《Becoming a mesiah》 Chapter 1 - Sorrow White was all that surrounded him when he finally woke up. The white, poorly plastered walls gave one a nauseated feeling. The brightly lit florescent lights force his pupils to dilate as he finally opened his heavy eyelids. His lips were already beginning to crack as he opened his mouth. His brain always seemed to go at a faster pace than everyone else''s, but today he couldn''t seem to think of anything. He was tired. His body was tired, his mind was tired, and even his sould felt like it had taken a beating from all the drugs that were being pumped into his system. He struggled to turn over to his side, hoping that the scenery on the other side of him might have something that isn''t the color white. Turning over was something that took a lot of effort for him right now. His chest felt like there were 50 bricks sitting on top of him right now, and the pain was almost unbearable. If not for the morphine running through his system, he would have surely passed out by now. However, thinking about the imaginary bricks on his chest made him remember a movie he watched a little while ago where an old man died trying to stack as many bricks on his chest as he could. Despite the horrible circumstances, this brought a smile to the boys face and his lip finally burst open and blood started to seep into the perfect white sheets under his chin. Luckily, a hand carrying a paper towel started to wipe at his face until all the blood was gone. His head slowly gravitated towards the owner of the hand, and he was met with a sad smile that seemed to fill up his fathers face. Looking at his dad, the boys mind reeled from the shock for a moment. The person sitting next to him was indeed the father he had known and loved, however he looked like a completely different person. His usual dashing blue eye balls looked as if they had sunk into his head an inch since the last time he had seen him. His usual cheery personality was nowhere to be seen as he looked at his son; his eyes glancing over the terrible state that his boy was in. The boy''s grin slowly turned into a frown as he saw his fathers gruesome appearance. Throughout all the surgeries, his father had never shown such weakness in front of him before. He had always remained positive, and the boy needed that. If his father, the proud man that the boy had looked up to and admired his entire life, had lost hope... well, he didn''t even want to know what would happen to his psyche. His father was like a steady rock in a stream of sadness. Without him, the boy would certainly drown. "...Dad?... What''s wrong?" The barely audible words seemed to drizzle out of the boys mouth. However, his father immediately understood the words of his son. In fact, one could say that the father didn''t even have to hear the boy speak at all and he would know what was said. That was because, the father had been waiting for those exact words the entire night. His gruesome appearance, his sad, tired demeanor, these were all the result of anticipating those exact words for the last twelve hours. "The surgery was a success, they removed your heart tumor." The father''s words seemed to contrast the image that the boy was seeing in front of him. A tear rolled out of both the father''s and the son''s eyes at nearly the same time. The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation. The father bent over and used another paper towel to wipe at his son''s tears. The boy closed his eyes and for the first time in the past two years, he felt a sense of relief. For the first time, he was hopeful that he could live a normal life again after what felt like a century. Before the surgery, his mom loved to tease him and call him a romantic. When he was around 10 years old he found a book in his mothers clauset, "How to raise a sensitive child." It used to bother him, but his father told him that there were many positives to being a romantic. "Being extremely sensitive and passionate is something that I wish I was," said his father. "However, I''m not. You must have got it from your mother," he said with a wink. These past two years would be devastating for anyone, let alone a sensitive child. After going through seven open heart surgeries, his ribs felt play dough. Every surgery he would wake up in more pain; his body was starting to become addicted to the morphine and it''s numbing effects were becoming less and less apparent. However, he was also starting to enjoy the feeling and he would dread the time spent between surgeries without it. He was becoming a morphine addict at the age of 14, and he was aware of it. The stress that the physical pain along with the morphine addiction put on his brain was insurmountable. He was a smart child and he was constantly thinking about all the pain he was putting his family through, until about the fourth surgery. By the fourth surgery he couldn''t take it any more. If he kept agonizing about his situation and the past surgeries, he would surely go insane before it was all over. As his brain was about to snap, he decided to become completely apathetic. What was once a energetic, happy boy now looked devoid of any life. To make it to the seventh, and final surgery he had basically been a living corpse with no emotions; addicted to morphine, barely hanging on to life. That was, until now. His father''s words opened him up again for the first time in over a year. With it came all the memories and experiences of his pain and suffering that he had to endure to survive. He started to cry. He couldn''t remember the last time he cried, and as such he cried with all his heart and cried until he could cry no more. He felt like a human again. Once he was finally done crying, he wiped at his tears with his shaking hands and looked up at his father. His father was crying too, however where there was once a smile there was now a frown made up of quivering lips with tears running down the corners of them. The boy had never seen his father cry before, and seeing him like this scared him. "..Dad?" The boy asked hesitantly. "Vince.." *Hic* he said through his sobs, "...your mother has leukemia." Chapter 2 - Time heals all wounds Hello readers. I''m not sure how many people will read this story, however I''m thankful for each and every person that does. I''m sorry if the first few chapters have been a little boring, but I felt like it was necessary to give a little background into the characters. Now, once we get into the meat of story, Vincent''s actions will be justified (somewhat). Chapter 2 Time heals all wounds --------------------- Vincent awoke to the raspy sound of his own breathing. He stared at the ceiling for a moment as he cleared his throat of the mucus accumulated throughout the night. Slowly, Vince climbed out of bed and walked into the bathroom. Dipping his head under the sink, he drank his fill of cold water from the faucet and slowly raised his head. Staring back at him was no longer a boy, but a young man that was more than just attractive. His light blue, azure colored eyes fit well with his shaggy, long blonde hair that was pulled back behind his ears. He had a thin face, but a defined jaw line with a minute amount of facial hair beginning to grow in. His shirt was off, and you could see the countless number of scars that covered his chest and back. After several years of people asking where he got them, he decided that it was easier to joke around and started telling people that he, "Got them from a shark attack." People would always laugh and brush it off, but they''d usually stop pestering him with questions. If you looked at his face for more than a couple seconds you''d see that one of his eyes was slightly closed more than the other. This was due to the fact that during his fifth surgery, the surgeon accidentally destroyed a bundle of nerves connected to his eyelid. Vince looked a little different than most people, however he was still a good looking kid. At the end of all the surgeries, something else had happened within his body; his skin on the left side of his body was a slightly different color than the skin on the right side of his body. It was more apparent when he started to sweat; directly in the middle of his body you could see a line reaching from the top of his head down to his groin separating the two halves. He''d told the doctors about it and went in for several check-ups. None of the doctors could pinpoint the problem, and they''d eventually given up and blamed it on the nerves that were destroyed. "Vince, time to get up," he heard his dad yell up the stairs. His Father''s name was Robert, however everyone called him rob. At most times, he was a serious man. He was a big guy, over six feet tall and still in shape from his days as a mountaineering guide. His most impressive days were those in which he was a guide for climbers wishing to scale the tallest mountain on earth: Mount Everest. After several years of doing this, he met his wife, my mother Anne, and decided to stop mountaineering and settle down. Today, he runs a small climbing gear store near the house and uses his fame and connections in the climbing scene to keep his business moderately successful. Vince helps him out every once in a while, which seems to be one of the few things that brings a smile to the man''s face any more. "Coming." Vince tossed on a pair of clothes and headed out the door. His school was only a short jog away, and it had become part of his physical therapy to run to school. Of course, over three years he had already fully recovered and now he ran just to be in shape. He hated how weak he had become over the two years of surgery, and he never wanted to feel like that again. Vince was seventeen now. Today was his birthday, and he wasn''t quite sure how to feel. The past three years had been some of the hardest years of his life. When he first recovered and had attended school, there weren''t many people that were willing to come up and talk to him. He went to middle school with all of them, but seeing as he was in surgery for two years, everyone felt like strangers. Becca, the quiet, nerdy girl had started to mature into a beautiful woman. Ethan, who used to be the class clown, was suddenly a sports nut and the star of the rugby team. Then there was Jake; the only person whom Vince felt like he still knew. Jake was always Vince''s best friend. He was a goofy kid, always laughing and making jokes out of things. Sometimes it got annoying; you could never have a serious conversation with the kid about something that actually mattered. But when Vince had returned to school, he was glad that Jake hadn''t changed over the years. Jake was the only person that came up to Vince and acted like nothing had happened. Instantly, they were best friends again. Over the past three years, Vince had slowly started to open up. Today, he had a small group of four close friends. There was Jake, who was already mentioned, and there were two others: Valeria and Scott. Jessica, whom everyone called Jess, had only recently started hanging out with the gang after her and Vince had a class together. She was an absolutely gorgeous girl. She had dark brown hair, auburn eyes and a stunning body. He always wondered why she didn''t have a boyfriend, but that question was answered when he overheard two guys talking about how "crazy" she was in the hall. Scott was the final member of his group, and the most normal of them all. He was a big kid, two inches taller than Vince, who was 6''3". Saying that he was only two inches taller than Vince didn''t give him justice, however. Scott was not only 6''5", he was over two hundred pounds of pure muscle, which left everybody wondering why he wasn''t on a sports team. Contrary to his looks, Scott was one of the most sincere kids Vince had ever met. During the first week of school, Scott had came up and sat with him and Jake at the lunch table. He was kind of a quiet guy, but you could tell that he was smarter than he let on. He''d always laugh at Jake''s goofy behavior, and soon it just became normal for him to sit with us at lunch. This narrative has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. If you see it on Amazon, please report it. Today, Jake was being his usual self at the lunch table and was berating some poor freshman who had sat at "our" table. "Who the fuck do you think you are, Rosa Parks?" He said with a slight grin to the younger boy. "Uhm, sorry..." The boy, who had a confused look, scampered off. "You didn''t have to be so mean to him, Jake," said Scott with a hurtful expression on his face. "Yeah Jake, you dick," chimed in Val from the side as she looked at Vince and gave him a wink. Vince, not really knowing how to respond, simply smiled at Val and sat down. It seemed like Val liked him, and more than as friends. He honestly had started to become interested in her as well. She was smart, funny and beautiful and seemed like a nice person. She was starting to openly give hints, but he wasn''t really sure how to handle them. After his surgery was successful, his father had crushed the little bit of hope he had for being happy. He couldn''t really blame his father at all though, if he had waited and told Vince about the cancer any later, it would have been an injustice. Nonetheless, hearing that his mother had cancer had destroyed him on the inside. If his father was a rock that he held onto in a river of sadness, his mother was the sun. She kept him warm; she was a fiery existence that constantly reminded him of the good things in life. She loved to go to church on Sunday, and she would always drag me along when I was able to come. "How romantic." She would say, with stars in her eyes. "Imagine, Vince, just for a second, that there is some higher power out there that created us and protects us. Isn''t that wonderful?" As he cried in his hospital bed three years ago, her words were all that went through his mind. "Why does this have to happen to me?" He thought as tears flowed out from his eyes. After several minutes, sadness turned into anger. Vince was mad. Why did this have to happen to him? Why did this have to happen to his mother, who had never done anything wrong in her entire life? Why did this have to happen to his beautiful mother, the one who truly believed that a higher power looked over us and protected us. His teeth ground together and his hands were gripping onto the white bed sheets. "Happy birthday, Vince." Jessica''s words broke him out of his trance and the horrible emotions of the past. "Thanks, Jess." Vince said, somewhat glad that someone had said something, however, he was also kind of angry that he had to be remembered that it was his birthday. After all, today was... "Hey, how about we give our birthday boy a day to remember?" Said Jake with a mischievous grin. "Jake, plea-" "Happy Birthday to you!" Jake said in an exaggerated, drawn out manner. By the second line, it seemed like all five hundred or so people in the cafeteria had started to join in. By the, "Happy Birthday dear Jake," line, Vince wasn''t feeling so good. His head was starting to spin and it felt like his heart was beating out of his chest. *Doki*... *Doki*.. *Doki*. He couldn''t take it any more. His heart felt like it was going explode. The rhythm of the mass of people singing ''Happy Birthday'' was starting to sound like some sort of chant. Everyone, together, repeating the same words. The words seemed to harmonize with the beating of his heart, making him remember the last time he had felt his heart beat this hard. It was bringing back memories that he had desperately tried to forget. Memories of his mom. Memories memories of her. The same white walls surrounded her: white bed sheets, white fluorescent lights. Even her skin looked as white as a sheet of paper. His poor mother, who used to be like the sun, had become like this... He was starting to become angry, his grin quickly becoming a scowl. Vince was mad. He was mad at Jake for putting him in this situation. He was mad at the doctors for failing to fix him six times in a row. He was mad that his mom had to deal with cancer. His sweet mother had to experience excruciating pain for nearly two years. The doctors were constantly shooting her up with medicine, even worse than the shit he had to deal with. Blood tests, pills, bone marrow transplants... Then came the chemo. Radiation burned into her skin and killed as many cells as they could. He had stayed at the hospital one night trying to keep his mother comfort, only to be awoken at night by her shrill screams. She had to endure so much pain. Her screams that night were filled with pain that even Vincent could only imagine. He cried himself to sleep that night in the chair outside of her room; he was too weak and scared to console his mother. "I don''t know what she''s going through," he thought to himself at the time while sobbing. "No one can help her." Over the next month, his mom went through the final stages of the chemo. He tried to be brave, but every time he went to the hospital he would feel nauseated and start puking. "She''s a fighter," the doctors would say with some hope in their eyes. It was exactly a year ago, when he got the call during class. "Vince, your mother needs you," he heard his father say over the phone. He ran from his school to the hospital as fast as his body would let him. Tears streamed down his eyes because he had heard his fathers voice. It sounded defeated. His father, the proud and confident man who had conquered the tallest mountain in the world, sounded like he had given up. In her room all you could hear was the steady buzz of the heart monitor in the corner. He was too late. It turns out the radiation had killed her before the cancer had the chance too. Killed her on his birthday. "Happy Birthday, Vince." --------------------------- Chapter 3 - The Voice Chapter 3- The Voice -------------------------------- Running home hadn''t helped his heart slow down at all; in fact it had done just the opposite. His usual calm demeanor was nowhere to be seen, and his face felt like it was on fire. There was this giant mess of anger in the pit of his stomach that he couldn''t seem to get rid of, no matter how hard he tried. The ''Happy Birthday'' chant in the cafeteria had reminded Vince of his mother and all the horrible things she had to go through before she died. His heart had started to beat at uncanny pace and at first, he had thought that he was experiencing anxiety or nervousness. Right as Jake and the rest of the school were about to finish the last line of the song, he couldn''t take it any more. "Shut the fuck up!" he had yelled, smashing his hand not on, but through, the table. If Vince had been in his right mind, he would have been utterly astonished. While he wasn''t a weak kid, he definitely was not strong enough to smash through the plywood table. The whole cafeteria was in complete silence. Some of the freshman girls looked like they were about to cry, and almost everyone had stopped mid sentence which left them all with their mouths hanging open. "Yo, what the fuck Vin-" "Shut up, Jake," said Becca with a pained expression on her face. Vince felt no remorse for his actions and immediately grabbed his things and left, all the while leaving the cafeteria in silence. As he walked out the door, the female vice principle hurried after him. "Vincent, where do you think you''re going?! Especially after that mess you made. Get back here immediately!" Said the vice principle, obviously flustered. Without saying anything, Vince turned around and gave her a stare full of anger. Projecting his emotions onto the woman, his sharp, blue eyes seemed to pierce into her soul. The poor, fragile woman buckled under the pressure after a couple seconds and fell to her knees with a confused look. Merely glancing over her with a look of contempt, Vince ran back to his house, still just as angry as before. Vince, finally making it back to his house, started to break down. At first, he was only angry. Hitting the ground, hitting the walls, banging his head against the door. Tears streamed down his face not because of sadness, but because of the frustration he felt. Frustration towards everything and every one. "Why do I have to go through so much pain and suffering?" he asked himself. First the heart tumor, now the death of his mother. He''d been trying to remain strong, but all the anger and resentment had been building up inside of him since the day his mother died. Vince wasn''t sure if their was a "higher power" or a "creator," however he knew that if there was, such a being was someone he absolutely despised. That person had the power to make his life even a little bit less painful, and instead, as if spitting on his face, his mother was killed in front of him. Enjoying this book? Seek out the original to ensure the author gets credit. Anger poured out of Vince until there was no more anger left. There was an empty void in his heart where the anger left, and what filled it''s place was sadness. He was tired. Tired of living a life filled with pain and sadness. Even if there was no ''heaven,'' or reincarnation, in Vince''s mind, anything was better than the pain and sadness he was feeling right now. Walking into his dad''s garage, the place was messy. Boxes lay disfigured in the corner, worn climbing ropes were coiled on top of shelves. Vince walked over to one of the drawers and grabbed some of the climbing rope. Inspecting it for worn spots that might result in a snapping of the rope, Vince cut a 4 foot long piece off and climbed on top of the desk. Reaching above him, Vince tied one end of the rope to the rafter above him, and on the other end he began to tie a noose. "Wrap it around once and put the rope through. Next, follow your original not through again. This climbing not will only get tighter if you fall on it, so you can be sure that you''re safe," he remembered his fathers advice on tying a double eight not. "Thanks dad," he said to himself and quietly chuckled through his stream of tears as he remembered a bit of the past. When his mom got sick, Vince was petrified. "How will I live without my mom? No, mom is going to live... she has to. If she dies I''d kill myself," he thought over and over again. When his mom finally died, he''d thought about ending it then and there, but he was too weak. He didn''t have the resolve to end his puny, small existence. He couldn''t commit suicide because it was too scary. That would be the end of me? What if no one cares that I''m even gone? These thoughts raced through his head the first time he thought about giving up on life. Now, however, he had resolve. The chanting in the lunch room had brought back memories that plagued him with sadness. Slipping his head into the noose, Vincent felt the stray threads of the rope digging into his neck. Looking around one last time, Vincent tightened the noose around his neck. "Mom, I love you and I hope I can be with you again. Dad, I''m sorry for leaving you alone," Vince managed to push out in between sobs. Finally, Vince closed his eyes and slowly stuck his left foot out into the air. "Hello my child." ---------------------------- Anyone who is reading, thank you :). I had a lot of fun writing this chapter. I''d also like to thank my girlfriend, Devin, for proofreading my chapters and helping me out. I''m planning on getting the next chapter out tomorrow or maybe even tonight! Thanks again! Chapter 4 - Hope Chapter 4 - Hope ------------------------------------------------ "....What?!" Vince thought. However, it was too late. His foot had already left the top of the cabinet. His body, swaying in a perpetual motion, felt as if it was falling off of the edge of the world. He remembered reading a story about a guy name Evan who jumped off the golden gate bridge and survived. The only thing he remembered thinking before he hit the water was regret. In the minuscule moment between life and death, Vince Edwards had finally realized that he didn''t want to die; however life was going to screw him one last time before he died. The rope got tighter around his neck as he felt the life being squeezed out of him. Grasping at rope, Vince tried one last desperate attempt at saving his own life, however it was to no avail. Putting his arms down, all he could hear was the beating of his own heart trying it''s hardest to supply his brain with oxygen. Remembering the strange voice he heard only seconds before, Vince was saddened. Finally, when he died, all he was going to be left with was questions. Slowly, darkness crept into the corner of his vision and slowly consumed him. Then he felt some relief. Suddenly, something was pushing up on his legs! He could feel the pressure around his neck getting looser and looser. With some sense of hope left, Vince clawed at the rope and loosened it enough that he could finally pull his head out. Releasing his head, he finally fell to the ground and sprawled out. Sweat was covering his beat red face as he gasped for air. "I''ll never take oxygen for granted again in my life," he thought to himself. Finally coming to his senses, Vince heard that someone was sobbing. At first, he thought it might be himself, but on closer inspection he realized that there was a girl laying on his chest. "Vince," she said between sobs. Finally lifting her head, he saw that the girl was in fact Becca. "I... followed... and... I saw... Oh my god Vince..." she barely managed to choke out. Whether it was just because of the situation, or because of the intense gratitude he felt for this girl for saving his life, Vincent pushed his head down and gave Becca a firm kiss. Pulling away, you could see Rebecca''s eyes were filled with sadness as well as surprise. "I''m so sorry..." Vince finally managed to say, as tears were beginning to form in his eyes. "I just..." The tears were beginning to flow now, and Becca managed to return Vince''s earlier kiss as if to say, "It''s okay... I know... Everything is going to be okay..." Tears had turned into sobs for Vince now and he cried his heart out along with Rebecca. With her face pressed against his chest, her warm tears soaked into his shirt and onto his skin. Their bodies seemed to form perfectly together as they lie there, absorbing one another''s sadness. After about an hour, Becca finally lifted her head up and gave Vince a sad smile. "Oh god, I probably look horrible," she said in a muffled voice. "You look fine," said Vince, not in a very convincing manner. "...Do you mind if I go... like.. wash up.. inside?" she said. "O-of course. I mean, of course not. I mean... yeah, you can go wash up inside." The initial craziness of the situation had worn off, and now both of them were starting to realize how strange the situation was. Two people who had just been ''friends'' until yesterday were now lying on each other crying. Vince, still quite flustered, managed to lead her to his room with his bathroom attached to it. Becca managed to fix her makeup in the bathroom while Vince sat deep in thought. Did you know this story is from Royal Road? Read the official version for free and support the author."What was that voice?" He thought to himself. Vince could have sworn it called him ''child.'' Becca exited the bathroom, breaking Vince''s train of thought. "Wow," he thought to himself. Her hair was kind of messy and her eye liner was somewhat smudged, but until now he had never fully been able to appreciate how beautiful she was. Her breasts weren''t overly huge, however they seemed to fit perfectly with her body shape. Her face was by far her most beautiful feature, and her big, auburn, eyes stared at him for a couple of seconds before she sat down on his bed. Both of them were silent for a couple seconds before Vince couldn''t handle it any more. "Are you okay?" he asked her. "I should be the one asking you that! You were trying to kill yourself!" said Becca. "Yeah, well..." he said quietly. "I know... you don''t have to talk about it. I know you have more than one perfectly good reason for doing what you did. But I just want to let you know that people care. I care." Becca finally spurts out nervously. He''d heard this line before from cousins and aunts and uncles when his mother died, but something about the way she said it made it all the more believable. That, and the fact that she just saved his life. Vince hadn''t really had much contact with the opposite sex. He''d been in the hospital for two years, and since then he''d been battling deep depression. Despite that, what he did next felt completely natural to him. Vince brushed her hair over her ear with one hand, while the other hand wiped at a tear starting form on the corner of her eye. Holding her head in his hands, Vince pulled her close and locked her lips with hers in a much more intimate manner than the previous two kisses. Slowly, like a child learning to ride a bike, their tongues started to intertwine together and play mischievously with one another. After several minutes, Becca pushed Vince down onto the bed and started to take off his shirt. With only their underwear on, Vince started to play with her breasts that fit perfectly in his hand. Grabbing a condom out from a box under his bed. Rebecca grabbed it from him and proceeded to put it on him in a skilled manner. He wasn''t sure whether or not she had done this before, but he didn''t really care right now. Everything that he was doing right now felt so natural that he was surprised it was his first time. Becca grabbed his most precious part, and slowly guided it inside of herself. What came next was something that can''t be described in words. Rocking back and forth, moaning, sweating. He could have sworn it lasted for hours. All the pain and sadness Vince had to endure over the past couple years felt like it was being released in the form of sexual pleasure. The ball of sadness that was always lingering in the pit of his stomach seemed to be slowly being shared with Becca, and in turn lessening the burden on Vince. After several hours, Vince finally used up the last of his stamina and collapsed onto his bed. Him and Becca lay stark naked, completely drenched in beads of sweat. Vince pulled the covers over them and pulled her into his embrace, hugging her tight. All that could be heard was the heavy breathing of the two lovers as Vince slowly closed his eyes and drifted out of consciousness. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Wow. Well, I''m sorry for the long wait on this chapter. I was having trouble trying to figure out exactly where I wanted to go with this chapter. I thought maybe this would be taking things too fast... but I realized that''s kind of how life is some times. Also, this shows you guys a little bit about Vince. A little spontaneous maybe? ;) Anyways, thanks for reading and I''m sorry again for the wait. Much love to all my readers and if any of you want to leave comments/private messaged me or even leave a small review just know it means the world to me. Thanks again! Chapter 5 - The re-appearance Okay so... someone left a rating of one star on my story. They didn''t leave a review, so I''m assuming it''s just an immature person. If you actually don''t like my story, leave criticism and I might look at it. All reviews are welcome, and of course I would love positive reviews because more people will be able to read my story. Anyways, I''m planning on making my releases once a day from here on out. Thanks for reading! Chapter 5 - The re-appearance --------------------- "Mmmmmm...." Vince awoke to Becca nuzzling against against his chest. After all that had happened to him, this it felt an unbelievably good dream. "Morning," Vince said with a smile as Becca started to open her eyes. "Hey there," she said, staring up at him with loving eyes. "Uhmm, I''m sorry to say this but I think you should leave soon... My dad probably stayed the night at his office but I''m sure he''ll be back soon," said Vince with slight remorse. "Oh... yeah sorry that makes sense. I''ll be ready in a few." Watching her get dressed, Vince was able to admire how beautiful she was once again. It really did feel like a dream. It also made him want to continue what they did last night but... he wasn''t sure how his father would react if he walked in on that. Once she had left, it was finally time to figure out what exactly had happened in the garage last night. Right before he was about to die, he clearly heard a voice inside of his head. "Yeah that was me," said the voice out of nowhere. "...Hello?" Vince said out loud. He felt pretty stupid for talking to himself, but there was nothing he could do about it. "Hi." said the voice again. "...W-who are you?" "Well, that''s going to be a long story, but I suppose after waiting for a couple centuries, time is the one thing I DO have." Vince swore he could see the imaginary voice grinning at his own joke. "Ahhh where do I start? Well, I suppose I could keep it simple. In ancient Egypt, I was worshiped as Papep, the god of darkness." Vincent just stood there with his mouth slightly ajar, wondering if what he heard was actually true or not. Considering that he was hearing this ''God''s'' voice inside of his head right now, he decided to be quiet and listen. "Basically, me and the ruler of this planet, who was known as Ra during the Egyptian civilization, got into a fight. I''m not going to go into details, but I am believed to be dead by the other gods. In a last ditch effort to save my life, I spread bits of my conscious throughout this world in order to look for the right person." Vince''s brain absorbed all of this unbelievable knowledge at an alarming rate and was already beginning to come up with some theories as for why he was able to communicate with this person. The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement. "So the ''person'' that you were looking for was me?" he asked. "Well... yes and no. There''s no set destiny, so when I separated my conscious from my body, there was a chance that I''d never find the person I was looking for. You have to meet special... requirements." "And what are these requirements?" Vince responded. "You''re taking this pretty easy? Someone just starts talking in your head and telling you he''s a god and you don''t even bat an eyelash?" said the voice. "Well, either you are a god or I''m clinically insane. Someone talking to you inside your head is not a normal occurrence, no matter how you look at it. Anyways, why did you choose me, ....?" "Ah, right. You can call me Luke. As for why I chose you... well, that''s a hard one. Over the thousands of years that I''ve been searching the earth, billions upon billions of people have been born, and until now, I hadn''t chose even one of them. You can imagine how specific my requirements were." "Yeah, I guess, but still." "You being chosen means that you have a very large amount of hatred for the current God of this world. That in itself is peculiar enough, seeing as how most people that have unfortunate circumstances pushed on them, such as yours, give up on believing in a god." Vince thought of his mother and her dragging him to church every Sunday, even when he was reluctant to go. "Of course, there were other things that played into this choice of mine. Your body is very special. To say that someone with a body as strong as yours is born once every hundred years would be an understatement." "Those that were born with bodies such as yours in the past, went on to do great things. Rulers of entire countries, crusaders of continents. The most recent one was Genghis Khan, the founder of the Mongol Empire, and before him, Alexander the Great." You could hear Luke sigh as he was remembering the past. "You might be wondering why you haven''t been able to accomplish anything yet, and your heart is to blame for that. Ever since you were young your body''s potential has been dwarfed by the tumor inside of you. Finally, it has been removed." After pausing for a couple seconds, Vince decided to ask the question that had been nagging at the back of his mind this entire time. "So what do you want?" "I''m going to help you. Being alive for so long has left me with information that no other human being has access to. I''m sure you can imagine how invaluable that is..." Vince paused after hearing this. He wasn''t stupid. He knew that having access to a giant database of knowledge would make him one of the smartest men on earth. ''Knowledge is power'' they say. Still, Luke hadn''t really answered his original question, so he asked again, "What do you want from me?" "I want you to help me kill God."
