form of his attacker. Four legs, brown fur and of course, sharp teeth. It is a wolf. Quill doesn¡¯t know what to do, this wolf is definitely dangerous but he has no belief that he can outrun it. His only option is to fight.
Chapter 2 - pondering menus
Quill and this wolf stare each other down. His heart is pounding, beads of sweat start to fall as he squeezes the rock in is hand. The sound of growling tormenting him of his fate. After what seems to be forever the first move is finally made. The wolf pounces at Quill but Quill was waiting for this. Before the wolf manages to reach him Quill swings his arm at the wolf hitting the side of the body but it wasn¡¯t strong enough and only phased the wolf a little but enough to knock the wolf slightly off course for him to evade.
The wolf seems to be wearier of its prey after being attacked twice and backs off a bit to scan its surroundings. Quill notices this and takes this opportunity to attack. He runs up and kicks the wolf with all he has sending the wolf flying. But the wolf isn¡¯t finished yet. It stands back and growls at its prey before slowly backing up and disappearing into the forest.
Quill stares into the part of the forest the wolf disappeared to until he is sure the wolf is gone then collapses to the ground
¡°That was a close one, thought I was a goner¡±
As soon as Quill finally starts to relax something caught his eye.
messages has been re-enabled as combat as ended
¡®I guess that makes sense, I think I would be dead if I had a message in the middle of a fight¡¯
On closing that message another message popped up
| For protecting the rabbits from their predators when you were clearly weaker than the predator you have gained familiarity with the rabbits
Familiarity with Rabbits increased by 20 |
¡®Familiarity with rabbits? Does that mean all rabbits or just the ones that live here?¡¯
Quill pondered this for a moment before until the pain from his wounds finally hit him as the adrenaline wears off
¡°For a game this is pretty painful, though it would probably be worse in real life¡ how am I gonna deal with these wounds? Do they naturally heal or do I have to get treated? ¡±
Quill ponders again before sighing
¡® well, there¡¯s only one way to find out¡¯
As he was about to get up, a few rabbit hop toward him carrying plants in their mouths. Curious about the rabbits Quill decided to stay seated and see what they are going to do. The rabbits stop in front of him and start chewing the plants then started to climb onto him and spit the what was now green gloop onto his wounds.
For having medicinal herbs applied to your wounds your natural regeneration has increased by 200%
¡°So it seems natural healing is a thing but can be increased through treatment, very interesting¡±
While thinking about this Quill had another thought.
¡¯Shouldn¡¯t there be stats in this game?¡¯
Quill looked around in his peripheral vision for a while
¡¯doesn¡¯t seem to be any icons or anything, maybe its voice controlled¡¯
¡°Open stats¡±
Quill waiting expectantly only for nothing to happen
¡¯wrong command maybe?
¡°Open window stats¡±
Yet again nothing happens
¡¯I must be missing something here¡ or maybe there are no stats? This is a pretty odd game, it wouldn¡¯t be surprising if they had an odd system as well¡¯
As Quill is pondering the mechanics of the game the rabbits have finished treating his wounds and have jumped down from him pulling his awareness back to his surroundings.
¡°Oh uh, thanks for the treatment¡±
The rabbits hop away from him to join their fellow rabbits which have come out of hiding as he was getting treated. Quill looks at his wounds only to once again realise that he is naked
¡¯I need some clothes, I¡¯ve been lucky not to come across another player so far.
If you discover this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation.
Quill gets up and looks at his surroundings, there are only plants, trees, and rabbits around. He could kill the rabbits and use their fur but not only has he not got the tools nor skills to fashion them into clothes but he didn¡¯t want to kill the ones that treated his wounds.
''It seems plant clothes it is, if I can do it that is''
As mentioned before he has no tools or skills to create clothing. That includes any materials. Quill starts to wander about but not straying too far from the rabbit¡¯s territory looking at the plants to see what could be usable.
After a while he came across a large leaf with a long stem.
¡¯Maybe I can do something with this¡¯
He picks the leaf and thinks for a while
¡¯Maybe if I use the stem like a belt
He lowered the leaf to cover his private regions then wrapped the stem around his waist and tied it into a knot. He tried moving around in it but felt unhappy with it.
¡¯ the leaf is too flappy, maybe if I tuck it in the back¡¯
Quill pulled the leaf between his legs and tucked it into the stem around his waist. He moved around once more to test out his new clothes.
¡¯still not that good but better than nothing
Just as he was going to move back to the rabbit¡¯s habitat a message popped up
| Although very primitive you are the first player to wear clothing you have gained some fame
Fame has increased by 50 |
¡°Seriously!¡±
He couldn¡¯t believe it. Within the entire game no one has worn any clothes yet and he has only worn a bloody leaf. After getting over the shock of the other players lack of clothes he thought of something
¡¯if the other player haven¡¯t even got clothes yet, could it be that no players have discovered any towns? Or maybe there are no towns?
Quill thought of many possibilities on the way back to the rabbit habitat. Once he got back to the habitat he noticed the irritation on his inner thighs due to the width of the leaf.
¡¯Should I just tear off the unnecessary parts? No, there¡¯s too much risk of it tearing the wrong way, it would be better to cut it, if only I had a knife
While thinking of this he spots the rock he used earlier and similar rocks around it. From that he had an idea
¡¯I¡¯ll just make one
Quill picked up two rocks and started to hit one rock with another. After a while both of the rocks have a small chip in them.
¡°It works!¡±
After a few hours of chipping away one of the rocks start to have a pointed end sharp enough to cut.
¡°Finally finished¡±
Elated with his finished work Quill almost forgot the reason why he was making the thing. Quill was going to pull off his leaf but a message popped up
you have learnt the Carving skill
¡°What! A skill!¡±
Eden was even more elated, he earned a skill while at the same time finding out there are skills in the game
¡¯How do I check skills?¡¯
¡°Open skills¡±
Nothing happens
¡°Open skills menu¡±
Nothing happens again
¡°Open skills window¡±
Still nothings happens
¡°This bloody game, how am I supposed to do anything if I can¡¯t access the menu?¡±
As Quill starts to calm down he noticed the rabbits have hidden again. Remembering from last time he quickly jumped onto his feet and scanned his surroundings. From the forest he could see a sight that sent shivers down his spine. All he could remember was the pain he was suffering earlier. It was the wolf from earlier but that was not all. He brought two wolf friends with him.
chapter 3 - white fluffy death
¡°why me?¡±
Quill sighed as he looked around to see if there¡¯s a chance of escape. Seeing the wolves coming closer towards him it is clear the wolves have already spotted him and it¡¯s clearly impossible to outrun a wolf. Gripping his newly carved rock in his right hand Quill has only one thought in his mind.
¡¯If i¡¯m gonna die then i¡¯m at least taking one down with me¡¯
Quite a foolish thought but he didn¡¯t care at the moment. He came to this game to get some peace from other people but now the creatures in the game are getting in his way as well. Annoyed at this, most of the logical reasoning in his head has vanished.
Quill rushed at the closest wolf while screaming. He swung his pointed rock only to hit air. Pain fills his left arm as he sees the wolf biting town on it. screaming yet again from both adrenaline and pain he swung down the pointed rock stabbing the eye of the wolf. The wolf howls in pain as it let go of his arm. He strikes the wolf again while screaming but with more pain than adrenaline. The other two wolves have attacked his thighs digging their teeth in. His vision start to blur as he sees the wolf in front of him collapse. seeing this, the goal he set out to do with these wolves accomplished. he collapsed onto his back accepting his death. Staring at the blue sky awaiting his death he wondered why he did not realise the sky was so beautiful. The pain was starting to ease
¡¯at least the pain gets numb as you approach death, at least this game did something nice¡¯
His vision starts to get blurrier as it turns from the blue sky to pure white. His body starts to feel heavy but it wasn''t unbearable, more like a light pressure.
¡¯wait a minute, this white i¡¯m seeing, it looks¡ furry...and feels warm and fluffy¡¯
Quill realising something odd bolts up and his vision turns from white fluffiness back the the green forest. Looking down on his lap he sees the source of the white fluff vision, a rabbit along with the green gloop from before.
¡°I¡¯m... alive?¡±
Quill then looks around him and sees two wolves but something is off about them. They are thrashing about and have white things sticking out of them in contrast to their grey fur. Quill instantly realised what they were for he had one a moment ago, rabbits.
Quill quickly gets up sending the rabbit on his lap flying and picks up his only weapon, the pointed rock and charges at one of the wolves and swung down at the grey parts trying to avoid hitting any rabbits. The wolf thrashing increased even more, the wolf wasn¡¯t dead just yet. Quill kept stabbing this wolf till it finally collapsed then repeated the process on the second wolf.
With all three wolves dead Quill could finally relax. There were some rabbits that died but most lived. Quill now waited for the notifications to come up again to signify the end of the battle and it did.
messages has been re-enabled as combat as ended
| For protecting the rabbits from their predators when you were clearly weaker than the predators twice you have gained familiarity with the rabbits
Familiarity with Rabbits increased by 20 |
For being willing to die while protecting the rabbits from predators more than once and even taking one of the predators down with you, you have earned the title ¡®Rabbit Guardian
¡¯Rabbit guardian? maybe that''s why they came to save me? or maybe it was the familiarity? or a bit of both? who knows how this odd game works¡ am I destined to be with rabbits for the rest of this games life?¡¯
For having medicinal herbs applied to your wounds your natural regeneration has increased by 200%
you have learnt the Stab skill
Quill looks at the rabbits around him as some come to heal his wounds giving him some more time to think.
¡¯Putting aside the whole rabbit thing, another skill, this is my second one but I have no way of checking what they actually do. Carving is quite straightforward, increases my ability to carve but stab, increasing my ability to stab? Or is it a skill you activate? No menus really make this game difficult. And another thing, the first wolf died after two hits so why did the other wolves take much more?¡¯
¡°ah¡±
¡¯the first wolf was the previous wolf from before so it was already damaged and if you include the possibility that the wolves have varying strengths then it makes sense¡ sort of¡¯
while lost in thought Quill hears the sound of growling very close to him, too close in fact, close to the point that it¡¯s his stomach
Unauthorized usage: this tale is on Amazon without the author''s consent. Report any sightings.
¡¯better go get something to eat¡ wait, am I game world hungry or real world hungry...game world, the capsule does that for me¡¯
After the treatment by the rabbits is over Quill stood and went towards one of the wolves and stared at it for a moment.
¡°well food is food¡±
Quill moved the wolf onto its back and brought his pointed rock close to it
¡¯the first thing is to gut it right?
Quill very carefully cut down down the stomach with much difficulty but managed to open up the wolf without many problems arising. Inside were all the organs you expect to see in the wolf such as the heart and other essential organs.
¡¯I can¡¯t believe how real they made this for a game¡ I might be sick¡¯
Quill held the need to vomit as his gag reflexes were acting up. After a bit of calming down he was able to continue. He first tried to just take the organs out by hand only to fail immensely as the blood starts to spurt
¡°ahhh, that was bad, that was bad!¡± Quill shouted trying to put the organ back into the wolf. After that failure Quill decided that wasn¡¯t the way to gut a wolf.
¡¯maybe I should have drained the blood first¡¯
Quill then made a slit on an artery by its neck to try and drain it of the blood by picking up the wolf and shaking it to try to get every last bit of blood out only to fail miserably and make a bloody mess.
¡°i¡¯m definitely researching on how to do this properly when I log out¡±
Laying the half drained corpse of the wolf onto the bloody mess in front of him, he starts cutting organs out of the body while every now and then causing a mess due to inexperience but did manage to remove the bladder without rupturing it gladly enough.
After all organs were removed he started try and skin the wolf. He first looked at his previous cut to the skin and decided to start from there. He attempted to cut in between the muscle and the skin in order to get the legs out of the skin and proceeded to do this with the rest of the body. There were parts where he dug too deep and had chunks of meat still on the skin or accidentally punctured the skin so it was a very badly done job.
¡¯well, it¡¯s good enough for my first attempt¡ at least it wasn¡¯t as bad as my gutting attempt¡¯
He looked what was left of the wolf. Ii was simply just meat stuck onto bones and that was when he realised a very crucial thing.
¡°...I can¡¯t cook¡ I need a god damn fire!¡±
After quill calms down he goes searching for materials for a fire. After half an hour of searching he managed to find a bundle of dry leaves, some twigs, a few sticks and a really thick branch. Quill puts the thick branch on the floor and uses his pointed rock to drill a small hole into the branch. The dry leaves were put on top of the hole while a stick was inserted into the hole through them. Quill then used his hands to spin the stick and grind it against the branch in hope of some sparks.
¡¯This may have only worked once for me while camping but lets hope the game will help me¡¯
After a while of doing this a spark finally appeared and embers lit on the leaves, Quill started blowing on the leaves to get oxygen to the embers and eventually the embers turned into a flame.
¡°yes! finally, I can cook¡±
you have learnt the FireMaking skill
Quill briefly looked at the message without it processing it in his mind as he was elated over his success and is too hungry to care at the same time.
¡°time for food!¡±
Quill went over to what¡¯s left of the wolf and cut some meat off, put a stick through it and cooked it over the fire. The meat was tough and wasn¡¯t as good as beef or chicken but it was still good, it¡¯s meat after all.
When Quill finished eating his fill he looked over towards the rabbits to only see a group of rabbits all in a line facing him with leaves, berries and carrots laid out in front of them as if presenting them to him.
¡°seriously¡ after all that¡ and I¡¡±
Quill looks down for a moment, takes a long breath in and
¡°fuuuuuuaaaaaaaaaaaaa!¡±
Quill takes a few deep breaths to calm himself down. He then begins to think of what he should do next
¡¯should I continue to make comfier clothes? I got wolf pelt now for clothing but thats the thing, wolves, there might be more. Should I prioritise defending myself and try to make a more useful weapon? or should I skin the other wolves now before they start to rot? do they rot? how realistic is this game going to take this? probably very with the wolves anatomy but I do want to research how to skin and gut them properly first¡ alright i¡¯ll log off, learn how to skin and gut animals then log back on before my sisters realise i¡¯m out of the game then skin the wolves¡wait a minute¡ log out¡ how do I log out?¡¯
¡°fuuuuuuaaaaaaaaaaaaa!¡±
chapter 4 - water and crafting
¡°deep breaths, calm down Eden, you¡¯re just stuck inside a game with no idea how to get out and have no way of contacting the outside world, no don¡¯t think, clear my mind¡±
Quill takes a few deep breaths ignoring everything around him and focuses on his breathing. knowing the start of the breath with the inhale, awareness of the natural gap between inhale and exhale and the full release of the exhale. Whenever things got a bit too much for Quill he would always start to focus on his breathing to help him keep calm and collected though normally he would only do this in public except for those rare moments where his anger or annoyance was at his peak as it is now. After a few minutes Quill was starting to feel more calm and relaxed and closed his eyes to focus even more and get rid of all the negativity of his emotions and give himself a rational mind once again.
a few hours pass with Quill just sitting there in this state until he finally opens his eyes feeling fully calm and collected. As he does so he sees a message in front of him.
you have learnt the Breathing skill
''another skill? there seems to be a skill for just about anything, even normal activities like breathing. Odd only now I got this skill, you¡¯d think it¡¯ll be the first skill you get. Is there a walking skill as well? oh well, better to have the skill than not seems as I¡¯m stuck here for a while''
the skill Breathing has leveled up
the skill Breathing has leveled up
the skill Breathing has leveled up
the skill Breathing has leveled up
the skill Breathing has leveled up
the skill Breathing has leveled up
¡°holy, it''s level central here!¡±
¡¯skills have levels? that''s interesting, so if I level the stab skill to the max would I be able to pierce through anything and max carving skill would carve to the finest detail? then what would max breathing do? let me calm down quicker? let me breathe better? I guess the only way to find out is to level them up¡¯
After closing the message Quill was expecting to see the green forest he¡¯s been in all this time and that he did, but there was one difference. It was dark, very dark and the rabbits were nowhere to be seen. Quill wouldn¡¯t be able to see at all if it wasn¡¯t for the fire he made and that was on it¡¯s way out.
¡°what the hell happened!¡±
Quill couldn¡¯t believe it¡¯s dark already. He knew it takes him a while to calm down but it never went past 15 minutes but now it took him till the sun came down. to be fair, it was already late in the day and would only take a few hours to set but to be completely unaware of those hours passing without him even realising was quite a shock to take in.
¡°either I was really, really mad or this is the effect of the breathing skill¡±
Quill mumbled this to himself before looking around to confirm he couldn¡¯t see any rabbits then looked towards his fire.
¡¯I should add more fuel to the fire as I can¡¯t use the rabbits fluffy goodness for warmth, seriously, I thought they would treat their guardian a bit more nicely¡¯
Quill grabbed some dry leaves while being slightly annoyed that the rabbits simply left him. Even though it has only been a day Quill had at least bonded a bit with the rabbits that healed his wounds, brought him food and saved his life. After all this he simply didn¡¯t think the rabbits would simply leave without any warning even though they have done exactly that twice before this.
¡°guess it¡¯s just me and my oversized leaf¡±
Quill grumbles to himself feeling slightly lonely as he lies down next to the fire before drifting off into the land of dreams.
When Quill woke up he discovered his fire has completely gone out, the sun is in the sky and the rabbits are lazing about
¡¯now they show up¡¯
still feeling sore about being abandoned last night he starts to plan what to do today
''the first thing I should do is increase my survivability. I don¡¯t know how the death system in this game works but I sure as hell don¡¯t want to find out, almost dying hurt like a bitch so dying should be ten times worse right? So to increase my survivability I guess I need to gather materials, get a better weapon than this rock, it¡¯s sharp but it¡¯s still just a rock and I need to try to level up some of my skills as they are the only game-like thing in this game so far''
Confirming his goals for the day Quill gets up to realise an important factor for survival, water. He would have completely forgot about if he didn¡¯t realise his throat was dry as a desert from not drinking for an entire day
¡¯Of course, if there¡¯s hunger in this game then why wouldn¡¯t there be thirst. That''s complete common sense, can¡¯t believe I didn¡¯t think of this sooner. Top priority, find water. There must be a water source close for the rabbits to drink so I got two options. Option one, search for the source of water randomly or option two, watch the rabbits and follow them to the water. Both of these options have their cons. Option one has no directive, I could be walking in the completely wrong direction without even knowing it. And option two could be a complete waste of time, there are simply too many rabbits and if I decide to follow a rabbit then I have no idea whether it is going to water or not''
After contemplating which option to choose he ultimately decided to go with option one so he could gather some materials on his search as well.
Quill heads away from the rabbit habitat into the unknown while marking the trees with his sharp rock so he won¡¯t get lost. As he walks along Quill noticed quite a few bushes had berries on them which he assumed that''s where the rabbits got the berries they offered him before. The further Quill walks away the more different creatures he finds and not all creatures looked the same as real creatures. There were creatures such as a monkey with 3 tails and what looked like a pigeon made up of what seems to be plants. Not all creatures were bizarre though, there were normal monkeys and pigeons as well but the mix of creatures makes it hard to tell the type of climate this place is in. With the rabbits one would think that this forest is in the northern hemisphere but the addition of monkeys makes it hard to believe.
¡¯This is a game after all it¡¯s not hard to think that a climate system wasn¡¯t implemented or a completely new system was created for this world. There¡¯s no point of thinking about all this now¡¯
After walking for a bit longer Quill started to notice there was a lot more rocks on the ground compared to other parts he has been to so decided to follow them. The amount of rocks kept multiplying until he actually broke out of the forest to find himself on a beach. But the beach wasn¡¯t a beach made of sand, it was a beach made of pebbles
¡°great, I find water and it¡¯s seawater. I find a beach and it¡¯s a shingle beach, trust my luck¡±
Quill has hated shingle beaches ever since he was taken to a shingle beach for vacation as a kid and his sisters wanted to play on a sand beach so decided to bury him in the ¡®sand¡¯ and forgot about him. At the time his parents were studying rock formations in a nearby cave so there was no one to stop his sisters. Quill was buried for two hours before his parents finally finished studying the rock formations and dug him out. There were cuts all over his body from his neck down but luckily there were no scars left from this incident. His sisters got grounded for 3 months after that.
Quill gave a bit of a disgusted look at the shingle beach before turning around and headed back into the forest. There is most like a river leading into the sea so Quill kept his close to the beach and made sure not to go past the rabbit habitat.
After two hours of searching the breathing skill leveled up once and he finally found a river. Seeing the river Quill immediately rushed towards it with enough enthusiasm that he almost collapsed at the riverbed. Seeing actual drinking water reminded him of how thirsty he was. When he saw the sea his trauma with shingle beaches protected his mind and body from ravaging at the seawater but now clean water is in front of him, he simply lost control and dunked his head into the river to drink from it. Quill drank water, not breathing for 10 full seconds before finally releasing his head from the river.

After coming back to his senses he picked a nearby large leaf to dry his head and thought about his next course of action
¡¯that¡¯s water sorted but first I should check how far this river is from the Habitat. I don¡¯t want to make a two hour journey for a five minute trip¡¯
Quill knows he hasn¡¯t gone past the rabbit habitat and he walked roughly in a straight line to get to the shingle beach so following the river upstream will take him in the general direction of the rabbit habitat. With this logic Quill decided to follow the river upstream but not before marking this place as the starting point of his upstream journey watching the forest for signs of the rabbit habitat while plucking berries from bushes to snack on along the way.
Soon enough Quill gets to a point where he notices one of his markings on a tree. He goes up to the tree to see how far this tree is to find out he is actually very close to the rabbit habitat and by looking at the river if he goes to the rabbit habitat and turn left into the forest again then he would probably reach the river in 5-7 minutes.
¡¯I spent so long to find something so close, I don¡¯t know whether I¡¯m lucky or unlucky. Now I know where the water is I guess i¡¯ll pick up material on the way back¡¯
Quill makes his way back to the rabbit habitat picking up branches, sticks, stones, leaves and a small log. If you¡¯re wonder how he is carrying all this, he is using his leaf ¡®clothes¡¯ as a pouch, it may not be comfy or hygienic but it does the job strangely enough.
After reaching the habitat Quill dumped all his good on the floor with a sigh of relief.
¡°aah, this feels good, that was way too itchy, I need to make a bag or something¡±
Quill sits down to examine his materials and tries to think of things he can make with these things.
''hmm, lets see here, the branches can be fashioned into javelins giving me a range attack but leaves me vulnerable in melee¡ well more vulnerable. maybe if I attach sharp rocks to them for more of a spear weapon but then i¡¯ll need to find a way to attach them¡ what if I tie them together? but I haven¡¯t really got anything to tie them with unless I want to use the stalk of plant...well may as well try it. Lets see what else I can make, it¡¯s a long shot and would take a while but maybe I could carve the log it into a small shield¡ but thats a waste of a lot of wood. I could strip the bark first and then try to make something with it¡ wait, isn¡¯t bark used to make rope? if it is then I could use the it to make the spear. that¡¯s that done but what about the sticks and leaves? can¡¯t really think of anything at the moment so I¡¯ll just use them as tinder. So javelins first and maybe some wooden spears just in case the rope fails then strip the bark, wait, shouldn¡¯t I strip the bark off the branches first? they are gonna be shaved off anyways so that''s first and after wood spears is pointed rocks then rope creation and finally the shield. got it''
Quill started to strip the bark off the branches. It was actually quite an easy thing to do, just grab the edge where the branch disconnected from the tree and pull. Sometimes the line of bark would corner off into a seemingly useless piece while over times it would go all the way to the end of the branch. While stripping Quill was separating the product into piles of branch, bark, failures and stripped wood. After a few branches a message popped up.
you have learnt the peeling skill
¡°seriously¡ this is a skill? at least it¡¯s more active than the breathing skill. who knows? maybe i¡¯ll be able to peel a wolf to death. hah¡±
''seriously though, would this skill let me peel anything at max level? imagine being able to peel a layer of steel with your bare hands¡ would not actually look impressive but maybe it has crafting uses. But that¡¯s far into the future anyway''
Quill quickly resumes his work after contemplating his skills as usual and by the time he finishes stripping or rather peeling the bark the peeling skill leveled twice though there isn¡¯t much difference in performance between the levels in fact there¡¯s wasn¡¯t any at all.
¡°well, this skill is shit¡±
¡¯now that I think of it, the breathing skill only made me able to take slightly longer breathes, does that mean there''s a lot of levels so skills only really make a difference at extremely high levels? its easier for skills like breathing that level up simply by living but other skills like stab and carving would take ages to level up? how much time were they expecting people to spend in this game? probably a lot with the capsule features. well, that''s enough of that, onto the javelins''
Quill went to the stripped wood pile and separated them into two piles, one of 90cm to 120cm size wood to be made into javelins and one of 150cm to 270cm size wood to be made into spears. Even though there was only six in one pile and five in the other pile he still felt the need to separate them. The reason for so few is simply that''s all he could carry, log under one arm, just over a dozen branches under the other and pants full of stones, sticks and leaves, it¡¯s a surprise he made it to the habitat.
Quill grabbed his trusty sharp rock and a piece of wood from the javelin pile and started carving away. inspecting his work whenever a piece of wood came off the branch and meticulously looking for imperfection after completion making sure it was perfect and no mistakes were made, though there were some of course. Quill is no master carver with his busy lifestyle.
After making his fourth javelin as one would expect to happen sooner or later a message popped up
you have learnt the weapon appraisal skill
¡°wait, what? I learned how to appraise a weapon from carving? how does that work?¡±
¡¯maybe it¡¯s because I¡¯m carving weapons so I¡¯m getting accustomed to how weapons should be? this game is so confusing, so I can appraise weapons now right? so it will show me information about the weapon such as damage and attack speed right? that''s actually a really useful skill! I¡¯ll be able to choose my best work without simple guesswork. so how does this skill work? hopefully it¡¯s voice command unlike the menu¡ that god damn menu...right, focus, here goes¡¯
Quill hold up his javelin stares at it almost as intensely as he was while making it and mutters the words
¡°weapon appraisal¡±
Quill¡¯s face has an expression of a mixture between shock, laughter and disappointment.
¡°why...just why? I bet my mom and dad are laughing their heads off right now. I fell right into their trap¡±
Quill was really pissed this time, all that hard work for a skill that just tells him what he already knows. It would be hard to find someone who could stay calm in this situation and that someone definitively is not quill
¡°no, wait, calm down me, deep breaths, only finally found a voice command that works only for it to be completely worthless and tell me things I already know¡±
Quill starts taking deep breaths and once again loses awareness of everything around him except for his breath.
Once Quill open his eyes again he truly feels refreshed and notices a familiar message box
''forgot to close the message''
right after closing the message box another one instantly pops up
the skill Breathing has leveled up
the skill Breathing has ranked up
chapter 5 - its twins
Two girls sit in their living room with a lot of mess around them. empty packet and wrappers from snacks, pieces of board games and a microphone and dance mat from a singing dance game littered the floor. The girls themselves were petite, had long brunette hair, and a round face. They looked a lot like each other that people would think they are twins. in fact, they are. Though not everything was completely identical. They had the same height, the same face and the same hair colour but the one thing to differentiate was something many people would probably notice before they were twins. It was their breast size. One had an extremely large rack that it was difficult to understand how she could even stand up straight while the other was the complete opposite, almost non existent. Though the two were envious of each others breast size and often complained to each other about it, there was no dent in their relationship about it. In fact it made them closer.
¡°ahh, im hungry~¡±
¡°after all you ate, how are your tits so small?¡±
¡°what was that Addah? couldn¡¯t hear you over those big boobs of yours¡±
¡°hmm, I have no comeback, you win this time Zillah¡±
Addah sighed at the loss of their little game. They would often insult each other and see who could get the last insult. Sometimes they would last an hour while sometimes they would be as short as this.
¡°nice, I¡¯m in the lead now¡±
¡°we¡¯re drawing, I won the last time¡±
Zillah starts pondering for a moment before speaking again
¡°I¡¯m pretty sure I won, I was half way through the insult before Eden called us for food¡±
With an expression like she just remembered something Addah exclaimed
¡°mentioning that, where the hell is Eden? He should have been done with food ages ago?"
These twins are the sisters of Eden. The ones taking away his peace within his own home. Even if the don¡¯t know it.
¡°lets find out¡±
the twins get up from that messy floor and begin their search for Eden. They first checked the kitchen only to find it empty with no signs of food being prepared. Addah quickly went to search the rest of the house while Zillah just stood there stunned for a few few seconds. She was distraught over the fact that food wasn¡¯t coming anytime soon. After catching up to Addah they checked Edens room. Addah simply strolled in without knocking with Zillah following behind. What they saw confused them. A capsule was lying on the floor, a capsule just like the one they were in a few hours ago. They walked over to the capsule and saw a green light on the side of it. This means one thing, someone was inside the capsule and the only person who would be in there is Eden. After confirming this their confusion set in more than before. Their brother, their serious brother that never slacked off, always did the house chores and only touched video games when they wanted an easy opponent in fighting games. That brother right now forgot about dinner and immersed himself in a game for the first time.

Addah started banging on the lid of the capsule with an quite annoyed tone saying
¡°hey, eden get out and cook food¡±
an eerily silence came from the sci-fi coffin-looking capsule. It was truly like the capsule was for the dead. breaking the silence Zillah thought out loud
¡°I think it¡¯s on non-interrupt mode¡±
¡°really? how can you tell?¡±
¡°next to the green light there¡¯s an orange light right? that means non-interrupt mode is on¡±
¡°the cheeky little-¡±
¡°calm down, it¡¯s the first time he actually shown interest in something without someone telling him to do it so let¡¯s let him be¡±
¡°what about food¡±
¡°GET THE HELL UP NOW EDEN!!!¡±
Zillah started banging the capsule really hard, so hard Addah started to worry whether the capsule was gonna hold. Addah grabbed her and held her back yelling
¡°calm down! We¡¯ll cook our own food!¡±
Zillah started to calm down and was let go by Addah but turned to face Addah with an extremely serious face and calmly said
¡°But we can¡¯t cook¡±
¡°ah¡±
¡°there¡¯s only one option and thats to get Eden out of the game¡±
Addah couldn¡¯t help but wonder how they were going to get Eden out. From the sounds of it Zilla has a plan to get him out so she couldn¡¯t help but ask
¡°How are we gonna get him out?¡±
¡°simple, we go into the game, find him, beat the shit out of him and then get him to log out¡±
Addah couldn¡¯t help but sigh when she heard this plan. How were they gonna find Eden when they couldn¡¯t even find each other. But it was the only option other than wait for Eden to come out and she know Zilla definitely doesn¡¯t have the patience to wait that long for food.
¡°why do I always go along with your plans?¡±
Thus begins the journey of two girls sharing a single goal.
chapter 6 - skills, crafting and practicing
the skill Breathing has ranked up
¡°wait, ranked up?¡±
¡¯so skills have levels and ranks? since I¡¯ve had so many levels ups and only one rank up then it¡¯s more likely a skill ranks up after so many level ups but what does a rank up mean? level ups hardly made any noticeable difference and thats after a lot of level ups so maybe the rank up is where the main improvement is¡¯
Quill closed the notification and took the longest breath in to notice any difference in his breathing ability. The breath in was three seconds longer than normal, it wasn¡¯t much but compared to before where he wasn¡¯t sure whether there was an actual improvement or just in his mind, this is a big improvement.
¡°yes! Time to level some skills¡±
Quill happy knowing his skills actually does something decided to get back to work crafting the remaining two stripped wood in the javelin pile.
By the time he crafted the last javelin his crafting skill has only leveled up once. Knowing this Quill could help but wonder
¡®why is carving leveling up so much slower compared to breathing? do certain skills grow faster than others? or is my technique for calming down causing breathing to increase so much? even so, I can¡¯t really think of a useful way to use this skill, but its better to have it than not to right?¡¯
After contemplating the nature of his skills Quill uses weapon appraisal on all his javelin only to get the same message box telling him it¡¯s a wooden javelin. Compared to last time Quil was not filled with anger and frustration but only a little disappointment. He wasn¡¯t appraising his weapons expecting something new but to try and level his skill, though he would be lying if he wasn¡¯t at least hoping for something different.
¡°well, onto the spears¡±
Quill put all the javelins into a pile and went towards the pile of five long peeled wood and started to carve them into spears with his sharp rock. This was quite simple as spears were just larger javelins. He also made sure to appraise his work after every creation. It only said ¡®A wooden spear¡¯ but he hoped that onced ranked up it would actually tell him useful information. Around the third spear his weapon appraisal leveled up once but didn¡¯t show any extra information. He had slight hope but knows his best bet is to check after it has ranked up. When he finally finished the last spear his carving leveled up again making it the second time it has leveled up since he got it.
¡¯right, it leveled up twice, gotta keep track to find out how many levels it takes to rank up. Only if I counted my breathing levels, haa''
Quill couldn¡¯t help but sigh at the missed opportunity to learn more about how the skill system works but soon got over it and delved straight into making rope with the bark.
Quill was made to learn how to make rope by his father as a child. His fathers logic was ¡®you never know when what you learned will come in handy so learn as as many skills as possible¡¯. Of course his sisters were made to learn as well and quickly picked it up but after they got their fathers approval they never made rope again saying it¡¯s boring and will never come useful in life. They probably have even forgotten to do it by now. The same would be for Eden if he wasn¡¯t so slow to learn it
thinking back on his sister saying that, he couldn¡¯t help but laugh. He was actually in a situation where it came in handy. He would have loved to see the look on his sister faces if they were in this situation and couldn¡¯t remember how to make it. Little did he know that they most likely are.
¡¯if I remember right you have to peel the bark again so you only have the inside of the bark, I think?¡¯
Though Quill has been taught how to make rope, he was not taught how to make it from bark. That was just something he heard from his fathers stories of when he survived in the rainforest jungle after getting separated from the research group.
Quill started to peel the outside of the bark. This was a bit more difficult than before as he has to make the amount he peels much thinner. by the time he finished a few hours have already gone and his peeling skill has leveled up twice.
¡¯didn¡¯t peeling level up twice before as well? maybe it will be easier to count the levels of peeling before the rank up with the rate it¡¯s increasing. so right now it has leveled 4 times? I¡¯ll try to keep track of both just in case¡¯

Quill grabbed two pieces of peeled bark and held the edge of both pieces between his thumb and finger. He twisted the closest one away from him with his other hand making it tight then while holding the twisted piece of bark, he used his free fingers to grab the other piece and pulled it over and towards him. That piece was then twisted while the other previously twisted piece was pulled over and towards him. This process was repeated until the two pieces of peeled bark turned into one thin piece of rope. Once this was completed a message appeared
you have learnt the RopeMaking skill
¡°nice, another skill, though it is more specific than my other skills¡±
Quill thought for a bit before closing the notification and continues turn all the peeled bark into rope. The rope making skill leveled up 3 times during this process making Quill happy and confused at the time about skill level up speed but decided thinking about it won¡¯t change anything.
Quill relaxed and looked at the sun to tell the time to realise its late midday, probably around 6-7 o''clock.
¡¯time sure goes fast, I should start a fire before it gets too late¡¯
Thinking this, Quill picks up some leaves and twigs and takes to the previous fireplace and attempts to start a fire. It took him a while but he did manage to start the fire with a familiar sound of a message
the skill FireMaking has leveled up
¡°fire making? Did I have this skill?¡±
Quill pondered over the appearance of a skill he couldn¡¯t remember before coming to the conclusion he must have learned it when he made fire the first time which reminds him of another thing he forgot. The reason why he forgot, food or more specifically the meat of the wolf.
¡°ah, the wolves¡±
Quill quickly got up and went to the corpses of the wolves and notice flies flying around the corpses. The one he skinned and ate from seem to have more meat missing making him assume an animal must have taken a meal from it while the other corpses seemed to be a bit bloated.
¡¯they¡¯re bloated? could it be decomposing? lets find out
Quill decided to leave the corpses there to test if decomposition is a thing in this game and picked up the pelt of the wolf he skinned. after being exposed to sunlight for a whole day it seems to be less¡ bloody.
¡¯I think I might be able to do something with this now, maybe warmer and less revealing clothes¡¯
Quill stared intensely at the pelt for a while before coming a conclusion
¡¯how? all I can think of is wearing it like a cape¡ well, I can wear it like that till I come up with a good idea
Quill tied the paws over his neck like a cape and went back to the fire to see the rabbits offering him food again. This time accepting the food. It may not be meat but he enjoyed it nonetheless.
After having a meal with the rabbits he reviews the work he¡¯s done so far.
¡°let¡¯s see here, um, six javelins, 5 spears and a lot of rope. The stones still need to be carved before making stone spears and that¡¯s it.¡±
¡¯there¡¯s not much time till it gets dark, maybe I should practice using the spears and javelins for now
Quill picks up a javelin, aims at a tree and throws it. The javelin flies through the air before hitting the tree and bouncing off.
¡°ok¡ I suck¡±
after a few throws the throwing skill was gained and after a few more throws the javelin actually pierced the tree.
¡°finally!¡±
Quill excitedly yelled while retrieving the javelin. He continued to practice with the javelins until the sun went down. By the time he stopped the throwing skill leveled up 5 times and the javelin pierced the tree more often.
He sat down by the fire happy with his improvement but confused at the same time.
¡¯Why did my throwing improve when the skill hasn¡¯t ranked up yet? are certain skills different than others or am I just imagining it?
After contemplating this for a while and thinking how they day went he decided to go to sleep using the wolf pelt cape thing as a quilt and delved into his dreams.
chapter 7 - A rabbits life
Waking up in the morning Quill look at his surroundings to yet again see his fire gone out and the rabbits hopping about.
¡°What are they even doing?¡±
Quill realises that even after spending a few days with the rabbits he still knows nothing about them. Quill just simply sat there watching what the rabbits are doing for the first time. He noticed some were eating grass, some were digging holes which he assumed were rabbits holes and where they go at night while some of the smaller rabbits were hopping around with each other.
¡®so other than eating and playing they dig their homes¡¯
Quill then turned his attention to a group of young rabbits hopping around a tree close to him. The rabbits one by one started to climb the tree. They managed to get to get to quite a high branch. as the climbing was so fast Quill isn¡¯t really sure how they climbed it though he definitely was impressed. The last rabbit is about to climb the tree but as as what it looked to Quill the rabbit quickly moved up the tree only to end at the base.
¡¯ah, it failed¡¯
On closer look Quill notice this rabbit was a bitter smaller than other rabbits but not only that, while other rabbits were pure white, this one had a slight hint of purple in its fur. The rabbit tried again and again to climb this tree but only to end with the same result every time. Quill couldn¡¯t help but feel sorry for the rabbit. Thinking this Quill stood up to help the rabbit but before he could the rabbit walked, well, hopped away from the tree.
¡¯it gave up?¡¯
Seeing the rabbit give up, quill couldn¡¯t help but feel a bit disappointed in the end. There was something about seeing someone lose hope and giving up he didn¡¯t like for some reason. Well, it¡¯s normal thing to dislike but he still disliked it. Quill decided to try and cheer the rabbit up, maybe play with it for a while or something. As he was thinking this he saw something that shocked him.
The rabbit stopped in it¡¯s tracks, turned around and sprinted towards the tree. The rabbit saw nothing else but the tree, was it going to ram it from irritation? no, it was going to climb it. With as much power in it¡¯s legs possible the rabbit pushes itself off the ground aiming for the goal in sight. Grabbing onto the tree and pushing itself higher with each jump. One jump after another it got closer to the other rabbits, one more jump until it reaches it¡¯s goal. Power goes into the rabbits legs for one last final jump. Pushing towards to the tree the rabbit soars in the air reaching the branch, or that is what should¡¯ve happened. The rabbit¡¯s foot slips on the bark causing it to tumble down towards the ground.

¡°oh shit!¡±
Quill seeing the rabbit falling towards the ground, he runs towards it to catch it but doesn¡¯t make it in time. The rabbit hits the ground with a crunch. Quill quickly checks to see if the rabbits is still alive and is sighs in relief when he sees the small rabbits chest moving up and down. Quill went to pick up the rabbit but before he could do so something shocked him even more than before.
The rabbit got up and started hopping towards the tree. It was clearly in pain having one of it¡¯s legs broken but it still didn¡¯t give up. It was determined to climb this tree. For too long was it left out of the group, for too long was it too weak to do what the other rabbits could do. Reaching the base of the tree it channeled all it¡¯s power into it¡¯s body into it¡¯s legs and jumped with all it¡¯s might. Pain spread through it¡¯s leg, as it jumped but it didn¡¯t care, it had to prove it could do this. Grabbing onto the tree it prepared itself for another jump. Putting yet again all power into it¡¯s legs it jumped. the pain was unbearable but it still jumped. Third jump, fourth jump even the fifth jump it put up with this unbearable pain of jumping with a broken leg. Sixth jump, it jumped with as much strength left but sadly it wasn¡¯t enough. The rabbit yet again tumbled towards the floor. Only this time it didn¡¯t hit it. instead of the cold hard ground it was enveloped by a soft warmth. The rabbit was confused. It failed yet again so why didn¡¯t it hit ground? why wasn¡¯t it welcomed with more pain and possibly another broken bone?
¡°ahhh, that was a close one¡±
The rabbit looked up towards the voice. What it saw was unexpected. A big creature with brown fur only on it¡¯s head. The rabbit as seen this creature before. It¡¯s the same creature that fought off the wolves, the same creature that almost died while doing it, the same creature thats been living here the last few days. It was Quill.
chapter 8 - weapons and unlockables
Quill looked down at the small rabbit in his arms while carrying it over to his usual area. After looking at the rabbit he came to the conclusion that besides the broken leg and a bit of bruising there doesn¡¯t seem to be a problem.
After fixing the broken leg into place Quill used a thick twig a leaf to keep it in place. Afterwards he got some of those plants the rabbits used on him before. Without the proper equipment he decided to do the same thing the rabbits did. Quill put some of the plants in his mouth and chewed until it became no solids was left. After applying the green goop to the rabbit two messages popped up.
because of your treatment the rabbit¡¯s natural healing has increased by 2%
you have learnt the treatment skill
¡°another skill, nice¡±
¡¯wait a minute? only 2%? When it was used on me it was 200% Why is that? did I do something wrong? or do the rabbits have a high ranked treatment skill? if so the how high is that skill?
Quill thought for a while until something broke him out of his inner monologue to himself. It was the rabbit or more correctly, the disappearance of the rabbit. Looking around in a panic he finally saw the rabbit. Though he was somewhat relieved he couldn¡¯t but still be worried by what he saw. The rabbit with all its might is slowly hopping towards the tree. I still hasn¡¯t given up. It still wants to climb that tree.
Quill quickly ran up to the rabbit and picked it up. The rabbit started struggling in his hands but Quill kept his grip tight while saying softly
¡°I know you want to climb it but at least wait till you¡¯re healed¡±
As if the rabbit understood his words it stopped struggling and let Quill has his way with it. Though Quill hates to see people give up he still understands that the bodies condition is important in not giving up and thus decided to keep the rabbit from climbing until it heals.
Quill yet again carried the rabbit over to his area and set it down. This time though instead of treating it since that is already done, he decided to get on with what he was planning on doing today.
Picking up the stones he decided to carve them into spearheads while looking over to the rabbit every now and then to make sure it¡¯s alright. There were a few failures but most came out as usable. An odd thing is that when quill identified it with weapon appraisal said it was a sharp rock instead of a spearhead. Quill contemplated it for a bit until deciding to forget about it for the moment. Throughout this process the carving skill leveled up twice and so did weapon appraisal.
¡¯carving seems to level up faster than before, maybe it¡¯s the fact I¡¯m carving stone and not wood?
After contemplating this Quill went on to making a stone spear. He picked up one of the stone and went to pick up a stick but suddenly stopped, as if frozen he stays like that before muttering.
¡°...balls...I screwed up¡±
He has realised his mistake. He turned all the branches he collected into wooden javelins and wooden spears. Upon making this realisation he couldn¡¯t help that the system was making fun of him when it never said he made a spearhead.
¡°what do I do now?¡±
¡¯should I get more branches? no, that would take too long and I need to make sure the rabbit doesn¡¯t go climbing trees and killing itself, would just a wooden spear be enough? it¡¯s natural for stone to be better than wood but this is a game, they wouldn¡¯t just toss you into the middle of nowhere with no way of survival. Maybe I can gain a spear skill if I use a spear so at least a wooden spear won¡¯t be that bad. I don¡¯t know, I need to clear my mind a bit.¡¯
Quill glances over to the rabbit to see if it¡¯s still there and is glad to see it there. He goes over to it and starts petting it for a bit hoping to clear his mind and come up with a solution
¡¯besides, what am I gonna do when I make the spear anyway? go hunting wolves? I have no reason to leave this place really. Except for those wolves on the first day, there hasn¡¯t been any problems at all. Well, not counting this little one. Though I do kinda want to go to a town or something, get a nice soft bed, eat some nice cooked food, that would be nice
Quill starts to daydream about life in a town until something hits him in the nose. Being brought back to reality he looks towards the reason, the rabbit. The rabbit glances about before looking back at him.
¡¯there¡¯s something around us?
Quill looks around to see what around them has changed and something has. All the rabbits are gone. the only one left is now in Quill¡¯s lap.
¡¯the rabbits are gone? this can only mean something bad
Quill flings the rabbit off his lap as he stood up and as quickly as he can, grabs a javelin and scans the area. He felt a bit bad for flinging the rabbit but it¡¯s much better than dying. From the trees he sees an appearance he hasn¡¯t seen for a few days. It had sharp teeth, gray-silver fur and a hungry look in its eyes. It was a wolf.
The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
¡¯as soon as I say no problems¡¯
The wolf slowly walks towards Quill like he¡¯s not even a threat. Why should it be? A wolf shouldn¡¯t be afraid of a creature that socialise with their prey. If anything, it makes that creature prey itself. That is until it smelled something that foul. Something that shouldn''t be in this kind of place. The wolf glanced towards the smell and got horrified. It was a corpse. To be exact, it was three corpses, one was in a sorry state with none of it¡¯s fur left. The wolf was confused, how are there wolf corpses here? was it the rabbit? no, they are the prey. There¡¯s no way prey can kill a mighty wolf. Then there was only one conclusion. It was this strange creature.
Quill notices the wolf stops and becomes more weary of him for some reason. They stare at each other for a while as if waiting for the other to make a move. The first move was by Quill, after making slight adjustments to his aim releases the javelin. The javelin flies through the air straight towards the wolf. The wolf seeing this, jumps out of the way and charges at Quill.
Quill quickly bends down to grab a spear. As he does, the wolf is right in front of him in mid lunge. Out of panic, he closes his eyes and stabs forth with the spear. After hearing a moan leak out from the wolf, Quill opens his eyes. The chest, he actually managed to pierce the chest. The wolf is now dangling in the air with the only thing keeping it up is the spear. Quill keep hold of the spear in one hand and grabs javelin in hopes to attack the head but he made one miscalculation. His strength, he couldn¡¯t hold up the wolf with one hand and the wolf fell towards the ground pushing the spear further into it¡¯s chest. It¡¯s amazing the wolf is still standing but its unable to move. With the javelin in hand Quill attacks the side of head, stabbing the javelin straight into the ear killing the wolf.
Collapsing to the floor Quill breathes heavily as the adrenaline starts to fade. After recovering Quill couldn¡¯t help but be happy. He managed to kill a wolf without getting a single scratch. Though it was a close call, it was still something he hasn¡¯t done till now. Two windows popped up saying notifications has been enabled again and he has increased familiarity with rabbits.
After closing the windows Quill got up and checked on the rabbit. The rabbit seems to be alright. Well, not including it¡¯s broken leg but the same as before. Quill now realises that things can¡¯t always be peaceful around here.
¡¯the wolves will probably keep coming, there¡¯s been four already so there¡¯s bound to be more, I need to be ready¡¯
Quill grabs a spear and starts stabbing the air while including a few blows with the end of the spear
¡¯the main reason I won was because of the spear, I should at least learn how to use it¡¯
After a few hours of doing this, with breaks of course, a message popped up
you have learnt the bash skill
you have gained the adventurer class
the adventurer class is now equipped
A class? there are classes as well? but it¡¯s equipped? I¡¯ll find out later, more practice for now, I need to level up that bash skill and get stronger¡¯
But after a few more hours only stab leveled up once. Confused over how slow they are leveling up, Quill decided to work on something else that bothered him.
¡¯After I threw the javelin I was vulnerable when picking up a spear, I need to solve that
Quill looked at all his supplies and came up with an idea. He first skinned the newest addition to his collection of dead wolves, of course, not making the same mistakes as last time. In the process he learned the skinning skill. He was intrigued with skill but decided to leave it for now. The problem still needs to be solved. He cut a piece off the pelt and pierced holes around the edges of it. Then grabbing a thin yet long rope, he threaded it through the holes. He pulled the ends of the edges of the pelt went towards each other making the gap between them smaller.
¡°yep, it works¡±
What he was making is a bag for the javelins to go in. After putting a few javelins in, he tightened the opening, put one end of rope over his shoulder while the other one under and tied the ends together.

chapter 9 - things change
¡°nice! inventory! that means I can- wait, menu? the one I can¡¯t access? that menu? god dammit! every single god damn time! you stupid god damn game!¡±
Quill started to stamp at the floor in anger before squatting down and covering his face with his hands
¡°why do this game? why?¡±
After staying in that pose for a good two seconds quill sat on the floor and tried to calm himself down the only way he knows how. The breath. He started to focus on his breath yet once again, closing his senses off to everything except his breath.
Once Quill exited the world of the breath found something familiar. A notification.
the skill breathing has leveled up x9
the skill breathing has ranked up
the skill breathing has leveled up x4
¡°holy¡ thats a lot¡±
¡¯so breathing has ranked up again, no, wait, before that, it leveled up nine times before ranking up so the levels to rank up must be nine. Though that¡¯s assuming every skill is the same with the number of levels to rank up and other skills even rank up. I should stop here and get back to training, it¡¯s good breathing ranked up but it¡¯s not very useful in combat¡¯
Quill closes the notifications and goes to train but notices something odd. His shadow is quite elongated. Seeing this Quill looks up towards the sun to find out the sun is in a strange position. It hasn¡¯t wasn¡¯t in the center of the sky like he expected but looks like it hasn¡¯t long rised.
¡¯morning? no wonder breathing ranked up, I must have been calming down for a long time, but how much time has been lost? was it a day? or two days? I¡¯m getting distracted again, i should train¡¯
For the next week Quill did nothing but eat, sleep and train. of course, not including the moments when his mind would wander. His stab and bash skills has ranked up and his throwing skill managed to rank up twice. This helped him confirm that nine level ups per rank was universal to all skills. His throwing skill has really shocked him. Before the javelin would barely stick into the tree but now it takes quite a bit of strength to pull the thing out!
The injured rabbit leg healed halfway through the week but instead of instantly going off to climb the tree it spent a while watching quill before attempting to climb. This time the rabbit wasn¡¯t risking everything to climb the tree and instead stopping when it was feeling tired before trying again. It was probably trying to copy quill¡¯s training.
During the breaks between training Quill did find another branch so he could make a stone spear. He managed to come up with an idea of cutting into the branch so that the branch can clamp down on the sharp rock from both sides then using the rope to secure the sharp rock in the branch. Quill was ecstatic over his new weapon but couldn¡¯t help but feel a bit disappointed when his weapon appraisal only said it was a stone spear.
Currently Quill is at the river having a drink thinking about his skills, his improvements and where to improve. Though his skills were leveling up, his fighting style still really looked like a kid swinging a stick. While thinking a message popped up
the skill breathing has leveled up
¡¯wow, that took a long time to level up, why did it slow down so much? maybe- no, i¡¯m getting distracted again¡¯
After finishing his inner monologue he picked up his spear and headed back towards the rabbit habitat. On the way back he felt like something wasn¡¯t right. It was like he was being watched. He has been getting this feeling for a few days now but always turned out to be nothing. Quill stopped right in his tracks, takes out a javelin and scanned the area looking for any signs of movement.

To the right a bush shakes. As soon as the bush shakes Quill throws his javelin into the bush hoping to hit whatever is there.
yelp!
A short animal cry rings from the bush. The bush stops shaking and a window appears in front of Quill.
Notifications have been re-enabled as combat has ended
¡°that ended quickly¡¡±
Quill went into the bush to see what he killed. There was a dead wolf on the ground with a javelin through the eye.
¡°well, that was a good shot¡±
Quill could be helped but be impressed with himself as he pulled out the javelin and skinned the wolf. Taking the pelt with pride he headed towards the rabbit habitat. But then he had a thought
¡¯why was that wolf watching me? was it watching me this whole time? last time they just show up and attack. Maybe after killing a few of them they got weary? wolves aren¡¯t that smart so there¡¯s no way they would set up smart tacti- no, I¡¯m getting distracted again, gotta train
When Quill got to the rabbit habitat he realised something. There was a reason for the wolf to watch him. there was a reason why it didn¡¯t attack.
Quill¡¯s eyes widen as he collapses to his knees.
¡°red, everything¡¯s red¡±
The entire habitat was red. Blood stained the grass and even the trunks of the trees yet there wasn¡¯t a single corpse in sight. Not even a single bone in sight. The smell of iron flowing through the air attacked his nose.
¡¯why? are all the rabbits dead? every one of them? even that small one? no, it can¡¯t be. They are just hiding like they do at night right? they do that all the time, they¡¯ll show up eventually. After all, I am their guardian
You have lost the ¡®rabbit guardian¡¯ title
¡°ah, I-aaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh¡±
Quill screamed out, screamed out with all his might. Screaming towards the heavens. Even though he was only with the rabbits a short time, they fed him, healed him and cared for him. It may have not seemed like much but it was a lot for him. Even though the rabbit weren''t real, only bits of data. For Quill who now lives here, they were very real, very alive. But now, now they gone, dead. Never again will Quill see them hopping around, never again will he see them climbing trees and never again will he eat a meal with them.
¡°ha, ha, why did this have to happen? to them of all people, who? That right, it¡¯s them, they did this, the wolves. It¡¯s their fault, it¡¯s all their fault. I¡¯ll kill them, i¡¯ll kill them all! hahahahahahahaha¡±
Quill kept laughing as tears fell down his face. all the pain was converted fully to anger, to the wolves.
Quill stayed in that position for a while. His body started to feel heavy, like his whole body has been shackled as he started drowning in the anger, collecting it, refining it into a weapon. A weapon only for his one enemy, the wolves.
After two minutes of this a pressure suddenly hit Quill. It was a soft pressure located towards his lap. Quill looked down sharply at the thing causing this pressure.
¡°eh?¡±
It was a rabbit. A single small white furred rabbit with a hint of purple.
¡°you survived?¡±
Tears yet again started to flow. Only this time they were tears of happiness.
¡°thank god, thank god, you¡¯re alive¡±
Quill hugged the rabbit as he cried. One only survived but just that was enough for Quill. His shoulder started to lighten if only a bit.
chapter 10 - a single rabbit
Quill wiped the salty tears from his eyes and warmly gazed at the small rabbit on his lap. After a while of calming his emotions he couldn¡¯t help but have one question on his mind.
¡¯how did this rabbit survive while all the others¡ I don¡¯t even want to think about it¡ but...¡¯
While Quill was having his internal dilemma over a certain question, the rabbit hopped off his lap and moved away from Quill before looking back towards him.
¡¯but it would probably be better to find out¡ hm? the rabbit, does it want me to follow?¡¯
Noticing the rabbit, Quill gets up and moves towards the rabbit. The rabbit proceeds to move forwards before stopping, looking back at Quill again then charges forwards at an extremely fast speed. The target of this charge? A tree, the same tree it has failed to climb before. As the rabbit reaches the tree it jumps. The rabbit reaches a tremendous height, almost doubling the height it could jump before. Grabbing onto the tree with its front legs, the hind legs contract, gather power before releasing tremendous power into the tree. Shooting the rabbit upwards towards the sky. Yet again grabbing onto the tree, the rabbit jumped. The rabbit stretched its front legs forwards as it grasped onto its goal. The branch. The very same branch it couldn¡¯t reach before. The rabbit pulled itself up onto the branch and with a triumphantly looked towards Quill as if to say ¡°look, I can do it!¡±.
Quill just stood there dumbfounded over what just happened. Why did the rabbit climb the tree? With that thought he finally remembered. The rabbit tried to climb this tree before but failed and even injured itself in the process. But now, it can finally do it.
¡°wow, you actually done it! good job!¡±
Quill couldn¡¯t help but be happy for the rabbit who finally realised his goal. With that Quill couldn¡¯t help but think.
¡¯maybe, just maybe, when the wolves attacked this rabbit was climbing this tree so the wolves didn¡¯t notice it¡¯
Quill couldn¡¯t see any other way that only this one rabbit would survive while all the others fell to the wolves. it was the only logical explanation he could think of.
With the compliments from Quill, the rabbit quickly climbed back down from the tree and stood in front of him. Now that the rabbit has lost its family, the only one left for this young rabbit to rely on is Quill.
Quill looked down towards the rabbit, got down on one knee and said
¡°from now on, it seems it¡¯s you and me, how about we go kill some wolves?¡±
The rabbit stared intensely at Quill before nodding.

¡¯hmm, what should I name it, it¡¯s a her right? so I shouldn¡¯t name her anything manly, hmm, I¡¯m bad at names¡ what was the race called? Yukisagi rabbit? maybe I should just name her Yuki? that''s a girly name right? I think, well it may be lazy but no one would know¡ gotta stop reminding myself of that¡ remember, name, important¡ I can¡¯t think of any name other than Yuki now! I guess i¡¯ll have to with that, it¡¯s not a bad name after all¡¯
¡°Yuki¡±

¡¯two skills and a new class! thats amazing, all for taming one animal! wait a minute, if I got a new class then what happened to my old one? did it overwrite it or no? If not then I¡¯ve become some sort of adventurer beast tamer? and the two skills, taming is straightforward as taming but mammal mastery is a bit odd, it¡¯s a skill that increases my mastery of mammals? so my ability to use mammals? one would think that would come under taming but maybe taming strictly only affects the process of taming itself? and since it¡¯s mammal mastery and not animal mastery or beast mastery then are there other masteries such as reptile mastery and bird mastery? there¡¯s only one way to find that out but that question whether I want to go taming animals all willy nilly¡ so many questions¡
After a while, Quill finally breaks out of his inner monologue to see Yuki sitting there obediently waiting for him.
¡°Yuki, shall we go and kill some wolves?¡±
Yuki nodded her head before climbing onto Quills shoulder. Quill picks up his spear and walks out of what once was the rabbit habitat, never looking back.
chapter 11 - barely managing
Quill walks through the forest with Yuki on his shoulder, glancing around and changing direction every now and then. He said he was going to kill the wolves but he had one big problem standing in the way of doing that.
¡°just where are the wolves?¡±
After wandering around for two days Quill has managed to find a pack of two-tailed monkeys, a herd full of rainbow coloured zebras and even a rock with wings! But not a single wolf has been seen. If there¡¯s any good news then that would be his firemaking skill leveled up.
¡¯how come whenever I don¡¯t want them to show up they do and the one time I want them to show up there¡¯s not even a trace of them?''
Quill suddenly flinches, a large rumbling can be heard, getting louder, louder and louder. Getting out a javen with his right hand and holding his spear in left, Quill prepares himself. Yuki on his shoulder looks worried. Throughout these two days not once has a fight occurred. Most food has come from berries and plants so not even one animal has been hunted. It¡¯s natural for someone who never even fought before to be frightened, let alone worried.
¡¯what the hell is coming¡¯
A wonder of colours suddenly appear in front of Quill covering his entire vision. Quil jumps towards the side to escape whatever it is. Quill looks towards the attacker. It¡¯s gone. Whatever it was is gone but the sound is still there. More colours start to appear and rush past Quill not even minding him. Now Quill knows what¡¯s going on. Its zebras, rainbow zebras. An entire herd of rainbow zebras running through the forest like their lives depend on it.
¡¯so many zebras, it¡¯s a wonder they don¡¯t hit any trees, wait, not the time to think that. They¡¯re definitely running from something and I feel it might be dangerous¡ could it be? wolves? are wolves chasing them? Finally! after two days, I finally found some wolves!¡¯
After the rainbow zebras pass Quill prepares himself into his previous position to take down the pursuer of the zebras.
The pursuer not long arrives and slashes it¡¯s claws at Quill. Quill barely dodges the strike while simultaneously throwing the javelin.
¡¯fast!¡¯
Quill finally gets a good look at the pursuer. Six foot tall, four thick limbs, thick red fur, stubby snout and a stubby tail.
¡¯that¡¯s not a wolf, that¡¯s a bear!¡¯
right, a bear. A bear has appeared in front of Quill. The bear and Quill stare at eachother. Quill grabs his spear in both hands, not daring to grab another javelin in fear of creating an opening. The previous javelin seems to have missed as it¡¯s embedded in a near by tree and the bear has no apparent wounds.
The bear stand on his hind legs and roars as an attempt to intimidate. Quill takes this chance to attack, stepping forwards and thrusts towards the heart. The bear counters with his claws, attacking from the side. Barely seeing the attack from the side Quill ducks, the claws slash just above his head, catching a few hairs. Quill aiming his spear upwards to pierce the stomach but it barely pierced the skin!
¡¯what kind of skin has the goddamn bear got!¡¯
Jumping back Quill yet again stares at the bear. it didn¡¯t even looked injured at all, while there was a trickle of blood, the bear didn¡¯t even look like it was in pain at all. Shocked at this Quill started to think of his options.
¡¯should I run? no, this thing was capable of taking chasing down those zebras, there¡¯s no way of outrunning it. Then how do I fight it, I can hardly do any damage and I can just about see it¡¯s movements, maybe I can wear it down from a distance, it¡¯s risky but if it doesn¡¯t know the threat of javelin the I can atleast get in a free shot, hopefully I can get it¡¯s eye or something.¡¯
Quill takes a few steps back and takes his right hand off his spear to reach for a javelin behind his back. As the bear is oblivious to the meaning of this action, it just watches Quill for any actions of getting closer. Though the bear doesn¡¯t look it but it is very wary of Quill. The choice to attack instead of running when there is no chance of winning is a completely unknown concept to the bear. Anything that chooses to fight is a potential danger, that is the law of this forest.
Quill takes out a javelin, aims at the bears head and launches it with all the power he has. As he does so Quill feels something strange flowing through him into the javelin. The javelin pierces the air as it spirals towards the bear hitting dead center in the stomach piercing through.
The bear roars in pain as fifth of the javelin is stuck in it¡¯s chest.

¡¯what the hell was that? wait, now¡¯s, not the time, I gotta take this chance''
Quill quickly grabs another Javelin from behind him and tries to do the same thing.
¡¯ok, same thing, no idea how I done it but hopefully it¡¯ll happen again¡¯
Quill throws the javelin and feels that same strange feeling flow into the javelin again. The javelin flies through the air again, soaring straight past the bear and embeds itself into a tree.
¡¯again!''
Quill throws the javelin filled with that strange feeling again, It yet again missed the bear, embedding itself into a tree.
¡¯dammit, again¡¯
Quill throws another javelin only for it to miss again. Repeating this process for a second, third and even a fourth time still ended up in misses.
¡¯again!¡¯
Quill reaches back for another javelin but to only grab air.
¡¯out already? damn, only got the option to get in close with the spear¡¯
The bear who till now has been roaring with pain finally comes to it¡¯s sense and towards Quill. It now knows why Quill didn¡¯t run. It now knows what makes Quill so dangerous. In close range Quill can hardly damage the bear but from a distance he is a deadly existence.
Grabbing the spear in both hands Quill also charges at the bear. The bear seeing this is quite confused, why would a creature who¡¯s weak at a close range run towards him, it¡¯s like he¡¯s running towards his death, but as the bear has already experienced one of Quills close ranged attacks, it know they didn¡¯t hold much danger so didn¡¯t falter and still charged. After getting close enough Quill striked out with his spear with all his power willing that strange feeling into the spear but nothing flows.
¡¯eh? where is it? why isn¡¯t it flowing?¡¯
The spear pierces towards the bear but does barely any damage. The bear swings his claws at Quill.
¡¯crap, can¡¯t dodge in time¡¯
Quill watches as the claw moves towards him to inevitably take his life. As the claw gets one inch from his face the claw stops and the bear has roared out. Quill looks back at the bear in surprise. The javelin that was in his stomach has been pushed further in.
¡¯what the?¡¯
As the claw was closing in on Quill, Yuki who was on his shoulder the whole time jumped towards the bear and headbutted the edge of the javelin further in causing the bear to roar out in pain.
¡¯a chance!¡¯
Quill jumps onto javelin, using it to propel him upwards above the bear, brings his spear behind his head and stabs downwards piercing the bears eye. The bear roars while swaying it¡¯s head left right trying to chake Quill off but only causes the spear to twist causing it even more pain. Quill kicks the side of javelin as he is swayed about as well causing excruciating pain for the bear two different places. The javelin snapped from all the repetitive kicking from Quill and along with the snap the bear finally collapsed to the ground.
¡°hah, hah, that was a close one¡±
Quill catches his breath as he looks at the dead corpse of the bear then looks at Yuki.
¡°Yuki, you saved my life there, thanks, and from now on we should fight as a team¡±
As Yuki nods the usual window stating the end of combat pops up but another window pops up right after it.
you have learnt the power throw skill
the skill throwing has leveled up
the skill mammal mastery has leveled up
the skill mammal mastery has leveled up
the skill stab leveled up
the skill stab leveled up
¡°a new skill!¡±
chapter 12 - cooking is a wonderful thing
¡¯this skill, power throw, is this the cause of that strange feeling? If so then it explains a why the javelin could damage the bear so badly while the spear hardly did anything. But why wouldn¡¯t the feeling flow into the spear? the only difference between the javelin and the spear is the length and the stone spearhead, I doubt that is enough of a difference to prevent the flow. Maybe the fact that one is identified by the system as different objects makes the difference? thinking about this is getting me nowhere, besides that I also got quite a few levels. My stab skill actually managed to level up twice even though it was taking hours just to level up before, is it because I was actually stabbing something? is that the difference? then that would explain why the throwing skill has been leveling up faster than stab but throwing slowed down as well, in fact, I haven¡¯t used it since it ranked up yet it managed to level up as well, strange. And mammal mastery as well, that also leveled up twice, is it because Yuki attacked as well? so this skill parallels with Yukis abilities? so if I manage to train this skill then would Yuki be the most amazing rabbit ever? there¡¯s only one way to try that out, I should try and spar with Yuki to see if the skill levels up, but first, lets deal with the bears body¡¯
Quill walks over to the corpse of the bear, takes off his backpack and takes out a sharp rock.
¡¯good thing I left one in here, otherwise i¡¯d have to make a new one¡¯
using the sharp rock Quill skins the bear of the skin. Given the toughness of the bear, Quite a bit of power to skin it making it a very rough job, more than usual, with holes and uneven thickness but the skinning was still successful and the skinning skill managed to level up three times.
¡¯it leveled up quite a bit but I guess that makes sense with how difficult this thing was to skin¡¯
Quill looked at the newly skinned pelt, thinking of what to do with it before looking to the body of bear as his stomach growled.
¡°guess it¡¯s bear today¡±
Quickly gathering materials from the surroundings, Quill started a fire. Though it still took a while before he could get the fire started. At this point Yuki was quite used to Quill making fires but was a bit confused as that would be in the night before sleeping. Yuki curiously approached wondering what was going on.
¡°Yuki? we¡¯re gonna have some food, wait, can you eat meat?¡±
Yukis head tilts as if not understanding.
¡¯guess there¡¯s only one way to find out, real rabbits can¡¯t but this is a game so who knows? well, mom and dad knows but that¡¯s besides the point, at least there¡¯s plenty of plants around if she can¡¯t eat it¡¯
Quill goes over to the bear and cuts off a chunk of meat off, sticks a stick into it and puts it over the fire, turning it every now and then to make sure it gets cooked. After the meat was properly browned he took it away from the flame and then.
you have learnt the cooking skill
This tale has been unlawfully lifted without the author''s consent. Report any appearances on Amazon.
¡¯cooking skill? how come only now I got this? wouldn¡¯t this be one of the first skills learnt? now that i think of it, this is probably only the second time i¡¯ve actually cooked. I¡¯ve mainly been eating berries and wild veg that Yuki would give me¡¯
After finishing his inner monologue, Quill breaks off a bit of the hot meat, slightly burning his hands but not too much, and gives it to Yuki.
¡°try it, if you can eat it then great, but if you can¡¯t don¡¯t force yourself¡±
Yuki sniffs the meat for a bit and inspects it before running off to eat some plants.
¡¯full herbivore then, just like a normal rabbit¡¯
Quill eats the piece of meat he was going to give to Yuki and was quite surprised. The meat had much more flavour than the wolf meat. The texture wasn¡¯t rough and it was relatively easy to chew.
¡¯this...this is amazing! is this the effect of the cooking skill? i¡¯ve been missing out! from now on i¡¯m gonna hunt down animals from meals, much better than just eating plants¡¯
Little did Quill know that the cooking skill hardly had any effect on the taste of the meat and the quality of the bear meat may be a factor but because he hasn¡¯t had meat since he first cooked the wolf meat his body has been craving the taste of meat without him realising. Not eating meat for over a week was not something Quill would usually do. Even when eating a salad he had to have ham or chicken with his salad, in fact, he probably set a record for how long he has went without food.
Quill quickly wolfed down the rest of the meat and even cut some more meat off the bear, cooked it and even ate that. yuki just looked at him in disbelief, how could someone eat so much? By the end there was only half of the meat left on the bear.
As Quill relaxed with a bulging stomach he looked towards the pelt of the bear.
¡¯what can I do with the pelt? it was hard to pierce so it probably has more defence than the wolf pelt i¡¯m wearing right now so maybe I can wear the bear pelt like how i¡¯m wearing the wolf pelt and experiment with the wolf pelt? it would be good to make proper clothes instead of wearing an improvised cloak and a leaf, wait, what the hell happened to the bear!¡¯
While being lost in thought, he glanced towards the bear only to be shocked at the sight. What happened to all the meat on the bear? Quill just couldn¡¯t figure this out. In his mind, no matter how hungry he was, there was no way he would be able to eat half of the bear
¡¯there¡¯s only one logical explanation, a wild animal must have came while I was distracted and ate most of the meat, yeah, that has to be it. There¡¯s no way I¡¯ll be able to eat that much on my own¡¯
Quill may be in denial about his new found gluttony.
