《Cyber World Alpha》 Chapter 1 : The death Hi, I am Jake Ryan. I am a normal college student. At least I used to be. I am 19 years old, 6.1¡¯¡¯ high, and a slim, muscular healthy adult. I was in my way to college. It was 8 am 20 April 2020. I am a student at the St. Marks University, London. It¡¯s been 8 years since we shifted from USA. Earlier we used to live in New Jersey but dad was promoted to London office. We, I mean, me and my dad. My mother left my father when I was 6. The typical, ¡°I woman live my life my own way¡±. It¡¯s all good and all but what about me. I was shifting from mom¡¯s house to dad every 6 months then remained with him. Now I am here in London. I had reached the gate of the college. The gate was 5 m long and painted grey. It was made of iron bars. I opened the gate and entered inside. There were cars all parked around the streets. How disgusting it looks. Shouldn¡¯t the authorities look whether the cars are parked properly? It is a daily site in this place. So I just left after parking my bike. Let¡¯s go to my first lecture. It was all usual daily routine. After 4 hours, finally it was break time. I went to the cafeteria where I met my friends. My Friend are not from my course. Sam is from maths, George is from chemistry, and Elena is from computers. While I am from physics and have also a lot of knowledge of computers. We all sat down in the cafeteria to eat. We all bring our own lunch. The lunch provided here didn¡¯t suit our taste. The usual atmosphere got built up. We were talking about various things. Elena was laughing at something Sam had said. Ah, the look in his eyes. He is in love with her. But I don¡¯t think she will go out with him. Unlucky him. I entered and sat down on the chair. The principal was looking at me gloomily with a frown. I wondered if I did anything to offend anyone. I don¡¯t actually. So I asked him, ¡°Yes sir, you called for me?¡± [Jake] ¡°Hmm yes I did.¡± [Principal] ¡°Listen Jake, you must stay balanced. Father was never the type to accept defeat. Even if he was fired he will stay relaxed. Was he murdered? A storm of thoughts was running in my mind as I left. I didn¡¯t had the mood to attend the classes any further and went to the site. There were police officers all around. The place where he fell was closed to public and the area was marked with chalk. I asked around for the news from an officer but they were still searching. According to the police, there was no witness and cam recordings were gone for the last whole day. It was all too suspicious. He was murdered. I didn¡¯t know what to do anymore so I went to the church. I just sat there on a bench listening to a chorus by children. But I could hear nothing. After an hour I left. 5 days passed. In these few days, I had to deal with all the formalities being the only member of family. I even got a sms from mom. Many colleagues of dad and friends also came. Even though they said everything will improve, how will it improve? After all these days of dealing with large no. of people I first time came back home relaxed. I was tired and decided to sleep. The next morning, I woke early to go to college. It was 6 am. I brushed and opened my dad¡¯s cupboard to get some towel. But my eyes were struck at an object. It was a black box. I don¡¯t remember seeing it there. It was suspicious. I took it in my hands, but as soon as I touched white light radiated out of it. I fell on the floor in surprise. The box was on the ground and a voice came. ¡°Consciousness confirmed. Jake Ryan¡± I was surprised to see the box. Although it wasn¡¯t that strange. But then a body started to grew around the box. The face of that person shook my soul. ¡°Dad, you are alive?¡± [Jake] ¡°Well, technically yes, practically no.¡± [Joseph] ¡°How, I mean I saw your body?¡± I was so happy but then I received that news. ¡°No I am dead. This is just one of the last wisp of my consciousness that I stored yesterday. I was afraid I would be killed. Jake remember be brave and listen properly. But such a news couldn¡¯t be given to the public as it will cause breakdown of society all over the world. Humans are desperate in nature. If they knew they will dies soon, you can¡¯t even imagine what would have happened.¡± ¡°In order to prevent the destruction of the earth, UN decided to establish a project and promoted to each country. It was called, ¡°cyber world alpha¡±. The idea started from a young scientist at some backwater research institute who claimed he could store a person¡¯s consciousness as data. The government seized all his research, and the project was created, with its aim to use a million supercomputers on moon to store whole planets population as data. ¡° ¡°100s of elite coders, physicists, chemists, psychologists, and all were called upon to create an exact virtual replica of the whole world. It took a decade .in the end we succeeded and we were all already on moon when earth was smashed to smithereens.¡± ¡°Anyways, its origins aside, this whole project is run by a system AI called AVA. Before the start of the project we coders were called upon to create a program call level clearance to satisfy the greed¡¯s of the officials of UN. In the end 10 levels were created. Each level having a huge difference from each other. A level 6 clearance was given to all the presidents and level 5 was given to prime ministers. While us coders and other staff also got level 4. But a faction of coders created a bug which allowed people to increase their level by taking the level cards of other people¡± ¡°This faction called itself, ¡°revolution¡±. In my view they are all fanatics. Then they also created a similar function so that starting from level 5 card holders could allow 5 people level access lower than theirs by 1 level. In the end there was war and now revolution is on the hunt. They tried to kill me to get my level 4 card for their gains but those fools didn¡¯t know I was prepared and stored my level card at home.¡° Dad then stood up and went to a drawer and opened it. It was his personal drawer so I never checked it before. He took out a plane looking metallic card with a level 4 written on it. Dad came to my side and gave it to me. ¡°Son, take this. This card will decide your destiny. If you absorb it in your body then you will bear the fate to save the world and might get deleted on the way. But you can also live your life happily. I quickly opened the gate to the basement and then pressed a button on the gate. The gate turn end from wood to iron and then shut itself instantly. Meanwhile noise of a gate being broken could be heard. The police must have broken in huh? I need to move faster .I quickly went down the basement, turned on the light and was surprised by the site in front of me. When did dad buy a Ducati? I never thought dad could buy it with his own income. I quickly took out the key from a box and then turned the bike on. Wroom Wroom. This bike is so awesome. As if I had forgotten everything. I was staring at it dazed. But another loud noise woke me up. It seems they had reached the basement gate. I didn¡¯t know how much that gate can hold them. I quickly sat on it and quickly pressed a button a side wall of basement. As soon as I pressed it a wall turned into nothing and then a clear passage could be seen to the street behind the house. I didn¡¯t remember this passage being there. I quickly drove the bike out from there. Suddenly something grazed past my ears. Ah it was bleeding profusely. Fuck! I was almost killed by the police. I have to get away from here fats. The message dad imprinted in my brain contained location of a safe house. I would go there now. May be I will learn more there. But first of all I should assimilate the level card with my consciousness. I started to drive the bike towards the location of safe house and took out the card with a hand while driving with the other. As soon as I expressed my desire to fuse it, it disappeared. Pushing these thoughts aside I decided to think up ways to get rid of the people following me. The safe house that my dad had given me information of was too far from here. I am in London whereas that safe house is in India! How am I supposed to go there so quickly! It will be quiet difficult to get rid of these people. Hmm maybe there are clearance level beings among them. I have to be careful now. Even if I know that I am level 4 clearance being now, but how can I use it to evade! I don¡¯t know shit about this level thing. As I was thinking about this matter, a message popped up LEVEL 4 CLEARANCE AUTHORITY 1. I choose my destination inside a subway train and teleport there instantly. As I appeared inside the train people seemed to be shocked as everyone got up from their seats and ran away at the same instant. Ami really that scary? I sit down at seat beside an old lady who seems to be sleeping till now. Ah she has woken up! Don¡¯t stare at me old lady! I am not a monster! The train stops after 5 minutes at a station. The platform is too crowded, so I easily blend in with the crowd and make my way to the toilet. After I saw the gate I opened it carefully. No enemy was there. Have I been watching movies a lot? The old man went around in a corridor like maze and entered another room. The room was big enough to fit a stadium full of people. There was only a pool sized table in the center. There were 8 people there sitting on chair. The old man went and sat on an empty chair. Then he said, ¡°Let¡¯s begin¡± At this a young man stood up. He faced everyone and said, ¡°As you all know project revolution is 90% complete. All that we need is a level 6 card so that we can make a level 7 card. We are already in possession of 9 level 6 cards. But all the presidents, prime ministers have either went missing or were killed by us. So we need a level 6 card and we have come up with a way to create for us a level 6 card.
