His name is Rodrick and he was sweating more than ever. Reason? His wife was giving birth to his son and it wasn''t going well. Rodrick is a soldier of the Heaven Army,born and raised in Neapolis, he was stationed here permanently and worked as a gatekeeper for more than 20 years. He saw a lot in his life, people running while being chased by the monsters, his friends going out to fight against monster and dying while being torn apart, adventurers coming out and never coming in. He met his wife 10 years ago while he was guarding entrance to the city and saw his future wife while she was escaping from monsters with her parents, when he saw her face he knew, she''s the one and he needs to protect her. He rushed out form his post and killed the monster with his sword , it was easy to kill since the monster was still in it''s initial phase of life l. After he placed his sword in scabbard first thing he did was to ask her name, You might be reading a pirated copy. A couple years later they finally married and bought small house nearby his job. Coming back to the present, Rodrick was waiting outside of the house and hoping that the surgery went well. Then suddenly: "Waaaah! Waaaah!" Rodrick was shocked, the voice made him skip the beat and he knew, it was their child. He felt happinness and gratitude to all gods if they exist. He couldn''t hold it and went in the house, then he saw her, her face full of tears and room full of blood, she was holding their child and smiling, this smile was the brightest he ever saw. He knew, all went well.He knew he must say something but words simply wouldn''t come out so asked the obvious question: "Dear, what''s his name?" She saw his face, smiled and then while looking at the child she said: "Elio, Elio Drakar" And so was named the Future Emperor and Savior of All. Since he could remember his favorite tale was that of Crusaders, how they saved humanity from extinction and how some of them still lead humanity in our days. He wanted to be like them so he was waiting for the day when he could start his road to become strong as them. It was sunday , so his mother was cooking something nice since it was also a day off for his dad. After morning routine he went to kitchen: "Good morning, mom, what are you cooking?" "Hey dear, don''t worry, it''s something good and i''m sure you will like it"- said Felicia while making a grin - "and i''m pretty much sure you forgot to say hello to your dad" When Elio heard what his dad was already back home from his nightguard he ran out of the house and saw his dad repairing their fence: "Good morning dad, mom''s finishing her cooking, let''s go and start eating our breakfest?" Rodrick saw excitment in the eyes of his son and started laughing: "Ahaha you rascal, you think i don''t know what day is today? Okay, go back and tell mom that as soon as i finish this fence i''ll come to eat breakfest. Also after that, get ready, we''re going to HEAVEN Centre." Elio heart started to beat very fast. Finally this day has come: "Okay dad , be fast pleaseeeeeeee." Elio went back to the kitchen and started eating his breakfest, after few minutes Rodrick came in and gave morning kiss to his beloved wife.: "Hello Dear, how''re you doing?" - Rodrick smiled "Oh i''m fine Rodrick but, as you can see, our little rascal can''t wait for you to finish your breakfest ahaaha" Elio started to become red . After 15 minutes Rodrick and his son went to HEAVEN Centre.While walking in middle of the streets Elio was looking around as much his neck could allow him without breaking, he never went out this far from his house.He saw different shops , some of them were selling weapons, others were slling monster materials but no matter how much he looked around he couldn''t notice them all. When he saw tavern full of soldiers and adventures covered in scard and huge weapons on their back his eye lighted up, he wanted to go there but Rodrick had his own plans. The City was Governed by General of The Heaven Army. Heaven Army was divided in ranks, only people who survived HEAVEN Therapy could become officers. Bottom rank were Cadets , then Soldier and Sergeant. They were only normal human beings. Officers are divided by ranks as well Lietenant, Captain,Major,Colonel,General. Before the Year 2450th ranks were earned by military Achievments, then Dr. Tokizawa finally finished his research and could develop a program called Heaven Test to identify aptitude and current level of strength of examiner. When they entered a young woman. "Good Morning, Sir. How may i help you? "Good Morning, Miss. I would like my son to take Heaven Test, do we need to wait or we can go right now? This woman first looked at Rodrick, then at Elio. "Sorry, there are already some people awaiting to take their tests. Actually 1 girl with her grandpa, so could you please go around thar corner and sit down on chairs nearby that family? We will call you." Elio and Rodrick went in that direction , when they finally sat down Elio noticed a girl in front him. God if she was beatiful. Elio couldn''t say a word when he started blushing. When Rodrick and Grandpa of that girl saw that they all started laughing which made the girl notice the boy in front of her. "Hey you, what''s your name? Mine is Sofia" Elio couldn''t answer her so Rodrick answered in his place. "Hey little girl, his name is Elio, sorry, he''s too embarassed to say anything. Elio wanted to escape , he was feeling too hot. Right at this moment young woman from Reception walked in. "Sofia Bellador and Msr. Bellador please come with me." Sofia and her grandpa stood up and walked in direction of the young woman. When Sofia passed nearby Elio she stopped and looked at him. "Elio you''re my friend and my first EVER friend. Next time talk to me. Hmph" Elio blushed even more, he never had any friends as well. When they were finally out Rodrick said. "Elio, you got yourself a girlfriend already, when i was your age i couldn''t even dream about it aahahaha" Elio finally couldn''t hold it in. "DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD" After 10-11 minutes young woman finally walked in. "Msr..... Ah right i forgot to ask , what are you name and surnames?" Rodrick stood up. "Mine is Rodrick Drakar and his is Elio Drakar. And what''s your miss?" Young woman started to write their names and surnames in blank. "My name is Iris.I am 22 and not married, please follow me" She walked as if she didn''t say anything wrong. Rodrick laughed though not aloud , took Elio''s hand and started following Iris. After different corridors they finally arrived to room where some kind of scanner stood. Iris went nearby it, clicked on some kind of button then mechanical voice came out of it. "Examinee, come to center of the room and place your hand on scanner" Rodrick smiled at his son and pushed his son to centre, Elio''s heart was beating nonstop and it seemed like most important time of his life finally arrived. When Elio placed his hand on scanner whole room became silent. After 30 seconds a mechanical voice started speaking. "Aptitude None, Stength class F." "Elio, your name means Sun so stop worrying and be more cheerful, your dreams do not end with this assessment , they just need to take another form. You can become a hero , we just need to find a different path for you.. Even i, while saving someone from monsters on my shifts, am considered a hero by the people i saved. Elio was walking back to his home aftera hard day of work in the blacksmith, he and his father decided that he will become an apprentice of blacksmith at the moment he turned 10. Elio''s father hoped that by doing this kind of job Elio would be able to increase his physical strength in 1 way or another . Forging weapons and armors was quite a good job in this age, after more than 400 years of war against monsters old weapons such as: fireguns, laser weapons etc became useless. Monsters could adapt very fast to any kind of danger, their skin became impenetrable by simple bullets or heat. For unknown reason Asyllum started to change as well, humanity discovered different kinds of metal, wood and other materials. After these discoveries humanity was finally able to create weapons , which were and are, very effective against monsters. Forging, woodworking , leatherworking and other kind type of crafting also started to gain huge popularity among survivors, there is always a need for weapons and armors. To use more efficiently melee and/or long range weapons Martial Schools were created, some accepted only most talented and some were for common people who wanted to become city guards or foot soldiers in Heaven Army. From the moment Elio started to study under his Master, Vulcan, it beame quite obvious what he''s very talented, his skills were growing with every strike he made. After 5 years years Elio finished his apprenticeship and he was coming back home as full fledged blacksmith. He was the youngest blacksmith in Neapolis and also quite popular, he made good quality items which reached B grade and never missed his deadline. During his period of apprenticeship he had to live with his Master so he could fully immerse himself in art of forging. He couldn''t make any friends of his age , though there is one special friend which he couldn''t never forget, Sofia. Time to time Elio asked his customers if they ever heard about Sofia and what he found out simply astonished him. She became an officer in Heaven Army and she was raising pretty fast in ranks. She might become the youngest General ever. Her intelligence and talent were 1 of the best in last century. There was even a rumor that one of Crusaders made her his own personal apprentice. Elio couldn''t forget her, so he tried his best in his own way so maybe one day he could meet her and finally have a proper talk. When Rodrick and Felicia heard what their son said , Rodrick didn''t say anything meanwhile Felicia started to beg Elio to not join, she cannot handle to loose him or risk him in any way. But no matter what Elio was set to join ranks of Heaven Army. After 30 minutes he reached The Central Of Heaven Army. When he tried to enter the building he was stopped by a man in uniform. "Good Afternoon, sir. What business do you have in this building?" "I would like to join Heaven Army as blacksmith, i can forge weapons and armor of B grade." Man guarding the entrance couldn''t believe what he just heard, a youngster which didn''t even have 18 years could forge B grade items? Well, even if he lies it has nothing to do with him. "Okay, proceed forward to reception, there you can talk to Miss Iris." "Thanks" Elio went forward to reception while thinking, can it be that Miss Iris from HEAVEN Centre? Usually people would buy normal doors made by simple metal or wood, not those heavy ones . Even though they could buy heavy ones there''s no way in the world they could make it an automatic door. Elio saw stairs which leaded underground, he went down the stairs for some time until he saw a dark red light jumping on the walls. The room was big, it had almost no ventilation, the heat inside was unbearable to normal human beings but to Elio it was paradise. He grew up in this hell of heat so he was used to it. The moment they went it no one stopped their work, though blacksmiths wanted to take a look at the they couldn''t , it could cause a drop in quality of their pieces. Mrs. Iris and Elio passed by blacksmiths and went further in the room, there was a desolated forge with only 1 man working. Tournament could go on from couple days to couple of weeks, all depended who ended up as finalist.When Mr.Hephaestus saw Elio he recognized him, he was that little guy which amazed him when he went to visit his old rival, he saw a 13 year old forging C grade long sword. He or Vulcan needed 12 year of experience to reach that level. The most strangest thing was that a 13 year old boy could wield heavy hammer as if it was part of his body. Remembering all these facts Hephaestus started laughing. When he was done with it Hephaeustus said: " Mrs. Iris there''s no need, i can vouch for that boy. You couldn''t that he''s Vulcan''s first apprentice? He uses Thousand Infernal Hits technique for forging which is high quality technique same as mine Thunder Forging." Mrs.Iris couldn''t help but frown while she was turning around to tell somethingt to boy. You will get 50 gold coins a week and also you can get personal guards if you want to, all will be paid by Heaven Army. Also if you''re lucky, you can be imployed by some officers as personal smith and start traveling together with them but don''t get your hopes too high, it''s really rare for someone to hire an unknown blacksmith. If you want to forge something for yourself or for anyone outside of Heaven Army you can use an available anvil if there''s one but you must pay for all materials you use. To get any material you , walk to the entrance and go into the room on the left, there you can find our collection of materials. To go in you would have to speak to Patricia, she''s responsible for handling issuing any requested material if it''s available. Your jos is to forge a certain quantity of items, the total of items you need to forge depends on the quality. F grade 100 items, E Grade 80 items, D Grade 50 items, C grade 20 Items, B grade 10 Items, A grade 2 items, S Grade 1 item. You can choose any of these options. So i guess that''s it , follow me. Elio was shocked again , it was 3rd or 4th time in 24 hours he gets schocked, it''s almost became almost a normal thing for him to get shocked every time this woman speaks. First of all, 50 gold coins was a lot of money, the annual wage his father gets from his work is around 40 gold coins. The monetary system is based on copper, silver, gold and mithril coins. Copper is lowest value coin , 100 copper equals 1 silver coin, 100 silver coins equals 1 gold coin and 100 gold coins equals 1 mithil coin. You could buy new and decent house for 120 gold coins or you could buy a computer for 150 gold coins. Usually B grade items were sold for 20-30 gold coins and if Elio wanted to earn a lot of money he could do it because he has skills BUT....... There''s a huge problem, he doesn''t have any material to use and he cannot buy it because he doesn''t have any money. Materials would cost 10-15 gold coins and you would need to have decent equipment to make a normal or higher quality B grade item. Secondly he could use the forge for his own reason and all he need is to pay for materials , there''s no fee for using this facility. It was the best place to work for a newbie blacksmith such as him. After 1 hour of bureaucracy, Elio was given a general information book about Heaven Army then he signed the contract and ran off to his home. There he told everything to his parent and they got so excited that whole neighborhood started yelling at them to get quiet. Elio''s parent were as happy as worried for him, he joined the army after all and you never know what may happen. After the dinner Elio went to his room and started reading. After 1 hour of reading he furrowed his eyebrows, the information writted in the book cannot be found anywhere. It explained internal ranks. Heaven Army ranks were divided into foot soldiers and officers. Foot soldiers were normal humans which couldn''t undergo the DNA treatment but still wanted to join the army meanwhile officers are divided in: Initiate, Adept, Knight, Knight Lieutenant, Knight Commander, General, Warlord, High Warlord. The book told if ranked by Adventurer Guild standard it would be E,D,C,B,A,S,SS,SSS. Ranks represent not only their strength but also capability as commanders.For crafstmen there was also a ranking system. It was divided into: Apprentice, Senior Apprentice, Metal Blacksmith, Heaven Blacksmith, Master Blacksmith, Soul Blacksmith, Mater Souls Blacksmith, Energy Blacksmith. Elio couldn''t understand what means Souls or Energy blacksmith but still it sounded awesome , he thought that maybe later on he would go ask his Master about it. After he finished reading general info about ranks Elio let out a huge "yawn" , he closed his book and went to sleep. He will finish it reading next time. "Author''s Note End" January 27 Year 2780 Early in the morning Elio headed back to the forge, he was very excited. He passed by the same guard he met yesterday at the entrance. He directly headed inside the forge, there he met Patricia. Her height is around 165 cm, has a huge pair of ¡°mountains¡± and she''s a little bit plump. I''m sorry!¡± Elio suddenly started running to his working place, he simply had no idea what to say , he felt embarrassed every time he tried to talk to some cute girl, so when he saw her and ¡°them¡± being so close to him his face was hotter than an erupting volcano. First of all, to clear the work agenda, he forged 10 B Grade items which took a total of 10 days. Rest of the time he used to increase his abilities as the blacksmith. He reached the bottleneck in blacksmithing a year ago. Vulcan, Elio''s Master , gave him an advice: ¡° The threshold of A Grade doesn''t consist only in increase of item''s quality, the ¡°perception¡± of the piece is totally different, that''s your hint. Think about it. ¡±. So, for past 2 weeks, he was helping others for no money. He helped Hephaestus and others to help them forge their items so he could gain experience for no money. From the time he joined The Forge his colleagues were pessimistic about his age and his abilities, but after seeing how fast he is and the way he does it,the attitude was changed, as the say goes ¡° Sky is vast and people are different, do not judge to not be judged.¡± Elio couldn''t talk that much with Patricia, he was simply too embarrassed ,but Patricia never understood his feelings so after some time they became friends. One might say there cannot be friends between man and woman but with Elio''s shyness and Patricia''s innocent mind there couldn''t be any further progress in relationship. For Elio to become friend with a girl was already some kind of record. Elio was helping Hephaestus with his work while Patricia was coming toward them. ¡°Good afternoon Mr.Hephaestus, hi El. These 10 swords were made from Duranium, it''s one of new materials discovered by humanity through their exploration. To make weapons, armors or any other kind of item you need materials. Materials have their own grades as well, Duranium for example is a B Grade metal. The classification of those materials are divided into F,E,D,C,B,A,S,SS,SSS, Unique Grades. Grades F, E and D are common materials and they are used everywhere. From C Grade and forth are not that common, they are used for specific purposes without wasting any of them. Their price as well their rarity are equal. For example, to craft C Grade item you would need around 2 gold coins meanwhile for a B Grade materials you would need to spend 15 gold coins. Sometimes to sell some high grade materials an auction would be hosted in a city. Few years ago there was a ruckus in nearby city, an adventurer found an ore called Furium, Grade S. It was sold for an astronomical amount of money, 100000 gold coins. The year revenue of a Central City is around 1250000 gold coins. The year revenue of a city guard is around 500 gold coins. Elio reached 3rd floor of the building after 10 minutes, there was an office called Identification Division Their work is to identify, grade and accept/refuse the items made by the craftsman. This office had also another function, to provide assistance in identification of any new material found by the Heavens Army officials or to help them find any weapon available in the storage. Each craftsman had to present their own work in time so they could be identified by the Judge .
