It observed its body, no, His body, judging from the jewels between his legs. A humanoid body, around 170 cm tall, with lean, defined muscles. A youthfull, slightly handsome face, with slightly pointed ears, an emerald green left eye and a deep blue right eye. His straight hairs reached to the middle of his back, and were of a deep black color. The young man observed himself, moved his body around, then focused on his surroundings. Then he noticed the odd place he was in. Dark, apparently an abandonned place. The air was stale and had a strong musty smell, coupled with traces of chemicals. He looked under him and saw that he had been in some kind of ovale, transparent container on a small table. The lighting came from a crystal in the back of the room. Most important was the presence of faintly glowing carvings on the transparent recipient, the table and running toward the crystal in series of complexe writings and paterns. - What am I doing here...!! After pondering about those questions for a bit, the young man decided to leave it for another time and inspected the room he was in more carefully. He got down to the stone ground with a small jump. The young man had a look at the differents tools and bottles presents in the room, but couldn''t find any real use for them since he didn''t really know what they were and what was their uses. The few he could somewhat identify didn''t strike him as usefull. More like they would be usless for him. He thought that in the near future if he find people that need things like this he might not mind coming back here to take them and sell it. Only if they are valuable. He found himself in a small, dark corridor made of stone, like the rest of the building it seemed. The faint glow of the crystal couldn''t illuminate the corridor. Despite the darkness, he could see the 3 doors at the end, one one each side and the last one in front of him. ''''It looks like this body of mine is quite performant. Inside, it looked like a really small study room, full of old books and scrolls on the shelves and a small table with a chair. The young man had a look at the books and scrolls, but he couldn''t read the language. ''''Differents places, differents languages... It will be troublesome to deal with the inhabitants...'''' He left the study and went to the other room. This one looked like a small storage room, with several chests and containers, and what looked like a wardrobe. Going through it, he found a lot of interesting things. Money, coins made of gold and silver. 37 gold coins and 62 silver coins. They were in a small bag the size of his hand, made of a strange organique material imbued in magic. This small bag could contain more than it seemed. The young man was really pleased with that. There were also several ores and metals, and some wepons with their sheaths, 2 swords, 3 daggers, a spear and 3 staves. For all of them he could feel magic engravings in. -Bladed weapons? It feels outdated. Another difference between the place I once lived and this one. ''''Outdated... Now that I think about it, even the tools, the vials, the book and the scrolls... There were many pieces of differents animal parts, leather, furs, claws, fangs, bones, eyes and other organs in transparent bottles full of liquid, probably some kind of conservative. There were also some pieces of fabrics for clothes, and even a few of them and some shoes. Unfortunately, they weren''t his size. Finally, there was a backpack, the same kind as the money bag, with abnormal storage space. -I guess some of these things will do for now. The young man used one of the daggers to cut 3 shirts and 2 pants down to his size, and put some on and the rest in the backpack. He also put all the weapons in the backpack except for the spear and a dagger he straped to his side with a belt, the money bag he hid under his shirt. He also put as much ores and monsters parts as he could in there. Then he put a cloak with hood on and carried the backpack. The space inside the backpack must have been the same size as an average adult man in height and width. The total weight was reduced, but it was still heavy. However the young man felt it wouldn''t be a problem for him. He couldn''t change the size of the shoes so he stayed bare footed. He left the room with the spear in hand and went toward the last door then stopped. ''''I should take some of these books and scrolls. I may not be able to read for now, but I will in the future, and the content may prove to be quite usefull or valuable'''' He exchanged a few things for a few books and scrolls, then went to the last door and opened it. He found himself in an empty cave, and in front of him, at a place where there seemed to have been stairs, he only found remains and big boulders. The exit was blocked. -No wonder the place was abandonned... He didn''t lnow a thing about magic so he had no idea of how to activate it. And he also had to consider how he was going to get out without causing another collapse. After some time, he stopped and lied against the wall, exhausted, then he fell asleep. He woke several hours later, slightly hungry and thirsty, but still full of energy. And he continued with his task of creating a tunnel to reach the surface. He didn''t exactly know how much time it took him, but for him it was around 4 days, and he moved around 50 meters up. The hunger and thirst had increased, but it was still bearable. As he was compressing a stone, he felt that there was nothing else beyond, so he opened a hole. He saw an unlit room, with a few old rubbles here and there, and an opened door. He got into the room and closed the hole behind him. It was a rather small room, but the scent in there was somewhat worse. The air wasn''t as stale as underground, but it carried the stench of decay and body wastes. ''''Some people are living in this abandonned place. Since they aren''t living in a proper place I should be wary of them. I''d better stay unnoticed until I learn more about what is happening'''' So, the young man advanced cautiously. Thankfully he didn''t need any light to see, but sadly, he had to use his nose to find the path toward the place where the people were staying. After passing 2 rooms, he could hear voices of people shouting and laughing, and also some women''s screams and whimpers. As stealthy as he could, he got close enough to see what was going on. He was hidding behind a half collapsed wall. There was a small hallway lit by a few torches, and lining the hallway were cells. There were women in those cells and they were being assaulted by rowdy men. The scent of alcohol, sweat and sex was strong in the air. He made a small hole and saw that it turned at a 90¡ã angle and there were stairs leading upward. Then he did something quite ingenious. With his ability, that he called ''matter manipulation'', he a piece of the wall, as high and wide as the hallway, and rotated it like a door to close the path to the stairs and the subsequent noise. It did take quite a bit of his mana but it wasn''t really a concern for him. He though it wouldn''t be a bother to deal with the bandits. With the path secured, he made his way toward the first cell. 4 men were busy raping 3 women while 2 others were lying on the side without energy. The young man nonchalantly entered the cell with his spear in his right hand and looked at the scene for a second. 2 of the men noticed him. -Ehh?? Who the fuck are you?? -What? As the first 2 men started at him he took them down with 2 quick stabs to their throat while still laughing heartedly. That made the other 9 shudder and they started to take him as a serious threat. The first cell had 5 women, the secood had 3, the third had 4, the fourth had 6 and the last one contained the 2 beautifull trophies. He went to the second cell and dragged the 3 women to the third cell. He then dragged the bandit to the newly emptied cell and closed it. He used his matter manipulation to completly lock the cell doors. -All right everyone, you wait patiently here until I''m done. The young man retrieved his spear and went toward the stairs. He made a path for himself and closed it, then carefully advanced. Once on top of the stairs he focused his senses to locate any nearby bandits. He was in small room with a door in front and another on each side. All were slightly ajar. Scent of food and liquor came from the room on the right, he went there and found 5 bandits drunk and sleeping. He quickly and silently killed them, and took 2 big gulps of a bottle of wine. He didn''t eat nor drink anything since he had woken up. He wanted to drink some more, but not before killing everyone. He went toward the door at the center and peaked. The room was like an entry hall, with double doors leading outside and stairs leading toward the upper floor on each side. The young man decided to go straight for the boss. He swiftly but silently moved to the upper floor and threw his spear in the head of the man who was standing guard in front of the hallway. The young man continued his advance toward what should be the master bedroom. He was excited at the prospect of fighting someone who could use both weapons and magic. He was curious at how his experimental body would fare against magic. ****************************** AN: I was in a bit of a bad mood and writing this was a good stress releiver :) Chapter 03 - Cleaning up AN: Here is the fourth chapter, battle chapter ****************************** As the young man was advancing toward his goal, he felt a weird pressure coming from behind him and put his back against the wall as a bolt hurled past him. He almost got shot in the back. He didn''t know how his body would handle direct physical hits, but he wasn''t eager to know that. Looking toward the place he came from he could see a man with a hooded cloak hiding in the darkness, he could even see his surprised look. ''''Must be the right hand named Doug...I couldn''t hear him coming at all. Was it his bloodlustI felt?'''' -BOSS, INTRUDER!! Shouted Doug. ''''Shit, fighting both of them could be dangerous, and more are likely to come now. It would be best to finish the sneaky one first.'''' As he heard noise coming from a nearby room, the young man run at top speed toward Doug, who tried to retreat. Doug was fast, but not as fast as the young man. The chase didn''t last 10 seconds, 10 seconds during which Doug threw 20 knives at the young man, all of them repelled by his spear or avoided. As Doug reached the groundfloor, he took out his dagger, the young man launched vicious thursting attacks, aiming to quickly end the life of the assassin. There were footsteps coming from outside and heavier footsteps coming from the upper floor, and that made the young man a little anxious. Doug could barely defend against the flurry of attacks and in the end his throat was stabbed. At the same time, several men coming from outside entered the hall as the boss appeared at the top of the stairs. He was a handsome man with brown hair and a nice beard, and steel blue eyes. He felt the magic building up during the short incantation, but it didn''t know the spell would be that fast once activated. The 3 water spears loudly crashed in the wall behind him, living 3 drilled holes. Aquick look at them told him it would have been really dangerous for him. As his gaze was once again on the boss, he was in the air, falling toward him, his double headed axe closing in on his head. He dodged by rolling to the side and as he stood up the flat side of the axe slamed him against the wall. It didn''t hurt the young man, but it did destroy his balance. The boss didn''t waste any time, he turned his axe to point the blade toward the young man and attacked once more. But this time, the young man stopped the axe with his left hand while still being pressed against the wall. -...What the fuck are you? -It was a nice strike, my arm is numb! You''re stronger and faster than your look suggest, especially with such a heavy weapon! The boss took several steps back. The 6 people near the double doors were schokked by what they witnessed. An unknown young man, no older than 15 in appearance, stopped the double handed axe strike from a veteran fighter with just one hand. Worse, their leader actually took his distance. Then looking at his left hand, he thought that it would be indeed unnatural for someone to stop this strike without injuries, so he took the bait and attacked. Even though magic spells and matter manipulation use mana, they aren''t used the same way. Normal magic user can feel the flow and building up of mana when a spell is cast nearby, but they can''t feel the flow of mana from matter manipulation. That is why the boss couldn''t notice the trap made by the young man. And the young man was also lucky, he didn''t think of the possibility that the boss could feel his magic the same he could feel his spells. When the boss reached the place, the stairs crumbled to the side and he completly lost his footing. Due to the surprised he couldn''t defend himself against the viscious spear strike aimed at his head. The last thing he saw was the smile of his opponent, the gleefull smile of a young boy that got what he wanted. Once his body reached the ground, his blood and brain decorated the hall. The others bandits gathered there, now numbering 19, were completly stunned. The young man didn''t wait, he started at them, bloody spear in the right hand, bloody dagger in the left, and proceded to finish them all. A few of them ran away calling for help, but that was useless. The 19 men gathered them were the most sober, the others were either dead or too drunk to be of any help. Within a minute, 15 men were killed, the last 4 gone to find some help. ''''Humm, that make 23 bandits left eh... The wolves were in packs of 8 to 12, and then again, Kalim exterminated them, except for the last pack. For some reason, the grey pack leader caugh the eyes of Kalim. - ''''Wait a minute. He felt some kind of kinship with the 2 wolves because of that. After a short break during which the wolves got aquitained with the girls, they continued toward Palam forest. ------- When they arrived at the edge of the forest, Kalim used earth magic to lower the ground under the horses and the cart until they were 80% under the ground level, then he made a solid roof with small holes for air. Of course he also let them with some water and food for the night. This way he was sure no harm would befall them while he went in the forest. Kalim charged in the middle of their ranks, his spear slashing and piercing multiples spiders with each strikes while his new short sword dealt with those that came from above, making their innards and body fluids rain on him. Amarok bit the legs and crushed the heads of the ones that tried to attack Kalim from behind. Alinee, Shanira and Asena were fighting while circling around Eryween and Elody to protect them. Elody and Eryween were dealing with the spiders that tried to attack from above. The assault only lasted for a minute, but within that minute they killed nearly 200 spiders, more than half the work of Kalim. Amarok and Asena had been injured a lot and Eryween spent most of her time healing them. At the end, Kalim had to personally heal them because they had been poisoned. And before advancing they didn''t forget to get the hunting proofs. From before noon to the middle of the afternoon, the group had to deal with an incredible amount of monsters, always in groups no less than 30. The girls were exhausted so they rested into a makeshift earth cabin for 2 hours. - ?That''s more serious than what the request said. The amount of monsters is insane. Investigation? There was the hiding place for Eryween and the wolves, 3 escapes holes, and all those were connected to another small room underground that would act like safe place. There were several pitfalls around, some were smalls and others were deep. The small ones were to injure the feet and legs, the deep ones were made to kill, or at least seriously hurt. Of course the other watched as he worked so they wouldn''t fall in the traps. They all went to their places and Kalim slowly advanced with the 3 girls. When he reached a critical distance from the unknown guys, he made another hiding place for Shanira and told Elody and Alinee to spread to the sides without advancing toward them further. ¡°Don''t act before you start hearing their screams of pain.¡± he told them before they left. Then he resumed his advance without trying to hide his presence, but still remaining cautious. He wanted to fight and have fun, yes, but he didn''t want to make stupid mistakes and die. His senses, which were already sharper than normal were further sollicited to detect anything. ------- Kalim was 20m further than before when he got the feeling that his presence was noticed. The magic users, sensing the activation of magic in the corpse dove behind the nearest cover. The others moved toward Kalim while ignoring the corpse of their dead comrade. The magic activated by Kalim heated all the liquids within the body, instantly vaporising them. The sudden internal pressure made the corpse explode into a red mist, projecting bones pieces and shards around at a speed fast enough to inflict wounds on all unprotected parts of the bodies from the people near. ¡°GAH!! RRAAAAAAAAAAAHH!!! The old woman took a bone shard in the left eye. She fell on her back and rolled around, screaming in pain N ot only did the impact hurt, but the bone piece was also burning hot. The old woman was crying, crawling on the fround to get away from the intruder. The explosion of the corpse lightly wounded several soldiers, and a few were frozen stiff by the bloody performance. The few who continued their advance toward Kalim got their concentration disturbed for a split second, just enough for Kalim to get within range of 4 of them. With a fast and powerfull spinning motion, he attacked them all, the blade of his spear slashing the first one, digging halfway into its neck. Within the same movement, while adjusting the position of his hands on the handle and correcting the aim, he shredded the head of the second one starting by the mouth, breaing the joint of the jaw and the bone of the cranium andcutting the cerebellum. When the blade left his body, it went toward the throat of the third one and ripped it appart, to finish in the nape of the neck from the fourth one, passing between 2 vertebraes and cutting the spinal cord. Within 3 seconds, Kalim had killed 5 of the soldiers. He had their blood on his body and his face. And he was happily grinning. The sight of this young man, stained in the blood of their comrades and smiling, illuminated buy the light of the campfire in the middle of the night, made all those around shudder, sending shivers down their spines. However, even though they got impressed and intimidated by his physical and battle prowess, they were still trained and experienced soldiers. They took defensive stances and slowly surrounded him while keeping a safe distance. The bow users retreated towards the darkness with the aim of striking him from his blind spots, and the magic users prepared their spells. All of this happened in a second. But for Kalim, 1 second is a lot of time in the middle of a battle. When a mage cast a spell, there is a build up of mana first before the spell activate. When Kalim gathered his mana during the talk, he gathered enough for several spells so the enemy couldn''t predict at which moment a spell would be released. However it is hard feat to gather a large amount of mana, cast a single spell and have enough concentration to keep control of the remaining gathered mana. Especially in the middle of a battle. He struck the ground, using a combination of 2 spells, body strenghtening, then earth magic, to create a powerfull schockwave. Within a 60m radius, the ground vibrated and bust appart, making everyone in the area completely lose their footing. The camp was destroyed and the campfire was almost completely out. The visibility wasn''t that great to begin with this deep in the forest at night. With the fire almost gone, all the soldiers would have a harder time fighting if the mage didn''t cast a lighting spell. But Kalim had no intentions to give them the chance. Using the remaining gathered mana, he created earth spikes and skewered all the magic users he had identified, those who reacted before the explosion of the corpse. Instead of a single, big spike for each ofthem, there were several, thinner and sharper ones for each mages. The air got filled with the painfull screams of several men. Suddenly, Kalim got a shiver running down his spine. A strong feeling of dread assulted him. The powerfull one was making his move. Kalim had no idea of where he was, yet his instincts was screaming at him to dodge. But where to dodge when you don''t know from which side the attack would come? He may very well jump right into the lion''s den. I had to rewrite the chapter right when I was reaching the end because the enemy that was supposed to be strong wasn''t that strong. Thinking about it, how come one who was a working member of society (finished highschool and college) still act like a naive teenager who doesn''t know caution or planning? ****************************** Blood sprayed on the ground as Kalim rolled after jumping backward. He pressed his hand on the deep cut on his throat as he got up and cast a powerful healing spell on himself. He was still wary of his surroundings, but the strong feeling of dread he got before the attack was gone. During that time the rest of the soldiers regained their balance as well. ¡°You bastard! Whoever you are, that was quite nasty!¡± screamed Kalim. ¡°No mana, no sound, no smell, not the slightest hint of motion. You had started to cut my neck before I could react. That''s one hell of a stealth ability you got there. I don''t even know what it is you used to cut me.¡± Kalim was screaming his words to warn the 2 girls that were supposed to support him from afar. The ennemy that wounded him would easily notice them and kill them if they were to attack now. As for the attacker, this person was very surprised and impressed by Kalim. The attack was supposed to kill him, yet his increadible reflexes allowed him to survive, and he had already completely closed his wound with magic. The hidden person realised it would have been dangerous to attack the young intruder on close range when it carried a corpse like it was a feather, and this intruder had incredibly sharp senses and instinct. He even noticed when it was ready to attack. But the person had no intention to reveal itself despite the apparent taunting of Kalim. The person would make full use of its comrade to take the dangerous intruder down, no matter how many would die for that sake. ''The attack that sneaky bastard used on me wasn''t a physical one. However, if it was a magical one I would have noticed the build up of mana. Magic item with passive abilities don''t have mana build-up, but the ones with active abilities do. And this attack was definitly the result of an active ability. That can only mean that whatever is hidding him to my senses also conceal the build-up of mana. If I want to get him, I will have to target something of importance for him: the leader of the group, the old woman.'' When the soldiers moved to attack him, Kalim went straight for the wounded woman who was still trying to get away from him, she had covered a fair amount of distance despite the circumstances. As he moved toward her, he also gathered a large amount of mana. The other soldiers noticed his aim and rushed to protect her. The closest ones to Kalim attacked him, half aiming for the lower body, the other half aiming for the upper body. And the archers at the outskirts aimed at his back. As the soldiers made contact with him, 3 muffled screams were heard from the outskirts of the ruined camp. Only a few people heard them, the closest ones to the outskirts, Kalim and the hidden enemy, who also rushed to protect the old woman. From her position, Elody simultaneously struck 2 archers in the neck, while Alinee struck another one on her side. Then they retreated and concealed themselves. At the same time, a powrfull whirlwind devastated the camp once more. At the center was Kalim. The soldiers who tried to stop him were blown more than 10m away in all directions. The gusts of wind created a cloud of dust in the area. Then Kalim cast another spell, and the temperature in the area dropped at a fast rate, creating a deep mist within a few seconds. Then he launched the final spell. An electrical discharge spread in the area filled with dust and water droplets. Nobody could dodge it. Everyone was on the ground, spasming and moaning in pain. Except for 2 figures. One of them was Kalim, the other was a humanoid shape with a thin waist, barely visible, with dark clothes, in a protective stance above the old woman. There was something that was clearly visible though, the eyes. They were not humans, they were not the eyes of beastmens. They were the eyes of something different, yellow toward the center, and turning red toward the edge. From the small pupil spread thin black paterns in an irregular fashion. Some electric arcs were still dancing around it. ¡°There you are... A demon? No, I don''t think that''s right. What are you?¡± ¡°...¡± ¡°What? You''re no longer hidden, why don''t you speak?¡± ¡°...¡± ¡°Or maybe you can''t? Whatever. You''re a tough one though. Everybody here got knocked out by the lightning, yet you''re completely fine. It didn''t even completely destroy your cloaking. Still, that''s enough to keep you from hidding from my senses. Now that I got a hold of you, I won''t lose you.¡± said Kalim as he redied his spear. A strong killing intent washed over him as the figure took a stance with something looking like a short sword in one hand and a dagger in the other. Kalim released his own bloodlust in response. The pressure generated by the 2 fighters was so strong that Elody and Alinee got paralised for an instant from more than 100m away. Shanira unconsciously retreated, and Eryween, Amarok and Asena had heir ears drop as they cowered in their hidding place. This story has been stolen from Royal Road. Kalim winced at the moment of impact. He could stop the 2 handed strike from a well built fighter with one hand, but a single one-handed strike from the opponent in front of him had more power than that, and the 2 almost simultaneous strikes numbed his arms and nearly made him drop his weapon. They constantly kept moving, the figure trying to get closer, attaking with the dagger and defending with the short sword. It was fighting at a range where the spear was harder to use. Kalim was more on the defensive than the offensive, pushing his muscles to their limits to match his opponent, both in strenght and speed. The only real advantage he had against this opponent was his reaction speed and constitution, their strenght and agility were at a similar level. They were moving away from the camp, Kalim wanted the girls to finish the soldiers, the figure wanted to keep Kalim away from the leader. The old woman had already been struck by powerfull attacks as the figure wasn''t able to protect her from the lightning attack. And fighting near her would probably kill her. It could only hope that the other soldiers would recover fast enough to take care of the hidden pests that came with the intruder. The figure was quite a powerfull opponent for Kalim, he couldn''t even muster the concentration to cast a spell, his opponent was just to dangerous on close range, fast, strong and skilled with its weapons. He was also curious about what kind of being it was. Somehow, it reminded Kalim a bit of himself, an oddity, and because of that, he got excited by the battle even more. Slowly, Kalim went more on the offensive, disregarding defense. The dagger of the enemy came into contact with his skin more often. Each time the cuts got deeper, but the amount of blood released didn''t increase as much as the figure would have liked. And with Kalim more on the offensive, the figure started to feel a bit pressured by this abnormal opponent, nearly as abnormal as it was itself. They had gone quite a way away from the camp, damaging trees and rocks on their way, and the few monsters that were still in the area ran away at full speed before the 2 fighters got close. Both started to use their legs more, trying to kick or trip the opponents while they moved, and it often ended in a mutual block or counter. And then, Kalim felt a subtle magic build up within the figure. The little smirk of excitation he had on his face disappeared to be replaced by a dark frown. A second later, the figure disappeared from his senses and Kalim frantically retreated, gathering a large amount of mana once again. He wanted to create a dense mist before launching an electrical discharge,like he did before, but before he could, the same sense of dread he felt when his throat was cut washed over him. Pushing his muscles to their limits he jumped toward the branch of the nearest tree. He hadn''t completely left the place where he was standing when the toes of his left foot separated themselves from the rest of his foot, along with the tip of his boot. Kalim quickly stopped the bleeding, but still couldn''t relax. Once again the dreadfull feeling overcame him and a deep cut appeared on the trunk of the tree where he had been a split second earlier. Kalim was forced to run at top speed, constantly changing directions, jumping on tree branches or rolling on the ground. With part of his left foot missing he had become slower, and with an attack coming at him almost every 2 seconds from a different direction each time he was in a bit of trouble. He was certain the figure would no longer stay in the open, always attacking froma hidden location despite being invisible. This way, if he used lightning again it would still remain concealed. Kalim had to think of a new spell on the fly to accurately locate his opponent. The answer came from the nature of the attack used against him. It was probably an attack based on space manipulation, so he had to developp a detection magic using chaos mana. And with space perception, he would be able to accurately detect the invisible attacks of his opponent. He would not need to run away anymore ****************************** AN: Next chap, the end of the mission Also, failed my driving exam because of a mistake at a turn around. It was empty so I dropped my guard and didn''t slow down too much. When I was about to enter the turn around a car appeared from behind the central reservation, in the inward way. I could stop to safely avoid the collision without problem, but due to the excess speed, I was halfway engaged in the turn around on the outward way when the vehicule stopped. Sorry for the delay, laptop problems and other RL trouble (no, it''s not because of my driving license, which I got by te way) Enjoy the end of Kalim''s fight with the mysteriously mysterious opponent. ****************************** Kalim was under geat pressure, trying to dodge near-perfect stealth attacks while trying to make a new spell on the fly. His mind was racing as he was formulating the spell that would allow him to detect spatial distorsions and grasp the existance of anything in the space around him, including his hidden enemy. But the difficulty of the task increased with time. He got more and more cuts on his body. There were many instances when he was barely able to react after the attack started to slice him, just like the first time. He noticed that his reactions were becoming imperceptibly slower, the blood loss was going to be a real problem soon. ''Shit! Since I''m trying to make the damn spell I have no time to heal myself. The situation really isn''t looking good...'' After a few crude experimentations, the light of hope came in his mind. He had managed to make a spell that would send continuous pulses to scan the surroundings, like a sonar. Kalim grinned and cast the spell without waiting. He was momentarily stunned by the vast ammount of informations his mind received, and heavily crashed on the ground. As if he wasn''t unlucky enough, his opponent launched another spatial attack on him. In the middle of the confusion and sharp pain, he vaguely felt the attack and reared back on reflex. But due to his poor footing he barely managed to avid instant death. The attack sliced his cheek, a part of his neck, his chest, his tummy, going down to his crotch, cutting his dick and his left ball nearly in half. The new surge of pain coming from his lower body was so sudden that he didn''t even have time to scream in pain. A large amount of blood flew out of the long cut on his body, dying his front and the ground in front of him crimson. The hidden fighter, despite the fact that it inflicted a serious injury on him, was stupefied. The young man had used chaos magic, something that was supposed to be impossible for any creature aside from demons and dragons. And even for them it was rare. And this young man was definitly no demon or dragon. It couldn''t dwell on it anymore, the young man was still alive, but it wasted 1 second being surprised. During that single second, many things happened for Kalim. The sharp, crushing pain that went through his body and mind, stirred something inside of him. For some time now he had been on the defensive against his opponent. Worse, just now he suffered a terrible injury from him after making a blunder. He was created to be a powerfull being. His creator probably wanted him to be a superior being, above all other dominant races. To be put in such a miserable state?? UNACCEPTABLE!!! ¡°RHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!¡± As the stealthy fighter rushed toward Kalim to deal the inishing blow and ensurring his death, a formidable pressure assaulted him along the loud roar, slowing him down. ''What the fuck is this?? I feel so heavy and can hardly breath!'' It didn''t have the time to think more. As it was in range and moving its long dagger toward Kalim''s closed eye, something blurred in its vision before going completly white for an instant. ''...What?'' In its vision, the sky and earth moved, alternating positions. Then it felt a strong impact on its side, along a loud breaking sound and a momentary loss of vision, then another impact, this time on the ground, with its ears ringing. It couldn''t move or breath for a short while, then he registered the pain, and the slight difference in its surroundings compared to a moment before. ''¡­ I''ve been blasted away? How? When?'' Ignoring the pain, it slowly got on its knees and looked around. It was now a good 30m away from Kalim. It had broken the trunk of a tree right in the middle on the way. It gaze rested on its enemy. The young man was standing, with the large cut still on his body, but it was no longer bleeding. There was light steam coming from the wound, and his eyes released an unholy golden glow, with his green and blue irises still clearly visible. The clothes on his arm seemed to have been blown apart, and the rest of his shirt was in an equally poor state. His skin had grown a bit darker, with veins bulging. The formidable pressure he emitted affined itself into a piercing killing intent that was directed straight at the stealth fighter. ¡°Playtime is over. Die.¡± It barely had the time to question what had happened when Kalim''s image blurred in its vision. It could comprehend that he was moving toward it, it could somehow grasp the path he was taking, but the movement was much too fast for it to even think about reacting. For a slight moment Kalim''s image stabilised in its vision, just enough to catch the kick that was aimed at it. On the instant of contact it lost all feelings and its consciousness. ------- After Kalim and his hidden opponent left, Alinee and Elody waited for a bit for the 2 deadly warriors to be away before acting again. Alinee was the first to act, picking up the weakest soldiers in her range. During the time they waited for the 2 to leave, a few soldiers had started regaining their bearings and reorganise themselves. She got the soldier at the base of the neck, but the injury didn''t take him down. That alerted the soldiers of her presence. Earlier, due to Kalim overwhelming might, she and Elody were ignored, but that wouldn''t happen now. The soldier she hit and another one went after her. Following the plan, she started to retreat toward Shanira''s position. As for Elody, she remained hidden. She kept her attention on the wounded old woman. She was the leader of their small group, the one who had all the answers. She knew that Kalim would want her alive, so she patiently waited. If she attacked now, like Alinee did, she would have people after her and would lose sight of her, so she remained silent and observed. And she was right to do so. They had too much casualities and lost too much equipment. Staying there would be too dangerous for them. As the group of soldiers were about to leave, they felt a heavy pressure coming from some distance away, and knew that things could turn worse for them very quickly. Because the pressure came from the area where the 2 fighters had left. ¡°Shit, Shain doesn''t have that kind of pressure, the other bastard is likely to finish him of. No choice, we will scatter more of the luring powder, and let him deal with the monsters while we run away.¡± ¡°We can''t do that professor! All o hus are wounded, we won''t be able to move very quickly. If we use the luring powder we will also become victims of the monsters. The invisible opponent was sent flying 100m away. Kalim stopped for a moment to cath his breath and calm his wildly beating heart. Then he used magic to restore his groin and mend the numerous cut on his body. After that he went toward the place where his oponent had landed. He didn''t notice that he was ignoring all unnecessary informations provided by his detection spell. After arriving at the place, he looked at the thing, still living despite its condition. Its concealing ability was deactivated. The black clothing were torn appart, and the head gear was gone. The limbs on the left side were broken, with a bone popping around the knee and the elbow. The left side of the chest was lightly caved, and 2 bloody ribs popped out. The skin was black, with some dark purple veins. Though the blood was still red. The figure was androginous, thin waist and slight bulge around the chest, but not quite like breasts. The face, although bloody and swollen on some part, was androginous as well. Kalim wanted to kill the thing, but he was also curious as well, curious about its nature, and curious about its cloacking ability. He himself was the result of an experiment, and he wondered if he could learn more about his origin if he could know more about the thing in front of him. Since he couldn''t determine if it was a man or a woman, he ripped the clothes around the groin and had a good look. There was a crack, like a woman, but where the clitoris should be, there was something more akin to a dick. The thing in front of him was both male and female. ¡°Hmm, I guess I should keep it for a while... That fucking old woman must know about this thing as well.¡± Kalim grabbed it by the neck, flung it on his shoulder and started to jog toward the camp. He hoped the girls were able to handle the rest. But as he got close to the camp, his mood got sour. He could smell the scent of burnt wood, furnitures and corpses, and the glow of the fire was visible. He rushed to the place and started to look for the girls. The only one he found was Alinee. ¡°What happened here? Where is Elody?¡± Alinee shudered under his domineering presence. She could tell that he was in a very bad mood. She did not waste more time and spoke as swiftly as she could. ¡°After you left, I resumed my attack on the remaining soldiers and lured a few of them toward Shanira, where we finished them. I told her everything that happened until you left, and she told me to group up with Elody, but when I came back, the camp was already starting to burn and Elody was nowhere in sight. They know not of any race that can have a sudden growth in power in a matter of minutes. He was tracking the group of soldiers, but the task proved to be very annoying. Th area was in complete chaos, with frenzied monsters fighting each others all over the place. The tracks of the soldiers were being erased, and the amount of monsters hindered his advance. Even if the majority of them instinctively moved out of his path, there were still plenty that attacked him. They were weak for him, but their sheer number was oppressing. Besides, he had used a lot of energy in his previous fight. Recovering Elody and the old woman would be tiring. On the other hand, Elody and the group of soldiers were in a pitch. More and more monsters had caugh up to them and they were slowed down. At that time, the soldiers had noticed that she was following them, but they didn''t spare a single second to deal with them. Under the old woman''s order, they left her alive, so they could have another pair of hands to deal with the monsters. Pressured, Elody gritted her teeth and joined the group of soldiers. Up until now, she had to move a lot to avoid being surrounded by the monsters, and her stamina was running low. She was more suited at using the bow rather than the dagger, but she was long out of arrows and desperatly needed someone to watch her back. The soldiers relucantly and silently let her join them. They all needed each other to survive. Finally, the group could no longer advance and they got surrounded. A monster akin to a boar charged at the group, blasting away the ones that were in its path. Thanks to their coordination, the group of soldier managed to dodge the charge, but it wasn''t the case of Elody. She didn''t train with them, she wasn''t familiars with their habits and reactions. She tried to evade, but wasn''t fast enough. ¡°GUAAAAH!!!¡± She was sent flying by the mass of muscle and crashed heavily on a nearby tree. Both of her arms had been broken by the initial impact, and upon colliding with the tree, several of her ribs were broken. Her mind went blank, as her breathing stopped due to the schock. Before her mind cleared, her left leg was crushed by the deadly jaw of a nearby monster. The new surge of pain helped her regain her senses, but it didn''t prove to be good for her, as several more monsters latched onto her body. ¡°HAA... HUAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!¡± She was assaulted by a terrible amount of pain. Her left leg was being chewed the monster as it scratched at it with its claws. Another one was bitting her right shoulder, cracking her collar bone and tearing her delicate flesh with its dirty fangs. Her right arm and both of her tights were equally assaulted. Each monster rying to pull her body toward them. She was litteraly being torn appart as another monster latched onto her belly.
